Hooniverse
Dan Roth, Ross Ballot, (Jeff Glucker)
Last episode about 2 months agoCars. Trucks. Life. Things that run. Things that don't. And anything in between. The Hooniverse Podcast is about the intersection of all things automotive and everyday life. That means we'll also talk about anything that pops into our little brains. From beer and wine to dogs to travel, and anything else that strikes our fancy in a given moment. Our attention span is nill. Our episodes are rambling. Pull up a chair, pop on some headphones or turn up the volume in your car, hit play, and stay awhile.Cheers.

His car is fast, and it enjoys going fast in both straight lines and sideways as well.Oh, he also plays host on the Motor Trend channel when he's not churning out stories and reviews for the print side. Diesel Driving Death March
Jeff Glucker and Blake Z. Rong head into the Podcast Business Office to prattle on about cars. The main topic of the evening is Rong's recent participation in the Audi A3 TDI Mileage Challenge. He was tasked with driving from Albuquerque, New Mexico to San Diego... on one tank of diesel fuel. That's 824 miles of driving required. That's damn near impossible, but two teams managed to pull it off. From there the talk moves to the recent Motor Press Guild Track Day event, where Glucker got seat time in a variety of vehicles out at Willow Springs.
A Regular Podcast
Blake Z. Rong and Jeff Glucker are back together to chat about all things automotive. Rong has been off doing famous journalist things, while Jeff has been roughing it with super cars. Now though, Glucker is driving... a taxi. Also, the gang falls back into the old format with some new car chatter at the beginning before digressing into covering anything their tiny brains can think up.
Back Into The Podcast Palace
Jeff Glucker and Chris Hayes step back into the original podcast palace of love for Episode 78. Blake Z. Rong is off doing professional automotive writer things on the other side of the country.Topics range from a few favorites revealed at the Paris Motor Show, to Volvos new crazy concept turbo motor, and on to a few things we've driven recently. These include the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, and a few other machines. Also, Jeff digresses towards the end and talks about a time when he got really drunk...
Come join me on my couch...
Rather than take a week off, Hooniverse host Jeff Glucker decided to knock out a 30 minute episode from the cozy confines of his own house. It's just Jeff this week as he prattles on about all sorts of random car goodness. Glucker recently drove the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster as well as the Vanquish Volante, he then mixed it up and stepped up even further by spending a weekend with the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. The chatter ranges from the aforementioned cars to the results of the Lightning Lap, some talk of the new Viper, and even a bit about the Subaru Legacy 3.6R.

The boys are all back in town (minus one Zatch Crapman), and that means it's time to catch up on everything that they've all been up to. Blake got to check out the new ND Miata in Monterrey, and he also drove a Zero SR electric motorcycle to the podcast palace. Meanwhile, Jeff just spent a weekend with the 2014 Dodge Viper, and was also down in Baja to check out the new BFGoodrich KO2 tire. After that, the talk moves to ... well, the normal nonsense and digressions that you've come to expect.

Hooniverse Gold Subscription Plan
Jeff Glucker and Blake Z Rong are joined by Matt Farah. You know Farah from The Smoking Tire, /DRIVE, his handful of appearances on this very podcast, and now, /DRIVE+.The crew dive right into it to learn about the move to a subscription-based platform for the /DRIVE video series. It's a fascinating topic right up until we're interrupted by a rather fascinating person coming into The Smoking Tire offices. Bucky Lasek temporarily stops the proceedings as Blake and Jeff go mega-fanboy for a moment.Things get back on track and Farah tells us more about the /DRIVE+ move. He has to leave to attend to Mr. Lasek (who is appearing on TST later in the evening), so Blake, Jeff, and Producer Chris get into their own cars and what they're driving to finish off the show.

Bavsound Brings The Noise
We may occasionally rant against all-things BMW on this podcast, but deep in our dark hearts there lies a soft spot for the Bavarian beasts. This seems to be the case for Jeremy Whittle and Jason Seaver, because the pair are part of a company called Bavsound. Essentially, Bavsound is an audiophile haven aimed at making BMW vehicles a better place to listen to music.Hosts Jeff Glucker and Blake Z. Rong dive right into the chatter with the Bavsound crew to get the low down on all things automotive audio. We learn that Pink Floyd can make you cry under the right circumstances, paper speakers aren't terrible, and factory systems can always be improved upon.
Those Project Car Blues
Jeff Glucker and Blake Z. Rong are back together in the podcast palace of love. The main subject for episode 64? Banged up, clapped-out, project cars.Blake's Miata... is dead.Jeff's Civic... is dead.Listen in and found out what's going on with both cars, before the two hosts ultimately diverge into a series of weirder and weirder tangents.
Two Wheels, BAD!
Zack Klapman from /DRIVE and The Smoking Tire joins me for Episode 63 of the Hooniverse Podcast. We have no agenda this evening, but our conversations surround two main topics. Zach talks about his horrific motorcycle accident from back when he was in college. We discuss the application of the term "supercar" and if the term "hypercar" needs to exist. Oh, and I digress to talk about an awesome snowboarding documentary called The Crash Reel. It's seriously good... just like this episode of the podcast. Stop stalling and make the leap to listen to Episode 63.
'MURICA
Antti is still in California so we have him back on board for a second round of podcast pleasure. Jeff returns to host the party with guest Antti joined by producer Chris Hayes. The chatter pretty much just focuses on Antti's trip to the states. He's been roadtripping in a 2014 Dodge Challenger RT Blacktop, and then we had him switch into a Ram 3500 HD Dually (MWUAHAHAHAHA).What did he do with the truck? Apparently he went to Walmart and bought American flags... seriously.
Finn it to win it.
This week we welcome Hooniverse contributor and 1980s culture afficianado Antti Kautonen (@julkinen) to the podcast palace. Antti has traveled all the way from Suomi Finland for his very first visit to the states where he was welcomed by the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T. In this episode we spend an inordinate amount of time discussing french hot hatches, scandinavian hot rodding, semi obscure GM V6 engines, and why Finns love Camaros.
DRIVEing down the lane
This week Jeff Glucker is joined by podcast producers Chris Hayes and Zack Klapman.Zack just got back from Europe where he is now a field producer with the /DRIVE team. The big news, of course, being that /DRIVE will be appearing on NBC Sports. Klapman talks a bit about his journey across the pond.Chris recently bought a scooter, and we dive into that a bit as well.New car chatter involves the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, GM woes, and ... something that isn't a car at all, but a plane. There's a bit of info on the Civic and also the Wombat as well. Listen in and enjoy!
