Next question from JXOJXO02. Most people probably didn't even know it was today.
Is it me or is there somehow very little hype around car reveal season this year?
I think that's very easy to say after a team just drop a one-minute video on Twitter or Instagram.
Yeah, how do you measure hype? What's the hype measurement scale?
Exactly. What is the hype? I think you compare it to last year, of course, there was this big
event. It was spoken about loads. They were hyping it up again and again,
like on the Formula One page itself, it was constantly like F175 is going to be this,
people trying to get tickets, people trying to go to this thing. Here are the acts that are
going to be playing. There was so much build up around it. I think maybe it's just because
this is back to the norm that people are a bit like, oh, but at the end of the day,
like of course, Haas launching a one-minute 13-second video on Twitter is not going to be
as much hype as a F175 event launching all the cars. When we get to the end,
I said this before, I like that you're going to have different launches, like Audi next,
that's a big launch. They're going to it. We are going to it, so it's going to be very exciting.
So that will be a lot more hypes, and then you've got to think that you're getting
quite a few of them. So it gets dragged out more, but I like that.
Nothing will come close to the event last year. That in itself, as we've said, was a massive thing.
I also maybe, if we are thinking and people listening are also wondering whether there is less
hype, it's because last year only just ended. There has not been time for us to forget F1.
The season doesn't start for like a month and a half. We're quite a way away from
actually having lights out in Australia. And I perhaps think that maybe some people,
it's like, oh, cool, that is a Haas image. But we just finished the season.
And then the testing is like secret, and we have no idea if we're going to even know anything from
it. So it's not like, all the cars are coming out. Oh, we're going to see them on track
really soon. We're not going to see them soon. It's going to be a month till we...
Well, we're going to keep our ears to the ground, aren't we, Tommy? We'll try and do some
content. Whatever we find out, maybe very little. But if we can just see smoke or something,
because someone's conked out. Get some binoculars out.
Yeah, maybe we should go to Spain. Rent out a helicopter.
But I don't think there's necessarily less hype when you look to the Red Bull car launch,
which was on a very unsociable hour for a lot of people, not just us. I think it didn't
really work for many people around the world, apart from perhaps Australia. But there was
150,000 people watching that live stream on YouTube. So I still think there's a lot of intrigue.
And there will be as this season begins to get closer to lights out, because it's a massive
regulation change. And I'm really excited for it. A question for people on Patreon.
Remember, you and Bobber, what would a successful Haas season actually look like to you? Points
every weekend or one absolute fluke banger result? That's what I was hoping for last
year with Ferrari was a fluke banger result of a win. But can you really even say that is
successful? Say, for example, Haas scored a miracle podium, but then were 17th and 18th
for the entire year. Would you call that successful? No. If you're looking at a new
regulation set and building the foundations for the coming years, where of course,
teams can build on the rules that have been put in place, it has to be a consistent one.
Lots of points finishes for Haas. Ollie Bearman taking another step up from his awesome season
last year. Ocon, he had not fluke bangers, but he had small moments of brilliance across the year.
He fives them things. Yeah, which gave him a decent chunk of points. But from an overall
season perspective, you'd say Ocon didn't really have the best one. So for me,
a successful season for Haas is consistent points finishes. Yes.
Yeah, it's definitely consistent points finishes. The only example that's coming
to the top of my head here is when Alpine got that double podium in Brazil in 2024.
You don't look at that season and go, Alpine were really good, weren't they?
They were all right. They certainly weren't as bad as they were last year.
But yes, they got that successful result. And of course, Haas, it would be amazing for them.
And I really want to see it happen because it's amazing that they've been in Formula
one for so long now and still not got that first podium. You look at the crazy things that have
happened. Like, you know, I mean, it literally like Pierre Gasly got a win in Alphataury,
things like that. And yet Haas haven't even managed to get that one podium finish in a
crazy race of all the drivers. They've had a pole position and things like that. It's mad.
So they'd love to have that amazing result. But while it's kind of, you know,
that's the fairytale moment in terms of like what's actually good for them.
It's just building on kind of what they've been doing realistically, like the last few years and
you know, the improvement has been a lot. It's strange to think when you look at how well,
particularly like Oli Bearman was doing at the end of the season and kind of
getting some really strong results. Mexico is obviously the standout
that they started the year at quite surprisingly of like, wow, they're like rubbish, like
qualifying at the back all the time and really awful in that first race, you know, they're
getting like lapped and stuff. And it was like, this is terrible. And, you know,
they had a quite a strong end to the year. So it's the consistency is what they're going
to be looking, looking for. They were terrible with an Ocon had an amazing China performance,
which exactly. And it just made no sense. Ocon for what I feel like my memory of the
first half of the season for Ocon was he was either like fifth or 20th.
Absolutely madness. Well, there you go. That is the Haas livery reveal done and dusted how we have
managed to talk for over 17 minutes on a one minute 13 video. Well, that's what the
P1 podcast is all about. We love talking about Formula One and we will continue to do so.
Tommy, what are your final thoughts? Final thoughts are, I'm just hyped for Audi next,
let's say where we're going to be going. It's going to be really exciting to go to a car launch,
see a new team. I know that obviously they've taken over Sauba, but like a new team from that
sense. And they're an engine and a whole new identity for them. That's going to be
a really, really exciting one. So can't wait to be there and can't wait for you to
enjoy the content that we're going to be doing. Yeah, lots of content, live podcast,
not live is in live stream, but live in the sense of if you saw our red ball one that we went to
when we went in person there, similar vibes to that. We'll show you a lot of behind the scenes.
