The Jeep TJ Wrangler is a tough vehicle made for off-roading. The 1997 version is known for being reliable and good for adventures outside of regular driving.
U-joints are parts that help connect different parts of a car's drivetrain, allowing them to move together even if they're not perfectly lined up. They're important for transferring power from the engine to the wheels.
Steering components are the parts that help you turn the car. They connect the steering wheel to the wheels, allowing you to control where the car goes.

Stevensvilleontheweb.ca, iHeart and all the podcasting platforms you can think of and then
sometimes 10 and a diet soda, yeah, it was gross but it'll show you what that cabin air filter
looked like and there wasn't a whole, there was a lot of blow but no go, coming out of the dash,
the frost and at the floor, when I put that new filter in there and I set the thing for
center dash and almost put me in the back seat, so I seriously suggest get on that
cabin air filter, find out if your vehicle is equipped and just get a new one in there,
because they plug up with all kinds of heavy-duty hardcore bacteria and if you have any kind of
cardio respiratory issues, you're sucking in 100% concentrated bacterias, not good.

they're there for, connect and you can trust them, you can trust them, they're all my buddies and
they have my seal of approval, they've been with car connection for many many many years,
just wrapping up 31 years on radio, all right I'm going to give you your bonus accessory today,
yeah I have a topic, I have some things I'm going to share, but I have a bonus accessory for you
today, a component that is so overlooked, I don't know why because it's serious, it's a serious
component, but it's ignored for some reason and it has feelings, I think, drive belts, accessory
drive belts, that's why I said bonus accessory, got it, okay, accessory drive belts, many of
today's cars have one belt, drives everything, that's water pump, crankshaft, power steering,
air conditioning, the whole schmiel is run off of one belt, that sucker breaks its car down,
it doesn't matter if it's minus 20 outside, that belt breaks, the engine will overheat
in a matter of minutes, so why do we ignore a belt that drives everything that without it,
it's car no go, it means it's car down and you certainly don't want to overheat the engine
because that is death, you know as they say the black screen of death on your computer means
it's going to be a rough day, yeah absolutely, buy someone lunch, you'll feel better, yeah how many
of us have been there, the black screen of death, no, no, no I don't, a few too many times for me,
anyhow that belt needs to be seriously maintained, that means we need to check that sucker
every time the car gets in the service base, remind here's where you come in because preventative
maintenance is up to you, don't expect the service advisor to remember everything because you're not
the only customer that comes into the shop, into the repair shop, there's you know they got to fix
more than one car all day just so you know my pops thinks they should just drop everything and fix
his car, I had to say pops, they kind of have overhead, they kind of you know you can't have four
five six guys working on one car all day, oh yeah I go you're you're not the only customer I'm sorry
to tell you that but it's true so I'm I'm reminding you as well you're not the only customer and
everybody's car down situation is a emergency, right, how do I pick the kids up from school,
huh you know how am I going to get granted to the to the doctors tomorrow morning and then there's
this program after school and that program and it just gets nuts so why do we forget about the
accessory drive belt, I don't know it's an IDK, every time we had vehicles in the shop there was
always common what I called our standard operating procedures, do a quick check level check make sure
all the levels are good take a look at the drive belt have a look under the hood have a look around
see that everything is as it should be that way if there's something that doesn't look good we can
catch it before it goes awry and ends up costing you a bundle of money so make sure every time your
vehicles in the shop you should have on that repair order check the accessory drive belt
or belts in case there's an extra belt in there like my Honda Civic it has multiple belts it has
one super duper large one and it has a couple of smaller ones and I think you have to have hands
the size of Gumby yeah to get in there that's how it's teeny weeny I mean it's like wow like
you need like a six-year-old working on the car to get the belts off anyhow I don't want to digress
I got other stuff to share with you so today's the actual topic is freeze out prevention not the
10th avenue freeze out freeze out prevention two things you gotta know so here's where warm up that
crayon here we go number one oh it's over here there's my list that's the other list okay first
and foremost items that you're going to require and I will include those in the description of the
podcast you need a can of heavy-duty silicone spray you also need a can of PB blaster all right if you
want to check out a really good solid heavy-duty silicone spray you can check out castle products
on our website my good friend Castle Jim will be happy to ship a can out to you that's the
silicone spray I use I find it it's one of the best I used to get the German silicone spray made
in Germany but I just can't seem to find it anymore so I use the super heavy-duty silicone spray
from Castle Products so you can check in with my good friend Castle Jim and he'll even let you know
where you can pick it up because he is the he is the sole distributor in all of Ontario
and I think Canada like for 30 something years so don't tell him I told you about PB blaster
just just between you and me many years ago my friend Glenn Alice he's a locksmith for many many
many years introduced me to PB blaster and he said don't use anything else motor mouth on lock
cylinders and door hinges it doesn't attract dirt it's not sticky it's perfect for tumblers
key tumblers you know what I mean locks and for also for hinges you don't want any sticky goo on
hinges because it just attracts every low-life piece of dirt and then it just gets all caked with
some kind of goo and then you got to power wash it all off but with PB blaster you don't need to do
that it's not alcoholed so it stays it stays and it lubricates it doesn't leave a greasy mess
so it is the product that you're going to need for this topic today so again items required
heavy-duty silicone spray and a can of PB blaster and I'll tell you you can get that you can get a
good deal on that on a good size can at Princess Auto I nickname it the Prince of the Palace Store
so if you hear me say that or the jungle website you know which one that is right all right so I
will put the details again in the description of the podcast so here's what I want you to do
the daylight today is perfect it's wet snowing it's converted to rain it's come back to wet snow
and I'm looking at the temperature overnight it's going to be about 26 to 31 so you know what's
going to happen right freeze up so today might be too soon for you to do this but I would highly
recommend you put it on the top of your your honeydew list and get it done because yeah it looks like
tomorrow which is today Thursday uh the high for Thursday is 26 the overnight low 17 so guess what
freeze up yeah so it's going to be wet wet wet wet wet and then sometime it's going to flip right over
and we're going to go into the freeze zone so that means all the wetness is going to freeze
your door locks your windows so get those wipers up man like like 10 soldiers get them off the glass
or you're going to be having to burn them off the glass yeah you don't I don't want any wipers
getting busted and wiper motors and wiper transmissions because that's that can be a
thousand dollar a day right there that that just is not good it's not good so get those wipers off
the windshield today today because the overnight low is going to freeze things up so okay number one
lube all the locks and hinges on your vehicle with PB blaster that comes with a little hose
poke it through the hole in the key slot and give it a lube take a little Kleenex or a paper towel
with you just to you know I give it like a three second on each lock that's what I do three seconds
and then just catch the balance get the hose out of there so it stays in the lock cylinder
do all the locks and hinges and do it at least once a month just go around and redo it all winter
and you won't get frozen out your locks will work and then make sure you put the keys in
I know we all have most of us have remotes put the keys in and work the lock left right left
right and get that PB blaster in there number two spray all the entrance doors seals
or no not those no seals were harmed in its taping of the car connection workshop
just so you know and I don't need so seal flippers no so spray all the entrance way
door seals with the heavy duty silicone spray that is going to prevent the seals from gluing
themselves and welding themselves to the body of your vehicle because it's all nice and wet right
now and it's a little bit mild outside and we're going to drop right into the free zone and that's
what happens locks weather stripping windshield wipers will be glued to the windshield if you
leave them there guaranteed you'll be prying them off with a shovel and uh so you want to get all
those door seals sprayed even if they're damp when you're spraying the silicone spray on it will
dispel and disperse any moisture and if you do that once a month it only takes a few minutes
open all the doors go all the way around so leave the doors open let the silicone spray
dry on to the weather seals and guess what it doesn't matter how much ice comes you'll get in
while your neighbor is prying the door for the third time with something else he's found in his
garden shed or his garage you'll be in and already nice and toasty warm so these are the best ways
for me to help you help yourself to prevent you from breaking stuff tearing door seals that are
worth hundreds of hundreds of dollars and you got to put them back on you need them to keep the water
out pulling on these plastic door handles and it's happened to me busted the freaking handle right
off now you got a big job first you got to get the door open then you got to take all the door
panel all the fixings and accessories off and a lot of these door handles are not a treat to replace
more labor than handle if you know what i'm saying less parts ton of labor so we don't want you
pulling on the door handle like you're trying to start up a lawn mower or a chainsaw no not a good
idea because you will break it off it's plastic so take it easy yeah you know you know nobody's
going to tell you how to ditch by the plastic door handle trust me it's not going to happen no
so those are my two things freeze out prevention two things you got to know
and those are the two things and the bonus accessory make sure every time your vehicles
goes in the shop that the accessory drive belts are checked inspected and reported on reported
remember the four things that have to be on a work order to prevent lack of communication
and communication breakdown that costs everybody money especially you the consumer you got to
learn how to be a prosumer not a consumer a professional consumer four things on a work
order concern cause correction and confirmation i can't tell you enough when i close my shop
after 11 years because of health reasons i went to work for a major car company in canada the four
seas were drilled into our foreheads like you would not believe long before anybody else was talking
about it on youtube's and anywhere else the four seas in order for us to get any work orders
or repair work that was under warranty taken care of by the manufacturer there better be
the four seas covering the repair on the work order on what we call the ro the repair order
concern what's going on so on every repair order you're going to put inspect and report on all drive
belts okay that's the concern that should be on there every single time so concern cause what's
what is the cause of whatever number of problems so say you have five items those are five concerns
one being i want my accessory belts checked and reported on for condition and serviceability
so concern cause causes diagnostic time here's where i say don't leave the gate open the cows
are going to get out all right you tell them and give them and authorize one hour one hour of
dyag time i don't care if you have two items or five items on there of concerns each item that is
of concern is a separate entity on the work order make sure it's written down and look at it because
a lot of service advisors would never get a warranty claim to go in because their work orders are
incomplete and i don't mean that as a derogatory comment it's just you know what the proof is in
the pudding concerns all listed cause dyag time you're authorizing one hour then a report
then a report and if more time is needed you give them one more hour don't give them
carte blanche that's where the five o'clock surprise comes it's how much what you can't stop
breathing in so concern cause correction you also want on the work orders what is it going to
take to fix it and what is the total of all the components for all the items that i have on the
work order you want to know the cost what are all the parts that are going that it's going to take
to get the vehicle right lastly here's where you come in because this is the part that always gets
left off the confirmation i want my vehicle road tested to verify it's fixed and you have them right
that right on the work order then you sign it not until if you don't have helped them put the work
order together then you're what we cut say on the farm if you leave the gate open the cows won't
be there tomorrow morning to milk they'll all be outside you know we gotta round them up and it
takes hours yeah and they could already be dropping their milk on the driveway that's right so a work
order is exactly the same you leave the gate open then you know what there's a good opportunity for
you to be taken advantage of and for money to fly out of your wallet like a bunch of moths with
their tail fins on fire so that's about wrapping it up for this edition of car connection workshop

Have you ever been frozen out of your own vehicle before in winter? tell us about it!
Winter freeze-ups can lock you out faster than a weld bead cooling on steel. In todays Car Connection Workshop episode, Motormouth breaks down two essential freeze-out prevention hacks every driver needs before the temps drop overnight.
We're talking:
1) Heavy - duty silicone spray on all door and entry seals-stop rubber from freezing tighter than a welding rod.
2) PB Blaster in locks , hinges and tumblers-the locksmith approved defence against frozen cylinders and snapped door handles. ( And no...they still don't pay for the show. yet.)
