LIVE
Welcome to the Avant's podcast. I'm Dan.
I'm Nick.
And there's Brian.
Hi.
The light just came on.
He's a lot.
Oh, yeah, we have a motion light.
The light just came on.
Yeah.
We need we can't be dark in here with you.
I'm an emotional support animal.
Yeah.
Truck looks great, Brian.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
I appreciate that.
I see you're calling in every favor you can to go over 1,000 likes on Instagram
or something like that.
I'm trying to break that pain point 1,000 Instagram.
Is that the real pain point?
Apparently, it's a thing.
I don't know.
I mean, I hear from other people that 1,000, once you get 1,000 likes,
then it's fine.
But getting that first 1,000 is painful.
As random as it is, and I don't know if it's just my affiliation with you
or with Kenny, all of a sudden people are starting to follow my raptor page.
I've gotten like 15 new follows.
And I haven't posted because I've been so busy on other things.
So, diodynamics followed me this week.
And me as well.
I don't even have their lights on my truck.
Neither do I.
You're just jealous of your lights.
Oh, I mean, great.
By the way, love the company.
It's just so, yeah.
They're catching up from the Subaru.
Yeah, right?
Somebody didn't lock the door behind them.
That would probably be me.
I can add two more signs.
Oh, okay.
Do you want me to sit down?
I'll get it.
Okay.
Has Nick steps away.
Let's talk about Nick.
Yeah, that's my bad.
Keep the riffraff out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now that Brian is captive.
Yeah, I'm not going anywhere now.
Yeah.
More bikini pics, by the way.
Lights are on Instagram.
I think that's it for you.
For anybody else.
Yeah, just me and a bikini.
That's what I need.
Yeah.
Your wife will love it.
I'm sure she will, yeah.
Your kids do it more so.
You might not get the truck involved,
but you'll get other votes.
My kids will unfollow me so fast.
I don't want to even make your heads up.
Now, I think it's, you know,
recently the Ford Raptor Nation group
that's kind of started up our last couple of months
has really gained a lot of traction.
Like, they've really been helping
with the Ranger Raptor Nation Facebook group or whatever.
Yeah.
And they've built that from,
I think in December,
it probably had like around 500, 700 followers.
Now it's, it just crested 20,000.
Oh, wow.
So it's fast growing.
And I think that you got cut up in that wave.
That's why you're starting to see that stuff.
I mean, it's great.
I, it makes me want to post more like,
and it was obviously makes me want to go out
and use my truck.
I was telling you guys,
I've been sitting in my driveway the last week.
I've been so busy,
which is a good price problem to have.
Cause then, you know,
that'll make the Raptor payment.
Right. Exactly.
Yeah.
I mean, the last time I think you drove it,
you saw my wife driving mine.
So it was like,
that was really funny because like,
I'm used to seeing you and you and I like,
we'll pass each other.
We don't really necessarily wave,
but then we,
one of us will text.
Yeah.
Always.
And I texted you right off the bat.
And I was like,
I was like,
Hey, sexy Raptor,
and you didn't have your truck.
And you were like,
Hey,
I think I was in Tuala for something.
I'm like,
what is happening right now?
I see Shauna more than I see you guys.
I think it's funny.
Like I see her all the two.
Yeah.
I see her all the time over near my,
by my house,
like all the time.
Her Bronco is hard to miss.
She's got the only cool Bronco,
the only cool white Bronco out there.
Yeah.
There's a really pretty dark red Bronco Raptor
that lives by me that I see all the time.
I like red.
Yeah.
Red.
Yeah.
So how are you?
Good man.
Good.
Another busy week.
Life.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
A bunch of stuff inside.
I've been working on.
Yeah.
Nothing exciting.
It's all home on her stuff.
Well, we're all sitting here now.
It's like the new year and I'm starting,
and I'm starting to gather all my tax information
and realizing how much money I can't spend at the store anymore
because I'm like,
how much is this is going to the government?
So.
Yeah.
More than we want.
Well,
I'm having like the same conversation I had last year,
legal conversation as far as,
you know,
with the podcast and things we do with the trucks.
Yeah.
What can you write off?
What can I mean?
Legally.
I'm not,
I'm not.
Yeah.
It's not like shooting your taxes.
Right.
She hasn't looked at me yet and said,
I don't think so.
Yeah.
No, I took my truck to a spa.
That's not,
that's not for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think for speaking,
you know,
I'm glad the Ranger,
I think he's picking up more of the Raptor,
the Ranger Raptor.
Yeah.
Seeing more of them,
seeing more of them online and they're popping up more
in my feed and I'm just seeing them up there more
in the public.
And I was thinking about something with this the other day.
I think Ford's missing an opportunity here
because they don't have a SUV.
They have the Bronco.
Don't get me wrong,
but it's a removable top and it does.
You're talking about the Everest
and it's in Thailand and we need it here.
We need it here.
They're testing them here,
but we're not getting them here.
Yeah.
Which makes no sense to me
because they should have a Ranger based SUV
to compete with the forerunner
because they should have a Raptor Ranger.
Oh, both.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm saying like,
because you have,
if you go look at the new forerunner,
I looked at the new forerunner,
not for myself,
but with friends and it's super nice.
Is it?
Yeah.
I don't think it's any nicer than a Ranger Raptor though
if you out third one into an SUV.
I bet the back seat's nicer.
Bet you can put people in the back seat.
Well, in an SUV,
you probably could move it farther back.
Very true.
Very true.
Okay.
And so,
yeah,
it seems like a really,
really big missed opportunity.
Chevy as well,
you know,
with that new Blazer that everybody loved.
I think it's dead already.
Bring back the 80s.
Only we could have seen that coming.
The 80s Blazer,
like the two-door K,
what is it?
K5 Blazer?
Oh, that's the big one.
That's the big one.
And then there was the small,
there was a little small S10.
Sorry.
Yeah, that's, yeah.
Yeah.
So the,
I mean,
Toyota's doing it and killing it.
And they have been just as long as everybody else.
And I don't know why everybody else lost their way so much
when it seems like there's a gaping hole in the market
that Toyota just owns.
I think it'll come back because everybody thought Toyota
owned the truck market,
you know,
that with the Tacoma and now with,
with our truck and then with Brian's,
you know,
the A.V. Colorado,
the A.V. Colorado.
Well,
even not even the A.V.,
just the 84X is still a really nice truck.
I think it's really good competition for them.
So hopefully they will,
you know,
with the new things that are going on in the automotive industry,
Ford and Chevy could step up.
And go,
we can make up.
Not to mention tariffs and rollback EPA emissions.
So if we can get that hole in the market,
that opens up a whole new segment of American automobiles
that would be a great selling point.
So Ford and Chevy,
I think,
I mean,
Chevy's not really doing much right besides that truck
in the Corvette these days.
So it's a good opportunity for them.
Yeah.
Um,
but
hopefully death goes away.
That could change things too.
Well,
yeah,
that's right there.
We talked about that a little bit.
I saw another article talking about the fact that they,
I heard we,
I had heard one that death was going away.
And then if it doesn't go away,
they're going to take away the limp mode so that you didn't,
if you ran out of it,
which death go away.
I was going to say it's just a chain effect.
Well,
they're not prosecuting people for desmogging their vehicles
anymore.
You can still get one for rolling coal.
Don't be wrong.
But there are shops across the country now that are
backlogged months and months and months out because
there's no longer any.
Does that make that huge lawsuit against the diesel
brothers go away?
No,
no,
no,
no,
they're still after them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, what's his name?
Who just got arrested again for tax fraud?
Oh,
he's whistling diesel,
which is just hilarious because it's such a small amount.
It's a 25,000 notes of what is it was a $25,000 on the
Ferrari and then this other one.
And after he got arrested after the first one,
he asked them if there was any problems with other cars
and they lied to him and said no.
Yeah.
It's the biggest witch hunt ever and it's that same
stupid legal group that's out of Wyoming of all
places.
I thought this was Tennessee.
This was the state.
No,
it's like it's a lawyer group.
So they're an EPA.
We've talked about this before.
There's an EPA lawyer group that gets together and then
sues people to for crazy numbers,
takes all that money for themselves and none of it
goes back into the system to actually do anything
with the environment.
And this is a proven thing.
This is just completely a scam and it's Wyoming.
So keep Wyoming lawless.
I hope they do something about it like Wyoming would
because most people need to go away.
So this is the same law group that that went after
Dave Sparks.
Yes.
Same same people.
Yeah.
So I remember to clarify.
Whistlin Diesel is a tax issue.
The state of Tennessee is going after him for tax.
That's different.
Allegedly.
Yes.
Yeah.
It's triggered by the same law group.
I understand.
Yeah.
But I'm the same thing.
They instead of instead of going after him,
they got the they got Tennessee to go after him
and then they're continuing to go after him.
And this last time apparently there was some
misuse of him and the fact that he was very
sick when they arrested him and they refused
to give him some things.
So and they also sent they sent like 10 guys to
get him as he got off the plane.
Yeah.
Don't worry folks.
We leave it to the government.
You'll be fine.
Yeah.
That's a lesson we've learned from history.
Isn't it?
Oh, no, wait.
No, it's not.
Nobody has learned that at all.
Nobody said I'm here from the government
and I'm here to help you.
Yeah.
Never of those words been ever.
No.
Yeah.
So now what do you do?
Pay your taxes people.
Pay over your taxes.
Well, I'll tell you what we did do,
but we're probably not going to do it again.
Oh boy.
Wow.
And that's a wrap of the show.
My, uh, just get air come out of here.
It's warm in here.
Yeah.
It's working good again.
Yeah.
So, uh, let's jump right into our Carter Carter automotive tip
of the week.
Um, I came across this kind of an interesting thing.
You know, uh, a gentleman in Spokane,
who's a large YouTuber is rebuilding.
He's taken a down to the shell,
like a 92 Acura NSX and he put a four cylinder
and twin custom twin turbo kit,
but he was talking about this.
He was, he's running all the electrical right now
and he came up with the term of a star point ground,
which is kind of interesting because when you're building
a car or doing this, having a short or trying to find the
loose ground is really tough.
And the point of this is where you're grounding your engine,
your battery, your ECU, all the coils are grounded
to the same point so that you know that you, you know,
if you have a bad ground,
if that's a bad ground, it's going to affect everything,
which is kind of an interesting perspective.
Yeah.
It, two sizes.
I was thinking about, I've only read up on this briefly
when we were talking about it.
One, it's a single point of failure.
Mm hmm.
So that means if your ground is bad,
if you have an accident, a simple one,
if your ground is damaged, nothing is going to work.
You could reground it.
I mean, you could move that ground to someplace else.
Just a ground is a ground.
It's just got a ground,
but it seems like you would want some things,
not all everything, some things separate.
I think maybe in a custom build,
I can see the advantage of that.
He was, we're talking the major things in the car.
Yeah.
And I do understand what you were saying,
but I liked the idea and the fact of like,
okay, something's not grounded,
but then you go to one point
and you have the major things in there
that you know are grounded to there.
And God forbid you see if something is torn
or if, you know, like you said,
in an accident, that would be a bad thing.
I was just thinking from a redundancy point of view,
but it might, you know, for something like that,
it seems pretty simple.
I like the idea of the simplicity.
I like, I mean, there's just,
it's sort of the same thing we go to on our trucks
with a bus bar or any overland build.
You have a bus bar.
Everything goes to that same point
with all your power distribution in one block.
Mm hmm.
Makes it really easy.
I mean, that's what I did on the Bronco.
Well, and they do a lot of those in the off-road vans too
because the batteries are under the seats.
Yeah.
So they put them in the engine compartment.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
I wanted to talk a little bit about that new Bugatti Veyron.
Well, it's a Bugatti.
It looks like a Veyron.
It's the underpinnings of a Chiron.
It's a homage to Ferdinand Karl Persia.
I always forget his last name.
He's the grandson of Porsche.
He ran Volkswagen and things like that.
You have heard of FPK versions before
because when Lamborghini came out with the Scion,
that luxury was an event to door with three body panels.
Oh, yeah, I remember that.
That was named after him, too.
I think this is by far the most beautiful Bugatti
they've ever released.
They modernized the Veyron.
Underpinnings are the Chiron.
Everybody knows the Chiron is the most reliable car.
The Veyron was the most pretty car.
They're only making one of them.
Somebody commissioned this for a measly 10 million euro.
But I really think it's pretty.
I forget that there is so much there.
We spend in the car world.
We have the opportunity to see these cars.
But I forget that there are people that go out in the car world
and go, I see nothing I like, make me something.
And they can write that check, especially with places like Bugatti.
And I like what Bugatti is doing lately.
I like with Remac running it and things like that and their new cars.
Obviously, never going to be in my price bracket.
But that car has unilaterally made everybody fall in love with it.
It looks like the Veyron, but it's absolutely beautiful.
It looks like an updated Veyron in all the good ways.
Yeah.
I'm kind of excited.
I would hope whoever owns it, if you've watched the commercial,
they own the original Veyron in the red and black, the classic red and black.
And there's some saying that the video that's come out,
maybe the car doesn't exist yet, but it will because it looks very AI.
Well, who knows?
Yeah.
Shocker.
I cannot believe there's an AI commercial out there.
How many times a day in your household do you and your spouses go,
look at this.
Is this real?
Like Photoshop used to be able to tell.
Like people were good at it.
But now it's like, wait a minute.
Is that puppy really driving that rally car?
Yeah.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes, it is.
If all the Subaru commercials that we watch with Golden Retrievers
haven't convinced us.
Yeah.
Come on.
There are water markings that you can't see on those videos that can be
detected by the file, but by looking at it.
Yeah.
I almost fell for it.
I really badly want a new Seahawks jersey, but I want the classic
and I want the Superbowl logo and the 50 year old.
And I saw it and I started to watch the video and then I realized
that the word Seahawks was spelled like in Russian.
It's hilarious.
Yeah.
If you look at posts that are, I mean, there's AI automation
for making posts now, which is hilarious.
And they're, what's the dead internet?
Call it.
Okay.
The dead internet theory, which is not a theory at all is that
about 85% of the internet is just bots and AI running everything
now.
Like everything you see is not even like posted by people.
It's just created.
Somebody told me AI is now out on its own Reddit chats and
they're talking about humans.
They have their own social media platform.
That's what it is.
And they're talking shit about us.
Yeah, basically.
Great.
Again, this is how Terminator starts.
Hi, StarNet.
Just give me SkyNet.
Give me SkyNet.
Yeah.
There's a lot more to it than that.
It's more of like an AI experiment to see how they will
interact.
Okay.
It's not really like they set it up on their own and did
it all.
It's not like that.
But point being.
Did they already schedule a rally?
That's what happens on Facebook I hear.
No matter what you believe in, there's a rally for that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm sure they'll have their own month.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
AI month.
Yeah.
My extension is aware of it.
August will be AI month.
AI month.
Wow.
Yeah.
Okay.
Did you say we have a voicemail?
We do.
We do.
Somebody left us a voicemail.
Somebody left us a voicemail.
They didn't leave their name.
They didn't leave their name.
Insert name here.
Yeah.
It's about K-Trucks though.
And we love getting voicemails.
And if you leave your name and tell me not to
play it, I won't play it.
But if you don't leave your name, I'm just going to
play it because I'm going to know who you are anyway.
So, here we go.
Let's take a listen.
Long time listening here, you mentioned something about
K-Trucks on the most recent podcast.
You're standing here for like $90,000 to $10,000.
I would highly recommend importing your own.
There's a lot of people you can work with.
I've gotten a few over a year for about $4,500 bucks.
Highly would recommend that.
Nick had mentioned he wanted a high boost at swap one.
I did that myself.
Not with a high boost engine, but with a ZX-11
force cylinder for a motorcycle.
That was great.
Made it a lot more fun.
Harder to find reverse though.
But that makes it an absolutely durable vehicle.
Lost my train of thought there.
That happens when you call them.
Yeah.
Pacific Coast Auto in Japan is a good place to go through.
It's on brokerage in Tacoma.
It makes all the paperwork easy.
Yeah.
What's going to have lost my train of thought?
Never called in anything.
Please don't play this on there.
Please don't play this on there.
Too bad.
Well, we don't know who you are.
So, we appreciate your voicemail.
That was actually really helpful.
So, Pacific Coast Auto in Japan is the conduct in
Japan that he's gone through.
Sound brokerage in Tacoma.
So, hey, you got two drops.
You got somebody who's done a motorcycle swap.
Well, here's what I'm thinking the whole thing.
And obviously, ADHD took over.
He goes, because I'm like, I can get one for 9,000.
He's like, I can get one for 4500.
I'm thinking, well, I can get two.
This is a bidding.
This turns into a bidding war.
Now it sounds like two.
I'm like, I love it.
Yeah.
And I totally did not think of that.
And it seems totally obvious.
Reverse.
Yeah.
There's no reverse.
Wow.
That means you need a GL-1800 swap out of a
and then you can supercharge it.
Whoa.
Which has reverse.
I mean, isn't it going bigger than a K truck?
They weigh about the same.
They weigh about the same, yeah.
Yeah.
But that flat six would probably,
would probably mount in there even easier.
Yeah.
Because it's a flat engine.
You don't have the,
you don't have the horizontal vertical problem.
You just have a very compact, low to the ground engine.
This has been a very expensive week in our group chat
because at the beginning of the week,
you know, Brian brought,
bought all those cars from search and rescue.
Yeah.
Which made all of us start thinking, well, God,
I need an off-road beater.
But now I'm like, okay, I want a new bike.
I want a new big bike.
And I know exactly what you were going to tell me last time too.
I want a K truck.
Yeah.
I actually wasn't what I was going to tell you.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
I thought there was one other one.
So I want an off-road beater now because I mean,
I want something that I can drive past a tree on,
you know, Natchez and I don't have to worry about it.
Like this.
You don't have to buff the paint off of your butt.
Your bed, you mean?
K truck.
And then I want a bike.
So yeah.
So Kelly's selling that it's an 09 WR 450,
which is still carbureted, which is fine.
If you've ever had a carbureted bike, no big deal.
But electric start.
So plus a kick back up, 60 miles.
Has 60 miles on it.
Has he owned it since new?
No, no, no.
A guy, a guy he knows was selling it.
And Kelly's like, I'll take it and ride it
and do something with it.
But I think it's perfect.
It's plated, ready to go.
So that's a great option.
And he's, I don't know what he's selling it for,
but it's an 09.
So it's not going to be that expensive.
The other option is the guy I sold my 02.
Came back and he's thinking,
he's like, I just don't ride it enough.
And I'm like, let me know,
because I'll probably buy it back from you
for a lot less than I sold it to you for.
Because it's been a few years now and it's a 2020,
but he's like barely ridden it.
And that bike is perfect.
It is.
And it has the recluse clutch on it.
It has a recluse clutch.
Recluse, sorry.
Yeah, it's revolved.
It's lowered about two inches.
But for what I do, what we do, it doesn't matter.
Like I'm not sure.
Well, even if you are a, it's,
I'm not doing as much tight enduro race type
single track anymore.
And I don't really have a desire to,
because it just hurts a lot more when I crash.
I want to do more of the exploring stuff.
So I'll stick to the groomed trails and things that are
BDRs and that kind of stuff.
Well, not BDRs per se.
BDSM.
Yeah, that too.
Sorry.
Different outfit, but yeah.
Same outcome.
Same bruises.
Same nicks.
Leather and chains.
Leather and chains.
Anyway.
Yeah.
No, I wanted to just, I like just the exploring stuff.
Mark trails.
I'll do the, you know, fives and sixes,
but I'm not going to do the hill climb enduro stuff
like I used to anymore.
But that was the conversation I'm having in my head.
I'm like, I want it again.
But then again, the reason I got rid of it was
because I wasn't riding it.
Yeah.
And I'm looking at it now going, okay,
but if I get it again, is it going to just sit in the,
you know.
So here's the thing.
I barely ride the monkey and the grommets.
Oh, they're never leaving.
They're never leaving.
Exactly.
And I'm like, if I'm at the same price point for a fully built bike.
Yeah.
Like this isn't.
Or a K truck now.
Yeah.
In addition to.
Yeah.
So eventually what's going to happen is motorcycles.
If you follow the trends, this isn't me like just speculating.
If you just follow the trends of the market,
bicycles get the really cool trick shit first.
Yeah.
They had the light aluminum frames first,
then the motorcycles did.
Now they have carbon frames and titanium bikes are going
to go the same way because the price for to build carbon
is coming way, way down.
Until they start making carbon fiber frame motorcycles,
or fully carbon fiber.
A lot of bikes have carbon fiber and fiber awesome fuse.
Yeah.
Swing arms, tails, rear subframes, but they're going to go that
way.
And eventually bikes will lose another 40 pounds because of
that.
But until that comes along, there really hasn't been a
lot of innovations since haunted the aluminum frame.
Like other than that, and then they switched to fuel
injection.
Like, okay.
God bless them.
Yeah.
Big freaking deal though.
Like as far as riding goes, I mean.
For our riding.
I'm not saying for you race guys are screaming at me.
You guys are a different animal.
You guys need all the technology, trash control,
ABS, all that.
For those of us who are old and slow, it's totally fine
to have those older bikes.
They work great.
Very old.
They're easy to work on.
They're easy to work on.
And if you ride with somebody like Brandon Elan,
you can throw him on a 30 year old bike and he
will smoke me any day of the week, no matter
what bike I'm on.
You'll also smoke your engine cover.
True.
But I'm just saying I'm very well aware that we
have all come to the point where skill is our
biggest blocker, not the bike.
And so I don't need to go buy a $20,000 new
bike.
I can be completely happy if I can get my old
bike back for 6,500 bucks and never sell it
until a carbon frame comes out where I would
see a huge advantage or electric bikes get so
light that I would want one of those instead,
which are great by the way.
It would be great.
I take a stark, a stark far.
Oh hell yeah.
I think another issue I was thinking about
and obviously I have to run this by other
people.
They'll agree with it.
But when I had the CRF, it was a bitch to ride
on the road.
It sucked.
Going places there sucked.
Once I got there and got on the dirt, it was
great.
I didn't have the truck at the time.
Yeah.
Now that I have the truck, I can take it
wherever the hell I want to take it and
then drop it off.
I rode that bike one time notoriously from
here all the way down.
I went through green water and I went over
a stampede and came back.
And the most monotonous thing I've ever
done was get on I-90 and come down the
pass on that bike.
Really?
I got to the point where every exit I
would get off and I'd take along as
much as I could.
Because that bike doesn't, even with my
weight, barely would do 65, 70.
And it was not fun to sit on because
that bike is meant to be ridden standing
up and be aware.
Built for a ton of mid-range, low
speed torque.
And it just was not a...
I got home and I was like,
okay, let me put this back.
I got to the mountainside tavern and
I was like, I'm sitting here for a
couple of hours because I'm...
I was three miles from the house.
That's how bad it was.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I guess the general consensus is
eventually we're all going to get big
bikes again.
Yeah, probably.
Okay, fair enough.
You need to get a monkey first too.
I know.
Yeah.
It doesn't really need to though.
We keep telling our friends this.
That's a good point.
You can just start playing a monkey.
Okay, I'm going to come and grab
your bike.
Cool.
I don't...
I'm thinking about...
And I'm putting this idea out there
to those of us that have these.
I'm thinking about doing a big
ride with the monkeys this year.
We'd be on the road, but I'm
going to do a big time ride.
I still want to do the ferry thing
where we go get in the ferry
and go out and ride one of the
islands.
I think that'd be kind of fun.
Like Dubay and Bridge or something?
Yeah.
Basically, yeah.
You can do a big ride up to
Victoria.
Oh yeah.
It would be fun too.
Because then you've got a lot
lower speed to deal with.
Yeah.
And a lot...
A ton of road.
Well, you could take Highway 9
all the way up.
Yeah, that'd be kind of fun.
I want to do a big ride this
year on the road.
I think that'd be kind of fun.
Okay.
I like that.
I just want my tires.
Yeah.
So get on that.
I'm going to go with the...
I'm on that.
I'm not putting the old tires
back on.
No way.
Well, yeah.
The Michelins.
I guess mine would be out of
date.
You're probably right.
It's not even that.
They're just awful.
Maybe you ride like a Michelin
city tire.
Yeah.
They're so much better.
Or if you're just fair
weather, just go almost to a
full race tire.
I still need to...
Maybe when you and I have our
Valentine's Day date week, I
still got to figure out my
shifting.
Yeah.
It's not...
I've taken it apart yet again.
I rebuilt the whole clutch
again.
I soaked it for...
I soaked the plates for a week.
I've done everything and I've
still got a real hard shift.
Okay.
And I, 90, want $200 an hour
to look at it.
Yeah.
I trust them, but I'm just...
Oh, yeah, yeah.
They'll do the work.
In fact, I called them and
this is not a plug for them
and I asked them because I
was like, maybe it would just
be easier to drop it off
than I don't have to deal
with it.
And he's like, don't get me
wrong.
He's like, it's a grom.
He's like, we will find it
within an hour.
Because most likely it's
unless you screwed up the
transmission, it'll be a
pretty easy fix.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, they did good work.
I wasn't saying they were too
much.
He goes, also, we're a snow
mobile shop right now and
there's no snow.
So I've got openings.
Sorry, guys.
I do feel for you because
it's good times, fun, but
man, what a terrible, lousy
winner for everybody.
Unless you're in Tennessee.
Well, there's that.
Yeah.
Some of those people
haven't had power in two
weeks.
So we have another follow-up
as well.
We got another text message
actually.
One message.
One message.
One message.
One message.
One message.
One message actually.
One message.
Always good to hear from you,
one.
We asked, we posed a question
to the audience.
Was it the last episode?
Maybe the one before that.
I can't remember.
But what's a vehicle out
there that really just needs
one change and you're like,
it's perfect.
Yeah, it was the last
episode.
Thank you.
At least one of us.
Yeah.
Well, let's do it three
times.
Yeah.
I think I'd remember.
Yeah.
And he had an excellent
suggestion.
I think this is the
perfect answer.
The Lexus RCF.
I would also add the
what would you do to it?
A manual transmission.
Oh, yes.
Okay.
Yeah.
A rev matching manual
transmission because it's a
V8.
It's a rear wheel drive.
Like no, if you put a manual
transmission in an LC of the
RCF, obviously being the more
sportier model, slightly lighter
weight, but what a great,
like legendary car that would
be.
Yeah.
And I bet I hope somebody
does it.
It shouldn't be that
difficult.
I would think modifying
inside dash would be harder
than anything else.
Yeah.
Like just finding a place to
put the stick through.
Yeah.
I mean, it's still, if you look
at the interior of that car,
I don't know.
It does have a dial, doesn't
it?
Yeah.
Ew.
That's my point.
Like I think that would be
the hardest thing is
re-engineering the dash
and then cutting the,
obviously has a tunnel.
I actually don't think it
would be that hard with 3D
printing.
Maybe not.
I mean, you would 3D print
the center console to
make it look nice.
And then you'd have somebody
like any interior shop,
but what's our friends
of North?
Who did your monkey seat?
North was crafted.
Yeah.
Have somebody like them
do like a full, perfect
interior match on the leather
because they could.
And you'd have a shift boot
that matched perfectly
and the rest would just be
printing from the right
material and paint.
Yeah.
Mounting that third pedal
but other than that.
Simple.
Third pedal.
Hard, yes.
Yes.
Impossible, no.
No, okay.
You're true.
And I think as time goes on
but I agree.
That's a perfect answer.
Be good.
It's basically any front engine
and rear-wheel-drive car
without a manual transmission.
But that one in particular
because then you have that
legendary Toyota V8
which is bullet-proof
and great car.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What about you, Brian?
Yeah, what do you want
to be when you grow up?
Yeah.
I want to be a fireman.
What kind of car do you want
a molest when you grow up?
Cool.
Wow.
That's an open-ended
question.
LFA is still right there.
Gosh, I don't know.
I honestly don't know.
It's kind of...
Yeah.
I mean,
my exposure in the auto world
was working for many
for a few years in BMW.
Yeah.
And seeing that side of it
and it's...
I mean, I was remembering
your chats about the M2 last week
and just how great of a car that is
and many invited us,
a select few of us
geniuses to go over to Germany
to drive over there
and we drove M2s
for a day at their track.
At the, you know,
a former airport,
you know, from World War II.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
Wherever that is, I can't remember
what part of that is.
But that car,
that is an amazing car.
I mean, that is a sleeper car
that's just still manual,
still fun, still like...
Great car.
Great car.
Really great car, you know.
Yeah.
But if I had to molest
something, it would be that...
I don't know,
that what we're talking about,
the AV Super Duty thing there.
Oh, yeah.
That would be...
I think I would just
like put a kitchen in there
and live in there.
Yeah.
It's funny you bring that up.
I was watching a snippet
that came up on Instagram
and it was a shop down in Arizona
or something like that
and they had made a pre-runner
out of your GMC truck.
That would be that hard.
Carly's suspension is that.
No, that's not the truck
to make a pre-runner out of.
Like, my point...
9,000 pounds is too heavy for a pre-runner.
The customer came in
and he wanted us to turn us into a pre-runner
and I'm thinking,
if you're at that price bracket
and want to make a pre-runner,
like, obviously, you know,
this show preaches Raptor,
we always have.
But I mean,
Tacoma, Ranger,
F-150, but not a GMC
AEV.
I mean, they left the AEV shit on it.
Yeah.
I mean,
the suspension...
The suspension required to do that
is $36,000.
I looked into it.
Which is why I never did a super-duty
with like a...
When I was...
When I bought the GMC,
it was a...
I was not going to modify it.
The suspension.
It was just like,
it's just way too expensive.
It wasn't that I didn't want to.
Yeah.
But it was like,
to get this thing to ride like I want?
No, not even an option.
Well, I just...
I instantly flashed back
to Brian losing a filling
on the back roads,
trying to pre-run that truck.
Brian did not jump as well
as it should have.
Just saying.
It really didn't climb waterfalls,
either.
No.
That was me.
In the middle of Moab, somewhere.
What, his filling?
Well,
I think you heard that, sir.
When we first down there,
he was like,
he's like,
we're going to go the back way
on the dirt roads.
We're going to go all the way
to Colorado.
Oh, yeah.
I mean,
I think we started at kind
of Onion Creek
and then we worked our way
out.
That was the point where like,
we were like, everybody's done.
And Dan,
as we started to head back,
which was a long ways back,
was going faster and faster
and faster.
And that truck in the back
is not real comfortable.
The seats don't, you know,
and we get back to Colorado.
Seats are wrapped
are way back.
Brian goes,
I lost a filling.
Like,
it had rattled so bad,
he lost a filling.
Unbelievable.
Like the truck is great.
It will pull.
I mean,
and when we were going slow,
we were getting thrown
as things agitated.
And we were ready to be back
on pavement.
And I was going faster
and faster.
Yeah.
It just was not the truck.
And then somebody's like,
oh, I made a pre-run around.
I was like, I don't care what's
suspension was in that truck.
That would still be miserable.
Yeah.
I wrapped her at my GMC
and it did not wrap her.
No.
Unless you rip out the back seat
and then put in like,
you know,
two, you know,
massive seats with buckets.
Yeah.
Then you're fine.
That float.
Yeah.
We'll see if the
seats.
Yeah.
Did you see that truck?
Yeah.
That is just.
Yeah.
And it keeps popping up too.
And my buddy Adam from Trail Racks
keeps sending it to me.
Mm-hmm.
Because he's got a heart,
you know,
he has a,
mm-hmm,
four or two,
right?
And so it's such a beautifully built
truck.
Like it's one of those
aha moment trucks
where you just look at
and you go,
why didn't I think of
doing that?
And it's so much smarter
for Ford not to be involved
in that build,
that it's all a post build
because Ford notoriously
just cuts corners
and everywhere they can
with all kinds of cool stuff, right?
Like they're interiors.
Yeah.
And there were car seats.
Yeah.
All those kinds of things.
Yeah.
Don't get me started with
the whole seat thing.
We're back at it, yeah.
The seat gate is too far.
It's 2026.
2026 now.
Yeah.
People who don't know.
Yeah.
The Riccaro went downhill
after they went bankrupt.
And they became
kind of like the,
the seats you buy
for,
like a race car.
I mean,
you go buy a Riccaro seat
off the showroom floor
and you put in your car
what we're talking about.
We're talking about Riccaro seats
that are in production cars.
And airplanes.
And airplanes.
And airplanes, yeah.
Well, I'm talking about the ones
in cars though because
they just, they don't have
the same quality control.
It's like when you allow
AEV parts to be put
on your GMC
instead of taking your GMC
to AEV.
Same thing happens.
You get a bunch of cut corners
and people who don't know
how to install seats
at the same level
that Riccaro would
from the factory.
And so you're just
living off your name.
I got a lot of shit
for this before.
I'm still right.
Screw you guys.
Riccaro sucked
the Dan isn't.
I got shit before.
I'm still right.
Yeah.
Yeah, you can not like
hearing all you want.
But Riccaro is the,
they're not talking about
their seats that you buy
if there's one floor
for your race car.
Those are great stuff.
But the stuff
in our trucks
and other production vehicles
is much,
much lower quality.
And it shows
and this is now
really showing
because it's in a
mass, mass production vehicle
compared to what,
you know,
Riccaro sells
probably what?
Literally probably
20, 30,000 seats
a year off their showroom
floor that you would bolt
in a vehicle at most.
Well, they probably
make that many Ranger
Raptors in a year.
Yeah.
So you've got just
so the quality has
just gone downhill
and it shows
and it's a notorious
problem in Fords
because they're Fords.
Right.
You know,
we are aware of the
vehicles we own.
Yeah.
Anyway,
I was going to say
did you hear the
good news from Toyota though?
Good news, everyone.
Good news, everyone.
That rumor
that they
screwed with everybody
and gave us that
two-seater K truck
production vehicle.
Well, they have
registered officially
the GR MR2.
Oh,
oh,
really?
Which means there
is an engine.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's what it's
yeah.
That's what MR stands
for.
Yeah.
It's not
MR.
Yeah,
stands for mid
something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You two people
had had a green one
like back when
they first
first first release
and then they
had a midship
runabout two-seater.
Oh,
midship runabout.
Okay.
I did not know that.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
So yeah.
So there's
supposedly there's
a bunch of
Toyota
patented a bunch of
GR name plates
for the MR2.
Which would seem
odd to do
if they're not
producing an MR2.
So here's to hoping
that the MR2
comes back
because that would be
that would be cool.
Somebody at the
table.
Yeah.
That's right.
Okay,
Porsche.
Yeah.
Calm down.
Thank you.
It's a
turbo.
It's an electric car.
Yeah.
MR2
Turbo.
That's
hybrid.
MR2
Turbo.
Yeah.
So you're
you're back on the
show scene now,
right?
Yeah.
Things are starting
with all those
snowmobilers.
No.
These are
and Overland shows
are all starting now
this quarter.
So,
yeah,
gearing up.
I've already done
a couple already this
so far.
And then I've got more
coming this month
and also a few
in March.
I'm
I'm doing my best.
I've put it on the
calendar.
I want to be at the
Northwest Overland
rally.
Me too.
I think you really
should.
It's not a far
drive.
I at least want to
just go for the day
if I
can.
It's all well
drive.
Shawn,
I'm borrowing the car.
What?
Nothing.
Yeah.
I've done it a
couple of times.
It's
it's really
it's it's so different
than any other event
that goes along
for Overland
because it's
you're kind of
you know everybody
camps there
or even the sponsors
and the vendors
all camp in the same
area.
It's much smaller
than an Overland
Expo
and every night
they do a big
family oriented
kind of
an event.
And
super chill like
playing is nothing.
Yeah.
It's playing
like literally
there's one store
a little west of
Leavenworth right
like a little
Northwest of Leavenworth
yeah and hopefully
Highway 2 will
be open by then.
Yeah.
I think I know
it's open.
Did they fix it already?
I don't know if
it's fixed but
it's back open.
Oh good.
Yeah.
That section of
you know that
the section you're
like normally
what I do is stay
somewhere on
blue it you know
there's lots of areas
there's lots of
dispersed camping stuff
off of blue it
you just I just stay
there going to Leavenworth
and then go up to
playing the next morning
Oh that's a fun idea
we should do that
we really should
like I think it'd be
kind of I've missed it
they canceled it
last year right
they did cancel it
last year because
they had some insurance
issues
and all surrounding
this bonfire
that was why
they canceled it
last year
because they
had specific areas
all in BLM landed
they were freaking out
the insurance company
was freaking out
about the fire
and generally because
there that's ridiculous
yeah it's overlanders
they all have
the little fold out
fireplaces it's fine
yeah exactly
so it
it kind of freaked
out the insurance
company to cancel it
and they decided
to just regroup
for this year
and they've
already started
promoting it
way early
you know
and then they do
another event
up in BC
too so
and rode it
you know
ride the roads down
I have an idea
what we can take
okay
oh here we go
you don't know about that
yet I'll tell you after
alright
oh yeah
yeah
we have announcements coming
yeah that's
probably two to three
two months out
but yeah we have announcements
yeah
we like announcements
there's always
things happening
but yeah
okay well I want to do
that
but so
spot obviously
yeah
I'm gonna go with that
I don't remember
spot
yeah I had a lead in
but I don't remember
yeah that's okay
what's the latest
and greatest spot
it's coming
no
not to
super tease it
but there is something
coming
yeah
our competitors
have already
released their
you know
new thing
new new thing
we've been
working on
just for a few years
spot is a portable
satellite messaging
device
thank you
yeah
exactly
satellite
satellite network
that the iphones use
the global star network
and
yeah we just
been
we just been having
our heads down
good for you
that means the product
will be good when it comes out
yeah
nice
that's good
and everything else is good
family's good
yeah
trucks good
you know
spending too much time
I'll be spending a lot of time
in it in the next couple of months
so I'm
are you gonna take it with you
yeah
you remember when you bought it
and we were sitting
in the mod parking lot
and you're like
let me to drive this places
and then you modified it
and you made it
like the most ultimate
like rig on the road
and it's like
it's going everywhere
yeah and I have to
yeah and I just rolled
20,000
or just crested
20,000 just recently
so
I know you gotta catch up
you're a few thousand
behind
I think the Broncos got on it
I mean
compared to what
Ford keeps telling me
I should have on them
I should have close to
22,000
and I think I have 16
yeah do you have it
on your Ford app
yeah I was just gonna say
we've got
quite a few on both
where's it at on the app
I can't remember
you go into the
little wrenches in the bottom
oh yeah
that's right
16,825 on the F-150
okay
16,400
yeah you're just a few hundred
miles behind
yeah
and Brian's got
on the Raptor
is that over 20,000
20,317
that's awesome
oh let's see what I have
I think I'm at
20,000
she blames the fact
that she loves to
drive it
so she drives
all the time everywhere
20,984
so we're right there
right there together
awesome
yeah
I think the R8's got
13 on it now
really
what year is the R8?
2021
and she bought it with
800 on it
okay
wow
yeah
that only had
800 miles
yeah
wow
I think we put
20,500 on it
just while we were in
Utah
okay
as we drove it
oh this last trip
yeah
and I think we drove it
around the state
four times basically
we went through Zion
like seven times
and then
yeah
every back road
you can think of
but Monument Valley
everywhere but I mean
most of our trips
we went on a road trip
almost every weekend
and we took the R8
I think all but once
yeah
yeah
I'm glad that you
took the picture
on the iconic
forest gump
road
was it a video?
no I haven't seen
the video
oh yeah
I got a good video
of launch mode right
perfect
yeah that's just perfect
yeah
what time of day was that
did you end up doing that
seven in the morning
okay
yeah
that place it was
you know the holidays
and it was glad we did
because I think around
nine o'clock
when we left the area
it was packed
like sides of the road
like you wouldn't believe
how busy that place is
and the weird thing is
is in the middle of
nowhere
there's no
there's nothing close
to Monument Valley
you're in the middle
of Navajo land
and like there's
one city there
and the next one north
of Monument Valley
after Moab
that day
like when I left
and was headed to Flagstaff
but man you
if you remember
how windy it was blowing
in Moab that day
I was like
I'm not going to spend
the night out in this
wind it was
blowing so damn hard
that day
yeah
so I had to abort
yep
Moab garage
code just opened
back up for the season
they you know
they close with the
winter down there
so but yeah
you've got
birdie
breadboards
again
I was about this close
to going down for raptors
on the rocks
I just don't think
I can make that happen
like
but
we're really glad you had
all that armor if you did
yeah
I've seen those guys run
they do not run easy
down there
yeah
well you can choose
what you want
and now Kenny lives down
there so it's like
he's in Arizona now
isn't he
well he's not very far
he's closer than here
he was driving from Texas
yeah
he's slightly south
of Flagstaff
oh that's not far
at all then
you know that
like I bought a raptor
because of Kenny
yeah
I mean
I bought a Ranger raptor
because of Kenny
Kenny has done
offended
yeah
Kenny has
definitely influenced
a lot of people to do
a lot of things
especially some crazy stuff
if you don't know
he's freedom chariot
on Instagram
and he's
Mr
yeah
Mr. Raptor
yeah
anybody uses his raptor
it's Kenny
that's actually
one of my favorite photos
we ever had
was before we did
it was you, me, and Brandon
and Powell were up on that thing
and Kenny parked his
F-150 with
like the American flag
on the front
like right behind this
great photo
Kenny was one of the first
to send it
hardcore in that puddle
out at the off-road course
similar to how Garth did it
in his
you know almost hyperlocked
or hydrolocked his motor
but Kenny bent the frame
on his gen 2
that day
oh jeez
doing that jump
yeah and that was
actually the photo shoot
that was the advanced photo
shoot out there
where we had a couple
you remember that?
yeah we had Andy from Raptor
yeah
and so he jumped
I mean he sent it hard
in that puddle
yeah
and he bent the frame that day
jeez
yeah
yeah but again
he bent the frame on a raptor
which is
it's bragging right
no matter what
a lot of people do
it's like a scar
like here you go
look I got this one here
from when I got
whatever
so every time we do
a dirt fish off-road day
like that should be
an advertisement for STEC
because
oh yeah
the cars that have
don't
nothing is more obvious
than after a dirt fish off-road
day
and the cars that have
that don't
I don't think I've ever said
there with my job
to the ground more than
when we did that photo shoot
with the F-150s out
there
and David was out there
with his
and they were jumping them
in the middle of that
that bark in the middle
yeah
that was a great shoot
you know what
it's not
what you see on the outside
it's what happens
afterwards
it's all the bark
and where it goes
because
you smell like a campfire
when you get home
and the stuff is sitting
on your muffler
it's sitting on your intakes
it's sitting everywhere
that you want
and Garf learned
that one the hard way
yeah
he's like
oh he had to drop
those skid plates
he had to drop everything
because
I had
I learned the hard way too
with my Gen 1
where I went out there
and sent it a few times
through that puddle
and then I was like
what is that smell
like
and fortunately for me
while working a dirt fish
I had a lift
an outdoor lift
with
you know
pressure washer
one
it's not as hard
to drop your skid plates
as you think
two
always check
the bolts underneath things
I got under the raptor
this week
and redid the bolts
on the side steps
they were rather loose
yeah
are you painting those
no
they're powder coated
the black
no no no
are you painting the nuts
or the bolts
so that you know
if they move
oh paint pen
no I haven't
but that's a good idea
some of them
were like
literally sandwiching
the frame
and you can use it
I didn't think about that
well
part of it was
when you were gone
he loaned me his under
under
what is it
the under wash
under wash thing
and I literally
jacked the damn thing
up in the driveway
and like
cleaned everything
I mean
there was so much
bo-abs still in there
it's not funny
it still dribbles out
the door frame
when I watch it
every time
yeah
and I was only there
for a day
makes me grin though
yeah
it does
yeah
I was going to say
you should drop
not just in your off-road vehicle
when they did
the front bumper on this
and put in the light bar
yeah
the amount of bugs
they said
they pulled out a bucket
of bugs
because
a bucket of bugs
yeah a bucket of bugs
we drive so remote
and almost all those
back roads
we've driven that thing
through locus fields
literally
you are a
bug mass murderer
oh yeah
I mean
the front of that
corvette on the drive down
to was red
it was funny
yeah
Starship troopers
ever comes around
they're coming for me
it's going to be my fault
the locus are going to start
here
at Dan's house
it's like fallout
when those giant cockroaches
just see Dan fly away
I did
I did
and I have a lot of questions
because
I've never played the game
I haven't either
oh yeah
I have a lot of
the new California Republic Ranger
at the end
yeah
everything
that's straight out of fallout
like that scene
is a perfect fallout
it's fantastic
I am so in love with that series
me too
I know this is not car related
but like
me too
as somebody who's not a big
video gamer to be
that into it
was just
oh it's fantastic
it's one of the few times
they have gone
I think it's
okay
it is the only time
in my entire life
they have created a new
storyline
and not just screwed it up
entirely
yeah
like halo
like
I wanted halo
double dragon
I wanted halo
mario brothers
they all just suck
can I just say
it's fantastic
it's just
yeah
when he was
unjustified
and everything else
he's done
it's just been
yeah
they've done
a perfect job with all the
fan service
if you're a gamer
the fan service
in fallout is just
incredible
the set design
should have
every award
under the sun
literally
that is the best
set design
I've seen
side by side
to the game
and things like that
but I just
yeah
I guess the one thing is
the
what we're watching
doesn't follow the game
no
no
it's its own storyline
but there's like
every remnant of the game
and they've
apparently it's all the little stuff
like
yeah
it's not canon
which is fine
it doesn't need to be
when you do it that well
because if they did
it would be
it would actually be
kind of
boring
it would just be
they would never finish it
fallout 4
has like
6, 7 different endings
picking which one
no
for post show
kind of recaps
it's new rock stars
if you've ever watched
those guys before
and they
specifically are good
about
pulling out stuff from
like the last of us
or
or fallout
or even
you know some of the
HBO stuff like
you know the remakes of
the
you know Game of Thrones
the latest Game of Thrones
thing that's
come out too
I'll look it up
yeah
um
slightly off topic
but important
all the same
you just talked about fallout
yeah I know
we're gonna stay off topic
people not following
but if you are
a
just
right tool for the job
spec nerd like me
who believes there's
certain things are worth it
Linus Tech Tips just came out
with his own USB-C cables
they sold out immediately
but they are
his stuff is amazing
yeah his
I have his screwdriver
which
worth
every penny
the single best screwdriver
I've ever had in my life
if you want to see it
put your hands on it
it lives up to all the hype
Project Farm tested it as well
best screwdriver ever made
like there's just no question
you got the details
nothing are crazy
finally a USB-C cable
that is
means all the data
transfer speeds
flexibility
warranty
like
the problem with
USB-C cables
USB cables into cables
not just USB-C cables
any kind of
stupid cable out there
is if you test one
then you test another one
you get different results
and
especially for those of us
using carplay
which is what I'm bringing this up for
if you're using a wired
carplay system
your cables wear out
the sockets wear out
they
they work for a while
then they like
apples ones and
torus they break by the plug
like they thought of everything
so if you're looking for a
high quality cable
that you buy once
cry once
I think it's like
the short ones are about 20 bucks
and if you're looking at
Amazon they're like 7
there's a huge difference
though in cables
this is the one
that's the way to go
but you'll buy 4 of the
Amazon ones for
for one of these
yeah and so it's like
if you want
and it's got
really fast data
transfer speeds
so if you have
a camera
if you're using
large data for like
camera work like that
or you just want
a really good USB-C cable
either way
I'm going to put one in every car
I need one because
I'm because
of that Starlink issue
with my truck
so yeah
what's your issue with that
you can't
if you if you have
wireless carplay
you can't
you can't switch to the
Starlink
so the phone has to be
plugged in
so you have to be
physically plugged in
to use the carplay
and then you can use
the Wi-Fi from Starlink
because the
it works on the
one
if you're looking for one cable
that's why I was looking
for the phone holder
yeah so
what your issue
with the phone holder
was it was too high
it's too high up there
so the only
remedy I could think of
to do that is to
raise your seat
or get a booster seat
for you
there's a little pad
over there
you can have it
it's the fact
it's purple
it's really nice
I love
Tacform
I love everything about it
it's just
when I sat it in there
and I moved it all around
and even when
I have
when I'm off-road
that is too high for you
because it's
it blocks
it blocks
a part of
the windshield
that I didn't think
I needed to see
and it kind of
there's a little bit
of me that freaks me out
about that
so I just don't like that
is that an iPad mini
that you got
so why can't you
arm it off
so that it covers
more of that
right hand
first vent
but my point is
I just really wanted
to try it
before I bought it
I'm going to
I'm going to experiment
with a few things
but moving the
two different arms
you can try too
yeah it's just
like I said
he loaned me
and I took the arm
off of the
my mag
mount for the mic
and I moved it
all around
I did all kinds of stuff
also the problem
was I didn't have
an extra ball
so I was kind of
I know
I have a whole bag
a whole bag of balls
it's good for you
yeah
never know when
you spare
flashlight
yeah
pretty much
safe word
safe word
yeah I have
a whole bunch of that stuff
you can try
you know literally
do I need to come
and bring you that
Ziploc
so you can just try it
I just got
I got to think about it
and it was one of those
things where
like I had 10 minutes
and I tried it
and I was like
that annoys me
and I need to walk away
from this for a minute
and then I'll figure it out
we do it for Valentine's
Day
absolutely
so I hear you guys
are having a Valentine's
Day
apparently
his girlfriend
and my wife
they're going to
different places
yeah
yeah
he goes
you're going to take Lola
everywhere
and I was like
oh I was like
no the hotel that Dan and I booked
doesn't take dogs
and she goes
what
nothing
nothing
nothing
nothing
nothing
so
yeah I know
we'll figure something out
you guys are welcome to come
to Portland
hang out with me
oh gee
yeah
let me think
I drive into
Portland
with a giant
jacked up truck
I'm an ice agent
yeah
no thanks
put on a mask and wave
yeah
no thanks
I got enough dents in my truck
yeah
okay
alright
we want insight violence
we'll have dinner
we'll have dinner
yeah
I'm so sad you guys
I'm going to miss your date
that's okay
we don't know what it is yet
we'll figure it out
we'll fix something
there's so much hype behind it
there's so much
oh god
there's so much hype behind it
now so
safe word
Google can turn on it
Google can turn on anything

About this episode
The hosts dive into the growing popularity of the Ford Ranger Raptor and discuss the missed opportunity Ford has in not offering a Ranger-based SUV to compete with models like the Toyota 4Runner. They touch on the evolving truck market, legal issues surrounding diesel modifications, and the challenges of EPA regulations. The conversation also covers community growth on social media, personal anecdotes about their vehicles, and a technical tip about star point grounding in custom car builds, highlighting the balance between electrical reliability and potential single points of failure.
On this episode we respond to a helpful listener voicemail, a great suggestion from Juan on the one car that just needs one change, and Brian Dallas swings by to talk about the Ford seat issues that plague their vehicles equipped with Recaros.
