Ok, we will admit it - we really like going to Tailpipes & Tacos, the Saturday morning cruise at the Lupe Tortilla location on the Grand Parkway in Katy, Texas. We do our show live there from 8a-11a and vehicles start showing up while we are setting up to get some of the prime parking places. This is a free cruise location, very family friendly and we get to watch it all develop every 3rd Saturday.We like all the rods, trucks, customs and sports cars of course, but we also like to meet new people. We have met some great automotive enthusiasts at this event. Making a rare appearance over from Orange, Texas, it is Chase Murray, part of the family that believes drag racing is really a family event. Route 66 is the fabled Mother Road that really set the country in motion as the 'first' national highway that ran 2,400 miles from Chicago to the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, the road went through 8-states and crossed three time zones. It has inspired travelers since it officially opened in 1926. Setting up a large scale car show, and we are talking large scale as in over 700,000 square feet of the NRG Center in Houston, can be a big undertaking. We opened our special Friday afternoon show from the 2021 Summer Houston Auto Show with our friend, RoShelle Salinas, V.P., Houston Auto Dealers Association. It has been a crazy year, and with the normal schedule, the HAS would be in the latter part of January, kicking off the larger car show year. Of course with COVID, that was not possible, but sometimes, making the impossible possible works out great. In this segment, RoShelle shares some of the things that can be found at this year's show.
