Winter driving can be challenging, but Niall Motormouth Jenkins shares essential hacks to prevent freeze-outs. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining your vehicle's cabin air filter and provides two key tips: lubricate door locks and hinges with PB Blaster, and treat door seals with heavy-duty silicone spray to prevent them from freezing shut. With a mix of humor and practical advice, Niall also discusses the significance of checking accessory drive belts during maintenance to avoid costly repairs. Tune in for a blend of automotive wisdom and light-hearted banter.
Have you ever been frozen out of your own vehicle before in winter? tell us about it!
Winter freeze-ups can lock you out faster than a weld bead cooling on steel. In todays Car Connection Workshop episode, Motormouth breaks down two essential freeze-out prevention hacks every driver needs before the temps drop overnight.
We're talking:
1) Heavy - duty silicone spray on all door and entry seals-stop rubber from freezing tighter than a welding rod.
2) PB Blaster in locks , hinges and tumblers-the locksmith approved defence against frozen cylinders and snapped door handles. ( And no...they still don't pay for the show. yet.)
With today's keyless - entry world, we get lazy about using the key-until a thaw-and-freeze cycle turns your doors into Fort Knox. this episode will save seals, save handles, and save headaches. Good morning Niagara. You're tuned to car connection where the coffee's hot, the
tools are ready, and the talk is always tuned up. I'm your host, Niall
Motormouth Jenkins here, coming to you straight from the car connection
workshop where we mix a little humor, a little know-how, and a whole lot of
horsepower. Here it's not just about fixing cars, it's about keeping you
rolling and saving you money, and giving you the confidence to understand
what's under that hood. From the classics, to the commuters, the weird noises, to the
what the heck moments, we've got you covered. So grab your coffee, and remember
if you're just pulling out of the drive-thru, or just pulling in, check
your order before you hit the road. I'm just saying, you'll want to check it
twice. So sit back, grab your cup of coffee from the takeout window, stuff it
into the cup holder, make sure it's locked and secure, we don't want any
accidents, and keep an eye on the road, and watch out for the other guy, because
we know who the other guy is. Am I right? And join the crew this morning, because
this is Car Connection, your Monday through Saturday morning pit stops for
stories, smarts, a few good laughs, and I'm Niall Mortarbaugh Jenkins, and we're
shifting right into drive this morning, so welcome aboard. Thanks for having me,
and inviting me into your world, as I invite you into my own. That can be a
scary place, I'm telling you. Just a couple of seconds, and you'll need
counseling, no doubt about it. Some kind of counseling, extra cup of coffee, maybe
two donuts today, side order of muffins, and a bag of chips. Why not? You know, life
is uncertain, eat dessert first. Well, in just a few minutes, if you're just
joining us for the very first time, you can catch all our iHeart broadcasts, our
podcast, actually, podcasts on all platforms, Spotify, Apple, thing or thing
of me, Amazon Music, and all the other platforms that you pull your podcast
from, just put in the search bar, Car Connection Workshop, and we're right
with you every single time. All our podcasts are archived on our website,
which we've had for many years. Well, we've had a number of websites, 31 years on
radio, and heading into 2026, just on podcast, so we can reach north, south,
east, and west without any boundaries. No roads, no boundaries. That's right,
gotten away from radio for 31 years, didn't sign my contract back in early
November. I was a little bit nervous about that, cutting the umbilical cord,
umbilical cord, or ignition wire, whatever you want to call it, but I'm getting
used to it, and I like this a whole lot better because it's a lot freer, and I
have more time to talk with you, and share with you, and you can connect and
find all our links and our merchandise stores so that you can be part of the
motormouth crew. When you buy merchandise off our website at carconnectionbusinessnetwork.com,
the short form is CCBusNet. I include all of the links and how you find us, where you find us,
what's going on, is all in the description of the podcast and our YouTube videos, so we got a
pretty decent YouTube channel going, and you're welcome to come and join us there. Like, subscribe,
follow, share, and ring the notification bell so that you're notified when new videos come out,
and they do every single week, two on Tuesday, one on Friday, so three per week. They're all
teaching you, ladies, and single moms, and gents, and whoever you are, seniors, widows, five things,
to prevent you from being ripped off at the service center, because the more you know
and understand about your car, the better it is for you. Let me tell you, you've got some smarts,
and don't let all your cards come out and on the table all at once, ladies, fellas, fellas.
Five things, what it is, where it is, how it works, how it breaks, and what could you have learned
through our videos, through our podcasts, to help you get a better understanding of your automobile
and the components that make it up that would save you money. So again, what the part is,
where it's located, what it does, and how it breaks, and I'll even include like what it costs,
but there's a lot of items on your automobile that we've covered in the last four or five months
on our YouTube channel, we've been up and running not quite a year yet, we got probably another
five, six months to go, that the more you learn from our videos, the more you're armed and dangerous
when you go to the repair shop, because you know the language, you know the components, and you know,
as I said before, if you're just tuning in for the first time, the basics on automobiles never
change, never change, how components work is what changes, but their function is still the same,
so whether you, if you watch our 1997 Jeep TJ Wrangler Sport Rescue, we rescued it from the
crusher, it was sent to us to put it back on the road, and you know the structural integrity of
vehicles, good, I do have some floor repair to do only because the windshield was leaking and it
went through the first layer of the floor, but that could have been prevented by changing out the
windshield and the rotted out windshield frame, and you get to see that, those kinds of things
on our YouTube channel, so the heater system in there, we're working on that right now,
because we're inside the car, we've changed the brakes, we've done brakes front and back,
u joints, suspension and steering components, shocks, front and rear, we put another engine in it,
and we go through that whole process and show you how it's done, what we're looking at,
and where we're going, how we're going to get there, and it took us a few months to find a
pre-owned engine, but thanks to a couple of my Jeepster friends, I'm not a Jeepster myself,
this is the first one I've actually really torn apart, and I've learned a lot about them,
they really are built like a piece of crap, I'm just saying, but that's what my Jeepster's friends
say, you know they're rough and tough and tumble, that's what they are, you build it to make it your
own, you take it out, you work it, you run it, you rock climb, you go in the mud, you go in the
forest, when I'm done I'm just going to use it to go to my wood lot to haul firewood, take the trailer
in, take the splitter in, bring it out instead of using my FJ, because that's a vehicle that you
just can't replace, and I use it a lot for daily driving as well, so I like to keep it super clean.
So anyways, following us on YouTube is going to teach you a lot, and right here on our podcast is
I cover different topics, if there's anything that you would like me to cover, go to our website,
send me an email, all the links to connect with me, and there's also email addresses for me there,

Stevensvilleontheweb.ca, I'm very, very attached to businesses that live in my pops-owned backyard,
he's been there 42 years, Stevensville, great eateries, wonderful family-owned and operated
businesses there, it's just a quaint little town that has a lot to offer, and I love being a part
of that, so they invited me in to their business website, and it's great to be there, Stevensville
on the web.ca, click on the businesses tab, and it'll open my profile page there, and you'll see
bloopers and outtakes that you won't see anywhere else, and there is also an email portion there for
you to connect with me, that's where you'll find also the iHeartRadio link, so that you can just
click, and you're with us, just like that, so we have quite a few podcasts up there already,
doing a podcast six days a week, Monday through Saturday for you, so you get lots of information,
but not like sucking on a fire hose, that's like way too much information, yeah, math class was like
that, college was like that for motor vehicle mechanics and service tech, yeah, I was, you know,
four-hour exams pretty much all the time, yeah, that's why I have to have somebody spell my name
for me and name tag, yeah, burned out quite a few gray cells, yeah, but Mohawk College, great
college to learn any trades, fantastic, because it's not gravy, you got to know your stuff,
so any hose, we're going to have a swiggy in just about one minute here, whatever your favorite
morning beverage is, we're going to raise a cup, count it down three two one, have a swiggy
together, how about that, so get it ready, I'll buy you some time for so you can get organized,
so visit our website when you buy some merch off of our store, which is also in the top right
right hand corner of our homepage, ccbusnet.com, all the podcasts are archived on our website in
the archive department, and when you buy some merch and be part of the motormouth crew, show it off,
and you're helping someone with an addiction to get to the Total Freedom Campus in Darien
Center, New York, whether you're Canadian or American, you can get there, that's for men and
ladies, the Total Freedom Campus in Canada is men only, that's in Sydney, Manitoba, Canada,
facilitators Rick and Robin, and they both are graduates and have received their new life and
got out of their addiction, and they have quite the testimony of both of them, that's husband and
wife team, the testimonial will make you cry for hours, and that's the guys, yeah, you don't need
a chick flick for that, just listen to their testimonials, so if you or somebody you know
is going through an addiction, we want to help, and that's how we can help, through our YouTube
channel, the whole purpose of that channel is to get monetized as quick as we can, so like and
subscribe, leave a comment, ring the notification bell, all those things help the algorithms to
find us and push us out into bigger and bigger markets, the sooner we get monetized on our podcast
and also on our YouTube channel, it will help us to help others, the whole purpose is to help
widows, orphans, single moms, and those who are just, you know what, they're really down on their
luck, things are going bad and it's sucking with a capital K, with a T on the end, we want to be
able to pay for the parts, get permission to shoot the videos, and give them a hand up, that's the
whole purpose, I've said before, I don't need another shiny thing, I'm very content with what I
have, I love working on automobiles, we have some really cool stuff coming up in the summer of 2026,
our hope is to give away a muscle car every single summer, so when you have to get monetized, I have
Monte Carlo SS set aside, that is going to be our first muscle car that will be offered by Raffles,
so you have to buy tickets, it'll get to the car shows in the local areas and you'll be able to
get tickets there for your chance to win, so we really need your help and that's where you can
help us, buy the merch, support the podcast, let your family friends and neighbors go to
know and go and push us out and be part of our car connection crew, get on our YouTube channel
and be a die-hard groupie, that's what I'm saying, you've got to be a YouTube groupie for us,
leave a comment, hit the notification bell and share us, follow us, all those things
you can do to help us get where we want to be because the sole purpose is to take your eyes
off yourself and help someone else, you know, you know what's the best kind of medicine when
you're kind of feeling crappy, you feel lower than a snake's belly and worse than a bag of hammers
and a crump, you know, a million bucks all crumpled up, you ever been there, help somebody,
just help somebody, that day, you know what, buy the guy or gal's breakfast meal or sandwich and
coffee behind you when you get up to the window, just say you know what, I want to pay for that,
whoever that is behind me, I want to pay for whatever they ordered and just pay for it and
watch how your day turns around, if it costs you 20 bucks to pull yourself up out of that
petty party or whatever it is you're going through, to take your eyes off yourself for
a few minutes, it's fabulous, you know what, when it's summertime and I've built a couple of
new beetle convertibles, restored them and we bring them out to the cruise events and let the kids
have their picture taken, most of the moms, they push the kids out of the way, no, no, this is me,
let me get in there, but we let the kids get in one at a time and have their pictures taken,
you know what, I can have the crappiest day or week going, I'll hop in my 2003 snap orange,
we call her orange crush, beetle convertible, go topless, cruise down the Niagara Parkway,
the Boulevard, all the way into Niagara Falls along, you know, because we live along in the
studios along the south shores of Lake Erie, just beautiful area, you know what, I just put my coolest
hat on in my shades and go for a small cruise down the parkway all the way through Niagara Falls,
Lundy's Lane out along towards Niagara on the lake, grab a cup of Joe and you know what,
I feel so much better, man alive, try that sometime, get you some of that, you're really
feeling bad and feeling low, just go for a cruise, put some of your favorite music on,
go along the waterfront, excuse me, still suffering this winter, whatever, I think I
need a fuel injection flush, that'll take care of it, sorry about that, if that was your ears,
anyhow, it's reality, I find that just works for me, try it sometime, you know you're feeling
kind of poopy, get in your car, grab a cup of Joe, hot chocolate, whatever, and just put some really
nice music on and go for a little cruise, watch what happens to your attitude, because remember
your altitude is determined by your attitude, absolutely, that's what we need to do all the
time, all right, let's jump into our morning coffee, you ready, on three, two, one, I'm counting
it down for you, three, two, one, man that's really good, that's a little hotter than yesterday,

it's been a challenge, but you know what, it's my first day without having to take
a Tylenol, so we're bonusing right there, we're bonusing, absolutely, I'll take it,
still just starting to eat a little bit of harder food, that's what's on the regiment from the
Maxio Facial dentist, yeah, did a great job, what a team, what a team, absolutely, upper James,

up into nice squares so you can unfold it and take more notes, if you're driving, hand it to your
passenger, if not you'll have to re-listen, when you get home you can do that very very easily,
just go on to iHeartRadio or just type it into whatever platform you're pulling your podcast
from, car connection workshop and you'll be all set, all right, motor mouth's winter tech tip
number 33, don't forget the cabin air filter because if it's clogged, your defrost and heat
will blow weaker than your new year's resolutions, I mean that, you know what I mean, exactly, so
if you want really good defrost and lots of blow or if you're, it sounds like you got lots of blow
but no go, not much is coming out at the floor in the center dash into the defrost, you may want
to have somebody take a real good look and this is what I say, if I have to go in and look at your
cabin filter, you're getting a new one because I'll tell you what, there is a video, we did back in
October I think it was, 2008 Nissan Rogue and I'll tell you, I think I created
a yoga move, I really do, yeah, you know what the hardest most difficult yoga move is?
The swan, have you ever seen it performed? I looked, I go, no, that, no, not at all,
not even going to attempt that but I'll tell you what, I think I invented an even better yoga move,
getting that cabin air filter out of that 2008 Nissan Rogue and it needed to come out,
there was a freaking melted chocolate in there, two of them, it was gross, how they got in there,
I don't know, the wrapper was still there but the chocolate was all, looked like a mushroom,
I'm thinking what the heck is that, I've never seen that before, leaves and debris and hair and
whatnot, anyhow I vacuumed it all out, all that is captured on a YouTube video on our YouTube
