Winter tires are special tires made for driving in snow and ice. They help your car grip the road better when it's cold outside, making it safer to drive in winter conditions.
Summer tires are made for warm weather and help cars grip the road well when it's hot. However, they don't work well in cold or snowy weather, which can make driving dangerous.
A 'parts cannon' is when a mechanic just replaces a lot of parts in a car without really figuring out what's wrong. It can end up costing more money and not really fix the issue.
The Honda Civic DX is a type of car that is known for being dependable and good on gas. The 1999 version is part of a series of Civics that many people liked because they were small and economical.
Tight tolerances mean that the parts inside the engine fit together very closely. This helps the engine work well, but it can cause problems if the engine gets too hot or is used too hard.
Zero W 20 is a kind of oil for engines that helps them work better, especially when it's cold outside. It helps the engine start easily and run smoothly.
The camshaft is a part of the engine that helps open and close the valves, which let air and fuel in and exhaust out. It's important for how well the engine runs.
The crankshaft is a part of the engine that turns the up-and-down movement of the pistons into a spinning motion that makes the car go. It's very important for how the engine works.
Connecting rods are parts that link the pistons (which move up and down) to the crankshaft (which spins). They help turn the engine's motion into power for the car.
Motor oil is a special liquid that helps keep the engine running smoothly by reducing friction and preventing wear. It's important to check and change it regularly.
195 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature that many engines need to stay at to work well. Keeping the engine at this temperature helps it run smoothly and prevents it from getting too hot.
A thermostat helps keep the engine at the right temperature by controlling how much coolant flows through it. If the engine gets too hot, the thermostat opens to let more coolant in.
The air-fuel mixture is how much air and fuel are mixed together before going into the engine. Getting this mix right helps the engine run smoothly and efficiently.
Spark plugs are small parts in an engine that create a spark to ignite the fuel and air mixture, helping the engine run. They need to be checked and replaced regularly for the engine to work well.
Transmission oil is a special fluid that helps the car's transmission work smoothly. It needs to be clean and at the right level to keep the car shifting gears properly.
An oil filter is a part that cleans the motor oil by removing dirt and debris. Changing it regularly helps keep the engine oil clean and the engine running well.
The windshield washer system is what sprays water or cleaning fluid on your windshield to help keep it clean. It has a pump and nozzles that do the spraying.
Washer fluid is the liquid that sprays onto your car's windshield to help clean it. It's important for keeping your view clear, especially when it's rainy or snowy.
A tachometer shows how fast the engine is spinning. It's important for knowing when to change gears in a car, especially if you're driving a manual transmission.
The wiper transmission helps your windshield wipers move back and forth. If it's not working well, your wipers might not clean the windshield properly.
The drive belt is a rubber belt that helps power parts of the car like the air conditioning and power steering. If it breaks, it can cause serious problems for the engine, especially if it's cold outside.
Coolant is a liquid that helps keep your car's engine from getting too hot. It works by moving heat away from the engine and preventing it from freezing in cold weather.
Electric cooling fans are fans that turn on to help cool the engine when it gets too hot. They pull air through the radiator to keep everything at the right temperature.
The water pump is a part of your car that moves the coolant around the engine to keep it from overheating. If it stops working, the engine can get too hot and cause problems.
The service light is a warning light on your dashboard that tells you something might be wrong with your car. It usually means you need to check or fix something soon.
Engine damage means something is wrong with your car's engine that can make it not work properly. This can happen if the engine gets too hot or if parts inside it break.
An Amphicar is a special kind of vehicle that can drive on roads like a car and also float and drive on water like a boat. They were made a long time ago and are quite interesting!
The starter motor is what helps your car's engine start. When you turn the key, it uses power from the battery to make the engine turn over and start running.

Community so we welcome you aboard this morning well taking a look at the weather for today it's going to be a little sketchy so take it easy out there if you're driving on.
Four season well three season tires.
And you don't have winter tires on you're going to want to know this and I have a vehicle that's scheduled to go in for safety inspection.
And it needs to have winter tires on and I've I've gone out on the snow covered roads with the three season tires honestly.
Those of you who are driving a vehicle with summer tires on.
Hey you're a better man than me because I just don't feel safe and secure the vehicle feels like it's it's kind of floating on marbles and like any false move and you're going to be in the rhubarb patch or you're going to be meeting somebody by accident.
I can't do it it's it's too sketchy for me.
Well today the forecast is ready wintery mix.
That's right 29 degrees now in cloudy and it feels warmer about 30 degrees wintery mix expected around 12pm today's temperature range is from 29 to 39 degrees feels like 26 to 37 the high temperature for today similar than yesterday.
Will be 39 a bombing 39 so dress for it and adjust your driving habits.
That's right adjust your driving habits to road conditions road conditions that is so so important to slow down.
You know I want to I want to know that you get there alive and well and that you didn't turn your entire life upside down because you met someone by accident so this morning we're going to jump into.
How to keep your car running in cold weather I'm going to give you some tips they're going to help you maybe some memory joggers.
I have done a couple of podcasts going into deep detail on making sure that you have a winter travel kit and I hope some of you have taken the time to put that together.
You don't have to do it every year you may just have to you know replenish it but it's worth it and just bark right you know I have one of those label maker thingies.
Yeah you type it in print it and then label it yeah it works works really good and I just put winter travel kit in a clear tote with a snap on lid and lock it down and whatever vehicle you're driving if you have multiple vehicles grab it put it in the trunk.
Check it if you've used stuff out of the kit check it check it twice and put the stuff that you've used back in top it up top it up so we're going to talk about some of those things this morning.
Keep you keep reminding you as I put together the 30 day fuel savings challenge.
And it's 30 days back to back 30 days you're going to do one thing and then the next 30 days you're going to make some changes.
I'm going to be your coach because I'm here to save you money.
So if you like to save money on your automotive repairs you don't like to get ripped off at the service center not to say all the guys are doing that.
I know some fellows that are top drawer man and they deserve to get paid with the gate paid because they're in your corner to help you keep that vehicle going as long as you possibly can as easily as you possibly can.
Not just throwing parts on the vehicle with the parts cannon.
If that's of interest to you is to learn how to keep your vehicle longer as long as you like and be part of the 600,000 kilometer club.
We're on our way we're on our way to 400,000 on the F07 FJ three officially as of yesterday 310,000 kilometers on the 99 Honda Civic DX two door hatchback.
I'm trying to keep that off road this winter.
I haven't taken out any salt or anything.
I really wanted to kind of tuck it away because I stripped it out the summer and it did its very first car show and the young kids just drooled over it.
They need a chin place to play.
Hey, Miss, where'd you get that?
You want to sell that thing?
No.
No times no divided by.
So if what I just mentioned is of the utmost importance to you to keep your vehicle longer, save money while you're doing it, put cash back in your wallet.
I've got four decades of experience of doing that for.
For.
It's going to be like giving your your household up to a $2,000 raise.
Does that got your attention?
Yeah.
So that's why motor mouth is here.
Just come off the 31 years doing radio with our car connection live call in automotive program.
It's great to be here.
I'm settling into podcasting with you and helping you this direction that way, you know, Norman eats.
Watermelon sandwiches.
What does that mean?
North, south, east and west.
North, south, east and west.
We're reaching people from all walks of life to help you to understand the balance and Feng Shui you can have with your automobile instead of feeling like, you know, you want to stuff some an explosive in the tailpipe and blow the thing up.
I actually had a lady one time when we had our shop on the Hamilton Mountain, she goes.
Now, can I talk to you for a minute?
That car is like driving me crazy.
It's there's always something I said, well, you know, we're getting a handle on it.
It's, you know, you haven't spent a whole lot of money in it in a long time.
We got to catch it up.
Let me know when you carry dynamite in stock.
I'll put it in the tailpipe myself.
I couldn't stop laughing.
It was so funny.
There were other people sitting in the waiting area, waiting for a service, their service to be completed.
We didn't have a lot of people waiting for their vehicles.
They trusted us enough to drop it off.
Park and fly, we called it.
Park and fly will keep you up to date.
What's going on with it?
Everybody was laughing so hard.
It was hysteric.
Absolutely was.
Well, let's jump into this morning's topic that I pulled out of the hat for you.
How to keep your car running in cold weather.
Well, number one, we touched on a little bit of it yesterday.
Yesterday's five common maintenance mistakes that cost drivers thousands of dollars.
You got to jump into that one as well.
Again, everything we talk about here on the podcast is available to you on our website, all the details, all the links, all the logos for our program partners that make things possible to be here for you is all available at carconnectionbusinessnetwork.com.
So connect with those businesses.
They're all vetted by myself and have absolutely 100% seal approval.
They don't work for free.
Just thought I'd throw that in there if they want to give you a discount on their services or, you know, do it pro bono.
You know what?
That's their decision to make.
Exactly.
I pay what you pay when I use the businesses as well.
I don't ask for any special, you know, pricing or whatever because I know what it's like to be in business.
You know, profitability is not a dirty word if it's come by honestly.
All right.
First and foremost is staying ahead of the curve when it comes to the fluids and all of them.
Someone asked me, well, which ones are more important?
Okay.
All of them.
All.
That means every single fluid your vehicle is equipped with needs to be monitored.
When it's degrading, when it's deteriorating, in other words, it needs to get changed out, especially in the winter.
Dirty motor oil in the winter when it gets super cold, it gets thick and it takes a little longer for that thick oil to get where it needs to go and there's wear and tear.
And I'm studying right now some of the issues that are going on with engines out there because they're exploding everyone.
Everyone's got a challenge and it looks like the deepest challenge is the engineers that are designing the engines know that you guys drive them like you stole them.
You're running them flat out high RPMs for extended periods of time like a motorcycle.
Yeah.
That's why motorcycles are designed with very tight tolerances because high RPMs all the time.
So you guys out there doing the same thing to your automobiles.
How do they do it?
They got to go to thinner oils like zero W 20.
And this is where the big discussion comes in zero W 20 flows easy and really cold temperatures.
However, the trade off is really tight engineering tolerances inside the engine.
All the components camshafts crankshafts connecting rods bearing surf all bearing surfaces.
So they need a motor oil that will flow into a very tight crevice.
The trade off is the engines are wearing fast.
They're wearing out connecting rod crankshaft camshaft bearings very, very quickly because of the high RPMs and the tight tolerances.
So not to say your vehicles like that.
I know my own is not.
I don't even have 07 heading for 400,000 a I haven't ever had to top up the motor oil.
But if you're driving a newer vehicle, you need to check that motor oil religiously and make sure you're not extending your oil changes.
And especially in the winter months for everyone, no matter what age of vehicle you're driving, keep that motor oil clean.
Here's what happens in the winter is we we have a vehicle that needs to maintain 195 degrees Fahrenheit continuously.
So that means all the time in the cooling system to the thermostat cooling system.
That's why I call it the most most neglected area for service on all makes and models is the cooling system.
We've talked about that.
You pick up that podcast well from our library on our website or just jump.
Just click into on our I heart link on the homepage at CC busnet.com.
Jump into our library.
There's today is a series one episode 53 already in just a little under seven weeks.
So we're cruising along.
There's a pretty big category list in the library of things that you can catch up on and one of them was my discussion about cooling system.
So the engines got to maintain the cooling systems got to get it there at 195 degrees Fahrenheit and keep it there.
Well, what happens in the cold weather, the thermostat is constantly adjusting, hold back coolant, get the engine back up to 195.
Oh, it's getting a little bit above it opens wider to allow more flow and get the flow of the coolant really traveling through the radiator and right back to the engine cooled off.
So we we tend to use more fuel in our vehicles in the winter because the computers constantly monitoring exhaust so it's sniffing the exhaust and getting an idea what's going out tailpipe making adjustments to air fuel mixture.
So vehicles got to warm up when it's cold outside so it's more fuel put more fuel on the fire to get the engine hot burning hot to get it up to 195 degrees Fahrenheit and hold it there.
So it it's all working together.
So the engine oil gets contaminated with unburnt fuel.
So that's why that's a long trip around to get back to why is it important to make sure your oil changes are on time.
Don't extend them and make sure that the motor oil is clean and in top drawer condition over the winter months.
I remember one particular year on the Hamilton Mountain.
We had our shop at 1060 Rymel Roadies in a kind of an auto mall Plaza.
And we were at my minus 22 for six weeks or more.
We were in a deep freeze.
And we had vehicles being dropped off by CAA night and day day and night.
It was no end in sight.
And they're all coming in no starts.
Cranks over slow but will not start.
And a lot of times many times what we'd have to do is make some room in the shop and push these vehicles in and get them warmed up.
And then they'd start right up.
Why?
Because the motor oil was thick.
It was too thick for the starter to drag itself out of bed and get it started.
So it became a no start.
So then you keep trying to start it and then you flood the thing with too much fuel.
Now it's done.
We would have to all these vehicles coming in that for six weeks solid.
We were at minus 22 that you know it's cold when you know you go outside you breathe in your nose hairs freeze.
And the snow you're walking on squeaks.
And it was like that.
Man it was it was bitterly cold for good solid six weeks.
We'd push vehicles in at the we'd fix some so we'd cram a bunch of them into the shop overnight.
So we could start them up and get them out in the morning and then get them back inside while they were still warm.
And get them get the motor oil changed and check all the fluids and bring quickly everything up to speed pull the spark plugs out.
Give them a tune up and check it over and down the road it would go and it was a constant routine.
The next one do the same thing next one same thing next one same thing and just go through it and clean out the fluids that were dirty and thick.
Power steering transmission we'd have transmission oil it was so burnt it looked like motor oil.
And you know it was a lot of work one vehicle after next.
And you know I'll tell you when that six week was over myself and my guys we were beat because we were going constantly to try and keep everybody rolling.
So first and foremost let's make sure all the fluids are clean and especially the motor oil.
You'll want it to be clean and healthy quality oil filter on there and that will prevent you get a cold snap from having a nose start.
Okay.
What's next I knew you'd ask let's not forget about the squirters.
That's right the windshield washers because what today is going to be one of those weather days where you're going to need lots of washer fluid.
Because it's going to be sloppy then it's going to be a wintry mix it could be rain wet snow turning to ice rain to grapple to sleep.
You got to be prepared today for all of it and be prepared every day because we never know from one day to the next exactly what we're getting.
We can write about it at the end of the day so being prepared is the best thing you can do for you.
So make sure today before you head out you've got a full jug of windshield wash the fluid in the vehicle minus 45 nothing laps.
Leave that stuff at the center aisle in the grocery stores that's on sale for like 299.
No you can use that in the summer it's no good in the winter.
I run minus 50 all year round just so that way you know in the fall I don't have to run around flushing out washer bottles and nozzles and lines and everything so that you know you don't get caught and have a freeze up.
Crack your washer bottle destroy the pump and wreck your nozzles and you don't be into five six eight hundred dollars in no time parts and labor just to fix that problem.
So fresh jug of washer fluid a full one in the car today take a few minutes make sure your washer bottle is filled to the max.
And now you're ready to go down the road because it's going to be sloppy loose today.
Yeah it's going to be a messy one where you're going to need your wipers can need those squirters because you all really drive really really close to one another like you're drafting.
Yeah that's really folks we're going to talk about that that is really bad for your car just so you know.
You got it you got to know the basic fundamentals and understand an automobile more so that you can put more money back in your wallet because you're just killing your machine you're absolutely a majority of you out there.
You know I don't care if somebody honks at me I'm doing like 10 over between five and 10 over I stay on the outside lane and I'm happy I'm running at about 20 2100 2200 RPM.
So my vehicles just out for a stroll in the park and I'm saving money.
I'm not wasting fuel.
Exactly.
Yeah.
So just keep this in mind today.
Look at your your tachometer.
Most vehicles have a tachometer even if it's an automatic.
As soon as you see the needle go past 2000 RPM I want you to just listen very closely to this sound.
What is that that is your fuel getting sucked right out of your fuel tank and waste.
Because there is no fuel economy for you no matter what you're driving when you get over 2000 RPM when you hit 2500 it's completely old.
You are sucking and wasting fuel like you wouldn't believe.
There's no fuel economy for you folks none zero absolutely zero the ejectors are wide open just rolling the fuel at the engine and that's why I'm going to I'm circling back.
That's another reason why your motor oil gets super thick and you're always having to top it up because tolerances are super tight.
Like I already said inside the engine and you're booting that vehicle down the road like you rented it and stole it and you're well above 2500 RPM and you are just sucking the fuel into that engine and contaminating the oil.
So not good.
All right let's move on today's topic how to keep your car running in cold weather and don't forget your snow brush.
That's right I leave mine if you came here today and you went to the breezeway that it attaches to the main house and also to the shop studio and recording studio where we're sitting right now.
It's pretty cool.
We got nice nice digs.
You would look to your right hand side and see two snow brushes sitting there.
Why?
Well number one so I don't forget to take a snow brush with me and if it snowed overnight I've got my snow brush right there.
So I don't have to try and weasel my way into the driver's side without dumping a whole pile of snow and ice and whatnot.
I'm like my seat in the vehicle so that I get to sit in a wet patch the entire time I'm driving to wherever my destination is.
So that is my plan.
Make sure you have your snow brush.
If we know we're going to get some kind of wintery mix even though your office staff or whoever your cronies are you work with might laugh why do you have your snow brush.
It's a convenience.
That's all I say it's a convenience that you know what while I'm here for whatever eight hours or 10 hours that I have my snow brush in hand.
I can when I get to the car I can clean off the driver's side and not have to sit in a wet patch on my seat of car for hours to get home.
Yeah.
So exact convenience.
Just hey that's something I have and I've created and it works.
It works very well every time without issue.
And so then the other folks are trying to clean their driver's door off with the gloves on that where they didn't even bring gloves and a hat.
Yeah.
And they're trying to get the window cleared with a debit card.
Yeah.
Good luck.
So I like convenience and yeah you can just make it super simple.
I call them SOPs standard operating procedures.
Just keep running the same pattern.
And that's what I'm teaching you.
In every podcast every YouTube video yesterday we shot an interesting video.
I had one of our snowblowers go down without warning and it shouldn't have.
I had put a card kid in last year because it was leaking fuel.
So anyways I did a four four small segments showed you how do you fix that yourself for like three bucks.
Yeah.
The last card kid I bought a number of years ago was like 30 bucks.
I found them on the jungle website for a little under three dollars a kit.
And so I ordered I ordered five at a time because it's something you're going to need.
So I show you how to do that.
I put four four small segments together so I don't bore you and you see how that's done.
That's how you save money.
That's how you put money back in your pocket.
So small engine stuff those guys and gals that do that that service man.
My hat goes off to you because you know what it comes to mind every time I'm working on them.
It's like tinker tinker tinker tinker tinker.
Yeah.
It's very finicky work.
Yeah.
It's like I think of a little elf and you know fixing a clock with hammers screwdrivers.
Just think think think anyhow.
I don't want to digress.
But you got to stay on top of all this stuff and be prepared to accept when things go wrong.
Get the car in the shop.
Don't put it off.
Get it in there right away.
OK.
Wind shall wash.
Full jug fill up the reservoir hit the highway.
And just another little tip when you get to your destination your workplace put your wipers up.
Yeah.
So it's going to save you a ton of time.
And you're not going to break anything in the in the wiper transmission and white pivot system.
Yeah.
That gets expensive very fast.
Yeah.
You know that emergency pizza and wing night will be gone if you break that stuff.
The budget will not allow for that to happen.
So I'm just saying I'm here to save your money.
So next was the last time your drive belt was inspected.
Your accessory drive belt under the hood probably not too many not too many.
Well keep this in mind.
One belt drives all accessories in a majority of the automobiles out there in the market that are being sold one drive belt.
So when that puppy breaks even though it's freezing cold outside your engine will overheat in a matter of minutes.
Because the coolant is operating at between two twelve and two twenty five Fahrenheit most of the time.
And that's why we have electric cooling fans.
The cooling fans come on at between two twelve and two twenty five water boils at that temperature.
That's why mixing the vehicles antifreeze is important that we have the right ratio and the correct flavor for your automobiles so that it doesn't boil.
But if those fans don't come on at two twenty two twelve to two twenty five and the belt broke the water pump stops.
You have no power steering nothing and the all kinds of bells and whistles are going to come on in the dash.
If you're afraid of the service light you will definitely be wanting to jump out of the car run away screaming because just about every warning lamp is going to come on in the vehicle in your face on the dash panel.
Don't panic but you want to get that vehicle over to the side and shut off.
Don't try and drive it five three five ten kilometers.
It's going to super heat and you're going to do some engine damage and automatic transmission damage as well.
So we need to make sure that that belt is good in the slushy road surfaces that we can have folks.
You don't drive a submarine or an amphicar.
You can Google that today when you have a moment an amphicar.
Yeah it can drive on land and you can just drive off the land right into the lake and it just keeps going.
Yeah check it out they are so so cool but we don't have those anymore.
Amphicars they're built like a boat underneath everything's closed in your car is not closed in.
So when you go flying through those puddles like I have Lake Scott out in front of the studio here.
I've talked to the road crew in the town here and you might as well talk to a cinder block.
Yeah you can get those at the Greenville families building supply plates.
Yeah yeah Niagara block get it.
That's what they build there.
So you might as well be banging your head to a cinder block at Niagara block and get a new one every day.
Because we get Lake Scott right outside the front of the studio here and I'm getting to the point people fly down.
We live in an old neighborhood in here 40 something years and we're old old not really old timers here.
I think I'm the youngest one most of the time.
Anyhow I feel young feel 20 something but anyhow they fly down here and the Lake Scott is in front of our place and it's usually you can't step in it with shoes on.
That's how deep it is right by the roadside and the end of the driveway.
It's and it stays there for a long time.
They come flying down they're supposed to be driving at like 50 K they hit that puddle they don't realize what they're doing.
So I'm telling you do not do that.
I'm flying through a three to six inch puddle of salt laced water and slush because your starter motor your alternator and all kinds of components.
If your vehicle is equipped with a timing belt a rubber belt instead of a chain you should find that out as well because this I'm going to talk about that in a minute.
You will flood out your starter motor your alternator with that salty road water because you're hitting it and now it's under pressure.
Heavy duty pressure PSI pounds per square inch.
Yeah.
And it drives that water into those electrical components that are wide open the road splash.
And if you have a timing belt it will pressure wash your time the front of the engine and that water will get in behind the timing belt cover.
So now the vehicle sits overnight or sits for eight or 10 hours and that water freezes on the timing belt or inside the alternator or inside inside the starter motor.
There's three components right there.
That is the trifacta of death or a vehicle.
So no don't go splashing through and creating a great big rooster tail of water.
I laugh every time I see somebody doing it I'm going you have no idea what's coming for you Mr. Misses you have no idea because you're going to have extreme component failure.
Here's what happens to the timing belt that water is under about I would venture to say between 1500 and 2200 PSI of pressure from your tires squishing that water compressing it.
It's it's like nothing your garden hose is going to produce.
So that heavy pressure rise water is going to find every nook and cranny it can possibly shower.
So if it gets in behind your timing cover which is another rubber belt like a serpentine drive belt accessory drive belt it's going to freeze overnight.
And when you go to start the car in the morning the teeth are going to just rip right off that timing that timing belt and you're done finished.
Yep.
Now you got to pull the whole front of the motor apart and hopefully you haven't done any engine damage because there's interference engines not interference engines.
Interference just means that when the timing belt breaks the pistons dance with the valves in the cylinder head at the top part of the engine and smash them.
Yeah.
And that that's pretty much what will put most vehicles in you know as well as a blown up automatic transmission that'll put the car into the wrecking yard very quick.
Yeah.
Very very quickly.
So enough said on that.
Hope you got the idea.
Do not go submersing your vehicle if the road is like today we're going to have some it looks like we're going to have some warmer weather we're going to get some rain we're going to get some some ice rain sleet grapple.
You name it.
It's going to be a whole mixed bag of tricks today.
And you know there's can be some flooding.
Don't go flying into that huge slushie puddle.
Just don't do it.
When you get a chance today look up and the car.
Yeah.
And the car.
A. M. P. H. I. C. A. R. and the car.
I think it came out and they came out like the 50s.
That's when I saw I think 57 or 54.
Yeah.
Really cool.
You can probably find a video on it too.
Absolutely.
So I'm going to pull over and park it there.
Those are a few areas.
The battle touch on the battery a little bit.
We've got lots of information on testing batteries on our YouTube channel.
So that would be a great area for you to get a lot of the basic fundamentals on how to take better care of your automobile and put more money back in your wallet instead of out of your wallet.
Because every video teaches five things what it is where it is how it works how it breaks and what you could have learned to have and implemented to prevent unnecessary repair bills ahead of time.
So the more you can learn the less likely you're going to get taken advantage of taking your car and having service somewhere because you're going to know the language.
You're going to know the basics and you're going to be able to carry that with you.
Absolutely.
Don't forget transmission oil is also an oil.
And if it's dirty and it's thick your transmission is wearing and tearing very very badly.
That too is also another one of those critical components that when you find out when it's done and it's no longer working and you haven't been servicing it like every 50,000 kilometers.
Yeah.
That's right.
It's not good for life.
I don't care what the sales guy says if he doesn't own the keys and own the car.
It's your car.
It's your car and you need to take the responsibility of taking care of it so you can put money back in your wallet not take money out of your wallet.
So don't forget the transmission oil.
What else was I just going to say brain fart.
It happens.
Yep.
All age groups.
Batteries.
Yes, we have a number of videos on our YouTube channel that watch how to test batteries what we're looking for and how to keep your your car battery happy and healthy.
One of the number one things is when it's freezing cold outside and it's windy, don't park the front the nose of the car into the wind.
Turn it around the other way.
Try and keep the nose of your vehicle out of the wind.
It makes a huge difference to the lifespan and longevity of your vehicle's car battery and no boosting and going.
So if your car goes dead and someone gives you a boost and get it going, it will take 60 days to charge that battery with your alternator because alternators are not battery chargers.
Alternators are there to provide the electricity to the accessories you turn on in the vehicle once the car has started.
So the battery holds power when once the engines cranked over and the engines running the battery goes to sleep.
The alternator turns on and provides the electricity to run all the accessories that you have turned on inside and outside your vehicle.
So lights, radio, blower fan, wipers, the whole package, every single thing rear defrost window.
Every time you turn on an accessory in the car, the power is not coming from the battery. It's coming from the alternator.
So alternators are to provide the power to run all the accessories once the car is running.
A battery is there to get the engine cranked over via the starter motor to get the engine started.
And once the alternator kicks in, it will put back the voltage that was removed from the battery to get the engine cranking over and get it started.
And then once the battery is topped off, it's over.
But if you just boost and go, you're going to smoke your alternator. It's going to overheat.
And like I said, it will take 30 to 60 days for that alternator to keep trying to put voltage back into that dead battery to get it up to what we call standing voltage.
So you'll need to watch those videos on our YouTube channel.
Then you'll get a visual of what it's like to test a battery and determine is it good, is it bad, or is it ugly.
So till tomorrow morning, stop in again for MotorMouth's Morning Drive at 8 a.m.
and we'll have more to talk about.
But that gives you the wrap up of how to keep your car running in the cold, in the cold weather.
Some of the basics that will really, really, really help you if you implement them, understand them, and get to understand your automobile just a little bit more so you know the basics and the basic fundamentals of how a motor vehicle works.
Guess what? You won't be as stressed anymore because then you'll know what you know.
And with whatever age group you are, size or anything other, everyone can learn the basics.
Absolutely, 100%.
And then you're going to save a whole lot of money and your vehicle won't stress you out near as much.
So till tomorrow morning, have a great day, happy, healthy motoring, and you'll find everything that we talked about in the Car Connection Workshop on our website at carconnectionbusinessnetwork.com, ccbusnet.com.
That's the biggest drawer we have in our toolbox that when you land there, you'll be able to connect with all our program partners, all their logos are there, just click, open their profile page and connect.
Top right hand corner gives you all the links to all the platforms that we are on. Share us with everyone you know to help us build our community large so that we can help others as well.
So our vision for everything we do is to be able to take care of the widows and orphans, fix their vehicles for free, and shoot the videos on them, show everyone else how to do it, how to maintain it, and take care of the entire tab.
That's our goal once we're completely monetized through our podcast and through our YouTube channel.
I don't need any more shiny things. I've got everything I'll ever need, and I'm very content. I don't need a lot, just a little. And if we can help others, let's give them a hand up, not a handout.
Give them and a fish. I was trying to get it out. Give them and a fish. You feed them for a day. Teach them to fish. You feed them for a lifetime.
Happy healthy motoring. We'll see you tomorrow morning for more of Motor Mouse Morning Drive. Make it a great day. Peace, patience, and kindness.
