Welcome to the Carpool podcast with Kelly.
And there's just some days where it's like,
I wish someone in this house would give a rip
that I browned the butter and like, you know,
julienne the basil and like did things like that.
Just like when someone to care.
And Liz.
Let's put up our Christmas decorations later.
And then we're not like,
January 8th doesn't roll around
where like get these freaking Christmas decorations down.
Your mom time off starts now.
Welcome back to the Carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz.
And Liz has a hat headphone combo going on.
Headphones over the hat.
Tell us what's going on here.
It's the only way.
I mean, I couldn't wear them under my hat.
Yeah.
If you have like little buds in like you have,
I'm saying you have a full,
you have a full headset or a podcaster.
Yeah. Where's my headphones?
Still don't have them.
Would love to hear myself talk.
Well, I did something crazy this weekend
and I chopped my hair.
I went Bob, I went lob.
I went long Bob.
Long Bob.
And I'm obsessed with it.
But here's the thing.
After you get a haircut,
especially a dramatic one like I did,
it's always scary showering
after they've like done the perfect blowout.
And I think you owe it to yourself
to let your hair dry naturally.
Like I couldn't throw my air wrap on it.
Like I had to see kind of what I'm working with.
In the raw.
You need to get a base level.
Totally.
And so that's what I did.
And I'll be honest, it's not great.
Unstyled.
My hair wasn't, but it wasn't,
I always threw it up on a button.
So I'm trying to wear it down.
So I put a hat on and like with a hat,
it's really cute.
Like let me show you.
Let me show you.
Like she just took her hat off.
It's giving me a new color.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now I've had hair.
It's not great, but now I put the hat on and.
It's good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And now it's good.
And now I put the headphones on.
So I'm going to be honest about something.
You should go shorter.
I don't know.
Cause I, you don't know.
I think you're so cute.
I feel like if you went a little shorter,
it would be even cuter.
I don't know.
We'll see.
I asked my hairstylist is like,
is everyone coming in and getting Bob's?
Because that's what's,
are Bob's all over your Instagram?
Yeah.
Okay.
So like it's Bob, Bob, Bob girl fall.
Yeah.
We're bobbing.
We're broaching.
We're bobbing.
We're broaching.
And so I was like, is everyone doing it?
And she's like, yeah, they are.
And I try to talk people into doing the lob
just to kind of like get their feet wet
cause you can always go shorter.
But you can't, you know, she's like,
so I know some girls are going to come back
asking me for extensions in a few weeks.
Well, that sounds like it'd be good for business.
Yeah.
But she does.
She did say that this is her favorite haircut.
The lob is her favorite haircut
because it looks really good on a lot of people.
So just if you're considering just like go for it.
I have it.
I've dabbled in the lob before.
Like truthfully, I think after Fred was born
and after Hattie was born, I went and I did a chop.
You know, I just did.
I did what moms do and I chopped it.
And at the time I was like, oh, it's fine.
It's cute.
Now when I look back at photos and videos from that time,
no, hate it.
Hate it.
I like make my hair too light.
I let them cut my hair too short.
Yeah.
I am a brown headed long haired girl.
And that's just all I need to be.
You're also like crazy.
This is the craziest thing I think about you.
And that is that you can have like long hair
and never put it up.
Like you can be like neck deep and a dirty diaper
and like you didn't put your hair up.
Like your hair is down.
Like you can do anything with your hair down.
It doesn't bother me to keep my hair down.
And not that I don't know why I don't,
I just don't, I actually like how I look with my hair up.
I can just never execute it very well.
And like I love to figure out like the half up, half down.
Like those girls who can just like take a clip
and like throw it up.
Like you do follow Kate ate small things.
I think that's her handle.
No.
She's like queen of the half up, half down.
Like literally, like it's what she like went viral
is what she's known for is like her hairstyles.
And I am so jealous of her.
She's just like that.
She's like, well, let me just throw my hair back.
Yeah.
It looks good.
Every single time.
Yeah.
No, that's something that I'm really wanting to try
and master with this lob.
Because I hate that I always put my hair on top of my head.
Like it's so annoying, but like I can, I'm not like you.
I have to have it out of my face, but I, I want it up.
So I actually just ordered some clips off Amazon.
Like I'm kind of trying to figure out
what my clip game is going to look like.
Totally.
Totally.
But speak, it's so funny that you're wearing that hat
because speaking of hat, where'd you get that hat?
Oh, yes.
I got this hat at Merrick's Arts Anthropology Launch Party.
It was so much fun.
It was amazing.
It was.
So if you missed last episode,
it was with and I went to Merrick
at Merrick's Art is her Instagram handle.
She's huge.
She's got 1.2 million followers.
Like, you don't, we don't need to tell you who she is.
You know her.
And she's an amazing fashion creator.
And she's doing a collab with Anthropology
that comes out that came out yesterday.
No, today.
Well, I thought this was launching Wednesday now, Liz.
It's a new schedule.
Oh, I'm so thrown off.
You're right.
It launches. This has come out on Wednesday.
It launched it yesterday.
And she threw a party for it.
And it was the best event I've ever been to.
It was so cool.
Here's what I loved about it.
It was like at her house.
So, which was just like really nice and like in cozy,
you know, an intimate,
but she had like her collection set up
and then she had an accessory bar
where you got like some items from her collection
and then like a couple of other like Anthro items.
And so I got this hat with a bear on it
that I'm wearing right now.
It's super cute.
Super fun party.
I mean, anything butternut squash ravioli was on the menu
and like those are three of my favorite words put together.
I need to get my butt to a Trader Joe's
and get some seasonal raviolis.
I've spent too long since I've had, I just,
I want all of them.
I want the sage.
I want the, and like the thing about raviolis is
it's not something that I would really make
for my family for dinner because Georgia doesn't eat cheese
and like Tyler would just like freak out
if I didn't serve her protein.
But like it is what I need for my girl dinners.
Your girl lunch.
My girl lunches are like,
oh yeah, the kids are eating muskos.
Like, you know, sometimes Tyler also, he's so crazy.
Sometimes Tyler will just like
eat a thing of like deer sausage.
Like that's what he wants for dinner.
And I'm like, OK, like I'm so like on the days I just can't.
And I should just like take it as like a thank you.
You're not asking me to cook you dinner.
I don't know why it annoys me, honestly.
But there's just times where it's like the kids are muskos.
Tyler wants to eat his deer sausage,
like doesn't want to touch what I'm attempting to cook.
And like I should have a butternut squash ravioli on deck.
Yeah.
And I'm just going to work on that.
For sure. No, Maddie's the same way.
He like is so fine with just having like a bowl of ground beef
with cheese and hot sauce.
And at first I was like, OK, but I can also make you like I can cook.
Like, you know, I can cook, right?
And then I'll like one day I'll just be like,
I'm over it. Here's some ground beef.
And he's like, this is the best meal.
Like, OK, great.
Like you're pissed. You're like, yeah.
I know. It's like you didn't want to eat my delicata squash.
That was delicious.
I know. I know. But that's OK.
You know what, it actually doesn't annoy me anymore
because it makes my life easier.
But well, I know.
And we need to take the W.
But like I am looking forward to the days where.
Like my kids want to like some of my kids.
I don't even care which ones.
I just think is my husband's not a foodie.
Yeah. My husband's not a foodie.
Your husband's not a foodie. No.
And there's just some days where it's like,
I wish someone in this house would give a rip
that I browned the butter and like, you know,
julienne the basil and like did things like that.
There's like one someone to care.
I know. And so I'm hoping one of my kids
like will be that person with me.
At this right now, I'll be Libby
because she's honestly my bestie.
She's my bestie right now. Yeah, totally.
So I feel that that's why I like haven't made chili yet.
I want to make chili like Maddie doesn't eat onions.
James is so picky.
So I'm like, who am I going to make chili for me?
I know. I made a big I make.
I made a big pot of chili last night,
which is what I saw your chili.
And all I wanted was to just like be there and eat it.
Well, do you want me to bring you some after this podcast?
I have so much.
Let me just let me just bring you one serving of it.
Bring one serving.
That would be great.
One little serving of my chili.
But it doesn't have to be a little serving, though.
Like it can be like a healthy serving.
Yeah, no, I've got the perfect container.
I'll send you with some chili.
And you can get your chili facts.
Perfect, because I have ground beef in the fridge.
So I'll just give that to Maddie for dinner tonight.
And I'll eat that.
So anyway, yes, I did.
I had such a great weekend, such a fall filled weekend.
Unfortunately for us, like it's still 81 degrees.
Like I'm totally sick of it.
Yeah, I'm sick of it.
And I'm so worried we're just going to have that fall
where it's like 81 32.
And you're like, oh, wait,
whereas I want it to be 50.
I just want it to be 50.
My fear is that we are going to get the 50,
but it's going to be 50 on Christmas
and then it's going to be snowing in April.
And here's my petition.
I'm like, should we just move Christmas?
If it's going to if the seasons are going to be so jacked up
that now like December is not cold
and it's only ever snowing like in the early year.
I'm like, that's I only want snow on Christmas.
If it's not Christmas, I'm not interested in snow.
Wow, you just like you're throwing a lot on the table right now.
I think it's all one cohesive thought,
but I'll allow you to answer.
Well, one, I think you're kind of centering yourself in Christmas
because like there's different climates all across the country.
It does snow for some people on Christmas.
Mm hmm. So I think that's like a consideration.
OK. And two, I think we just need to look at winter
for what it is and we need to.
This is why we shouldn't be rushing into things.
Sure. Let's not rush into Christmas.
So let's put up our Christmas decorations later.
And then we were not like January 8th.
Doesn't roll around where like get these freaking Christmas decorations down.
Like let's enjoy them when it's cold.
Maybe it's just like Christmas vibes.
Like I don't want to enjoy the Christmas vibes when it's hot.
I think I think like my big goal is like I'm just trying to cultivate
like seasonal vibes like this weekend.
Like I tried to cultivate a fall vibe.
I thought to myself, I didn't do this in September.
I didn't even do this.
Like I waited until October, like a proper fall girl
to cultivate the weekend that I had.
Apparently, I should have waited longer because the weather didn't cooperate.
And I think I'll do something with winter.
I'm just going to wait longer to cultivate those vibes.
And I'm really going to I'm really going to like dive headfirst
into all things winter and what that means.
And see now when I feel like you just said so many words
didn't actually add up to anything.
Other both giving word salad.
And I want to get back to my weekend for a second because this is OK.
OK, what was your weekend?
One thing about us is we're not going to solve.
We're not going to solve this problem.
Certainly not on this podcast.
Anyway, so my weekend consisted of trying to cultivate fall vibes.
First of all, I have tried to seek out an apple cider doughnut.
Didn't find that landed on like a cinnamon sugar, which was good.
But I'm still looking for that cake apple cider doughnut.
Still trying to find that everyone in St. Louis is like Eckers.
It's like, OK, I'm not going to have an hour for it.
I'm looking at I'm looking around my local places for anything apple cider.
Don't relate it.
Haven't found it yet.
Made a chili.
Watch the Lions game.
Yeah.
Chili was a 10 out of 10 situation.
It was my first chili of the season.
Everyone was excited.
Actually, all my kids ate it.
So shout out to my chili.
I just did up right.
I graded cheddar myself, nothing out of the bag over here.
I got the old cheese block out, got the old shredder done, melts way better
if you do it that way. That's just a fact. Mm hmm.
