Peter and Ross compare the Christmas road trip vs the Christmas cruise on a ship. We compare over the air updates between the Tesla and BMW - the Tesla gave presents while the BMW took them away. 159: LIVE Drive Maserati Levante GT Hybrid
Peter is joined by Ross and Jackson Galettis driving a Maserati Levante GT Hybrid. Ross gives a run down on all the interior buttons and settings, which includes the mysterious I.C.E. button which is not for driving on ice, but runs the hybrid part of the engine. Levante means raised in Spanish, the name is consistent with Maserati naming their cars what they are, like the Quattroporte, 4 door. The boys swap driving seats and Peter is not allowed to drive it like it is stolen but explores the softer side of the Levante. Peter and Halil are using the Tesla as a studio and go through the week in Vegas. Peter talks about the Chevrolet Suburban, his time at the Concours d'Elegance, and the stories behind the SEMA show. Halil is looking for a new car and is frustrated with the actions of some dealers marking up prices of popular cars and passing them off as immediate delivery second hand vehicles with 100km on the clock with $30,000 mark ups. 156: Interviews from SEMA Part 1
Peter is off to Las Vegas for SEMA 2022 and has a range of interviews. Firstly, Peter interviews Laura Nash from APP EV Systems, a company based in Washington that sell battery kits for a range of classic cars such as early Porsche 911's, 1964-70 Fords Mustangs and classic Mercedes coupes from the 1960's to the 1970's. Listener Paul reached out to Peter to drive the C8 Corvette, the first Australian delivered Corvette. You will listen to the most comprehensive description of the Australian delivered Corvette. The boys discuss the interior where the cockpit is divided between the passenger and the driver. We hear first hand how the ordering process went with Holden and HSV. The mid engine layout leads to sub 3 second 0-100km/h times and we experience the different drive modes. Paul also hydrauically liftrd the front end of the Corvette for a speed hump and set it in the GPS so the Corvette will remember to do that next time it travels along that road!!!! 150: LIVE Drive Test Drive Tesla Model 3 Performance
Peter and Halil are driving a Tesla Model 3 Performance not just for a LIVE Drive - but a TEST Drive. Peter is driving the actual Model 3 he will be purchasing. The AMG A35 is leaving the fleet to be replaced by the Tesla. Halil compares the drive to the Model Y and compares the two models for practicality and drivability. 146: LIVE Drive AMG E63s
Peter and Halil are driving an AMG E63s, a big family car according to Halil. With an engine that sounds like a hornet's nest, Halil is determined to wake up the neighbourhood and we test all the suspension settings. We attempt to guess how much fuel was used and we learn that Mercedes still allow you to option their vehicles with the original hood ornament. 145: LIVE Drive Porsche 968 Cabriolet
Halil drives Peter's 1993 Porsche 968 Cabriolet - the last of the 1980's era Porsche. The 968 was the last iteration of the 924/944 model line and sold in very limited numbers during a world recession. The Porsche 968 Cabriolet cost three times the price of a suburban apartment in Sydney which probably explains why only 13 of them were sold over the 1992-1995 period it was available new from Porsche. There was also some chat about the current state of play in the new car market after Halil went to price up a BMW 340i X Drive and suffered from "sticker shock." Peter Halil and Ross are joined by Captain Sideris in a LIVE Drive with Mercedes Benz all electric EQA 250. An impressive car from Mercedes Benz for the money being asked for one. Attempts were made to use a public charger which exposed a design issue when a left hand drive car is converted to right hand drive. We set off sentry mode at the nearby parked Tesla.
