00:27
Hey, Jeremy, you know those race cars you're busy building?
00:34
I got one that I'm looking at every day.
00:36
You know what I don't see you working on?
00:40
You don't see me working on the amazing Sentinel system yet.
00:45
It would take all of my life.
00:47
It would take all of my life.
00:49
It would take all of my life.
00:51
It would take all of my life.
00:53
It would take all of my life.
00:56
It would take all of 10 minutes for you to have one.
00:59
And it's very quick and easy to install.
01:04
And we could watch you when we are not at the race with you and see how you're doing.
01:09
And then we can call you up when you get out of the car and tell you everything you did wrong.
01:13
And I love that because so many years I've been driving and not been able to see what I'm doing.
01:21
What I have to do with the video, my most favorite thing is I take the video and I load it on YouTube.
01:27
And then I send it to my coach and say, look at 26 minutes and 17 seconds.
01:32
Look at this one lap and tell me what I can do better.
01:34
And every single time, you know what they say?
01:42
So with the Sentinel system, you get instantaneous feedback plus useful feedback that unfortunately
01:50
accurate for my driving.
01:52
I think it's accurate for all of our driving.
01:56
That's probably true.
01:58
But you need to get one in your car, sir.
02:01
And with the discount code that you're going to tell everybody they can save 10% on this
02:10
I haven't had an issue getting video every time we've gone out with the Sentinel.
02:14
It's always worked.
02:15
Can't say the same for some of the other systems we've tried.
02:19
On the podcast notes down there.
02:22
Don't do it while you're driving though.
02:24
We'd like to have our listeners live.
02:28
Who hoped to one day be the world's greatest driving heroes created from the cosmic legends
02:34
of the universe comes our team captain, the vision, Bill Fisher.
02:40
And there soon to be Wonder Woman, Vicki Fisher and our captain Marvel and head
02:46
flight trainee Jennifer script.
02:50
Their mission to fight injustice, share what is right and wrong to get you out of your house
02:57
and come out racing with them and serve all mankind.
03:01
They are the garage heroes in training team.
03:07
Welcome to the garage heroes and training podcast.
03:10
I'll be one of our hosts for this episode.
03:12
Who else is hosting?
03:14
We have somebody as a guest who might as well be a host.
03:18
He's raced with us.
03:19
He did a thing a couple of weeks ago.
03:27
So this is the mental, the inside the mental mind of one of our teammates who may not,
03:36
you know, remember us back when, you know, after what he did.
03:40
He's like, you know, I've been doing this for a long time.
03:43
You know, I've been trying real hard.
03:45
I've been putting out a lot of effort.
03:47
I've been, I've been banging my wall, my head against this wall, banging my wall against
03:51
this head, whichever.
03:55
I really just want to win.
03:56
You know what I got to do?
03:57
I got to ditch those garage heroes and training and upgrade and get some real teammates.
04:00
And that's what I did.
04:04
Welcome back to the podcast.
04:10
So, so Ryan, let's start off exactly where you were.
04:18
You were born in a very young age.
04:19
I went to 24 hours of lemons race at Thompson Motor Speedway in Connecticut.
04:24
This is a little over a week now.
04:28
I went as an arriving drive driver with the varying cream motorsports.
04:31
Although I've done now three races in a row with these guys.
04:34
So I hope I'm a little bit more than an arriving driver.
04:40
I had a really great run with them.
04:44
I mean, I ran with them.
04:46
Thompson last year was the first time.
04:48
And I just like complete flu because my team kind of bailed on me for the team that I
04:52
was supposed to drive with bailed on me.
04:54
And now we're here.
04:57
Oh, so Thompson is notorious.
05:02
Notorious for its weather.
05:08
It was the one weekend.
05:10
What was the weather like outside?
05:11
If anybody doesn't know Thompson.
05:13
It was it was in the fifties at night.
05:15
So you actually need to do the sweatshirt or like, what the heck is this?
05:18
And you know, he brings a sweatshirt.
05:24
So if anybody doesn't know Thompson in in August, August, right?
05:31
It is it is majority of the time it is miserable.
05:36
It is so freaking hot.
05:38
The air doesn't move wickedly humid that part of part of race prep while you're there
05:46
and managing is just managing body temperature.
05:50
It's it's pretty rough.
05:51
And this was the one weekend that we didn't attend.
05:54
It happened to be gorgeous weather.
06:00
You can't pay for weather like that at Thompson.
06:07
No, there was times that when we were at Thompson, I've actually seen other teammates
06:12
showering themselves in the rain with a bar.
06:16
So I saw them in the parking lot.
06:20
I think actually I think it was a libertarians.
06:24
Yeah, I think it was Lamentarians.
06:26
So I mean, that's that's really kind of I wouldn't put it past.
06:32
At least, you know, if they had clothes on in the shower, I mean, in the rain
06:36
shower or something.
06:39
So Mr. Suska, this wasn't your first race.
06:43
Care to guess how many you've done?
06:45
Well, I know how many I've done.
06:47
And I know I've spent a lot of money and converted it into, you know,
06:51
burnt up tires and noise.
06:54
Done 30 lemons races now.
06:59
If you count AER and champ and AER and Lucky Dog races.
07:05
That doesn't seem right.
07:07
I thought I did more non lemons with you than that already.
07:10
We did AER and we did.
07:13
We did Lucky Dog at CMP.
07:16
We did AER pit race.
07:20
And then I did an AER run with Mr. Pete and his Civic this year.
07:26
It just seemed like you had more than that.
07:28
So, so 30 something races.
07:33
Tired of being held down by those garage heroes and training and your
07:37
And you decided to, you know, excuse me, I'm going to use my
07:41
lemons airline miles and I'm going to upgrade and get some
07:44
people who actually know how to drive.
07:46
Job well done, sir.
07:49
I was, I won't say it's a fluke.
07:51
It was a well-prepared car.
07:54
It is a pile of spare parts.
07:56
It is a franking car.
07:59
It's not even a franking car.
08:01
It's just, it is a car built on no money built on other race
08:05
teams' spare parts.
08:06
These dudes got lucky.
08:08
They've got used diffs online, diff from somebody.
08:12
I think they bought, they got some used springs and they
08:15
bought some Bilstein struts and shocks for it.
08:19
Got some wheels off another team.
08:21
Got some unknown sway bars off another team, you know, cobbled
08:24
together their own diff cooler.
08:26
And that's a, and it's got a really nice exhaust on it.
08:29
And that's about all the car has.
08:31
It's nothing fancy.
08:32
And it's just a bunch of FCP Euro parts for warranty stuff.
08:36
It's, it's crazy how, how little they have into the car
08:39
and how dialed it was that we, that weekend.
08:43
Well, as anybody who's competed in one nose, you know,
08:48
driving a good car is, is only part of it.
08:51
Having good drivers is only part of it.
08:53
There's a whole lot of other stuff that goes into it.
08:56
And you know, we've only won, I mean, we're not at your level,
09:00
We've only won class victories and, and, and dress up victories
09:03
and, and you screwed up victories.
09:05
We haven't ever won overall.
09:07
So does it stay the same?
09:09
Is it still just, you know, as Jeff Wakeman once put it,
09:12
you know, getting everything right is still only a lottery ticket.
09:17
We went out, we were second place on Sunday.
09:21
Went out and it was a slow and mellow Ethan John up front.
09:25
And we were, we were going back and forth all, all night,
09:28
Saturday, Saturday night and a little bit on Sunday morning.
09:31
They were hemming and hauling about who they were sending out.
09:33
And my team knew that, oh, we're going to send Ryan out.
09:35
I'm like, okay, that's cool. Great. I appreciate it.
09:39
And Ethan finally said, yeah, I'm going to go.
09:41
I'm like, well, good luck, Van.
09:43
Let's go have some fun, right?
09:44
Cause it's all going to come down to luck, right?
09:46
Cause that's all it's ever going to be one wreck, one bad move
09:49
and your wife out for the weekend, traffic, whatever.
09:52
Yeah. And, and unfortunately they, uh, they lost a hub
09:57
about an hour into the race and, and they got it,
10:00
they got it fixed and they were back out and like no time,
10:03
but I think they finished in fifth or sixth place,
10:06
something like that.
10:07
I'm still really good, but yeah, I was unfortunate.
10:10
Him and I had, uh, oh,
10:13
the best battle I've ever had in my life. Um,
10:17
it was a race within a race and it was just,
10:21
it was really cool when you can push yourself that hard
10:24
and you know the guy you're racing with and you know that
10:27
we're going to give each other the space to screw up a little bit
10:30
and, and not be upset if we, you know, bump and tap
10:33
and do a few little things here and there.
10:35
Um, no bumping and tapping actually happened,
10:37
but we, we, we left nothing.
10:41
Out on the track and it was everything our cars had,
10:44
uh, for about an hour.
10:46
I passed him once and then he got me back and then stayed
10:49
in front of me, but I was all over his rear bumper as long
10:53
as I could be for an hour and it was amazing.
10:56
That sounds like fun.
10:57
Was it more exciting than when the trailing arm stuck
10:59
into the ground going across the kink at CMP?
11:02
Well, I mean, it's a different level of exciting.
11:06
You know, one is like, oh my God, this is amazing.
11:08
That was like, oh my God, I'm going to die.
11:10
Um, yeah, that's a, that's a really good way to launch
11:13
your car in the air.
11:15
So luckily we did not have that issue, but, uh, it
11:19
could have been a whole lot worse, but so, so you've
11:24
raced with your own team.
11:26
You've raced with a couple of, actually a couple of your
11:29
own teams, I guess would be the better way to put it.
11:31
And I rebuilt my team twice.
11:34
Three versions of my team.
11:36
He raced with some idiots.
11:38
They would have a podcast and talk a lot about racing, but
11:41
don't really do anything with those guys.
11:43
And then you raced with this team.
11:45
So what have you learned?
11:46
What, what has Obi-Wan learned over the years, being a
11:51
champion of lemons overall, not even like a piece, the
11:57
What have you learned that you would, that you would
12:00
look back on to, to young Ryan or perhaps a friend
12:04
of yours who says, Hey, I want to get into this
12:11
Um, racing is, it is extremely hard.
12:17
Um, not, not just the racing and not just being at
12:21
It is, it is a hard lifestyle to have.
12:24
I mean, especially, you know, for me, right?
12:26
When I first, when I, my first race was like three
12:29
weeks before I got married.
12:30
Um, and then through having kids and home
12:33
renovations and work and it's, it's a hard thing to
12:36
keep up a hobby like racing.
12:38
Um, to anyone, just be prepared.
12:44
Like you, you're going to have to make sacrifices
12:47
Like, you know, you might not get to travel as
12:48
often as you want, or you might not have, you
12:50
know, the nicest daily driver because you spend
12:52
all of your money on your race car and things
12:56
Um, just know what is important to you.
13:00
And if it is racing, understand that things are
13:03
going to have to go by the wayside.
13:05
I mean, obviously you're going to have to make,
13:06
they can choose like, you know, I try and almost
13:08
put my kids in front of racing.
13:09
I will admit Thompson weekend.
13:11
It was my son's birthday at the same time.
13:13
I was racing when it was on my son's birthday,
13:15
but my wife came down with the kids, right?
13:18
And we still had a good time.
13:20
They got to see, they got to see me race.
13:22
We got to go do pizza and, you know, ice cream
13:24
and mini golf and separate from the track,
13:26
but it was a sacrifice I had to make.
13:28
Um, cause that race isn't all that often.
13:30
It just happened to line up with my son's birthday.
13:32
Not everyone would pick that, uh, going that route in life.
13:35
So it's, you have to understand what your priorities are
13:38
and, and stick to your guns is the, the,
13:41
the biggest thing I can, I can tell anyone.
13:44
Yeah, balancing everything and trying to be,
13:47
you can try to be good at racing or you can try
13:50
to be good at everything else, but trying to be
13:53
good at both will suck you dry.
13:59
It's, it's just, you know, commitment.
14:03
I mean, part of the reason why I've had to rebuild my team
14:06
twice is I've had, you know, teammates who've,
14:08
they've taken their career route, right?
14:11
That, that is, that is the thing that defines them,
14:13
their work, their career, and they couldn't put
14:16
the time into the car.
14:17
And I'm like, Hey buddy, you know, I love you.
14:20
I love racing with you, but if the work is the
14:23
thing you're going to pick, it's time for us
14:26
to go different ways because there's a car here
14:28
and there's other teammates that want to do this
14:31
and, and you're, you're kind of dragging us all down with you.
14:36
I think the, the one thing that I always count on,
14:38
cause you know, we started this much older than you
14:43
and most people actually, but the one thing I can
14:47
count on, you know, not a hundred percent,
14:50
but you know, high, high percentage is when
14:53
the family starts, like, especially when the kids
14:56
are little, little racing is so hard.
15:00
You need a rock, an undeniable rock or a lunatic
15:05
who also races to be, you know, your partner
15:09
to, to even think about going to the track again
15:12
for, so there's this little.
15:14
He's the undeniable rock.
15:26
So, so there was a bunch of people who didn't go.
15:30
I mean, obviously we didn't go, but they were never
15:32
competing for overall anyway.
15:35
It was surprising how many teams weren't there.
15:39
Who were the overdogs for this weekend?
15:41
Obviously Sloan Mella, for sure.
15:43
Sloan Mella was up there.
15:46
I'll, I'll take it a little detour.
15:48
So we go up to the judges and Judge Janice
15:51
and Judge Manny are there talking with us.
15:54
Adam, one of the teammate team,
15:56
guys on the team is talking with him and he's being coy.
16:00
And they're asking, oh, how about you?
16:01
Oh, you know, we did, we did pretty well.
16:03
You know, we don't have a fuel cell.
16:05
So we can't go as long as the teams that are typically
16:07
in top 10 and, you know, being kind of, kind of,
16:11
And they keep asking how well we did in the last race
16:14
and now we're did okay.
16:15
You know, kind of things could have been better.
16:19
Finally, they really need to just like, how'd you do?
16:22
We got second in the last race.
16:26
You didn't pull the one card I like to pull.
16:29
It's like, you know, we don't come to limits to compete.
16:32
I honestly don't even remember.
16:35
So they go to us, they go to us.
16:37
You know, the winers were tired of them winning.
16:42
You guys, they gave them the Bavarian cream.
16:46
We got, we got Bavarian cream donuts
16:48
dip in Springfield and outside of Springfield,
16:50
which is the tuition out there.
16:52
So they were very happy with that bribe.
16:54
And they said, uh, whatever you do,
16:57
you better make this race.
16:59
And gave us a zero and let us walk zero.
17:04
We made the next, the second day.
17:06
Interesting for sure.
17:07
I was going to say that.
17:08
It was a lot of sizing in the top, in the top five.
17:12
So it was a Sloan mellow was up there.
17:14
Both of the Johnston's motor sports FRS's were up there.
17:18
Hit him with the Heim like back and forth and back and forth.
17:20
And they ended up breaking.
17:23
I saw them on Saturday a lot.
17:27
who else was up there?
17:29
Man, I'm drawing a blank right now.
17:32
But what fun would that be?
17:33
I hate looking stuff up on the podcast.
17:37
It was a, it was a,
17:39
some usual suspects up there,
17:41
but definitely some,
17:42
some different guys up front this year.
17:45
because they were at, I mean, you guys for one,
17:48
Lamentarians weren't there with their cars.
17:52
three pedal was a one car.
17:53
Three pedal was a, yeah.
17:54
Three pedal was running one car.
17:56
No, no Tauley RX seven.
18:00
the guys with the metal and Tegra, they weren't there.
18:05
I have run with this guy, Jim McGuire.
18:07
And he's up in the, the Glamping.
18:11
I just didn't have to.
18:14
I just didn't have cars together this year.
18:18
That gave you guys an edge.
18:20
There was only 96 cars,
18:22
which is unheard of.
18:23
Thompson's usually 115 plus.
18:26
Usually 120 is kind of the rock out.
18:29
There was paddock space this year.
18:30
We're like, wow, like stretched out.
18:32
Like we aren't packed up around the garage.
18:34
She's like, this is weird.
18:38
could you take a deeper dive on the car that you were driving?
18:45
I'm going to get caught up on this.
18:52
It's got a OBD 1, 3,
18:57
With just a basic intake and a basic exhaust.
19:02
Um, big radiator because BMWs have crappy cooling systems.
19:05
Um, stock stock transmit stock manual transmission,
19:10
upgraded diff with a diff cooler.
19:12
Um, like I said, struts and springs,
19:14
some unknown sway bars.
19:16
And running 245, uh,
19:20
Other than that, that's about it.
19:22
It's done up to, uh, it's the old, uh,
19:24
Listerine car from, oh man.
19:26
Was it the British touring car series?
19:30
It was a delivery from back in the early 90s.
19:33
And it was a team that was infamous for,
19:36
it was drugs and something else that they were known for.
19:38
So they, they, they,
19:42
They told me the whole story and I, I,
19:45
it's slipping my mind, but we, you know, had the,
19:49
our getup is the nineties.
19:50
I did this wind suits, right?
19:53
the pale greens and purples and right.
19:55
It was, it's quite a look when you go through,
19:58
you go through tech.
20:00
So did your vehicle perform?
20:02
Was it butts and seats all the whole time?
20:04
Or did you have any issues?
20:06
It was butts and seats.
20:08
And then Ryan had to,
20:09
Ryan had to drag out some work math.
20:11
Um, we were having enough.
20:13
We're having nothing, but if, yeah,
20:14
we were having nothing but issues with the diff cooler.
20:16
So the, the diff cooler uses the factory fill and drain
20:21
And you replace the plugs with, with just these,
20:24
they're supposed to be cross-washer to A N.
20:28
They, you know, they're a younger team.
20:31
They're learning, right?
20:32
There's, there's a certain, uh,
20:34
pay to play and they're like, well,
20:36
we can get away with these O-ring style ones.
20:38
Well, the O-rings don't like being crushed.
20:41
They get, they get crushed and then they split
20:43
and then they start leaking.
20:44
So Friday after practice,
20:46
it is the whole bottom of the cars coated in gear oil.
20:52
That was like half a quart in a like a two,
20:55
two and a half quart system.
20:57
Found some O-rings that we thought might work.
21:00
Slammed it all together.
21:03
Or Teflon taped the threads.
21:05
Slam the whole thing together.
21:07
Come down at the end of the race the next day.
21:12
I almost failed again.
21:15
And it had again that same like half a quart.
21:18
We're on the vertical.
21:20
you just see it a crush washer, right?
21:23
you needed a fitting that was made for a crush washer.
21:26
This fitting was made for an O-ring.
21:29
So they bought the fittings that were like $10.
21:32
They needed to buy the $50 fittings.
21:35
I came with the O-rings and they,
21:37
now they're like, God, okay.
21:38
I see why you have to pay the money.
21:42
so Saturday ends again,
21:44
there's like barely any fluid in the thing.
21:46
And you could just feel it's like nuclear,
21:48
nuclear level hot when it came off the track.
21:52
Teflon tape on the threads,
21:56
and then we just coated
21:58
the outsides of the fittings in as much permatex as we could
22:01
and attempt to keep them sealed up.
22:03
It's only five hours.
22:05
So that was like, yeah, it's only five hours.
22:07
It's got to make it.
22:09
And then I get out of the car midday.
22:13
I ran like two hours,
22:15
45 or so in the car on Sunday.
22:17
So one stops or Sunday?
22:19
One stop for Sunday.
22:21
I get out of the car.
22:22
We go to put Andrew in the car
22:23
and Adam looks underneath the car
22:25
and he's like, it's wet all over.
22:30
He's like, it's, you know,
22:34
I'm like dying because of the race I just ran.
22:37
And he's talking to me.
22:38
He's like, there's probably like a solid 15 drips on the ground
22:42
in that three minutes.
22:43
And I'm like, all right, let me take a drink.
22:47
You're talking to a guy who specializes in oil
22:51
So 30 drips is in a CC.
22:54
You had 15 drips in three minutes.
22:59
Let's factor in for uncertainty.
23:00
So I did the math and I'm like, okay.
23:02
So this says that in five hours, we're going to lose.
23:05
If I'm, if I'm, if I'm good,
23:07
we're going to lose like four tenths of a, of a court.
23:10
If I'm bad, we're going to lose like.
23:12
Nine tenths to maybe one court.
23:15
If I'm, if I'm not far off.
23:17
And I'm like, and it's a two and a half court system.
23:19
I think we're okay because Adam and Marcus were like,
23:22
they were like this close to pulling the car and.
23:26
I'm like, you have to do is fill it right.
23:28
But then you're dead.
23:32
Cause you have to take the,
23:33
you have to take the upper hose off the dip.
23:35
You have to fill the dip.
23:36
You have to put it back on.
23:37
You have to reseal it.
23:38
I'm like, and it's going to be insanely hot.
23:40
So you're not going to be able to touch it for five minutes.
23:42
So I'm like, so we're done.
23:43
If we come in, we're done.
23:44
So I did the math and I said, trust the math.
23:46
I do this every day.
23:47
You did it the day before.
23:49
I mean, we did it the day before.
23:51
They're like, yeah, okay.
23:53
And then we're like, we're not calling them in, right?
23:56
We're not calling them in.
23:57
We're going to sit there,
23:58
fingers crossed for the race.
24:01
he's coming in on the hook of shame or nothing.
24:03
Cause they were worried that the diff was going to just explode.
24:06
And I'm like, well, it's not going to explode.
24:08
Like the opinion bearing is going to get dry.
24:10
And then it's going to start how like,
24:12
and you're going to know something's starting to check out.
24:14
It's not just going to be fine.
24:15
And then just lock up and let go.
24:17
So it's going to be some indication.
24:20
opinion bearing stayed lubricated and we won the race.
24:23
So how much juice did they have to put in it after the race?
24:26
They didn't even check.
24:27
We threw it on the trailer.
24:32
Correct, correct fittings ordered.
24:36
That's a good plan.
24:39
Some places in racing,
24:40
you can save money in some places you should never save money.
24:44
And safety is the other for sure.
24:49
You have to, you know, don't get pooled noodles.
24:54
Get the real stuff.
24:56
Because pooled noodles aren't padding.
24:57
They feel like padding until you're in an accident.
24:59
And then it feels like a solid steel bar.
25:04
You know, just in case anybody was curious.
25:09
So what made this race different?
25:13
Was it circumstance?
25:15
Was it the way you guys rifted around the track?
25:20
Was it, you know, was it kind of everything?
25:23
Team players not there.
25:25
I'll put it this way.
25:27
One of the team, one of the guys said we were a bunch of,
25:31
of oddly shaped gears that all managed to fall into the right
25:35
place and everyone had a role and everything just happened to
25:41
So you're retiring after this?
25:42
You got your victory.
25:44
No, no, I'm currently trying to find a seat for,
25:48
I don't have one right now.
25:49
Cause those guys, those guys don't run with all four in Loudon.
25:52
Where'd they locate it out of?
25:54
Uh, they're a little over place.
25:56
Two are in Connecticut.
25:57
One's up, one's up in Massachusetts.
25:59
So I'm kind of in the middle of all of them.
26:01
So that happens to work out nice.
26:03
I mean, it's two hours.
26:06
They're, they're doing, one of them's traveling.
26:08
One of them's going to Germany for a couple of weeks.
26:10
So there's, there's some race money, you know,
26:12
another one just had a kid.
26:19
So they're, they're a few years behind me in terms of the pain of racing.
26:22
Uh, Adam is Adam's been racing about as long as I have,
26:25
he was racing with another team and then formed this team.
26:28
So he, he's, he's fully experienced.
26:33
It was, uh, we were very excited to see that you had one.
26:38
Um, we actually didn't know until late in the race,
26:41
who was on that team.
26:43
So it was like, oh, look, look who it is.
26:45
And then we saw your post after and it's like, okay,
26:47
time for a podcast.
26:48
So, you know, it doesn't take a whole lot for us to do a podcast.
26:53
No, no, it doesn't.
26:54
No, it's like, what are we going to talk about?
27:01
But I do have to say the, the, the, the,
27:06
the thinking of everyone on Facebook,
27:09
I could tell by how, how the length and how you're,
27:14
it was like winning the Oscar.
27:17
I'd like to think, but I do have to say,
27:19
I could just tell that that was a long time coming for you.
27:26
Quite, quite a long time.
27:28
Like I said, there were,
27:29
there were nights I was ready to give it up back in the,
27:32
yeah, 20, 2021 timeframe.
27:35
I was not that long ago.
27:37
I remember you were like,
27:40
I was, I was ready to give it up, but yeah,
27:44
you're being stupid enough to keep going, Ryan.
27:47
We never thought you were leaving.
27:49
I remember that the, um, your, your, the,
27:54
the one team that you had kind of blew up just in
27:57
Joan, just kind of blew up.
27:59
And that kind of sucked.
28:02
That's a definite kick in the teeth when it does.
28:06
It's like now what?
28:08
so do you have this internal drive to go win in the Miata now?
28:13
is that the scratch that needs to be itched or the,
28:16
I stayed up way too late.
28:20
as much as it pains me to admit it,
28:22
the Miata could never be competitive again in lemons.
28:25
If it stays the way it is.
28:28
the speed creep has just been too much since that car was
28:33
I built that car in 2014 now.
28:35
had that car, that car placed seventh at Thompson in
28:45
one of those years.
28:50
Then it's not seventh now though.
28:53
Seventh then is not seventh now by any means.
28:56
did an 11th or did a 15th at 11th and did a seventh at Thompson.
28:59
that car is built for Thompson.
29:03
it can't hang with the BMW.
29:04
It can't hang with the BMWs down the front straightaways or even,
29:07
even off the corners, right?
29:10
that car is built to be hurled into a corner at
29:14
inappropriate speeds that when you're running with the
29:17
rookie crowds that we're running with,
29:20
it's really hard to do that.
29:23
and the judge is kind of thrown upon it.
29:25
I mean, I get it, right?
29:27
that's why there aren't that many competitive Miata's and
29:31
I should say there have been,
29:33
but a lot of teams who do that,
29:36
are been politely asked to not come back or to refrain in that part
29:42
because that's when you have a momentum car,
29:44
that's how you have to drive it.
29:45
And unless you have a field of drivers that are used to that,
29:51
things are bound to happen.
29:52
I can't tell you how many times I've rebuilt the front bumper
29:54
on that car because of that.
29:59
fuel duration issues.
30:02
if you make the car faster,
30:06
you start to find other weak spots.
30:10
I've talked to a couple guys out in the Midwest
30:12
and out in California.
30:15
I think there's a magical combination to
30:16
give that car a little more power
30:18
and put a few or so in it.
30:20
And make it more competitive,
30:21
still keep the rest of the drive line the same.
30:25
keep the brakes the same.
30:28
it's the cost to entry right now.
30:32
I want to say completely rebuilt,
30:33
but I've got a guy who was a previous arrive in drive.
30:35
He's now decided to become a full fledged team member.
30:38
So we are actually slowly rebuilding the car.
30:42
bought in close trailer late last year.
30:44
And we've been going through that, getting it all ready.
30:46
And now we've switched gears to the car.
30:50
got some new coilovers on it.
30:52
We're redoing a lot of the body.
30:54
an absolutely awesome idea for theming.
30:57
I am not blowing it and saving it till next year when the car is,
31:01
when the car is ready.
31:04
we're just going to kind of pick up where it is,
31:05
make a couple of little improvements,
31:07
it needs a motor and a fuel cell to be on the podium.
31:12
a little help from the judges because,
31:15
they're not going to look upon a Miata that way and say,
31:22
there was a B class Miata this year.
31:33
Richard Petty racing experience.
31:44
I think with the speed creep,
31:45
that's appropriate.
31:51
but you're not an A for sure.
31:54
you're not an A when you have,
31:58
a good team and the car is well put together.
32:01
But 25 doesn't win.
32:02
25 doesn't win races.
32:05
It might not win B.
32:07
it probably won't win B actually.
32:11
I think the B winner was seventh.
32:13
It's usually top 10,
32:19
I mean there's been C cars that have won in top 10.
32:25
Pete Adams and his team,
32:27
they were poised to win,
32:29
And then they just got,
32:30
they got hit pretty hard by a C class car battling.
32:34
God knows what position he was coming around the outside and
32:38
they hit him and blew out the whole right rear corner of the
32:43
he was like 45 minutes at the end of the race,
32:45
leading by a couple of laps and gone.
32:49
He's been trying so hard with that,
32:51
That's that look thing.
32:53
Nothing you can do about it sometimes,
32:58
go for the maybe and then see if we'll see what happens.
33:08
before I switch to topics,
33:09
do you have anything else on this race?
33:12
I am kind of curious what else you've seen out there,
33:16
but I'm just curious about what I missed.
33:20
were there any good themes at this particular race?
33:26
I thought there were some pretty good NASCAR parodies.
33:30
There was a team with a Thunderbird that did the old,
33:33
Sterling Marlin course, except it was pores theme.
33:35
Oh, I sold that one.
33:38
that was pretty good.
33:39
The Richard Petty driving experience Miata,
33:41
they did the whole ode to the super bird,
33:43
super bird with the big wing and the paint.
33:46
they did that pretty good.
33:49
I was just there for,
33:57
not so much a theme,
33:58
but just some lemons,
34:09
it wasn't a tractor.
34:10
It was a mini bike,
34:11
pulling a golf cart,
34:13
pulling three lemons cars.
34:19
pulling them all up to grid because the motors couldn't be,
34:22
you can't start the engine.
34:24
that's lemons in a nutshell right there.
34:28
that was pretty cool.
34:30
thank you for updating me on what I missed because I did kind of miss the
34:35
you guys couldn't be there.
34:38
We don't go into weather is perfect.
34:40
We've missed two of these so far and the weather's been spectacular.
34:43
We go there and it's like 99 degrees and 99% humidity.
34:51
so you mentioned you got an enclosed trailer.
34:56
given that we've already had a podcast on what to do with RVs and what to do
35:01
what's Ryan doing with his trailer?
35:02
I know you're not leaving it in an empty box.
35:11
stripped all of the contact paper off the inside,
35:14
painted the whole interior.
35:17
Pulled the old roof vent out,
35:19
moved that up towards the nose of it.
35:22
So put the roof vent with the fan back in in the original location.
35:26
I put an AC unit off of the camper.
35:30
put in a full 16 foot awning on the,
35:33
on the passenger side of it.
35:35
I have a nice awning that,
35:39
it originally had a full DC system with a single plug to bring it
35:47
it had a single plug to run some like overhead lights and like one
35:52
and it had solar panels.
35:53
The solar panels got stolen when the previous.
35:56
someone stole solar panels off the roof for trailer.
35:58
That's like, that's impressive.
36:01
so because half that system was missing,
36:03
I stripped it all out and put in a bigger battery and I,
36:07
and the process of stripping out that camera for the AC unit,
36:10
I stripped the whole power system out of it.
36:12
So I grabbed the whole.
36:14
So now it's got a 30 amp camper plug on it.
36:16
So I have all the power to run the AC and a whole bunch of
36:22
and I have an AC to DC inverter and then a DC to AC inverter.
36:28
So I can make power of multiple ways.
36:34
Tail jacks built into the floor so I can put them down and
36:39
load the car without the trailer being attached to a truck,
36:41
which that's, that's nice.
36:43
Cause the trailer now doubles as my car storage.
36:46
So my car's not taken up the garage.
36:48
Um, so I can load the trailer.
36:51
the trailer only gets hooked up to a truck a couple of times a
36:53
year, but it's storage year round.
36:55
Um, see what else they do.
37:00
I cleaned the whole roof off,
37:06
a white silicone coating on the, on the roof of it.
37:10
To help seal it back up cause it started to have a couple of
37:13
leaks over the years.
37:15
that and keep it cooler cause white instead of a black roof
37:22
it was a one piece aluminum and it was,
37:24
it's just got that,
37:25
that dark gray shock.
37:30
it could get pretty righteously hot in there.
37:36
just going through it,
37:37
making sure the bearings are all good,
37:39
working on other little layering sins that I'm fixing from
37:42
previous owners and.
37:44
Yeah, we're doing that too.
37:45
Only we're not doing it cause we don't know how to do it.
37:47
We got somebody else doing it, but you know,
37:51
so are you going to have the,
37:53
the drive up ramp thing so you can work on the car in
37:56
the trailer with the car elevated or are you,
37:58
or are you staying planer?
38:00
So I got lucky with this one,
38:02
the previous owner put pockets in the floor.
38:05
So I've got four pockets that are like six by three ish.
38:10
So the floor panels lift up and they're about 18 inches deep.
38:13
So all my spare parts store under the floor,
38:16
under the car, which is really cool.
38:18
So I don't know if I'm going to build those ramps just because
38:21
like part of the ramp is to be able to store stuff underneath
38:25
I don't need that now.
38:27
that and it's a lightweight trailer.
38:29
It's only a 7,000 pound trailer.
38:34
So you're not going to go by L half way from Jeremy then?
38:37
Is that what you're saying?
38:39
I was never, I was never planning on buying L half way.
38:41
Never planning on buying L half way.
38:43
Rumor, rumor has it it might be for sale.
38:48
he's also talked about trying to go for a B class one and
38:52
He, he, he, he's, you know,
38:54
talked about maybe me, Nick and him in New Hampshire.
38:56
So I got to give him a call.
39:00
I haven't talked to Jeremy in months.
39:04
Uh, but I don't know.
39:06
He's, he keeps going back and forth with,
39:08
I got to get rid of it.
39:10
So somewhere in between.
39:15
so you got a new team.
39:16
Maybe you got to arrive and drive team.
39:19
that seems to be working pretty well for you.
39:23
You're going to try to do New Hampshire.
39:27
I think at least with my,
39:31
it's probably going to be like a one race a year car for right now
39:34
until I get a larger and more serious team underneath me.
39:39
so it'll probably be two,
39:41
maybe three arrive and drive drivers when we run it.
39:43
Uh, it's just this,
39:44
it's just this guy,
39:45
Rich and I that are running it right there, you know,
39:47
crewing it right now.
39:49
you know, we'll see.
39:50
Is that Thompson or is that Jersey or what are you thinking?
39:53
it kind of depends if things keep going well with the Bavarian cream
39:56
guys and I keep running with them and they do their normal Jersey Thompson.
39:59
Maybe the Miata becomes a Loudon car.
40:01
Listen to this guy.
40:03
if I win another overall with these guys,
40:07
you know, just, you know, one doesn't do it.
40:09
You know, that just,
40:10
you know, everyone's,
40:14
it's nice to be wanted.
40:16
I've been getting a lot of messages like,
40:17
Hey, you want to come around with me?
40:19
I can only afford to run with so many cars.
40:21
Is your car up to my standard once in a while?
40:24
Ask me to work on their,
40:25
their junk and race with them.
40:29
Those guys are crap.
40:30
Stay away from those guys.
40:32
They don't know what they're doing.
40:38
you didn't go to Thompson.
40:39
You, uh, your friend won.
40:42
are you the bad luck charm?
40:45
I just think he had a really great opportunity and he took it,
40:49
took it right to the,
40:50
and he took it and he ran with it.
40:55
I know that is so awesome.
41:00
it's been a long time coming, Ryan.
41:05
you are right when it comes to
41:13
time that you can actually be on the track.
41:17
You really got to make the punches work for you.
41:20
And it sound like you had a really good team this time.
41:27
They're a good group.
41:30
Awesome bunch of guys.
41:34
the background podcast crew that,
41:38
some people work with us a lot.
41:39
I send them out and say,
41:41
we're having Ryan on.
41:42
And sometimes they submit questions.
41:44
And this question comes in from,
41:48
I'm not going to say who the question is,
41:53
did you just decide to go win this?
41:55
Because you saw the lamino could.
41:57
So you figured anybody can win one of these.
42:03
but that was kind of it.
42:04
So future podcast guest again,
42:09
is that what happened?
42:10
You got motivated that you said,
42:11
if Tom can weigh enough,
42:13
what am I going to do?
42:15
Myself and the guys are like,
42:18
Tom's not going to be there.
42:21
he got screwed on parts.
42:24
He was running in the car.
42:25
He was running in his own.
42:28
he was got screwed on parts.
42:31
overnight parts from Japan are,
42:33
overnight parts from Bavaria.
42:38
he got screwed on that,
42:41
well Tom's not there to defend.
42:42
And they were like,
42:44
there's only 96 cars.
42:45
There's a whole bunch of good cars on here.
42:47
some of the better cars weren't there.
42:52
win is a win is a win.
42:53
You beat what was there.
42:56
Betty wasn't there.
42:59
If they don't drink the entire weekend,
43:08
so you're thinking New Hampshire,
43:13
If I find me a seat.
43:18
if anybody's looking for a driver who is,
43:20
one hell of a wrench,
43:23
probably better engineer than wrench.
43:27
if you just need something fixed,
43:30
But if you need something solved,
43:32
that is where we really bother Ryan.
43:37
It's about everything,
43:39
he only answers sometimes,
43:40
which again proves how smart he is.
43:50
I cannot even imagine what it would be like to win overall.
43:55
we're still looking for a B.
43:57
we've gotten C a couple of times,
43:58
but we've never gotten B.
44:00
I think A is easier than B.
44:04
you have to have the car
44:06
that slots in there,
44:09
So it's gonna flipped in A,
44:11
but really it's an A car.
44:14
it's gonna be hard to judge in here,
44:19
just for some of the listeners,
44:20
what is winning overall mean?
44:24
we have the least crappiest car.
44:27
is that what that means?
44:29
the best is crappiest car.
44:33
the most polished turd,
44:37
it's like the largest jumbo shrimp, right?
44:43
it manages to run the longest,
44:45
the least amount of black flags,
44:47
the least amount of breakdowns.
44:48
You have clean pit stops.
44:50
Everything is quick.
44:52
everything is kind of rehearsed.
44:56
nothing is left to chance.
44:57
You check everything
44:59
and check everything again and again and again.
45:01
Make sure you're as ready as you possibly can be.
45:06
You drive like hell.
45:08
not so much as you break the car,
45:09
but you drive like hell.
45:11
Of a routine, right?
45:13
our routine kind of, we got very,
45:15
I'll say that was one thing that worked very much in our favor.
45:19
being a stock tanked car, right?
45:21
We only have like 16 gallons of 16 or 17 gallons of fuel on board.
45:26
we made the gamble of putting one of our off, you know,
45:30
I won't say anchor,
45:31
but one of our little slower driver,
45:33
but also it's very solid in traffic,
45:35
which is what you want.
45:36
We sent him out first.
45:41
Cause we know his fuel burn rate would be a little bit lower than everyone
45:44
And with the yellow flags and everything that really worked in our favor,
45:47
he stretched the car over three hours of running it hard,
45:54
He stretched it over three hours.
45:56
so then we could run a three,
45:58
then we could run a two stop.
46:01
So we ran two stops,
46:04
while we ran two stops,
46:06
three and a half stints.
46:07
So what we ended up doing was we did a splash and go on the second guy.
46:12
I went in and I ran,
46:14
I ran as hard reasonably hard as I could dealt with yellows and
46:20
I got about two 30 out of the car running it harder with less yellows.
46:25
And then Marcus was the last one and he's the hot shoe.
46:28
we're going to send the hot shoe and for the rest of the day,
46:30
Saturday and go clean house and go put laps in.
46:33
but he had to come in midway.
46:36
we were like looking for a full course and a full course happened
46:39
and he came in and we got him back out.
46:43
we lost like a half a lap on the guys we were with because of the,
46:48
the yellow and we, you know,
46:49
we just splashed six gallons of fuel in it and sent them right back out.
46:53
After just belts or anything.
46:55
that was that worked out.
46:57
And then we did the two stop on Sunday and that's how we made it work.
47:03
so you only just had just the only issue you had with that diff.
47:09
and luckily it only was an issue at night.
47:12
We were able to get patch it and limp it through and deal with it every night.
47:17
the car performed better.
47:21
You didn't have any issues with it.
47:23
The car was flawless.
47:25
So what are some of the maintenance?
47:28
just in general that you guys managed to do when you're in the evening for that.
47:33
We're placing brakes and rotors because the car gets,
47:36
the car gets about an event and a half or so out of front brakes.
47:41
So we knew coming out of practice on Friday,
47:47
the front brakes are going to be suspect for a run on the whole weekend.
47:49
So we put new brakes on it's going into Saturday.
47:52
And then we actually swapped back to the old brakes per Sunday.
47:58
So we just, you know, to finish wearing them out,
48:01
but we knew they weren't going to make this,
48:03
the 14 hours combined at the both days.
48:05
So we did things like that.
48:08
Just nut and bolt check,
48:10
played with tire pressures as temperature was changing.
48:15
so with the brakes,
48:16
is that the type of brakes you got?
48:17
Or is that just kind of like a standard practice for that particular vehicle?
48:22
It's a combination of the brakes they get.
48:25
The whole FCP lifetime more lifetime warranty game.
48:29
So it's whatever's in the,
48:30
but it's whatever's in the FCP catalog.
48:33
they've got what Zimmerman rotors and Hawk DTC,
48:37
60s up front and DTC 30s out back.
48:40
They're not the pads I would go with,
48:43
but it's what's available.
48:46
they have a real high initial bite when they're cold and they trash rotors.
48:50
They do trash rotors.
48:52
So they didn't even,
48:54
when they're hot, they don't like to modulate.
48:56
Like I've always like, you know,
48:58
ST 43s are always said,
49:00
you can basically dance on the pedal at the limit and they'll,
49:02
they'll let you play with it.
49:03
The DTC 60s, they, they want nothing.
49:06
They're like, you get the limit and nothing else.
49:08
And don't you dare play around when you're near the limit.
49:10
And the rotors last forever with ST 43s.
49:21
I'm sorry, Bill, did you have a question?
49:24
I want to know two things.
49:26
It looks like you guys won this race after all of that racing by one minute and
49:34
But I have a, I have a question.
49:36
Why didn't you get 500 laps?
49:42
just let us do one more.
49:49
every team runs their,
49:53
their program a little differently.
49:56
Most of them are this, you know,
50:00
but what were some of the ways that,
50:02
that this particular team ran that made things work or something that maybe
50:07
you weren't like, oh, that's really kind of cool.
50:09
How do you, or just everybody was just all in.
50:12
I mean, they, you know,
50:14
kind of being the arrive and drive driver.
50:16
I help out where I can.
50:18
I make suggestions where I can.
50:20
I don't buy any means,
50:22
force my opinions on anyone because it's, you know,
50:24
the three of them are the team.
50:28
Just here to drive.
50:30
You're, you're humble that way.
50:37
I think they're all,
50:38
they're all just on the same page, right?
50:40
They all knew what they wanted to do.
50:42
They, they all drive very,
50:46
They were faster than others.
50:48
They all had a common goal and they all know they were all friends
50:51
before they built the car.
50:53
So, you know, they're all in tune with each other.
50:56
As far as how, as far as how each other's things.
50:59
I wouldn't say that the program is very similar to how I would run the
51:04
So to me, it kind of felt natural to me, right?
51:07
Except I wasn't the one leading the show.
51:10
So it was just, I, I brought my camper,
51:13
a couple of them stayed with me.
51:14
I cooked for the whole team.
51:16
I wrenched on the car when they needed me to wrench.
51:18
That's a fair trade.
51:19
My father-in-law, my father-in-law came with me.
51:21
So he was our gas man all weekend long,
51:23
helping out with pits,
51:24
helping out with, you know,
51:25
just anything the car needed.
51:27
So we just had a great time.
51:28
It was a lot of fun.
51:31
there's one thing I hate doing.
51:32
It's, it's getting dressed for pit stops
51:34
and the one place I hate doing it the most is Thompson.
51:36
Although this weekend was different, but still.
51:38
Voluntarily wearing that sweatsuit.
51:41
I mean, yeah, that's
51:45
My father-in-law to his credit is a
51:47
deputy firefighter in a volunteer company.
51:49
So jumping in a sweatsuit is
51:52
nothing unlike what he does on a daily basis.
51:56
Responding to fire calls.
51:57
Yeah, that probably helps.
51:59
Not as much of a pansy as I am.
52:01
So, so I'm sure that, that,
52:03
you know, Bill probably brought it up.
52:05
But what, what does it look like now for you?
52:08
What are you going to do now?
52:10
Are you going to Disney?
52:13
He's waiting for that sponsor check to go to Disney.
52:17
You might actually be going to Disney next year,
52:20
Trying to turn a work trip into a family thing as well.
52:25
I'm trying to find a seat for October.
52:27
You know, it'll probably be me still doing
52:29
some arrive and drive, you know, wherever I can get
52:31
seats and you know, trying to run my car
52:33
at least one race a year for the next year or two.
52:35
And we'll kind of feel things out.
52:37
You know, my kids are still little,
52:39
so I don't think I could ever get to
52:41
the full weird, we were trying to run
52:43
a four race program as a team
52:45
with my kids were little and that was tough.
52:47
And now they're getting older and sports
52:49
and art camp and all this stuff.
52:52
Got to figure out where that all wants to go.
52:54
So I still want to race my car.
52:57
But the arrive and drive is nice because again,
52:59
you can just go take my money.
53:02
And all the prep work isn't there.
53:05
You just got to trust the people you're
53:07
handing your money to.
53:12
There's advantages, disadvantages and
53:14
both of them can go terribly wrong
53:16
as I think we've all proven many times.
53:19
I've done arrive and drives where I ran
53:21
the car for 10 minutes of practice and that was it.
53:24
The car blew up and they're like,
53:25
we didn't bring spares.
53:26
Like you didn't bring spares.
53:28
Like you didn't think the car was
53:31
They're like, yeah.
53:32
And they decided I want to pack up the car
53:34
and go fuck off to the Jersey Shore
53:36
for the whole weekend.
53:41
I'd like to thank Ryan for not
53:43
mentioning our name and that story, but that's fine.
53:48
You guys come prepared with fights.
53:50
Sometimes we don't have enough of them,
53:52
but we bring a ton.
53:54
We bring enough that you and Vicki say
53:56
your trailer is too full.
54:01
Don't bother me with logic.
54:03
So it's tough to draw the line
54:05
and what to bring and what not to bring.
54:07
When you know it can break and you know
54:09
how much effort you've put into the weekend
54:11
and you know how much people have spent
54:13
to put it into the weekend and you know
54:15
everything else that's gone into the weekend,
54:17
you hate to sit there and say,
54:18
yeah, I got that part.
54:21
That's what happened to poor Mr. Urie.
54:23
He snapped an axle on the Opel
54:25
and I had to go all the way home to
54:27
Pennsylvania Saturday to go pick it up
54:31
He really should have called.
54:32
It's not easy finding Opel parts.
54:34
The local flaps does not have
54:36
Opel parts from the 70s.
54:38
So I think that's still a 70s car.
54:42
79 I think that is.
54:49
Do we have to refer to you as a title now?
54:52
Is it like Sir Ryan Suska?
54:56
Is this the last podcast you're doing with us?
54:58
You're looking at your MSA drive
55:00
or whatever, you know.
55:02
Going to leave us all behind.
55:07
We knew you when, you know.
55:09
There's no professional racing in this guy's future.
55:12
That's for darn sure.
55:15
Welcome to the club, all three of us.
55:17
Did we do the highlights and lowlights?
55:20
I would say we didn't, Mr. Urie.
55:24
What was your highlight of the weekend besides the win?
55:30
Oh, that hour of racing with Ethan on Sunday, that was like.
55:35
And that car's fast.
55:37
That car can get down and boogie and we just, like I said, we went at it and I've never raced
55:42
that hard for that long in my life.
55:44
And I had the car still running at the end.
55:47
Had the car still running.
55:48
I got out of the car and a little while later, him and his fiancee come rolling up to
55:52
me and she's like, you guys were so close.
55:55
I was watching you on race monitor and on the live stream.
55:59
And then he looked at each other and we were just completely drained and we're like, we
56:04
got to do that again.
56:08
I need one of those.
56:09
I need a dose of one of those.
56:11
I haven't had one of those in a while.
56:13
So it's quite funny.
56:15
What was your low light?
56:19
Besides the pocket.
56:21
I don't think that.
56:22
No, no, no, the low light was probably.
56:28
No, the low light was Thursday night.
56:33
We're getting trailer all squared away.
56:34
We get it all level.
56:35
We get it all hooked up.
56:36
Fire up the generator.
56:38
Runs for about 20 minutes.
56:41
And we're like, Oh no.
56:44
This is the start to this weekend.
56:47
After about two hours of tearing to the part, we found out the low,
56:51
the low oil warning sensor died and the hack is just to disconnect it.
56:55
And then the thing runs.
56:56
It's like, okay, cool.
56:57
But I'm just like, this is a bad omen.
57:00
This is a bad omen.
57:01
This is going to be the start of this weekend.
57:03
You're just like, you like know everything.
57:09
So the, uh, it has the low oil.
57:12
Pressure switch been replaced yet knowing you.
57:17
I'm going to check oil every eight to 10 hours and keep running it.
57:20
I've had it for like seven years.
57:23
It owes me nothing at this point.
57:26
But the last thing you want is it to die in Thompson next year when it's a
57:31
Cause it's got to make up for this year.
57:32
I was just close to upgrading to then, you know, I got a 3,500 watt one.
57:36
This close to upgrading to the 5,000.
57:38
I was like, God, give me a reason to go drive to Harbor Freight tonight.
57:43
Miss Vicki was complaining that our generator wasn't doing what she wanted.
57:47
Boy, did I upgrade.
57:48
Then she's like, Oh my God.
57:50
I'm like, you said upgrade.
57:53
You didn't specify.
57:54
You gave him an inch.
57:55
You gave him an inch.
57:59
This thing could have like a pony.
58:01
It looks like it's got a pony harness on it.
58:04
I can run the Ferris wheel.
58:06
That's all I'm saying.
58:07
I could run anything.
58:08
You tell me what city you want powered.
58:11
It goes through gas.
58:14
Does it go through gas?
58:16
I haven't seen it in a while.
58:20
The last time you didn't see something, you got that little orange
58:22
coming out of the background.
58:23
So don't worry about it.
58:26
She's getting even bigger ones.
58:28
Don't be a big me out of now.
58:32
So, you know, Ryan, I would say that when your low light for the weekend is on Thursday
58:37
night, you had a good weekend.
58:44
Take the Thursday night loss.
58:49
Any day of the week.
58:52
Congratulations to you and your team or your arriving drive team.
58:55
Make sure you pass on our well wishes for them and tell them not to get used to this.
59:01
It'll be interesting to see if we can get a zero again.
59:06
I'm guessing probably not.
59:08
I'm thinking a two probably if I had to guess.
59:12
They're going to be back with the, you know, a little while from that.
59:16
I'd be like, you remember when Ryan race with us?
59:19
Do you remember how?
59:24
Because I've got a friend of ours who wants to go racing, but they don't want to go until
59:29
they know they can win their first race.
59:30
I'm like, you're not ever going to be dead and buried.
59:36
You're never going to start.
59:38
You're never going to start.
59:40
But I'm very competitive.
59:41
I said, not if you go against these people there.
59:43
There are some crazy people out there with crazy cars.
59:46
And I don't care what you do to prep.
59:48
You are not winning your first race because you have no idea.
59:51
And they're on the West coast.
59:52
So they get car counts too.
59:54
They're like 130 car counts.
59:58
What's your chances of winning if you're even with everybody?
00:05
There was a ringer.
00:07
New Hampshire and like 20, like 17 or 2018.
00:13
But you know, I'm not starting until I know I can.
00:18
But that team that came out of nowhere with that gray 240SX,
00:21
they just had a bunch of hot shoes in the car.
00:23
And we're like, where did these guys come from?
00:29
But you know, even then car breaks.
00:32
How many first-time cars run in the top 10 and don't break
00:37
for a whole weekend.
00:39
I bet Yaki get the statistician known as Eric Rude to run that.
00:45
He's not going to do that.
00:46
But I would bet it's very few.
00:54
Sunday, you can grow up and be like Ryan and win the overall.
00:59
After you beat, how'd you say it after you beat the wall
01:05
I beat my wall against the head.
01:10
I'm not tired at all.
01:11
Well, allergies don't affect me.
01:12
Oh, my daughter came up with this great thing.
01:14
She's like, I don't believe in allergies.
01:17
Yeah, that's going to work well.
01:19
Good luck with that, my dear.
01:21
Anyway, Ryan, congratulations on the victory.
01:32
You know how long it's going to be before we do one of these
01:34
podcasts where we win, Miss Vicki?
01:41
Anyway, apparently Miss Vicki has already gone off to La La Land
01:44
and is dreaming a sleepy dream right now.
01:52
It was great talking to you and we wanted to make sure we
01:54
celebrated with you and it's amazing.
01:59
That was like the, I didn't feel like I wanted to be there
02:02
until I saw that happen.
02:03
I'm like, damn it, I wanted to be there.
02:35
It's Tanner and we've gotten pretty lucky with the
02:38
But man, it's been cold at night.
02:40
And of course the other day on one of the coldest nights of
02:42
the year, the furnace over at my friend's place goes out.
02:44
But luckily my friend's got a friend who knows the guys
02:46
over at Cornell's plumbing.
02:47
Not friends me, by the way.
02:49
And right now they've got a special just for brew
02:52
Get a $0 service call with repair or 50 bucks off
02:55
You just got to mention that you heard it from
02:57
Tanner on the brew.
02:58
So do what I did and trust the link.
