They're talking about updating all of the gasoline cars in the catalac lineup. So that's raised some questions about

I mean, there's a lot of we've been talking about a lot a lot of retrenchment new new planning
As evs have not had the projective sales the projected sales that people are hoping for here's what I think people are pushing back on

We set out to make an amazing little compact car
And anyone that got in our way, we pushed them out of the way. We fired the marketing people
We got rid of the of the the engineers when they got in the way of the designers
We made the designers design something cool
Then we brought in people that had sports car cred then we the whole premise was we're going to make an amazing
Little compact car. That was for this particular car. Okay marketing was awesome. I remember the super bowl commercial
Iconically it was great. It had a little bit of humor about it
But the whole demeanor was we've thrown out all the things that get in the way of a great car
And we introduced to you the new dodge dart
The problem is it didn't drive anything like the marketing. So it was just marketing
Which is the exact same thing that happens. This is exactly exactly in spite of the fact that in the middle of the commercial
They say we threw out the marketing department
They actually say at the middle of the commercial
But all you've really done to this day is create a super bowl commercial for a car where I was like
Yeah, that's the right demeanor and I remember it more than a decade later
And you made a car that is completely forgettable

This is exactly like and Saturn had good ads too. This is exactly like what happens when you have one of those movies
Where the marketing puts it everywhere
And it dies weekend one. Why did it die weekend one because they didn't bother to make a good movie?
They made great marketing and not a good product
This failed because they had a marketing scheme
They made a different car than the marketing suggested

manual transmission in laguna blue that is her fun car today

He said the mini could practically fit in the bed of the truck, but she loves she loved having that monster beast for a while

She likes both cars, but has been hinting at wanting some changes

She likes front engine big growly v8 engine noises and she'd like an aston martin vantage same idea

the loss of a
Manual transmission in a sports car and the trade-off is something more exotic
But she thinks she might be too precious with an aston or something exotic
And then fears she will spend a lot of money in the sports car only to be left with something that constantly needs maintenance
But her corvettes have needed almost nothing
Broken supercharger belt on the c5 a cracked wheel and a short at the battery terminal
Which is a fluky deal on her c706 have been the only non-routine maintenance items or repair issues. She's fantastic. I love it
That's great. They're chevys. They just run. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah sound stance uniqueness overall appearance of a car is very important to her

He doesn't want his two cars to cost more than his wife's range rover evoke
They bought a used evoke. It was

He knows very little about the american cars like the dodge magnum or the christler 300c

Well, the rest of the car is it's made out of like, you know, army man plastic

But the problem is this is early 2000s plastic interiors and they are they were not good when they were new

For 7500 bucks. So you're going to be dumping money into this and I went under the price
There's well done a lot of these out there. That's really cool the six speed man. You did well there. I cannot believe
I just the fact that that's 7400 dollars makes me wonder what is lurking for maintenance
A lot. Yeah, because it looks it looks great. It looks phenomenal. It looks like an m5
It's got I think you get the m5 with those wheels in fact
That is a great looking car and I am horrified at the potential maintenance
And I always when these came out I read article after article gushing about how good these cars were
They just couldn't believe the 540i and and you know acknowledged the m5 like yeah, that's the holy grail
That's the one everybody wants but the 540 is
Really, I mean this is a hidden secret. That's what I always read about. It's the sleeper car of the store

How I think you should get though is a 1994

But most of the ones that you find with higher mileage have been very well maintained
They've been driven road trips and that kind of thing
But they've been excellently maintained and they are in great shape and they're usually there's a ton of them right around 10
Grant now there's also a ton of them that are like

Then you walk around the other side and like half of it's gone
But yeah, avoid those and you can easily find those on auto tempest
But the ones that you do find like this one. I just thought

But then I thought about okay. I also want something that you are going to enjoy driving
You'd enjoy the event of this
But I don't know about the driving dynamics. So I have to say a 2014 chevy camaro 2 s s
rear wheel drive
For right at 13 5
These chassis are far better than you think they are you want to v8?
This is an american v8 experience and it's a modern american v8 experience. This is barely a 12 year old car
Well, his wife got with him in this car. I think so because here's the thing this has this has modern amenities in it
This is 10 years newer than the mercedes. I just showed
Now it has a more plasticky interior than the mercedes the mercedes is classier no question
But dynamically these are actually surprisingly good
This is that era of core of camaro where every time we drove when we were like this is actually really good
The base ones aren't but this is a 2 s s. Okay. This is the way you want this car
So a 2014 camaro 2 s s for 13 5. I think that is really viable mileage is right at 120 000 miles
It's a chevy. I think it would run another car that you brought up. Jeremy that I actually really do like
2000 jaguar xk series xk8 convertible. I've got one here in red with tan interior
I would buy this over the mercedes
Personally, would you really I would I just think really I think these are awesome. Plus you they come in colors

I think this would be every bit as gremlin prone as the mercedes. I really do

You just don't see these that's interesting. This is a stealth

But you can get these in all kinds of colors. You know, they made them in yellow
Yeah automatic or manual by the way of all the cars I've shown. This is the most powerful one
Okay, which is really cool. Oh for gto. This is a great car with a great Chevy engine in it
But it has australian styling and interior materials which are better than the 2004 gms were for the time
True. Yeah, this is not a car anybody thinks is anything
But it's powerful and it has good dynamics. In fact, I would argue potentially better dynamics than anything else I've shown
These were good. He's had good dynamics. I'm surprised how high the price is
16 9 for 48,000 miles now. I did find them in the 13,000 dollar range. I wanted to show this because of the color
I mean the colors amazing colors great. I you can get them for for 13 14 that you can get a lot of them
I thought these were all all like eight to 12. I thought they were two. These are bounced as well more than I thought they had
So you can find beatdown ones, of course that are that are going to be under 10
But I think this might be the car because you get all the v8 american v8-ness that you're looking for
But it classes it up a bit and makes it a sleeper. I do like that. It's a little bit rowdy. It's a little bit luxury
It's a little bit of this a little bit of everything. Yep
And the dynamics are known to be good and it isn't flashy. That's the other thing about it
You didn't buy some flashy like oh you got that car most people aren't going to have any idea what this is
So i'm going to stay right there at the Pontiac gto. That's my final answer
But it's kind of wild card because I know it's not expected. So hopefully something there is helpful for yourself

You've seen this at cars and coffee
It's amazing how a little tiny kid will walk up and the most expensive car there the parents like
The owner says the parents you want to get in it? I mean, I've done it
But I've also seen guys in super hyper expensive cars do it
He says he feels left out because an adult can't ask to think
Ask the owner to sit in the car even though that that's the way to try to experience it

Yes, I offer it to whoever if somebody walks up and starts asking about my car the first the amirah specifically
And I did this like two or three times this actually past weekend
If somebody comes up and starts asking about it
I ask if they've ever seen one and then I ask if they've ever sat in it
And if they haven't sat in one I open the door and I say get in it
And what's funny is kids are like cool and the kids like kids like ready kids like, you know sticky fingers doesn't matter
It's mom and dad. They're like, are we sure the kids like the door's open?
I'll sit at that the adults are hysterical because nine out of ten adults. I've noticed this will say this
No, no, I'm good
And then proceed to stand there by the open door at which point I'm like
Go ahead and sit in it get in
They almost always nine out of ten adults will demure even when you offer the like no, no, I'm good
And then I'm like get in the car. I couldn't possibly. Yeah, exactly. The other thing adults do is the pocket check
What sharp things do I have do I need to take my phone out? One guy this weekend was like, let me remove my pocket knife

versus the interior
Certainly driving dynamics take precedence. I'll give you an example Ford fiesta t the car looks pretty cool
But it looks pretty boring even if it's in a hot splashy bright orange color

The interior is not that great the plastics are not that great and it's you know a little bit dated at this point and
It's fine, but it's a little bit plastic interior and not super compelling the 500 abart

We've heard from a couple of people that the e-trons are super cheap and should be because they have
Electrical gremlins and can be nightmares. We've had a couple people write us since we've talked about how cheap they are like

So I haven't heard that as much about the taikans. I know I mean like matt farrah has one. He's talked about it a lot
I've heard about
Random things with taikans, but I haven't heard about please stay away
So that's I think that might be the shift seth. I don't think it's in driving
I mean, I suspect that the I haven't driven them back to back
I expect that the taikan drives a little better than the e-tron but $25,000 better in the way you'd use it. No

I I got in an uber in vegas once with my wife and we were only going like I mean, these are vegas blocks
So they're big blocks. We're only like two or three blocks. We weren't going very far
But it was far far than the need want to walk in vegas for sure and we got in this guy's uber
And it's one of the rare times that I have given somebody
super low stars
Because he had an iPad
Plugged into the stereo of the car
So what he was but he was watching
Videos on youtube music videos on youtube. He had it propped up in the center console
As he drew now look this is stop and go traffic on the vegas trip. We're not going fast, but still but he was
Barely paying attention
While the music from his music video choices was blaring through the cabin
I have never wanted to get out of a car so badly in my life
And I instantly went into that kind of protective mode where I was like, I'm okay with this
But my wife is 100 not and you've made her uncomfortable and we're on vacation and that is not okay
And you know, you give like somebody really low stars all those apps are like what on earth was wrong
I was like that one and
I have rarely ever given anybody a skating review of that guy because I was like you're not even watching
And then you're subjecting us to what you're watching. Yeah, what what are you doing?
That's the only like really bad experience. I've had also an ig the bruce b asks what makes for a good cars and coffee
I think you hit on it with all the photos that you took. It's the unique cars
It's the variety and I think it's I like in I like watching other people discover

I've seen it with muscle cars. I've seen it with 911s where they all come in as a group
They all park as a group. They all hang as a group. It's like can we just

I like to see variety and I also I don't like the cars and coffee where people stand by their car and their little group
And they never leave their cars
The whole point is I think the whole point is to get out and walk around all the other cars and back to your point
