"He's like he hates the car Capt. I guess a lot of Volkswagen golf's, but I probably wouldn't really go near those nope. Yeah, there's a lot of similar cars but that there's so much to choose from that if you just want something that will get you from A to B, but still have a lot of technology and things that you want in it, there is heaps to choose from."
"...me as the floor. Mats. We talk about a V6, Toyota Camry. So a 1990 which I think is wrong in itself."

Welcome to car talk. It's Tuesday night.
It's me many J in online with Edward bunting, re0, sakta, Scotty do Johnson and mr. David Prince, how are you guys?
Hello. Well, thank you.
Very good to hear. Good to see all your lovely
faces, but to see people out of lockdown, which I leave it to concierge would on the weekend, which was nice.
It was a know, you're not talking General lock, and you're taking your quarantine, the famous words of bangs, drink worry. Got a lot of stuff, you're gonna
shoot to do during quarantine, go to say, 1.5 meters away from
you, and that's what that's what I had to do.
So I was in hiding. I was, I was, you know, trying
to try to be as good as I could be.
But but good to be on the mend and and recovering Scotty.
How you feeling, how you feeling better?
Yeah, I'm getting there. That's taking longer than I
thought. But yeah, I think I'm getting
there well, so you're forced into zen mode.
Like, forced sin Mi? Yeah, pretty much.
Oh, no, I mean, you're on the other side.
You Maddie I'm Invincible now it's a I think we think we've got the immunity and it should be all good from there but Scotty was not with you. How you go about what's
happening with you carp dates will get into it before you interrupt our stopping right car.
Thanks for me. I'm doing.
Alright, just plugging away working as usual, had my birthday last week and for my birthday I bought a new r31 transmission as an R&B 20 transmission.
That's been Fully rebuilt, even Hillstrand would have been tricky to rap, so I'll get it delivered to me.
Next weekend. It's awesome.
So the manual swap is happening. Yeah, I pretty much got
everything. Just got to get the manual
crossmember, that's easy to get because there's company.
That makes them just get a brand new one of those.
Oh bam. A local base Scotty.
Since I'll be Factory of seen him, they pop up have some different bits and pieces and engine mounts for different engine swaps that you might want to do.
So there's like engine mounts. If you want to do beerus swap in
your 31 and different Transmissions that you might want to change with different amounts but they've got So not just guidelines. They do.
Do a whole range of different things or Judaism is not mainly Skyline stuff. That's awesome.
And so so there are they the ones have the transmission or they're just the nah. Now, the one that has got the
transmission is just deals with like R30 ones.
I bought the little centerpiece and stuff earlier from him, and I thought I'd find out if he does have transmission, any does and the price was fantastic. Lovely.
Right. I'll be 20 gave up stretch so if
out of like a 32 GTS T yeah. Yep yep yep.
Yep correct. I don't know but I've bought
Stripes right up through the loop.
Yes, pretty much identical to our 31 manual.
There's not really any differences, but I would then the code other than I think the code that's printed on the side of it is like the only difference, not as awesome.
Well, that's, that's exact. That's, that's a really it's a
really great by now, do you have a clutch and stuff as are Old you have to order order, clutch. Now, I still got clutch still
kicking around from that. I got when I bought all the
other bits and pieces are sick, okay?
That's exciting and it's happening.
Now it's going to, it's going to, it's going to happen.
So that's yeah now that's awesome.
So we're going to we're going to have a manual on the road r31 Skyline and it's going to get it's going to be 60.
I cannot wait to see it. Scotty saying yeah I'm super
excited. Really happy for that Scott.
See I'm finally making the happen more man getting there.
I've got to make sure that, you know, I'm looking at all the bits and pieces that I might need to make sure I've got them so I can go through the box and see what I've got and what I might need, you know, I assumed maybe I might need some new bolts and things like that but I won't know until I get the transmission. Then I'll know all the bits and
pieces, I might need to grab all the majority I've got so clutch, reservoirs, the pedals The surrounds the gear stick as well. So even if it doesn't come with
it, I've got that all the lines to go with it.
The tail shaft. Yeah, I think that's pretty much
it. That's exciting, dude, that's
really exciting. So I will talking during during
last week when you when you're, when you're messaging me about it and I said, you know, we could have a dog that we could all do a working be on and spend one weekend one day just get it done. Everybody's doing it so job and
just make it happen to me. Get we get this 31 on the road
because it's going to be there for classic Japan.
Scotty it's gonna be there. This year will tell you it's
going to be there, right? Yeah.
I was pretty want to get it ready to go by these next school, holidays. Lovely.
That sounds very easy to Penny's December the 4th or 6th.
I think the Sunday first Sunday in December.
Now, that's awesome. So are you gonna keep it
automatic to get up through the very well?
For now and then when you stop it after, yeah, I'll be the easier. Yep.
That'll be the easiest, the sir sounds good.
And we can we can make it happen and you'll have a manual are 31 which is going to be exciting. I cannot wait to see that that's
gonna be great. Already up the price for an
extra 3 k on it. Yeah.
Yeah. Happy with that.
So it's an executive spec. Yes I do GX E isn't it?
Yes, while the executive is a TI, is next one up?
No, the executive was the deputy's.
The executive was Otto here in steel, basically.
Then the GXE, I think. And then the ti was above that
Island. It's me.
I was at, and then the silhouette and then, the gdr order. He dies, he dies, he dies.
That's all mentally. It is, he S one and a GTS to
character. Nice.
As some people think we need to find a white or red wagon and do it wagon replica mock-up. That would be sick.
That would look awesome. Yeah, I completely agree.
David characters with me negligible this week.
I had an altercation with the concrete paving at the back of my house, the day after last podcast, actually loading and fractured, a couple of bits that are sort of essential to actually Mobility. So I've been in plenty of cars
being driven to medical appointments and Ray's and MRIs and things like that. So, that's been the extent of my
eye and YouTube stuff on YouTube.
I've discovered her, a she, it is a, it is a like, like that. So few acting road tests of lots
of people in a Erica buying them.
The price is only going to go north because they're very popular over there now, it seems.
Yes. I know.
I'm pretty boring tonight. I think I think we move along to
someone more interesting. Then we could all wish you well
on your recovery mr. Thank you very much Rosie Ross.
Oh car updates Cerrado hundred and two thousand Kaze.
No real issues have had. I did have a puncture in the
white Tesla couple of for probably Two months ago, I got my friend mechanic to patch it up because the tires are pretty much pretty new. It's only down about 3,000 case.
Okay. Anyway, online repair or
something and to do it with a live update repair or something.
Look, I wish I could but get this.
Now the Michelin Pilot Sport fours on there.
They have the acoustic treatment on them so that makes it a bit the right, a bit quieter but they are really good tires anywho Not in the country whose know.
So to get one in, I went to my local tire specialist on the road Harbour toys and they reckon.
Yep, we'll be able to get one in about a week or so the leaks very slow. So you know, I mean I've got a
little while be pump in the back that I just take it with me at the moment until I can get the tires fixed.
But to instead to get this Mitchell and Power Sport for specifically designed for the car $435 installed.
Well having said that, the male sport for S is on the read performance are around 550 so but that's with a six pretty good. I mean, not Beach.
Yes, I realize that I realize that but then again Vin runs 130 bucks. So will that you say really we'd
run the wolf hit it. There's a VIN.
Run that will fit, it's funny. There's a win one that will fit
The performance, same profile, all of that sort of stuff.
Obviously, without the acoustic treatment having said that though, if I did not well on the performance, if the tires, the we're at the moment. It's done, 30,000 cases.
Now The Veyron those tires is probably I think I'll get another 20,000 case out of them which is pretty good for low profile woman sighs with that sort of weight and they've really, really good quality car. Like the Michelin Pilot Sport
SAR, think contemplating buying as sort of one or two Vin run.
Once in case of an emergency and when they do, take this tire off the the standard pulse port for of Scott install the 430.
Don't let tireon, I'd be interested to see and I don't know if you guys have any experience obviously mommy, kind of did a pretty not so great job in trying to patch it up because you didn't take the tire off or anything.
I don't know if you can actually patch these tires or do something because it fires pretty much brand-new.
Yeah. Like with what I've had low
profile tires, get a puncher. What's happened is they've taken
her to take the wheel off the tire off.
Yeah, there was Like Patrick from the inside out.
Yes. And then they put it back on and
I've had no issues, but if there's not a bad size that works. Yeah, yes, be fun.
Yeah, oh cool. So maybe I'll do that.
I'll so when I get the new tire, I'll get them.
Obviously, they're going to take the other tire off, we off car so and then I'll get them to, you know, do a proper path.
I thought there would be a way to do a proper patch up on those, if you take them off. So, All good.
Thanks. That's that's the best.
The knowledge that I, you know, I always get schooled by my great League teacher. I'm a DJ, you know, obviously
could have taken me to the city when I was in year 10, but then he might have been in here. Ate himself, you know I'm
saying? Well, do the first time?
It's a funny story. The first time I went over nice
corrosion. I was a, I was a pre-service
teacher and they said, I do you want to obviously show your teacher to the city? I'm like, yeah, sure here.
Free ride in the city, why not? So I will do the Galleries and
then a few things, and this is what with a whole bunch of year, it's like half the year, right cohorts who was like a good like 300, so knocked around like kids, but like for me to just under two kids out there with them.
Anyway, we had these going smooth and, and my friend.
Joe, she's like to visualize cheese, the day's going really smooth. And my colleagues.
I'm like, excuse is a piece of piss.
Like, they're, they're easy as if he were one of the kids has narcolepsy and just collapsed in the, in the, in the females toilets. And then basically, Hey boys,
and all sorts of stuff, and it just it just the day turned to crap, but one of the members of the public tried to punch on with me and in front of the kids in that.
And then I was just like I'm like I don't feel like getting stabbed today, please go away. Yeah and he's like swearing
carry out in front of the kids. I'm like look these kids you
know they're doing nothing just just you mind giving me just a long story short. I get back into the into the bus
on the way home and Joe is just like pale as because she's like, this has been the worst day of my life.
She's she's like, believe me, man.
It's never this bad. So as long as the days ago, go
better than that, I'm all good within easy with an Excursion mr. Ed Wood bunting hello hello.
Hello updates updates updates. Can't remember where we got to.
Last time I did buy this Camp off David, I did drive that a lot, you know, I feel like it's good to give cars a bit of a Shakedown Shakedown and it certainly, you know, not no non-aggressive, but it certainly had that, you know, I went any excuse to drive it, I would drive it, which was great, you know, been a freeway bit of town bitter, bitter.
I went out Chapel Street with Alex like welding is, my problem is and he goes. Let's go down Chapel Street.
I'm like all right, wasn't that busy?
But I thought probably hasn't done a chap left before it all the ones that did with me. Yeah, yeah.
Well I'm assuming yeah. See, David windows down glasses
on this area, you spit off, put that away and I dragged out the yellow 11 Olt. So that's now getting a really
good thrashing. It's been up and back to the
peninsula twice. It went out last night to one
didn't which is out near kind of the Dandy dogs a bit.
It's not the side of the dance. Journalist died.
Yeah, so I went out there. Why did I go out there because
someone sent me a car for sale that I sort of like the look of.
So, I went and bought that. What did you buy?
I bought a, I've always had a soft spot for this model.
It's the very first gen Subaru Liberty, so alright, yeah, in 90 wagon GX Manuel Manuel, it's the two-wheel-drive not All-wheel drive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
As the four-wheel drives, had that airbag suspension, which was Notorious for stuffing up. So, this is your Plain Jane
two-wheel drive. Yeah.
One owner, 182 case on it and really clean like like, you know, when you've looked at a car enough over the years, you just know all the waypoints. Like I know that those hubcaps
all go yellow, the silver paint sort of peels off.
I know that the black around the window Trims and all along the side of the cabin peels off and goes back.
To Chrome because it was a rigid originally Chrome underneath there, just stuff like that. And this car was exhibiting,
none of those faults. And I just thought, God, it's
always been undercover. Obviously, it's a real fine.
You know, pick that up NEX next weekend, but over inspected, test-driven yeah, paid for and will sort that out next week when I'm around. And what else?
Because only keep on. You never quite know when you
buy them. The us as we've discovered
before you Matthew you buy them and you know, you assess your Glee give it a bit of a Shakedown and you assess and you make your decision from there but you probably won't find a cleaner. One.
Probably not in time and space. No, No Object.
Oh yes, I'd put keep them all. But that one likely will
probably find a new home somewhere.
I'm I'm sort of half thinking. Maybe it'll end up at my
brother's because he loves those as well, and it's Club, read your ball. It's quite practical.
He, I know he would enjoy driving it and the Renault that he's got his not, it's good, but it's not great.
And so I sort of thought maybe that would end up with him, you know, I sell that Renault and maybe he buys the to be off me or something. But we'll, we'll see, we'll just
assess it and clean it. And, you know, See how I feel
about this one. Yeah, yeah they had to get
because most of them have been butchered and you know, Surfers have driven outdoorsy types and they've really had very hard lives. Well, I 32 year old car like
that. Vast majority of been through a
number of owners and as they progressively become cheaper, you know, the sort of level to which the maintenance is kept up at, you know, is drops correspondingly.
So so to find one one with under 200,000 case in itself is pretty rare. Yeah.
And in that condition is extraordinarily rare.
So and there are and there are very robust card.
Like, no, my friend had one, I helped him.
Buy it done just over 100,000. But this, we're talking 20 years
ago, you know, it was his birthday and, and he had that for years and years, you know, long after everyone else had got rid of their first cars. He just kept it, you know, it
doesn't always had it serviced and it Keep going and going and going and going. And we took it to the snow so
many times and he's wasn't even an old drive one either.
He's was the same spec as this only thing.
This one does not have aircon and I said to the girl was selling it for a mum who bought it new and I said to her hardest have aircon she said no mum. I remember at the time mum said
what do you need are confused window down all of the are cons to wear a dealer fit. So I thought if you found
someone who used to work on them, back in the day, Okay.
Yeah. And had a bit of a donor car.
You could pretty easily get air con putting to.
Yeah, if you if you were going to use it a bit over the, some of them's Regional double din din stereo, which I like was in the original crime nudge bar, which I like so.
Okay, so that's it gets born on a Monday night and someone has nothing. That's why it was funny.
Mum said last night, you know, is I was about to go to do.
It's very cold wet, you know, you want to take my car keys.
She knew I was getting around the rim.
And I said, no, I'll take the head.
The rain has been in the rain before, you know, it knows what to do. It'll be right.
Yeah, I had it. I filled up just after work
today. And lady was next to me in a be
class and she said, ah, you know, great car.
Yeah. My uncle used to have those.
And so, we were chatting a bit about them, she has all your ties a bit down on here and I said, yeah, I'm about to about to pump those up. That's why Matthew and you
drove. It recently was really heavy,
because then I didn't realize the time.
Eyes are 10 psi that where they should be, but, um, so it's much better now. Them to the steering but she
goes. Anyway, we talked a bit about it
because I I prefer I prefer my Mercedes though.
You know, she's sort of said, with him with an air of elitism.
I said, yes, yes. I've got three of those and we
lifted it. Good response, good response.
So that's Edward and cars, I think, for this week, not much else. I had an interesting come back
to life. I suppose you could say on the
weekend was I like to come out of lockdown on Saturday and my brother wanted to look at a car. Now, not just any car, but the
car that he knows I like and I like what?
I've got a fair bit and he likes as well, was a w204 C63 AMG and he big fan of those, I've I think they're just dirty sounding V8 and they do make a great noise and they and they they go pretty well and so we went and had a look at it.
I'm going to try and drive really well and had a lot of had a lot of Maintenance. Don't like the be the head studs
on the early cars because it's nearly a car.
How do you choose? But apart from that, it was
really looked at it driver. I open it.
Had it needs few things. Got a hundred and thirty eight
hour on the clock so my brothers like yeah look, oh I'll do it.
We got an inspection done yesterday and it is hemorrhaging oil. And like hemorrhaging engine
oil, hemorrhaging transmission fluid.
Just it's just hemorrhaging really and and the mechanic you inspector, this is like, do not go near this thing.
But so so he's like, well, looks like we're looking for another one. So why hang on?
But I mean, will leaks in themselves are not the end of the world. No, but he's like, it is just
how it had some bhadra. He's like it's had some body
repairs that underneath the car just I'm just chibi stuff.
Put on it hasn't been looked after.
Just on my on that topic. My colleague from Sydney has one
of those and he's did just start to Henry joyal quite badly, turned out. It was from the transmission
which was the transmission. Some gasket let go in a fairly
big way. So it was, it was leaving pools
of, you know, red fluid on the ground.
Had that done for sort of 400 bucks.
Yeah, I like like some pop new gasket on and right as rain, so I thought that was quite good so I was just gonna pay for it.
If it's something like That's not the end of the world.
No, no. Levi was just the transmission.
Like I'll be like, yeah, that's if it's just a simple, some gas.
When you get recent leaking from, did they say like virtually everywhere? Because all, because we're when
we knew I had to leak what we know and how to recover leak and I'm like, look, you probably, he's like, I'll get that done for the roadworthy but then underneath the the other mechanic was like it's like it's like it needs bushes.
It needs. It needs everything done.
Like you just it's just, it's actually not how many km E Codes that have done 138 and he's like, he's like it.
Actually it's had a pretty, pretty hard life.
So what would make you think that?
I mean, they all leak oil. It's European.
Yeah, it's true. But it's like he's like just
like the Borg repair jobs and like the back.
What was botched? Are you ready?
Like the exhaust was bunched together and a few other bits and pieces and I go, 'I send me the report.
It was like a full like 10 or so page report about a degree through that. Just tell ya, it all sort of 3D
after the show. I'm so we're looking at another
one on Saturday, how much is this?
One adds a couple Grand more, and it's sick and our owner and local economy and and Luca already called him.
And the guy, the guy seems Seems seems pretty honest about.
He's like, yeah, I've opened to come.
Have a look and do it. Do what you like with it.
So yeah, go go and do that on a Saturday afternoon, that'll be in that. We might be my little Saturday
afternoon jig. So he's always wanted one and
he's like, I haven't got a V8 and I'm like, well, you're Making enough money, you can go do those things, go do it, but, he's, yeah. What did he say to you?
He doesn't have a V8 know, he was gonna get it.
Like, it was going to be a GTP at one point, you know, like in early 2003, one with the 5-speed manual and that was 40 Granny's, I call for a couple more ground I could buy of C63 AMG and that's, you know, inverted commas.
A better car. Yeah, yeah.
I'm like, oh my God. JT's probably nothing wrong with
it but we still goes. All right.
So but anyway, we'll see such that the C63 on Saturday and hopefully fingers crossed, it sounds a bit better.
So, what causes? Luca got?
Just to recap, he's got, he's F6 work.
Work, are the ranger? Yeah, he's got the F6 Stupid
Fast, Nitro thing yeah. Is that it?
That's it? Yeah.
Okay, so this is just the third. Yeah, that's not that bad.
It's a he's like, It's a family car because he's a, he's obviously got an SUV. Yeah, though, they've got their
vote on a nice Colour but I'm but he's like, oh yeah, may as well. Make sure and he's like, I don't
think they're going to go anymore cheaper than than what they are. And now that Mercedes is pretty
much going to release new C63, the four-cylinder.
He's like a be nice to have a C63 with a public proper V8.
But I mean, whatever the test driving, the thing, bloody hammered, like daen Dago hard. It surprised me how hard it was.
Like 330 is kilowatts and it was just an animal.
Like you just you just bought gone, you know?
And the Transmissions are renowned to be pretty bulletproof in them. And they said they're going to
be pretty good car. But yeah, I guess, I guess it's
kind of things come into play. So yeah, that'll be kind of my
job on on a Saturday Ruiz. You sent us a story to sorry,
man. Who did you get to look at that
C63, I can tell you, you look time.
Actually because it, it just a local Garage out that way but it was people that come to you like a vacc or a sea beans per it was a eight words. State roads.
Yes their own inspections. That's yeah.
And if we don't find anything and something's wrong with it within three months like they're happy to I think they're happy to like pay for the repair and and and be like so like they do like a proper. Check.
And, I mean, it's good for good for peace of mind.
So, yes, especially when you, when you drop in that kind of kind of a kind of the kind of court.
I mean, I didn't get one of those on the Subaru.
Wagon. I must admit.
Yeah. Well, the Subaru wagon.
Probably a better car to be fair because you sent us a Tesla with coilover suspension and pretty quick like 100 Grand look base model model 3, is that you could get from a 65 and 100 G's that's all within Five months. Six months likes, crazy
disgusting. Yeah, yeah, it's just, but
anyway, that's it, ain't a C63, you know, I'm saying it in a Benz because if it's a band, you broke to you go on, it's the famous words of across right there.
So yeah, that was pretty much my car related stuff for the week.
Moving on, gentle men to tonight's topic.
So now I as you guys know like a bargain but I was also thinking what would be the best bargain cars that do?
You write for 15 grand, like, you're under, you know, that's, that's reliable cheap to maintain cheap on fuel relative, relatively cheap and Fuel, and you're just relatively hassle-free that you can say, you know what I like.
If someone's come to say Agra 15K, I just want something, I just want a car that's going to work and not bust, my chops constantly. And what could you give me a
name? And I was thinking about that
because I was like, you know, there is there is a lot of car, you can get 15 grand but there's also the issue of, you know, cars are getting very expensive. Now, in the Specially on the
second-hand market. So it's really kind of pushed
those eight to ten Grand cars up to over 15 grand.
Now, I will, you could get GT86 is for like thirteen Grand all day and then she was when I was like 19 grams so it's you can see it like it's just everything's getting pushed pushed back up so I don't been 15 grams usually where people are these days and better comments if they just want like a like a like a second run about or something.
That's just going to take them to the shops and back.
So I will put it in your capable hands.
Gentlemen of what you think, where you would put your Hot & W, dues for a car 15K under just does that will just work be reliable. And yeah, we checked around
great seems to be the specialist when it comes to picking up Vehicles. You won't even stop for 15.
Well, recommend a very low mileage Toyota or E on what's comfortable transport. I did save a few cars on this
topic earlier. Let me just access, Those.
I mean I'm a fan of Japanese so you know, your master to choose your Suzuki Swift. It's always a very safe go to.
I put a couple of Classics in there, you know, to sort of think you can't get Classics for half-decent, maybe but, you know, a little one Volvo 1422 door manual in bright yellow, 46 to 50 168 case on it on car sales.
I thought that's actually a cool little classic amorous.
I think, you know a little classic you can still get them will under 15 grand. Honda Civics are really like
that sedan shape you know from the sort of mid to late 2000.
Those are very good. Karma is very good.
Yeah, there's one there with 25,000 case on a very in a manual very much like that one that I do, you know, we were to go 11 990 and you think oh that's a that's a brand new car for someone Honda Odysseys and to rago's you can have fun well under 15 If you need a people mover type thing, I even put a falcon in there. Mady, I put a 2006 xr6 Turbo
with 154 on the clock in a manual for 15 grand.
I thought that's a great car and then it's like, oh it's FG Falcons that I had those Eco LP is, you know, brilliant cars for sort of between 5 and 10 grand. You're a changed man after that
experience I had your chance so there is still stuff.
Out there. And I mean like that Liberty.
I've just bought if everyone gets a bit hung up on, you know, newer is better. But if you're prepared to just
go a little bit older, there are some really nicely built, not only not only, not only Japanese cars, but, you know, European cars for not crazy money, like David.
I showed an eClass to David the other day.
That was an E3, 5006 model black with cream leather sunroof.
If it's the update mode of being the 350 rather than the 320, it's a 7-speed transmission. The aircon was cold had new
tires on it, you know, comes with a roadworthy 145,000, count it not perfect, service history, couple of little things still need doing but you know that was sort of going for five grand or thereabouts electronic things done.
Like the system wasn't booting up and Just thought, I know you could probably spend a grand on that, and, you know, then there's not much profit in it, if it's, if it's coming in and out of the business. But I, you know, I thought God
if you wanted a driver, what a cracking, what a cracking piece of motor motoring and there's not a rattle in it, you know, it's tight and smooth and I just thought, you know, again it's a bit older, but if you're prepared to sniff around a bit, there are definitely cars out there for well under 15 grand.
Absolutely. And it's like it takes people
like us like to fund. To find a good ones to find
those little. Yeah, if you can sort the wheat
from the chaff a little bit. Yeah, and it's interesting
because like, you know, the first thing I think of, when I think of like just cheaper, right about cars, that'll that'll that'll be reliable. And and just work.
I started, I think Japanese and like, like late-model Korean stuff, you know, like you'll get your keeper, kantos and and, and Rios and and stuff like that, bit going back a few years.
When is, this is what? Got me?
Because I was thinking I'll see more modern.
I was like, no. What if I go back a few more
years and you can still, you can still get some great car, you know, for the money and I mean, That is class.
I had that is 4:30 with the cracker and sold it with 67,000, k on it. Every option Under the Sun.
I mean, that was a beautiful car and that I sort of a 13 and a half. I think it was.
So, you know, stuff like that is out there.
And if you're prepared, you know, if you want to spend a little bit more and maintenance potentially on something like that, you know, you're going into a cheap enough that you sort of can. Yeah, I completely agree.
I've been I was looking I I was thinking as well.
You know about going going for that kind of that vintage like early 2002 mid-2000s you know, you can get you can get some great cars and some cheap to run cars to like like you can get like a like a bab Fe gas Falcon which costs you virtually nothing to run cheap cheap parts and everything.
And you can get them under under six grand all day, like a six-hour around all day. Yeah.
And they would do just working like, I mean, you obviously got Corollas and stop it but like you can get like a nice Liberty like an organized gen full Liberty for like, Like not much money and there are beautiful car and they will put together and they when they work very well and I was like, don't order a hundred Place between four and ten Grand.
You'll get a really nice Euro in there and in some of them luxury with leather and roof and electric chairs.
And you know really nice cars, I sort of like this.
I like I like this pontification for any budget but particularly the cheap stuff. It's it's sort of like a cool.
It'll be a really good. Challenge one day to get.
All right, you go to buy two cars, you know, one luxury car and one economical daily. What are you going, get?
And, yes, it would come to the table with a couple of these things. Well, when I bought my of called
Euro like a few years ago now, I paid, I mean it was a chord luxury, like it was leather heated seats, sunroof.
It was really beautiful car. Really nice.
What did that cost when you got paid 7 grand for it?
Seven, God, it'll still be worth seven.
It with some granted Honda Service history from from data.
And when I was driving, it home, when I want to pick it up, like this is a crack, I like it. What a lot of car for the money.
Like, you forget how much car you get for the money in that car. Like it's just, it's phenomenal
and Prince. Some, those will very easily do
case I've seen them with oh, he's on them in case you could easily put another 200,000 on that without too much trouble, if it's well serviced. Hmm.
Keeping with the Honda badge and thinking This one ticked a few boxes for me, wouldn't for everybody but it's hybrid.
It's JDM so Japanese domestic Market but they've been a quite a few hundred fits coming to the country which is the Japanese version of the Jazz. And the first one that was
actually approved for import was actually what they call the Fit Shuttle, which is basically a jazz station wagon, not the prettiest car on Earth, I've got to say but this is a decent Wheels. And some tasteful sort of
blacking out of various body colored bits on the on the Glasshouse area is 1 for 12 and a half thousand with 100,000 KS but that's a hybrid automatic. Absolutely cavernous, you carry
anything in it, reverse camera climate all those sorts of things virtual and a half. I thought that was pretty good
value. Oh yeah, that's that's that's
that's great value. Like that's getting all our
technology as well. It's right there.
And the fact it's hybrid it's going to hold its value because as we move forward I think that little badge will count for an awful lot on a lot of cars. So 100 screaming cheap cheap to
service and cheap to maintain like it's not going to cost you much. Well that's it and it's rated it
4 litres per 100 case I think or three point nine or something.
So yeah, it's not going to use a lot of juice either.
No, absolutely not. I mean gimmicky my to like what
I was saying earlier about like the cars in the early 2000s like my brother's first car was a was a liberty gen3, liberty.
D r--, x 2.5, manual sunroof, nice car, beautiful.
Girl, he paid with like under 150,000 case on that car 5 grand. Okay.
And not a thing wrong with it. Drove really well.
And this is back as opposed to over 10 years ago and I could not believe you could get all that stuff off for like five grand because I was driving a before that I was driving like a 500 dollar laser, you know, and and just the automatic climate control in all these good things that this car had blew me away for the money, like absolutely blew me away and it gave be a Subaru was dead reliable. So I can, I can totally see
where where you can get some, get some cracking cars from.
Well, what about you, Scott and Scott?
What are you? What are you like?
My turn. I got some of them that you
already mentioned. So like in pick up fairly new.
Honda Jazz has if you want economy and step, they're pretty roomy, Port you get reliable would keep going.
Also, got if you want something a little bit like bigger, but still very comfortable. You can pick up G6, he's so FG
Falcons for that kind of money as well.
Sorry, you wouldn't have to worry about.
Really, any maintenance on those, we all know how Fords are come across a Lexus LS 430. I like those are there.
Great makeup. Yes.
So that's under 15 as well. That would be a great kind of
Drive what I got. Now, the cheese 6A again, this
one's only got a hundred four thousand case on it and Son of 15 grand. Wow.
So I mean that's pretty good. I've got Volvo's can be had.
So then XC60 st6. Our design is one here, 140,000
case, under 15 grand. So if you want a bit of a wagon
I mean Volvo can't go wrong. Reliability would keep going and
going and going over like Volvo's from that.
You're actually quite good and we'll talk about this the other day. I would like your Volvo is not
afraid to be who they are. Like, they're like a dog is us.
This is is what we do and is what we sell and The boys are quite loyal as well from from what I'm saying, but I'm but yeah, we are talking about how they live, their really did, narrowed their product range. They've got the product right
and they were pretty tight management team and a pretty tight dealer Network and they're not chasing volume there.
Like we are wanting to make profit on every car and this is what we do and we're not sort of us too much about what other people are doing. Is this is what we do and I
really a lot of Manufacturers are sort of going more that way but Yeah, that's more new evolvers and all of others but there are some you know slightly day get older but was you can for under 10 G's? Very cool cars.
Got I saw a few popping up there, found a 15 grand.
Is that NB? MX-5 so if you still want
something a bit, sporty, get around and very reliable.
You can still pick them up front of 15, I think they weren't as sought after because I don't have the pop-up headlights, but Isis reckon, they still look really, really good cracking my car. I agree, I love ya, the
reasonably priced, but to, he likes the mbmb he prefers the look of the, a, to the n a. And he's like, it's just a
sneaker sleepy little car but just adds it to what your point was. How do you get like a mass 3M
PS4? Like I'm the 8 Grand.
That's point. One other quick.
Cause you could buy for the money for that.
Yeah. For further for that kind of
coin. Like it's there if there are
quicker. Yeah, well I got extra five,
turbos the update on the LV. So I to me the better looking
front end and better headlights version still on 15 grand.
I've got one here in the sought-after hero color orange.
Yeah, I'm not sure what these 2013 Pulsar Triple-S as were like that. You can have one of those for
under 15 grand. If they're any good, I made a
lot of money but he's like, I regret buying it because it is like his missus couldn't drive a manual at the time.
So they bought the one with the CVT.
Yeah this is no manual one on the 15 grand.
Well, does the probably be better?
He's like, he's like him, it's horrendous.
He's like he hates the car Capt. I guess a lot of Volkswagen
golf's, but I probably wouldn't really go near those nope.
Yeah, there's a lot of similar cars but that there's so much to choose from that if you just want something that will get you from A to B, but still have a lot of technology and things that you want in it, there is heaps to choose from.
Yeah. Visit xr6 turbo, BF manual, 15
grand. Yeah, it's a lot of color, it's
a lot of Korea for the money 67's you can get front of 15 grand, if you want to go your SUVs.
So there's plenty of options out there for people that are keeping this point. You know, if you need, if you
can stretch that you don't remind you car.
There is a lot of choice. Yeah.
And it's not crummy choices or anything.
There's very, very good cars that you could.
That money. And the reason why I say that is
because people if they're looking for a second car that I want to go to cheap but they don't want to go nude.
So that like 15 years I got 15 grand.
It's kind of a kind of a sweet spot to find something decent.
So JDM there's Toyota mark x up those there is you can get Toyota crowns for that, kind of money, if you still want to go JDM, but you want You can easily get parts for those engines because they are in or eons and everything.
So many crowns on it is Zio part is, was that so David?
What about is Zo? Yes, what is that?
Come on E 20. Have what do you how do you
describe those weird hiking like a six-seater?
Orion wagon. Basically one man.
Nice 63.4 watching. Yeah.
I mean you could score one of those.
There's yeah we're going through.
I thought our 15K. What will I find?
Plenty of good stuff. You're really nice Forrester
here for 13 Grand, 2007 Forrester, key is Yaris has keeps on going and going, I'm just scrolling through at the moment, just seeing, what's pop it up?
There's just Stacks stacks of goodbyes, that kind of would tempt anyone. Like, no matter what, you're
after you'd be able to find it for under 15 K, whether you want something sporty, whether you want something more luxurious and comfortable or two-door or four-door SUVs.
Bowl. And I think a, this was your
money on instead of buying one car for 15 grand, how about we go to with a bit of cash to spare.
Okay, both of these vehicles were made in Australia.
Both of these vehicles. This is the quiz what car or
Kerala it's teacher. Yeah, this is a reasonable risk.
One, I believe came out of South Australia.
It is larger than the largest plane to ever take off meghna.
It is the Mitsubishi 383. Yeah, just like the Airbus 380.
This is large its large. It's luxurious.
It's got leather. It's got.
You can pick up examples of these for around 7 Grand with the sunroof? Apparently, I don't know if this
is true but there's an example, I'm looking.
At it even has a Ralliart badge at the back.
Woo. Now I do it on.
It's about seven Grand, the one that I'm looking at right around, 150,000 caves on it. And yes it's not the most
attractive car but it's a large sedan, it will get you around and then the other car that I was thinking of is obviously dr.
Edward bunting has had very good experiences recently with that is a territory on the whole waiting on.
Ya ATX with 180,000 case for six and a half Grand.
Now these cars bit more and I'll get you one with 35,000 k0 and see. This is the thing.
There is options. Now, the thing I love about the
or eons and Mary knows my fascination with digital dash has. Even though this wasn't a
digital dash, it looks like one for its time.
It looked pretty cool for what for what for the what this car was coming out of a. They were made in Altona when
they I sure will. Yeah.
So australian-built once again skull most said it won't be easy under. Albin, easy.
But if Albanese, he wants to bring manufacturing back like we used to these two cars are representation of what Australian Automotive manufacturing was all about large sedans and two of them under 15.
Van is a bargain completely agree.
I think that's, I mean, that's the true relatively good cause, you know, it's, you know, you know, you don't losing with with with with that money. You know, if what you go for
something a bit more classic, let's say, for example, So, it was already jumped in with an old Volvo there, but something something a bit more as you say, okay, well, 15 grand could give me something really fun and client and still reliable, like a reliable Club parameter will car.
I was saying David Prince, I would be all over this with you would be a hunter Legend from like the, like a early 90s Legend to. I think that would be a great
mother to help you with that. That's makes me.
Sit up, bedroom, my seat. Religion done good night.
Thanks very much guys. Goodbye.
Thanks to our sponsors. No not a lot there again.
There, a lot of half of the money they although I just noticed in going through looking at some others, there's a legend the same as as for 13 with the same 130k is on the clock.
So someone thinks they're worth more than they actually are, but it's not the white one. Yeah, I saw that.
Few friends of mine are like him so they've been leading him to me. I'm like I'm like dude, I kind
of tastes like I can, do you want to listen that you have to drive a house? Come and drive as so yeah, club
club permeable. Sometimes it's something that
actually I shared it in the chat which stands out to me, that takes me back to another time in my life, when a number of my friends, had these two 1975, Toyota Corona SC Magic, Manual station wagon. Yep.
Well, yeah, clean is clean bright red Center and they call that color. Still a black-and-white
original. Victorian plates plates.
Yeah, that's a, that's a Survivor.
That is a Survivor just straight, that's for sure.
Yeah. Kind of find this 15,000 $850
drive away, no more pain. No more to pay.
That's a great car. Big, big fan.
I think that I think they are. I think that I think the issue
really cool cool thing. Maya, my name is to have the
sedan of those. Okay.
Yeah this is AC or a serious with the cloth and stereo so yes cloth and stereo Rizzi Ross has just shot us a cracker.
This is a very big soft spot for for lasers.
Oh, goodness me, you know, the way to Maddie's heart?
Don't you do? He does.
Yeah, you some may call me the teacher's pet, but I am that.
You know, I'm saying, I like how they've tried to make it look like, it's doesn't have a lot. Belt and have just put the seat
belt up on the above, on the past shelf in the middle seat, but it does looks really taught. Here is, this is a really tiny
little car. My goodness, the white laser GL,
sedan with blue. Trim, you can't get more 80s
than that. Can you 93,000 clicks to really
Tidy Car. I wonder how many bodies have
been in the boot over the years. Ha ha ha, but apart from that,
it's a genuine car. Yeah, thank you, the gray
interior. What?
With gray knob? Not the not blue, it's actually
great any boss, any last words for either of the the club, the club terminal or the ones for a good, just a cheap run about calf if your finger and before you move on to the quiz, what if you Civics and things? You know, I was saying to you
met the other night, chrome bumper your next car needs to be a chrome bumper car. You start thinking chrome
bumper. I, what's that, really?
It's got to be 60, 70 s, and then you know what?
Can you get 67 years? You know, your Morris mind is
the early Civics. There's still a Around, you
know, I'm the 10K, you scamp's. We've talked about brief,
absolutely. What are ya?
Sometimes took Corollas coronavirus, what is that, you Corollas? Some popped up yesterday, 15
grand. Actually, one popped up on
Facebook Marketplace and it was a 1971 kupe.
So it wasn't it was the fully imported one.
Yeah. No.
It was a really pretty original looking car in a shed at had been on Club plates but it was absolutely been in the shed for a long time. There's a real bum Fine.
Dusty Dusty and the like you sort of.
Did you many know? I'm trying to get up later but
that was 15 grand. I thought.
Well, you know, that's not extraordinary.
It's so clean. No cracks in the dash Interiors
was good, one of my classmates first car exactly the same car.
Has I sent the link to him actually in the Civil War?
Dead me. You're gonna like that?
Yeah, I freaked out how expensive they were.
There's a rule last one in there with a for a GE conversion on car sighs. It's a beautiful car but it's he
wants. He wants good money for it and
to be fair it's probably worth it.
But yeah, that one would be wouldn't be too bad now 30s.
You got to go down in my room. I do thanks for having me on
gents, good to see everyone again.
And hope that the two teachers in the house are getting better and everyone else is doing well as well.
Yeah, thanks for having me on. Look.
Forward to the next one since you're, my anchor is.
So the moral of the story is guys for our listeners out there, if you're after a after a cheap car.
But somebody, somebody bit more, you know, that I'll be working and reliable, it relatively reliable, 15 grand is, is kind of The Sweet Spot, isn't it? Like it's you can get a cracking
car for the money. So I think that's that's the
message that we need to forward. I'll just say Honda Jazz for me,
would be probably my go-to car for people.
I just want to Good colleges Works, cheap to maintain and easy to park, and easy to drive and plenty of room.
So, Mary Poppins had cows Matthew.
It is absolutely, absolutely is perfect in every way it is.
Why Allah didn't use that as their advertising campaign.
With the should have Mary Poppins advertising.
The guy you know like going going through the history of all the of all the the Jazz over time and saying look it doesn't work. It's it's Okay, we got to choose
what? Before we go.
We want you to choose one car which is the car you taking for, and if you think a to work David egx, wagon manual.
I probably won't drive it to work.
I'll take my feet hybrids. It shuttle hybrid.
Thanks very much. Scotty, XF 5, turbo.
Nice. I still want to be able to
overtake people's It'd make a good noise to thank certainly do well gents. It's time for the quiz, the
quiz. All right, let's get into it
now. 10/10 questions plus some bonus questions as we usually do
question 1. Now this is a this is a David
question. He's gonna be putting up any
second. Second, how many generations of
the Honda Accord have been made so far?
Ivan. Ed's got it.
I'm gonna get it wrong. So don't worry, David be fine.
I could go through and count them, but I I think it's I think it's I think it's one, two, three, four, five, six.
I think it's 10:10 is absolutely correct while.
See Edward the issue is here, you've had the count, the music just, I'll just jump in and I'll count them.
Now, why do I got? I got up to the because if we
run through them just Loosely, right?
You got the very first gen Accord 77, then you got this Square e, 1 early 80s Ladies who I've got a nice pop up, lighting, one late 80s, then like those, then you got more round b 1 to B. Then you got the ball bowled
with one in after that. You got the sort of a miracle
anyone capture. What was after that?
That's a homer and the Euro Euro and the hook yo, and the other one. Yeah.
Okay. Yeah.
In the current one. I know there was one of those is
my point. See that's where I get.
I get to be blurry on those newer one, you're not the only one interested. I can't that Homer one and the
euro is two different dimensional country in history was actually the only country that got them.
Both badged as hot as a cord, boys Hunters actually on the record in America. The what we got was the euro was
always a Acura, was it was It was wasn't it?
Yeah, I think they keep checking little letters together to make it real hodgepodge. These are the exorcism DX's TSX
has. There's thiel's, there's all
sorts of different things, but I think the TSX was the designation given to the original hero that we got here.
But yeah, we're the only Market in the world.
I think that got them both badged.
Honda Accord side by side too. Hmm.
That's right. Bonus question.
Why did opal Sue? Unsuccessfully Honda for the
name of the Accord, David David because I had a model called the record correct and they thought it sounded too similar to similar record, it serious. I never heard of that you
operate. Well, the original Commodore was
no based record. Yeah, it was that I knew was a
noble but I didn't know it was a record.
Yeah, re K. Oh yeah, Ricca Lord and I could
actually hold it. What weren't strangers to legal
action in regard to their Names. Because in Australia, the first
of the 3rd gen civets, the wagon was called the Honda shuttle, Civic shuttle and hold them said no you can't call it the Honda.
Yeah we do have the then we have a quality rebadged as suzu and catch and eight seats into and stuck a stripe down the side of and we call that the shuttle so you can't call your car, the shuttle. Yes, I mean, it was just after
that, you go, the more, you know, Jin.
In the morning, person to what car am I manufactured from 1970 and still going till today? Well, what will drive is?
Well known for its size and capability.
Not always having the same name throughout its history but and originally made for the k-class, it continues to offer it continues to be offered in many markets and in its own Market.
In a k, complaint version. David David Suzuki Jimny as a
kid. Jimmy is absolutely correct.
What did they could they, we called it, the LJ 50, didn't?
We originally here? Yep.
We did. We also called it the year of
for a while. Yes, they're in the 80s but
some, but it was always called Jimmy in Japan.
Is that right? That's right.
He's always been a gym in Japan. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
It was called I was looking at what I was called week or something else here earlier to, we called it.
The, I'll tell you the stockmen. This, that was the Ute version.
Yeah, version correct. Yeah.
And we Obviously, it's but it's had many names all over the world. This the, the Samurai and also
badge is the hold and drover. Yeah, correct.
Yep. We've got a home driver in the
club actually. Now really that's cool.
And this the little catch fire was I drove over here.
I drove over there. I drove are everywhere.
That was the ad at the time. I love catch phrases like that.
Like I love those old ads that I just started just so cheesy, it's not even funny and it's okay, bonus bonus question.
Oh, I'm not even doing. What was the Holden embedded
version of the Suzuki? Kerry called?
Oh, I know this. I know it's called the Scurry.
Scurry. That's right.
The scary. Hold on, hold on scary.
I didn't know that. Yeah.
Haven't seen a scary in a while in a hurry.
They weren't in a hurry most of the time either.
Question, 3, Twitter has leaked the GI Yaris potential pricing for what they start at. What have they announced?
Do you mean the Corolla? So, yeah.
The Corolla gee. Did I say yes?
Did I say he's sorry, I'll rephrase the question.
The Corolla gr has been leaked to be retailing for how much at a study by David, 65 incorrect. I would say that's going to be
Center door. Ajar 54 incorrect, 64.
Great day was actually closes its seventy thousand dollars.
Do we know how much power in kilowatts is it set to produce?
Hey, Ed 270 kilowatts and how much 70.
Yeah. Nothing correct.
Thanks, man. David David, 217.
Yes. In our Market.
Yes, I'll pay that it's Raider. 220, I'll pay that.
Yeah, I need to go question 4. What car am I produce from 1974
to present? This small compact car has been
a favorite amongst buyers for many years.
It was originally made to take over from a long-running model in their lineup. Hey, If Alex fagin golf it's a
golf ball, right? Was are in this question.
Hmm. The first generation was sold in
other markets for a very long time.
The Mach 1 when was the last Mach 1 golf sold in worldwide worldwide. That is correct.
Yeah, we do closest to courses to.
I'll allow. Yeah.
David laughs. You guys, you go to David Jose,
94-94. I'll write that down, 94.
Yep, you see I would have said 94 as well.
All right, Mark. Is it with the Cabriolet?
I think, was the last movie they still was lingering.
I might go 95 95 for advert. I will go 91.
You're all way off 2009. The 2009.
There you go. Yeah, bonus bonus question, they
still a golf. Every how many seconds I hate to
think I have a guess. David, every 45 seconds,
incorrect. Ate it every eight seconds
incorrect. 20 seconds incorrect? David's closes again, it's was
40 bucks. They've sold over 35 million of
the bloody things long. God.
Next question, gentlemen, when was the first WRX produced a Ed when, when yes or worldwide or Wendy wheeled wide the professional produced, I think the WRX which was an Impreza WRX correctamundo, we got them in. 94 is probably 93 incorrect.
the for escort was assembled in Australia, where David, David, I think was page, would insert New South Wales.
Incorrect, it broadmeadows incorrect, or elsewhere. 8:56
like Chuang incorrect In Home bushing, and Bush City Limits, Drivin back to the fin. The first Back to the Future.
It was a Buick. I think incorrectly give me that
if you give me the, the, the bread If you the, the chocolates. Oh, David.
David was the Lincoln. It wasn't Scott.
I seriously, wouldn't have a clue.
I couldnt even have a guess. It might have been.
Can I take another guess? I'll come give you the point the
point I just sent interest if it wasn't a Buick, it might have been a Pontiac incorrect. It was a 1946 Ford Coupe, a What
was were exotic than that? Looking color?
Really good question. 8, the Mitsubishi Lancer is currently
still made, obviously, not where our Market.
Where is the current Lancer? Made David?
David, be Thailand, would be incorrect.
It's still my glance. Hmm.
Let's have another Gary David obviously, not for a point.
After after the gents give they give they crack.
