Supreme Court Strikes Down Trump Tariffs, Auto Industry Receives Relief

The US Supreme Court struck down a key piece of President Trump's tariff policy, ruling that the President overstepped his constitutional authority when using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to justify tariffs on multiple countries.

Following this ruling, President Trump issued a new 15% global tariff, but vehicles, parts, steel, aluminum, and copper are exempt from these new tariffs, providing relief to the auto industry.

"The court said the President overstepped his constitutional authority when he used the IEEPA, or International Emergency Economic Powers Act, to justify tariffs on a number of countries."
