Ground clearance is how much space there is between the bottom of the car and the ground. More of it helps the vehicle handle rough trails without getting stuck or scraping underneath.
The New York Auto Show is a big car event where brands show off new cars. In this segment, they’re talking about how Hyundai’s reveal was set up to be a surprise.
Brake calipers are what squeeze the brake pads to slow the car down. Painting them red is mostly a style upgrade that you can often see through the wheels.
A rear spoiler is the wing-like piece on the back of a car. It’s mainly there to help the car’s airflow, and it also makes the car look more aggressive.
A facelift is a refresh of a car that usually changes the look (like the front) and may add or remove features. It’s not a brand-new model, just an update.
These are big digital screens—12.3 inches—used for the driver gauges and the main infotainment. Bigger screens can make the information easier to read.
A headrest is the padded part behind your head. It helps protect your neck, especially in a crash from behind.
Car
Lucid Sapphire
The Lucid Sapphire is a very expensive, high-performance electric car. They’re pointing out that it costs around a quarter-million dollars, so it’s in a totally different league than budget EVs.
Tow hooks are strong metal points on the car/SUV used to pull it out if it gets stuck or needs to be recovered. They’re meant for towing/recovery situations, not normal daily driving.
Two-tone means the car has two different paint colors, usually one for the body and a different one for the roof. It’s a styling choice that makes the car stand out.
Brand
VW
VW is short for Volkswagen, another car company at the show. The host is saying VW invited them, so they likely have something new to show.
“Silhouette” is basically the car’s overall outline—how it looks from far away. They’re saying the new design looks better in terms of shape and proportions.
The front fascia is the car’s front styling—mainly the bumper and grille area. When it changes, the car can look like a whole new model even if the mechanicals are similar.
Porsche is a German automaker known for sports cars and performance engineering, with a lineup that spans everything from everyday sports sedans to track-focused models. In this segment, it’s referenced as one of the major exotic brands present at the show.
Lotus is a British sports-car brand best known for lightweight engineering and handling-focused designs. The hosts list Lotus among the exotic brands on the show floor, implying a variety of performance-oriented cars are on display.
Bentley is a British luxury automaker known for high-end interiors and powerful performance, often in grand touring form. The segment groups Bentley with other premium brands present at the auto show.
LIVE
Behind the camera, I have Zach, Zach Sego, thanks Zach for this episode, because Roman
and Tommy are not here, they're in Utah still at the Easter Jeep Safari and they're playing
with jeeps and other vehicles over there and they're seeing a lot of different customizations.
But Zach, we're also seeing customizations, right?
So, alongside the Boulder SUV, we have pretty much all of Hyundai's XRT lineup.
So, I have the Tucson right here in front of me, we have the Palisade, which coincidentally,
we actually have on long-term long, so we're testing that out here.
But it's showing a little bit of the, you know, accessorized wheels, like you said,
and also a tent.
Yep, and then we have the Santa Cruz back there, and then circling around, we have the
IONIQ 5 XRT, which is all left there, right back at the Santa Fe.
So, throughout this whole display, you can see what Hyundai's current crop of off-road
capable or more off-road capable SUVs looks like, and then Boulder over there has just
taken things up to a whole new level.
Exactly, and that's exactly kind of what Brad was referring to, you know, you have
some beefier tires, but one of my complaints over the years, right, Zach, and some of our
complaints has been ground clearance was low, right?
So not quite enough.
There was no low-range gearing in some of these vehicles, right?
I mean, the Electric is a whole different game, right?
The IONIQ 5N, or I'm sorry, the IONIQ 5 XRT, I should say.
Especially the IONIQ 5N, too.
That's a whole different game altogether, right?
But it seems like they're listening, right?
I mean, this is pretty good, but if you're a true off-road enthusiast, maybe you're going
to be also looking at that Boulder SUV.
And the whole contention of Hyundai doing that, right, is like, this has evolved over
the past few years because you had your Subaru Wildernesses, your RAV4 Adventures, your, you
know, more rugged-ish crossovers, and then you had the return of the Bronco to compete
against the Jeep Wrangler, and to an extent, the Toyota 4Runner, your body on frame SUVs.
And the 4Runner's been redesigned.
Right, and that segment has just, it's red hot right now, so there is plenty of space
for another competitor in the segment.
And there's still all these people, just, it's impossible to get to the Boulder SUV.
I mean, it's always just got a ton of people next to it.
Yeah, part of the reason for that is Hyundai had an interesting approach for this New York
Auto Show, because typically what will happen with folks in the media is we'll get some
advance notice of, hey, this is what's coming, here's some details about it.
You kind of come into the show and they're prepared.
But, you know, before that was revealed, they had a whole surrounding screen there.
You couldn't see anything.
We were in a complete blackout.
So everybody was surprised, and there we go, everybody's fighting to try to get to it.
Yeah, we didn't know if it was an SUV or a pickup truck, what it was going to be called.
Yeah, I mean, everybody, you know, being in the industry, it's like, we have some ideas.
And as it turns out, some folks' ideas were spot on for exactly what it was.
There was also some sense that the Boulder, I'll finish up on this point before we move
on, was going to be kind of an evolution of the crater or a production crater, maybe.
Yeah, Tommy covered that a little while back, and that had a whole shed of XRT accessories
kind of alongside the concept.
So I was like, well, they could take that and just move forward into production, but they're
going an entirely different route.
And one other thing I wanted to mention real quick before we leave is that we don't know,
well, Hyundai confirms that this particular model is just in the concept stage for now.
We're not 100% confirmed that it is going to production.
It's kind of an exploration of what's possible with this body on frame platform.
We do know the midsize trucks coming, which you, like you said, you covered in the truck
Before the end of the decade, yes.
Right.
Before the end of the decade.
So the SCV could happen.
Will it be an EV?
I mean, given the way the wind's currently blowing, probably not, but we can't say that
with absolute certainty.
And I don't think even Hyundai's gotten 100% for that in the development.
As of this point, no technical details are out there.
Yeah.
But we are in New York City, Zach.
So I think as we're walking, as we're continuing, we got to talk about Genesis, because it's
right next door, obviously.
It's a sister brand.
It's part of the Hyundai group.
And it's also very premium.
And this is kind of what New York is about, right?
Yeah.
And full disclosure while we're at it too, Hyundai did invite me in particular out to
New York to cover the New York International Auto Show.
And part of that, because Genesis and Hyundai are sister brands included visiting Genesis
House, which is their really upscale...
Well, kind of.
It is a dealership, in a way.
Yeah.
But it's a very upscale.
And they had these different models on display.
And one of the cars that they had was this GV70.
This is something new.
Yeah.
It is the 2027 Genesis GV70 Sport.
I'm sorry, the Prestige Graphite.
There's the Sport Advance and then the Sport Prestige.
And then this Prestige Graphite is another trim option alongside that.
So you take your typical GV70 and you get dark chrome accents, kind of over on the front
fascia and the grille and the badge.
I mean, you get darker wheels.
But there's a little bit of a flake still.
There is a little bit of a flake.
So you see that you get the red painted brake calipers.
And then if you look inside...
Dude, I like the interior a lot.
Yeah.
You get the blue leather interior, suede inserts, red seat belts here, and then the
red contrast stitching, red piping, red lights, just ambient lights.
I think they did a really good and sporty job with this.
So the GV70, I mean, and it extends throughout the whole Genesis lineup, right?
They have been knocking it out of the park, as far as I'm concerned, at least with styling
both interior and exterior.
So you still get all the accoutrements that you would get with your typical GV70.
This is just a sportier.
And if you want a little bit more, I don't know, sinister, aggressive is the best way
to describe it.
Like, this is how you can get it, is with the Prestige Graphite model.
Yeah, but I think it's elegant.
I think it also will stand the test of time, Zach, you know, if I may say so.
I'm not a huge design expert, but I think because it's done in a little bit more
straightforward way, you know, the door handle is a door handle.
This switches makes sense.
The this handle is really simple, yet elegant, right?
So I think it will stay.
It should stand the test of time for a very long time.
You know, what's going to stand the test of time as far as styling goes?
The other car that Genesis has on display, which we can come over,
it might be some people kind of swarming around it here.
Yes.
This is the North American presentation, at least, of the Genesis G90 wingback concept.
Well, you probably work out just by looking at it.
You know, we're already familiar with the Genesis G90 sedan.
And this is the wagon version, and it is beautiful.
Dude, it's striking.
And I think it's you can't really tell the scope of this car.
Can I just stand next to it?
Please do.
Because it's low and it's pretty huge.
I mean, it's a very, very low center star looking, very interesting vehicle.
I mean, I think if they sold it right now, they would be successful.
What do you think?
That's the thing.
Is it a little bit too much out there?
Well, so every journalist that I've been around talking to about this car,
we all love it, you know, we on the TFL team love wagons.
We have a particular affinity.
So if you ask one of us about it, you know, should Genesis make this car?
I'm looking at it like hell, yeah, they should make it right now.
And in large quantities, that probably won't happen.
But we're rare enthusiasts, right?
And the thing is with wagons and Americans over the years, it's like we've hard
moved toward SUVs.
So yes, there there are still a few competitors left in this segment.
If Genesis were to bring a performance model like this to production.
And while we're at it, it can mention the GV 60 Macba over there.
Yeah, that is the coming this year.
It is actually coming this year.
You covered it a couple of years ago.
Yeah.
641 horsepower, more of the performance oriented, not just model,
but kind of arm of Genesis Magma is the performance section.
That lends its inspiration into this car.
But sorry, I got excited by this car
because I'm sure you just got knocked speechless for a couple of seconds.
Well, because I mean, the point I was going to make that is that
currently the M5 Touring is on sale.
Yeah, that's what I was getting at.
RS6 Audi is on sale.
RS6 Avant Avant.
And this, I think is has a lot more presence to it than any of those cars.
And that's why it's exciting.
The reason why I was walking back there and I walked into somebody else's
shot, which I apologize, is just look at the exhaust system even.
I mean, all the details are pretty special on this on this car.
I mean, it's not just that you get a couple beefy exhaust pipes.
I mean, you technically have quad pipes here.
Look, you have a huge one.
If you're watching a video, you can see it and then a smaller one there.
And that's mirrored on the other side.
So you have quad exhaust, but it's asymmetrical quad exhaust, which is also interesting.
And it's got an interesting roof element on each side.
Then you have the rear spoiler here.
And then you have another spoiler halfway down the tailgate.
Actually, you can see it a little bit better inside profile.
And then you have massive 22 inch wheels again with
beefed up brakes.
You know, if they were actually going to production, that's a 315, right?
And this cross section, this is a 255.
I mean, these are massive, too.
Yes.
So a lot to like here.
And also, I still, I mean,
there's been kind of a slowdown in electric vehicle excitement.
But I think I still really love the color of the magma.
And I think the design of this car, the GV 60.
You know what would really stand out?
I don't know if Genesis would ever actually do it for something like a G90
is take this color, this bright magma or performance orange.
And paint the G90 wing back in that color.
Like that would stand out much thing.
Yeah.
As it says, this dark green is very elegant.
Yeah, we're dreaming now.
Yeah. All right, let's keep moving.
Yeah, before we get lost in the daydream, let's keep moving.
Sorry about that.
No, no, thanks.
All right, thank you.
So anyway, I think we need to move this way because we do.
There's something at Dodge that we need to check out.
There's a giant section of ram trucks.
And if you want to see more details, you know, we love trucks, of course.
I did a special podcast about that on TFL Talking Trucks.
And also Stephen Elmer from Truck King was there.
And also Sam Abel Samet from Wheel Bearings.
So many experts, so many awesome opinions.
You definitely need to check that out.
Yeah, not just opinions, but insight as well.
Exactly, because everybody has their unique perspective, which I really like.
But every manufacturer, or at least every American-based manufacturer,
is celebrating 250 years of United States and Dodge is doing it.
Interestingly, not with the Charger 6-Pack, which is here.
I mean, if you can't see that, we recently tested the RT model.
That particular one is the 550 horsepower Scat Pack,
but they're not doing the 1850 version of that, at least not yet.
They're doing it with this Durango.
Durango GT.
So it's got some special touches.
One of the first clues, Zach, is this American flag here on the front fenders.
And it says America 250 in this kind of this dark, dark badge right there.
There is also a couple touches like the stripes on the hood.
And you could have a Hemi.
This one has a Hemi, actually, underneath the hood.
So a couple of different engine options.
And also, we need to check out the interior,
because the interior has a couple of small touches on it as well.
If you want to grab the door for me.
Which I appreciate.
See the seatbelts?
Yeah, so.
And, you know, they've been doing this in a special kind of interior.
So it's binging here.
So let me close the door, actually.
They're doing the jailbreak edition of the Hellcat, right?
It's right next to us, right here.
And that's where they kind of experimented with different combinations, right?
I think there's the whole idea behind jailbreak as the name would imply is go nuts.
Yeah, seven million different combinations.
Yeah, so you pay a fee.
Essentially, it's unlocked the jailbreak.
I think it's six ninety five, seven ninety five, something like that.
And then you get opened up into a vast array of additional kind of personalization touches.
So things like the yellow painted brake calipers, the yellow Hellcat badge,
things of that nature.
Then, of course, you still get seven hundred and ten horsepower.
Yeah, six point two liter supercharged V eight in a family SUV.
It's just insane.
I mean, every application where they've done that,
be it the Durango or, you know,
rest in peace, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trock Hawk is like every time you drive these cars,
you just laugh like an idiot.
Like it is so ridiculous.
It's awesome.
The engine sounds amazing.
That supercharger wine is incredible.
So they're kind of picking up where they kind of left off, right?
With this addition, because they like customization to begin with.
Right. Right.
So this is exactly how they celebrate.
And you can see that big hallway, you know, they're celebrating America right there.
But, you know, what else is being celebrated is the minivan.
The Pacific has been refreshed.
It just made its debut here at the show.
That's 2027 Chrysler Pacifica.
Yes. And let's kind of let's just briefly show it.
I did kind of a deep dive video into this.
But you could see it.
I told TFL on TFL Now channel as well.
This, the red one, let me remember.
This is the pinnacle.
The pinnacle of their lineup.
And this one features, I believe it's called Blue Agave.
The name of the Napa leather interior color.
Look at the seat surfaces and also the piping as well.
Yeah. So this blue hue with the contrast, piping and stitching.
This particular color scheme is exclusive to the top end pinnacle trim.
And then the rest of the changes.
And also a couple of copper accents right here as well throughout the interior.
But you might notice looking at it inside, at least,
is apart from the new interior color.
Broadly speaking, the 2027 Chrysler Pacifica looks the same as before.
There is the new shield or sorry, wing Chrysler wing.
Yeah, it's now all over the place because it's in the front.
It's in the back.
Yeah, let me cover it on the.
So you get it on the steering wheel.
You get it back here on the tailgate and then you get it on the front.
And the front is really the the news part, the headline of the 2027
Chrysler Pacifica.
So the front end has been completely redesigned.
So you get again, the new Chrysler wing badge, full width LED lights,
vertical headlight elements.
And this is all integrated together.
You know, keys, piano keys.
Do you see me playing the piano?
Yes, you're way more talented than I will ever be playing.
No, no, my sister is actually the musician, not me.
So so yeah, you know what?
I think that is a good job of the front redesigned on this.
What do you think?
Yeah, looks wise.
I mean, it is it is a little bit sportier, a little bit more aggressive.
I don't know if cooler is the word to use for a minivan.
I mean, for some folks that can't be cool for others and not so much.
But here's another version of it.
And you know, what else is, of course, still here is the Stoen Go.
The staple that is Stoen Go.
So that is still here.
One thing that's also worth mentioning.
This particular facelift is only available on certain trims of the 2027 Pacifica.
Which is most of them, actually.
It's most of them.
It's the select, the limited and the pinnacle.
Yes, if you get the LX and it doesn't look like they have the LX here,
but they do have this off-road build, the grizzly build of the Pacifica here.
So if you get the LX, you get the pre-facelift that is this front end.
Or it was also called the Voyager before.
Yeah, so it's kind of the base base.
So the Voyager has been folded back into the Pacifica
name-plate by way of the base LX trim, which starts at $41,795 before destination.
No, it's $495.
$495, I'm sorry.
Yes, it's still in my head.
$41,495 in 1995 destination.
I apologize for my mistake on that.
Which is not the most, I think, affordable on the entire.
Because there is the Kia caravan.
There is...
Carnival.
Did they say caravan?
Yeah, Dodge did the caravan.
Yeah, see, okay.
See, we're correct at each other.
There's a Sienna and there's an Odyssey, of course.
Correct.
But still, it's in the meat of that market.
And you know what?
Pacifica was the best-selling minivan in the country in 2025.
So don't discount them.
Even though it is Chrysler's sole remaining model,
because the 300 has been gone for a couple of years.
The 200 has obviously been gone for much longer than that.
But it's still a popular model,
as far as keeping Chrysler going.
I mean, that is the engine.
Okay, so really quickly,
we're not gonna go over a lot of Jeep products
because Tommy and Roman have been on fire.
Hello, hi, good to see you.
They've been really on fire in Utah, right?
And not literally, but they've been publishing
many, many videos about everything Easter Jeep Safari.
And of course, Jeep is in a big way here
with their Grand Wagoneers
and the full lineup of Grand Cherokees.
Even the Cincocento Fiat is here, way back in there.
It's a pretty little Cincocento too,
and obviously way back there,
right next to the Cincocento, they have the new 500E.
Yeah, and there's also some luxury automakers.
There's a group of like Mercedes, BMW cars.
So a lot of the brands are represented here.
Even if they don't necessarily have debuts at the show,
as far as luxury, Mark's got Lincoln's here.
Lincoln's here, yeah.
So you need to have the other full lineup,
Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator, Navigator.
Yes, also Lucid has a presence.
So Lucid has a booth with several vehicles
right here on the right.
They were one of the World Car Award winners this week
here in New York City with their Gravity SUV.
So that's pretty nice to see.
So where do we head to next, Andre?
All right, I forgot.
Oh, you know what?
Dude, Kia showed us two cars today.
They did, I think we should probably go check those out.
Yeah, let's do it.
Cause I heard this, we haven't spent much,
I personally haven't spent much time in this side yet,
but the Seltos is redesigned, dude, for 2027.
So just as a refresher, the sole, the base crossover
is departing after they actually did with the 2025 model.
Oh, sad.
So the Seltos is the compact SUV sitting below
the Sportage, the Sorento and the Tyre, right?
So in the pecking order,
this one's at the lower end, the smaller end.
And they debuted a redesigned 2027 model this morning.
And we see two examples of that right here, right?
Correct.
And we have, particularly in the front end,
a major change from the old Seltos.
So you get an upright grille,
you get these vertical running lights,
and you actually get another set in here
with the headlights integrated
into the more upright grille design,
which is similar to the 2027 Telluride,
which is over there, we'll walk by that.
Kind of the double amber light here on each side of the front.
You know what, I think it's really attractive, actually.
It's kind of upright, it's kind of bold.
Yeah, Kia has been doing what it calls
opposites united design language.
So it's meant to evoke, like, what's up?
Well, just, yeah, yeah.
It looks good, dude.
Yeah, basically what I was getting at
is that it accentuates these kind of evocative lines,
creases, angles, like, it's meant to catch your eye,
and it certainly does when you look at,
I mean, any of its models, be it the Telluride, this,
the updated Sorento.
So, and then, today they were specifically focused
on the ICE models, so if we could...
Internal combustion?
Potentially, yeah, I'll get,
if you wouldn't mind pulling the hood for me.
Okay.
So there are two powertrains available
with the ICE, ICE Celtos.
You could kind of focus on the turbo there.
Yeah, on the X line trim, the top end trim,
you get a 1.6 liter turbo as an option,
with 190 horsepower, 195 pound-feet of torque,
made it to an eight-speed automatic transmission,
the alternative, on the lower end models,
the LS, the S, the EX, and the X line as well.
You get a two-liter with 147 horsepower,
made it to a CVT, or an IVT,
an intelligent variable transmission, as Kia calls it.
And then, as far as the interior styling
is concerned with the new Celtos,
you might notice this is a little bit familiar
if you've seen Kia's other recently updated models
in the compact segment, not necessarily SUVs,
but like the K4, you know, has this same kind of...
Horizontal screen and stuff?
Yeah, so horizontal screens in the upper-end models,
at least, you get two 12.3-inch displays,
one for the gauge cluster,
one as your center infotainment screen,
and then there's a five-inch unit
between the two for your climate controls.
So, that's what you will see on the upper-end models.
And then, if we go to the back,
so the new Celtos is physically larger than the old one,
so it's longer overall, it's wider,
it sits on a longer wheelbase,
and as we're talking about, it did grow up a little bit,
so the cargo volume is improved from the previous model.
And yeah, generally speaking,
you just have a little bit more space,
even though it's still not quite as large as the Sportage.
So, and we also have kind of an off-roading concept in there,
over there on that side that we could show in a minute,
but there's a lot of music blaring from the...
So, we're not gonna go there immediately,
but dude, I just wanted to say that it does look...
It visually looks bigger than the new Celtos,
and I think I kind of appreciate that, right?
I'm getting a little bit bigger in my old age.
We are.
And so, you know, there's...
Actually, let me try this.
Let me get in.
Let me get in.
How you do in the back seat.
Oh, that's awesome.
I feel comfortable.
I have headroom.
This has a panoramic sunroof, dude.
That's another interesting option for a small SUV.
Or like a little bit downmarket SUV, right?
Oh, actually, I actually show this really quick.
The headrest, kind of see-through,
there's a little bit of a mesh,
and it feels really, really soft.
Yeah, let me come around to the front here.
I can show that from the front seat as well.
Check it out. It feels really soft.
You know, one thing I appreciate about this kind of design, too,
is how far the headrests or the front seats stick out.
So, you can actually lean your head back against them.
Like some high-end cars will have adjustable headrests
where you can move them forward.
Yes.
Obviously, a lot of lower-end cars don't have that.
So, the headrests, it's good for whiplash protection,
but apart from that, you can actually use it a lot
in everyday driving.
But you know what?
Wow, Zach.
You also sit pretty low when you adjusted the seat just now.
Yeah, just adjusted the seat.
Somebody was a little bit shorter than me in here before.
But, dude, you know, my head feels cushioned.
You know, like a Mercedes pillow would be?
But this is not a pillow.
It's just kind of a different way of doing this.
And it feels really good, actually.
Another thing worth noting while we're here
kind of looking at front seat and side profile
is the new 2027 Kia Seltos
gets more ground clearance than the old model did.
It's at 8.1 inches instead of 7.4, like the old one.
So, you know, it's not...
At least this particular one, again,
there's the kind of off-road build over there.
And when the music dies down, which it sounds like it is,
we could walk over there in a second.
But even in normal, everyday driving,
like you can make use of better ground clearance,
particularly in the snow.
So, and obviously this is still available
with all little drive.
So that is particularly useful.
And 8.1 is kind of the baseline these days
for most crossovers.
That's where most crossovers sit.
Speaking of snow, I went to Sweden in the winter time
to do, to actually drive a prototype of a Kia EV3.
This was a couple years back.
And look at this.
It's here as a 2027 model.
It actually made its formal debut in New York.
Exactly. So, it's finally coming.
Of course, it takes a manufacturer several years, months.
You know, to get everything all the ducks in a row, right?
Yeah.
There's now, you know, tariff situation.
It depends on where it's built,
where the components come from, right?
All that stuff.
And now the EV3 is coming to USA.
And just to go through kind of the headline specs on this.
So, it is a 400 volt electrical architecture.
You can get it as a dual motor all-wheel drive setup.
There are two battery sizes, depending on the models.
It's 58, around 58, and I'll say 81.
Apologies if I'm slightly off on numbers on that.
Trim's mirror the larger EV9.
So, you start off at light, and then wind, and then GT line.
And then this has, like the EV6, the mid-range EV,
performance-oriented GT model.
It's up to 288 horsepower.
So, I'm not exactly set your hair on fire
like the EV6 GT will, but it's still...
But I'll take a niece through.
No, with an EV this size, I mean,
that'll get you along pretty nicely.
So, a couple other things to mention.
It's up to 320 miles of range, depending on the model.
That's the maximum range.
And also, NACS charging.
Standards, built-in, and the export, yeah.
You know what I wanted to say about this car also?
Well, I saw how they developed it, right?
So, that was really cool to get in the mind space
of all the developers, designers, and engineers.
But also, there's kind of a resurgence
of small electric cars right now,
and I know everybody says,
oh, wait, Andre, what are you talking about?
Yeah, did Honda just cancel their EVs, et cetera, et cetera, yeah.
But Toyota hasn't canceled anything yet.
I mean, they're coming out with their small CHR, for example.
Yeah.
Let's walk around this way.
So, there's the CHR, there's still the new PZ.
They're even going bigger and doing the Highlander,
to compete with the likes of the EV9.
Yes, there's a new Bolt from Chevrolet.
That's on sale right now.
Even if it's only back for a limited time,
they did bring it back.
There's this now.
But the most important thing is not the charging rate,
it's not the horsepower, it's not even the range,
it's the price, right?
And as long as you get the,
if I was gonna buy this, I would get the smaller battery,
probably front wheel drive, because I always have a truck.
Yeah.
Right, I don't need this car to do everything for me.
So, you can't actually have an affordable EV,
that's the idea with this, yeah.
We walk by those Lucid cars, they're very impressive.
I didn't directly point it out,
but the one closest to us as we were walking by Lucid,
is there Sapphire, that's a quarter million dollar EV.
So, yeah, this isn't anywhere,
this is on an entirely different planet, so that.
Just like 30 to $35,000 range, approximately, right?
Yeah.
So, that's what's most exciting for me,
when I see this type of car.
We also showed this, this is a PB5,
all electric van architecture,
but we showed it with Sam on our auto podcast.
So that's also.
We'll still take a quick look at it here.
Yeah, it's kind of an exciting proposition,
because it's very modular.
So, you guys, you and Roman,
particularly looked at the weekender concept,
where it was sort of like a camper, yeah.
And then here, in collaboration with BraunAbility,
it's presented as a New York City cab.
So, maximum passenger configuration,
maximum versatility, exactly, wheelchair accessible.
Yes, right here.
And I also wanted to show this version of the Seltos,
which is over here.
This one is lifted a bit.
I think this is just a concept for now, right?
Yeah.
So, it's interesting to see where Key is thinking,
even with it's more kind of everyday crossovers.
I mean, obviously not everybody buys a Seltos.
Is it gonna lift it?
It's gonna, yeah, lift it, throw,
you know, Toyota Open Country all terrain,
three tires on it, you know.
It might, you know, put some canoes on the roof,
and that's a, it's just air kayak, I'm sorry.
I've got into boating it also.
I like power boats also,
but you're not gonna put it on the roof of this one.
But it actually shows the possibility, right?
It's kind of neat, it's kind of neat to see.
And also there's a row of new tele rides here.
Anything from HEV to, you know,
hybrids and the rest?
One quick thing,
I think I already mentioned it a little earlier on
when we were over there,
but we were strictly looking at the ice Seltos models.
There is a Seltos hybrid coming.
In fact, I think if we wanna sneak over here real quick.
Can we see it there?
We can actually see it.
So let's take a walk over here.
So you have the off-road build here,
then you have a little bit of a wall,
and then you have this Seltos.
And if you go around to the back end,
you can see a deed right here on the Seltos badge.
It is HEV.
So there is a hybrid model that does exist.
It is going to launch in Q4.
So a little bit later?
A little bit later than the gas models.
The gas models are coming first.
So we don't have pricing.
There aren't too many specifics
about this particular Seltos yet,
but we will have this in due course.
So I just wanted to mention that.
That's nice.
And then also, I mean,
Tommy just went out and drove the new Telluride, right?
So for 2027, he's got this going on.
I mean, they have a full display
of all the different models.
I actually like this color.
So the new sand color here.
Yeah, and specifically this one is the X-Pro.
Yes.
So it's similar to the XRT, or XRT Pro.
The Palisade, yeah.
On the Palisade side.
And you have the tow hooks here,
kind of recovery points that are painted.
But once again, it's a little bit more mild.
It's not a boulder.
I'm going to keep saying that name, Zach.
You're going to keep saying it
because you want Hyundai to do it.
You want that name to stick.
Yes.
So, even though this is pretty nice,
I mean, the ground clearance is still,
could be a small challenge on this particular one.
I think, and there's a certain level of compromise
you need to have there, right?
In order to still say,
hey, this is an everyday family SUV.
You can just feasibly drive it around,
use it to get to school, the rest of it.
Still have decent practicality.
Still have decent drivability on the road
without completely ruining it.
Because you could jack it up to the sky
and make it more capable off-road,
for all the good that does,
for the relatively few people who do it.
But you're compromising it for 98%
of the people who are going to buy it.
So are you right of any spec X-Pro or not?
Exactly.
And that's what cars like the Boulder are meant to,
that's the void they're meant to fill,
like the segment they're meant to fill.
So if you want a proper off-roader,
then you go for something like that.
You go for Wrangler, Bronco, et cetera.
Now, we are, I'm walking us through a Toyota booth.
They have a humongous space here as well.
They're not really kind of showing anything super brand new.
But they do have a massive footprint.
It's almost like they're the world's largest automaker.
Which they might be, actually, still, yes.
But also in this space, we have a lot of,
well, for example, the CHR that I mentioned.
Which you were talking about earlier, right?
So this is their electric entry into the electric space.
And it's a little bit more swoopy, right?
So it's a little bit more curvaceous, maybe,
then a little bit more blocky EV3 from Kia.
But still, the interior is quite nice.
This is looking good.
And also at the top end,
because, again, you can get this as a dual motor,
which the old CHR, obviously,
not only was it not electric, it was not all-wheel drive.
So this actually gives you the option of all-wheel drive.
And this thing is a little bit of a pocket rocket,
because at the top end, it has a similar power output
to the BZ right there, which is,
in the upper 300s.
Yeah, which is massive.
Yeah.
Which is a massive power number.
And also over there, there's some trucks.
We didn't really touch on those in our other show,
but they're showing some of their latest colors, right?
So let's take a quick glimpse.
Because one of the things I think we can mention,
yeah, while we're walking through the Toyota space,
that the last time we did a podcast together,
I think it was in New York as well,
that I complained about,
oh, they need to redo the forerunner,
because it's been a couple of years
since the last time we've done that.
Well, it's right there.
Yeah, so finally, for 2025 model year,
obviously, you guys know,
they finally redesigned the forerunner.
We have a sixth generation forerunner.
And for the 2026 model year in particular,
they have the WaveMaker signature color.
Yeah, which is still, I'm not sure if I love it
or don't love it.
What do you think, Zach, seeing it in person?
Seeing it in person,
and this isn't the first time I've seen it in person either,
it's bright, it's vibrant.
Voodoo blue is one of, and that was 2019, TRD Pro color,
was one of my favorites.
It's a few shades brighter this color.
It's a few shades brighter than that.
But yeah, I like it.
I wished we would all stop being so boring
when it comes to, especially when you're spending
upwards of 70,000, assuming you can get one of these
at MSRP, spending upwards of $70,000
for either this or the trail hunter.
Yes.
And just getting it in black or gray,
no offense to the folks who do want to get it
in darker colors.
I mean, I can understand reasons why you would.
But they have an option to do a different color.
Or just get it in white, exactly.
And it's kind of the same thing
with the Land Cruiser over there.
Yeah, they've done a good job with the colors.
Yeah.
So, and we actually recently purchased
a Land Cruiser that looks much like this.
And we threw some bigger tires on it, actually.
Yeah, precisely.
It is.
And I just wanted to point it out
because we have the Monerani here.
It is heritage blue.
And the roof is kind of a two-tone.
Yeah, so that's really nice.
So yeah, Toyota's here.
And also full disclosure,
VW invited me here to the show.
And they're showing something
that I did a separate video about,
which is really cool.
They completely redesigned their Atlas,
which is one of their biggest sellers.
So it's actually their number two best-selling vehicle.
Behind the Tiguan, yeah.
Behind the Tiguan.
And it might be now their best
because I want to push it up because it looks good.
They have something going on right now,
but here's Zach, we could see them on the side.
Yeah.
Right now.
So it's all new sheet metal, new interior.
The engine has been updated.
It's the two-liter, but it now has more power,
282 horsepower in this particular one.
Let's walk around this way.
And they're showing it here
in a couple of different colors.
This color that's closer to us,
it's called Sacramento green,
which is actually kind of changes colors once in a while.
Yeah, it's depending on the angle you're pointing at it from.
It doesn't look particularly green, does it?
No, it could be like a little bit more gray,
or there's something else going on.
Yeah, exactly.
So it still totes 5,000 pounds.
It will start in the base model.
Let's walk around here.
You can keep going through the rest of it.
I'm forgetting the price.
Well, so, go ahead.
No.
I did forget it.
Well, so we have a full video.
Actually, they didn't announce the price.
That's why I'm forgetting it,
because they didn't announce it.
So we'll have that information in due time.
I was just going to mention
that you do have a full video
we published to our TFL Now channel,
so you can get far more details on the Atlas,
like Andre said.
They've got a little shindig going on here.
What do you think about the silhouette?
I mean, I think they improved it.
I think it looks quite a bit better, actually.
It does.
It looks a little bit more stately,
I think, is the word you can use for, particularly.
It does look a little bit more wagony,
a little bit more of a substantial family SUV,
not necessarily that the old Atlas wasn't,
but it has more presence this time around,
particularly with the way the rear ends changed,
with the new rear light design,
also the front fascia.
So, I mean, like anything else,
as it goes through the generations, right?
Because we were stuck for a while
with the first-generation Atlas.
It was facelifted, right?
It was facelifted twice, once for 21.
So it originally came out 2018, and then...
2017, maybe as a 2018 model, yes.
And then it was facelifted for 21,
and then again for 24, and now we have this new one.
Even though some suspension components are the same, right?
The look is different, the interior is way different,
it's now more in line, excuse us,
it's more in line with the Tiguan,
as far as some of the interior features,
and the fresh front end as well.
But Zach, I think we need to snake around here.
Kind of around about way, yeah.
And go check out, because there is a lot of news.
I really wanna, I think, end on a strong note,
because we need to go to Chevrolet.
Let's do it.
And also, I'm excited about this new Z-car, actually.
Yeah, we should take our way around to that.
And also, while we're still at Volkswagen,
couple things I wanted to mention.
The ID buzz here, so it is still on display
at the New York Auto Show.
Volkswagen paused production on the ID buzz
for the rest of 2026 model year.
But it's not canceled.
Officially from Volkswagen, no, it's not canceled.
Yeah, so you can see it here.
The thing about it is, and we have one, right,
so it is in this color, too.
Very comfortable, very big.
It is a comfortable van,
and then it's a fun, corky little thing.
It's all smiles with the ID buzz.
The thing about it is, it's expensive.
And I think that was one of the big deals.
That was one of the things that kinda slowed down adoption.
Plus, you know, a particular car,
you know, always commands a particular kind of buyer,
and there are a certain number of folks
who would go for something like an ID buzz,
and it may not be enough, at least for now,
and we'll see if, when Volkswagen does bring it back,
what the situation's gonna be then.
Look at this towels, and I like this green dude, actually.
It's a little bit strange, maybe?
Yeah.
But I think I really appreciate it.
It looks kind of interesting.
So, again, not a new debut here at the 26th New York Auto Show,
but the towels was recently redesigned.
One of the things they also did, too,
was get rid of the DSG transmission.
So now it's just eight speed across the board,
and that has improved its drivability dramatically
from the pre-facelift towels.
So, you know, even for an entry level SUV,
and it does have a little bit of a premium price tag
coming from VW, but it's a nice little car.
Okay, Zach.
Now we come to the Andre's Dream Garage.
Portion of this section of the podcast,
and we're looking at a Lamborghini Temerario here,
in yellow, in Lambo yellow.
And it's plugged in because it's a...
It is a plug-in hybrid.
It's a hybrid, yeah.
So, okay, so I haven't driven it.
This is almost like my first time
actually seeing it in person,
but I think it looks really good.
What do you think?
The stubby rear end?
Yeah, you can't look at, you know,
really any modern Lamborghini,
but particularly this and say, you know,
that isn't striking, that isn't cool.
I wouldn't want one of the, like, no.
It looks very desirable still.
It is, exactly.
It looks awesome.
Yeah, especially the exposed rear tire.
You know what?
It could break some windshields, I think.
Well, I mean, you're gonna outpace everything out there
to such an extent it's not gonna matter.
You're gonna be a mile ahead of everybody else, aren't you?
Actually, those tires look burnt.
Do you see that?
Yeah, they look a little roached,
so whoever did, right, we haven't driven it,
but whoever did drove it in a very spirited fashion.
What you should absolutely do is a Lamborghini.
A Eurus SE, is it?
The quote, practical Lamborghini,
although it is also in bright green here,
which again, especially if you're gonna buy a car like this,
you know, several hundred thousand dollars, you know.
I like that color.
You want to get it in bright color.
You want to get it in yellow.
You want to get it in green.
I suppose you could get it in gray,
like this, you know, Revuelto here.
I mean, if you're bold, well, not bold,
because I expect this car to be bright.
And to not do it?
I mean, it is already kind of overstated
as just being a Lamborghini with,
how much horsepower does the Revuelto have altogether?
Because again, it is a hybrid.
It might as well have a thousand.
I mean, it's just...
It is pretty close to it, actually.
It's maybe not a thousand, but yeah.
I mean, okay, let's come down to earth.
But if you want to see some of the exotics,
you know, several exotics.
Yeah, not just Lamborghini, but also Porsche.
There's Conor Zeg, Zanvo.
Lotus is here, Bentley and Rolls Royce.
Yeah, so they're all...
So they're here.
Pretty much as you come on to the show floor.
But let's come down to earth, Zach.
Okay.
And so Nissan Z maybe is not the best-selling vehicle
out there, but I think they're making it better,
still, with this.
I think we can...
I'll open door for you if you want.
I mean, let me walk around.
They're adding a manual transmission, right, Zach?
To your Z.
Finally, thank you.
God.
Actually, I'll take the camera from you.
Okay.
There it is.
Yes.
So for 2027, yeah, six-speed manual option
finally coming to the Nismo.
It's no longer nine-speed automatic only.
You can still get it with a nine-speed automatic,
but a lot of die-hard enthusiasts.
And yes, that includes me.
I am very much in the Save the Manuals camp.
Appreciate having access to a six-speed option.
And the Nismo particularly,
so you still have a twin-turbo V6.
It's now 420 horsepower, 384 pound-feet of torque.
So it's more potent than the Sport or the Performance.
And then you also get the styling
and the aerodynamic elements that are unique to the Nismo.
You get the acrobot brakes.
Yes.
Yeah, the red touch is nice.
This is a signature color combination for the ZNismo.
The last one we had, I think it was white,
which is also, I mean, I was complaining about people
buying white, black, gray cars and more colors.
There are some applications where it does work again,
and it all comes down to your preference.
So if you like a white car or a black car,
whatever you buy, and think, oh, he's just an idiot,
that's totally fine.
I totally get it.
If that's your preference, it's all good.
But this gray and red combination, it also works.
I mean, it's good contrast there, right?
I appreciate it.
And the interior, there is also some contrast there.
We just showed it.
Yeah.
So it's really, really cool.
So we talked a little bit about Nissan SUVs and trucks
in our other podcast for TFL Talking Trucks.
They have a Pro 4x Roush, the suspension lifted one.
They have several armadas.
And also big news is that they confirm
XTERRA will be coming, right?
So we don't-
And probably they didn't confirm exact launch timeframe,
but we're all suspecting 2028 model year.
So possibly-
We still haven't seen it.
Yeah.
So it's not here.
Maybe about a year from now,
we're hoping is when we'll finally get some details there.
But it's super welcome.
Talking about the boulder,
talking about everything else that we've said.
I mean, like I was saying earlier,
the market is just red hot for these body on frame,
seriously off-road capable SUV.
Jeep stuck with it, with the Wrangler.
Ford brought back the Bronco,
speaking of which we're coming up on the Ford booth now.
Well, we have to talk about the RTR.
Yeah.
Which is the latest Bronco.
Exactly, not just any Bronco,
but the 2027 Bronco RTR.
Yeah.
So we got some exterior shots of this car
a little while ago.
And now we actually have-
They just locked it.
Well, they locked it.
It's unfortunate.
They do have interior shots now.
Yeah.
So we have a story about it on our website.
We also showed it in our other podcast, Zach.
So, but the RTR is really,
it's a collaboration of two companies, right?
RTR is a separate company,
and there is also Lime Green.
Do you see that kind of accent on the inside throughout?
Yeah.
But it's basically a Sasquatch-equipped suspension
Ford Bronco 4-door in this case,
with some customized touches,
including the slight signature, kind of the vertical blade.
And we also showed the interior of it in our other podcast.
So that's here.
Ford has another humongous area here.
And over there in the back,
they're celebrating,
they went back to Nürburgring, right?
With the Mustang GTD.
Not the Bronco.
Not the Bronco.
But the, yeah, $325,000 plus Mustang GTD,
the most balling as badass,
you know, 810, 815 horsepower.
And they got a better unofficial time.
So official time before, just for context,
was six minutes, 52, it's a change.
Now, what is the unofficial time
that they just got it down to?
641, which is, they shaped about nine seconds
approximately off that time.
And they also, unofficially,
and they also, that would beat actually
some of the latest Corvettes, right?
So here it is, you can kind of see this background
for this car.
By the way, look at the color theme, America.
Red, white, and blue, baby.
Yes.
And actually, while we're on the subject,
it is the GTD spirit of America.
Yes.
So, but Zach, we just walked by two special cars.
We did.
That we should not have walked by,
because right here, flanking the GTD,
actually, are two dark horse SCs, supercharged cars.
Here's a red one, for example, on this side.
And Zach, I was in Detroit when they unveiled this car,
and they revved it for me, and I was,
first of all, my ears were hurting a tiny bit,
but I was in heaven.
The noises.
This is Nirvana, right?
I haven't really heard the GTD at full boil, granted.
But this exhaust, can you show this?
It's like vertical, rectangular, trapezoidal, quad exhaust.
This is something else.
And then I was pricing for this, right?
It's just a little bit over 100K,
so I need to start saving, I think.
I think you do.
I mean, and for context, yes, that is a lot of money,
particularly for a Mustang, but it's only a third of the GTD,
so you could buy three of these for one of those.
Yeah, we can get one for you, Roman, and Tommy.
Yes, and Cole, maybe, also.
And you, of course, Zach.
Anyways, so I think Mustangs are still here.
And also Jim Farley, he said that don't expect
the manual transmission to go away anytime soon,
which is a really good thing.
Yeah.
So, but Zach, I think we have to end,
as much as I want a supercharged dark horse,
I think I want the next car even more.
Do you see where I'm going?
Ooh, my anticipation, I do.
Well, let's show the folks watching,
and we'll explain to the folks listening
in a second where we're going.
So we're heading towards the Chevrolet booth, okay?
So Chevrolet has also a very giant space here,
very similar to some of the other major manufacturers.
And we're going, because they did unveil,
they unveiled this car before, but it's here at the show.
It's the new.
This is the first auto show debut of this car.
Yes.
And we still have to keep walking just one more second.
We're almost there.
The anticipation, can you feel it?
Yes.
It's a 2027 Corvette Grand Sports.
There she is.
Wow, there's music here.
They're also celebrating 250, American 250.
Yeah, so there's the American 250,
and you also covered this at the truck podcast.
They also did it along, you know, all those trucks there.
But this is, from a car perspective,
the headline feature from the Chevrolet booth,
the new 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport,
packing a completely new VA,
which they actually have a unit here that you can look at.
Oh, sorry.
That's a zero one X, five point.
It's okay.
You would expect it too.
Yeah.
But all these engines are amazing, Zach.
I mean.
So just for context, yeah,
that is the five and a half liter
that's at the zero one and the zero one X.
Yes.
The new engine for the Grand Sport is the LS6,
a six point seven liter short block V8.
Yes.
So. Wow.
In normal Grand Sport, so there are two,
that was a little surprising.
There were two Grand Sport debuts.
They have the normal Corvette Grand Sport,
which is exactly how much horsepower again,
Andre, in the naturally aspirated 535.
So a mere, a mere 535 horsepower
from that six generation small block.
VA.
VA.
But then there's an X, right?
In the same spirit as the ZR1X,
which the standard ZR1,
without any electrification that has 1064 horsepower,
electrification takes that up to 1,250.
So in the Grand Sport X,
you get the LS6 V8 plus an electric motor on the front,
186 horsepower electric motor,
in addition to the VA,
and that takes total horsepower up to 721,
which is, yeah, exactly, mind blown.
Mind blown.
And it also eliminates the e-ray, right?
People really liked the e-ray for what it was,
but a lot of people didn't like the name.
And I wasn't one of those people,
but apparently people didn't like the e in that name.
So...
I mean, when you're talking about one of America's
most beloved sports cars,
it makes sense.
And Grand Sport name, unlike e-ray, has history.
Yes.
You know, it extends all the way back to the C2.
So it's been with us for decades and decades and decades
throughout multiple Corvette generations.
And here we are now in the C8,
the mid-engine Corvette era,
with a new Grand Sport model.
So...
Yeah.
That one is definitely one of the cars you want to check out
if you're coming to the New York Auto Show this year.
And also this blacked out 01X.
Of course, it looks very sinister,
very, very, very interesting as well.
And I love that they have an additional color, Zach.
They have an actual palette instead of a grayscale.
Yeah, exactly.
So that's really, really cool.
And Shelby's been pretty good about that too with...
I mean, not just with its signature cars,
either be it the Corvette or formerly
like the Corvette and the Camaro,
but even more of its everyday cars,
it has in kind of brighter colors
as we've been talking about,
it's ended up with a recurring theme
throughout this podcast.
Yeah.
Well, for example,
there's not a lot of color in the truck section.
It's all kind of white, gray, and there's a blue one.
Yeah.
So I think we need more color.
Yeah, Shelby's deal with the America 250 package,
you know, for various trucks, you know,
they can do it from the Colorado
all the way up through the Heavy Duty,
they do the Silverado EV as well,
is they're all white, basically.
Ram has the AT-50 package as well,
not here at the show that we could see,
but they do have red, white, and blue options, yeah.
Yes.
So yeah, so we showed you basically the entire space
except we didn't show downstairs.
So downstairs there is a test track for electric vehicles.
You could still do that.
You could check that out.
Also there's a custom section
where they have super hot, you know,
classic cars, and tuner cars, and restomods,
and overlanders, so you could still see that downstairs
in that space as well.
So even we've spent almost the past hour,
including our interview with Brad,
that's well over an hour,
and there's still way more to go.
So plenty to see here at the 2026 New York Auto Show.
And the resurgence of the affordable electric car, Zach.
How could we not actually talk about the bolt?
Yeah, Nathan and I recently went on the media drive
for the Revived Bolt out in California.
So we did a walk around video on the CFL Now channel.
We did a full drive video,
and the drive includes not just actual impressions
of what it's like, but charging,

About this episode
Hyundai’s NY Auto Show surprises kick things off with the off-road-focused XRT lineup and the wild Boulder concept—built to address past complaints like low ground clearance and limited low-range capability, though it’s still only confirmed as a concept. The crew then tours Genesis (GV70 Prestige Graphite and the striking G90 wingback wagon), Dodge’s 250th-anniversary Durango and Hellcat “Jailbreak” customization, and Chrysler’s refreshed 2027 Pacifica with a redesigned front end. Kia highlights the redesigned 2027 Seltos and the coming EV3. The episode ends with Nissan’s Z Nismo finally getting a 6-speed manual option and Chevrolet’s new 2027 Corvette Grand Sport (including an electrified Grand Sport X).

In this episode of TFL Car Chat, Andre Smirnov and Producer Zach take over the floor of the 2026 New York Auto Show while Roman and Tommy are away at the Easter Jeep Safari. The duo dives deep into the Hyundai and Genesis displays, which are dominated by rugged concepts and stunning luxury reveals. Zach gives us an up-close look at the Hyundai Boulder SUV, a body-on-frame powerhouse that signals a major shift for the brand into the serious off-road segment. They also explore Hyundai’s expanded XRT lineup, including the all-electric Ioniq 5 XRT and the updated Tucson, debating whether these "soft-roaders" finally have the ground clearance and hardware to satisfy true enthusiasts.
The conversation then shifts to the premium side of the Javits Center with the North American debut of the Genesis G90 Magma Concept. Andre and Zach are left nearly speechless by the striking presence of this low-slung performance wagon, comparing its "sinister" elegance to heavy hitters like the BMW M5 Touring and Audi RS6 Avant. From the asymmetrical quad exhaust to the massive 22-inch wheels, they break down why this might be the most beautiful car at the show. Finally, the guys check out the "America 250" celebrations from Dodge and Chrysler, featuring the 710-hp Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak and the refreshed 2027 Chrysler Pacifica, before rounding out the day with the debut of the affordable Kia EV3.
