Well, while we're away from Maddie, let's start with some car updates. Scotty, can you go first,

please? Oh, me first.

I don't have car updates. The only thing I've got is I

went to the air show on Saturday.

Oh, OK, the air update. Yeah.

So that's more of an air update on that one.

All right, Well, we'll take an air update.

So there was that unfortunate accident that happened on Friday from the from the air show. So that was delayed a bit.

Yeah. So that pushed onto onto

Saturday as well. So we didn't get planes up until

or. I reckon it was about 1:45

probably, I think it was. Really.

In the afternoon. Jeez, not so long ago.

Yeah, it wasn't until the afternoon, so.

I was pretty serious, so. Yeah, they were saying that they

had to keep, you know, making sure that it's all investigated properly and things like that. I'd probably say the let down

was just the communication about everything wasn't the best.

The commentators weren't that great either that you could hear. But as soon as that started, I

mean the F16 went straight up and then straight after that was some F30 fives F eighteens going up.

And the whole Royal Australian Air Force display that they did, which went for like, I reckon like a good 4050 minutes was really good the way they set up. And they did like a whole whole

scenario of the jet fighters going up.

So he had two F 30 fives going up and then 2F eighteens.

They were circling around while AI, can't remember what plane it was that came in and landed and troops came out.

So they're kind of doing what they do if they're taking over an airstrip. Yeah, well, was it a like AC17

or something or a? It was a it was a small one at

1st and that one took off and then it was the C130 came in.

Yeah, well, big boy and. Landed and there was more troops

in that one showing what they do and then that one took off and then it was the big globe master came in and landed.

Yeah, awesome. And all of those planes like for

something so massive, they stop on a dime.

Really. That's.

Crazy, yeah. It stopped so fast on the runway

and then in the same spot where they stopped, they just took off again. Didn't have to taxi back or

anything, just banged straight back up in the air again.

So that was that was really impressive.

I was so GED up ready for the F22 but it got cancelled.

So yeah, I wish I kind of went on a Sunday instead.

That was the main. That was probably the main thing

I was really hyped for was the F22, but Oh well, can't win them all. I'd advise if anyone goes in two

years, just public transport. Do not drive in.

Oh my God, we took public transport.

So we went from one train station that took us to Lara and then from there just the shuttle bus and there's not, there's tonnes of shuttle buses like. OK.

You've got six there waiting. You jump on there and you see

another 6 coming straight behind.

It's just non stop. You won't kind of miss.

Yeah. And didn't even have to wait for

being. It was much better than was 2

the 1-2 years ago I'm. Not sure this is, I hadn't been

since I was maybe still in primary school, primary school.

So I haven't been in a long, long time.

So I'm not sure about what the other one was like 2 years ago.

The one before that I heard was pretty good.

That's some the black they call the Black Eagles.

I think they're fifteens. A group of them were flying

around, so that was meant to be pretty good.

But yeah, there's definitely room for quite a bit of improvements. I think the Jetstar planes

landing all the time was a little bit annoying, like oh planes coming in, it's just Jetstar.

Like your cheap bastards couldn't go to, you know, Melbourne Airport. Yeah, that would be a nightmare

for them. Imagine landing during the air

show, then you're trying to get out that.

Would suck at. How?

How much were the tickets? For general admission was $98.

OK. Was it much to look at on the

ground, like displays and stuff? Pardon.

There was quite a bit. I think what lacked what I think

because of the schedule, it made it hard for you to actually see quite a bit and go on board some of the planes because the lines were just massive because there was nothing for people to look at. So it was the thing you could

do. So you know, lines to get onto

the massive, the big globe master and that's if you want to top on that one, It was a huge line, like ridiculously long for the kids. They had passports and you'd go

to certain squadrons and that and you'd get it stamped.

That's cool. And you collect a certain amount

of stamps, you can go and trade it in for like Air Force, Air Force souvenirs and things like that.

That was pretty cool. Scotty was pushing all the kids

out of the way. He's like, get it?

Clean. Yeah, I.

Have my passport. I did have my passport and they

also had where you go around and collect badges of the planes too. I think there was about 3-6.

It was probably about 8 or 9 badges to collect.

They go around and try and find. Luckily I had my nephew there as

well because there were some of them where they must have been running out and they're like the badges.

The pins are for kids only. No, I've got to complete my set.

Which I did. I thought I got.

Around I got around and I've got to complete my set.

Good thing for you I'm also Charles.

I am a child of good. Like, I understand they're like,

oh, we didn't want to disappoint the kids, but I'm like, what about me? I can't go around with an

incomplete set. What the hell?

You just, you just get, yeah, the kid that's finished them all and they'd be like, oh, give us a look.

Trust no one, kid. Because my nephew and brother

came along too and he was collecting the collecting the pins as well and the stamps. So he he got his at one point

and then walked around and I said, here's my password with that. And he didn't really know what

was going on. He lines up and I'm standing

right behind him and he gets it stamped and then I go, oh, don't forget to grab your PIN too, your PIN, your PIN.

I kept talking before he goes, oh, but I already got it.

So I just kept like interrupting.

I want to take him to Legoland and not not for him, for me.

I'm going to use him as my excuse to go there and and do all the fun related Lego things that I wasn't allowed to do when I was. There, how good Mary can I do

all. Well, after this one more, we

couldn't find it anywhere. I was like, no, I'm going

around, you stay where you are and I'm going to run around and try and find it. So I eventually did.

It was a little bit hidden, but I found it.

Excellent. I was like, yes, I've been

looking around everywhere for my nephew for these badges and I just grabbed 2, but they were fine with it.

They must have still had a decent, a decent collection or something. But yeah, so that was, that was

funny trying to run around and grab all those ones.

Got top on some good big helicopters and in the back of some of the planes you try and get as close as you can with the American jets. But I remember, I remember it

was the same when I was younger too.

They're always further away, You know, we got our F eighteens and everything up really close, like so close that I could almost reach over and touch them. The American ones they had the

F22 and the F16 like 2F20 twos and 2F sixteens, so their fighter jets were still pretty far away from as close as we could get. So they keep their distance with

those ones only get too close but.

You had, but you had a kid, Scotty.

You just take the kill to it. Like you, you, you.

Just go under the ropes. Or you do what those people did

at the Formula One, just just they see how far we can go with the high vis and they. Yeah.

Just pretend I feel like that might be a, a, you know, a, a national security issue at that stage.

Well, I do if you do it at the air show.

Right, if you can get away and get get that done in the air show, then hats off to you. All those military people.

There's police walking around, There's federal police around.

Yeah, if you're able to, then you you should be a spy or yourself. James Bond.

The funny thing was right, they a lot of people were kind of complaining about prices when it came to tickets, parking and food. The only thing going through my

mind was I don't think they've ever been to a Grand Prix before. Yeah.

Yeah. So like this, when I was getting

food, I was like, yeah, this is actually reasonable price.

This one's not too bad. You know, I'm getting a full,

full sausage, bun, lettuce, tomato, everything in there and stuff like that, and a side of chips.

And it was like 25 bucks. I was like, all right, good

price, but everyone's up. The price of F1.

The whinge about tickets being expensive I was like general admission is over 100 bucks now for Formula One so no this is cheap and I think parking was a bit expensive $60.00.

Oh, that's that's a lot of money. $60.00 and it took some

people two hours just close to the parking lot like not because freeway or anything. Wow.

In the parking spot. And you have to park there

because there's nothing else around it, is there?

There was a $60.00 parking area and a $30 parking area.

Both of them took people like 2 hours and 2 hours to get out as well. I wouldn't want to park in the

$30 one. It's still a bit of a hike.

It looked like a probably a good 1520 minute walk with all your stuff and it was a dirt field. And what I mean by dirt, I mean,

we got there, we're driving on the bus and some cars have only just got just got there and pulled in the parking spot and it looked like they've been sitting there for days.

There was that much dust and dirt on them like.

I think, I think the the crappy parking lot is the Avalon Raceway. They use the Avalon Raceway to

park up because I did that two years ago.

I made the mistake of driving and yeah it took me like 2 hours to get there and find the spot and yeah ended up parking at that Yeah the dirt spot, which was the Avalon it.

Was just a a. Raceway Area.

Dust Bowl. And then when leaving all the

cars, you couldn't even see the parking lot.

It was just dust. The people with the traffic,

traffic management stuff had masks on.

That's how bad it was. It was.

They would they would have got their danger money and they would have got their hazardous material money with the, with the, the, the dust. You know so.

Yeah, you've on it. They.

Would they would have cleaned up?

Yeah. And that was, yeah, that was,

that was it. No car stuff, just good old

aeroplane stuff. That's got an engine.

It's it's worthy. And or the sounds forgot how

great it is. Yeah.

Jet fighter flying over full speed.

You feel it in your chest. Can you do you hear them break

the sound barrier as well or or are they not going that fast?

No, I don't think they do supersonic flights.

OK. They still go pretty darn quick,

but yeah, not that fast. I was the first Grand Prix in

Adelaide when in the the first year the I think they were, were the F eighteens there back then or would they have been Miranda the eighteens? Have been around for quite a

while. Yeah, it could have been an F18.

Anyway, one came across without any warning, like sort of thing, and it was going pretty jolly quick.

And like everybody, you know, half a million people ducked when this thing went across, which was absolutely incredible.

And then there were so many complaints and the hospitals were up in arms because, you know, there were people almost having heart attacks and all that thing.

And because it was so low, it was well, it was below the height of some of the buildings, you know, in the in the city.

Lord. It was, it was absolutely crazy.

And yeah, the next year we're, we, we were back there and they, they kept, you know, any minute now, you know, within that, we've been told that within 10 minutes, you know, the, the F18 will be flying. And they just fell over

themselves explaining that it was coming and it came over at about half the speed. But the first year, yeah, oh,

let's this will be fun. Let's do this.

And it, yeah, backfired big time on them.

They did that with the the wall of fire.

OK, so they constantly just kept saying make sure you go to your plugs in, it's gonna be really loud, make sure you're prepared, blah, blah, blah. And it kept getting pushed back

further and further. So I started it at 12:30 it

starts and it's 12:45, then 1:00, 1/15, 1:30 and they're like any second now. So you know, 1:30 Will all

they've told us, we'll give you a countdown, should be a countdown soon. We'll let you know.

And then they're they're crapping on and all of a sudden just boom and it just puts all up.

No one was ready for it. No one had their phones up to

enjoy and it went like OK cool that.

Was it? Everyone had their phones out.

That was amazing. They were like what?

No one was ready. For it.

Just hurry up and put out the fire and get the F16 up will ya?

Because I'm looking over and I can see it's ready to taxi out.

Just like getting in the air, God damn it.

Did the guy die in the accident or he survived OK?

That's incredible it. Was an insane crash so.

I had a call today to say the Civic's ready.

It's got 2 new rear wheel cylinders and all the unfortunately it had leaked inside the inside the drum.

So they've cleaned all the brakes.

They said the brakes are fine, you know, got plenty of meat on them and stuff. So that's ready to go and pick

up. What else have I done?

I've driven 1-2 driven the two that are currently on the property. Actually with the Civic at a

workshop being repaired. It's been so much fun.

I've got so much space in the garage to, oh, I might open this drawer and see what's in that drawer.

Oh, I forgot I had that, You know, because normally when it's full of cars, you can just can't, can't get the, the cup of doors open as easily. So I've been enjoying that.

But it look it, it will be filled up again very quick, smart. I went to, I called in on, we

did a big clean up. The car club has a a 40 foot

container of spare parts down, down in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. And we've been slowly drowning

in more of us members have been really generous.

The whole idea of it, I think I've mentioned before, is that if you've got bits and pieces lying around that you're not using or you don't want anymore, you can donate them to the club.

And then any other club members can come down and rustle, rummage through them and make a donation and take whatever they like sort of thing. So it works really well.

There's some really interesting bits and pieces and we were lucky enough to score a lot of stuff from Honda Australia when they moved out of Telamerik, where they'd been for about 30 years. But we were literally pretty

much drowning in there. So we hired a skip on the

weekend and we had a big, I won't say throw out.

We had a big restructure. We had a restructuring day and

it was meant to take up all weekend, but we actually got a dial on Saturday. So I had some time on the

Sunday. So I ordered.

Bella was on not far from home, which is the Fiat Car Club concourse up at Wesley College in Glen Waverley.

That was really good. Met caught up, Met caught up

with some mates there, some fabulous cars on display and everything from lovely classic old Ferraris to, you know, however many options and colours of the original Feed 500 you could imagine. So yeah, it was really good from

the both ends of the spectrum. That was a g'day there was lots

of cast stuff on again over the weekend and there's more coming up this weekend too. So to busy time.

The weather's been great, you know, being a sort of fairly stable autumn and there's lots to see, lots to get out and do.

I'm hoping to get down to Geelong on Friday because we're staying in Geelong, sorry, Sunday, and we're staying in Geelong Sunday night. So with a bit of like, I'll be

able to swing past and have a look at what's going on down there too. Sounds good.

That'd be for all four day, I'm assuming?

on going? I want to go.

Yeah, yeah, I'll, I'll make my, I'll make my way down there if I've got the time. Is here and I just the only

other car related thing and I don't know I I might come across this might be a bit strange. I don't know if anybody else has

done it. I yesterday I was out for a walk

and I saw this car in the distance and I thought oh, that looks for me yeah and I got up to it and it was a it was but what the silhouette of a TRTS sort of Magna station waggon, which is you know pretty for me to determine there but it was left hand drive and it was it was had a Sigma gland badge on it obviously, you know Euro spec 1 and it was manual.

I grabbed the phone and I took all these photos and then today I I remembered oh, let's get look at those photos and of course looked in my phone. There were no photos in my

phone. I had totally dreamt it

overnight. I it was so real.

I I literally went to my phone and opened it up to have a look at these photos because I just couldn't believe I'd seen it and quite rightly I hadn't old thing, but it was.

Have you ever had that any car related dreams that are just so specific? Like I can remember ark

straight. It was just parked casually.

Gilsmist were turned on on the thing.

It was the detail in this dream just absolutely snuck up and hit me on the back of the head. I couldn't believe it.

Oh yeah. That's incredible to have that

detail of a dream. It was.

I couldn't believe this Jelly thing.

It was incredible. But.

Was it a three litre or was it a 2.6?

Was it 3 litre? Okay, there you go.

It's in the in terms of spec, because obviously you know, the the Sigma Gallant was was slightly different in terms of well naming specs. What would you equate it to as

an Australian delivered car? Well, that for there was a very

limited edition KR Verada Touring, which was a Euro spec, had the roof rails on the, the sort of the rent along the line of the roof and had the headlight wipers on the, on the bumpers and the sort of fed in, I think the bumpers were colour coded from with the euro ones. But yeah, it was, it was just

surreal. It was just nuts.

It was so vivid. And I thought, oh, oh, now I

must get those. I must send them to Andrew and,

and all. And then I looked at my phone.

I thought, you're a complete idiot.

It did remind me too. I once had a dream that I was

driving the Scamp and, and the tyre pressures were wrong because it was riding differently and I was really ticked off because whoever had been driving at last hadn't, hadn't checked the tyre pressures.

And of course that was another dream.

But you know the detail. It just freaked me out that it

was like so. You wake up and check the tyre

pressures. Someone's creeping into my

garage at night and adjusting the tyre pressure.

I was also pretty dry in terms of cars.

I did have it because we sort of talked about the air show.

I went to a wrestling event on Friday night, World Series Wrestling. Oh yeah.

This time I promised not to get cranked because, you know, I was a bit of a menace last time because I know I had to work on Saturday. I was starting at six on a

Saturday. So I thought I'll keep it easy.

Keep it. Easy.

Yeah, I. Didn't get as cranked as last

time but we did. We did have a few.

We ended up going for dinner and the place had like these really cool cocktails. It was happy hour, $15 cocktail.

Next thing you know, I'm 4IN. You know, because I'd have a

beer as well with the dinner and, you know, so you know, we had a few drinks. I was less of a menace than I

usually am, but we got a couple of chance going.

One was we, I feel like we bullied A referee off the stage because the referees, there were two referees.

They're going back and forth. One of them had a really thin

stash. Didn't look very good.

So we just like shave that stash ref and eventually that became a chant. And that ref never came back

after the match. So, you know, we would have

laughed if he came back and then it was shaded.

Yeah, that would be pretty good. But overall pretty good event.

I've been going to MCW for the last year in a bit.

Yeah, I made every event. Damn good times.

not if you throw kids in there. We had a tough time.

You know, I should have sat shotgun, but I didn't decide to get were. You in the third.

friend Nathan were in the back and knees were basically just like, you know, kind of like that to fit.

If you put your knee straight, you're going to fit.

So, you know, don't get a clue, guy, unless you want just kids in the back. If you actually want to do maxi

taxi work, get a damn van, please.

That's my cartel top tip. If you're an Uber and do seven

seats, do a van. They're half asset.

I think they send you whatever as long as it technically will see what you require. And because I think we had six,

we had was a six, you had 6 going to the Viet venue and seven coming back. So when we had 7 coming back, we

got a actual Max taxi so everyone was a bit more comfortable. But on the way there, because it

was six of us, I guess the Kluger fit the bill and it did not. You know, we weren't very happy.

Yeah, it was a it was a semi private taxi booking service for those who are not in the know once again.

Does that work? Some insider information.

Basically a bunch of cabbies will will get together and they'll start their own little conglomerate.

And what they're trying to do is get customers to take their card rather than, you know, call 13 cabs and say, give me a call if you need to pick up and I'll sense on your way.

So you, they kind of cut 13 cabs out of the equation in a way.

So you say, hey, I need to pick up from, you know, something, something Jacana. And it was like, all right,

we'll send somebody in your way in 10 minutes.

And basically one of their associates, I'm not going to say cousins, but it's all a chance. Cousins are involved, you know,

taxiing frequently as a family business.

Take it from me, I know even though we did nothing in taxis in my family, but still we knew many a family that was all about it. So in someone, one of their

associates will come pick you up if they don't personally come pick you up. And that way they kind of you,

you basically hold customers in a way, which is kind of cool.

But it's also like you getting the best car available.

Probably not the the best part as we got out of wrestling.

What sort of does it count? Kensington, I think Kensington,

yeah. So it's like a really relative

in Kensington. Yeah, yeah, relatively kind of a

lot of people got out. There'd be a big search on I

guess calls. We texted our guy and he sent a

car within 10 minutes. So you know, it's a bit of a

win. As a customer, you know, you get

a ride pretty quickly. You don't feel as good when you

get home and you know for what, 20 minute ride you pay $90.00 I

think it was, but we split between seven of us so I wasn't that bad. How's my car experience the

weekend? Very good.

See. Yeah, I had a lot of them this

week. And we can.

Get a new free car or something. I did, I didn't, but I got

organised these belt mouldings for, for the laser because I'm slowly tidying it up, as you know, because I'm taking off the road in January or December, Jan to get it, you know, ready for its club plate next year. So I got the, I got these second

hand bolt mouldings that the robbers were still good on them and the, and they, they went chipped or broke and all the damaged and the ones in the laser are just just 20 something years outside. They're, they're pretty cooked.

So I looked at it and I had this trim paint and I, I sanded them all back and, you know, got them all ready and, and nice to go.

And then I then I realised I didn't have enough paint in my, in my, you know, in the gun. So I was like, that's fine.

I'll, I'll in the can, Sorry. So I went and bought, I went and

bought another one, but then we don't sell that one at super cheap anymore in particular. So I was having a look at it and

all the reviews were like, get this, this replaces the, the duplicate colour trim and bumper paint.

And I was like, OK, great, cool. So I thought it was a direct

replacement little dinner. It's a, it's a textured 1.

When it dries, it becomes textured.

So I painted all four because like they're quite, you know, they're quite thin and small. So I'm, well, I'm like, oh,

yeah, it's a little bit wet. So like, you know, I'll give it

some time. And I'm like, it's not really

doing, It's not changing from being wet and textured.

And then I read on the can at the bottom is a textured finish.

I'm like, of course it is. So I had to send them all back.

My question was going to be did you use whatever you had on the can 1st and you did one and then the other ones you finished with the text? Week you.

Had a mix. I tried and I was like there

just wasn't enough in the one cans.

I was like that's fine I'll deal with the other can.

So I went super cheap bought this can.

The reviews lie online so it does.

them next to the car and I'm like, now the, the, the moulds for the, for the wind, for the, for the back, you know, three quarter, we know nowhere near as good.

So I'll have to, I'll have to mask them up and, you know, paint them before I put them back on the car and that'll, that'll make it all look nice and and good.

So, so I did that, gave the Forester a good, well, not a good clean, but like a decent clean.

So while she's done that, I gave her a car a bit of a bit of a spook. And so she'll have a nice car to

return to. But I think that's pretty much

So David was mentioning earlier about, you know, when I asked him what what spec this this Sigma gland would would have been in his in his dream. I want to ask you with your cars

that you own now, for example, like Chad, you've got a Sylvia is yours AK or AQQQ? OK, So like, you know, that's

the Q spec. And I want to ask you with the

cars that you own, what would be your dream spec of that car or if you have it already? And what like things would you

have gotten from the factory? You know, as like if you would

have known some of the factory options with it?

Because like I was thinking about this the other day and the guy that I that that bought my Typhoon originally put no options on it at all except for floor mats.

And the reason why he did that is because he would have hit luxury car tax and he was too cheap because he's like, I'm not paying luxury car tax. On a on a Ford.

True story. So it's.

Incredible. Yeah, anyway, that's why it

quite literally came with not a single, not a single box ticked.

And the only, the only box was ticked was the FPV formats and that was it. So I've been over the years

getting all the, you know, the bits and pieces and putting it together. I was thinking, what would be my

dream spec if I was to go in back in 2004 to a showroom and and order a brand new F6 typhoon, what would I get?

And, and I was thinking about like this would make a really good topic when when we're on on the show.

So I want to leave you in your capable hands.

My dream pick typhoons. As soon as I've I've mentioned

it already, I would have, I would have just went to town because, you know, there wasn't really much you could do to it.

So you know, I would have, but you could have, you could option for the, for the four front and rear Brembos, which mine doesn't have. You could have optioned it with

the like with an optional sunroof like it's an aftermarket when it's not a factory fit. I would have optioned it with

the Momo steering wheel, the Momo gear knob, the factory factory now because factory was like a 5 grand option back then.

Which Can you believe factory now was 5 grand back then.

Yeah. And a lot.

Of a lot of money. Yeah, correct.

But in like when I added it up and even this is pricing back then. So like the Brembo's were A5

grand option back then and then you you add that and then you add five grand, that's $10,000 you know for NAV and and sort of brakes on that on that car. So that takes the $58,000

Typhoon to $68,000 plus your maths are just 250 bucks.

Yeah, plus your, your rubber boot mat.

What's it called? The the the baggage bag in the

really cool to have the Brembo's to have, you know, all those, those little bits and bases. Now, now to be fair, I've got a

lot of those bits on the car now.

I've even got the factory stand up in the car, believe it or not, but obviously I didn't pay the five grand for it.

You know, I I found out another way to do it.

So what would be your dream specs, gentleman with the cars that you own and you know, what options would you have taken on in the in the interim if you were ticket boxes at the the dealership? Now we know like BMW stuff, we

got like the technology pack and this pack and that pack.

But you know, for some cars, like for example, like my Typhoon, it was, it was a Typhoon and you only got remember brakes like these were your factory, your factory options and the rest were kind of really, you know, get dealer fit. So yeah, it's interesting to see

what you guys would say with your certain cars.

So we'll start with Scotty. Me, I think I kind of lucked out

with the blade actually, because it quite a lot of the boxes got the nice floor mats. They're nice and thick on the

door seals that lights up and says blade.

That was an option. He got the TRD starter button,

the TRD shifter. He went with the the kind of

carpeted cloth boot mat, which I probably would have gone for the more rubber 1 instead. Is that the moment for me to

look like I got a towel? I lay down a towel over the top

of it. To look after.

It Yeah. Which Ash just thinks what an

idiot because you've got this map that's meant to protect the underneath, but I'm protecting that.

I'm protecting 2 things. You're not an idiot.

They don't understand. They don't understand, Scotty,

I'm I'm a mats on Mets guy. Like you have your mats.

I mean, you have your mats that that you don't care about on top of those that to to protect them, Yeah.

No. Protect in terms of specs, so

blade master G that's that's your top spec isn't.

It that's the top, yeah. So I can't go any higher when it

comes to those specs. But the one thing that I wish it

had and they ticked because it became an option in the Series 2, was the the cruise control, the adaptive radar cruise control. Why was it adaptive on that?

Yeah, it was radar cruise. That's cool, though.

Series One came with it just all stock.

But the Series 2, to kind of keep prices down a bit, it became an option and majority of people didn't take it because I assume it must have been very expensive.

I mean to have their radar cruise control would have been freaking cool. That's probably the only thing

that I wish I wish it had and that's probably what I would have ticked myself originally it came with the remote remote start as well, but that seems to be not connected or something or I just don't know how to use it. I think it might have had a

different remote, but I don't have that remote, so I'm unsure on that one. Yeah, that that was it because

thanks to Mr. David who had the brochure for me, I could just

like to see all the all the options that it came with.

Now 31 Scotty. 31 yeah, mine's the mid range one, which I think

most people, most people got was the GGGXE.

That seems to be the most common one that I see around everywhere and when they're on sale there tends to be that one.

TI was the top top spec for Australia.

So there was there was this clarify, there was exec, there was GXE and there was TI Yeah. And then so it was silhouette

next to TI or was that more GXE plus like you know, performance?

It was probably more GXE, plus it's more of the sporty side of.

Things and then obviously what would then go to to GTS and stuff, but we're not talking about those.

No, they're just like super special.

They're like a side thing, the way I see those ones.

Yeah. So the TI came with some pretty

comfy looking seats. No leather or vinyl or anything

like that in them, just cloth. Velour.

The The funny thing is about those seats, even when they were new, they looked like they were well worn.

The combined the way it was, it was like a big, it was like a big cushion. Yeah.

And they already look like that. You know, some very large people

have already sat in them for a very long time, but they're brand new, so. They've got nice 15 inch alloys

on them too. Yes, yes they do.

They're they're sort after now those the front grille and the bonnet was actually different in the team That was all different.

Electric windows would have been pretty good to have.

I think it might have even had central locking too.

Could you could you have gotten electric windows on the GXE or that would you have to get you have to go TI for that?

Yeah, I'm not quite sure, not 100% sure.

I'd have to look a little bit more into that one if it was an option or not. Like a Power Pack they did have.

Yeah, they had a Power Pack option on the earlier Bluebirds.

So I'm guessing, I'm guessing you you could have probably by then it will probably would have been an option.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think the TI was the only

one that came with the alloys. Everyone else was the all

hubcaps, well, that one. So even GXE, I mean, for all I

know that might have even been an option as well.

If I was to probably go for a 31, I would have gone the TI I think because I liked I liked the front more because it was more of the Japanese style front.

Yeah, it was more of the Japanese style front grill and and bonnet that went with it. It's.

Got those like inner lights as well doesn't it in the grill?

No, it was more of the the little front grill bit was like the honeycomb. Honeycomb design.

Oh. OK.

All right, So what year is your 3189?

89. So you're in a dealership in 89,

walked in and you look at Skylands.

Would you have went TI straight away straight away to TI or would you have thought about it and see see how you could have optioned up your your GXE? Yeah, I guess back then I'd be

definitely looking at the the silhouette that came with limited slip diff straight away, straight off the bat.

Supposedly it wasn't very good. But.

Back then I guess it wouldn't be too bad, seats were really nice.

No more buckety on a silhouette, weren't they?

Yeah, nice. I like the pattern too that it

came with too. Yeah, the.

Pattern on those ones was really nice.

And all those that generation, well, even the generation before were really top class. They were brilliant seats.

One especially the biggest change came with the Pulsars when they moved to local assembly that the seats were Australian designed because they found that the Japanese spec seats were too weak in the frame for Aussies.

And the locally assembled cars ended up with a with an Australian designed seat and they were they were fantastic.

They were comfortable and supportive and.

I think that's the one thing Nissan can do with seats, yeah.

No agree with. Me, they've been really good

with seats. Every skyline that I've owned is

pretty good, even to like a base model 34 seats are still being, you know, pretty comfortable for what it was.

Yeah. So I go in, I'll be going.

Have a look at that, it's nice. Definitely would get that one in

a manual. Thanks.

Have a look at the TI. I'm not sure if TI came in

manual. Don't think they did.

in the red over silver. They always doubled up.

Yeah, I do. I do have seen a few of those

ones. It would definitely have to be

at least a 2 tone. Yeah, 2 tone just does it for

me. I would probably have to be.

I like the colour that I've got, the white, the white over the greyish silver colour. Yeah, really like that.

It's clearly plain. I know, but yeah, something.

What it needs is a really fine red pinstripe just along the edge of the. Oh yeah, true, that would look

good. It does look good.

And then if it was a Series 3 silhouette, I'd probably remove the rear spoiler. I didn't like the rear spoiler

on those ones. The series 1 and 2 rear spoilers

were better because it was a little lip, a black lip.

It looked really good, but then it changed to this weird looking kind of higher up lame spoiler thing and I didn't like that that much. They are hard as hell to find,

aren't they? Those little spoilers for

silhouettes? Can't find them, unfortunately.

They're all been like, the heat's gotten to them, yeah.

They're. All WAVY.

They're all WAVY and just kind of destroyed so.

Surely someone's done a reproduction 1 Surely.

I can't believe. No one has.

Surely there's a lip killing or something or like, just no like that that that bug was the mind for a car that popular.

Yeah, they'd make a killing if they just see if someone would, but I guess for you to do that and make the make the mould and everything would just be too expensive.

Scotty David Prince. Yeah, you've got a lot of cars.

So your choice of cars and what your dream specs would be.

Oh. Colour and colours too.

Actually we, we colours we've got, we've got a lot of colours in there too. I think I consider myself very

lucky to actually have my one of my dream spec cars and that's certainly the Sunset Orange N1, which I is really the hero colour. I think of the Rs, they all have

orange highlights in, in the interior and orange stitching on the steering wheel and all that sort of stuff.

Even the white and the black and the green and the yellow ones had that. So it always seemed odd that,

that you'd have oranges as the stitching.

I mean, most sporty cars you'd think that have have red stitching, not these, they had orange.

So it only, I thought it was only sensible.

It appealed to my the neat side of my brain to actually have the same colour trim. Absolutely.

Stitching. And thanks to Maddie Chennai,

who just bought me back from Japan, AN one option catalogue.

I've been poring over that to see what else I can put in it, and there's not a lot. There's really not a lot.

The well, I'm tossing up about the blackout panel for the bonnet, which I do like and it's only ¥8800 and it'd probably fit in a suitcase. I reckon I did get for that.

I got some it came with nice Mugen mats.

It came with quite a few little Mugen bits and pieces and also one thing I did get for it was the like a silicon insert for the centre stuff doesn't slide around like your phone and and keys or loose change or anything.

It actually that's. A Honda option.

Yeah, from the from the book. Yep, that was ¥5500 and it's got

the little N symbol in it, like cast in it.

That's. Cool.

Really cool. The one non Honda option I got

and I, I thought, well I'll allow that be the because there are so few of these cars enough. No, you see now I saw one in on

Instagram and it had an Alcantara gear boot with orange stitching. The regular gear boot's just a

black vinyl gear boot, but someone's created a kit and it's got the same orange stitching and and Alcantara boot.

And every time I change gears, I think, oh, I'm glad I did that.

That's pretty good. So I'm very lucky with that car.

Interestingly, the most customisable new car I bought was probably my 2016 Caddy that I bought the first Caddy after I had a had a Citroen Malingo for work for a few years, which was bucked all the trends. It was actually fantastic,

really good all the time I had it, but the lease was inspired expire or coming to a close on that.

So I the only other thing I really thought would be suitable was a Caddy. So the new generation had just

come out in 2016. I went into the dealership and

got a price and I said, oh, you know, and I said, I really want to lift up tailgate. Can you get lift up tailgate?

Yeah, yeah, you can get that. And he showed me the the, the

book. There was so much I could have

accessorised that car with. So I I was like a kid in a toy

shop. For a caddy.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was absolutely staggered and

had far more customizability than than any Japanese car I've ever owned. You could order things like the

height adjustment on the passenger seat, you could order heated seats, you could order vinyl seats instead of fabric seats if you wanted. You could order the lift up

tailgate if you and I wanted the reverse camera, so you had to have the lift up tailgate. So that was and I wanted a

manual. So they said, Oh well mate,

there's nothing Australia like that.

You're going to have to, you know, we'll have to order you one. It'll take three months.

I said I don't care, that's fine.

The phone was still running completely fine.

So I also then I added in the there was a light and sound, a light and not light and sound. There was a a lighting package,

I think, which gave you fog lights.

It also gave you automatic headlights that came on as it got dark. And then there was also the city

package I ordered which had the like the emergency braking pack.

It also had the adaptive cruise control that Scotty you missed out with on the Blade, but it was really good on that.

I used it on the freeway all the time and it was it was actually much better than the current Honda one that we've got.

Is the Honda 1 quite a bit more severe in in how it sort of breaks and speeds up and stuff that the caddies, even though it was a manual seemed to be a lot more gentle than the the Honda 1I? Have noticed that the European

cars with their adaptive Cruise, it feels a lot smoother than the Japanese cars that I've driven with adaptive Cruise.

I don't know if that's just me, but but it's yeah.

Yeah. But now that was, I was really

surprised and I could have gone on, you know, there were lots of different options you could get. So I, when I changed that one

over in 2020 and updated it to A, to a newer 1, I didn't have the luxury that because they'd stopped building them because the new model was coming out in Europe.

So I only could go with the stock that we had in Australia.

And, and I was, I went to an auto anyway in that one.

And there are only four left in the country that had the lift up tailgate with the camera already fitted, which is not something they can option on later. You know, that's got to be built

into it obviously. And I think that's the

definition of option, isn't it? There's an accessory.

So the accessories are your key knob and stuff that can all be added, you know, locally, but for the biggest stuff you sort of engineered in. But yeah.

So this Caddy is probably not my dream spec.

I probably would have got another manual if I could have, but I couldn't order one. And with the with the other

newer cars I've bought, I've always tried to look for the sweet spot route rather than the ultimate, the ultimate spec because I mean, I love a sunroof, but to get a sunroof in in some of the cars like this last CRV we had was it was like another 12 grand on top of the model we got because it was only on the Top Model. So you had to then you got a

whole lot of other stuff that I didn't necessarily want, but never my wife's definitely not a fan of leather and series, and I'm not really a fan of them either.

And so if you want to kick with a, with a fabric type style interior that doesn't allow you to option in a sunroof, whereas you know, with all the European cars, you could probably go through and just tick that box and if you're prepared to wait and get one built for you, they'll do it.

But yeah, they're less, there's less choice with, with Japanese and Korean cars. I think you get that, get that

model and you can't actually differentiate from what you want sort of thing or fine tune it to what you want.

So, but the sweet spot of often is one or two from the base.

So you're getting a lot of value for not a lot more money, a lot more things like the ZIV we've got now picked up the heated seats, it picked up the leather steering wheel, it picked up the automatic tailgate, all those sort of bits.

And it was only it's like the second one off the off the base model, the better wheel, you know, bigger, bigger wheels which look a lot better on the car.

But to go to the go up to the next one, then you sort of you actually lost the spare wheel which I wanted.

I wanted the spare wheel. I'm still that old that I I'd

like to have the thought of spare wheel if I need one, rather than being stuck on the side of the road waiting for truck. Can of girl whatever it is.

Yes. But even then, Chad, like, you

know, the time completely blows out.

No can of Goose helping you, you know.

And that's of course. Not and and you know a good

friend of mine, George, he bought a like a few month old Havel H6GT disappointing. He had a space saver in his in

his in his H6GT. So he's So what he did, he went

on online to see if he can find out just one wheel and he ended up buying a full set because because he's like a guy was just selling a set of set of wheels because he was he was driving it to Adelaide and he drove it twice in the space of a month.

So to Adelaide. So he's like, look, if I get if

I get buddy puncher, space saver is not going to really help me.

So he bought the set of wheels, put the yeah and the toys were like quality brand new, put one in the boot and and install the IT was was trying to sell. He sold one of them.

He's still two more to sell of the of the other two wheels and he's pretty much made his money back for what he paid for the whole set. So.

Wow, that's great. So that's the way to do it.

Well the the the model above us was the hybrid and the battery actually is where the spare tyre would sit, so you can have a space for it. So that's a bit of a shame, but.

Yeah, not ideal. So that's that's your ZRV.

What about with your other Hondas?

Oh OK, well again, you're probably limited a bit to what they actually do if like Dream spec has got to, I'm presuming has got to be what is available from the factory, not what you do if you had. Correct.

What the claim a minute. It's it's always been the source

of some amusement that like the Grand Prix Civic and the even the indie Ek, the yellow indie Ek based on the base model of the of the local car and Taco. So they up to to nearly GL spec

with everything else, the left hand mirror and the rear wiper and the centre armrest and all that sort of thing.

But no Taco because it's space models.

That was always frustrating the Accord that the the the lovely 94 Accord. I would have liked the spec

below the VTIS because they actually had really nice durable cloth in those, whereas the VTIS has leather and preferably a manual because they are in a manual very cruisy and nice to to float around in. But yeah, the manuals, Honda

were doing really, really good manuals in the 80s and 90s.

And yeah, I always choose a a manual if you could over the auto. Absolutely, Chad.

All right, so the Sylvia, I kind of like the version I have, which is cues. So they did 3 versions.

Jax. Well, they did more than three,

but the main throw Jax Queens and kiss games are the you know, the the playing sets and yeah, the job was like banks model manual everything. It was ACA later model Sr and

yeah. So the one I have is Cues, which

is non turbo Sr and really I'm not sure if yeah, basically electric front fogs, project lights, rear spoiler.

And after 91 that came in the analysis standard as well, but mine didn't adapt because it's a well, it is annoying.

It's annoying, but it must have just not had the option.

Well, it wasn't ticked or something, I don't know.

Maybe it was like at some point, who knows.

And then the other options are like leather, steam wheel and lettuce. So I'm kind of gonna doesn't

have those the the receipts and the Silvies are quite nice.

They're they're kind of like a semi bucket fabric, a grey, you know, little gramme dotted fabric, which is kind of cool and it sort of matches the rest on the carpet as the format and the and they got like a bit of fabric on the glove box as well, which is kind of cool. And mine has a sunroof.

I kind of wish it doesn't. It didn't because it's just for

us now. So the last thing that I got,

yeah, what an amazing one it was not like 30 plus down the road.

It's just a hassle liability. So I would have to have.

Yeah, if it were and I'm talking about all that would have been cool. And you actually got a lot more

head rumours because in my, even though I've got a real like seat rail and all that, even with a helmet on, my head is touching the headliner like it's just, it's barely enough room for me to be able to drive a car with on the if I'm on track.

And so, yeah, with that, I don't know if you just get like a few mil of clearance, which would have been just enough.

Yeah. And I was just having a look

online as well. The other guys were talking and

they they've got a couple of extra models, which is old, a doctor variant and a club in. And they were basically a

variant of each, each like trim that they bought.

And some has like super high cast as like and then some and one of the other, sorry, there's a variant also it's called the mighty variant. But the front spoiler, which is

like like the same as the R31 where like flip down is that auto auto going spoiler. That's cool.

Yeah. So a lot of cool stuff.

I'm sure those were made in such small numbers.

And then there's all these, the Altec, which is a convert on which is super cool, but I don't want to they never have to do with convertible from that. Yeah, because I think they were

more prone just just because, you know, the water just sitting at the inside the world and all that sort of stuff looks cool, but you know. Was that brieta?

Very old was the S15 right? But that's.

Yeah, the S15, so S13 Nortec was fun fact, automatic only, which is why Mecca, why is sports comparable just an automatic.

But alas, that's what they did. I'm sure your dream sake would

have been the there was the Mitsuoka.

Like that full Corella de Ville version of the other.

Thing of the series so wild. We know.

Does everyone know what that is? Yeah, that's the one, Yeah.

Yeah, yeah. It's the crazy retro and thing

that it's OK decided to cook. So I kind of like the spec I

have in the yesterday and I like it's all one colour because I'm the the the sort of the colours are like the the some green 2 tone and you know, like the cream white 2 tone.

But I like a full one car, which is kind of cool and that yeah, so that's the third end. The Tarago.

I would have liked to have like just a the best 1 they did, which is all wheel drive supercharged, which I don't think we got supercharged in Australia.

We didn't, but I know we did get the old drive model which would have been cool. Kind of like something

different. I'm not sure if you could have

got that in a manual, but. Imagine it jacked up.

Yeah, with good muddies. Just jacked up with like 30 twos

and then just looking. The most unstable, most unstable

car in any space. It's a mid engine spaceship or

so it's not that unstable. It's a sports spots car.

I quite like the the spec of mine because it's manual, but apart from that it's very base model.

I mean it's got electric windows on the front, which I think maybe all of them did. I'm not sure if there was a

manual lineup version. Yeah, some sort of been cool

because you get the 2, the one that's just above you and then the one that's above the middle row.

So the dual sunroof, that would have been pretty cool to have.

Yeah, that's, you know, you can kind of like buy one of those now, but like where do you, you know, draw the line of spending how much money, right. The Civic, I definitely would

have liked to have a VTi just for that extra.

It was it was mostly just the engine like from what I have, which is a AF. So what are they called?

e.g. GLI, Sorry, e.g.

GLI to VTi? It was just a VTech single Obed

Cam engine. And I think that was that's

I think the reason the real reason they stopped bringing them in with the 4th Gen was that they were going to be so expensive. That car in the UK is is nearly

$40,000 Australian new. Jeez.

It's well into the 30s and yeah, there there was just no business case for them. Well, interesting though.

I mean everything else has moved up.

I mean the Yaris, you know they are Yaris now only comes hybrid and that's well into the looking for, for Yaris.

That's why you see so few of them on the road now.

But even like the the what was the other thing that was, well, let's go to Fabia. Like that's that was that there

was another car as well as the Polo on the Gulf.

They've all moved upscale and they've all moved up in price.

So the Jazz would still compete. Interestingly there is some

current model Jazzes that we never got coming in now as grey imports and and in the low 20s, you know, so as a used car that I reckon they're Ripper value. Absolutely awesome value and and

that's why I think the Honda made a big mistake, even if they weren't making a lot of money on them, but they they were so popular and they had a loyal following.

That's right. You know, and yeah, I'm, I'm not

impressed, but also I think to us as consumers shot ourselves in the foot because, you know, the job between an FL 5 and an and an FK 8 was what, 15 grand or like 9:50 to 15 grand, I think. And everyone was complaining,

oh, who's going to pay that? But but during Covad, people

were paying 10 grand over like they were paying well over, you know, market value. And then I think the companies

got greens. Well, if they're paying that

during this time, let's just make the cars that price.

And I think that's what shot us in the foot.

Genuinely. I think people like the dealers

are, well, the companies are. Saying, well, if, if that's the

case, if they were happy to spend dealer markups and, and you know, more in the, in the used market scrum, we'll, we'll make them make sure they pay more in the, in the, you know, for the, for the next model. And, but jumping by like a big

jump, not like a one or two grand jump.

Like these are 10 thousand $15,000 jumps.

So, yeah, I, I think we, you know, as consumers hurt ourselves. But also I think I think that's

a pretty dog act, to be fair. And yeah, I wasn't impressed.

But yeah, the Honda bring back the Jazz because it has got a good following and I think, and I think it would still sell.

I I genuinely think it would sell, but who am I to say?

I'm not marketing head of of Honda Australia, so.

state with that, that it would be competitive in in the market definitely it would be. Now, it certainly would be now,

And I looked online, I'm like, I'll probably just do it myself.

spoil. The Spec R automatically came

with the big spoiler. The premium didn't, but they put

It's just the requires. And while the requires look

nice, they were predominantly Alcantara in the middle.

And look, I haven't to be fair, I haven't owned an Alcantara, you know, car with with the interior.

But knowing what I know about Alcantara, if something, you know, rub your ass on it every day, that's not the best material. At least you know it's not going

to wear the best. And last and last, I'm sure if

you had somebody as also today, we're taking care of it every day, which I can't afford. It'll probably last a bit

better. But you know, he could touch up

anything that immediately went wrong.

But you know, I can't afford to have data on hand yet.

driver, you're hitting up onto the ball to get the flight, so remember that. So you're kind of leaning back a

little bit. Your shoulders are tilted to aim

up so you get the height on it. Don't do that when you're

hitting with your irons. Why not?

Because you don't want to be hitting up because you won't connect the ball, you'll just end up topping it.

So you so you want so you want, you want distance not not flight is that. Kind of, well, because the

driver doesn't really have, doesn't really have loft to it.

So you're adding that loft to it with the T, setting it up on the T, setting that high and leaning back so you're swinging upwards into it. If you notice the the arc when

you're hitting with an iron, it's it's a lot different and you're hitting more, more down onto the ball.

So when you watch the golfers when they make a divot, that grass that they're ripping up is after the ball, not before the ball. Oh, really?

OK. They're actually coming down and

hitting the ball and then you're making the divot.

So your arc is coming down, hitting the ball, then divot and then up back up again. So let's go on.
