Welcome to episode 27 of the right hand drive guys podcast. I'm Bobby. This is Aaron.
Yeah, yo.
And today is another installment from the live from IA, which we did a few weeks ago and did interviews with a few different guys.
But today we got the home.
Yeah, that's right. We got Mark Drennan.

Yeah, no, I ain't nobody calling him Mark.
But I was pumped about this one.
Yeah, yeah, dude. Squirt's been in the game for a super long time and and I actually think he his R32 way back in the day was like one of the first right hand drive cars.
I saw in Nashville.
So yeah, it was like O607. I feel like and I was like, dang, like it was the first time I moved down in Nashville and I'm seeing this dude whipping like an R32.
Can you just imagine what I built up in my head about him at that time coming into a new city coming from where I was from.
Right.
And like this dude's got like a right hand drive R32.
Like I'm like, wow, this dude's like a god.
Right, right. And you know, it wasn't stock from what I remember it up like it was kidded.
Yeah, I've ever had a big body kid on it and he always had it.
I don't know how many times he painted that thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, them themselves, right?
Probably back in the day.
Yeah, yeah, because like these these dudes are like skilled homies like for sure him and his brother Moe.
Yeah, like they are skilled homies.
Oh, yeah, they definitely do some work.
Yeah, Moe has brother pumps out some nice cards.
Very quality.
Yeah, yeah.
No, they're like definitely they're like individuals, which is sweet.
Yeah.
You know, it's not like these two are one thing like they're their own thing.
Yeah.
But them together is like a powerhouse really.
Right, right.
It's crazy.
They each got their own style and everything.
Yeah.
Squirks like into the Nissan's.
Moes into the Honda.
Do you think he's the older brother?

Yeah.
I would assume, yeah, I would assume that too, but what if he is the younger brother?
Is he kind of crazy?
I don't know.
You know, I always just see like him as the older brother and Moe as the younger brother,but like that's interesting.
We'll find out.

Yeah, but so, you know, I it was really cool to get the chance because, you know, Squirk,I've known him since back then, he's always been like a really cool supportive type guy.
Yeah.
You know, always having like the positive words and whatnot.
So it was really cool for me to get this sit down with him and like this man has had somany cars wait until everybody hears how many cars this one dude has had.
Yeah, yeah, I felt like I had a lot of cars like, I'm like, yeah, I've had like a decent amountof cars.
Yeah, I know.
I haven't had nothing.
The dude has definitely gone through some way.
Wait till you hear this number.
It is crazy.
So yeah, it was definitely really cool to sit down with him, but I'm going to go talk aboutit.

So this is Mark Squirk, Drenning.

Today I got a legend and I ain't even saying that lightly bro.
So if you're anywhere in the, you know, mid south, you in year into these type of cars, youprobably heard of this man.
We're talking Squirk.

So we're here live at IA Summer Meet 2023.
And you know, I always look forward to this because it brings out all of the OGs.
It brings out the guys that have been doing it.
Absolutely.
Yeah, and you're definitely one of them.
So today he brought out the red NSX.
My baby dude, you know, my dream cars.
Yeah, and I'm a Nissan dude.
I'm like a 180.
You know, I've had a couple 180s, couple R32s, but this is one of the dream ones you know.
Oh, and you put, I think looks like straight off the Wong gum.
Dude, like for real.
It worked out.
High wing.
Yes, man.
That carbon around the motor.
Yep.
So, so tell us a little bit about this red NSX and how it kind of got to where it is.
Right.
So, I guess we'll back it up.
So, you know, one of my dream cars, it was a time, I guess about four or five years ago,I was like, all right, it's time.
I guess to get it in a six.
I just know I feel like prices are going to start going up, right?
You were right.
Well, I got lucky, right?
So, big piece was, I was looking and found a car in Maryland, found a car in Cali.
And then one popped up in Antioch, right?
30 miles away from me.
Crazy.
91, 68,000 miles.
Cleaned, right?
I was just like, what is it?
It isn't me.
It didn't own man, or was it just?
Just bone stock.
Man.
Third, three on a car, right?
Car come from Louisiana, came to Memphis, and then came to me.
And it's all clean title, everything.
Everything, dude.
Super car, yeah, dude.
Dope car.
Fire car, dude.
Yeah.
And so, at the time, I think it was 22, 24,000, right?
Yeah.
That was pretty perfect.
You know what I mean?
Oh my gosh.
If I could only do it again, right?
Out of the bottom all at that time, right?
Yeah, really.
But yeah, so definitely that, you know, a half-star stack in parts, right?
Spoon mirrors, big brakes.
The whole nine got it together, and one configuration, rode it for like three years, bagged it.
Cool car, right?
That's what times would it?
NSXR GT was kind of my love, though, right?
Big scoop, you know, you get the MR2s, you get the NSXs, you want the scoop, you know?
For sure.
And that was just kind of the first thing, right?
So, it was like, "Oh, I'm gonna do a spoon thing."
So we did the spoon bumper.
Shout out to my boy, Chris, who molded that, right?
So molded it for the pop-up headlights.
Because that's actually for like the '02 style.
Yeah, so it's one of four in the world with the spoon bumper, yeah, dude.
So, trying to do some little trend-setting things, you know?
That's your style.
Yeah, you know?
So, definitely don't want to be like nobody else, everybody typically, wild body dome, or somethinglike that.
So, I want the battle stock body, right?
I think I did a pretty cool form on this one.
Yeah, yeah, and I noticed all the fine details like the carbon surround on the ducts.
Yeah.
And those, so are those legit SW380-H?
Yep.
Well, so actually I take it back.
They're not.
They're a mission, Japanese version of the wreckage, right?
Yeah.
Shout out to Luke for those, man.
So he hooked me up, he had those on his NSX, and he wanted to go to a different wheel.
I was on him.
Like, I need this theme, right?
So, that's what I ain't no for.
So, yeah.
Yeah, you pulled it off, too.
Dude, love it.
And so, you know, you never, you always come correct.
You never come half anything.
So try.
And I know it was a struggle, but just tell me, where was this car yesterday morning?
Like, what stage was it in the evening?
Oh, my God, dude.
No bumper, no seats, no debt.
I mean, everything was out, right?
So, I was like, dude, we got to get this car done, you know what I mean?

So, but anything else big on that car, just like you, you keep in the motor as is.
So, I'm trying to be respectful, man.
So, people who really know me know, I don't beat up my cars, man.
So, I really just, I baby everything.
I bet I hit VTEC four or five times.
Yeah.
In the five years I owned it, man.
I just, I'm just cruising it.
But if I ever hurt the motor or want to do a different style of build, like maybe likea full color swap or something, then we'll do something like a turbo K.
Right.
We'll go, we'll go nasty.
That would be fun.
Right.
You know what I mean?
I always wanted that still going with the NSXR GT, but that spoon book.
So, the yellow or the blue or the lagoon of the Lagoonasaka blue.
Yeah, that would be, yeah.

So, I always think about that way, too.
Yeah, so, so, you know, I always consider you a man of many cars.

I was really impressed that you still had that like, and they said you were getting your carready.
I'm like, what's it going to be?

Yeah, I'm typically, you know, I'll let a couple go.

I guess I've had 200 and some cars.
That's how I want to ask how many cars do you have?
Yeah, but this NSX man, I really do love it, you know, and unless I trade it for likean F430 or something, that's going to be my other cars.
Yeah.
So, I'm always like, I got this vision of like a white on white, F430 on some whiteregas and like a Votex swan, you know, wing or something.
That would be hot.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
I don't know.
You couldn't pass that.
Yeah.
If it's a gated manual car, maybe a F430 or something, you know.
Yeah.
All right.
Yeah.
And so, you know, we're always talking about right hand drive cars obviously on this podcast.
And so, how many right hand drive cars have you had?
Good gracious, dude.
I think that's terrible.
And maybe seven, I think seven.
I mean, but still, I mean, that's quite a few.
And so, you know, when I first met you like, yeah, back in '08, '09, I remember walking upon this car and just two homies just loving it, just beatboxing and rapping at the bridgein downtown Nashville.
When you say we're some rappers, man.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
But when you think back to those days and like those early days of having those righthand drive cars, would you say people were always like just in awe because especially back then,like, yeah, you and you and you and that one other guy were like the only guys with men'sown, but yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we ain't shot up the zone.
Yeah.
And would you say that, you know, the reaction to that car back then was was pretty crazy.
Yeah, it was crazy, you know, at that time, I believe there was no R32s in the state, right?
So, well, you know, we can talk about it now, right?
But that car came from Canada.
So Canada had already started letting cars in, I think 2005, it's just something, right?
And so this R32 had made it down to Alabama, a guy named Rick, who owned properties in botharea in Canada and here, right?
Sweet house.
I mean, Rick was the man.
But Eddie, who I had an S14, RB25 car, T67, he wanted it, son wanted it, right?
And he's like, I got this car line for you.
And I was like, this guy line?
Damn.
That same day, he hit me up.
We went to Alabama, you know what I mean?
And I was like, well, damn, there's a skyline.
Yeah.
I'm doing that trade, right?
I didn't care about the paperwork, dude.
I read that thing as an S14 in the streets of the boroughs.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Pull it over by cops.
No, not.
Yeah.
No one, I was like, what kind of car is this?
240 S6.
Yeah.
So it was cool.
Yeah, yeah.
And really, you know, back then, a lot of times, you know, when we did have these right handdrive cars, you did.
You did have to be strategic.
Yeah, absolutely.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
For sure.
And definitely know how to kind of smooth over the cars.
Yeah, no doubt.
Absolutely.
And so I know, you know, in your stable, because I know the stable is deep, but in your stable,I know you did just get something right hand drive that.
Yeah.
That's kind of out of the this work like.
Yeah.
Car is true.
It's true.
Yeah.
So tell us about that, man.
So I picked up a Nissan Stadia.
Love that thing, man.
It is.
I'm glad I got it, right?
It was I was bouncing around between cars and what did I want as a dope daily?
Yeah.
And I was like, oh, these stages are really hot.
Now typically everybody does the R34 conversion, right?
Yeah.
And I get it because I want to be like you too, Bob.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I love to get the R34 front.
The second I got that R34 wagon, but I think we're working on a acquiring parts right nowto do the cookie front end.
Oh.
The S14.
Yeah.
That's hard.
Yeah.
I got a $13 metal front end custom work by my boy Adam and my car club.
So Mr. Y34 himself.
So we're going to get that popping.
So I think that should be hot.
So yeah.
And so what are you going to run for a motor in there with that?
So we're going to keep the NL60s and that's an aspirated motor, right?
Okay.
So it's just running the meal.
Perfect little daily.
You know, was 30,000 miles.
Oh, no.
I'll do it.
So we're going to time and bail us a little things to get it right and just drive it,man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So don't need to go fast in this one, but we definitely want turbo noises.
So we'll probably do a little T28 or something, right?
Just to get me cruising.
Yeah.
And so what about wheels?
Because I mean, you know, you're right on there.
Well, right now.
So I was doing an S14 build, right?
And now I'm selling the S14 to my buddy.
So I had some parts laying around.
So I had the the Grady type bar.
So they external reservoir co-lovers.
I had Nissan LMs.
So yeah.
So you just had, oh, this guy has Nissan LMs laying around.
I heard you were in the elevator earlier too.
So yeah.
So you know, I got a real real real whore, but I got a couple sets, you know, a couple setsof regas, recessed TEEs.
So you got some stuff.
Yeah, I got some.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anytime I find a deal, I'm buying one singles dope pairs, whatever.
Yeah.
You got you some JD wheels, hollab.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's like, that's a good game to be in because look, you just picked up a stage.
You know, you've got options, right?
And I mean, you, you're obviously a guy that knows how to set his suspension up on allof these cars.
And so I can only imagine, I can't wait to see these pictures posted.
Once you get that thing with this, because we're sitting in front of an S14 cookie rightnow, which is front end, right?
Cookie wagging it be hard.
Oh, it'll go hard for the state.
Yes.
Absolutely.
And so, you know, what, wrapping this up, what, what's next for squirt?
Because you spit out a number 200 and something.
Yeah, man.
So, big thank you is dude is really getting, getting to fleet together, right?
You know, I got a lot of cars, man.
So, acquiring them with the right times, you know, like people trip when I say I got amock four super with $12,000, you know what I mean?
So, man, when I was putting the, you know, that car is actually going to be my firstdrag car.
So, when I was getting the Crow Molly Cajun, and I got off for 35 grand for the shale, youknow what I mean?
So, like, it's crazy what they are now, right?
Yeah.
So, next thing up, the super for sure, getting my Nova together, got a, you know, 70 NovaSuper Sport.
That's been a long time coming, right?
That's like something you've had before.
Yep.
I've had that Nova man, like 17 years.
Damn.
Yeah, dude.
So, that'll be nice to finally have that sitting pretty.

I mean, Nissan got hard, got my S13s, coupe in a hatch.
So, man, yeah, just, man, what size is this garage?

Not to the Popearm builders, man, they just got me right, too.

That's what's up, though, you know, because that, that was always the dream, right?

I'm excited to see that super too, because I can only imagine if it's a drag car.

Build top to back, you know, 4-8-rearing, turbo 400, trans, break the whole nine.
People trip out, and I say I got those 2700 CC injectors.
Dash 12, supply line, yeah, dash 12, fuel lines.
It's like super pipe.
Crazy.
It's gonna be a bill for sure.
And, you know, and, you know, Squirks had 200-and-a-some cars, right?
And so, you would think that, like, everyone's heard of him.
And this is what I love about this guy.
He is not in it for the attention.
So, sir.
At all, I'm surprised he agreed to do this with me, because he's really not that type of guy.
He does it for him, and he does it for the love of the name.
But I'm a fan of you, dude.

After I had driven--That's crazy.
And that was cool that that memory came up today about that.

That was 11 years ago, 13 years ago.

And that was at a drift event at the fairgrounds.
A preacher that's probably where I met Squirk for the first time.
That's where you get him.
Yeah, he's like-- I don't know.
He's one of those guys.
He's like cool, calm, collective, very personable, very humble.
And like I said, he doesn't even do stuff like this really.
He started to kind of go out of his comfort zone a little bit because he knows he is creatingbeautiful works of art and he should share them, not keep it.
And I think I recently saw an interview they just did at a car show, right?

So that's why we thought it was just so funny because I didn't even know his real name.
I like for real--Yeah, he's always been Squirk today.

So yeah, I mean, he's kind of coming out of his shell and really starting to kind ofshare what he's created, which I think is cool.
It's not about like that to him, but he understands that that is part.
It's almost like his responsibility of having what he built like that, right?

You know, like don't keep it to yourself type thing.
Right.
But he-- no, he's always been that guy that had the awesome cars like he said.
Right, right, the show cars.
Yeah.
That's all it is, man.
One of his finished builds, like their show cars for sure.
Like when he said he didn't hit V-Tec, but four times.
I was like, all right, man, like love you, bro.
But-- and I get it, though, right?
Like you, whatever.
I mean, it's not about the V-Tec.
It's about just treating the car, right?
Right.
You know, like treating the car, right?
And that's like how his stuff always is, right?
If he was beating on it, it'd be beat.
And dude, I mean, any of his cars, they have nothing to prove.
Like, you know what I mean in that sense?
Right.
And dude doesn't say--Yeah, you know what I mean?
They're going to be sick regardless because of how wellput together they are, the parts added, whatever it might be.
And maybe for him, it's just not the throttle therapy.
It's just the process that gets him there.
Instead of that quick throttle therapy thing of his hammeringon it, you know?
Right, right.
I mean, just driving some of these carsis an experience in itself.
For sure.
Yeah.
So yeah, I mean, it was really, really cool to sit down with himand kind of get his thoughts.
And he has had not as many right-hand drive carsas I thought he would have had.
He-- when he said 7, I was like, really?
Like, you checked the catalog.
Are you sure it was only 7?
You know, like--But, you know, he-- I mean, it isn't like there's just right-hand drivecars everywhere, especially back then,because I would assume that his numbers were escalating a lotwhen he was younger, right?
To get to that 200, he was flipping cars.
He was, you know, doing this or that.
So now, like he said, he's got, he figured it out.
He got his stable pretty well where he wants it.
Now he's going to find Tunewall, which is exciting too, right?
Yeah.
Because, you know, that's like the choice that you get, right?
You either get one of the cars that you love and wantand focus solely on that, like get it to 100 as quick as you can,right?
Or there are other people who get that, leave it at, you know,whatever, 10 or 15, go get the next one.
Put it next to it, go get the next one.
And then at the end, start working on, like, getting them to 100.
You know, so it's all in, like, what your strategy is.
Yeah, I never thought of it like that.
Yeah, for sure.
Like his strategy is like to just go get him and stack him and then work on them all.
You know, like which, which from the point of view of somebody who's really lookingat the market, that's definitely the strategy that wins.
Yeah.
Because you save all the money and getting them right then.
Like dude, he said he paid 12,000 for an MK4.
He paid 24,000 for the NSX.
Yeah.
He tried to buy those now, all of his mod money is gone.
Oh, yeah.
So like, by buying them all back then and being like smart about it, not just wanting thedope car right then, he saved all the money to work on them, yeah, by not buying them now.
Like dude, that's insane to me, you know, and it's right as you have to have the fourthought to understand the market like that, which he's obviously a really smart dude.
And that's why it's worked out for him.
And he does clearly have a ton of experience in just handling cars.
So that's where he would have gotten that strategy.
Here, he had figured it out long, long ago, you know, but to hear that he didn't have anyother cars on his list, really surprised me.
Yeah.
I was like, wait, what?
But then that's when I understood his strategy.
I was like, oh, you're the God of law.
Right.
You just need to work on them all.
You know, like, you know, right?
Like, and that's how that strategy goes.
And so, you know, I was like, okay, well, that is interesting.
You know, you got your drag car and then you have your muscle car.
And you know, you have these drift cars and like, you know, the 240 180, that's what hesaid he had, right?
That's 13 and 14.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I mean, I guess I get it.
He's got a long road of just working on the cars now.
Yeah, that's sick.
Yeah, because the parts price hasn't gone like, except for the rare stuff.
Yeah.
Like, bottom of the line stuff that would have been kind of the same thing five years ago.
Yeah.
It's not like insane pricing.
Yeah.
It's a good strategy to have.
And he could be stacking parts too.
Because I do some of those cars like nowadays, like 240, even at 240s.
He probably got it for $9 grand.
Probably not even that much.
Yeah, you're right.
If you got him that long ago, like, yeah, because that was like, you know, a $2,000 car10 years ago.
Oh, for sure.
That's crazy.
And that's what I mean.
And he could have been stacking parts.
So who knows?
He could have all the stuff to even go on.
These cars just waited.
He's not there yet.
That wouldn't surprise me.
Yeah, I know.
So he did talk about the Stadia.
I was a little bum.
You know, this was three weeks ago now.
So I was a little bummed.

That's probably really what kicked off our relationship when I had that Civic Type R washe wanted to genuinely genuinely know what was on the car.

That's like one of my favorite things about him is like you stand for something.

He'll just tell you what his homies do, what they can offer you if it works cool, if not,like keeps it moving, which is always sweet for sure when you got that guy that has theconnections, but isn't trying to sell you the connection.
