It's a Q and Tosh.
It is.
It's the best you've swung on it.
Yeah.
No, we've noticed that.
Picked up on that.
The deed is warm up, dude.
It's a lot to digest.
You know what's funny is they didn't show his right foot.
Because you know where it's at?
I'm on a stool.
There's no, it's on an Apple box.
What drove you to move to Texas?
Actually, I got the phone call from Aaron Kaufman
to do a TV show.
I actually just ended up going by Gas Monkey one day
and standing at the fence like everybody else.
One of the guys walked out just saying hi to everybody.
And I said hi to him.
I told him I was part of the other team.
And he goes, what do you mean?
I go, I was on the other team.
He goes, I don't understand.
I kind of confused him.
And I told him that I worked for Aaron.
He's, oh, shit, come on in, man.
I want to take a tour of the shop.
Like then it was open game because I wasn't allowed
to go over there and visit when I first
worked at the other place.
You know what I mean?
It was, there was a lot of blood there between.
There was a lot of bad blood at the beginning.
Yeah, there was.
I'm sure they're fine.
They've talked in.
I haven't talked to Richard probably in probably a year.
But there we talked to a good bit, you know,
and texting back and forth and on different stuff and built text.
And I'll see if he answers.
I'll text Richard right now.
Text up high and you can kind of see when they're when they're
slammed, they look like that's what I think of.
I was like, yeah, he said all the good stuff.
All the bits of you enjoy it.
You were having a shit.
I'm sorry.
What's what about that?
What about what is it?
He probably thinks you're what's going on.

Josh, welcome to the show, man.
Honestly, thanks for having me, man.
This is I'm blown away that you found me, even though
to you, but we didn't find you.
We knew who you were.
Okay, we just got we just got to you connected.
Yeah.
Well, I'm already exhausted.
I just got here, took me on the grand tour.
It's unbelievable.
The facility you guys have here and what you're running
is unreal.
Obviously, I gravitated gravitated towards a fabrication
shop and was just blown away at your guys here.
Thank you.
Thanks, man.
I appreciate that.
Yeah, you just flew in today.
I did.
Yeah, fly out later tonight to just all in and out.
Yeah, I gotta get back to you.
That's the iron man in it.
That's gotta get back to work and the kids and first day
of school starts Wednesday.
So yeah, we got all that going.
So did you did you raw dog it on the plane, too?
Have you heard about that?
The new thing like not like we think no, this is the only
thing that's part of it.
Have you seen some horrible name for it?
But I know all the kids are talking about.
There's like these you know, they'll get on.
They call it raw dog and a flight.
So they'll go for like, you know, a six hour flight
and just stare at the seat in front of them.
No magazine, no internet, no video.
Let's just I actually just did it.
Did you really?
I did it on the way back from Boston when we left
the road tour.
So for you opted to do that.
I didn't opt to be so this is the deal.
So we went on the road tour.
Yeah, right.
So I prepare and I leave to go on the road tour.
Well, earbuds was not a plan because I wasn't
thinking about the flight back.
It's poor planning.
It was it was poor planning.
So but I did that.
So I planned poorly.
So flew Jody out, right?
We fly back, didn't think anything about it.
Go to the airport.
It was even crazy because I was kind of like excited
because everything ran through and was like, I don't have anything.
I don't even have to worry about anything.
I'm, you know, just free and clear.
I got a wallet and a phone.
Did they get you in security?
The red dot?
No, I've I've altered my I've done two things.
I've altered that Prince Albert out.
No.
This is going fucking sideways right out of the gate.
The first part is I got on a plane and realized I didn't have any earbuds.
And then also there was no in-flight entertainment.
So I couldn't even get earbuds from things.
So that was a two hour flight.
Did your wife with you?
Yeah, but she had earbuds.
So she wasn't she was not going to the raw dog.
So I had to.
So I just read a magazine.
But that's not raw dog.
OK, well, I couldn't do it.
I did. I did.
I did. Old school.
I need constant stimulation.
I played some. Struggle.
But do you want to see something absolutely amazing?
It's sitting next to him on a flight when he can't get his earbuds to connect.
Fucking mount down.
It's not really like it's like it's like sitting next to a toddler
that I was waiting for can't get candy back to the feet thing.
I was waiting for just feet in the back of the seat in front of him.
Just pounding. Hey, you will have in my defense, though,
you couldn't figure it out either.
It was a faulty piece of technology.
Yeah, you're having the same problem.
I think mine was connecting to yours.
Yeah, fucking blue tooth.
As bad as when they don't sell menthol cigarettes in a state.
Don't know much about that.
That was a tender tension. Yeah.
It was.
It was bad.
I was going to do an argument with the gas station attendant.
He better or worse than extra salad on your sandwich.
It was not that bad. OK. No.
Are you a no lettuce guy?
He is. You are.
And he always gets lettuce.
And are you the guy that there's a little strand in there
or anything like in your in your Taco Bell?
And I don't mind like I'll eat salad.
I like salad, but lettuce on my sandwich.
Yeah, I fucking hate it. Why?
It just the texture doesn't like belong on a sandwich.
You know, like an ice, crunchy iceberg.
Do you? And then when you go like Jimmy John's,
they do the shredded shit and it's not a fucking sandwich.
It's a it's a salad with meat.
It's not a sandwich with lettuce.
Shredded lettuce is trash.
Let me ask you something with me.
I'm telling you, I'm going to order it without it.
They're like, he orders every time.
Have you? It's always extra.
Yeah, I think it's time to be.
You know how long it took for you to admit on the.
Baseball card.
Yeah, it's like 20 years.
Have you ever experienced my son last week?
Have you ever experienced extra lettuce like that
when you're by yourself?
Wait, what the fuck are you all talking about?
Yeah, we got a lot.
So it's a baseball card and lettuce.
Well, we had a baseball card situation
that I felt really guilty when I stole
a Michael Jordan beam team card from Phil as kids.
And I had a guilty conscience for like 20 years.
Never said a word.
And it's the only thing I ever stole, probably in my life.
And I gave it back to him last year.
And yeah, told him how it like that weighed on me.
I do. I feel that was like a religious experience.
But as you punch, would you guys
give him a noogie or something for stealing your card?
Well, you know, it's a shame.
We had to put the dog down for eating it.
But dude, like the problem is it it.
Appealed to the inner bass in me
because the beam team was the sparkly card.
You had to have it.
And I just had it.
It was tainted for 20 years that you couldn't enjoy it
because it was tainted.
Yeah, it turns out that's not worth the shit, right?
No, it's worth like a hundred bucks.
Oh, well, I gave it to Cam.
It was pretty stoked.
The one my question, though, is it seemed like the extra
lettuce has always happened when we're all together?
No, it's never happened by myself to be a full disclosure.
Yeah, the odds of that.
Yeah, it's crazy.
Do you think these two have something to do with it?
Oh, it's quite possible.
I mean, this is as an outsider here.
I'm just now coming into this store
and putting the clues together
and it looks like y'all are involved somehow.
I think it's payback either for the card wouldn't surprise me.
Who knows what with him wouldn't surprise me.
It's been one or two times
or a sandwich almost went back the other direction
over the counter.
The lettuce has gone all over the floor a bunch of times.
Yeah, it just fuck you.
You scoop it and would you eat this shit?
I'll tell you, I had a little bit of a fit the other day
when you showed up with a fucking lemon lime
pedia light or something that you got me.
You go to the gas station and ask me what I want.
I said I wanted a citrus, like a tropical,
citrus vitamin water or something other than water.
He comes back.
They didn't have that.
So here's a lemon lime pedia light.
No, it was Gatorade.
Do you know where it went?
It was Gatorade.
Straight in the garbage.
Right in the fucking garbage.
You know, it was so thirsty, too.
What's the difference between a vitamin water citrus
and a citrus Gatorade?
I said citrus and then I followed it up with tropical.
OK, well, they lemon lime.
It's like pine salt.
Dude, it's like it's like a cleaning agent, any beverage.
They did not. Am I right?
I fucked some lemon lime.
Yeah, they didn't sell vitamin water,
nor does anybody anymore, right?
Because it's not 2006.
Nobody sells vitamin water.
They didn't have any vitamin water.
I asked specifically for vitamin water
and the guy looked at me like I was asking for a tape deck.
So I got you.
I got you.
Well, if you knew what a tape deck was, you shouldn't have
been fighting about it.
I mean, hey, is this your first argument?
So I've got the gate.
No, it's fucking this afternoon.
So I got you a citrus Gatorade,
but it's the Gatorade Zero.
It's like it's it's good for you to get them.
The yellow one. All right.
You threw a yellow Gatorade.
It was like greenish yellow. Oh, yeah.
It's the only. Yeah, it's here.
The cucumber one.
I want to throw something away.
Yeah, I'm going to tell you what, raw pickle flavor.
I would I would never have to throw it away
because I would see the word cucumber and that.
All right. I tried it.
That could ruin a sandwich, too.
You want to know that when we were completely off the rails,
you want to know what else sucks is when Phil decides
he wants some peanut butter M&M's
and he thinks they're peanut butter M&M's and their their peanut
butter jelly M&M's.
It's the worst disgusting.
So my daughter and I,
we found peanut butter and jelly Reese's peanut butter cups
and we were all pumped on.
Let's just try and see what it's like.
Garbage, absolute trash jelly.
So excited. We finally searched for months.
I could see that. It makes sense, right?
Good. Don't try them.
Here's a wild outlandish statement.
OK. Jelly.
Only can be in a jelly jar to be applied on things.
And when you take jelly and put it in other stuff,
jelly doughnut sucks.
Yeah, peanut butter and jelly candy sucks.
There's never time.
What about an uncrustable?
You're at an uncrustable.
Yeah, I hate them.
I know the kids like they're they're they're you're telling me.
Jelly sandwich. Yeah.
Well, yes, but it's a pre-packaged.
It's not you got a point there.
Jelly doesn't belong in anything.
Jelly or jam came out of the.
If you it's in my jelly.
Jelly jelly needs to be self-applied.
Fair enough. Yeah.
That it's a true statement.
Are you a great guy or strawberry?
Strawberry, we just had this conversation yesterday.
Really? Yeah.
Late in the game.
So we're at weird breakfast.
Yesterday, I said grape jelly, ruined breakfast.
Yeah, I'm I'm with you on that one.
I hate I hate great.
Yeah, it's it's a great start to this project.
It's an amazing start.
While we're while we're I need you to do me a favor.
Toggle through that O.W. screen.
Well, a couple of times and just see if something sweet comes up.
Well, it's it's going to be a he couldn't do it here.
I didn't do it.
It's going to be a really strawberry jelly on a piece of bread.
Elliott helped. Is it on here?
It's supposed to be.
Well, you're going to have to help me.
It's there's a lot of things on here.
That's sweet. That's sweet.
There's us. There's us.

It's not there. Hold on.
I told you, there's a lot of things on here.
Oh, there it is.
OK, that's hot as hell.
Yeah, I wanted something new.
But there's I wanted something.
It's not even branded.
Oh, in the background, O.W.C.
Oh, OK, I thought we'd mix it up this week.
It's it's nice. Yeah.
It's a Kuntash. It is.
Sylvester Swann.
Yeah, no, we've you know, it's picked up on that.
Dita's warm up soon.
It's there's a lot.
That's a lot to digest.
You know what's funny is they didn't they didn't show his right foot
because you know where it's at on a fucking stool.
There's no there's no way he's sitting there.
Straight like in the back.
Yeah, that's a low car.
I don't know. True statement down in peace right there.
I don't know. I don't know.
Although we will ask.
I think that's going to be a part of our new standard questions
when we get to it is going to be Burt or Sly.
I think it's on fucking Burt's back.
His other foot personally and face down.
He's roundhouse kicked him with those fucking sweet Adidas boxing shoes.
How many all had the Kuntash poster in your room?
Oh, I did.
Well, in the state room, but I had like the ones you get at the fair.
Oh, yeah, they came pre like framed.
Yep, I had the big long one.
I think my actually was white, not red.
If I'm not mistaken, I had a red white one is the 20th anniversary
or I had the Alpine poster to head Kuntash.
Alpine audio head unit.
Yeah. Then Jordan.
What about Jordan?
They had the wings.
The wings wasn't a Jordan fan.
No, let's be honest.
Did you had a Confederate flag in your room?
That was it.
That was probably it.
I just true.
I can't know what I'm supposed to say.
I mean, all right.
From the cell, so we're up in the south. Yeah.
Yeah, you know what?
I did bring a whiskey and I went to Target
and it's been aging on their shelf for many, many years.
Screwball, the peanut butter stuff.
No, I almost got that, actually.
I almost did just because here's the deal.
You're not going to get a high end whiskey.
I'm not even a high end whiskey guy.
I've known nothing about whiskey.
But I did get all of them.
Hope it's Target branded bourbon.
That would be we got the Trader Joe's branded one.
Something what an angel's envy.
Oh, not bad.
But these good stuff.
All right. Yeah, it is.
You don't have to drink it, whatever it's there.
It just couldn't come here empty.
Thanks. I appreciate it. Yeah.
I mean, it's not like you need it.
We're running every bottle helps.
I actually didn't see it up there.
I was looking earlier.
Well, let's let's get let's get into the
to the reason why you're here.
Let's talk about and I'm even more intrigued now
than I was before.
You know, we'd give you a little tour.
We drove over to the chassis assembly facility
and we're talking there.
So so Cal, Wisconsin, Texas.
Hmm. True.
So let's how do we get where we're at?
We're all how do we get to where others go?
Right? They make this.
That's yeah, it is.
It is actually good.
All all the spots are real good.
You know, I mean, I like I like all of them.
So my mom and dad met in the army
in Fort Hood, Texas, and that's where baby Josh was born.
And they got divorced, went back to Wisconsin,
back with mom.
Dad is from California.
So that's how I ended up eventually in California
as my grandparents every summer.
I'd fly out and visit so Cal, go surfing with my cousins
and uncle and and live the so Cal life during summer.
And as soon as I graduated high school in Wisconsin,
I moved to Southern California.
I actually tried to go to Pasadena Art Institute
for automotive design.
It was pretty decent at drawing
and always drew my dad's race cars, my stepdad's race cars.
Who was my dad?
Essentially, he raised me since I was like two.
So yeah, grew up at the circle track asphalt.
You know, watching him race,
always drawing the paint jobs on his cars or drawing his,
you know, friend's cars or whoever, building models,
little scale models, they cut them out with like exact knives
like all the little, you know, water transfer.
I would do, I would actually do stickers, I would get stickers
and then choose the color out of the sticker for and make my own,
you know, five star chassis sticker or make my own
because they didn't really have them back then, you know,
or my own Coleman engineering and different different little
little logos and, you know, try to do as much, you know,
the, the webber of, you know, the driver number 28.
Anyway, just constantly doing that kind of stuff
and into cars that way and then moved to Southern California.
Obviously a crazy hotbed for hot rotting.
And I knew that being there every summer.
And what happened with the art center?
I just couldn't afford to go to be honest with you.
I just underestimated I'm not a, I'm not a super smart guy.
And I knew that was going to be an issue.
I was going to have to rely on drawing
and kind of I didn't really even know to be honest with
them, just kind of going for it
and realized there's no way I can live in Pasadena,
afford insurance on a car and apartment.
And, you know, my grandparents
that brought me out every summer
in Southern California in Orange County
was just too far of a commute
to even think about making that happen.
I had a place to stay there, but there's no way
it would take me four hours to get there, you know?
Yeah.
Anyway, yeah, then eventually moved to Texas
after living in California until 2017.
So in a graduate high school in 96,
that puts a date on me there,
but I graduated in 97.
So I get it.
Yeah.
So anyway, yeah, that's what you do.
What'd you do in in SoCal?
Workwise, started off when I moved to SoCal,
I ended up, I was already doing collision repair.
I was a during school was called,
like they call it RLP in Texas,
but in California, they called it,
or Wisconsin, they called it co-op.
Yeah.
But so I'd leave half day from high school senior year
and go work at a body shop.
I was a painter's helper for a while.
And then when I moved out to California,
I expected to kind of just jump in and get a job
and couldn't find one right away.
So I ended up working at Craigon,
which is like a O'Reilly's or like an auto zone kind of place.
And eventually a guy came in,
getting some windshield wipers who live nearby
and ended up being a body tech.
And he told me, hey, there's some opportunities
over in Irvine, someone over there and checked it out.
And as a painter's helper for a while there
and then moved into body tech
and did collision repair as a body tech
for almost 20 years.
And then eventually just always building my own stuff.
I always had a body drop S10 that I was static dropped,
you know, static suspension, but a body drop truck.
So sitting real low on some billet 18s.
And one of the body techs picked up on that
when I was a painter's helper and said,
hey man, come on over and wanna be a body tech.
I'm like, absolutely.
I'd rather well cut and grind
than sand all day for me.
It's just not my jam.
But so anyway, that's how that happened.
And eventually just got to a place
where I worked at a small enough high-end shop,
working on some really cool cars.
Got taught by some really smart guys
that really knew what they were doing,
making sure panel gaps were right,
making sure the car was super straight,
priming it, blocking it, letting it sit out in the sun
for three weeks a month and then coming back in,
blocking it again and then priming it again,
really going through the paint process.
And also the metal taught me how to take well,
taught me a lot of everything I know today.
Obviously you build on all that,
but that was where all the base came from
and worked on like Lamborghini mirrors
and Ferrari, Dino's and Mazda Roddy's
and obviously the normal cars too.
I don't know, the van or whatever.
But just normal collision repair stuff
and then eventually it was such a small shop
that I had my own bay.
I was able to keep my own vehicles in there
and mess with things or a motorcycle
or whatever, BMX bikes and just kinda,
I had a key and was able to start
just kinda dealing with my own stuff
and that's kinda how my own business started
is wrenching and making other things.
It's amazing the amount of collision backgrounds
that we have, we don't talk about it a lot.
We talk about the collision part,
we haven't brought up that it's a running thread
with a lot of people we've had on the podcast.
It teaches a lot, it teaches a lot of the process,
it's huge.
It does, but it's also like what surprises me
is it's really not a natural lead in
or progression into fabrication
because it's almost so seldom
that you're really even welding in the collision shop.
Especially nowadays with spot welding
and absolutely everything comes.
Depends on the size shop and also in the era
because there is shops that were like.
You were still doing lead back in your days.
No, but there is a thing of like,
well, the smaller shop value like
money out of pocket for a part
versus be like well I'll just stay late tonight
and I'll just build that and fix that.
Right, not to go too far down the like insurance fraud
topic, but there's, you know.
Repair of a place.
Then there is some of that fabrication learned
that's a little more on the creative side of
making something structurally sound
but then also recreating what it was.
But you're right, it's not like you're
wheeling out a Honda Civic fender.
No, but I was super fortunate
where I worked out a spot where like I said
there was a 69 mirror SV there
that I was having to learn to take weld the hood up on
because it was cracked by the vents in the front.
You're not buying a replacement hood for that.
Yeah, you're not.
So I'm also getting taught how to do that
but yet also pro spotting on a new quarter
on a CRV, you know what I mean?
So learning the body side of it too as well.
Obviously doing the Bondo and not Bondo
but plastic filler.
But you know what I mean?
So I was fortunate that the shop would,
I was doing both.
So I think that's what translated for me then.
There's times I had to make things
for the SV or for the Maserati we did
or whatever, you know, did a ton of Porsche 356s.
And so there's a lot of work on those,
you know, remaking all the little,
you know, torsion bar covers
and I'm sure you didn't over pull them any tight in them
and deleting and making, putting the Europe,
I think Euro bumpers on with that.
Be right and getting rid of the big squishy
not a Porsche guy at all.
I mean, I dig them.
I just don't know.
Yeah, okay.
While the American versions of the 911 have big,
you know, crash bumper stuff,
that safety stuff, so, but anyway.
It does.
I think that there's a lot of kids
that have come out of that collision side of things
that, you know, you do, it's like,
like you said, it was a gateway drug.
It's an easier way to get your foot in the door,
so to speak, right, as a helper.
Right?
It's a little bit easier to get a job there.
Start making some money.
Start making some money
and start learning some stuff there.
And it does, depending on what's part of it
in the side shop and all that,
there's a lot of things that you can learn
outside of the fabrication side of things,
of customer service, you know,
they're, depending on the shop again,
like if you care about the customer service
and the quality, there's all kinds of little things
that you pick up.
I know they mean from seam sealer, right?
Doing, you can seam seal something to keep water out
and you can do it in a bad way
or you can do it in an OE way, you know?
And there's all kinds of little tricks
and things that you learn
that's funny how, you know,
20 years down the road,
you're like, I should do it like this.
And you've learned things.
And it's not saying you can't get to it any other way,
but it is funny, those tricks that come about,
I mean, hell, just panel bond
and different things like that.
I learned some shit about,
I learned how to completely misuse panel bond
or that into your body shop.
Well, if you're attaching two things,
then you're using it correctly.
Yeah, but when you're filling,
you're supposed to be using two-sided tape
and you use a panel bond.
When you level a car out and-
You're using it incorrectly.
And then you tape the bottoms of the floor pans.
It's not fulfilling.
And then you flood it in there
and then brush it in with-
Self-leveling.
You take a bunch of acid brushes
and tape them together
because you don't have a paintbrush there,
but you have acid brushes.
And then you-
Yeah, you're using it incorrectly.
Yeah, it's incorrect.
Cut them short, so they got the good pattern?
Yeah.
You don't have to prefer it.
Attachment?
Great.
Using it for a substrate or filler?
Incorrect.
An emergency repair, though.
Panel bond or,
I don't use a panel bond.
I've seen a guy take two billet pieces
that he made into a lug
that he had a crane.
He was lifting his Tesla truck.
He panel bonded two pieces
of machined aluminum together.
And lifted a whole entire plasma.
I mean, a whole entire Tesla truck.
So I mean, nowadays, that's no surprise.
If you've ever tried to cut a roof out
and leave the seam that's been panel bonded in,
you'll fully believe that it's structural integrity.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Shit is there.
When I was doing collision repair,
we would get,
when the chargers or challengers,
I can't remember which one would come out.
There was like two spot welds in the front
and two in the back
and the rest was panel bond.
Those roofs just glued on.
That's wild.
That's crazy to me.
It's, if you get the right amount of adhesion,
like I guess it's supposed to be stronger than any weld
and because of the surface area,
you do all those classes, you know?
So I mean.
So when you said,
what drove you to move to Texas?
Actually, I got the phone call
from Aaron Kaufman to do a TV show.
Okay.
Yeah.
So when he split from Richard at Gas Monkey,
he was looking for a fabricator,
a mechanic and an electrical guy
and all the things and all the spots
and it was the fabricator.
So he called me up.
It was really, really weird.
I'd met him the year prior in Arizona
at I guess it would be Dell show,
the Demos show.
And not Demos, I'm sorry, Dinos.
Dinos get down and just said hi to him real quick.
He actually knew the little mini truck
I built back in the day.
And so we kind of hit it off for a little bit.
He's a mini trucker kind of guy
in the scene for a long time
and his friend John is as well.
And so we met then I think one way or another
he got my number from Ronnie
and I guess the rest is history.
All of a sudden I got a phone call one night
just sitting in my dinner actually with my family.
And I thought someone was playing a joke on me really.
You know what I mean?
And then started talking about it
and then eventually just kind of became a real thing.
You know, after lots of back and forth
like man, I can't leave.
I just can't leave something.
I can take my whole family away.
You know, I don't know Texas
and blah, blah, blah and eventually did it.
This is his first shop after he left.
He was doing his four-wheel drive
and stuff like that, right?
Yeah, that's the first thing I built when I was there.
I actually ended up going there
and building a international scout
that we went that we took to King Hammers.
Okay.
And it didn't do well.
So the engine was the transmission
and engine weren't happy with each other.
It was such a low RPM motor
that the transmission wasn't
that your torque converter wasn't locking up
because it wasn't spinning fast enough.
And so I mean that's-
Did you use a panel bonder?
Yeah, we need more panel bonder.
I actually should just squeeze some panel bond
there probably even, you know,
the viscosity would have been a little better
and probably hooked up, but-
So how long did that last?
Not, I didn't stay the whole season.
It wasn't ideal for me.
The understanding when me moving out to Texas,
taking my entire family was that I would
have an eight to five style job.
I know that when you're building custom cars
and there's a timeline and there's TV involved,
that there's gonna be some extra hours,
but it was promised to me one thing
and then another thing.
And as it was an awesome experience
and the people, we were all in it together
because we were all starting together.
It felt like a great team and it was, it was awesome.
There's nothing we couldn't do amongst the five of us.
It just was too many hours.
I couldn't just bring my whole entire family out to Texas
and then just desert them, you know?
So how'd your wife deal with that?
She was like, we'll move you to Texas,
we're gonna have this great job
and have a nine to five.
It was tough.
It wasn't good.
Honestly, it wasn't good and that's why I didn't last.
You know what I mean?
Honestly, truly it wasn't a great time.
My wife will tell you that.
Obviously things are so much better now
with my own thing and it was even better than,
I'll jump ahead and I actually just ended up
going by gas monkey one day
and standing at the fence like everybody else
and one of the guys walked out, his name is Jason Anker,
he walked out and I was just saying hi to everybody
and I said hi to him.
I told him I was a part of the other team
and he goes, what do you mean?
I go, I was on the other team.
He goes, I don't understand.
You know, I kind of confused him
and so I actually got him to come over and engage
and I told him that I worked for Aaron.
And he's, oh shit, come on in man.
I wanted to take a tour of the shop.
Like then it was, it was open game
because I wasn't allowed to go over there
and visit when I first worked at the other place.
You know what I mean?
It was, hey, let's just really stick as a crew here.
Don't go over to gas monkey.
Let's really start building what we've got here,
which is smart on Aaron's part.
You know, let's keep the team.
Let's keep it, you know, it's really built.
And was there bad blood there?
There was a lot of bad blood at the beginning.
Yeah, there was.
I'm sure they're fine.
They've talked and whatnot, but I mean,
it was just, I can't speak for them.
Time heals all.
Yeah, sure.
But you came out there kind of thinking
that you're going to work for a shop.
But it turns out it was a little bit more of like,
this is a startup for a show.
Yeah, and I knew that it was going to be a show.
That was the only reason, that was the only pull I had.
I wasn't going to go, you know,
I had my own shop at the time.
So there's no way I was going to leave
to go to another shop.
I had it, I was doing it already, you know?
It was the TV that pulled me out.
And the opportunity.
Yeah, and the opportunity and get some exposure
and learn from a bunch of people
and meet a bunch of people and, you know,
kind of like this, you know, you come,
you come do things like this.
I could have done the zoom,
but you know, my wife's like, hey, you need to go.
Like it would be so cool if you go.
So we just jumped on and bought some tickets real quick
once I found out and, you know, here we are.
So the opportunity is just what it's about
and getting to know people.
Now, if I ever see you all again,
I can be like, hey, you know,
and it isn't just, you know, hey, you know,
like there's a little more, you know what I mean?
We say all the time, the thing I say all the time
is like one of the key things of like people's success,
whatever, you know, there's a lot of different stuff,
but it comes down to like right place
at the right time.
You've got to be at the right place at the right time.
You just got to be a shit ton of places.
This is true.
It's true.
If you never got an approach,
if you never leave your shop,
nothing's ever going to happen to you.
You know what I mean?
You're never good or bad, maybe.
Put yourself out there, uncomfortable situations,
have the conversations that you don't want to have.
But we were talking about today, you know,
fabricators in general, by nature, you know,
for the most part, general, overgeneralized statement.
There's a lot of introverts, right?
It's different.
You're artistic and you want to create,
you want to do a thing.
It's very rare when you see somebody
that's really good that way,
then also just be like, never met a stranger.
Just going to go up and have a conversation.
So it's hard.
Sometimes you got to do.
It's probably 50-50 on that.
You think so?
On the fabric.
I mean, you get a lot of guys like you said
that they just want to be like,
your hood down, don't fucking bother me,
headphones on, I'm just creating.
And some guys like chase the,
You know what I'm like?
Yeah, chase the limelight.
And there's either way, there's nothing wrong with it.
No.
These guys like to be a part of the big,
you know, the whole industry and the big picture
and some guys like, dude, just leave me the fuck alone.
Let me do my thing.
I'm both of those guys though.
I like to be in my shop.
I have a hard time leaving my shop.
You know what I mean?
I really like to be there,
but I also enjoy the shit out of stuff like this.
You know what I mean?
I enjoy talking and learning.
And you know, I mean, I've learned so much today
just from taking a tour of the shop.
It's unbelievable, you know?
I spent probably the first three quarters
of my career being like the first guy.
They're like, just leave me the fuck alone.
Let me just do my thing.
And then I was just kind of like forced into it.
You know, like you do a few videos here
because you got to market the product
and then you're at SEMA
and then somebody stuffs a mic in your face
and then it's like, shit, like I got to do this.
And then it's like, well, I don't like long for it,
but you get a little more comfortable with it.
But still, it's not about you.
You're not supposed to like it.
I'm still like, it's still work.
I'm still definitely the like,
if I had the opportunity to just like
hood down and get a good after it.
Yeah, after it, you know.
And now here you are, look at this.
And like 10 years ago,
we had pretty good relationship with Rob McGaffin,
a photographer and he'd shot, I don't know,
20, 30 cars and chassis and stuff for us.
And then one day he's like,
I saw a video your brother did.
He actually talks.
Like, I didn't know that he was like social.
Yeah.
You've blossomed into it.
Yeah, I can hear that a lot.
I'll grown up.
Dude, I've known you for 20 years.
You never said a fucking word.
No, like you're on a podcast.
Yeah, you won't shut up.
But the point is,
is even though it is out of the norm
or uncomfortable,
it's just like any other part of a task.
Sometimes they're shittier parts of the task.
Sometimes you don't enjoy them.
You can't sometimes pick and choose
which ones you're gonna swallow or not.
It's like, yeah, it's part of it.
I gotta do it.
Even not like putting yourself out there
to be famous or whatever.
It's just starting, a small shop starting out.
You go to that first little local cruise in
when a guy comes by.
It's not in a lot of people's norm to go up
and be like, hey, let me tell you about the car, blah, blah.
Or if a guy asks a question,
it's gonna be like, no, I'm gonna let the work speak
for itself and blah, blah, blah.
But then sometimes there's the dude
who wants to tell you all about the car.
I know that.
Dude, I can see the car.
That might be me.
I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a talker that way.
You go right into it.
What I usually do is point out the flaws,
which is like, my wife is well
and all my friends are like, dude, knock it off.
They don't see that.
They see the whole picture.
They think the thing's sick.
Shut up.
That's a part of my life.
That's all that you need to build yourself.
There's a proper amount of making sure
that you're accessible if that proper,
if that person is looking at your craft
and wants to possibly inquire or ask a few questions
because sometimes the guy that's willing
to spend some money may be a little bit
of an introvert as well, right?
So he's looking at stuff and he's like, man,
the guy's just kind of sitting over there
in his chair behind the thing
and he's like, got neck tattoos and shit like that.
Like, I don't even know.
What's that supposed to mean, dude?
Yeah.
He looked at me.
He even gave me side eyes.
Yeah, I know.
That's why I said neck tattoos.
I looked over that way.
I mean, if it was directed at me, that's why I'm here.
I mean, I don't need a side eye, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, I'll show you a fucking neck tattoo, dude.
There's mist back to the point
of being at a lot of places.
You don't want to miss that opportunity, right?
Right, yes.
And you read the room.
You know, the guy seems like he's interested,
blah, blah, you don't have to be like,
let me take 45 minutes away from you
and your wife and your kids walking around the cruise
but there's a, hey man, saw you checking it out?
Yeah.
You know, if you ever need anything, whatever.
Do you have anything?
There's a proper bit of the guy walking away
and be like, dude, it's a fucking asshole.
Like I was looking in his car and he couldn't even bother
to get up out of his chair.
And then there's the wrong way, like, oh God,
that dude wouldn't shut the fuck up, you know?
You've got to put yourself like,
I'm so guilty of it, right?
I've missed God knows how many opportunities
because I just don't put myself out there.
But I did follow, I'm smart enough to know
that you got to like surround yourself
with people that are better than you
in the things that you're not good at.
So having Josh around, like Josh is great at that.
So it works good.
But a good example, like Alan Johnson, great example.
Obviously that Alan was a fucking asshole, right?
Like for years, because he never, he never taught
but I'm the same way as him.
Like the two of us would have never spoken
to each other, probably ever.
It had just been, you know, I'm not.
And both turned around and be like,
that dude's an asshole, both of y'all is the same.
He's got a podcast.
Yeah, he's got that.
I have some more.
But you've like, once you finally have the.
See, I'm friendly enough with them.
Now we're friends enough.
I can do shit like that.
Because it, it took like, probably Josh connecting us
and like breaking, like because we're both
probably very similar.
But there's so many fucking people
in the industry like that.
But you've got it.
You mean you really got to dig deep
and put yourself out there.
Cause like I said, I can't tell you how many,
like, probably great opportunities I've missed.
Like I said, I'm a talker.
I think it bodes well for me.
I end up with the customers.
They really like to hear what's going on with their car.
If you're quiet about it too,
and they just keep on sending you that check every week
or monthly, however you guys build,
but like, and you don't talk to them,
I think that's, I always try to be,
I overshare obviously a bunch of pictures
and just talk to them, talk them through
and tell them how cool it's gonna be,
how different it's gonna be than anybody else is.
And I mean, you just can kinda
sell your work that way as well, I think.
I don't think you can kinda talk your way out of us.
I'm sure you can get annoyed,
but I think you wouldn't talk yourself out of work.
I think they would like that reassurance in my opinion.
That's just, what's worked for me, I don't know.
Sure, I just wanted to touch on it
because it popped in my mind as you were talking about it.
There's a proper level to it though,
because we've seen opposite ends of the spectrum.
How many shows have we gone to
and you're going around even judging cars
or doing pics or just walking
and just looking at stuff,
and you've had the employees that are there, right?
And they're just like on you, you know?
And they're super excited and stuff like that,
but it gets to the point like, all right, enough, right?
Hey man, nice car, thanks, we did this.
Yeah, but is that different for you
all because you're roadster shop guys?
Like you are the guys, you know what I mean?
No, I don't think, nobody knows,
nobody really knows who the fuck we are.
It's anybody that knows what,
look, I mean we've all been doing this for a long time,
so to me, I enjoy, on a certain car,
like it's cool, like Troy came out here
with their roadster and him and Adam.
Is this a sponsor check showed up yet?
That's coming, but they, you know,
that's a car that you need a tour of
because it's so fucking over the top.
So intricate, yeah.
But there's some cars, you just want to look at it
and you could take it all in
because I know what you did
and you don't necessarily need the like,
I don't need to know the patch panel that you put it,
like dude, there's a patch panel,
it's smooth, it's done, it's like,
and it's run-of-the-mill stuff.
Yeah, literally, shut the fuck up.
Let me just enjoy it.
I like it, I'm looking at it because it's really cool.
And I'm taking in all the good.
My point was, and maybe we're a bad example,
I mean customers are probably different,
but there's also the time when you're looking
at something and like,
what you're thinking is, you know,
that guy's an asshole
because the guy's just sitting behind this car
and he's like, that can't even bother to be like,
hey, nice car or whatever and he just kind of
gives you the heads up and you're like,
we don't need the dissertation.
Again, we're probably bad examples.
My point was, is there's a proper amount
of interaction with that person.
I've had many times I've walked up to a show,
you know, like the normal, not cars and coffee,
but something, you know, on the main street
of your local town and you see a cool car
and it's like the coolest one there
and you walk up and unfortunately,
the guy probably knows it's the coolest one.
You know, I mean, is this your car?
He's like, oh yeah, sick dude, thanks.
Like just walks away.
You know what he doesn't,
I want to talk to you about it a little bit.
I mean, let's, it's the coolest car here.
Let's, I'm a car builder, let's talk about it.
I apologize for doing that to you dude.
That was probably, that was pretty good.
I was down here.
Yeah, thanks.
Like not to derail as much as this is probably going to,
but we'll get back.
Speaking of car show interactions, the.
One of 311 FRC coupes in Arctic white.
Excuse me?
No.
It comes to like he's got enough on this podcast,
no more.
Yeah, not too much because nobody listened to it.
So it's like.
Don't you dare?
Cause if you joke about mine this way.
No, there's only one person that would joke.
No, the guy, the guy is that comedian.
I don't know what the guy's name.
The guy that goes around to the cars and coffee events
and then just puts fast and furious.
Oh, I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I'm hooked.
I'm dying.
I'm hooked.
And now they're getting like,
and he's got a helper and they're more.
Yeah, they're going deep too.
They're pulling out the deep cuts for sure.
I fucking love it.
Yeah.
Watching the inner the reactions of some of these guys,
it's really, really good.
It is how much to find what the guy's name is
so we can give him a shout.
But don't catch on.
You know what I mean?
Like right away.
This guy's in a driver's suit.
Yeah, he gets pretty far.
Man, I've listened to one of these like talking to you
for like a minute and just runs through the whole thing.
And then his buddy's there.
And I'm seeing the recent one.
I saw was the dude in the little Porsche replica.
Like the all-aluminium, yeah,
all-aluminium speech or whatever he's like,
what's under the hood there?
And he kind of points and the guy's like,
you know, under that hood or under that hood or whatever.
He's like, yeah.
And he just keeps going to the thing.
And then he does a Volkswagen turbo
and like all the different quotes
and it's deep cut stuff of, yeah, my name's Hector.
I can't pronounce the last name.
And he just goes in.
We got to find this.
That's all good.
I love that one.
He's got another channel too,
where he's like a SoCal surfer.
And it's just, man, everything's about giving a preach.
So you got to give a preach to grass.
I mean, it's just so green
and like the way the grass feels on your toes
and just goes on these like 15 minute like stoner runs.
Is that the dude that goes into like the-
Council meetings?
Yeah, town hall, please.
Yeah, is it the same guy?
You seen that?
I've seen that.
My buddy John, not John, it's like,
it's like Xander or someone like something like Xander.
He was saying that the surf was fucking epic today.
And so like, I think it's only fitting
that we all go down there and check it out.
You know what I mean?
Like just-
It's the same, it's the same guys that do that.
Cause they come, the ones that go in
and talk about opposing the bill
to a something about bearing arms, whatever.
And they're both in tank tops.
Like we've been working on these pipes for years.
Let's make sure the guy keeps saying-
All these old heads, all these old heads counts.
It's not pertinent to the situation.
It's so funny.
I though, again, off on tangent.
Yeah.
I've just, I've got to start getting out of my norm
cause I am full blown addicted to just the Ovan clips right now.
Cause there've been bangers one after another.
I saw him interviewing Hank Hill the other day,
like a cartoon.
Yeah.
It's a big sponsorship they're doing
for King of the Hills coming back.
What was at your house over the weekend?
He was just all night long playing him on the TV.
They're amazing.
They're funny.
Stuff he was telling Trump though I was dying,
in that, that's a serious interview.
Yeah.
He's talking about cocaine and stuff like that.
He's like, so you really struggle with it.
He's like, oh yeah, yeah.
The one though, he just did one with Joaquin Phoenix.
I didn't see that.
He just did a long interview with Joaquin Phoenix.
He had two things.
One, Joaquin asked him, his show's called This Past Weekend.
So he asked him, he's like,
so this past weekend, where'd you come up with that name?
He's like, should I start it on a Monday?
Yes.
And that was his answer.
And it's just such a way, you're like, it hits you.
Then he had a thing that he was,
when he was living in California,
he wanted to meet Joaquin Phoenix
and he knew where he lived because his friend told him.
So he had, the Ovan had this idea
that he was gonna start this shoe store
called These Boots Are Made For Joaquin.
And it was gonna be the name of the shoe store.
And it was only to do, he said he was gonna do
whatever he could to start this shoe store.
These Boots Are Made For Joaquin and he,
just for Joaquin Phoenix to see it and stop in.
That would be his opportunity to meet him.
He's like, and so he started laughing.
He said, would you have stopped in?
He said, oh yeah, we're stopped in.
He said, see, it would have worked.
I wouldn't have got to meet you.
I love when he goes so deeply.
But never mind, it's probably a bad idea.
Like he's a heel back pedal on it stuff.
He's so funny, man.
I love it.
He's fucking hilarious.
His cousins and his family and the people in his town
that he just, I don't know whether he's making them up,
obviously, but just everyone is,
he's to have to bury some dude's shit.
Like, yeah, I mean, in this backyard.
He's got a delivery that's unlike anybody else.
Because it's,
It's a heck of a sense of humor.
The first four words get you,
like in whatever he's saying.
Yeah, so I've got to purge myself from that.
I love Theo Vaughn, Shane Gillis, all those.
Shane Gillis is another, yeah.
Shane Gillis is most recent,
what is beautiful, beautiful dogs?
Is that what it's like?
Yeah, dude, unreal.
I've been watching the tires.
Oh, second season crush.
It's, I got to do that, yeah.
It's because there's such a sense of like realism in it.
Like, yes.
He worked in the tire shop.
Like, yeah, obviously.
He built out that whole tire shop
that I believe it's the, you know,
the, his co-star or the other guy,
the shop manager guy, I forget his name right now,
but he, his dad owns the actual tire shop.
That same tire shop.
They've got intimate knowledge
that not anybody else would.
And it's on a, honestly, it's smart humor.
It's, like, if you don't laugh at it,
then there's things you just don't know about.
That's fine.
It's not for you.
Smart humor for idiots.
Well, yeah.
Or for cars.
For car guys.
But I will say this, so the first season was great
just because it was Shane Gillis on, you know,
on a series, but his second season of it is far better.
It's crush.
Wait till he made his dad.
So dude from Wings.
Remember the show Wings?
What?
Way back that day?
Vaguely.
Oh, his dad in the show, yeah, yeah.
It's funny.
Yeah, it's good.
Second season is worth watching for sure.
I'm gonna have to dig into that.
His SNL was the best SNL they've done in 25 years.
Yes.
This was by far.
After he gets canceled.
By far the best SNL in 25 years.
He cracks me up with the Trump impersonation.
Yeah, Kill Tony.
Yeah, Kill Tony's just unreal.
So good.
I gotta take Kill Tony in snippets.
I can't watch.
You just watch the Facebook shorts
where they just recap like the bangers.
That's all I can do.
In 30 seconds to a minute.
And the rest of it's, yeah.
Dude, what's his name?
Is it Adam Ray or whatever?
The Dr. Phil?
Yeah.
He's phenomenal.
That whole group of people, you know,
Tom Seguro and all those guys are just,
it's all of my entertainment.
Like it's what I love to watch.
Have you seen the new ones
where he dresses up as Tony
and is sitting next to him?
It is so good.
I haven't seen that.
It mocks him for being down all the time.
That's a dude I'll never be on the podcast.
Stop.
We met him.
You did.
And Josh.
I give him a compliment.
Yeah, how you don't like him.
No.
Just came right out of the gate.
We went to...
I didn't say that.
We went to Rogan's, you know, comedy.
The Mothership.
The Mothership deal.
And we're in the green room.
And there's Tony Hinchcliff and he introduces us.
And like the first words out of Josh's mouth was like,
oh dude, it's crazy.
I honestly don't think you're that funny.
Like I've seen you a bunch and it's like you're not,
like I actually don't like really like you,
but like seeing you, you killed it.
Not at all.
And I'm like, I fucking clammed up.
I clammed up because I'm like, I can't believe it.
I think he's nervous and he's like saying shit.
He doesn't mean to say it.
It sounded so bad.
The first thing out of my mouth was
I didn't realize that you were that funny.
And then Joe, I know it wasn't the best way to say it.
I agree, but that's what I said.
Joe gives him shit about it.
And of course Tony doesn't give a fuck
what my opinion is, right?
I tried to clean it up after that and then I made it worse
because then I said, no,
everything I've seen before wasn't that funny.
So that's-
Yeah, well, exactly, it's like-
You just dug the hole deeper after-
Yeah, it was not, I didn't say it was great,
but it was not what you just said.
Was he channeling through your mouth?
I know, right?
The first one, honestly, I should have left it
because it was a compliment.
I didn't realize you were that funny
was a compliment if you thought about it.
You had a better choice of words.
Right.
There's a better way to say it.
You're not as ugly in person.
Right.
And on TV, you suck, but in person.
No, he had to grow on me too.
I definitely, because I listen to a lot of podcasts.
Obviously, I'm working away,
but I couldn't just listen to the podcast.
You have to watch it.
You know, the Kill Tony podcast?
Yeah.
His little voice, just after a while,
I'm like, dude, no, you know.
But seeing him in person and him do a full set,
it was completely different.
Watching the show, watching it instead of just listening.
Yeah, it was a completely different thing.
And yeah, 100% said it the wrong way.
And then-
Double down.
Joe gave him shit about it.
And I could have just let it go
because the motherfucker does not care what I say.
But I had to clean it up.
And trying to clean it up, I just smeared it everywhere.
Right.
Yeah, but don't get your guy anyway,
so it doesn't really matter.
They were stoned.
They didn't, I mean, whatever.
Yeah, the guy doesn't remember.
Yeah.
I guarantee you, no.
I guarantee you, he has never thought
about that night ever since then.
I'll bet you it comes up on a future comedy special.
It does not.
Yeah, he'd be like, he's gonna say so much.
Can you imagine?
Yeah, he's like, so there's this,
he's like a whiskey oil road,
like those fucking hot rods or something.
This guy is just a total bitch.
Total fucking bitch.
It's just me.
It came into my green room, fucking shit.
I'll bet it stung, dude.
I'll bet it, because it was so honest.
It wasn't like you were being funny.
It was just-
A dig.
A major dig.
If I would say-
You just said that to me to hurt my feelings.
No.
You say a lot of things that don't bother me.
If I were to say somebody,
oh, wow, I didn't realize you were so talented
or oh, I didn't realize you were so good looking
or oh, I didn't realize you were so funny.
That's not a bad way of saying it.
But then if you followed that up with like,
because everything I've seen you,
every time I've seen you, you're not good looking.
Right.
I know, the cleanup was the problem.
Okay.
I should have left it at the beginning.
Exactly.
I didn't realize you were a good car builder.
Everything I've seen before wasn't that good.
Right.
Yes, how would that-
Yeah.
Oh.
I remember that for sure.
Yeah.
I would definitely remember that.
But this one though is great.
Like, I don't know, did you have help on this one?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Did Joe write all your tags or what?
Because I've seen this one and this one and this one
and they were all bad.
So we hate you and you never get them on the podcast.
That's what we come to the conclusion.
It wasn't coming on any.
He doesn't even know that we went to Yellow Corvette.
A brand new Yellow Corvette or something like that.
Like, if I've heard right, I've seen the podcast.
We could probably have the matching vest.
We could have fun with that.
And the belt buckle and the-
I think on a comedy level, we could hang with him
on making fun of him for a Yellow Corvette convertible.
Yeah, for sure.
The ball busting is the best when they have-
Some of the regulars come on.
They just start showing shots at each other.
It is great.
Like the protector parks and stuff like that
where they're just having at it, it's always good.
Again, back to another.
We gotta name it.
We gotta name our pre and post paid for subscription
of the Oil or Whiskey.
This is-
Probably have to do waivers.
Probably have to do waivers.
That's gonna be-
I'm thinking voice over and animate it
and you're totally fine.
You can get away with a lot that way.
Anything that's a cartoon.
South Park has gotten away with it.
Came back now, you see that?
Oh yeah.
Give us some butt head or back.
Actually, I'll call a duty instead too.
It's hilarious though.
I just-
Leave us some butt head, it doesn't hold up.
No?
I think it's fine.
It doesn't hold up.
I like it.
But it's just your teenage humor
that is what you were dying with now.
It's your older and the back.
I was never like a big South Park fan.
I just never got into it for some reason
but it is fucking hilarious.
And it's-
The other night, I'm laying in bed
and I turned it on just because
there was nothing else on it.
I'm just digging through.
You'll get hooked on it.
And my daughter comes in, she's 12
and she's just like staring at me like,
you watch this?
You're watching South Park?
She couldn't figure out like,
it was really disappointing to her.
Oh really?
She was bummed.
She was like bummed that I was-
Oh.
Yeah, she just didn't like it at all.
It's not for kids, it's for adults.
I know, but to Phil's point,
I mean the things they get away with
just because it is animated.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
They just changed the name of something
but it sounds the same.
You know what I mean?
I can just say it over and over and over.
The white lost drug called Lizzo.
Remember when all the Harley guys
rolled into town?
Did you ever see that one?
Yes.
Oh my God, man.
It's beautiful.
I've seen more of them than I should.
But we got to name whatever that is.
And that's the thing, my point was
that's the thing that you like to see that banter
and there's just those little snippets of like,
oh shit, he's pulling out personal stuff
that he knows because they're friends
and we're getting a little bit of a glimpse in that.
So were you lying to me in telling me
that the cameras weren't on earlier?
Oh yeah, we're 100% using that.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're using that shit for sure.
I just saw Tom Sigoura's new special, right?
It's an opening scene.
When he goes to the gym, dude,
it just keeps taking the wheat crash shots, brother.
That was the hardest episode to watch.
I was telling him about it
because he didn't see it yet
and not watch it.
I'm like, dude, you're not gonna believe it.
I was like two episodes behind.
He's like, he even got to it?
Yeah, I was like, no.
Dude, the Mexican cat in the old folks' home,
like where the Spanish guy or whatever he was
in the old folks' home.
You didn't see that one.
Oh my God.
You got to watch that one.
You don't talk about it or no?
Yeah.
His mind is fucked up.
Yeah.
He's funny as shit.
He's sitting on the dude's lap.
Yes.
That was a little much for me.
But he brings it.
The thing is, he brings it back full circle
all the way back at the end.
The V.
Yeah, I've got, yeah, my poster.
It's so bad.
My pre-show here was nothing like
an episode of Tom Sigoura's.
Bad thoughts, right?
Bad thoughts.
That's,
I've seen some bad stuff.
The VR goggles.
Yes.
The game.
What was it?
I haven't missed it.
Yeah, the VR goggles.
Yeah, the IT guy.
Yes.
He's in the corner.
He just brings it back full circle.
Anyway, so you're standing out there at the gate.
I've actually been to that facility several times
on the gate.
Could come back.
Yeah, I'm going to bring it back.
You've never been to Gas Monkey?
Never been.
So the shop's going to shape like an L in the front half
is where the offices are and like a little,
sorry, a little showroom area
where Richard keeps coming with his cars.
So you can kind of see into there
with the actual shop that we're building in
is, can't see it from the gate,
but there's a gate that runs along the whole thing
all the way over the merch side.
Keep the riff raff out.
Keep the riff raff out.
Had the best name for him ever.
What's that?
Richard had the best name for him.
It's when the walking dead was coming out.
You call them all the walkers
because they're just on the fence like this.
Yes, I wouldn't have said that, but yes, that's what it is.
So anyway, when they're out there,
they go to the merch shop and then they'll come by.
And it's crazy because the place is not like here.
This is beautiful.
Your surrounding area is unreal.
It's like such a nice area to be in.
Over there is just-
Office Park, industrial park.
Have you been?
Mm-hmm.
Several times.
There's like a limestone quarry behind it.
And so it's just all dusty back there
from dump trucks and semis running all day long.
So it's not like people have to want to go there.
And it's crazy how many.
You don't happen upon it.
You know what I mean?
There's some massage parlors down over that way.
There's a gas station.
Yeah, then it would make sense
that you're like in the area and you're just-
Right, right.
After taking care of business, getting loosened up,
you want to swing by and grab some merch.
But anyway, people have to want to go there.
And it's crazy how many people go there.
And they're just standing at the fence.
It's unreal.
I mean, bus loads, it seems like, you know what?
So anyway, I was standing at the fence one day too,
checking it out and Jason came out and I told him
what I told him and he pulled me in
and I met Mike and all the guys and stuff
and just kind of told him my situation.
And so that it didn't work out over at Aaron's place
and he goes, man, you should come over here.
There's AC and it's bitching.
I'll talk to Richard for you.
So I gave him my number and I first kind of inquired
about other fabrication shops
because I was looking for a job.
I was essentially out of a job.
I'm out of where I literally just moved
my entire family here, my whole entire home.
That wife is super happy.
Wife is super stoked.
She's stoked.
Now I'm literally out of job.
Is she working?
You got kids at this point or you stay at home?
So you're the provider?
I'm the provider.
She does provide as well.
You know, obviously she's doing a ton of work
with the kiddos and stuff, but yeah.
Good blood, dude.
That was good.
That was nice.
She's an autism mom by the way too.
Yes, that's another thing.
So yeah, we have a little guy that's on the spectrum.
Great kid.
He's awesome.
Super high functioning.
He's a great dude.
I got an older daughter, 16 Emma Gage
who's 14 and then Molly who is 10.
And so we're up to our eyeballs and little people.
I got a 12, 12 and 14.
Yeah, so it's a lot at this moment from cheerleading
to softball to brick labs and all these different things
that Gage does and Emma does and tons of stuff.
So anyway, she's busy.
But the point of the story was
I needed to get another job pretty quick.
So fortunately, I happened to stop by there
and met Mike Coy and I don't think Mike's the best,
but you met Mike,
bought hit a guy at the Courtney's party
when we were at Vegas at the museum last year.
You 100% met.
Yes, yes, yeah.
He's honestly such a good person.
He has a really cool big piece of property
that has a pond on it and stuff.
So invited us out there to recycle racer.
Yeah, absolutely.
And so we went fishing on his pond stuff.
So it was kind of like a first friend out there
really that kind of kept us busy,
got me doing things and stuff
and then eventually gave my number to Richard
who then, whether he hired me
because he needed a fabricator
or if he did it just to spite Aaron,
I'm not quite sure of that.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
I got a job.
I got a job.
I actually ended up getting back on TV
which was what I moved out for
which chasing that camera, which is not the case.
But it was, I thought it would be a good way
to kick off Freeman's fabrication.
I just kind of opened up Freeman's fabrication in 2015,
got the call 2017.
Really just bare bones starting it out,
trying to figure out how to even run a business
and stuff like that yet.
And so to quit was kind of tough
because I was just kind of starting to get rolling.
Really wasn't making any money yet
but I thought this would be a great way to do it.
And I built a truck for my son
and right when I started the shop
I kind of quit my body shop job to build this truck.
I sold my daily driver to help pay for it.
And we moved in with family to help with gauges.
We had like a bunch of schooling gauges
doing like 40 hours of schooling a day.
It's called ABA, Applied Behavioral Analysis
and stuff like that.
So we moved in with family to pay for that.
Fortunately my wife's family was nice enough
to let me not or not have us pay rent
and be able to start a business.
So I built Hammerhead which is a 64 Chevy truck
that we kind of built for gauge.
It really wasn't intended for gauge initially.
It was just a way for me to get started
but then with gauges autism hitting pretty hard
and stuff it just, he didn't want anything to do
with me really he was all mom.
He would stay up for three or four days at a time
and be just not eating and stuff
and just kind of.
To figure out a way to lure him.
Correct, so I mean just a way to,
for me I had to figure out a way to keep my sanity
kind of, you know what I mean?
So I thought.
Did the cars resonate with him?
Is that something like.
He loves sharks, dinosaurs, stuff like that.
So that's the reason the trucks named Hammerhead.
If you ever see the truck it's got a big,
you know the 64 Chevy grill.
It looks like a Hammerhead that kind of wide.
So we painted it like a grayish color
but anyway that was my way to kind of cope with it I guess.
You know what I mean?
It maybe wasn't a positive thing maybe a hundred percent
but I did it and it ended up turning out great.
It was a good, yeah there it is.
It was a good way for me that's kind of like I said
that's my way to deal with things
is just put my helmet down like you do, you know
stay quiet put your helmet down and get to work
kind of thing.
And so we built that and that was kind of a good way
to jump off for Freeman fabrication
and then that's how I ended up earlier
like I was saying I was at Dino's
and met Aaron and then got the call
so now it's kind of all coming together.
I apologize for the convoluted story.
Yeah dude we're known for like really
staying on track is so structured.
That's the things that the listeners love
is the fact that we just go from topic to topic.
Well I hope you all are following.
The point of the story is I built the truck,
started the business.
It was a way to start the business
to getting exposure with that truck.
Let's give it to the truck.
And then thank you and then you know
then I got Aaron's attention enough to give me a call
and yeah there it is.
There's a ton of work into that thing.
I could go into you know there's two inches added here
there's this but you don't want to hear any of that right
because you're just enjoying it.
It's just enjoying it.
It's on the ground I can see that right.
The rockers are touching the ground.
It's I built the chassis but.
That's cool.
I like the color.
The color's sick.
I would actually ask you what color it is.
It was a Jeep renegade color at the time
but I added blue to it.
So it was like that grayish you know that
they called it SEMA gray at the time.
Hood to cowl stick.
I feel like a hood to cowl stick.
Good observation.
Yeah.
I may have set like a bad maybe bad example.
People moving forward I feel like are gonna
because I'm so approachable to begin with.
Yeah yeah yeah.
No one else is gonna want to talk to you
because they're gonna be like this guy's a fucking asshole
and if I talk to him about my car that's not the case.
Do you think they want to approach you though?
Probably not.
Probably most people probably not.
Right.
You've got a face of like.
They're giving off a look.
Yeah.
You think that's what it is?
It's not a bad face.
It's just a face of like for real.
It's like if you were on a buffet
and you're coming through you're like eh.
I don't know exactly what that is
but I'm sure there's probably something better down the line.
I didn't catch that.
That's.
I didn't catch it when I tried.
I'm talking about his face.
You didn't catch that?
I didn't actually.
I hate that you said because that makes,
that hurts.
Oh.
The buffet reference.
Oh wow.
Because I know exactly.
You know exactly.
I don't know.
It's probably fine but what if.
Yeah.
I don't fucking hate that.
You just throw it on the plate.
Just to check it.
How bad are you gonna be?
There might be like roast beef down there.
Yeah.
Exactly.
There might be the meat cut.
You don't wanna fill up on this crappy protein here.
There could even be the infamous chocolate dessert.
At the.
There's no guarantee that you're not the best
but there's still more to be seen.
There's a guarantee that there's something better.
That's what you're saying.
No.
That hurts.
Really?
Bad.
Yeah.
Yeah it really does.
He's crying over here.
One of the more hurtful things you said
but that's a good looking.
You don't show up for easy.
You show up to chase the rep that scares you.
The tempo that shakes your legs.

To Richard and whether he like I said we hired me in spite
or whatever either way I got the job
but I was at Waterburger with my buddy I was helping him do.
He does punch contracting so any homes that are brand new
he works with builders if there's a crack in the seam
or you know the movers hit the molding I'm fixing stuff
I'm hanging stuff and I was at Waterburger
and I got a phone call from Richard and it blew my mind.
I mean to be talking to Richard that's another thing
to do.
I mean I watched that show growing up and sure I mean
grown up but I mean watch that show.
Oh you can say that Richard's old as fuck.
Did he call with a lot of intensity
or did he call just like hey man.
The first thing he said was yeah when I knew who he was.
But no I mean it was pretty cool.
Hey man this is Richard and honestly
that guy's been amazing to me and my family.
I can't say nothing but good things about him.
He's been upstanding with I mean even when it's like
hey this is what we're gonna do
as far as your scheduling and working
and all that stuff he was true to it you know.
Whether it was helping out with when we went out to dinner
he goes go check out this place when we got there
not just that money's a thing but when we got there
we were waiting for the bill, the check
and it was already paid for.
The thing for our anniversary or for my birthday
or something like that my wife came down to the shop
picked me up and we went down to Dallas and Aten.
He'd already called ahead and paid for it.
Just little things like that that he doesn't have to do.
He definitely doesn't have to do it
and he'd still be the same guy that he is
but he does those little things so I mean
I had a great time there.
It was a little tough with some of the guys at first
because most of them were there for a really long time
and now I'm coming in and why are you here kind of a thing?
You know what I mean?
I'm already fabricating and I'm already you know
or whatever you know whatever the title was
or whatever I got put on that's normally what I do.
So I'm like it was hard to find my spot there initially.
Was Kenan still there?
Kenan is the best person I think ever.
Like he is just a workhorse and chill
and funny as hell.
So yeah I love Kenan.
Yes he was there fortunately I got to work
with him for three years.
He's still at Casey's?
I believe so yeah yeah yeah I mean
once the show was over and we all got kind of let go
and a couple people stood I mean stayed behind
and helped out a little bit until you know
a couple I think they did an OBS or something build
like after the show was over for YouTube and stuff
and some of them were there some of them weren't
but I think Kenan left and went back to Casey's yeah.
Were you just like a really big fan of the show
or do you know all these guys?
I was blown away that you know who Kenan is.
I know Casey really well
and I know that Kenan went to work for Casey.
I also I knew Aaron pretty good.
I've been Aaron's house a couple times
and hung out with him there.
Just his dogs at the time.
He aimed drop and like fucking crazy.
How we've just done stuff I remember we took.
We get it you know all the like big names
in the industry.
We were out there.
Awesome.
When we built Tim Spencer's Mustang.
You might know it it won the shine award.
We were out there.
We were out in Texas and.
Tell me a little about the car.
Tell me a little bit about the car some of the mods.
No anyway we were out we were out in Texas for good guys
and I knew Aaron so we brought the car by
for some of the guys to see then we went
and hung out at Aaron's house that night
and I've actually been there a couple of the times
and this is when this is this is back in heyday.
Yeah.
Aaron was still there.
Yeah.
And.
Fasten on.
So we just always stayed in touch.
We've been friends with Casey for a while.
I've never really spent much time with Kenan.
I just knew that Kenan went to work for Casey.
But I was I was I watched I watched pretty much every episode.
I was I was a big fan of that stuff here.
You got.
Regardless of the show regardless of reality
regardless of stuff you had a lot of our industry.
People brands and all that stuff you know going on.
And they did show they did show a lot of stuff in the show as
well a lot of the building which I liked you know what I mean
there was yeah you see what was going on some of the shows
they didn't do that and I appreciated that about that
and that's one thing honestly when I when I got there
I didn't know what it was going to be like
because I've been around some other shows and stuff
and some of those cars aren't really cars
you know what I mean these cars were real drivers
I mean sometimes you know obviously off camera
you had to you know fully bleed the coolant system
a little bit better or whatever you know what I mean run
through it run the bugs out of it who wants to see that
nobody wants to see that but but really truly
an actual running nice functioning car that was
could be sold and not have to get redone
you know what I mean so I was proud of that
the process is what I learned a lot from there
actually is just the they were they were
each had their own little thing like I was saying
earlier I was kind of jumping in on things
and it's like no I do that no I do that
I'm trying to find my place because TV actually
was a you know the camera was a commodity there
and so if you could get on the camera
like you know there was some animosity fighting
with other guys for they would fight with me
and in because I was the new camera so the
camera guys would on be like hey new guy
what do you got going on you know what I mean
and then it'd be like you know there would
always be a second person in on the scene
there that was a little bit of the problem
but you know once again as as the time
rolled on it got better and better and
better but was the woman that did the
upholstery as nice in person that she
came off on TV what was her name
Sue I sat with Sue before she's nice lady
honestly she just likes giving Richard
shit you know me I'm fat I mean everybody
gives every gotta be gotta be watching for
that little yeah we talked about it
before a couple times and Richard's been
on Richard and Dennis did the show and
probably need to run that one back that
one was a little bit of a Richard's
been the only guest to order pizza
during podcast it was delivered it was
full throttle Richard's where it was
Richard and Dennis so you know exactly
how that is that's that's a you too
that's a that's a that's a measuring
contest for two hours right I think they
had that was pre-garage beer but they
had a number of beers in them
they came on they came on tipsy and
ended I was like mid-party and they're
like oh should we got that podcast
don't let's do it don't ever try to
go beer for beer with Richard oh no
I mighty man I I have a lot of respect
for Richard as a person business person
right hundred percent I don't take all
car bill take everybody wants to say
what they want to say on style and
wild but I don't care about that yeah
with you the stories you know the
that we know the stories that we
learned about on the podcast and then
you know our interaction I haven't talked
to Richard probably in probably a year
but there we talked a good bit you
know and texting back and forth and
on different stuff and Bill text him
now see if he answers I'll text Richard
right now Texan fucking dropping the
shit out of fucking name they're piling
up right next to you I can see him in
between there's a pilot over yeah let's
text him I think you guys might fight
this one hey Richard be it's pretty
wild today I'll call it hey Richard
what's up it's Josh and just leave it
at that and I'll bet you the next for
if there's a response it's gonna be
Josh question mark should I text as well
and see if he responds that'll be
like yeah it'll be Josh Freeman
question mark I'm gonna do this it might
not be fair it was just there last week
oh that's fine what are you putting in
there that's a long text it's not just a
hey you got this let's sit down you
win right is that how that works you
should we'll see give them one we'll
see the point the point is is the
amount of things that he's done gone
through the tenacity there's there's
just there's just a yeah there's
something deep inside him that this guy
this guy just get it go after it from
little things like I heard a story just
the other day from Mike actually that
they were in a sprinter cruising along
which is like pull over our ticket
piss he jumps out take a piss on the
side of the road and there's a hundred
dollar bill blown in the weeds right
there like he's just that guy he always
is lucky we were playing quarters
you're at the way yeah we were at some
high-end like a car show where ladies
wear hats and you had to be dressed up
and whatnot Kentucky Derby and yeah
something like that but it was her
cars a pebble beach Texas Pebble Beach
kind of thing I don't know they call
it but anyway we're playing quarters
and he was fucking hammered I'm like
dude I'll bet you a hundred bucks I
you know we were playing quarters
against there was a whiskey glass up
against the wall on a little short
table like they would move the end
table over this motherfucker damn near
tossed it over her shoulder and made it
in you know they mean I fucking didn't
even hit the table I don't think but
but it's pretty it's pretty wild how he's
that clutch guy he's that guy who can
make something out of nothing at all
he's in just into with TV stuff I don't
mean to sit here and just fucking no
it's awesome he's but honestly I mean
you're drinking his beer and stuff like
that on time I mean whatever thank you
for this but you had it here yeah I
did we just appreciate it we're taxing
him and stuff he was kind he sponsored
he sponsored all the beer at the
Roachers shop that's an RS party it's
the same he's sent he's sent pallets of
a road shop party real quick my wife
actually won a 50% off of something a
borla exhaust at one year roaster shop
parties
although that would have been did she
cash it in she didn't you know it's
in sorry it's expired don't call us
now I'm actually here for it now it's
why I'm here how big a suitcase you
got yeah carry on carry on it's my
supporting cost I'm waiting yeah you're
ready to get he said hey man you get no
we did not what's going on no we don't
see it you got it he said you got a
second there's a good chance that since
that's an Android it didn't actually get
sent I could call right right showed a
blue and he was like yeah but he is a
hey I got a lot of spec for me yeah
he's cool on the podcast we we met him
like so early on yeah he was showing
up on the scene in like the early
2000s at like good guys natural and he
was back to the 50s he came out there
with bull run days with the rat rod
right he had something so different than
what everybody else was doing it from
the outside looking in you're like who
the fuck is this ass yeah I saw my
early I guess the fucking huge as truck
and yeah but he had an image and he
had a goal and I respect the hell I
guess he just stuck with it yeah and
it's it landed dude and he knocked
out the fucking part yeah you know
it's nobody understood it you know they
didn't but he knew what he was doing
yeah you know it's funny parts to sell
merch yeah I'm not being this is not a
dig or anything I'm not trying to be
an asshole no not this isn't yeah this
is to you to this is you to practice it
with that you said you talked about
like when he showed up on the scene
you're like who the fuck is this guy
that was the exact same thing everybody
said about you to really you you two
and and your dad with the toter home
showing up at the shows with all
these chassis it's it's like I know you've
been doing shows but not in a bad way
it's like where the fuck did this come
from and it really was and that was that
was the buzz around was it always here
we'll see how we were out in Elgin
little West like 30 miles west tiny
little shop yeah okay you you've been
we've all been there before when
you're like that looks a little bit
like too good to be true flying too
close to the Sun try peeking too
early all those different types of
you know statements where it's like
that's and then now look but it that's
that was a thing it's just funny here
and you say that interesting to see the
perception of it from somebody else's
eyes yeah because I know like I know some
of the rumors right you know oh yeah
that doesn't want it wanted to believe
that doesn't matter yeah but regardless
of any of that it would there was
the the facts were holy shit you show
up on a big stage the biggest possible
way the biggest possible rig the best
looking rig with the most amount of
chassis sounds pretty awesome over
overnight seeming like and then do that
smokes the most amount of cigarettes
to like that had to be a part of it
he you yeah that's even me had times
like dude we just smoked one we don't
have to go out again I'm surprised we
didn't get we're talking about their
debt yeah okay I'm surprised there wasn't
any like clawback from good guys after
when you're pulling away the pile the
cigarette behind like the hand and it
would just be pacing all day and then
you know he wasn't like you are not
that I care but he was like risk you're
like respectful if you like die a
cigarette out now watch you pick and
I'm like why are you picking it up
because for you know 35 years I grew
up in my dad fucking cigarette was
just you know wherever the fucking
went there's no time in a place I
mean depending on where we're at but but
there had to have been a carton would you
say probably carton a cigarette over a
good guys weekend there was a carton
that's why he's two pack a day guy right
if I would say this it's a this is the
best way to describe it if you're
having a conversation there's always a
cigarette lit yeah however many that is
for however long the conversation is
right so if you're talking there's
not a time when a cigarette's not lit
and if and that's I'm honestly that's how
why any of this like it's why I exist
here it was because of Neil it's crazy and
because I don't even because of cigarettes
if we really it goes back to tobacco we
all we owe it all to tobacco yeah I lie
my mom smoked really I take that back
but I mean none of my friends smoking
shit like nobody smokes cigarettes
anymore how you don't know a bunch of
cool people then yeah the coolest
people first time I just saw him
the first time he was outside so he is
which like part of it I'll give it to
him like there's an element of cool
about it because it's so old-fashioned I
know many friends that took it out like
we were 21 just to go out and meet
people you know what I mean I hate it
or whatever like outside the bar or
whatever but there's also the same
element of like it pisses me off the
exact same way it did with my dad
that like you're in the trailer it's
fucking 90 degrees and there's always
like there is no you're so not
cognizant of you don't smell a lot of my
smoke how inconvenient it is for others
I don't smoke in the truck when you're
all around there I don't smoke when
y'all are in the vehicle and I don't
smoke a lot around I'll step I'll step
off I've been I've been better at it
I will say this when we went to go see
the chassis shop and I knew you smoked
I was like I hope he doesn't smoke in
the car with me oh no I don't do that
and you didn't but I'm just saying
truly that was the thought that went
through my head because I don't like
it for whatever reason whether I'm
allergic and I know that people
have strong stances about it so
should try doing what my dad used to
do you just hold the cigarette back
here and then it would go back there
during conversation but when we were
working on shit together it was just
in the fucking mouth in your face is
pops though now no he passed was 2019
do you mind if I ask to vacate him
no so here's the thing okay talk some
shit yeah he died of cancer right but
his lungs were the last thing to go
the fucking mint mint
okay what just fucking not inhale or
what like 16 years it was the best gift
he ever gave me I was like oh so I can
keep going yeah fuck yes let's keep
going six six and 16 years old like two
packs a day and then once he got
cancer he thought now it's time like we
should probably stop not double down
no he did stop and then took up
cigars and then started smoking
sugar chain smoking fucking cigars yeah
right why which just think about what
that came out of your inheritance
because I was left with nothing it was
all like marble miles I remember like
going through that time and like
traveling and stuff and like now that
then the pelican box you know the
travel pelican box showed up and he's
like I'm transitioning to you know
cigars like oh okay that's what's in the
whole that cigars oh yeah we're going
gone four days dude that's that's a
that's a small store like you could
literally start a pop-up cigar in
Vegas and have and have enough for the
weekend it got to the point to we
we had a connection we got a good
body Garfield's like I don't know we
can oh we don't have to okay because
he'd hook up it's legal and then he's
got a cigar guy to right the trading
bar goes up Cuban cigar Cuban cigar
guy will a case a box a box of Cuban
cigars about $900 right holy shit the
ones that he and every time he'd be
like hey you talked to Dave it grab
me another box we're gonna make yeah
we're in a box well he didn't pay for
him right okay 900 bucks 900 it's like
20 got spent like 20 grand and you're
gonna be in cars like that's insane
yeah just fucking Cubans and the living
it yeah the cigarettes though like that
was that was our the conversations and
the things I learned just strictly by
having cigarettes and popping out and
smoking but I thought you give me shit
all the time because I'll we'll go out
to dinner you know the four of us like
our wives or friends and we'll tolerate
each other we'll go to dinner and stuff
like that really yeah and order drinks
have some drinks get some appetizers
and then or you know waiting on food
I'll pop out and have a cigarette
cigarette dude fucking killing me
fucking shit's got to stop good now we
were on the when we were doing the
circuit when we were doing the shows
every single weekend we go out to
dinner Thursday night after setup
Friday night after a show Saturday night
after a show right always every all
three nights texting during the day
where we going at Phil's texting me
hey start finding some places for
dinner we would smoke before we went
in we'd sit down order drinks have
a sip of a drink go out have a
cigarette come back have a taste of
appetizer and I'm and I'm like man we
could sit there and eat and are you
talking YouTube or no me and me and me
and you don't you don't I don't know
cigarette me and Neil and it was all
and he'd look at me like happy I did
we just literally just got done I'm
smoking 100s he's smoking regulars
and I've I've already gone through half
a pack but shit it's different when
there's two people though I feel like
it's less rude sure when you get up
really look like an asshole it fucking
looks terrible I'm telling you this is
paid back for the buffet comment that's
fine go ahead give it to me it looks bad
it looks what part of it just standing
up and leaving it because I could be
going to the restroom I can be doing
anything but you're not but it'd be
like the girl on the train that we
saw that went to the restroom a lot
she obviously it's something going on
right she we should tell that story
we should are you sure if we yeah
we're deep this is derailed so it could
be patreon stuff yeah this now this
is a teaser this is a teaser for
patreon stuff coming TBD but let me
finish just with the fact that dude it
is so fucking rude well like nice ass
dinners I mean you'll go out somewhere
like our wives are like foodies and
Chicago's a great place for for dinner
and you can go have some really nice
dinners and this asshole just I've
never ruined a dinner just walks out
just up and like no it's always it
there's always a slow spot there's
always there's always a low for you
maybe yeah but everybody else is like
where the fuck is he going and then
yeah you come back smelling like a fucking
ash nobody can smell me I came home
yesterday and my wife said you fucking
stinky smell were you with Josh today
I'm like yeah I don't remember being near
him when he was smoking we smell like
cigarettes that's untrue I'll text it
right now she'll respond I'm like Richard
but I'll bitch if I take oh look that
yeah right dude what what's up oh I
hang loose hang loose dude what's going
on yeah oh anyway here whoo is that
what it said yeah whoo how many how many
owes you're not gonna respond three o's
you responded do you want to tell the
story are we are we gonna go we'll cut
no we'll coast tell the story okay so
know the story but I'm guessing it's
not gonna be something you should have
shared after the fact you don't know
this story I told that I don't know it
but I know but you're about to know it
that's the beauty of telling it some
people would probably find it funny so
we go to the city no this is work you
know I can tell the story pretty well
yeah I'm just questioning the should it
be told well I can tell it I think it
could be I can tell it you know I can
tell it in a way that it should be
delivered and I'm sure your brother
will embellish on it to the point
where it's questionable whether we
should edit it or not it seems good
it seems like a great right there
that's true I'm ready I'm here for it
phenomenal truth that's the beauty
this is you couldn't say anything more
this is just a teaser of what you will
be getting on oil and whiskey uncensored
coming soon
the industry is going to only fans now
I know but we're gonna thing is we're
gonna take it all off if we do it if we
do it I mean I mean like we're gonna
say all the things oh right yeah we're
not gonna censor ourselves got it
can we get a cut if we promote can I
do the blurry thing
yeah yeah absolutely yeah so we go to
the city a few weeks ago for Spencer's
birthday go to dinner we leave the city
and are getting on the train to come
back by the city mean Chicago yeah
Chicago so it's the four of us it is
me and Jeremy and it is our wives
we've had a good night this is the
last excuse me last train out of the
city did you stand up in the middle of
dinner and go have a say he did yeah in
a fucking Michelin star dinner unreal I
did yeah okay didn't ruin the
experience for anybody didn't mean to
didn't really you enjoyed it you were
having a say yeah I'm sorry what's what
about that what about what is it if they
probably thinks you're I don't even
like it's what's going on
on speakerphone no we're sitting here
doing a podcast with Josh Freeman and we
were talking shit and I said I could
text Richard right now and I bet you I
get a text back and then Josh Freeman
said I could text him he's but that's
not fair I was just there a couple weeks
ago so I texted you and then not only
do you not text back you called so the
props props to fucking Richard Rawlings
we're good we're just we just went on
for like 30 minutes giving me I
singing your praise about how much we
respect your tenacity and everything
you've done in the industry so we wanted
to give you a shout all I heard was I
got a new cell phone I didn't know if
the fuck this one I heard yeah I was
just like pocket dial I don't need a new
roof my sightings fine you didn't you
didn't miss anything at all this
played out fucking perfect I hate that
that happened so do I this one said
fuck yeah we can edit that out yeah
Josh is telling me about that good luck
on that I'll give you a shout tomorrow
sure you will all right back that you
guys when you guys put your text all
fucking what was night whatever did
move but yeah it's not a big deal so
your story you're telling a story
tonight tonight has been it's not going
good for me it's not yeah it's been
a night it's not going good for me
tonight anyway we we get on the train
last train of the night headed out
right so our wives are tired and
over served and we unfortunately do a
fair amount of drinking so we don't get
drunk anymore right it's a it's an
unfortunate hazard to this line of
work we can drink a shit ton and very
rarely do we even get tipsy so we're
sitting there we're having a good
time right wives are drunk we're on the
train we notice people we very
observant right very observant right
watchers for people watchers sometimes
we tell stories about those people we've
we've talked about it a lot on this
podcast we're sitting there and there's
a group to the left of us we're in a
booth it's the four of us in a booth
there's a group to the left of us and
there's two guys and a chick and she
gets up goes to the bathroom comes
down sitting there literally like three
minutes later she gets up goes to the
bathroom sits down you see you're going
to the bathroom yeah she gets the first
little girl the first couple of times
it's just like oh she's getting up it's
rare to see anybody really get up and
use the bathroom on the train you
try to avoid doing you try playing
same thing yeah so it happens twice
and it's like oh it's we've got a we've
got about a 50 minute about an hour
ride train from the city so we're
sitting there and happens twice and you
kind of draw notice to it you know sure
draw attention then it happens if they
happen the third time try not to go on
the third time now she's she's gone for
a little bit right so now now the little
bit of storytelling creativity starts
and then it's riffing right and then
what's no ball yeah and then it's like
the oh I mean I just like I don't know
so now there's a couple of things going
on there's a couple stories at hand right
this is a this is a deep yeah well it's
happening it's like there's a there's a
thing like your wives are there and it's
kind of like a like the ones they don't
they don't poop right it's like you know
of course so I've been married for 15
plus years my wife is never yeah right I
don't know what I do with it right
you care during the day something that's
I think something to do with the
dishwasher or something there's something
there but anyway so that this is
happening we can generally get about four
to five minutes going before they are
noticing right because they're carrying
on the conversation well then as we
start getting a little bit more hyped up
and animated then they start drawing
attention to like what sound effects
coming in and stuff and then it's
usually starts with either one of them
saying the same thing of like Freeman
fabrication what the fuck's wrong with
you and it was like oh no it's what's
wrong with her you're like what are you
talking about no they don't know they
haven't picked up on it right because
they're not observant right that's fine
the female females are great at so many
things like picking up on you know
things is sometimes you know some of
them are not that great so she comes
back now it's like oh wow that's a
little bit of a bit of a bit of a
bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of
that's a long time right so now now
they're picking up our wives are like
oh stop right like no you realize she
was gone for a long time she hasn't
you know first time she went to the
bathroom where do you give in the girl
hard time so women can't use the
bathroom like that's the third time
that's not the third time well you
haven't paid attention right because
y'all are chit-chatting about dumb
shit we've been paid that's the
third time that's the third time in
the third time was at least ten
minutes right it's been ten minutes
show it in it literally as we're
having this conversation she's up
again I'm like and now they're like
bubble bubble guys oh stop stop don't
even draw attention to it and now so now
we're going into it right and they were
being compassionate all that poor thing
imagine that like I'm trained oh my
terrible spot terrible situation to be
here to the guy now every time now
this happens it continues right she had
to go on a total of six times but
every time she sits down then the
guys are like both the guys are like
super nice and like compassionate you
know they're actually yeah I mean I can
say the word let alone be it so I know
I can't say it like we're consoling her
when she yeah they were like they were
almost playing it off like nothing that
she would just come back and they go
hey and they just pick up the
conversation he'd like put his arm
you okay they talk and like if that
was I would be talking about what the
fuck is going on the fuck happen
is it like I'll take a second there
like what you know so to bring to
this first full circle Tom Segura style
right so we had a story that she'd been
gone five or six times we were convinced
that before our next stop before we got
off we were convinced that she was
going to come out right with a little
plastic shopping bag and bunny ears right
like a little jewel jewel Oscar for
people around with what you think right
and so what's wrong with leaving it
there well there was a word the good
ones right so we were convinced we're
and I'm so we're sitting there we're
going back and forth we're going fucking
dying because I've got we can see the
same picture before saying anything
as I do when she comes back it's gonna
be like oh like with the little bunny
ears yeah it's like this holding it
I'm crying so a little a little plastic
fucking terrible so so she just had some
bad chicken no she got destroyed that
was that was bad Indian food that would
be bad so anyway it didn't happen
however we were crying laugh and now the
wives are like you know they're halfway
asleep because time it's late and then
also halfway annoyed because we're
laughing like children so that happens
goes away like a week and a half later
he texts me and says he needed
something we were going over there for
something you needed you need me to bring
something for old-fashioned oh hey do you
got any sugar cubes can you bring me
some sugar cubes I need sugar cubes
I was like yeah it's fine I'll bring them
I said this is expensive artisan sugar
I said I'll trade them for a Sammy
Sosa rookie card hmm wow interesting
and yeah so is it ever done before you
think he said you're fucking high
keep your expensive ass sugar I'm not
giving away a Sammy Sosa rookie card
right so anyway I get over there and
but I I ended up caving and offered you
a Ken Griffey June yeah you said I got
I'll give you a king of each year rated
rookie ready rated so I get to his
house and he's got a Sammy Sosa
rookie card and Ken Griffey rookie
card and a Jewel Osco bag with the
bunny here's on round feels ready to
go home yeah we need that Billy
Madison from the spelling bee at no
point in this conversation yeah anything
yeah we're all no no there's a people
that's your call I don't know if this is
just this is 10% of what you'll get on
uncensored for $10 a month on patreon
hey oh 10 you guys discuss that money
or that's 10 bucks a month is I think
anything more than 10 bucks a month
we'd have to like actually yeah from
a subscription base yeah you have to
go under the name Mike Hancho if
you're going for more than that
yeah for sure 10 bucks a month we bear
it all story wise yeah it was Phil shows
you a little bit of crack just a little
you're gonna send pictures your feet
dude I gotta see pictures that feet
before we let them on uncensored because
it might be too off-putting hey there's
a there's a foot for everyone dude can
it wrap around a baseball bat no okay
good then it's normal-sized feet all
right fabrication fabrication we're back
no well I put most of this blame on you
for starting off with what you started
off hey where we go you're right you're
right but I didn't like it open the
door I just I feel like we connected
you know it's like that's this is what
we're gonna do we're gonna take we're
gonna take a bathroom break and then
we're gonna get right back into
fabrication okay that's the way to do
it that's it's a reset little reset
yeah solid you need another garage
beer I'm sure I'm sure of it I do yeah
you're not coming fucking jewel baggy
are you okay yeah but that's like where
the content is sure we'll just dive
right back into it you to get talking
you fucking YouTube stuff that's a good
touch on I think Josh I just break to
have a cigarette a cigarette I use the
bathroom to them and do you know we
fucking knocked on a cigarette that
quick a fucking yeah I'm pro yeah
years the YouTube thing try this as
an amateur I think that's a great topic
you because you I mean you definitely
have like the personality for TV you've
been on TV yeah a fair amount sure and
you're talking about is that an option
is that a good next move is getting
on YouTube and showing like whatever you
want to do if it's just like informative
fabrication stuff or if it's just kind
of following everything you do yeah you
know honestly I love I love doing the
I see you talking about out the cans I
love I it's weird to hear myself it's so
strange anyway um yeah YouTube is a
viable option it's just like I was
telling you a second ago that um I'm the
kind of guy I like to be under the
under the welding helmet or you know
behind the grinder or whatever you know
just actually making stuff and
fabricating it's hard for me to stop
and be like okay put a camera up at
this angle set a camera up over here
is an edited I'm the worst at
going back and you know taking the
time to edit something put a video
together I have to literally have an
accountability me and my buddy we like
Sundays you must post probably not the
best day to post either because sure you
know whatever but you know to get the
most views and stuff and and I think I
just need to post more but um but anyway
I as far as the YouTube thing like you
were saying you need to have someone
that's just kind of their document
that's kind of their job and I'm a
one-man show that's kind of not in
the cards a little bit I think I
would be good at it it's just
taking the time to do it you know I
think I'm good at explaining things
especially when I know what I'm
talking about like with what I'm doing
I'm good at explaining it to the
average person so they are interested
in what what's going on and and
actually seeing how it all comes
together and stuff I think there's a
spot for that I just don't think I'm
very good at doing this hard being
productive doing it like the TV stuff
like you got to set up the camera and
then you're gonna weld this and like
you see a handful of guys do it
really really well in the videos like
you're super engaged yeah just making
that piece seems like it would take
forever but just then setting up the
camera 15 different ways to film
it and then edit it afterwards and I
mean simple things like when we were
overwhelmed when we were on TV we would
take a car and push it out of paint and
over into fabrication or vice versa you
know over to over to paint actually and
first scene would be them outside
watching the door roll up us pushing it
out then stop push it back in get a
good back to the other shops can't have
camera guys in the other shot and so
I mean that's that's why I can't
make any money doing that you know I
mean I need to be working and bill
for those hours yeah that's generate
money off the YouTube side to correct
what good luck doing that like what
students at the woodworking guy we had
on some terror of a terrible memory
Jason from bourbon moth yes that's a
motherfuckers ripped now yeah ripped
but I'm not you want to talk about me
my physique yeah you're in shape dude
that I'm telling you what this dude had
he had a glow up as they say this
dude is a man let's talk about his
wood you see he does an amazing job
that's what that's great that's great
but it's a good example for you because
he we had him on the podcast and it was
pretty cool because he just kind of like
rolls with it you know and he talks
about like how instead of getting like
super into it and trying to like
capture the shot it's very real
because it's it's him and his iPhone
and little editing but I mean he's
got a massive following he does a great
job YouTube he's got a huge following
yeah he does before our podcast he had
nothing so good job that's just a
little bit he was he was big before
this podcast oh yeah just just a
little it's completely unnecessary I
mean that's great that's great but
totally off-topic well if you look if
you go back to the episode that he was
on and you see him doesn't relate it
all to what we're talking about we're
talking about his him doing YouTube the
way that he films I brought a little
extra to it yeah that's fine but that's
that's the beauty of it's very much
I like him I like him a lot he's a
really cool guy I love watching his
video I've probably not missed an
episode that he's done okay point being
it's it's relatable to what you're
doing right I guess he's he's just a
dude and he's building really cool
stuff and he makes relatable videos in
the YouTube demonstrates that and his
whole thing was like yeah instead of
having like he doesn't have a film crew
it's him he goes out in the garage and
he's videoing it yeah he's got he's got
a team he's got he's got a guy I will
give you a secret I'm ready for here's
a little secret I'm gonna shut the
fuck up and no you just how about
you just taught how's that you tell
the story you brought a great today
today you brought a great I get my
camera tidbit I think he's he's an
amazing it's a it's an awesome segue
into yes that's a guy that can actually
build stuff and do it the problem and he
talked about a little bit now most of
the stuff he's doing is stuff for for
himself now right because he's now he's
became a YouTube content creator he's
an influencer right so he's so now the
projects that you're doing is for the
camera for the camera and a lot of
stuff for himself he's doing a big
remodel at his house he's doing an
outside thing he's done some stuff for
his kids it's like that so the time that
it takes to do your own project when
you're doing it for YouTube it's a
little different than documenting stuff
you're doing for a customer because like
you were saying Phil it's hard to charge
when you're sitting there setting up
camera getting the right angles the
thing that I was gonna go with now the
segue from where you the after you
don't mean wrong no the great piece
of content that you brought right the
thumbs up it gold star gold star
work work he's a now Scott Scott's
rides right the Camaro that we have here
in the shop right that's that's the
unveil TBD right still new fresh hasn't
been unveiled to the public yet of the
why it's here he's he's got a really
good bucks I won't post it he's got a
really good following as well on
Instagram and doing starting to get
into YouTube this is he's a one-man
show he has nobody else doing it he's
capturing the stuff now with
metaglasses hmm so he's putting the
metaglasses on and doing the stuff right
so it's a lot different in your POV is
gonna be a lot easier right instead of
doing so that there's an option there
with doing the fabrication that you
would just normally do and not set up for
cuts and not serve just do the job
you've used over just catch it do the
project then come back and edit what
you're doing and then do like you
said the voiceover thing there's something
there you see how that worked yeah it was
long it was a long-winded way you said
metaglass I'm glad that you're picking up
on that too yeah I gave a shout out I
thought that was something that you
would appreciate hmm okay right yeah
anyway YouTube should do it I serious
I think I think it would be yeah I like
I said I think I I need to my everyone
tells me I need to you know what I it's
now that I'm here I get it now I've
watched like I said I've watched a few
episodes listen to a lot of women I get
it now yeah he's not this is not super
like you see you guys right actually
deal with each other at all you guys
hate each other I'm figuring out it's
a fucking deal I'm sorry I'm sitting
right in the corner I realized cheese
might be fine but dude the most
hurtful thing you've said to me so
far out of all three seasons three
hundred episodes with the buffet thing
it's wild it's a lot things I'm gonna
actually I'm gonna probably go home and
talk to my wife about that do you have
like help.com or whatever it is right
I don't but it's gonna probably talk
through that one the reason and the
reason the reason it resonates
somebody is because I know you so well
I know how many buffets that you've
done that exact thing that's why it
hits home it's really the simple truth
yeah I mean to shade it was well well
played it was a figure no hurt but it's
done liked it I didn't I didn't at the
same time and I appreciated it yes I
appreciate your creativity on it and
I'm actually a little jealous that I
didn't come up with that all right so
bringing it bringing it we've done
enough with Jason bring it full circle
you are at gas monkey what no right
now no I know well make sure you're
aware I'm yeah I'm getting it I'm
getting it all wrangled back in so you're
at gas monkeys you do the thing at what
point is it going through your head of
like I maybe want to I maybe could
like it's gonna be I think I can do
my own thing so like I said I was
doing my own thing when I got the
call from Aaron right and then there's
there was no way I had the means being
jobless to start up my shop again back
in even though I had all the tools just
it didn't seem like something I could
just you know at the drop of a hat rent
to shop again and start up I needed to
get a job and get going and get to know
people get a client you know get
some clients stuff in and you know
left them all behind back in Southern
California you know what 20 plus years
of being there so I had no client list
when I was here so or in Texas but
so yeah man I mean I just worked out I
was at gas monkey for three and a half
years and and eventually the show ended
so I mean I don't know which question
was I forgot so I was just thinking
about I was just thinking about actually
at all coming to an end in yes show the
show's coming to an end yeah you're
gonna go back to doing your own shop
but now you're in Texas correct I got
it's somewhat starting over again yeah
and there was that was a big thing so
I started once by moving here great
there was a start yes start this is
what you do right yeah I got you just
don't don't fucking dude I don't it
right you to stuff like a wall I'll
leave it alone yeah dude yes he's he's
wounded now don't fuck with that don't
fuck with that little coyote you find
in the woods you got his foot caught in
a trap wings like a flash out so starting
over coming to Texas right so now
now the job that the TV shows ended
right the it's no longer fast and loud
the discussion was do we move back to
California do we stay here we had a
really great schools for the kids in
Texas was awesome so I mean we decided
to stay and take another chance and in
start frame fabrication again I did
have some some you know I knew a guy
from gas monkey I started making some
contacts there and stuff so when I when
I left and started man I had a couple
people that brought their stuff to me
right away and that kind of got the
ball rolling and then getting out there
a little bit of traction from gas monkey
and being on it for three and a half
years helped obviously that's why I did
it in the first place it wasn't as much
of a help as I thought it was going to
be to be honest with you I think it
was weird to I worked there for like
almost two years before an episode even
aired so we had a bunch in the bank and
so by the time like they were I was
already gone and they were still
airing you know what I mean like I
was already the show was already done and
they were still showing the episode so
that was good and bad you know I mean
it kind of prolonged it so then it
actually kind of took longer and I had
a job at the time so it didn't matter
they weren't airing you know what I
mean so it's actually kind of working
out and so frame and fabrication
started rolling and it ended up you
know really being good here the scene
is actually pretty here but in in
Texas is really good there's a lot
of people that are sure hot rodders
you know you don't see them like
you do in Southern California driving
everywhere on the streets all the
time but if you go to a cars and
coffee or if you go to any local
shows man there's some really nice
cars and as you you know start to
really get into it there's a ton of
builders there's a ton of people that
are in Texas it's a great spot some
people with money which is obviously
you know unfortunately not
unfortunate but it's weird to say
it's what you're looking for what you're
looking for to build a nice car you
want someone that has money and
someone that's willing to to take
that risk and you know build a car
with you so um you can drive me
around on like up here we got three
months out of the year to use them
yeah that is that is a you know
what there's a ton of cars up here
though like when I grew up in
Wisconsin I mean Iola and stuff I mean
people are building all winter for
summer you know I mean so that's
that's another aspect it's another
thing it's a good time to build
which is cool where you're never
missing out on the the cruising days
because you're in winter project
winter project yeah so I mean Texas
there's people with money and so we
we doubled down because the kids
were already locked in in their
schools and and yeah man I mean it's
kind of just worked out I've met
some people and build a bunch of
stuff for Toyota did it put put
pizza ovens in the back of a brand
new Lexus you know whatever some SUV
thing it's like a hundred and eighty
thousand dollars I've done the owner
of Toyotas limo I've swapped body
swapped it like did a did just up
the year you know from a 15 to a
2024
Akio Toyota has a place in our
guile like with a big track like a
private track and stuff and so he
has an eight bullet proof and bomb
proof limo that I've done for him
just from you know friends that I
know that have in the scene you
know just people you start getting
getting to know people and so it
were here you know me we're there in
Texas and it works out so I'm
honestly were one man show I just do
what I do and that comes back to the
to the YouTube and being a one man
show it's kind of hard to do all that
stuff you know I mean I was so blown
away coming here and seeing you all
and what's going on I can't like I
told Josh I can't fathom how it's
even happened and like you said it
just happens soon as you don't have
the people to do what you need to
get done and you're doing it all
you hire someone to do it and you
hire someone to do more and then you
hire more people to do that and this
and it eventually just grows and that
is mind blowing to me is the the
the machine that you all have going
on here it's it's so impressive to
know that all of those chassis I saw
today are all accounted for already and
there's still more right behind it
and there's all the there's all the
control arms and there's all I mean
it's it's it's wild I mean I truly
think I mean I follow you on
Instagram stuff and you guys the
fabrication shop was so impressive to
me it's a it's a beautiful setup in
the cars that are in there I know you
can't show some of them because clients
don't want you to show them or like you
were talking with with who you're
dealing with and what you got going on
but but I mean y'all need to show that
more because that's interesting as
hell like the your boys over there
there's some really talented guys I
mean it's it's really cool to see and
so there's there's some there's some
love and hate there for me on that you
see you start seeing people doing that
stuff and it's like man you get down
on yourself sometimes you know you get
that FOMO like I know what's going
on like other people are crushing and
I'm just this guy and you know one
man you know one-man show so then embrace
that though you should break because that
means you still care yeah there's we talk
about Troy all the time if you see
somebody doing something so amazing yeah
and it doesn't make you want to do
better that means you don't care about
the thing correct you just appreciate
what he's doing but you don't really care
about flip that mindset perspective
you've got you've got an ego problem
if you can't recognize what yeah is
like be happy for them well yeah be
happy but you should always work like
I geek out on like there's some really
cool like metal shaping guys out there
and fabricated I just like I mean I just
love watching this the skills and like
try to you know I've learned enough
over the years that it like it resonates
with me and I see it you can just learn
from the pictures but you've got to
always recognize like I'm not saying that
we are but who's doing it better than
you there's always somebody there's
always somebody doing it better which
off of it as you know to me like it's
like honestly some of the best advice
out there as soon as you think like
you've just fucking got it figured out
always somebody better yeah search
metal better search metal on on
Instagram and see how good you are
you know real quick I mean there's some
metal shape and shit that shows up
that I'm like oh my god yeah the
dude the chick that's building that
many truck that's out dude or stout
stout stout 64 stout isn't wild I
don't know that one I don't think yeah
you're the one that brought to the
table and sandals doing it and sandals
that one I yeah beat it in the room
and she's got a shop now I don't I
don't find her it was coming up a lot
in my feet I don't follow it now she's
got a she's got a shot with now she's
got a concrete floor like an actual
shop so can you pull the roof skin
and stuff like that all of the seed
brackets you see the seed brackets I
haven't seen so low right early she was
doing floor paint there's hydraulic
floor pans and stuff and the floors
were like sick I mean like deep draw
yeah stuff right yeah no different
one yeah talented that's it yeah these
control arms yeah but I'm sorry I'm not
I mean hey but at the stock control arm
smoothed out I don't I don't they're cool
there's a lot of work in them they're
beautiful dude don't gotta do what you
got to do with what you got no no no
this person that she can make whatever
yes like they're I'm sorry pull it
I mean hey no it's just impressive we
can if we go to the go to the the
seed brackets or it was really
impressive to me she's got small spring
cups or something what is that yeah I
haven't seen these yet she's running
hydraulics but the way hey have you
seen to the way that like she'll just
make like the inner structure for the
thing nothing's mocked up there's no
door shutting on it but she's making the
inner structure for the roof and I'm
like where's she from I don't know I
don't I did you said she's from
Australia this is Queensland right
oh yeah Queensland yeah I haven't seen
that one with the fender on it
well it's like an Australian dog go
back this is it's a cat dude oh I did see
this actually yeah that popped up it's a
good move it's a great move metal
finishing it and yes there's a there's
one with the seat brackets if you can
scroll down to the seat brackets are
really impressive for me I liked the
way I like this that's not really a
style control arm oh you're right it
looks like that's cool she grassy
she she grabbed the location and then
she made the rest of it it's just a
nice stock it didn't that's cool that's
the furthest thing from a stock control
arm to see that that concept how she
approached it is it is interesting
right and that's the whole point of all
that is like well I wouldn't have gone
there to go on tubular yeah instantly
you know I mean or even even flat plate
you know yeah so you look at something
like this the seat bracket thing that
stuck with you yeah you're gonna find
something off right that you're gonna
then he's gonna be your build a
hundred percent yeah there's a
yeah see what I mean like it's weird how
how she's going about doing it but it
turns out it comes together
see where you got a little 3D
actually going on there too getting
close on those seat brackets no a little
further that's better be the most
amazing see you know what dude it's
gonna suck right there they are no left
yeah that like that one see them see
them they're they're not impressive but
they're deeply but if you see them they're
they're double-sided like they're she's
she's popped them out to make them look
almost factory like and then they come
together in the way they see how they
sit on the back the back firewall and
stuff good good fabricator yeah it's
impressive there's just everything she
shows us right there yeah pull up that
video her wheel and that seat panel
everything flows so nicely I just I love
it I love everything about is whatever
is in that bottle what makes Australian
sheet metal look that bright that's
Australian right silver that's all see
she metal bright there is something
about it it's am I right you can tell
all see sheet metal which I'm
surprised I didn't pick up on this is
there no humidity there what I don't
know what it's just the way they
finish their metal I think they I
think the key is you guys feels right
she's and what is that stuff it's a
little bit of Vegemite in us in a
Scotch right here you put a little bit
of Vegemite but anyway there they're
whatever but how she made him was cool
and how they go in is super cool I
thought it was nice hit that video her
wheel in that seat pan
she did the I'll find it in a second
where she does the roof skin mm-hmm
and it's bead rolled in like the just
some good tools the pattern that you
would do a panel paint roof but it's done
in step yeah it's cool little rider
panel paint it's pretty cool
we gotta have her on the podcast yeah
I want to know there's so much I want to
know so many questions I gotta let's
burn that roof skin I just think it's
you can barely see it there Jeremy
like you're saying though the point
is is that she's doing it you know I
mean like there's there's somebody out
there she's filming it she's doing it
like and it's it's very impressive her
her skill set I mean it's unbelievable
what she's doing and it's to a weird
scout stout or whatever it is I don't
even know what it is yeah nor do I care
I just work I've been watching what she
does for her her technique step it
even back from the fact that she's
documenting it the fact that because
it's being done the fact that it's
actually progressing through sure because
you've seen so many especially from the
mini truck you've seen so many guys
have done no I came from I came from
that it's not a shot okay it's not a
shot I came from I guess important
mini truck stuff I know that if the
fabrication or the like a project gets
started it's like this can be the
baddest-ass four-link never the four
link gets you know mocked up and it's
some awesome sheet metal you still
got to build the rest of the truck
right right front is gonna be done the
fact that she's progressing through I
mean she's going through you know when
she'll wipe her motor she's going
through cows she's building this entire
thing front to back and it's progressing
that in and of itself of just being at
the dedication of going we talk about
you know going to the gym we talk about
yeah you know going to work come just
repetition and sticking with it it's
one thing be like I'm gonna do it for
seven days straight okay I'm gonna do
it for 30 days straight you know for a
year like we were saying for two years
it was just the metal fabricator person
it's notes the person building the
stout like that's what she's building
we we both knew about it yeah just from
neither of us follower but yet it popped
up in her feet because that's what we're
we both knew what we're talking about it's
kind of cool that she's doing like you're
saying going through the entire thing
oil and whiskey followers are we're one
of the 265,000 people that follower
yeah all right guys she it's she it's
amazing though the fact of just
tenacity and staying with it right
that's what I'm saying we all know
about all know of it she's impressive
hmm that one got me off off topic
there some no it's fine you're going
deep so you on the on the start in the
shop right so you had the discussion
you're gonna stay in Texas you like the
the schools yeah it's difficult to
coming from I mean I move my my family
up here and my wife grew up in the same
town you know live next to her parents
and it's same place you never never
left right you can't be like oh we're
doing this is the greatest opportunity
and then after like three years but all
right guess what if that was fun let's go
back you know that's a difficult
conversation you kind of like all right
now what's the next phase right we've
done this what's the next phase so you
get some people you get some you know
at least enough jobs to like all right
we got we can start this thing what do
you say your niche is now as what's
your social media like you do some
amazing shit but broad like you know
it is weird like a ladders on you know
overlanders and I was a flatbed stuff it
but it's cool shit it's not it's not like
you just you're not just welled in a
broken bumper you're building cool shit
well that that one actually landed my
lap from a friend that just started a
shop and you know doesn't have a
fabricator yet and and so yeah there it
is so that actually I just saw that now
just got the finished product from
that of it being the whole truck was
like textured you know it's an off-road
vehicle the guy's a professional hunter
and so he's literally gonna have Bobcat
and Fox he said packed up in that little
you know that little crate in the back
there on that little toe behind thing
and then the ladder was just the thing
I did just to keep ground clearance and
he wanted a fixed ladder he said he
takes guys hunting there's all infrared
he's got a heads-up display that goes
in one corner he's got a varmint
call in the other corner and there's
like these chairs that sit in there
that are like a like a tripod you
set your you set your gun on it it
fully swivels all around so there's two
chairs on the top that you you perch up
there and and all the lights like a
bass boat correct exactly like a
bass boat so he sits up there and there's
red lights all around it like big light
bars but the red and so everything is
infrared you know everything is night
vision kind of set up so he goes hunting
at night with it and he doesn't he
does hunting competition so that came to
me from another shop and you know I
do a lot of stuff for other shops
actually that that maybe don't have a
you know a fabrication side to things
and and so there it was this one's
obviously hit hard with Josh just because
it's an H2 and it involves guns so this
is sure he noticed that one are you
respraying that in yellow will that
ultimately be yellow that's and I'm
chopping the top off it's gonna be a
convertible okay yeah yeah that's is
that for you Josh do what you haven't
you haven't this built you see the
platform right I apologize I was
I'm commenting on his comments to people
uh like that's cool yeah so I mean random
things show up yeah so like you say I do
all sorts of there's a there's a d100 in
the back there I just put a 51 hemi in
it that's been all completely remachined
and everything and just four linked it
took the stock chassis did a universal
four link on it a Mustang to front it's
like I'm I am not super niche where
niche where it's just sheet metal
fabrication which is my favorite thing
to do I really like that the most but
um you know if it pays the bills and I
enjoy doing it I'll say yes to it and do
it you know you prefer more full build
start to finish you like just doing the
core fabrication some cool components
what's your that's a I really enjoy
so that I here's where my ADD comes in
and and I like a quick in and out every
once in a while like this was a couple
weeks you know I mean turn and burn
turn and burn feels good it's nice
you did it quick I appreciate that too
because we were on a timeline I was
trying to get that thing wrapped up
yeah you know what you got a big
you got a big hunt coming so yeah but
but yeah man like I thought it I like
the turn and burn stuff but at the same
time I like a full build I like to have
my name on things unfortunately it
seems like a lot of mine don't get done
all the time you know what I mean like
you get the like the little lice the
little gas pocket right pocket right
there that's a build it a few years
ago it's a it's a C10 it's on a
roadster shop chassis it's it's got
everything that's cool in it it's
got a it's got a supercharged 383 fully
built struck like 700 horsepower 383
which is wild everything's aluminum so
all the all the like paneling instead of
being woods going to be brushed aluminum
the front the front bumper will be
brushed the wheels are brushed like the
the roll cage inside is brushed so
that's just a you know normal C10
build that one right there I did for
for a buddy that brings me a lot of
his cars and stuff and I did just
many tubs and not many tubs but I
did tubs in a and a that's on a
roadster shop as well and did you know
a doghouse is as we call him for the
back you know over the over the step
notch like the wheels on it I would
have I wouldn't have thought to use
I'm gonna pull a Josh like a Tony
Hinchcliffe type comment I would have
thought to use them but they look
fucking those are fucking ugly wheels
but they look cool on that show I'm
not saying there are they just so it
trucks been around that's it's been
around for the last few months
whatever a bunch of shows it's a
pro touring Texas right yes Eric yes
great one who brought me that great
folks down there they bought a good
bit of chassis from yes everything that
I get from them I have a actually have
a a Nova right now on a on a chassis
that's right yeah from them I have
done a done that on a chassis for a
bunch of cars a Chevelle forum on a
chassis so there's a bunch of things
I've done for him and that truck right
there when you're talking about the
wheels the first thing I said is you
get the center caps in it or what
and I guess I guess the center caps
are actually black they're in it
but okay that's like you say the
wheels that's the first thing I
noticed who was like where's the
center cap at but it's a race car
you pull the center caps out it's a
super cool overpressure pop center
caps out the customer super cool too
like he's he's a he's a military
guys it's a it's a really cool as a
vet it's a really cool cool build a
cool truck the way it turned out the
way they did the bed and patina did
all and stuff it's a it's a cool
build I'm like I said I'm always
still to be a part of it because a
lot of times my trucks don't get
there I'll build something they
end up sitting in the garage like
the the previous C10
everybody Matt built that truck and
it's super cool but he's got a lot
going on and he's got a he's
got a supercharged chivelle or maybe
in turbo no supercharged chivelle with
the carbon hood the carbon deck that
all the cool guy stuff you know it's
on bags and stuff he's got a an old
charger and stuff so I mean he's got
a lot of other things going on so
the C10 didn't get done you know just
yet it'll get there it's it's 90
percent done patina truck it's
cool he switched he switched the
front end to like the I guess it'd
be a 62 the big hog nose like the
big pig nose like 60 60 so he switched
I know it's not a little better hated
right 100% but I think he wanted to be
different he went yeah it was evoed and
had him all billet machine he's on all
the all the everything's billet dude the
old oil oil tank that's actually on my
Instagram the old oil bath style
air cleaner is a is actually just a
big billet big old machine big old
machine part steering wheel the wheels
the that the hog nose part the he's
had a bunch done if it's kind of it's a
ways back on Freeman but you know about
the the the wheels back to the wheels
you're talking about on the on the C10
some you're 100% right right there's
the C10 the left one yeah you can see
the cage I built in there if you look
to the rest of my air seal the bottom
right it took another cab and cut the
headliner out of like a steel steel
headliner out and covered up the rest
of my box so it looks like it's kind of
like a factory it's not looks good
important I cage looks good cage
looks nice yeah it's obviously not
gonna function a hundred percent with
that bend right there but it's a it's a
bolt-in cage and it's just a it's a
better than nothing aesthetics right and
if you go if you see to see how I put
the the vents in in the dash I kind of
tried to make them look factory and
patina if you go back a couple posts
maybe they might I might be able to see
it come down a little bit right
there one of those maybe there's a
better one of the of the actual
side vents the side vents turned out
pretty cool I guess maybe that was maybe
that was one of them I'm sorry but anyway
others under the hood so nothing fancy
he wanted no bead rolls no extras just
real simple clean because the bed was
gonna be all aluminum and and turn out
just kind of real simple clean he
wanted nothing nothing over the top
and and I mean the truck turned out
really cool so one day it'll get done
and it'll be a it'll be a really
cool build but that's kind of where
it's cool doing stuff for pro touring
because they really get it done they
take the car switch it over like a
lot of stuff a lot of through a lot of
stuff they are and they they do a lot
of really nice like survivors as you
call me I mean put in the put in the
you know patina car on a on a full
chassis and just making them run like
he has a he has a post where there's a
10 speed in there and it's just 8 speed
or 10 speed man it just sounds so good
so I mean it's cool to see that stuff
but I enjoyed this part of it this
was a long time ago actually this is
at my my initial shop in Denton I'm
over McKinney now but if you can
gotta see the one where I did the
side I wish you know we should have
maybe dude this is your social media so
like you tell me where it's at I keep
going sideways yeah keep going there's
one where I did keep going there well
well there's Richard yeah there's me
and Richard I went and did a little
thing so there's a there's a car I did
actually if you go down see the
suicide doors that's a brand new
Cadillac escalate V I did suicide
doors on is that's what she is for
big old centered auto lock hinge you
know it's a um what's the name of the
company I forget right now but uh that
was actually for Patrick Mahomes that's
his wife's car Oh P. Holmes P. Holmes
he's a Texas guy it's a pad I say what's
up yeah right you've never met him
no never met him nor will I but you
don't even know what he plays sports
probably he does soccer right
America American soccer where I was
going to go with on the brown on the
brown C-10 those wheel that wheel
choice 100% out of the norm there's
something about especially on on C-10s
and square bodies and you're doing a
air quotes pro touring build you know
you do something in handle there's I
I tried generally gravitate towards a
little bit more traditional you know
inspired but there's something about a
patina truck that can back it there's
a little bit of like just putting it
out there but like well you know fuck
around find out like I'm not trying to
hide like it's obvious that I'm not
afraid to like use this thing it's a
little different than like a fully
polished you know done pro touring
truck with bumpers tucked in nice
paint so I think you're like all right
well it should do it but like are you
going to then you find that and
you're like oh it looks like he's not
afraid to right it's it's got a
little bit a little toughness that's
also goes right in line with usability
you can jump in that thing take to the
grocery store if you want you don't I
mean yes the you have a $40,000 motor and
it you know a $40,000 chassis from from
Roadster shop or whatever and you know
$8,000 wheels but if you get a door
ding it's not the end of the world you
know I mean a little bit you know I
mean you can run it you did a great
job on this I'm gonna ask you was
did did Patrick have a have trouble
getting the backseat with the regular
operating doors I'm not quite sure
what's going on that never met him
never actually I think it's his
wife's the colors are of her her
soccer team that she has she has a
she owns a not an American soccer team
maybe it is an American I don't know
anyway a ball like a round a round ball
soccer team the black and white yeah
football yeah right it's soccer there's
soccer and there's football yeah well
that's it but yeah I know but you're on
this side of the pond right so in
America it's football and soccer that's
happening with me right now yeah I'm
still hung up on the fact you didn't
see my vents I it's so weird I'm you
got to tell me where they are where
they are I but I hey if you don't know
once again okay go down there's my 49
did that was on a road shop chassis you
guys built we're looking for vince right
yes we're looking for vince you know I
mean that was a plug you shot yeah
well he's told me to look for that I was
joking fuck it go to we need to do a
legend yeah go to that one
damn it that's not it go to the other
one all I can hear I already watched
this one four times right fuck it's
not that one either what about this I
don't know dude let's find that's
let's find these are vince I like those
vince I have them from my truck that's
not it nice son of ocean hey thanks man
appreciate that that's that YouTube in me
go go up to you're like a YouTube err
here flaming you don't want to get on
there and all right never mind guys you
know what there's my Instagram I have
more followers on my how about this
but yeah the first person to DM us a
picture of the side vince from your
social media gets a t-shirt here's what
I'll tell you a free t-shirt that sucks on
you that's up to you if you want I know
I'm going to appreciate it but good
looking out man appreciate there but
somebody's got somebody's got to find it
I believe it I just fucking I don't
know right there look at the 49 right
there that's on a road to shop chassis
and that truck turned out because I was
looking at those harems it's a one
off chassis yeah you guys did I guess
scan the bottom of the truck this is
for this is for my core right that's the
one for Michael yes that's a customer
from my court but I'm gonna tell you
something you guys left the motor in
the stock location yeah ish and I'd like
to talk to you about this okay talk
about it yeah go ahead I had the
fucking hell of a time excuse me
language putting a radiator and in a
fan it and an intercooler and a
heat exchanger whatever you want to
call it and a condenser in the
front so I ended up having to take I
got a wizard wizard cooling and moved
the the cooler off to the side remote
in front of the right front wheel
through ducting from the I ended up
getting a splitter on there I extended
the whole front end and and did a bunch
of stuff to get all that to come
together but could not find a radiator
condenser even a custom built one
that would fit in that narrow nose
because the motor was so far forward
where there's like a ton of room to
go back with it and this guy was
super adamant because he had a
roadster shop chassis this is a
testament to how much he loved your
chassis did not want me to cut it at
all but what I did do I did cut one
thing and if he's listening I'm sorry
and I didn't tell him actually this is
true I didn't tell him I you guys
even made a floor mount booster yeah I
got rid of that I did I did that and
put it under the dash sideways with
the one of those 90 degree you know
style yeah you could go back with
that but then you get it you get
into the floor box right so you sure
get a little while I think you need
to dress on these 35 40s because it's
it's so tight if you move it back
then guys are pissed off you had to
recess the firewall and you've got no
there was no fire I mean I did made a
fire wall obviously but but I mean
you're right there was a given to
then here's my here's my here's my
ls a defense in your defense
absolutely if you go if you go to the
if you go to the shoe store and buy
and buy a set of 10s and you know
you're a 12 and you try to shove it
in there you're right like you're
absolutely it's a if the you got a
you got a big shoe right you got a
big foot you got a big foot but
I guarantee you all we're building
it all we're building it I don't
probably move the motor back a little
bit and then yeah that's not about
making motor mounts for them and
stuff and trying but we were
to do it's always like Phil said
it's a 50-50 deal you've got 50% of the
guys are like yes that this thing I'm
not recessed in my name firewall and
and then the other guys are like
dude shove it back thing back I don't
care if it's in the back on an eight
inch thick core I want to put an
intercooler in the front of it and
once again I'm my dog and I'm just
saying you know it's a good point
to bring up to get it every once in
a while and it's something that you
don't know how to you can't standardize
it one way or the other because you're
wrong half could you imagine like yeah
if you had motor motor placement is so
much like a wheel entire fitment
specifically in the back because
you're like oh man you gave me like a
54 and a half inch rear end I got a
mini tub it right yeah but you get
like a fat lip and it looks good
right then you give a guy a 60 inch
rear end you're like dude I can't
get any fucking lip on this thing I'm
like yeah but you didn't have to
mini tub it you know yeah but I
want like wide-ass tires so like
there's this unfortunately in y'all's
defense really building fucking cars
yeah that that's part of the game
that the cab is so small I mean I can
I can touch the the passenger door
with my arm like this like it's such a
small cab that yeah man it is
it is six one-way half and doesn't
just yet you also know about one of
the international international 49
international picked about one of the
worst motors for it to wait for a
second right the throttle body
there throttle body and like the
standoff see how far the power
steering everything's like pushed
off yeah that throttle body I had to
I had to be super crafty about that
thing or the you know the intake
coming and turning really hard and
getting into the fender because I
like I said I ducted the airbox
into the off the splitter in the
front on one side made an airbox
behind the headlight and then the
other side was the was the cooler
it's a great it's a great point
to bring up because we've talked
about before it's it always rears
it's had the worst on Mopar guys
because it's always on uh like a
challenger and the guys wanting it like
three-inch rocker ride height and he
wants to run a hellcat you're talking
about motor height just motor mobile
physics and and motor placement right
and it's like man this you guys
place this motor like all the way
through the hood it's like well have
you sit the motor sit set the motor
on the ground next to the car
yeah just sit you sit it on the on
the oil pan next to the car tell me
where it's supposed to go the earth
place the most yeah it's yeah and
those are tough cars too because the
wiper motors on those are like that's
the like that's the stand that's the
constant you can't fuck with a wiper
motor on Mopar there's no other places
there is there's no other options like
then a factory ass wiper motor i mean
unless you want to go to great
lengths or just did you want to
engineer it or ditch it it is one
wiper motor and one wiper motor
switch like and they're like wired
bass ackwards and really it's a cluster
fuck i've worked on a lot of them
yeah that's that's the thing with like
you know kudos challengers chargers
the spring gear dudes need to get
after that like a better making a new
yeah it's weird it's weird that it's
i think it's a more difficult problem
than what we probably are giving it
for the location and the way it
interacts with the cowl it's not like a
quick oh yeah we'll flip it we'll throw
it in here it's always like a yeah
probably don't want to screw with that
i have to check it out
well yeah it's brought us to the time
of standard questions oh no standard
questions brought to you by h.r.e
wheels
um
we like to we've found as of late
uh we've had guests come here
prepared unfortunately and i don't like
that i like to keep them guessing
um i'm not gonna lie prepared some some
of those might be standard uh get one
last one in yeah for sure after it
just down yeah fire yeah let's let's
finish it finish it out a little bit
so much guys thanks for having me man
now that i've got my standard questions i can
i can feel it ease the uh the answer
yeah yeah you never know what you're
gonna get out of this shot this one
well i do think that it's interesting
well we're gonna go we're gonna go to
car first heavy pour it all good
because you two specifically i think
what part of wisconsin did you get
your license in it in manascha it's
called the fox cities uh just south of
green bay north of oshkosh right by
the i know it okay it's good so i
that's why i know the car that's why
i went this way way you know the car
90 96 graduated 96 he graduated in 96
and i wanted to go car first because you
there's sometimes i have a little bit of
insight this one's going to be a unique
to you guys i feel with as many uh as
much as you you got some weird shit in
the midwest though there's not a lot of
i wouldn't call it a lot of trends
there's not it's just transportation
just things you did a lot of things
rotted to shit so you didn't have
you ever have a snowmobile
yes i actually had a great snowmobile
story want to hear it real quick i would
love to hear a snowmobile story i'm
learning so much about snowmobiles you
guys heard about uh have you ever heard
of um duck lake is that uh the duck
in uh forget the name of the lake uh
rat river okay so anyway there's a place
we've heard about the duck that's where
the duck is this big stadium seating
like restaurant that looks over the
in that the viper chairs guys talked
about the duck in i do not remember
i thought they did they're from
wisconsin as well so anyway my dad
has a uh old beat-up snowmobile but it's
like a dare i say a 700 it's like a 400
river it is but it's some crazy fast
snowmobile so we've always done it you
know i'd be on the back with my dad you
know be doing the rat river it's
literally a frozen over river with
reed sticking out and stuff and you're
kind of drifting around the corners and
hitting the snow banks and coming
through well one year my mom and dad
dropped me and my brother off and
they went ahead to the duck in drove
me and my brother we're just going to
run the rat river by ourselves and
him him on his snowmobile and
my dad's well we're cruising through
i'm getting overly confident i'm doing
really well i'm i'm naturally decent at
riding bikes and you know what i mean
riding dirt i've always rode
sure god three-wheelers and stuff back
in the day tv's and stuff and so um
i'm getting decent at i'm i'm can kind
of handle i've gotten old enough to
kind of handle it you know i'm not
three-wheelers in your life so you're
pretty fucking good i ran over my
own leg 400 times but but still so
anyway we get to the we get to the
duck in in the open lake and there's
a they plow a spot where the the
planes can land towards the the the
duck in so there's a snow bank on each
side of it
when my dumbass gets the idea to jump
that shit i'm gonna fucking jump the
runway dude and i will jump the whole
runway i'm gonna jump the whole
runway i'm gonna jump the sideways
from bank to bank i just fucking i just
hit it dude i cased the other side
i'm fucking i cased the other side
just fucking this snowmobile you
know i don't know if you remember
the fiberglass it opens up and
they don't roll good no i don't
know dude but i thought i'd go for
stupid enough stupid enough to go
not really hey all the wings were wide
the wings were wide it was too wide
it was it was about yes six feet
short six feet wider than i thought it
was
but anyway i fucking cased this bitch
and just wad up the snowmobile
and my dad and my mom are in there and
then like i said this duck in is this
this restaurant that stadium now hold
on here
let me start off i stand back up by
saying this is how i remember it right
so i'm telling the story after a
couple weeks but this is fucking
what happened but anyway
so i jumped this thing wad up my snow
with my dad said the fucking place
went wild dude they're like my house
whoa what and then he realized oh
shit that's my son that's my snowmobile
so i wad up a snowmobile that day
and and had to pay for it pretty
fucking i think i had to do some
fiberglass work or yeah that's what
i got my ass be let's be right i
got my ass whooped but but anyway
yeah man that was a good snowmobile
story so yes i i know snowmobile
okay
um you got something
i'm trying to look it up to see i know
what the car is but i'm having a hard
time oh
i'm going to make model i'm going super
bratt no no i'm going bratt
there's nobody in the history of the
world that owned a brat can i can help
own one i won't give a crazy no don't
have okay you can help you can help i've
already made my guess you can give
some pointers my dad was a race car
driver it's a car truck my my um it's
a car truck
shit how can i give you a clue
without telling me don't give us a
clue all right let the just go but you've
yes this is a question he's so far off
the fucking off the mark i know he's way
off fucking has a super way off uh it
was a wild card yeah purchased car or
hand me down uh first car so hold on
second i've got let me just say there's
a clue i've got i got a vehicle for
graduation but i was not 15 yet it's
going to be my graduation gift 500 bucks
would you graduate at 15 no it was
going to be he got it early i got it
early sorry if i didn't make the sense
there but um i fixed that up i'll say
that i fixed those up to sell to buy the
first truck that i drove to high school
so it was a truck that's he threw that
away sorry i told you the car it's a
midwest we know it's a truck it's just
a matter of what truck it is that was
loose lips i apologize i'll say the
first thing that came to mind with me
is the old body style dakota like the
s10 body square one dakota yeah square
dakota i had one of those that's a rare
that's a rare unit the convertible one
well yeah that i saw one the other day
that's not the convertible it's sick
you had to have you had to be a connoisseur
to have a convertible shelby square body
dakota we had a shit ton of marlboro
points yeah marlboro miles
square body dakota i could be i could
be off because there weren't a lot of
them in the midwest but something
tells me
yeah it's just you know what i know
this is well phil let's always go on
first uh late 80s early 90s buick
celebrity
holy shit it was truck no this is
before he got the truck oh phil there's
something there that uh that fucking
that that blew my mind getting goosebumps
actually phil you you you uh
hold on phil this is fucking odd and i
think you're creeping on me somehow
one way or another you've done some
research every episode somebody
somebody gets it this is fucked up
this that's not my first car but
that was the first car i drove
that was my mom's car it's like the
official car of greenway it was in what
color what color was it
either silver or marlboro dark blue
pewter dark blue it was pewter's gold
color like that
fuck you phil that's creepy dude
did you call my mom i did you know
nancy's number i did not call nance
all right every episode somebody gets
so a whisper that's not my first car
though that's a car i used to take
the you know let me always wait
hang on wasn't that right there and
pretty fucking much yeah that's a
big that's yeah mine was a Chevy
celebrity not a not a Buick that's a
beauty is that a century was the beauty
yeah sorry yeah so i hit us with the first
car so my first car that i got for 500
bucks was two two trucks and it was a
55 Chevy truck a GMC and a Chevy
i swapped the parts all around it i
hated the big tits of the GMC and the
GMC logo in the hood i wanted the 57v
dash so unfortunately that was more
rusty than the GMC so i swapped
together all those parts and
welded up rockers with the old
Lincoln stick welder you know made
that shit come together to sell to
buy a 67 Chevy long bed seat 10 that
my dad i got for Christmas my dad
my dad's old uh stock car motor so like
500 horsepower he did circle track
ratio like i was telling you
month c4 speed that me and my buddy put
in he tightened up his side when he
said he didn't have my
tightened up my side we were underneath
there getting eaten up by mosquitoes
because my dad had all the race car
stacked up race car tires stacked up
just fucking mosquito heaven
and uh broke the tabs off it
fortunately i was able to go back to
the wrecking yard that i got it
from telling that the tabs were
broken got another free one put that
in so month c4 speed the the shift
pattern was in reverse because i didn't
have the right linkage for it it's made
it come together so you know first was
backward it was you know opposite of
the way it's supposed to be but
uh linkage would fall off as i drove it
but it was slammed i made the roll pan
on a on a piece of i-beam i hammered
it over and made a roll pan they
just lapped over i put the license
plate over it welded it in and
shaved the door handles and left
the window crack so i can get in kind
of thing and have my but i put old
old i did all the interior white the
engine compartment white the motor was
like a machinery gray with the morose of
blue valve covers the anodized valve
covers morose you build a race truck
blue anodized you know well my dad was
a race car driver so yeah that's exactly
so i had it on old uh 15 inch center
lines the smoothies with the with the
spinners on it i remember a kid
stealing one from when i was in high
school a kid stole one i had to
kind of rough them up a little bit
yeah get it bad ass you had to eat
that i swear to god i did i beat
that ass yeah you don't take i
i bought i think as a package deal
i bought those stainless steel
stainless steel you know what covers
for your for your uh your coolant
hoses with the hose clamps in the
blue
flex dude what a bitch doing
so i did that on my my chimera
original dude i got those and the
spinners with the center caps all in
the same make cuts on your fingers jc
whitney cattle it was it's softer
than what an actual dude fill nice
dude rated hoses so you don't talk
much but when you do it's nice you
can't you can't get them on like
it's like a chinese finger dude chinese
finger trap and you've you're bleeding
at the end of it and and uh but boy did
that into part because it's so lackluster
when you get it's never what you want
well about a week later when they turn
gray and they're not silver anymore
they're not really stainless it's some
shitty ass
metal i wonder what the total sales
number is that's how bezos got started
someone's got a house on a hill
somewhere so many properties
shit ton of money off of that yeah
and then just that concept of the
hose clamp with the
they do yeah i did on everything oh
man yeah dude i had an everything i mean
it looked like shit when it was done
but it but i mean you work so hard when
you when you reach in pop that hood
yeah look at me dude yeah the fucking
dash 20 right like that's a that's a
fucking 400 dollar radiator hose but
anyway that was 20 bucks six i would
say my first truck even though the
55s were really my first truck um i
my 67 jevy truck long bed and i can't
find a picture of i do not i did
somewhere in a move somewhere i don't
have a picture of it so i can just
only imagine i had thunderbird i'd
Pontiac Thunderbird seats in it and not
Pontiac i'm sorry uh uh Ford Thunderbird
seats in it they were gray gray carpet
like i said the interior was all painted
white painted the the two the two the
the obviously the glove box yeah the two
hunks gray gray to match the the
block so everything matched it was
blue and gray inside but it was
primer gray the whole truck never
never painted it but cool truck
fucking fast fastest truck and i bet
i had a guy that was a Mustang
owner a 50 Mustang owner and he
won i was so pissed you know how you get
like most popular most successful most
most likely to succeed i was fucking
all in my senior year ready to get
best vehicle and some did with a 50
Mustang there's a best vehicle word
there was we didn't have that there was
i did and i didn't get it and i was
fucking i'm actually still pissed
today
let's talk about it we don't talk about
it we should you should fucking
talk about it you didn't have it at
your school went on we did nobody
gave a fuck at our school in the
midwest really i feel in the midwest
i so i built a work for like a
little over a year me and my dad
restored the 69 Camaro and it was like
we're thrashing and it was like getting
ready for a columbus debut or a sema
debut
because i was getting my license and on
the day i turned 16
i'm driving the 69 Camaro to school
yeah go driving this fucker to school
he also had a backpack super soaker so
it was way earlier that was yeah i know
it's set the stage obviously in your
head your kids were jealous dude in
your head you have this figure like
the joe aircraft the chicks are going to
just be
i didn't have one of those kids i didn't
have a g i didn't have a g i joe aircraft
he could have had one of these if he was
into g i joe he would add one i wasn't
a g i joe and i didn't fucking have one
i had a super soaker had a backpack
super soak
john york john york will tell you all
about it
he's one of those kids yeah all right
but uh is that his dad on a camaro
hey you know body shop
well body shop shop yeah but so
so you what color it's black and
white you're in school you're in school
when you turn 16 shop still owns it
yeah you saw it you saw it and it was
next to his truck oh shit that's what
you drove to high school it's come a
long way thanks then the way i talked
about my 67 Chevy truck it wasn't
that great i mean it was it's been
redone like three or four times okay
since you were you were in school
when you turn 16 like school was in
session
yes i left got my license i failed
my first time drove back to the
camaro and in your head you think
it's like people are gonna be out
there high-fiving chicks are going to be
like parton
yes of course they were no they weren't
gave a fuck 69 camaro
nobody had any clue it was like the
loud car that's the loud old car
and then i'd date like i'd like few
girlfriends that you know it was dating
these girls and they'd get in the car
and they'd like feet up on the dash
and did it would drive me yeah i would
get so pissed it's back nobody gave
a shit and that was just a old loud
smelly car so isn't that weird though
like same with me like i grew up
jay gusses doesn't like it no no jade
gusses and didn't give a fuck about it
didn't fuck jay gusses yeah nobody care
local local hollywood i mean not local
hero jay gusses is a easy character
local legend that's what i meant to say
somebody i've never met but i love the
stories about well that's funny because
i had a kid that had a fucking big
block nova that was a couple years
older than me his senior i was like
sophomore or something and he had an
orange you know whatever year six
70 nova you know what i mean whatever
orange he had money big block yeah well
he didn't actually i don't know how he
did it really i guess but anyway it was
fucking hey there's a there's a joke of
me and me and jeremy love novus right
ex body novus we we love the
ex body nova we talk about all the time
no hold on fill my my naivety here
is it ex body the square one the more
no the round the first round not the
desirable one oh it's second gen novus
here goes fill again it's technically
third gen is it really
well there was yeah oh yeah it is i
apologize i know so much about you're
right you're right you know the first
and second kind of one and a half is
too bad bitch bad bad ass fill you
know the the nova that nobody builds
say the things say the things about
the nova that you say to us i just
did yeah nobody builds those
what you how many bad ass 68 to 70
78 nova they all look the same billie
utley's gonna find you at the next show
come on with it come on with it
missy's hit
so we tell every time we see fill says
that anybody that's into those cars has
not a pot to piss in or when to throw
it out of we say that you know i say
they're in the trailer park and
there's a motor hanging from it
now we're definitely and they're
definitely not gonna like all of a sudden
hit but they were trying to like set the
trend right and fill's fucking talking
this and not so we talk about them all
the time he says we've never sell we
haven't sold near as many chances we
should have because none of those guys
have any money we talked about it all
time thousand to one and sixty nine
camaro first gen camaro's versus
novus because they're hard to find it
just hasn't found its stride yet it's
it might it might yeah it's going to
run out of everything i like to build
i love i'm cool i like the square ones
that they might be like a truck like
the real obviously they're like a
yeah those are the ones that everybody
likes sure later ones
yeah what the fuck is it about that car
that you don't like the proportions
like the way it looks it's a to me it's
like a mini chivelle or a we're a
smaller chivelle or something they're
kind of the same thing
they have the same type headlight
buckets they got the same roof line
they got it's got a fat ass
i like it i think they're good
it's made for a big ass tire
it is in the front down that real low
wheel opening that doesn't look good in
the back in relation to the height of
the roof in the quarter it looks sick
but because it's like it it's like it's
like tug it's like pre tucking when you
look at it from the back it's like a
hot chick bent over with a short skirt
you love it kind of just yeah it's
always feel like when up high and you
can kind of see when they're all the
good stuff
ends up when they're slammed they
look like the front ends on the
ground the ass is up that's what i
think of always like yeah like ass up
yeah he said all the good stuff
bits and pieces i want
ellie if you don't put that as the
fucking teaser of this episode that's
the that's absolutely the best
you can see all the good stuff am i
wrong no it's
phil thinks you're wrong that was why he
doesn't like those bits and pieces he
doesn't like the good stuff
is that why you don't like him phil
no no it's not he's gonna come around
all right all right i don't think
y'all need to build one
next up shut your mouth favorite wait
next up i'm i'm going to the bathroom
i'm taking a quick break really you have
to you have to right now i want to like
we're gonna be actively engaged in the
remainder go ahead down that it won't
take but just a second the small ones
don't take that long
all right next up i'll just phil go to
beer i've been drinking beer for a while
i didn't know the tall boys too
apparently yeah big gulpa
uh next up yes this this is standard we
do this one just about every time so a
best piece of advice you ever see

tax act is here anytime you want to
easily file your taxes tax act is
here for the early birds who like to
knock them out as soon as the
season opens and for the procrastinators
who like to wait until the very last
minute
tax act is also here for the middlers
who file right in the middle of tax
season
no one ever talks about the middlers
but tax act sees you and tax act
respects you
tax act let's get them over with
I guess it's shut up
listen
actually take a second to listen I I'm
very talkative
I will find myself quickly wanting to say
something back to what you said
sometimes not even listen to what you
said it's a bad habit
whether that's 80d or whatever that
is or just
I don't know
like as a young kid my dad's friend
race car friend called me yakky
so I'm always a talker so I think uh it
is really good
to just sit back and listen sometimes I
think that's great advice I think you
can learn a lot that way
um
I think it's good to talk like we talked
a little bit earlier
you know don't be the guy that just
sits back and nods nods at the
customer
don't be the guy that goes up and
fucking tells him every single mod
so you scare him away
but there's a happy medium there
and I think listening is a good one
um
I have to constantly tell myself to
just shut the fuck up sometimes you
know what I mean like hey chill out
I mean
you two going at it I was able to
just sit back and listen I really
thought about that because
like you said sometimes people will
preemptively think about what their
answer is to your standard questions
and that was one of them and I
thought about it hard actually
because I mean there's a ton of
there's a ton of people that
you know have taught me how to
take well for instance like I was
talking about different things
like that
that I could have used those as an
example is something that was
taught advice hey man don't do
this or do that
but I think listen is a really good
one to sit back and listen
sometimes I mean honestly the shut
up thing
Phil it probably hits hard with
Phil I wish you would have brought
that out like an hour ago an hour and
a half ago people say that all the
time how many people tell us like to
Phil just does not stop talking
stop what's on the podcast I was
thinking in the flips I think all he
was thinking about was saying shut up
during that yeah I think Phil and I
both made eye contact that was the
look of the like Christ I think
are they going to stop or am I going to
have to say something
and he just bit his tongue and he
that's going to be I started by
saying you shouldn't tell the story
and the fact that the two of you are
questioning should we tell the story
I know but further fucking drives
that's what makes us want to do it
more there's yeah there's a part of
me that still it's like mom telling
me that no I have to do it tell
the story let's hear the story but
I think that's what you should have
done I feel like I delivered it
in a like you know a way that
it was okay it it maybe it shouldn't
have been told but it also I didn't
lean into it that hard and
tomorrow morning knowing you yes you
were about yes right two to a three
yeah I didn't turn it up you're still a
twelve yeah we didn't do any of the
sounds of the noise that we were
doing in the real I wouldn't be
surprised we told it really good
I wouldn't be surprised if this
isn't like seven thirty tomorrow
morning an email from Phil to
elia a by the way added out that whole
second it's probably time no this day
there's probably times there's about
forty forty forty seven minutes to an
hour and twenty just kind of no that
stays there's a natural transition
somewhere in there you can make it work
somebody out there it will resonate
with the laugh right
it's not an educational podcast part
of it is yes I learned a lot today
yeah I did yeah there's some
education in it a little bit there
you go yeah
in that first vehicle that you were
driving that truck we're gonna we're
gonna say it's a long bad c-10
what is the go-to I like this one song
or cd at that time yep yeah while
you're driving it what do you what do
you what when you're turning the
corner and you roll the windows down
and you know somebody might hear what's
the thing that you go to I have a
confession you ready yeah
I don't know that didn't have a stereo
no didn't have a stereo none of my
vehicles do my Toyota didn't it had a
fake sub box in the back never got to
the point where okay had a had an amp in
head unit and stuff the 67 never got
there
hammerhead no radio
um I'm an engine noise kind of guy
like that's a great answer first
it's a first if I'm a daily driver guy
then sure then I've got something in it
and honestly the first subs I've ever
put in anything was my wife's car just
recently
she has a Chevrolet Silverado and I we
put you know under the backseat you
know the the the box and right there in
an amp and uh it make me thunk she
likes to listen to music you what's
she listening to if she's out and
about now right now the red clay
something or other red clay strays
red cool she is she just moved up
so many not pushing so hard to go to
one of those concerts and I oh it's
fine but you've been yeah it's fine
okay all right so here's my argument
best concert of my life shut the fuck
up we didn't just I'm sitting in the
past we didn't just go to a red clay
strays concert you can't just say that
we went to the red clay strays at the
Ryman in Nashville which I mean
honestly they've my wife they're
they're writing books and movies about
it right now it's when we talked
earlier about editing shit out this
is something that my wife is going to
have my ass okay thanks appreciate
it anyway it's a blackmail but I
listen to the cd or I lie fucking
not a cd holy fuck spotify sure
apple music whatever it is and I'm just
like it's so mellow go to the concert
is it not just like chill like everybody
is like dude it's awesome you ever
seen Elvis in person johnny
if I fucking hold him I know I haven't
know me neither but we it was like we
did it is fucking serious yes
he's great beautiful and it's a
super masculine manly boy he's got
an awesome voice shit I fucking
love the music I love the soul of
it but did you not have chills from
head to toe the whole time here in my
arm stand really it is Johnny Cash
Elvis and Waylon Jennings all mixed into
one reincarnated all right hey Catherine
I'm gonna take you to one of those
lights you have to and the rest of the
band doesn't look like they belong with
him no but they're great they're awesome
yeah but dude I'm telling you that
fucking music talent like we haven't
seen in generations unreal really I
mean the best it jump on YouTube and
start like digging into some of the
like the random stuff like the
stuff he's covered okay he just did a
a waylon lonesome ornery and mean
great waylon Jennings hard song to cover
because waylon owns it and he did it
with dirks Bentley no way right so
dirks Bentley is like you know he's
your fucking like boy band that's
but it would have been still an amazing
people like him and that's fine like
he's known for being a really good
country music singer right so he opens
it up and he's singing and then he
looks over and he kind of nods to
Brandon is the lead singer for Red
Place Trace first name first name
basic stuff buddy mind like totally he's
probably as we get out of here and be
like yo be I'll give you a shout out
like yo text him I want to take a
train right to the city we will but
my phones I keep my phone down there
while we're doing the podcast he
hands over dude I've never seen
somebody get dunked on so hard from
when he it comes on and it's like
dude it's like his soul that's like he
opens his fucking mouth and the sound
that comes out it's unbelievable
fucking awesome feeling and you see
the look in dirks Bentley's eyes of
just getting absolutely just destroyed
like he knows that this guy has a
fucking musical talent awesome and just
annihilates him all right so I'll
appreciate the performance in the
in the feeling when you're there oh
dude like you need to go to a concert
you want to be fucking pumped up and
have you will be I just felt like
every time I listen to music in the
car it's like what do you typically
listen to but what's your genre I
love Led Zeppelin classic rock I love
you know all that type of music I'm
I listen to just about anything so this
this question is a weird one for me if
there's a favorite song kind of thing
it's it's I love tool I love descendants
from back in the day will punk stuff I
love okay you know I'm I'm all over the
board kind of it's just if it's a song
and I like it whether it's a cover
whether it's a
tosh sultana just chill music you
know something random like I love
whatever so it's not like it has to be
but if I had to listen to one thing
it would probably be
probably be classic rock like Led Zeppelin
or Pink Floyd or fucking you know Ozzie
or something something old school like
that yeah I mean if you want to he's got
a song called on my knees okay and it
it's a little more Elvis see all right
it's probably one of my favorite
so but it's higher energy cool and
that's what I that's what I'm saying
like concert don't you want higher
energy I like nobody else like me
okay that's a good one I can't name
us but any honestly I could just put
it on
and add listen to every single one I'm
really I would I would my wife is
gonna fucking love this
dude you got there's it's a it's an
experience six he's playing at in
Chicago at the Salt Shed if you feel
like what's the one that when they're
one in New Browns either I think we
missed that I thought it was October
maybe it is whose whose place was
that
Phil it was remember we went to that
dude's I'm a road tour red clay
stairs are playing there remember the
dude in Texas it was like on the
middle of nowhere and he had like a
concert venue kind of there was
yeah shit tons of neon signs in the
big ass
ZZ tops bar place where they did the
uh he said he's a documentary yet
yeah he uh Vastine's yeah Vastine
yeah Brian Vastine other like couple
small shops like yeah in that place
I think that's I think that's right
Google it's I don't know when they're
playing but they're playing there
really which is that's right by me
which is a crazy small venue at this
point
they was on the way to Hills Place
yeah between New Mexico and Hills
we thought are we talking Texas
yes yeah new brownfills
yeah yeah no it's not new brownfills
that's down fucking by San Antonio
you just google it google it right now
so we can because I mean this is gonna
my wife would know my wife's gonna impact
their career you know they're I mean
they're actually gonna impact my life
seven people yeah right we're gonna
we're gonna if there's three or four
like tickets remaining we'll sell those
out no doubt in my mind
you're gonna gonna bury the needle
yes indeed

a thing for me i'd like to watch it
yeah i like to watch it on youtube
oh fair enough but uh i like a smaller

a hook up there ed will know call ed
yeah he's a hot rod he's got a big
car collection uh last but not least
let's go i'm ready hold on wait
there's two mmm wait you guys have
talked about this prior there's a oh
shit here we go oh yeah we'll end it with
that that's a new sick yeah that's a new
standard question feel we're gonna end it
with that you feel that's a quick one
that's an easy one uh law enforcement
yep most memorable law enforcement
interaction story
oh no which one uh street bike one or
truck one street bikes you're probably
doing like two yeah yeah fair enough
fair enough right right right okay
bringing from the cops you're fucking
right totally lame stupid yeah i mean
it's cool yeah it was bullshit you a
super cool bro you a boost or zx gsx
r1000 but not a booster 1000 i know
dog all right it's cool yeah am i a
boost a guy do i look like an abu i just
was i'm trying to try to all right
yeah put you on r1 though i can put you
on r1 i'm on gsr 1000 you got another
one no i just i can picture you gsxr
Suzuki i i'd love to have a rc8 ktm rc
it's like my dream bike i think that'd
be a cool ass bike tone but never
never i don't think it's got enough
ass though i never rode one i like
that though yeah okay um more powerful
in your honda shadow yeah but not as
reliable
all right i got one where i didn't
interact feel careful on the motorcycle
jabs all right stones glass houses
knees
broken ribs like you went down you went
down huh no in a parking lot no we'll
just we'll move forward we need to wrap
this shit uh all right um i'll tell you
i'll tell you silly one i had a so i
built a toy to pick up back in the day
for a middle mini truck a little a
little independent rear suspension tube
chassis little truck i just recently
bought it back actually after all
these years i sold it to a guy
that uh ended up calling me back
20 some years later and said like hey
do you want to buy this thing back
absolutely um i've just got it back
recently so that's what's fresh in my
mind as far as a interaction with the
police but technically no interaction
i'm getting ready to go out i'm going to
take the mini truck we're going either
to a cal truck jam or some show or i
forget what i was doing with the truck
but it was there normally i kept it up
drove my other truck in the meantime
i walk out to my truck as i'm walking
down the driveway california super
steep driveway i'm i'm up in the
trees like walking down towards the
street i have a parked on the street
and i realized there's a cop behind
my truck oh shit i back up i don't
want to i don't want to interact
right so it's not really an
interaction or an experience with a
cop but i watched him write a ticket
he's walking up to the front he's all
shit he realizes there's there's it's
touching the ground that's the first
one uh the ticket was for touching road
surface the next one was touching road
service touching road surface the next
one with your face right in the
fucking ticket like that
so the second one was stupid i want
to sell right second one was uh
no reflectors in the taillights
because i had molded a peep big huge
the whole the whole tailgate was a
piece of lexan which which i had a
bunch of like but this was back in the
day
i had a bunch of 1157s down there which is
wild oh because i didn't have you know
what 1157s are
it's a fucking bowl yeah that thing's
fucking ain't you gotta the thing's
about the kitchen on fire yes i would
hit them i would hit the brakes i would
hit the brakes and everything would go
brrrr
you know right so anyway i had like
20 1157s in there because there's no
LEDs at the time i mean there was
but you had to literally solder them
together and wear them together
so anyway uh that and a bunch of
other things
i watched him walk over to go put it
underneath the windshield wiper well
there was no windshield wipers i shared
the windshield wipers that was another
one that was another one so i sort of
got to watch him walk back and forth
through the car like three times right
more down it's like fuck dude he tried
stiff sticking it underneath the
windshield wipers and he walked around
he's like he kind of like shoved in
the belt molding
dude why don't you roll that up tight
yeah dude i just i was up at this
point i was upstairs a while at this
at this point i was up there fucking
laughing i got the ticket i never
even paid it i never did anything
with it nothing ever happened to it as
far as i know
because i've registered the vehicle
after um and obviously the have you
gotten pulled over in california since
then of course okay i mean you're good
then living in yeah right yeah exactly
you would know benches old little
things they'll have a come back and
bite you have a crazy way of coming
back in southern california you don't
not get pulled over it's the main
source of revenue i think that motor
cops dude bite cops they fucking
suck dude so i got i got a ticket i did
i had my s10 my body dropped s10 i was
driving in the fast lane here's my
second one to this sorry i don't mean to
double yeah get it but i'm in the fast
and i just moved to california i'm a
maybe a year in i buy a truck that's
supposed to be this reliable little
four cylinder zuzu motor in an s10 and
i body drop the fucking thing and
put billets on it like a dummy but i
didn't have i saw all but i guess i
sheet metal screwed together and i had
a fucking welder but um cut the
coils and then i had to put it back
up so i put those spacers in the fucking
coils because i cut them too much and so
anyway i'm driving down the freeway in
the fast lane in a body drop s10 and
everyone else is is right in line with
me a cop comes up in a traffic break
they'll do a traffic break in southern
california where the cop comes up
carpool lane and starts cutting across
with his lights on start going back
and forth and back and forth which
then makes a traffic break which all
the other cars go ahead up ahead
there's something on the road a cop
runs out and grabs something or
there's an accident or whatever the
reason is that they're doing a traffic
break well after he's done as we're all
doing like 20 miles an hour turns his
lights off but he's halfway between the
carpool lane and the fast lane i'm in
the fast lane well he decides to pull
in to the to the carpool lane
everyone else on the in the other
slow lane up to me starts going well
i i start heading off to and like
taking off just like i would like
everyone else
well he pulls in pulls in behind me
and pulls me over and told me i was
not obeying i was failure to yield
to emergency vehicle
well i went to traffic school and it was
like an 800 dollar ticket
i'm making fucking i don't know 300 bucks
a week or some shit i'm making like 12
bucks not even i'm making 750 an hour
or some shit like that at the body shop
and spend even and you know i'm i'm
in i'm in the class and i've got my
hand raised everybody raised their hand
and then okay everyone from zero to
100 lower hand i was the last person
i'm the youngest person in there and
then also the last person with my
hand up at the most expensive ticket
for fucking some dumb bullshit that
i think he just pulled me over to
pull me over because i had a lower truck
but you know part of the game
part of the course not mini truck fans
nah dude not a mini truck fan but guess
what it's all worth it you know when
you're driving a mini truck and everyone
else is driving stock shit you know
what i'm saying
fucking small fucking small like that
bro yeah small price to pay to be a
mini trucker dude
so anyway the mini truck the the
little toyota i don't know if you've
ever seen it and if you're a mini
truck guy
silver with the uh you got the
paint on the hood right yeah that
was actually a green and silver truck
before it was a black and silver
truck i i painted it on thursday to
sell it on sunday and uh if you go to
yeah there it is so i got that yeah
click on that remember we're talking
about those choppy wheels the ugliest
wheels you've ever seen in all your
life are called kmc elfs i sold i sold
quite a few of those look at that
fucking truck that thing makes me so
happy so a lot of those in with
adapters on hunting for no
suburban's what because they chopped
mm well those things fucking chop
and i love this shit out of that
truck it's so nice to like me
what's the motor and so 2020 re has an
l uh it has a trd cam in it so it it's
just uh it's just a it's a feel
injected motor 22 re a little four
cylinder it they fucking actually rock
man they're good little motors little
rim shop story back in the day selling
rims
we would take them off the rack right
if we're looking at buying them take
them off the rack the wheels off the
rack right selling rims right because
that's what we were doing so we
weren't selling just wheels we're
selling rims rams you'd put the
you'd put the wheel savers yeah the
plastic rim savers yeah that would go
on from the boxes you set it up you'd
put one of those on each on the front
and back right and we'd roll it across
the showroom floor where they would
stand back and they got to see the
chop you want to see the light that
it picks up watch this wheel now this
is ugly can you serious hey jeremy
this is can you say this is not a lie
phil right you'd say this is jeremy
this is ugly wheel yes
uh terrible looking wheel but watch it
look at look at that chop right there
brother dude okay that's got that's got
now that i know what shop is i would
say that's got some shell is tail lights
so the the tail lights used to go all
the way across the back they used to be
a uh like the tribal a tribal would go
down see the tribal that's on the hood
that used to run all the way down the
side i did this paint job just to
turn around and sell it because
everybody knew my truck i actually
won mini truck of the year with that
truck in 2003 you know what wheel
chop more than any other wheel ever
kmc elba nope assassins
ooh good call a saunty assassins saunty's
they so those are 97 chord headlights
brother in a toyota phil you're not
feeling it dude you hate it you hate it
so much i miss the whole mini truck
did you timely how do you me and phil
both did have did you really just didn't
hit oh that's just up in our there
was nothing really see now that's i it's
funny because in wisconsin i grew up
with a uh i had a i had a just a
lowered s10 blazer on american racing
17 inch american racing wheels and many
trucks were we had a little bit of that
a little bit of that i like that s10
extremes yeah the extremes are cool
i think we were just in a like had a
different kind of vibe like we we went
to like the the chevy vet fest right
and like because you're down with a
hot rod our body shop our body car
our muscle car but that was the
mean if you're building a 69 camaro
yeah yeah that was just like what was
in for i mean that was where did you
grew up up right around here right in
the north shore area and
yeah timely from timely uh
uh oof shout out i guess because of uh
who's coming this he's probably already
been on at the time of this airing
okay story you told me on the way here
he knew who else had those same ugly
wheels yeah i don't is he coming down
here he's already done that he's done
he's done the podcast it just hasn't
aired yet i know shit so i'm walking
down main street i just ordered these
wheels i thought i was cool as
shit ordering these wheels right like
they were the shit back then anyway
i'm walking down main street huntington
beach and i see the top of a blue
something or other from a distance and
when you see the when you see the
upper drip rail lower than like a
camera you're like what the f***
so i i continue i sprint down there
check it out it's a body drop to coma
and it's mike finnigan's truck and
i'm i'm so f***ing pissed because i
just ordered these wheels like on
friday it's saturday night in or saturday
day and i'm down street down down main
street huntington and there he just
can't he just moved from new york and
there's new york plates on it and it's
hammered and i'm i was so pissed off
but anyway finnigan and i've been
we've been friends for a long time now
since since then because of our
mini truck in connection obviously and
he showed up on the wheels he did
show he had him before me and his
truck was sick as s*** but uh yeah
but i have it back and i don't i don't
think that he has his truck but
we'll have to have a conversation i'm
sure i could see finnigan rolling out
some kind of nasty mini truck i would i
would love that he would
oh yeah that's probably a man he's such a
it's such a badass dude he's he's so
awesome we had like
kind of sort of cross passes him here
and there but like all these years i've
never met him
oh okay because he's so talkative and
correct right exactly there would
probably been a hundred opportunities
if only josh was there to bridge the gap
yeah we're up now finnigan
but that's finnigan not finnigan i don't
know what yeah but yeah
josh could have bridged the gap but then
it was like yeah let's just keep
like because that's gonna turn into a
whole conversation yeah we gotta talk
and but really cool yeah i mean it's
the best yeah one of the nicest guys
yeah yeah one of the nicest guys
he's in he's already done it he
said he's in a cool s*** is he here
no he did it zoom we're doing round two
in person we're gonna do some
should we bring up the drag boat s***
the matrix on the drag boat yeah
yeah that was f***ing freaky
what's super freaky
finnigan's a big drag boater right he's
dude yeah he is
so jere brings up the fact that growing
up as i don't know if you remember the
and they walked away videos
yeah dude yeah
he's like everything i know about a
drag boat video is the boat stopping
and the guy just going straight over
the front
yeah
so finnigan brings it up
talk about something else
drag what happened because you don't
see you don't get the scale of speed in
the video correct you just all and you
don't hear it you just see the guy all
of a sudden roll out over the bow
it's slowly almost it's kind of weird
yeah it falls out
so we're talking about drag boats a
little bit more talking about blarney
island which is on this little lake
up here where they do drag boat racing
every thursday every thursday every
thursday
so he brings up something oh yeah we
got drag boating at bar and island
finnigan just go oh blarney i got
to be there that's like bucket list
item yeah i don't
we finished the podcast
that was a wednesday we did the
part or tuesday we did the podcast
i'm just looking at facebook and
there's a local like police
reporter blotter facebook page
drag boat racing blarney island
guy goes over the front of the boat
oh shit you guys talk to you do
existence yeah
fuck and i think that like hours
later we tend to do that we can
control he was fine great good good
yeah fitting it was talking about how
they got like a parachute
and like the article it's like
everything worked the parachute came
out stopped him he walked away just
fine but had to go to dude there's
they got they got f16 capsules in
those things and stuff too like some
of them are really like the top fuel
boats yeah if you that shit's crazy
to me i mean have you ever gone
80 miles an hour 50 miles an hour on
the fucking water yeah it's crazy
yeah to do 100 plus on the on the
waters in those going like this
like yeah we're sitting on top of it
as we were talking to him because doing
like like we taught we did like 160
in a in a customer's body ours in a
cat he's got a an mtf 160 but you're
down in 48 right it's a 48 cat and
you're down in it and it's you know the
windshields up and it feels like it
feels like 40 because it just feels
safe and it feels really connected
160s crazy yeah oh yeah i always
saw that right because it's fast i've
been around both growing up on
v-bottom boats and like same thing like
60 miles an hour you're white and you
could die at any minute yeah
absolutely but that feels like you know
really fucking safe but then 60 in like
a like a small like sheet of plywood
is what they're in like a laminated
sheet of plywood and some fiberglass
in one of those i mean dude they're
doing 100 what do you say like 130
and you're sitting on it's like a
surfboard you're sitting on top of it
that is nuts is insane it's absolutely
insane to me that's like seven trauma
i was traumatized i'm like michigan one
time as a kid and i'm out i'm out on
boats dude really i'm out on i'll
surf maybe but then there's sharks so
then i find myself lifting my feet
i didn't mean like
they're in long toes
these sharks
dangling words dude hold on they're
good because they can't grip a baseball
bat they can't what else did you
ask me you fucking creep
we start Jesus Christ that's the
call circle that's that's a circle
back into the final question and the
last last but not least let me
see your toes this is the first can i
see your toes
this is the first installment of what
will now become a standard
oh here we go across all this is the
first time first time your hands are
carrying you're setting the
presence i don't think that i'm not
good at this we've never done it
before this is first answer and a
wrong answer
oh fuck you feel that the pressure is
now even worse no it's pretty like the
writing's on the wall
all right still own or burt reynolds
and why
how long let me see how long your arm
let me see how long your arm is all right
cool
part's pretty badass but uh still own i
think i always feel like still own was
fake you know what i mean like he always
had he always put that on well he was
an actor
right and he sure reynolds was not
yeah but he was also badass in real
life
because he played football before an
actor in real life
yes still on the soft cork porn in
real life
it was filmed so there's a supposed
but yeah it's real life
so still own why
hi i'm not saying still own okay i think
i'm saying burt
fucking a i think burt's my jam i'm
sorry guys i apologize as much as more
manly
as much as i wanted to be on that side
of the table most of the fucking
podcast
i was
you were fucking tough today i know
the joshes are over here but fucking
did dude today was rough dude i'm not
going to lie kind of side with you
you do quite a bit you know i'm
going to lie
what now like burt on there's i'm
sorry to disappoint you guys that's
fully laid out it's all about
opinions but you know everybody's
talking in the band it's pretty dope
you know everyone has their time to be
wrong and this is yours this is my time
it's exciting so i mean we're gonna have
a counter
we really need to put up a counter
right now we need the x one to zero
how about this i'm not a huge although
although his wife and rocky was in one
of my favorite or in my favorite
movie of all time tell you sure
which is rad
yes which is the movie rad
yes my favorite movie the movie i've
watched the most of all i actually
got to meet
my my my childhood hero
crew jones bill allen
okay um did hell track race the track
actually in real life which was super
fucking cool dropped on the drop down
the the wall that is pretty cool yeah
it was quite the experience honestly
but um i have to go with
birds birds and it's do that mustache
dude come on dude like is it the
mustache or smoking the band it's
smoking the band i like let me ask
you this then have you seen the
movie cobra
cobra's dope
cobra's dope but guess what
have you that's your okay
no hold on hold on bro that's your
silver bullet hey no that's just
that's just gonna be a blood
bath the rest of the season you ready
for this shit have you watched the
movie sure have you seen it but have
you watched it have you watched when
he jumps that motherfucker
and all the hubcaps fly off and he
slams against the other fucking car
and then the next scene is fucking
perfectly fine it's just it's like a
comedy movie
take that back
well have you seen smoking the band
it yeah have you seen where he picks
up the hot chick and i don't dislike
like i'm not i know i get it i know
you don't i got one i got one quick
question
is it the tracksuit is it the tracksuit
no it's not that's right that's
that just adds to the whole allure
the coontosh yeah what is it
yeah what is it that's it it's a
rocky what is it it's rocky it's
Rambo it's mary and kibretti and
cobra it's over the top over the
top over the top over the top of
the great movie he's got a weight
machine
it does it literally come over
ah hey have you seen gator you seen gator
no watch gator have you seen the movie
wizard yes a little kid yeah have you
ever seen the tie-in with that where he
sells his truck on over the top to
to to spanky and then spanky's in the
movie wizard and he saves the kid from
from getting like crashed into or
whatever it is he blocks the street
wizards with the california
movie where they're going to california
yes to play the nintendo when super mar
brothers three came out right great
fucking great fucking movie super sad
but he sells his truck to spanky the
hawkinson's the hawkinson's truck the
hawkinson's truck is in is in wizard
he's spanky's in wizard shit check that
out one time i gotta check that i so
there's a little that's a little i've
got one question to end us out right
and we're we're gonna keep doing
this for the rest there's a lot
there's a lot there's all kinds but
i've pretend just for a second yeah
that these actors and these movies never
existed
right just pretend for a second what do
you mean
so so still own and reynolds oh they
never existed none of these movies that
they did existed
but we still do car show stuff just
just follow with me okay with me i'm
getting you in a mindset so we still
do car shows just like we do you're
at a car show yeah and there is the
transam from smoking to bandit yeah and
there is the mercury from cobra yeah
and you're walking through which one
would you walk up and look at or like
well let's see both we've got a bone
fucking stock transam down okay off the
factory floor okay just some random
anybody don't forget about the whip
in ten of them literally anybody could
have bought that that would be the
it doesn't matter about it's not
about creation today that would be like
think you're missing on both of them
that'd be like a v6 come who like oh
dude look at that v6 come out of ho
right
mm-hmm which was not fairly standard
horsepower fairly standard equipment
back then josh i might have your back
a little bit on this one verse you're
like oh look at that dude that mother
fucker chopped a 50 fuck did he make
it look good but hold on every
fucking murky costume he did
bondo bucket you just fill all those
scenes no no i said he's forget that
the cars then the movie doesn't
exist this is just a car that is
sitting there the movie doesn't exist
it hasn't made it cool it's just that
bad hood scoop and that everything else
bad mark your car's not lowered at
stock hide pretty much like if you
watch the movie it's fucking ready to
jump something that's a horrible car
bondo it's not a great car yeah okay
you got moon disks on it you're
right you would appreciate all
original what you're what you're
what he doesn't we're watching it i
would be looking at the cars what
years this that we're looking at the
last week okay last week then i'd go to
the fiber take car transit rocky
magnum pi ferrari verse hawking sun's
truck hey put it in the back hey you
would load it in the back and just
fucking nobody would ever see it again
that was tom sellick holy shit i fucked
that up that was tom sellick i was
wondering where the which where you
were going with that i just went
with it that's how forgettable
burt reynolds's yeah same guy both
happy guys that's how
for you know that's just another guy
with a fucking mustache so you're
gonna hang you're gonna in front of
everybody that's listening and watching
you're gonna i'll go on the record and
say that you're picking the mercury
right now you're picking the mercury
that the movie's there to exist no
you're not you got a reputation right
no i'm not picking the i'm picking
the farm fresh fucking but i i put
the lamborghini jalpa in well this
would you well we're talking about cars
that still own drove sure i think rocky
three rocky three he's fucking driving
that it that's a bad that wasn't it
wasn't a hero car it doesn't he doesn't
need a hero car he doesn't need a car
to make him that's the thing i think
you've made my point no i'm in the
question right now that car made
burt reynolds take that fucking car
out burt reynolds and shit oh watch
your time hey whoa what the fuck whoa
he's still at like 117 years old he
was still hanging on to that car
still owns still kicking dude he's
rocking out all kinds of when's the
last time you've seen still own in
wranglers dude tight ass fucking but
hugger right he doesn't need to do
because he's evolving because he's in
track suits he's in track suits and
fucking he's evolving his career
fucking you know what he's not he's
not getting taller he might be
evolving
he's not getting taller doesn't that
mike herman it doesn't matter what
doesn't matter that's a shit argument
no the one question i bully that's a
bully i separated everything else out
and i just put it down to the cars and
you're picking the trans am there
you don't have to regardless of anything
i doesn't mean it doesn't mean that's
bird ran it doesn't mean that when
this is a fucking question for the
take for the guest happy birthday
following robot go ahead the trans am
go ahead this is a question for the
guest or is this pretty sweet you to
argue in anybody anybody can answer
yeah i mean the happy birthday poly
robot wins in that argument but that's
not available
so
still own getting into the like what is
that 89 lamborghini gelpa
nobody knows what a gelpa is we should
a valid you should you ought to you
ought to you ought to you should
fucking know what it is i'll fucking
check it out after a hollow creed
just got fucking killed right by
oven drago
to devastating god it is that devastating
you're such a bummer is that he gets in
there revs that fucker up
after his wife's like there's no fucking
way you're going to fight this guy
he has a great part of the movie no
easy way out on the radio
dude it's a great scene from the
movie first
i got a fucking antenna that goes
like this
all right in the middle of my car
that i bought a stock car that my
antenna goes like this running from
cops that's the daddy we go
music
you can't just pick that song if you're
going to pick scene we got picked
scene verse scene
but the question what that's fine
we're going to this is going to
continue you're going to have some time
to think about this is ongoing right
now
the guest picked
burt so it's burt it's one it's burt
one one to zero
so sly zero where's the fucker ticker
we need to we need to document that
and the tree the ta the ta is one
to zero on the mark right now too
because that's a thing
okay i'll say the t as a tough one
hold on it's not one you can't argue
that hold on it's not is it one does
you i wanted to see how hard he was
gonna go is it one of you two making
the vote no it's yes yes guess okay
well because he voted for the fucking
ta as well
yeah the ta wins every it's a that's
an it's an
but he's a rough car next episode
he fucking drives the shit out yeah
next episode he can craft a
plausible reality around a rambo
something to a thing
and if you just piece first piece
sometimes sometimes sly's gonna win
well i just figured out what i'm but in
that instance right home
in that in that instance then the
trans am wins which goes to burt
all i'm saying is that
stillone doesn't need the vehicle
dude him and himself he only needs a
fucking knife and he needs a toothpick
dude he needs a toothpick
no way that's all it was in cobra
in cobra it was a fucking pair of aviators
and a fucking tooth all burt
gloves all
tough guy with the holes we're gonna
end it we're gonna end the episode on
this statement right here
all burt needed was a mustache
because he proved that with several
photo shoots of just him and his
mustache
hmm all right so he didn't need
anything else we're gonna follow
it's stillone ever bear it
yes he did
dude he had a he was a soft he was
in porn yeah dude yeah that's not a
win he was doing that to make me he
wasn't doing that because he was
he did it he did it okay but that's
that doesn't go as a win call do it do it
because he couldn't act he didn't need
that it he didn't need that
like here's what i want the next
next podcast i want to see a side by
side
mary and kibretti character because
we're going by car okay we don't care
about cars that's fine characters
versus characters the reality is that
both the cars suck right okay
none turned in character for character
and george tag on the front of it
i want you to take
stillone and cobra with the toothpick
and the fucking aviators and the
tough guy gloves next to just a guy
goes to pretty key
burt reynolds with moustache like i
here's how the mustache well hold on
you listed like three things burt reynolds
with it what about his tight wranglers
bro he can wear the ring if you're
gonna bring if you're gonna bring
kibretti in with a leather jacket and
a toothpick then i get burt with
snowman
who take burt with whatever you were
burt with snowman beats everybody
burt and a mustache and a hat and a
cowboy hat and fucking tight wranglers
and a red shirt put it up there
it's frog i mean come on that's a
nickname there's a fucking nickname
frog it wasn't his what's i don't know who
it was i don't even lie
yeah yeah that's his name dude no it's not
look at that little guy
you know what you're making me hate him
i feel like dude i feel like i'm
fucking treading water over here all by
myself
that's because he's not a fucking guy
he's quiet he feels quiet
jesus christ
this is the let's put it let's put it
out there
god sorry we need to get uh we're
gonna this is gonna
we're gonna take this to the end of
the season
this is a hot topic i think we gotta
rank it this is a hot take do you
think this is universally okay
soundtrack cars had better songs
yeah i'd go body count wait what are we
talking about
that's one category he's still owned
another look at his fucking wife
dude
he doesn't need a body count it's
gorgeous
beautiful beautiful beautiful woman we're
talking fictional or real so our
forget that anybody's listen you're
gonna take one beautiful woman
up against a bunch of beautiful women
and somehow one wins
dude they're both celebrities
wait now we're into real life we're not
just the fucking characters no rody
there's hundreds of celebrities isn't he
divorced who
fucking your guy yeah and then he
keep bounce back like
fuck i feel like i feel like i'm losing
but i'm not even i'm not giving up
whose idea was this
of the next hour i'll talk about it
no i think you need to go on a training
montage and come back strong you gotta
come back you gotta come back with
some content i'm going to cyberia
who i'm gonna fucking just train
fucking fight vlad
yeah i'm gonna train and you gotta get
knocked down a little bit to come back
hey i'm working i've got notes i've got
notes i'm ready okay yeah i'll get
sides of beef i mean that's at the
tail end that'll be at the tail end of
my career okay but
rocky what's the what's your favorite
rocky hold on you need to dress like
that next podcast i will if i can
uh oh i could if i could look like
burt oh yeah i'm pretty you go to
any treks that you could find that i'll
dress like burt but nobody can do
it's brad you know when your bird
all you can do is put that pushbroom on
because you don't have a dick you don't
have a chiseled facial structure like
that you don't have a fucking jawline
like a great god
dude damn like chiseled in fucking stone
i feel like this is going a little
homoerotic it's getting a little
good it's getting a little good
it's getting a little good
fucking and here's and here's the
post that the shit we were talking
about pre and post here's your only
fans homoerotic this is the yeah
this is honestly there's a portion of
this that's like a build-up because i
know there's
some like far-fetched thought that
maybe stalone is gonna like this is
gonna catch his his eye or his ear
he's not like maybe like you know what
i hope he doesn't do this
yeah you know what carry wants to build
he wants to build that part he wants
to build the ta he wants to build a
firebird that's
there's a fucking transam i mean if
something's gonna get him that that
would be it that's a pretty good
impression okay we'll car would he
want to build dude i don't know i
mean i feel like we would do like
a restamod cuntush you know no i would
be sick that would be his point in time
that's an eevee oh he's gonna be doing
some type of silvarado eevee if burr if
burr hey here if if the heavens would
grace us and bring burr back he'd build
another clone of the same god damn
car don't talk shit on a dead man
dude come on not what farm to build
josh burr the same motherfucking car
you know it dude you know it you're
right he would fuck you're right
i'm sorry about that question up take
that scratch it
fucking cut it yeah but you're right
he would because that's his identity
you're right fucks don't switch me to
the other side dude i'm not going to be
a flip flopper still and we all have
wins and losses there's been a lot of
not this is a win this is a win josh
this is why it's such an interesting
topic it's a hot topic it's a healthy
debate there's a lot of yeah because
it's you know it is a lot of give and
take i will i will say that i want to
go back and do my research i'll
fucking i'll text you guys i'll
call key back in it's more it's more
complex than what somebody would think
on the surface we were i was very
surface obviously i'm not either of them
so there is no clear cut it gets i mean
obviously it's a cut for burr but if you
want to get into the discussion there's
a lot of wins and losses on both sides
sure there's things that burr did that i
wasn't like i will ask about though when
i saw the fucking murk jump and
shit and smash into shit it was
cool as shit but you look back on it
now that car's a piece what else was
buried in yeah the car side smoking
the bandit it was like the cannonball
run yeah gator was an amazing movie
everybody hey what movie was that where
the coontosh fucking skipped across the
lake
it's cannonball run was it speed was
the cannonball run speed zone six back
six oh hey that's my fucking one of my
favorite movies if you're gonna ask
that question my wife brought that up
because i watched it all great movie
that reminds me of bb the kid with
Jonathan ghoulsby's number one favorite
by far that fucking nothing even
comes close
uh this is going to be a good one
because there's lots of stuff to bring
out uh i feel like it's about these
things like you old fuckers yeah i don't
know that fuck you phil that was the first
one that was once again i wonder if i
wonder if it hits with everybody a
minute like people without a rp cards
no dude come on phil you wear it well
i mean you rocky four rocky four rocky
five 38 to 40 fuck you phil i mean
thank you phil honestly tough fucking
call that's not even it's not even
close i'm one of the rare like rock
to five the majority of the movie is
not good oh no shit end fight scene
the street fight is one of the best
it's one of the best and a best quote
what was that again i'm sorry tommy gun was
a joke it tommy gun was a bitch a joke
the way he put him in the place tommy
time way he what a traitor they should
have stopped it for i missed it what we
know he's talking about he wants to
know rocky maybe after five five
but yeah rocky five's for like a true
a true fan like if you can hang with
you gotta support you know you gotta
sport for through the beginning of the
movie i'm not that deep i don't know i
only know is i know the big fucking
russian dude i love i guess that i was
gonna end this but um here we are
we're in rambo yet work i know that's
that's save that for the rest of the
season i keep that in my backpack uh
that's when you guys like that's pretty
hard to argue i think that's like
throw mama from the tree that's like
boost to pass that's a boost to pass
button i think that the story that's
the gnost yeah oh right oh right first
blood too soon yeah i think that the
story don't hit the gnost too soon bro
the story of uh Sylvester Stallone's
tenacity and him getting rocky picked
up
but he sold his dog it was it took one
hunt yeah and you gotta get him back
pretty pretty princess i know but i think
that to hold on here you have a pretty
pretty princess dog yeah i got i got
yeah i raised show dogs it's not a big
deal yes it is what kind of dog uh
french bulldogs frenchie that's right
that's right it's that's different i
thought we were talking like some
fucking they're foreign fighting
bulldogs it's like it's a frenchie
pretty hardcore thing they're pretty
pretty princess yeah yeah they're
from France they're cute
uh pretty badass hey you guys are
weird as fuck you know that
uh 100 times to sell this to sell the
movie that's a lot that's how many times
he pitched it yeah he pitched rocky the
the story that he pitched it 100 over
100 times and he kept on it he got 100
nose that's just fuck it's a great
story it's a great story it's a
tenacity um i would i would be
interested to know how many times
that uh burt had to sell a movie
not a one i've got ass in those
fucking b rated movies did burt
oh did burt like the movie i would uh
if you weren't comparing yourself to
fucking saloon you would think that
those are great movies dude
don't hate on those fucking movies
you're just fighting what was i'd be
curious to know how cannonball
run performed in its heyday i think a
lot would you i'm no honestly this is
a question oh here we go i mean we've
got the we've got the internet and
there's nobody listening in comparison
in comparison to what your flight
just a couple hours away in general
like was that was that a hit well
boys another one or what since we're
still hey might as well yeah talking
about our old brothers we're gonna pay
the dm yeah we're doing a light one or
are we doing a yeah all right
right okay so you hit me pretty hard i
did hit you i apologize yeah i would
just do a light one
figure dream uh joshie in
all right
can i'm not gonna be able to navigate
for no hair
that'd be good achieved a moderate
box office success grossing over
160 million worldwide okay
became a classic despite receiving
mostly negative reviews from critics
what year was this there's this total now
81 cannonball run why don't you just
don't type you know 100 million what
number it is but type in uh rocky
gross revenue rocky best rocky movie
gross revenue have you guys stopped
filming in top stop recording
fucking hours and it's still good
everybody stopped listening that was
still recording i think sorry guys
i'm no Joe roby 160 160 million that's
less than 1.7 billion is what i got
is that more than uh so rocky for 300
millions more right that is more by
almost exactly twice yeah it was also
it was also how many smoking the
bandits did they make it's 15 years
after that how many smoking the
bandits did they make well with
bird or toad bird three two two they
didn't want to do more afterwards
they moved on to a bunch of other stuff
and how did those movies do
oh we're comparing his hope the original
rocky in we can't go through the rest of
the season's worth of ammo in one the
original rocky in 1976 was 225 million
well in 76 it's five years earlier and
600 000 more what have you said is how
much turn off the internet versus
turn off the internet yeah the number
you're gonna keep digging yourself
deeper and deeper no i know you just
asked a question that you as far as
cannonball run versus rocky rocky
absolutely gross more money that's a
loss for burt there
what a lot of money but yeah but but
true actors that do passion projects
and select that generally they don't
gross as well they're not they're not
mass appeal type of stuff
an actual a natural car movie an
actual car related movie not just a
i mean that's i mean honestly that's
it that was something that burt wanted
me to ask you a question yeah it's
a passion project the burt reynolds
buy a coontosh like as a personal car
no he had a fleet of t a state
exactly sorry josh yeah i'll bet your
bird if you want to know what i can get
some data i'll bet your burt reynolds
had like a two-wheel drive
fucking silverado 1500 hey burt had a
collection there was a car guy was he
really yeah i'm i i don't mean he
really did like it was about yeah
ill of the dead i don't dislike bird i
just like it's the one better
obviously look at the fucking picture you
found
i won't so you're gonna just straight up
i'm gonna ask ai yeah what's it's uh
hold on do a fucking google search who's
better do a do a a fucking
burt versus slice the loan
rocky now we do a rocky are we doing
slice alone who's better
it's better subjective what it is
analysis just go cut down to the yeah
cut down to the work you forgot about
deliverance nobody ever talks about
deliverance is one of the absolutely
it's in the top ten of cinematic
masterpieces of all time strictly for
breaking the ankles no off putting
that's different movie that's misery
misery that's that's a tough movie i am
off on my burt reynolds uh you never
watched uh deliverance i've never
have that's a movie
is that the banjo the original longest
yard
that's a good holy shit scroll down to
the yeah right here's the loan it's a
that's the loans of it just doesn't have
a lot there people are he's got rocky
and rambo
honestly
if you think about the loan oh it's
too it's two guys
oh jeremy it's two characters
stop the scroll to the two that have
not a lot of dialogue stop
real limited dialogue
scroll down i'm i'm scrolling it's
there's just nothing else left yeah that's
it
that's the end of the sorry that's ai
burt wins
hey you guys you know what the sad part
is
josh you don't have to ask this question
again
you know fucking no one's listening
well you don't have to ask this
question again
we have four minutes left before we
break the record of all time longest
podcast
i'm fucking sorry i'm gonna read i'm
gonna read the analysis
just as it's not once it's edited
burt reynolds was celebrated for
his natural charm
comedic timing and ability to blend
action with humor
particularly evident in films like
smoking the bandit
he also delivered acclaimed dramatic
performances in films such as
deliverance and boogie nights
the latter earning him his only academy
award nomination
that'll probably be interesting to
note it
for later on in
the analyst and analysis the academy
award nomination he held the top
spot as the world's number one movie
actor for five consecutive years
78 to 82
sylvester stalone is widely recognized
for his portrayal of tough determined
characters most notably
rocky balboa and john rambo
which solidified his status as an
action icon
salon not only started in these
films
starred in these films but also wrote
many of them
demonstrating his creative versatility
is one of only two actors to have
started a number one box office film
across six consecutive decades
well
he garnered three academy award
nominations
i wish i wouldn't have brought that
up earlier
that's interesting that they said that
including one for his writing of the
original rocky screenplay
but that's the thing about academy
awards is
yeah is is in
is it like mother's
this is like mother's children back
they don't just give those out to
anybody
yes they do
yes they actually do dude
that that shit's rigged
that's interesting
i think you need to look that up
like chat gpt
because the next question would be then
so who's number one
yeah don't do it
and that's for next podcast
yeah there you go
save something for next podcast
no chat gpt is saved for the
for the end
in case it's a tie
this is we we're going to make our
arguments
but we're going to take the tally
of the guests
some here on out
we're going to need a like a
like a road shop score
yeah ellie is going to put up a
scoreboard that we can put on
what we're going to do
we're going to create a new
backdrop
just for this segment
we're gonna have to have
you pick the
you what you think is the best
picture of sly
if you think that's it
that's fine
that was a teaser
that's just a yeah
i would i would agree
i would find something better
did you give him a heads up
that you were
that you had a picture of
like did he have a rebuttal
did he no
we he he he wanted to have a
little got a little extra sly
it's a good picture
i slide that one in there
it's ah
this has been
an absolute blast
yeah it's been fun man
honestly i can't tell you i was so nervous
i can't tell you how much i was so nervous
but i honestly this is a
fucking blast you guys
you guys make it so easy
you guys this is some of the most
fun that we have had
literally in three years
this is a really really good time
fun fucking hang honestly
i really appreciate it man
i can't tell you how much you guys
this is fucking
from seeing the shop
to being up here
like when i walked in
it's so impressive
i brought a fucking
lame bottle of whiskey for y'all
when you have
every bottle of whiskey ever made
there's no such thing as a lame
bottle i didn't want to show up
empty-handed so
honestly guys
thank you so much
i really appreciate it
thanks for asking me
all the questions you did
and digging into my personal stuff
and and really get to know me
