Does professional idiot. No Drive.
After hours. Thank you very much.
How about you? I dream of you.
That's a good start. It's a good start to squeeze in.
Squeeze it hasn't died yet. It's how I will be a will be.
Okay, hopefully you guys doing well, I think we just lost Scott on how you breathe in space. Yes.
In space. How are we all, guys?
Let's get it, straight, some cut updates, we'll start with mr.
Allenby, seeing updates with you, my friend, most of my car, I'm doing okay, I think we discuss a little while ago, when you discussed your diff Maddie. Hmm, - was also a little noisy
when you're first getting onto it.
There's been like a weird. You can prescribe like a
grinding almost sound. This is in the MX-5 Union x 5
but it kind of feels as soon as you speed up.
So I decided to get some of the it's a From parent called shifty's we have got that. It's a PTFE in little squeeze
book to. That's a do about it just keeps
waiting up. We were going to be right here
so I'm going to just check out the car change out, the default got a leader of that as well, squeeze in that tube of Shifty and see what that does. I'm a little concerned because
obviously it's being real drive. Car jacking out from the rear
like the front tires. I got to ask you, make sure
they've got You know, very, very safely because, you know, I don't look forward to being squished under a cusp of something that low. I think that very good, so, not
a good time. Yeah.
I'm just a little cautious of that.
So I'd like somebody to be around in case that does have him. Well, how about we do this
together? All right, well, didn't you just
get everything on the MX-5, what's it doing?
What's wrong with it? If you're a lower speed letter
say, like, oh, Kind of basically under 40 has an hour.
Yeah as you kind of get onto the accelerator, you'll kind of hear like a little almost you could call it kind of grind e sound from the back and then a very quickly disappears as soon as like your RPMs pickup and a higher speeds young here at all the noise you do. Yeah.
It was a little annoyed if no clunking or anything.
Just a little sound. I don't like you, either quite
quite ins down from this. I'll take it.
If it doesn't, it could. Driveshaft, you know, like a
driveshaft issue cause of his brother so it's a good time to investigated while I'm down there.
You know. I know nothing about Trifles.
I'm trying to build it in there or something or split or split.
I'll know, something's up. But we'll see when we get there.
Another positive news, I talked to my dad about the soft top and I just got the idea that I would just do it myself and save the $1300 for labor. And he said, well, since I'm
paying for it. Anyway, once you're done by
professionals, they doing And don't worry about it.
And so that's now the new solution going to get done by someone who knows what they're doing.
Very good food advice this case scenario.
Yes. Especially if you're not
playing. Yes, correct, yes.
So that's all the card. Lets me.
So, some some much-needed love to the MX-5 absolutely Adrian update with you. Yeah, same old.
Same old infantry still. Did they have solar?
Don't then. I'm surprised.
It hasn't been swallowed into the Earth yet.
It's not worried anyway. You just keep sinking.
Thank you. Don't want to know.
Now I'm gonna drive it again. Something that chance to fix it
yet. That's a problem.
That's right. We're into it.
Yeah, yeah. Been doing other things on the
good old fridge instead. So what's maybe with the Disco?
I made a roof console for cool. Nice.
So it's not much but I like it. Yeah, gives me more light as
well from it. So did you make, did you like
get them in the oven? Just cut it up and I got it.
River console from a Hilux, what it does not fit properly fear at the modified took it, but it'll start every time you turn, you turn the key question. We all have is a turn.
Do you have a bush pig sticker on here?
I'm trying. Not to put stickers on it.
I'll be honest. You see the once a says, the
girl had a negative experience with negative, press down the side. So there was a good time.
I'll get x-rays. That was also that was a good
time that was good time. If it doesn't have nuge Pub on
it, then it's you're not really trying either ha, ha ha.
Is that a rule for be geise? Funny thing is is I have
stickers like on the side planned out or I just haven't had a chance to put them on yet because I know where I want them. So it's gonna be like a link was
a tow from here. Patrol toe from here is there's
always going to be or The sticker if you're reading this, there's a problem. Yeah, yeah.
It's like she don't feel like that's to go to school ya, but ya know that that's it. What?
And just, yeah, nothing more, I can say, very good, very good.
Scotty you looking very, very proper with your with your culture today like a big shot I don't wear the proper shirts - just Paulo, not it's a clip-on, it's a clip-on.
Kind of I haven't done anything over the weekend. No, nothing really planned yet.
Just trying to get on top of some house stuff and working.
And I forgot I had this this model here that I got at school.
Forgot to add that one found that one.
So I'll have to build that one at some point.
Other than that, that's it. Now pretty boring.
Unfortunately, I've been doing other stuff.
Scotty drives 90s camera right now because that's what teachers drive and reliability but we want to move from mr.
Teacher to mr. Principal driving drawing up a
Honda. Yeah.
The badge in is gonna be like Simpsons line.
Baby, what's the point of owning a home?
Very, very good. Very good.
Scotty, moving on to mr. David, Prince updates with you,
I will speaking the aforementioned Honda vehicles actually doing a few of them this weekend.
So the pick the city up and get that a bit of a run on the weekend, that's just got to go off to have a tiny.
It's just annoying me. It's a little bit of couple of
little bubbles in the in the paint, so I think I'll do that.
And then the thing will be mint. Again, copies back on a 1500 and
turn, put choke out, turn the key and it started an idol beautifully. So that's a win.
Just have to work out with a coolants going in that car.
So that is always something always and put, some, I'll put Gaby in one, a good run on the weekend actually went for a drive. Started it since I got back from
overseas. So that it was probably up to
about seven weeks at a set there under its cover.
At least, it was clean. So what if the rain has stopped
last week and got a bit of a loop that I do takes about now or out through East link. And then out through North
Ringwood, to Warren diet and then sort of cutting back across to Springvale road. So it's not quite the nerve, the
milberg ring that the motoring writers do.
But, you know, it's a nice, it's a shorter one.
One, but gives the car a good run.
Nice. Nice booby, booby bit of road,
so, that was very enjoyable. Sorry, new on the zrv at the
dealership today. The first one there had that
just arrived your thoughts, David?
Yeah, very nice. It will for an SUV and there's
be some people that would agree. I'm sure as arathi might have
something to say about the way. The, the grill looks are very
that mentality Levante sort of looking sort of Grill on them quite a bit lower than the CRV, which is good because I can actually watch the roof of my COV.
It's too high. So this might be a bit a bit
down the track sometime. I think they're committing to
that car actually working because it's not as compromised as the CEO of HIV and see are there.
I think they're in run out of the moment.
Current one network the they'll be moving upmarket.
I think it's going to be a bigger car again, so, If you release the Z Robby with four levels of trim straight from day one so it's like we see the girl looks like a bit Darth Vader ish activity fee because it's literally smack in the middle.
So it's essentially before it got too big.
Yeah but more. More wagon like I record it
looks more like a wagon than a sort of SUV, stolen SUV.
Vehicles. Be called an Erv, then if it's
in between the quite correct knows it IV, actually, it was going to be a good question. That good quiz question, but
haven't got around to writing it.
Not a quiz for you but 0 v stands for Jen's Ed recreational vehicle. I found out, would you ask
David? You're not.
Jen said no, I know. It's one that's very much
recreational. Be Our Fate.
Thank you Edmond. I'll remember that.
That's it. See, and you and you guys gave
me he'll for like, saying in all like honesty last week, all sincerity, about he seen a lot of cars, always old, Edward gets away with it. Hey, he's allowed.
He had to go to my with idiot. Many don't worry.
It's very handy to have a lot of people that was good.
Miles. And I was like, well, here also,
we are going to get out there. It's just too hard or not.
I'll just drive, I don't really care, so I don't drink.
That's your then. I reckon somebody else can drive
because you should only have the opportunity.
Get sloshed. They could have been.
Yeah. Now we're going out afterwards,
so I'm like, well I'll just have drinks here.
I don't need to get blood out the winery.
That's fine, but it's nice in that car.
Having wait. The I had three I had eight of
us in it or seven of us or something but it's nice having three across the back. As you just get more weight over
the rear wheels, it's bit more grippy whereas without down and air squats down a pain in the ass.
Which is good for that car. If the total just right.
Yeah. We put all the fat people of the
book, you'll like this story. I went with my our, my friend
Tommy has been on this podcast before up to pick up his Range Rovers, got that 93 Vogue and he's selling it and he had to get a few things done for Roadie.
As you do on a Range Rover, despite it having a roadworthy only maybe, you know, not that long ago maybe a year ago, not even. Yeah.
Anyway, So I picked it up from this place up in kill more up country and I followed him up in his x 5 40 DB e 70 which is still good to drive with a few case on it anyway.
He pulled back onto the freeway or back onto the Hume coming home and we'd been going about half a k and suddenly this giant pit of plastics of flew off and I thought it was just something on the freeway but actually came off his car.
It was the back of the backlink bumper bar, sort of, you know, Corner section. It sort of flown off and and I
recognize, I thought that looks a bit Range.
Rover ish that bit of That's steep.
So I rang him and said, I think it piece of your car as I come towards me. You better go back and get it.
So we looked around and went back and got it.
He get up, bloody Range Rovers. Yeah, that's that's about Norm
for those. So, I did have a giggle of that,
but other than that, no, not much else, just normal day-to-day motoring, nothing exciting.
Lance is getting registered tomorrow.
So I'll drive around in that once it's registered.
Nothing else. Very good Tyrone.
Yeah. So today as you did the day off
work and help work and I headed down to a waste and put an exhaust in the Excel six. So, you know, I already there
and the guy put up on the horse and he was like, what a piece of crap? Get out of here.
He was hammering away at the exhaust and he's like, is this he asked me to question below? You have engine light on, or do
you have any loss of pay or anything like that?
I guess cause I can hear something rattling, new rules and wasn't coming from the and closer to the the engine who's coming more, the back end. And then I thought about it and
I know, I bet it's gonna get changed anyway, so it doesn't matter. Now that's gonna get chocolate
and being so he took it out anyways.
And it was the The last the real muscle.
The muscle one brought it back hand had something in.
It was just something loose or something.
I'm just rattling in there. So he goes, even if you did have
more people experiencing the loss of power, you feel it right at the start at the bottom of the pigs or style, it will be very hot. You know, it'll be it'll be
screaming about you guys. It's not hot at all events and I
drive it for like a good 45 minutes to get to where he is.
Anyways and I told him I just want to change change of ignore system from the cap back on words.
So yeah. All that out.
Chapter read back system in there and it totally goes.
Do you want single single side Jewel Outlet?
They're gonna want double side. Dual Outlet like a name.
Yeah. Because why not?
Because why not. So then, yeah, they know so many
he looked at me and he's like, oh yeah, you guys have got to make my job harder. Okay, yeah, yeah.
So anyways, they mocked it up there just behind the spare wheel stable at the back they just split.
So they induce came in split that and and one went to the right, one to the left. And as usual, the spray will
come. That is The center of the
circle, the stockings like most lawyers is pretty big on the right hand side. So it has are they just came
around on the side and then put a few tips on it and you over to turn it on and no terms would do you feel like it's got feelings?
Got better flow, light feels it feels meteor.
Yeah. Yeah.
That feels heavier, obviously in low speed and then when you, when you reach high speed doesn't doesn't drone when you look outside. Not like when you don't, then
we're good. Now our so glad you're going to
get a headache at the end of it - into the ground, inside the car, there is a obviously, from going from stock to a little bit of noise. There is like a, in here, with a
little bit of a humming, but it's not like a full moon driving, certainly in the back end, but that's like, obviously not music on but apparently, we're going to go and irritable.
Yeah, I'm glad when you are, when you are cruising on above 80 codes, but nodes, it's really good.
And then yeah, coming. And obviously coming down to the
southeast side of constituent good because I got closer to probably, they would just bring it up inside the tunnel as usual. But yeah, that's good.
That was done. What else did I do last week?
I think that was it. I got some real.
Oh, I did some politicking headlight changes.
The LED headlights went in front interior and other top of the real number plate that I think I just want to move it at my place. That's coming in.
I did get an extra. So I fill the screen that I've
put in there. I did get a war room, direct to
the fuse box. I think you should.
Um, having the comes On after after a while.
But I think the issue that I'm having is the earth, I think it's the Earth, it's okay, Ting enough or the Earth's is not a marriage taking too long to get back, but this one's got don't know. This set of wires is got reset.
So you've got your, AC your on handmade in your Earth, cable as well. Where's the other one?
Obviously, it did have to have the other, the other one.
So Let's see when it comes in, plug it in and see if it works and everything. We have to get one up is the
moving mirror and then the Senna Senna had lied about the server.
Interior lights going to get their water.
Sorry I might have missed about. How does that cast sound with a?
Its new exhaust? No, it sounds good.
Yeah, much much. We feel.
It would be lovely if you would be a lot lower.
Yeah, if I done to those, those LPG Falcons that I had that would they would sound the same virtual?
Yeah. Yeah pretty much.
I don't know if you can see but little the to between that went on and went South with the the gas ovens.
They usually throw some her little hot dog for him.
Give it back. Yeah.
On the side of the gas tank is gonna eat gas life.
That's a little TM roof lining cocaine.
That car turret got redone. Yeah, yeah, it'll read Uncle.
They are, they are not going to say, again, sagging roof line, its risks. What I did and the front into
your line. Moment doesn't have a sunglass
holder to this one, blows a hole in it and in the center one.
So they all connected up onto on the one wiring when I run down the right side killer, so it's just an easy, quick worry.
No is now, highly modified is what you're saying.
What was it? It's highly modified that car
now. Yes, it's really.
It's getting better. It's getting there.
I can never purchase it. It's so it's not meant for you.
It would it's not like alumns original gas Falcon that I'm not very rigid. Very, very good.
Well, I came to the king to say at our next time, you're writing something down in my way next week.
Next week on the show, we had a deal.
Everybody to the station. Sounds good updates with me.
I had the fiesta service on Friday.
So dropped it off from Friday morning before I went to work, get a call that it won't be done till Monday because the there was like a bad battery battery. So they're all fixed all that.
For me, picked it up yesterday and yeah, it's been, it's been fine. Even for a rental for the yeah.
I got a Ford Puma which, which David actually selling and then went around the block. I did actually drove really,
really well was very comfortable Road Road.
Well, and yeah, I mean, I did my notes.
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one but you know, if somebody funcomfortable you view a Mustang with them.
Yes, you would know. Wouldn't you want me to stop?
Every photo by wouldn't dare run.
So I so yeah, it looked like it was, it was actually nice to drive. Yeah, it just seems an easy car
to drive the again. I don't like Jewel, clutches.
I never have. And I don't think I ever will,
because I just think they're pointless in a pedestrian car, so, they just never as nice as a normal automatic.
They just, they just just aren't.
So, I'd prefer a normal order for us to get one, but Is coming chooses. So I've got the fiesta back and
it's fine. I then so in the mom took the
accelerate to Runners to get serviced last Thursday or Friday, it's going to go back in this week because the remain starting to get a little bit bad.
So Runners, like I'll just, I'll just do it.
Pull pull, pull the trans out. And oh, yeah, that's what I
forgot to mention when they're coming up on the Hoist, the rear main seal. On mine is liking a girl.
So okay, we need to get that done.
Well, I think that, look at that look like, I'd leave that.
At least I can move. This is true.
This is true. So one day this week and that'll
be be good. Mechanically the rest of the
cast Fect, which is, which is, which is really, really, really good. I think that's virtually it on
my updates. Yeah, that's that's that's it on
my end. So, moving on to tonight's
topic. Now, last week, we discussed
about putting our viewers to slay, this endlessness to sleep by talking about cameras, and Magnus this week to which someone I got some responses on from you guys of like that is, like, arguably your worst idea of all time.
In the listeners or us. Who said that?
It's anybody. You guys mainly.
But anyway, um, I mean, except for, except for mr.
Andre was worth, who'd be, he'd be like, yes, you know, licking his lips at this topic. This is re and sorry.
So what I thought we'd do it's the way we can still Encompass them in the, in the first part of a two-part series of Australian cars through the decades of from the 60s.
So tonight we're doing tonight we're doing 60 to the 90s and then We're going to do from the New Millennium all the way till the end of Aussie Manufacturing in 2017.
We're doing 60 to 90 days now and Cars and Cars.
So mr. Australian cars on what what
Basics or significant? You know what you thinking?
And personally I'm as to why but want to do through decades.
So we're going to go through from the 60s to the 70s to the 80s to the Is and then we'll leave it there until until next week's discussion. But for the sixties all other
schools going to squeeze going to come out.
Well how many judge eth0 phase 3 is like a 71 I think 7170.
Yeah, you know, it's 71 72. So so you can actually 71.
Yeah. So that'll probably take, for
example, like a like a big part of the be part of the city.
She well, I thought we'd start with the 60s because in the 60s Australia, had such a thriving automotive industry.
I like everybody was making things here.
So I thought I would let it to you guys to sort of, my wife's below to start saying, what cars from the sixties.
Would you would you said? Yeah, that was a guy was a good
Aussie made car or you're all very significant in any Ozzy landscape. It was like nothing there.
All trash. What was a very important One
car in these in these giant landscape for for forecasting.
So you can elect Matt and we sort of say yes or no, we have to come up with them, you can come up with them or anything.
Like, I mean, I mean, every word you onazi, make our from the, from the 60s, which is the, which is your me, your original.
Many that that was built here, it was assembled here.
Yes, it was a simple here. Yes, correct.
But again, very influential car and it's, you know, it's got a lot of people moving that could that couldn't, you know, they couldn't afford to get a bigger car and we got a lot of people, I don't know, I don't know roads.
So for me that that's a very, it's a very, you know, very important car and he in history but in terms of cars from the 60s, there were many to choose from.
Has anybody got a start or you're going to start reeling off some names? Well, we also knows about
because I was born in 92, I think Adrienne 1191 judge.
Don't worry. Run that's not music Actually I
don't even ask. That's the problem is that what
when it touched on when he said assembled here, there were stacks of stuff to somebody that you wouldn't even.
You know a lot of even think realize was assembled here but it was really important for manufacturing because the local content of a lot of these cars was really strong, so things like the vinyls, and the tires and glass, and all that sort of stuff. A lot of that was all locally.
Sourced. It had to be a certain amount of
local content. It, you know, to qualify for
that scheme to be assembled from 20%, or 30%, 30%, was a something like that. I think it varied and and the
more local content that was the the more were allowed to be sold or never said that there was some link between that.
That's right. So of course there were
Volkswagens. I mean no reciprocity all
through the 60s. Yeah and copies and Beatles as
well. And as As well as what were they
not tracks in the 1500s. But then also, I mean, a big
day, civil nose and Persians and citrine 016.
At one of my windows was assembled here.
Yeah, Mercedes-Benz the Finney models were assembled here.
I believe. Yeah, yeah, Melbourne somewhere.
But I also symbol that William I ever ramblas stated Ramblers - yeah. Yep.
IMC assembled, a couple of cars. He, the javelins were assembled
here, I think and that the those four-door sedans AMC.
Pacer. No, no, no.
This isn't a simple P, but of course, that Amalgamated into Toyota. Toyota, I am I Australian motor
industry started producing Toyota's and 60s to Port Melbourne, which, you know, Land, Rovers whistling really happy about it. Land Rovers were assembled here
by the Press Metal Corporation in Sydney, somewhere else, that's right in the 60s. Just a quick question on that.
So the whole idea with the assembly here, was there a particular reason that it was just cheap?
I guess to ship the parts that are was the car.
Like then we just have a cheaper labor forces time or what was it has to do. With other thing, we're trying
to get the economy. Good going.
I like, Especially like, after some Wars and stuff, it was really important to, to really kind of boost the economy and everyone wanted to wanted a piece of the pie.
And I think that was a, that was one of the major reasons that a lot of companies were, we're making things here.
And, and if you look, if you look at some videos from and some footage from, like the 60s and 70s, like, there was some stuff I'd never even seen before, I am.
Like, wait, wait, we had those here and then you find out that were built here and we'll put together plus mod.
I should say, which is, which is just pretty.
My uncle back in the day, had a Pontiac prison in.
Car are huge. That actually wasn't a simple
here although I believe some of them were he's was a Canadian built car that canadian-built right-hand drive cars back in the day too. So Was that was actually
Canadian. Cabin had a few Touches for the
Australian Market, that weren't anywhere else in the world sort of thing, obviously, forward and holding.
I mean they did so, well, I mean, took the Falcon duties.
I mean, one of the most significant cars of the 60s was first, xrg T-Rex. I'll do to you.
Then GT goal really iconic car. Now, they built 596 of them
evidently, but and there are only about four and a half thousand left. So, Their value be plenty of
copies of the old XR G. TS.
But I mean, that was this car that started all that muscle car thing here in Australia really? Well, that was the original
stream. Also, car really like it was the
first one to 89 the a correct reading on V8 and you know, the they they kind of they kind of went went on there for went from the Anna and correct me if I'm wrong with the XR.
GT was the one. They took all around the world,
I think they did the the sea. You to something like the
marathon? Yeah, yeah, I did very, very
well. We will indeed.
Yeah. Three finished in the top 10 or
top 12 or something. So yeah, they did very well.
I mean though, it's still toying with performance cars though, in Australia earlier than that the eh holding that came in 63 that was the first one. There was an S4 Homologation
version of that for Bathurst, but some of the early baathist Woody's do. I mean, I think the cars had to
be assembled in Australia for Bathurst early in the day Think, I remember reading that at the Museum, but you had ID 19 separate. Citra citroen's head, simcha of
Iran days. You had all sorts and horse
whinnies whinnies about that. This was such great, great, fun
to watch and did various kinds. That's right.
They were made here and Persia shows.
Yeah, that's really. When you think about it it's
actually quite a lot. Absolutely, I think was just
such a great time for the automotive industry, really?
Like it was just such a cool especially in Australia, I like that. What we did, everything was
really, really cool and massive like respect to all those companies for having a go and say, yeah, let's let's go build some stuff in a strategy and Island millions of miles away from everything else. You know, the other good thing
Matthew with that, is that it wasn't just the Assembly of it was then, obviously, the parts of the servicing.
And, and everyone knew those cars on you, some of the work, did it at one of those facts? You know.
Yeah, my uncle worked there. My brother were killed, and so
they were sort of ingrained in a way that that an import.
It isn't ever ingrained in the local Society I think.
And like my friend Rowan, who's been on this podcast before he said you, you it's funny how in a country town, there was often a deal like they might have been a Renault dealer in some country town and so consequently there are quite a lot of rentals in that catcher. Yeah they just happen to have a
deal of there and it was a lot easier just to go to the local dealer. You know y'all buy one of those
because the dealers in town you know there was an element of that and it's funny. You said, you still go down to
some of those places in this. It's sort of remnants of these
cars that were sold locally there, which is, which is pretty cool. Because like, I mean, we've had
this discussion before, I'd like a lot of like, you know, a lot of country towns like there is still like this old barn, find like Renault sixteens and all and maybe maybe not close to what you were saying. Like you got that, that was from
the Canberra car originally but it wasn't like, The big cities like they did go no. Now, they were often sort of
Mercedes dealers Persia dealers, Renault dealers and they would have been Chrysler. And, you know, I'm the things
that that were, yeah, Country Town had one e.
And then the companies that morphed into producing cars just for Australia or that only were made in Australia, things like the Morris 1500 Nomad, that was Australian own Market.
Only they also, I think the 60s saw the Kimberley and Tasman, which were The Heirs, The BMC answer to the king's words, in the Falcons of the moment with a East-West landed.
V6 in the front, they we weren't great like six straight six.
He's a very soon. No sorry.
Sorry riddles these Swit. Yeah it's quest for the
strikers. That's not yes yes yes yes yes.
I will be fascinating from the point of view.
I mean, Michael was small then you know and and to actually we're all the engineering development and the cost and the like into producing yellow car that's getting it smaller and smaller slice of the sales pie, sort of thing, that was a real vote of confidence in the economy.
I think. Okay.
Well that's the 60s what we got? Next.
Seven is there? Well let's let's do some
significant cars from the 60s. So like David.
You said the exiled GT, you know the original Falcon GT.
Got a Of pedigree with that car. Its chairman r0h came and I
wrote yellow in the car. They're, they're pretty car.
They're actually a really pretty girl like that.
They're not as big as you think. They are actually quite a petite
car. If you like when you when you
see them in real life is it Menara or is it Manera know when our men, all right? Who's is actually a Camaro?
That's very kind. And the word Roi means it's an
Aboriginal word or something for wind, isn't it manaro, think?
Sorry, I've got gas. It's that but it might actually
be mineiro. I regionally, I think this the
original word might have been Monaro.
The the ad for the car was manaro by holding alt to drive you. Wild is the is the catchphrase.
So they yeah that I mean it's They're gorgeous car.
I actually really like those cars.
I think I just want to see one of my older, that's a cool car, you know, like it's with a 308. Let's break this game show Dana.
You getting earlier and self. Okay, You XM Excel Excel Excel.
Yeah yeah, yeah. I'm feeling and that's a real
Affinity. So so, so this one's from the
60s. Moving on to the 70-some is when
this one Australian modern motoring really got going with like are in terms of, you know, getting on the map and Scotty alluded to a last week. The laundry.
That's what ya do th G GH 0 which which, which took on the world and you know, was extremely successful at Bathurst. Extremely successful race car in
general and it was the fastest four-door sedan first four passenger car in the world. It was it had held that record
which is which is unbelievable feat and people reveal that calf for their reason like you stories and my uncle told me a story like he's main had a xw Fairmont with a with a with a 351 in it. Anyway, he's best mate.
Used to have a genuine do thi face.
Is back back in the early 80s. Anyway, they used to they used
to race that rash raced in a Backstreet, you know, in a lot of back feel like I like, I like open road is in Mexico along the long time ago and he's like the gtha would just leave him like miles behind like like a job. Like you just seem go over a
distance and be gone. But it's funny though because
the engine that was in, that car was supposed to be a race engine and there weren't really made for like, you know, No, for strippers kind of Street use, they were they'll really over you know over the top and it didn't really last long and then forward put a foot put another engine in it and it just was never as good. But he's like, he's like he's
like we you believe the hype in those age because they were a ridiculously powerful car. Yeah.
So under figuring them with the powers weren't they, supposedly?
They did, they said I made to 20 kilo, but they really made realistically closer to 80, which is huge numbers for back then like this. Back.
Then that's a lot. That's insane.
However, like then there's three on consoles and the words girls proceed? Yeah, yeah.
Would be, I suppose, yeah. The lowest one is 222.
Must be something wrong with. It's probably a replica.
Tell they replicate the highest one is 579.
So it's interesting. I just find that bizarre given
the limited market that car has. I mean no one outside of the
right nose. One of these particular, you
know, it's not like spinning 570,000 on a old 911 or her primary has its it just just defies understanding my do, if the most expensive ones. 575. I mean that the mate come off
them a bit because they were both still million dollars further. We know that someone bought an
original one for that. Eight hundred thousand dollar
Mark. Yeah.
Changing hands for about that. But I'm talking about.
He was the top selling holding of all time, pretty sure.
That's pretty sure. You're right.
Yeah, model model wise. Yes, we had nature to brand-new
and 73 LNG. 536 car now. David.
Where is it? Yeah, hard tonight.
That's so many different models as well.
Which is why I think it's so iconic by you start going through and choose would everybody's Lee had a Kingswood know. We, we are two nails.
Like, did my dad had one? The people who actually
one of the best stories from my dad.
And mom, who is that boy by the statesman's mhx statement that article priests monks who had a DeVille.
Hmm. And they'll both the VHC 308, I
believe they had in them. And in Mexico, the the driving
side by side and when they could look at this beta like, oh, is that a bit too fast for that? I have normal straight road so
that the side down a bit, but it's just stories like that.
Yeah, it's the Holden's. Can I just say, I think the best
car from the 70s, like, little bits tennis, the coolest Australian kite ever is the same man.
I'm like, it is the coolest Australian car ever.
And it's it's just it's hard to deny how cool.
The Sandman is like I want to know like I want to wanted to look at happen but I really would have been awesome to meet the guy who created the same and just go up to me that what went through your head? Like, what made you say yes to
do this? Well I just I just think that
that car is so iconic, it personifies everything Australian Beach culture, you know, you surfing your you know, like what Close my eyes and picture of Sandman I picture.
You know, I like, I mean, 21 Top, Chef not top mid 20s, dude.
Long competition covering the real long blond hair.
You know, just wearing, you know, wearing shorts and be like, yeah, man, like you, and you just just, just, just, just partying all day. That that for me is like the
coolest car Australia's of a maid.
I have to say, like right either up on par with that, or like, just underneath, that would be the HQ me.
An hour, I do like HTML. Like, just you, you look at,
like the typical 70s I'm going to say Bargain.
But I mean, person of that era that yeah, that had that little bit of money, though, young, they wanted something fast that they'd go out and get them an hour that 3357 and kind of thing, and just the amount of fun, you smell that I have with that as well. But like, the cool thing about a
salmon there are like, you know, they were They were kind of like, and they still are a Transit, a lot, like, you know, the Ford and Chrysler versions never never took off, as well as a CM because the same, I just had that instant man's ass and I said, it's just a head that that instant cool factor, which, which just handled it yet. Create this isn't just about of
mine and it's really, really a powerful symbol of Australia Anna and I hate using that Australian a word but it is it's, you know, any whatever. And someone everyone tells you
all the best as you car ever. I like well, it's the pending
because As for me, the stand man would be up there because it's just so iconic. And it's and personifies
everything about Australian culture.
And I would have loved to have to have to have been around when they were new and and, and and, you know, just just witnessed we all. Could you give it all crazy
colors and and all the cars and crazy color is that is true.
Also in the one time, it's all right.
Yea, though, the one thing is, it isn't like Holden's, I'd say.
From what I know. Like, they brought him out
before the Fords did, but yeah, you look at the Utes and it's, you don't hear of like that h-series you.
It's tape series of one ton of. That's what everyone says here.
It's the one time I went online. Yeah, II.
Find that car. Really cool.
And, and my other pick is the is like a VJ charger from 74 like that, like that. Like that for me is when you
want to say, let's go D. I was about to put in the chat
that I was going to write a charger.
Hm, first I'd campaign ever. It's for you.
Let's put that in the chat to to bring it up because yeah I like the felony charges. Hell yeah but I recently got to
drive one. Really?
Yeah which was Vijay. It's the to do one.
The mean there was supposed to drive one of those all the original car 318 V8. Yeah.
Bierko Was it anything small block from it?
Rightly although laughing but it was the quickest in the world but it's just a presence of that had as well.
Beautiful, beautiful car. Oh, I really like those.
I think out of out of that era, you know, you know that the coops the the, you know, the Holding Group, the Ford Coupe and the cries. Oh keep workin for me.
If I had to pick one, I kind of get the charger these days like and it's a hard decision. But for me, I After being in my
friends, charger who'd been on the show.
I go it's I mean I think you went in as well.
Scotty. It's just yeah, it's undeniably
cool. Like it's yeah and and the fact
that they stuck with a straight-6 they went, they were differently, they had a 65. Who's 65?
Yeah. And they went racing with triple
Weber's and it there's triple Weber 6.
That's just what this is going to be giving they're giving the ship's kiss. Yeah, the sound of that is just
phenomenal. They sound, they sound really
good. And yeah, just just a really,
really cool car like, like, for me out of like the 70s.
If you have to make my name, the most iconic cars, it's the the ho the, the Sandman, and, and a charger, you know?
Like it for me of those are those are my what my personal preferences. But what about you guys from the
seventies? What would you, what would your
pics be? I want to give it a shout out
for the L HL x 2 runs. As.
Oh yeah, I mean the original HP. Tarana was basically rebadged
Vauxhall Viva and the LCL Jays were, you know, not a great car.
Well, a carpet. Now it's skinny and they were
not very well engineered that the lodge near Lakes were important to us. Go and doing it themselves or
we'll all the way and first carry the world to come factory with a force. So 8 cylinder engine was with
pretty Unforgettable and then they rebranded the forward into the in the Alexa range into the Sunbird, which was the first car that old man gave radio tuned suspension to interestingly.
I don't quite know why they disagree that one out.
Be the car that actually went around corners first.
But anyway, but then they hatch. I've always loved to run a
hatches. I just thought they were the
really really cool and of course they Did so well at batters for so many years and became pretty iconic in the hands of mr.
Brock was that the actually won? No.
No, the dad will. The a9x was the one.
Well the xc1. Yes he did re sexy ones at
Bathurst and then he moved into the a9x hatch.
That's right. Yeah you know unfortunately
don't know my trainers that well yeah it is smaller than the Kings would just think that I'm not Yes, I saw you.
They were there and they're very collectible now to, I mean, like all those, you know, Sydney, muscle cars are incredibly.
They're worth a lot of money, but the design was, you know, I was good. The interior design was nice,
that the build quality wasn't great.
You guys are all probably too young.
To remember the case of Azaria Chamberlain at Ayers Rock where they're Dingo. Took her baby.
Yep. And dash.
Very famously in the investigation into that day, out of the conviction of Lindy Chamberlain, was based on the blood spray, under the dashboard of the car and on further analysis, some years later it was proven to be really badly.
Applied body did so sadly. She was actually, that was one
of the things that put her in jail for a long time, and she's no longer in child, obviously, because then can actually.
But yeah, so, One day ended Australian, folklore that way to sadly but I think there are good I mean are good sized that color. Every time I see when they're
just like they're a good little size and especially with the with the Arches again that the flayed archers and then we'll do the ball time flies are decide panamania.
Say he was the first car in the world to come out with a rocket.
Bunny kid before rocket bunny disease.
Don't know. Sorry it was the first car to
come out with a factory rocker but even here.
Yeah, no, I agree with that. It's a very cool car and the
guys to work with, his uncle, had an, a 9 x and it got stolen and he was never the same after he was.
I don't know. I think I don't know if you
remember. Scotty muddy.
How many, many be at Target there was it was his uncle's car and and He's done. Apparently, his uncle was never
the same, man. He was a shallow.
It was a shell of his himself for, he would be.
Yeah, something like that. It's going to enjoy it for what?
It was worth Scotty. He's just like reminiscing right
now. I'm just like, yep, I feel that
pain. I know what what else goes with?
What else? Some other customers, 70s.
That all your cards for peace? 76 70s.
Yes, absolutely was. And I think that is a very, very
important car because yeah, yeah, Rob has gone to me.
Rock has gone to me, is these definitely he's definitely been in my ear. No, it's for all accounts.
It was a complete failure but for the for the most part, when they got it right, there were actually people sweat.
Why? I'm like they people say they
were a cracking car and Robin said it was the syllabus carries ever had. So that's a, that's a huge, huge
Accolade for God's Own many, many cars, whenever I think of P 76ers, think of a mate who was in the trade back when they were new and he hated them with a passion, he just Dreadful things and he can remember the new cars coming into stock and the PD manager came to me one day and say that that cave delivery driver that p76 he said there's a bit of a problem with it said what he said? What is this?
Super or an executive though. The different trim levels and
it's a super he said well that's what it says.
On the left hand side on the right hand side is says, executive had obviously gone down the line, and the thing was it wasn't just a badge, it was like the the true, the trim lines, and the wheel Arch molds, and all that sort of thing, different on one side to the other side.
So yeah. So that, you know, the quality
wasn't brilliant on a lot of them in there and a lot of people say that that was Once at the end of the p76, it was the quality. You know, if that was on purpose
like that. That's gross.
Yeah. Well you know you probably would
have to notice that beforehand. You say you say that as I'd read
safely walk fully around you say that at the dealership with like, you know, a couple seeds different color inside the car, like it like half the car would be different inside.
Yeah, I think so. It's not it's not just the old
British Leyland, it's it's being done.
We talked about this before where there there was a, there's two cases that come to mind when I robbed just joined.
Sydney, you're gonna Rob there was a BMW that arrived at margrave head office. That had half the car down the
middle painted metallic black and the other half solid black.
So that was an interesting one that was before my time I'm in my boss. Just buy me about that back in
the day and there was another one that had a complete year, black interior black leather. But one of the seats was Brown
in the and so we all scratch their heads and you know and she said how the hell does that make it all the way to Australia with a brown seat? In it?
Like that's just ridiculous. But my take on that was well,
they would have just not wanted to stop the production line because the part they needed wasn't there.
So, rather than clogged up the whole thing and have this car in limbo for squeaks that it's easier to Chuck and Other seed in it that they did have let it get to where it needs to go and then they'll send out the part and, you know, just do it under under warranty and make a claim on the do it.
But soon or blue normally what they do is if because obviously the parts come in line, they're supposed to come in line with the car, you know. So it's a if the part does come
and it's the wrong color or something like that because I've experienced it. When I was on one of that
experience a turd are they? It's the bumper car than the
bumper, the different colors of the body.
They just Chuck it on there. But hey kids.
Rectified before, like a go through everything.
And then at the end that we can get to put aside, it gets Rectify them and the actual color bumper goes on before.
It actually then gets shipped out.
But yeah, it's hope you should get out too because it goes through a full gofer for inspection stage.
Obviously, at the end you have to make sure that obviously everything's fine. But yeah, for I don't know if
they had at that time, if they had it if they had it.
I mean this isn't the mid-2000s like early to mid-2000s.
So it's not that long ago. Jay.
Yeah, I don't know what the ultimate reasons were but that they were two that came to mind, but yeah, you'd get get get some weird stuff. Sometimes the parts are
assembled because I said they want to see the print on New Year's. How do you get the paint?
You know, yeah, look at how does it?
That's a real question. Yeah, not so much.
That's something I think. Is the dip, the separate sides
of the car must have gotten painted, you know, indepent by two different robots or something.
And obviously, one of them had Sapphire black, and one of them had jet black. Well, I reckon the guy in the
quality guy who's just like that.
Let's see where this goes. I got to see if they notice.
They probably said oh, it's gone astray by their backwards anyway, so they have to go on the floor.
Very good. Well, that's okay.
Before we get to the 80s, He's me, mate, Californian best Millie more Californian, best you've had any first 80s.
Now we at well, well so before we get into the 80s there was a car in the late 70s that really changed the landscape.
David prints, are you mentioning the mini-vac?
California? Again, the Holden Commodore, I'm
guessing you're thinking about it would be like the Holden Commodore, which was a, which was a engine in you need for Australia. Opel rekord, which which now was
born, truly, in Australian folklore, as being, you know, one of the most iconic Australian cars ever.
So that happened in, what the 79 late 79 late, they can only 70, okay? So late 78 and then also
whenever 78 and then basically into into the 80s we went with some some interesting cars. Now I know ages going to say the
best holding that came out from that era was the BL because I had a missing. Unit.
So it's an island in a grants but again, yeah.
Hey one is where Cola the bay they want?
That's it in the story. Uncle the rock or other real
cowboy cop. Forget about that one.
So so the 80s was an interesting camera, phone recording my baby but then they never made me not sorry.
So the 80s was an interesting time because it's the one Cars started to really kind of feel like your modern car.
Like they are today are I think like my I can step into my 80s cars and I feel like I'm still driving like something quite modern even though they're very old yeah, everything ends the 88. Yep.
So that's even more iconic. Why for being a lawn ornament
for like, for bad decisions and bad life decisions?
Ozzy burn out there. Well, they are, they are
actually huh. So what about March 1981?
It's a very, very good time. I see.
Hold on laser crazy. Amazing, absolutely.
So, what was the date of the escort?
Real rear drive into the now? Wonderful, and amazing.
The Amazo the Ford laser that's such a significant car for not only for before Australia, because it was the first time like, like I do. I remember watching interviews
and stuff at our about this Ford Engineers were saying it was just it blew them. Mind how the Japanese were
creating cars and, and it made them recess the way they were doing everything like instead of flat door cards with things bolted, onto the side of the door handles those, same the Japanese making molds, and doing all sorts of things for.
So then they started to do that in there in like especially like in Falcons later later on. But the laser was that card and
and to a lesser extent the the what's it called, the the 626 /, Telstra that you know, that those were the cars out there really kind of Made for take notice and one camera to you.
About Ford really, really used was the, was the Mazda 929.
Like they, they used to Benchmark that car because the car was like, I had like push buttons and, and like, it better with like they had like like are behind them and they it blew him away and Iceland hands on the dash, oscillating fans on the dash. Absolutely, which is, which is
which is stuff that like, you know, that they started to implement in the in the in the late 80s with with you like a few more gears and and then you know, feelings and And and stuff like that. So really, really it like, it
was really kind of the period for the Japanese side of the automotive industry. To really kind of say, all
right, we've done, we've done, making fun.
Economy car will know basic economy, cause we're going to fun economy cars, but fun cars in general, and we're going to use technology to put everyone to the sword.
And they did see the key were. There, you kept this economy
cars, right? Yeah, exactly.
Imagine being Australian like, you know, dating stuff and pictures. Expensive.
You're like, oh my God, I got a box.
This is true, this is strong. You know, any gas doesn't cover,
it doesn't matter. 40 cents later.
You know, and he draws up the sexual leaders.
Well, I mean there's a reason why is because yeah.
Alyssa tomislav. That true leaders.
This is true. I don't know.
But we're correct me if I'm wrong, but where the Exeter MO is made here? They were right?
Or they were eating together was is it okay okay.
Yes. It was a five doorbells based on
door car which was locally assembled by the Nea, but the x is still willful important. The what the 880, again, the
Jones was because they now bring it to listen because when that, when the, when the, when the Japanese really really came on, on came on strong, especially here in Australia, because it is a few cups of water about the mention, which are really, really important in Scotty owns one of them and it's, it's the r31 skyline. Yeah.
Was a very, very important car like we designed and I think we do. Place a sell the skyline wagon
here like that. That was pretty damn cool in
car. So you get, you get the 31
Skyline which which I mean sort of you voted for a bit now like you know in comparison to like the Japanese skeins of yarn is is this still the same kind of family, cohesion there like you see like with the car or was it a little bit different?
Looks wise on the outsides? Pretty much the same but there's
differences when it comes to the suspension.
The the engine to use different interior, the seats are different, so they had a few different 31's.
Like the passage that was kind of the Louis back with all your red and nice interior and things like that.
So a lot of people want that they had this whole Stone Town, taillights, that didn't they? Yeah, the taillights.
And that's all look the same. So they pretty much look the
same on the outside, but your insides little bit different engines. Different suspensions different.
Yes, seats, a changed, the Clusters are So you can't grab a Japanese instrument cluster and Chuck it into your Aussie one, that won't work. Yeah, I'm sure there's other
some bits and pieces but yeah it would change the fair bit between the two but they still they still pretty much look the same on the outside. It's interesting because the the
local content rules were still really strong and applying.
So when you say they differed from the local car was actually the local car different from Um from the Japanese car, really?
Because it had to you know, I had to be typical to make those those differences here. Good thing was all those locally
assembled, Japanese cars, and portents Holmes to all the in my industry, all the trim was locally made.
So I mean, all the drift rooms were different, patterned fabrics and the like, were all still available locally because they're all made locally didn't have to be poor.
Some people had Lounge Suites in the same fabric as a preeminent role which it's just interesting to see that we had that you know, like you could just you could just do.
You could do that which we can't do neon for unfortunately.
Now getting to the the two cars that really started this topic, which we, which we going to, is the the Toyota Camry, which we started. We started making here in.
I think was 86 Six when we start making them here and then the Mitsubishi, Magna the magnetron. There's been great.
David wasn't a Camry. 97, maybe seven.
Okay. Yeah, I was, I did a bunting.
I was a year off. Yeah.
Yeah. And when it happened, I was
there. You were, there you were there.
So two very important cars were showing, you know, because I considering like the skyline and all those other companies kind of dying off at this point Toyota and Mitsubishi just kept going and we're taking it up with With relatively good sales and talmud only Twitter's a big thinker in the country but, you know, for for what they were though, you know, burning above their average and they were, they were, you know, for the most part they were, they were more refined they do Dr. They
drove really, really well. You know, in a lot of ways more
reliable as well, because, you know, Toyota and Mitsubishi kind of engineered to cars quite well.
So, it was interesting to see that the 80s for me was probably one of them was like Peak Australian times because that the, that we Really came on strong, then the 60s was great for the, for the muscle car era. The 70s was just would just
really, really cool. And then you get to the 80s and
the 80s was like, was like, okay now technology is coming now.
And now, you know, anything with the word turbo on, it was super instantly way, cooler. So so yeah, I think the 80s was
a very important time, but if you have to pick something up till the most iconic cars from that era from the 80s, which would be the ones. And why.
So I'm going to say Obviously, Magna Camry and I'm going to say the skull and I think, you know, I think the 31 was a very important car for Australian. Edward, yeah, Toyota turaga in
Toronto, not assembled locally but you know anyway, I'm sorry.
But it was a clinic for the idea.
Sir. I got 323 Mazda 323 had one of
those 1983. It was yeah, that will do which
is afford laser but yes and Karen not assembled locally though. Master.
So it's really likely in a Shameless little crop, it across remote. Cross-promotion just while we
were on lasers through two threes on another podcast that it night had some involvement in.
We actually interviewed a design up from forward, back in the day and it was really interesting getting his take on being presented with this car and they had the, they were allowed to redesign the hang on panels. Basically, so that the front
panels on the rear panels and the grill and the light It's and that sort of thing to differentiate it, but yeah, with listen, if you his name is John Burke and it was a good podcast, they'll have to be, I think, probably my favorite.
Well, personally, my favorite episode of that because like, hit this his knowledge and like of like that, like he was there, you know, he was, he was there and getting to witness like, you know, there's design decisions. And and and, you know, and what
he was told to do was just was just incredible.
So, definitely, definitely worth Elizabeth could plug.
Fallout will put a link to that episode.
I'll put a link to that episode. I was just going to say me and
combat all very big home at all. Basically, I'd say that they're
iconic because that's when holding started building their own engines, the Bible readers will know.
I mean, the father had been around for a long time, but in terms of like an injected version and, you know, like the the updated version. Yeah.
When they started yeah, probably producing our all that kind of stuff. That's Windows Motors.
We're coming out. Even though I think was the Vos,
they had them as well. We also have five liter car.
Be honest. I've laid a car be.
Yeah. Unless there was a group, a
walking tour, which which had the which had a, which I do injected for injected by later. It's not like I kind of time.
Absolutely. I like like the, I mean that and
it's also not going engine. The, the old iron line.
But, yeah, I the v in particular, is a very important car for Holden to, because it was the first time they went Khanna from the I guess that original that original architecture of the first Common.
All right, right there because like because that they was like a complete ground up, kind of car.
That's right. That's right.
Still based on the German car. Yep.
But again re-engineered for Australia.
Don't think you can talk about the 80s, particularly the late 80s without mentioning the button plan to of course which was the lips are all the model sharing going on.
And so you ended up with, you know, try to cameras With came holding a polos and all sides, became holding Astros.
And I think the saddest ones were the Commodores that became Toyota alexinnz. You know that wasn't locally
produced yet. It was still part of the same
plan, they had to share and the the XF Falcon uh that became nice and easy. Same, as, you know, the hq's, I
think it was the panel Vans. And the sedan's came out in
Japan, is the most arrupe sir. So that was actually the HJ
Prim, was that rope a sir? Yep, the Deadly Six?
Yeah, yeah, I'll settle with the 12, a rotary engine and wouldn't pull the skin off her eyes cuspid, it would have been horrendous lie, sleep with that have been to say that with a 13 litre turbo, and So if you have to list everybody, he's got at least one from the 80s, what would it be?
Significant camera once we discuss significant and for all the weed raisins, or have to be the magnet linked to take a Japanese spec car, just a little.
So Ozzy, just decide to slice it down the middle.
Make it better. And go at the Magna go, the
Magna and both sides will drive. Well, they were front wheel
drive so they see a bunch of extended so far, right?
They couldn't we re-engineered the entire chassis over it.
We would drive that would have sold a ton.
More of them, of course, Scotty, if you on board with 3112 over 31 and have to go for the vl2. After bt1, Tyrone pick one from
the 80s, As much as I don't want to say.
Yeah yeah nowadays like to see if you can find one, that's not realistic. It's good news and you paid a
lot of money. You can hold on for a Wings.
Actually you can hold on did you say the yellow BC one that's for sale, they sold in 2022 and they had been placed Change on it, and it's not for sale again. For double the money.
We just had be T1 and I like they have changed the thin plates which is disgusting. I'm gonna, I'm gonna go to the
are pretty one because it was a nice Japanese sports car.
You have the time. Definitely for that one and
you've got caught and grown but doesn't it became very much a player's drift toy. Hmm.
Everyone is well, two discs, and if we had funny, especially the wagons and brakes and wet weather, and now, it's kind of had that researchers of bless. You want to get them as
unmolested as possible or Theon. Listen to kind of bring them
back to whose stock OEM +: +. Yeah.
So like what Scott is doing so you can respect the car again and kind of enjoy. So, it's kind of, it's called
was like bottom point. It's got a point, you know,
being made being people as toy and they only come back up to be just a nice respectable. Also car.
I was going to say the the 90s for tonight, but I think you might keep that for next week, we're going to run out of time.
We'll get into getting to the quiz which Scotty has lovely as prepared for us now. That's so.
But I want to say, thank really good chat so far, guys.
Like we really covered some, you know, some some crackers over the over the journey. And I think from the 90s
onwards, it gets I think as you can manage.
String, obviously it was on its way to its demise happening in the 2010s happen next week. Oh, they are all right but we
will, we will continue with that next week.
Now let's get into the car, Quiznos goodies prepared us a lovely car quiz. Now I'm still getting notepad
ready so I can put the names in and do the thank you very much get that ready these cryptic or they's?
Non cryptic non cryptic I've gone for the three points 2 points 1 point for each question.
No. So same as the one that I did
last time. All right, with that again, you
have a go for 3 points but if you get that wrong then you're out for the two-point question. You have to wait for one point
to come back in unless everyone takes a guess, which one?
I think well then yeah obviously yeah.
All right, let's do it. That's the movies in there and
just some some cars too. To some car models for you to
think about and see what you think.
They might be question. Number 143 points.
I started my life in Japan in 1957 David.
Try to Corona not Toyota Corona Adrian.
Adrian prolong the Joker. Allah.
No, damn it across his 60s Matthew?
Oh you don't want to take out for three points.
Go for it. The prince Skyline.
Yeah, I'll give it to you. Yeah and it's the skyline looks
like correct. I didn't get it.
Yeah, absolutely. So I'm going to be I'm into my
13th generation and then for one point, I was going to say their codes. They started with an S or C.
Then they went to ours and now V, the no here too quick.
All right. I was like 50/50 Sr and I knew
this guy on the nameplate was in the 50s but I wasn't sure what years are gone. I'll just have a punt.
It was the skyline sport was the first one.
Wasn't it the big to-do? Yeah, they look really cool.
Yeah, yeah, cool car. All right, and we're going to
jump into for three points. I came out in 2006 and I wasn't
just made for kids. Ed cars.
Oh yeah. Now that I know.
Well, let me point up know, I feel it's a bullshit question though. It was made for kids.
It wasn't just made for kids. I'm fixing fantastic.
They make it fun. Scott Scott Scott.
Do I get three points? Yeah, I don't think about it was
with us and Piston Cup. Make them move is for adults, I
even say it. So then when you take your kids,
they're the adults enjoy it. Also, I love Toy Story, right?
Oyster is to thought those words killer like it's there were some of my favorite movies. So oh yeah, definitely okay,
question number 3, going back into cars.
So, for three points, I'm a European Vehicle that came out in 1986 with a 4-cylinder. Mmm was released in Australia,
just out of curiosity. I don't think so.
No, well forget it. You just the two pointer to put
up checkpoints. I am currently in my 6th
generation and have won awards from my engine such Motors in the past. Hmm.
What would you 86? Yes.
Hey man, I see also on the 86 European European wasn't sold in Australia. Its in its sixth generation Is
it still not sold in Australia or is it?
So let's write it and he's right on again.
Not right now. Good God's good guess run a rope
enough, so it's just throwing his fight across the room.
Started quite upset about that. I'm so sorry, any guesses
General show you for the 1.0. Not the one.
Wonderful. One point.
One point. Yeah, I'm quite I come from BMW.
Patreon. Is it a mini?
No chase. I feel like I've got this
question wrong or something. Now Matthew Mackey, it wouldn't
be the sort of the 3 Series will know it.
It's this series. Not six years.
We've had four cylinders. Oh yeah, forgot three World
Series. No.
What are you doing? Scotty, you said comes from BMW.
Hmm, so it's not the BMW. Now I'm gonna and make it.
No, but sell its sixth generation.
Well, the only one in 1986 old BMW 3 Series.
A six series a 7 Series. I've serious.
Yeah. And that was it. 3 5 6 & 7.
Yeah, but I should have worded it a bit better.
Oh, here we go with the series. Allen called his name - 190
selling stolen tools only, he said g.
Oo to know that was quality Securities.
I got everything pretty specific.
I'm calling shenanigans Alum, it's good or not.
You need to explain yourself and you better have a damn good answer. So you can't getting stuck on
the series. Not The I guess.
Hmm. What is it Alpena or some shit?
No, no, no. It's still coming.
That's sounds more like it. I know it is your honor,
Matthew, Matthew. Matthew Matthew, Matthew Matthew
They're into the sixth generation of the entry.
That is true. That is true.
Some of the engines have won awards over the years.
He's not listening. Yep, very good.
Well, I'm trying to get you points here.
You weren't specific enough. You said three series same
spring. Do we know her?
Anyway, it's not should be bad question for 43 points.
I came out in the in 1990 with two generations from Japan, Matthew Matthew or two generations 1990.
NSX. Yeah.
Now it know. What do you mean?
Two generations. The big two generations of
intersex. There has been
Which we don't understand that we get directions in 1990.
That's what I'd like I came out in 1999 but I said, no, no, yeah. That's exactly what he said.
I totally realized the score, guys.
It's Syd. You know, I'm talking about.
I got a Bonus question on that. Okay, what does NSX stand for
Matthew? David?
David? That was first news Sports
Experience. Our mental all now that how many
points is that worth? Is that one?
Okay, just the one. This is the one.
Just the one that's just a bonus Point.
Let's go check turn David want a piece Edward three myself on six. Everybody else you get to school
you know question 5 with jumping back into a movie.
This movie, 43 points came out in 1998 and starred.
Sean Bean. The car chase yours.
What is it? What is it?
Vernon got it. Yes.
I was going to bring in the actor, Robert De Niro, and yeah, yeah, your stuff. And that might give it away.
But, you know, I don't watch movies pre 1999.
You can't tell me, you don't know who Robert De Niro is.
I know who Robert De Niro's, but I never watched a movie does help. If you haven't seen Ryan and you
probably quite enjoy, it is a good for you Nigerian, watch it.
Back in the arcade. Add, it's a good film.
Watch it? You like no.
Great flick grateful, E34 M5. That gets its asked hammered.
Yeah. What's your he's listening?
I'm not a DS 8. That gets habit and there's a
Mercedes 450SL 6.9 that has a lot of smoke.
Coming off the tires. Yeah, the best kind of movie
that's ever come out. Is the original taxi films.
Don't care what anybody said. The French one, the French one.
There's such a good film and then they They got they got what's called was a 500? He's in that movie as well.
They're really cool continue. This is 6.
Here we go. Another car already give you a
hint. Didn't come out here.
Three points. I'm American and came out in 66
and so far have gone through seven generation few Adrian.
Damn it. Matthew you're gonna say, come
our oesn't know it's not the Camaro.
It a I sleep with the Ford Mustang not Mustang.
Oh no Adrian. Get on
that until the 11.0. Are we jump into two points?
Yep. Okay the two points I was
positioned as a more expensive and luxurious kupe or Coupe aiming at the market segment represented by the Oldsmobile Toronado and the Ford Thunderbird Market.
Oh, David. David.
That's six Generations Buick Riviera no, Adrian.
Adrian was the Chevelle, no. I can't answer because I've
guessed wrong. I guess the ready Yuma?
No, no. But you were going to get my
thing. So you.
So anybody else gonna answer Or last spring on 1.0 1.0.
This is pretty much going to give it away.
So, let's see who can say it first.
I got my ears switched on, so I could hear, I'm famous in the movie Bullitt and a few Matthew, Matthew, Matthew, Matthew, Matthew. It's a charger.
Yes, Dodge Charger, charge. Yes, a charge of see, I didn't
know. It was aimed positioning in a
more expensive and luxurious Cooper.
And I mean up those because they the quite long U-joints.
Yeah, they would be preserved very much so yeah.
Very long. You know.
It's got nothing to do with the Australian charge you don't use?
Yeah. Well apart from the motors did
just because I was doing a podcast about Australian cows at the moment isn't aware of that. So I did I make a mistake.
Okay. What are we up to?
What question? Right.
That's another seven of them. The three points.
I first came out with my first car in 66.
What am I called? Wasn't that the first person at
the first point, 66 whilst I'm here.
The question is, are we on your question?
It's a new question, your question.
Hang on question. I came out and 6630.
Those, I came, I came out here with my first car in 60cm.
It was 9/11. No, hmm.
All right. All right, Murr.
Pardon Amira, Camaro. No.
Are we looking for a manufacturer, Scotty Baldwin wrote a car. We're looking at the name of
this car go. You said it sound like you meant
manufacturer. Yeah, that's what I thought.
You meant those poor children. That's all I'm saying.
Probably makes Sense. Like I'm kind of giving you a
hint but not in the way I've worded this kind of parent-teacher interviews. It's true.
It's your guy being sent away three points.
I completely agree with you. Matthew.
That's Q. Wouldn't be Lamborghinis.
First car. The what's it called?
Its called so? So because the mural is like
there was a mirror. Okay, well, they'll take it,
yes, there was a camera at 66 With my first car.
Yeah that is true. Just practice.
Your spotter was not. Do you spend was bit later but
later they have like a grand tour kind of car first and then they then they the mirror. The mirror was like what?
Yeah, I think I can. We come with you?
all I know is that the best Lamborghini that ever came out was that I am oo to in the story, The Rim, the rainbow labor, let's move to question number 8, And yes, this did come out here in Australia for three points.
I came out in 1992 from Japan, and have always had a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, Ed it Mitsubishi Galant.
No, sorry, what a drag. It's a tease.
Can I say it's a 180sx, bro? It is not fair and so it came
out in 92 as oil and it's always had a 4-cylinder turbo.
Hmm. Hmm.
You feel sort of It kind of narrows it down but not at the same time. That's the whole point of a
three-point question. Matthew, Matthew, the original
Rex come in at 92, so, I'm going to say, WRX, no.
Okay, I know it's yeah. Okay.
Anyone else want to Echo? What?
For two points? I'm so hungry.
Sorry I can't see the video. Sorry I can kill you the way up
on my screen froze so I can't see it, Lance River.
Yeah it is possibly the truth. Thank you Maddie.
Yeah. I'm not doing any more arguments
of this community. I can't pick on Maddie.
It's true, it's true. Yeah, I'm gonna try to pick on
you but I can't because I can't Because you have to Scurry nine.
We're almost there. Most it last movie question.
I came out in 2022 and start, Frank Grillo, and the supporting actress in this film. Won a Razzie for worst
supporting actress. Ha ha ha.
Yeah! Yeah.
Correct. Hmm.
Okay. And we'll do Lucky hot a message
a little bit. Now, I have no idea.
I have a suspicion that it's a big weight film and then that's the answer to the question. Are you trying to?
And I don't think many people have really heard of Frank Grillo. We have the question again,
please, pay attention. Yeah, yeah, I could say again so
for three points, it came out of 2022.
To the main star is Frank Grillo, and the supporting actress in this film. Won a Razzie for worst.
Supporting actress in a smoothie or another movie.
In this movie, a German kid, can I I just want to put it out there and I could, he's gonna be the film was at 200 miles per hour? No, it's not.
Okay, because I was one of the worst films I've ever watched all attempted to watch Baywatch. What is something something
just went against that. I'm pretty sure it's a very,
very poor little star. With just with these argument
about the clutches and stuff that are in the Ferraris because the owner of Lamborghini had a Ferrari and he didn't like the clutches and ends are pretty much told him to get stuffed.
That's why they wanted to engineer his own tractor clutch and put it into his Ferrari to prove that these clutches in the Ferraris were crap. And that's all them again.
You got started on cars. Well I'm sorry.
I'm yeah. Well done, he Googled it.
Yeah, alright, last question or should we do Scorch?
It school, chick, Aleman three, myself on fire.
I don't want to. I can actually I'm an eight
Adrian and one Edward on 31, a robe on three David.
On one and Tyrone on 411. All right, three points.
Move them. Back to cars.
I came out in 1978 and I have two names.
Both starting with Abby. David.
Mmm, whoopsie. David Googling it, a boxer?
No. Oh, hey, Dante came out and 78.
Three names names. Starting with b, they both start
with be two different names for this car and they both start with b Ed Beetle and bug that's not 1978.
No, it's a lot earlier than that.
Yeah well I thought you had a day that I was going to say bill in a boxer but I think you would guess David I guess these are what you did the building a box of coming up 76 something.
Okay. And we're veg finds as you got
on my 42.4, two points. So, for two points, I could have
came with something called jump seats.
Oh Matthew I don't this is this is the seal.
The Subaru Brat or Subaru. Brumby.
Yes. But um from be all brass yeah
they had those incredibly dangerous receipts from jump seats. They're fine.
Just driving. Mike nothing.
Wound up my quiz, screams an awesome quiz just just putting it out there and thank you very much.
I'm glad I checked enjoyed it, we've got David one.
Adrian one, we've got robbed and Aleman three-piece, you've got, and then you've got to add 1/3 as well total for, and I'm your winner on a 10 points. Generally, well, a lot of people
taking cracks at the three. Points and getting a three point
is to? Yeah, it's will see every time I
do the quiz. Everyone's like, oh God, here we
go. Matt Matt, Matt, but then, when
I did the one time I actually win you guys always just like you're cheating. But he said, oh, yeah,
absolutely, that's exactly what happened.
Yes. Yes, let's do some plugs.
