The Chevrolet Nova is an older Chevrolet model that people still talk about today. It’s known for being part of car history and enthusiast culture. In this episode, it’s brought up in a personal or event-related way.
A gasket is a seal that keeps fluids and gases from leaking. “Composite gaskets” are made from layered materials, and the host is saying these are a specific type that can work well for performance/racing setups.
The NASCAR All-Star Race is a special event NASCAR runs that isn’t the same as a normal points race. It often has a different format, so the racing can feel more chaotic or stop-and-go than a typical race.
Term
lap two
“Lap two” means the crash happened really early in the race. When wrecks happen that soon, it can throw off the whole event because teams haven’t really gotten going yet.
Tire wear means the tires get worse as the race goes on. If the tires wear out quickly, the car loses grip and the driving gets harder—sometimes that leads to more crashes or slower laps.
Track temperature changes how sticky the racing surface is for the tires. When it gets colder, the tires often grip less, so the car can start to slip more easily.
It means the car started sliding with all four tires instead of gripping the track. The driver then got control back as the tires found traction again.
“Going sideways” means the tires aren’t gripping the road the way they should. Once that happens, the vehicle can start sliding or fishtailing, which is dangerous—especially on snow.
Nitrous is a system that injects a special gas into the engine. It helps the engine make more power for a short time—like a temporary “power button” for racing.
NHRA is the big U.S. drag-racing organization. It puts on events where cars race in straight lines, and the show highlights are just a recap of the key moments from the race.
Pro Stock motorcycle racing is a drag-racing category focused on fast acceleration. When something like a chain breaks at the start, it can instantly ruin the run.
Term
drive chain
The drive chain is what sends engine power to the back wheel. In a race, especially at the start, it has to handle a huge amount of twisting force, so if it fails you lose the run quickly.
A master link is the special piece that connects a motorcycle’s drive chain into one continuous loop. If it’s put on the wrong way or rubs the bike’s frame, it can pop loose and the chain can break apart.
The Toyota Supra is a sports car built for fast driving. People talk about it in relation to fuel because some engines may prefer higher-octane gas. In the episode, the discussion is mainly about how much different octane levels cost.
The Dodge Challenger is a muscle car, meaning it’s designed to be powerful and quick. It’s a popular model people associate with Dodge. In the podcast, it’s mentioned because someone is driving one.
The Dodge Charger is a car that’s built to feel sporty and powerful, even though it’s a sedan. People talk about it when there’s a new version or updates. In this episode, it’s mentioned because someone is showing or discussing the newer Charger.
The Oldsmobile Intrigue is a regular passenger car (a sedan) made for everyday driving. It’s named “Intrigue,” and the podcast is using that name in the conversation. The mention seems more about referencing the model than talking about performance.
The Nissan Serena is a minivan, meaning it’s made to fit more people than a typical car. It’s designed for family or group travel. In the podcast, “Serena” is mentioned as part of a person or video-related reference.
“Resurface the track” means they redid the racing surface. A better surface can help tires grip more consistently, which matters a lot for drag launches.
In drag racing, the “60-foot time” is how fast the car gets to 60 feet after the start. A better 60-foot time usually means the car launched well and grabbed the track instead of spinning.
“Split” here means the difference between their slower and faster runs at key points. They’re comparing tiny changes to see if the car is improving after adjustments.
Concept
PB
“PB” means “personal best”—the fastest or best result the driver has achieved in that specific category. In drag racing context, it’s often tied to elapsed time (ET) and/or trap speed, and it’s used to track improvement run-to-run.
The Porsche 928 is a sports car made for comfortable long drives. It’s a specific, older Porsche model that car fans recognize. The podcast is basically asking people to comment on it.
Piston rings sit on the piston and help seal the combustion chamber. Total Seal makes performance-focused rings that aim to keep more pressure where it belongs, which can help an engine make better power.
This is a company that builds performance transmission and torque-converter parts. Those parts help the car transfer engine power to the wheels, especially when you’re trying to launch hard.
Torque Calibration Services refers to a shop that performs calibration work—typically tuning how the vehicle’s powertrain responds. In performance contexts, that can involve adjusting throttle/engine management and transmission behavior to improve drivability and acceleration.
finding the camera. It's not finding the camera. At least Joe's cats started barking.
Right. That's true. That's true. I apologize.
They only stick their butt in his face.
What's entertaining?
Jerry, come here. Come here, Jerry.
Yeah, I was going to say, Jerry keeps it. I love it when Jerry shows up.
Nice.
Hey, come here. What are you doing?
He doesn't want to be in the studio.
There it is. This is Jerry. Jerry is the greatest. He is. This guy is like 20. Okay,
we got to end the show. I'm freaking out because the camera is like on, off, on, off.
I have no idea why. It's not this guy's fault. He didn't do anything, but it is.
Did we miss out on anything? Is there anything we should have discussed?
Fantasy results. There was no fantasy because it was the,
also, and on a race. Yes.
Our WFO gang. I couldn't find any of us anywhere close.
So I'm going to put it this way. It was pretty much a disaster for us this week.
I didn't even set a team, guys. That's how messed up I was.
Wow. I think I ended up 700th and something in the main board. So
it was, it was pretty bad.
Guys just start picking Sean Langdon. That's my tip to you guys.
You know, play in HRE also. Langdon, those guys are on rails, Brian. He's in his feeling it.
He's a deep thinker. Langdon is happy. You know, those guys, him and JR, they are happy when they
win, but they can't be happy if they don't win. And so it's a vicious circle. So now that they
got the car running good, Langdon is good. He's going to win a lot more races, in my opinion.
So pick Langdon. Megan says I set my DRBB and then never checked my results because it's never
good. Yeah, it's really tough. Dragon's Fragment is really, really tough. But hey, it is what it is.
All right, guys, that'll do it. I'm checking to see if there's anything else that we need to
address. I don't think that there is. Any more sponsor moments, Joe? Did we forget anybody or
we got anybody in? I got them all in. You know, Marvin Rodak. I'm always pushing the coffee,
Marvin Rodak, and Frank Hollies, and Larisse Motorsports Insurance, and all these fine folks
that help us get on. Yes, Hoggett, right. Gary Stinnock got that big win a couple of weeks ago
out there. Troy was on the mic for that. That was huge. Haseeperformance.net and Redline Synthetic
Oil. There's a good chance they will be coming back. FTI Performance, Total Seal. What's that?
It's not cheating. Right? It's not. It's winning. Larisse Motorsports Insurance, everybody that
helps us out on WFO. The gear is available and on sale. You can get a Life's a Drag shirt.
You can get a Morris Motorsports shirt. Abby on Life's a Drag. For those that don't know,
you know, now that Jason Logan has got a job, he is unable to be on Life's a Drag every week.
Some weeks, yes. Some weeks, no. Elon needs to have a co-pilot. And so we suggest his daughter,
Abby, be his co-pilot. Now, you might be wondering like why? And I've spent a lot of time with Abby
going to dinners and talking with her. And she is a curious young lady. She loves drag racing.
She can control her father. And she's committed to the concept of the show.
All of these things, all of these things factored into the decision
to make Abby the co-host of Life's a Drag. Now, Jason Logan, I believe will pop in on his show
and our show, you know, on WFO Nitro from time to time. But hopefully you will support Abby and
Elon as Life's a Drag continues to grow and develop. It's really hard to keep the band
together. Giovanni has been coming on this show since 2009, man. Giovanni and I, he's been coming
on helping me out as the producer before we had all this great technology and to keep any kind of
show going at all. He really is. He's a friend. He's a friend, absolutely.
But that's what it takes. It takes that stability. And it's just, you know, what Jason had. Yeah,
anybody can do a show, a few shows or even a few weeks, but you know, to be consistently
year, you know, week after week, year after year. Most podcasts fail after 25 episodes.
Yeah, sure. You could say we've already failed, but we just won't quit.
You know, we're not like, we're not. Anybody who cares, we're meditating ourselves.
That's exactly right. Like we're not on bar stool. I've never submitted this show to serious or to
anyone. We were on iHeart for a while. That's where we met Gary Corbett, remember, but it's
always people coming to me about putting the show out. And the reason I don't do that, the reason
I don't do that is because with, you know, more money, more problems. Next thing you know, you're
over there and they're wanting us to change this show or they're demanding something be changed
about the show or something. Whereas we're into the show is really, ignition is really us
entertaining ourselves. And the people out there who listen and like it, they get it. But if they
don't, oh well, like all the complaints about Matt in Australia, screw you people. He's staying on,
guys. He's staying on and there's nothing you can do to stop it. You just, you just said if I hang
out for five years, the money will start to flow, Joe. What are you saying now?
I've been here a lot longer than five years.
That's funny.
Jay, right now, I didn't get that offer, Matt.
Stopping that the real offer, Matt. You think the money did flow out of your wallet?
In the pocket of somebody else?
If you're making a promise, we need to have a chat. Bobby, you're owed.
Yeah. That's what my contract said. Joe said it.
You agree to do a Australia?
Come on, brother, wait a minute, come on, brother. Not only am I getting paid, I'm paying.
How about for Kyle Bates, mom? She has to join Patreon to hear an interview with her son.
Oh, that was bad.
How about that? It felt terrible. Like I see new Patreon. Amanda Bates.
And I'm like, oh my gosh.
Just wait for one year to watch one show.
That's bringing them in.
And I talked to Heiner about it. I was like, Heiner, what do we do about this?
I feel terrible because the guy's mom wants to hear her son do a nice interview.
And she's got to sign up for a month, whatever, five bucks.
But still, I go, should we sell the show individually?
He goes, well, and Heiner's smart, as you all know.
He goes, really, the whole reason we're doing the show
is to add value to the people that are already paying.
He goes, they're Patreons who pay and they are committed to the show.
And that's why they do that. They're committed.
They understand they're paying the Internet bill.
They're helping out the show.
And we want to make those people, he goes, even if it's 10,
we want to make those people feel better about it.
So we're doing the show for those people, new people.
He goes, if you want to make it for sale, you can.
But I would just leave it as it is.
And I was like, damn, Heiner.
He's right. He's right.
And by the way, some of the here from Heiner have been off the chart.
And that was the Kyle Bates one was another great.
He, man, his story.
If you want to hear a story, sign up, be a patron.
That was a great, great interview.
Wasn't it?
I'm telling you.
It was fantastic.
So I'm out for a little bit.
Oh, we got a goal.
Uh-oh.
Look at that.
Oh, oh, it's tied.
Oh, I didn't third.
Wow.
Oh, just the time, right?
Yeah.
So guys, if you are not a Patreon, you might get extra hockey.
Yes.
And you know, we're going to do one of the big giveaways this week.
And I've decided this is the prize.
The hat that I use to draw.
Guys, this is the price.
And autographs.
Do I look like Bill Gates?
Okay, guys, I have you to comment at 1528 on Patreon.
I'm barely hearing this show.
Now you want me to figure out how to go to Patreon
and leave a comment.
And this is your tech-savvy individual.
Well, you're disqualifying yourself.
That's all.
Okay, guys, it's 928.
I want you to comment now.
No, you don't have to.
You just put the time.
And if you, you, you can, you can cheat too.
Because you see others that put the comment, you can just go,
Oh, I heard it at that.
Dude, you're so funny.
It's so true.
It's just a mechanism to hopefully that people are actually listening.
Because there are patrons that don't listen to any of this,
by the way.
I don't make this any Monday mows.
And the best thing that's happened in 2026 so far.
Yeah.
You hear it from Heiner's show showing up on the RSS feed
on the podcast so I can hear it instead of having to watch it.
Why don't you explain to people about that RSS feed on the Patreon?
Because you're the only person that uses it.
So there's a way that you could go through Patreon
and then you subscribe and then it gives you access
to the Patreon only shows on Apple podcasts.
So Monday mow this show, I could listen back to them on the on Apple podcast.
Without having to watch the video.
Exactly.
Because I couldn't watch the Heiner show before because it was video only.
But now the audio feed is showing up on, on the RSS feed.
That's great.
That's great.
And that's just part of it.
Say another, yet another added value, the whole Patreon thing.
Maybe one day we'll just move the whole thing to Patreon
and we'll have an audience of 100.
I can't, I don't know how to tell people how to go there,
but the title of it is the WFO Radio Patreon VIP podcast on Apple.
And can you only get it if you're a Patreon?
Or did you just like let everybody
get it through the Patreon?
Right.
Wow.
That's interesting.
See, I don't even know.
Trust me.
Patreon's been tightened up, but you can't just,
you have to be a Patreon to get that.
All you regular listeners, I am advocating.
We have like an advisory board a little bit.
Steve Johnson is always like, you know,
you have to have an advisory board.
By the way, Steve Johnson going to be on Hidden Horsepower
this week.
Going to be great.
Anyway, advisory board, Sue is part of the advisory board
and Gio is part of the advisory board.
And I talked to Sue a lot about this.
Like, Sue, you know, what do you think about,
maybe we should do this?
And she's like, no.
The Patreons are paying.
Keep it behind the wall.
Keep it behind the wall.
Gio, I'm like, really?
Yes.
That's the deal.
Thank you, sir.
Keep it behind the wall.
I agree with Sue, by the way, only in the context
that it's a slippery slope.
Because I've seen it before with other shows
that I support.
Okay.
Where you start off or we'll just do a little bit.
We'll just give them this.
Then you give them.
Well, if we do that, we better give them.
And next thing you know, there's no point
in having a paywall because everything's
available to everybody.
Right.
You know, and look, I'll say, if you're not a Patreon
and you're not, if you're a drag racing fan
and you're not hearing here from mine
or you're missing out because that's a great car.
Completely missing out.
Yeah.
If you like pro stock or even want to have
a top sportsman car and you want to know chassis tech,
like my God, man, this guy is a race winning contending
crew chief in the sport.
As we speak, and he does a show and he do an
interviews with others.
It's a, you know,
that all being said, Mrs. Bates did think it was a
waste of money until she started listening to admission.
Well, we'll find out.
I don't know if he's the podcast listener.
And this is one, you just want to get the notification.
She'll get the notification in about half an hour's time.
She'll start listening and saying,
now this was worth the money.
Yes.
Well, it'll be in the description, right?
I'll do it again.
Please listen to this one.
This one's for you.
We loved your son.
You're going to get the credit next week, Matt,
once you listen to it, it's back and I'm not here.
She's going to be like, where's that race with that guy?
I like that.
Well, she mentioned probably it's just for you guys
that are not, uh, patreons, you know, lived in his car,
but he didn't live in his car.
Like his mom told him, he came up to me.
He goes, my mom didn't know I lived in the car.
She's like, you lived in your car.
Why didn't you tell me?
And he's like, I didn't really live in my car.
Mom, like I had to you stay in my car
because I had to drive to different places.
It wasn't like I was homeless.
It's just, I wanted to be able to move quickly.
And it was really interesting walking around the track,
just looking for people to help.
Just like, hey guys, you need some help.
Chip King, let him help.
Like great stories.
Like that's the fashion.
That's the kind of stuff that you got to see.
That's an interesting game you just said.
Chip King, there's a guy that has slowly become a guy.
You do not want to look over in ProMod and see him next to you.
Dude's fast, man.
That guy, step up and just lay out a number.
And you're like, where did that come from?
Yeah.
Well, now everybody that's making the field right now is fast.
Like ProMod, fewer cars.
We're learning the lesson.
Remember a couple of years ago, there was like, oh my goodness.
Oh my goodness.
There was a goal, but now it looks like it's not,
it's going to get waved off, maybe.
And there you go.
I don't want to break your hearts, guys,
because tomorrow you already know what happened.
All right, guys.
Thank you.
You guys have all been great.
This show has been totally disjointed, but I had fun.
Hopefully enjoyed it.
Way to go.
Raise guitar.
Good job.
Cheers, guys.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you, Bobby Graham.
Thank you, Bobby.
You're the best, Bobby.
We love Bobby Graham.
Later, Matt.
Clean out that fire suit.
Suit.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate it.
WFO, have a great week.
Enjoy this upcoming Memorial weekend.
Yes.
This most solemn of holidays.
It's our holiday and, of course, of racing,
we get the Holy Grail.
So it's everything, everything but Indy, right?
Indy drag racing.
I'd like to see Elio win five.
I'd like to see historic happenings.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That could be cool.
Or Santino Frucci.
Santino Frucci, I'm for that one.
I'm for Santino.
Gio, final thought.
Everyone have a great week.
Enjoy the races and don't forget
we're the greatest weekend in motorsports now.
We're going to substitute Monaco for the Canadian GP.
At noon 30, you've got the Indy 500.
At 4 p.m., you've got the Canadian Grand Prix.
And then at 6 o'clock, you've got the Coke 600.
You can still get a full day.
You're just starting a little bit later.
And that's it.
You know, we're going to squeeze the Formula One
in between Indy and NASCAR rather than for breakfast.
And so everyone, have a great week.
WFO out there.
Enjoy the races.
And that's all I got, man.
There you go.
Thank you, Gio.
Good job.
Excellent work.
And the goal was wiped off.
There was an, I guess, an inadvertent whistle or something.
They're saying the whistle.
Oh, my gosh.
If it was inadvertent or if something happened,
but definitely waved off.
Okay.
That's going to be hot.
You have a few to two and a third.
Ten minutes to go.
It's getting exciting.
And the basketball game is now in the middle of the third.
And O.K.C. has taken a one point lead.
58, 8, 57, with about eight minutes to go in the third.
Too much to take the drama.
Good job, Gio.
Thank you very much, Sue.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate you.
WFO.
Good job.
Guys, that's going to do it.
All our stuff, the feeds.
You could see everybody is like, you know,
loves doing the show, loves reaching out.
We use this.
We use this kind of as a way to,
how are we thinking about certain topics?
And tomorrow in HRE Nitro,
really excited about this.
Matt and Angie Smith going to talk about that.
Just gut wrenching moment slash,
you know, the agony and the ecstasy in one family.
Matt wins, but they're kind of sad about it.
That's so bizarre.
And yet it's happening.
We will talk about it on the show.
And then Chad Green,
we're going to play in the video of Joe Serena saying,
bring me another champion to defeat.
That's what you're supposed to be doing, crew jeeps.
Make it fun.
Have a little fun.
And Joe Serena was certainly having fun
on Chad Green's birthday weekend.
Galvin might drop by.
And remember the archive is loaded guys.
There's all kinds of stuff in the archive
and all the social WFO radio WFO Joe.
I'm trying to break out on the social man.
I'm trying to post good things on tiktok.
I posted the Greeks twin engine car.
Would you drive this?
You know, listen, I refuse to get naked on social.
I refuse.
But that appears to be what it takes to become popular.
Good or bad.
But I refuse.
And you don't want that anyway.
All right, guys.
Appreciate all you remember.
Thanks to Gary Stinnett and Fogget.
You can get Fogget at Summit Racing Equipment.
Marvin Rodak 817-924-6821.
That's where you get the coffee.
Call and order the coffee.

Larisse Motorsports Insurance.
Like erasers out there.
Come on, guys.
It's like no brainer.
So you're sitting there on the side of the road in a pile.
You'll be thinking about the couple of hundred bucks
that you should have spent.
Total Seal Piston Rings.
FTI Performance Transmissions and Torque Converters.
Redline Oil.
Shout out to our friends at Torque Calibration Services.
Where you going, Matty?
TripZip.
That's nice.
And Patreon.
Patreon.com slash WFO Radio.
And to Megan and Monica and everybody out there
in the WFO Universe.
Appreciate you guys.
Congratulations to Aaron Stamfield.
One of the best days driving I've ever seen.
And we'll catch up with him next week.
He is already committed.
Because, you know, he's getting fitted
for a top fuel car tomorrow.
I'll only say that like six or 10 times.
WFO!
WFO!
