"...alifying session. Me alone, how I like it, with a Nova Tenarian, 90-year-old. Two weeks ago, it was Garl..."
The Chevrolet Nova is an older Chevrolet model that people still talk about today. It’s known for being part of car history and enthusiast culture. In this episode, it’s brought up in a personal or event-related way.
The Chevrolet Nova is a classic American compact car that became especially well known in performance and enthusiast circles. In the podcast, it’s referenced through a “Nova Tenarian” and a 90-year-old context, suggesting a story or event tied to the model. That kind of mention usually highlights the Nova’s long-lasting presence in car culture.
"HustyPerformance.net composite gaskets. Not just copper gaskets, but they do both. And David Allen and the team doing a great job."
HustyPerformance.net is a website the host recommends for performance engine gaskets. They’re saying it’s a good place to get the parts quickly.
HustyPerformance.net is being promoted as a source for composite gaskets (and copper gaskets). The host frames it as a quick-turn supplier, aimed at racers and sportsmen who need parts fast.
"HustyPerformance.net. composite gaskets. Not just copper gaskets, but they do both. And David Allen and the team doing a great job."
A gasket is a seal that keeps fluids and gases from leaking. “Composite gaskets” are made from layered materials, and the host is saying these are a specific type that can work well for performance/racing setups.
Composite gaskets are multi-layer sealing parts used to prevent leaks between engine components (commonly cylinder head-to-block or intake/exhaust-related sealing). The host contrasts them with “copper gaskets,” implying a durability/heat-handling difference and that the gasket set is designed to seal reliably under racing conditions.
"Some of you heard about it on WFO. Frank Hawley's drag racing school in Bernie's Speed Shop. Josh Hart is turning into a funny character, posting interesting table for one."
Bernie's Speed Shop is the shop the host is working with. They’re talking about getting the car there so it can be sold through consignment.
Bernie's Speed Shop is mentioned as the place the host wants to get the GTO to, and it’s described as selling the car on consignment. That positions the shop as a performance-oriented reseller/service location rather than just a general repair facility.
"My big project, I'm trying to get the GTO to Bernie's. It's a lot, man. I got to do something with power of attorney and all of this."
Power of attorney is legal permission for someone else to make decisions for you. Here, it’s part of the paperwork needed to manage the car situation.
Power of attorney is a legal authorization that lets someone act on another person’s behalf. In the context of this segment, it’s mentioned because the host needs legal permission to handle the car’s ownership-related logistics (like getting the GTO to the shop).
"And then there's Foggett, Gary Stinnitz, Engine Spray, which I was on there today. Someone's like, I couldn't get the doors off my Jeep. Spray it with Foggett. It'll work."
Foggett sounds like a spray you put on stuck parts to help them move again. In the story, someone couldn’t get Jeep doors off until they used it.
“Foggett” is referenced as a product used to help free stuck components—specifically, the host mentions spraying it to get the doors off a Jeep. That suggests it’s a penetrating lubricant or release spray intended to break corrosion or binding.
"Sue, did you guys, you and Gio, did you guys get to watch NASCAR from Dover? I saw no Denny Hamlin won the race, but I really wish we had put a little more into that because this is NASCAR all star race moving around."
The NASCAR All-Star Race is a special event NASCAR runs that isn’t the same as a normal points race. It often has a different format, so the racing can feel more chaotic or stop-and-go than a typical race.
NASCAR’s All-Star Race is a special exhibition-style event that’s separate from the regular points races. Because it’s structured differently, the racing can feel less like a traditional long-form race and more like a series of shorter, high-intensity segments.
Term
lap two
"Look, they wrecked on lap two and with that lap two. Yes. And it was the people that were already in the race and they got wrecked out."
“Lap two” means the crash happened really early in the race. When wrecks happen that soon, it can throw off the whole event because teams haven’t really gotten going yet.
“Lap two” highlights how early the incident happened. In NASCAR, early-race wrecks can remove cars before they’ve had time to settle into tire temperatures and track position, which can make the rest of the event feel lopsided.
"but the race itself was a bit of a snoozer. I mean, yeah, you had crashes and tires wearing"
Tire wear means the tires get worse as the race goes on. If the tires wear out quickly, the car loses grip and the driving gets harder—sometimes that leads to more crashes or slower laps.
Tire wear is how quickly a race tire degrades during a run due to heat, friction, and load. When tires wear unevenly or too fast, it changes grip and forces drivers to adjust line and throttle, often leading to more cautions and slower racing.
"so I was doing about 130 plus mile an hour when it all went like that. I still crossed the line at 105 mile an hour"
That’s just the unit for speed—miles per hour. In racing, higher speed leaves less room for mistakes if the tires lose grip.
“Mile an hour” (mph) is the speed unit used in drag racing to describe how fast the car is moving at key points like the finish line. Speed matters because small traction changes at high speed can quickly turn into a slide.
"We had had about an hour plus break due to a really, really bad oil down"
An “oil down” means oil got on the track. Oil makes the surface slippery, so cars can lose grip until the track is cleaned.
An “oil down” is when oil or fluid gets onto the track surface, reducing traction and increasing the chance of wheelspin, sliding, or loss of control. After an oil down, events often pause while the track is cleaned and conditions stabilize.
"I've been taking notes from Dave and Sue. I've been checking the track temp. It had dropped about 10 degrees Fahrenheit plus"
Track temperature changes how sticky the racing surface is for the tires. When it gets colder, the tires often grip less, so the car can start to slip more easily.
Track temperature affects tire grip and how quickly tires reach their working temperature. As the track gets colder, traction usually drops, making it easier to spin or slide under acceleration or at the transition points of a run.
"Matt got very, very sideways, like it was started to slide... the way it kind of just went into almost what I would call like a four wheel drift. It was... no longer hooked to the track surface... and then you kind of regained control"
It means the car started sliding with all four tires instead of gripping the track. The driver then got control back as the tires found traction again.
“Four wheel drift” describes a loss of traction where all four tires are sliding rather than the car staying firmly “hooked” to the track. Drivers often regain control by easing inputs and letting grip return, which can look like the car rotates and then straightens as traction comes back.
"I've been there with an 18 wheeler going sideways on the highway going, oh, I'm not planted anymore."
“Going sideways” means the tires aren’t gripping the road the way they should. Once that happens, the vehicle can start sliding or fishtailing, which is dangerous—especially on snow.
When a vehicle “goes sideways,” the tires lose directional grip and the car can enter oversteer or a fishtail-like slide. On high-power vehicles or heavy trucks, that can happen quickly if traction breaks, especially on slick surfaces like snow or ice.
"I've only got, you know, almost 900 horsepower. So it's not as if I've got boost or nitrous or anything like that that's going to, a power at it, that's going to push in more power at that point in time."
Nitrous is a system that injects a special gas into the engine. It helps the engine make more power for a short time—like a temporary “power button” for racing.
Nitrous (nitrous oxide) is a chemical boost system used on drag cars to temporarily add oxygen to the engine. That lets the engine burn more fuel and make more power for short bursts, which can be especially helpful for acceleration runs.
"I've only got, you know, almost 900 horsepower. So it's not as if I've got boost or nitrous or anything like that that's going to, a power at it, that's going to push in more power at that point in time."
Boost is extra “push” of air into the engine. More air can help the engine make more power, which is why racers talk about it a lot.
Boost is extra air pressure delivered to an engine, most commonly from a turbocharger or supercharger. More boost generally means more oxygen in the cylinders, which can increase power—assuming the engine and fuel system can handle it safely.
"But to my reaction times, Joe, the trip zip in E1 and my other reaction times were a 030, a 022 and a 036."
Reaction time is how fast you move after the start light. In drag racing, even a few hundredths of a second can matter a lot.
In drag racing, reaction time is how quickly the driver launches after the starting signal. Numbers like 0.030 seconds are extremely fast and are used to compare launches and consistency between runs.
"they want me to come over and drive the Dodge. They're going to try a bit of an experiment with the 11,000 RPM and they want me to drive."
RPM is how fast the engine spins. 11,000 RPM is extremely high, and racers often test it because it can change how the car launches and accelerates.
RPM (revolutions per minute) is engine speed, and 11,000 RPM is a very high operating range typical of purpose-built drag engines. At those speeds, small changes in launch strategy and throttle timing can strongly affect traction, stability, and acceleration.
"let's just say NHRA are doing this highlights thing the next day, which I get to watch on Monday morning here. Tuesday morning here. Sorry."
NHRA is the big U.S. drag-racing organization. It puts on events where cars race in straight lines, and the show highlights are just a recap of the key moments from the race.
NHRA stands for the National Hot Rod Association, the main U.S. organization that runs drag racing events. In NHRA racing, cars compete over a short straight-line distance, and the broadcast-style “highlight reel” is meant to recap what happened in each round.
"it was though Courtney was the best. She goes, I've seen this story. I bought tickets to this. I ain't buying it. Yeah, it was it was a good, you know, pro stock battle."
Pro Stock is a drag-racing category. A “pro stock battle” means two cars from that class going against each other in a race round.
“Pro Stock” is a drag racing class where purpose-built cars race for elapsed time and speed. When the hosts say “pro stock battle,” they’re referring to a head-to-head matchup between two Pro Stock cars in a race round.
"I've never seen a pro stock motorcycle race. So where I saw two chains break."
Pro Stock motorcycle racing is a drag-racing category focused on fast acceleration. When something like a chain breaks at the start, it can instantly ruin the run.
Pro Stock motorcycle racing is a drag-racing class where bikes are built and tuned for maximum acceleration over short distances. Failures like drive-chain breakage are especially dramatic because the bike is under extreme load right at launch.
Term
drive chain
"I've never seen a pro stock motorcycle race. So where I saw two chains break."
The drive chain is what sends engine power to the back wheel. In a race, especially at the start, it has to handle a huge amount of twisting force, so if it fails you lose the run quickly.
A drive chain transfers power from the engine to the rear wheel on many motorcycles. In drag racing, the chain sees very high torque at launch, so chain issues can show up as sudden breakage or separation.
"got Sierman from Benson Heinz told me he goes most of the time they don't break because there's a master link. There's a master link. And that if the master link touches the frame rail or anything, or if it's installed in one direction versus the other or anything that the master link comes undone and it just actually comes undone."
A master link is the special piece that connects a motorcycle’s drive chain into one continuous loop. If it’s put on the wrong way or rubs the bike’s frame, it can pop loose and the chain can break apart.
In pro-stock motorcycle racing, a “master link” is a special connector that joins the ends of the drive chain into a closed loop. If it’s installed incorrectly or contacts the frame rail, it can come undone, causing the chain to separate during a run.
"day. Yeah. So you're about $6 a gallon for for unleaded or for normal gasoline. 87 octane was 5, 549. Right. What about a 90 sort of octane? 93 octane was 650. Holy hell. Okay. American dollars. Yeah. Yeah. But but again, by the airport thing, I want"
The Toyota Supra is a sports car built for fast driving. People talk about it in relation to fuel because some engines may prefer higher-octane gas. In the episode, the discussion is mainly about how much different octane levels cost.
The Toyota Supra is a performance sports car known for strong acceleration and a driver-focused layout. It often comes up in discussions about fuel costs and engine tuning because higher-octane gasoline can be relevant depending on the specific setup. In this podcast context, it’s mentioned alongside octane and price differences for regular vs higher-octane fuel.
"... I looked him up, I found out that he's driving a Challenger, which is a I'm a Mopar guy. So that was a good, ..."
The Dodge Challenger is a muscle car, meaning it’s designed to be powerful and quick. It’s a popular model people associate with Dodge. In the podcast, it’s mentioned because someone is driving one.
The Dodge Challenger is a muscle car from Dodge, built around powerful engines and a classic, aggressive look. It’s significant in car culture and often comes up when someone is talking about being a “Mopar guy,” since it’s one of the most recognizable Mopar models. The podcast mentions it as the car a person is driving.
"...ation with Mark Palak, who has got that new Dodge Charger out there and is, you know, they're slowly figuri..."
The Dodge Charger is a car that’s built to feel sporty and powerful, even though it’s a sedan. People talk about it when there’s a new version or updates. In this episode, it’s mentioned because someone is showing or discussing the newer Charger.
The Dodge Charger is a performance-oriented sedan that blends everyday usability with muscle-car power. It’s often discussed in the context of new releases and ongoing updates, which fits this podcast mention of a “new Dodge Charger” and how things are “slowly” developing. The car is brought up as part of a conversation about what’s happening with that model.
"...But anyway, the Austin JR thing, there's a lot of intrigue there. They are, you know, both great. And they'r..."
The Oldsmobile Intrigue is a regular passenger car (a sedan) made for everyday driving. It’s named “Intrigue,” and the podcast is using that name in the conversation. The mention seems more about referencing the model than talking about performance.
The Oldsmobile Intrigue is a mid-size sedan that was designed to blend comfort with a more upscale feel. The podcast mentions “intrigue” in a way that connects to the car name, suggesting it’s being referenced as part of a broader discussion. It’s not a performance icon in the same way as some muscle cars, but it’s still a distinct model from Oldsmobile’s lineup.
"...e. So we'll just have to see how it goes. And Joe Serena, Chad Green is going to be on to play the video. ..."
The Nissan Serena is a minivan, meaning it’s made to fit more people than a typical car. It’s designed for family or group travel. In the podcast, “Serena” is mentioned as part of a person or video-related reference.
The Nissan Serena is a family-oriented minivan designed to carry multiple passengers comfortably. It’s the kind of vehicle that often comes up in discussions about practicality and how families use cars day to day. In the podcast, it’s referenced through the name “Joe Serena,” suggesting a person or segment connected to the Serena name.
"And they did a lot of upgrades to the facilities as far as the bathrooms and resurface the track and put in, put in some extra bathrooms and stuff like that."
“Resurface the track” means they redid the racing surface. A better surface can help tires grip more consistently, which matters a lot for drag launches.
“Resurface the track” means replacing or overlaying the asphalt to restore grip and smoothness. In drag racing, surface condition can strongly affect traction and consistency, which then influences launch and elapsed time.
"We, we tighten up the whole package a couple of thou from our last meeting. So the split from our slowest run to our fastest run was 0.025 in the second. Our split on our 60 foot times was five thou and split on our mile an hour was a variance of only 0.3 of a mile an hour."
In drag racing, the “60-foot time” is how fast the car gets to 60 feet after the start. A better 60-foot time usually means the car launched well and grabbed the track instead of spinning.
In drag racing, the “60-foot time” measures how quickly you accelerate over the first 60 feet from the start line. It’s one of the biggest indicators of launch quality—traction, clutch/launch technique, and how well the car hooks up early.
"So the split from our slowest run to our fastest run was 0.025 in the second. Our split on our 60 foot times was five thou and split on our mile an hour was a variance of only 0.3 of a mile an hour."
“Split” here means the difference between their slower and faster runs at key points. They’re comparing tiny changes to see if the car is improving after adjustments.
In drag racing, a “split” is the measured difference between two runs at a specific checkpoint (like 60 feet) or metric. Small split changes (like thousandths of a second) are used to judge whether a tuning or setup change helped or hurt.
Concept
PB
"So and we, and we PB'd with a new 811 was our new PB at 166 mile an hour. So a good weekend, directionally correct as Mr. Lyon would say, which I like that saying."
“PB” means “personal best”—the fastest or best result the driver has achieved in that specific category. In drag racing context, it’s often tied to elapsed time (ET) and/or trap speed, and it’s used to track improvement run-to-run.
"That's all. Okay, guys, it's 928. I want you to comment now."
The Porsche 928 is a sports car made for comfortable long drives. It’s a specific, older Porsche model that car fans recognize. The podcast is basically asking people to comment on it.
The Porsche 928 is a grand touring sports car known for its long-distance comfort and distinctive styling. It’s a notable model in Porsche history and often gets discussed by enthusiasts because it represents a different approach than more modern, track-focused cars. The podcast directly calls it out as “928,” prompting comments.
"You'll be thinking about the couple of hundred bucks
that you should have spent.
Total Seal Piston Rings."
Piston rings sit on the piston and help seal the combustion chamber. Total Seal makes performance-focused rings that aim to keep more pressure where it belongs, which can help an engine make better power.
Total Seal Piston Rings are aftermarket piston rings used to improve cylinder sealing in an engine. Better sealing can help reduce blow-by (combustion gases leaking past the rings) and may support higher power and efficiency, especially in performance builds.
"Total Seal Piston Rings.
FTI Performance Transmissions and Torque Converters.
Redline Oil."
This is a company that builds performance transmission and torque-converter parts. Those parts help the car transfer engine power to the wheels, especially when you’re trying to launch hard.
FTI Performance Transmissions and Torque Converters is a performance-focused company supplying drivetrain components. In drag-racing and high-power builds, upgraded transmissions and torque converters help match engine output to the car’s launch and acceleration needs.
"FTI Performance Transmissions and Torque Converters.
Redline Oil.
Shout out to our friends at Torque Calibration Services."
Redline Oil is a brand of engine oil. People use it in performance cars because it’s designed to handle heat and stress better than many regular oils.
Redline Oil is a performance-focused engine oil brand known for high-quality lubricants. Enthusiasts often choose it for track or drag use because oil choice can affect lubrication under high heat and stress.
"Redline Oil.
Shout out to our friends at Torque Calibration Services.
Where you going, Matty?"
Torque Calibration Services refers to a shop that performs calibration work—typically tuning how the vehicle’s powertrain responds. In performance contexts, that can involve adjusting throttle/engine management and transmission behavior to improve drivability and acceleration.
"He is already committed.
Because, you know, he's getting fitted
for a top fuel car tomorrow."
A top fuel car is a super-quick drag-racing car. It’s built for maximum acceleration, so drivers and teams prepare it very carefully for the race.
A top fuel car is a drag-racing category built around a specialized nitro-fueled engine and extreme acceleration. Because it’s so power-dense, teams often use custom-fit setups and careful preparation to manage traction, heat, and drivability at launch.

This is Joe Costello's WFR radio. Ignition. Covering everything that has wheels, an
engine, and a driver. The reason I race is to get the chicks. You know what I mean?
NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula One, sports cars, and NHRA drag racing. Hey guys, just want to let you know WFR Rock.
WFR radio is total motorsports. It's just so cool. Fasten your seatbelts, fire up the ignition, and drop the hammer.
Yeah, let's do it. Now, here's your host, Joe Costello. WFO, how's everybody doing out there? We are back from
Shattown, baby. Route 66, Raceway, NHRA drag racing. We had ourselves a good event. I was satisfied with
the event. It felt like it was good. We'll have NHRA Nitro Tuesday, one o'clock Eastern time. Matt and Angie
Smith are going to join us along with Chad Green. They're going to join us on the show, maybe some Jason
Galvin as we recap the event. But Ignition, we're getting ready for a big weekend, the Memorial Day
weekend in the United States of America, which means the Indy 500, the Coke 600, and of course, everyone's
favorite Canadian Grand Prix. Yeah, kind of, you know, makes it's different. It's a different kind of vibe with our
brothers and sisters to the north, the Canadian Grand Prix, but we'll get into it. We're going to sandwich it right
in between the Indy 500 and the Coke 600. It's like from four to six p.m. or four, 30 to six, 30 p.m., something
like that. It'll be kind of fun. So we got a lot to get into. The NASCAR All-Star Race Dover. Oh, yeah, gosh, I
was totally out of the loop. Fortunately, we've got some fine folks on this show who are totally in the loop all
weekend long. Sue and Gio and the Patreons have been summoned. And this is going to be one of those shows, guys, in
our pre-show meeting. Giovanni and Sue and myself agreed. We're going to keep it tight today. But we got a lot to
talk about. We got a lot to talk about. So let me just tick through our wonderful sponsors for the new first
time listeners. If you're new to the show, guys, look, you know, we try to not hit you with too many commercials.
Just know the next time you need one of these companies, something like the next time you build yourself a race
car and you need motorsports insurance, no-brainer, Larisse Motorsports Insurance. They're the ones that I use. Sue
uses them as well. It's like a biggest no-brainer in the history of Earth. Use Larisse Motorsports
Insurance.com. When you need piston rings, I don't know what Sue and Dave are using, but I can tell you I'm using
Total Seal. My transmission is an FTI Performance Transmission at Torque River. They're located in the land
Florida, right? Our great friends Redline Synthetic Oil. They're on board with WFO Radio still this year. Been
very excited. How about Krista Baldwin? How great was the Greek? Super excited about that. Just personally, I don't
even care about that. It went great. And I was a little nervous doing a second entire qualifying
session. Me alone, how I like it, with a Nova Tenarian, 90-year-old. Two weeks ago, it was
Garlets this week. It was Greek. And it just, you know, how do I say this in a way that sounds humble and appreciative?
It totally killed. It was great. One guy was very upset. I'll tell you about him later. Sorry, dude. You
email me with anger. I might mention you on the show. It's not even my choice. HustyPerformance.net
composite gaskets. Not just copper gaskets, but they do both. And David Allen and the team doing a great job.
They'll turn them around real fast. All my sportsmen, racer friends out there. Give these guys a shot, man. Give
them a shot. HustyPerformance.net. Some of you heard about it on WFO. Frank Hawley's drag racing school in
Bernie's Speed Shop. Josh Hart is turning into a funny character, posting interesting
table for one. But really, it's all about Bernie's. My big project, I'm trying to get the GTO to Bernie's.
It's a lot, man. I got to do something with power of attorney and all of this. My dad, my mom, and he'd
like, oh my goodness, it's not easy for me to take the car into my ownership. But Bernie's, once I got it,
they're going to sell it on consignment. It's going to be great. My friend, Marvin Rodak,
RodaxCoffeeandGrills.com. Coffee guys, if you listen to Ignition and you haven't tried Rodax Coffee
once, like, if you like coffee, I like coffee. And this podcast I'm listening to, they're
promoting this coffee. And you haven't made the connection to buy the coffee one time.
I don't know. I don't want to tell you you should stop listening, but I really think you should try
it. You must not trust us. Whatever. And then there's Foggett, Gary Stinnitz, Engine Spray,
which I was on there today. Someone's like, I couldn't get the doors off my Jeep.
Spray it with Foggett. It'll work. It'll work. All right. Let's bring on Giovanni in Miami. What's
up, G.O.? How are you? All right. as well. Monday evening here in
sunny and wet and hot in humid South Florida. Rainy. I went over and I got connected with my mom.
You know, my mother's swimming pool was overflowing. You know, she's not capable of going
and turning the valve lower the water in the swimming pool yet, as you can imagine over the
weekend. My pool, you know, I had to add water like Thursday or Friday because it was like six
inches from below the, you know, the water has been evaporating. And now, of course,
for the next two days after that, when you add the water, then it doesn't stop raining.
We were to the top. I don't normally bring up swimming pool talk, but like, you know,
infinity pool, like right to the top, like right to the top. And when I got home and I was like,
the first thing I'm doing my is letting water out of the pool, which was perfect, perfect timing.
All right. Enough about that. And let's bring on everyone's favorite co-host, Sue Morris. What's
Pennsylvania where it's hot, hot, hot before it gets cold, cold, cold.
Man, Monica Megan, what is going on in Pennsylvania? The weather everywhere.
I'm telling you. Friday morning in Chicago at Route 66, you know, I was like mid-May. I was
doing my Florida thing, right? Gio, Gio and I are excruciating hot. It's like 90 degrees outside.
And so I brought my one, like, you know, windbreaker, weather, slightly wet, medium-sized
jacket. You guys see the one that I wear? That is the not cold jacket. I thought I'll be fine.
Friday morning, I was dying. It was 55 degrees, but the wind was whipping, man. It was, you look,
you look cold. I was looking at it. I was like, Oh, Joe is cold. What is this? What the heck is
the meaning? You should have seen us at the yes program, which is that youth and education services
program. It was really funny. Just a little sidebar. You know, task is great. Guys, I'm
gotten to know Bob Tasker pretty well. And he's, he's great. Great guy. You, you know, if you got
to know Bob Tasker, you'd like him, I think anyway. So the first wave of kids comes in and they get
the full show. And then right as like they're about to be done, an unexpected second wave of six
school buses show up. And so we have been out there welding the wind and whipping, man. It was bad.
It was bad. It's going right through the jacket and everybody's trying to be tough,
but we are failing. And the second group of kids comes up and they're middle school kids.
They're a little younger. So, you know, between us all here, yeah, yeah, they're not going to be
hired anytime soon as Ford certified technicians. No, no, no, no. They're not in the recruitment
recruitment line. No. So we go down the line and it gets to task and task is the longest and
task as is. I'll say it is the best. And he goes through this whole thing. And then I got a little
back and forth with him. And then he gives them kids some tough love motivation, which it works on
me every week, every week. I'm like, I'm going to do more in my life, but I'm going to go out there
and I'm going to stop hanging out with the losers. They're going to hang with the winners
and all of that stuff. Yeah. So anyway, this time task it goes, kids, I'm going to give you the
short version. You got to work hard in your life. You got to do this and come back in a
couple of years. We're going to give you the full program. Have a nice day.
We both did and I thank you very much.
Now I'm exaggerating a little, but not much. It was great. So we had a lot of fun
out there. Very, very cool. And look at that. The Patreons are on there. We got Bobby's
Bugman. We're going to bring on everybody real fast. Sue, did you guys, you and Gio, did you
guys get to watch NASCAR from Dover? I saw no Denny Hamlin won the race, but I really wish we
had put a little more into that because this is NASCAR all star race moving around. I loved Dover
white lightning. Dover's a really cool track. How did it go? It was horrible as an all star race.
Look, they wrecked on lap two and with that lap two.
Yes. And it was the people that were already in the race and they got wrecked out. It made no
sense. It was run more like the duels for the 500 than it was, you know, race guitar. It was
run more like the duels than it was, you know, racing for the all star race, which that part was
disappointing though. I will say Kyle Larson probably had the best quote, best interview of
the race. He was part of the carnage and they go walking up to him and he's like, oh, yeah,
I'm sitting here watching the team. They're doing arts and crafts and we're going to see if we can
make this shitty car good. Oh, wow. I'm paraphrasing a little bit, but yes, he used the term shitty
car. So it was and called it called the team doing arts and crafts. So that part was pretty funny,
but the race itself was a bit of a snoozer. I mean, yeah, you had crashes and tires wearing
out and, you know, that that thought to major crash. I mean, the crash was exciting and
Ryan Priest at least got out, but that was a ball of flame. You know, that was that was fire.
That car was just engulfed in flames. And unfortunately, when Ryan Priest saw the saw the
replay, he realized that he was actually the cause of it because I don't I don't know if a
spider didn't tell him that someone went next to him, but he came down and oh, that was me.
He's like, haven't seen the replay. And then he's watching. He goes, I guess that was my fault.
Well, Danny, Danny Hamlin came home the winner and was very positive and excited about Danny.
Remember, Danny is kind of racing in a different situation this year. Danny Hamlin is not the
Danny Hamlin we all know Danny Hamlin is a new Danny Hamlin. Danny Hamlin lost his dad and his
life and all kinds of had a personal tragedy. So, you know, to go out there and just keep doing your
job and break through and get this nice win. That's that's cool for Danny Chase Briscoe,
second Eric Jones, third Austin Dillon, Connor Zillich, Austin Cendrick, William Byron, Michael
McDowell, Alex Bowman and Brad Koslowski rounding out the top 10 after Dover. Yeah. And I can
watch some highlights. Everyone's saying it was so terrible. So, you know, I trust it was it was
not an all star race. That's that's Dover deserves a race is what I will tell you because if they
would have ran a regular race there, I think it would have been they deserve a race back and
and that's the, you know, there's a lot of sediment all the way around around the, you know,
around the board on that. But it was just it just didn't make sense. You're putting all the cars
together. You know, typically you have that race into the all star race. Not everybody gets into
the race. And you just haven't everybody out there. Just to make sense. We'll just move forward.
We'll just move forward. And I might double back on it. I've got a long viewing list that's stacking
up, including Formula One from Miami, which I have yet to watch. But I will. Mac set up. But
this weekend, we're going to be focused Memorial Day, all the great stuff. But we got to recap.
I see race guitar is going to be joining us tonight. What's up race guitar? How are you?
I'm good. You I'm tremendous. Awesome. Yes. Yes. So you sound like you're in the bottom of a pit,
like the bottom of a well. It puts the lotion in the basket or it gets the hose again race guitar.
Do you have a microphone? You haven't splurged on a microphone yet?
I want like two times a year.
It puts the lotion in the basket.
Again, race guitar. Is it any better? You sound better. If you're a little closer,
yeah, just the closer you come to the mic, you sound better. You're a little too far away.
We didn't want you to sound like you're in a cave, buddy. Yes. That's all. Yeah.
Like you were at the bottom of that well. Actually, if you think about it, I am in a cave.
I've been to basement here. You are in the basement, right?
Buffalo Bill could come in and use your skin for his skin suit.
It's a silence of the lambs reference to all our wonderful friends who don't know.
It's a very old movie, me and Gio, the radio show we used to work on. They made a very hysterical
comedy bit out of that. And so it is, I don't know about Gio, he'll have to tell you himself,
but it is burned on my brain as a funny thing, not a horrific nightmarish
insane thing from a horrible crazy movie. It's comedy to me. It puts the lotion in the basket.
Gio, are you wrong? Gio, Gio can't pay attention right now. He's focused on the Canadians.
Yeah. Right. No, isn't it still intermission or did they start the second period?
I don't know. I think they're about 30 seconds.
Yeah. Yeah. Started the second game seven. The Canadians are up to nothing on the Buffaloes.
Oh, man. I'll put it on. Yeah. They're trying to be, they're trying to be
when they're 17th game seven to have the most game seven victories in the NHL.
Wow. That's pretty wild. Well, we'll get to that in sports collision. Once again,
we've asked everybody to keep it very, very tight here today. And so how come?
What? Oh, we're trying to keep it tight, man. The other way. No, we received lots of fan mail
that says that the tight one hour show is the greatest thing we've ever done for the program.
We're going to give him a 360 minute show. Six hours.
We're going to be on from now till two in the morning.
Well, also the long audio files mess up the feed. Remember, we were having shows not appearing in
the feed. That was part of it too. We should be on so long that Matt has to call it because the
end of his work days up on him. Matt will never stop speaking to Matt in Australia. Hello, Matt
in Australia. How are you? Good day, mate. day. Good day, guys. Hang on.
Yes, we saw it, Matt. What's that? Read his helmet. What does it say? I can't see it. What does it say?
Hang on. I'm starting to make a comment down here.
No box. No box. You don't have to make it contentious. I am proud that you have a perfect reaction
time. Delaybox is not about having a perfect reaction time. It's about consistently. Consistently.
Exactly. You know, let me know when you have your second reaction time.
Guys, all joking aside, Matt in Australia is my buddy, like this guy, view him as a friend,
and he's, you know, I saw the trip zip or everything. We weren't racing this weekend,
but sent me a video. I'm going to play the video. I want everybody to watch the video.
We are very fortunate that we're not talking a much different situation here
with Matt in Australia. Let's go to this. This is, to me, this is the most pressing thing
that we have happened. And I'm going to lower the volume a little, Matt, if you want to,
let's watch it first. Everybody watch this amazing highlight. And if you are audio only,
this is one of the Patreon moments, guys. I'm sorry, but Matt has...
Oh my goodness. Got totally crossed up in a four wheel slide towards the center line,
gathered it in across the center line. If they got blocks, he probably knocked a couple of them out.
It was a near disaster. Matt, are you okay? And have you, what's your status?
Status is underwear thrown away, plastic bag, and in the bin. I have found out that on a Sunday,
there isn't many dry cleaning shops opened for my race suit.
All right. Now you're saying that and it's a joke, but is it a joke? Did you actually
defecate upon yourself? I don't want to sound like a paquero, but I actually,
it all actually happened pretty slow and it didn't feel that bad. It didn't feel as bad as it looked
and shout out to Jerry Haas race cars, but I just, I can't say, I can say I'm a wonderful driver
and that's how I roll, but whatever I did, I did the right thing, Joe and team and I kept it
the shiny side up and it felt comfortable, you know, and I worked out, it happened in half track,
so I was doing about 130 plus mile an hour when it all went like that.
I still crossed the line at 105 mile an hour and yeah, I did cross the center line just,
but didn't hit any blocks thankfully and yeah. And you didn't get into your opponent either,
which is also a good thing or the wall. I kept going wrong there. And he doubled bulb leaf.
Did he really? Was that round one eliminations? What was that? Round two, round two. We had had a,
we had had about an hour plus break due to a really, really bad oil down and
but they ran junior dragsters down the track. They ran some street,
sort of 11 second cars down the track before us and, but then, you know, it was just getting
colder and colder. I've been taking notes from Dave and Sue. I've been checking the
track temp. It had dropped about 10 degrees Fahrenheit plus and there was a bit of duet,
like the car was showing, there was due on it and. Do you had due on the back window?
Yeah, you could see the due. Oh, it was getting there. And I don't know.
Anyway, it was going down there, got to half track, which is exactly where this car
had expired previously. And yeah, well, you all saw those who are watching also what happened.
So those that are audio only, Matt got very, very
sideways, like it was started to slide. He got in my opinion and he hasn't said anything yet,
but in my opinion, he got, how do I've gotten into something on the surface because the way it
kind of just went into almost what I would call like a four wheel drift. It was, it was no longer
hooked to the track surface in a way and it kind of slid and then you kind of
regained control and started to drive it again. Yeah, it looked like something that might happen
in a car in the snow. Exactly. That's exactly what I thought. I did, I've been there with an
18 wheeler going sideways on the highway going, oh, I'm not planted anymore. Right. And I've only
got, you know, almost 900 horsepower. So it's not as if I've got boost or nitrous or anything
like that that's going to, a power at it, that's going to push in more power at that point in time.
So yeah, we got 600. We got down the, we got down the track and the next two cars, which was one of
them was another car in, in my class had not as bad, but it was moved around. And then we started
modified Eliminator, which is, is a Dragster and Alton class, Diorone. A lot, a lot like Supercom,
but just, but Diorone anyway, Brooke Rappasata, Sano Jr.'s wife, who is a family friend. She went
down that same lane and said that she's never driven a Dragster like that before. So yeah, I,
on the return road, I stopped and they stopped the race after that. And I spoke to one of the
track officials halfway down the track. And then I spoke to the IHRA Chief Seward and
explained to him that this car just doesn't do that. And they checked out the track a bit more
and just made the decision to cancel the event and revert the points back to how they stood after
E1. So yeah, bit of a moment. Made Miss Julie have a bit of a tear and brought back some memories of
about four or four years ago, but all as well. All as well. Everything is fine. After listening,
he's fine. You're fine. Everything's fine. But yeah, that was a scary one. Matt sent me the video
and I watched it and I'm like, what? It was like, oh man, that's a, that's a big move. Had 130 miles
an hour. It was. It was, yeah, got my attention. Well, good. You're okay. Yeah. You're okay. Got the car
so. But to my reaction times, Joe, the trip zip in E1 and my other reaction times were a 030,
a 022 and a 036. So I don't know if Mike was told you, but I've got a call from him and Derek
last night and they want me to come over and drive the Dodge. They're going to try
a bit of an experiment with the 11,000 RPM and they want me to drive.
Well, isn't that exactly right off the bottom? Right? Amber, Flaj, you let go.
I've just been an Aussie idiot. Sorry. We figured that out. out pretty quick. Yes,
we figured that one out. We know you now. So let's keep on going. Any observations from
NHRA, Chicago? I know Race Guitar once has got some stuff on his mind. Bobby Graham might have
some stuff on his mind. Race Guitar, go ahead. I got stuff on my mind about Chicago. Yeah. Chicago
was fine. You know, I mean, it was a great race. You know. Good. Good point. Thank you. Joe, let's
just say NHRA are doing this highlights thing the next day, which I get to watch on Monday morning
here. Okay. Tuesday morning here. Sorry. And it's really good. Goes for about eight to ten minutes
and just shout out there to NHRA for doing it. It's a good one. I haven't even seen it.
I haven't seen that one yet myself. It's very similar to what they do for F1. They do that like
highlight reel for everyone and explain what happened during the race. And yeah, it's just
a good catch up. Well, just to tick through, Sean Langdon and those guys on rails dominating now,
doing great stuff. Historic season, you know, one of his best seasons could happen. So that's great
stuff. Josh Hart getting past Justin Ashley. Now granted, you know, Galvin on the bike can't
give give Josh's due. He has to go all in the well, he had to take a little bit. But but hey,
he still cut the light on Justin Ashley and got the win. And you know, but yeah, I was like, I was
Galvin, seriously, what the hell dude? I heard it from both sides. I heard it from both sides
because I heard it from Mike Ashley that he thought that we didn't point out that he'd rolled it in
enough. It's like, Hey man, there's no way that guy's leaving with Justin if he's not rolling
in deep. And it's like, but it doesn't matter. He still got him. He did what he had to do to get
the win. Josh Hart was just like, but Josh Hart was getting it done. That was freaking awesome. A.B.
And Sean, that team, man, they came alive after spending all of qualifying thinking around. Yeah.
Yeah. So yeah, A.B. getting out there and going to the final round. I mean, that was awesome. That
was that exciting. And Angelle both A.B. Accelerate cars doing real well. Yeah,
oh, that's right. She ran it up too. Aaron Stamfield. Wait, wait, wait, wait,
elite elite. Yeah, man, it was they were they were back. It was though Courtney was the best.
She goes, I've seen this story. I bought tickets to this. I ain't buying it.
Yeah, it was it was a good, you know, pro stock battle.
And Matt and Angie, that's so cool that Matt and Angie are going to be on tomorrow. I mean,
my heart went out to Angie. I was like, oh, that's a WFO get right there. I texted Matt,
I was like, Hey, I want to Angie too. They were both in the final. Let's face it. Let's just call
it what it is. Nobody cares Matt about Matt. Matt was so sad in the media center and his win. I was
like, bro, you can be happy. He's like, no, you know, he was he was heartbroken. Everyone was
heartbroken. As heartbroken, you can get over losing a race. The fact that Angie didn't get to
even moving in for it. Yeah, that was that was the heartbreak. Yeah, that's the part that makes
you just you're like, oh, I mean, everybody was like, oh, no, I mean, the bike just was like,
but he's just sad. He's eating takeaway for the next two weeks. That's all he's sad about.
No, I don't think he is. I think I think and she she was very gracious. Did an interview with me
on the starting line. We did a poll of the fans like who wants Matt to win? And I was one guy
was like, I do the guy and it's like who wants Angie to win? It's like everybody else wanted
and she to win. And it her bike just broke on the starting line. It's just so sad.
I've never seen a pro stock motorcycle race. So where I saw two chains break.
That was wild. I mean, you know, that was just some weird, weird stuff. And then
got Sierman from Benson Heinz told me he goes most of the time they don't break because there's a
master link. There's a master link. And that if the master link touches the frame rail or anything,
or if it's installed in one direction versus the other or anything that the master link comes
undone and it just actually comes undone. It's not like I'm broken. It just comes off.
More likely what it is, but he goes, you never know.
It was just heavy. It's the first time I've ever seen multiple in a race.
I agree. Well, one was Wesley Wells. So that could be old parts. And then the other was
white alligator racing, which that is an we'll have to reconnect with Tim and find out what
happened there. But it was weird. What Joe wants me to talk about is you don't know it because
you're not on Facebook, but I started writing up these paragraph little blurbs. And I just
put them out there on WFO and watch the world explode. It's the greatest thing ever. Yeah.
Yeah. The last one I did was I said, simple. It was so stupid. It was, I said,
for the Nitro teams, we should stop cutting off entry at Monday and just leave it open. And whoever
wants to show up, show up. Oh, everyone just lost their minds. Even Joe was like, well, I don't really
care about full fields. I don't care about full fields. If you can deliver a full field,
shouldn't we do what we can do to deliver a full field? Well, we did that this week with Derek
Reese. They were going to get in. I mean, like, see, I heard somebody push somebody else push
back and they're like, well, that's not true. They could just show up and I go, no, they can't.
And I know for a fact, three times in the last 18 months, teams have been refused. So don't
tell me that they can. If you miss the Monday, you're not coming in. And that's no different
for anybody race guitar. I mean, I don't know what I'm all I'm saying is that if you're, if you
have an opportunity to have a full 16 car show up, why make it so that that can't happen? Let's just
leave it open. You can't leave it open. Where are they going to park? That's the question.
Where are they going to park? It's a choreograph. They have to do the pits. You only have so much
room. It's I mean, even Indy gets packed, right? Like, well, Indy's a different story, but Nick
Janik answered it. Was it Nick Janik? Like you first of all, your post could get a lot of celebrity
feedback on it. A lot of celebrity feedback. And just because those guys don't run their team this
way, and I could text you who it was Joe and Sue if you want. But just because those guys don't
run their teams that way doesn't mean everyone doesn't. And I think that I'm talking about
loading up and running out there on a Wednesday, which is possible. But no, I'm talking about
teams that clerical error because two of the ones I'm talking about were just clerical error.
They didn't get the email sent in time. Cars are ready to go in the trailer set to and it's like,
oh, shit, we forgot. Oh, damn, we forgot. Yeah. But that's part of it. The risk.
Right. Punishment for those who can't do the right thing.
And I'll even go to the flip side of being a sportsman, right? Like, if we don't get in,
yeah, that's part of it. But like, look, two things, right? If we have that's a period of time
to enter. And once you pass that point on that Monday, you're done, whether you can whether
you wanted to show up or not. But on the same token, if you pass that point, say you wanted to
withdraw and you forgot to withdraw. Well, I guess what you paid. Yeah, you don't change anything
else. So, you know, clerical things happen. But if you if you want to get there to race and it was
clerical, well, shit, sorry. I didn't say all them, the kings of our sport, we should do everything
we can to put as many cars on the track as we can. Now, I know I get it. I see how they set
up the pigs. But if a last minute AT wheeler shows up with a car in it that's going to run,
we could find a corner to squeeze them into. They're going to understand that they may even be
parked on the grass. But that's the cost of the risk that they take. Some would say that that is
disrespectful to all the people who are doing it the right way and going out of their way to make
sure that they are within the tolerance. But those are always going to be the guys that have the
bucks and the dollars and the teams to do that stuff. I don't know. I think it's worth why you
might have lost one. We got us for those of you that aren't watching. Yeah, we have a talking
picture of Joe. Can you hear me, though? We hear you. It's just your picture is, you know,
camera here. I'm going to have to go in there. I'll just be here. But no, I mean,
first guitar, we do want to see full fields. But at the end of the day, if you want to do this,
you know what you got to do to enter, right? I mean, that's, I don't know if that's you, Derek,
but you're exactly right. By the way, this is what I love about those stupid posts, right?
Yeah, no.
The first one was the first stock one over 250 likes and shares and 250 comments and still going.
People are just like, shit, it's the greatest thing. I just put it out there and let them go.
That's awesome. That is awesome. Fire them up. Give them something.
I just like to see people talking about it. If you're talking about it,
if they're talking about it and they're making a salient point, great. Of course,
you're always going to have the 80 inch. Do we even read the post?
I don't care.
So that's, I swear. That's what I did is probably going to be about pro month.
So you're just stirring the part. You're just enraging people out there. No, you're rage baiting
people. I'm not rage baiting Joe. I'm creating conversation. That's right. He's getting the
dialogue going. He's getting people talking about it. So because we all know that there's too many
negative people out there, right? There's really nothing negative about what I put up.
Is it controversial? Maybe at the end of the day, though, who cares if you don't know,
it was just a take. I read it. It was just a take. You gave a take and people responded to your take.
All right. So I think my camera might have kicked the rods today, guys. This is just what I'm going
to look like. This is it. This is what I'm going to look like. Maybe it'll come back. Maybe I think
it kicked the rods. That's it. All right. Right. Can I just ask a question? Are you sitting in your
basement when you put those posts on? No. No. Okay, good. Thank you. I'm actually only in the
basement when I have to do this with you guys. I did that. That's okay then. This is Lord's
workplace. Yeah, because remember what Tony said? That's right. But I listed it, Donny man. I'm in
the stands more often than not. So although it's going to start to the season for me, I think my
three races are going to be epic. Yeah. Two or three weeks. Yeah. We'll see there. We got the Potomac
Nationals right after Memorial Day. And I guess I should say that they're speaking of doing the
right thing for people who are racers. Yeah. Everything in the sportsman drag racing world
that was scheduled to run this weekend is canceled. So pretty much sports nationals at
Bowling Green. I had actually been asked to go to that and I was unable because of the mom
situation. And then weather is coming through and it is going to be canceled. Bill Bader is going to
try to run his deal. But he is alerting everybody that there is going to be a period of rain,
but then they got all kinds of dryers and everything. So everyone should go out to
Bader's track. Go to that one. Maple Grove on the eye side. Yeah. They post once NHRA's
postponed. They felt empowered to postpone and they postponed. So that's not happening. Cecil
County. They had to cancel the sports nuts as well. Sports nuts and division all this weekend.
So yeah. So but well, they postponed it. Postponed it. Postponed it to August. So
yeah, everything's being rescheduled, but it's just, hey, it's the right call, especially in
the environment that we're in when people are having to make the choice on, hey, I got to spend
how much a gallon the, you know, a diesel is out. Yeah. So so I commend all the way around
because you're getting people before they even have to either make the decision or made the
decision to roll the rig. So kudos. I think that's great. So I was stunned. I normally never talk
about gas prices, right? Like, you know, they've gone up, right? And during the pandemic, they were
high, they were low. You know, like it is what it is. And it's tough. But when I went to put gas in
the rental car, 87 octane was like 530 or something. And I was pretty stunned at that. I was like,
what was it here was 549 9 for 87 609 9 for 89 and 659 9 for 93. Now that's by the airport in
Chicago. So I'm sure you can find it a little cheaper than that. But man, that will that will
mess with some people out there. So yes, you have to think about, are we going to make everybody
come to the race and just sit here and we're going to kill them on every because that might
that's money. They won't get back. So I think it is kind of a smart decision for people. And
you know, like the whole war ran and the straight of horror moves. And will that be figured out?
And it gets figured out. But but doesn't matter right now. We're in the middle of it. So yeah,
again, prices are where they're at right now. And I just think it was it was a good thing
that they did. Now SGMP, they knew they were looking at it that it was probably going to be a day.
And, you know, the people came out. That was a fantastic event. I'll still go back to, you
know, my goodness, they did such a great job at that event. But that was a different circumstance.
What you're looking at right now is you are looking at basically washed out, you know, that's
got to start out and dangerous. Also winds and yeah, winds and maybe tornadoes. So unfortunately,
we'll, at least we got something to watch, right?
On the pole, Alexander Rossi in the middle of the front row, and
David McCakis on the outside of the front row. And I would love to read you the rest,
but it's so small on this. Here we go. But Alexander Rossi was involved in a practice
crash the other day. So this car got torn up. Felix Rosenquist, Santino Ferrucci, Pato Orore,
no row two, Kaifan Simpson, Connor Daley, Scott McLaughlin, row three, Scott Dixon,
Rina's VK, Takuma Sado, row four, Ed Carpenter, Elio Castroneva is looking for his on the unprecedented
fifth win. Remember that guys, that's always out there floating. Elio could get one done.
And Christian Rasmussen, you can find the rest of it online if you'd like. But it is
the Indy 500. Catherine Lag is in there. She's trying to do the double. She's trying to do the
double. Yep. First woman. Dude, double. Stingray Rob, who everybody just loves to say the name,
Stingray Rob. And he's on the inside of the last row of the start of the Indy 500. Mick Schumacher
are going to be in the race, Graham Ray, all going to be in the race. All your favorites,
all your fun Indy car drivers out there as we get ready for the greatest spectacle in racing
happening on Sunday. Bobby says had to start cutting grass every other day,
even farm diesel is $5 a gallon. Wow. Oh, yeah, it's tough. It's tough. Very tough. It's brutal.
That doesn't even have the fuel tax. Oh, yeah. And it's and then by the way, I mean, it could
like that's the thing. I'm not to get into that topic, but we don't really know how long this
is going to last. So maybe you need to squirrel away some, too. Now, if you're professional,
that's a different thing. You got for once, I think our fuel's nearly cheaper than yours.
Get out. Really? Get out. Yeah. Yeah. How is your fuel cheaper?
We're getting it out of Singapore. I don't know. We don't refine. We've only got two refineries here.
Oh, like where does your oil come from? It comes from here. We send it over there. Then they send
it back to us. Makes sense to them. Oh my gosh. No, well, that's your problem. You guys got to
figure out how to refine. We're in about where you don't have any space is the problem. You have
no space to refine oil. Yeah. Yeah, that's right in the middle, man. You just put those refineries
right in the middle. No, we had we had about 10 Joe and and somebody decided to shut them down
because it would be better to get it out of Singapore than make it ourselves. But we won't
go down that rabbit hole. That's a rabbit hole. Well, don't go down that rabbit hole. But we did
too with our manufacturing, you know, you could make the same argument through the 1980s. And we
do all these things for ourselves. And then we realized, oh, that was done. Meanwhile, middle
school Joe Castel was screaming at his classmates about purchasing, you know, cars that weren't
built in America. And they thought I wasn't coming back then to try filling up my truck every
day. Yeah. So you're about $6 a gallon for for unleaded or for normal gasoline.
87 octane was 5, 549. Right. What about a 90 sort of octane? 93 octane was 650.
Holy hell. Okay. American dollars. Yeah. Yeah. But but again, by the airport thing, I want
everybody to know that that's like, you know, they always jack it up when it's right next to
where they you're dropping off the rental cars. They know that you got nowhere else to go. You're
coming in empty and they're going to stick it to you if you're by the airport. So I bet I could
have found it for like 40 cents cheaper somewhere else. Hmm. Dude, it's five bucks for premium here.
Is it? It's over five by you. Oh, just five bucks, 45 bucks for premium.
Yeah. I buy premium.
Yeah, five bucks. Yeah, like, yeah, like between $450 and $5, depending on where you're pumping,
you know, from the cheap to the to the premium. Listen, this is one of those deals like it is
what it is, guys. Like you're welcome to not drive. It is what it is, public transportation. You
know, maybe you want to get $10 a gallon and I'm going to go fill up the tank and I'm going to be
like, damn, that's expensive because I don't have a choice. I'm not paying those fuel bills,
but I'm not adding the surcharges to the bills. Yeah. I got to say, by the way, that Joe's little
picture with the yellow yellow, what is that, 2019? That's like Joe. That's gone back. Yeah.
That picture. Yeah, it's like 17, 18. I don't know where it's pulling that picture from.
So it's like, Joe looks like he's like 15 years old in that picture. I look the same.
All right. So let's bring on Kevin who did his walk for greatness. Kevin.
Hello. I wish to congratulate you. 123
Yeah. You're sound good. This is today.
Told the chip monks that we had to have a tight show today and they're abiding by our
wishes. Well, first of all, I want to thank everybody that contributed.
So far, I have raised 1100 and a little over 1100. The link is still active
till the end of the month. I'll post it here a couple of times before then.
All right. So listen, there was a bit of a controversy before the show. You've got to
answer a question. Sure. Okay. So we already know based on what you've posted that you were the
number one individual when it comes to fundraising, correct? Correct. So you win.
The way I look at it, the WFO universe put this guy over the top and everybody that
raised more money than you was part of a group or a team or something like that.
Right. Correct. That's a big deal. The question was, did you actually complete the walk this time?
Oh, so
Full transparency. There's too much delay in that answer.
Full transparency. They had a little introduction and they had some people
singing a stretching thing doing Zoom, but anyway, started to get later than I had
thought it was going to get. I had a commitment at noontime. So the MC person said, okay,
it's time to walk. We're starting over there. And each time around the park is a one K.
So if you're going to do the five K, you're going to go five times around or 43
21 or you don't have to walk at all. And I was like, okay, I'll give it one time around.
So I did one K. And then I left to do my stuff the rest of the day.
That's the true story. I don't know what other story is going around, but that's the truth.
Well, last year, you did the same thing. And we were just joking about, like last year,
you did the one time around, I'm okay with it. You raised money for a great charitable source.
And you did it there. You got out there and you helped a lot of people. So that's
two years in a row. And you won. Correct. Yep. I get a pin when they can find them the bag of them.
Wonderful. No, they were impressed with me because I had a donor from Down Under,
donor from Canada, donor from a lot of other states. You got an international following.
Correct. Well, I think it's tremendous. Good job. I had a race team reach out that I had to
go to Joe to find out who they were and make sure I thank them.
Yeah, team underdog from a factory stock showdown. You know, there's actually Nash,
Ray Nash, I think listens to that. He might listen to this show. I think he does.
Or he is just a member of the WFO Facebook group, which when I looked him up, I found out that
he's driving a Challenger, which is a I'm a Mopar guy. So that was a good, a good fit. So
it looks like I just learned something new. I didn't know you were a Mopar guy.
I did not realize. Yeah, I much prefer them more than anything else.
So they're going to be racing in Bristol, which brings me to my next topic.
Right. The next time we see the factory stock guys are in Bristol.
Yes, Bristol. I was just having a conversation with Mark Palak, who has got that new Dodge
Charger out there and is, you know, they're slowly figuring it out. But yeah, so hopefully
Saturday morning at the latest, I will be in my car on Interstate 80 heading east
with my goal of being in Maryland in time for the Potomac Nationals.
Oh, you're going to Potomac Nationals? Yes, sir.
And then why you're going to go to Bristol also?
Then I'm going to go to Epping.
I like to hang out with your friend.
Right. Well, I'm from two and a half hours up the road
to where I was born and raised. So and I've never been to Epping for a race.
So anyway, so I'm going to go there and then since I got to get back to California
and Bristol's pretty much on the way, I'm going to go to Bristol too.
Oh my God, this guy's going on the track. That's awesome.
And then my good friend Frisky suggested that I also on my way back since it's the 100th day
on the first three of this Route 66 that I go up to Chicago and take Route 66 back.
But I did a little investigating last night.
To do it and do it right, you need to, you know, need at least eight or 10 days.
They recommend 10 to 12 days. And I can't spend that much time because
I have to be back in California because at the end of June is the NASCAR event out of Sonoma,
which I will be at. Oh, come back to Sonoma.
I will say I got to spend a little time on Route 66 for the 100th anniversary.
I took Route 66 a couple of times this past weekend past the Route 66 signs.
I was going to stop and do a selfie. I decided against it.
Now I'm regretting it, but that's okay. That's okay. I was on it.
You guys know I was in there. But the 100th anniversary of Route 66, pretty amazing.
Well, good job, Kevin. Congratulations.
Thank you. I get a couple comments about this weekend's race.
Did somebody turn up the knob or the trash talking knob?
I mean, you know, other than Austin having problem with the wind because of the double bob,
you know, and then that guy calling out and bring on another champ.
And then there was a couple of other zingers, man, throughout the day.
The wind comes in the double bulb.
That's what he said. I know. That was awesome.
Go back and listen. That's what he said.
I did. I heard him. It was awesome.
And we have a past. He goes, you know, him and me, we've got a past.
And it's, yeah, well, there's a whole bunch.
And then there was the tail wind might have, you know, caused the double bulb.
Exactly. And then he said earlier,
he was talking about somebody and he said something about it's hard to work with parts
that look like they're from China. They're Chinese parts.
Yes. I don't think that go over very good with the foreign people. I don't think so.
We didn't even double back on that.
Because I think when Austin said it, I know that he was just making an observation like,
you know, like we don't know what they are.
It was just an analogy.
But when you really think about it in the context of Ford using Chinese parts, like,
so we let the kid off the hook, at least I did.
I know exactly what he was, you know, he was hyped up for, you know,
because what he done, you know, what he was, you know, we had won some rounds and stuff.
So, you know, I understand that, but I just, because I was wondering if it was just me that
thought about that. But anyway,
the Austin JR thing, there's a lot of intrigue there.
They are, you know, both great. And they're both, you know, young men,
there's some alpha stuff going on there, you know, of course.
So we'll just have to see how it goes. And Joe Serena,
Chad Green is going to be on to play the video. Derek, Derek, good job. D-Rail.
I asked for the video clips in Monday Motivation today and he went and he delivered the video
clips just like that. Great stuff. D-Rail, get it done.
Bring us another champion to defeat.
And then I got a comment about Pearl Scott.
The elite struggles for a year and a half, at least. And then in a race and a half,
they're all of a sudden as good as KB was and KB's were elite was.
KB was struggling. KB was struggling this weekend. They weren't, they weren't throwing down like
they had been, but elite finally caught on to something. But even like you heard Courtney
I was glad to see it. Courtney's gone. I bought tickets to this movie. Yeah, I heard it.
Let me see how this plays out in the end. Courtney is, Courtney is a trip, man. I love that girl.
Yes. Courtney is a trip. She was, you know, the, the F's given as well. Yes.
I seem to do okay without JLo. We did all right. We were sad. We missed our friend.
We missed our friend. Friday was terrible. I didn't realize he'd been doing that for 25 years,
Joe. Yes. Way back to the 90s, more than 24 years. His first race was in 1996. And so we
missed him terribly. There were some areas that, you know, we'll figure it out. The music coming
and going, but the funny quips, the conversation. That's the part that I missed the most. We're
down a man, right? We're down a man who knows everybody and we know, and knows the inside
stories. And also JLo could get away with saying a lot of stuff that I can't say and Galvin can't
say. Right. Right. People get mad if I say it, but if JLo says it, it's like, ah, JLo, he doesn't.
He's the, he was the jester, right? In a way, yeah, he was, he was the jester. And we miss him,
but he's got a great gig and he's going to go on to, you know, great things and hopefully
will hire me in a few years once he gets that thing rolling. Right. And then we'll be missing you,
Joe. There it is. But no, it was, it was a good, good event all around. Very exciting. And yeah,
the trash talk, the, who was it who said that Chicago is the race where you realize that you're
now in the season. The start of the season is over. It is the end of the beginning of the season.
And it is the beginning of the middle of the season. And here we are. We got Memorial Day
this weekend, but then we're going to do three in a row. The Potomac Nationals, a new race.
Then we're going to go to New England, which is a great race, usually a sellout or sold out
some way or another. You know, old school track, very, you know, vibes oriented. There's no sweets
there, Kevin. There's no nothing. You're just walking around on pavement and watching drag
racing. There's nothing there. I'm aware of that when I've got my ticket. So there's nothing there.
And, uh, except the food, you know, I don't know where you're staying, but there's great food.
There's great. I'm in Portsmouth. Okay. You're in Portsmouth. Excellent. Um, and then, uh,
Bristol, which Bristol's always, you know, a banger. I haven't done anything about, oh,
I found an Airbnb. Oh, what? No, I found an Airbnb room and an Airbnb. Yeah, supposedly is a
mile from the track. Okay. It's 80. It's right at close to 100. By the time it's done with tax and
everything, it's right at $100 a night. Good luck. So what happen we do when you don't show up? What do
we do? Well, when I don't, oh, what's that? This is the third time that I've done this, Joe. So
you're not doing to share a room. When I go down the road and I don't, and I don't hear any ban,
Joe's, I'll be okay. Well, see, you said it. I've been watching from Maine, man. We can, you know,
you'll be all right. And we're cousin to those, you know, the hillbillies down south,
the Appalachian trail. All right. I'm excited about Bristol always. Bristol's a great race.
Yeah. I, uh, I saw that the date was the week after and I was just like, crap,
I'll be passing right by there. You know, so,
and I get to spend a few days in DC for the, you know, it's a 250th and I haven't been there since
I was a teenager. So it'll be good to get around and check out DC for a couple of days before.
I'm going to hang out with my friend Bill in DC a little bit. Also, I lived there for a little while
and I love the capital. So yeah, Potomac National is going to be great. All right. Good job, Kevin.
Good job. All right. Let's, let's get to sports collision going on. Let's get Giovanni in on this
deal and get us up to speed as the hockey is on. The, uh, the Montreal Canadians are up two to one
over Buffalo as the second, uh, period is about to expire and they could tie it up here. Six seconds
to go. I'm behind. Thank you. We got dramatic there for a moment. Yeah. But remembering hockey,
the puck has to cross before the, it's not like basketball. It has to cross before. All right.
Giovanni, we'll take us through sports collision. Yes. Like we discussed earlier,
the NHL is down to the final five and game seven in the Eastern Conference is going on right now
and Joe just gave you the sports two to one Canadians over the Sabres and the second intermission.
So we got one period to go to determine who is going to play against the Carolina Hurricanes
for the Eastern Conference championship. And then on the other side, we've got Colorado and
Vegas. I believe those are the last two teams that won the cup over in the Western Conference. So
we're down to, like I said, final three have been decided and, uh, the fourth team will be, uh,
shortly decided it within the next half hour to 45 minutes. And so, uh, hockey final four, the NBA
is also down to its final four, where yesterday the Cleveland Cavaliers embarrassed the Detroit
Pistons at home in another game seven, the only one in that round. And so they have moved on to
face the New York Knickerbockers and that will be tomorrow, Tuesday night, game one. And on the
Western Conference, we've got the two best teams, uh, all season long out there between San Antonio
and okay city. And, uh, game one is going on right now. And I believe that is, uh, still in the first
half, early, in the middle of the second period. And then, uh, San Antonio has got a slight lead
about five points right now. So, uh, that's what's going on in the NBA. We're down to the final four
there too. And, uh, a little tennis action started over there in France this weekend, uh, yesterday.
That'll be just the beginning now. We've got the early rounds going on for the French Open.
And, uh, WNBA action is in full swing. The MLB, everybody's played about 45 to 48 games already.
So we're almost a third into the season just like that. And, uh, yeah, the Yankees have, uh,
gone through a terrible spell. They're three and seven in their last 10. The relief pitching,
the bullpen has been an abortion, so to speak. And, uh, you know, that's, that's gonna happen.
So hopefully they're able to do something because they don't have a closer right now. They need
middle relief. They need a closer. The two guys that they have closing games are more like setup
men. They're not real, I don't know. They don't want to appear to be very good at this closing.
They're, they're not very reliable, so to speak. But, uh, that's what's going on around the sports
world. Um, I'm not sure, you know, a little soccer action going on. The World Cup is coming to the
U.S. starting in June, June 11th, I believe is when the first games get underway. But, uh,
not just here, it's going to be here, Canada and Mexico. So, uh, it's the World Cup of the Americas.
And, uh, they've announced they're going to have a, uh, halftime show.
That's right. The first time ever in the final, I don't understand why they need to have a halftime
show. I know a few World Cups back, they started doing that, uh, water intermission for a two or
three minute break. Uh, I think that started when they were out there in Qatar in the middle of the
desert, that they had to actually change the World Cup from the summer to like October and
November because it's, you know, they didn't want the players to just die on the field.
But, uh, yeah, they decided to do a halftime show in the final game, in the championship game,
which I believe is scheduled to be over there at, uh, MetLife Stadium, where the Jets and the
Giants play. And, um, yeah, that's about all I got. I don't know if you got anything in particular.
Well, the P, the guy who wears two gloves, won the PGA championship.
Aaron, Aaron Ray. Oh, yeah. Yeah. British dude.
First British dude.
107 years or something there. Matt, how do you feel about that?
Yeah, I was yesterday and, oh, you know what? The, the ponies ran this week in the Preakness,
which was, it's kind of lost its luster a little bit because now it's, it's, it's a new trend for
like the team, the horse that wins the Kentucky Derby has not raced in the Preakness now for a
few years in a row. And I, you know, I guess, look, I'm all for the safety of these horses,
but I don't know what's going on with these horses now. The, the thoroughbreds are becoming like
the youth of America. They're soft. They can't run the triple crown anymore. And, but I think it's
bad for the sport because the casual horse race, unless you're a degenerate, the casual sports fan
or the casual fan in general only really pays attention to the horse racing for the triple crown.
And so any favors by not, by the top horses that race at the Derby all take the Preakness off
to get ready for the Balmah. I mean, you know, what are we going to do? It's, I feel like I'm
screaming here at everybody get off my lawn, but
I know you're right. I'm, I'm there with you screaming like the triple crown is the thing.
It's not just the Kentucky Derby. It's the Derby, but the triple crown. I remember California
Chrome was a big deal to go to see it. It didn't work out, but, but we, we all went like, could
it happen? And a couple years later, it ended up happening, but that's the, that's the ticket,
all horse racing benefits from that, all the paramutals, all the tracks,
all benefit when you got someone running for the triple crown. All right, good job, Gio,
sports collision. Matt in Australia, you want to do your Australia, your, your high intensity
Australia report? Certainly. On that comment about the English, I'm not sure, but just to
shout out to Kev, the, the Santa pod English drag racing season has just started in the last
couple of weeks as well. They've had some, some pretty big meetings. All right,
all super cars are on this weekend in Australia. They've come back from New Zealand. They're down
in the, the Apollo, which is Tasmania, which is the island off the south of Australia there.
The only, the only island past that point in the, on the earth is, is the South Pole. So that's on
this weekend. What else have I got? IHRA in Australia here have now become the sanctioning body for
Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin. They've announced just this week that all Andra license holders
their licenses will be covered by IHRA until the, the end of 2026, which has been,
been accepted pretty, pretty well and appreciated. Quick shout out to Troy, Troy from Oregon gave
me a call yesterday while he was traveling back from some racetrack to talk me through my race
weekend after I showed him the video of what happened in my last run. I don't know if you've
spoken to him, Joe, but or any of you guys have, but he is doing some announcing. That's for sure
from what he was telling me. And he's looking forward to catching up. I think he's doing Sonoma
with you. Is he going to do Sonoma? I believe Seattle, Seattle, definitely. Seattle, sorry.
Seattle. Yeah, we got Cody Kirksey. Cody's a good guy who does Sonoma. He is the local region
must be Seattle. Seattle. No, Troy's the guy. Troy's in Seattle. Okay. So there you go. And
I dropped something on his, on his podcast last week, suggesting that Willow Bank Raceway,
which is up in Queensland, have reached out to him about possibly coming back down under
for the internationals, which is on in three weeks time. Wow. So that will be,
that would be interesting. See what he thinks of Willow Bank. Willow Bank is a super quick track,
but it was, I don't know how to describe it compared to an American track. Maybe it's big,
like the, the, the area it takes up, but more like a, from what you've told me, more like an
it's a track that was built in the early 80s. It's had some upgrades. It's had a lot of money
spent on it by the government. It's on government land, but the control tower and the corporate
sort of suites and everything else is still very old school. Right. Buildings are the
buildings are old school. That's probably the best way to put it. Think about a drag strip is
really you just needed drag strip. Yeah, true. True. And it's, you know, as I said, the track
surface was, I think they got $14 million from the state government and federal government
about two or three years ago. And they did a lot of upgrades to the facilities as far as the
bathrooms and resurface the track and put in, put in some extra bathrooms and stuff like that.
But yeah, see what he thinks. And then just to put a exclamation mark on my racing weekend.
Fantastic again. And thank you for all the WFO universe that reached out.
We, we tighten up the whole package a couple of thou from our last meeting.
So the split from our slowest run to our fastest run was 0.025 in the second.
Our split on our 60 foot times was five thou and split on our mile an hour was a variance of only
0.3 of a mile an hour. So and we, and we PB'd with a new 811 was our new PB at 166 mile an hour.
So a good weekend, directionally correct as Mr. Lyon would say, which I like that saying.
Good job. It's not really good, but yeah, just a scary moment there. And when I don't want to
experience again or put my family or crew through, that's for sure.
But you did a good job with that. You did fantastic, mate.
Big, big Cole, who you know, Joe, who you met. He's been helping us out, doing a great,
like being fantastic, helping me with the data acquisition and, and learning me with the race pack.
Who was that? What is that noise that you? Who is that? Who's counting coins?
I'm sorry. It's Kevin. So he's counting these money. He's got to be bagging it.
All right. I mean, you know, you know what that is, Joe? That was the sound.
I'll just say, I'll just say take, take care of your friends and family and look out for others.
And we'll see you later, folks. There he goes.
The three consecutive wins.
He's counting all that charity money. That's what he's counting.
He's rolling those coins, baby. He's rolling up the coins. This is what he's doing.
Gio, Gio was the South Pacific Paisos. I sent him. That's what he was trying to work out.
So anyway, big Cole put his arm around me, walking back to the,
walking back from time cards and said, please don't do that to me ever again.
So I shan't, I shan't be doing that again. Good.
Anyway, and just yet again, thanks to everyone from in the WFO universe that,
that reached out and congratulated and praised and supported. It was great. Appreciate you all.
