And welcome back.
We are here, back in the garage, aka blunt garage, aka our studio, aka whatever else.
Yeah.
We made it back from Nashville in one piece, surprisingly, right?
Yeah, we did.
We made it back.
As you've heard the past few weeks, we did some episodes there.
It was cool to meet those guys or even get to chat with them.
We knew a few of them before.
Yeah, that was cool.
It was good times.
And so, yeah, today is actually episode 150.
Wow, dude, 150 episodes.
There it is.
It took me a second to find it because of the menu looks weird.
All right.
Cool.
Yeah, episode 150.
So that's sweet.
Anybody listening today, we couldn't have made it to this point without your support.
We definitely don't do this for money.
We don't make any money at all.
And, you know, that's kind of by choice.
Like we could take on ads.
We could, you know, really pump the YouTube or we could really, you know, do a lot
of these things.
We're just really doing this for fun to stay connected.

And that's what we, you know, when people talk to us like about it, we're like, this
is to stay connected with the, you know, kind of JDM community, right?
Right.
Us being up here in Maine, disconnected from the actual car culture podcast definitely
helps.
So reaching 150 is a pretty big milestone for us.
Yeah, it is.
I mean, really, you know, consistently.
Yeah.
You know, we, maybe besides like, I don't know, I feel like it's been every single, every
single Saturday, plus some Wednesdays for the marketplace, we have been doing this
and it started at his kitchen table.
Literally.
Kitchen table.
And, you know, we've brought it across the country.
We've brought it across the world to Japan.
Yeah.
You know, we went to UP Garage in Washington, did a live one.
That was fun.
Yeah.
Tommy's episode.
So we've, we brought it with us too.
So yeah, 150 is awesome.
We appreciate you guys.
And we figured, okay, let's start off the episode with updating like where we're at.
We know this guy was putting an SR in his 32.
Yeah, I was.
So that's a, that's past tense.
That means it's in there.
So now, now what, like, how's it been?
What's the deal?
Dude, it's been awesome.
Yeah.
I mean, it's been great.
I literally drove it almost every single day in July, other than those few days that we
traveled for IA.
So I put probably 5,000 kilometers on the car now already, maybe, maybe six.
So quite a few.
I mean, I've been racking them up and it's given me absolutely zero problems.
That's cool.
So yeah, I'm thankful for that and in Nashville we got to go drifting and that was fun
as well.
Only had a few little minor, minor dumb issues, but worked through them and fixed them.
I mean, one of them was like the e-brake handle had slid up and like locked the e-brake on.
And I mean, that was just, you know, loosening it, moving it back down where it needed
to go, tightening back up.
It's all good.
So it's just been dumb things like that.
Yeah.
I mean, nothing crazy.
Even with the engine, like it's had knock on wood, hasn't made any funny noises, hadn't
had any stumbles, hasn't left me stranded and yeah, I'm thankful for it.
So okay.
So you know, you did the swap.
That was dope.
So you do it here in the garage.
It actually was the actual swap itself was really quick.
He made it seem like really, really easy, but I don't feel like that's how it would
have went for me.
But you made it seem really easy.
So you get to that point, you know, you run it, you test it out and then you bring it straight
to Nashville.
Yeah.
But you didn't just bring it to Nashville, you, I mean, you were sliding it all around
the track.
Like how did it slide?
Like how was the power?
What do you wish it was like or was it perfect or you know, what's the deal with that?
I mean, I didn't have like very many expectations.
I just wanted to be able to like link the course comfortably and not struggle and
have to like really beat on the car to get it to slide.
And it did that.
It did that totally fine.
And I mean, it's, it's definitely the best SR that I've had.
I've had a few in my day and the way this one runs, it's, it's, it's nice.
I mean, definitely has plenty of power, but you always want more, you always want more.
You always want more.
I just want to turn up the boost a little bit more, you know, a little bit more horsepower,
maybe a little bit bigger turbo, but like for now, I mean, it's, it's good, you know?
And I, I don't want to, I don't want to per se let the magic out.
Yeah.
Sure.
I get it.
Yeah.
Cause once you do that, like it's, it's always something with it, right?
Right.
So I haven't, I haven't pulled the head on it, haven't taken the cams out, haven't
done none of that.
And to get more power, those are things that I can do, but I just don't want
to, don't want to let the magic out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I get that.
I can see that.
Like that's, yeah.
For sure.
Because that's when, that's when they're not reliable.
Right.
Or start to not be.
That's almost kind of how I feel about the 34, because right now it, the magic's
in there.
Right.
You know?
And so I'm like, I have the 33 back here and the magic's been out.
Right.
You know?
And I know, I know it.
She knows it.
You know?
Yeah.
You know, the 34, it's so kind of smooth and reliable and like, no, it's not like super
powerhouse, but it's definitely fun.
So like when we, you know, hit the toge, I mean, it was fun.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Like it was, it was good.
You know?
So yeah, I get what you're saying about letting the magic out.
Right.
So I mean, I kind of want to just keep it how it is, you know, with stock
ECU and stock reliability, because that's just one less worry in my head.
Yeah.
And I never thought I'd be one of those guys who says, oh, I just leave it alone
and like leave it stock, you know?
But I think, I don't know, in my age or something, I don't know what happened, dude,
but it's just like, I'm like, oh, okay, yeah, maybe I could just leave that alone
and have fun with it, whether I have, whereas, you know, 10 years ago, it
would have been, all right, got to do every single
thing to it, got to fully build it, got to do rods, got to do pistons, got to do a
stroker kit, like all this stuff, but it would never run in the end.
Yeah.
I mean, I definitely see what you're saying.
It's like, you know, at your age, you know, you leave it like this and like
you can have some fun and it's going to stay together.
Right.
And you don't got to spend a bunch of crazy money.
Right.
Yeah.
It makes sense, right?
And so if you, if you didn't catch it, Aaron here,
though, so our whole trip, you know, Aaron was recording, you know, I've never
been, I've never had like a vlog.
He hasn't really had like a vlog, but he's like, let's, let's just record
this and make a vlog for, for the YouTube channel.
And I was like, yeah, I mean, it can't hurt.
It is just something to do on this super long trip, you know, anyways.
So Aaron recorded a bunch of clips, did a bunch of, what?
I don't know, talking, commentating.
I don't know, whatever they're calling that on the YouTube.
Narrating.
Narrating.
Yes.
And, and so it came out really good.
He edited the whole thing too.

That's pretty much what he's been doing.
What's up with the 34?
The 34.
Because there's, there's, dude, again, I'm seeing all these, all these
percentages and numbers and tariffs and all this crazy stuff being thrown
around like, like what's the deal, dude?
Like, what is the deal?
Like, what's the deal?
Like, what is the deal this month?
Don't know.
I don't know, dude.
I try not to even think about it.
Oh yeah.
I'm using the board.
It's episode 150.
Dude.
No, but I, you know, I try not to think about it.
Last I saw Sean Morris post something, which is who I try to
pay attention to because he's not only knowledgeable.
He is pretty much the guy doing my car when it comes in here.
So I try to pay attention to what he says.
Last I saw it was 17.5, a total of 15 added on that hurts.
I mean, on a hundred thousand dollars, that's an extra 15,000.
And so when was it slated to come in?
It's December, right?
December one.
Well, it's a December car.
It's a December car.
So, I mean, and really like none of these tariffs and none of this,
like none of these things even matter until it's on the boat, right?
Until it's on the boat until like, I mean, so what they're doing now is just
sending you on like the craziest, the craziest roller coaster.
Yeah, dude.
I've already had a few mental breakdowns.
It's been tough.
It's been sort of subject.
All right, moving on.
No, I mean, dude, it's.
Yeah, dude, I am definitely not made of money.
It definitely, you know, let's just say, let's just say, okay, I paid.
This is figurative.
We all know I paid more than this.
A hundred thousand dollars for this car.
Yeah.
It was $2,500 on top.
That was super manageable.
That's like, you know, super justifiable.
It's like a sales tax.
Yeah.
And that's why not even important have may have had a business, right?
Because that $2,500 on a hundred, you know, that's like 1250 on 50.
Dude, that's not much.
Right.
You add 15% to that now on a hundred.
That's 17.5 K. That's 17.5 K.
I have to pay on top of anything else, you know, anything else.
So yeah, you know, emotional roller coaster.
You could say that just like, like, okay, you know, I'm not, I'm not doing a
bunch more to this car when it gets here at this point.
If I have to drain over 17 and a half thousand just in tariffs.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, that, that takes a definitely takes a chunk out of the wallet.
Yeah.
That's a lot of parts for that amount of price.
Yeah.
So what's up with it?
Um, I just paid up everything from all the trips.
So like I'm all good.
The car is like paid up.
So next would be in October sometime, I would say in like 60 days, the maybe, maybe
a few more, you know, but it will be put on the boat.
From the boat?
Yeah.
So because if I, you know, they're going to do their best to have it land, you
know, right after the 1st of December.
Right.
So it's going to, it's going to jump on a boat.
I mean, October.
See how it goes.
Yeah.
So yeah, I'll just have to pay.
I mean, October is.
Yeah, 60 months.
Yeah.
60 days is what I'm thinking.
So yeah, that's not that far away considering how long I've waited.
Um, I am, I had to make like me a spare key and like the trunk for some
reason, the trunk cylinder didn't work with a key period.
So they replaced the trunk cylinder like Nissan did.
So, you know, I've had a few little things done to that.
I had all of the lighting, um, you know, swapped over to LED, just kind of
like I did this, uh, the 33.
So just some little things.
But yeah, now that I know I have this big tariff, I'm like, okay,
besides this like huge pile of parts I have in the corner, that's like it.
I mean, it is a pretty big pile.
Yeah.
But that's it.
So, you know, um, but the 33, you know, yeah, I just, we drove that in
Nashville, I, we, I, we driven around here today.
We hammered home from work.
It's like a 20 minute commute, like highway and then some
rotaries, which this guy loves.
He loves the rotaries.
I can always count like a, we, yeah, we come on.
There's a series of two different rotaries and we come onto it.
And I always know I had no to have my phone out.
Yeah, I wasn't going to do it today.
Yeah.
It's all, it was all graded from where they're doing construction.
Oh, that first one.
And I like, I look behind me and I see you and you have your
phone out the window.
So I was like, Oh, okay.
So I just, yeah, you just smoke the tires and cranked it sideways around the rotary.
Yeah, it's a blast though.
I mean, you got to have fun while we can drive and we do have a
limited season up here.
And yeah, every time we drive these cars alone or in tandem around here, you know,
a lot of people do recognize what they are for sure.
Like they know they're like, Holy shit.
Right.
Is that right side drive?
Yes, sir.
So yeah, that's kind of, you know, that's kind of what's been up.
I'm, I am excited for the 34 or two land and be in the garage.
That will definitely be like a cool thing because we had it in Japan and, you know,
that's really going to come full circle to be able to put some miles on it.
I mean, even though if it lands any time after October, which it obviously is,
like it's not getting driven until next year.
Anyways, but I mean, never know with these winners we've been having
like, dude, what if there's not even snow on the ground till January?
Well, you're right.
That'll give you a couple.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
But anyways, that, that, that'll for sure just be this, the full circle
moment for sure, taking that out here for the first time, you know,
and ripping it around, seeing the locals drop their pants.
What?
So, okay.
All right.
So that's what's been up with us.
And so, you know, we're like, all right.
The last time we kind of did a check in was episode 100, our 100th episode.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Hmm.
Now we're on episode 150.
So, you know, the last 50 episodes have been pretty cool.
I mean, they, they really have.
We've, we've had on a lot of guests, we kind of the last 50 episodes, we dropped
our, like, I don't know, us talking and doing knowledge and informational
stuff and kind of picked up on the guests.
Right.
Um, and so, you know, that, that was really cool to be able to do that stuff.
And we kind of throttled back on the marketplace, kind of held back.
It, it didn't feel like it was providing as much value as we thought it was.
So we kind of just hung back on that a little bit.
So we weren't overloading you with episodes.
So it wasn't just like, what the hell?
I just listened to one Saturday.
Now Wednesday, now Saturday, you know, and without providing something
really valuable in between the two Saturday episodes.
So we kind of, kind of chilled out on that.
We, we tried one with the Bayee or not the Bayee, but the Goonette or Goonette,
whatever.
Um, you know, that was cool, but you can't really do that monthly.
I don't feel like that would be super valuable either.
So, um, but yeah, we did get to, like we said, we got to fly to
Washington, go to UP Garage.
Yeah.
That was dope.
That was really cool.
That was eyeopening for sure, because, you know, at that point, I had never seen,
you know, that many skylines in one place in America, like in person at least.
Yeah.
So that was pretty cool.
And like, not just skylines, but GTRs, stages, 360 RSs, all that stuff.
So just seeing that place and talking to Doug and Eric about things, it was
just, that was really cool.
That was probably one of my top episodes.
Yeah.
I mean, in just meeting Doug and Eric and having them let us drive this car,
you know, it was, it was perfect for sure.
Like they made our eight or 10 hours in Washington.
Yeah.
Like really awesome.
That was in February or March.
I think it was somewhere around there, right?
Yeah.
Which was, you know, wow, because coming from Maine, like you expect
everywhere up north to be cold.
Yeah.
We got over there and it's just like 60, 70 degrees.
It's like perfect weather.
Sweet.
They tossed us the keys to this R32 and, you know, gave us that route.
Dude, that route was insane.
Yeah.
That was cool.
We thought it was just going to be this little, you know, shop car route,
right?
But now it was like a tour around like the outskirts of Seattle kind of.
Dude, it was insane.
I mean, I, I've never been to that area.
Not me neither.
And like, I kind of want to go back like just to see what else is out there
because there was some sweet stuff.
Yeah.
They police definitely had a cool vibe.
I enjoyed it.
Yeah.
Definitely enjoyed the knowledge that Doug and Eric had.
Yeah.
That was cool.
I remember I took a dump in that porter party at the park.
The porter parties are all right out there.
Dude, yeah, I think I got a picture of that, at least the 32 in that
parking lot.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
So anyways, and then going down to Tommy's, you know, the Tommy episode was
awesome, that really was a great opportunity for us to see garage as zero
and just again, another situation like that where Tommy brings us out in the
33 and then the GTT that's like, I don't know, basically a rear wheel drive
34 or sorry, rear wheel drive GTR, you know, with the way he had it set up.
So to see those things and then the machine shop, like just the whole
thing was, was a great opportunity and without our listeners, without this
podcast, like we're not getting to have that opportunity and then get, get
that experience out to the listeners.
So, you know, these, these have been cool.
And, you know, obviously, if you're listening to this, you know, that
we would love to do those sort of episodes for every single episode.
The remote guess is just a kind of like, it's part of our circumstance.
Right.
You know, so we would love if we had the ability to travel to different
guys, you know, if, if we were in more central location, that's for sure
what we would do because just the whole vibe, you know, like the Doug
and Eric and then the Tommy episode and, and even these IA episodes, they
flow so much better and it's so much more just like, yeah.
You're, you're feeding off each other.
It's something you can't do remotely.
Right.
Right.
It's a, it's a different vibe.
Yeah.
For sure.
So, so just know we would love to do that.
But, you know, we still have great guests on rival GTR, you know,
hearing his story about the whole zoom thing.
Oh yeah.
That was crazy.
Like his whole come up was, his come up was sweet.
Yeah.
And then dude did like getting took like that with his R32 is insane.
Like that was an insane story.
Yeah.
Exactly.
So it's right.
It's a, it's cool.
Like the, these guys get to tell their story Colapo with his, you
know, stolen GTR that is like super rare and then seeing it and, you
know, coming out and telling his story and like how like, you know,
kind of gut wrenching even we felt like hearing like this is how it
went down for him.
Dude, it was insane.
Yeah.
Super sad.
Yeah.
And then, you know, Peter from HD works that, that was dope.
Same with, you know, Andrew from animal auto.
Yeah.
Those two guys opposite coasts, both doing like super dope things.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like doing the shop interviews or, you know, whatever episodes
because we get to hear the differences, but the similarities.
Like it's like a lot of these shops had the good shops.
Yeah.
Have the same core value, I would say, you know, about kind of, of
course, right?
This is, this is like whatever, like customer first, but like
these guys actually do, truly do that and like it shows in the
support that they get.
Yeah.
And, you know, the customers that they continue to get, you
know, and so to see that and hear that firsthand, each of
them kind of described themselves similarly.
Yeah.
It's pretty cool because yeah, that's, that's what tells me we
still got some really good people left in this industry.
Yeah.
You know, it's almost like, you know, having the same recipe,
just different cooks.
Yeah.
Exactly.
For sure.
Same recipe at the core.
Yeah.
But right.
The way they're, they're cooking is much different.
Right.
I would say.
And each got their own little flavor.
Yeah.
Whoa.

Whoa.
Dude, too deep.
Real it in.

Um, no, but you know, it really has been cool.
And then of course, the learning, right?
Like each and every episode, you know, no matter who it is,
they're, they're teaching us, right?
They're teaching us something like Calvin, Molly, and, and
how like, even if you do get screwed, you don't have to lose.
You know, you, you can get something out of it.
You know, uh, LeBet Coetto, like women can do this too.
Right.
You know what I mean?
So these episodes really teach us something every single time,
even us just, you know, doing them, oh, even just us doing them.
But how about Jaren or Nip on Nick?
Right.
Like we have had some really cool, interesting and unique.
There's a bunch of words I could say in a row about like some of these
guests, right?
Um, and you know, this is.
It's a thing, right?
Like 150 episodes, it was, it was May or March of 2023,
whichever, whatever it was, right?
And you know, here we are in August of 2025.
That's in, in, like we said, we dropped just damn near every
weekend for that whole time.
And it's been, and again, it's been awesome.
Like now we have new friends and acquaintances and like, yeah, it's cool.
We've gotten to go to Fuji track days and sit in Tokyo Auto Salon and
record an episode.
Like, you know, we like have gotten to do such cool things.
And it's definitely nothing I would take back for the world.
And you know, I, I for sure don't want to not do it, right?
Like, because it, you know, to be honest, it costs us very little.
Yeah, we, it costs us more time than money, I would say.
Um, but the time isn't even crazy.
But you know, where we're, I wouldn't say lost, but where we're
at like a crossroads is how do we continue to provide you the listener
value through this podcast, you know?
And I think, and maybe you would agree that like feedback is key to
knowing where to go next.
Yeah, for sure.
And so what we're asking of you, the listener, uh, is to provide us
with some feedback in whatever way, whether it's a Instagram comment, join
the Facebook group, you know, um, if it's an email, uh, whatever, right?
Like, like send us a DM, uh, comment on the episode, like whatever.
But like what, like, what could we do better?
Right?
Like in, like what friggin sucks about this podcast, you know, tell me, yeah,
tell me I stink.
Let's, like, let's be real about it.
Like what, what sucks about this?
What is something you thought as the listener, like, damn, I wish they
did this or why didn't they do that?
You know, feedback from you guys, because we have like so many listeners
and each of you are talented or, um, brilliant in your own ways, right?
So getting feedback from you guys is definitely how we can make this better.
And you know, as far as we want to go, uh, you know, we want to continue
to go weekly, we've thrown around like, you know, do we, in our offseason,
because clearly up here in Maine, we're getting snowed in for half the year.
Do we go bi-weekly in our offseason since there isn't as much going on?
Like, let's just say November to March, right?
Do we go bi-weekly?
Is, is that a good idea?
Uh, should we be doing, being more video centric?
Like, should we be doing more video content?
Like, you know, throw us the feedback.
Yeah.

I mean, you know, this doesn't take us a ton of time, but life
events do, do happen.
I mean, I just want to throw out here.
