LAB-434-Behind the Badge: Ryan's Reflections on a 30-Year Law Enforcement Career | Episode 1 of 2

This is episode 1 of 2.  We take a look back at Ryan's 30 year law enforcement career.  Ryan retired from the Yakima Police Department last July and is now working full time at Law Abiding Biker.  Ryan's path into law enforcement didn't start with a trooper's badge. He began in 1994 as a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy for Yakima County. In 1995 he moved to the Yakima County Department of Security, working courthouse law enforcement duties. On December 11, 1995, he was hired by the Washington State Patrol, graduated the WSP Academy, and was commissioned as a Trooper in July 1996. Across his career, Ryan was voted Officer of the Year by his own squad three times in 2008, 2014, and 2016. He received a Yakima PD commendation in 2008 for going above and beyond for a house fire victim, and recognition the same year for the apprehension of two assault suspects from a 2004 shooting. He was recognized by the DEA (2004) for contributions to drug law enforcement, by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington (2005) for the large-scale "Operation No Mas" investigation, and by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (2007) for "Operation Intolerance." Over the course of his career, he also authored and executed numerous search warrants. Ryan retired from law enforcement on July 31, 2025, after thirty years of service across multipleWashington agencies. He's now focused full-time on Law Abiding Biker, the motorcycle media branded store he built alongside his law enforcement career. In this episode we explain what is needed and what your options are for adding Ciro lighting to your 2024 and newer Harley-Davidson touring model with the new IFCU infotainment system.  If you own a 2024 or newer Harley-Davidson touring motorcycle and you're looking to upgrade your rear lighting, it's important to understand how the Ciro lighting system works before you start buying parts. Harley's newer electrical architecture changed the game, and that means riders need to know which components are required, how the different products connect, and what options are available for basic or advanced functionality. We break down exactly how Ciro lighting for Harley-Davidson motorcycles works, what products are needed, and how to choose the right setup for your bike. When adding Ciro lights to a 2024+ Harley-Davidson touring bike, you generally need to choose between: Ciro Lightstrike Commander Ciro Standard Adapter That first decision matters because it determines whether you'll have only basic lighting functionality or full app-based customization and expandability. If you are building out a lighting package for your Harley, this is the foundation of the entire system. The Ciro Lightstrike Commander is the advanced option and is often the best choice for riders who want a more customizable setup. This component acts like the brain of the lighting system. It allows your Ciro lights to integrate with the bike while also unlocking the Ciro Lightstrike app. With the app, you can access more advanced functionality and customize supported lighting products individually. That means the Ciro Lightstrike Commander for Harley-Davidson gives you more than simple run, turn, and brake lighting. It opens up added control over supported lighting features, light behavior, and customization options depending on the products installed on your motorcycle. If you think you may add more Ciro products in the future, the Lightstrike Commander is a smart long-term investment because you only need to buy it once. The Ciro Standard Adapter is the simpler route for riders who want straightforward lighting without app control or advanced programming and it comes standard within the lighting kits.  If you choose the standard adapter, your supported Ciro lights will provide basic run, turn, and brake functionality. For many riders, that may be enough. If your goal is simply to add visibility and a cleaner rear lighting appearance on your Harley-Davidson, this option can work very well. However, it is important to understand what you are not getting. The standard adapter does not provide access to the app-based Lightstrike features. LAB-426-2026 Harley Limited Review: Riding Into Daytona Bike Week

In this episode, we talk about the 2026 Harley-Davidson Limiteds. Harley clearly put a lot of thought into rider and passenger comfort on the 2026 Limited. The redesigned heated seat is one of the first things you notice. It now comes standard with heating for both rider and passenger, and Harley wisely kept physical buttons on the bike for adjusting heat levels instead of burying those controls in menus. That matters in the real world. When it's cold outside, nobody wants to scroll through screens just to warm up. The heated grips are also standard and work very well. Like the seat, they heat up quickly and get legitimately warm on higher settings. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The taller windshield worked great for me at 5'8″, allowing me to look right over the top while still getting solid wind protection. Combined with the fairing vent, it did a good job reducing head buffeting. You also get lower fairings with storage and vents, plus fork-mounted air vents that can be adjusted while riding. I really appreciated that Harley made all of these easy to operate by feel without taking your eyes off the road. And yes—having highway pegs standard on a serious touring motorcycle is exactly the kind of thing riders want to see. It looks better, flows better with the bike, and has a slightly taller design without looking boxy or awkward. Most importantly, it can now fit two helmets inside, which is a huge win for real-world touring and passenger use. Harley didn't just make the trunk bigger for the sake of it. They clearly spent time reshaping it so it would remain sleek while becoming more functional. That said, the integrated brake and turn signal lighting inside the trunk does take up a bit of space, so compared to my detachable trunk setup there is slightly less usable room in certain areas.
