"They import cars from Japan and doing a hell of a lot more than they used to given the new laws. One of the things that brought in recently is the Mercedes-Benz S-class hybrid, get those landed here. You know, imported landed for sort of mid 50s and that's a hell of a lot of car."
"Yeah. I think a lot of the, you know, any of those sort of I-20 ends, we know where they're going. They actually parked behind the hind ionic fives, and the Tesla's that David seen, that same deal are so it's, but once again, And I think the from a consumer point of view, there needs to be, you know, more self-education and everyone can Google stuff and can sort of find out what people are paying."
"... would but I'm six generations and the the Subaru Outback. Well, I saw one the other day driving in William..."

Does professional idiot. Drive.
The rest of the world thinks is our Capital but it's not Sydney.
So how you doing there? What's happening?
Your you've just arrived. This afternoon is the diamond is
the commitment that he has. He goes to a flies in within
half an hour, he's on his online that's commitment to Carter.
That's okay. I mean, I'm trying trying to get
better at that. Now that we're at the car talk
sponsored by have a, we are on this Chinese money at the moment so that You know Beijing, slow me up here to joke about that.
To look at some of the, some of the new vehicles hitting hitting the market in Australia. So I will report in next week as
such as to rename our goal at the moment, probably.
I don't even know if I mean, ultimately, that's what it is, right? So that's what I'm doing.
Sort of up here and I'll fill you guys, do you guys think otherwise, you never know. My Embassy may knock on the door
and say, get out. Yeah, that's like too much.
You know, I'm saying? Well, it's good to see good
series and just for our listeners are home, who actually don't know where L capital is for our overseas listeners.
Or I'm assuming most Australians know where El capital is, it is camera. So, it's kind of like in between
Melbourne and Sydney closer to Sydney and we kind of fight over. I guess it stops us from
fighting. They decided to put the capital
city in in the middle between it between the two states.
We just technically instill in New South Wales but that's another that's a whole another argument I was like, but we're here to talk about cars, we'll get into some car update.
Soon as reasonable we've started with you, may as well start with you updates with you, man. How's everything going in?
Your end look things are going. All right, I've haven't driven
my car's in the last week or so I had another car that I was driving that nearly made me miss the flight today.
Badly badly like a flying plane was supposed to take off at to I get to the Airport after dropping that car off at 141.
How come the traffic was just cool to do the car?
Like, literally for that 30%, drop charge so quickly, and just because it was raining, Heavy Rain, are you serious?
And I was like, this is ridiculous.
I had to pull over to like, find a charger.
I could beg someone to give me their cable.
I to just I, anyway, long and the short of it is anyone considering an electric car by ground up electric car.
Are ya, don't match something that's converted?
Well, it's a world apart, same price.
Same thing, they'll be why these just at a different level.
Whereas, my mg, I just let us say, I'm happy to give it back.
There you go. So that's my little car update
as such. Nothing else happening at the
moment, but obviously, I'll keep the cart row crew update it.
That's why we sponsored by by heavily.
Oh, right? Right, that's it.
This is David Prince updates with you, and not a huge lot of a daytime, still chipping away. Oh, there's a few still chipping
away with the city. He'd give me that ready for
classic Japan in about two weeks time, I think three weeks time.
I've had a think. I mentioned last time that I was
lucky enough to be given some original fabric, so, giving the seats a little bit of a spruce up at while the seats are out of Ben. Keep the carpet it, a good,
scrub, and a vacuum and all that sort of thing, fiddle around with the stereos, go very old. Am AM FM rate your radio and
branded sort of thing and it certainly got fast-forwarding.
Eject doesn't even have a rewind.
So did with the cassette player still works the radio, not so good. So been feel around with that.
I've cleaned up the seat belts and that sort of thing.
So while it can't move because it going to seats in it, we may as well do those sorts of bits and pieces?
That's that's about it. The in one still dirty from a
drama. I did a couple of weeks ago, I
must Rectify that before the weekend Ben, Ben actually out, looking at some cars looking at updating one of the, one of the family cars and drawing a big fat blank at the moment.
And then actually come up with anything that we have to have.
So well, tell us. So watch that space.
You're replacing the CRV. We're looking at replacing, the
CRV least really up on that. It's fully sold for four and a
half years old now. We'd like to go hybrid this
time. I don't think we're ready to
jump on the electric car bandwagon, but I think hybrid has got a lot of advantages for now, and I think in four years time, when we come to get rid of it, they'll be even more.
If we getting rid of it, then. Yeah crawled across.
We've had a look at, which is interesting, little car, but as editor said before, when you look at Master 3 is for some reason cuz shouldn't have black roof Linings, unless they're a Porsche or something, Ali sporty, or overtly sporty.
It was quite I found it quite claustrophobic inside and each model level had that black roof lining.
The top model, has a retract as a panoramic roof, but doesn't the doesn't open. So it's got a blind that
retracts. So that really the gates, the
whole benefit of having a sunroof I reckon we can pop it open and then the carb better. Not much point to that one by
one. They sort of fell by the
wayside. Oh, next, to that, of course,
was a RAV4 and I can see why they're selling.
I've never That closely at the moment.
I have never loved the styling of the new one.
It's a bit too lego-like or something.
Looks like the comment earlier, but, but you can't argue with an 18-month waiting list. You know, people are wanting
them and they had a couple of years ones on the, on the demonstrators or something with probably 10 to 15,000 case and they were like a good 15 grand more than list.
So that you just think well, I'm not paying that, I'm not that desperate. I've got a perfectly good car
that runs He's fine now. So why wouldn't you support our
automotive industry? David dealers are going broke.
He demands of all things a bit more bet that later actually. Yeah, absolutely.
Like okay is a hybrid on the cards if I know that was out that was my first choice. However, they have there are
four seated on a five-seater. Well, I meant and also they have
no spare time out. So they just have a, which is
ink. As is becoming more and more
common, but I like a still have a space saver but no spare tire.
We've actually had to blow apps in the last 12 months I suppose with the rodents away. They are the moment through no
fault of our own and the thought, Of not having a spare at all and if you blow out a tire or side wall or something like that, that's groups not going to get you anywhere.
So you're going to be standing on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck so not ready to jump that way.
Just yet either my gdn ones doesn't have a spare tire.
I didn't realize the other day but then I don't drive that sun everyday car. So yeah did drive at Adelaide.
I did drive it to a delay. I was more concerned about the
windscreen. I kept well away from any well.
Well, I didn't want to Copperstone and smash the wind screen. Oh yeah, I do a delay because
you're not going to ring windscreens O'Brien to get in one eye, but I have one that's true that, that was my bigger concern than a tire. So just to clarify.
So you got some SUV e-hybrid, have you looked at far as the hybrid, I haven't looked at closely because I think they'll be out of the price range. They're pushing 60 Grand.
I think, aren't they? Well, okay, Unbeliever sort of
mid 40s. Last time I checked.
They couldn't sell many. Yeah, okay.
Okay. Now will I haven't looked at
that light. Can't say, I love the styling of
the new soubise battle. You know, that's a personal
thing, but one thing I haven't looked at clothes.
Well, I have looked at having driven yet and I'm Keen to drive one is a new key and Nero hybrid which available in two levels as an S and a GT line GT. Ajusshi line and you pick up a
lot of stuff on the, on the GT line.
It's like the Toyota that now has the connectivity to your smartphone and all that sort of things they started and set the air-conditioning. All those sorts of things.
But when I'm not tied to that other than have to have that, but the basic are still pretty well appointed.
Even down to things. Like, electric seats, and
electric, lumbar adjustment, and those sorts of things.
So, yeah, which watch this space?
Okay. See results.
Get the xvii a hybrid which is somehow sold out.
I don't know how probs not for that one, but the forest the hybrid. I don't know, I'm just trying to
look at how much they, how much they go for, but they don't really come up on their website, which is a bit with like you could have seen a few posts for the hybrid but it's not a full hybrid. I don't think.
From what I've read. It's like a yeah, hybrid assist
or something. It's just like a full hybrid.
Is it in an electric either? So it's sort of it between I
think they weren't very good fuel economy and that's one of the reasons why they didn't sell very well.
That's right. And that's one of the reasons
for getting it obviously. I think you know, like any most
of them, the ones that are rated around the four liters per 100 case I think that's, that's impressive.
You know, I wouldn't I wouldn't expect to get that day to day, but if you're comparing it against the car that regularly, you know, is rated at a l /, 100 guys, what it's going to do better than that in real-world driving.
So yeah. Anyway, I might have to look at
this Forest. Yeah, it is those about 6 .7
liters per 100, really? I'm reading the review about it.
It says practical interior, small fuel tank which doesn't help you range performance. Not really quick car Matra for
efficiency but I mean I was expecting to hear that anyway, but they for your hybrid s which is I think is your top spec is 47 and your hybrid L which entry levels 41.
So So plus driveway, yeah, you're looking a little bit of an outsider would be 45 for the base and and low 50s.
Correct. Yeah.
Actually. Yeah.
So yeah, it might be, were just having a sauce out because I mean, it's funny like, there's not many hybrid hybrids inverted commas that anymore because I even just going for electrical nothing. And I know that Chi is bringing
the sport Arjun hybrid, but that's going to be quite quite expensive because they're quite expensive car.
So yeah, I need answers of it so I mean that's the whole thing.
We don't need to carrots because the CRV now.
So anyway, first world problem. You know, this looks more
pressing things going on in the world, but it's interesting actually looking. I mean, it would, if we, if we
don't buy 100, be the first time to we haven't bought as a new car for plenty of years, but if they don't have the cars, we want to buy and then there's not much we can do about it.
What about Corolla hybrid? Just, and across hybrid because
I made a ones go on. And I actually really like it.
It's actually really lovely car. Probably a little small, okay.
Yeah. The crawl across is, is
significantly higher and bigger inside and the hatch of the Corolla, the load space in the girl.
Hatch is pretty terrible. Our needs vents in the back of
the console to, if that's everything.
What was wrong with crawl across?
What why did you pull that out? There was some reason, well,
black roof Linings thing. Good, these funny sort of the,
the Interiors of don't feel great in them and they're sort of Half fabric half or half and half leather, I don't know why they I suppose because I work in that industry you know you have an insert will I put an insert in the sea and it's 2:30 2:30 sense, not to full swing, like it's, yeah, that's right saying that like mum's, here is cross is the bolsters, our vinyl.
Yeah, at the center where you sit is cloth.
Yeah, which would be fine. But for some reason, a lot of
the the new cars It was a hot day, but, of course, being being this sort of all black interior in the black roof lining.
There was not it, not it was sunny day, but it wasn't Hong 30 degrees and the upholstery was absolutely burning already.
Not like just soaking up people. Anyway, let's add that.
He sort of I don't know as car people, you know, people who love cars that we should be really sitting here going.
Oh, this is cool. And that's cool.
And you should be almost struggling to choose because there's three or four, that you really like, that's right.
That's right. And I came across the same thing
when when we got rid of the bema, it was.
Oh God. What do you buy?
You know, I just there was nothing that really Ticked boxes for me, you know, in the Yaris Cross isn't perfect, but it certainly ticked the most boxes out of the stuff around at the time. But it, it was a struggle.
You know, I almost want to go the other way, you know?
I almost want to go. All right.
Well, let's go backwards and get something.
That was really nice. You know, that's now five years
old or something and you go down the path of okay, well what if it does a timing chain or it does it this or that I'm up to thousands and you know you can And of the only one thing I don't, I haven't looked into them.
But Lexus, there was some pretty nice Lexus, hybrids new, yep.
And like that rat. What was the Lexus?
It was based on the red for the NX.
I do like the NSX lights and a good size, and I don't know if you can get a hybrid one, but even if you bought one of them, so that might be a nice thing to slide into.
Yep. Mmm.
It has crossed my mind. Your new ones are there again
more 50 on the budget better, you know, you might get one has to do with 18,000 case on it. And you think we'll that know.
That's right. Have you looked at cihr hybrid.
Hey, this is all in the back, it's just all about.
It's probably the back there, like a like a coffin is so big and it's really sort of uplifting here.
It's home, your line. I think they look pretty funky
funky, and I know someone that someone who pointed went out to their partner, and they said, I say, That new Lamborghini SUV is it is then bright yellow. It sort of is a striking.
Resemblance to it. You risk.
It said he will begin his sake but it's just, yeah, I find it.
So disheartening and then I yeah, I just I just run the opposite direction and go. All right, well, if I'm spending
fifty thousand dollars or forty eight thousand dollars or whatever it ends up. Being in that facility, let's go
shopping. I mean, we through work, you
know, part of our I'm sort of sister company.
They import cars from Japan and doing a hell of a lot more than they used to given the new laws. One of the things that brought
in recently is the Mercedes-Benz S-class hybrid, get those landed here. You know, imported landed for
sort of mid 50s and that's a hell of a lot of car.
And that the same Factory as all the other s classes and not that, I'm suggesting it for you. David to Sara Lee.
It doesn't quite meet the size requirement but You know, I sort of start going. Okay, well if it's all just
Plastic Fantastic and not doing what I want, what can I get for 50 granite and when you start sniffing, you can come up with some pretty compelling vehicles and you go.
All right, now I'm getting a bit excited because that's an S, you know, and it might be five years old, but that's a hell of a lot of Monica, rather a CB hybrid that you're gay.
Hmm. I was thinking precisely the
same thing and You know looks are a subjective thing but you really don't want to car, you don't want to buy a card that you don't like the look of, you know, solutely.
You don't just want to buy it because it's like no one's got a gun. Maybe something.
Hang on. This is a lot of money, I'm
losing money on this thing. Even though used cars are
holding up better than they have.
I'm paying lease payments every month on this thing.
It's coming at you. My can you kind of got to have a
compelling reason to do it? And I don't know.
I get disheartened and I Yeah, it'd have to be pretty good for me to do it. Otherwise, I'd get right, 20,
grand cash. I'm going to own a bright.
Yeah, let's go and buy the best Accord Euro luxury lowest?
Well, I can find for 12, yeah, and just drive that for five years. I've let me a sort of, I sort of
just, I denounce the whole thing, it has crossed my mind.
See, Clarity, mr. Bunting, I think, I think a
Either a light early recorder or a, you know, obviously, the second generation Accord euro is a fantastic one of my bill.
And I think that if you look at a downsizing and something that will just work and be comfortable and have everything that you want, I think that's a good option as well.
I think, you know, I think that's dearly yesterday that actually had a 03. Accord Euro luxury, manual, all
those 3,000 cases and Applause, wow, that's like okay, yeah, and the guy that Servicing it is, it is a good mate and a Honda absolute Guru. And one of the main text that
isn't in the system that under Australian would send cars to diagnose folks and things. When they came along he said
this thing smells and drives like a new car.
He said there's no there's no other car on the market.
That's substantially better than this for what it is.
You know, like how much do they want for that?
I don't force a customer's car that's got okay.
Yeah. Me I put in contact angle.
Would you sorry who wouldn't want manual video?
Probably not for day-to-day driving now but that's and that's, you know, how much would that car be?
It would be 13 90 and you know that's right in 1990 think it's worth I said between 10 and 12 you know would be cheeky for an 03. It's you know it's a 20 year old
cars early Car. Yeah.
But what is absolutely Flawless. He said it needs nothing.
You know. It needs.
No repairs. It needs to interest service.
It's nothing's wrong with it. You know.
But you buy that you could put 100,000 case on that and not blink. Yep.
You know, and you've had not one lease payment, you know, yet for five years, I kid, the one, I had 100, I bought it with 150,000 case on the dot, and it had, it needed, not a single thing for a roadworthy, it was a brilliant car.
So I think that, I think that's, that's a cool option as well.
If you could, if you could find a real real real minta Accord Euro because it's down in size compared to the CRV, it's a Honda Accord Euro fine, until you called me one night were actually driving a CRX one night and it may call me is like what do you think of going to call you?
And I was just like, absolutely. I was just just really messed
tick. Tick tick tick tick tick.
Tick. Tick tick tick small boxes.
It is, it is Audibly. You know, I cracking car and you
know if that I mean if you don't have something to, I mean but the good, the cool thing about like I called Euros is like, especially with that vintage is that if you want, you want to put a really nice sound system, going to update it to where it should be. It doesn't cost you that because
it costs the Almond, it's not the end of the world to do that.
It'll be, you know, you bother for the face, your kit, you'd buy the the which user comes with all the wiring and everything ready to go and just put a Apple carplay and Android auto hidden unit in there and you are 2020. 20:22 Jim Bob's,
your uncle, it's really the only thing that dates them is is that infotainment in the phone set up.
But if you say it's easily solvable now everyone.
And if you spend a grand or 800 or do we going to spend on the system, it's still cheap motoring, isn't it?
I don't know what guy who can install it for you if you know what I mean. And I've done many, but yeah,
they are, you know, that would be a cracking thing to just to just to put around town in and and it's certainly still look good. I cannot that the first Jenna
called your especially still one of the best looking cars.
I reckon it still looks modern today like you could resist.
Even nodding his head. You can you can look at that
kind of thing. And she's like I like you know
like if the if the headlights aren't you load because they all yellow and but if it's if it's if they're not yellow in there, it's really nice. You can say that that car's not
even 10 years old, they look good.
They were really Timeless car and we should come.
Should probably say, 24-hour over Caesars.
It's actually the we're talking about the Acura TL 2 which was sold in Australia as the Accord Euro because we got both the chords, we got the inner court and the Japanese Accord.
So to differentiate them, there was an obviously, it was a good differentiation. People still going to undertale
is asking, you know, I want to buy new Honda Accord you wrote.
Yep. Sorry.
Can't do that anymore. Yeah, they almost do that were
everywhere. They still, I everywhere.
Like, they were, they sold buckets of the things, like, I was there. Mazda 6 has, and, and that was
it. Like those two were just selling
like hotcakes. Back in the early 90s, the story
that early 2000s and and upwards and like that now because they're a good car to drive. And again I'm not going to get
on a ramp it. Yeah fantastic thing I would
suspect was having this little havin this conversation, you know that I said I would buy an eight happily by an accord your again. Like I would I would love to get
one I get one day. So yeah I mean if if the CRV
that you've got had been Flawless, you know and you just Wrapped with it, will you just stay with it?
You know, like, yeah, I'm fixing problems.
I put another hundred thousand, I bet it hasn't been, you know, there's been a few Benson Negley things without can I, yeah, but it still has two and a half years factory warranty because it is Sydney when we bought it without having none.
If it wasn't for the squeaky brakes and the fumes smell and the knock, in the, whatever it was, you know, like have knowing things that have all been sort of sorted.
But yeah, if it hadn't done a done any yet, probably just go.
That's right. That's right.
Let's, let's wait and see what the next few years bring.
Yeah. Yeah.
Exactly. Which is a novel.
I mean it's not. That might, you might have
ironed out the bugs and she's fine now for a while.
Yeah. Yeah, watch this space.
This is mr. Bunting.
What have I been doing? I've been doing a lot of running
around Arena has a roadworthy Barina is currently for sale with no Ridge. But yes, It worthy to someone
that wants to just go rage out themselves.
I do have a book in forage in a couple of weeks which is the earliest appointment I could get but then that will put the price up. So it's sort of like I've got an
appetizer, two and a half Grand as is which is a very cheap Road where the car or three grand. It'll be, you know, one thing if
I do, end up registering it so so that's sort of.
Yeah. Ready to go for anyone that
likes the idea of a very cheap little Auto auto are steer hatch. It drives.
I drove around for a day in traffic.
In everything, it drives beautifully.
So, yeah, it's just very low cage to.
Isn't it 85,000 case on it? Yeah, it looks so perfect.
As a few chips in the paint. And as you know, but it's bright
red and it's shiny and the Interiors neat.
And, you know, it's where you get a ride with your car, for two and a half grand these days. It's it's quite cheap for that.
So, I've had a bit of interest in that one person came to overlook and was going to let me know tomorrow, but who knows in the great world of selling cars, you never Bank.
Anything, the Civic vti hatch that I've got has been cleaned inside and out thoroughly. I haven't published it yet but
that's the next step. I'll.
Yeah, I'll get the buffer out and just give the painter tickle up. And then that's going to go and
get a road with you because that to has been sitting unregistered for a couple of years. So once that's roadworthy and
registered and I will register that one then, yeah, that'll be for sale as well. But that's the lovely car, you
know, 72 case and for books and That's a really spacious car.
And as always with these things you know once you buy them and live with them for a little bit, you sort of appreciate the good points to them and that I was saying to David very spacious, you know, it's sort of got this walkthrough flat floor in the back and flat floor. Walk through kind of in the
front, the seats fold, almost flat down.
When you when you do the boot, you know, you can tumble the base and then do it. So it is flat.
It's it's really it when it came out as a Civic.
It sort of looked a bit frumpy compared to the previous EK, which Quite sporty and now, very sought-after.
But that next model was, it was actually a really good car.
It just probably didn't give the Civic buyers quite what they expected. I'm hindsight you kind of go.
Well, it's sort of like a slightly bigger Jazz and jazz is a really practical and like I said before, David know that the rear doors on a jazz open almost 90 degrees.
So getting stuff in and out or getting people in a is really easy and this is the same. You open the back doors, they
opened So wide and you think gosh for moving stuff and practical sort of round Town hatch, this is brilliantly.
So I've I've been impressed with that with that specific and it's not a model I really knew much about until you own one, because there was the three-door, hatchback, we didn't get it here, but that may include them in the UK and put a badge on them. Yeah, they did it very sought
after. Well, yeah, we need P3.
Type are correct. So that The brain of that
specific, what else survived been doing?
Spending a lot of money on diesel recently in the that's very expensive to fill up diesel.
Where's the Moke at the Moke? Is at my mechanic to do the
final brake bleeding and manifold gasket and gearbox oil leak. I crawled under it and because
it's leaked dripped oil, consistently since I got it and not just a little bit like quite a lot of oil.
Is dripping out of it. So I thought this is got to be
kind of obvious where this is coming from.
So I put it up on the ramps about a week or so ago and crawled around under it and it was Dripping on me while I was under there. So I look and you can see
there's a selector shaft from the gear where it goes into the into the gearbox, some or the the gear lever goes into the into the engine / gearbox combination in those, and they share a sump. So the engine oil is the gearbox
oil in a mini or a Moke anyway, Is a seal.
That was I think it was right out and so it's just going drip drip, drip, and yeah, bit of a Google, and that's a very common problem. And there's a modified seal kit,
you can get and you want to stop your mocha leaking.
This is what you do and it was all over the internet.
I went right from what I can see.
And what I'm reading that is the oil leak problem.
So I've given my mechanic that kitten said, make that go away.
He hasn't done any of it, of course but it's not.
At least I've done my part. I've had it towed there and I've
provided the Beats. So all he has to do is do the
work. So that's where that's at.
What else have I been doing? I've got the Moke side screens
booked in for this weekend so I'm taking it to the upholstery guy to get new windows in the in the soft top and everything.
So that's happening, I bought new, perspex screens for either side of the windscreen, you can get the brand-new, I picked them up last night, so soon as I The back of the boat.
Those in, that's an easy ID job. So it's all, you know, it's for
the tiny little coming to this one of the online.
Option platforms. Collecting cars or trains garage
has got an Australian. Oh, yeah, there is one for
collecting cars. Yeah.
With the non original seat in it.
It's got like a bench seat in the front.
All right, that it's definitely a I California.
Yeah, well that's it. White California.
So yeah I think that's it for the car world for now.
Matthew, many math. You know, I really, I really
done much with cars over the last, the last few weeks it's been driving, the laser hell of a lot.
So I was, I said I had a laser service and everything has been gotten back hand brake works, good meal.
Yeah, no it's no issues with that card as just dry just dozens dozens job of driving very very well.
So I'm very happy with that. It is my servants month,
starting December 1st. So typhoons booked into go.
The first week expensive month to have a service month - yeah, I know, I didn't really think I didn't really think that far ahead. I'm trying to do my Christmas
shopping now, good idea. So yeah, that's booked in the
MR2 is booked in and then I think that that's it really?
Cuz because the the the the fiercest had a head its work done before so that's got nothing doesn't have anything.
NG to do with that. So yeah I think that that's
virtually in our minds and yeah I think I think we are very very good anyway gentlemen as well talking earlier before the show about sorry as during the show I should say with David's going to buy a rough for experience and looking at reforms experience dealership markups. Now I sent you guys a a if you
are stored in the chat a mark a point five Fiesta ST like mine and Basically, I'm color then call it black roofs.
Was it a black roof? And it's got more case in mine.
And it's like, I think, well, they want a 43 40 to 80 this in Melbourne, is in the cell phone, okay?
Okay? But I'm just like, like, it's
just, it's insane, what they put, you know, and put the thing is, the issue is, people are paying for it and and that's the reason why it keeps happening now.
Do I do. R is in particular like, you
know what, The whole idea behind behind your principle of, I'll be coming into this industry, was wanting to help buyers buy cars and, and do the right thing.
But it's hard with these markers because it's just, it's just, it's gettin. It's Gettin in say, like I don't
America, there's in what they call Market adjustments of like, double the price of the car. Like, it's just, it's just
Insanity. Like, I don't understand how
they are. The people can can justify, you
know? I would just say no, I'm rather
wait 18 months and didn't give you organization another 20. 20
grand over the Rope over the asking price because it's just insane. That's, that's, unfortunately,
the industry ride, like Ford CEO.
Forgot his name, something. Finally, he is, he's come out
and said openly to the balloon. I folks there that, you know, if
you want to be in this business, long term, you've got to stop marking things up the way things are.
I do in some ways in Australia, we're lucky for whatever reason, that dealers are not that crazy because they'll get called out for it, pretty easily. But as long as we have the The
supply demand situation with the fiesta is, it's, you know, the obviously not no more around and they won't be coming.
So, the dealers are doing what they can and what they normally would do, I find that eventually the market will sort itself out.
We're not going to have a repeat of what's happened with covert situation. Unless something really goes
wrong up north on a small island or Taiwan, but The, you know, the supply and demand constraints, the car sales already has 180,000 cause up for sale now.
Well, they put down 220,000 at one stage, during early covid.
So cars are now hanging around longer.
On car sales, people are not buying them.
People are not sure what they're going to do.
They'll be a lot more coming up for sale as interest rates continue to go up and people really start to feel the pinch with energy costs and everything else going up.
So in Australia, will be You know, the market will start to settle but you know I just think it's just opportunistic Behavior as soon as you know like the Fiesta ST that you shared 43-yard Grand and how much were the new like 39 know like studies my paid just over 38 on the road.
So yeah. And and that was with the
extras, I put in the car, you know.
Yeah. So this one's actually a
Volkswagen dealership to so that's it.
Yeah. I did see that.
Yeah. So like you know it was 33 Grand
before in rows and then I bought I'll put all the extra accessories on a bit. Like it's just it's in Sunny
like I find it hard. It's almost like it's it's kind
of not fair for a lot of people like it's like some people like they know people are desperate to buy a car.
You know, some people just like I need a car this point and there and, you know, they just they just have them and they do it, like, I made a mine, he bought a camera.
Hybrid earlier this year. And he he was coming out of a VW
Jetta which blew up and he's like, I need a car.
I need a car now because I can't get to work.
So he walked into a Toyota dealership and said, I need a car like I do, I'd like a camera because it's just just work and all I do is drive to work and back and he's like, how much is that one? And he said to the price and
he's like, he's like that's a lot of money that isn't that what's more? Isn't that more than what they
should be like? Well, if you want, if you want
for the price you're asking for, You have to wait six months and he couldn't wait six months. So you know, we got in of going
in the middle, getting a demo which had kazon it but was still more than brand-new pricing. But use it was just that
desperately needs to get into a car and he got into work.
Anybody I think you've had two or three grand extra for an ex demo, and I was just like, I was like, dude, he's like my I had no choice. He's like, they they had me and
they knew they had me too soon as I walked in the door.
I'm like you should have told me man, you know, we could we could we could have done something here.
But he was just like that opportunistic, though.
They knew they knew that they had me and I couldn't do anything about it, and that's why he ended up spending a bit more money even on a technically used car.
It's that is a dealership, just in your ass.
Can't read the name of that. I just Googled it but what?
I thought it was but it's not easy and it's amazing in the stock that they have that. I drove past the other day.
They had three ionic five, just there.
They've had models threes, they have and model why Tesla's?
They've got they had A RAV4 in the front, which was a cruiser so that, that has the sunroof and the like and that had 68 880 on the window. The Ionix were all 99, I think
99. So these are obviously cars
they've ordered and you know now come through and they're selling them as at a markup with new cars.
I think that I presume is not a franchise dealership, so I presume that's how they're getting them.
But yeah. I was just gobsmacking in the
fact that you know, they're only putting those prizes.
Only because people will pay, and I'm sure it's it, and that's, that's the whole problem.
But I read right there, right? Like a random, dealership,
buying all these. What's concerning particular in
Victoria's that If they're buying those Tesla's like ionics, the too expensive if they're buying those Tesla's and somehow are able to claim the rebate from the government on those, that's disgusting. I think thousand dollars of
public money. On a base model and that these
guys have somehow Acquired. And now our flogging it, you
know, the rebates not available, it's only on a brand new one, isn't it? Yes, it's only 11.
So they, if they, if they were near new cars, then yeah, they may have just bought them at one stage and I've kept him, otherwise the ionic. So like they're releasing like
70 to 80 a month and then people go into this bidding.
Ward, try and secure one every month and here they are sitting at a dealership and a huge sort of markup.
So interesting, sort of business and like your car Journey now trying to find something that's of good value.
That has everything that you're looking for.
I think the private sellers are more than likely to have it.
If you're looking for something on the used car market to be a better buy than trying to get something off a deal.
And And one of the class class you had because obviously you worked in the you were a car dealer, I still it still technically ha but where, you know, sell something brand new BMWs, would they because that you'd get in be like, hang on a minute. This is a bit of a hot car.
We're going to up the price. It would that be a collective
decision of or they'll be like or would that be?
You know, that's just in that would just unheard of or is it just kind of what you're seeing now in 2022?
You know, November we'd kind of times is it?
It is it was a very common to have markups like that.
And let's say for example you get a you know BMW M2 in there in like a really rare color or like it, you're like a little individual color. That would that was ordered all
the juice, all the fruit, everything that you know, top spec car. Let's say it, let's say it's 140
Grand odd money. I don't think that I am to that
much money but like and then they boost the buyer you know another 10 grand just to say because it's you know it's a would that happen with that. Would you see that happen?
Or when see a lot of that? No, because back then, it wasn't
that sort of Market, you know, was if it was 110 new or whatever. Well, it's going to be less
secondhand, you know, it was, that was the rule of thumb.
I mean, maybe with something like an M3 E46 CSL where they brought 27 to the country and, you know, that sort of thing it's super rare and, you know, that sort of stuff there might have been some mock-ups on, you know, like they might have been worth more than they were new to some people but no, they Always went down, cars would go South Winds, you might get something that was more juicy like you say like that but it's never going to be back then. It was never going to be more
than what it was new. It's only in.
Yeah, in these times that you see that, but that discretion is yet entirely up to the used car Department.
You know, used car manager would would be the one who's like, well, what's out there? What can we get?
You know, how hot is this thing? Yeah, but see, he's the other
flip the coin know like if If people are actually paying money for these cars and they can technically guys but they have whatever the hell they want for. Absolutely everything, you know,
everyone gets up in arms in Meadows, it's not a crime to make money and it's not a crime to you know, have something that someone wants will great good on you.
You know, it could be townhouses.
It could be cars, it could be, could be stereos could be anything. So I think this is right.
I think you know, we've been in this little bubble and that bubbles coming off due to as reset interest rates and other pressures. And, and stock, and what have
you? And so it's not going to end
overnight, but I think the bubble will, you know, will gradually deflate and we'll get back to a kind of more normal scenario. So make hay, while the sun
shines, you know, dealers have been, you know, discounting hand over fist. And I mean, I'm not not you
know, saying they'll crying poor, but it was, it was, it was a dog-eat-dog tough tough tough market for many, many years and it was Decline for many years before this covid, boost.
So if they can make some gross out of cars, that's what they're doing. And why the hell not like I have
no, you know, I have no issue with a dealer asking more for used car. If they think they can get it,
you know, I agree with that on that front as well.
Like it's not illegal to make money on cars or anything like that. It's the usual thing buyer,
beware or whatever. I don't know if you don't want
to pay that, don't pay it, don't buy it.
That's right. No, go buy something else so you
won't have one. It's it's the market is
self-regulating. You know, if everyone else is
asking 80 and you're asking 120 and you can get 120, will everyone? Else is stupid?
You know, if you run else, is asking 80 and you're asking 120, and you don't get one phone. Call the thing sits on your lot
for six months. Well, there's your answer.
That's right. Don't get all the hoopla about
it. It's, yeah, and it's forcing
people to either not upgrade and stay in the car they've got, which is fine. You know, we're all driving
cars. They will work within reason.
They're all, they're all okay. So it's just like, well, like
David said before, it's a bit of a first world problem, no one's got a gun to your head. No, you know, there's plenty of
cars around for everyone at might just not be what your heart desires. Well, if you know tough titties
like, you know, this is plenty of Mark.
That's where you can't. You've had you've never had the
choice or the variety or the quality of cars that you get in Australia, you know by and large.
Our Market is very kind to cars, you know, the our climate is very good. We don't have sold on the roads.
We don't have in Victoria yearly Road were these yet and so there's yet. But there are there are there
are plenty of very good older five to ten year old cars.
No one's going to be walking, you know.
So if we are Have to kind of just suck it up for a while because you guys are inflated. Well, let the people pay what
they want to pay. Yeah.
So is that is that the answer is that the answer is that the answer like to saying, you know what, it's if, if it comes out of which it should, it will go back to normal.
But in the meantime, if you're not, if you're not super desperate, just keep doing what you've got or just or just try find something that's a little bit older.
You know. Like if I said to you are God, I
need a car now, I've got 10 grand to spend.
Can you go and buy a good cover 10 grand on this?
Was he or she can, you know for 20 you can have door 30, you gave us Smorgasbord of choice. You know, either new and well
maybe slightly used you know. It's it really is a bit of a
storm in a teacup like and for those that are desperate and do have to have a 300 series, Land Cruiser, well go pay under an 80 grand, you're going to whatever laughs, you've got the dollars, go do it. But, and if anyone can selling
one can make money on it and I'm like Go for it, it's no one's forced into this. You know, it's it's a purely
personal decision, whether you want to go and pay above odds or not. And I think that's the other.
I think that's the thing. That's the thing that I like,
you know, it's up to you if you want to pay like I wasn't going to. I was prepared to pay over 40
grand for a used Fiesta ST. When I was like I can buy a
brand-new one for like you know, 37 ground and made off to that.
Is you have to wait and that's exactly right.
Of course you don't mind waving and that's the trade-off.
Yeah. And I was like I was like that.
I waited seven months, big deal like I was like, oh so I can I can afford to wait but you're right.
I'd like you know if you can't afford to wait and you but you do wanna spend the market by something cheaper or just just organize something a Telltale everything sorts out and you little cards and that good again, you know, like like Dave and I was saying before, you know, work out what your budget is go and find something that does what you want within that.
And, you know, there's always something people just get all, get all the bit precious about all, but it doesn't have Head Up Display or, but it's, you know, I don't know.
Teal or if you buy a good kind of, it's out of warranty you want native warranty, you know? So, like sort of, I don't know,
it's all a bit even gets all their precious about it.
I think the main the main be issue here though is is like cars that are good. I've got like, you can't, you
can't even place an order on and they're, like, you like this.
The, for example, I 20ms and, and stuff like that, where there's start their shut, the gates, you can't order them.
We're, we can't fulfill them, but if you want one, we can sell it to you still and is what you're going to pay.
And I think that's the big issue.
I think that's I think that's what really hurts the consumer there, because like obviously like and pads, you're going to test this fifty thousand dollars for a rolling shell open it.
Asuka is 15 is just easy is insanity but someone bought a balloon but you know are there other Sylvia's other absolutely are they Trooper? Absolutely but you know it's
there you can still get them but will this this kind particular?
You kind of an order. Um, first of all, I cannot 20
and I've seen a few on iTunes on dealership Lots way more want, then that when they should be, but they're like, well, you can order me if you want one. Here it is.
And this is what the price is and tough.
So, and I think that's where it hurts the consumer, personally?
Yeah. I think a lot of the, you know,
any of those sort of I-20 ends, we know where they're going.
They actually parked behind the hind ionic fives, and the Tesla's that David seen, that same deal are so it's, but once again, And I think the from a consumer point of view, there needs to be, you know, more self-education and everyone can Google stuff and can sort of find out what people are paying.
I feel that, you know, and and it was website, we could go to Dealerships have been in fight with each other for a long, long time. And now there's this larger and
larger groups that, you know, the smaller guys are not going to be around for too much longer.
This is probably the last time where the sun is shining for them for many Brands. But then again, the
manufacturers even the new ones. No, they can't go.
They can't launch into a market without having a dealership or distributed Network. So If once the supply caches up
demand sort of settles or plateaus, then I think consumers will be in a better spot but it's up to people to do the research rare cars. Like the fiestas, I 20 NS that's
sort of the dream of any manufacturer, right limit the supply fear of missing out and then the dealers and then everyone's got 50. Yeah, that's the thing where I
was watching your also share your view of the fiesta and like kind of like two days ago and it this all you do over there were still quite funny actually. And he's like he's like you
know, the problem with this car is and he just pointed the camera. So I can breaking the fourth
wall. It's you guys.
You didn't buy it now. It's gone.
Yes. And he's kind of right.
But I would still like saying well, you know, it's I guess it's also what people Wanted and, you know, when you see Jim knees and stuff, you know, way more than what they should be, it's just, it's insanity. And like, you're right, RAV4,
hybrids Cruisers 68 when you say 68, Grant, come on man.
Like, that's yes, that's an insane amount of money.
Yeah, I think too that with the fiesta, it may even if people did buy that may not have saved. It depends, how much profit
there was an each one and we always say, Straley has a tiny market. Like the Honda Jazz people,
bought Honda Jazz is by the bucketload, 408 bugger all And that's why they're not bringing it in anymore, you know, just wasn't financially viable to bring it in was because people didn't like it. So there are bigger decisions of
playoff and it's not just, you know, if Fiesta had sold another thousand units a month, you know, and it may not have saved it. No, I like looking and I was
going to save it because they've been officially cancelled it, you know. Like there's your even
worldwide. Yeah.
Bed. Like I think I just think the
issue that I think I still think the issue is we've had.
We've got all this you're right there.
You said earlier like a smorgasbords of choice.
Yeah. Yeah.
Joyce than most places in the world and for the last however many years we've had a pretty good run at buying like yeah we paid forty seven grand for my dad's mid spec Pajero brand-new with a tow bar, The Five-Year warranty like that's a lot of four-wheel drive. You know, like the heiress
crosses only what sooner 9 Grand cheaper than that for you.
Like, I know, it's old take and I know it was the last of the line and that sort of thing. But, you know, it's proven,
though, the it's proven. And that was, that was the
market at that time. But, you know, you could get
pretty good value, you know, BMW 3 Series, you could buy in the 60s, you know what I mean? If T's, if you bought a demo,
you know, like you could crunch some pretty nice deals, and that wasn't just for a window that was for the last God, 10 years or something. Plus you've been able to do
that, Honda Civics. It's the the 2017 2018 when the
current generation will be the last generation now.
Yes. The VT is is you could get a
good deal for run 25 Grand. Yeah.
And then I think the IRS is were like 31 or something.
Yeah. I mean that was like a steal for
a long, long time and I mean, you know, but the pinch is now that everything's gone up. It's not just you know the cost
of manufacturing job. Trying to catch up.
It's just finding that happy medium.
How far can we push the consumer before the switch or go by themselves and mg3, apparently, they're selling.
Thirteen. Fourteen, thousand a year at the
moment. Apparently, they rust underneath
the not painted very well, was that what you were telling me David someone sent through some photos of that year, the one that was under the dashboard was, all right, under the dash is, look at the middle and it's because it's not just not painted under there. It's all just started to corrode
and I think it'll be, it'll be interesting, you know, history will be interesting on those MGS, you know, shiny and nice now drives. Well, when it's a new car, but
five years on like, you know, your ma from RE driven Adam, it'll be very interesting to go, okay?
It's not everyone bought these with 100,000 km out of warranty.
Is it still great like us? Uzuki Swift would be more if
actually a bucket interesting to see and you never quite know, I like a beer bottle of And you never quite know to you open it in five years times. And here's the thing with like
your dad's pad. Yeah.
Like he could sell it for a lot more than he paid for it now.
Oh, we could probably make 10 grand on that car if we wanted to. But, yeah, and then you got the
argument of what are you replace it with?
You know, I can replace it for the same money for something better. So so you say, oh great, you
know, I'm papers with more whatever.
Yeah, and you roll on, but yeah, I think we had it too good for too long, really in Australia. He should Well we've discussed
the answer already. Sell it by an accord Euro.
That's what cash it you give you a smart financially, your cell in a while the markets up and you go buy something cheap, that's still good because you've got the thing with us is we've got inside a knowledge that not everyone has we know them to call during luxury with 30,000. Can it is amazingly good car
crash, you know, other people just look at that and go to nearly 20 years old, you crazy, you know, but financially you're way better off, not having Lease payments, you know, cashing in on, whatever you own now and and putting that money into something else that will make you money rather than you know draining a hole in your pocket. Like I Mitsubishi Magna on a
farm. Yeah, yes, mr.
Adams Choice ricotta cheese for the Mega, is that day?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's interesting, but yeah, I know, are you that's what we do? You know, we buy and sell cars
all day every day and I'll sniff out a bargain and I'll some quite happy to drop something old.
That's still good, rather than something new, you know, I've never, I've never felt forced on you.
I've never built bought a new car, never felt forced to go and buy a new car. Yeah, here, many fun secondhand
things to jump into a little bit.
Like, that's the only reason I bought my first.
I knew it was because second hand.
There were just ridiculously more expensive.
I was like, I was like, that's just insane.
I get the argument. It went in like, since you know,
my sister did the same with her human died.
A few years ago, you know? And I 32nd and was like 17, 18
Grand, have a brand-new 1424, it's like a pinky color.
Hit your options. Get a new one.
It's, you know, in year warranty on it.
It's it's sort of was a no-brainer with some things to do that and that's why we bought the new page it was like, you know, we're quite happy to go buy second-hand pad, just said to Dad are, you know, 30 grand, 35 Grand, it will look at all the examples for that money. Had done a hundred.
In case plus, which is like five years of driving six years of driving, and you kind of go, well, you know, it's not that much of a stretch. This is get a new one.
Yeah. And if you're going to hang on
to it, it's kind of worth it. In that case.
Anyway, we got a quiz so our consumer advice is hold off, or binary code. You wrote it?
If I stop crying. Stop winking.
No one's got a gun to your head drive the car.
You've got to get it serviced. So so the car took top tip for
this evening is hold off. Dropping what you've got or
buyer or do you got they go and speak to her Gian Carlo?
He'll look after. Yeah, that's the way it was.
Yeah, it's just it's kind of just Insanity, really?
Isn't it? Just you're just feels it.
Feels like a bit of a weird weird topic.
But, but anyway, we have got the quiz.
They are, you know, the quiz three competitors today, it's The Clash of the Titans. I'd say they would versed verse
rizz. And basically, 10 questions for
some bonus questions. Are you ready, fellows?
Yeah. Right, It's let's go question 1.
What is the van in the popular cartoon Scooby-Doo named?
David, David. The Mystery Machine.
The mystery machine is absolutely correct.
Well though, nice question 2. What was the first foreign car
company to venture into America to sell its cars?
So, first non-american brand to sell cars in America.
No American brand. It, it was a it Pleasure.
It wasn't incorrect. Yeah even David was it
Rolls-Royce in that as well I nearly said that okay no would have been wrong to his Mercedes incorrect, it was v w VW will the First with the with the beetle because they Americans that they took it back after the war they loved it.
So Amazing advertising in the states for those two window and you that's, that's what. Yeah.
Yeah. They did some great ads and
testing VW is quite good with the odds.
Aren't they question 3? Which Australian manufacturer?
First fitted seat belts in Australia, Ed Ed.
I'll hang on Australian manufacturer.
Yes. Holden Holden is correct.
Well done. This question.
What did they do during the time when The seat belts first, introduced to show the strength of seat belts to promote them.
Hey, David, David going there. First, they I'm pretty sure they
picked up a car with them. Yeah, they suspended it.
I will, I will pay that. Okay, that David, what was it?
We know. It wasn't a teams to know if it
was a bit earlier than that. H d-- or that HR.
I think what they did was They just to demonstrate the strength of the seat belts, but they did was, they suspended the Holden with a crane with one single strap with a second car underneath it. Which is all I'm going to see
belt. Unfortunately, the crane driver
going to be erratic and and a steel Buckle split and the car top car fell onto the other car, but it wasn't the seat belt that broke it will say yeah to hope to cars.
Yeah, one of the yellow. There you go.
What impressive? Very question for automotive?
Pioneer August horch founded. The August horch automobile work
in 1909 in Germany. So after a short time of with
that name he decided to change the brand name to howdy.
What did LD originally? Stanfill connect.
I get a couple of them they would have been.
Yeah. If you Too Buzzy David.
Something do it automobile and something to do with Deutsche know it was it Auto Union the Anu, you incorrect?
Yeah, there is breath. Was it because Audi wasn't
originally German. It was actually Saudi howdy
howdy. This is so cool.
I'll give you a name but in German Language, which means to he listened. So basically the Latin word for
horch is 2 here. So if you know, if that's where
you can hear a lot of Audi's drive past of quite often broken, but that's another story misery.
Yes, question 5. Now school check Edward one.
David tours is on point. Five question is 5, the Tesla
plaid does the 0 to 100 Sprint, how quickly Ed, Ed their damn quick. Those playthings I'm going to go
3.2 in breaths, where is 2.5? It's incorrect David David.
It was 2.9 incorrect. I'll give the point.
Five. Two resumes closest, it's a 2.1
seconds. Whoo, I think.
Yes, the model S plaid is 2.1. You are right actually, sorry,
I've compiled Mass describe that question scrap that question.
It's annoying question quiz. I'll give you the point there
where there is. It's not about that man if you
want to get real Next about Tesla, you jump on to Twitter to let. Yeah, that's where it all
happens. Literally quit on Tesla, same
company. They all the station, good for
your organs to be propelled that fast through space, it's just, it's not healthy. Well, no, I agree.
I agree. Especially, when there's no
accompanying vibration and sound and I like when you're sort of shove, David prints through the air at a one bedroom and and that's what that's like and it's not good for you.
Upset your lunch. Yeah.
It's got to do with it Palladium.
Yeah. That's and I think it's I don't
know some reference out of Spaceballs.
That wouldn't surprise me actually.
Given the fan goes up to 11. So typical active warp speed or
something. I thought it stood for
platonically Ludacris, Luda against the Italians to see, which would win to present to be the actual car to be made.
During the day to, which they will to present their models, what happened to the Australians, clay model next to the Italians. What happened to the clay model,
the climate has to be to be to be selected.
What happened? Yeah, probably melted or
something. Yeah.
Yeah, you're right. And it was the paint had all
melted off of it a lot actually, which bit, which is because the actual piece of medieval supposed to be a lot of different looking guy was actually supposed to be a good looking car but basically the paint was all damaged and melted and broke and the designer who swore it was the Italians you sabotaging anybody. To this day that it was Farm,
where they dropped it off the night before.
Whatever it was, came back the next day destroyed.
And he's like, he knew it was sabotage and know and he ended up leaving the company over and he was he was the head of our Leyland's design designs here in Australia, so he actually it crushed him a bonus question. We all know the p76 was doomed
from the start, but how small was its budget to be to be to be Act. I'll give you the closest True.
Oof budget for what the whole design holds on production and everything. There the whole budget, they
weren't given a lot of money in terms of car design.
Let's be honest. Wow.
Okay wolf. So we've got to think it's 1970s
money, okay, put it this way. How much is it costed as other
thing here in the seventies I'll start the ball rolling.
I'll say 25 million. 25 Mills has mr.
Prince, 25 million The price for the project, the project, the whole project he sees project 25 million dollars.
That's, that's really think. I would have said like five
hundred thousand five hundred K, okay, fifty thousand dollars and a pizza. Pizza.
All right and fly model Pizza. The answer was 20 million
dollars. So David gets the truck.
I Spit on that hunk of shit from the Range Rover V8.
Everything else was out of a part.
In all they have to do is design.
The body was it's too costly. There is a reason why British
Leyland doesn't exist anymore. Edward and this is the, this is
the, this is what happens. Okay, I'm the guy that tried who
worked back in the day when he said the number that the build on them was so bad and they would get them regularly brand-new off the truck into the dealership and one side of the car would be one Speck and the other side of the car was another suspect so you'd have a super, you know, super badging and the body line mold on one side and the executive on the other side. Wow, Angie is very sad times in
Australian manufacturing history.
I think that's a bit of a doctor on it.
And yeah, the early cars were horrible, but towards the end of its actual run, they're actually like so many cats, you know, looking JB chimaera, and then jje chimeras by the end of it, you know, T and Megan is TTP Magnus, you know, but unfortunately, the damage is done.
Exactly exactly. Right.
Like the power My sword attack a for EOP 76.
Not long ago. The blue ones.
Yeah. And you know, I thought well
kudos to you buddy. That's black still sticking with
it and you know, loving it. Oh yeah, Rod that comes on the
show. He said he's had like three or
four tiger florio's and he's time oh well Kandi still got a piece of music switch here which is in his garage which is gradually fixing. I took care of me since he was
very young he what was his first car?
He's kept his face so just get it.
Ready? Then there's the opposite
though. Some cars, the first is the best
and it's and they get worse and worse and not thinking of things like, you know, they just like the, MX-5 it, not that the new MX-5 is in good, it is. But one gets a bit better and
loses. The pop-up, lights in the cute
door handles, then the third one gets a bit fatter again, and it's sort of Strays away from what it, what it was meant to be and look in that. Ice if they're sort of somewhat,
brought it back to what it was meant to be.
But often you sort of go on the Jen, one's the one to get.
He's right? That's right.
Like Porsche 911s. Like, you know, quite a bit T
car when they when they were first when yeah.
Freaking huge, you know? So yeah, I mean let's see how
electric Asghar is if they if they gradually get bigger and bigger or smaller and smaller have to get lighter.
Yeah that's true. It's heavy at the moment.
So Yeah, just quickly on that. Daihatsu assigned a pretty big
deal this week. Hmm, bitsy ATL Tesla's battery.
Someone or Tesla's battery supplies as well as the world's biggest battery maker. So love to see electric cars
coming soon. A diet of said by 2030, every
model, then we'll make will be fully electric.
Well even get tired, Sue's here. Well that's that's why we need,
you know, Scotty's artist, Scotty chefs Imports.
Start making that happen. You know I'm saying, like I had
to quite a few years ago. Hopefully are they can someone
bring talks next year when were over there.
Do you remember the two girls? I used to like the terios other
the terrorists. Yes, it looks like if you
sneezed on it over. Yeah.
I mean that's the whole idea but I also kind of cool.
I remember seeing what Iran is a like a like a mid 2000s?
What did they finish them? Like, 2004 something like they
was really I think that he left, you know, one.
Somewhere there. Well, do 1 2001 Siri on, then
the 2005, I'm not the charades, I kind of know what it was where they Imports now. I know they were salty so maybe
you were right. Maybe they did go later.
Do I have you left? Australia in 2006?
Are you gonna love them? But I remember seeing this
terrorism and also looks really cool.
And I'm like a car bit. Had a carburetor.
I was, I was, I couldn't believe it.
I was like the only new cards question 7.
According to the internet, how many Mitsubishi 380s were sold?
And it's not 50k and a pizza. Ha, ha ha.
So fools that they only went for him for about two or three years, didn't they? They didn't sell many, that's
for sure. Rizz 1343, hundreds his wrist,
Ed, Ed in 2010 cases and and mr. Prince, I'll say twelve and a
half. Well, Sold thirty two thousand
thirty two thousand and forty four of which 30,000 195 was sold in Australia. The rest worth I think sold to
somewhere in the middle east from memory.
Bonus question, what is a TMR 380?
Rizz rizz are motor sports Racing Edition Haiti which was supposed to compete with the ti. Are the Oreo, you know, I'll
give you a point five because it was supposed to compete with the TRD oriented. This car was made to be a direct
competitor to it, but if you, someone else could give me the exact reason as to why was it direct competitor?
I will give him the chocolate. I'm just trying to think of the
words of TR because the Emma was Mitsubishi racing, not really sure. So don't don't worry about the
name as such, but what was the car in general?
Like what it was a 380 but what was done to it and how he special ed, it was too Bo charged an all-wheel drive.
It wasn't to resizing, it wasn't all drug.
Well, what's the point then? What are they doing Mitsubishi
racing Edition by that one you want?
I wish you to give that to you but I can't miss the prince.
Would you like to have a guess at what they did to this car to make it? What was the TLD or eons?
You know kind of thing is they can't miss supercharger.
They did supercharge it. Well done.
I'll give you 45 because I gave half the point to R is because he is here because you mentioned that it was supposed to be the Tod competitor. So I'll give you that.
So they it was a supercharged version which they only sold 20, they only made 20 of them. Wow.
Well, I saw one the other day driving in Williamstown, I was like, I was like, oh my goodness, I have not seen one of those in real life since the motor show and I was just like, hmm, But I always want off the road because I know I knew what I was like, I'm one of those days.
People actually knows what that is and I was like, I was like I think your team are headed to my bed.
You can stuff and and I got I got I got really.
I got really excited. And stuff is like what you said
about him like a magnet like magnet.
It's a 381 and Heating. Bonus bonus question.
How much did the last Mitsubishi 380 made cell phone?
It was so for charity. It was the last one ever made
that. Wasn't that?
Sell for stick was a myth you or cheese?
It was I can tell you actually like isn't gonna have a huge bearing on the heck. I want to tell you.
It was the last 380 sedan. Solid was a silver platinum in
limited edition but in number 3 2004 four which is the last thing you know they made 30 2014 4 of them, we select product the production line on March 27th 2008.
It was auction in April 2008 with a blank price tag being donated to Charities chosen in consultation with the winning bid on. So how much Ed fifty thousand
dollars? Fifty K is incorrect.
If you land on, I'll tell you the right, the right thing, but 50K, David, I'll go 65 65. What's the charity?
It is, where R is in honor of the patch itself. 380,000.
That's actually a good guess, but it's incorrect the closest to it was David, it's not for a hundred thousand dollars on the dot. So I can be the point five
because we do points for a half closest to and the second to last Vehicle, which is a similar spec, is at the bird with my resume. Yeah, question 8, do you believe
in the original movie? The Original Fast and Furious
movie Mia, who is Brian's love interest drives, a what it head?
Miata. Me?
How I saw is a great. Yes, but this is dying in the is
incorrect. It is not a Miata.
Yeah, I drove me out of Never seen the Fast and Furious movies. Never really, you know, seen at
all. Never now because all of us
thought that they'll kill cars for me if I've watched him.
But yeah, obviously it's not the case.
I'm gonna take a bit of an initially reference.
What should I say? Lady.
It wasn't a society but good? Good try.
Good. Try and I have a guess you can
was it an Acura Integra. It wasn't Acura Integra well
done. Whoo, good guess.
Thanks Rog. Popped up the other day.
I saw, I think was a model for science or something, and it was an Acura Integra from Fast and Furious.
I didn't know which movie but they go there.
Yeah, there was U2 in the first one was jarrow.
Do you remember the rapper Ja Rule?
And if it's murder, basically, he had an integral Jesus, which they had over there and then me as was I believe in Integrity as far as well they couldn't then the budget couldn't stretch of type ours. Yeah, they both had question
nine. The Falcon V8 came back in which
generation of the Falcon after it finished in the XE.
Ed Ed V8, Falcon came back in Houston the XE e, EA, I don't think they had it in a baby might be needy incorrect.
Who David David? Hmm, maybe it was a EB is
correct David? What up mr.
Bunting, one off. Again, one last question,
question 10, how many generations of the Subaru Outback? Have their main editing in ed
What we're going to say you buzzed inmate, you know, you've busted ha ha he out back. One, two, three, four weeks,
talking, six. That is absolutely correct.
It would but I'm six generations and the the Subaru Outback.
Well done squash the other beat you were going to say including the Liberty based or Legacy basis.
Out back which was called Liberty, elegant Legacy Outback overseas. So yeah score check Rizzy, Ross,
1.5 Edward on 3. And tonight, we're not on a
grand. Total of six is very much, very
nice, very nice. Very, very good husband.
There you go. Yeah, well, you know, you can
think Ed for the you can thank bunting.
You can. Thank you.
Got tea. You can take Missy Rose for The
Supercharged answer, because tag ID and you guys have learned a lesson about the history of the p76, where the designers Sabotage by the Italiano's stay away.
And they sabotaged, obviously, never proven but, but was rumored unit room and blindingly obvious.
So that is the car quiz. Tonight's winner, hold the
bragging rights and I obviously can't tell the difference between different models of Tesla at this point because I see I wrote it down wrong. So I Kaiser is I sincerely,
thank you. I did have a question though
when you were when you mentioned the special edition 380?
Yeah. How can you tell like is that
got like a spoiler or a special badge or yeah.
How do I go ahead? Like a body kit?
Had 19 inch wheels. I had a full full body kit.
It's but I'm reading it now. Twin Chrome myeloid tips, the
supercharged engine, obviously it did the 0 to 100, and I think six seconds, which is pretty quick.
At $56.90 was cheaper and 15 of them were already were
assembled. A team again, detox facility.
So team has since 40 Mitsubishi really aren't so for Russia.
Yeah, yeah. Which we should belly up and the
last five were were from Adelaide.
So they had the conversion done in and Adelaide, they're all individually numbered and basically they kind of move the production unit after they announced the end of local production, which we just we just sad because I put it was pretty cool, made to 130 kilowatts and was based on On the 3.8 V6. I don't know if they were all
orders are all manuals. The didn't say basically, the
are going to be a cool little piece of Australian history to hold on to. So really, really, really cool.
New everybody who have the season.
Yeah, exactly. And you like explaining the
damping, but as I said, as I am, I would have been the only person to have, like, freaked out when I saw it, because it just looked like every other Mitsubishi 380.
But, but me, Peggy, a few few of the 380s were government-owned in Brunei. They went to Bruno to be, to be,
to be a now owned by the government.
Yeah. They had a bit of an
interesting, interesting history, and that was, that was supposed to be saved and be sold as protons, but that didn't happen. Yeah, it was the three of these,
an interesting story. Sorry, being proton.
It would have been, it would have been the perodua.
I think that's the that was a big one.
They had at the time, but, um, but other padana that would've been a bandana. But basically it It was, It was
kind of Mitsubishi make or break kind they spent over six hundred million dollars developing that car, which is a bit more than the other 20 million this season 6.
So yeah, it was, it was interesting, it was interesting but it was make or break our, but it didn't really sell well.
And it's a shame because I was actually not a bad kind of drive from all accounts. That A380 was actually a quite,
a good thing. Yeah.
So basically, it's sad that that again, it's another one of those train cars that got they got can, but yeah, $380 sorry, after an $80 Six hundred million dollars to develop the three the 380. So yeah, all gone.
But if you have at, if you have a team are, if you look at Muppets, what attea a TMR 380 is you guys would be like, that's actually kind of cool. So yeah, it was interesting to
see one in the flesh and again, I almost crashed my car looking at her butt nickel. Very cool.
