And that's the report from Amy about is the evening before we do the

show listing all the most clicked items, the newsletter.

And on that, I was number three above Jerry's video by three votes,

three watches, three clicks, three clicks, but it was still number three.

So fast forward to this morning, nine o'clock central.

You get a report saying that all yours had an edge to head by three.

Correct.

So an hour or so ago, you got another report that said you had

edged by four now.

So is there an update to that?

Are we standing firm at that?

I wanted you to bask in the glory overnight of your very first win.

I had a lovely night's sleep knowing, well, finally, I got something

that rival Jerry's only to find out this morning that it was not so.

I think yours was BS.

Anyway, I don't think that works.

What I've got, I have my wife, 20, 22, Buick and vision gray car.

She has an avenue package and it's got 82,000 because we do a

lot of highway miles to go to Alabama to see my daughter a lot.

So I'm thinking about either, I thought about extended warranty.

So I looked into that and I said, you know, why don't I just get a new one?

Cause past 82, I'm not going to get much for it.

So I don't have to get rid of it in a trade-in deal.

So I thought looking at the, the Volkswagen Tiguan.

And I didn't know what your thoughts are on that one.

I like it.

It's very different than what you're used to, though.

Yes, sir.

Have you driven one?

No, I haven't.

I'm going to a dealer today and test drive one.

So I didn't know am I wasting my time as I go back to the big, the reason I'm

going to the V-day because they're doing great incentives.

Yeah.

They said you would give you MSRP on their used vehicle with this one dealer.

I don't believe that to be honest with you, but I wanted to try.

No, they're not going to do that.

Trust me, that's just a way to get you in the door.

How do they know that your car doesn't have $5,000 worth of damage on it?

And they're going to give you MSRP.

That's crap.

But the Tiguan is great.

You're not going to like it because you told me how much you love this

and vision. They're they're totally opposite vehicles.

So go ahead and look, but this isn't going to work.

Well, the demand and I guess the interest has made Ram rethink their extension

or the cancellation of their 10 year 100,000 mile warranty.

It was supposed to go in and January 2nd.

But because of all the people who had interested in the dealer feedback,

customers saying something, they are extending that now.

So that should probably spark up a lot of interest in folks who are considering

getting a Ram truck or, you know, maybe even they offer vans too,

as far as the part of this warranty, right? Yeah. Yeah.

So that'll be that'll be kind of cool to see how this affects the the dealers

and the sales of that for the month of January.

Well, yeah, it was a good move to continue to to offer that 10 year

100,000 mile warranty.

That gave them an edge over all the truck competition.

Yeah. Yeah, I would imagine so.

So, yeah, that was I was glad to see that.

Hey, how are you doing?

Doing good, buddy.

You did a great question.

Thank you. Just a quick question.

I purchased a Honda CRV in August, and I never thought anything

about the original final assembly point.

Yeah. But under the big, beautiful bill, it talks about made in USA.

So if your vehicle is a final assembly point is Ontario, Canada,

with your engine and transmission in the USA, is that going to impact taxes?

No, but it will impact whether or not you can

write the interest off on your tax.

That's the only that's the only thing that's going to matter.

If you've got to buy a vehicle made in the US to be able to write

your income tax, the interest on your loan off on your income taxes,

which we haven't been able to do in many, many years.

That's something brand new for this year that took effect

September 1st, if I remember right, but it has to be a symbol.

Final assembly point has to be America.

OK, but the taxes, you can still get the credit for.

I mean, like normal, whatever you paid in your taxes for your new car.

But you can't get the interest, is that right?

That's right. That's correct.

None of the none of the write offs for businesses say

if you use your vehicle for business, no matter where it was made,

you write that off as long as it fits the rest of the criteria.

The only the only kicker is interest on the loan.

And so many people get zero percent and zero point nine.

And, you know, low interest rates today.

I don't know how big a motivator that really is.

OK, well, thank you.

And it's a great experience.

who have size restrictions on their garage.

your car will review and holds.

We tell you which side the filler tank is on.

Really important. Well, it is to some.

Women, especially. Yeah.

Because they they want it on the driver's side.

So they don't have to walk around the car and be vulnerable.

My wife and I are thinking about

getting a new vehicle and what brought it on was our

we've been driving a Tahoe and we got T-boned by Deer,

did extensive amount of damage, close to $14,000.

And we're looking at a traverse

in the premier or high country package

and or an enclave in the preferred package.

Yep. And we've driven the

traverse. In fact, we've owned a traverse.

We've we've owned two of them and we really liked them.

I do, too. I love the traverse.

But just comparing it to the enclave.

What I saw on the Internet was that

long term, they don't hold their value like the traverse does.

Yeah, I disagree with that.

I think they actually hold.

For me, the biggest difference between those two

is the trim levels inside.

You get more, you get softer leather.

You get more wood with the enclave.

But the biggest issue is quietness.

The enclave is quieter inside.

Other than that, they're identical.

Every new car looks great, but has to fit you.

I just had a quick question.

My son was looking to get a Chevy Colorado,

but I wanted to know what's the difference

between the Ford Ranger and the same kind of truck?

Yeah, they're very similar.

They're very similar in size.

You know, they're different in other ways.

I haven't had the Colorado in several years.

I had the Ranger last year.

I thought it was extremely good truck for the money.

So, you know, I don't think he could go wrong with either one.

I I'm probably a little partial to the Ranger

because of my history.

I used when I was in the Ford business,

the Ranger was always a really, really good truck.

They just ran forever.

I think I think the Colorado is probably more stylish.

And I think the Colorado's got a nicer interior,

but they're very similar in many, many ways.

So is he between those two when he's when he's choosing?

Well, he just he jumped the gun

and he went and got the Colorado.

But he got it at 7% for 80 something months.

I think it's going to be total like 30 K for it.

Woo, so a lot.

Yeah, for 84 months that that I

wish he hadn't done that.

That's that's a mistake.

But, you know, when interest rates start to fall

and I think they'll fall throughout this year,

he probably should go refinance that thing

at a better rate on a shorter term.

So if he refinances and he can put it down

and get it down to 60 months or 48 months at a lower rate

and keep the payment about the same,

I think that would be a really good move for him.

Because if he ever sits down and figures out

how much interest he's paying on that 84 month loan,

he's going to want to throw up.

Trust me. So keep an eye.

He's got the disability right now.

He's got a burden.

I wish I wish we had a talk beforehand, brother.

Welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro.

I'm Todd Shambles. It is award season, I guess, anyway.

We're talking about the award season, not only for movies and music and pop culture,

but really for vehicles and one of the most prestigious, most credible

honors in the auto industry.

I handed out recently the twenty twenty six

Nactoy, the North American car truck and utility award winners named.

There are three that are named here in the article.

The Jerry left the newsletter for you.

They came out yesterday.

They have to do with the car of the year, the truck of the year

and the vehicle of the year.

Any surprises on any of these to you? No, not really.

I generally agree with that list every single year.

Yeah, you think that's that's journalist and folks that work in the industry.

And automotive journalist, so highly regarded.

And it's sort of a badge of honor kind of a thing.

It is. It's the biggest award of the year.

How can I help you?

Well, Jerry, I hope you guys, you and Todd can help out.

My daughter had had a car.

Hyundai 2017.

SUV Santa Fe, I think.

Yeah. And then the engine was recalled and a long story short.

They had the car so long that they were given her brand new with the stickers in

the windows, loaners to drive while they had the car.

And now her baby that she didn't even have when they took possession of her car

is now pushing 16 months.

And now they're rushing because they had the paint the car.

They agreed to put an inspection sticker on it.

They called her to ask if they could pay for it.

It's just being suspect in her mind now

because they're being so nice out of the clear blue.

And she's concerned if she should have any concerns of what to ask them.

Should she sign for her car?

They had it so long, they did damage to it somehow, and the car had to be painted.

She don't know if she should get an attorney.

It's just the big.

But the car that they gave her as a loaner got so old, they took it back and gave her

the next year's brand new model.

So did the recall get repaired?

They said they've changed the engine.

We don't. She didn't ask if it was new, rebuilt or what.

They did change it.

Did she have the oil consumption problem?

Yes, sir. OK, they put a new one in there.

They're being nice to her, Mark, because I told her they're being well,

they're being nice because they wrecked her car and they're trying to make up

for that, which I think is very commendable.

But no, I don't I don't know of any reason why she should be suspect

or why she would need an attorney.

People people think that all car dealers are just bad, horrible people.

And let me tell you something.

There's some of the best people I've ever met.

Now, there are bad car dealers, but there's bad doctors and there's bad police

officers and there's bad radio talk show hosts.

There's no question about that.

But it sounds to me like she got a great one and she ought to stick with them.

OK, what about trading in?

Is this a good time for her to try and trade in?

But she said, I don't know if I ever want another Hyundai.

If she's got a Hyundai with a brand new engine, why would she want to get rid of it?

Well, that's true, too.

What's the value of the car, though, with a brand new engine?

Does it go out, go down? It goes up. It goes up.

OK, got a brand new engine. Yeah.

And a car was forty five thousand.

Look, she's she's tainted on this car.

I get that. But but tell her try to appeal to her to go back to the time

she bought it and get that I'm in love with my car feeling again,

because she's got an almost new car.

She's been through a lot with it, but they've they've given her loaners.

They wrecked her car. They fixed it.

They gave her an inspection.

They're doing the right things.

They gave her the longest test ride of a Santa Fe twenty four model and twenty five model.

There you go.

And believe me, they didn't have to do that.

I know they didn't. They didn't want to give her a loaner.

Yeah, so I tell her to just readjust her thoughts to I got a brand new car.

I'm going to keep it. It's probably paid for now, right?

Oh, yeah, it was paid for when it went in.

Yeah, so she's got no car payments in the car with a brand new engine.

Life's good. Focus on the baby.

Yes, sir, I'm entertaining in the thought by a half ton pickup.

I can only focus then on the Chevy or GMC.

Yeah, they've got this turbo max four cylinder.

Yep. I'm old school and I think V8 is the only way to go.

But I'm kind of intrigued by this four cylinder with three hundred ten horsepower.

And I guess it has some kind of fuel mitigation.

Yeah, it does.

You know, what what are what have you learned from about it?

Is it pretty reliable?

It has been super reliable so far, William.

Now, this is a this is a fairly new engine.

But I'll tell you, I'm like you.

There was a time when I wouldn't have to pick up with anything but a V8.

Today, if I were looking, it would be a six cylinder,

but I would not be afraid of that Chevy four cylinder either.

Everybody swears by it.

I mean, everybody I've helped get one of those that I've heard back from

has said they were shocked at how much power that it had.

They were really pleased with the fuel economy and so far no issues whatsoever.

So, you know, here's what I would do.

I would drive one and make sure you're OK with it.

And when I reviewed it, I was fine with it and I got a heavy foot.

I I stick my foot in everything I drive and the more the faster it will go,

the happier I am and that truck was fine.

I mean, I had no issues getting up on the freeway.

If you if you floorboard it at 75 miles an hour, you could feel it.

It was smooth.

It ran great.

The gas mileage was super.

And it still had a decent amount of towing capacity

way more than I thought it would.

So I drive it and see what you think.

Oh, I have to do that.

What do I do?

I run 100 miles out interstate 10 and then come back the next day.

I've another 100 miles and that's I'll be about 90 or 95 percent

of the driving I do.

But I kind of I kind of got a heavy foot, too.

Yeah, so just make sure that it's OK for you to get home.

Yeah, I've got a 20 foot camper trailer, but I have no intention of pulling it.

But then again, I kind of sort of like if I had the option,

maybe I could actually what is you think it pull a 20 foot

camper trailer, I get 3,800 pounds empty weight.

Oh, no question. It pulled the hell out of it. No problem.

I'm telling you.

So I got classic Chevy and I've got classic GMC, both at my website.

Talk to them. They'll take amazing care of you. I promise you.

Find out the difference between four wheel drive and all wheel drive

called the Carpro show at one hundred nine two six seventy seven seventy seven.

Well, finally, some good news as we start the brand new year.

Apparently, gas buddy is estimating that for this year,

the yearly national average price of gasoline will fall back below three bucks

a gallon nationally for the first time since COVID-19.

That is good news.

I will tell you here lately.

Now, we're in North Texas, where we're broadcasting from, and I will tell you

that there have been a couple of days in the last couple of weeks.

There are some some gas stations dipping below two dollars a gallon

if you catch on a certain day. Yeah, there is.

I haven't seen it, but I've seen people talking about it.

Yep. So one ninety seven, one ninety eight, something like that.

On average, I think we're between two fifteen to two fifty,

depending upon what part of town and what station you go to.

But yeah, that'd be nice to get that down below three dollars a gallon.

Certainly is going to help a lot of people with decisions

they're making as to what car they buy, I would imagine.

Yeah, I did.

It's certainly a consideration, but it shouldn't be a big one

because it can change easily. It can change overnight.

Sure can. You've seen it.

Yes, we certainly have. Yes.

Drew, in Liberty Hill, welcome, Drew, what can I do for you?

Yes, sir, Jerry and Todd.

OK, I have a question about your opinion on the twenty six

Chevy Colorado Trail Boss.

I know you've had a couple of collars that have already asked about the Colorado.

Yeah. And I wanted to get some more information about the two point seven

turbo engine. I had a previous Colorado

with the V six in it, and I really like that thing.

And I just wanted to maybe get a comparison.

You know, where this thing, where this engine really shines

is it's putting out three hundred and ten horses, which is great.

But the torque four hundred and thirty pound feet of torque.

That that's why that's why this thing feels like it's got a V eight under the hood.

Four hundred and thirty pound feet of torque in a truck the size of a Colorado

is just outstanding.

I mean, yeah, it's massive. Yeah, it is.

And, you know, from the standpoint of long term reliability,

it's too early to know.

But yeah, with all the testing that your mothers do and it does.

And with the kind of products that they've been putting out,

particularly the last four or five years, they've been putting out some great stuff.

And if I can get four hundred and thirty pound feet of torque

that's going to propel me off the line at, you know, break next speed

and still get good gas mileage when I want to behave, which isn't very often.

Yeah, that's a great combination for me.

I think it's, you know, it's this this engine reminds me of when the EcoBoost line

came out with Ford and people were hesitant about it.

You know, and now the EcoBoost has been out 16, 17 years

and turned out to be just a great engine.

I think this one's going to turn out to be the same way.

OK, one other question.

There are recommending a seven thousand five hundred miles between oil changes.

Do you think that's a little bit much for a turbo engine?

No, I'm probably going to be running hotter than I don't.

Unless you're in an area that is extreme heat

or you're constantly driving on dusty roads, dirt roads, outside of that.

Now, the oil oil is is so good today that, you know, all of us that used to do

the three thousand mile oil change, which is what my daddy trained me to do.

I mean, it's just it's just a waste of money.

I mean, you just don't need to do it.

And if you go to synthetic or even a synthetic blend,

you can take that up over ten thousand.

Now, you'll pay more for the oil.

But, you know, the big the big thing.

Drew is don't scrimp on the filter.

Use a good oil, use a good filter.

If you go seventy five hundred miles, you'll be golden throughout.

I promise you, it may be it may be overkill at seventy five hundred.

But certainly that's plenty.

I promise you don't need to do any more than that.

Or is that good today?

I was I was looking for a Toyota Tundra and I went and found what I was looking for in San Antonio.

And so I got it and it was kind of toward the end of the day.

I mean, kind of rushing the dealership is kind of, you know, getting pretty close to closing

and kind of rushing through the paperwork.

And in there was something about acknowledged that that I that I got.

Two keys or something like that are not only got one key inside.

They said, but go ahead and check it because we'll make sure you don't get one.

If even if there is not one, I said, well, I got to have two keys.

Yeah, they told me tell me it'll be OK that they don't take care of it.

Well, I didn't they didn't take care of it because I got my truck now and I still don't have the second key.

And they're trying to say, well, we can get you one, but we got it.

You know, it's going to be four hundred dollars and we're not not 10 percent off, which I think is not good.

So I want to know, do you know if there's some other place I can go besides

the dealership to get a replacement job?

Yeah, there is. There's there's several ways to do it.

But if I had something in writing that said I was going to get two keys,

I'd be shoving it down that dealership's throat.

Well, unfortunately, I didn't.

I didn't, you know, I checked the box and he told me it was going to be OK.

But but and I really thought OK, you know, I want him.

But he didn't he didn't budge.

He just had 10 at 10 percent.

I said, that's not terrible.

But that's a horrible dealership, then don't go back.

But there's a couple of ways to do it.

You can most lock Smith's.

How far from San Antonio are you?

About about 90 miles. OK.

You can go to Batteries Plus and they can sell you a fob and program it.

Or a guy that I just happened on to by mistake in San Antonio,

Tom's key, Tom's key, T O M S K E Y dot com.
