And we are back in the garage.
And you know, there's one thing we don't have
in this garage, and you know what that is?
A crashed car.
Because that's like the saddest thing
you can have in a garage, right?
Like, I'm sure that you've wrecked a car before, right?
Yes.
Like maybe not like completely totaled, but like.
Yeah, my first 240, I backed into a wall on the interstate.
You backed into a wall.
Yeah, I spun.
Yeah, maybe you shouldn't even tell this story.
And like it just crunched the quarter in a little bit.
I was like, it's totaled, but like looking at it now
is like that really wasn't that total.
Dude, you could have taken that to the track
and drifted it right there.
I was like, dude, get rid of this thing
immediately, sold it, whatever.
Yeah.
But yes, I have crashed a car that I didn't like,
or I crashed a car that I did like,
and then immediately got rid of it,
because I was just like, ah.
You didn't deal with the aftermath.
Right, right, right.
So I myself have crashed a lot of cars, you know?
It's just, it is what it is, dude.
It was part of the whole thing.
So I mean, my first car I ever had, the old 97 cabbie.
I crashed that one, yeah, just being an idiot,
me and another guy with a 97 cabbie were racing.
He thought it would be cool to try to lose me
by pulling his e-brake at 95 miles an hour
and jamming on his brakes and taking a right turn, right?
What?
So I hit, I rear-ended him in his back,
the back right corner of the car,
because he had like, like I said, jammed on the brakes,
pulled the e-brake, started like sliding sideways,
trying to take a 90 degree turn onto a different road.
Yeah.
I'm not expecting that.
Right.
I'm like 17.
Right.
I rear-end him, the car goes airborne,
flips and lands upside down in a ditch.
My car, complete front end damage
that you would get from rear-ending somebody at 90.
Yeah.
And so me and my stepdad rebuilt the car.
So, and then I fell asleep at the wheel
and crashed my 94 cord into a tree,
me and my uncle rebuilt that one.
So I've got some experience when it comes to like crashing
something and then having to like rebuild it, you know?
Both times I had to get another one of the cars
to get the parts off from because they were so damaged.
They were in bad damage, huh?
Yeah, dude.
So, you know, I got a little experience.
Well, like at that point, why not get,
like take the car you cut up to fix yours?
Why didn't you just take the new one?
Well, because that car was damaged,
those cars had to be damaged and then
it was in another way, you know?
And so that maybe would have been like,
so for example, with the Cavalier,
the car that I bought was the car that I rear-ended.
So the whole roof is caved in on that one,
but the front end clip is good.
Yeah, and then, right, same thing with the Accord.
I bought an Accord with that had been rear-ended.
So the whole front end was fine.
So I'm like Frankensteining these cars, you know?
And on the Accord, we had to cut the pillars and everything.
Holy shit.
Yeah, because the way that I hit the tree,
it had like bowed the pillar on one side.
So we pretty much took a front cut and like put it onto,
yeah, and spot re-spot welded and like did everything.
Like basically we were like,
instead of built by legends,
we were like built by ding-dongs, you know?
Because I would just crash these cars
and have to fix them, you know?
But it was a cool experience for me, you know?
I mean, it was crappy
because I was literally working my butt off
just to constantly fix these cars that I would crash, you know?
But that brings us to the point of this episode, right?
So what happens when you crash like a JDM car, right?
Like what happens especially when you crash
like a upper level JDM car that is more rare
and takes more to fix, you know what I mean?
Like what does that look like?
And so if you're paying attention
to the culture whatsoever, right?
Just like a month ago or so was ours day at Laguna Seca.
Like, you know, our United States version
of ours meeting in Japan, right?
And it was started by, you know, an American guy
like five years ago or six years ago
and you know, it's grown ever since.
So if you've been paying attention whatsoever,
this event created a situation where there's a red flag
and you've obviously put in more track time than me.
And so generally from your experience,
like what's a red flag?
So red flag is like something happened on track
and does it mean stop?
It means keep it moving, you know, complete the lap,
come into pit whenever you come in, right?
That there's some sort of emergency
where they have to whatever, maybe fix a barrier
someone went into where there's a medical emergency,
whatever it might be, that's what it is.
Pretty much get to the pits pretty much.
So because, you know, okay, so at Laguna Seca,
there was a red flag and everybody stopped in place.
Right, and I guess that is what was mentioned
in the driver's meeting to do.
Okay.
So I guess, you know, different tracks
have different rules.
For the most part, it usually means get to the pits
because they want to track clear.
From what I had read at Laguna Seca in the driver's meeting,
they said, you know, if there's a red flag,
pull off to the side and pretty much have the middle
of the track open or something like that, but.
Which kind of makes sense, I guess.
Like create two lines or three lines, whatever it is.
Because it's a very big track, it would take,
you know, might take a long time for the entire field
to get off into the pit so they can roll out
whatever they need.
So they might have a unique rule where.
Or it could have been that event, maybe that,
yeah, that's what, we weren't there, we don't know.
Right.
Just to say, we don't have a clue what was discussed,
but, you know, we just like anybody else
are taking what the internet says
and just trying to figure this out.
So you got a red flag, you know, and this is ours, Dave.
These are all GTRs of some form or fashion
and they all pull off to like one side, like you said,
and kind of line up.
Right.
And so, you know, again, this is ours, Dave.
There's like some of the most like prestigious cars there
that their owners have put godly amounts of money into.
Yes, hundreds of thousands of dollars, for sure.
Yeah, I'm sure dude, the paddock was probably
millions of dollars worth of cars.
Like literally, right, like something that like,
you know, if you're a GTR guy, like it's like, oh shit.
Like this is, this is pinnacle in the United States,
you know, kind of like GTR festival, right?
So these guys are all parked off onto the side.
They just had a blast, you know, something happened.
They got a red flag.
They're doing what they were told as far as we know.
Yeah.
And there's an active red and AR too.
Like the, like when you come to like colors, you know,
of course there's midnight purple three, right?
You know, of course the black is really popular.
Yeah.
AR too is like very rare.
You don't see them that much.
I don't know if I've seen one in real life.
I feel like we saw a GTT that was painted red,
but I don't, yeah, garage defend, but I don't think it was a,
but he probably had one tucked in there and he probably did.
But anyways, very rare.
So there's one of these and 32 GTR, you know,
parked just like they should side by side.
I'm pretty sure.
Or maybe one in front of the other.
I'm not, I've seen both.
Somebody said that they were parked side by side.
Another person said that the red one hit the,
hit the 32, you know, I don't know.
It's kind of hard because the video is limited
and the owner of the AR2 GTR is a lawyer
and he is exercising his right to not talk about it really.
You know, he talked about the fact that it happened.
He did not talk about, he didn't even say
the weather tech employees did this.
He literally just said that it happened
because he knows obviously he's trying not to make it
so that he can't.
Right, right, right.
So anyways, they're sitting there
and all of a sudden the telehandler,
some people call it a forklift,
some people call it a tractor,
some people call it all kinds of things.
But the actual name for it is a telehandler
and that is because it has a huge boom arm
that extends to whether it's to put pallets on flat roofs,
whether it's to lift trusses for houses,
like these things are very versatile,
but they are also built by like a brick shit house, dude.
Like they are a big ass machine with huge tires
and that's why people mistake it for a tractor
because it basically has tractor, rear tractor tires
on all four tires.
Like it's made to go through mud, snow, whatever.
So this thing, I assume they use it
for different things at the track
and what it looked like to me
is the dude had on the forks a bunch of tires.
Is that what it looked like?
Right, right, like a tire barrier.
Right, like he was going to replenish one or something.
I don't know, but so this dude literally just rear ends them.
Like literally just, I mean, those things don't go that fast
but obviously the mass behind them is like the issue.
And he just literally runs up on the back of this AR2 GTR.
Like it's a monster truck going over cars.
Like he just ran up on.
Yes, I mean, he like kind of hit it
with a glancing blow, I guess you could say.
Yeah, like one over the side.
It wasn't square in the back,
which that would have been real bad.
Well, cause the owner was in the vehicle.
Yes, yeah, it's right.
So like, yeah, he hit it on the right side, I guess of it
and pushed the car forward and dude.
I can't imagine what's going through the driver's head.
Well, yeah, when you're sitting there,
maybe you're just scrolling on your phone
waiting for the green flag.
Or looking in your mirror.
Oh, or looking in either mirror
and you're like, what the hell is going on?
Why doesn't he stop?
Oh, like dude, and you're just like in shock
when you step out of the car.
Cause you're just like, wait, what?
This is a red flag on Laguna Seca.
And I just got smoked by a telehandler.
Like no, this isn't happening, right?
And so whether he got hit into this 32 GTR
or the 32 GTR was like in the road beside him
and got scun by the telehandler.
I can't really tell how this happened,
but two vehicles were damaged.
And the 32 is like repairable, you know, with some work.
Like for sure, it's not like no glass broke.
Like it was the lower quarter panel
on the driver's side rear.
So he's like, okay, right?
That's probably why we don't hear
about his side of the story as much.
Because it's not as dramatic.
Still messed it up.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'd still be ripping and pissed, yeah.
You're still either cutting in a new panel
or body repair that sucks.
Like, and so they hit this guy, right?
He gets out, the guy in the AR2,
I can't remember his name, but he gets out
and he's like, dude, what the hell?
Like the, and like this is really bad, right?
Yeah.
The driver of the telehandler,
a weather tech employee, raceway employee says,
oh, I didn't even see you there.
Well, no shit.
Dude, could you imagine?
Like, you know, obviously this dude's a lawyer.
He's practiced handling situations, right?
Maybe not his own, but dude,
if I got out of my 34 AR2 GTR with every mod
known to man like this beautiful specimen,
and the dude says, oh, I didn't see you.
Dude, my gloves are coming off, my pants are coming down.
Dude, I am pissed.
Are you kidding me, dude?
You didn't see me, my car is red.
Like, what do you mean, dude?
Like, what were you doing at the wheel of that thing?
To where you literally came down this, this raceway.
Yeah.
And it's not a straight away.
It's not like it was a straight away.
So you had a view of everything.
Right.
And you didn't see me?
Yeah, dude, I would have a huge problem with that.
I would have a huge problem.
I would probably get myself in trouble.
Yeah.
Because I would feel like that was...
It's negligence.
Yes, that's the exact word that they use
in their disclaimer that you sign off
when you come onto the track,
is we are not responsible for the negligence
of anyone affiliated with WeatherTech Raceway.

Can you believe, can you believe that's a real thing?
Because, I mean, you would assume when you're signing that,
I mean, you know, we've all,
if you've been to a racetrack,
you've had to sign the paper when you come in.
Of course, you only read it.
Yeah, you wouldn't think it would be,
you would think it's like, okay,
you're responsible for your own safety, right?
Yeah, in your own actions.
In your own actions.
And that like, whatever.
I mean, everyone knows like, in racing, things happen.
People run into each other, damage other people's stuff.
And it's just part of racing, right?
Most people assume that's what is on that waiver.
Right.
You know?
Yeah, yeah.
Like your basics, right?
Right, right.
You're releasing them from being responsible
for someone else causing it.
Yes, or anything out of their control, right?
Like whether it's weather or anything like that
out of their control, right?
Right.
But dude, like when I saw that,
that it was like, we're not responsible
for the negligence of anyone associated
with weather tech raceway.
Which is crazy.
That word negligence means anything,
including running a telehandler
into the back of 34s and 32s.
Like, dude, that's crazy.
And you know, when I saw that,
it really, really gave me a new perspective
on those waivers.
It really gave me a new perspective that like, wait,
I thought that I was signing this thing
so that basically I couldn't sue them
if I drove like shit and got hurt.
That's kind of the way I always saw it.
If you run into the wall, that's on you.
Yeah, it's on you.
Right.
But I mean, in the past,
Laguna Seca has been like,
it's not the first time they're gonna be taking a court.
Right.
I mean, I remember in years past,
there's been issues with like motorcycle track days.
Guy ran off and he hit like a little drainage ditch
or something.
And, you know, it caused a situation that was,
I don't know, not necessarily avoidable,
but he thought he had a clear runoff.
He hit a drainage ditch.
Yeah.
So, and that guy also happened to be a lawyer.
This is so kind of funny, but like,
if they're not new to the game,
they've been a racetrack for decades and decades and decades.
And like, that's not the first time
that they're gonna be running into an issue like that.
So, you know, with someone like them,
I imagine, you know, that goes into that waiver.
Oh yeah, their lawyers are like, ah, dude, listen.
Like we need to tighten this up.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Hey, just throw the negligence part in there.
And like that pretty much makes it so we can like run over
GTRs with a telehandler, dude.
Yeah.
You know, like, I don't know.
To me, I get it, you know, like as a business person,
looking at it from a business perspective,
I need to cover all of my bases.
And maybe this won't even hold up in court.
Maybe this waiver won't hold up
because of the extreme negligence
of literally just running over a car.
Like, but they need to at least put it in there
as like a, like a somewhat of a protection, right?
On the smaller stuff, you know,
and that's really what it's for.
There has to be like discretion, right?
Like, yeah, like it's probably,
it was probably initially meant for small things,
negligence wise.
Like do these something-
Like they're not responsible for piss on the toilet.
Right, or the employee that was doing this
and scratched your car by walking by it.
Or this that got left on the track by an employee
that you hit and it took the bumper off.
Like those little things, right?
Not a literal employee with dude,
like he couldn't see it
cause he had his load so low,
like the tires were in front of his face.
Of course he couldn't see shit.
Like it was like literally negligence.
It wasn't like a, like, oh, well,
I was driving down this path
and then the dude just decided to move over
and then I hit him.
Like no, he was there for like time, you know?
So yeah, to me, the whole thing,
it's like, dude, that makes me a little weary, you know?
Because basically like you go to ours day, right?
And you're at Laguna Seca and it's like,
dude, you either sign that or you're not.
Right, and dude, no one reads those.
No way.
Personally, I'm sorry, I've never read one.
Dude, everyone besides the lawyer listening to this

Like this isn't, you know, especially.
Since they've become legal over here, you know, like you see a few
thirty fours that like have gotten destroyed and and you're just like, damn,
like another one bites the dust, like get the ticker and put it down.

Because like there are only this many left now, you know, essentially.
So, you know, like and I remember just like a year ago,
they showed one that got rear ended in Japan that was like destroyed,
you know, and it was like another one bites the dust.
And that's that's even over there before we even get our chance to fuck them up.

You know, like and that's kind of rare there.
And then if you look into the ones that have been destroyed in Australia,
it's because they've had them for so long and because they need.
And a load of things behind the wheel like 10 million horse powers.

And so they are just like reckless.
I'm talking like wrapped around these things in half, dude.
Yeah, like when you when you see the one with like the perfect centered,
like tree tree dude on the door and it's just like wrapped around.
It's like insane.
