Next, we asked Kate about what's next for Citroen
and how disruptive can they be with Yammy,
which was a great success,
with Ali, which is a phenomenal concept.
Could they give us any teasers as to what's coming down the line
from Citroen in the future?
Obviously, we can't talk about what's in store,
but Citroen hasn't changed its vision
in the sense that we still want to create surprises.
The very fact that we see Yammy evolving in different ways already this year.
We've got a new CEO who's got lots of new ideas as well.
Citroen will continue to be a brand that will always have new surprises.
That's all I can say.
When do you envisage Citroen having a dedicated electric vehicle platform,
because multi-fuel is great at the moment for sales,
but as we get closer to targets and EU regulations,
where do we see that coming down the line?
¿Lo empie?
First of all,
on this side we have decided to have a multi-energy platform
and it's very helpful in this transition period
because two years ago or three years ago
we all imagined that the transfer to electric cars
would have been faster and it's not the case.
So we are very happy to have chosen these multi-energy platforms.
As you can see in the discussion with the European Commission and so on,
maybe that it won't go so fast as you said,
to go to full electric.
For the moment I think it's still the good strategy
to have complete multi-energy platforms, to be honest.
We see also with all our customer clinics and so on.
It was quite easy to convince people in advance
and it was easy to convince them to go to electric, full electric.
And now we are at a time where we have to convince some people
who don't really want to go.
And they are very, very hard to convince.
So it's also a question of regulation,
but it's also a question of speed in the mind of customers.
Are they ready to go to electric?
And the point is that we know that when someone has tried
and is now an electric driver, he doesn't come back.
He doesn't come back, never.
But it's quite hard to convince all those who are in the middle
don't know exactly, so we have to push a lot of tests
when they go to dealers and so on
to make them try an electric car thing.
Don't worry, it will be very easy to make all your charge
during your trips and so on.
So we have a lot of work to do with those customers.
Next up we were chatting with Federico Gore,
who is the SVP for Global Marketing and Communications with Citroen
and also the head of the Citroen Racing Team
or leading the Citroen Racing Team.

Y nos preguntamos por qué ahora la Citroen está llegando a Formula E.
Muchas razones, una bastante obvia es que
estamos conectando con nuestro,
tenemos 60 años de motorsport,
hemos ganado 17 WRC Rally Championship
entre los colegios de los TITOS 6, WTCC,
colegios y manufacturas.
5 Dakar Rally Rades,
Stellantis Motorsport already engages
en WEG y Formula E
con algunos otros grandes.
Entonces, llegamos a la conversación.
Básicamente, nuestra legación,
estrategia y obligación,
es decir,
estamos en la escena tradicional,
digamos, tradicional,
y no con una mayor acusación
entre los buyers de EV.
Entonces,
la mayor acusación entre los buyers de EV
es naturalmente entre los brands de EV nativo.
Entonces,
decimos,
ok, tenemos que ir grande,
tenemos que ir rápido,
vamos a poner las cosas juntos.
Y, después de algunas reuniones
con el FIA,
Formula E,
CEO, marketing team,
vemos,
cada vez que vas a un formato,
tienes que encontrar
una relación,
como un combate,
y definitivamente un combate.
Dicimos, ok,
si tienes objetivos,
si tienes objetivos,
lo global,
digamos,
el fútbol de Formula E,
tienen racistas
de aproximadamente 70%
de nuestros grandes mercados
por lo importante que tenemos.
Entonces,
colocamos la legación
con nuestra estrategia electrífica,
con lo que nuestros fans quieren ver,
lo colocamos todo juntos,
y lo que sabemos que hacer,
a través de nuestro Motorsport,
y sí,
eso fue...
Uno de los otros jornalistas
fue diciendo que es un poco tenuoso
el link entre Formula E
y un segmento C para las familias,
y si realmente han ido
a WRC,
sino que a Formula E,
y esto fue
Frederico's reply.
No mucho,
porque
puedo decirles,
hablando específicamente de eso,
en mi vida pasada,
he trabajado mucho con Formula One,
y construyendo
lo que se llama,
de la historia de los track,
en la Formula One.
Bueno, especialmente ahora,
hoy,
en la Formula One,
Power Train,
Engine Unit,
Power Unit works,
es just completely different
de cualquier tipo de
Engine,
Hybrid Engine,
lo que utilizamos
en roadcars.
Formula E car,
en realidad,
lo que funciona,
es exactamente the same
as an electric car, ok?
So you have a battery,
you have a battery,
you have a power train,
you have software,
you have a regenerative system,
the last three season,
we have pit stop with
600 volts fast charging,
you charge 10% of the battery,
so the stop is 60 seconds
for a safety thing,
but it actually charges
in about 30 seconds,
10% of the battery.
So,
actually the technologies
and the software
that we're developing
in the way of Formula E car
works,
is actually exactly the same
as any EV car works.
So,
a lot of the software
enhancements of how to,
actually if you go flat out,
learning with the team,
like if you go flat out,
as a driver,
more or less should,
driver would only make
about 40%
of a Formula E race.
So energy management is
absolutely everything,
absolutely everything.
Then there's a team strategy
about, you know,
the boost,
and if you stop and, you know,
you waste the time
of a pit stop
versus recharging,
having a bit more,
but if you go flat out,
you know, you only do
about 40%, 50% of the race.
So,
actually,
like 50% of the energy
used in the race
is regenerated
during the braking,
during the braking zone.
So,
that has a lot to do
with how we get more out of
the autonomy of the range,
which is,
which is...
Do you, with your link,
trying to link back
to the racing heritage,
when we talked at the launch
in Paris,
and we were talking about
will there be racing versions
of Citroens,
like your cilantro,
Opel with their GSE,
and Pugia with the GTI.
Do we envisage Citroen having
some sportier additions
for those that want to
hark back to the
Citroens of the past?
To be confirmed.
Okay, so that one's a no.
No, it's not a no.
It's not a no.
It's not a yes,
it's not a no.
To be confirmed.
Because that's what,
that's what,
and again,
so like the first question
is why?
Because it's part of that type
of thing,
like everybody wants,
you know, a sporty C3
or...
Well, technically everybody's
looking for an electric 2CV,
but you never give us
an answer on that.
Maybe there won't be news
next year,
I don't know.
And DS,
will they stay,
stay in Premier League?
No, DS.
There, there,
yeah,
next season they're next.
So two cilantro brands.
Yeah.
I got a comment
on my LinkedIn saying,
so how are you going to,
how are you going to
manage with the other
DS on track?
Like,
are you going to race?
You know,
like,
hell yes,
of course,
you know.
You know,
we've got to compete
in that way.
That's why,
you know,
teams are,
so,
we're both
Stellantis brands.
Citroen is going to be,
let's call it,
and all,
it's going to be a
factory team,
because the team
that we are
incorporating,
which is MSG,
is actually not
immediately,
but they will be coming
to Versailles,
so we will have
everything
in our factory,
so the car will come
and go.
Similar to the WRC.
Yeah.
In its time.
Yeah,
so we have
everything there,
everybody there,
we're taking care
of everything,
so that's why
we're sort of like
finishing off this
Gempoint 3.5 season,
but
for Gem4,
you know,
we got
all the ingredients
and our,
you know,
incredible team,
John Marfino,
they've been champion before,
so,
they have it in the blood?
Of course,
of course, absolutely,
absolutely.
So,
but an interesting thing
is that
we were deciding
on the name of the team,
if you just call it
Citroen Formula E team,
but we decided to call it
Citroen Racing,
the official name is
Citroen Racing
to keep the umbrella open,
so tomorrow
you'll probably receive
a sort of save the date,
so on October 20th,
we're revealing the team,
library, drivers,
everything in Paris,
so,
doing a joint event together
with FIA,
with Formula E,
so it's going to be
a very, very exciting event,
and we're going to kick off
on our, yeah,
with our right foot.
And the FIA is based
in Paris, anyway.
Sorry?
FIA is based in Paris.
Yeah,
they are their base,
most of the Formula E team
is in the UK,
you know,
it's always,
you know,
friends in the UK,
but the founders
are actually Spanish,
so it's a very,
you know,
pan-European organization,
and one of the things
that convinced me also
was the fact that
Liberty,
Global,
which is part of Liberty,
media holding,
they used to own
30% of the Formula E
championship,
last year
they bought 70%.
And they're the same crowd
that own Formula One?
Exactly,
they're the guys
who took it from Bernie
at Colston
and made it into
the Global Phenomenon,
the Global Phenomenon
that it is right now.
So,
and after,
again,
after talking with the
Formula E representatives,
but
absolutely everything
that they make,
they're putting back
into the sport.
I mean,
they're like a venture fund,
you know,
venture capital fund,
they're just putting
everything and finding
more race,
so we're going to have
a race in Spain now,
which is great,
a negotiation
to have a race
back in Rome again,
so hopefully
he wants that.
Tobler,
topic at Tobler.
You're going to cross
the line.
Again,
they're the really good,
they're the really good vibe
and when,
you know,
when you talk to them,
they're like,
okay,
like Formula E is considered,
you know,
like the little brother
of Formula One
and they're like,
no,
we're a different,
you know,
we're a different family,
we represent this,
we represent that,
we're both growing together.
The crowds are
quite a lot younger,
there's a lot of
crisscrossing between gaming
and Formula E,
obviously betting on the future
and for sure,
again,
with the Gen Four,
which is coming in
less than two years now,
again,
the cars are going to be faster
than a Formula Two,
only slower than a Formula One.
I mean, they already accelerate,
I mean,
they do 0 to 101 for in 82 seconds,
that's like 20%
more acceleration
than a Formula One.
So,
it's already,
you know,
torque and accelerates like hell
and in enclosed circuits
it's always going to be faster
than a Formula One.
And the races are
extremely exciting.
I was in Monaco last year.
They were tight.
Yeah,
the race leader changed
like seven times
in a nice sunny day
with no rain zone.
Thanks to Cache
in the design team,
thanks to William
in the product team
and also Friderico,
the head of marketing
and also Formula E.
Great to get some time
with these executives
on these press trips
and holding back a podcast
24 hours sometimes has
the benefits.
The September 2025 sales
numbers are out from
the S.I.M.I.
S.I.T.
with the Irish Motor Industry.
EVs up against 73%
versus September last year.
PHEVs up 44%
versus September last year.
Petrol sales down 24%.
Diesel sales down
on month last year.
And petrol hybrid sales
are down 4%.
Petrol was again
the most popular fuel type
sold in September of 2025.
Nearly 50% of cars
in September sold
had a plug socket on them
and one in three cars
between fully electric.
Year on year
EVs are up 39%.
EVs so far in 2025
are more popular than diesel.
And PHEVs are up 55%
year on year.
The top five models
for September 25
are in first place
the Tesla Model 3.
The second place
is the Tesla Model Y.
End of quarter
for Tesla is always strong
for their sales numbers.
Volkswagen ID4
has been the top five
I think every single month
is in third place.
BYDC97
so we're really starting
to see those orders coming in
for the C-Line 7.
Haven't seen a lot of them on the road
but they were in the top five last month
and now number four.
And then the Kia EV3
which has been a storm
busting, barn busting success
with Kia in fifth place.
So hopefully you've enjoyed
this week's podcast
about the EC5 Aircross
and the drive of it
last week
and the international press drive
and also to squeeze in the
Siamese numbers
and the positive news story
that is EV sales in Ireland
moving forward.
