into that thing. And so this week, I had the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country,

their top of the line. But that came in handy during the ice storm.

Yeah, that four-wheel drive certainly did. And I'll tell you, I drive and review so many pickups

that are great big four-wheel drive, three-quarter tons, diesels, off-road truck. This was just

a half ton luxury truck. And it was so enjoyable. I really enjoyed spending it. In fact, I got to

keep it an extra few days because of the weather that we had. Yeah, tell them what you were going to

get. Oh, yeah. It's a shame. Yeah, I was scheduled Monday for the all new Dodge Charger. Oh,

the six pack. Oh, 500 and some odd horses under the hood. Just a beautiful car.

And then work out. No, it didn't because of ice and snow that hit Dallas, which is if you

noticed last week we were you heard a rerun of the week before show is because we couldn't get to

the studio. Yeah. So by Wednesday, when they could actually get me the Charger, something had happened

and they said that Stalantis needed the car back. And you theorize it may have been because of the

car show in Houston. I think it I think it probably ended up at the Houston Auto Show.

Yeah. I can't. I don't know that. I'll probably find out at some point.

But you had a good car to drive around, even though, you know, the Charger would have been

really nice to have had. Oh, I'll get it again. Yeah. But in its place, they sent me the Kia K4

hatchback. I'm not dissing. I have a key. I love my key. Why are you laughing?

Well, it's a little different car than the experience than maybe the Dodge Charger

with the 500 plus horses on it. Yeah. Not quite that many horses on the Kia. 190.

All right, then. Probably good gas mileage though. Yeah. Oh, really good gas. Nice car. Fun car.

Yeah. Kia makes a good car. I mean, I used to be a little afraid of it because it just didn't

know. But once I dove in, I'm a big fan of Kia and Hyundai too, for that matter. I love Kia.

Then this one at 24 grand. I'm sorry. That's not true. 32 grand. All right. But it's super loaded

too. Yeah. I mean, it's got power moonroof, heated seats, power seats. That might be a

perfect car for somebody starting out. Heat and steering wheel 36 miles to the gallon,

10,000 mile warranty. Yeah, buddy. It's pretty sweet. For nowadays, 32 grand when the average

car is over 50. Over 50. There you go. Yeah. Let's go to East Texas and talk to John and

Tyler. John, what's going on, pal? Well, good morning. Thank you for taking my call. Before I

get to my question, I want to say thank you. I have sent you emails several times over the last

few years and you have always answered them very promptly and with good advice. So I want to say

thank you for that. Thank you, John, for bringing that up. Now I'm going to have 57,000 emails

this afternoon. Well, try that out and see. Yeah, you can put Todd's email out there.

Yeah, because he's so good at car advice. Exactly. I'm the guy for that. Holy cow.

So this is a very wide open question for you. Just kind of an almost a dream question. My

wife drives a 24 Escalade and she really likes the vehicle, but starting to have some mechanical

problems and still under warranty, but we're not getting much satisfaction. And she's just kind

of the point where I want something new. So we want to stay with something large. She's had

suburban and Yukon's and such over the last 25 years. So we want to stay with something large.

We might be willing to go a step lower in size wise. And going all electric is an option and

going with any of the luxury brands might be an option as well. So with all that, what would you

recommend? Yeah, no doubt. I tell you, if she doesn't get radical on you and start talking

electric cars, the Lincoln Navigator is really something special. And I'd never been a Navigator

fan before the new one came out the 2025. But I reviewed the 2025 black label extended length

Navigator and it was spectacular. Now, I would tell you, I think personally, I think the quality

on it was top notch. And I think quality is actually better than the Escalade. And maybe the

reason is simple. They build, they sell all the Escalades they can build when they start getting

low in inventory, they start making them faster. And I don't think they make them as well at certain

times of the year. The Navigator was wonderful. If she goes electric, I'm also going to tell you

to look at the I would look at the Cadillacs in electrics. I think GM's making the best

electrics out there. Buying a new car truck is like looking at pictures of Kate Upton.

You see the model you want, but don't know whether you can afford it. It was a lot of money.

Welcome back to the car pro show, Jerry Reynolds, the car pro and me, Todd Chambliss,

every single year. It's over a hundred cars, sometimes two a week. Sometimes one a week depends

on how the week goes with the weather and all that. But this week, what are you driving?

Coming up, I've got the Audi RS3. The Audi RS3. It's a hot rod. Oh, is it really? Yes. What kind

of horsepower are we talking? We're in the 400. That's pretty impressive. On a,

look, what looks to be a mid-sized car. Okay. Sedan, which I don't get to drive very much.

And I don't, I've never had the car for review. And when they called me Friday yesterday and said,

you want, we just got in an Audi RS3, do you want it? And I went, well, yeah, I mean,

that sounds okay. And I hadn't done any research on the car, didn't know the car. I knew what it was.

You probably had heard of it. Oh, yeah. And I knew, I knew it was a rare car. They just don't build

many of them. But my guy at the company that supplies the cars says,

you're one of very few reviewers that are eligible for this car. Eligible. Yeah. I wonder what that

means. That means I don't trust this car with. So you don't crash cars often and you take care of

them and you return them as good as they came, that kind of thing. And I got a big audience.

Well, yeah, you do. So that works out. You know, I don't know. It was, I think it was a compliment.

Well, sure you should. I think that'd be kind of fun to see, you know, what the review,

how that stacks up, whether the cars like that, because I'm not familiar with it.

We're going to find out. Well, cool. We should return now to John and Tyler on the phone to

pick up where we left off. John, you were up next on the car pro show.

John, sorry about that. The clock got me. I ran out of time. And

time waits for no one. That's exactly right.

And especially the other 66 stations we're on right now. So we were talking about the Escalade.

You mentioned that she might want to go electric. And I was about to tell you about my

test drive and week of reviewing the 2026. I think might have been 2025 Escalade IQ.

Oh, yeah. It was outstanding. It was amazing.

If I went, if I were going electric SUV, and I'll say again, I think General Mutters is making

the best electrics out there, including Tesla. But if I were going to get a large electric SUV,

it would be the Escalade. If I were getting the gas in a large one, it would be the navigator.

But I would also look at the QX80. And I've got a review up on that one, too.

And it was much improved and a real joy to drive. But personally, for me, my favorite

would be that electric Escalade. What about like the one step down the size of the Escalade

electric? Nice. But man, they want a lot of this pricey. Yeah, it was 150,

almost 160 on the window sticker. But listen to this, I took a screenshot when I was watching

the auction on January the 18th of this year, right? 2026 Escalade regular length four by four

sport electric sold at auction to a dealer for 121 grand with 800 miles on it.

The moral of that story is if you're going to buy any electric car, either lease it or buy

used one with low miles. But I have not had the Vistic, which is the step down from the Escalade.

I have had the Lyric, which is an even further step down from the Escalade. The Vistic has

got a third row seat. The Lyric does not. But it was equally as wonderful as the Escalade.

I just like the size of the Escalade. But this Vistic might be the in between

that would fit you guys if you end up going electric. Okay. How many miles?

How many miles does she drive in a year? 28 miles, 20,000 a year.

She's going to spend a lot of time at Chargers.

Yeah. We go back and forth to Dallas a lot. So, you know, that, you know,

wonderful, huge convenience store there in Terrell would be a good stop for us.

Yeah. Yep. Go to Bucky's. I don't know if they got Chargers or not, but

they do. Yep. Okay. Good. But she's going to spend, she may, at that kind of mileage,

she may spend more time charging than what she's happy with. If you end up coming into

Dallas, Fort Worth, use my dealers, John. They're all at my website and look at my reviews.

Hi. Hi, Carol. Nice talking to you, Jerry and Todd. Okay. I have a couple of things.

What is a good used car site to look for used cars and what should one avoid?

What kind of, it depends. Are you looking for something fairly new or are you looking for

something kind of old? Well, you know, something that still has good features but not, my son

had an accident but it wasn't his fault and the car was totaled and looking either for an RX

or an ES. For him, the, maybe RX and for my husband, a different situation, an ES, looking at the Lexus

or, you know, what, what to, you know, and not too much money. They're not going to give him

much money. And now he got a letter that said, oh, on the evaluation, which wasn't much,

like they found some other issue or something. I don't know. He hasn't let me know what the

contact is yet on that. Well, I understood. Go ahead. Carol, the answer to your question is

if you go to my website, carpro.com, you can search for used cars there. If you'll send him there,

anything that he finds will be at one of my dealers and he'll have my contact information

with it, the whole thing. Now, the reason I asked the question earlier was most of my dealers aren't,

you know, if a car is more than five or six years old, unless it's really super clean,

they don't, they don't typically stock them because there's too much liability.

Okay. So if he's looking for something, and I'm looking at, go ahead. No, if he's looking for

something, a NASCAR 2013, go ahead. Or I was looking at, let's see, I'm just an RX 350. It's

too many for my husband. And the other one's a six cylinder. I don't think I want to go below

we talked about earlier in the show between the US news and world reports best cars for the money.

You've got the list of the JD power residual value awards that's listed here. And in addition to

that, you've also got the KBB best buy picks for 2026 on here. There were some interesting

entries on here. The Nissan Leaf, the best new model. Were you surprised by that or were you not?

I was a little surprised. Yeah. I think they went for

price point on it. I understand that. It was and look, the leaf is much improved from what it was.

Yeah. Yeah. But the reality is, it's also probably the least expensive electric,

fully electric car you can buy. It's still that little bitty compact car, right? Pretty, pretty

small. Yeah. I remember when they first came out and saw them at the Dallas Fort Worth car show

there at the Fairgrounds and it was kind of novel when they first came out the leaf. And

I was surprised to see it on any kind of best list of anything. Not that I thought it was a bad car.

It was just, it's not really had a lot of acclaim to it. No, it hasn't. And it was

one of the first in the United States. Yeah. The very first one I ever reviewed.

Oh, no.

Stranded me on the side of the road in the dead of winter.

Well, that's not going to get a good review. It was 2010 when that happened. Oh, man.

Just shut down. You just shut down. That's rough. Let's talk to David in Lincoln, California. David,

welcome. Thank you, sir. Good morning, gentlemen. Hey, Jerry, I have a question for you. So a little

purchase our vehicles and we drive them until the wheels fall off. So we have a 2008 Toyota

Sequoia and I understand that you're really, this show is not really geared towards mechanical

questions, but I'm hoping you can provide me with some guidance. So 2008 Toyota Sequoia,

loved this vehicle more than any vehicle I've ever had in my life, has 150,000 miles on it,

never left a stranded once in the entire time we've had the vehicle. But the four-wheel drive

actuator has gone out. And so we took it to have it assessed and it's going to be about $25,000

to $3,000. And I just wanted to get your opinion. Do you feel that that we should go ahead and move

forward with repairs or look for a new vehicle? Oh, I'd get that one repaired 100%. That thing

has got so much life left in it that you can't wear a Sequoia out. It's one of the best SUVs

ever made and you like it and it's been good to you. We love it. Absolutely get it fixed. You

don't need to do anything but that. Did you get that price from a dealership or a repair facility?

No, sir. We just went to a local repair facility in our area. That's good because I was thinking

that sounds very reasonable for that repair. So if it were... Look, you know how much a new Sequoia is

today? Yeah, I looked at their like 80,000 poppers. They're super expensive. I think the one I reviewed

was 85 and it was wonderful. But if I can spend $2,500 on a car that I love or $85,000 on something

else, I'm going to go with the $2,500. Okay. All right. I think that was sort of the direction

that we were leaning in, but I just wanted to get your opinion. You know, we're having some other

little like minor like the sunroof motors gone out, the radio, you know, just little things

going wrong with it. Of course. I mean, look, it's an 18-year-old vehicle. If this were an 08

Chevy Tahoe or Ford Expedition or Nissan Armada, I wouldn't tell you the same thing. I'd tell you

to get rid of it. Don't put any more money into it. But a Sequoia? Okay. Oh, dude, you can't go wrong

there. Okay. Very good. And I just real quickly wanted to do a shout out. I have a Toyota Camry

Hybrid that I absolutely love. I just love that car. And you know, I don't know if you've had a

chance to review those vehicles, but they are just so, so wonderful. So anyway, I really appreciate

and Todd, I have to tell you, your voice, you have the most best radio voice I think I've ever

heard in my entire life. Oh my gosh. Thank you. I appreciate that. Thank you. Let me get David's

Hello, Jerry. Hi, Bruce. I'm listener. I bought my last two vehicles through CarPro. Good. Just

wait in my car. We'll always, we'll always go that route. Looking to replace my wife's Audi of 2019.

And I've looked at Atlas, Palisade, Traverse, Acadia, Enclave. I will probably look at the Toyota

and the Explorer. What are your thoughts on something of that size? Which Audi does she have?

U7. Okay. All right. So on the larger side of the midsize SUVs and we still need a third row seat,

right? No, I really don't need it. Don't use it. Okay. Well, that might open up some extra,

some more vehicles for you. Are you guys, how many miles are on that Audi?

86,000. 86,000. All right. I love the Traverse. I've reviewed it numerous times and this new

Traverse is something really terrific. If you don't need that third row seat,

but you like good cargo area, the Mazda CX-70 is wonderful and it comes in a hybrid and I love

the hybrid in that thing. So I would, I would look that direction. The Buick Envision does not

have a third row seat. It's a great vehicle, great driving vehicle. You mentioned Enclave.

Enclave, yeah. And it, you know, whatever she gets is going to have all the bells and whistles

and that's what she wants. So the Enclave was dressed pretty well. Yep. It's super nice. That's

probably, probably a great choice right there. In fact, I talked to one of your, one of your

dealers this morning and got a quote on an Enclave in Houston. Good. I've not reviewed the new Enclave,

but I've had it in the past and I loved it. If I were looking at a Toyota, it would be the Grand

Highlander. She will like that. It's almost a Lexus and I mean that. It, it this, everybody thinks

it's just a fancy Highlander. It's not. It's, it's a completely different vehicle and it is

wonderful. And then if you want to step up and go luxury, the Lexus TX, Lexus TX,

and I got good dealers for all those. You've heard that when light gives you lemons, you should make

lemonade. Well, if you buy a car that's a lemon, you can't make a drink out of it.

Boy, the car industry is just interesting when you read stories like this in the newsletter

that was in Friday's newsletter, which by the way, if you don't get it, you should.

and get them here after. There's news of a group of Colorado dealers who were suing the state because

they gave a license, a dealer license to a new scout dealership, a direct dealer. And they're

suing because there's a myriad of reasons, but there is a tie, of course, because as you told

me just a few moments ago, Volkswagen bought scout. Yes, Volkswagen bought scout. It's a good

looking vehicle. I don't know when it's coming out, but yes, Colorado approved direct sales

to it for scout. So the factory can sell direct to the consumer. It's not unlike the Tesla situation

here in Texas. Correct, yes. Tesla can't sell cars in Texas because Texas has a law that

a automotive manufacturer cannot sell direct to the public. And this is a sticky subject.

And I can defend the fact that people think they want to buy direct from the factory,

but they don't understand the implications of that. Yes. They don't, they will, if you buy direct

from the factory, skip the dealer, you're going to pay a winter sticker price every single time

you buy a car. There is no competition. So what keeps car prices down is the competition between

the dealers. Yes. Service. You buy direct from the manufacturer and you have a service problem,

who are you going to call? Not them. No, they're not going to help. No. They built it. Yep. Whereas

the dealer get on the phone with the factory as a good customer of the factory and get something

done. So people, people always, and I've seen this in the flesh. I've seen the factory own

dealerships. It's a disaster. It's a complete total disaster. You think you're saving money,

but you're not because, as you said, you're a painful window sticker. You have no advocate

to help you in a situation and are incentives off the table too? I mean, you wouldn't get that

either, right? No, you wouldn't get incentives. Nothing. They don't have to. Yeah. So factories

would love to cut out the dealerships, but they know they can't handle it. Right. Right. They can,

I'm telling you, as appealing as it sounds, it's not. Yeah. And I've seen it. Yeah. Let's go to DJ

oh, good. First, let me just say, I so appreciate what you and Todd are doing on these lines. I've

No, I have a RX. I'm looking at another used car. My family came up with a

someone that's selling their Maxima, and they said that they wanted to ship it down to me

using a U-Ship. Is that something that you are familiar with in that process? I'm not familiar

with U-Ship. I am real leery about transport companies. I got to be honest with you. I've seen

so many of them that just they never do what they say. They're never on time.

They're insurance and what it should be. The one that you've found or one your kids found may be

great. I don't know. I'm not familiar with them, but I'm just telling you to be careful. What year

Maxima? Well, it's funny that it is. It's a 2013 Maxima. And how many miles are on it? 80. How

many miles are on your Lexus RX? 160. I don't know that you're gaining anything. Given the life

expectancy of a Nissan Maxima versus the life expectancy of a Lexus RX, you might be better

off keeping what you got. And doing repairs on it? Yeah. You're not going to have a major repair,

at least not for another 50 to 60,000 miles. I'm not trying to talk you out of it, DJ. I'm

not. I'm just giving you something to think about. You're driving one of the best SUVs ever made in

the history of automobiles. And they're usually good to 250,000 miles. So give that some thought.

I wish I could help with the transport company. I just don't know anybody.
