This is professional radio. Has front wheel drive.
But have you got anyone you want to think?
Just myself and now we'll do the after hours.
Gentlemen, what would you go? For thanks CSN.
OK. And because there's not a
supercar, there is. It's not.
Order ready. Perfection comes in the form of
two letters A&U. Long live my Ltd.
Leaving the car took it's Tuesday night here on 98.9 NW
FM. It's me Maddie Jay online with
Mr. David Prince. Mr Scotty No Johnson, Mr Rob
Zadie who's just joining us now when he's interwebs decides to work and new guests first on the show.
Charles, how you doing, man? Good man.
How are you doing? Good buddy, good, good.
Welcome to the show. Welcome to Welcome to us Talking
Crap for the next hour and. Yeah, thanks.
Thanks for having me sometime listener.
And yeah, it's a very good to make the boys.
Gonna be one of those guys. Long time.
The first time, Yeah, yeah, pretty much, Yeah.
Good to have you on board. Back.
Good. Having on board.
How are you boys going, David, Rob and Scotty?
What's happening in your world? What's happening with you guys?
Hopefully you're doing all well. Yeah, pretty good.
Thank you my friend. Yep, doing well, doing well.
Still soldiering on, so that's good.
Doing well. You should be doing more, but
doing well. Should be doing more.
Projects, You know, even getting that piece, 76 out of the garage, Maddie. 15th of January is when it's happening.
I'm going to be there. We pulling it out of the we're
pulling it out our care. It's happening that day.
It's happening. Said national peace any six day
from memory is. It I think it is here.
We'll make it 16. I don't know if you guys have
heard the latest there, but basically when it was just you and I, Rob having a discussion, we we we stepped back in time to the wonderful world of the 80s and 90s where where Rob was in his P-76 taking it to work as a daily driver and we get back on the road and that's the that's the net like that.
All the projects pretty much at this point, they're all kind of at a spot where you're getting painted or XYZ and now it's time to bring the piece of music code.
It's a long time slumber and bring it back to life.
It's going to happen mate, so I'm very, very.
Be speechless in anticipation. I am.
I think it's more speechless in horror of the amount of work he's about to do that's I think that's that's the bigger, that's the bigger, the bigger worry for him.
But let's get it straight into it.
Let's let's start with David Carr.
That's with you mate. What's happening with your
latest cars? I've been racking my brain
actually trying to think of anything exciting to say and there's not a lot this week. It's been busy in the lead up to
Christmas could international visitor in the family in the in my lovely daughter who's come out for a week for a family celebration which is fabulous and Sean Nicholas thing when you're on. By the time you hear this she'll
probably be back so but she's having a great time and we're looking after her very well. Before you mate had the spent
the weekend driving the N1 we had our annual craft club Christmas get together so that was a bit of a drive so that was good fun. I'm patiently watching the city
counting down in the last hour and a bit at an auction at Grey's. So that's gone out there to thin
the fleet a little bit. Is it doing well or are we a bit
disappointed so far? No, no, no, it's it's sitting
about 3-3 at the moment so if anyone wants well I was going to say anyone can beat on it but of course I will live audience but all in the interests. Of we you can put some put some
sneaky beans in there. For, yeah, so.
Just clearing the decks because only when you clear the decks and you actually have have space for something else.
Sorry, I just had. A bit of a sorry, sorry, sorry,
sorry. And the other thing, I'm
actually at Mr Wrigglesworth person that's been on the podcast before. He's got a bit to answer for
because he's actually got me all checking out Magna Waggons on.
There's a hole in the Magna Waggon Appreciation Society in that there's not many TRS is out on the road and I had one new in 93 and yeah, Andrews brought it all flooding back.
And so there's a bit of a hole in the in the collection of of Magna enthusiasts in the country in TR and TS waggons.
There's going to be a lovely one out there somewhere.
There's some fairly average one sitting in wreckers that that seem to pop up on Facebook marketplace all the time.
But a nice ones, Nice ones are hard to find.
But there were out there, So we'll keep our eyes open to one of. Those you know, I know where one
is, but I asked him for and he's like, ohhhhh, I'm not ready to sell it just yet, so. Not OK, That's alright.
That's alright. I'm not in any great hurry
we're. Done.
Yeah. We'll have to.
I think, I think when you're in a hurry, I think that's where you can make decisions that probably aren't best long term decisions. You've just gotta tread tread
water sometimes and just wait until the right thing right combination comes up. I actually got to work on one of
Andrew's cars last week. That was pretty exciting when
the beautiful TPP Magna Relate waggon keys.
Oh yeah, I saw that you posted that one up.
Yeah, yeah. So that was one of those jobs
that I had to look at before. And I thought to do it properly,
I need to pull this seat apart. So he had a spare seat at home.
And I said, well tell you what, I don't want to put this car apart. And I said you have to go
pulling the seat apart at home and then we know we can bring the bits. So the so I went out and had and
he couldn't pull the seat apart because the the clips that hold the backing on are pretty brittle so that they fit bit concerned about that. So he we actually have a close
look at it the other day and I worked out a way to fix it so without taking them apart. So it was a win win.
He was very happy. I was very happy.
He made me a good cup of coffee and that was good sales off into the sunset. Alright, off to save the day
again with another person's car, David.
I'm like the automotive cavalry Audi.
Maybe that's. What You were the automotive
Batman and and. What about in Batman?
Actually, that's I like that. I like that expand.
My best I would do my. Best thank you very much.
Appreciate it. Appreciate it, but I think
that's me for updates. I'm not a lot this week, but
I'll get back to you if I can come back with anything else.
Very good, Scotty. I think mines even less than
what I've done this week. Busy weekend so I wasn't able to
do too much UM. I did end up buying some new
rear pads and discs for the 31 so hopefully they arrive soonish. They're not coming from too far
away so I might get them by the end of the week or early next week. I was just having a look how
easy they are to install. The Pistons are a little bit
different there, screw type, so you've got to twist and to wind them back as opposed to just pushing them.
So I think you need a tool or something that you can buy.
A little tool cube thing you can get to wind it in, but most places have that. So I just find one of those and
should be done in no time and that is it.
Nothing else I need to do for that.
Car that should be on the. Road Get it on the road.
On the right path, I've been having dreams.
Got to that point, I think. Rob, what's up with you, man?
I've just been buying yourself eBay or online presence for my van. You know received the ceiling
fan and the shower kit and bits and pieces and nuts cert kits to put all the nuts through the roof so I can screw up the roof liner and things like that. So just been ordering all bits
and pieces. So yeah, that's a bit of fun,
getting the goodies delivered to your doorstep.
Hmm. Like Christmas every day isn't.
It it is. It's good.
Yeah. It's like Christmas every day
and it's, it's leading to what's Christmas.
So I'll back off on the orders because they'll be delayed.
So I'll wait until after Christmas now.
These ones get get put in first. Yeah, yeah, that's right, Post.
You know, any packages gonna robs die.
Hey guys, this little open state pay there.
I know a couple of posts there's still that used to go to school from Saint Albans. Of.
Voice look after a straight post, believe it or not, many years ago. And so I used to go out to all
the depots and all inspections out in South Melbourne and obviously a whole lot of places in South Melbourne and used to be a deputy. Yeah.
The big whatever you want to call it, not that they're the.
Sorting. Sorting centre and the one in
West Sunshine. So what did you do there?
Do you Did you do fire prepping to make sure no LED's came through or? That's correct.
Yeah. So nothing caught alight to make
sure that extinguishers are all delivered.
We sort of looked after some of the maintenance and cleaning in that for Australia Post. Then Melbourne Airport also had
their parcel delivery or whatever you want to call their centre in Melbourne Airport. So a couple of guys who still
know from Australia Post there. But apart from that, what else
do I think my son he's he's gone out and bought himself this thing called Ranger Rock. It wouldn't work.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, so she'll probably pick it up next week just before Christmas and nice little Christmas present.
So that's gonna be be believe it or not, he's daily.
Wow, yeah. Funny full silver, that bottom
of the right block base model. But the base model comes before
a whole lot of features. It's it's amazing compared to a
stock forward and what you get um so if yeah it comes before the lane keep assist and and all that sort of stuff you want deputy cruise control and alloy wheels and bits and pieces like that but still has a vinyl floor believer or not which is probably a good thing yeah. It's yeah, it's a real work.
Work one, yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, it will work sort of car. So, but for what what it is, he
got five years free servicing with it.
What else was there guaranteed buyback stuff like that, all sorts of things. So they they, I think they got a
lot of them. They're trying to get rid of
them. They can't, but that should be
alright. Can't they look a bit more
classier than the Ranger does? A Ranger looks, you know?
Yeah, senior face, whereas the Amrox a bit more stalled.
Yeah. Yeah, we'll see how it goes and
see how it drives. I'll be keeping an eye out if
he's one of those guys that tailgate me on the ring, Rd and I'll no. So long, Ranger.
It's Amarok. Yeah.
So yeah. With that, we control he'll have
the adaptive set. Those keep its distance.
Very good man. I'll tell him congratulations
and and that's. Yeah.
Before. Yeah, goodbye.
And then you've and you keeping the 63 Holly or you getting rid of it, mate? I'm taping it.
Very good. That's that's a that's a good
decision. He's got a big, big boys job
now. He's actually still at work, at
home. You were looking away.
So manager Holly well can officially be some manager with with that guy answer that that's yeah.
That's right, exactly. Exactly.
So yeah, I think a lot of the boys where he works all got their, their youths whatnot. Someone got Ranger Raptors and
whatnot. I think it's sort of hard to
sort of like he was looking for a car for awhile and he was looking at a small SUV and yeah, he's still start a fork out, you know, high 30s forties for him. And so I don't know, they'll
say, oh, big would be good for me anyway.
At least pitches car when I want to ohi things like that.
Do swaps with transit and he can take the transit.
Camping. I can take these, Amarok.
I don't think you'd be taking the transit anywhere, Rob.
Why? You won't be able to park it.
I go to Water Garden shopping centre.
I went there today in the shop, so I find a spot where there's a garden bed. You overhang it into the garden
bed. And.
It's the same length as a normal car park.
Then because the wheelbase is standard length would be your your whatever 4 metres. Pop is it?
Is it extended CAB? It's just the overhang, that
extra metre at the back, so it's amazing where you can park them.
And turning circles are good because of the wheelbases.
Relatively short, yeah? So it's not too bad, Not too
bad, very good. Hmm.
No, we've got some more boiler. Sorry, got some spoilers for the
the Ford Lieser, so I've got the front spoiler delivered so that we're going to be doing a bit of sanding and prep work to get all that sanded and painted and put back together again.
So the son in law is going to have his laser all hotted up and it's going to look a bit like your Sr, but not an Sr.
It's probably the the painter. Probably still better than mine.
Completely had it. But anyway, that's a it's
another story. I think I have to get Rob
Fabrications to to paint. No, yeah.
Yeah. It'll probably catch fire
knowing you then. Good enough experience now
Maddie, to do it. I do, yes, I I will.
I'll yeah, I'll have to take the rails off and everything, but that that'll that'll happen eventually.
OK, that's a big job. Work around it.
Work around it. Granted, type it off paint
around it, do not. You know, I was watching a like
drive tribe and there's this guy doing up the Jag and the plastic moulds along the doors were so brutal and he couldn't get them anymore. So they actually just sanded it
in situ and painted over the door moulds and everything at the same. Time.
Rather than won't take them off because of that brittle.
So you might need to do the same thing with the roof rails.
I'm too afraid to take any of it.
It was bright, but anyway, that's a.
Well. That's, yeah, we'll we'll
exactly right it will. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Well, anyway, that's that's kind
of those, you know, Neil tells you.
Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, you.
We haven't had any from you and we haven't had chance Come.
On. OHP you know I'm trying to
introduce our guest statement Prince, but I'll quickly fill you in with me with me. Typhoon, I pick up tomorrow.
It's getting couple getting their ball joints, standard Falcon things, front ball joints done and upper control arm bushings done. So I'll just probably pushing it
so it will never happen again and it'll be all good.
So that will get picked up will be done today but they just they just needed an extra day so I picked that up tomorrow.
Also been on tomorrow's Who's car from Getting the ceramic coating and the PPF on the front end so she's we've seen sneaky photo what they've posted on the on their on their on their story and looks good so that'll be picked up tomorrow.
Hopefully it doesn't rain because it would be nice to drop it out and enjoy it when it's all nicely polished in there and then they put some they put some suede protection on the steering wheel and a few other bits and pieces for us so so that would be good But with mum and I we we put about 300K on it on the weekend we we drove it down to to our favourite roads which which which you guys know about and obviously what wasn't pushing it hard just just just just putting it through the corners and it's it's very wide. I didn't realise how wide it was
until until he gets to some narrow some real narrow straits animals are OK then I proceeded then I preceded to almost have a head on with the BMW Club of America of Australia.
They were like E46 is going hard running around these corners.
I'm just like, oh God, I'm going to die today.
But so we know it was good. It was, it was really, really
good. Mom wasn't as terrible as I
thought you'd be. So that was that was that was
alright. But that's pretty much it on my
end now. Didn't you too?
Oh yeah, absolutely. I just.
Yeah, absolutely. It's it's her car on like to can
you draw? She like now would you wanna be
driven there and then you don't experience someone?
OK, well, that's OK. I mean, you're really twisting
my arm right now, obviously. So far so but yeah she's she's
absolutely right with it so she's like she's like Oh my baby for three days now I want to get it back.
My mom it's it's it's it'll it'll be back and she's like I wanna drive it so she's really really excited with it but yeah that's that's my updates Now tell us you're obviously new to the show long time was in the first time caller as they would say let's discuss about you in your cars because for for those playing at home this guy is a massive car guy in terms of an eclectic mix of vehicles which you own.
You like the weird and wonderful, but you also like just, you know, the standard AU Falcon, which is, which is like, which is, you know, it's it's God's chariot, as I would say it is for personalia. Fuck it to be, you know, blessed
with it. Oh, absolutely, absolutely.
The the cargos would work on it. Yeah.
Yeah, they were very kind. Yeah.
There you go. Edward Bunting, there's you, you
mentioned of the show cause he's like the always.
Mentioned there you want to show.
There, there it is. I've managed to, yeah, plug it
in. Shout out shout.
Out. But when did you get into cars
and basically what was you? What was your first few cars and
and what have you got now? So, like, how did you become the
big car guy that you are today? It, I have to say it started in
high school. So you know Wendy International
International Car Show was in Melbourne.
We round up a few people at school and go together and you know, just enjoy the enjoy the new stuff that was on display.
You know, there's a lot of nerdy photos of me that are, you know, I've found recently, you know, someone's taking a photo of me and the driver seat of like, a brand new and and CMX 5 or like, you know, C200 Compressor, like just, you know, just real nerdy stuff. Yeah.
Yeah. And, you know, I'm dressed
terribly as well because it's high school, obviously.
Yeah. So I I feel like that's where it
started. And then it kind of moved into
auto Solon from there. So you kind of get the
appreciation for the cars and then you go, oh, people are doing stuff to them, You know, that's not they're not just, you know, driving or whatever. But yeah, so I had a few, I had
a couple of friends in high school who are actually, like, a great above me. They already had their P plates
and one of them had VL Turbo, obviously, you know, as you do in those days. The other problem, like 2 1/2
grand. You know that.
But yeah, we went to auto salon a few that a few years in a row.
And yeah, just really sort of. I guess grew from there and you
know as soon as sort of I was ready to get my pays, yeah, I was just trying to find you know what I could so to to just be, you know have freedom and dry. My very first car that I like I
bought was a an end 14 pulsar base model automatic like 1.6
litre. It was an absolute around 1000
KS on a paid way too much for it back in those days even.
And I drove it home the first day and it was just pissing oil everywhere. Like like it was maybe the worst
introduction to car ownership. Like literally the first day I
picked it up, it was like right this.
Should be your first car. Yeah.
Shouldn't. Shouldn't be great.
Like, you know, I think I see I work all the time.
You're being a high school teacher.
I see kids rock up in brand new cousin.
Look, I get it, the parents because they when they're safe and everything like that. But to do it properly, you gotta
you gotta not be able to afford anything.
So yeah, yeah. So you know as you know my first
comes with $500 laser and and you know yours was a you know in 14 pulsar. So I respect that and I think
Scotty and I've had this discussion before like Scott, if you if you had your peace, peace again, you probably got the Triple S pulse or something like something cheap back in the.
Day. Yeah, that would have been.
Cool. Yeah.
Yeah, definitely. Two letter Q at the very least.
Come on. The queue, yeah.
Yeah. So I think back then I could
have picked up just an S13 or something.
Yeah, that would have been. I mean, yeah, that would have
been the time for that, definitely.
Yeah, we'll get to ask the things.
I mean, I'll tell you why, but so this this NFL Team 1.6 oil
leaking heap. Yeah, yeah, I lost it less than
three months. Like I bought it and I was just,
you know, the first thing I did to it was for the sound system, Like you had to. Yeah, right.
I had this like 15 inch sub that I got from something I can't remember. And I checked it in over on a
Friday night with a mate and yeah, just enjoy that for a few months until like I just couldn't stand it anymore.
I just, I hated the car. Like it was such a pace.
And yeah, so I I saw that to some dude, I don't know, some kid, some young kid like me at the time who was while they were looking for a first girl. And I was like, man.
What's been done? To Yeah, yeah, this, this is the
why. This is the generational trauma
that you have to also, you know, take on.
Passing on the. Baton exactly.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah yeah, so I I got rid of
that and then I oht. Sorry.
I should mention at the time I didn't have a manual licence and I couldn't drive Now I couldn't really drive manual at the time just because I never learned that like while all my learners.
Anyway, I proceeded to go and buy this in Excel and then 13 Exo manual. You know, that was the JP models
who have the white, you know, all white.
Yeah, with the white wheels and all that.
Yeah, it was it was great. I love that car and yeah, I
could barely drive it. I barely drive it back home.
I reckon I, you know, sold them maybe 6-7 times between Brunswick and North Melbourne. And you know, I just, there
would have to be like, you know, 10s of people vaping me and that day. But that's the one we're
learning. Just put in the deep end and
like, yeah, we'll have to have the drive.
That's right. I have to get this car home.
So you know, got it home and yeah, I really enjoy.com for
about 8 months or so. And then I was a broke unit
student, unfortunately, very, very small income.
And yeah, I think the fuel pump just it just died.
Couldn't get the car started And I just thought the worst of it and I thought, I'm going to get rid of this.
This is just going to be a hot potato in my hands and that's it. I pawned it off.
I yeah, I sold it to some guy was some young kid again talk to you then you know I I told him what they love with it and I haven't got a toad for him because I used my do you remember? A little kid.
Or no before that free to go? Yeah, yeah.
Sorry if I won three tow for the year or whatever it was and I got the car towed saying that it was my mechanic sales, you know, just because that's how you get away with it.
Yeah. Just the suburbs is.
Money. And I'm like, well, you're
already here, so just leave it there.
Yeah. So I got rid of that.
And, you know, it's one of the cars I regret getting rid of.
I wish I, you know, he borrowed some money or did something to, you know, get the car fixed. But anyway, we'll get another
one one day. From there, I jumped into a 92
Accord. Yeah, so that was.
A bit of David. Yeah, bit of day.
That was my first like, you know, introduction to Hondas.
Yeah, So accord it. It was the most boring Carlos
Silva, like very boring, but it had a lot of cool features.
It was a 5 speed manual, 4 wheel steer, sunroof leather, like it was everything. It was probably the best one you
could buy from, you know, order from Honda at the time and I got that for like 2 1/2 grand or something ridiculously cheap and yeah, that. That's.
These speculators. What was that?
Sorry though manual 4 wheel steer is a very rare speck in those. Yeah, yeah, it's.
I don't think I've ever seen another one, to be honest.
I'm not that I've been looking. Yeah, Under strain you've got
one. Yeah, lovely everyone.
But the very, very hard to find. A lot of people don't realise
that the Accord came with four wheel steer.
Actually, yeah, that is a very limited limited view.
Nearly 50 brand new. Well, a lot of.
Money as well. That would be almost $100,000
now. Like that.
That's a expensive car. Wonder why you could have bought
for the same money back then? Yeah.
Wasn't allowed. So not sure.
Yes. How do you call it for quite a
long like maybe oht. Well, sorry.
I mean, at the time that would have been my longest investment.
Five to six years old. Yeah, I reckon it was about five
years, 2010 to about 2015. So it may very well.
It was super reliable. You know, I thought like maybe
50 or 60,000 cases on it. And yeah, it was just, it just
kept going and yeah, and the only reason I got rid of it is because I end up buying Volvo 850 Turbo.
OK, cool that that was why I sort of, yeah, because I I I had an extended stint on my P plates, but I'm doing very naughty things and so I I had my peas and so I was like 24 or something. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shout out, sorry I was in.
Yeah. I finally, finally came to the
day where I could buy a turbo car and yeah that's where I landed on our landed on an 850 turbo and yeah, that that was such a hoot. That was great.
It just, it spun wheels all day every day.
Not the front wheels. And you know, yeah, it was just
nobody expected what it could do, like, you know, take it down to Mexico and obviously surprised some people with it.
And yeah, it was, it was such a good, good time.
It's surprising. Makes it that far away when you
think. About it, no, it's only like 1/2
hour. Drive.
Yeah, yeah. So yeah, Volvo, yeah, I got rid
of the. I've sold the court to a a close
friend of mine, Rocco Dillon, who, I don't know, X5 and stuff and he needed daily I thought. Great Daily.
Yeah, perfect car. I think he ended up.
No, unfortunately, I think he had to get rid of it.
Like, I think he had a he told me I was there a Dr Shopper or something happened and then he got into an accident, I think.
And then he, yeah, he said the car got written off and all that stuff. But yeah, so I did try and buy
back from him, but that's how I found out the car wasn't around me. Well, yeah, I was like, damn
man, I missed it. It sounds like it was served
you, really. Well, yeah, yeah, it was.
It was super, yeah. Yeah.
It took me everywhere. And yeah, it was, it was, it was
a great car. I wonder how many they made of
that like that would be such a rare car.
Going on now, yeah. Yeah, I would have thought maybe
maybe hundreds came into the country, so.
Yeah. But haven't seen one for a long
time aside from this one Honda. Yeah.
Yeah, that's yeah, that was. That was definitely a special
one. A friend of mine had a base
Model X, like, you know, automatic one and stuff, and he did a bunch of stuff to put like coil overs in ads and aftermarket wheels. Yeah it's just there's some
really like mid 2010 Honda Honda stuff to it.
Sakana. Yeah, that kind of got me to
like modify it you know found some correlators for it out of a four wheel steer Prelude OHT cool cause same same like control arm widths and all that stuff.
So good. Yeah, that feels the only thing
that fits really. Yeah, I got some like hyper
wheels for it and you know, yeah it looks good in the end.
Yeah, yeah, that was fun. Yeah.
So Volvo, how long did I think I had that for About four years or so. And yeah it was great fun.
I'd it did blow an engine and I had to get another like long block and swap it all out. A mechanic shop down in and did
that for me. And yeah, it was.
Ever since the engine swap though it was just there was missing something like it was either the compression of the engine or it was like that was something there, like it wasn't boosting as much. And yeah I kind of fell out of
love with the car and and it was like chewing through feel like I was going through like this is maybe in the days of a dollar less than $1.50 for 98. So I was showing through about
maybe 90 to 100 bucks a fuel a week could barely getting 300K out of a tank. So it was really.
It was like burning a hole in my pocket.
It's because of the the constant trips to Mexico.
Yeah, that would have to be a part of it, even just driving it. I mean, not that it happened
that often, but I do even just driving it timely, just they just don't feel, yeah, yeah. So the tune that had on our
little guests just it was just over feeling it and I am decided he had a a sensible car for the maybe the first you know just something that I can drive and not touch.
I ended up buying a Skoda Octavia Rs Diesel OK and that that was a really good car as well.
I mean, I I'm really fond memories of every car really.
But the other diesel. Sorry.
The Octavia really. And that one really sort of, you
know, choked me out in the centre and I just drove me to work and back. I reliably I didn't get stuck on
the side of the road. You know, all that stuff and
yeah, that that was awesome. Car had all the, you know
amenities that you could want you know the fast SG box and all that stuff. And yeah, I I kept that for
three or four years. And then I started noticing like
a clunk in the DFSG box, like every now and then it would like sort of lose drive, like on takeoff.
And I thought, well, that's so it's not a great rating into it.
And you know, I I knew GSG were sort of a bit cursed, but I didn't feel, I guess I thought, oh, it's not gonna happen to me.
But it started to happen. So I think it was the clutch
back sign to let go or something.
And I thought, I'm going to, I'm going to pull this off because I got a quote for like a gearbox rebuild or replacement and it was somewhere in the ballpark of like 6 to 8 grammes.
Something. I thought, no, stuff this like I
I'm not I don't want to deal with the big amount of money.
Yeah, big amount of money to, you know, outlay.
Yeah, yeah. You know, that's half the price
of the car, right? At the time so.
But yeah, I did quite a lot of Columbus and be like 60 or 70,000 as well. And yeah, it took care of it,
but it needed, yeah. And I think it was around that
time I bought a Sylvia. So back in 2020 I a friend of
mine just he was sort of you know you know Jamie up to Jamie up to get something you know sort of interesting.
I was initially I was looking at 31 skylines are 30 ones and I missed out on a couple of them and I thought you know maybe it's not meant to be or whatever and it wasn't really looking at Sylvia's at the time and this one came up it was dirt cheap but for a good reason because it was full of rust and you know it it it was very rough on the outside like ginseng.
Nearly every panel looked like it had been sitting in someone's lawn. And you know, the the on the
side of it was just, yeah, it was trying to.
Yeah, yeah, it was very neglected.
And yeah, I got it for pretty cheap at the time.
And even this was when the Soviets did, started going up in price. But yeah, I I got it for quite,
quite a good price at the time. And yeah, just been sort of, you
know, flying into it ever since and just, you know, the driving as much as possible. That was the that was the whole
thing was like, I don't want to just let it sit in the drive in the garage. And I just wanted to.
Yeah, I just want to drive it. I want to do events in it.
And yeah, so I've had that for, I think 4 years now.
Really. Yeah.
Come up to four years, been a great car and yeah, it's like I it was the most stock Sylvia I'd seen as well.
Like, you couldn't really buy one that was, you know, not modified at the time. And yeah, yeah, when it came up,
I was like, yeah, this, this is it.
And. That's gonna say or an Sr.
It's got an Sr factory manual with a sunroof.
Dark green, like jungle green sort of colour, which I think are someone looked it up for me and said there was only, I don't know like less than 400 mile or something.
OK, that's better. Yeah.
So yeah, it's quite a, I don't know.
For me, at least, it's desirable.
Yeah, I like the grain and the, you know, all the all the wish it was a turbo, but you know, maybe we'll get that, get that one day. Yeah, you.
Yeah, we'll get that. So you're gonna be restoring,
you know, the whole body and stuff on that car?
Yeah, yeah. A friend of mine had a panel
shop at the time and thought he was starting out to be a palador. And yeah, we, we just worked on
it, you know, on the weekends or after work.
And yeah, it would just be blocked back parts of it.
And it's had like a partial race price.
So it's hard maybe, Yeah, I'd say about half the panels have been resprayed and the rest of it needs to sort of, I need to either go over it and just, you know, really detail it or yeah, whatever, I can't detail, maybe just rub, you know block back and hit him with a bit of pain. So yeah, and rust repair.
I think most of the rash repair that I've done has been in the around the window sill in the booth, like underneath, like inside the trunk where I don't even know what, like the continuation of the seat pillow underneath.
It was very common. For yeah, there, yeah.
The the, the sills, which under the doors, that's very common for them, yeah, I think the rest of it was actually pretty good.
In Australia has been. I have seen a sticker on the car
like an yeah, are there isn't there an import sticker or like the compliance sticker or something?
And I think it was 2011 when it came into the country.
Yeah. And I think the guy who bought
it just bought it and then just let it sit.
I don't, I'm not sure how much it was driven or you know how much it was used. But I'm glad it wasn't drunk
cause it's only going 128,000 K or something on a on a original poster, which yeah. I was stocked with.
Yeah, yeah. So plan is to just keep doing
things to it. You know I've got a diff sitting
there to go into it and yeah, just you know try and enjoy it and put it into like order. No all across the course.
But my car now staff, yeah, I did a date and Quantum Hills and I was super fun. No, I saw pictures of you going
sideways. Yeah, look, very.
Good. We are not allowed to do that
and Nuggets, unfortunately. But yeah, you know, it was a
slip. Yeah, there's a bit too much.
Exactly. Yeah.
So yeah, just wanted to yeah, yeah, just drive it, enjoy it.
And yeah, same server where it goes.
And I don't really have specific plans for it, you know, but I try, you know, I'm one of those guys that try to do things on the cheap, unfortunately. So I just, I just, you know, do
things as they come up or if it seems like a good deal.
It's a mindset that I want to try to change a little bit.
But yeah, it's it's, it's it's a good bit of power.
Nothing wrong with that, is there Mary doing it on?
The. Absolutely not.
I mean you know my old today is a perfect example of that.
Yeah it was it was good fun but but yeah so you've got that which is, which is I mean you would make good money on that Carly. That's that's.
That's, yeah, I mean, yeah, insure insurance says it's worth X amount and I'm very happy with it because yeah, it's yeah, probably triple the money would say.
I mean I'm not looking to move it on for that sort of money anyway. But you know, if it's worth
that, it's worth that. It's, it's an asset, yeah.
It's money and something in money, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, make sure it's insured
properly. Yeah, yeah.
Have you still got the LCD? That's gone, isn't it?
Has. Gone.
Gone. Gone.
Gone. Yes, Sold.
And the guy bought off. He tried to sell it for more
than double what you paid for it.
Cheers. And then he's eventually brought
it back down to I think it's down to pretty much what he paid for it. And I'm just like, well, try to
make a quick bug off me. I couldn't make that quick buck.
And city that you either you. Or you and use the same photos
as what I had. I was like, you know, I'm not
even, I'm not even. We should have kept it and and
actually gone on the variety bash.
I should have, actually. That would have been cool, yeah.
Yeah. That would be good.
That could actually drive really well.
It's a tank. Right.
It is a tank, right? But it it trans was great,
engine was great, it conditioning was always cold.
They would have ate it up like it was great cargo.
It's Australian, it's made. For yeah, exactly.
I mean, it was like it was. It's leaking like a sieve from
every possible, you know. See.
Popping up like that. Yeah, all those.
Yeah, Every, every, all changes. Like every, every time I was
putting, putting fuel in, I was also putting oil in and and transmission fluid and Palestinian flow.
But yeah, I was like, well, it is what it is.
Just to stop it up. You know what it was?
It was, it was fun. And yeah, it was, it was, it was
a good car that could have been a good, you know, shitbox rally car or something. That would have been a great car
for that. But, but yeah, so, so you've got
the S13 which is still in your current fleet, yeah.
And then you've got a few other, a few little toys which are which are quite interesting. Yeah.
So I think earlier this year after having just dailies that were not really cutting it like in terms of reliability at AA Suzuki grand retire at one point which was an absolute disaster.
I recommend people at all even. I mean look maybe not just one
but yeah I really I really hate it on that one.
Yeah, that was that was a bad. 1.
I bought it from the What's up? Who is it?
The V6 or the four? There was a 4 cylinder and only
after buying it I found out that there like prone to massive failure, like really huge engine failure.
Like I the cockpit driver hating and I wasn't.
I couldn't figure out why it wasn't leaking golden anywhere that I could say at least. Yeah.
And yeah, I just, I brought it to a mechanic down in Glenroy here and sent me some photos like yeah, you got a crack in the engine along the water still though, the water jackets.
And I was like, oh, that's that'll do, that'll do it.
And he's like, yeah, look, these engines, it's the same engine out of a Kizashi 3.4 litre 4 cylinder.
He goes, yeah, look, pretty much in and out with the replacement is going to be about 7 grand. I mean it was a $13,000 car
then. Yeah.
So it was just, yeah, I just popped off the dealer, I, you know, just tried to make back what I could on it and bought an Accord Euro, which was great. Yeah, great, awesome car.
Put some wheels on it, some springs on it.
And yeah, it was just, I just enjoyed that for a few months.
And a friend of mine asked, sorry, we're just talking.
And he said I'd love 11 day to like as a truck, car and stuff.
And I thought, why don't you just buy this like it's being cared for. All it needs right now is just a
power steering pump to be done because it was very cosy.
Yeah. It was really noisy and it was
leaking. And I said, man, just buy this.
Like I'll just sell it to you for high paid for it because, you know, I don't think it's worth much more than that.
Anyway, getting to about 200,000 keys.
But yeah, it was. Yeah.
So we just decided yeah, he'd buy that.
And I just, I when I bit the bullet and bought, I went and bought like them the most new car I could and bought an I30 and 2022 model. And yeah, it's that that has
been awesome for like, it is a yeah, literally, Yeah.
Becky cracking car, Yeah. Yeah, I think, yeah, it's
everything I could ask from from a daily comfortable.
My partner loves it because it's comfortable.
Yeah, like all the other ones I had before that always there's always an issue and yeah, so that's that's the car to hopefully don't get touched in the near future or at least the war until the warranty. Is done.
Yeah, with it. Just enjoying that, you know,
going for drives whenever I can. Me and Mattie did a drive like
quite a while, yeah, but yeah, great, great, great.
Carter just taking to their hills and yeah, have a New Mexico. Mexico obviously thought that
way. Yeah, you should say my
password. How many stamps from the Mexican
in and out? Computers, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
So I think he ends up, yeah, it's a great, great car.
Can't recommend enough. I can't believe that exhaust is
legal in. Those, yes.
It's it's following you in Mexico, chasing you down these hills and the bangs and pops they were and was like, how is this? How did they allow this?
Is something wrong with that? Shouldn't be making that noise?
That's outrageous. I mean, I mean, I I was like,
that's hilariously good, but like, it's unbelievably crazy that the girl was allowed to be to exist.
Yeah. Exactly.
Like, how did it get through emissions?
I mean, I'm sure there's something going on there we'll hear in probably five years, like he was found guilty of emissions cheating or something. Like it's good Volkswagen thing
again. Crackle and pop gate.
That's, yeah. Colour did you get, Chad?
What colour is it? I got a white, like Polar White.
That's a sedan. So it's that real like out.
There. OK.
OK. Yeah, look fantastic.
Yeah. Yeah, it's.
It looks so. Cool.
I feel like people are very divided on the design.
But I love it. I love it.
Yeah. It's like everything about it
might not age. Well.
Sure. I don't know about the lower
spec cars. It it wasn't until I saw it in I
thought, OK, now I get it. Now it works OK.
Yeah, completely agree. I wasn't in that car.
Looks that colour was hot. Yeah, looks good.
Like how that Hyundai can't push the boundaries like the the Ionic 5 talk about. The show many times is probably
the only electric car would actually gotten because I think it looks great. Sitting out there designs like
they really just went for it and it worked with.
Let's not talk about the annex. That's because it's basically
you with that. That's right.
And this too. What's the what's the, what's
the roof on Columbus London Bridge?
Yeah, yeah. It's just there's a few cars
that adopted that. Yeah, and the and the But the
biplane spoiler, I'm telling, been saying for years and no one's listening to me on the show.
The ASU is a trendsetter. Rob.
Rob, you even said it back in the day.
It was one design awards for the interior and I don't know how, but it did And so yeah, there they go.
It's it's still, to this day, making inroads in in in the Australian automotive landscape, OK.
We knew that it would, you know so well did.
You guys know that like what it was like 20 years or something of the AU people did a meet up at?
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
We started off like a Facebook group, like 4 people and everyone joined in and then again like a few hundred cars there people brought. Remember I remember seeing that
on on Facebook with the invites and everything.
It was getting massive. Huge people come from all over
the country to to morning brother.
Yeah, yeah, it was. It was, it was a big thing.
And then the news said, like, all of a sudden, why the hell are all these you Falcons? Legal comedy.
Campbell Field, Yeah. You got it.
Made the news and yeah, a lot of people couldn't come because like the weather was like horrendously bad that day and obviously people want to protect their us because that's what you do. So, so so yeah, that that was a
that was a thing. So I'll be I want to be there
for the 30th. Yeah, that 2030. 2029. 20. 999
was the 18 because the first one started rolling in in 98.
So obviously that'll go. Quickly and will be there, yeah.
Bernie calendars now. So you've got the other thing
incident, which is The Daily, which is a cracking car.
Yeah, there it is sick and you've obviously got the 13, which is, which is sleeping in the garage.
Yeah, most of the time. Most of the time.
And you've also got some other interesting vehicles.
About this time last year, or maybe like September last year.
You know, Scrolling Doom, Scrolling Marketplace or Gumtree as you do come across a territory ago.
The Egg The 2nd Yes, I'm out Chuck Davis.
So I found an egg and I was specifically looking for a manual one because I saw one years ago.
Yeah. Well, that's.
Mad. Honestly, isn't that one of the
reasons I bought that car? Yeah, I was specifically that
one because it was not. There's a lot of autos on the
market. Yeah.
Heaps, yeah. But yeah, manuals are like seem
to be pretty rare. I saw one years ago.
I couldn't afford it at the time and it stuck in my head ever since. And I thought, if I find another
one, I'm just going to bite the bullet and get it.
And yeah, a friend of mine, me and a friend, we went.
I think it was an alternate somewhere and just rocked up to the glass house. And you know, I just started
laying on this sob story and stuff.
Oh, I should also mention I I went, I drive to Aurora with a bunch of friends back in like 2013.
OK, it was it was on a Terrago second generation 2 ago.
It was an ex Terrago well and we had six people in it with all of our bags and the car did not start at once, even in a 5000 kilometres. Unreal, like it was.
Honestly, I didn't really know much about Translate then, but I can see now why everyone says, you know, it's a they just keep running forever. That was big Toyota that later
on. No.
Yeah, have to say so. Yeah.
So yeah, I'll lay down the sob story about, you know, I've been looking for one for years and I just wanted to sort of really my childhood, not long ago, like 6-7 years or something.
But yeah, so the guy was only asking 1500 for it.
And it's alright, It's rough. The body is very rough on the
Terrago, like it's got quite a few Dings.
And you know, the plastic Sacco boards are all like Bully Fighter. That you know you going.
You're very How you going? Yeah.
So yeah, I only picked it up for 1000 bucks, which is an absolute bargain, but it made a lot of work.
And native front shocks, native via full rear brakes like drums and shoes. I dated the the Java states.
We were upset because it was completely collapsed on one side because they're yeah, constant in in and out of the car.
So yeah, buying Glenroy here, just thought it out loud for me.
I just said please fix it. Yeah, just some of it.
I can't do myself and some of it, I just don't have time for it. And I just said just, yeah, just
let me know whatever it is, fix it up.
And yeah, I just want the car on the road and George Dr Enjoy it.
And yeah, so it's all done now. It's on Club Ridge.
I've been enjoying it probably for about a month now.
I could have driven it like 10 days already on the books and.
Have been doing it probably. Yeah, well, so far I've only
ever had one other person. But.
Yeah, the idea is that, yeah, get a bunch of boys in it.
Yeah, no, dude, I, you know, out of Royal.
Car. Very silly car.
The one car actually wanna drive near the Morris is dismantled.
Always. You know, Sort of.
Cool. Cars but the the tragos though.
I remember when I was uh geez under under 18, under 16, under 16 cricket team we we played for for broadband district that the club doesn't exist anymore. But.
And mom she used to work for a place called BRB Motors and they had a they had a first Gen terrago you just poverty park manual which they use is just just you know pick up parts and everything in but but they sell one put all the seats back in it And so those all liveried up with with with the with the workshop and anyway my mom took her car was getting fixed at the time so like I'll just take they called it the kebab and because it was like a you know like a cabin that's so so they just
like the cabin and I was like what is this thing sick it's a manual and you know I was always super excited me being an idiot with cars. We woke up to to to the meet up
point to to go to go to the match and everyone's like you've got like 8 seats one you can put virtually the whole team in the car so so and I mean these are all like boys in the area that that you know they did have a lot of money couldn't get to the match without getting a lift. Someone was like everybody in
anyway we we're playing some some team in a in a more well to do suburb that looks at their faces are all these kids getting out of this Tarago van from the 80s and they're just like.
Ohe look at these guys. Yeah, that's bad.
It was it was a cracking little guy.
It was a it was it was fun. I've got a soft spot for for
Terrago so. There you go.
That's how Bash car. Yes, there we go.
Perfect for perfect for it. It's good to go.
Obviously it's it drives like brand new.
Ohta I wanna drive. It, yeah.
I'm excited to say. Should have bought it about it.
Yeah it's it's it's it is one of the silliest driving experiences I've ever had. I have.
I have a friend of mine, close friend of mine Kieran St Static.
Shout out he he's yeah he drove it and he couldn't stop giggling like it was you know like someone was tickling in the whole time. And it's it's like you can't
help but smile and laugh while you drive because you shouldn't be experiencing what you're experiencing and a van but it feels like you're just driving a regular car.
Almost like it's really strange. They're quite, can't they?
Very, yeah. Yeah.
Surprisingly, they really they they can turn like, yeah.
I mean, they shouldn't. They shouldn't.
There no fish in Terraria which tip, but they're.
Exactly. We gotta water stands and yeah,
I think that that helps with it, just to be a bit more planted.
You know the supercharged runs at the time was Toyotas only mid engined supercharged real drive car that they had on on sale.
Yeah, yeah, that's that's, that's the reason why.
He knew that the AWD 11 and the TCR 10s are over had so much in common. They were designed by the same
people so so there was other sports fan and I'm making.
That up? Yeah.
Have a normal DRY version. They did have an all drive
version. Yeah, the US and maybe Japan, a
lot of just being US, that one. Because we had the game, we did
get mean. Not all wheel drives here.
We did the GPS was all wheel drive in the early ones.
Yeah. Yeah.
Hey, I'm gonna. And there wasn't.
I thought. I think the RV's were 4 wheel
drive. There was a four wheel drive
version. There was an RV limited edition
for awhile. Too.
Yeah. OK.
Yeah. So yeah, it was the getaway.
Just like a sticker pack. Or was that like a?
Yeah. It was like a recreational sort
of thing. I think part of the stick with
them was that they were forward drive annual, I think.
To get away too, and it's not. No, no.
The getaway was just to stick a pack that was CD rear rear air.
That's got rear, right, Yeah. Yeah, yeah, and yeah.
And the and the stickers, basically.
Yeah, I've gotta get those stickers.
Really great, dude. They are very faded.
Little guy. Perfect.
Yeah. Awesome.
Yeah. So that's where I go.
The idea is to just sort of, you know, take it weekend camping or whatever it might be just sleeping the so I've got because you can absolutely better than sleeping it.
Actually, I did that at Jong Arrival.
I I drove it down there and put a mattress in it and slept in.
It was awesome. Perfect.
Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, we could. Campers used them pretty well
and they used a lot of the early imported.
Ones didn't. They, you know, juicy.
Pop ups in them, yeah, yeah. Yeah they they they still get
around like whenever you drive on the like the highways off to Sydney or Canberra or even to Adelaide, you seem you seem pass you like there isn't any still on the road with like a million K on them. And.
They still got. Them right?
That I think it's juicy camp. Juicy campus, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Billion of them are they are
they have a steamers because they're.
Yeah. So they got like the Long front.
Yeah. Donation stuff.
Yeah, if you can't tell him in turn.
See Rob? Yeah, you did it wrong, man.
You should have just bought. You should just bought a
Terrago. Yeah.
Done it all wrong. I really did.
That's off the side of the road because it be ones rolling downs than that. So.
There'd be plenty of spare parts, I'm sure.
Oht mate, it's a. It's a.
You know you'll. Be release.
It won't take six weeks to get an oxygen sensor or a an OXY sensor replaced. That was actually, that was
actually a joke. Is that in your new transit?
Yeah. Oh.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, the first day I had it, the light come on.
OHS. But I normally I could, I could
try and defend forward, but I I can't defend him in that.
say, hey, yeah, you know, like, pick your game up.
Yeah, yeah. Come on, it's not being so
slight. The the very, very cool.
And then you've got one more card.
Believe which is which is your national.
Scale. Yeah.
So me and a couple of nights for a EG Civic sedan, Yeah, back in 2011 I think. And.
They took a long time. Yeah yeah so I was just coming
up three years now. So yeah that bought it
specifically for Nuggets cause it's eligible for the under 1.5
litre and formal drives you know naturally aspirated sort of thing and you know fits the price bracket and all that that they require. And yeah I've I've, I've done
nearly a four years worth of track days in it now which is 6 sessions. I yeah, I needed to make it out
to one of them this year. But apart from that yeah, it's
been great. I've slowly started, you know
putting in a a Sparko, fixed fixed back seat and some coilovers and already came with Hankook RS4.
Great. Time.
Yeah. And no, it's it was, it was
perfect. So the guy before, the guy that
I bought her off, just had her own club region.
He was driving on the weekends. Yeah, there's a bit of a like an
old sort of, well, it wasn't an older guy, but I mean, he was, you know, a guy who was into cars.
But yeah, just wanted something fun for the weekend, Weekend.
And yeah, it's it's great the paint shop, but very clean interior drives great 130 K, thousand K on earth and yes it was a great pick up and it was very cheap.
Yeah, so. That copy or rejected that one.
Right. So 1.5 D 15.
Camping. Wide before no basement.
That's right. Yeah.
OK. We'll go with.
That who's? Going.
Yesterday you said. What was that?
Sorry. And Sudan, you said, didn't you?
Know you did an AGI? Yeah.
So it's got, I mean, you know, who's ever gonna sit in the back seats of those seasons? So small.
But yeah, this is it. And it's got that rigidity of a
four door. And yeah, yeah, I can load it
with everything I need for the track day and drive it and drive back in it. And yeah, it's been, it's been a
great car and I've learned a lot of lot about, you know, driving, driving on the truck with it. And yeah, it's been a great,
great thing to start. Truck driving was yeah, so
recommend everyone get into a nugget and they have some fun.
Well, the guy the guys have actually that I did donations with a few years ago. So it was with the group chat
and we keep sending each other like just just you know 1.5
litre cars. And like we would love to do it
again because it's it was it was it's actually really fun racing parts so good. It's it's awesome and you can be
on these cars and they take it and you drive them home.
Yeah, yeah, that's. The whole idea is to just keep
it cheap and fun. Yeah, time as possible.
Yeah, 100%. Let's see time.
It's a really great category. It's really enjoyed seeing the
updates and this stuff on it, Jack.
I mean, G Jazz is a really popular too, aren't they?
Yeah, they're dominating now like it all used to be about Echo Sporting. Events, yeah.
Yeah, they've gotten to a point where they're a little bit more expensive now, Yeah. And everyone sort of switched
over to Jazzes. Well, and the Jazzes are, yeah,
they're killing it. I mean, they're very fast.
But again, the, the Sports Evos are like in the top, top of, towards the top of the leaderboards.
Yeah, but you know, that could just be driver sort of skill as well at the end of the day. But yeah, I mean, jobs, you can
get into a Jazz for less than two grand.
Amazing. You know, Big block as well.
Yeah, so. Yeah, that was such a good
platform. I I just wonder is such an
opportunity imagine a little roadster in with that with that platform. Does.
Oh. That's right.
That would have. I mean, the, you know, would
have competed really well within MX5.
Yeah. It was.
That would have been a great looking thing.
Yeah I I, I I really like that that that area Jazz I think.
I think they they they just work and they're they're pretty good little car. Remember when we were racing we
we had a Twitter paseo first Gen Paseo.
Yeah, it was, it was good. And the Tivos were just leave us
like they were. They were quick, they were quick
people. They were like, there ain't
nothing I remember, I think if you still got it.
That doesn't compete. Doesn't.
Yeah, yeah, well, SharePoint, she was competing with the Nuggets and it was half caged and stripped and yeah, this thing was flying. Yeah, they tear, yeah.
It's like like fuck, fuck. And they they look.
They look good too. Yeah, but yeah, that that was a
spontaneous. She'd love to get back into
that. It's, it's good.
It's good. It's a good category.
They're just gonna. We do that anyway.
Yeah, the specifically. Like Sorry, no more a Falcons.
No more, No more, No more. No more other cars besides 1.5.
I remember I was writing this guy in in in the GTA VI.
Yeah, my God, he was quick and I couldn't keep up, but he was just leaving me on the streets and like in the corners was following his line and everything Anyway, after accessory, pull into the pits and then he hops out of that Hopseed GT3RS and takes a little track.
I'm like, no wonder why I couldn't keep up with you.
You have the. GT3RS.
Imagine that. So sorry.
Yeah, I'm like, well, I mean a good way to get seat time is, isn't it? Isn't it?
Isn't it? And and give slowish car so you
can get the corners right. And everything, yeah, yeah.
Definitely. So yeah, I was like, well,
that's one way to do it. Yeah.
But anyway, yeah. So last question for you man.
You know, you're, you're you're you're interesting, I'm, I'm out of cars. If you had to buy another car in
the not too distant future, what would you go?
For, yeah, that's another good question.
Well, I mean, we just answered that.
You wanna? You wanna?
We'll drive. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
Yeah, just wheel drive, stop the dragon, obviously it.
I mean, look, if money was no issue and, you know, it was, yeah, I, I we've always been really fond of like Rs Fours, like Audi Rs Fours. But I'd but I'd buy a modern
one. I think that that and that would
replace probably a couple of my cars because it would just do absolutely everything. Yeah, pretty much, yeah.
So have to have one one day. I mean, I just.
Laugh it off of them. Yeah, they're.
Going to work for a guy who had one.
And yeah, it was just such a such a manly stance.
They go prisons. Yeah, really.
I mean, yeah. Look, I don't know.
There's just so many animals, to be honest, that it's really hard to. Do like a cow.
With a sliding guard, don't we? Yeah.
Absolutely. There's actually followed in
three touring tonight, on the way home to and that reminded.
Me of the touring. They've just come out.
Why? I like the very latest.
Are you serious? I think that's still.
Yeah. Sorry, I.
Don't think that's right. Yeah.
But yeah, you're current. Yeah, that's just listen.
Yeah, it was only a couple of months old.
There would be. So you're very sick looking car
in the in the rear. I don't know.
The RS6 used to look real and they still do like really fat and launching. Yeah, yeah.
I mean I'd hate to own one cause I think anything you break, it's like $1,000,000 to fix it. Yeah, well, that's why I went
with if money was no issue like. Yeah, if I could just.
Throw it at somebody and just let them.
Fix it. I'll probably be not driving it.
Yeah. Yeah, it would be a.
Good choice. With an RS3 we had one who got
we got bound and they got written off, but he bought the new one. Like the current one.
They are ridiculously fast car. Yeah, yeah, they are
ridiculously fast, like the heavy, but it's it's it gets to the point where cars have become so fast because they have to make up for the weight of how much they've got.
It's kind of like it's a stalemate, though.
It is, yeah, right. And then just the more power.
Correct. Yeah.
Like I've I mean Robbie you know this with hardly 663 right like it's that is that car has got immense power but it's also what almost too too tunnel. I like the heavy car.
At 1.71.61.691.69, so 1.7 tonne no V8, It's got a lot of safety
features and a lot of stuff, but it doesn't.
Yeah. Yeah, like I've you know like
some of some of the Audi, some of the some of the you know the E Class mercs and stuff they they they way they weigh over 2 tonnes, I'm like. Yeah.
That's ridiculous. Cheese, you know, and I mean
something like electric cars with Teslas and stuff like that.
They whatever, whatever, 2 tonne.
And you know, they're just they've, they've gotta put all these, all this power to the ground because that's the only way you can give. To me, yeah.
So then you have to put me on wheels on it with wider tyres and everything just gets bigger and heavier.
That's just a nonstop loop, yeah, yeah.
It's like going backwards. Yeah.
Yeah, even heavier. Now they were Prince, you have
to go. I have to go.
My friends, thank you for having me on and good to meet you again. Yeah, you too though.
Take care and see you next week. We'll see you soon later.
Take care. Yeah.
Anyway, John, thanks for giving us your eclectic mix of cards and filling us. We have to know that you've been
on before this, first on radio actually, like.
Yeah. There you go.
You should. Talk to it Very easy, it was.
It's actually quite easy when you get talking.
Yeah, I think. I think so too.
Just talk craps. I mean, yeah, you just start
rolling stuff off and just flies, right?
Just talk. Shit and keep going, yeah.
Anyway. Very good.
Well it's not with the concrete dudes are obviously going to be your first conquest but you've listened to the show newest times. You know how it works. 10
questions. Possible bonus questions so you
know you got to buzzing with your name you pretty pretty pretty simple stuff stuff. So you're so where is my don't
even know where I sat. There we go.
OK, alright. Question one Hyundai is facing
class actions overseas and big issues here in.

Rob. What I'll give the other .5 for
what's happening to him. The shattering.
The shedding their exploding You'll take that.
Well, well, well done. Bonus question, which model in
particular is as being being called back?
Well, Rob. The Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is absolutely correct, right one on my brothers, my brothers OHP and and and he's like.
Oh shit. Sorry, they affected in
Australia, Yeah, absolutely, yeah.
Worldwide. Yeah.
The worldwide they're. They're on.
The few people on. I mean, I'm good mates on
account affair. Sorry.
Yeah, yeah. Miss.
Miss. Miss her favourite people and
and yeah so yeah they they were like yeah just driving from bank for like a gunshot. I'm like, yeah, it wouldn't be
fun. No fun.
It would cause, yeah, definitely issues.
Yeah, it's happened to other manufacturers as well, Mercedes, some of their classrooms and I think you have a manufacturers as well. Because I find out why.
Is it just the way it was manufactured?
The issue is they haven't found why first of all and second of all they're saying we don't want anything to do with go through insurance. So that's so that's the reason,
what's the reason why Hyundai is in a?
Bit of strife. Yeah, it's probably a couple of
things, Scotty, the tempering. Sometimes they don't tempered
glass 100%, or if they haven't mounted it properly onto the chassis and there's a bit of flex, it hits a bit of metal, yeah. OK.
Yeah. You know, there's few things
that could cause it. I mean, they look so cool, but
I'd hate to have that like imaginal glass Shard you never you never get out like you'd be you'd be cleaning for.
Years You'd be vacuuming it up for life.
Yeah. Absolutely.
It's like grains of. Sand beyond the sea, Nathan
says. OHS Stop it forever.
The, the back, the back of the XR, my mum's ohe yeah.
The the the, the, the back. Glass got shattered, and I'm
still finding glass. Still.
We're still clear, you know? Yeah.
So yeah, not great. Not great.
Question 2, the new Honda CRV has just been crowned the News Corp Car of the Year for 2023. What variants of that car in
particular has been crowned the Car of the Year?
Yep. The.
Platinum. Incorrect.
Good. Have good effort, but anyway,
that's another. Yeah.
Not not a card that's interested.
OK. Well, the only one I know,
Scott, I'll buzz in. Scott.
CVRS. Rs.
Well, I mean that that is the one that's the OHP in Macon R making Rs. Thought it was just the HRV.
Yeah. So the the the CR vRS which is
the hybrid version. Yeah yeah question 3 Porsche
earlier this year has has had a company do an insult to their iconic 939 elevens um, you know from from the 80s the company called lands and lands and tea kind.
I can't even say the word. Created a car.
Created the 9:30 with what engine they put an engine from?
From something else in this car? Is that like a Subaru boxer or
something? Like that.
So yeah, that'd be smart. But no, it's that's incorrect.
OK? You guys are freaking tell you
what engine it is, but it's a problem Rob.
They wouldn't have done something stupid like an alias.
LS although, although that's a good good choice.
They do do LS swaps in them. They do.
They do quite. It's quite common.
To be a bit squishy, yeah, it would be.
Get one of those and. So with them.
I'm honestly not sure. I wouldn't have a clue.
They're putting an old Formula One engine in.
Oh my God. Yeah.
What The defunct Formula One? Car Yeah, so.
So the end they've actually sourced engines.
So the the bonus question is, is how many will be made.
But I've actually sourced these engines from the 1986 I believe season of Formula One. So they're the V6 turbo engines
that were used in LA and protests and Niki Lauda's cars were, and they actually sourced them and they put them in.
That's not. Right.
So what the bonus question is how many are to be made closest to What give I'll give closest to.
Chad, Chad. 100, OK, we'll put 100 for you.
I'm gonna say 30. 30 says. Recording.
So I'm gonna go 70. Yes.
And 70, they're only making 11 because they didn't have any engines for that. Season.
OK, so. Scotty, you get the chocolates
you're closest too, but imagine them.
A hundred of them. Oh.
Special then, right? Yeah.
Correct, but eleven, I mean once for the owner of the company you always like, well myself and. The other.
Yeah, pretty much. I hope we get to see one at the
Goodwood Festival. That'll be good.
I wanna hear it. Sure.
It's there's one that it's online, it's been done and it looks nuts. So it's cold.
It's cold. The Land Lanzante like V6, does
it take away a which has got like a Cosworth?
Yeah yeah. So pretty nice.
I'll have to show you guys off the show.
It's it's pretty crazy question 4 Finland said a world record recently with 687 Teslas simultaneously playing a light show using their light show feature.
What song were they all playing this to?
Rob. Rob.
I'm just going to guess because it's close to Christmas Jingle Bells. Jingle Bells is a good guess,
but it's incorrect. So they're they're they're
broken record. I mean, I don't know who said
they're good anyway, but they've they've they've got the news Disney World record of 687 Teslas playing a song simultaneously using the light through.
What song was it? Chad, Chad.
Exactly. I can imagine that the doors
like going up and down or doing the thing through the.
YMCA yeah you know that should be a thing but it's not unfortunately I would you know you have a point for that that was that was that was good. OK, that Scotty up to you.
I'm just singing something classical, maybe like Mozart.
Mozart Incorrect. It's the most meme song of all
time. Darude.
Sandstorm they are. They are.
Why I think there is Sands though.
So yeah, if you guys it was, it was quite funny.
Question five What was the difference between the HSV Avalanche and the HSV Avalanche? XUV Scott, Scott.
Wasn't one of them forward drive the other ones not?
Incorrect. Ah.
IS16 cylinder and 1:00 and 8:00. Incorrect.
Correct. Hmm.
I'll just Was one naturally aspirated and the other one charged or something? So that they were all natural.
One was the the waggon was it was a waggon version which was based on the adventurer, and the crewman was the exudate which was the the you based one. OK.
Question 6 The original mushroom expired in 1993 for 1.8 litre
Top spec model was $38,000 Australian approximately.
Today. How much would that be?
So I I freaked out when I found out how much this car was back there doing. We'll do closest to Chad.
I'm gonna say. 50. 5055 K says Chad Scott Scott. 86. 86 cases,
Scotty and Rob. Odd sitting around about the
65K. 65K Scotty, almost all the money, $84,000 that would be it
would be would be in today's money.
That is what I found out. I was like, Oh my God, like
that's a lot of money for an expired bonus question in the same year. If Shelly was still selling the
RX7, which was the FD generation, how much was it in 1993 pricing? Chad.
Chad, I'll be closer to again. Hello.
Showing those, yeah. In today's.
One in back there, back then, yeah. 6560. 5 Yes.
I am going to say 80. Broke.
I have no idea, so I'll say about 58 K. 58 K answer is
$73,000. Wow.
So Scotty, you get it, You get it again, mate.
What on? Just just just get it.
Getting in, getting those those close to question service, the Volvo C30 from 2006 to 2013 was said to have its had its hatch, you know the hatches on the back and was made to look like what other Volvos from from history. Chad Pay 18. 100 P 1800, yes, I
will give you one point for that Chad.
Also there was another one where there was 2 Volvo, yeah.
I think that might actually be the 18. 100, yeah, but now it
was a party. 100 ESPN. But it was the other.
Something else was a bit newer than the in the 18. 100 I know
Chad. Chad. 480. 480 the frog Yeah, I
kind of like. That it's such a weird looking
car. We're looking.
Yeah, it's great. Question 8/20/23 marks the 25th
anniversary of which iconic Audi sports car?
Chad. Chad, the Quattro Sport.
Incorrect has got control systems though could could, could have been had with control system.
What year was that again? Sorry. 2023 marks 25 years of an
out sports car. I think 25 years like the 80s,
but it's like it's the 90s, late 90s.
There was weird. Got.
Scott. The S4.
S4 is incorrect. I was thinking this line.
Was there an S3? There was an S3, but that's
incorrect. It was the Audi TT.
Ohk OK. Trouble is now 25 years old.
Hmm. Score check gentleman.
So currently Rob onto Chad 2.5 and Scott, He's currently
leading on four Question 9. The Hyundai Tiburon got its name

Not incorrect. That's a good guess.
That's a good guess. Sorry.
No, I got nothing. Was shock.
They named it after a shock. Yeah.
This, this last question is from Steph, who actually asked this question. She's like pink cars are very
rare in Australia. How many do you guys reckon are
on sale on car sales right now as we speak?
There's not really so many pink cars, so.
So we're going all makes and models models.
Pink, pink. Yeah, correct.
Closest to. Scott. 10. 10. 50 because one
brand that makes a lot of them. Which one?

Tip of the week. Sorry, have you been doing much
golfing? I have had maybe three or four
games in my whole life. Have you been taking Scottish
tips? I have been listening.
Gripping the. Shaft.
Yes, I've been gripping the shaft.
I've been cleaning my yeah, yeah, what else off the top of my head. But yeah, yeah, you know, there.
I think they're also good tips for just life in general.
Well, since he's gotten good, listeners don't actually pay attention to to go to the lake. So there was developed the meme
of Lee Cabela's putting challenge.
Have you seen an episode of Simpsons?
Yeah. And they put instead of saying,
oh that's in the in the car park, you gotta grip your shaft.
Put on the on the basement. Frame That was great.
I was like that. Scotty, Scotty, Scotty does it
again. So Scotty got him the week.
Talking about cleaning golf balls, another important thing to clean is your clubs, especially your irons in those grooves, makes a massive difference.
There's been a few YouTube clips on that where they've hit the ball when it's dirty and clogged up and when they've cleaned it.
Massive difference with spin and everything, so make sure you just get just your normal golf. Take just the tip and justice.
Clean it out. Get those grooves back big.
Difference. Big difference.
You heard it first. Thanks.
For thank you what you're saying?
Yeah. A lot listen as well.
Yeah. Rob's Fabrication, Firefighting,
Burglary, Alarm systems, Electricals.
What else? What else would you do?
The gardening van builds van life.
Van Life. You know.
Transit engine lights. Now, now.
Ranger rocks, right? Man with a van, he's easy going
sale boy. Rob there.
Have you got anyone your plug or anything you wanna plug?
