"So it'll tell you the location within the wrecker where it is. So there's there's a 90 E here. It's not with the benders. Oh, you gotta follow. You follow your nose, Yeah."
"there, Callum Scotty. Um, I picked the same when it comes to that, but if we're looking at my own money or something like that, I actually prefer to go with the I-20 N. OK. Something about the smaller size"

This is professional radio. Has front wheel drive.
But have you got anyone you want to think?
Just myself. And now we'll do the after
hours. Gentlemen, what would you do
for? Thanksgiving there.
OK. And because it's not a Super
Cup, it is. It's not ordinary.
Perfection comes in the form of two letters.
A&U Long live My Ltd Welcome to Car Talk.
It's Tuesday night here on 94.9 Northwest FM.
It's me, Mary J Join online with Mr Alan Deep Singh from the lovely studio, Mr Edward Bunting, Mr. David Prince and Mr
Scudder Johnson who are all online.
How are you fellas? Good evening all.
Very well. Thank you.
Happy to be here. Howdy, howdy everybody.
Howdy, howdy to you 28. Good to see all.
Good to see you all. Scotty, you recovering from a
cold? Mate, Yeah, so when it comes to
car updates, I don't have anything.
I've got Friday, feeling unwell at work and that and then Saturday, Sunday pretty much didn't do anything.
And yeah, back at work, so. Meditations.
He didn't look around Longs. I'm kind of getting over it now,
which is good. But the grimy little kids, mate.
The grimy little kids. Oh my goodness, they're all got
snotty noses. They are all sick, they're all
sick. But I've got to say good to see
you're on the mend. It's long weekend this weekend
Scotty, so you can recover and do some car related shenanigans then. You take Monday off will do.
We're also joined by Chad. How you doing Chad?
Hi guys. Can you hear me?
Can hear you loud and clear. Hey, how are you?
Sorry I'm late. No, don't be sorry at all, mate.
Don't be sorry at all. We're just, we've just started.
Mr. David Prince, how you? Doing well, I'm pretty well,
thank you. Yes, skillfully fighting off all
the bugs that come my way so far that you fight you.
Fighting him. Off about 7:10 so.
We'll see how we go. I'm.
Happy to share, David, I'm happy to share.
Thanks mate. Thanks.
Maybe another time. Maybe another time.
They do say sharing is caring, but when it comes to that I think David will be just. His hands are the Glen, 20
bottles in each hand. Right.
Just just just spraying, spraying everything.
Edward Bunting How you doing mate?
Hello. Good.
Yeah, I'm. I'm a bit like Scotty.
I made a bit of a sniffle, bit of the sore throat, but you know, unlike Scotty, I've still done some car stuff, so, you know, yeah, you gotta prioritise.
I think that's some shade being thrown in there.
Well. I think I feel like he's telling
me that I'm weak. Get a bit of that bit of that.
I feel, I feel like and you, you should.
I don't know how much time you spent around little children but it it they always, always getting you sick.
So I feel Scott has got it pretty hard personally.
I don't spend that much time around small children, no.
The the only the only small kids I spend time around and my two cousins and at one point they had me sick for five months straight. Once.
I had we deemed it the lung rot. Wow, I I spotted around to a
couple of friends too, but for five months straight, like I multiple rounds of antibiotics and.
That's unbelievable. It was I remember that that was
cooked. You were just like you were dead
for like 5 months of the world. You shouldn't.
Have months? Crazy.
Fever or something like you should.
I don't know but. I'll be getting that.
That's no good. No, but you know, it worked out.
I survived. Winter is is sort of a health
check in well. It's.
A bit of both. Personal health care, Health.
You know, we usually do once a year like a Doctor related episode where Doctor Bunting comes in and Doctor.
Yeah, did diagnose that blood clot on that woman tonight.
You did? Yeah.
You, you see, you save their life, you know, going back a few years. Alan, how are you going, man?
Anyway, you, you're doing well. I think he's he can't quite hear
us. Chad, how you doing man?
I'm good. Yeah, again, like everybody else
probably coming off the back of being sick for like 3 weeks straight, managed to squeeze a little bit of car stuff in.
Yeah, yeah, just, you know, got angry about not being able to do things, but. We'll cover that one.
We'll cover that in car updates. Definitely.
We'll kind of skinny was happening with you and Alan.
How are you mate? No, you're fighting fit.
I think you probably the first of all because I've obviously had a cold and and you know, everyone else is on the on the mend. Ohio, it's questionable because
I I saw from the good old asthma and unfortunately with that cold weather gets here. So I have been wheezing a bit
more lately. I've been taking my preventer,
my little puffer morning and night, but I'm doing alright car day wise. Not much to say.
They're still going, yeah. I won't.
Again, again. And you still haven't come by to
check out the MX5, you know. So I haven't been invited yet,
so. You're always welcome, Ed.
You tell me when I'm coming round.
You come when you feel like it mate.
Busier man than I, so. Maybe on the weekend.
Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Actually, Friday night, I think
I'm free. You could put on some sort of,
you know, little spread from the homeland and, you know, I could look at the. Car.
That that could be good for. It'll be, it'll be.
What's your favourite famous ones of them?
Like goat Curry? You're gonna go.
We do make a good goat Curry at home.
Yeah, I'll be. I'll be down with that.
But we don't make it white man's spicy.
We make it, you know, Indian spicy.
So I'll be a little worried about how well you do with it.
Let's try me on that. Let's try.
Well, let's get into some kind of this.
Alan and Scotty have both said not much on their end, so Edward Bunting updates with you. You said you've had plenty to do
despite. Your your.
Your your ailments. Some stuff.
Despite the ailments, I brought the Scamp back to town a week or so ago and what might have even been last weekend I brought it back to anyway, whenever it was, it was due for a good scrub, but had been sitting down at my parents place.
You know, it was a bit dusty and so I charged the battery a bit, giving it a vacuum, giving a wash down the window.
So I was looking, you know, it comes up very well that car, it's inherently it's in, in nice condition.
I did replace the spark plugs on it, thinking just as a initial foray into why it hates running when it's cold.
You know, hates idling, does not like cold anything, and that it's not just engine cold, it's weather.
You know, in the hot weather it's a lot happier than in the cold weather, which David, you would have noticed probably when you had it. No, you probably wouldn't.
You only drive at 10K in seven years so thank you.
Much little house that's what they they they usually run pretty well in cold weather actually, because the code coming into the. Yeah, well, that one, it
certainly does when it's muttering along.
But it does not like idling, OK. And it doesn't like like if you,
you know, start it with the choke and and if the chokes out, it's OK, it's happy. But the sort of sucks itself in
gradually as you, as you come up to a set of life, it'll it'll, it'll die at every set of lights until it's really quite warm.
Never did that while I had it done to it.
There's something so I replaced the plugs just as a first.
Port of call like alright. Well, let's just eliminate that,
and that matters. Right, easy thing to fix.
String and only two of them quite.
Cheap IBADS. Yeah, BDS, I think it is, yeah.
So $14.00 worth of plugs, no difference whatsoever with new
plugs, which leads me to think it's nothing plug related.
So I I do think it's a fuel thing.
If it's copyrighted, it's probably never had a copy.
Rebuild related now, interestingly enough on the in the receipt in the glove box of that car is that you know, all the work you had done on it, David, when you got it in 2017, which included, you know, car be pulled apart.
Carby cleaned all of that. So but that is still seven years
ago and it's done very little since.
So maybe there's something in there that is blocked up like a jet or a whatever or so I'm keen for our friend in the club to have a look at it at least have a look at the car be and just see that. Does it look like it's meant to
according to all the ones he's pulled apart?
And I think that's that's the next step.
I'm just waiting on when he's available and I'll run it out to him to have a butchers hook at that running fine.
What else have I done? Accords got a roadworthy that's
getting done this Thursday, as in I just had to buy some tyre 2 tyres for it and then they'll sign it off.
So that's going in Thursday from that and then I saw Advertise a chord. You shall advertise.
Advertise it accordingly. Accordingly.
Yeah, exactly. Haven't haven't bought anything
else or sold anything else because I don't have anything else to sell anything. Paid a couple of club regios,
Scamp Club Ridge paid Mercedes 190D club ride paid.
You know, you, you do them for another year.
You think, Oh, well, maybe you'll hang around for another year and then another lease on life.
It's like, it's like. Anyway.
It's like filling up a car with fuel.
You think, Oh well, at least I've got it for another 405 hundred K whatever the tank gets you.
I always quite like filling up the car.
I think we're in another another lease of life.
I think you only have that problem Ed.
Yeah. Because you you change through
them. You're like paid another 50
bucks a fuel. I'm gonna keep it for another.
More often they are running on the same fuel from a long time ago with my cars, so yeah, it's always nice.
To no, it's running rough. I don't know why.
It must be David, folks. 11 David David David did like 500
miles in seven years in that car.
It might not might have even been less than that because it's I've looked at on the receipt that calls now done 24 1/2 thousand miles to I've done I think 2000 miles in it, which is what's that 3 1/2 thousand K or something.
Yeah, something 200. Three and a.
Half years you've had about. Three.
No, not that long. Two years, I reckon.
OK. I think two, Yeah.
So it has you. Have you've had a longer than
that? Because I've had my SCAMP almost
two years. No, you have not had that.
Almost. Too I have.
No, you have not. I have.
We picked it up a couple of weekends ago at Malcolm's house.
That is not too you can. I'd guarantee you we did not.
Choose I have paid 2 lots of club permit.
Thank you very much. It's minimum.
Too. I mean, it was due right after
you. Thought else but.
It was due, Yeah, it was due right after you got it.
I. Mean I've moved I've been moved
into my new house for about a year and a half of this my little over and Oracle. While I was still in my old
house, it was broken down somewhere on Somerton Rd with.
Magic. Yeah, that's right.
So he's out for all you know. OK, I like driving a scam for
2000 kilometres is probably driving a normal car for 10,000 equivalent effort. It's been enjoyable.
I enjoy driving that car. You brought the scamp when you
came to look at the Falcon, didn't you?
Yeah, I did. I drove it out to.
I drove it out to your place. Yeah, that's true.
And couple of those because you can't give that up cars to to that and that. But that was in hot weather.
So he was running very nicely in the hot weather.
I like cold anyway. I'm keen to, yeah, I'm keen to
find out what, what our cabbie man thinks of that.
Because they're not complex, you know It's gotta be.
It's the it's all moving parts that's.
Yeah, exactly, exactly. I'm keen to keen to delve into
that. Other than that, no, no, no car
updates, nothing else. Very good, David Prince.
Not not many like the others, but more than some their club gearbox down on Saturday and I gave the quarter nice run with the new tyres. It's got on it now.
Gee, fresh tyres can transform a car.
I think the one four years old and just rides that much better and smooth and front end alignment tracks beautifully.
Nice car very heavy with that. I took a deposit on the Scorpion
that I mentioned last week. So that looks like it's sold and
the guys very happy with it. So we just need to remove that
from our from my garage, hopefully within the next by the end of the week, if not early next week because one of the cars is outside and I'm not happy about that.
So it was the one with the least the least good paint.
So. It's.
Probably probably based in the middle of winter to play that one outside. What else?
I don't think anything else is. I've had some really tricky
customers this last week. I tell you, I've had some
absolute rebuild jobs handed to me, foisted to me, plus broken plastics and the things falling apart.
And anyway, we will, we will, we will soldier on and we'll get them. Did Maddie's roof racks for the
for the SR2 are nearly done? So nearly.
Done. Thank you mate.
I was, I was hiding off the camera like.
I was wondering, David, if you're gonna break the, you know, customer and customer confidentiality, but Mattie was already given it away, but. Yeah, he's a patient at this
stage. Yeah, as long as you don't get
impatient, boom, boom. Because yeah, there's a bit
going on, but yeah, no. So I, I really like those, those
jobs taking something that's pretty well, you know, chuckle wired, really. But no, no, no, check why.
They weren't that bad. But yeah, you've really got to
build bits up and reinforce them.
And my goodness, you'll just have to be so careful putting them back on, that's all. Like, yeah, well, I think I'll
be putting them back on in your company, David Prince. 25 year
old 25 year old 30. Yeah, it's almost 25 years old.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. 25 year old plastic.
And the problem is when you put a piece of metal on a bit of plastic that's 25 years old, the thing that's always going to give away first is the bit of plastic.
Plastic. Yeah, anyway, also did a bit of
a Wreckers run for Maddie, but to no avail.
But what can you do? Until you actually see the car
on the ground, you can't really tell whether or not it's called the bits you need. And this one, it had the eyes
picked out of it. Sadly so.
Which car was that, David? There's a laser out at UM Depart
Kilsyth, which is a bit of a drive for many, so I literally drove past it the other day. So I said I'll call past to have
a look. Have a have a quick squeeze.
The shame was there was a SP20 mass of exactly the same shape and the same shape, um, you know, holes in the, in the regards for the, for the tail lights.
But I rang Maddie and he said no, I didn't say.
Are they different? Lights.
They're different lights and they're, they're actually a bit wider on the where the boot side is because the boots and the lasers curve in, whereas they curve out on the Mazda.
Yeah, they are. Completely.
Different they bother changing that would yeah.
Yeah, it's a full, it's a full front and rear end difference.
So yeah, they are. Because one of the guys we spoke
and I spoke to on our podcast was involved in the design of changing the the Mazda and the Telstar.
Sorry, the Mazda and the the medicines into the Fords during the 80s and and you can understand that when you've got that that ability, but these were coming out of the same factory off the same line, weren't they?
That's nuts. Direct.
Well, that's Cray Cray. They are, they are.
They are virtually identical cars like in every other way, but the interior trims all different.
Like it's mechanically very much the same, but body and interior trim where we're different. So same dashboard and stuff,
just just just different, you know, different touch points and different things and different colours and stuff.
So. So they did.
They did try to differentiate somewhat.
It continues. What does it?
Become or does it? Oh.
OK. We'll, we'll, we'll get to that
very shortly. Chad updates with you.
I'm like so going cast stemmy camping, I'm going to use camping in quotation Marks and then driving to a friend's paddock and paddock bashing purposes but also staying the night there as well. So I'm taking the Trago up and I
thought I'll try and get some gardens up or some sort of like window blocking solution and had some like leftover like that weird foil and bubble wrap insulation.
I don't know if you guys haven't used them before.
I thought I'd try and use some of that because I've seen a couple of guys on YouTube do it and they're sort of like cut it into shape, type it and you know, put some like window suction cups and stuff on it. Anyway, I started doing it and I
just just like locked my patience so quickly.
It was really flimsy and I'm trying to get it to stay there so I can like trim it and all that.
There was just like about 1/4 of the way throughout just like stuff this. I'm just going to go on Amazon,
want to get some generic curtains that I can try and like and get it to work, you know, 80% of the way instead of having the full blocked out. And then I also bought myself an
eye mask because that's probably going to be the most useful part of. Your eyes rather than the entire
van. Yeah, there's not much window in
that bloody cup. Just just close these up and I'm
good. Are you planning on doing this
camping trip Chad in the like near future or during the summer? Yeah, it's this weekend.
It's the thing you speak cause it gets stuck pretty quickly.
I think even if you let a little bit of it would be the worst in the world. It's more the waking up at 6:00
AM or whatever, but the sunlight is the you know, anyway, so I figured that. Out.
I'd be more concerned with some weird, you know, country person just staring in, you know? I tell my friends Paddock.
So it's it's pretty private. I don't really need like
privacy. It'll be a kangaroo.
Does he have any animals? I was gonna say this is the
animal kangaroo staring in. Like she's.
Come outside. This is going to couple of
chickens. I don't know if they're gonna be
that in interested in what I'm doing in the in the Terrago.
Their alums interested in the goat right now so.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
It's making. Me.
I'll put in a word mate. I'll cook up the whole.
Thing. I've bought a whole group
before. I'll do.
It again. Hi, Chad.
On that, on just on that note, those snapping shades, you know you can get them for like babies in the back.
They like snapping and they fit the exact shape of your window, and they have little tabs sort of on the.
Corner. And they, you know, you Sam and
they, you can sort of fold them up and then they just spring into place sort of thing. You can get those custom done
for cars and, and wouldn't be megabucks.
So you know, once the tabs are in place, you can sort of snap them in and snap them out. And that's I've never done it
yet for my Terrago, but I thought exact same thing.
If ever I sleep in the back of that for any length of time, I would, I would just snap in shade the, the, the all the main windows and then the windscreen. You just put a one of those
windscreen other things on. And that was my, that was my
initial thought. And I looked into it and the
lead time to get it for when I need it by is it's.
Not no. Visible and also there are a
couple 100 bucks I think for a full set and I thought.
A couple 100. Yeah, it was like between 2 and
300 I think for a set for. Use some time and time again.
It's not, it's. Not there a good investment, I
agree. I think I will do that when I'm
not in such a rush. Again.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And yeah, no, there is that
company called Snapshots. I think they always advertised
on Instagram. So, but that was the first thing
that came to my head and. Good, I I quite like.
Yeah, I think it's a good idea. It's a good solution at life,
better than the DIY crap that I tried.
Yeah. So what else should I do?
Tarago is probably yeah, that's good to go.
And took the Sylvia for a drive on Saturday morning to King Lake and then had some breakfast with a friend and drive it back to.
There was a car meet in Heidelberg that I drove past.
There was a Toyota something turn car club out of.
Coffee and Donuts or something. And coffee.
And Donuts. Yeah, I only stopped in for 5
minutes, but yeah, a Bentley with W12 for some reason.
But you know, any car is welcome and it was cool to see one, I guess. And yeah, there's a bunch of
cool cars and there's like a first Gen Celica GT4 and a couple of old slackers. And yeah, it was.
It was cool. With the Donuts.
Got. Did not have any.
Couldn't tell you that. That was a coffee van there that
was doing free coffee for everybody, which was cool and it's good coffee out of that one.
That was it. That's that's kind of my weekend
with cars. And yeah, I'm still working on
the 190, just getting all the paint while the panels, you know, standard and then primed. So still working at it.
That's a longer process than I ever thought it would.
Be, but yeah, it's. It's one of those long term
projects now. Yeah, that's awesome.
Yeah. That's it, Updates with me
gentlemen. So I'll start with yesterday.
I took the Fiesta for its its second year service and as I was uh, like you guys have seen my cars.
I try to keep them quite clean as I was very, very close to getting there. This massive bird.
I'm going to say it was like an eagle, but it wasn't.
But anyway, um took the biggest crap on the car.
I've never seen it. It, it, it, it covered the whole
side of the car. I thought.
I thought I'd like to. Listen, I'm much loss.
Albatross or or Bliana. What I'm looking at is, yeah, he
was. He was massive and it was green
too. Like I'm like probably trying to
probably tried to match the car and so, so on my quite literally like 5K from the dealership and I'm like, I'm, I'm like, I do not want them to wash my car because they're butchers.
So what I'm gonna do is I I was driving around trying to find a.
Sister, you just need the blaster.
One Oh, yeah, I know. I was joking around when I found
one and I'm just, I'm just sitting there.
Bloody birds. Well, yeah, just just just just
holding the stuff off and they're like, they're like, because I think you had I put a dollar in just to just, you know, watch the car. I get there like, oh, did you
only clean happy car? Like, well, no, I had this
massive bird take the biggest Sierra crap on the car.
So I was wasn't impressed. Anyway, I dropped it off and I
picked it up to today and and it was funny the as soon as I got there, like, oh, just, you know, love the colour and they're like it's you know, it's pretty cool that you know that this.
Is this is that and? I said, I want, I want to make
sure that the, the Riddle is used and they, they, they ensured me that it would be. And so, yeah, it was, it was all
good. That was, that was, that was a
pleasant experience. I drove a brand new Escape as a
rental car, which was pretty bland, I'm not gonna lie.
It wasn't it wasn't it wasn't a wasn't it was nice to drive, but it wasn't a it didn't set your pants off.
I performance wise was quite quick.
It had a got the Focus ST two leading two litre engine in it, so it did go well. But yeah, not wouldn't put on my
recommendation list. How much did they charge you for
this service, Maddie? Including, so I asked for them
to put the wheels front to back and they said yeah, we'll align them. We'll, we'll do that in an
alignment and a we'll balance and everything for you.
And they gave me a print out of everything came to 3:30, which is not too bad. Yeah.
So I, so I said, I said for, you know, the wheel balance, the wheel alignment and the rotation including the as well.
Like that's not too bad it because it actually takes 6 litres of oil. It takes all it takes.
What a big sum for a little bit. It's a massive sum, like 6.2
litres. And I was like, whoa, that's
like, that's almost. As much so big for a three
cylinder. Yeah, well I asked that same
question and they're like, because it's quite baffled.
Apparently the sump because it's meant to go around corners quite quick so you don't get all starvation and stuff.
So I'm like, well, I guess that kind of makes sense, but it's for 1.5 litre car. It takes it takes virtually the
same amount of oil, I think. I think it takes more oil than
the the typhoon does, which is which is just blew me away.
I was like, that's, that's, that's insanity.
That, that is a lot like normally a, you know, Pajero, a Prado, a a typical cruise or whatever.
They're 7-8 litre. Yeah, they're big, but a three
cylinder 1.5? Yeah, 1.5.
That's wild. That's a lot.
Yeah. I, I was like, I was like, I
couldn't believe it when I, when I, when I, when I, when I saw that, I'll show you. I'm looking at how much oil type
index it takes more than the Typhoon.
I will laugh. So the type intake 7 litres.
That's right. But this took like 6.2 or
something, which I was just like, my goodness, that's that's a lot. But makes sense.
So it is what it is. They said the car is perfectly
fine as it should be updated. The maps, which I'll never use
because I use I use my phone in the sent me on my way and then I so yeah, so that was that was the first bit of my updated.
The second bit of my update was laser.
Now I send you guys a video in the chat.
The roof is painted. The car is repaired.
I should be getting it back by the end of the week.
I won't say they're going off the whole car for me and then make it. Renew Laser.
Make it look, look somewhat respectable and do that.
They, I did tell them about the, the, the roof rails to take them off there a bit of, a bit of a pain to do.
So they did say they were gonna try.
And to be fair, they really tried hard, but they did break a couple of them and they were, they called me.
They were really apologetic. They were like, you know, we
were so sorry. We know you love this car.
I'm like, that's alright. I'm like, I knew, I knew as soon
as you touch it, they were gonna just kind of crumble.
Like we typed them up to try and make your strength.
And then when we did all sorts of stuff, we'll try to be super careful. But they just, they just let go.
And I'm like, yeah, that's understandable.
I, I get it. But that doesn't bother me
because the roof racks which David Prince has repaired will be going on so so that'll be that'll be a cool thing to see.
NSR 2 with with with. It's an original roof rails.
So what? What happens to your original
longitudinal whales, though, that they've broken?
What do you do about that? So it's just the caps, the caps
that come off? Yeah, they've cracked those.
The actual rails are fine. Alright, OK.
Yeah, so. The crossbars on the David Scott
it'll it'll. Yeah, correct.
A lot of hopefully. Hopefully date that stuff.
I've looked online and I did that before I did that ages ago and I looked quite recently too and they and they just know nobody's done it. It's.
Really. Really, really kind of sucks so.
Looks like you gotta be the pioneer of that Maddie.
And then start selling with the Car Talk store.
Yeah, and then it would be the only one to be buying them.
Calling again, I'll be lining up for those.
About six people, but you know, it's it's.
It's you have to put in a lot of effort to programme and to do it, wouldn't it? Well, if, if I with my original
ones, I can, we got the scan thing that we can just scan it and it produces it on a on a thing.
So I could make it happen definitely, which would be good.
But yeah, we'll have to love to see how that works.
But I just wanted to thank also David Prince for for seeing me on the Saturday and getting my getting my racks and has now is is there repairing them. So I do I do appreciate that.
Hopefully that wasn't too much of A, let's just say the proverbial pain in the ass as I as I thought it was and.
That's like a jigsaw puzzle, putting all those little broken bits back together and finding out where they go, and that's great fun. Repaired the caps the the
broken. No, so he, he repaired the, the
rails cause like the so the, the, the roof racks, the crossbars that that they got, they got plastic on them.
Yeah. So hopefully having the the
example once helped David, I don't know.
So you could. See what they did?
It did very, very much so. So yeah, so we can we can start
putting that back together. But the second part of my update
for that car is so on Sunday, Thomas is a friend of the show Japan, Japan trip person as well.
He's interested in buying a a Fiesta St.
He's talking about fest's since Japan.
I think he's like, oh, you know, I'd really like one, but he wants a basket case one because Thomas has and he probably listen to this and be like, yeah, that's that's correct.
But he's like, I always wanted to drive on a good Rd So I took him to my favourite stretch of Rd in the, in the Yarra Valley and, and he had to go and he fell in love with the car and he's like, yeah, I'm definitely wanna buy one now, by the way.
But on the way back he's like, well, we are heading back.
You wanna stop by Inlaks? And I'm like, well, you have to
twist my arm. But yes, that's, that's, that's,
that's a fine thing. There's Emacs is a record in
Clayton and when we get there and having a look and he's looking through his usual beam W's and stuff.
And then he was there on Sunday as well.
At some point I will at. Some point, yeah.
So we go to the forward section and there's there's a few layers, not there's not as many as they used to be.
And I'm and I'm looking at like gone, gone, gone.
And there was a there, we found one and we found one with a title with a perfectly really nice tail light.
I was like, yes the the the car gods have shown upon me.
And this is this, this is an SR2 or just a laser of that shape?
A laser that shape, but a hatch and then the the the lights are the same. So yeah, yeah, yeah.
So the issue is that the car was half submerged in because it's like a swamp there really. So so I'm like, you know, trying
to swim and not not die and drown and pull this thing out.
Anyway, I didn't have any tools. I had to borrow some tools and
got got the light and I was like, yes, this is yeah, this is a great day. As I'm walking through, I
realised I didn't see this one little laser tucked on the side and it wasn't in a swamp or anything.
And I had a light. Oh my God, that would make my
life so much easier. So I ruined my shoes.
I ruined, ruined the matter that in the Fiesta.
Oh my God, man, I did all that because of because I didn't look, you know, hard enough. So.
Hard because they yes, they have areas where certain cars are, but there's even if they get full, they'll just shove it wherever else. Correct.
Yeah, I've. I've been there before and gone
ohhh. Why is there a Honda CRV with
the Peugeots and you know, like it's and you can actually go on the website and GPS track where the car is.
So it'll tell you the location within the wrecker where it is.
So there's there's a 90 E here. It's not with the benders.
Oh, you gotta follow. You follow your nose, Yeah.
There's. Also on their website, it will
tell you what's in stock. And you think I just went to the
Merc section that's not there? Yeah, but it's there somewhere.
It's there somewhere? It's hiding in plain sight.
And then, yeah, well, yeah, hiding in plain air, as I would say. And I was just, yeah, I was
like, for God sakes, I did all that work, survived the swamp to find out that there was one perfectly fine just sitting there. And I was quite annoyed.
But anyway, so took the light, took that light as well, like, well, if you want to take another spare.
So I I took both lights and they were 50 bucks each which is pretty good also. The next person that actually
needs a light, yeah, won't have one.
Well. Compensated Maddie.
Dude, I looked everywhere I was. Made of the laser parts holder.
I am the parts water I'm. I will happily be apart for,
for, for, for that. So yeah, I gave the light all
good, all gravy. That's why they were able to
line everything up and make sure it was all ready before paint.
So hopefully get the car back by the end of the week, which I should, and the Laser will be lasering all over again.
So that'll be good, good fun. How close is that car to Club
Regio? Same thing.
It is a year and a half away. Not, not.
Much, not much, no, no, not much really.
So I really want to get it to to 360 three 70,000 by then and that would be that would be nice and nice number.
So, but anyway, we're we're, we're doing, we're doing well with the with the old little laser.
So yeah, that's pretty much my car update.
I think from my end, I don't really have anything else to to add to that. Moving on to tonight's topic,
gentlemen. So a few weeks ago we discussed
some brands and what cars you would buy from those brands.
Tonight we are doing the same thing, but we're doing it a few different brands. So tonight we are doing Hyundai,
Kia and Mazda. So we've got the, the, the
Thailand from South Korea and, and, and everyone's favourite Rotary company, Mazda, who don't make a Rotary anymore for now.
So out of all of them will go, will go through the we'll go through companies first, but the we'll go, we'll start with Hyundai. What would you buy from Hyundai
and Chad? I mean, you've already done
this. We know what you what you've
bought, but out of there their whole, their whole collection of cars and I'll read them to you because they've got they've got they've got quite, quite a big range, which is surprising because like a lot of other companies don't really have anything anymore. So they're their models are as
follows. They've got the venue, the Kona,
the Santa Fe, the Tucson, the palisade.
Now as we know Edward Bunting, our good friend Melissa Etheridge sings about Tucson and Santa Fe.
They've got the the the AU inspired Onyx 6, the I think really good looking Ionic 5, the Kona electric kind of hybrid, I30 sedan hybrid and the Nexo, which I've never even know existed. They've got the I-20 N the I-30
N I30N sedan. I only 5 N Tucson line N bat and
they've got they're still sell the scenario, the Staria and Staria load and they've got like a massive truck called the mighty electric, which is the future, which they haven't really released yet. So they have got quite a quite
an extensive range. Still think the best concept car
in the last 20 years with the envision 74.
I think that one sick, but quite quite an extensive range considering all what Fords are Ranger so and Everest.
So it's actually nice to see a company with, you know, something for everybody, as they would say.
So where would you put your money, gentleman, and why?
Easy, they still have the I-30 and fastback OR.
No, they don't. Only the hatchet.
Only the Hatch also. Damn sedan.
I was gonna say an I30N hatch. Because they're cool.
They're hot. I like those.
I like the way they go. But I'm quite a fan of the
Staria. I hated it when we first saw
photos. I thought, no, what have they
done? It's weird, doesn't have front
lights, looks weird, blah blah. Looks like a beluga whale.
But then when you see them, you go, oh, they're actually quite a good size. They've got a really big glass
area like the, the side glasses comes down quite low.
So as passengers in it, it's it's a bit like the egg.
There I go of Sir Chad. You know, when it came out, it
was like whoa. And but it was actually really
cool design. And I like Astaria and I see
quite a lot of them as delivery vans and stuff and they they suit that really well. They sort of have this really
nice modern, you know, delivery van, right, not Mitsubishi Express sort of things. So I reckon I'd be a a showy,
not a Staria. You know, like the modern day
Terrago perhaps. So.
So you get a story, not a story alone.
Do you get a story with the seats?
I think I'll get a story with the seats, yeah, and maybe a few accessories from the dealer as well.
OK. Well, it's interesting that you
picked that she actually that's a.
Good thing block outlines, Chad. You know, we'll get some shades
for it. You need big.
Blobs. You need to get a raise phone
didn't get an order. VIP style.
Yeah, it's. You have to go to what's that?
What's that? The blinds played the blinds add
the the blinds company think the why with the yeah, the blind factory you have. You have to get them to to, to
cut, measure and deliver and in the store.
But yeah, yeah, good choice. David Prince, what would you
take? Well, I'm surprised you about
this area actually for me, but yeah, I can I can see that rationalising the path of rationalisation made did make sense. I do love the I-30 in hatch
because I love that it's just a little hatch and I mean the the sedan, the sedan totally works in the as a as an end doesn't otherwise to me. It's just a bit the the smaller
wheels and and all that. It's just a bit try hard, I
think, but but in that performance blue, I think the white they look fantastic, but I'd go I'd go a hatch or I'd go Nero. I haven't driven in Nero yet,
but I've. Been an error.
Sorry. Isn't it a Canon hero?
It's not a Hyundai Nero, is it? He said Nick, so didn't you,
Hyundai? Nexo your next?
Yeah, yeah. They're talking a crazy diver.
Prince Crazy. OK, No, no, you come back to me
on that. No, I go I30 in in a hatch.
But Emmanuel, thank you. I don't know if you can get a
manual now. I think you can in a manual.
In should be able to. Let me get a menu.
So last time we did this as well, I tried to be relatively realistic kind of with the idea that if I was spending more money, am I going to spend this kind of money on this kind of car And the I-30 in hatch wins it very easily.
I would very happily, you know, spend the money on that kind of car. Having driven automatic one, I
had a great time. I think I personally would
probably buy manual just because, you know, I, I personally like that sort of engagement.
Yep. So I'd be, I'd be very happy
with that. Now with the idea that I had a
lot more money to spend and I was willing to spend this kind of money on a car. I'm going to go a bit more
adventurous and put on the Ionic 5N.
I'll do that that. That's such a cool.
Car 5. Yeah, it's, it's, it's like a
$110,000 plus car. That's where it starts, I think
and it goes up from there. So you're spending a good chunk
of change, but it is, I think especially if you are in the performance EV kind of side game.
Yeah, you that is probably the best bang for buck you're getting. Even if you're not in the EV
side, you're still on the performance side.
Again, that is some of the best bang for buck getting.
Where else for $110,000 and some change will you get 478 kilowatts? You know, it is an astronomical
figure. Just, you know, I've seen some,
some reviews talking about it. It is, yeah.
It's a crazy car. I have not seen a negative
review. Like everybody that that that
goes into it says I'm gonna hate this car.
Even John Cadogan was like, I'm gonna hate this car.
I hate this car already. He drove it and he's like, Oh my
God, I've kind of fallen in love with it.
I don't. Know he's pretty anti EV, but
he's like, this is yeah, this is amazing and yeah, and you see why again, like I think it's comparing it to an RS6 was it?
And yeah, yeah. Um, it's just again like the how
much money are you paying more if you were to get the R600 a lot quick look. Like another 150 on top.
Yeah, they started like what, 200 and 300 something today?
Well. Yeah.
So for for similar performance, like you have one of these and have your house deposits still. So just just a crazy amount of
power, you know, a crazy colour all around.
And it wouldn't be like this is the purchase I'm going for.
It's this is actually a fun purchase.
I have the money to spare and I want something very, very powerful. That's card pick.
Someone at my gym's got one of them in in the blue and it looks epic, like it looks so good it the pictures make it look smaller than it actually is actually quite a big car.
And it's because like the pictures make it look like it looks like I30 hot hatch, but you get there.
It's like it's just proportionally bigger, but you know, in every, in every way but it it look, it still looks right. I think it's I think it's based
on a palisade floor. Pan yeah, it is correct.
Yeah, yeah. So it is quite big, but my God,
it's good. I've if there's an EV that I
want that that is that it's it's Katie said she approved.
It's you know, it's it's it's been it's it's people that that cannot they cannot describe how good, how good it is to drive.
And I'm, yeah, I'm, I'm all aboard that.
Like it, it's got fake gear changes because it's, you know, it's trying to, trying to imitate gear shifting.
I'm like, I'm like, dude, like it's the closest thing that we've got to the future. And I think, I think it's
brilliant. I would 100% agree with you
there, Callum Scotty. Um, I picked the same when it
comes to that, but if we're looking at my own money or something like that, I actually prefer to go with the I-20 N.
OK. Something about the smaller size
and that cause it's, you know, similar to what Mattie's got in that size, the smaller engine. I don't know.
It just seems I just like the look of it.
Just nice and really nimble and zippy.
That's my kind of pick and my kind of car.
I think it would be a lot of fun.
There are, there are. These got for you to manage a
bigger car really I think it's good size for.
You perfect for me. Would be a bit smaller than the
blade I reckon. He doesn't.
He doesn't need. Too much, you know, with parking
and whatnot. Doesn't need the Camry 2 ring to
to. Way too big.
Camry Touring's huge. Yeah, too big in the parking
spots. Chad, you've you've, you've
already done this. You went and bought a brand new,
you know, I30N sedan. That's yeah, that's still be
your choice. Or would you would you say,
well, you know what, I wouldn't mind trying this.
I love that car and I, it's one of the only, I mean, apart from the I-20 and it's one of the only manual cars you can get from them. So I have to stick with the
I-30, what I what I have. But if I was to get a second one
and a second Hyundai, I'm going to go towards Astaria.
Yeah, 100%. Just ever since they came out, I
just, you know, I used to see them at night, but they're like they're like they're coming towards it looks like it freaking alien ship tactical flight event, sure, but it's designed so out of this spoiled lady.
Let's go test driving chat. I'm kind of, I was just thinking
after this point I'm gonna get on Google and have a look online. OK, let's do it.
I'm kind of, you know, maybe I'm a.
Very. I'm I'm taking the I-30 and for
service in a couple of weeks and I'm kind of tempted to do it during the week so I can get a a long car.
Yeah, just asking. For one with, ask for a staria.
Ask for one with sweets. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like this area, the 878 seater or whatever.
Yeah. Yeah, on Tuesday night and we
can do the. Podcast, yeah.
That'd be. Fun thing, where do you live?
You West side? East side, West NW or I'll go
to. Your of Northwestern.
And then I'll go to Alan Deep Singe and look at the MX5 and have a nice. Goat body up in the in the
starter and then we go over. Yeah, go Curry for everyone,
hmm. Yeah.
Yeah, I like that choice thing that's.
Cool. What are you, Maddie?
Um, I like the I-20 N because I'm a, you know, I like that, that small little hatch, little fighter hatchback, but the I30N sedan for me, it's probably the one I really want purely for the fact two reasons. One, it's brilliant and two, it
is a cut price Civic type R. It does everything the civic
type I can do, just with not as much power and it doesn't have the the civic type R badge, but it is very, very good.
All the reviews about to say if you can't afford to type art, this is what you buy and you and you would not be disappointed.
And you get a track warranty like like what company?
What companies give you a truck warranty these days?
Like nobody. Yeah.
So that's like it's pretty it's pretty impressive that that they they they give you that. They give you that, you know,
which is, which is kind of unheard of to be honest.
So we've got I30 incident in for you Matt starring for me with seats. Not the loading one, the other
one. David was the 30 Hatch I30 hats
N Hatch. Alan was the.
I30 in hatch. Thing here Scotty was 20 in
hatch and Chad is as he purchased I30IN sedan but also Staria. And also the.
Machine. They're wasting all their energy
on on cover. Bands and all hatches.
Two signs that defies. Good.
Yeah, wasting your time. Hyundai hot hatches and a decent
van. That's all the world wants.
Can I just say that? Every every car manufacturer.
Yeah, firstly, I want either like Hyundai's kicking goals, man, like like they're they're they're they're range is really good. Like my brother bought a, you
know, bought for his wife a brand new Santa Fe and it's a, it's a beautiful car to drive now that.
Really clarify that's not the new new shape that's just come out that. Last one, the square box.
I was looking at the new shape today online and from the front and the side you go, you know, it's kind of like a mini Prado mini Defender, very box box. OK.
The arts on that car I think almost eclipses the Pajero Sport for being shocking. OHS.
Pets are not wrong, they're way too low.
It's horrible. It's just alright, baby.
It's not right, baby. And I said to the boys that
work, why didn't they just make a Prado copy?
You. Know well they'd have a, you
would if that, if that looked like the new Prado and was a Santa Fe at 70 grand, they would sell.
So I mean they will sell a lot anyway, but it would be an absolute killer. And I think once again a car
company has managed to stuff up the arse so you'd have to back it into the garage every night because you couldn't come out and look at that. It's it's not good anyway.
Next company is key is key, which is Hyundai is, you know, Hyundai sister or brother or whatever, whatever you wanna call it. So their current range is as
follows, gentleman. Just looking at the Kia website,
you click on cars and they all come up with just like white, just plain looking cars. It's been uninspiring.
I must. Say I I would agree with that.
I would agree with that. So their cars are the Picanto,
the Serrato, the Stomach, the Celtos, the the Sportage, Sportage Hybrid, Sorrento, Carnival, Nero, Mirror B, EV6V6, GT V9EV5 and the Tasman which is yet to which is arriving in 2025. But they've got quite a quite a
big range actually, don't they? So what are you taking and why,
gentlemen? Gunter.
Stressed about. Picanto GT line in a manual
which is still available. It is.
So that is a small, fun little car.
I think it's less than 90 kilowatts all around, but it's a tiny car. So yeah, that's what you really
need. Just great to part about town
and, you know, have some fun on some on some twisty roads.
I think that'd be like a V pick. Again, being more adventurous,
you could get the V6 GT with its 430 kilowatts, you know, not the not the full 478 from the Hyundai.
But again, if you're willing to spend 110 plus $1000 and you want something, you know, in that performance range, it's it's definitely a pick. But I say that the the pecan
toes probably, you know, we've always had plus what for the Picanto GT lines and the fact that it still exists.
The the fact that it still exists and the fact that you can get in the manual, It's hard to beat for the for the rest of the range. The range is just a small, you
know, SUV or a big SUV or an even bigger SUV.
Thank you. No, no, hold on.
Hold on. Yeah, cracking car this thing
out too. You can Kia you.
I was tempted by a Carnival, but I've got starrer on my mind now I think. Carnival off home, you know.
You, you just sounded like Monday ago.
It was something on my way. It's like carnival.
I had story on my. This is not the 80 beats you're
saying that. Yeah, I think so, yeah.
I think I'm with Alan. I like, I like the Picanto and I
like the hot little Picanto in a manual.
Yeah, I I reckon I'd be tempted by that too.
The rest are just disinterested really you have been in or hot hatch. It's the sign it's scenario so
Yundi. And the the sorry and David
Prince, you're your choice. Well, another, another Canada.
They gonna be busy at the Canada sales near Pokedex GT Manuel, but as I got confused previously with the Nero, the Nexo the Nero isn't isn't a bad alternative in a hybrid I reckon.
You looked at one nearly for your very nearly family car, David. I know.
Yes, yes, because it ticks all the boxes needed ticking except badge. Yeah, no, that's quite an
impressive package. And there now everything back
then when we're looking was like, yeah, you can order one and 18 months away. Well, yeah, now there's stock of
everything pretty much, you know, So it's much more, yeah, you can make a much more informed decision, I think, sort of looking at them and comparing them in the middle and all that sort of thing, so. Other than Toyota hybrids, I
think you can get you can get most stuff now.
Yeah, yeah, Toyota hybrids are still 12 to 18.
There's still a way. It's ridiculous.
Correct. And I was talking to the workers
the other day, I think someone said Prado is coming in the same motor as every Hilux and every whatever other Toyota, all proud of that 2.84 cylinder diesel. I think that's it in the Prado.
But I said, hang on, isn't there a hybrid or a six or a turbo or something? They said no.
In the Lexus version there is like a V6 turbo or something coming. But the Prado version of that
new one is is just the same old 2.8.
I thought, Oh well, at least they should have gotten it right by now. They've produced so many
billions of them. The was just gonna say what is
the Lexus equivalent of the product.
It's a GX, it's called Lexus GX. So it's, it's basically a
twinky, a swanky Prado, as they've done before with Land Cruisers. You know, there's, there's been
a cruise. Alex.
And then the LX 570 and 470 and all those things, yeah, it's basically. The GX in Australia.
I think we are getting it. Ohk.
OK, we have. I don't think we have until now.
We've had no, we haven't previously, but I think we will be getting this one. I I'm pretty sure that's what I
heard. Yeah, I think we are.
But that's gonna be sort of, you know, Prada kicks off at 80 something grand and then and then the Lexus is up towards 120 or something. Yeah, 116.
Yeah, sorry to quite a bit of work for they're obviously the the Rev 4 boat arrived and there are dozens of new Rev hybrids in there the other day or so you know going to.
Kill pre pre ordered Yeah. But interestingly, there there,
there has been a slight update and they've actually changed the badge. The hybrid badge is no longer.
So how long are Toyotas warned that same hybrid badge?
It's now Lev lower emissions vehicle.
Really. Yeah, yeah.
So they moved from that very. Distant.
Is this the word hybrid? That's on the side of the door,
alright. OK.
And, and on the on the tower, on the tailgate and on on where that was LV LV Yeah. OK, because it's interesting
when they've made. Such a career out of it's
interesting rebranding given that there have been the experts at it for so long. But not true.
I've renamed. The Toyota badge, you know the
main emblem on a hybrid, has a blue sort of background.
Yeah, same with the Hondas, with the hybrid Hondas.
Yeah, so you can always tell at a glance, even if it had no other badges. That's the hybrid one.
Yeah. Who are we missing?
Who else? Who's yet to choose a Kia?
Mines just kind of insane as everyone else.
Mr GT Scott Yeah, yeah, no, it's good.
We have we needed to get car. One of each colour.
Yeah, yeah. Matthew, what are you choosing
out of the clear range? Well, obviously the Picanto
because that's what we can't really surprise, surprise.
But I actually I can't I I really like the carnival.
I've driven a few carnivals before.
They're good. They're great thing.
No wonder why they kind of killed the Tarago.
But then they're not cheap anymore, that's for sure it.
Did take them a few goes. I've gotta say the early but
there. Wasn't just off the bat.
Yeah. No, no, no, not who?
They took them a little while. Yeah, the the early, early
carnivals had a habit of blowing up.
Yeah, yeah. So, so they were, they were a
great thing, but the later ones are fantastic.
Like they drive like a car, they drive really, really well.
So I'm very partial to a carnival.
They pretty much own that van segment as in people move a segment. They they pretty much own it.
There's Carnival and then there's OK couple of others who play in it and look, maybe Staria will come on song, you know, once people can stomach the looks of it, I suppose.
But but Carnival really owns that there's there's not much else. No, like they're not cheap
either. Like, you know, the, the, the
carnival like they're there's, there's an expensive thing, like remembering carnivals used to be cheap as because they were. 30
grand. Remember that grant?
Yeah. Yeah, you know, if you had a
family of four kids and post granny or something, 30 grand in the old days, you get into a carnival for when a Terrago was 4550 or something and an Odyssey 50 and you know, like it really was hell. You know what?
What do you buy if you've got that many kids and you need a people mover and. Absolutely.
Like, I mean, they, you know, as I said, they're not, they're not a cheap car. Like they, they start at 55
grand, I think what was on the road.
Yeah. So 54 on the ground and they go
all the way through GT line diesel to 7077 grand, which is, you know, that's, that's a lot of money.
But again, that's kind of where, where, where most cars are these days. Like it's, they're not, they're
not cheap anymore. So yeah, I, I like a carnival.
I said I've driven a few more of the more recent ones and they are, yeah, they're a good thing. I really, really like a
carnival. What's the next brand, Matthew?
The final brand of this evening is Mazda Now.
Easy. Everyone go in explosive.
What gave it away, buddy? What gave it away?
The thing that the that the show is called Car Talk.
We have people talking about cars, but but I'm gonna be honest with you guys. Like I find Mazda's range really
boring. Or is it just me or is it just
me? Like I'm.
Incredibly. Except.
The go on the website and you click range.
The first piece is just SUVs and they know what they're selling here and they're like that's what people want to look at.
Don't worry about the other pages like the last page is the MX5. Quite quite literally there for
me becoming Audi and it's and it's just like they all look the same like no matter which. And like, I get this design
language and I understand that, but like they're kind of all like, if you, if you look at that first page and this side of the, of the SUV page, they virtually all look identical, just longer. Like, I don't know if you, if
you, you know, you know, like they, they all look the same and there's no difference. I like him as a six and I always
have so Mazda 6 in a waggon, it would be, would be probably my pick. I love her so well.
Look, if if it was, if it wasn't any choice would be the, you know, MX5 RF that that's that's for me.
That's like one of the driving perfection.
Why you want to the RF? Because I kind of I like the
weather retractable fastback looks.
I think it looks great. I I'd go for the soft top.
Colin, are you? The RF really becomes like,
almost like you just got a bit of a sunroof rather than an actual? You know.
Like you're supposed to. This is a 2 door small car.
Just mine. Soft top do it properly, make it
fast. With this other it takes up all
your boot space. Yeah, make it risk losing your
two pay for, you know. Why don't you?
Yeah, I lost it. Well, well, well, it's while
it's OK to be wrong, Edward and alum, I'm still taking the the the the the RF. But yeah, if it wasn't it wasn't
for the yeah, thank you. If it wasn't for that, I'll
probably take the Mazda 6 waggon.
I think I'm six waggon is probably is probably where is where I'm going to be with. 2 1/2 litre turbo with 173
kilowatts I think. Last normal waggons you can buy
and one of the last true sports cars you know you.
Can too much. Yeah, I'm, I'm on board with
those two. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm kind of like a
I couldn't give two shits about the rest of their Ranger CX Rangers. Like they don't really they
quite literally don't do anything for me.
I was actually having this conversation with staff recently and she's like she's like, I'm like, she's like, I get it.
I get what you're bored as they all they all look the same and like I've always been a staunch Mazda guy, like, you know, for obvious reasons, but like the the they they can't Rangers like whatever, like master 6 waggon, yes, Mazda MX5, yes, everything else, yeah. You know, I wouldn't mind
getting a like a Mazda 6 twentieth, you know, 20th edition or 20th 20 year anniversary edition with their like they got like that that dark red leather interior that that's that's pretty it's pretty hot.
I'll take that. So yeah, that's that's where I'd
be gentlemen. What about?
So I'm assuming Alan, you're going to be 5 and that's it.
No, I I do the them as a six as well I think.
In a waggon or sedan. I really I could do both OK.
I do appreciate a sedan in general.
I don't really like enjoy the waggons as much.
I know the value of waggons, but it's just I just like to clean look of the sedan. My uncles owned him as A6 sedan.
A good friend Julian, he's at him as A6 sedan and always been like, I could definitely see myself in one of these.
So Mazda 6 sedan very easy and then the MX5 soft top which is the correct option you? Know you're wrong, but it's OK.
The correct option because why are you buying an MX5 let's you know drive to tell you what chat you come in my MX5 you know with the soft top down you'll have a great time and you will change your mind. I would be on board when it's an
NANBNC, but when we get to the NBA, gotta be gotta be the RF.
Yeah that'd be my fix. Look if do any of them have like
7 seats the the SUV's? I think the bigger ones do
actually. Looks nice 690. 690. 90.
Yeah, so if I had made like a lot of mistakes in life and had a lot of kids to all around, maybe.
But like, it wouldn't be my first pick.
I'd even try and as one of my family friends did by station waggon, throw the kids in the back.
Just hope the cops didn't catch on.
But see, that's what that's what like, you know, I just feel, you know, like a waggon and stuff was quintessentially Australian for so long. Like if you had a few kids,
you'd buy a waggon, you'd buy a. Dog throw them around the.
Waggon in the back you you'd buy a VP Commodore vacationer waggon and that that would be that would be your, you know, the the family rig. But like now it's, it's just
like I always talk about the SUV SUV craze before, but like, you know, I just kind of want come with that, you know, that, that, that waggon back. Cause it's alright.
I think it's obviously a waggon and I see it like, I see like a mother 6 waggon or something. I'm like, yeah, you, you get it.
You know, I, I said it was a good choice.
You know, that's that's the classier the classier choice, but who am I to make? That curiosity, you see him as a
six waggon. How old is the person driving
it? OK, I will, I will agree with
you. No, I.
Don't know how, but like I don't think there's a person under 60 that's probably been like, yeah, I want to have six waggon, which is. Totally fine.
But my question to you is why are the people that are over 60 buying them? Like if they're retired and you
know they take the grandkids in or for what reason would they by the waggon, would they would they just buy?
Off clothes made the golf clubs, they sit nicely.
They would sit nicer in a waggon that that is true.
Scotty. Would you agree with that with
the golf clubs? Oh yeah, definitely.
Yeah. If you get lost there, resident
Godfather, that's for sure. But yeah, well, that's what I'm
going with. So Edward, you said you'd be
going MX5, right? Yeah, proper soft top manual MX
51.5 litre. Do you get the 1.5 over the two
litre? Yes.
OK, a lot of people say that it's the more fun engine, the more OK cool. Is.
The does I have different gearing between the 1.5 and the
two? Boys user, right?
Because. I recall one of them basically
being a one to one ratio in 6th. Just taking direct drive in 6th.
Yeah, purely because it's so light and efficient.
Anyway, it doesn't matter but to get a little more performance out of it. But that might have been a model
or something, so I'll have to refresh myself on that.
Well, they have, they have just updated the MX5 for its third revision in the D, So I think it's gonna be the last revision of this generation before they bring out the next one.
Would be interesting to see because did you reckon they're gonna go hybrid or something for the next one thing that's everybody's going or? It's going to be the the
Roadster that, uh, Tesla never brought out.
It's going to be an EV. I'm just looking at star ears.
Sorry to so this this one in white looks cracking with dark tinted windows and alloys. It's all wheel drive, is that
right? I've got the, they've got the
they, they hate track all drive thing, Yeah.
Imagine that that could do everything.
You'd go to the snow. You could tow a trailer.
This is a 2.2 turbo diesel all wheel drive with, you know,
proper seats and alloys and dark windows. 44 grand now OK plus
I'm roads. So you've got a Pajero in stock
now too, have you? People like that would do a lot
of things that because, you know, the old goes like yours.
Chad came in all drive, as did my shape.
You know, in very limited numbers.
Yeah. But your shape, the egg shape,
there are a few getaway models or whatever that were all wheel drive like one of those very versatile vehicles.
Yeah, I think everything, you know.
I think. Yeah, I think, I think.
Yeah, like when you think of what craps costs these days, like like just saying, you know, a carnival 70K, whatever, a Staria diesel, all wheel drive, it'll be talkie.
You could tow some stuff with it that's that's quite remarkable.
People really good price. That that 2.2 is using
everything as well, like they use it from this, from their small little things to all the way to their big, you know, centre fees and stuff. So it's, yeah, it's a very, it's
a very good engine. It's probably the same as in the
Tucson and whatever. Yeah, it's the same 2.2 across
the range, so obviously different things tune I believe, but. That aric that and a new
chimney. If you had to have two new cars
though, that pair. That's it.
What could you not do? That's true, but you couldn't.
You couldn't go around corners to to to.
To you couldn't. You know, you know, but you
know, that's a good pair. Is it is a good pair?
Is a. Little, big and little.
You'd have a vehicle for every occasion.
It's alright. Well.
Yeah, I all wheel drive Staria and MX5.
That's a pair. I think that's a better pair to
be honest. With you and a Jimmy, what you
mean? Could.
Have what could it? Maybe if I sell everything I
could get those 3. You could.
Yeah. Yeah, I'll do some homework
after this. David Price numbers because it
well, well, well, well. Edward Buntings crunching
numbers. David Prince, what are you
choosing? OK, well, something no one else
has chosen is a bit radical. CX-30.
No, no, no, I'm actually a bit of a sucker for A3 sedan.
And they are nice, the three sedan.
I reckon the three sedan is probably the nicest forward or you know everyday portal sedan on the beautiful design for 40 for the bargain basement price of $47,147.
How much 47 for the esteemed aspect which is.
The nice spec. Yeah.
So that's for the there's actually I think there's six or 712. Will drive.
Staria is less mate 20,000 K. 123456 There's seven trim
levels. That's insane.
Looks like four too many. Exactly right.
The extender is the top, absolutely dripping in tech and luxury and bows this and that .5 sadly loses a point because up
until I think just the recent update you could order a manual in any of them. Looks like they're all autos now
sadly, which is a shame. Yeah I mean I have to find a ex
ex demo or something but but I reckon that they'd be a cracking little sedan. Do everything you need, but
you'd have to have an MX 51.5 soft top as well.
I'm gonna still do the 1.5 X. I'm looking at it and the
website doesn't seem to be showing it well.
I'm just looking in the wrong spots.
Can I just say I for the first time ever in Moses like Mazda 3 sushi 2-3 range. The sedan looks better than the
Hatch. Yeah, 100%, yeah.
And the hatches, like I, I think the hatches horrible actually, because, uh, after sitting in one, the, if you just flick between the sedan and the Hatch, like you see the body shapes that back kink, the back quarter panel is and the back door is ridiculous. Like it's, you can't see nothing
out of it. There's a Daniel the sedan.
Actually, it is the better choice.
I would I would have the sedan all over 100%.
Oh, there you go. We're in agreement.
Look at that. Also quick update, they did
actually 1.5 MX 5 unfortunately from 2022 ohm.
Really. That's only the two litre.
Well, it was one thing. Are you changing your decision?
Then. No, I still get one.
Scotty. It's tough choice because I
don't really like anything. Um, hmm, I mean, yeah, you got
the MX5 and then you kind of think a bit more daily if I was going to. And then I start thinking, well,
David's got a pretty good point. Hmm.
Wouldn't go the managers at 2. the Hatch looks alright but
still little bit too small and it's not really nimble or anything like that. It's not like an I-20 and or
anything so. Is basically the Mitsubishi
Lancer of Mazda's range. How long has that been out, that
shape? It's been out in two forms
because it's. That's what the. 2014, I think
that new shape, yeah. Yeah, it's.
It's it's 10 years. Yeah, yeah, it sounds like the
way you fight the two facelifts. Yeah, they had two faces.
Yeah, no butt lift, Yeah. And you got the hatchback looks
boring and the sedan looks even worse.
You know, like to sit down and the.
More so, I think I'm in total agreement with David Prince.
There's a, there's a three. Yeah, in the sedan form.
Good choice. Good choice.
And Chad? I'm doing MX5 all day every day
except just to be different. I would also consider an MX30
which is that weird thing with the suicide doors.
Ohe OK. It's a it's a small SUA, but
it's got, you know, that rear door that opens, you know, outwards. I just think it's a interesting
design car that I think it's sold terribly.
They're probably I've already asked it or will eventually.
Well, yeah, I think it's a kind of a quirky car.
Yeah, I do like the idea of the suicide doors, but it's it's, it's an interesting car that isn't it?
It's hasn't sold well. And and like they had an EV
version. Like have they discontinued the
EV version of that yet? Like the yeah, because I had
like miserable range and it was like, why would you spend this much money when you can buy anything else that will do everything better? But yeah, it looks like it's
still available, OK. Hang on.
All of them. It's called a mild hybrid.
OK, Hmm. Actually, maybe not in
Australia, never mind. What do they mean when mild
hybrid? Does that mean you just get poor
fuel economy? It's it's it's like.
Mild stroke, you know 100% but you know.
OHS gonna say more like let's take a mild Curry like it's you know it, it's taste good. But it's really cooking on mild.
Good plug in hybrid batteries. This hybrid, yeah.
I think the mild hybrid is just a bit of extra assistance just to get you off the line and stuff like that for extra economy of the fuels. But yeah, not not exactly the
sold on on the rest of their range, but it makes 5 I mean, I mean when did the ND come out? Is that that have to be that
have to be getting? To have to be OHK 13 or
something. And they are only because that's
been a, it's been a long generation.
It's been, Let's have a look looking into it from 2015.
It was launched in 2014 but sold and since 2015.
So that's always a 10 year old design.
Yeah, there you go now. So, alright, so just just
recapping Chad MX5 RF or the CX-30.
Yeah. RF RF.
Well, so the MX30 Scotty would say Mazda 3 sedan David Prince is Mazda 3 sedan alum is MX5 soft top Edward bunting MX5 softer. Actually, no, he's just staring
for all the brands like giving us.
The maker Staria. They do now.
They are always. Really steal some Asda badges
and stick them on. The Staria has a 2 1/2 tonne
braked tow capacity. That's all you need.
That's pretty damn good. Yeah, that's all you.
What kind of engine does it have?
2.2 diesel. Diesel.
All right. You can probably tell that then
the measure was just some kind of 1.5 petrol.
It's like, you know, just. Struggling.
Dude, Speaking of Tommy, when I was picking up my car, I was I bumped into the guy who saw me in the car and and he does a lot of drifting and stuff, though. He bought an AU Falcon, just a
drift car, like as a drift car and he takes it take to keep it right and colder and and you know, Winton and all that stuff.
Anyway, he was telling me I was like, oh, I just thought I just saw my Ranger today because he had a brand new V6 Ranger.
I'm like, Oh, you just you've only just bought it.
He's like, yeah, cut off with good money for it.
So I sold it like it was replaced with he's like a Raptor and I'm like, I'm like, oh, will be as good to target.
He's like, no, not as good timing and not as good on fuel economy, but it's they go pretty good.
So I wanna I wanna be happy with it.
I'm like, dude, you, you complain about the fuel economy toying with your diesel 2 minutes before it, before this there you and I've got like, dude, your fuel economy is if you, if you buy a Raptor, you're not gonna get fuel economy so.
Like also with the if they go pretty good, I'm like your manufacturer, you, the company you're for also sells a Mustang, which if you really about the guard, then you know, get to Mustang. Good.
Yeah, well. He also, he also did tell me
that all the dark horses before they got before they got released to the public were sold out anyway.
And I was like, what do you mean is I was like, well, as they were announced, like all these people who bought like all the limited edition Mustangs just came in and ordered, ordered, ordered them and they all the allocations went like that.
I'm like, that's ridiculous. He's like, Yep.
So there will be no more dark horses for anyone available.
So yeah, there you go. There's a bit of a car top.
If you want a dark horse, you can't get one.
Don't bother. Don't bother.
Going forward, don't ever go to the dealership.
Car Talk top tip is if you want any kind of exclusive or limited edition car, spend upwards of $1,000,000 with any dealership and then you can get your foot in the door.
Also if you. See something 1,000,000 bucks
with Ford dealership or something.
Just like you know. Like. 1010 Ranger Raptors.
Yeah. And just, you know, move them
along. Yeah, man, yeah.
It's interesting how much they make, but so we wanna quit differently today, guys, It's a I was cause I've been, I've had a really busy few days. Um, the chance to write the
question, but what I'm doing is, have you guys ever seen, have you been paying attention like the TV show?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so I'm gonna I'm.
Gonna I'm intentionally. I'm sorry.
No, I know you haven't. I want to choose random
questions that we've spoken, that we've asked over the last 10 episodes or more and in any order.
We're gonna see if you remember what they are and and and.
Go random random. Questions.
Quiz questions. Random quiz questions from like.
It could be any of the last 10 or 15 episodes like.
I forget the answers even. This is the reason why you know
it's called they Have you been paying attention episode of.
Well, we already know the answer to that.
No ones been paying attention. Yeah, that is correct.
That is so. How are we in the quiz when
everyone wins? Yeah.
Uh, well. Participation trophies.
You like participant you, you, you like participation trophies, but I'm not a participation trophy kind of guy.
So, you know, I like to, to, to, to to get a winner out of something. That is the it's not enough that
I succeed, others must fail. Kind of.
Go correct, absolutely is absolutely correct.
And I'll also put a couple of new questions in there too.
So, um, so let's go. So we've got Chad, we've got
Scott, we've got David, we've got Ed, we've got Alan our in today's quiz. Now question one, what was the
last Mercedes SL that was offered with a manual transmission? God, you guys have not been
paying attention, Ed. I think it was a not in
Australia I don't think. Oh, hang on, SL.
SL the last assault SLSL correct?
Yes, L. I think not an R129, the one
before it 107 I think. Incorrect.
God. We've even had the question.
On it I know. Always kind grateful.
For. Chad, I'll just say 129. 129 is
correct Chad. That was the last one you can
get the You could get it with the small, the smallest engine, the L, it was a 300. You could get a.
M103. Yeah, you you get a menu.
Wow. Question 2.
Question two has many been paying attention answer.
No. I think I think I should get a
point for that. Vodka has been named in car,
Drivers car and Drivers annual best third best cars 30 times, more than any other vehicle. David Prince. 100 Accord.
It is of your own accord, David, that you've got that correct, that is. My full name in that.
Glad that was pretty official, wasn't it?
It was not bad, not bad at all, not too bad, not too bad at all.
Question, sorry, what percentage of all Rolls Royces sold are still on the road today? This was a good month. 90.
Incorrect. I'll give closest to though.
Not so. So you said 90, David Edward?
Yep. I'll say 78. 78, says David
Prince. Also 45. 45, says Chad.
Which would be rich with the longevity Rolls Royce is obviously. Well, he he knows his his
English cars. I'll say 63. 63, says Scotty.
I'll say between Scotty and Davis I'll say and even 70 ish.
70 says. Well, 71, but you know.
Close to 71, says Alan. Closest to is David.
It's at 75%. Is it closer to without going
over? That works fine, yeah.
I'm calling the prices. Right.
Prices right? Shenanigans, it tells you.
Alright, next question, Question 4.
The Iceman is a car which which has been launched by which car company The Ace. Man.
Ace man, this is not it's not that old ago that we mentioned this episode that we went to this album, album this was.
A Mini. It was a mini well done album
that is. Correct, everything ended in.
Countrymen Club and Yeah. Yeah, that is correct.
It's too late. What a stupid car.
What's up, man? Question #5 The Hyundai Tiburon
got its name from the Spanish word meaning what?
Dad. Chad.
It was like chaos or something. Incorrect.
I think I missed that episode, I don't know.
Spanish word for unreliable no? Well, no, they they they weren't
bad. Why?
Why incorrect? Scotty and Ed Bunting still to
go. Spanish.
It is the Spanish word for something correct.
Broken arm. That's what I think of.
What? Which is technically part of
your leg. Can you?
Yeah. That's why I'm.
Not too much, yeah. Tiburon I don't know what does
it mean fast window. Something.
No, you got, you got well. Yeah, some kind of fast fish.
I'll need a more specific answer, Alan.
Well, you. A swordfish.
Incorrect. It is a shark.
Shark. Shark.
Weak, gentlemen. Just get half point.
Was the only one that got anything in the ballpark an animal? Score check Chad one, Alan one,
David 2, Edward and Scotty at the score.
You guys obviously have been paying attention.
General question that number six airbags in cars are designed to deploy at speeds over what in kilometres power please show.
15. 15, says Edward. That is incorrect, but I'll give
closer to. 40 OK. So I heard three people talk
down. Who was that?
David, I said 40. 25, says David.
Chad's at 4:00. Chads at 40.
Scott Allen. 20. Scotty is 20 and 11.
I'm going to say 30 kilometres an hour.
Bang on the money was David Prince AT25K an hour.
He's been paying attention. Question seven.
What does the word scoda literally translate to?
Based. Ah man, it's well, well, not
that. Skoda, Chad.
Chad. Is it like scoot or scooter or?
Something incorrect. Ah, is it David?
Is it? Is it feather?
Not incorrect. Anyway, gonna we were going with
that David. Yeah, yeah.
Something so weird and made no sense.
Yeah, that's correct. It it it is.
It is. The remember talking about it.
It's thing is Levaquin isn't it? Skoda originally.
It is. It is.
Absolutely it is. It's got something to do with it
being like horrible or something, horrible or no, good or bad or. It's got like, I'll give you a
.5 Scotty because that's. Supposed to be like what a shame
or something. No, incorrect.
It actually means. Too bad.
Too bad. I feel like it's in the same
ballpark. We're like, oh, what a shame.
Too bad, you know. God.
So much, I said. I'll.
Download. Question #8 Now this one is a we
haven't discussed on this one. This was a freshly air so they
one of my favourite little brochure questions.
The caption is. It's still only.
It's still the only V6 in its class.
And are the others that slow off the mark.
David. David.
The Unos 30X. 30X is absolutely correct.
David Prince, Well done. A question that #9.
Have question music do do do do do do do do do do do do.
In the Black Forest, yeah, that was when the Goodies had that radio station. They had one song.
This is old lady in there seeing her armchair, it was like, and coming up next, still walking the Black Forest, she's like OHP. Alright, question would die the
reborn Mitsubishi Palero, Pajero or Montero or Shogun as it known if it plays in the world it's said to be based on what other model in Mitsubishi's range? Alan.
I believe this is the Outlander. It is the Outlander.
Well done. That was correct alarm at the
Allander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle to be exact.
Question 10, last question of the of the night, Ford CEO Jim Farley said earlier this year. What about Ford Australia?
They nearly disappeared. Well done Edward Bunting Banner.
They nearly pulled out of the country if it wasn't for the success of What Car? The Ranger For the bonus
question. The Ranger says Mr Edward.
Bunting the Ranger, he said it wrong saying.
In buzz in. Scott Ranger.
There you go, Scott. There's the point the school

Going to take these sorts of insults around here.
He's like that. Go Curry.
