On The CarPro Show.
Well, hi there and Merry Christmas to you.
I know that's not politically correct anymore, but I don't give a damn.
It's Merry Christmas and it will be as long as I'm on the air.
That's right.
So I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
And Thanksgiving starts the car buying season.
It's not just the Christmas season, it's the car buying season too.
So here we are at the best time of year to get a bargain.
It's been that way forever and ever.
I told you earlier in this year, I wasn't sure that this year wasn't going to be different
because everything has been different.
But guess what?
It's not.
It's still Toyotathan.
It's still December 2.
Remember the winter sales event?
All of them that were included in the very first CarPro song that we debuted last week,
which is the 12 days of CarPro Christmas.
That was in your newsletter yesterday.
If you're a subscriber, if not, you should be.
And you can do that easily at CarPro.com.
But I want to talk to people who are making a decision between now and the end of the year
because it's a critical time.
If you put it off and put it off and put it off, don't put it off any longer.
And don't, for goodness sakes, please be one of those people who say to me,
I'm going to buy a car right after the first of the year.
Well, there'll be cars for sale, but they won't have near the incentives
that they have right now.
Don't make that mistake.
I promise you between the incentives right now, it's the end of the month.
The dealers have to wrap November up by Monday night.
And the incentives run through Monday night.
So everything's right right now.
The trade values are sky high.
The incentives are the best we've seen since before COVID.
The selection is the best we've seen since before COVID.
Our dealers are overstocked and they are ready to make deals.
Quick, easy deals.
They're not thinking, they're not, this is volume time.
They're not thinking profit.
They're thinking volume.
And that's the truth.
That's the mindset that you get into when you own a car dealership
or you run a car dealership and you take Thursday off
and then Friday you come in and it's volume.
That's all that's on your mind selling cars.
So let's talk 800-926-7777-800-926-7777.
This is the time that you can get through.
Later in the show, we're on for three solid hours.
So keep that number and when you hear us go to a break
or somebody hangs up, call it then.
One more time, 800-926-7777.
This is The Car Pro Show.
Todd Chambliss is my co-host and he made it in today.
You hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
We had a great Thanksgiving.
Hope you did too.
I did.
Yeah, we had family over.
Family left.
Well, one member left yesterday.
The rest left this morning.
The exact amount of time that, you know,
family should be together three or four days
is typically about the time that we do.
That's a pretty good amount.
I like that.
And we had a great visit.
We had lots of food.
It was all good stuff and we've got way too much food left.
Actually, but it was it was fantastic
and a good holiday restful.
Didn't work at all on Thanksgiving,
which is a rarity for me a lot of years.
So it was a good, good holiday.
Yeah, it was same here.
It was nice.
Lots of football, which is my favorite thing
on Thanksgiving besides the turkey and dressing.
Yeah, absolutely.
So, you know, in the free newsletter this week,
we gave you our Thanksgiving prayers
for our military and our police officers.
And a lot of you guys clicked on that and read those.
Those are really, really important.
If you missed them,
if you're not a newsletter subscriber,
you can subscribe right now
and you'll get yesterday's in your inbox.
But there was a lot of things
that were Christmas themed this week.
Being careful parking at the mall, tips for that.
How to safely transport your holiday meal.
That's a big one.
Kevin's famous recipes.
I had the make-ahead mashed potatoes yesterday.
Did you?
How were they?
Oh, they were fantastic as always.
Yeah.
So, you know, lots going on there.
The incentive guide.
Our holiday gift guide.
Oh, my goodness.
If you got a car guy or a car gal in your life,
you got to see our holiday car guide.
Amy Plemons, our executive producer,
put it one together this year.
She does it every year.
And I'll tell you what, this year,
she was absolutely, she knocked it out of the park.
There's some cool stuff in there.
Yes, there is.
All right, thechase.com.
Carpro Hotline is, I've got one left at 800-926-7777.
And Patrick in Houston dialed that one.
Hello, Patrick.
What can I help you with?
Hi.
Thanks for taking my call.
You bet, buddy.
My son, my son turned 16 a few months ago.
And over the past few years, he saved up half.
And I told him I'd match all of his money.
And he wants to buy a truck.
Yeah.
And I am interested in just finding,
helping him find the safest truck that I can.
Maybe something that has some automated driving,
things that would help crash avoidance.
I'm just looking for advice on what some of the safer trucks on the market are.
Give me an idea of between the two of you.
How much money are we talking about spending on a truck?
Probably 45 to 50,000.
He was able to save up 20,000.
Wow.
At 16 years old?
Well, he's been doing it since 13.
He saved every penny.
What an extraordinary young man.
Bless his heart.
Yeah, I'm pretty proud of him.
Makes me want to pitch in, pay part of it.
There's no unsafe trucks, Patrick.
And that's the truth.
They've all got all the latest safety features.
For young people, blind spot monitoring
is, in my mind, critical as is automatic emergency braking.
And they're all going to have that.
At that kind of price, you're talking about a,
you know, no more than a couple of year old truck.
And so they're all going to have the safety features
that you're looking for.
No worries there at all.
You know, I think for me, when my son turned 16,
God rest his soul, I bought him an extended cab.
I didn't want a bunch of young men in a four-door crew cab
truck because of distraction, because especially the guys
like to kind of horse around.
I don't know if you'll have any luck finding that,
but I would certainly tell you that whatever truck you find,
will it be a Ford, a Chevy, a Tundra?
Tundra's the heaviest truck out there and a halftime.
And there is wisdom in the heaviest truck out there.
I've got great dealers at carpro.com that'll take good care of you guys
on a used one as well.
Don't let buyer's remorse be your experience with your next vehicle.
Call the CarPro show for free advice at 1-800-926-7777.
May have your word cut out for you.
If you pride yourself on knowing all the classic cars,
I'm able to guess that pretty well.
This one is a fairly retro.
This is way back in the day.
We're talking about the CarPro Classic Car of the Week.
Every single week on Facebook, on our CarPro page there,
we have a Classic Car of the Week for you to guess
the correct year-making model.
If you guess it correctly, then you're in the running for an auto heat shield.
We give one of those away every single week.
Made in the USA and good for cold and hot weather,
it doesn't matter and perfectly cut to the windshield of your car.
You can start at carpro.com and go to the bottom of the page.
There is a Facebook link.
Go there and make your guess and good luck to you.
There you go.
And the top clicked item in this week's free weekly newsletter
was my car review of the 2026 Toyota Crown Hybrid.
You said you were surprised by it that early.
I was because, you know, I don't get a lot of questions on cars anymore, on sedans.
And so for it to be at the top of the list, and it was pretty.
I mean, I think the picture probably sucked some people in.
But if you're just not an SUV person, I'm the first one to admit I'm not.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm, I want to, I want to sedan.
That's just me.
But in the marketplace doesn't reflect that as much anymore.
No, no, that's not, but this one for the money and for the fuel economy
in the 40 mile per gallon in a full sized car, you know, at 50 grand.
That's competitive too.
Oh my goodness.
There's nothing out there that compares with this car.
I mean, the only thing that's even close is the camera.
Yeah, that's true.
And it's nice too.
But this one is, this car sets up so well.
It sets up the visibility out of this car was just amazing.
So it's not low to the ground.
It's a little high to it.
So, you know, if you're aging, getting in and out of it is much easier
than most sedans that you typically fall into.
And then you kind of got to climb out of them.
This one you slide in, slide out.
It's awesome.
That's great.
TheChase.com Carpro Hotline 800-926-7777.
I've got one line if you want to grab it 800-926-7777.
We go to Sam and Newport Beach, California.
Hello, Sam.
Welcome and Merry Christmas, pal.
Hi, Jerry.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks for taking my call.
You bet, buddy.
I've got probably a dull question.
I've got a couple of pickup trucks that I've had in my business,
a 95 and a 96 Chevy three-quarter ton that I don't use anymore.
But I've heard that trucks are really in short supply,
especially good quality older ones.
So I thought, well, should I hang on to them
or should I put them on the market?
You know, advertising the local paper kind of thing.
Yeah.
And that was my question to you.
What's your thought?
Are they high mileage trucks?
Now, one's got 93,000 and the other one's got 105,000.
OK.
That's not high mileage.
No, not at all.
That's extremely low mileage.
And are they gas or diesel?
Now, both of them are gas, and one of them
is also a natural gas option.
OK.
Cool.
And last question, do they look like company work trucks
or is it something that people would not be ashamed to drive?
No, they were work trucks.
They're heavy duty.
They're, you know, there's no specific physical differences.
Yeah.
But there are little some rust spots here and there kind of thing.
Sure.
But I mean, I could fix those up and somebody wants to buy them.
Yeah.
And I don't know that you'd get your money back doing that
because that's expensive.
But I would part with them now while the market is really good.
You know, and what I would do if I were you,
if you'll go to my website, carpro.com,
at the top of the page, click on sell a car
and put the information in there on those trucks
and you'll get a bid back.
And if you want to take the bid, take the bid.
They'll bring you a check, pick them up.
If not, add, I'd say in the case of those trucks,
add $2,000 to whatever they say and advertise them locally.
There'll be people that'll buy them.
Gotcha.
They're going to be good, clean trucks.
And I'm going to guess that, you know,
those trucks are going to be in that $5,000 range advertised.
So there is a huge market for trucks, really under $10,000.
But at around that $5,000 to $6,000 mark,
there's people clamoring for those.
They probably will sell within 24 hours.
Just be careful.
I've got an article at my website.
If you'll put Craigslist in the search box at the top,
I've got some tips on selling your car on Craigslist.
It applies to anything, but I just use Craigslist as an example.
But be careful.
There's a lot of scammers out there.
And Robert in Huntington Beach, California.
Robert, welcome.
How can I help you, my friend?
Thank you, sir.
You bet.
My question, I have a 2003 Alvalon with about 148,000 miles on it.
Yeah.
And I've never changed the timing belt, but I've owned it new.
And my record shows I've never changed the timing belt
or the water pump.
And it's about $1,500 as I checked a few companies here.
Do you think it's worth doing that on that vehicle?
We plan on keeping it, not get rid of it.
But is that a 6-ohm?
Anyway, that's my question.
Yes, sir.
Are you sure it has a timing chain?
No, I think it has a belt, timing belt.
Yeah, I'm sorry.
I'm in belt.
You sure it's got a belt, not a chain?
I've been told it has a belt by two of the...
And it may.
And if it does, I just want you to double check it, to be sure.
I was thinking back then the 6-ohmers had the chain, not the belt, but...
Oh, OK.
I could be wrong.
And I have seen some repair places tell people they had timing belts when they
indeed had timing chains, which hardly ever...
A timing chain hardly ever needs to be replaced.
That's just rare.
But if you've actually got a belt, then 100% you need to get that done,
and you need to get it done quickly.
OK, never mind.
I just looked it up.
It does have a belt.
I Googled it for you.
Oh.
That the interval to change it is really 90,000 miles.
If that thing breaks when you're driving it, you're looking at an engine then.
So...
OK.
Yeah, get that done ASAP and drive it very gingerly until you do get it done.
Drive it slow speeds, slow as you can.
Because at highway speeds, if that thing breaks, it's over.
So yeah, I would definitely get that done.
And if you keep it long enough, do it again.
You're at roughly 150,000 miles, so do it at 240,000 again if you still have the car.
Yeah, let's get that done.
And you do have a belt.
So glad we could check on that for you.
My friend, Merry Christmas to you.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful, wonderful Christmas.

Welcome back to The Car Pro Show.
Jerry Reynolds is The Car Pro.
I'm Todd Chambliss.
One of the most clicked items in the newsletter this week has to do.
It's the news section.
It's a hybrid right for you.
We had a hybrid that was the number one clicked item.
It was that Toyota Crown that Jerry just talked about a few minutes ago.
And if you're trying to figure out whether a hybrid's right for you,
in this particular article, Jerry kind of breaks down who needs a hybrid.
And really, one of the more enlightening things is you've heard about the plug-in
hybrids versus the standard hybrids, which obviously are regenerated from just driving
the car from the engine.
There's a major difference in actually the usage of it.
How that applies to what your needs are is important to apply that to the right kind
of hybrid, too, actually.
It is.
And some people, depending on your driving, daily driving habits,
a plug-in works really well for some people.
Now, I'm driving one right now, a Lexus 2026 Lexus TX plug-in hybrid.
One thing I love about this thing, and God bless Toyota for doing it.
But when you get a hybrid with a Toyota, not only are you getting better fuel economy,
but it ups the horsepower.
This thing's got 400 horses.
Really?
And a plug-in hybrid.
And it'll do a little over 40 miles on just electricity, just the battery.
So that's impressive.
Well, and then it switches over to gas.
So some people say, well, 40 miles is nothing.
Well, if you've got a 10-mile one-way trip to the office every day and 10 miles back,
you're never going to see a gas station unless you decide to go on vacation in your plug-in hybrid.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you get home every other day, plug it in, because it doesn't take very long to charge.
You're going to need a home charger, which I highly recommend.
Yeah.
You know, if you've got a short commute on a daily basis, you're not going to be buying any gas.
And that's why this article is so interesting, because for the other,
how many miles on a charge if you use the other hybrid is the standard?
Not the plug-in, but the regular one?
Well, whatever they call that.
The regular hybrid?
Yeah.
Is they call it regular or standard?
They just call it a hybrid.
It's a hybrid.
So either a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid.
Got it.
Okay.
They switch back and forth constantly.
So, you know, you're never running.
If you run on pure electric, it'll only run for a short period of time.
Short of the 40, 41.
Oh, yeah, way shorter.
Oh, okay, got it.
But it just goes back and forth and back and forth.
But the great thing is, you can't tell when it switches.
When it switches over, you used to, you could tell.
Yeah, oh, the old days.
Yeah.
Right.
But with the Toyota, especially, or a Lexus, it's switching back and forth,
and it'll tell you on the dash if you're interested and you want to look.
But otherwise, it's seamless.
It feels, you can't feel a thing.
That's impressive.
Yeah.
And unlike an electric car, you want to go across country,
just go across country.
I mean, I ran out of, by the time they got this Lexus to me Monday,
it had very little left in pure electric.
I ran that out on the way home.
I haven't charged it since.
I've just been running on gas.
Gosh, I love that.
That's the next vehicle I think I want to get.
Yeah, they're great.
The right hybrid.
All right.
Thechase.com, car pro hotline to talk to me.
And I do have a line.
If you want to get a hold of it, it's 800-926-7777-80926-7777.
We talked to Fred in Houston.
Fred, welcome to the car pro show and Merry Christmas.
Well, thank you very much as we celebrate the Lord and Savior.
Yes, sir.
I told your screener that I'm a tall guy.
I mean, I'm six foot six and I got long legs on top of that.
And my wife drives a car of Equinox that's on his last leg.
So I'm trying to get ahead of the game here.
Yeah.
So the question is, are there any car manufacturers now
that are building cars that are comfortable to drive
for somebody of a normal size like me?
This Equinox, I can't even drive it for more than 20 minutes
because of my leg cramps.
I'm a senior, senior.
So I'm going to turn my question over to you that way.
Does that make sense to you?
Yeah, it does.
And I'm trying to think exactly what to tell you.
I think you're going to have to go up in size.
Bigger than the Equinox to be able to be comfortable,
for both of you to be comfortable in it.
And who's the primary driver of this vehicle?
Well, my wife is and she's only 5'10".
I drive a pickup truck because, number one,
the seats are nice and high above the floor
and there's plenty of room.
So I very seldom drive her car.
This wouldn't be her car,
but I want to be able to drive the thing for an hour.
Yeah, sure.
I would tell you one of the roomiest vehicles for the driver
and at 5'10", she won't have any problems getting the seat
adjusted the way she wants it, is the Kia Telluride.
And Todd, you've got a Kia Telluride.
I do.
Drove that in today, have had it for two years.
I got to tell you, for the money that you spend on this
and what you get,
it's one of the best deals out there.
You can't beat it.
But you're what?
Six foot?
What's the name?
Oh yeah, I'm six foot.
Okay.
And not a small guy either, by the way.
And you've got plenty of headroom.
Oh, tons of it.
Yeah.
If you were six inches taller, you'd be okay still.
Oh, sure.
Oh, yeah.
And you get the 10-year, 100,000 mile warranty.
The other one, and this may not be of interest to you
because it's, it's a different kind of SUV,
but the Ford Bronco, which, oh, good grief.
You've got one of those, too.
I have that, too.
Oh, and even thinking.
I know, yeah.
And room, headroom?
Plenty of headroom, yeah.
Absolutely.
So, you know, but you're not going to get the ride quality
that you're going to get in the Telluride.
And I'll give you one more option.
The Honda Pilot.
The Honda Pilot.
It's got, yeah.
It's got a ton of legroom, headroom, and seat travel.
And seat travel is critical in situations like yours,
where you got, you know, somebody that's six foot six.
Now, let me just tell you this.
The only way to know for sure is to get out and look.
And I don't know how big a hurry you're in.
The Houston Auto Show.
Oh, hurry.
Houston Auto Show is in January.
That's a great place to go get in and out
of a whole lot of different vehicles.
And.
Yeah, I did that.
I did that one time.
Yeah, that's the smart move.
Yeah.
But guess what?
If you make a mistake buying a vehicle,
one of you, one of the two of you is going to be
very miserable like you are right now.
So to me, that's, I mean, that's the best thing
about auto shows is people who have specific needs,
whether it be your size, whether it be your garage size,
whether it be cargo area that's necessary.
You know, but I can tell you with certainty,
those three that I mentioned will be good for both of you.
And they're all good vehicles.
That's good.
So give that a try.
I called the Houston Rockets,
I called the Houston Rockets office
and I talked to one of the guys in management there.
I said, Hey, what are your,
what are your players doing that are six, 10?
What do they do?
Oh, they're driving escalades and
and things like Land Rovers and things like that.
And I promise you that, brother.
I appreciate the call.
Merry Christmas to you and the bride.
800-926-7777.
A real test drive should take about an hour.
Let Jerry Reynolds the car pro tell you why.
Call the car pro show at 1-800-926-7777.
I think by your account that you said earlier,
you said, but almost 150 cars a year.
Yeah.
You estimate probably between you and Amy.
The two of us, yeah.
That you review for the newsletter.
And I think that's probably true.
It could be more than that really, honestly.
Yeah, it could.
But with that being said,
of course, this is a holiday week,
but you're not stepping down
from all that responsibility.
You've had two vehicles this week.
I've had two Torero SUVs and I've touched on the fact
that I had the 2026 Lexus TX plug-in hybrid.
It's coming in at 85 grand on the wind sticker,
but I also had the 2026 Infinity QX60.
And how was that?
It was super nice.
It's got the clips stereo.
Very good.
Well done.
You had to teach me how to say that.
Never heard that word before.
Well, it's apparently according to you
and you're the sound guy here.
I'm one of them.
You are the...
Of the two of us maybe.
You're my go-to.
Okay, gotcha.
You say clips makes a great sense.
They do.
They do.
I can see it.
This one sounds good.
Yeah, they sound great.
I mean, clips, they've really done a lot of home stuff.
I didn't know up until maybe the last five,
10 years they were doing car stereos
and doing them well.
Because I've heard one of your vehicles
you've driven with the clips system
and they're outstanding.
Yeah.
And this one, this SUV, super nice.
And a real bargain for today's markets.
Came in at 65 grand.
For an infinity to be a bargain.
That's saying a lot.
It really is.
There are premium vehicles.
There's no doubt about you.
You're getting your money's worth.
But that's a great bargain to get the
infinity quality at something
that's a little bit more affordable like that.
Yeah, I was really impressed with both.
Those reviews will be in the newsletter
coming up this Friday.
All right.
And you can subscribe today.
Let's go to Kevin in Houston.
Kevin, Merry Christmas.
And what can I help you with?
Hey, Merry Christmas to you both.
Thank you, sir.
You know, I have a 2020 Mercedes C300.
It's all right.
It's a dinky little car.
Got all the bells and whistles.
But I think I want something different.
I like sedans.
I was thinking Lexus.
And you know, I heard you talking about the Cadillacs,
but I read some not too good things
about some of their sedans.
What would you recommend for?
I think you're definitely on the right track
with the Lexus.
Okay.
It's a great car.
The ES is a good midsize car.
It's not flashy.
It's not sexy, but it's good.
I mean, it's just a dog on good car.
And you can get that car.
You said Enus?
What is that?
ES.
That's the ES.
Excuse me.
Right.
ES 350.
It also comes in a hybrid, which is great.
That's what I would personally get.
But I would also why?
The extra gas, the extra fuel economy,
and the extra horsepower that you get.
Oh, okay.
If you are a newsletter subscriber of mine,
my advice column this week is is a hybrid right for you.
That's a very helpful article.
And if you're not a newsletter subscriber,
go to carpro.com at the bottom of the page and subscribe.
You'll get yesterday's immediately and you can look at that.
It's a very helpful article and people loved it.
If you want alternatives, the Genesis G80 is a wonderful luxury car.
You can get, if you lack horsepower, you can get that in a six cylinder
and it'll run 375 horses.
It's a rocket and it's a very, very nice car.
And then also in yesterday's newsletter.
Excuse me.
I'm sorry.
When you say Genesis, what is that?
That's the hybrid.
That's the hybrid.
I'm sorry.
It's the luxury arm of Hyundai.
So you still get the 10 year 100,000 miles.
Oh, okay.
Subscribe to my newsletter and also read about the Toyota Crown.
I reviewed it yesterday.
It's all right there.
Whether you should buy or lease is a huge decision.
Find out which is the one for you.
Call the car pro Jerry Reynolds at 1-800-926-7777.
Well, it's happy listener time here at the car pro show.
It's a chance to go and tell you about some great stories.
People that have followed Jerry's advice.
They've got the brand new car and man,
they want to tell everybody about it.
Sometimes it's a get in your car service too.
For example, Franklin went to Tustin Mazda in the Los Angeles area.
And he says that he had well, a big 18 inch crack in his windshield of his 2022 CX30.
So he called chance who he calls the professor there at the dealership.
In service.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Asked him for guidance and apparently he says,
Hey, we've got some of these OEM windshields in stock.
They got one reserved for him.
And then they got the appointment book.
So he got there.
This was November 24th at 8 45 AM.
They gave him a loaner for the day by 2 PM.
They said, everything's ready.
So he shows back up and he says, okay,
well, let's see with all the things in the windshield is everything worth.
The heads up display, all that kind of thing.
And he said he found it to be perfect.
There was nothing that didn't work.
There was no damage whatsoever.
It was done as if he had a brand new vehicle.
He says that he's used them.
They're Tustin Mazda for other service situations and he's found them to be great.
And he says they're great for purchasing and servicing your next vehicle.
Well, Mr. Patterson, John Patterson is the owner there.
He has Mazda with two locations.
He has Hyundai and he has Kia now just opened the new Kia store in Tustin.
So look, all the dealers at our website are great dealers.
And great dealers are not only good for sales, but they're good in service too.
Because they care and they make sure that they offer good service after the sale.
That's another reason when you're in the market to go to carpro.com
and click on find a car pro certified dealer near you
and put your zip code in and it'll take you right to the closest one.
We've got two more hours to go.
And if you want to grab a line right this minute,
the phone number is 800-926-7777. Let's talk.
It would take over 35 years experience to know what Jerry Reynolds the car pro knows.
