They’re talking about routine maintenance for your car’s transmission. It usually involves checking or changing the transmission fluid so the parts stay lubricated and cool. If you never do it, the transmission can wear out faster and repairs can get very expensive.
“Pre-owned” just means used cars. The upside is you can often find a better deal, but you should still check the car’s history and make sure it’s in good shape before buying.
“In-house financing” means the dealership helps you get a loan to buy the car. Before you sign, it’s smart to compare the interest rate and total cost so you know you’re getting a good deal.
“In-house leasing” means the dealership helps set up your lease. Even if it’s easier, you should still look closely at the monthly payment, fees, and what happens at the end of the lease.
A drive-through is when you pull up to order and pick up food without getting out. It’s a situation where it’s easy to get distracted, so the reminder is to keep your eyes on the road.
Vehicle maintenance refers to the ongoing upkeep tasks that keep systems operating within normal parameters—often tracked as a checklist by mileage or time. For listeners, the key takeaway is that maintenance is actionable and can be managed without being a mechanic.
They’re also talking about making sure the car’s A/C actually works. If it doesn’t, it could be something simple or it could be a bigger problem. Either way, it’s better to check sooner than later.
A manufacturer’s warranty is the official coverage period for repairs. The host is pointing out that “lifetime” claims often mean “until the warranty ends,” not forever. So you may still need maintenance after that point.
This is the name of the dealership sponsoring the segment. Sponsors often support the show with a message about buying cars confidently. It doesn’t change the technical advice, but it explains who’s backing the episode.
This is a reliability philosophy: the idea that older vehicles tend to be more dependable because common issues have been worked out over time and designs are proven. The host contrasts this with claims that newer vehicles are inherently better.
“Mechanical failures” refers to breakdowns of major systems like cooling, powertrain components, or other hardware that can leave a vehicle undrivable. In the context of this episode, the host argues that newer vehicles are experiencing more frequent failures than expected.
The head gasket is like a seal between the engine’s top and bottom parts. If it blows, coolant can mix where it shouldn’t, and the engine can start overheating or running badly.
Sometimes the exact part a car needs isn’t available right away. If it’s back-ordered, the shop has to wait, so the car can’t be repaired until the part shows up.
The host says the transmission hasn’t been serviced even though it has about 121,000 kilometers on it. That matters because the fluid and internal parts need regular upkeep to avoid expensive problems.
A CVT is a type of automatic transmission that changes ratios smoothly instead of using fixed gears. When people talk about the “price tag” for a Nissan CVT, they’re usually talking about how expensive it can be to repair or replace if something goes wrong.
Transmission fluid is what keeps the inside parts lubricated and helps the transmission work correctly. Old or dirty fluid can lead to slipping, harsh shifts, and overheating.
A transmission gets hot as you drive, and it needs cooling to stay healthy. If it runs too hot for too long, the fluid breaks down and parts wear faster.
Planetary gears are a set of gears that work together to change how the engine’s power gets sent to the wheels. They help the transmission “choose” the right ratio for driving conditions.
Solenoids are like electrically controlled switches for fluid flow inside the transmission. If they don’t work right, the transmission can shift incorrectly.
Transmissions today use sensors and computers to decide how the car should shift. That means problems can come from worn parts or from the control system too.
Fuel economy is how far you can drive on a certain amount of gas. Premium doesn’t automatically make you get better mileage—your car has to be designed to benefit from it.

giving you the confidence to understand what's under that hood, from the classics to the commuters,
the weird noises and the what the heck moments we've got you covered.
So grab your coffee, sit back, join the crew because this is Car Connection, your Monday
through Saturday morning pit stop for stories, smarks, a few good laughs and I'm Niall Motormouth
Jenkins and we're shifting in to drive this morning, well good Thursday morning to you
my friends, I hope things are going well, your order is correct going through the drive-thru,
watch out for the Easter Bunny, I hear he's a biter, I'm just being informed, so be careful out
there, it could be the Easter egg hunt in our neighborhood is a full contact sport,
that's what I've heard, the kids are just, they are into it. So Easter weekend, tomorrow's good
Friday and it is fun Friday here in the Car Connection Workshop, so stop by, I will share a
few things with you that will certainly make you laugh, so you want to put your coffee down,
or whatever your hot morning beverage is, it might be a smoothie, I don't know, but for us,
well I start my day off with my natural beverage, but I am Johnson for a cup of coffee this morning
after being in the dental chair yesterday, yeah I survived it, thank you for all your concerns and
prayers, I appreciate it, I made it through, I did sweat bullets, I'm not a dental chair chicken,
but I don't like it, and this time it was better because I had a game plan, and that was earplugs,
headset, and then they're talking to you, like you know what I mean, what, what are you saying,
what, pardon, I can't use my hands, yeah I'm not sure how that, what the game plan is for
that, for the for the dentist and the dental assistant, know that you have, I call them the
corn, I got the corn plugs in my ear, I got a headset on playing music, and I could just barely,
I couldn't hear the drill, but I could just, the vibrations through my head, I was good with that,
but still, I am a white knuckled patient, I was exhausted, by the time I got out of there,
they fixed, fixed an old tooth that the filling was coming out of, and two cavities, and apparently
have eight more to go, I'm like what, I'll share that tomorrow, yeah fun Friday, yeah you gotta
hear this one, you got it, you absolutely gotta hear this one, it kind of relates very much to
automotive service and repairs, well let's jump into the morning, what is our topic for today,
you ready for it, something that most of you really don't give any thoughts to, as long as the
vehicle goes in drive and you have reverse, you guessed it, the transmission, we've forgotten about
transmission services, and it has become very lonely, that's what I'm hearing,
transmissions have become very lonely, they're seeking treatment, but you're not listening,
the forgotten automotive entity that is worth thousands of dollars, and some of them might be
just as, as expensive as my dental treatment plan that I'll share with you tomorrow, because it
certainly relates to automotive, it really, really does, 100%, and you'll, you'll probably have a
really good laugh about it too, so we'll just share that tomorrow, don't forget we've got Q&A
Saturday coming up, I know a lot of you may be visiting family this Easter weekend and eating
some turkey, I know I am, I've been jonesing for turkey for quite a while, and whether family's
coming or not, there is going to be a turkey in the oven because there's one in the freezer, so it's,
it's number is up, it's time for turkey and stuffing and whipped garlic potatoes and carrots, fresh
carrots, what else, we're doing gravy, that's right, you know there's good gravy and then there's
just gravy, you have to have good gravy, so Saturday I will be here for Q&A, so the questions are
coming in, so if you haven't popped your question into my email today would be a good day to get
that done, an automotive related question, you can send that over to Nile at ccbusnet.com, or if
that's difficult to remember, I put all this information in the description boxes and I do
write those myself for our YouTube channel, and also for our podcast and I want a reminder, I put
a lot of nuggets, tips and tricks into those description boxes, so it gives you more information
that I may not be able to cover during a video, shooting a video, or also here on our podcast,
and remember you can pull our podcast off of any platform, anywhere, Spotify, Apple, Amazon,
the like, and any other podcast platforms that you may be using, just type in Car Connection
Workshop and you will grab the next episode, today I'll be making 10 more of our podcast,
so I've started at the newest and I'm heading backwards, just so you know, if you go into our
YouTube channel, you know, it's a good thing to ask questions and I'm not an amazing fan of AI,
but I asked ChatGBT, I said I've migrated, exported over 120 podcasts to our YouTube channel,
they haven't all gone public, why is that? And with a couple of different, a couple of changes,
you can change that from private to public, so Chat goes no, no, no, no, no, don't do that,
no, you'll plug up your YouTube channel, the algorithms will have a seizure and you may get
your channel shut down for a while because you've overloaded it. I think I didn't know that, so I'm
now having to go in every 24 hours, select 10 more of our podcasts, as I said, I'm starting at the
newest going backwards and turn them from private to public, and the new ones, so this podcast here,
when it gets scheduled and it uploads at 8am, it will populate an export over to our YouTube
channel and it should go, it's supposed to because I have checked the right boxes on our RSS feed,
it should go immediately public, so from here on forward, so I'll be checking that today,
now I'm out of the dental chair and my fingers, I can feel them now, we're in good shape, so the
homepage of our website is where you can find everything you need to connect with us and connect
with our program partners, we've made it very, very easy for you, I was speaking to our webmaster
yesterday, I'll get the photographs over of the car connection fleet maintenance system, so he can
finish the profile page for that and then you'll be able to read all about it and order it and pay
for it online by e-transfer, we can't put it into our online store because our online store is built,
designed and completely runs through Total Freedom Darien Center New York, the addiction center there,
they have a number of businesses they've created on the campus to get those who are
moving through the course of action to have a new life, get them back into the workforce,
so it gives them an opportunity to work and yes, they get paid and it's set aside where they can't
get their fingers on it, unless they request it, they have a whole system for that and getting them
into a rental property and they take care of all the details to get them back into the workforce,
so Freedom Expressions Boutique is there and it helps them to create the funds that they need
to keep the campuses going, it's just amazing, I've watched it grow, it's just amazing to see
how they have created the campuses to be completely self-sufficient, they even put in a huge veggie
garden for the summer to help offset the costs of food in the fellowship lounge because they're
all taken care of there, when they're enrolled into the campus, I'll just spend a minute and talk
about this, when they're enrolled into the campus and they've got to sign themselves in, you can't
force someone who has an addiction into a total freedom campus, they've got to want to be there,
so they're completely taken care of as far as feeding and and beverages and housing
and everything, everything is taken care of for them and they have classes they have to take,
it's just amazing to watch the campuses grow and become self-contained, they they don't take
any funding from government or grants or anything, they create their own income on the property,
they have an automotive shop at the Darien Center New York campus, it's called Freedom Automotive
and some of the fellows that are in the course can get a position there and work in the shop,
so there's lots of stuff going on there, they have a candle factory, they have a takeout window
from their commercial kitchen, people can order ahead of time and they sell meals out the drive
through window and you can see all that by clicking on the link below their logo on the
homepage or website, so we are we are blessed to be a part of that and to do our part, so when
you purchase a merchandise through our online store you join our crew in the battle against
addiction and proceeds go directly to total freedom addiction campuses, Canada and U.S.,
Canada it's Sydney Manitoba and so that way you're you're joining us and we're standing
up together and those who make the decision to to say today's the day I've got to get through
this addiction no matter what it takes, I want I want to get back to life, real life, that's when
things begin to happen, so check that out and that's just a reminder that our online store,
that's what it's for, you order what you like, your size, color and pay for it directly
to Freedom Expressions safely online and know that you're helping that next person
get to a total freedom addiction campus where a new life waits for them, so let's jump in this
morning, car connection is brought to you by our faith, a non-profit faith-based organization
in the Niagara region, Crystal Ridge Dream Center serving men, women, orphans, widows, single moms,
they have a great program for single moms and the kids after school program, they feed the kids,
love on them, they play mind-expanding games to stimulate their little minds and they can also
take music lessons and they help them with their homework, they have tutors there to help them to
get their homework done, they're changing lives one at a time in the Niagara region, check them out,
they're serving two days a week hot meals out the door on Tuesdays and Fridays, if it weren't for
the local businesses and people like you and me donating time, money, groceries, the program
would simply not survive, but they are in a time when a community sport is so crucial,
Crystal Ridge Dream Center shines as a beacon of compassion and transformation, they have over
61 volunteers and I've met a number of them at the annual banquet, Christmas banquet and I'll
tell you what, you hear the testimonies from those who are volunteering their time, they absolutely
love being a part of watching lives change there, so that is so cool. Earl and Louise Grand, if you

thank you to my brothers from other mothers, certified financial planning professionals Tony
Miele, Larry teacher over 50 years, experiences fiduciaries, these guys are well decorated and
as humble as they come, you got investment questions and you've got investments with the bank, you need

with them for 20 years and I can tell you this right now, get your questions answered, they will
be answered correctly, debt retirement, estate planning, mortgages, life insurance, critical
illness insurance, grab that hour in a coffee discovery meeting which is complimentary to you,
leave your wallet, leave your purse at home, no one's going to sell you anything, it's an
opportunity for them to get to know you and answer your questions and formulate a game plan
and I'll tell you this right now, if you want less stress in your life, just get this done,
just get it done, I haven't had mortgage with a bank for almost 15 years
and I ain't never going back to the bank, never, the rates are great, the ladies out in Winnipeg
are fantastic to deal with in the mortgage department there, no games, just great service,
CFPs Tony Miele and Larry Tietro let them know that I sent you and to the Grimo family Niagara Falls
5000 Montrose Road in Niagara Falls, they've been building Canada since 1931, they create a lot of
their products on site and they have a list of contractors, if you're looking for a specific
job to be done you need to talk to Kathy Grimo there at the front desk in the office and let
them know what you're looking for because they can line you up, they have referrals, so for all
your building supplies, metal supplies, hardscape landscaping materials, they can put together
that backyard oasis, that special place where you can hang out with your family and your friends,
that's Niagara Block 5000 Montrose Road Niagara Falls, let's get into the morning,
if you're sliding through that drive-through double check that order, lock that cup down,
we don't want any spillation going on in the cabin, that just makes a huge mess, I can't tell you
the number of times that has happened and it's like the slow-mo gizmo, you see it going but you
got to keep your eye on the road and the cup is just slowly coming out of the holder heading for
the passenger floor, done and the lid comes off when it hits and you have a sticky hot mess to
clean up afterwards, well this morning here's what we can expect weather-wise in the Niagara region
about 0.1 of an inch precipitation, yeah I think we're done with that for a little while don't you,
in and around the Niagara region, man the rain's been coming down sideways, I couldn't even park
in the driveway yesterday, like it was underwater, it was brutal, the street was almost fully underwater,
35 degrees right now and cloudy, wind is making it feel colder about 26 degrees,
cloudy conditions will continue all day, today's temperature range from 34 degrees to 60 degrees
Fahrenheit and it feels like 25 to 57 degrees Fahrenheit this morning and mama rabbit I think
she's about ready to have her, we call her bunny flop or mrs mop, rather I think it's mrs mop,
she's been nesting underneath the deck for quite a few years now, but I think she should have
probably danced all night because she's looking pretty porky, so I think there's going to be some
little ones coming about very very soon, she's been eating like a machine out there, she's mowing
the lawn and it's not even ready yet, a quick reminder, how long would your car last if you
actually follow the proper maintenance plan, you're going to be able to see the custom
car connection fleet maintenance system that I created just for you, all of you whether you
know a little bit about cars or absolutely nothing, trust me if you can write a grocery list
and put a check mark or scratch out the item as it goes in the basket, you can follow your own
vehicle maintenance and put a check mark in the box when it's completed, it's that simple,
it is really that simple and we're going to have good pricing, excellent pricing on it,
if you are subscribed to our youtube channel and I know many of you are enjoying the youtube videos
but 93% of you have not subscribed, can you help us out with that Skippy and I, we're working our
buns off to get monetized so that we can buy the parts, provide the labor, shoot the videos,
share them with you and last year we helped quite a few people, some single moms and also
some widows and single gals that are on their own, you know they have no idea and they don't want
to get ripped off out there so we helped them out but we weren't able to buy parts for them,
just provide the labor so we want to get to that point, join us on our community, our online
community with Facebook, Instagram, Stevensvilleontheweb.ca come and be a part of us there that also
pushes up our numbers because the more people that find out about us will head over to our youtube
channel and learn a whole pile of stuff, we have a whole series of videos coming out and they've
just started to populate, I'll be checking them today, they should be up there, we do a two for
Tuesday and another video on Friday so three, you get three new teaching videos every single week
and not on the same thing, they're all different, they're all different, we do a series, I have
a series that's coming up and we're utilizing a 1992 Gulf Cabrio Lay Carman right from Germany,
it's a California car and we have a whole series of maintenance items to do and you're gonna love it,
you're gonna love it, it's a beautiful little car too and it's convertible with air conditioning
that works so we're gonna double check and make sure that air conditioning is working top drawer,
so this morning's topic, transmission service, the forgotten automotive entity that is worth a
fortune, that is one of those big ticket items that you do not want to neglect and there's two
things there that work together and here's the thing, if you're listening to the white noise
and they're selling you, you don't need, oh you don't need to maintain that, oh yeah that's good
for lifetime, well just remember lifetime is only the manufacturer's warranty, so if it runs out by
time or mileage whichever one comes first, that's it, that's lifetime, see they don't tell you the
word salad, they don't unpack the word salad for you, that's where doing your own homework,
doing your own research comes together, so let's do some research and have a swiggy together this
morning, brought to us by Earl and Louise Grant at City Auto Sales and Leasing, buy with confidence,
be treated with nothing less than honesty integrity, are you ready, if you're joining us for the first
time, this is where you get the 16 pack of crayola crayons, a folded up leaf bag that looks like a
laptop, you hand that over to your travel partner to take some notes, keep them busy
while you're driving, so on three two one whatever your morning beverages are, well
I start the morning with my herbal, that gets the motor running and then I top it off with some
high octane right after the program, so three two one, yep I remember that same flavor from yesterday,
man my face was so frozen yesterday, my my face felt like my nose had completely taken over,
have you ever experienced that, yeah and then they said don't drink any hot beverages,
I go I'll probably drool it all over myself won't I, because I can't even feel my face,
I said I can't feel my face, it's gone, there are two ways to own a car, another reminder,
if you heard this yesterday, you're gonna hear this for the whole 2026, there's two ways to
own a car, living in the unknown or living in the know, one creates stress, the other gives you a
ton of freedom, a ton of freedom, peace of mind, you cannot put a price tag on peace of mind,
no matter what, no matter what, you are far better off, well after yesterday's time in the
dental chair I think I'd be far better off to not know deadly squat, you'll hear about it tomorrow
and if you don't laugh I'll laugh because I just and I I was respectful okay, I was respectful,
I did not laugh but I did when I got in the car and I read I read the proposal again and again
and again and I was still laughing, I'm going wow, any hoes which one would you prefer,
that when you put the key in the ignition that you just drive away, you don't do a circle check,
you don't check lights, look at the tires, make sure all the tires are actually inflated,
I cannot tell you in the last 12 months, the number of people that I have heard of
driving almost half a day on one tire that's flat completely on the car, not even noticing
and you know what you can say to that that tire, kiss it goodbye, it's done,
so if it's fairly new it's over, yep she's singing, it's finished, so doing the basics,
I'm gonna save you a ton of money and what else, you're gonna be able to pack as much mileage as
you want on a vehicle as you want to, there's no limit, sky's the limit, if you're looking after it
you can keep it as long as you want, mileage means nothing when there's maintenance,
mileage plus maintenance equals longevity, that's the formula, it's so stinking simple,
I can't understand why no one would want to do it or are you just wanting to do the you know the
home to work, home to work, home to work, home to work, home to work, home to work, get on the
the little ball, get some water, get a pellet, jump back on and make the car payment
and today's automobiles are not as reliable, I disagree with the guy that said that
online on YouTube's, I watch his program, I love the guy's shop but I disagree with what
Dave said that newer vehicles are better, not according to a lot of the other technicians
that I watch all over North America that are really good guys, they know how to diagnose,
they know how to use equipment and they take good care of their customers
because the general consensus was this, older is better and more reliable,
not the message, just the messenger but I totally agree with him 100%, totally,
there's so many mechanical failures right now in the lineup from the domestic manufacturers,
it's shameful, it really is and the most recent one I did share already and you don't want if
the car was close to us, I would definitely, I would put the labor in for the people for free.
2024 Chevy Trax, that's only two years old, it's 70,000 miles and now it's got
coolant going into the engine so it's one of two things, either the cylinder heads cracked
or it's blown a head gasket in 70,000 miles, that's disgusting and apparently it is a trend
on that particular vehicle so they don't have the money to fix it, they're making payments
on it, it's going to sit in the driveway until they can afford to fix it, you like apples,
how about them apples, yeah that's disgusting folks, period, we should be having that stuff
happening in 2026 so if the vehicles are made better and stronger we shouldn't be having the
amount of engines blowing up in the truck series, the lowest one was, I checked again
to see if I can find one lower, 700 miles second engine, 700 miles, is that built better?
Absolutely not, you're better to keep that older vehicle that you have just like my friend
Spencer who's fixed washers, dryers, fridges, all his life, he'd say motor mouth, you got an old
dryer washing machine, fix it, get the parts, fix it, he said I'll come over, feed me and I'll fix it
but don't let it go to the curb for the scrap guy, that's the best washer and dryer you're ever
going to get, he said the new stuff is horrifically cheaply made and they go down easy and they don't
even have enough parts to fix it, so what do you do, wait, you know, parts are back ordered,
what do you do for laundry, wait six months and he said I've had customers say haul it out of here
we're just going to go get another one, we can't go six, seven months waiting for the parts to come
in, we got lots of laundry going on here in the house, so yeah, older is better, if this is a program
where I've been in a lane that I've been carving out for many many years and been carving it out for
over 40 plus years as a licensed fully licensed qualified hands-on automotive tech, yeah I started
very young in the trade, I knew what I wanted and went after it, had my own shop for 11 years till
yeah I blew a couple of discs out in my back, not working, well I was working 18 hour days but
that probably didn't help, loading a roll of carpet into the back of my truck after the end of the day
at the shop blew some discs out and I was a train wreck, almost in a wheelchair, it was really really
bad times but I made it through and I'm in good shape, I take care take care of myself, eat well
and clean, whatever that means, I hear people say that, I eat clean, okay good,
I wash my hands too all the time, I'm a you know that's a thing for me, I wash my hands a lot,
yeah I eat clean, okay let's move on, the transmission, what are, I would like to see your
thoughts and comments on what you think your vehicle's transmission's purpose is,
it is a, I'm going to describe it to you, it is a mechanical device that transfers torque
into horsepower and gets that horsepower to the driven wheels, that's its job at all speeds,
so you know like yesterday coming home from Grimsby Ontario Canada from my dental officer,
I can't believe how fast people traveling on the highway, unbelievable, they're like 140 or more,
here's me 110, I'm 10k over, I'm on the outside lane, I got my cruise control on,
my engine's running at about 1950, just under 2000 rpm and I'm getting fantastic fuel economy
and people are flying past me like almost, almost putting the car into reverse,
yeah spinning me around, wow impressive, impressive how long do you think that vehicle's
going to hold that up before something major goes on, this is the question, this is why
and I honestly and 100% believe in planned obsolescence, when we've seen in the service
bays the number of things failing over and over and over and over and over again on the same
makes and models, you can't tell me that's not a pattern failure, you couldn't convince me for
one minute, that's not a pattern failure, really, really when you're having three or four vehicles
of the same with the same problem every single month, that's a pattern failure,
transmissions are failing, engines are failing, it's a nightmare, so grab hold of that old car
and love on it because that is your future to putting cash back in your pocket, absolutely
and you can own and operate an older automobile and keep the maintenance up, stay ahead of the
curve and I can teach you how to do that, we have the system to do that and you can put 300, 400,
500, 600,000 miles on that vehicle, not kilometers, miles, miles and just keep going
because with regular maintenance and preventative maintenance you can keep that vehicle as long
as you want and that is money in the bank every single time, so tell me in the comments on one
of our YouTube channels videos or going to be doing a transmission service coming up, so I think
that's the first one, I don't know why we haven't done one, I'm not sure, I do remember doing a
transmission service on a 78L48 Corvette, I think it was in our first 12 videos, I'll have to look
but I'm going to do an oil change service on the 2008 Nissan Rogue coming up, the oils here,
factory oil, that's what you got to use, so if you have a Nissan with a CVT, continuous
velocity transmission, it's belt driven inside, it's a bit of a weird kind of beast and they're
very expensive, you're going to want to get into the habit of this, ready for it? Every 50,000
kilometers, not 60, not 85, not 120, that transmission needs a full service, if you want to keep it
because it has a pattern failure, it doesn't have a good rep out there, so that was one of the first
things I checked before we decided to, the vehicle was donated by Sandra, thank you Sandra if you're
tuned in this morning, it's been a blessing, an absolute blessing, decided to save it from going
to the curbside and put a lot of work into it to bring the maintenance back where it needed to be,
get it certified and the transmission's never had a service, 121,000 kilometers, so it's getting
a service, it's getting back on track because just google how much for a Nissan CVT transmission,
just check that out sometime today, just google that and see how what the price tag is,
yeah, you're going to have a puppy and a kitten and maybe even a hamster when you see the price,
yeah, so let me know through an email in your words what you think that transmission does for you
and here's a second part of the question, is it mechanical, does it create a mechanical connection
to the engine, do you think it works, do you think that it has mechanical components
that are bathed in oil that aggregates from heating and cooling, heating and cooling,
do you think it has like bands, planetary gears, electronics, servos, solenoids, wiring
in a computer, a brain, do you think it has all that to make it work or is that way too much,
way too much, do you think, here's the big one and I'm going to leave you with this because
we're going to talk about it more, a little bit more tomorrow but it is Fun Friday so we'll keep
it light, I want to see your emails come through motormouth.jankins.gmail.com, do you think the
transmission needs to be serviced on your your maker model of vehicle and if your answers know
who told you that, that's what I want to know, who told you that, so I'll be watching email all day,
I'm in the studio all day, I've got a ton of things to do to get done and get caught up on
scheduling and everything so I'm in here drinking coffee for pretty much the rest of the day,
I'll be here tomorrow morning 8 a.m. for Fun Friday, don't forget get your questions over
for Saturdays, motormouth, morning drive, our Q&A session has been going really really good,
lots of questions coming in but I don't see yours, I don't know why, motormouth.jankins.gmail.com
or nyle.ccbusnet.com, that's just short for business network and check out the homepage or
website, we've got all our links there for you to join our online community as well as if you
haven't signed up for our YouTube channel, let me tell you you're missing out on this, every video
covers five things, what it is, where it is, how it works, how it breaks and how you could have
understood those components better that would have saved you not hundreds but thousands, thousands
of dollars in needless automotive repairs, temperatures rising soon as we taper off at
about 60 on average then we're going to kick off the 30-day fuel savings challenge and let me tell
you, I had to get some fuel yesterday, I used nothing but premium because that's where the octane
is, the higher the octane the better the boom baby in the engine and that means fuel economy
so all you regular gas people you're spending more on fuel than I am on premium, it's science baby,
that's what it is, you're understanding the price tag but you're not understanding octane
that's the difference absolutely, I do have a few vehicles that it says right in the fuel door,
premium fuel only, there's a reason for that, it's not, it doesn't say premium fuel maybe
sort of kind of if you're thinking about it but if the price is too high go regular,
doesn't say regular as an option so I'm just saying we're going to talk about fuel as well so I can
save you minimum $100 a month for their 30-day fuel savings challenge and it's two steps,
the first 30 days you do this and the second 30 days you do that and if you do that the next 30
you'll increase that $100 a month back in your pocket so anyways I bought some premium yesterday
yeah took my mortgage broker with me, no not really, $203.9, $2.03 a liter and it wasn't only
a few weeks back, yeah a few weeks ago that it was like a buck 60 for premium in around there
but don't forget for all those that are tuned into the podcast here living in Canada, we are
living as Canadians, we are living the best life we have ever lived, have a great Thursday,
drive safe, keep it under 100, happy healthy motoring to each and every one of you,
love you all for tuning in, share us, follow, like, ring the bell, comment and do the hokey pokey
just for fun and turn it all around, we'll see you tomorrow morning at 8 a.m for Fun Friday
with yours truly Nile Motormouth Jenkins in the driver's seat for the morning drive,
we'll see you later on, bye for now.
About this episode
Niall Motormouth Jenkins tackles the “forgotten service” that can quietly drain your wallet: transmission maintenance. He argues transmissions are big-ticket, pattern-failure items that get neglected because shops sell “lifetime” claims that only last through warranty. The discussion blends education with rants about modern reliability, including examples of major failures on relatively new vehicles. He also shares a CVT service interval (every 50,000 km), explains what transmissions do, and invites listener questions for Q&A Saturday.
The transmission is one of the most complex - and most neglected - components in any vehicle.
In today's episode, we flip the script and ask a simple question:
What does your transmission actually do?
Is it a sealed unit..or is it a fully mechanical hydraulic system packed with gears ,clutches , bands, servos, a valve body, and enough electronics to rival modern tech systems?
Here's the problem: too many drivers treat transmission service like it's optional - or worse, unnecessary.
In this episode, we challenge that mindset and set the stage for Part 2, where we'll break down why proper transmission servicing is critical to long-term reliability and avoiding major repair costs.
If you think your transmission is "lifetime filled" ....this is the one you don't want to miss.
