"And I guess you guys on this podcast know my experience at a particular Korean brand and me attempting to Test drive. I and I I 30 n, which is obviously the kimchi eating older brother of the I-20 and based on that I cannot purchase a high-end. I clearly, because my Korean speaking skills are not very good."
"So let's say we've 2013. Okay so if you had the choice would you want rather is 2013 Ford Falcon or would you go over and go for a 2013? Mercedes E-Class or did you go for a 2013? BMW 5 series."
"And he's like, what have I done? No, it's not different to what the current generation CX-9 owners are getting. Yeah, I'm pretty high up. Like, I think that's 13, 12 13"
"...ll whole bunch of merger and then we've got a new MR2 design on there, so check that out. It's possible..."

Does professional idiot. Drive.
I would do the after our death. That is correct.
I know he's alive and Kickin should feel very special special to see it's nice wearing it. No, that's right.
I really have to be quite conscious when we love y'all until after dark, that is color color drops.
How are you guys going? Pretty good.
Nice at the temperatures dropped about 15 degrees from last week today, said hot much more bearable.
Yeah, I was a bit done with living in Darwin.
Yeah, yeah, little like yeah, nuff nuff.
A Darwin, let's get back to Melbourne, please.
Hence, the reason I'm driving this today, I want to fool okay, like the weather's manageable, so in the air con was working, but it stopped and I've just some that I'm not going to fix it. I'm just gonna drive it.
So I haven't driven that like I checked the book is two months and I drove it last. Why?
Like probably drove it though. Yeah.
I was like well I'll enjoy it today.
It's got fuel in it. Just start go.
I got him. I want to for two days ago and
that was three months. I think since I'd been in it.
Well Tobar November, December, Jen.
All in almost fits, almost four months.
Wow, that's a third of a year. Wow.
I think I can. Eight that click OK.
Tragically we need to drive these cars more.
I know, I know. Yeah, I don't want to just like
I'm going to use them now, it's just an excuse to get out just to tell me take that for a spin and it's just yeah just go come see the Rizzi Ross. You know, doing a big as a very
good lady. Once said Rihanna just shut up
and drive. It's very good at good advice
for me, Anna I've always still Fuel and we still can.
Yes. Correct.
Correct. And if you wanted timelines, you
just have to look at her boyfriend ASAP.
Rocky ASAP as in, get there as soon as I pop and drive.
It's good to have you boys on. I think it's got Scotty come in
a little bit, we'll get straight into it with updates.
Really Ross was happening in your end of the world, my friend are updates, wise, to be honest. Not a lot of Seriously been
contemplating parting ways with the Serato but it's.
Yeah. You know, just I think I need to
get around to doing it. So I'll do we shall see and no
further update on the 400 said, the end up with our Elite doctor who cannot be here today, because he has to advise honourable member for Mornington Peninsula Gregory hunt.
In Canberra. So, due to his medical advice
requirements, he's not here. So, he may very well be taken
over that Calvin. The night vehicle for me and
apart from that. Yeah, that's that's that's about
it on the car front for me. My friends.
Nice nice, Scotty. Welcome to the show.
Thank you, sorry, I'm a bit late.
It's a new new laptop. So I just had to get things
sorted and make sure it all works.
As you can see, it's a new year because it is it's the Lunar New Year. So indeed it's true.
It is, isn't it? We'll be wearing grade, it
should be red instead of wearing blue, but Scotty updates.
With you, my friend update update updates.
Unfortunately, I don't have anything at the moment.
My part has arrived and I'm probably going to look at doing it this coming weekend. Nice.
That's the cam angle sensor. That's arrived.
So we look at doing that. Josh might do that at some point
and that's that's it. Yeah likely quite course.
You're like so hardcore. Yeah.
Next, you'll be saying, you know, thinking about installing a floor mat only for the driver side.
How to do the passenger side. Have to Google that.
Yeah. Go back to do back to front.
Yeah, floor mat a DJ It's on the month of July in their calendar.
Mr. David Prince. Oh, got a couple of things I
spent a weekend over it. The gearbox, I don't know if
I've mentioned the gearbox previously on the L.
Have a little bit of sorting. It's a 40-foot container that
our club has full of old bits and pieces.
So the other update I've got is that after last week's show, I had to scoot off fairly quickly because I was going to help young Edward, go and collect a couple of drink.
It's that he picked up and I had to ring Maddie on Wednesday.
They i'mi'm sure I'm getting in top of Ed with his updates at the moment. But go ahead, it were picked up
a couple of exercise 6fg Falcons.
That's company cars. Dedicated, LP, gas, did you ever
think you'd hear those words? You know, Ed's bought two to be
Falcons? Well, to be honest with you
Edward, I was The fact that if J Falcons and it would buntings in the same sentence Eve is scary enough.
It's it's not work on any level and we're living in A Brave New World. Very Avid the rent.
When we heard recently, there was three words in a sentence Ford Ranger and Ed. That was that was and I kind of
forgot. I obviously that that I've now
Three Ford's went before. The only one I'd ever owned.
Was that tourist? Matthew that you love to
mention? That was a long time ago like
ten plus years ago that I am that it was the kicker was we get these two cars and one of them starts, one of them doesn't start with a flat battery. So it graciously said well you
take the one that starts and that was the heike example which had a lazy 448 thousand case on the clock.
So I thought well this would be Singing.
I wonder if we actually get home according to the thing and entering many on Wednesday, I fear I severely underrated the FG Falcon in up until now that car had no right to drive as good as it did with 148,000 case on the clock.
It was smooth and responsive Road will quiet.
Lovely gearbox. I thought.
Wow, no wonder you see so many yellow ones on the road still.
Do you say refined mister? Ooh, big word, big word but it
actually, I'll say it's refined. It was actually very surprising
on a number of levels. And yeah, I was really
impressed. Yeah, I received the phone call
last Wednesday from you and, you know, here I am expecting it to be, you know, to be miserable. And and you like Matt, I just
want to um I kind of want to apologize.
I was like what Car. I mean I grew up my dad had the
Holdings for work so we were as we've talked before you know growing up in Australia you were a holding or Ford family mostly and we what rusted on hold and family rested on being the operative word was passed with some of them but yeah it so I haven't had a lot of experience. I've never owned a Ford and I
haven't had a lot of experience with any others, but no, I was really impressed and it made me a little sad to think.
Wow, this is such Such a good car, obviously capable of massive mileage and yeah no no longer, no, no more and a bit like all all reports of the the last Commodores to the vf2 is probably one of the best cars holding ever made.
Yeah. Now what a swan song to go out
on. Yeah, it's a, would you go out
on a high note? You know?
Well, exactly right. But just makes you sad that to
think where they could have gone you know, is if that it kept on with that sort of development and I think that sort of quality they had towards the end and refine refinement.
There's that word again. Well, I was, you know, I was
really a lot of things and when Chevy took over the VF, Commodore to the satyrs and Badgers, the Chevy SS, and they did it before with the, with the ve Commodore and Manara as the as the, the quarterly Court over the GTO.
They all the Press said, how much better they were than the American Car equivalent like there was just so much better built there. Actually went around corners.
They are coming off. A pretty low bar baby bear.
Yes to be to be fair. What happened?
You know, but it's like it was like for them to say, wow, these things are great. Like there was comments from the
last weekend of the VF Commodore over in America saying, well this is the modern-day E39 M5 manual, gearbox V8 rear wheel drive so then like you just don't get that and it was getting high, praise. But it just didn't stop because
they didn't Market it. So yeah, it was it's, you know,
it is sad and I we Happened before about, you know, it's a shame that this is what the hell, kind of things come to you, but it has and it's, and it's in a sucks.
But I'm actually, really surprised to hear that you were, you were so ridiculously impressed for a card with that many cases to drive that. Well it.
Well obviously if you're looking, you know, to pick one up, you'd think look at and go for 48k, that's got to be naked, you know, I would but the fact it takes, he got there, you know, and and, and still looks perfectly presentable and mind.
You this I think the A, I think we commented it.
Yeah. It's the it's the base of the
driver's seat. It's funny in both cars, it's
identical. The right hand side of the base
has lost all its foamy nurse, so the backrest is actually.
All right. It's where your bum goes and so
it's you feel like you're sitting a bit tedious cited.
Yeah. And it's identical in both cars.
But yeah, funny ones done because it gives L bought them as a pair, the same color. The only difference is ones are
2012. 12 2013, 1 Scott, a tow bar and tint.
One doesn't That's a bad. He only go to different alloy
wheel design that see, you know, the otherwise, they are an identical car. One's done, 3:16 and one's done.
As Dave said, 448, I've pulled the dipstick on, both of them, the oils golden brown. The, you know, they're well
maintained. Well Service cars.
They're both grunty. The trainees are both perfect
and smooth. Did just doesn't, I think if you
had never maintained it and it literally had been a taxi, they'd feel a lot sloppier than they do.
But these is the steering's tight.
The, you know, I've Flicked through the maintenance records on on one of them and it you know, it's had maintenance done like that a radiator, and it's an alternator and, you know, I think the steering rack boots or something and you know, they've obviously had bits and Bobs done over the time but nothing really out of the ordinary. No, no, who had them.
Since you said, he's never had a problem with them so just just always run one melon. He's yeah, amazing.
But I thought, you know, you pull the dipstick and it's golden brown after and that for Forty-Eight K is done done a few thousand. Is on that since that'll change.
You think gosh, it's not just has shows no signs of being worn out. Yeah, I guess that's why do you
use this taxi for so long? You know, like and they're
getting used without without all changes for for the predominant.
Yeah, big big part of their lives but you know, it's my uncle when he was a cabbie always had Falcons, he had a TA and then he had a thing went to Annie L and then he had a Ju And a ba. Yeah.
And and he's like, never let me down just.
They always they always worked and the only time I let me down when I got hit up the ask twice. Yeah.
And I think it towed but he's like a part from that.
He's like, they were, he's like, Rock Solid car is like recommend the news. There was a segment during the
week on gold 104 where they had winged in with you.
Your first car story and this guy rang in and said my parents bought a brand-new Ed Falcon in 1990.
For revenge and he said it was. My dad's, then it was my older
brothers. Then it went to me when I Was
Eighteen eighteen, then I went to my younger brother, I was 18 and he said we didn't over a million cases in that car, you know, between the dad been the kid and every day, all driven it and the youngest brothers sold it for four grand, at the end of all of that, you know, he's still got a head over a million on it. Well, it's like, is not too many
cars that you could get in and do that without major rebuild.
Yeah. This thing didn't, you know,
just around. So yeah, there you go.
Little car. Talk top tip.
You want to, you want to? Hi my love.
That's still good and refined, get a get an F G know from Ed bunting. Perfect.
I got a Shameless promotion. You know why?
Why particularly the FG. We know that a, you Falcon is
the legendary Falcon because 15 amps are you?
I think, I think it might Only if you look into what how offend good FG it really is. I mean today, I rented an IU 14
Queensland once for a week or two weeks, hoping it was helius.
This is what I like four words. You know that and that's why,
you know, the FG of huge. It's quantumly different.
Yeah. Could have been a different
manufacturer. Like I'd spent the last
literally week and a half two weeks in that.
Ranger and I jumped out of that. Now, I'm driving nothing but
Falcon the Rangers are 2018 bottle with a lot less case on it. And the Falcon is quieter
smoother. The auto shifts better?
Yeah, Steve. I'm like, wow, that's saying
something isn't. I mean, it's a very different
cars, I know. But it was sort of funny jumping
out of the newer fresher Ranger into these old things and going with Jesus so comfortable. Hmm.
And they may just to be comfortable.
They made to do to do long distance effortlessly, they got their effortless, they just an effortless car to drive.
I mean, Scotty, what you think? If your family's had your
family's had Falcons Ruiz, you had a falcon for like a week, you know, they've always been they've always been just an effortless long-distance Cruiser, hmm.
And look, it's money. Depending as I said, if they
were worth 15 grand a piece, I'd be saying are these other things I can buy for that money that I like better.
But you know, for the money that they are like sort of, you know, six grand is Shhhh each, it's a lot of car for that, you know, really is climate Cruise power, this power, everything we had beepers Bluetooth Alloys fog lights, your sports seats.
You like, you don't, you don't get much for six Grammys.
It was, it's quite a lot of cars, and I think that, you know, some of the segments we've done in the last, you know, couple of months around particular cars that, you know, would like to see you again or we would purchase, they were Australian build. I always think the Falcons.
Look good for what they offered at the price point at the Comfort level at the reliability factor of that straight six and the transmission that the couple them with.
Yeah, they are obviously some examples around and yeah like if you could find a clean one that you know people got any use it.
Yeah that's it. Just church on Sundays.
One granny owner fact, the one In Northern Queensland.
Yeah. When a long way to she was very
particular about a church, she's advertised.
I call it the high milder in the loan mile.
I've had I've had to devise the High Miler but I'm sort of hoping it doesn't sell until I can clock 450.
Yeah, we just another 1,200 cases away.
Yeah. Yeah.
I think I'd like to get it to 450 just, what's that?
Speedo click over. Well, it's like it's as I said
on the show many times before, you know, I always recommend, you know, if you wants to cheap reliable, you know, fuss-free kind of Motoring Falcons, always a pretty good bit and so yeah and it's how you going because they're equal Pi so they will Papa gas, injected ones and They made more power than the petrol ones like economy-wise a not too bad a for a big car it's average. If you look at the average
economy thing it says about 20 liters per 100 which is not good. Okay.
I've put on the instant one and as you're cruising along at 60 or 70, it's sort of on 1011, you know.
So and they're both identical, I've checked both of them and so I think if you are cruising, you know doing Highway stuff, they'd be pretty good. Pretty economical.
I mean, LPG does burn quicker. So that's why, that's why the
economy's bit more than a standard Falcon.
But you get that back with how much LPG is worth so cheap.
I feel 3/4 out for like forty dollars and it was 3/4 full and I think cheese and strong sense of later.
You're paying rather than double that.
So it's it's half what it would cost to fill a petrified.
Yeah, yeah. So that's the Falcons range has
been sort of, you know, put into storage because I've been driving the Falcons. In fact, my friend that was in
The Mirage Sheraton Mirage. Borrowing that he said, I'm
going to Mansfield next weekend. I said, I would you like to
partake in the aired Exchange program?
Perhaps so we guess you don't have to be great.
Actually. All right, fine.
So we took the Mirage, this morning to the panel shop, just just getting the rear Bar B, had a little crack in that back left, rear bar. So I'm getting another bar.
Put on it and painted. So I said, right, we'll drop
that there. You can go and into the low mile
or Falcon and take yourself to mix.
He'll do whatever you want to do and I'll one of my driving.
I'm driving my Benz, Cooper. I'm at the straight-6 I joked
with some I only drive sixes. Now you're six guy.
Real strikes, six kind of guy. Now, there's no other Engine
That smoothie that's rather than the specific, right?
They've they are very smooth. Every spoon I took the bends
down to Phillip Island and back on the weekend.
And I thought look, this is a very quiet.
Smooth car. Yes, yes.
But then yeah that's just straight six, nice.
So, yeah. So what's the plan with the
phone just selling just a, just a quick look at alkanes are both gets old. Old.
The range is getting its getting it to tub done next week.
So it had a ding in the back left of the tub that my friend, the, the owner previously put in it.
So, it's easier to support a rather than panel beat it or it's more cheaper to just put a whole nother tub on it, you know, that's the same color. So, I locate.
Did I tell you that the podcast or by not be no, you haven't, I found a tub for it. Would you believe that for did
two different solid whites around 2018?
So you find these tubs online, like Marketplace or Gumtree that did have been pulled off when they were pretty new.
So they're in great condition. But then I'm like, well what
what why does yours this? Because if the wrong white, I
got to have a whole thing painted and I do, you know, then then it's uneconomical. So I found one that had come off
a car. Got the original reg, all the
car that it came off from the owner, you know, rang Ford confirmed that it was the right Frozen white color.
So I ended up buying that tub and it's, yeah, I'm getting it swapped on next week, so that'll take care of all the little dings and Nick's in the tub and I'll be pretty much brand-new and then the range will ya go for sale down the down the track nice I'm taking it away camping this weekend.
Do having said that? So well if you got a ranger well
use it. Yeah yeah.
So it's been very very handy thus far but I got back in the page for a brief trip and I thought, yeah, I still do prefer the steering suspension. The ride of this thing.
I'm not about to ditch the page in favor of a ranger.
Yeah. Even though one's really digging
in one's probably quite cool. Well, that's fair enough, but I
was never about being, you know, being on Trend.
I don't really care. Yes, this is.
I mean, this is the guy with to excise taxes now, but anyway, yeah, that's not really, on trend is I could be waiting.
Maybe yeah, true. This electronic that's my car
updates. All there's a Honda Legend.
It's getting a bit of Love David.
There is, yes, we have our fingers in a little Legend pie.
And it's delicious, isn't it? This just like like American Pie
like warm apple pie. So the Legend Sedan is getting a
muffler of them tires and a few little bits and Bobs.
Nothing major, it's going to be nice to bring that car back to roadworthy condition and and yet be able to be able to offer it, you know, with the roadway, I've got a friend that sort of half inch To do that he's he wanted something that was a bit Club bridgeable. He uses it maybe twice a week
and he said I want saying a bit little bit cool and Club Reginald you know of anything and I was like well there is this I do I said it was a photo of it and he's like well like that and I was like, all right, settle down.
Sampling is a little pricier. So yeah but it is coming up a
trick that car. Yeah, it's coming up nicely.
We David did some interior work. Con it just, you know, putting
some trims back in courtesy, lights back and conditioning, the leather and I brought my new little shine mate, buff tool over and, you know, Clay barred all the paint buffed all the paint, so it is, it's coming back to looking as it as it look very nice. That's all the car up to our.
He's another one. When I was driving up Grand
Country, Victoria buying you, I heard on the local radio, there was a market, so I, you know, I can't resist a bit of a second hand market. So I cruised along That and
bought some model cars. I've got one for you Matthew.
Yes, surprise. Next time I see that I did have
to laugh. I found a Mercedes Pagoda in
blue, a lovely Corgi, toy and was a little bit rough around the edges. The boot was sort of half off of
it and something else is falling off.
And I was like, yeah, that's as close as you're going to get it.
I think many people died that we have.
People have those mood boards, like things uuv Envision things and they happen like you put pictures on your desk.
At work or something of like you know maybe a hot girl you want to meet or maybe a I don't know holiday you want to go on or something. So I've now got that as my
little mood Rusty, best around Pagoda, that's what I'm envisioning. I'm envisioning, your mood.
Your this mood board, got you've got, you've got the Pagoda, you've got a picture of my brother.
You've got a bunch of a whole bunch of other stuff that that's car-related, Luca, and maybe a fresh lasagna bake.
In a trial. I'm happy, you know, I'm very
easily pleased really sounds very good at it.
Well, we have to, we have to put pictures of this mood board and on the page it's also rainy or might met EJ sorry to crap on.
I'm not no one's interested in anything I could say really but we're your make yours Michael Reed.
This is our suspension friend. Hmm.
So here Reckons. He's going to be up and running
by maybe mid Feb. 10, do I said, well read we're on a little bit
of a time. Make sure jewelle, at the end of
the month, I will be driving the try, go into State over to Adelaide. Mmm, for a nice Japanese
culture. So I want to ensure that the
suspension is may be rebuilt by then what do you say?
He said possible, lady said possible, it depends on how hard it is to get bit, so I've given him the chassis number and all the details of the car. So he's just going to check up.
If, you know, our rear springs available, our shocks available are rubbers and sway, bar bushes, all that were available.
And if they are, well then that's going to can going on the 15th and whatever it needs. He can order and boom baboom and
it's out fairly quickly. So that, that would be the ideal
even if even if it was just shocks all around and springs without the other bits, I'd be kind of happier.
I mean, it'll it'll drive there as it is, you know, I'm Really?
Yeah, it's not that won't do it. It's just, it'll be a good test
for it because those roads are pretty average.
Yeah, I just think it would be a lot nicer if that was sorted by them. All right.
Shut up, Ed. So, on the show with this show,
I will, let's let's get on with the show.
So gentlemen, tonight, I thought we'd get back into some, what would you rather is? We haven't haven't done, what
would you rather tune it in a in a while and and I do like a good. What would you rather if you've
given the predicament and I'll ask you guys on any and a little chat. For what we are all this but
I've got one because the hot the mini hot hatch Market is going through the roof at the moment. There is some really hot
contenders and reason I've been speaking about this affair bit actually. Now, the latest trick thing is
the Hyundai i20. N now, it's not the I30 and it's
a little brother. The I-20 n, which is got, which
is getting rave reviews, you're getting a track warranty, really focus suspension but they have aimed at squarely at the put the car, that's kind of one, the market for quite a while and still doing well in the market. At the Fiesta ST, which is,
which is the which pretty much the same, same power, but three cylinder. And, you know, and it's a little
bit different. Also, in that category, you've
got the Suzuki Swift sport, which is a little bit cheaper, but in the same category little less power, they've only got just over 100 kilowatts, but it's a lot lighter and it's got a really really good chassis or if you want to go bit more expensive, you're going to go for a John Cooper Works me now but all topic I mean all those cars come and stop spending So Fiesta and I 20n you guys know options you can get for and really it's just accessories. Same thing with the I believe
with the Swift, you kind of get a couple of things with that but I'll half that. They are all top-spec models.
So where's your money going? Gentleman and why.
Okay. So Fiesta ST or Swift sport or
I-20 n or mini John Cooper Works.
Although GTI. Polo GTI has the option, but
apology, I only comes as a DSG know, you can get it as a man, you are either. That's I mean it kind of that's
why you put in there because it kind of defeats the purpose of a small hot hatch. You you know you need to have it
tested to me already. You need to, you need to have it
as a manual and it's got. I mean that's the only car that
I have adapted. That's got adaptive dampers out
of that lot, but the fact that it doesn't have a manual gearbox in a car like that. Yeah, you can offer it with the
biggest you but no manual really VW.
I don't know what you're doing. So that's the reason why I
didn't put it in there. Good, good point.
The other ones you can get as a menu and the and the ones you can get. Yes, we have to believe is in
order and the Cooper Works. You can get as an order.
So but the other two, you can only get as a manual, only.
Yeah. What would you rather?
Where are you going shopping, gentlemen?
The top fun because it because it's a really tough one because it's this, they're really, they're very intelligent going to keep it. Yeah.
And I guess you guys on this podcast know my experience at a particular Korean brand and me attempting to Test drive.
I and I I 30 n, which is obviously the kimchi eating older brother of the I-20 and based on that I cannot purchase a high-end. I clearly, because my Korean
speaking skills are not very good.
So I personally would given the Fiesta ST.
And manual, all of those things and there's some cool colors that car comes in. And of salsa saying that the
wait times out of some of those cars are very extensive, particularly those with coming from a Korean Heritage.
That's getting up to 9, to 12 months on the I-20, n-well, massive weight, and the price point is roughly the same.
Some I would have to go with the Fiesta ST.
Given I guess the Focus RS is an longer around and you know if you're going to get something that's a bit of a warm or hot hatch you might as well get the newest that's out there and yeah that that would be my pick. Also my pick unfortunately for
Ray's would be the home die. Mmm.
Have you gone for the I-20 N? I think that Hyundai has done
something fantastic, they really turned things around.
And aimed at a difference. A different kind of Market as
opposed to what you always thought of Home die before.
Yep. And they've done properly, it's
not just like a little gimmick, you know, they've hired the right people to do the suspension tested.
A lot of testing and what they've come up with.
To, even back with warranty is is amazing.
I'm in, I've seen a few reviews, not on I-20.
And, and it's always been very, very positive.
I 30 and before, so, I think you can't go wrong.
If you keeping and holding onto it, you can't go wrong with the warranty. Only thing that backs it up to.
Yeah. Yeah.
Is it seven years on those ribs or five?
It's five thankful. Yeah.
It's five years Tiffany's. Is it Ikea says, yeah.
Yeah. I think the I30 your I-20 and
ranked I believe it's 5 years warranty on those.
And I guess, you know, that Scott is right, like they have come a long long way and they've done some awesome things.
Things like when the I30 and was launched, I mean, Maddie knows how much of a big fan. I was, unfortunately, their
dealers based on that sub was that it was only the experience.
But, you know, like that the, I the end series, they've really pushed a lot of other brands to reconsider the hot and warm patches. So there's kudos to them for
trying to do that and create a segment that people or most brands were not considering so they've done.
A lot of good work in that segment to for car enthusiasts.
And the fact of the matter is that they're bringing like, we don't even sell the I-20 here anymore.
But this they're still bringing the hot model.
It's like, what for done with the with the focus and the fiesta they don't sell based models anymore.
They just sell the St like performance performance ones.
So it shows that they've got intent to to give, you know, pathetic performance enthusiasts something, you know because because it because we all getting let's be honest, SUVs at this point. So but but they're they're still
giving us something which is actually, you know, Mad props that's respect his job just just come in with my choice.
I'd I like the thought of the I-20.
I love the that performance blue color.
They great color. I put on there in cars, looks
great. On the I30, I wouldn't have a
grouper. They don't do much for me and I
just yeah I wouldn't have one of those.
I wouldn't I I've got still got a salt real soft spot for Swift.
I think the Swift is look, it's tried and true.
It's JDM. It's the only JDM one in the
whole, the whole lot. You can have your Japanese style
number plates on it, and it looks like they're meant to be on it. And, yeah, I mean, it's
certainly not the quickest or of all the probably the best handling of the lat. But what a proven little
package, it's going to start. Every time you turn the key for
however long you decide to have it.
And yeah, I this was such a good package.
I think I like the understand Some sort of cider too Swift I think for me. Yeah me too give me the Swift.
Oh that's probably. Okay I love a swift.
You know that in fact my friend is about to sell the Swift sport. He's going overseas to live he's
about to sell one like right now you half interested, it would.
I said to him flat out if I had a use for that car or a need for that car, would I would bite off him?
No question. This is all Isn't it?
Okay? Latest Auto, you know, turbos
saw him 12 months old, is it? Yeah, it's a fib, 21 billion.
So it's almost just having a birthday now.
Done six and a half thousand K and he kind of he's the one who had the GTI that had all those issues him, you know, while back we talked through all that Saga and he ended up buying this with Sport AS kind of a interim car, because he knew he was going overseas. Sort of the didn't due to the
virus. Know exactly.
When When he said, I just want something that works and whatever and that was kind of the most fun package you could have for that money. You know, like low 30s and yeah,
he's really enjoyed it. How much was it on the road by
the way? Let's get like, it was it was
like 35 when he, no, no, no, it's like 32 and a bit.
I think when, when he bought it, it was theirs and there was none around. Like we went to the dealer and
he said, I've got to a demo that I can't sell.
I've got a think there was a red one, maybe in a manual.
My friend didn't want menu or like whiteboard?
Oh, that's it. And I said when you getting any
more in and he's like we got no idea, you know, like it was really kind of taking it all the way you can get and he needed transport quickly and he was just like, like you can have this one next week. It's branch bank and he's just
like, yep, done, you know, so that's been, that's been great.
He's really enjoyed at night. You know, I daresay, if he was
hanging around, I don't think you'd get rid of it.
He did comment when he got out that, you know, he was coming out of a GTI. That is a more Substantial car
on the open road, in terms of the, you know, the thickness of the metal and the handling of that outlook on country roads.
But he was like you know yeah. The Swift isn't quite the
accomplished with a few roads but the round town he was very complimentary about. He said, I don't think he'd get
a better City car. It's really it's smaller than
the GTI. It's Nimble.
It's really quite a fun round Town Car.
Yeah. Yeah.
So I'm a swift guy through Swift 1.
Fiesta and won by 20 n. What about you?
Marry my man. And you know it's like a Fiesta
ST. Not because I drove the last
generation and it was like, it was so much fun.
Like I couldn't get the smile off my face, just throwing into a corner, cocking a real, a rear wheel and you know, just going around about like it ridiculous speeds.
It was and it was kind of hard to be in the new one, you know, is just that but with a bit more character so it's going to be and now it's got a three cylinder engine with that with a living from that they make. And and it it's just, it just
could be got a bit of got a bit of pizzazz and I was like, you know what that is? That is a cool guy like it
followed closely by the I-20 n because the I-20 ends the more focused of the two. I would say, you know it's a
little bit more track. Like both cars will do track
working and 08 no issues but that one's got it.
And every all look things like saying, if you wanna have fun by the fiesta, if you want to be, if you want to lay lap times, get the I-20. And but with all that time
testing and stuff, there's really not much in it.
So, you know, I yeah, I would go for the fiestar.
What are they? What are they have at the
Nurburgring to rent? Their got Swift.
Exactly true. Wow.
Yeah. Yeah, the Swift and they get The
shit beaten out of him. And you know what?
They still stay at the end of every day.
As long as they haven't been rubbed off on me, I'm KO. 190
kilometers an hour or any other would be one.
I never left this suburb. Yeah, just driven to the ring
every every day and back. But yeah, look, I've I've, I was
a lot of like, you know, just I rub it.
Hold on YouTube, and I end up looking out like, this is got to do that. You bring Claps and they've got
like a fleet of BMWs that are always breaking and yeah like that all this stuff and then they just said yeah well we just take one of the rental Swift and they have a ball with what would those in the cuz I doze don't break.
Yeah. So I chose find that hilarious
like a cheap car like that just like a billion Euro workshops that you know, then run the Serratos is alone, Kaz and staff. Really?
We talked about that. Yeah.
I fell into another Rabbit Hole of Maintenance and stand things and this this thing of the German Workshop.
They had a Rowdy s5v 84.2 and a done 140,000 miles or something
and basically they had to pull the motor just it was leaking out of oil out of everywhere had numerous issues and this is a maintained car timing chain, this Daniela and I'm just like like any other car that wouldn't that would not be a service like any Japanese car that would not Happen like what why why?
You know it's I I don't know. That's the way.
It's the way the cookie crumbles with what else, what other would you rather as if you go I was thinking just sticking on with what Ed was talking about. The Ford Falcon, if we put that,
since he's driven, it knows what it's like.
What was it? 2013.
Correct ones are 12. That's the high mile up, ones
are 13. That's the low mileage.
So let's say we've 2013. Okay so if you had the choice
would you want rather is 2013 Ford Falcon or would you go over and go for a 2013? Mercedes E-Class or did you go
for a 2013? BMW 5 series.
That's the that is the equivalent of the equivalent.
Us any others in the mix Scott? 2013, Camry Hybrid, the same
size of just throwing in some of the other brands that were around there at the time because you know it was getting to the point where a lot of people just go in Euro Euro Euro.
Now we talking as if these cars were brand-new or now good question because that would alter way me an answer.
Dorrit and maybe an answer for both.
I agree. It's were both.
Okay, now and brand-new. Yeah.
Is that interesting be interpreted, could be like brand-new, I mean, price would have had to be a consideration, huge price difference, huge price difference, and still a price difference now, but probably not as big No-No when you are not, not as big. No, no, no.
Well, I'm happy to have a habit that brand new 2013, I would probably be very tempted into the E-Class.
Now that's it at nine years on. I don't think mine would change.
I think I'd still probably be swayed by the E-class.
Hmm. All else being equal even though
I know the Falcon will outlive it.
Yeah. Ariane will outlive it.
Yeah. I think I'd probably still be
tempted by the E. Hmm.
What's waste what's ways you for the are class?
Is it just the quality? The look.
This the fit and finish of it, you know, I'm a bit of a sucker for a three-pointed star. Okay.
We come down to engine, you know, it was well liked it, you know if it was any class turbo diesel or something, I'm more interested than even though I'm a straight-6 guy, you know, it would probably come down to the exact iteration of E-class.
I mean, all those those, those cards you can get a 6 cylinders.
So, let's just put equivalent Sixers 16 but you can't get it to go. Hazel.
So the DEA, I'd be very, very swaying towards the turbo diesel, whereas you can't get that in an Oreo on or or Falcon.
Obviously Imagine if they'd done a falcon with the territory turbodiesel Enos, hmm. Well those talk about it and
they'll do planning on doing it. But it just made.
I think they run out of time. I reckon if they hadn't one more
generation they would they would have been probably would have done that because I did have a thought they could sell gazillions of them in the country Legend of Falcon that does twelve hundred K to the tank you know.
Mmm and the talk of a turbo do a big-ish turbo diesel, turbo.
The EcoDiesel. Yeah, the like the Iko Iko dates
and he loved that guy. He's like, Dude, the way he
bought it, you blame them. What is he good?
18 litres per 100 case or something 17 liters this year.
I mean it's a 2.2 ton car, you know, and it's with a big barrel
and its massive turbo, the strap to the side of it.
You're not going to, you're not buying a car like that for fuel economy. So I'm going to sit petrol, is
it? No, no, especially coming from
diesel to begin with. Yeah, correct.
He's actually, these are he's getting like eight litres per 100 out of that, you know, equivalent car.
And, you know, he's like, ah, this is great.
And he's like, what have I done? No, it's not different to what
the current generation CX-9 owners are getting.
Yeah, I'm pretty high up. Like, I think that's 13, 12 13
liters, at least. And then I also heard the other
day that BMW X7 owners. The petrol.
Equivalent are still getting quite yeah, High fuel consumption but it's large car. What do you expect?
Yeah, talk about that actually doesn't need to be there.
My goodness. If David David, let me stop you
right there on my weekend. Last I one of my friends did
turn up in a BMW X7, he still works for the company, right?
And so, we got ferried around Phillip Island in the X7.
And I have to say it was very comfortable.
This thing inside had features. That just weren't there when I
worked for bimah. So, And some that were but was a
four-seater. So had the individual recent
know it was this full seven seater, okay?
Okay. So, but the third row is like
proper. Yeah, didn't it?
Third row, the mid row is full electric like recline and slide and everything. So I had the 7 Series style
legroom, I can control the sunroof blinds and opening, and closing and all the rear sight lines from my, from my backseat door. Be the, it had stuff.
Yeah, of course, it's all the big screens and everything, it's got the bling, bling Crystal, you know, style gear, shift lever. So they blend it up to make it
like a, you know, a seven inside essentially.
But it's a big SUV that Jesus was comfortable and so quiet.
And that was just the base 3-litre diesel version of it.
How much we talking for one of those?
Well, that's why I said to him, this particular one, you know, how much is this and my Mates is about 180.
And I was like, well considering it's sort of seven series money or a bit less, but yeah. I can see why a family would buy
that over a seven, but it's certainly got all the stuff 27 has. My mate went down this Lane way
on Phillip Island or someone in, you know, thin narrow road.
And he goes, oh no, we're going to do a U-turn.
And my be, my be, my be, my maid said, UPS.
Okay, just push that button on the, on the screen.
It retraces the last 50 meters of where you've driven.
Exactly. In Reverse.
What you don't touch anything. So, it's basically if you go to
a tricky, if you go into a quick tricky car park or something, Tricky line way you can just push that and it goes.
All you want to go back to exactly the way I can.
Nah. That's not.
I was like what? That is actually kind of maybe
one I have Drive something like the Queen.
Mary. Yes, it is.
But again, typical BMW for a big car.
It will for a big SUV. It handles and drives like a
car. They're very, very easy to live
with and all the X-Files were always like that, you know?
I'm not going to be saying go by One.
But out of all the SUV's they do certainly handle well didn't have the phallic tow bar that came out of one then you know I didn't have the factory tow bar that electrically appeared from under the rear bumper, all right.
Yeah, you know you can see I don't want to buy one.
I don't really like the look of it but you can see why people we can see the attraction made into it over and above an ex-wife, give it a few years. It'll be half that price.
Well, absolutely give two years. It'll be hot.
Wow, if they go X7 that was my first touch feel of an accelerator. So Edward getting back to the
the current, the cars at hand. You're going E-class.
I'm going to a class. Yeah and it was zeros so sorry,
just backtracking was saying what car will be rather have in 2013 new and today, correct? So so from from if we were in
2013 then and if we would currently now, so, The the choices were 13. Falcon 13, Orion 13 E-class and
a 13 5 series at 13. 5 series. Would be my pick.
I used to love the 5-series. I always thought that if I ever
made that sort of money, I'd get one ideal car loved.
It was a sleeper. Until I got a chance to test
drive a Model S and then and that was that was that was that was our first date Maddie. It wasn't me.
That was the first first date and changing everything was beautiful and we had some random Block in the passenger seat as well as not trying to sell us. But now that's so I always used
to think that that, you know, the Five series would be the car and today, You know, if I was to buy 2013 car, the 5-series were still, a lot of a lot of money. Well, so a lot of car for the
money even today because they're drop in value so quickly.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind one of those.
So, yeah, that would be my pick. Mr. Prince.
Well in 2013, it's all very academic because I we're not there now and we weren't had to have a choice back then, but I'm getting the Orion. I'd go.
Nice. Orion Prodigy leather, roof top,
silky, quad-cam, 206 kilowatt Basics.
So on I think you would have saved a lot of money on your eu5. I'd still have the Orion and it
still be running smooth as silk being would 2022.
I probably look for an eClass where and hope that I'd buy that now and be prepared to put some money into it as things broke on it, but in the vain hope that it might begin to appreciate it.
Like every other Ben's wagons compact series wagon has in previous years as they've just gone, got more expensive and Out Of Reach. So, yeah, so the other ones I've
had where I've got rid of the Aryan, the are in probably be with nothing. So I probably ought to keep that
as well. I'm just a quick question on the
Oreo. What was the last year that they
were out? They didn't know until the end
of 2016. Finish them like a couple months
before Camry. Okay, so yeah, I know the camera
was on Daddy's really literally went.
They were like 2020. Yeah.
That was done the series 12 though, two thousand.
Six seven, eight, I think. Yeah, they were weapon of a car.
I really like those twisty you across four lanes of traffic, but but awesome. But even even like that, that
engine was like silky smooth, smooth.
Like that the way, That car delivered power.
And just yeah, it's just amazing at what Toyota was able to package in under, what was it 40 grand for that time.
Yeah. If so much space.
Good quality interior. Not saying it was too flashy but
it was just that. Yeah, the the comfort in that
like, you, I literally thought it was Alexis.
Hmm. So basically could have been,
you know, but the advantage was that was already built, that's about 20, it took about packages around the Orion.
I mean, that engine, of course, appears you can now pick up as a gray Import in a Corolla in the Corolla blade.
So, 3.5 liter V6 in a Corolla would be a bit of fun Scotty
likes those. I've heard they're real fun.
I'd love to drive one. So what I so would I don't mean
that. Mystery shoppers that engine
also find someone that you know I'm interested in buying it just so I could test drive it. Yeah, yeah, probably but you
thirsty. I want to go for a sport.
Yeah, that's fine too much talk still have they have any been imported into Australia? Are you the question filling out
a lot of JD lot of import places are bringing them in.
Iron Chef and knee pain to you all those sort of places of got them listed as cars and really not bad for what it is.
Yeah. As we used to be bit cheaper
now, they're a bit popular and I think New Zealand bought most of them. Yeah, yeah.
Now people know that they can just, you know, they're white where de never bought it out as a limited edition here.
I mean, you just wouldn't be enough to compete against it up your ex, or something like that. Was Chris experience?
Just as quick as this is a base WRX.
Really like, it is like a 6 second car 100, like they are there. Quick are those years?
Yeah, now they were going. We also, we also tend to forget,
there's the cat's got and I don't walk on the left and say hello that in that V6. Like I mean, Toyota always did a
really silky smooth. Be significant Basics is one of
the smoothies engines are like, I've driven and every iteration of it's always been just beautiful.
I rev nicely and they sound good.
Would they put that engine in the Lotus evora?
So people don't realize it is all legit Performance Engine.
So you can you can do well with them.
It's been put in a lot of cards Lexus and used it.
Yeah. Scotty what are you?
What are you thinking? Am I taking?
Good question. I'm a bit of a sucker as well
for a Mercedes so I'd probably lean towards an eClass come.
Join me Scott D. Yeah, come a bit of a sucker
line. I think that Yep.
You're right Rosie. He would have that Xin and that
that say that sense back straight out of Mercedes, definitely do this, isn't it? And I'm just wondering.
What is Rick, Ross? Say here is what we know what he
says, you broke till you got one.
Look, you know, E-class we eat fast.
That's that's, that's what nobody says.
And you broke to, you got one? Because you may be performing a
lot of Maintenance and parts. But at least you have that, you
know, that Inspect lay low on top of livestock.
Sure. That's what I'd buy brand new
Scotty. What would you delete this from
warrant in 2022? What would you get?
Yeah, I would probably go with the Ford, I think.
Okay. We still rear-wheel drive.
Scott. I would do you a great.
Will you good price? Yeah.
What about it? Nice.
Little Ford's. Really nice.
Little mates rates for daily. I could see you in one of these.
Really popular talk right now. Yes, tickets.
Good about to go and it's going to cost you thousands and you'll need something to slip into. That's nice and comfy.
And let me tell you, the aircon is brilliant.
In both cars. It was Edward buntings buntings
Ford's. Earring wheel, audio controls
Your phone calls doesn't matter. That's why I can fuck ins.
It was me. I would probably do the EU as
well. Yes.
Another E-class wallet, 33 for the E, but it's secondhand because we're not talking about performance.
We just talked about basic cylinder ones.
I would probably go to the Orion if I want a.
Hmm, I think sick. And ER I mean as its touching
your with that in the Falcon because both of them would be we'll just keep going until the end of time but I would probably go the Orion just because I just want to have that, you know, like I mean both because of silky smooth but I just think it would just be, you know, and not a nice color in terms of base for bass or two like a basic Ste Falcon to a lease sale a base already on there, just a little bit nicer.
So I know we've talked about working on it.
No Maddie. True to do the rear plugs.
It's the plenum offs. That's her.
This is, this is very true. However, I would, I would just,
but if it was like it's getting, it's like an extra six, Speck over to the standard or and I would go in the six next one for you gentlemen. But really Ross, you've got to
go, I was going to ask you, is you Ross?
I saw on what we've been talking about this before you go online.
The test has released their pricing but apparently there was messy drivers. Yeah, we're just we briefly
touched on it as well with the crew earlier on and seems to be a bit of an issue like Ed. And I were sort of on the same
page when we saw the 15,000 instead of the 12,000.
That was originally reported as part of Nevis and registration.
And then yesterday, an article came out that Tesla themselves are provided 15,000 and then later on this morning, They've come back and said the electric vehicle Council that supposedly sourced from Tesla has come out and said I was a human error and we mistakenly added 2020 figures, as well as 2021 figures. But logically speaking what, you
know, Ed was saying as well, that when I had 15,000, we didn't dispute it because it depends on what you call a sale.
Because let's say they're sold. In the whole 2021 they sold
15,000 but they only deliver 12,000, then sales are still 15,000. It's just they're going to be
delivered in quarter one 2022. But as it turns out the people
that put the numbers out there are now saying now it's actually is 12,000. It is the vehicles that are
registered and delivered. So that's where it is.
Bit of controversy in commie Dia media.
Comedy accompanying, a sort of you having a go at comedy.
Company B, when we all know they all suck.
So yeah. Bit of a storm in a teacup I
think. Yeah, our is Heroes will let you
go me. Please.
Come on the show. We'll talk to you next week.
No ice. Thanks guys.
Have a good one. I really shitty ring.
Yeah, any more would you rather source is knees.
There's one more from me unless anybody else has less anybody else. So, again, I like, where you're
going with this study about, you know, the then and then.
Now, what would you take? I think that actually kind of,
makes it makes it a bit of fun. You have to have performance of
Downing and, you know, you of the Bavarian spec.
But you, yeah, yeah, but you've also got a hankering for Japanese cars so, and we've kind of done this at the we've done this. Long time ago, but not in terms
of this, this new, this new way of doing it.
So, that's why I thought I'd the third car in but w204 C63 AMG which we all kind of appreciate, I think it makes a great noise.
Do a very dirty noise. It's a very, very, very naughty
car. That then on the other side of
Germany, you've got the BMW E90 M3.
Now obviously these are what these all four doors the for diversions. And then you've got feeling a
bit left field, you got the Lexus IS F.
So all five, all also all V8 only ones available as a manual.
What would you have brand-new and what would you have now?
Alright brand-new, I'd go, the bends and now I would put the bins. Okay, okay sorry that's cool.
Why would you go to Ben's today? I'd still cracking car like a
2004 series and that that V8 and the noise.
And you know there are there are pretty brawny car to drive, the M3 will out handle it but I'm not taking it on tracks and stuff. I just think the bends is a bit
more me the Lexus. Yeah it's good but it's soulless
I don't you know, I know it's a good car but I'll probably get more enjoyment out of the pins, I think.
Mmm for success. That's a real tough one, and her
cross off the BMW straight away, after your experience.
Well, yeah, yep. I don't deal with them anymore.
Brand. New C63, for sure, hands down.
That's easy. Choice in hand now.
I really do like the is f, if I'm thinking about maybe wanting to keep it and just really daily, it, give it a hard time and I know it will be fine. I'll be like, is f hands down.
I've seen those things crack. A huge amount of case and is
still so solid and Perfect running Motors.
Hmm, there is a guy in on YouTube, he tracks.
His is f. It's got over 200,000 miles and
he beat the crap out of it every weekend on a racetrack and it's solid. It's like never had an issue.
So I was like, that's that's respective Act.
Mmm. And then you got the 60 63 that
sound. What about David?
And I don't think and I don't think that too bad either.
So no, they're not, once they had the like dearly wanted, a head study shoot, once they've sorted that out there.
They're pretty solid just to be different.
I'm going to go the ICF. Okay.
No, I would say just to be sensible.
Is it for me? For both new and yeah, yeah, I
think so. I like the ice anyone.
Sorry, I was just gonna say, the new ones look, more and more like, turned out like Transformers.
So gotta say, but the original is, if was that was creamy and likes, I reckon everything about it was great to get that crazy tail pipe design to. Yeah.
But just with that again, that I hop on a bit about it, probably because of my Edge. Just that bulletproof
reliability. You just know it's going to just
you know, and like I think C63 and and the BM I'm just trying to choose my words. Carefully.
I think there is new money for me.
They're a bit. Is just, you know, people each
year too blingy to Map app that, you know.
Yeah. No.
No, I'll go. Go to you.
The licks of things very much. Okay, so we've got Edward to
both Benson wins bends like this Lexus Lexus.
So it's interesting because I really liked all three of these cars. I didn't think I'd like the not
92 and 94 series of of, you know, you know, M3 until I drove on. And then I was like, okay, this
is awesome. It was actually a real fun car
to drive made a good noise. Revved really hard, went hard
and I because I was always Cece. Three guy through and through
about like out of those deals at sixty three all day every day because I think I drive a manual.
One not an SMG. I was like, yeah, this is this
is Cracker. If I was doing trackwork
