Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite topics.
Something that my son and I share common in common and that we have good good talks and conversations about its cars.
So we're going to talk about cars today and we're going to explore the incredible evolution of automobiles from their humble beginnings to the high-tech marvels we drive today.
We'll talk about the different types of cars that fit every lifestyle from muscle cars that just roar down the road, which are fun to drive.
Even if you can't go as fast as you want to and family cars that keep everyone safe and comfortable.
We'll also take a look at vehicles that work behind the scenes to build our world like dump trucks and construction equipment, that kind of thing.
So buckle up, turn the ignition and let's get started to road trip through automotive history and we'll look at the future a little bit so and beyond.
History of cars.
The story of cars begins in the late 19th century.
The first cars were more like motorized carriages powered by steam engines in 1886.
Carl Benz introduced the Benz patent motor wagon widely considered the first modern automobile.
It was powered by a gasoline engine and set the stage for cars that we know today.
Then came the 20th century when Henry Ford revolutionized the industry with the assembly line.
His Model T introduced in 1908 made cars affordable and accessible to the average person.
As technology progressed, cars became faster, safer and more reliable.
By the mid 20th century, cars were more than just a mode of transportation.
They were a symbol of freedom, status and innovation.
Today we're in the age of electric cars, self driving technology and smart connectivity.
Companies like Tesla, and legacy automakers like Ford and GM are reshaping what cars can do from helping the environment to driving themselves.
Let's dive into the many types of cars out there that are designed to meet different needs and different lifestyles.
Muscle cars.
Of course I led with this one.
Think Ford Mustang, think Corvette, Camaro, Dodge Charger.
Muscle cars are all about power, speed and iconic design.
These cars rule the streets in the 60s and 70s and are still popular among car enthusiasts today.
Sports cars.
For those who crave luxury and speed, sports cars like Porsche 911 and Ferrari 488 are the ultimate thrill machines.
They're designed for performance, sleek designs, roaring engines and being very, very fast and stay on the road.
Family cars from minivans like the Toyota Sienna to SUVs like the Honda CR-V.
Family cars are all about comfort, safety and space.
They're go to choice for road trips, carpools and everyday errands.
And we've had our share of minivans with three kids all going different directions and their friends and two dogs.
We use every inch of the minivans that we had.
And when it was time and we didn't need the minivans anymore, my wife was so ready to get something else.
Anyway, they definitely fit a purpose.
Electric cars or EVs, they're definitely transforming the industry.
Why choose a sleep number smart bed?
Can I make my site softer?
Can I make my site firmer?
Can we sleep cooler?
Sleep number does that.
It cools up to eight times faster and lets you choose your ideal comfort on either side.

But I don't think that they're going to be the go to at least no time soon.
I know that for a while there we were thinking that the electric cars were going to be the future and going to be required.
Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen now.
So you're going to have a choice of what.
If you want an electric car, great.
If you want to stay with a gas powered cars then absolutely.
When they go to pickups like the Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado are favorites for the ruggedness and versatility.
Perfect for towing, hauling or just making a statement.
Luxury cars.
If you're looking for premium features look no further than brands like Mercedes, BMW, Lexus.
These cars are cutting edge technology plus interiors and top notch performance.
Hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
For those who want a mix of tradition and electric power, hybrids like the Toyota Prius are a great middle ground.
My sister-in-law has a BMW hybrid which is absolutely amazing.
I mean, I'm never going to let go of my gas engine unless it's a diesel.
But I do like the mix.
You know, it's not a plug-in.
You don't have to worry about that.
It charges itself.
I just think that's really cool.
Really saves on a lot of gas.
Cars that build our world.
So let's shift gears and talk about vehicles that do more than just get us from point A to point B.
These are the workhorses that build our cities and keep the world running.
Dump trucks.
Dump trucks.
Dump trucks are essential for construction projects.
They're designed to transport large quantities of materials like sand, gravel and debris.
The hydraulic bed that tips to unload the cargo is an engineering marvel.
Bulldozers.
I always wanted that to be my nickname was bulldozer.
These powerful machines are key to clearing land and moving heavy materials.
Equipped with massive blades, bulldozers are the backbone to any major construction project.
Cement mixers or as we say in the South, cement.
Ever seen those trucks with a spinning drum?
Those are cement mixers crucial for transporting and mixing concrete on the go.
Cranes.
While technically not a car, cranes are vital for lifting heavy materials high into the air.
Modern mobile cranes are essential trucks with powerful lifting capabilities.
So you do drive them a little bit, right?
And then pickup trucks beyond personal use.
Pickups like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-250 are worksite staples.
Their combination of strength and practicality makes them indispensable for contractors and laborers.
Interesting facts about cars.
Here's some things that are pretty neat.
Did you know the first speeding ticket was issued in 1904?
The driver was going 12 miles per hour.
I can run a good bit faster than that.
That's crazy.
I mean, what were they scared of, man?
That's crazy.
The world's best selling car is a Toyota Corolla with over 50 million units sold worldwide since its debut in 1966.
Electric cars aren't as new as you think.
The first electric vehicle was developed in the 1830s, but gasoline engines eventually overtook them in popularity.
Formula 1 race cars can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in under two seconds.
A testament to the pinnacle of automotive engineering and some good tires.
Cars are becoming safer every year.
Car and vehicles come with advanced driver assistance systems like automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assist.
Future of cars.
This is interesting.
Autonomous vehicles.
Self-driving cars are no longer a thing of science fiction.
Companies like Waymo and Tesla are testing autonomous technology that could one day eliminate the need for human drivers.
That's cool and scary.
We talked about the electrification of cars.
Flying cars.
Yes, you heard that right.
Companies like Aircar and TeraFugia are working on vehicles that can switch between driving on roads and flying in the sky.
That's pretty cool.
Connected cars.
Communicating with traffic lights and other vehicles and even your home.
Smart cars will integrate seamless into our digital lives.
We'll definitely be tracked more that way, won't we?
That's about what I got for the history of cars.
We've explored many types of vehicles and even looked at how cars help us build our world.
The journey of cars is one of innovation, excitement and endless possibilities.
Whether you're a gearhead, a casual driver or just someone who appreciates the beauty of engineering,
there's no denying that cars have shaped the way we live, work and play.
If you liked what we had to say today, if you'd share this with some friends
and maybe you guys could get interested in some cars and give us some car shows and things like that,
now we're going to continue this series and we're going to get into some individual cars.
The next one we're going to talk about the Chevy Corvette, the history.
To me it is one of the most iconic American cars and I've had one.
I want to share my experiences with the Corvette and we'll also take a look at the history.
Alright guys, that's it for me today. I hope you guys have a great day.
We'll talk to you next time. God bless.
I think your kid is walking up the slide.
Kyle, again, really?
