Tesla's European EV lead further erodes,
facing really tough November's in France,
and Spain as well.
France fell by 33% since the beginning of 2025.
Spain, meanwhile, is decreasing along with other countries
such as Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands.
One bright spot for Tesla is Norway, though,
which really, if you look at the overall European figure
or EU plus other countries figure,
that Norway number in November
really, really saved a bad overall number for Tesla.
People in Norway bringing sales forward,
purchases forward ahead of new taxes in 2026.
But on a broader view,
Tesla's market share across Europe
continues to drop losing out,
in some ways to Chinese newcomers like BYD,
which have doubled or tripled their sales
in the last year of EVs.
The administration in the United States
wants to weaken the fuel economy rules.
Under the old Biden era,
car makers had to hit 50 MPG
for their average fleet by 2031.
Do-able, but interesting task
for the engineers to work on over the next six years,
the Trump administration reducing that to 34.5 miles
per gallon, and that's to be hit by 2031.
They said that this is people being brainwashed.
It's a green new scam,
and that you pay too much money for cars
that don't work as well,
so all of the nonsense is being taken out of cars,
was the quote.
Germany is nearing 2 million electric cars
as policy shifts.
By early October, 1.93 million pure BEVs
were registered in Germany,
according to the Central Vehicle Register.
That was about 94,000 more than three months earlier,
and means Germany will hit 2 million BEVs
by the end of the year.
Kia is slashing EV prices in the United States
up to $10,000 off their vehicles,
like the Nero EV, EV6 and EV9,
and some financing deals in there as well.
Volkswagen is shifting how they make EVs.
They'll be a new regional governance plan for production,
they say.
22 factories that make Volkswagen,
Scotters, Saetz and Cooper
as organized into regional clusters.
They'll start this in the Iberian Peninsula,
where vehicles like the ID Polo,
Cooper Reval, ID Cross, Scotta Epic,
even the little ID one that's coming in a couple of years' time
made in Spain and Portugal.
Porsche's Cayenne is capable off-road.
In fact, Porsche's senior management VP
of the Cayenne model line,
saying that the electric version of the SUV
outdoes any of the combustion ones they've made
when going off-road.
BMW is pushing the European Union to act.
They say that the United States
has already implemented its part of the tariff deal,
but the EU is dragging its feet
and they say that's costing BMW money in tariffs.
Volkswagen is ending, sorry, California is ending,
solo EV carpool access.
As of Monday this week,
anyone driving alone in a high occupancy lane
faces a $490 fine.
That's the end of the decal scheme there.
Governor Gavin Newsom had signed a bill to keep it going,
but it didn't meet a federal approval.
Irish EV sales hitting a new record so far in 2025
with a month still to go,
beating the previous record of 2023.

And here in the UK, a new study has been done
looking at the effect of paper mile charges.
Now we get it in 2028.
It's already in many places like New Zealand
and lots of countries around the world
are thinking about how they replace lost fuel duty.

versus equivalent petrols and diesels,
looked at insurance, running, maintenance,
and purchase price and came out,
the average EV is still 1,450 pounds a year cheaper,
especially if you're buying a used EV
and that is factoring in the three pence per mile tax
which comes into this country in 2028.
