It's it's wonderful.

You know, if if you can actually save

about five grand from the Telluride down to the serento, if you don't need

a roomier third row seat,

it's got the serento's got it, but it's it's tight back there where if you if you go

on to the Telluride, it's a roomy third row seat.

And you still get a lot of cargo area either way.

So if it's the right size for her,

the serento is is a great choice.

I've I've enjoyed it every time I've reviewed one.

I've got the the version down from that this week, the Sportage.

And I got to tell you what I tell people when they're

looking at Hyundai's and Kia is all about features.

It's about the cool stuff that comes on

that car that none of the rest of them have.

And then you look at Kia and Hyundai pricing

and they're priced well below their competition,

not to mention the 10-year 100,000 mile warranty.

So all those things together,

if I were y all, I think the serento is a great choice.

And I've got some really, really good

Kia and Hyundai dealers down there in the Houston area.

Well, one thing we know about some electric vehicles

and maybe even all of them, I'm sure there's a bit of a head

depreciation that happens once you take ownership of that vehicle.

Oh, that might be the understatement of the year.

For example, the Ford F-150 Lightning.

I think you've talked about that pretty shocking depreciation curve on that.

But it may pale in comparison to the Cybertruck.

Oh, yeah.

An account here where a man spent

$146,000 plus

with barely 600 miles on it.

And then at 4600 miles, it had lost

$76,500 in value.

That's a little bit of a depreciation hit.

Man, there's some folks who bought

their first house for that kind of amount back in the day.

Of course, you can't anymore.

But yeah, in the quick hits part of our

Now that the $7,500 federal money is gone,

we're really going to see that.

We're going to find out what electric cars

are all about as far as sales.

Market correction.

No doubt, no doubt.

It's going to be interesting to watch.

My prediction, sales will go down dramatically.

Probably about half what we saw in the last couple of months.

Maybe to about 5% of the market.

I think some of the electric car companies

will probably go by the wayside.

Tesla will likely be the big winner in all this.

They were the originator.

They have a very loyal group of owners

that love the product.

And so I think they're probably going to be the big winner.

The Ford's and the General Motors of the world.

Who tried to get into the electric car business will probably stay there,

but on a much smaller basis.

Probably not so good for the Rivian company.

Or Lucid.

Or Lucid, yeah, that's another one.

One of the greatest ones and Polestar.

Who knows?

I never quite understood that one anyway.

But, you know,

we'll see if they can survive.

I hope they do.

But in the meantime,

if you're in the market for an electric,

you're going to have fewer choices in the future.

So you might want to look now.

I like the four wheel drive in the Subaru.

And but I've had Toyota's for the past 35 years.

There's some loyalty there.

Y I wonder what your opinion was.

I just moved, I tell you this, because I don't have a computer.

And I'd like some suggestions for dealerships,

because I cannot look it up yet.

OK, then I move.

Now, what have you been driving, Roy?

Oh, I have an old seven Corolla

that I've had since new.

OK, and I have like 65,000 miles

on it, but I needed to change the transmission

and the catalillic converter already.

So I want to get rid of it.

I have a truck and

21 Tacoma, which I like, but it's too big

me to drive around in 77.

And I just don't want to be driving

that big of a vehicle anymore.

I got it.

All right.

So given your budget

I would tell you, I think I would go

with the Crosstrek.

Y no te voy.

One is the Subaru

has got a lower base price than the RAV4 does.

I love the RAV4,

but I think the longevity

of both those SUVs is about the same.

Subaru just makes an outstanding vehicle.

It's not uncommon for them to go 200,000 miles.

Same thing with the RAV4.

But if you're going to spend 35 grand,

you can get a lot more vehicle

in the Crosstrek than you can the RAV4.

So for those reasons,

I'd tell you to get the Crosstrek.

The other thing that hit me was

you said you were 77.

77.

Yes.

The safety features on the Subaru

are superior to anything else you could buy,

including the RAV4.

And it's it's the things that

change about us when we age

that really come into play with that Subaru.

The depth,

perception, how close your park into something

beeps to warn you when you're getting too close to something.

Blind spot, monitoring,

emergency braking, I could go on and on and on.

So I'm telling you,

I believe with all my heart that the Crosstrek

is the better choice for you.

right before the break, and about the death wobble, and I think you wanted to finish your

thought on that. I did, I thought I could finish it before the break, but I missed it.

Pete, what I was saying is, I don't know why there hasn't been a recall on this,

and I think it is because it's sporadic, and there's no rhyme or reason for it.

People who have experienced more than, happening more than one time will tell

you that the circumstances were different each time that has happened. It doesn't seem to get worse

as time goes on. I mean, I've been talking about this for over a decade, and sometimes it's when

you hit a pothole on the highway, it triggers it. That's the only common denominator I can find

with it. But, again, the bottom line, we're talking about the death wobble on some vehicles

with Pete. Pete talked, both his sons experienced it and wanted my thoughts on it,

so if you just joined the show, that's where we are. Again, I'm told by Ford dealer it can be fixed.

If Ford won't cover the fix, it's about 500 bucks to get it fixed at most dealerships,

but it sounds like they're going to just trade trucks and that'll rid them of the problem.

Yeah, that's what they want to do. Once my daughter-in-law got in there and experienced it,

it was very difficult for her to steer, and darn sure none of us want them and my grandkids

in those trucks, it was scary. It's hard to control it.

I have had people tell me about it, and it sounds, I've never had it,

but it sounds horribly frightening because you don't know what's happening.

Exactly, and what you said is correct, they hit a pothole or something on the way the deer leased,

but the daughter-in-law experienced it exiting a freeway this past week,

and there was no pothole, no bump, she was exiting, thank God she was exiting,

and it just happened. I mean, she was just frantic, and it scared her to death,

and I'm like, I had never heard of it. I mean, my God, it just blows me away.

Why Ford won't do it? My stock answer has always followed the money trail,

and it just kind of is bewildering to me that that's such a high selling vehicle that people seem

to love, that it's happening, or it has been happening, and it's not more information or exposure

to it out there. It's just really frightening. Yeah, if you start looking for it, you'll find it

online, I promise you. There's people who have videoed it from the driver's seat,

and you see this sensation, and it's a scary deal. Now, tell them, tell both sons,

if they don't find the right deal on a GMC, to contact Brandon Sign at Classic Buick GMC.

They're there. Brandon's been a friend of mine for years and years and years. He came from Classic

Chevrolet in Sugarland, and he's running Classic Buick GMC. Now, wonderful, wonderful dealership.

He'll make sure they drop my name with Brandon, and he'll take great care of him, and I promise you,

price on a new one with the incentives right now is going to be very, very close to the price

of a used one. I'd go with the new. And by the way, I've never heard of the death wobble

with a GM product. So, good news there. Brother, thanks for your patience. Sorry,

we got cut off earlier. But now we go to Travis, and he's in Garden Grove, California. Grant,

what's going on, Travis? Good morning, gentlemen. I'm a construction worker down here

in SoCal. I drive lots of miles on my car. I'm currently driving 2005 Honda CRB.

That's about ready for a new upgrade. I've been driving Honda and Toyota. Most of the time,

but I haven't bought a car in a long time. I don't know my best option on where to go.

Maybe what would be right for me. I do have to haul some equipment like wheelbarrows and

certain things for my job. Travis, as far as room and size,

does the CRV, does the CRV you have now, is it ample? Does it give you enough room?

Yes. Okay. Then I would probably tell you either to go with a new CRV hybrid,

or I would tell you to go with a RAV4 hybrid, one of the two. You're driving a lot of miles.

You want to get the best fuel economy that you can. And you want a vehicle I would assume,

given that you've kept the last one 10 years. You do a lot of driving. You want something that'll

go 200,000 miles or more. Either one of those will do that easily. Just do your routine maintenance.

You got it. And you'll be fine. You know what, in your situation,

you might even look for a slightly used one. Neither one of those are holding their value

like pickups are right now. You've probably heard me talking about that while you were on hold.

So if you let somebody else take that first year depreciation

and jump on with a 2024 factory certified one, you're going to get warranty up to 100,000 miles

on the powertrain, which is the main thing. So I wouldn't close the door on a certified one.

I typically like to pick one vehicle when I'm talking to somebody, but in your case,

given what you do and how much you drive and etc., I just think either one of these

would be good for you. I'm also kind of interested in maybe the Tacomas too.

You know, it's a great truck, but it's a pickup. You do a lot of driving. The ride

is fairly rough and that is a truck that holds its value like crazy. You're going to spend a lot

more money on one of those than you are the CR-V, the RAV4. You'll have a more pleasant ride and drive.

what if you can't afford your car? Life changes, you know, you get medical bills,

you can get a setback, have to go do a repair. It could be anything in the world. All of a sudden,

you're upside down with your budget and able to, as far as afford your car, that might be a problem.

So, you've got some really good advice here on things to do, first of all, facing the reality

and trying to do some, I guess, some other alternative ways to either keep the car or maybe,

you know, down trade the car, some other advice that you've got there, too.

Yeah, and this is a real issue right now. Next week's newsletter on Friday,

next week, one of the articles that I've got in there is that past due auto loans are at the highest

rate in years. And this talks about people falling behind 60 days or more. When you got a problem

making your payments, don't let it go 60 days. You need to jump on it quick.

That's one of the things I'll tell you in that article. Some things can be fixed

if you get on them early. If you just absolutely know, you cannot make your car payment.

Don't let the car go back. Do something different. If you let your car repossess,

you're going to be at totennote places for the next seven to ten years.

And that is a horrible existence. You're going to pay three times what it cost,

what a car should cost, at a 26 to 28 percent interest rate.

You're not going to be any better off. Even if you pay that car off at the end of it,

most of these places don't report to the credit bureaus. So you're not doing anything for yourself.

Hi there, yeah. Well, a year ago, I bought a Hunter H1. It's a 30-year-old.

I've wanted one for 20 years. And it was out of state. I made the purchase side unseen,

which I was nervous about. And because it's a classic vehicle, the rate was

12 percent. And I had to go through an unusual finance company up in Utah.

Well, I was so stressed out at the time. I didn't think about the term.

And I called them the other day and asked them, and they told me that it's 15-year term.

Yeah.

And my question for you is, other than me throwing money at it, it's 40,000.

Is there any other way or means that you might know of to refinance an older vehicle like that?

Who's got it financed now?

It's Medallion.

Okay.

Is it Medallion? Yeah, Medallion.

How much are the payments?

600.

Okay. So you signed up for 600 bucks a month for 15 years.

I didn't know at the time that it was 15 years.

Wow.

So I'm paying $16 a day, $16 a day in interest alone.

I know.

And I want to feel sorry for you, but you have got to read what you're signing when you're signing

legal contracts. And I get it.

It sent to me over my iPhone, and I was so excited about it. I know.

I know. That's what happens.

Check two things. Woodside credit. Woodside credit.

Talk to them about refinancing on a shorter term

and see if they can help that interest rate.

The other thing is if you've got a bank or a credit union,

now they may not do a car loan on that, but they may do a personal loan on that with the title

as collateral. Try those two things. One of those will work.

Don't just go and buy what looks good in a TV commercial.
