So the stereo he wanted had to have a reversing camera installed and that I basically had to yeah, fish all the way to the front plus a DAV digital antenna.

We should have fish through the a-pillar, on the left hand side and then the microphone for the new Terror fishing down the right-hand side involve. This is the kind of thing you

pay in order to electrician to do or maybe bunting.

Okay. A good friend who's well, do you

know how bad I hurt me? And probably one of the hardest

things was, I watched a couple of video tutorials, and I am a fond user of the solder method, because I think if you want to put wires together, Other Soldier, you know, take them up, whatever you do or heat shrink them and that is a solid connection. A lot of the tutorials my watch

advise really really crappy methods like T taps or something. Basically you put two wires that

you need to connect in this little plastic thing that has a little I guess, bladed it and it creeps down on them and then those wires are connected. Allegedly.

Allegedly, it works. Huge.

Italy did not work for me at all.

Really. So we had no power right to the

camera. Even though the colors are

reversed. So too.

Yeah, I told cut into the That's like cables is that is not supposed to be there. Yeah I was talking to the right.

Yeah. So you most he Taps nothing so I

actually then you know Brad the butane soldering iron and went that way and then yeah, that worked out nicely.

So we we trouble. You should do some shitty

yesterday night. Just to make sure there's

actually power getting to the camera, they wasn't and once we got the power going, that was all well and good.

We had we listened otherwise just to send a reverse signal.

The stereo so it knows to turn the camera on or go to the camera screen when calendars in reverse.

And then once we tuck away the wires, I realized that I had looped that camera wire around a seat belt.

Thankfully, I was able to unbolt the seat belt beneath the seat and take care of that way. Yeah, I made sure to Snug it

back in a hurry. Well, the last thing we've got

is where we usually buy a Extra little harness adapter things that we he can use the factory USB and AUX port that's in.

The car would have used Terrier rather than writing new cables.

So, don't be the last thing we get tomorrow and it will be buttoned up most of the trip is back in place.

Thankfully, the reversing camera does work the DAV digital works.

The Bluetooth works. So I think he'll be happy boy.

So and this is kind of the one

you'd want if you're going to go electric.

So I was like, there's always seems to be better value and everything was going great and back from the test drive, you know, I was offered a coffee and all that because I'm going to take all my money. Now, the contract and everything

ready. I think was I had price this car

online. The price was eighty four

thousand, seven hundred, two dollars, that's the price.

I was more than happy to pay because, you know, that's what we agree to the contract. He gives me is eighty.

Seven thousand two hundred dollars.

Hmm. And said that's, that's not the

price of the car. So.

Well, he said, basically, the price on the website is only applied to the models delivered in 2022.

And for the 2023 model year, the price is going up.

Its massive job. Yeah, that's the message.

Um, and I said, well, why isn't that reflected on the site?

Yeah, it's what you, if you can't possibly deliver any of these cars in 2022, could you not be representing the 2023 price? So like they basically had a

back and forth of the manager and he said, well, it's not really our fault. I'm like pop you still

representing Volvo, right? Like I'm not going to go.

It also has a big Fort of law so like they gave me a couple of solutions, one was the birth, I'd say it's silly as each other, the first solution was will write down if the price goes down from this. But next year you get to pay the

low low price which I thought was considered the double.

Oh yeah, yeah yeah. But we have to stipulate that

the price goes up, you have to pay the increased price and the price is going to go and I said, you just gave me a piece of paper that said the price is going up.

So I know back to square one like and, you know, at that point, I just got up. And I said, well, I appreciate

that. I just gonna, I'm gonna go think

about this. If I said, I said, like if you

can promise me this price by today, I'll buy, will put the money on today. That's not an issue.

What's it like Tom on the mound because I heard there was a massive weight on that. Um, they promised somewhere in

there, April next year, right? Um, but I don't trust that

anyway. That was lower but like, it's

not a car I need. Suddenly, it's more sort of car

that I could be. I put a deposit down.

I happily just wait until it comes.

It's just again, I didn't like, I don't blame the dealership entirely because I spoke to another dealership and they basically said, well, we can sign you up again.

They were happy to say that the quite the price of 84 700, but they said, if the manufacturing price does go up, Go up.

You'll have to pay the increased price and like I've also got the D-Max which is it's an entire issue on itself.

But that at the very least again, in that corner, that that car is gone up. Another seven days knows that

contract very specifically says, this is the price I'm going to pay because that surprised that I put the deposit.

So, like manufacturers kind of changing things on, you know, to Consumer, you know, after deposits paid.

I'm kind of fighting that bit. It is a seller's market as I

spoke to Buddy, it's definitely still sells market so they can kind of do what they want. But you know, I wish I'd been a

better experience at all. So you've ovilus philia, I might

end up just biting the bullet because I've I looked at other electric cars in the same range and I'm not really, really finding something that's providing, I guess a similar.

I don't think that's a way of a way of doing a contractor contract. And, you know, it's not a good

interesting how some of the some of them do stipulate in the fine print that the manufacturers price goes up, they have to pass that on and you agree to that. But like others again, stipulate

that? No, you pay the price that we

agree to on the day. You just depends on the

manufacturer. I think depends on how astute

you, on, when reading the contract.

mess, took the air flow meter out, sprayed that whole thing down supposedly has a self-cleaning thing on it to it.

Actually heats up stuff. Cleans itself.

dirty. I know that didn't really do

much either. A lot of people say it's like

the cam angle sensor but I already put a brand-new one in it, so it can't be that. So I thought, who knows?

Maybe it's the leads. I've hugged him a bit, giving a

bit of a hard time. So I bought bring you leads.

I've got some good Bosch ignition leads that I'll put on, they arrived the other day and a new throttle position sensor to.

So just to try and start covering all the bases.

All the little electronics and things to make sure they're all good. I mean when you think about it

1989 it's pretty old. So yeah there's going to be some

electronic setting us up to fail so I got that that should be easy around 89, it's Japanese. You got nothing to win you back.

Rover, sd1. Then start telling whinging

about Electronics or just the BMW.

Yeah, yeah, it could be, yeah, everything gets brittle, no matter what the connectors and stuff like that.

those works if not, then I'll go for a new air flow meter after that. And then if it's anything, if

it's still doing it, then I have absolutely no clue because that is, that's everything, you know. This is not a new car doesn't

have much that can go wrong. Yes.

What are the symptoms? Just keeps missing a misfire in

the engine. Yeah, so it's just not idling.

Well, there's a pretty good Miss in general, it would really like to rev down low and till I give it a bit of throttle and then we'll sit there and hold quite well.

But yeah, it's not too heavy. You know how sometimes.

So I go to the throttle cable and quickly give it like quick hits. Yeah, to rev it up.

There's a slight, pause. And then it revs up and it will

drop back down. So there's a bit of a pause in

it and then leaving it there. Sitting there idling thought,

maybe it would clear up after bit, which has before, because maybe know I do just needs to sit there for a bit.

Gave it a rave and stuff like that, but that's still still not overly happy there misfire. So could be injectors clogged or

something. Like, it could be one of that's

just that's just a bit. Yeah, it could be.

I can get it. I'll just buy like a cleaner

first? Yeah, absolutely speaks out on

blocks it, if not, then, just remove those.

And I just get some v l turbo injectors.

They were actually open on a Saturday morning for registrations and I thought I'd never heard of that and I've since wrung them about getting my Caravan registered and they said, although only do it a couple of times a year, and you never know when they're gonna To do it.

They just do it just for a registrations and so you can book online but it, because I look, I look for Saturday appointments. Now, for the Caravan, nothing

from so apparently it's random. It's a couple of times a year

and I don't know why the hell, I don't know why they do that.

Like it was handy for me. I went in at 8:00 Saturday

morning when I was out by eight 23rd registered Fiesta, but I sort of thought, well, either you do it on going on a roster or you don't do it at all. I would you just do it like to

turn to you or three times a year?

Great. So Fiesta registered gone, I've

shelled out for black and white slim line plates on that because it was a black car and it was quite neat and I thought it really deserved Black and Whites the greed and put those normal and Subaru, Liberty, 1990 wagon. Also, a sold that is now in for

its Rody, just getting a couple little things done.

Well, I'll find out tomorrow, but it's 30 being looked at by my mechanic but the road with a guy is across the road.

So my mechanics replaced a seat belt and a headlight and he's already done The Rocker cover gaskets and drive shaft boot in the front brake pads. All that was done already.

So it's now just Whatever the guy picks but according to my guys shouldn't pick anything because it looks pretty good, so hopefully not much more. It's just this case scenario had

someone look at the Toronto, but that's not sold yet.

What else have I done. Got the Caravan parent need to

register, a caravan. That's really old and doesn't

have a chassis number or VIN number or any of that.

Even though it's been registered inventory, before you need what's called an our number which gets basically a new chassis number. And it's got to be Anton, the

drawbar. And it has to have a compliance.

So you have to go to some sort of trailer place to get that done. So I got that done today and

picked it up at lunch time. So that is sorted.

So then when they go to register, they just reference that number that's on the Jawbone and they've given you.

So, apparently, that's the way for anyone wanting to register a trailer that you have to go about it.

Other than that, yeah, drove us camp on the freeway last night running. Well, since it's incident on my

birthday driver, few weeks back, which was a loose plug lead since then I'm stopping. Double fine, nothing wrong with

it Siana being honest. Yep.

What else have I done? Brought the red mercury back

home or drive wrap that around for beat.

I'm by a Holden Barina from the abandoned vehicle auction for one of the council's. So it comes without keys, which

is interesting. I'm going to try and get an

automotive locksmith to cut me a key because it'll be the same key for the doors and the ignition.

And I sort of One that does everything.

Not like a different door, one to the ignition, you know.

So so I think I'll get them out to go.

On-site and do that. Hopefully, for a few hundred

dollars, I can have that sorted and there's a little red two-door late 90's Barina with a T-1000 pays on it.

all day, you know, Subaru, still sell the WRX and they don't have to and I guess I don't tell an STI and it's a bit of a nude selfie. But they still sell a

performance car and they don't have to sell it, they selling wagon form. You know, up to now that the

Venus Java version of that in the wind, isn't it?

Yep. So a lot of its got to do and a

lot of Manufacturers I mean Australia is a little Drop in the Ocean as far as a car market too crowded part of the problem.

We have a lot of Brands coming in that we haven't had before you do an already crowded market and I think the established Player is that looking and thinking?

Well, you know, we sell or how many, how many focuses and fiestas to settle last? 12 months?

Not many know that. That's what they've, and I mean,

that's partly as you say, mostly because of the lack of marketing for them, because they're cracking a little cars.

But when you, when you're looking at, you know, having to support more with spare parts for 10 years at this per consumer law, and all that sort of thing, I think that's where a lot of this is coming. You probably just saying it,

we're not going to bother with that.

We've got our and and the other thing with the when you say with them Mac, the Mac either electric one.

Yep. And a lot of lightning and

stuff. I mean, we were like a

third-world country as far as the infrastructure around electrification and and the government backing of electric cars, it'd be really interesting to get rize's take on on that currently work. He's too in that area.

I think it's really sad there. It's almost like there is there

much compliance that needs to be done now, with a DRS or do you know with the British or the German built cars?

Um, well I mean they've passed ideas.

So like I didn't know how much they needed to get done 48ers but that wouldn't be too much because there is virtually identical to the Exactly. The same.

Like, I used to be a huge living effected.

The fact that they had to interview them specifically for child, restraint Anchorage points and things like that.

The there were only only for Australia or not for other markets but now with isofix that's pretty much a thing of the past a little bit. Yeah, so yeah, that's not as not

as much an issue. I just think it's, they've got

to make these decisions around, keeping the spare parts, inventory for 10 years and all that sort of thing.

And and and It's all about trying to make some money in an in an increasingly crowded Market.

And then you start reading articles saying, oh, these be careful if you're importing these cars particles, all this rubbish. Look away.

Yeah, well, absolutely, yeah. I mean, what's our Market here

to save? Got nothing here.

We don't do anything anymore. First of all, but I was reading,

I was reading thinking, like people saying, oh, well, looks like I'm gonna have to go to Toyota and some was like, well, yeah, good luck getting a Garis they said, because there's just a long list. You probably never going to get

one of this point, but like, I just yeah, like I worried on myself because like, obviously it's a brand-new car and but like part wise and stuff like I'm gonna have to get things out of Of Europe. It looks like in terms of like

if they're not going to support me, you know, you know, after after a few years which which, you know, I know I've got a few few people connect like connections at that.

I can kind of, you know, swing my way around and try to get things but like at the end of the day, it's still crap.

Like it's just really frustrating.

Yeah, I don't know what to say. I'm just just really am bitterly

disappointed because you know, they're there a cracking little thing and now we don't get them anymore.

So Well, it is what it is. I can tell Maddie I can tell you

really disappoint. Yeah, I mean it's like for a

couple. Yeah.

long of always being a performant, like you're having a performance orientated you know modernism and you know Telstar turbos. They had they had TX laser

turbos. They've had one day OST 24.

Is that, you know, like that that had really great V6 has, they had, you know, performance Falcons forever.

You know, you know they had And I had hot fiestas and, and also, like, the hell was. I like a sports, his sporting

one, there was always a good drive and, you know, and now that they've got nothing like, like, a Mustang.

Okay? Yeah, great.

It's a good muscle car. It's actually a good sports car

to be fair, but they're not cheap, you know?

And the good thing about for they were always cheap like that, you know, they will always always an affordable, you know, performance card for your blue collar, your average Joe that would could get like we get so good, get your hands on something fun to drive. A reasonable amount of money,

you know, he's about to go to you cheap for some for work.

Yep. Absolutely.

Right. There's a ridiculous money.

Villager drug money for, for what they're after and second-hand Market or even worse, you know?

So you paid money and they're not good to drive there.

They take up a lot of space there.

You can't fit anything in the back of him like they just, they are not a good car, I don't know what's wrong with.

Well, I don't know why we keep buying them.

Hilux has. And Me and Andy Max's and all

that stuff that they're doing, you know.

Yeah. Because I was in my street the

other day I was but you know the whole street was littered with issued he's like just just the hot, the whole street.

There was not one hatchback and sedan or anything more than an SUV was there was extra towels and do Alice's and all that.

I'm boring crap that was there. And what Got it.

There's probably 20 of them lined up like honestly because with the haven't done something apart like a bird that kid's birthday party at the apartment. Next door to my house and and

I'm just like, I don't think I've thought about my like this is just it's just breaks like every bone in my body you know, really just it just frustrates me but I guess that's what people want today. I was backing out of a driveway.

I couldn't, I couldn't see, I couldn't see because there was an SUV there and I couldn't see behind.

It was just so big and tall. I couldn't put my head over the

top because I'm sitting in a laser that's on the ground.

And yeah, I'm just yeah, I just feel like our days are numbered in a lot of ways with what we're going to have.

So, so Car Talk top tip. If you want a fun car that's

that's quite rare and that's quite an that you don't think they're going to make a not anymore because we're going electric. And we're going SUV by Civic

Type R by and II 30 in or I-20 in or whatever.

By corollary is gr by an 86 buyer.

B.i.g. by a fun performance car before You can't get them

because if anything goes, if you like my friends, my friends case, anything go by, you can't get them anymore.

So try get one before they say we're not covering anything besides Rangers to your country because that is all people want.

So yeah. There you go.
