The Ford Bronco is an SUV designed for off-road driving. It’s made to handle rough roads and trails better than a typical everyday car. People bring it up because it’s known for being capable and fun to drive off the pavement.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a popular SUV that can be a comfortable family car but also has off-road capability. The episode uses it as another example of how price affects people’s opinions.
The Jeep Wrangler is an SUV made for off-road driving. It’s famous for features like removable doors and a removable roof. People talk about it a lot because it’s built to go on trails and still feel like a “real” off-road vehicle.
The Jeep Wagoneer is a bigger SUV that’s aimed at comfort, not just off-road use. It’s part of the Jeep lineup, but it’s generally more focused on a nicer ride for everyday driving. The podcast brings it up when comparing it to other Jeep models.
A pre-purchase simulator is a budgeting tool. It helps you estimate the real cost of owning and using a car, instead of just looking at the purchase price.
An E90 M3 is a BMW M3 model from the E90 generation. It’s a performance version of the 3 Series, and this one is specifically a manual-transmission car. The host is saying they’re not rushing to sell it.
A manual transmission is a car where you shift gears yourself using a clutch pedal and a gear stick. It usually feels more connected to the driving because you choose the gear.
A battery tender is a smart battery charger/maintainer used to keep a car’s battery healthy while the car sits. It prevents over-discharge and helps avoid battery failure when you’re not driving the car regularly.
PPI means a pre-purchase inspection. It’s when a mechanic looks the car over before you commit, to help you avoid buying something with expensive problems.
The BMW 6 Series is a luxury car designed for comfortable, long-distance driving. In the podcast, it’s mentioned because someone did a manual transmission swap on a specific E63 wagon. That’s relevant because it changes how the car is driven.
Auction financing is just how someone plans to pay after they win. The host is saying sometimes the winner can’t get the money together, so the car doesn’t actually get sold to them.
“E92” is a BMW 3 Series coupe generation. The host is talking about what an E92 sold for at auction and how the final total can be much higher once you include fees.
The Toyota Tacoma is Toyota’s popular midsize pickup truck. The host is saying Toyota plans to build trucks like the Tacoma at its expanded San Antonio factory.
A naturally aspirated engine pulls air in without a turbo or supercharger. That usually means a different feel and sound than turbo cars, and some people prefer it.
Maintenance records are the paperwork showing the car was serviced on time. The host is saying buyers care a lot more about that when the market gets tighter.
An oil change is when the old engine oil is replaced with fresh oil. The host is saying you should keep up with it on schedule and be able to show it was done.
Manufacturer recommendations are the service schedule and fluid requirements the carmaker says to follow. The host is telling people to stick to those guidelines.
A third party is an independent organization not directly involved in the original sale. In this story, Manheim uses a partner to perform an inspection so the dispute can be evaluated more objectively.
“Lemon squad” is the name used for Manheim’s partnered inspection group that investigates whether a vehicle is being misrepresented as defective. The segment uses it to contrast a claimed “new motor” need versus what the inspection concludes.
The “engine” is the main mechanical part that makes the car move. They’re saying the engine is likely to fail, so replacing it is the safer fix.
Term
naturally aspirated manual stuff
“Naturally aspirated” means the engine doesn’t use a turbo or supercharger to force air in. “Manual stuff” means it has a stick shift, and the host is saying maintenance matters a lot for these cars.
Car
Lexus RCF
The Lexus RCF is a Lexus performance model with a strong, V8-powered character. The host is saying someone bought one that had been totaled and then fixed it by replacing parts in the suspension area.
A strut mount is the part that connects the suspension strut to the car’s body. If it’s broken, the car can ride badly or make noises, so replacing it can restore proper suspension behavior.
“Throw a rod” is when something inside the engine breaks badly—usually a connecting rod. When it happens, the engine often needs major repairs or replacement.
A “transmission bill” is the money you’d spend if the car’s gearbox needs repair or replacement. It’s one of the big expensive problems people worry about when buying a used car.
A “sensor issue” is when a sensor in the car is faulty or not connected properly. The car may act like something is seriously wrong, but sometimes it’s just a sensor and the fix is much cheaper.
A “fuse went bad” means a small electrical safety device inside the car blew. If it blows, parts of the car may stop working, and the problem can look confusing until you check the fuses.
The Ford F-150 is a large pickup truck used for work and hauling. In the podcast, it’s mentioned in connection with an engine being replaced, which points to real ownership and maintenance topics. It’s a common truck, so it often shows up in discussions about how vehicles hold up over time.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a tough, long-lasting SUV. “100 Series” is the specific older generation (roughly late 1990s to mid-2000s) that many people like for its durability.
A lease payment is what you pay each month to drive a car you don’t own. The real cost can change depending on fees and whether you decide to buy it later.
Hyundai Santa Fe is a midsize family SUV from Hyundai, typically bought for practicality and comfort rather than hardcore performance. Here it’s mentioned in the context of a lease payment and buyout decision, which matters because leasing can change the total cost versus buying outright.
Negative equity means your current car is worth less than what you still owe on it. When you trade it in, that “extra amount” can get added to the next car’s deal.
Term
buy my lease out
Buying your lease out means paying the set price at the end of the lease so you can own the car. It’s only worth it if that price is close to what the car is actually worth.
Disclosures are the official paperwork in a car deal that lists the important numbers and fees. The host’s point is that the extra money was shown in those documents, even if the buyer didn’t notice it.
A dealer is the car dealership that sells you the car and sets up the deal. The host is basically saying you can’t ignore what’s in the paperwork, even if you think the dealer handled things poorly.
The out-the-door price is the final total you pay for the car. It includes the car price plus things like taxes and fees, so it’s the real comparison number.
It’s when an automatic car is made to act like a manual. You can usually “shift” with paddles or a shifter, but the car is still doing the work for you.
A gated shifter is a gear shifter that has a shaped path for selecting gears. It helps you grab the right gear more confidently, like the classic feel in many manuals.
LST transmission is a named transmission/drivetrain setup that’s being marketed as very fast and responsive. The speaker is saying it can shift quickly without the usual clutch/flywheel setup.
A flywheel is a heavy spinning part that helps keep the engine’s power delivery smooth. Saying “no flywheel” means this design is trying to avoid that smoothing effect to get a different kind of response.
A clutch is what lets you change gears by briefly disconnecting the engine from the gearbox. The speaker is saying this system doesn’t use a traditional clutch.
A paddle shift is the set of buttons or levers behind the steering wheel that let you change gears. You don’t move the gear lever—you just pull the paddle.
A tailor-made program refers to a manufacturer’s bespoke customization service where customers can specify unique options beyond standard trims. In Ferrari’s case, it’s often associated with highly individualized build choices.
A gated manual is a stick shift where the shifter has a shaped path (a “gate”) for each gear. It helps you feel and find the right gear more precisely.
The Ferrari F8 is a mid-engine Ferrari supercar. The host is saying it’s especially fun to drive, and they connect that fun to the kind of traditional stick-shift feel people like.
The Ferrari 488 is a mid-engine Ferrari sports car. The host is saying it can work as a daily driver—comfortable to sit in and fun to drive—and that it’s relatively reliable for a Ferrari.
The Ferrari Luce is a Ferrari model name being discussed as something people are hoping for. The podcast is talking about expectations and what could be the best outcome. It’s mentioned because Ferrari cars are usually a big deal to enthusiasts.
“Growing pains” means the awkward problems that happen when a company grows or changes quickly. The host is implying Ferrari’s big changes are causing confusion and missteps right now.
Mass production means making lots of cars using repeatable, standardized methods. The host is saying Ferrari is trying to scale up more than it historically has, which can bring new pressures and changes to how the company runs.
Person
the iphone designer
The host is referring to a designer known for Apple’s iPhone. The point is that Ferrari is bringing in people from outside its usual culture, which the host thinks can change how the brand operates.
The Tesla Model Y is an electric SUV, meaning it runs on electricity instead of gasoline. It’s built for normal daily driving and uses a lot of technology to make it easy to use. It comes up in conversations about how electric cars handle everyday concerns.
They mention the Ford Ranger as an existing Ford truck name. The point is that it’s not really the kind of “old name coming back” that would be a true revival.
They’re talking about a rumored electric version of the Ford Ranchero. The idea is to bring back a classic Ford name, but make it an EV and keep the price around thirty thousand dollars.
They throw out the Ford Taurus as another older Ford model name. It’s just part of the discussion about what classic name could return for a new vehicle.
An electric truck is a pickup that runs on electricity from a battery, not gasoline. Here, they’re using the term to describe the rumored Ranchero as an EV pickup.
The Chevy SSR was a quirky, retro-styled two-door truck/roadster. They’re saying the new electric Ranchero could feel similar—more about the cool, unusual package than a traditional pickup.
An electrical platform is the main EV “electrical setup” a company reuses across different cars. It helps them build cheaper cars faster because the core wiring, electronics, and battery layout are similar.
The Ford Mustang is a sports car made for performance. People often talk about how fast it can accelerate, like how quickly it reaches 60 mph. Some Mustangs can be driven with a manual transmission, which is why it shows up in discussions about driving and shifting.
“Zero to 60” measures how fast a car can go from standing still to 60 mph. It’s a simple way to compare how quickly different cars feel like they accelerate.
They’re talking about the idea that some people see EVs as “appliances,” like a household utility. In that view, it’s mainly about getting you from A to B cheaply and reliably, not about being exciting to drive.
State sales tax is an extra tax added when you buy something, and the rate depends on where you live. For cars, it can make the final price higher than the sticker or advertised number.
Here, disposable means people expect to replace it instead of keeping it for years. The hosts are saying that if an EV is treated like an appliance, buyers may expect it won’t last long.
EV means electric vehicle. It’s a car that runs on electricity stored in a battery instead of using gasoline. They’re discussing how pricing could influence whether people buy EVs.
A lease deal is when you pay to drive a car for a fixed time instead of buying it outright. The payment is usually lower than a loan, and you return the car at the end unless you choose to buy it.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is a small luxury SUV. It’s meant for everyday driving, with comfort and convenience features. In the podcast, it comes up because someone discussed buying one with a specific deal.
An EV platform is the “base design” a car company builds for electric cars. It affects how the battery and drivetrain fit, and it can influence how expensive the car ends up.
Jim Farley is a senior leader at Ford. In this segment, the hosts mention him while talking about Ford’s electric-car plans and how the company is trying to avoid earlier EV problems.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric pickup truck. It’s based on the F-150 but uses electricity instead of gasoline. The podcast mentions it in the context of problems people had and what could be learned from that experience.
The Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car built for high performance. The C8 generation is especially talked about because it changed the car’s design in a big way. People also discuss it because production and allocations can influence availability.
The Defender is a tough, off-road SUV from Land Rover. Here they’re talking about the 2027 model changing engines: it’s losing some options and using a straight-six instead, with the V8 only available on higher trims.
A straight-six is an engine with six cylinders lined up in a row. It’s known for running smoothly, and some cars use it because it fits well in their engine bay.
Term
octa
“Octa” here sounds like a trim level or package name—basically the higher version you’d pick if you want the V8. The transcript isn’t clear enough to confirm the exact official trim name.
A driver monitor camera is a camera inside the car that watches where you’re looking. It helps the car tell if you’re paying attention, especially when using driver-assist features.
“Full self-driving” is a name companies use for software that tries to drive the car for you. Even when it’s working well, the driver usually still has to watch and be ready to take over.
Eye tracking is a feature that watches where your eyes are looking. It’s used to make sure you’re paying attention while the car is doing some driving.
“Liabilities” here means who is legally responsible if something goes wrong. The point is that the software should have been tested and responsibility clarified before it was widely used.
Airstream is a well-known brand of travel trailers. People buy them for the classic silver look, and the host is talking about how much the newer ones cost.
The Ford Maverick is a small pickup truck. It’s meant to be easier to live with than bigger trucks, but still useful for tasks like hauling. In the podcast, it’s brought up because it can tow within its limits.
LIVE
All right, I got to start off by saying this is for all the new listeners the thousands and thousands of new audio listeners
That found the show in the last week week and a half
Welcome to the number one automotive related podcast on planet Earth
We talk about news market predictions, but more importantly we offer you a good hang each and every Monday
And actually before I hand it over to Nick. I got to just say I got to start also the week by saying Nick
And I like Toyota guys. We like
I own a shit ton of Toyotas. So I'll put it to you this way. I'm gonna be you know
Taking some time with the family the place. I'll be going
There's two Toyota products in that garage. I have
infinite number of Toyotas in my garage
If you look across my family and friends lots of Toyotas have been purchased or are currently owned and what we find is
It's hard to get nuance in a one-minute clip. Sure. I understand that which is why Rob always
edits them a certain way, but here's here's where we're at like
people need to wake up a little bit and understand that you know
companies go through changes and
Those changes are always gonna come not even with criticism, but realities
You know that you have to say like I'm very interested in this GR GT
That seems to be making the rounds that looks like
By all accounts is gonna be an awesome sports car from Toyota now again. I haven't seen it. I haven't been around it
I'm going off of the internet
But for anybody that says that a company that's made 26000000000 dollars in 2025 is not a good company
That's never been said on this podcast. No, we actually probably hold them to the highest standard because of that
Yeah, and I will say
The internet does need to settle down on what they pay and praise for the products in the modern world
So I will say this is so this is this is the good conversation the conversation
That that we probably don't make clear enough. I don't
Everything all of my opinions come from the standpoint just automatically because it's how
That's what happens when you've bought and sold so many cars
Always comes from what's the value of driving that car around not what somebody's charging for it. Absolutely, right?
So when I look at a lot of products from a lot of different manufacturers, I've said this about Bronco
But Toyota guy, you know, you could say this about the Jeep Grand Cherokee
You can say this about the Wagoneer. You can say this about the Wrangler. You can say this about
Several products in the Toyota brand and the Honda brand and you know the VW brand
The price
Sets whether or not there's a positive or negative reaction to that car, right? So I told everybody
You start telling me Broncos are 60 70 thousand dollars for the ones, you know for a package you would want I'd go, huh?
I don't know that that's a 65 thousand dollar
Experience it's your money. You're gonna spend it how you want
But we probably don't do a very good job of I just automatically see through that lens a hundred percent of the time
And I'm creating a what I use is so, you know, we talk about PPI being the first thing you do when you buy a car
I'm calling it a pre-purchase simulator
Which is basically gonna be a calculator that allows you to simulate the price of what that won your experience because Nick said this a
Long time ago and it really wrong with me and you said it kind of like like something you just think and have said and it's like a
Common knowledge to you, but it was a really negative knowledge because when I heard it and I repeated it to other people
They're like, you know, I never really look at what that first year would would cost me because I'm gonna be the most excited in that first year
I'm gonna want to have it the most that first year and then year two and three
I might get bored and want to get rid of it
So what's it really cost me to get it in and out of it to use Nick's quote without losing my shirt?
And I think that's really important for a lot of people because most people delay that that purchase or that that
Satisfaction they want to give themselves because of the initial price the big chunk, right?
But the big chunk is even actually bigger so that shouldn't scare you
But if you know how to kind of break that down and see if it fits your budget in your lifestyle, then I would say do it
I mean and by the way, this is we're seeing this right now
So I said on this podcast my manual transmission E90 M3
It's time for it to go not in a hurry to sell it not in a rush to sell it
Don't even really need to sell it, you know, I could just get my next car and keep that one and you know, but space and
Ownership and all that kind of stuff
It just you know for those that haven't owned
You know 356 cars
It becomes a burden as much as anything is like you can't really drive anything. You're you know, you got to move cars around
I mean you got it
I mean this even happens at the highest collections that seemingly have the space
But it's still you know, I gotta you know take the battery tender off and I gotta do it sounds stupid
But it's just how it plays out. Yeah, you've watched it. It's just how it plays out
But you look at all of this and and I can tell you for the for the wonderful people that have contacted me
There's so many people that are not ready to buy. Yes, and that is the worst time to contact somebody
Because you're going to miss out
Right, you don't have your shit together. You don't understand the money. You don't understand what it needs to be
So part of the weight of getting what you want
This sounds really simplistic, but probably needs to be said out loud is being ready at all times to pull the trigger
Because what we see and for those of you that list cars on Facebook marketplace, you know, and I mean is this still available
It's like
that response
Could cost you the car because what if somebody else and let's just say it's a car
You've always wanted to own instead of writing that first silly, you know message writes. I got 38k
I got 43k in hand. I'm ready to come pick the car up
You're seemingly in the same boat, but you do two or three not having your stuff together messages
Guy comes and goes
Going to have a ppi done going to do this. How do I schedule it right off the jump? His first messages
Are getting to the point. I don't think people realize how many deals they lose because of that
As a matter of fact, uh, did you see what the most recent
E92 sold for on cars and bids and and I don't know if it was a new sale
But I know the clip that I saw was a new clip. So I imagine it was a new sale
Yeah, so it was
Somebody sent it to me. So I don't know the particulars, but it was a one owner competition series. I believe silver, right?
Yeah, that the guy just like wasn't following the market really didn't even know what he had
He's like, I just had it since I was new and this is how a lot of this goes
Yeah, right
I don't want to interrupt you but most people do not nerd out about the market of the car that they have
Or even want to get into the way that we do
No, no, they don't and and for most private sales on there. There's an unbelievable
I came across a clip of an e 63 wagon that the guy did a manual transmission swap and did all
Did you see that?
And the guy goes I have this wagon and now this makes me feel inadequate. Did you see that clip?
That shit is hilarious. So the one thing I want to say is that
You know, a lot of you contact us about buying vehicles
Probably something I haven't said enough
When you are the the the person ready to go
You'd be surprised how many deals you're going to jump the line on because sellers are just ultimately looking for somebody that has their stuff together
Like the most important thing to me selling the car is
I don't want a guy that that number one, you know
Is so worried about putting it on a truck. It's like bud. There's reliable carriers. There's these big corporations
Like they have insurance like put it on a truck
If you're worried about that and you make it like three or four messages emails of working through that
What happens when a guy goes?
Hey, I'll have my carrier pick it up. Here's the money. Give me your wiring instructions. Like we don't
The general public
Who doesn't who hasn't bought a lot of vehicles?
Oftentimes doesn't realize that a lot of people dealers individual buyers the ones that know how the game works and know
Like let me give you an example. If somebody told me right now
I want 43 for my e90 m3. He tells me he'll give me 40
And and give me the wiring instructions and he'll handle everything else and tell me when to put it on a truck
It that's more valuable than the guy that says 43 and I got to go through 10 more messages
So one of the ways to get a deal on a car
Is to have your shit together and go hey bud. I already got a carrier lined up. I already got this give me your wire instructions
It'll be wired today. It's like
For a lot of people that could be 10 grand off a car
Yeah, yeah, and in this case like you know, Nick's talking a lot about cash deals too
But if you know that you're not going to be paying cash because let me tell you most people don't
They just make you believe sometimes that they do have everything else lined up
Go to your credit union finance whatever whatever your approach is going to be have that
Lined up because you'll just as easily jump some steps if you have that set up as well
And you'll jump
99 of people. Yeah, so I mean part of
people complaining about missing out on
The cars that they want of course some of these have gotten unattainable financially
But there's also a whole host of other cars
That you're you're not completing the purchase on
This happens by the way on cars and bids and bring a trailer where somebody wins an auction
They they seemingly knew they were in the auction right they were they were the ones bidding
And they have no way to finance the car. They have no way to pay cash for the car
They're fumbling around bring a trailer calls a guy like me and says hey you were bidding on this
Do you want to talk to to this guy directly?
You know it consider it a no sale. We won't be involved. That's exactly how my e 90 happened
It's like a guy fooled around for a week or two
Guy the seller calls me goes. Hey, man. We'll sell it to you. I said, I'm not paying that top bid
I said I'm not doing that. I'll pay you what
You'll have the wire today. He's like, let's do it. So
There's a lot of things where people
Maybe haven't been told enough the having your shit together part of this gets you better deals
Absolutely. And by the way, that silver
E 92 went for 97 five before fees. So that's well over 100,000 after all said and done, right?
I think it's what they do like a flat five grand a matter of the price or 2,500 bucks or something like that
So right right around it's up top of my head
Yeah, that's that's a big time result and
It's a car people want it seems like the guy didn't really drive it much obviously, you know had what under 20,000 17
Yeah, 17,000 miles. I mean good for him
Back to Toyota real quick by the way
The San Antonio plant so they're the headquarters out here. They're expanding a 3.6 billion dollar expansion project bringing it out of Mexico, huh?
Yeah, they're going to be I think it's Tacoma and something else are going to be building like exclusively there
So 2,000 new jobs at the San Antonio plants if you guys want to move to texas be closer to a clutch culture central texas
Reach out and maybe put you in touch with somebody that we know what I mean the problem with you guys at texas
Are you guys still shocked that's hot because I hear a lot of texas telling me how hot it is down there
Well, those aren't really texas. Those are it's summertime. Those are snow birds that you're seeing
Here like I don't know. I heard some accents rob really caliente down here
I don't think it's all
I don't think it's all that really clean. You know what real quick also on the manual that you're just talking about for the bmw
When you look at manuals in general and then we start looking at things like na cars
Do you think that just as long as you have a naturally aspirated car?
It's going to start to just really increase in value no matter what it is. Yeah, I think you need to be very
Cognizant for for those of you that that maybe have something like you said is we're 30 grand today
I think the thing you got to get really serious about if you're going to keep driving it
Is you better make sure your maintenance records are on? Yeah, because we're seeing a very big
Disparity now and this happens when the market I don't want to say slows down but gets a little tighter
You know finances get just a touch tighter those types of things
Get your maintenance in order
Like, you know, make sure at the very least make sure all your oil changes have been done on time
Make sure you are your fluids have been done on time, you know per
Manufacturer recommendations at the very least
I think that's going to become more important because there's a lot of people getting burned
I mean you got to also remember with more people flocking into these markets for the very first time
You got a lot of horror stories, too. You know a lot of them. There's a guy
It's pretty hard to believe. There's a guy on the east coast. I'm sure you've seen him. I think he's probably a jersey guy
He's a mechanic. He owns a shop. He's really like he's like a bulldog direct to the the point kind of guy
And somebody sent me one of his videos. I hadn't seen him in a while and I wouldn't follow him
But I am now and somebody brought in a car. It's like an s4 like a like some sort of outie
And he just bought in it and the guy
That he bought it from essentially sold him like a lemon. It was a bad car
And he's telling the guy that hey, he's showing him a video of the guy saying
You say your mechanic found a bunch of air his engine is that I don't think it's true
He has a big instagram channel whatever and then he like really good editing
He flips back to hit the photo on the table when he's talking to him
And he's going through the diagnostics and all the things that's wrong with it
He's like you sold this guy a fucking bad car and he's like going off on him like just total jersey style
And uh, the guy just goes off and he's like look, you know, uh, you bring it you you break it
I fix it. I don't give a fuck who you sold it to what it is, but I'm telling you sold him a bad car
So if you're selling bad cars to him you're selling bad cars to everybody kind of thing
You just put him on blast and that's true like if you don't know how to accurately see if something was done
You're going to get screwed. Yeah, I I saw another uh incident
It either happened in the last week or two where a dealer
bought a Subaru of some kind from manheim, uh, the big auto auction
And he paid the fee to have the two week return
So for people that don't know you can basically pay I think it's 189 bucks or whatever
That you can have two weeks to return a vehicle if your mechanic finds something
It's supposed to be this insurance. So he takes it to his mechanic and he goes it needs a new motor
So
And this is you know kind of the world that people don't get to see
Manheim says we don't believe you so we're going to send our own third party
Lemon squad who they're partnered with to do a ppi. Yeah, and guess what the guy says doesn't need a new motor
So then the dealer who still is in this two weeks goes well, I'm going to take it directly to Subaru
Subaru goes. Yeah, you'd be better off replacing this engine. It's going to blow
Manheim still didn't take the car back
So the guy looks at he goes i'm stuck with the car
And he goes I can't sell it. So I got to put a new motor in it. I can't sell it like this
These are all these little things that go around now imagine if this dealer
Just said screw it the engine's not blown
I can pawn this off on a customer happens every day
Yeah, you know happens there, but it started with manheim the auction not doing the right thing
It didn't really start at the dealer level the dealer bought a car
They did all the things they were supposed to to go make sure the car was healthy
They find out it's not healthy this third party lemon squad who's employed by manheim through a contractor agreement
Comes out there and goes no, it's not blowing up and the guy's like all he did was lift the hood
He's like didn't run any tests put a telescope on it
You know what I mean? So it's it's just like a weird thing man. Like we're we're in a world where you know
So if you're a guy out a guy or gal out there that's trying to
See the future with your naturally aspirated manual stuff like just make sure the maintenance is done
You'll get you'll get your money back on that stuff. I guess it's not going so well for g squad, huh?
Best buy just kind of kicked him over to manheim be like, hey, you're gonna be lemon
You're gonna be lemon long you're gonna be lemon squad from gun from now at this point forward
That's crazy, man. Um, actually one more story that I did see someone sent me a video
I don't know if it was co-part or where they found it, but it was a I think it was an rcf
It was one of the lexuses. I don't know what video that was his plan
And he bought it like 20 grand and it had been totaled
But all he did was replace like like a strut and a strut mount and it was good to go
Yeah, no, those are the coolest stories like uh, somebody bought
Some amg that the guy think the the the guy selling it to him thought he threw a rod and he just replaced the sensor
And then he got it for like three grand and it was worth like 23 grand or whatever
They thought he blew the car up and he's like no man
He said so i'm driving it home
And he goes
I'm just hoping it's this sensor because I know that that sensor sometimes plugs the sensor in and he's just got
Like a free car. That's awesome. I love that. That shit that shit happens, too
Dude all the time you have a you have your own stories like that that are like dude
Those are out of a book like somebody write that I can't be that happy and some of it's
Let's be fair some of it's pure luck, but you're taking a calculator risk. You're saying okay
I bought this vehicle worst case scenario. Obviously i'm in for a big transmission bill or an engine bill or whatever
There's also a high likelihood
There's just a sensor issue. There's just a this issue
Maybe this was unplugged or a fuse went bad or what you know, whatever the case and so there's a lot of vehicles
That that there's a lot of mechanics and a lot of dealer guys that know those vehicles very specifically and they're like
I'm gonna take the risk now
50 50
Totally right. You also got to be ready to put the engine in
You gotta have that accounted for it. Yeah, you gotta go. Hey man, you know if this if this goes if this isn't the sensor
I'm putting a new engine in
I have a comp now that raptor that I mentioned that other ruby red that was in like south carolina or wherever it was
Just sold for 51
Get you same ruby red same mileage same same super cab configuration. I'm like that's nuts, dude
That and and I would say this is where you get into the
Probably not a 51 experience at this time
And I think your number sub 40 is the experience that that is yeah 30 to 35
Solved yeah 50 beyond
Yeah, but
If somebody really wants it and money's no object then
You know, that's the other thing that people don't understand and and get really offended by it's like I can live in both worlds mentally
I can say yes, here's the situation. I wouldn't want that as a 51 thousand dollar experience
And I also can understand having clients for the last 16 years of my business that
There's also people that just don't give a shit about 51 thousand dollars
Yeah, you know, you think you'd say it a lot
But I think you need to say it like every other word or tenth sentence needs to be it's your money
Do whatever the fuck you want with it, right? Like no matter what clip goes viral or what?
Manufacture we're talking about the first thing in the comments is like well
That's what you wanted to buy like I got and I got to say this
There was so many by the way on all the platforms hundreds of comments hundreds and hundreds of engagements
But there were some things that were so outrageous on the Landcruiser video where somebody was upwards of like 85 thousand dollars into that platform
Are you out of your mind, sir?
You know, that's a lot of plastic for 85k, bud. Yeah, that's and
To each their own of course we applauded we applauded it
It's your 85 thousand dollars
But if you don't realize that that makes for a great topic of a conversation to car enthusiasts, then I also don't know what to tell you
Yeah, and
you could get
Essentially what four sub 150,000 mile 100 series Landcruiser
You imagine you got the garage queen
You got the actual one that goes that does you know the dirty work and then two other
I mean look you could get 100 series
You could get like one of the best 73 excursions. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean for 85
We're talking about 85 thousand dollars that that is
25 thousand dollars
above my two car solution of a manual transmission m3 and
100 series Landcruiser I that's 25k more
Then two then two cars that you'd want to own
I got sent one of the if not the wildest
Video on somebody's lease. Are you prepared for this? Can I can I show this to you?
Absolutely. Okay, please everybody buckle up. I should say I'm gonna try to not blow Nick's eardrums
But this is by far when you talk about money for dollar for fun for whatever
Let me just share this over to you right quick
I
Dealerships just being shitty
I went online because everyone said that my lease payment is so expensive a month. I pay like
589 by weekly for a new Santa Fe
car's worth like 61,000 new
And on their website it says like 387 by weekly. I called the dealership and
They said oh well when you traded your other lease in you took on 10,000 dollars worth of
Like negative equity and I was like, oh cool. Well, um, you didn't mention that when I traded the other one in
thinking that because they called me to buy my lease out that
It would be a wash or I wouldn't have to pay anything. So
now I'm debating on
Buying the car out
But lo and behold it's gonna cost me like 85 grand to buy the car out because I'm trying to avoid the lease interest
And I'm just like really really annoyed because it's like
A car is the one thing that I spend money on because we spend so much time in one
and I want to enjoy that amount of my day and I'm just like
This close to just like taking it back to the dealership
Paying them whatever I owe on the negative equity and just like walking away from it. But
Then I don't have a car for work. So
I don't know what to do but
There's no one else
experience this
Oh god
Nobody has experienced this and listens to the culture. So we're at 1200 a month. Yeah for a Santa Fe for everybody that thinks that
We've exaggerated what people are paying for Tahoe's and palisades and tell your eyes
Tell your eyes. You had a huge tell your eyes. You've had a lot of these stories in the last couple years. I mean
A Hyundai Santa Fe
16 to 80 like what what what do we
This is when we go back to
People think you're railing against Hyundai or Kia or even the Toyota conversation
There's certain numbers these these vehicles from these manufacturers the dollars the the dollar amount doesn't dollar amount
you go
Anything with a six next to it is not a Hyundai Santa Fe like to me
And and he's and here's how people get into bad deals
He convinced himself
That that was a nice experience. That was an elevated experience
Because you heard him say that you know, I want to be in something nice when I drive to work
Well, that's not a
A Hyundai Santa Fe is a commuter vehicle to me. Yeah
If I'm buying a commuter vehicle
The number six is not in front of anything. Yeah
Because that's now you're into an elevated price to me for an average middle-class person
$61,000 is not
A
It's not to me. It's not nice. It's the hundred say Hyundai Santa Fe is not nice
The first comment it's a commuter car imagine spending 1200 a month on a Hyundai and then somebody's reply
Don't make yourself sound so ignorant. Hyundai's and Kia's these days are amazing vehicles. This isn't the 1980s anymore, buddy
But then you have that customer out there. Hold on there. They are amazing vehicles for what they are
Yeah, not for $61,000 already or whatever and look by the time he pays his interest
I would find it hard to believe
that
Nowhere on the paperwork that he signed that that $10,000 not pop up. I mean it's on the disclosures
Yeah, so you missed it totally you missed it. I'm not saying they did everything right or the dealer didn't get over
I'm not saying any of that but on the disclosures that you signed
There was an extra $10,000 negative equity written on lots of pages
Because there's a lot of disclosure agreement even if it was digital even like me when I had the big digital Tony start table
You still had to go through all the different slides on your table. Yeah, so
People always ask me
Why I don't jump and go
The dealer did this and the dealer guys he signed this
And i'm not saying that this is right
Or the dealer did everything perfectly
But rob and I have bought a lot of vehicles
The numbers are always on
the
Documents. Yeah, the next part of this is
I have seen one fraud case
With a customer that was true fraud by a dealership in the what now thousands of deals i've been a part of
I've had one fraud case
That's it the rest of them
I've had a percentage where customers have come to me and said
You know they were kind of shady about how they talked to me and then I look at the documents and I go well the documents aren't shady
Everything's listed here and even if you weren't sure of it
It you should ask about it two or three times four or five times 100 you know until you have complete clarity
But I think I think what people get caught up in and i'm not saying everybody but a large percentage
Is they don't realize how how in a rush they are to get that new car? Yeah, and how much they've overlooked? Yeah
And that is again not me defending a single dealer in the world because I don't have any relation with any dealers
Meaning I don't own any dealers that I've never worked at for a dealership any of that kind of stuff
The the thing that people
This guy signed a lease paying 600 dollars bi-weekly
I'm not sure that can be put on very many people but him. Yeah
He signed in a lot of places by the way, you bought a car recently
There's a lot of places that you have to initial and sign like bro if I got initial one more time
I'm not gonna take a hundred percent. It's like buying a more. It's like buying a house. It's like yeah
I mean it's because you want the car so bad. You're like come on. Come on. We're all guilty of it, right? I've
Think cars I bought for myself
I've missed some things
Like this isn't a judgment you can't act like nobody's had a perfect record of buying cars
That's never especially if you bought a lot of them yet things you would have wished you'd have done different
I've I've waved some ppi's just to get a deal done like I'll screw it man
I'll take the risk because I knew somebody else is on the back end of this deal
And if I kept going back and forth I was going to lose the deal
And if it's a new car too, it's sometimes it's those freaking add-ons that you're just like I've talked to 15 people
I thought we were going to get this taken care of. I'm already here
Fine put the door cup jam things or whatever the hell or put you know the tins
So yeah, yeah, and it's I feel for the guy, but
This is where we get into for our crowd
See everything through the lens of
Does this price for this car for this brand name to be on it?
Does $85,000
Sound correct to dump into an all-plastic vehicle with a badge change regardless of what company no
And he would also what also happens to some people is that when they work the courage up to like go work a deal
And something that they're used to and we've gotten a lot of these messages in the past right like well
Not everybody's an expert like nick to talk to a salesman or whoever
Well, then they work themselves up they get the the price they think right they set the desk or they get it on paper even
And then when they get back to the fni office and everything kind of slows down in the process
And you have a lot to sign and go through well
Then when you see something that you're not sure of you don't you don't go back to that confident you outside on the floor
Or outside in the you know the salesman's office now
It's holding their experience and you just kind of you just eat it you swallow it and you just go with it
And that's so let me let me give everybody some sentences that'll help you seriously
We've agreed on a price
Let's just call it 80 grand for whatever car that way people don't get offended if I say a car name here
80 grand
I use this line
That's 80 grand all in
I see anything else on that paperwork. That's not 80 grand all in
tax title
Add on anything else now. I've told people this if you want to sell me the car for a dollar
And put 79,999,000 of whatever else you want to put on there. I don't care
I am not paying we agreed to 80
However, you write it up that makes you more commission or makes you feel better or what cool
It's 80 grand out the door
I'm not paying a dollar over that
So if I walk back there and it said 86 thousand dollars for that I'd be like, yeah, we're I already told you it's 80
And I've had people write up deals that if you saw the paperwork you'd be like
That car was awful cheap. It's like, yeah, that's I don't care how they wrote it up
We said it was going to be 48,000 dollars
That's what I was willing to pay for it. However, they write it up
Doesn't matter to me
That is that's my number and then in the background you got kid rock. Ah
But it's like you just got to be real with them. Yeah, the other thing is like
Especially because I've been a part of so many cash deals
You have to remind them
I am initiating the wire
For 40, you know, let's just use the 80 grand. You're getting 80,000 dollars. Yeah
You're not getting 80,260. 85,140
You are getting 80,000 dollars how you choose to write up the paperwork doesn't matter to me
And also what you'll see a good f and i guy
Look at you kind of dap you up and go. I got it. Yeah
And they just go do their thing and they come up and
This is agreed upon price and you may see some weird things on there that they want to make themselves feel better
Maybe they get bonus a little bit more. I don't I told you the price. I'm willing to pay
Yeah, they also don't want to struggle. They don't want to pull teeth
Like if they if they feel like they can I'm going to use this term loosely take advantage of the situation
They will but if like Nick just said he feels like you're somebody you can just dap up
You're like, all right, let me just get this done get the fuck out of here. So I can move on to the next person
Yeah, even when I told people this story before when I found that mistake on an auto nation website for that Subaru
That's and I guy was great
Now he didn't know he probably was going to lose his job because they'd put the you know
Put the thing on the website wrong by about 10 grand. Yeah, I go
Hey, man, I'm going to make this easy for you. This the price I'm going to pay like
I'm going to wire you the money. I should be in and out of here as fast as possible. He's like great
Like he wanted to get the lunch or something. So I was just like, hey, man, like
He had a girlfriend to meet. Yeah, whatever, you know, it was it was going to cheat with the front desk girl
I don't care what he was doing Rob. I was just like but but he was like one of those guys. He's like
And there are bad f and i people sure that are very uncomfortable in the room. They make you uncomfortable
They're not good at their job
But there's a lot of f and i people like you said they just kind of wanted to get the deal over with
And once they realize you're not going for the nonsense and you're pretty steadfast and
This is the agreed upon price. Yeah
And they really want to get you out of the office because there might be another deal where they they got going on and
And they're like, hey, man, this is this guy or this gal is what what it is and we sold a car and we're good to go
Speaking of what you just said, I just somebody sent me a video of a salesman that did the same thing
He
Well, it was the purchaser the salesman or whoever had posted the car at the price they took it in
Not the price they planned on selling and they still oh, yeah
They honored the price. Yeah, what was what was the car? I don't remember what it was
But it was believe it or not. It might have been a Toyota or a lexus. I think
But it was a nice car. Yeah, it was a nice car. Yeah, yeah
So that's that happens too. Yeah, you know it but if that guy walked in ready to buy
That's what got him that deal. Absolutely. That's a good point
It goes back to the beginning of our of our talk here
If that guy went in and didn't waste everybody's time, they go, ah, you got us
Yeah, we're gonna honor it cool man. No, I'm not saying every dealership's gonna do that
But I bet you get nine out of 10 if you have your shit together. Yeah. Yep. Yep. They guys walk in and like
Which is kind of what happened to you through your after. Let's be honest. That's kind of what happened with your rapper
Yeah, that's a they didn't want that truck on the lot. I mean, they basically admitted to you
Yeah, we're not in this business. We don't what they were basically saying is rob
We don't want people like you at this 100% they're like
You could be the last person like yourself that comes here. I will gladly give you the
2,500 left that I have on it and I believe them too because I I had been following the market
So I knew so when the guy said look, I got 2,500 on this thing
I will give that to you if you come today
I said say less fam
If we make sure that no more robbs come to this dealership because it's pretty nice in him 100%
But then they met me and they're like, you know what? He's not
Nothing. I talked to him after
So I I think
When you're having these conversations guys, I want to say this having your shit together being direct
You don't know how far that goes because a lot of these people deal with people that aren't that way
Yeah, and it you know as a job. It sucks. Yeah, you know, you can say that they want to take advantage
They also want easy. They're a human being
You know, I mean we all just kind of like a guy that comes in there a girl that comes in there a woman that comes in there
Whatever that's got their shit together and it's just like, hey, man, I'm not gonna let's don't do the BS
Okay, I know what I want to pay. I'm willing to pay. You guys been sitting on this car for a while
Like I'm ready. I got my financing ready. If you can beat the rate
I'll go with you. That's another thing people talk to me about all the time financing a car
I walk in there and I got my financing ready and we've said this on the podcast for all you new listeners
It's great to use the financing for leverage
Okay, they're offering at the dealership today a 7.5 on the car you're about to buy
You say you got a 6% from the credit union and you just go I'm gonna finance through the credit union
That's the stupidest way to use it. It's like I have a 6% rate if you can beat it
I'll finance through this dealership. That's the way you use a rate. Yeah
Not you're not gonna finance me blah blah blah. It's like no
What if they came back and said we'll give you 5% so you just left because percentages is what you cared about, right?
Right
Up until you didn't know how to use the rate that you got you
If you walk in and did that and I know a lot of people do and they have for a long time
But if you walk in you're gonna be the kind of person that they say like that's the kind of credit card
You don't necessarily want you don't want every customer. You don't want every credit card
You want the right customers for your business? Yes
And again lots of lost deals that would have been good for the consumer
Just by not being
Very basic to the point and honest up front
Hey, I got a 6% rate at my credit union
I'd be happy to to let you guys finance this vehicle
But I have a 6% rate and so you in my shoes mr. F and I
You wouldn't you wouldn't pay a seven and a half rate and they're gonna look at you and go that's true
Okay, so if you can go back and work your magic and get me 5.5 or five
I'll stay here and I'll finance it with you
So now what you might find is they were trying to mark it up two and a half points
Which happens everywhere. Okay, which by the way your credit union can mark your rate up as well
Maybe they can qualify you at 4.5, but they charge you 5.5. That's a markup of some site of some kind
Everyone's in this business to make a buck. Yeah, it's not rocket. They wake up to make a living guys. We learned this last week
Yeah, like the craziest part is people are like, you know, I just go to my credit union. It's like, yeah, they're in business too, but
They get I mean
And you know what your credit union will give you your best the best rate until they don't and there will come a time
Well, they won't and you're gonna be like
I thought I just I just had a friend on a house
a very significant
Eight figure house that he purchased
Who has all of his business accounts?
Millions upon millions of dollars running through this credit union. They did not give him the best house rate
Bro, I know we're near the close to that story two years ago similar situation. I was so pissed at this credit union
I was like, are you fucking joking me?
Yeah, and let me tell you something
It got under his skin until him and I talked and we were doing something
I don't know. I saw him somewhere. He's all fired up because it just happened and I go
What did you get the loan? He goes, yeah, I got a loan. I'm like, so what are you mad about like
It's the principal. Nick. What are you talking about? Yeah. So he was like a big I got into this and then he looked at me and he goes
Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm like
But it's they shouldn't have done that but you gotta realize they don't do a bunch of eight figure home loans at your credit union
That's fair. I'm not I'm not saying they don't do any
but
But I do one a year and you weren't gonna be number two
You like you weren't gonna
Is what it is
Yeah, I'm like and and he goes well, you know all the business. I got I feel you
But the world is what man
Like I love how Cole cool comic collected nix being referring to his friend story because if it was nick and it was a wrong day at the
Wrong time. Sure. I'm a human. Yeah, Okay, and he and and if he said that to me and the way I said it to him
I'd be like, yeah, you're probably right
That makes sense
He sent me down repeat the story of the way it happened. I might I might feel you a little bit more
Yeah, like and that's what I said to him. I said, yeah, I'd be pissed
But did you did you get it all figured out? He goes. Yeah, so cool like
You only have two choices now. Are you gonna take all your accounts out of the credit union?
God was so close to I got was so goddamn by the way
I hear you
But for this guy I go, are you really going to take this 25 year business relationship that you
Is great
And go to somewhere else and have to get all new accounts and set up all new payments and all new automatic withdrawals
He's like, no, I'm like, well then you're stuck like check buddy
You have to be petty elsewhere. There'll be somewhere else. He'll be petty. It'll be like be petty somewhere else
You know be petty on the golf course be petty. So I mean just be petty, you know at your office for a few hours
I don't know. Oh Nick and I always joke about how petty we can be, you know
And it's just the funniest thing because most dudes I don't people in general don't like to admit that but let's be real
If it really irks you you will be petty and it's okay to be petty. I think it's fine
Yeah, I'm the I'm the king of petty. I'm never going to say that that I haven't done a lot of stuff out of petty
That's that's crazy. There's there's certain
Certain circumstances where somebody might ask me to message somebody about a potential collaboration or project for whatever it could be
It could be car related music related, you know live entertainment related whatever
And and I understand Nick and I have talked also all fair of like just so many people have been burned into different situations
That they just themselves write off those kind of situations. So I understand that it doesn't mean that I won't be petty
So reach out and it's even worse because on instagram they you see seen they they saw your fucking message, right?
See it once you follow up again very politely and kindly
And then say hey, you know, if you're not interested I'd still appreciate a response
Like no big deal and they see it again in a response
You're dead to me. You are dead to me
And I cannot wait for this to fall somewhere on your table. You're like, I wish I had done that thing
And not ignored rob. Yeah, I don't
I would say this
Not in so it's not that far back. It's not that far back. Okay. I'm not gonna act like you know, I'm mother Teresa now
Okay, because I'm not right
uh
Uh
There is something about
Where society has gotten with
Just a polite response is what that's what you were asking for I was asking for
uh, and we've experienced this and and and
Uh, you know, we've even been a part of it when when people kind of approach you the wrong way
You're like, I don't really want to get into this but when somebody's approaching you politely. Yeah
All you have to write back is hey, man, not in the market. Yeah for whatever you're doing. Appreciate it
I'll reach out if if something changes
uh
I think that's probably at its lowest point in the history of the world right now
Absolutely
I mean even like return emails. Yeah, like I don't even you know, I don't even need a sentence. Just say hey not interested
You know what I mean, like whatever and I think people should expect that out of us
Like anybody like we do a good job not a perfect job
But like part of the reason that that that I think we respond to comments right now is because I think people deserve it
Now I will tell you
The 80 percent of you that are great people
You need to be really concerned about the future
Of the internet because the 20 percent's ruining it for you
yeah, yep, and
That's the same in everyday society by the way. Yeah, like there's a lot of
Services and products that cost 10 to 20 percent more than they should
Simply because they're factoring in having to deal with the 20 percent headache makers
Like there's there's there is a stupid tax in society
That 80 percent of people pay that aren't the idiots. Yeah
Like but you pay it because you're paying for the 20 percent idiots
It's true at a restaurant. I mean think about wal-mart. Okay
Everything that's stolen off the shelf at wal-mart
The people that would never steal you're the one paying for the stolen goods in the price of the goods
It's true
Right. This goes for any store target, you know grocery stores, whatever mostly wal-mart. But yeah
Yeah, I'd say wal-mart. Yeah, it would be the leader
But yeah, you you I think we don't as a society talk enough about
When I started my business, I thought it was about 5 to 10 percent headache customers
16 years into business. I'd say you're you're approaching the 10 to 20 percent
And that is becoming something that nobody talks about. Yeah, it's nuts, man
And we I usually don't talk a lot about a lot on the show or in general
But when I had a brick-and-mortar business years ago it's going on a decade
I worked seven days a week for three straight years seven days a week for three years with the general public
with the general public and doing events and even athletes and whatever
And network nights the whole thing and anytime somebody texts me email me direct message me
Whatever on my personal one on that business account
I was sure to just give some sort of reply and if I ever didn't and you hear this somewhere down the line
I apologize
But that level of effort and there's nowhere near what it was 10 years ago just 10 years ago. Yeah
There's no there's no question
No and people are missing out on things
You know people are missing out on business opportunities. They're burning bridges unnecessarily
It's a weird world. But like I said
I understand why also people are like if they've dealt with a lot of the 20 percent knuckleheads and the
Last few weeks before you DM them
I could also understand when they're like, you know what? I'm gonna take a break from that totally totally
Which is why hey, maybe you're dead to me was a little far, right? Yeah
I mean, maybe you're not as good as person as you
No, that's not I'm I'm even better of a person than I think I am. How about that? Yeah, I'm better than the person
I think I
That's funny
Here talk about burning bridges throwing shade and maybe I don't know burning the boats as they say
CVK is talking some so talking some smack throwing some shade at your boys at Ferrari
Before we play any videos or pull up any articles
We've mentioned the 12th cilindry before you've mentioned it a couple times
Do you have any perspective on what the internet because what Ferrari's doing right now? They're they're what are they what's it called?
it's a
the
It's a diversionary tactic is what it's being called
Where their pr is trying to run from the luce situation into what is now the 12th cilindra situation
Which is by the way, which is corporately smart. Yeah, no, of course for sure, right? But now you have very very bright to let's
It felt like they had this on deck for a bad day
A thousand percent because it was all of a sudden like hey all you press people. How about you fly over here?
It's like was this thing just like set up
Didn't go away hit the red button
this this uh
Half manual. Mm-hmm basically uh, what is it simulated manuals what they call it I think basically
Good or bad, I think is probably something I'm not going to have this conversation under
Mm-hmm
This is not a manual Ferrari. Let's just say in the traditional sense. Let's just go ahead and get that out there
So everybody doesn't think everything's being a misson
I am not certain
How this is going to drive is an experience
When essentially you can flip back and forth from automatic
I think maybe
I like the idea because it at least gets you somewhat towards an engaging experience
But I only like it because modern wise we're not building at Ferrari the traditional manual
So it's like you're almost accepting. Yes something that you don't really want to accept
Right, so it's a really tough thing for I think a lot of people to wrap their heads around me me
I would include myself in that I just go
We just kind of want you to build the freaking manual
Like it's just kind of like you're you you're already halfway there. Yeah, you're more than halfway there
Yeah, like let's just let's just do the thing because the thing looks sweet. The thing looks really good. Absolutely
So did you see the video of cvk talking driving this car? Oh, perfect. All right
Let's just come on down the next contestant on clutch culture pod. Are we going to share this video?
I hate these new updates. Sorry guys. All right, here we go
Hey guys cvk here
Outriving the cc8 50 with a super exciting
ESS shipping system connected to our
Lightning fast LST transmission with no flywheel or clutch
There's been a lot of chatter online about these type of solutions lately
Like four or five years after we invented it and it's cool to see others joining this idea
But they're not connected to an LST transmission
So the rev match won't be as fast
And if you want to go from fifth to second like that with zero delay
That'll be interesting to see how they will do that with the dct
And after this video he had 40 broken parts on this kind of thing that car was at a commission for four weeks
And that would be on that'd be just delivery time
He's right to throw shade. Absolutely. He's right to throw shade. I think
As a character, I like him a lot by the way. Yeah, him getting more pet speaking of petty him getting more petty on the internet
Has been great for the the car
Community as a whole. Yep
I think when you watch him have fun with it
Like he was I can see that that it's definitely more engaging than a paddle, you know a paddle shift
I just think
I don't know how into it
Most and it's still going to be I believe special order. This isn't going to be something, you know from Ferrari
I think it's still considered in their tailor-made program
But I I it's a step in the direction
I just don't know that all of us are ever going to be thrilled until it's just a manual again
And you know, I just don't know we're going to get there. No, what was the last real gated manual like
2010 2012 something like that probably
Yeah, I'd have to think that through it's a long time ago
But what I was going to say is and I didn't really see it mentioned anywhere is the conics eggs
You still have the paddles in the 12th cylinder. You're not even going to have paddles. It's just yeah, that's it. It's that and then it's just a pure
Yeah, yeah, that's kind of like a missed opportunity. I thought too
I
Just don't know how to quantify all this. It's like I think there's some coolness to the feature
But it's not Ferrari cool. Yeah, right like
Ferrari cool is a gated manual
That's Ferrari cool
Yes, but I'm also the same guy that would tell you
F8
488 those types of cars great daily drivers
Rather reliable for a Ferrari. You can drive it a lot of miles. It's comfortable to sit in. It's fun to drive
So i'm not like this purist that goes
You know the only ferrari's that matter are the ferrari's or they're only ferrari's
I'd like to drive or just purely a gated manual. I don't think that's really true either
There's I mean the f8 is crazy fun to drive and and the f8 is is fun and those types of things
I just think this is this is a step somewhere. I think it's hard to quantify what
What all of us think until some of these start to get out and uh
You know to me would would would be the conversation here
Like what what do we all think when we actually get to to mess around with it? Look at that
That's great. By the way, those bronze wheels look awesome
Bronze wheels do look good on a lot of things and I love this darker red by the way. It looks fantastic
Yeah, and I I said
I watched harry's garage this video another one if you guys aren't watching his stuff and you're just kind of a nerd about cars
I think he's
somebody that's
Obviously worth watching not going to be the most entertaining. It's not cletus mcfarlane. Let me be clear
You know, it's just a lot of it's a lot a little different
type of thing, but I think he does a good job and I've always subscribed to his channel and that kind of thing but
It's something different for ferrari. I think it's hard for any of us that look at ferrari and go man
I wish this and I wish that
After the luce. This is probably the best we could hope for let's be honest
Like this cleans the palette a little yeah, not a lot
Uh, but the car looks awesome. Uh, like you said that red with those bronze wheels looks
I mean, that's that's pretty pristine body lines and
Finish and that kind of thing. So I this is one of those cars
I want to see people
And and hopefully I'll have some people that grab some grab this and and and get to to see what it's really like, but
I also think we all need to cheer on
Cbk because his pettiness on the internet has been for about a year really fun to watch pretty top notch
Oh, yeah
Well speaking of the swell slingery versus the luce
Did you get any kind of you know insight from people that have those kind of cars
It might be in the market for those kind of cars when they started hearing more about the the how it works and what you can expect
a
The luce is still a very in some group chats of mine very very heavy jokes. Wow. Wow. Okay. That has not calmed down
Other things that people don't let go. Yeah, they're not gonna let go
Of course them firing the marketing officer that that gave it another week or two of jokes
Uh, and I think they tried to say he resigned
They did did it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah that you know, that's a good time
You hear anytime you hear resigned to spend time with family right after a disaster
I can guarantee you that that's not what he decided to do
Uh, but I I think
Luce is still a bad taste. It's not it's not worn off and
Because dealers are having to do the dealer thing that they've always done with Ferrari. It was is sort of like
Not only gauge interest but get orders
I think it's it's it's allowed this to extend out and the question I have is
Will ferrari and this
in this new
electric luce fiasco, are they just going to abandon
Making people buy it. I doubt it, but I think they could be pushed to do that
I was gonna say do you think it actually because
After the campaign that that guy before he was let go went on had to you know
Talk about how customers aren't being pushed and you know, we don't force things on them
Then then all the all of the dealer emails started to get shared. Yeah, and it's like
Now your marketing officer is lying which means the corporate company is lying which means your dealers are now lying
Which are or someone in the system is lying more than the other person lying in the system
Then you see customers who are loyal to ferrari going. I can't believe what you've done to the brand
This is an embarrassment. You need to shut it down. Those are being shared every day
I mean, those are just going to keep being shared
I'm just very interested to see
This new phase of ferrari where I think this is all related to just massive growing pains
They're trying to become a company. They've never been which is
Mass production or mass production in their scale right not like toio to mass production
But they're trying to do more production. They have shareholders
They have all these people to answer to they have all these new
Types of executives that maybe are not heritage to the brand of ferrari
A lot more outsiders involved. Obviously when we see the iphone designer come in
That that's not heritage
To the ferrari brand and I had some people bring up the pen and farina thing
You know that that they think what happened here is
That the the the Italians because pen and farina is owned by by by an indian company now
They didn't they didn't think they're they're losing their way. Let me let me calm everybody down with something here
Could you have lost your way anymore?
I'm not saying you had to hire pen and farina and you could you you you can have big worries about it, right?
Well, that's not the old company and it's owned by some I hear you
Iphone designer doesn't roll off the tongue either
I think so worked up you turned into Chandler. Could you have lost your way anymore?
I mean
I hear all these theories and i'm not saying they're wrong. I'm not saying that they're wrong
But if that's what was being thought about in italy by the ferrari
Executives was
We don't know how we feel about an indian-owned company
You know that we used to do business with and we may need
They could have done worse
This is as bad as it got. I mean this was a disaster
And the and the people that you that you uh
Aspire to call is like, you know what's really cool is this iphone i'm holding that'll translate really well over to car design
Well, they made a pretty big push for it
And what's funny is that you can kind of see it working in today's world
Everyone's got ipads and apple watches obviously and whatever but it fell as flat as it possibly could have fallen
It's beyond flat. I mean it went it went through the core of the earth
Of how far it fell like this this is coming out the other side of earth of how far that it fell
Yeah, what's on the other side of flat earth? I don't know
I have been responding to some people. I don't think a lot of people know what the word collusion means
Please explain to me what what if i've missed these completely so
There's a lot of people when you talk about evs and especially when you say like there there's a lot about the ev
world that doesn't make sense
So
We put out a clip about
The am ggt which was the ugliest one of the i mean luce stole the show, but it was it's still pretty poorly done
And it was just talking about you know the prices of these evs really is just not adding up after all of these
Essentially a couple decades of supposed innovation. We're not really seeing prices come through the floor now ford
Is basically saying they've solved that right i mean and you know the model y and and the model three
Those things do exist, but for the most part
We're not seeing companies break the 50 000 and matter of fact
We're seeing a lot of brands not break the 100000 dollar price barrier
And people are like well, you know, that's because the the car companies are in collusion to keep the prices high
You collude to make a lot of money not you don't collude to lose billions of dollars. That's not collusion. That's just stupid
That's stupid. Yeah
Yeah, even when you say it out loud
Yeah, like I don't think you know what the word and by the way a lot of people believe this
collusion
Leads to billions of dollars in people's pockets. There's an upside to it. Yeah. Yeah
collusion to lose
At this point you're probably what
50 billion a 100000000000 200 billion lost
Between major companies that's not collusion bud. That's stupidity. That's not understanding the market
So all of you that think there's like some kind of colluding going on globally
I don't think you know what happens when people collude
And also you got to stop bringing up byd when you talk about american evs. All right
Some people or by the way or european
Evies sure you might well two and the same honestly if we're being honest a lot of connections
I'm sure you saw that poll star got banned from the us. Yeah, they're they are well, they're pulling out nick
All right, they didn't get banned they're pulling out because they're not making some
You know concessions that might need to be made here in the state basically if I understand this correctly poll star
Who's attached to volvo who's also attached to the chinese so volvo went through the testing of the software
And then poll star said we didn't want to go through it
That's kind of sums it up because they use the same technology
So they weren't excuse to get out. Yeah, I think where we're shake out here is poll star will probably still be in the marketplace
This will probably get ironed out but something feels really off about
What are you talking about dude? Like
Unless it was just an excuse to like shut the company down. That's what I'm saying. Let's take this
This shit sucks. Let's take this burn it now
Yeah, that could be the truth
But I mean I always found it. I found a funny somebody texts me about it. I go
Did volvo go through the test or like, yeah, I'm like
Poll star would I mean it's the same
If anything, this sounds a little bit more like collusion. We're like, hey guys
Yeah, yeah, well actually what this sounds like is one of the executives is like we can get out of this and not be our fault
Let's do it. Yeah, how do we write this down and make it, you know work for us in the when tax season comes around?
And the best part is they're like, I guess they got like close to 50 dealerships. We're like, we'll keep those open
Let me tell everybody. No, they won't
I didn't even know they had that many
I think so it's like 40 or 45 or 50 dealerships. It's like, well, we'll keep those open to service our cars
Let me go ahead and tell everybody. No, they won't
Let me tell you how that ends
Not well
That'd be like if Mitsubishi pulls out of the u.s. Finally, and they'd be like, yeah, we don't there's no dealerships
No, you can go to Johnny's over here and get your Mitsubishi worked on
We'll we'll make sure we'll abide by the letter of the law keeps some parts coming in
Sure. Sure. There's no more Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi
Well, you brought up four just now, which uh, I'm glad you did did you see there's not an official name for it
But do you remember or have you seen what name might be coming back for this universal?
You know ev platform that they've had not
Oh, please take a guess before I pull it up real quick. I'm give me a second
I'm gonna pull it up think of an old name because remember this is going to be very maverick-esque
From what we've seen ranger. No bro. They have a ranger right now
Not not the old school. Well, don't never that'll never that'll not come back. That's a once in a life there
You out there. You correct me in front of our fan
Come on one more give one more guest to an old Ford name
Hmm
Taurus no damn. I thought you were gonna get it 2028 ranchero
You know who they're going after hey, hey, I bought the raptor at a BMW dealership dammit
But cue the mariachi music
So this is an official, but this is what people are guessing there's no official name confirmed yet
But people are calling it the ranchero. It's gonna be a $30,000 electric truck
Uh, I like it. I think it looks cool. It actually kind of looks like a tourist if I'm being honest
I don't mind those wheels. Yeah
I think the whole package is pretty pretty sweet. Is this kind of like what Chevy's uh, what was it the ssr?
Kind of looked for a little bit with a two-door
Yeah, I think you're really reaching there really. All right. I'm gonna pull it up in a second
But let go ahead. You can do whatever you want
Let me guess when you're trying to prove your point that'll get pulled up real quick. You know what
Here's another thing that nick did earlier. He's like, oh Rob likes to edit stuff. No, no, no
Nick has forgotten that he's become a wizard of podcasting
Virality that he says things in a way that I don't even have to nobody no nobody or nobody that helps me
We don't have to edit nick says it so cleverly the hook
But do you think that I'm gonna plan out? All right the us land cruiser atrocity. I'm not planning
I'm not changing words around he says it because he knows it's gonna go viral
For those of you that have been listening longer than a week
You know, we have an issue on this podcast and the issue is one of us is a hand up guy
And one of us isn't
We've already we've talked this through. I'm a hand a up guy
I gotta hand up for you. I'm trying I'm trying to do personal development
And you're you know, you're just living your life over there in texas look
You guys are delusional about some things. I started the show. I said nick
You know, you should really create some sort of very educational course for people
Fuck teaching people anything. Nobody wants to learn anything
It's basically what he said without saying it. I'm just saying I didn't say it that way. He didn't say it that way
But also I do like the ranch arrow though. That's pretty cool
So, you know, so what is the idea and I haven't you know for all you listeners that are maybe
Have taken a deeper dive
Is it essentially that a lot of different things are going to be
Introduced or brought back or however you want to say it with the ranch arrow name
Like is essentially like a tourist and a fusion going to come back and the whole idea is that this stuff is all going to be around
$30,000. Yes a low-cost
Electrical platform essentially is what they're wanting. Yeah, that's great right introduce and then scale on
Do we know what any of these
Vehicles are going to get like from a mileage perspective range range wise. I hope they say it in this and this is the newest one actually
But I don't see it
What do you think people are going to have to or what people are going to want in order to accept
I'd say you still need to probably figure out a way to be close to there it is there it is. Yeah
Yeah, yeah 300 that sounds right
Yeah, it'll hit zero to 60 as quick as the ego boost Mustang 4.5 5 seconds if you should care about that which it is kind of important to some people
I I think this I'm going to be interested
This basically kills slate. Oh, that's let's call a spade a spade here
But somebody will be buying that slate factory at a discount. Yeah, probably probably but yeah, probably for
That looks like that's where that's headed
Uh
I think I'm very interested to see this because this is and for everybody's been listening to a long time listening to us for a long time
Me especially
This is what I think Evie's should have always been the goal. Yeah, how to do
You know 20 to 40 thousand dollar stuff
Range has gotten better right, you know, I mean if you started back years and years ago asking for that
Maybe the range would have been 150 miles 300 miles feels right and these are things look I think any of us that say
You know
All in I could get a ranchero and it cost me 30 grand on the dot
And I think that's the other thing when people talk about these being appliances
One of the things that they're right about is that's how people see them
The question is who's going to be the first manufacturer to say
We told you this is 31 thousand dollars. So you walk into the dealership and you pay 31 thousand dollars
Because if it's an appliance when we all go and buy an appliance
They say this
Refrigerator costs 3,500 bucks and it costs 3,500 bucks
So if you're telling people and training people on appliance and that's the way it's all being talked about sort of through the ecosystem
You sort of have to price it like an appliance which is
It's 30 thousand dollars. dollars now when you buy that refrigerator. You have state sales tax and things like that
But you can't advertise 30 thousand dollars on an appliance
Which is the way people see these and somebody walk in and go at this dealership. It's 34 and at this
I just wonder how that's all going to play out long term. What's unfortunate too
I think about referring to it as an appliance, which is what everybody has done
But even now that they're really because another big thing for ford was that they're, you know
Using 20 or 30 less parts and fasteners and stuff and you're also calling it an appliance. What do most americans think of modern-day appliances?
They're disposable, huh? They break. They break. Yeah, they're disposable. So in my mind like, okay, we're gonna make they're making a cheap
Appliance EV that you can drive around that you can still have pretty much all the bells and whistles you would want
But it's gonna have less material. It's probably less quality feeling. I would imagine
You're gonna throw it away in 24 months 36 months like it's gonna be expected that you're moving on to the next
25 to 30,000 so before you buy a 30,000 dollar vehicle, it could last you a good amount of time
Not just tell you it's gonna be interested to see the lease deals. Yeah, right. I mean you can be down to like
$250 at least yeah, $195 sub $200 lease deals easily and I'm gonna tell you that's going to move EVs
This has been we came on the air for new listeners at the end of 2024
Literally the last 45 days of 2024
I've said this from the beginning
If the price is right
That's going to flip people somebody walks in your dealership
And we got a Hyundai Santa Fe going for you know, 600 bucks bi-weekly 1200 bucks a month
Or I can buy this ranchero and it's 249 dollars a month
You crack the code
Dude and then right in the middle
I don't know what the full deal was but I got another video sent to me of a
Lady who was getting a family vehicle. She's all about Mercedes
She was going to leave Mercedes for whatever reason because maybe she had a bad experience with some of you
I don't remember but she ended up getting a GLB for 398 with no money down
How the fuck how you move metal that's how you move metal
And you're not going to tell me no matter what Mercedes you're in the experience isn't going to be leaps and bounds better than any
Kia Hyundai product at double the price triple and reminder before anybody says anything about reliability
It's a lease. Yeah, so every you know, everything's under the lease, you know, if something happens recall, whatever it's under a lease
and so
You look at a $1,200 lease or you look at
companies like
GM Ford
Toyota
Honda that really start to figure out these EV platforms and say
Hey, it's really not working trying to sell an $80,000 EV. You know what really works?
$250 a month
On these EVs we we're getting people to
Come into the ecosystem of Ford because we have something at this price point
That's been my only argument about EVs from the beginning. I've never hated on them
I've never told anybody that they're the greatest thing in the world. I've been on the fence and I say again and again
EV adoption is all about making it something you can't say no to
Dude, imagine these people were neighbors and she's like, hey, you got a new car too. What'd you get?
I got a new Santa Fe. Oh, awesome. What'd you get it for? I leased it for you know, like 600. Oh a month
No, every two weeks. Oh, what'd you get? I got a new g l 26 glb
Oh, what'd you pay like 2,000?
Not 400 a month. No money down
Wow, you really suck guy. This lady really took it to you. Yeah. No, it's it's it's one of those things like I'm gonna be
Jim Farley
Has been one of our favorites to talk about on this podcast. He's been quiet
He has been very quiet. We need him. I'm telling you the marketing team found out what we were trying to tell him like hey
Wait till the ranchero comes out. Don't say too much before
but
To Jim Farley's credit it seems like behind the scenes
They have
If this these platforms all come to fruition at the prices they're
promising
That he went in 100% the correct direction on ebes
Yeah, he he is one of the few that seem to learn from the disaster of the lightning. Yeah, right
Is gm gonna do the same as hon? I don't know any of that
But I know right now it seems ford pushed the fastest
To the downside, which is the only thing I've ever said you've got to go way down. Yeah, and and if they do
Then you got to give forward credit and nobody seems to be even on the same level close
Or even close the same level as what he's doing and they're doing at the speed they're doing to try to deliver on that promise
I mean, they will be the winners of no because if you can't even if somebody who covers or
Talks about this so frequently and so closely can't see anyone else doing it. You know, they're the winner
They're gonna win. Yeah, I got a crazy question. What's happening with gm. I was just gonna say mary's not doing nothing like this
Yeah, well, mary
Boy does she have something on those board members, but
All of them all
She must have given all the board members
The best c8 corvettes to get built. I thought you were gonna say something else completely. Yeah. Well, I mean that that's good
It goes with that saying
That you know just saying but I'm saying
Uh, yeah, but I I'm very interested and do we know the rollout?
Do we know when this stuff is like really gonna hit and that's the other problem?
By the time this all rolls out if you start to eat towards 40
You get less and less interesting. Yeah, so this has to be
That 25 to 35 range for all of these things because if they start to get into 40
I think it loses interest
Yeah, I was trying to see real quick if there was but I don't necessarily see it
So, you know, it suggests a launch of as early as 2028, which is still kind of far away
But there's still a lot that can be done between now and I agree with that
All right, before we wrap up fully and land the plane here is uh, what most might consider an obscure brand
But what of next favorite did you see the new 2027 land rubber defender?
well, we
I've seen a lot of uh, 30 day plates around my around my neighborhood under the new defender
So unfortunately it loses. Well, it loses the four cylinder, but it's also losing the 5.0 the v8
And now it's gonna have a straight six. I believe it says here in the article
So if you want the v8, you have to go up to the octa
But um good review so far from what I read about the the v6 overall
I mean, it looks awesome. It doesn't really if you don't care necessarily about performance
It is one of the coolest looking vehicles out there
We got a uh, British racing green. Essentially. It's probably a different code name and land rover with black wheels that I
see all the time at my
At jujitsu and uh, was that the one you jumped into?
Boy, does it look good
I mean, it might not work five years from now, but I'll tell you this it looks awesome now
I know we're two years from now
Well, relax. We're we'll give them two years. I just need to get it. I just need to get it through the lease 24
Yeah, that's all that matters. Yeah, so for everybody that's like sitting screaming into their their car speakers right now
Let me tell you something. We're all very aware of land rover. All right, doesn't make it any less cool
Settle down, right? It's it's still cool as hell, which is really what matters. Let's be honest
Yeah, I mean at some point when you're leasing a car. I mean for 1200 a month this guy could have got a defender
It's crazy. That's crazy. You could have got just about anything you wanted
Whatever might have been able to lease a luce easily that well, they're gonna give you give those away eventually
Dude tie cans are like free also get a used tie can. Yeah, you could have got a tie can
There's another one. I got one more and then we'll end the plan
We'll go into this subject further because it was a crazy story with the drive editor and the flock cameras
But before we even get to all that next time
This is a video somebody sent me of an infinity
And I don't know exactly what model because it doesn't say but you're gonna get the gist of why this is a an important video
Enough for you. There's another camera here watching and then there's another I gotta restart this thing
boy
Boy there is a driver monitor camera those two red
That right there is a driver monitor camera those two red eyes. Yep, they're tracking my eyes
But if that wasn't enough for you
There's another camera here watching and then there's another one
Up top they can see everything that you and all of your passengers do that right
thoughts nick
That seems like a lot of cameras 234 that you can see you're right in front of your face
What's the idea behind this? I mean, I know you got the ones for the self-driving. That's the ones on the steering wheel
It's all safety. What are the what are those are all all four?
Sorry, the back so you can see your kids. Oh that back. I don't know what it's for but they can track
Who's with you? Who's in the car? How many people are seatbelts on?
There there are and you talked about flock cameras. Obviously there was an incident with an editor of the drive
uh
I am not deep down the rabbit hole of flock camera and what is sure, you know happening not happening
in car cameras
Because
I wouldn't necessarily be the most comfortable with that's not my personality. I don't really but
There's a flip side if you're going to do full self-driving
Then you don't have a choice but to sign up for cameras to be on the interior. Yeah, so now it almost seems like
you're making the choice
Of how far as a consumer now. I'm sure that's going to be taken away at some point
They're just going to have cameras and everything that they produce but I don't think we're there yet, correct?
Well, apparently I did have one up where in europe. It's completely
Mandatory so in-car cameras are now required in europe and you know, it says the us aren't far behind
So look you go deeper down these rabbit holes than I do that's for everybody out there
It's very obvious. What's what what's the yeah, we know that's why they asked you to get out of that deal
They're like they saw your tin foil hat coming from a mile away to get this guy out of here
We don't need a wake-up situation
So I'll ask this question. Okay
Because you always ask me the question so you could clip them and make me look like a certain type
Sure. Yeah, that's fine. What what's your idea of all this?
Like what I mean now that it's so pervasive in europe like what is what is your
Worst fear of what is going on here? Well, it's no surprise or it's no
I shouldn't come as a surprise that cars can already be controlled right from exterior sources of such
Um, now it just becomes one of those things where if you say things that don't you know
Can't be or shouldn't be said depending on who you're talking to
Um, they'll find your car. They'll stop your car whenever they want whether it's at high speeds or not
Uh, they'll make sure that you can't access get in or out of the car if it becomes necessary
but really it's just about total control and uh if people have heard about 15 minute cities
I imagine these would be within those 15 minute cities like you're already confined to a space
You're confined to what you're driving if you're even able to drive in these spaces
And it just comes down to you travel what we say you can travel and if not
You're going to pay a premium for it in the form of a tax or in a form of something else
Maybe even a ticket or some other sort of uh, you know
So but you also have this weird thing where you're basically going to have to
Abolish a lot of privacy laws to share this information
Well, that is if you think that there's still privacy laws and I know that sounds super conspiratorial, but it no
I know where you're going with that. I mean you for new listeners. You need to understand Rob
Rob is saying that but there's a there's a nuance to this. I don't need anybody tracking this podcast, by the way
If you don't think we're on the radar already, you're at it. No, no, I'm talking about tracking for other purposes
They're not people listening. Sure. Uh, I I think
I don't have a great feeling about where all this ends. I don't even have a great feeling about where all this is starting
Okay, I don't I don't have a great feeling at all. So don't anybody get it wrong. I just don't know
I tend to agree with you. There's a lot of nefarious things that can come out of this. I'm not sure the good
So I
I don't like things where I can go. I don't see a ton of purpose
I only see downside and I see a lot of downside and not a lot of purpose on these types of things
even with full self-driving this whole idea that
It's got to follow your eyes and make sure you're paying attention
Well, if your full self-driving works so well, why do I need to do anything?
And you've that that's always made me feel fucking weird
And you've always said how you didn't sign up to be or we didn't sign up right to be the
The guinea pigs the betas of this kind of full self-driving world. Yeah, we didn't we none of us
I mean even if you are against full self-driving you've signed up to be a beta tester because there's other things on the road
Exactly doing that and now you're taking all of these technologies onto the inside
We didn't sign up to just say, okay. Are these going to the insurance companies?
Are they going to the manufacturer?
That was another big thing with all of the proprietary
Technology in these cars that you know these manufacturers don't want access
Where's the information going who gets the information?
I mean, there's a whole thing with microsoft recently
Like there's there's more pins within your operating system that people didn't even know that goes back to microsoft imagine that you buy a computer
Why is microsoft getting you know any of the information of what goes on in this computer?
Well, it's to give the information whoever can access that are asked for it
Same thing with our cars, man
If you if you want somebody to not ever know who all gets in your car, which I know that sounds kind of like well
Are you hiding that doesn't matter? We're not saying that who who we're not saying you're hiding bodies exactly exactly see like
It's not the 80s. We know you're not going to be able to pull that off anymore
But Rob might be a little sensitive with the ice situation
That's fantastic. What a great way for the new thousands and thousands of listeners to hear us
But I will say this like there's a real
There's a lot of things i'm uncomfortable with and it started with full self-driving and this idea that
Well, I have to have my hand on the wheel and I have to have my eyes tracked and I go
For what you told me this was a great technology like we just I mean, you know speaking of beta testers
cities like austin and las vegas and los angeles and
These places that that that you know have reasons like we're more beta testers than most cities in america for a lot
Yeah, for all that for a lot of this like
There there's a real thing right now just this week, uh
I believe zooks, which is uh, uh, basically the square if you guys haven't seen them these square taxis
They always had a person in them and this week they removed the person from the first time
So now you have this conversation of you know, I'm a
Crazy beta tester that I never signed up to be like and
We also had to realize as much as everybody says we want less regulation
The only way to have stopped any of this was insane regulation
Otherwise these companies were going to do whatever they wanted to do and that's what's happened
Like I think full self-driving should have been
When it was released it should have had so many studies done on it
It should have had so many different liabilities that the company was going to have to take on that's not what happened
You know, it's your car. You're still going to be liable and that's why they go
Well, that's why we track your eyes and this is what you were doing. You were looking
Out your window and all this happened. It's I felt like it was always
Not as nefarious as some people have I thought it was always about how to get themselves off the hook
Yeah, when something went bad, that's what I felt like this has all been and I've been proven pretty right on that by the way
I just don't know what this extra shit's gonna be like it. It doesn't feel right. I don't think it's really
It's data collection on some level. It's privacy loss on some level
It's sort of like everything on some level that it's just kind of hard to quantify like why we're even down this road
100 and if you want to completely avoid all of that type of lifestyle
I'm going to pull up one last thing that you guys can maybe look into if you just want to say, you know what?
We're going to go down by the river the new airstream
Sells now for under $65,000. God damn. Did you know they were that expensive?
Dude, this is actually cheaper than some of the other competitors right now
You can get an old-fashioned silver bullet for 65 grand and it's so light now that you can actually pull it with a maverick
Or a raff 4 they actually say in here
Damn. Yeah. Hey as a guy that's not in the uh
RV market
Did you think something that small was 65 grand? No, also look how planet is I get the whole retro thing
But I've seen bigger fancier cooler things for like 30
Damn, I got I got a neighbor that's got a huge RV. Yeah, and uh
All he does is bitch about how much of a piece of shit it is. That's all he does
It's like massive. It's not an airstream. That's why
I
I never thought this was camping so I
You know, I'm gonna fall on the wrong side of RV people here like I don't know man
Go camping or don't but this isn't this to me was never like camping. Hey, can I say it again?
One your full screen can you can one more time and go it's not camping
It's not camping. I'm sorry
like, you know as a guy that uh
enjoys
Hunting if if I say I'm camping in the woods. It usually meant a tent
It wasn't that camping
I'm asking
Sorry, I couldn't I didn't want to laugh. I don't want to rub that's gonna get 100,000 views next week. I hope you're not gonna clip that either
Of course I am. What are you talking about? I mean, I just
I think the shit's cool. Like I just
Don't backpedal now. No, no. I'm not backpedaling. I have you been in some of these RVs. You're like damn
Yeah, this is pretty badass. I I can still think that and go but it's not camping
I'm gonna just go ahead and fall in complete opposite side because it's true. I rather glamp than camp
I didn't say what I would rather do. I said it's just can't be called camping. Okay. That's all all right
Let's come up and glamping to me is too close to camping
So we got to come up with the whole different genre of what this is
Living room in the woods or something
Like I don't know. It's called glamping. They already came up with a word
How are we talking about? I don't like the word Rob. Oh, you don't like the word
I got you. Got you. It sounds like that in the clawed and come up with something different. It sounds too feminine
Vien femenino

Yeah, you're right malfunction fireworks. You're absolutely right
Uh, we could we could have done about 10 minutes on uh fireworks, but
We've gone to a level Rob. It's a whole new level. We've gone to we've gone to a level
There's no going back to that level this this may be one of those ones where we need to be like
You need to take the car around the court and you need to kind of go back the other way just a little bit
Just a little bit of neighborhoods

About this episode
Ferrari’s “half manual” gated-shifter vibe sparks debate: the hosts weigh whether it’s real engagement or PR spin, then compare it to fast-shifting drivetrain ideas and what a true gated manual should feel like. The conversation widens into buying strategy—PPI, readiness, and deal logistics—plus auction and lease math, negative equity, and financing leverage. They also tackle EV pricing, the “collusion” argument, and a rumored Ford Ranchero EV, before shifting to in-car cameras and full self-driving oversight.
