There's a professional radio. That's front wheel drive so.
Have you got anyone you want to thank?
Just myself. And now I do the after hours,
gentlemen. What would you go for?
They see us in there. OK, and because it's not a super
duck. What?
It is. It's not.
Automatic perfection comes in the form of two letters A&U.
Long live my Ltd. Welcome to Car Talk.
It's Tuesday night here on 90.9 Northwest FM.
It's me, Maddie J in the studio with Mr Alandeep Singh online with Scooter Do Johnson, Edward Bunting and David Prince.
How are you, gentlemen? Very good.
Doing great. Thank you.
Good. Thank you very much.
All of energy today, guys, let's G up.
Let's let's get what we did today.
Let's get pumped for for today's podcast.
Good to see you all Good to see you guys back.
Good to see Edward. It's been it's been a while.
It's been a little. While I'm sorry.
He's, he's doing the dip, man. He's dipping on us all the time
now. He's what's going on?
What's going on, man? He he's moving up and the world,
he's got time for us. He's got, yeah, he doesn't have.
Time for us anymore? Going nowhere in the world.
He's got time for these lovely podcasts.
Yeah, no, it's just been like there's just been something on on a Tuesday for the last however many weeks.
Yeah, it's good. Yeah, I know.
And I feel guilty. And then I'm just like, yeah,
tonight. Anyway, we're here.
We're back. Good to see you.
I guarantee me for next week, but we're back.
Good to see you, good to see your face mate.
Scooty how you doing bud? Yeah, pretty good.
Not too bad for this week. Just getting ready for tomorrow
where I've got parent teacher interviews.
Yeah, little Johnny's a shit. Little Johnny doesn't pay.
Little Johnny's got parents. They're not doing the right
thing. You tell them, you tell them
you. Can't say that though.
You can't say that. You've got to be diplomatic.
Yeah, especially when writing the reports.
Man, I've got some stories to tell you guys off air about about coordinating you. You'll piss yourselves.
But anyway that'll that'll be. Can't wait.
Yeah, we'll have to fill you in with that.
David Prince updates with you. Sorry, actually before updates.
How are you doing? No updates this.
Is how you are. It's just, it's just check in.
It's. Just how I am.
This is just the general initial.
I'm good. Thank you this.
Is your seven O 7 check in David Prince this is.
Perfect. No, no vertical and breathing.
Thank you. A lot lovely and Mr Alan Deepti.
I'm doing pretty well, thank you.
Good to see all your lovely faces.
Let's crack on. Stranded with some car updates.
We started with Ed, so we'll start with Ed.
Let's go. What's up with you?
Where did we get to last time? I can't remember what.
What do you recall? You sold the euro.
That was the last time we spoke. Oh, sold the euro.
Yeah, there was a, there was a little time there, maybe maybe only a week or so where I didn't have any stock cars.
You know, I had my normal cars. And I did say to a couple of
people, you know what, I'm really looking forward just to driving my own cars and tinkering and just enjoying the fleet. But then I I got not COVID, I've
got some sort of sickness and was in bed for three days with a bit of a temperature and throat and you know all that jazz.
You got the Advid. Yeah, the advert.
And then of course, when you're at home and I was feeling a little bit better, I started to sort of bring out the laptop and have a little sniff around and I found a Jeep that I thought looked good. Yeah, you, you've said that you,
you bought a Jeep or we know. That Jeep in Jeep?
Yeah, you were that. Yes, you were.
You were very you were very sick when you bought that, obviously.
I had a fever. Quite the fever anyway.
That's a good excuse. Watch my Jeep.
Oh, I had a fever. I had.
A high. Temperature, I wasn't well to
follow on from that purchase the Jeep, the Jeep really is quite clean and drives well and all those things.
And I just thought maybe I maybe I can just get this roadworthy and sell this Jeep and but no, no, that doesn't happen with Jeep. So the check engine light was on
and I thought usually that's an oxy sensor, but all the oxy sensors have been tested. There's four of them on that car
and they are all fine. And the mechanic believes that
the Jeep has potentially got a burnt valve cause the exhaust is a little fluffy, a little uneven.
And so it hasn't been confirmed with the compression test.
But I'm really not interested in delving any further.
So the Jeep will probably go to the auctions.
I think that's the Jeep. I might use up the half a tank
that's in it first and then send it.
So that's that. But as well as that, I did start
going on a bit of a Honda Jazz buying spree.
If I mention those, no. You were the jazz club.
I bought a 15 model Btis in white 109 K Very tidy car so that's currently for sale. I also bought an O8 GLI auto so
second Gen Jazz in bright yellow.
Helios yellow for those playing at home and that's done 43,000 K, so super low KS on that. But they're both really nice,
clean 2 keys, wall mats, factory, you know nicely kept cars. So I've got those alongside.
But they won't be going to the auctions.
They won't be going to the auctions.
Ideally, David, No, ideally dearly.
But hey, you know, never say never.
And the other car I bought, which I don't know if I've mentioned on here at all yet, is a 19 sorry, 2001 Peugeot 306 sedan diesel manual. So that's an HDI common rail
diesel being the last of the little 30 sixes.
Bought that off a friend who David knows.
And yeah, that's, that's a nice little thing.
It needs a bit of love that I describe that to people.
It's a bit of a love project. That car, you know, it's, it's,
it's not a big money spinner if if at all, it probably won't be a money spinner at all, you know, but I like them.
I've always liked them. They're very good on fuel.
They're engaging to drive. And I'm just tinkering away
fixing up little bits and bobs on it.
That was kind. Of like the last kind of cool
little Peugeots. Yeah, yeah, because after that
it went 307, which is a frumpy hatchback that that isn't very attractive. And yeah, three O 6 is a well
renowned. They're a bit like an E36 BMW in
that good handling, good in that day, well renowned.
Some bits are made of paper mache and fall off, but inherently the the bones of it are sort of a good chassis and a good car. And it's a bit like that yeah.
They're not quality wise in some regards they're not great, but but they're certainly engaging to drive for a front driver.
They they go around corners very, very well.
In fact, I was talking to my friend Rowan the other night and he he goes, Oh, there was a great ad for one of those.
He said, do you remember this one?
He put it on YouTube, but it was watch your Corolla turn into a pig, watch your Mazda turn into a something.
And then the final thing was and watch your Peugeot turn into a corner. You know, it shows the three O 6
really just gripping the road. And I can attest to that.
This thing sticks very, very well when chucked into a corner.
It's good. It's on good ties.
It's on Michelins, but as it, as it should be being a flinch.
But yeah, it's, it's a fun little thing.
And reportedly you get like 12-13 hundred K out of a tank.
So I, I, I gleefully filled it up the other night and I'm measuring so far it's just moved off full and I've done nearly 300 K. So that's a good sign.
Good. It's a good sign that it'll be
good. How big is this tank yet?
It's a 60 litre tank, which for a little sedan is quite big.
Yeah, huge. Yeah, I mean 1200 KS out of a
tank. Well, they seemingly do 4.1 or
3.9, you know, like apparently they're amazingly good on fuel,
which I knew they were, but I've never owned one.
So, well, to put it this way, the previous guy that owned it, who David and I know, he lived reasonably close to work and he filled it up once every four months.
Oh my. God.
And just for those playing at home, do fast.
That's three times a year. So you can do your work commute
and fill up three times a year. That's not bad.
Now admittedly he lived quite close to work, but that's that's what we're dealing with here. I'd like a driver that I think
that'll be. That'll be interesting.
I think he should have a driver, but I'm getting a new clutch cable put in it because it's it's quite stiff and the clutch itself feels fine. And they said, look, it's nine
times out of 10, it's the cable. But that of course, is a, a long
and involved cable from the other side of the car because originally they'll lift and drive and blah, blah.
So I'm getting that done by a Peugeot sort of specialist.
And then, yeah, the other stuff, it's more cosmetic.
You know, I'll put another driver's seat in it because the original one sort of rocked backwards and forwards.
It was busted on on the frame or something.
Don't make me probably taking too many sharp corners.
Yeah, maybe I'll replace it. It's just the torque of the
diesel alum. You know, it pushes you back in
the seat. That does it.
It is very torquey. It's 67 kilowatts of power but
like 211 Newton metres of torque, which doesn't sound very much, but in a little car like that it does pull very well.
Is it, is it a turbo? Yeah, turbo diesel.
Diesel. Yeah two litre turbo diesel same
motor that was in the four O 6 bigger brother, but this is smaller lighter car. So I'm I'll report back in.
Well, it might not be next week, might be in a few months time when what the fuel light comes off you have.
To refill. It.
Yeah, well, I have to refill it. Well, I remember you've talked
about these cars in particular, that model for years.
Yeah. And you've always, you're always
like, I forgot a nice one. I'd, you know, I'd hold onto it
and drive it for a bit and enjoy it.
It's. OK.
But but I'll, I'll bring it back.
I'll bring it back. I want to find a set of factory
alloys for it, ideally there. There were some online, but they
got sold. But there might be another set.
And you know, I'm just, you know, just bringing it up to Ed's standards. That's your cars.
I've got not much else to report.
Scotty do. No, I don't have anything after
the last. Week.
The Barkle and everything where I pretty much took over your whole show. I think I called the whole.
Phone I just I just finished editing that episode I which is which it's going to come out the other tunnel tomorrow and and I was like yeah he did talk a bit about it that's the.
Bible Look, it wasn't a long and involved story, so you know it needed to be. It needed to be.
It needed to be and. That was kind of cut short.
I could have had other bits and pieces that happened throughout throughout that time, but. My head went that way and my
legs went. My legs went that way.
Could be in the part peezus. The seafood boots still on and
everything's going fine. So good.
Very good, David Prince. With me so the latest
installment in the the little orange car that could well I can last week I mentioned that I had an air box that I dropped off that was going to be did it. It doesn't fit because it turns
out that the one that was actually sent from Japan was from non turbo rather than turbo 660.
OK, Yep. It won't fit.
So we have to order another one from Japan, which should hopefully take a week at 10 days and just order it through a dealer and buy the VIN number and then that way we really can't go wrong. Hopefully.
Famous last words and the workshop where the car was, I had been out there a couple of times by then and the car was still sitting out. It's it was in a court in one of
the eastern suburbs and the car was still sitting where it had been left on the on the sort of concrete apron out the front.
And so I said to the guy, so the car will just stay there now till, till the other bits in. You said we can't.
That's the last thing we're waiting for.
It's all compliance actually got the VIN number on it already.
It's got the compliance on the, on the big pillar.
So they've done everything except signed off on the fact that it needs this, the original air, air air box rather than the blitz pod philtre that it's got fitted to it.
So I said, well, I'm not really happy about that.
Just sitting out there outside for a couple of weeks.
So he said, well, he's, I said, I've got access to storage, you know, can can we get it? Can we get it off the street?
And, and he said, yeah, George, your Carter, he said you can do it if you like with it, you know, within reason, if you've got a permit to drive it, you can take it anywhere you like.
It was insured and everything. So I picked it up Friday morning
and brought it home. So it's actually sitting in my
garage, which is good and bad. Good in that I can fiddle around
with it. And I can't actually drive it
any distance necessarily. And I don't really want to until
it's all signed, sealed and delivered it in my name with my plates and stuff. So, but that's the bad news.
The good news is that it drives absolutely brilliantly.
It's exceeded every expectation so far, so.
Has it drive better? Does it drive better than the
yellow one you drove? I would say it does, yes.
Yeah. So it's.
And is that because of the mods on it?
I think so. I think so.
It's it's it's it's got an exhaust and it's got a couple of other little bits and pieces, but it's a lovely note to it and it's as a manual. It just feels a different car to
the red car, but it's also got some decent suspension on it, some progressive red springs on it.
So it feels really planted on the road, but at the same time feels really zippy and and more fun to drive.
Lovely little short throw gearbox right up like it's just like driving a little baby type R with the the gearbox on the dash and makes all the right sounds.
It's it's going to be a lot of fun.
I think so. Well, as the as the two founding
members of the manual 3 cylinder turbo car club it it, it'll be interesting to to to have a drive at them.
Yes, well, they'll be, they'll be taking, people will be taking numbers. I think so, yeah.
I've just got to have a good driver first myself I think.
Absolutely, I'll show. It to to oh.
I'm going to start the new line where it's just having a ride in it. Oh, OK, OK.
But I'm first in line for that, so just you know well.
It's funny. I mean they're good to have a
ride in. I mean when we took the took the
the first one to Adelaide for the old Japan show, there were four of us in it going out at night for dinner and stuff like that, right? Plenty of room parked anywhere.
Did everything in its stride and I think this one will just do it a bit better. So watch this space Sunday.
I actually there was a couple of car things on and I got the scamp out and took that for a little drive.
So that was really good to get that out in the sun again and it started of course the first time it just went like a little train. My son has swapped it over with
the Integra. We've had another fiddle with
the Integra, which last time I checked in about that wasn't running great, but we've sorted that out.
That was actually a little control unit on the distributor.
So it wasn't the same as Alfred Rowan's CRX that did the distributor that that sort of burnt, burnt it out.
But yeah, we just swapped another distributor onto it and it, yeah, it just drove perfectly.
I think that car probably had a problem with the distributor for quite a while and under 3000 it just didn't seem to want to pull as, as it should have. You'd get to 3000 and it would
pull like like mad. So, but now it's great.
It's just pulled right through all the gears and, and right from, you know, 1000 ribs. So it's, I think that's sort of
that car now. So fingers crossed that'll be.
It's only how a distributor does that.
Like it's the same thing on on the MR2.
It'll just be like really blah, blah, blah.
And then you get up and it'll scream.
But once I got the whole life fixed, I changed the car, completely changed it. Yeah.
And people I think who drive them, and I'm probably guilty of it. You, you don't know because
you've never known any different.
Or it's been like that for so long that you don't realise.
And it's only when it's put right again you go ah.
Yeah, yeah. So I'm thinking incrementally
too. I think they, they, they sort of
deteriorate some sometimes. So yeah, you don't even notice
it that way because you think, you know, you get to a point you realise that actually it did used to be better than this.
But that's how ever since I got it, it's had that hesitation down low but doesn't appear to have it now so.
That's when when I bought my MX5 out of Sydney, you know, I drove down and that it was just not as clean revving as as a couple of others I'd I'd had or driven over the years.
And, you know, again, they all sort of get, you know, used and abused in the same way. And eventually I took it out to
the MX5 factory who are no longer around.
The guy retired. But I said, oh, can you?
Can you? What did I say to him?
I said, I think I think it needs might need pod philtre and an exhaust or you know, I was going down that road of sort of thinking about how do I get this thing revving more cleanly and pulling better because I've driven other ones that are a bit better. And so I'll leave it with me and
it's just a gummed up throttle body, you know, so you cleaned out the throttle body and cleaned the butterfly, whatever.
That just gets gunked up in so many modern cars.
I think with just stop start short runs and all that probably never been done, you know, and it felt like it had a turbo on it. It was unbelievable.
You know, that that drive home in the cool night air.
When I picked it up, I just thought, oh, this is this is amazing. This is a different car really.
And so anyone I tell who's got an NA MX5, I'm like, get the throttle body properly cleaned and adjusted.
Whatever I, I said, you won't regret that very, very cheap fix. And I remember Rowan actually
our friend who mentioned before he, you know, he used to work as a mechanic and a facade, but I think he would clean out a lot of throttle bodies on Saabs. You know, they had gummed up and
then they would just run so much.
Smoothly ones did it too, pretty regularly.
They needed it, yeah. On top of that, when I had that
waggon that I did that myself a few times and yeah, it makes such a difference to them. Yeah, yeah.
There you go. One other thing with Ian one
actually one of the things I was fiddling around with, obviously it's got the Japanese spec head unit in it.
The last, the last image on the on the SAT NAV is the docks at Nagoya where it was loaded onto the ship.
But yeah, everything in Japanese.
And, and my, my youngest son got into it the other night and said, oh, you're going to are you going to get that swapped out or are you going to, you know, convert that to English?
You said, oh, look, I don't think you can.
I think in the the red car, I never could work out how to do it. And I sat for ages trying to
fiddle around with Google Translate on my phone trying to do it. And I said, I think it's the
thing with the K cars, because they're only domestic market only, they don't have that capability to put them into English. She said, Nah, I don't think
that's the case. And he just goes boom, boom,
boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
That's all in English now. All the all the music's in, all
the images are in English, every, everything, all the awesome. So yeah, that's very cool.
Oh, and the other very cool thing about this that the red one didn't have is it's still got the little little voice telling you to put the ECETC card in.
There's two other little Japanese lady telling me every time I get in the car to put the ETC card in.
Yeah, yeah. How do you say that in Japanese?
ETCSI can't reproduce, I must. Get David Pardo.
Or something, Pardo Yeah, yeah. And but yeah, very lovely young
Japanese lady tells me every time I put the UTC card in.
So which is every Japanese car, you know, whenever you rent a car in Japan that has it. But the and I was thought the N1
would have it the original one, but it didn't.
But this one does. So hopefully get tangled by that
I that's not part of your compliance or roadworthy.
That's good, man. Alan Deep.
Got a good news text from the lovely Mr. David Prince, the
interior God who has fixed my glove box.
I'm yet to collect it unfortunately.
That's a new one. I like to put that on the side
of my van, shouldn't I? Can I?
I'll make you a new business card, The Interior God.
And then you have like just a Dash Alan thing.
You know how? Is this?
The MX5. What's wrong with the glove box?
Well allow me to regaling again. Now, I don't hold this against
Maddie, he does I. Don't.
Know. Yeah, actually, every time you
say. That I don't hold with that into
Maddie, but Oh my God, do you let him know.
Yeah. Basically when we were
installing the new head unit, upon trying to reinsert it, the one part of it which is just a little dub that I guess you know allows it to pivot the other side is a little I guess clip style thing and. Like a sun visor clip sort of
thing. Yeah, it.
Kind of broke off the top. It still hung on, you know,
because of that Japanese plastic reliability.
But being aged, obviously it did crack.
And so it's kind of been hanging on for dear life the entire time. So if I keep the glove box
closed, there's a slight sag, but you know, you can't really tell. It's fine.
But the moment you open up, it just falls.
So I thought, you know, who better to get it fixed by than you know, once again, the interior God, Mr Deb Prince, who's got the best knowledge in fixing, you know, all the little ailments of old cars in their interiors that.
Is true. Let's just wait and see if it
actually doesn't. Doesn't break going back in.
So look. It's it'll probably still be
better than you know what it was.
I'm just going to really, really carefully just get it and never open it again. He'll.
Drive a heat gun onto it just to just to warm everything up and make it a bit bit, yeah. Do a nice and carefully and then
I've been sourcing out some parts just because of the nature of the mechanic. It might be quicker for me to
source the timing kit. I think I'll just go for a Gates
kit with the water pump. They're only about 150 bucks.
They're not bad. Yeah, and that gives me prank
seal Cam seals, so I might need to buy a rocker cover seals again just. Just do your rocker cover gas.
Yeah, because it's coming off anyway, so might as well.
And I think all up with the labour, I'll probably be under $1000 if I source the parts for myself.
So that way I've got the car 100%.
And then, you know, either Ed can come check it out because it's, you know, full roadworthy proof or, you know, I can start, you know, Hocking in on the MX5 lists.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
And then I can see I I've decided on cars that I'd like to look at, but then my mum said, oh, I'd like a car And you know, she's taking priority, which I'm a bit.
Well, no, what I said was, Hey, mum, how about I get you an automatic Mitsubishi Evo 10. And she's like, what kind of car
is that? I'm like, oh, you know, it's,
it's nice. It's a relatively modern, it's a
good automatic and. What's she driving now, Ellen?
Nothing. What happened?
64 Little Suzuki thing. The Suzuki got sold to Nathan,
who's a friend. She's and at the time, you know,
mum really didn't need to drive. So she was, she was 100% OK with
that. But yeah, she eventually planned
on getting a car. Now she's a little more keen on
driving because obviously dad being sick, but she wants a car that she can drive. She she thinks the D Max is a
bit too unruly and she doesn't Dr manuals.
So the STI and the MX5 are out. I thought, you know, Mum, you
could drive a Toyota Crown, you know?
Yeah, they got reversing cameras and everything.
About 2015 jazz. Yeah, I got 2 jazzers. 08/15
perfect. Oh, they got cameras.
Yeah, Bluetooth camera, it's VTIS, got the alloys, got the Bluetooth, all that in. Send me a few pics, Ed talk,
we'll talk. She's.
Actually, she's actually pro jazz.
The MX5. Sorry.
Maybe I can trade the MX5, yeah. I can do a parts exchange.
I actually. Look strange at OT.
Saves us both a lot of headaches.
Just had a new windscreen today. Yeah, no, send me a few pics
through Ed, I'll I'll show Mum there.
You go. And, and, you know, because she,
she actually was saying one of the cars she wanted, she's like, what about those Honda Jazz? I'm like, they don't make them
anymore, Mum. Yeah, unfortunately, but I have
one. You know, if that's the case,
what colour is it? That's Pearl white.
Pearl white. Oh, Lemon.
Yeah, you're getting me real excited there because that they love a white carve appearance for some reason.
I'm like, can we get something blue?
Special white because it's Pearl.
Pearl White. Yeah.
I'm saying now, alum, you can have a look.
Oh, that's sounded good, Ed Sounded good.
So look at that. You know the the power Car Talk.
I didn't even think of it. David mentioned it.
Thank. You All in all in parts.
David gets a nice meal out. Nice dinner.
I'm a terrible car salesman. I mean, I mentioned it in my car
update, so you know you you know about it.
Yeah, the photo's looking pretty promising yet.
It's a clean I will. I'll show it to my Mama when I
when I get home. That's.
Perfectly, that's two keys. I just topped up The Reg O2.
Another three months on it. Oh, three months.
I want a year if I'm trading you the MX5 for the year.
A year. Yeah, well, I'll change my way
then. And you're doing the timing belt
even though it's not due. It's more about the camp seal
leak. I.
Think you'd take this offline at this stage?
Yeah, OK. No, people want to hear.
This. Isn't how you negotiate for a
car. That's we're we're starting Car
Talk hustling. It's negotiating cars and car
flipping. What you do is you buy a car and
you just trade it with your friends and everybody's happy.
Anyone want a Jeep? No, no, we have to wait till one
of us get sick and you know, is it the sound of mind and they will buy the Jeep. But yeah, that's, that's about
all the updates. So, you know, I think things
looking promising on the the MX5 front to get it moving along the the rest of the car's just sitting there.
I think I would like to take the STI to work on Friday or fun car Friday. Yes, we have to get Sharon to
bring the Type R. Yeah, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll go
on Thursday and take it out for us, as you can think.
All right. I also got to make sure the
weather's good though, and it's looking like a sunny day.
Yeah, it's coming out. Yeah, it's coming out.
Car dates with me. Nobody cares.
Nobody cares. So no, I I haven't really done.
I don't think I've done much this week with cars.
Yeah, not much at all. I took the Typhoon out to Cars
and Coffee on Sunday. I didn't see it there.
It was there. It was next to a VJ charger,
which belongs to a good friend of the show, Adams.
So So yeah, he's. I was invited to Cars and
Coffee. I was going to like a last
minute thing. He's like, do you want a car?
Like, sure. So I'm like, I don't know.
OK, Sorry. Alan.
What? Was this cars and coffee?
Mad him, right? Mad him.
Right. It was Hibal at the mall.
It's in Preston. Preston.
Yeah, I ought to come to Preston, maybe.
It maybe, yeah, yeah. More than Preston.
Oh yeah, I guess you'd be. It's kind of there did.
You see Volkswagen there, the Type 3.
I did. I didn't see him there, but I
saw, I saw, I saw Harley there with the with the Merc.
Well, I waved to Harley. Yeah.
And I met, I think his name's Campbell again with the SR2, but he had the one of The xx race cars out there for.
Oh, that's the detailing guy, isn't it?
The detailing guy, yeah, that's. It.
Yeah, I mean. So, so we had a good chat about
that. Turns out that car's actually
registered as A2 seater only, which is, which is quite funny for, for one of those because it's had had the cage in the back and it's telling me the story behind it.
And yeah, so, so that was pretty cool.
We got, we got talking about that and I was like, you should have told me. I would have brought mine.
So, so that was that was that was a good afternoon.
Morning, I should say, and then, then into afternoon.
But yeah, that's pretty much it on my car updates.
I think. Gentlemen, moving on to
tonight's topic, Few things I wanted to talk about, but first and, and, and one of the probably the the more interesting things is, is the topic of what are the best versions of ordinary cars you've ever seen?
Now, Chad's on the show tonight because because Chad was the reason why I've I've wanted to talk about this.
He linked me and a few other people linked me in the same car. It's a Peugeot 2O5 Lacoste.
Oh yes. Yeah, Lacoste edition.
They never came to Australia. The Lacosta European only, but
no European. Only correct.
Yeah, but white and like green interior and.
Got the crocodile thing on, doesn't it?
Isn't. It on the dashboard and on the.
I know it's got the crocodile on the on the on the stereo as well. So I was like, that's that's
kind of cool for a for, you know, kind of like an ordinary car, even though, even though like they did like do a hot version of the GTI version you've.
Got a little crocodile on the side as well.
It does on the side of the car. Yeah, it's, it's a really cool,
funky looking little car. I'm a big fan of a 205.
I think they're I think they're they're not a particularly well built vehicle, but they they're a good little fun little car.
And every time I see one, I kind of it was like, oh, it's 205.
It's it's one of the one of the few Peugels that I actually kind of do like. So so I saw that and and Chad, I
were like, oh man, imagine having this.
This would be so cool. You'd, you'd win cars and coffee
every time. So we wanted to talk to you
guys. What are some of the some of the
best versions of some like mundane cars that that you've seen? And why were they so good in, in
your eyes? So I'll leave it in your cable
hands, gentlemen. When you say best versions like
like, it can be a limited edition like the Lacoste.
Or yeah. It could be a limited edition or
it could be could be the hot one.
Like an Olympic spirit, Camry. Olympic Spirit, Camry.
Absolutely yes, Spirit. So, so we've talked about like
in particular like special special editions, but like, you know, like obviously, like for example, the the sportsgirl Marina was was never a a hot, a hot thing, but you know, it was still cool, right? And and, you know, and it's
just, but that could we could also talk about like a Cordia GSR, you know, like a you know, that like that was a cool version of that of that, you know, particular mundane car.
Because I could still I could be not going I'll be I'll be in a standard Cordia. And it wasn't great.
Yeah, it wasn't a great thing, but the turbo ones were always kind of wow that that's a turbo. So so yeah, believe it those.
In NSW for one. They did, they did.
There's there's there's a few photos of one on nine of them and like that. But yeah, I wanted to get your
opinion on some good, like some cool versions of interesting of like of mundane cars. It was, I recall the I think
Holden and Suzuki would badge does the same thing.
You know, like the Swift, the Swift GDI, the little little 80s ones, and then they did that into the 90s.
I think they did a GTI Swift. They did they they had two 1.3
Gtis, they had the early 80s one and then they had the.
Rarer one and then the more roundy one, the 81 yeah, those those were such a you know, they were a good little car, but they're a dull, you know, often bought, you know, first car, really low spec, etcetera. So the the high spec ones, the
Gtis are are very rare. In fact, there was one of the
last, I think it was at the last Japanese car show thing at Bandura, and it's done thousand KS, 13 or 30.
I can't. 1313 thousand. KS yeah, I remember there was a
three in it and it was just like wah where do you find that?
Was that the red one? The red one, yeah, is.
It red or was it? Red.
It was red. It was red.
Yeah, yeah, that. I mean that that is a rare,
rare, rare beast. So I mean the second ones, the
swoopy ones, that that was the whole, there's a Holden Barine at GS, I think that was. Yeah, there was.
GGSIGSI maybe? That was the Astra Astra.
OK, maybe it wasn't GS. I think it was a what?
Arena as well. Yeah.
I think that was the the the whole equivalent of the GTI Suzuki, the GS, yeah. Let's have a look.
So they they, I think the GSS were.
I went to uni with the guy that had one of those that, that swoopy one GS thing and he he loved Schumacher.
And so he got the number plate, Shumi SHMI, and he had that on, on that, you know, it's like, yeah.
Where's shoot me today, I wonder?
Shoot me now, I wonder. Now I'm intrigued.
Is it on a car? So the GS wasn't wasn't the GTI,
it was just it was just there like the kind of sportier version that it wasn't it's just stuff version.
But it was still it was still a carbon non, you know, non non twin Cam engine, not twin Cam. OK, so.
We are definitely. The twin Cam was was was was
what was special about a 1300 twin Cam, you know, quite a really little motor in a, in a quite lightweight car.
They went well and they were. They're very sought after, like
for a nice original one these days, very sought after.
Then I think that gave way later to the Ignis Sport didn't.
It did correct, yeah. Shumi is currently on a 2020
Mazda waggon finished in red, so maybe that's the family.
He's got a couple of kids now. Family truck star.
There's a, a good Facebook page. I, I can't even remember the
name of it, but it pops up and they say it always starts off with, you know, it's 1985 and you've, you've middle management, You've got to choose your new company car and it goes through the spec of which car you, you know, which, what your options are. As far as in 85.
You know, you could get a new fancy Magna or you could get a 85 that was still Corona. And then that took about which
spec you choose. Or if you had to choose between
AVC Commodore and an XD Falcon, you know which, what spec would you go 4.2 manual or would you go the 310 pack 5 litre or so
Often I think the best version of mundane cars has really got a lot to do with the spec. You know, it's got a lot to do
with the trim level and the options that you could get.
I mean one sort of 5 speed gearboxes became optional in lots of different things. The first car I my second car I
started off with the district nursing Corolla and then moved up to an 81 KE 55 CS 5 speed, but I had to go to 5 speed because it had the badge that 5 speed was.
Speed on the boot. Yes, on the on the boot lid.
So that made and the Geminis at the time too, they the optional, the 5 speed was optional in the TCS and or TDs I think by then.
And yeah, they also came with the badge that was that was pretty special. Did you?
Ever hear people, David, back in the day saying, Oh no, we don't need that. We've we've made do with four
gears all this time. There's no need.
Why would you have another gear just get too complicated.
That's just did people. Say that, though, Yeah.
Oh. Yeah, they did, yeah.
And often the base model was a four speed and then yeah.
That's right. The top one was the five.
Yeah. Mazda were good at doing that.
They had a lot of four speeds and then the the top top the update 1.432 threes still A4 speed in the in the low
spectrum, but a 5 speed in the Super deluxe.
Super Deluxe, it's. Like driving on a freeway a bit
nicer, doesn't? It it does extra cog Well, what
are some other ones, guys? So actually, before we do that,
David, I want you to think of a few good, good cars with the right spec that you want that you want to talk about.
So I'll give you I'll give you a few moments to have a think while we continue this discussion on Scotty.
What do? What do you think?
So we're talking just mundane cars that have got upgraded.
So I guess there was the Mitsubishi.
Does the rally art go into that or are we talking?
About rally art. Not as crazy because that had
huge high hopes. That one.
I mean, pretty much had a lot of EVO body kit parts thrown on it.
But I think I was reading that they kind of run out of money so they couldn't do too much to the engine that they really wanted to do. That thing could have been an
absolute rocket ship. Sorry, which rally are you
talking about? The Magna.
The Magna. Sorry.
The Magna. Yeah.
Yeah, yes. So the Magna Braley art, that
could have been something fantastic.
It was, they, they gave it a red hot crack that they put an LSD in it in the manual. They, you know, they, it, it
handled quite well. It drove apparently really well.
They, they, you know, they put different cams in it, different tuning, etcetera. And, and it apparently it
buoyed, you know, 6 1/2 seconds to 100.
It's not a slow car. It's still quick by today's
standards really. But here I think they just
didn't have enough money to to to do all the things that they really wanted to do because they placed a supercharger too, from memory. Yeah, I think it was
supercharged. I only think they were planning
to turbocharge that one. I think from yeah, from reading
just turbocharged but. There were a few I think made it
onto the market. They had a Sprintex supercharger
on them. That was the later three 80s
they they did. The three 80s.
And they did TMR which was the supercharged version.
That was around the same time that you had the Orion TI.
He was supercharging and then the 380 came out with the supercharged ones. I missed those times.
That was a great that was a great era for Aussie cars, wasn't it really? It really was.
I think like people say, oh, the pinnacles were the 70s, I think it was the mid 2000s, like the, the Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi, Toyota, we're doing, we're doing amazing things in this country and it is, it is sad that that's gone.
I would also add to, to, to your one with the, with Mitsubishi.
I was going to say the what's called the Galant VR4, the Galant. The Galant was a pretty boring
car. And then they then they came out
all wheel drive, you know, 4G63 turbo rally machine that you know, was really good and you know, did very well.
So it's interesting to to see like for me that like that's if, if I think of a mundane car, I think of a yeah, that's nothing really special. But then the then they came up
with AVR 4 as a posh that did that.
That's something. And then AMG got their hands on
them in a few different parts of the world, which not many.
People. Yeah, they did, yeah.
And then they were really fun. So so you you want a rear AMG by
Mr by Mitsubishi. Yeah, my great.
Aunt had a Ford Escort, late 70s, I wanna say 7778, but that was the yeah, Mark two Escort. That was the gear.
The European formula. Yeah, and it had sporty little
wheels and black vinyl seats. I think it had the little boot
spoiler too, the little rubber boot spoiler on it.
And it always was just a bit. And it was manual, you know, so
it was always a bit a little bit special and it was in in Immaculate condition, you know, it was all two litre, yeah, two litre key. They had no on them.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
And it was that beigey colour, you know, back colour, but Oh no, the beige with the black interior and the wheels.
And it was just quite a it was a top spec model.
Spec. Spec which I called.
Lash. I think they called that colour.
What was it called? I think it was Banana blush
banana. Blush.
That's a terrible name. They did have a colour called
banana blush around me. Speaking of banana Blush, here's
Adrian joining the put. Can you hear me?
Can you hear loud and clear mate?
Yes. Oh my God, is everything
working? Well.
Well, not the camera. How are?
You. How are you find out?
That Adrian's actually been trying to connect for the last 40 minutes. Yeah, Adrian has been trying to
connect for the last 40 minutes. Quite literally so.
Don't don't get me started. It's been an absolute nightmare
trying to get all this to work. This is what happens when you
give your laptop to people that don't deserve it.
So this is what happens when Adrian starts hitting close to 30. Can't make it work.
Well, welcome, Adrian. You've joined us at a right time
because we're talking about great versions of otherwise mundane cars. So, so, so we've talked about
the cars like the Gallant VR4 and the, and the, and the Magna rally art and, and stuff. So and lacrosse 205 so, so we've
we've talked about some some really some really fun, fun examples. So we're just going around.
I'll give you a couple of minutes to think out here while while while you I've got another one.
Yeah, Ed, go I. Go like mine, plain Jane, but
they did a top one called an extra track, which was the four wheel drive to you know, and Mitsubishi did a similar thing with the Express. What did they call that I
forget? And and Ford and Mazda, this one
with the Spectrum and the the other one they had, they had a four wheel drive Spectrum and they had a four.
Yeah. Weird period.
And people move. The vans that were otherwise
very plain Jane suddenly became 4 wheel drives.
Like what makes you think I want a van and a full drive all in one? It's kind of bizarre, but they
were all doing it at the time. I found it weird because like
especially like when you see like a Delica this and they're jacked up on these mud muddy wheels and you see them go around corners, they look like they're quite literally going to tip and. A tip over?
Yep. They're not made for it, but you
know, you know, got got got me 4 wheel drive.
It's yeah. They they really are very top
heavy. I, I don't think I could, I
could do that. Like it's they, they quite
literally every time I see what I'm, I'm like, you are driving.
You are one windstorm away from tipping over Like, like that, that is. Light deep away from being on
your side. Yeah, Speaking of the four wheel
drives, Pajero the evolution. Not Pajero either.
Yeah, Good, good. That's a good.
One, Yeah, yes. Claim Jane the rally champion.
Yeah. That thing was awesome.
They're commanding good money these days too.
There's people like, oh that, that's actually a very cool colour. That's a great one.
What about you, Alan? The first one's a relatively
simplistic 1, the TRD Orion. You know, you go from basic dad
car to, you know, the sporty dad car.
Yeah, fast dad car where like, you know, you still have to be a responsible family man, but, you know, you do want to have some fun. And they pumped out about 240
something kilowatts. 241, I think it was, yeah.
Which you know to the front wheel is not the best idea, but you know the cars the cars still command respect these days and a good amount of money. I think the cheapest one is 20
something thousand on on car sales so.
Bought that one for 12. Yeah, bought that one for 12.
They're they're pretty sick cars.
The other one I'll give. I need to, you know, presuppose
this with technically the Civic isn't a mundane car, but it it, you know, the base Civic, realistically, you know, it was very much a average car. And that's why the third
generation, which also included the Civic shuttle or Wagger.
Yeah, the Wagger van. That's a cool car.
That's a cool. Car they came with, you know,
well, Alan didn't because, you know, we were cheap, but they came with an old drive system. Yeah, yeah.
So you, you had something that was definitely a tier above, you know, East End of Civic Plus. It was, you know, the whole
waggon, you know, you had that storage space.
You could go places, you know, I don't think it had extra seats, but you could at least throw stuff in there.
Like a waggon for me makes anything cooler and then waggon with a wheel drive makes it just like the perfect car.
It's a place to go. It's a car to go any place.
Yeah. And you know, it's a shame
again, because we didn't have the, the one with the, the old drive. But you know, I have to think
we, we, we had the spirit we had.
The spirit of it, absolutely we did.
Get the in the 4th Gen civics. We did get the four wheel drive
waggon here, you know not many of them, but they're quite expensive. But the RTX was for the had the
real time. I remember those.
Yeah, they were cool. They were cool.
I don't think I've ever seen one.
There was one. No you weren't at Phillip
Island. The few people in the car club
had them and one guy still got one but he often at classic Japan. It's a white one.
They had a weird spec for Australia for some reason.
They all came with a sunroof and but no power steering and a 5 speed gearbox with an extra low first gear as well.
So like a like an actual position across the nut for extra low or real low or something for like a crawler gear. So yeah, what could that's only
a spare parts nightmare, isn't it?
Trying to find its. Yeah, I'd like to get a new
gearbox for a. Civic RTX or what?
Yeah, that often. The power steering was an easy
fix because everything bolted on just from a sedan or a hatch and you could just and I think by the time that there were three in the club they all had power steering fitted to.
Were they? Were they US built?
I know Japanese. Built Japanese, Built.
OK, Speaking of Speaking of waggons, you know the the SG generation of the Forester, they had an STI version.
I mean, I don't know why they'd have an STI version, but they had an STI Forester, which are a few getting in the country now.
And you know, especially in World Rally Blue with the gold wheels, they look pretty awesome.
Bimbo brakes behind them and stuff.
I'm like, that is a cool car, that is.
There is also just a little bit of goofiness to it absolutely, because when you, when you add the colour combination and then you know, the gold rooms and everything else, you're like, it's like somebody's like stretched out.
WRX. And WRX like stretched upwards
yeah, but still definitely something I'd rock.
Absolutely 6 speed manual, you'd be the ultimate lesbian soccer mom in one of those and it is it's you know, two more lesbian soccer moms represent that is a car that that I would totally get behind. That's a a very cool car.
Speaking of that, Matthew, at Highball Cars and Coffee on Sunday morning, I'm not sure if you saw the Forester that was in attendance with the plates LSBIAN.
Yes, I did. Yeah, Yeah.
And it he had it in the car wash, there was a guy washing it. And I'm like, hang on, you're
cheating. Dude, I had probably like three
or four people send me that car on, yeah, Instagram.
They're like, Matt, see, it is the thing.
I'm like I told you. I told you it was.
I reckon our best friend of the show, Melissa Wrong, would have laughed when that one came through.
It's I'm surprised it got through, but she would have.
She would have seen the funny side of that.
So to, you know, I mean, us fellow lesbian soccer homes, we need to, we need to, you know, respect each other and and that that plate was was brilliant. I I, I laughed so hard when I
saw that. I was like, this is this, this,
this makes sense. It just, it just works.
So, so yeah, that was that was pretty, pretty good.
Any other ones, Joan? Mitsubishi 380 the TMR.
Yeah, well, we mentioned that just before you got on.
Yeah, really cool car, really rare car.
I don't think they made, I don't think they made more than like 12 or something of them. Like they're they're super rare.
All I know is that one recently got smashed in the rear and they were selling like they were stripping all the parts off it.
OK. And the supercharger itself is
up for sale for like 5 grand. Yeah.
I don't know if it would count, but maybe like the X5 is an X5 M's. Yeah, I know that there was one
that was only made where they put AV 12.
An X5 was one of the Formula One engines.
I don't know if that counts. Yeah, we'll take it because
that's that's utterly ridiculous in a otherwise standard car.
So yeah, that's that's, that's fair.
It's quite hilarious. Yes, it is quite hilarious.
I, I, I do like that one. That's just like when they when
they made the one and only E30 M3 Ute.
I think in the in which which which was like the the parts car for or like they shutting parts up and down the, you know, different parts of BMW headquarters.
Speak of that, just a little bit off topic.
You just reminded me. Did you ever see the five series
Ute that was made for the golfer?
Yes, I did. Yes, it was E30 E 39, wasn't it?
E39. Yeah, that's currently sitting
at the museum in Shepparton. Oh, really?
Yeah, I went a couple of weeks ago and it was sitting there and I'm like, oh wow. Like it was cool seeing that.
And then I thought of Edge straight away because I saw Honda City there with the bridal compo in the back.
What? Colour was it?
Red and red. Oh, red and red.
Yeah. That's it.
Oh yeah. I wonder if that's the old city
I had that was being advertised with the red it.
Probably is. Could well be it.
Was red on red it. Was red and red.
Yeah. Did you guys mention the
Mercedes? I think it was the 190 E.
Oh, the Cosworth. The Cosworth, yes.
I did mention that it's a good one.
That's a little bit special compared to your bog standard taxi pack. Yeah, yeah, just a little.
Bit especially with an E, especially with an evo too, like you look at in comparison, you're like, Oh my goodness, what the hell. But yeah, funny thing I actually
just found recently too, is what a lot of people are doing in Japan is they get the, I can't remember which one it is.
I think it's the S 660 if I remember correctly.
So it's the new ones, the V twelves, and they're putting the like $18,000 exhaust on them and they sound like F1 cars, like Lambos and stuff. It is the funniest thing I've
ever seen because everybody's watching a car, they're like, where's this sound coming from? And then you see like this stock
Merc come past. Yeah, the the, the S600's the
yeah. The S 660 is quite a little
Honda. And I was like, is that what
you're meaning? No, it's S600.
I don't know my Max. Yeah, I'll be the first one to
say it. V12 there's there's videos of
this car they put like it was a $12,000 exhaust on it.
Yeah, it's, it sounds like a Bugatti's.
Well, it's the same engine as a Bugatti's under, Really.
Well, they did the same with the century.
They did. They did, you know I.
Was pissing myself off it. Well, it's a cheap It's a cheap
way to get something real exotic if you look at it.
I'd hate to own one, but my God would it sound good.
Scotty, what do you think? I'm thinking of, I'm jumping to
Ford for you, Matt. I'm thinking TS and TA50.
Yeah. Absolutely.
A lot of work into that thing that was great.
Ended up in a Game 2. Did need for speed?
It was a hot pursuit. Yeah, wasn't there a Ford verse
holding on as well? There was, yeah or no.
High stakes. High stakes.
High stakes, Yeah. High stakes, too, Yeah.
You know this one of those AUTS 50s at the Shepperton Museum as.
Well, there you go. Yeah, in blue.
But to be honest, that was one of them.
That was probably the. That was the most special
version of the AU, which we all know is the greatest car ever made. But no, but the, the, the AU,
you know, had had a horrendous life, but there was a special car. It was, you know, it was a
stroked engine hand built. It was pretty special, like
there was something there was something really special about a very mundane AU Falcon considering the AU one Forte waterfall grille looked like Bambi on stilts because the the the tyres were so indented and it just didn't look right with the hubcaps and ATS 50 looked like ATS 50.
It was pretty special. That was a pretty special car.
So that's a grey one, Scotty. Yeah, I think they they nailed
it. Like even the looks like people
might not like the headlights, but the headlights still look the same. But for some reason it looked
right. Yeah, yeah.
I think that's, yeah, something special from Ford.
Even some just Fords like the Ford Fairmont gear, the upmarkets kind of throw that in there, it's a little bit special. Considering it's.
Too many of the gears kicking around.
Considering what they what they were based on.
Yeah, yeah, Can. Yeah, exactly.
That's what I was trying to think of.
You know what it was based on and what it pretty much looks like on the outside. But everything you get on the
inside is where it really counted because like.
They kept pushing there. There was no glass ceiling for
spec. Like you had the Falcon, then
you had the as well, and then all the Fairmont is a bit better than the. Hang on, hang on.
There's another one. There's another one, yeah.
It's funny you say that though, because most Bas and all those Falcons, they sold XTS or Glis and stuff and the people that bought like Fairmont gears were usually like retiring people, like really old, old men and women.
That bottom was their last car and they looked after them.
And every time you go, like, you know, and then you still see them drive around and their old Fairmont gear because it was a, you know, top spec of, of what, of what they could get.
And there's something to be said about that.
Like, I don't think there's any cars these days that you could say, Oh yeah, it's my last car, but I'm gonna, I'm gonna buy a top spec, you know, Mercedes for $400,000 that, you know, these were attainable kind of cars. And, you know, and they always
had, they were quite nice, you know, they were it.
Was like cruising in your lounge room.
Correct. Yeah.
Yeah, exactly right. They're just all the bumps, very
comfortable seats. You're right Matthew, with the
the top spec, but you also got people buying the bottom spec too as their laugh, you know, So you don't tend to get in the middle. You tend to get they're really
splashed out or they just scrape the barrel to get that brand new car and had to go base. Well, you could do David Prince
and always buy the mid spec because that's the that's the that's the perfect spec you. Always.
Are you a mid spec buyer, David? Oh, I.
Tend. To build the last few few cars I
have new bought new I've I've bought min spec just because there's a there is a point in the range where where you get I think that. The sweet spot?
The sweet spot? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But for what you're paying compared to what?
You're getting yeah, sometimes they do go silly in top spec like it's, it's, it's a it's and the things you're getting you just go no like. Well, you know, you know how
much I love a sunroof and I, I think when we bought the CRV we, you know, you could get a panoramic roof in those and, and, but it was another 10 grand over the one because it also came in. Because it comes with everything
else. It comes with seven seats and
four wheel drive a little. I didn't want all that, I just
wanted. All the things you don't need,
yeah. So it wasn't worth 10 grand for
a sunroof, but yeah. So no, there's definitely a
sweet spot. I've got a jigsaw machine.
We can. We can cut one if you'd like.
And then didn't it change with Ford that changed to the like the G6ES or something? GC Yes.
Correct. And then FPV launched their
sporty versions of the typhoons and stuff in the comfortable.
Yep, F6. EF6E or.
GT, ES and stuff. And the 464.
So yeah. Yeah, they'll.
They'll virtually firm on gear interior with yeah just all F6 running gear which. Is I was looking at those at one
stage. Were they?
They look fantastic. Still available.
They look great were. They still available with the
manual? Or were they all?
Automated or so, yeah, Eve executive.
Yeah, it always, it always bugs me.
I'm just like, you know, just because I like the luxury doesn't mean I don't appreciate a manual.
Yeah, yeah. Now maybe like one of the three
people like that. Probably that was sold in the
UK. That would have been available
as a manual. Yeah, yeah.
There's AG 6E actually on Facebook marketplace I noticed today for $1000 it's pretty cool.
Ecstasy the X taxi it's done 850,000 KS but it's and it's yellow but yeah it's AG 6E with. Yeah.
Hey Bunting, you you like a high mile?
What's it called? FG that's.
Fine. A high mile.
Yeah, it's true. That is true.
That's a bit of you, you, you. You've made money on every
Falcon you've bought. So it's true.
That is true. Cruise around that doing the 24
hour lemons. You do.
You'd be the most comfortable guy there.
Yeah, once you get out of your stick, you're just like, ah, yes. It doesn't matter, I feel a
brand new and. You'd be with a barrel, it'd be
it'd make the end with no issues be like, Oh yeah, well we got here. Couldn't hear yourself thicker
down. It's coming from the diff.
Diff correct, yeah. I was gonna say, if it's an RPG1
then it's all on one tank as well.
Have you guys said the Audi waggons?
No, well like an all Rd. Oh, you know, you think about
it, an A6 waggon, like just bog stock, Yeah.
And then you've got the absolutely, absolutely amazing RS6. Miraculously fast car.
Oh yeah, V10 twin turbo Oh. Yeah, that's insane why they did
that, because that could. You've got Lamborghini, so why
not? Yeah.
That's what the car manufacturers need to do these days. They need to go back to Yeah,
why not? Yeah, it was a little.
GTA running gear in a Duke. Duke.
Yeah, that happened, yeah. The the, what was it called?
The the the Duke I think it was called.
The Duke car. Yeah, so it was virtually the
weirdest car ever, the Duke, and which I still think I still blame for the start of this whole weird car kind of obsession, but we'll get to that later.
They put the G, they put GTR running, running, running, running gear in it. And it's yeah, they they I don't
know how many they saw. They probably didn't sell many,
but I. Think it was the one they made.
Was that available here? No, you couldn't buy them in
Australia. That they were, they were, yeah.
Overseas definitely though. Yeah.
Are you sure? Because I thought they only made
one and it was just because why not?
We could position it. They extended the chassis let.
Me have a look Nismo sorry Nissan Duke.
So they did yeah no, they they sold they sold more more than one I think so OK, they've said here I'm just just trying to find the yeah so they said they plan on buying I want to see how many they sold. Let me let me Google that.
It was made in a limited production. 55 were made.
There's your answer. There you go.
Three firm orders were given, apparently.
So they're like, all right, we'll make 5, we'll make 5.
My firm orders. I'm assuming all money was given
up front. Oh, had to have been.
Yeah, had to have been. I wonder if they ever made more
of the patrol JDR as well. I'm pretty sure there was only
aftermarket, but in Dubai they've got.
Yeah, I'm like, if you're going to find them, you're going to find them in Dubai. Yeah, that's where they all are.
It was Shorty Gu with the JDR running gear.
Nuts. Old Brunei.
Old Brunei, Yeah. You found the Batmobile in
Brunei. Continuing on with engineers
being bonkers, the Renault Clio, the V6.
Yeah, that's a great one. It's engined and rear wheel
drive. Actually, Speaking of the red
eye clown, there's a movie that's out on Netflix.
I think it's, I think it's called Lost Bullet if I remember correctly. But at the start of the movie
they've got an old school Clare with a Lamborghini V10 in it.
Even though you know, Fives, the predecessor, you know, from the 80s been with Turbo, they were playing Jane and sold in France for years and years and years. But there was that Renault 5
turbo rally car which had the scoops down the side and wider, you know, gills and engine. I think that was a mid engine
too. Mid engine, yeah, correct.
Yes. Yep, Yep, Yep.
Very different from the bog standard car.
Maddie, did you say the TX 5? Didn't they have the the turbo
all wheel drive on? No, they had a TX3 turbo all
wheel drive. They had an TX5 turbo.
Turbo they did have a TX5 turbo that's.
The year, not full drive. Yeah, I think that's what I'm
thinking of, the one that would give you torque steer for days.
Yeah, that'll be the TX 5. Yeah, it would.
On the boost you would change lanes.
My mom had a 626 turbo, same shape and I I drove that quite a bit and I can confirm the torque steer is bad.
Like on a wet Rd, you know, with tram tracks around where we live. You know, if you booted if you
came on books on that. Oh, hold on.
Oh buddy, I just thought of. I'd get in trouble for using the
turbo and I'm on my L play it's going.
What about the Cherokees? Well, yeah, what about a
Cherokee? The group Cherokeep, well, Ed
bought a Jeep by the way, just so you.
Know 6.4 Hemi brother. No, there's a better one.
The 6.2 this did the the track hook.
The 6.2 The Hellcat supercharger.
That's the one you. Want we heard one of those
coming down the street the other day at work.
You. Just hit the blind, yeah.
Speak of that, when I went to the museum in Shepparton, which I highly recommend going to, they had the Challenger there, the Hellcat, and I'm like, oh grass.
Like I love Hellcats. It's green car.
I want to buy one one day. This one here just happened to
have a 5.3 litre supercharger sitting on the 6.1 litre motor.
That's nuts. I'm.
Like how? Why?
I I think from, from memory, the the demon, it took like 150 horsepower to run the supercharger like like that, that that's how that's how big the supercharger was.
You know it just it took it May and.
That's a three litre, you're a three litre.
Although the Demon 170 I think is a bigger supercharger again.
Again. Yeah, and.
That's on 170 proof alcohol and that's another one where Dodge just turned around and said I will because I can.
Yeah, that, that is, that is true.
They're not doing that anymore, which is a shame, but.
They they went out with a bang though.
They did a production car like a a petrol production car that does zero to 100 in 1.66 seconds.
Yeah, it's nuts. It's it's prepped surface and
everything, but it didn't do it. Here's one, Here's one for our
for our Swedes. The was it the 95 vegan?
No, sorry. That yeah, the the the real
late. 93 vegan. 93 vegan. That's it. 93 vegan.
That was a that was a cool kind of cool Swede.
Beast as well. Yeah, I've.
I've heard I've. Heard one of those on King's Way
and it did change lanes, yeah. They were quite quick for memory
for from from what very. Quick, if you could hang on and
get the power down. But yeah, for a front drive car,
they shouldn't have had that much power much.
Power yeah and there's another one the that I wanted to to stay with them the 850R in a waggon like.
I was about to say the same thing.
I love those things. So like your your your grandpa's
old Volvo, but this time with a with a big turbo charger on A5 cylinder. Like, come on.
There's some minters come up in the auctions in Japan.
Oh really? I must.
Be getting that stage where people, you know, getting out of them and or you know, they bought them new and they're stopping driving or something like that now, but they they were at the 90s, nineties, yeah so yeah, almost 30 years ago now so yeah, but there's some really clean looking ones coming through from Japan so there'll be a few land.
There's a queen one near me, not a waggon, a sedan, and the plate is Qik 850, but like like, but just a standard plate, like it's a standard issue plate. I was like, oh, that's brilliant
that that's a cool plate And any DD dailies that and I've seen around a few I've seen around a fair bit, but that for me is a that for me is a really, really cool car.
I'm I'm a big fan of that. Any other really interesting
ones before we move on to the quiz?
I'm sure there's many that I have forgotten and will remember later. We have to, we have to revisit
this at another time because there's there's so many, there's so. Many OH.
Yeah. But yeah, we'll, we'll, we'll
come, we'll come back to it definitely.
So tonight's quizmaster is Mr. David Prince.
I think, I think everybody got to give him winning.
So he's like, I may as well make the quiz this time.
Hey, was. The high win last week.
It was it. Was.
It was. Because somebody didn't let us
have more questions. But when I want to tie in, no.
You did. You did.
You added that. Well, shenanigans.
Alan just. Got it.
We couldn't get the answer. We would have come up with more
questions. That's what we do for me.
But I'm trying to have a tie have a.
Tie with me OK, well, this one's a bit different tonight.
There's, there's some, there's actually well about 13 questions, but. Who's gonna win tonight?
I think. And some of them are in a in a
group sort of thing. So is that?
The bonus question kind of thing or yeah.
Yeah, it is, and there's some bonus questions thrown in too.
OK, cool, cool. So you're happy to score,
Maddie? Absolutely got all ready ready
to go. I've got some closest twos and
I've got some. The first section tonight is
cars that share parts. So I'm gonna give you pairs of
cars and they have something common and you've got to tell, you've got to tell us what what the common part is.
Some of the cars aren't so excited, but there'll be familiar people on the show. Like that?
That's cool. OK, so first up we've got the
Volkswagen Corrado, which was the successor to the early sort of Shiraka and the McLaren F1 Allen Allen.
Starter murder. Incorrect.
Ed. Ed.
Tail lights. Incorrect.
Yeah, no, not on the McLaren phone.
They're actually bus tail lights I read on the McLaren F1.
Oh. Really.
Interestingly. They'll probably sell them at
work, yeah. Car spotters in Melbourne have
had that car on on Facebook a couple of times just in the last little while because it was up at Cairns, at the concourse in Cairns. But it lives in Melbourne and
they they reckon it's worth $15 million.
And and your and your, your bus lights are off a scan.
Yeah, that's right. That's right.
I'm. Just trying to think because the
Corrado had a had a like a automatic spoiler, but I don't know if that I don't know if that would be correct.
So I'm not I don't know. I don't think remember the
McLaren if one didn't, it was just, you know, a sleek body, so it can't be that. Matthew, my dear friend, you are
overthinking it. Matthew, is that the answer?
No. No, I'm just telling you you're
overthinking it. What about Scott?
What about Adrian? I guess.
My guess is going to be door handles.
Not quite, no. Not.
Bad, not bad. Oh I love reusing door handles.
They do, yeah. Well, you, you've got that to
look forward to. I don't know steering wheel.
No. Great.
Now the Volkswagen Corrado and the McLaren F1 share the same side mirrors. Oh really?
Side mirrors. OK.
So if you go to McLaren F1, go just go to the wrecker and get a Corrado mirror. Yeah, yeah.
Or go to the Volkswagen rig, get a Corrado mirror and advertise it as McLaren F1. McLaren F1.
Yeah, someone was McLaren's pairs.
I don't need to buy. I'm going to pay all you like
this, get your McLaren spares. Yeah, call Mr. Bean, be like, I
know you're going to reckon again, mate.
Just, you know, let me set you up.
Find out where he lives and keep running past the baseball bat and smack his side here. Score check.
Everybody on 0. Everyone on 0.
Yeah, OK. I do like that.
Question style. David, tell me this part of
work. Hopefully we'll we'll pick no.
I I I like this, David. I think this game is.
Great. OK, second one, the Lamborghini
Bachelago and the Series 1 Ford Focus.
Adrian, Matthew. I was just thinking about this
before. It's the side markers or guard
repeaters. Yep, it is.
We're. Actually just we're reflective.
Yeah, it's the, it's the, they're the, they're the Yeah, they're on the mic one. Focus on the on the guard.
Yep, and good old Matt Armstrong is the reason.
I know that if you watch him on YouTube he was mixing his special Argo for. Me, I think it's Tamarish.
Tamarish. He's building you when he was
rebuilding like his. He's like Lamborghini wants
$1000 and he's going to fall. Ford.
Yeah. But third one, Yep, we have the
Cevelt, Robert Moore, beloved Lotus, Esprit and the Morris Marina. Do those two cars share?
Boris. Marie.
That's what I love. I love the irony of the of of
something, Alan. I'm going with brake callipers.
No, incorrect. I like the guess though,
Matthew, I want to say maybe the switch gear inside of the car, no? I'm going to say because the
Morris Marina did have a unique pool door handle, I'm going to say the door handle. You would be correct, they
shared the outdoor handles. I should have said it.
Yeah, it. Happened the 1st.
Time. You.
OK #4 the Aston Martin DB7. Matthew I I I even know the car.
It's a, it's the, it's the rear tail lights.
No, that's not, Oh no. What are the retailers from?
They're so DB7 and the they're different like a three 2-3.
Yes, they would be correct. Yeah.
No, no, that is true. However, no.
What does the astronaut DB Seven share with the NA MX5?
Hold out anyway. Ed.
The I keep going door handle. I was gonna say the little
Chrome door handle. Yeah, more more information
please in or outer. Outer.
Incorrect. Alan Scott.
Yeah. OK, Bradbury, go for it.
Who was it? Because Alan.
And oh, sorry, Alan. I heard Alan I.
Heard Alan. Inner door latch.
Correct. Hang on, what's it the same as?
So my mix 5 is the same as a. Aston Martin DB7.
There was model highball, wasn't there?
A DB7 or an MX5DB? Seven.
I thought I started DB seven there.
Well, we could have checked out the door handles.
If you're then yeah, there and you should have put the elbows with them. You said, well, you know,
they're both the same. #5 This is a good one.
Well, David, I just want to say you screwed me.
So Mr doesn't wait for the question to be completed.
I have the goal. I like how you put it.
You were too. That is the one everybody.
Knows has the goal to come. Well, now you know the other
one. Yeah.
And now you need to be patient. It's it's the one I actually
knew. And I was like, I'm like, I got
this and I was just, I had the rug.
Pulled from my. I only got this because of it.
Thank you, Ed. My pleasure.
OK. The fifth one is the Rover 4-5
or the Rover 45, whichever you like to call it, which is basically, oh, I think Honda Concerto based sort of 80s, which is really scary considering what it shares a component with the Pagani Zonda as was mentioned earlier.
Matthew. Matthew.
I think it's the air conditioning panel, correct?
Yeah. The HVAC controls.
Yep, Yep. Well done Matthew.
HVAC controls heating, ventilation, air conditioning.
Yeah, no, I know what it is. I'm just like.
Oh, why would they do it? They're.
Playing in Honda, they're just. But they work.
They work, yeah. They're the best partner to get.
OK number six last one of these the Dodge Viper and the Mitsubishi 3000GT and just a hint it's it's the same thing as one of the others share that we've talked about tonight.
Ed Ed Tail Lights incorrect. Scott Scotty.
Your handle handle. Oof.
No, incorrect, Alan. Oh yes, Mr Bradley.
I'll go with mirrors. Correct.
Thank you. Thank you, gentlemen.
I appreciate you. Score.
Check. Alan to myself, Adrian and Eden.
One Scottie, yet The score. Oh, anyone's game.
Anyone's game. Anyone's game?
OK, so some regular questions, which Euro manufacturer has just announced the end of two door and convertible cars from their model liner? Adrian BMW, I don't know well.
No, that would be wrong. Volkswagen.
Incorrect. Matthew.
Matthew. Audi.
That would be correct. Yeah.
They'll bring up a. Group I won half a point.
Will sprung during technique their way out of no no convertibles. That's correct.
The next Suzuki Swift Hybrid is available with a manual gearbox.
True or false? Ed Matthew.
Ed Pulse Incorrect. Who was in there?
Who got in there? Who got in there next?
Time, I think. I feel like you can't have a
second answer to that. A little.
Obvious. You feel like you can't have a
second answer. That's really surprises me,
Alan. I'm just saying.
Shenanigans, shenanigans, shenanigans.
A group vote, gentlemen. That means you shouldn't have a
point. Find that.
OK, OK. Yep.
Fair, fair. I'll, I'll take that.
Next question. Next question, moving on.
Oscar Piastry won the Hungarian Grand Prix over the weekend.
Is first. What is significant about his
win? Scott Scott, it's his first one.
Just tell me there's something else significant about him winning hearing Oh. I can't go again.
Oh, you can just have a have a few guesses.
I. Was no.
It's because the way McLaren, I guess, made Lando Norris back off and everything, the way they talked to him.
No, incorrect. What are you looking for?
Al. Ed.
I read it in the paper today and I'm going to get it wrong, but it was something like he's the youngest Australian to do it or something. Incorrect.
That's not, not what I was looking for.
OK. And that's not the significant
aspect of his. Yeah.
Anything else they said? He he cheated, but he legally
cheated. Incorrect.
What's? What?
It's all It's all legal until you get caught.
It is true. It is true.
Anyone else? Anyone else?
I don't know, like Scotty took my answer.
Yeah. Go on, get something.
Well, I've got no idea. I'm just going to say it's the
first Aussie not to do with should we?
Incorrect. Maybe Matthew, the youngest
Australian to do it. No, no, that's it.
No, no. Well, no, it's still wrong too.
It's he is. It's the first Grand Prix win by
a driver born this century. Oh.
Wow, 2001. What's the matter?
Half a point. Bonus points, bonus points he's
a Melbourne boy. Which suburb did he grow up in?
And bonus points if you can pronounce it correctly.
Ed. Ed.
Brashon. Correct.
That's two points. Two points.
He's a bright and boy of. Course he is Like, let's be
honest, like none of us are getting into bloody Formula One.
It's funny funny. I actually listen to old
people's radio for 10 minutes yesterday and the the girl in the afternoons interviewed the mum.
So how did he get into this? Well he started with remote
control cars and he really enjoyed that with his dad And then then at about age he said he got into a go Kart and that was it. And he moved overseas at 14, so
he's been racing cars overseas since he was 14.
So that's 10 years. I mean, that's, that's a career.
That's that's shaping him to do what he wants.
Oh, we've always he's always been so enthusiastic.
I thought, yeah, lots of kids are enthusiastic.
Very lucky boy. But well done to him.
Good on, good on your. Good on him.
What on? Yeah, Good win.
OK. 14 Who goes with you? Well, you would I appreciate.
The Butler The Butler does the. Butler.
Who goes with you to do that? Well, it depends where you live.
It's like what Maddie just said over there.
It's the Butler. Yeah, yeah.
It just amazed me actually. I thought, well, OK, that
explains why he's 24 and winning Formula One Grand Prix.
OK, next question. I don't even know what the
numbers are now. Anyway, we all we all know that
Abelovedetto 1600 that we all know and love in America they were called the 510. 5-10 Correct 510.
But what did we call the model? They call the 210.
The 200B. Is that your?
Is that Ed answering that question?
Is that correct, Sir, saying that that's incorrected?
200. Adrian. 210 Adrian. 210 I'm
gonna say that it was a dozen 1200.
Incorrect. Ted.
Scott. Scott.
The 181. No, not a car.
I think that's true. Again, that's not a car.
Now I can't even remember. It was the oh, Matthew.
No, I'll give you give you another chance.
Oh, you Can't Sing it, Scotty. You've got a 120 and a 180. 180
B Bam. Incorrect.
It was incorrect in him, Maddie. 120 Y correct?
210 was the 120 Yi have here. I think I'd rather have a 5-10
than a 210. I think you got it right there.
Sure, sure. Yeah, sure.
Have owned A5A210. Did you have 120 Y?
Oh yeah, surprised. Surprise, surprise, surprise.
Surprise. And you know what?
That car, I got given that car and it was real early on.
I was maybe 14 or so, and I sold it because I got given.
It owed me nothing and I sold it for $550.
And that I thought, oh this buying and selling cars.
Well, I didn't buy, I got given. Selling car.
Thing that's easy money. 550 bucks at 14.
That's what screwed me half. Century that was pretty had.
Someone not given me that car, I might have gone down a real career and actually made something of myself.
I thought was selling cars gets money.
What? You just keep doing it?
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a story of how Ed is now the proud owner of a buy here pay here car lot in Tennessee.
In Tennessee with what's it called like a a 59% interest rate? Yeah, OK.
Next week can we see What Car has sold with the tracker because he knows he's gonna have to reach.
And he has a spare set of keys and he just when they miss a payment, he just sends him a photo with the spare set of keys. He knows they're gonna miss a
payment. He's already parked outside with
the tow truck ready. As soon as he hits like, you
know, 12, he's like bam bam, get it, go.
That's it. Butting.
That's me. Next question.
Are you done? Are you all done?
It needed. It needed to be said.
It needed to be said. Adam, you take that back.
Your Mama might be driving my Jazz real soon.
What do you do? Repossess it.
It would just take your Mama a picture of the other set of keys. Bentley have just announced the
next generation Flying Spur that has the same power plant as the recently launched Continental GT Speed.
How many kilowatts is this twin turbo 4 litre V8 hybrid engine produce closest to. Closest to Matthew, I'm going to
say 520-520-3520 Kilowasps. Kilowasps.
Yeah, 520 kilowasps. LM.
Yep. 473 kilowasps, yes. I'm gonna say it's gonna be 580.
Yep, Adrian. That's the Flying Spur, which is
the same as you said, the Continental GT was it?
GT speed? Yep, it's got a four litre V8
hybrid. Kilowatts, I'm gonna say 555.
50, yeah. It's a good number.
It's a good number, Adrian. Well, it's going to go in the
low fours, but I think that's a bit lightweight, so now I'm going to go. Six, 12612.
There's a speed. There's a speed.
It's in the name, isn't it? Scott gets Guernsey at five, he
said. 580, It's actually 575 kilowarps.
That's a lot. It's a lot of.
Pounds. What does it weigh?
3 tonnes, yeah. Something like that.
Hey, Scotty, you're on the board, man.
Just I was. Going to say yay board.
OK. And next question against two
part question, how many variants of the current mini range are offered in Australia? Sorry, how many models in the
current mini range not variants variance is the bonus question.
OK, so. Alan.
Alan. Three models.
Incorrect. They've just launched a new mini
too, Like a new, new one. I mean it looks the same, but
you know, new new do. You see, the new one's got go
Kart. Mode.
Go Kart mode? Yeah, it's always go Kart mode,
isn't? It it's something.
You put in it turns it to go Kart mode.
I don't know what does, but flashes up on your dial.
Like there was like they got the Cooper, the countrymen.
Oh, sorry. Oh, crap.
Yeah. No, no, no.
No, no, I don't tell you what they are.
We've got the Cooper Three door, the Cooper 5.
Door 5. Door.
Here the Cooper convertible, the club men and the countrymen.
Countrymen, yeah. OK.
So they're the five models closest to.
If you total up those five models, how many variants are there in the current mini range, Ed?
Ed. 21. 21. Alum.
Alum. 15. 15. Matthew, I'm gonna I'm gonna say
if you because the rate, the rate at which you can individualise and chop and change them and and do do different things. I'm gonna say 3033 this.
Is separate. Yeah, separately listed models
this is. 33. Scotty, 2525.
I was gonna say that. Adrian.
Let's say 26. 26 OK, this time Maddie gets the gets the
chocolates at 33 because there are actually 42.
Oh geez. 5 bottle range 5 what? The hell.
OK. Cool, imagine keeping on top of
that. So they range from 39225 for the
Classic Mini up into the SEJCW Sport Countrymen at $77,990.00.
77 grand on a mini. Come on man.
Plus on roads. Plus on roads, yeah.
That's plus on road, plus a few option packs.
You're at 95 before you blink. That's ridiculous.
That is actually disgusting. I'll.
See your jazz for 15. Can I, can I just say I drove AI
drove a brand new three series, like just a 330I the other the other week and, and I was like, Oh yeah, you know, BMW didn't have heated seats, didn't have any any, you know, any had the impact. And I looked up how much that
car was without heated seats. That was $110,000.
Now. And I'm like, I've got heated
seats in a mid 30s Fiesta. Like what?
What the hell you know. You can actually subscribe to
get the heated seats, can't you? Isn't.
That one of the yeah, he's going to say you got to subscribe if you want those heated seats. I was like, it didn't have a
heated seats, heated stereo like that was in the, the, the the winter pack. I think it was called whatever
the hell they called it on their line.
I was doing a configure out because I was like, Oh no, how much this car was, you know, cost?
And I was like like as it was, it was like 106.
And then you put the few like it had the had the the vision pack or the blue, the blue lighting pack, whatever the hell it was.
And that was like 4 grand. And then I'm like, OK, so I
didn't have all these other packs and that would have taken it to like 130 grand. I was like, that's ridiculous.
Like and. They're not even a three.
I thought we'd assume they were a three litre 6 but they're not.
They're not. They're not a twin too, aren't
they? Correct.
Yeah. The three. 40 is a six, OK.
I think yes, 330's not 340 is yeah.
OK there. You go I.
Don't. I don't like how they do it in
packs with your add ONS, because there's things in those packs that you don't really want, correct.
Yeah, but you have to get it. It's like Foxtel subscription.
Yeah, you want this pack, but you get like 20 channels that you're not going to watch because they're shit like those five or six channels, Yeah. Correct those kind.
Of situations were like packs like what do you call it, conflict with each other. Like if you've got one pack, you
can't necessarily get the other pack.
That's true, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, what I was Caddy, I, I had
to go through the the, the ordering process because I, they had to build one for me. I'll put up with the spec I
wanted just with the doors and the manual gearbox.
And yeah. So it was pages and pages of
stuff. You could take it.
But then, yeah, you couldn't have that if you had that, because that didn't allow. For without that all you could
do what my dad did. I want the territory gears by by
by you know, by everything, everything, everything.
Or he's he's first. Optus, Optus net Optus, Sorry,
Optus, Optus TV. Yeah.
You take your you take your Optus box to A to a guy at selected trash and treasure markets, and he.
You upgrade it. He would upgrade it, yeah.
So you'd have all the channels and have all the pay per views for free. So so is this.
The same person that you could take the PlayStation to.
It was one of those people. He was They were cousins.
They were cousins the the Pipeworks fellows.
They fix it for you, in other words.
No, these people, that's the truth.
Yeah, the guy, the guy left the market, you know, is all.
When you're on the northern side, you're gonna do it properly. As as you know, if it's spins
forth, you bring it to the north.
That's what they say. So we've got, we've got, we've
gotta persevere everything here in the North, don't we, Allen?
Yeah, yeah, well, that's your quiz.
Okay, the quiz. Scores.
Who's the winner? All right, a score check.
Scotty one. Adrian and Allen on two apiece,
Edward on three. Tonight's winner.
Now I think the guy who won is also go scoring.
There's a conflict of interest. There may need to be an
independent audit. Well.
So I believe the. Results are inconclusive.
Listen. Back to the podcast, that's all
I'm going to say. I believe that Allen should lose
a point because Maddie did, and Maddie should lose 2 points just because he's Maddie, which means that Ed wins.
Yay. Thank you, Adrian.
I think we should make Car Talk great again.
Wait, are you missing your ear? Yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's
half it's gone. Half it's gone.
Oh, jeez. Anyway, I think that's a
podcast, gentlemen. Yes, it is.
Thank you, Matthew. Thank you all.
Thank you, David for that quiz. That was that was a really cool
way of doing the quiz. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I like the idea. We're.
Going to call it paspin. Paspin, Cousins or.
Paspin Cousins. Yeah, that we should.
Make cousins. That's good.
That's good. I.
Like this more? Where that where they came from?
Pad and pending and on that on that name and everything.
So so Paspin cousins, we'll make that happen.
Edward and David Prince, you guys do a podcast?
Yes, it's called Auto Retro. We talk to guests about the cars
of their lives. You can watch it on YouTube or
listen on Spotify. We might one day have some new
episodes, but until then just listen to what's out there on repeat. It's.
It's quality listening as as we always say, Adrian, you got anything to plug? What was the first few times?
No solid. It's Scotty though, yeah, golf
tip of the week. Golf tip of the week when you're
playing around close to the greens because look, let's be honest, it's not many times you're going to hit the green in regulation unless you're fantastic, which I'm not.
You're always going to land it. You're always going to land it
short and things like that. So look, don't go for your huge
lofted wedges to chip it onto the green.
If you're up close, go for like a 7 or 8 iron and just a little punch just to get over that deeper grass and get it close to the pin. Better than getting your lofted
wedge where you're either going to just top it and it's going to go a mile or you're kind of just, it's going to move about 5 centimetres in front of you. Because if it's a little bit too
thick on the fringe, you can't really put it, it'll get a bit stuck. So you might just a little nice
punch with seven or eight iron and just try and get as close as you can. And you're pretty much swinging
it like a putter too. So you're holding it down lower
with your 7 or 8 iron and just a little like you're putting a little punch and off it goes. So no Happy Gilmore style.
Not if you want to hit it to the next hole.
That's all I'll get. What's the other guy's name?
Shooter Mcgavin. Mcgavin.
That's it. Yeah, that's it.
Mcgavin. Great tip, really important for
our for our avid golf listeners. Hello if.
