"But it actually flew again within two years and and there were scheduled flights with Concorde. But then then 9/11 happened and then the the airline industry, you know, went down the toilet and then there was just a combination of things. And yeah, it only flew for another two or three years, but but it was from memory, I would have said it was the crash at the at Paris airport that actually finished it all, but it wasn't."
"...stion #10 this is a car we all know and love, the PT Cruiser. What do the letters PT stand for?"

There's a professional radio. That's front wheel drive.
Have you got anyone you want to thank?
Just myself. And now I do the after hours,
gentlemen. What would you go for?
They see us in there. OK.
And because it's not a super duck, it is.
It's not. Automatic perfection comes in
the form of two letters A&U. Long live my Ltd.
Welcome to Car Talk. It's Tuesday night here in 98.9
NW FM. It's me, Maddie J, in the studio
with Chad and Allen and online with Scooter Do Johnson.
Adrian De Giorgio, How are you guys?
Good. Thank you very much.
Good to see all your lovely faces.
How are we going? What's been happening?
A few people are back from overseas, so Scotty and and Adrian back from Japan. Yes, yes, I am back.
Did you go as well, Scotty? Yeah, I just came back on
Sunday. Oh nice, how long did you go
for? Two weeks.
Oh, you went up just as I got back.
Yeah, I, I saw, I think Maddie was was mentioning that what kind of overlap? You've just come back and then I
go. How'd you find it?
Best place ever. I know, right?
It's pretty. Unanimous.
Yeah, it's a very, it's a very unanimous decision.
Can we all just go move there and just live there?
It's gonna happen. I'll tell you what, I'm half
tempted. It's like you're already there,
Adrian. Yeah, your background.
No, Yep, gotta have it going. And then we moved there and we
experienced a good old Japanese racism.
And we moved back here. Look at these Gaisians and just
leave us alone. Bloody Gaisians.
Yeah. I mean, when I went out, I I
loved it. And I know, I know you got.
I think we've all been to Japan. That's one thing we've we can
all say. We've all, we've all been there.
Yeah. Brothers, Japan brothers, no
brothers in in trouble. So we'll start with Adrian
because you were there. You went there for four weeks, I
believe. Yeah, I was there for a month
for. A month?
How did you go Tell Tell us a little bit about your trip.
What was happening? Where do I start?
Like it was just, the whole trip was just awesome.
We, we did a little bit of everything, which is what I liked out of it. It wasn't like your standard,
you know, Japan trip that people do, which is they go to Tokyo and they sit there for two weeks kind of thing.
Are you hating Adrian? Are you hating on me?
Are you? Yeah.
You think you're better than me? 100% now we went everywhere.
We drive up to Ebisu, we did the drift taxi up there.
That was just insane. The the driver that we had, I
kind of, I think I offended him because I, I didn't realise who we had as a driver. Turns out that he's the Japanese
Formula D champion, 2022 and 2023, and he's a lot better at driving, like drifting in the rain compared to in the dry.
And when we were up there, it was raining.
So I said to him, I'm like, you know, is it OK, you're trying to drift in the rain? Because I know, like, normally
here, when you see people drifting in the rain, they bin it. And he didn't understand what I
was talking about. But then I'm in the car.
Well, we're in the car with him. And he was just, it was nuts.
He knew exactly where to go, what to do.
And afterwards I thought, oh, we'll just see what he's like.
Yeah, we'll see who he is. Search him up on Instagram.
And that's when I found out who he was.
And I'm like you're. Like I was second guessing this
guy. So I was just like, yeah, OK,
fair enough. He's he's part of Team Orange
and I'm like, OK, I'm fair enough.
Well, no, what actually really happened and this is the truth.
He he said to he rocked up in a skyline or so.
No, he rocked up in AR-35 GTA. He's like, and you're like the
sort of supercar. And then and then he was
confused. He said you did that too.
That's how you were fed to the major.
Let's be honest. Like in all seriousness, in the
garage we saw a 400Z and we're like, oh that's pretty cool.
You know, we didn't realise that was actually his thrift car that he competes in now. Oh cool.
He had they had the Magesta 110 out fast to jump in, but he loved what we rocked up in we we, we went up in the century.
Oh cool. Out of out of all cars, we're
just like, yeah, we'll, we'll take that up there.
Yeah, Something nice and luxurious, but yeah.
How'd you get your hands on a century?
There's a place where you hire cars from over.
There. Oh, cool, nice.
It's. It's called Omaran.
They're in Noda, so they're just out of Tokyo.
They do all the, like all the sports cars, it's in everything.
33 GDRS, 34 GDRS, same as 30 fives mark 5 Supras, Mr Twos, you name it, they they do it all Evos.
So yeah, we, we hired 5 cars from them while we're over there to start off with was that century and we, we had that for a few days when we went up, we went up to Fukushima as well, which was really cool going up there.
We found a a little hidey hole of a lookout.
Did you grow another like leg from the from the radiation?
Or there's no radiation up there, which was good.
We'll, we'll making sure of that.
He had a guy get counter going, yeah.
That, that was actually pretty cool.
Then yeah, we came back, we jumped in the three cars.
So I was in ARX 8, one of my mates was in AMR 2 and then the last mate he was in a 400 and. Ten.
Oh cool. And we went up the mountains, we
went up Mount Haruna, Mount Akagi, just kept going up those mountains. And that was, if I have to say
it's a bucket list trip, that's an understatement.
But driving those mountains in sports cars with your mates, that's just another level. Like I, I, I can't explain how
good it felt to be driving those mountains in Japanese sports cars. Like it's as a car person, you
just can't beat it. Yeah.
So we were there like going up those mountains for like 4 days.
Then what we do after that we dropped the cars back off we went and got the last car was supposed to be which was a Evo 8. We drove that to Mount Hikone
which that car just kept dying. It's like it had a a boost leak
with an ignition cut. It was just not driving well.
Well, we're trying to accelerate in boost and it just kept bucking. My head went almost through the
windshield like it was, it was just terrible.
So we managed to baby that car. We went past Mount Fuji, Fuji
Speedway. We went to Kyoto, Osaka.
We did the carts there as well the the street carts, which is a must. That was a lot of fun.
We went past Liberty Walk where my mouth dropped.
I I love Liberty Walk cars, there's just something about them. And even though Liberty Walk is
a majority of R30 fives, I think now I've started to get a bit of a passion for them too. Supercar.
I'm not saying anything to that one because they I'm starting to like those cars, especially in Liberty Walk form.
They, they were everywhere over there and I loved it.
Then when we came back to Tokyo side, we told the company that we hired the car from that the car's not running right.
So we dropped that off and we just ended up, you can go to Toyota, rent a We went back up Mount Oconee and that and yeah, enjoyed every second of that. And then what really made the
trip special, I will say is we went to Liberty Walk in Tokyo and of course I'm froughing it. So I'm just about buying the
whole shop. I bought that much stuff in
there. It wasn't funny.
And one of the guys that was there that was working, he was like, oh, so you like Liberty Walk?
And I like, I love Liberty Walk. He's like, oh, well, there's a
car show happening and you should go.
And we're like, OK, when? And he's like, well, it starts
in half an hour. And I'm like, oh, OK, well,
where is it? And end up being 10 minutes from
our hotel in Takahama. So we were speeding down the
Expressway and playing Wang Gang in real life.
Oh, I was not slowing down for no one.
And yeah, we, we ended up going to this car show.
And I have to say it was one of the best things I did in Japan, like driving the Wangan at night time.
That was awesome. Driving the mountains was
awesome. But this car show was just I, I
don't even know how to explain it.
It was next level. So like we went to Dico as well.
Dico is cool as I've got the background there as well.
It's cool. But this car show had 40 to 50
Liberty War cars that were there.
And we were like, that's grass. We they had a full warehouse.
Like it was like a a boating shed kind of thing.
Full of all the. Exhibitors, so like Raise
Wheels, Work Wheels, SSR, they had advanced HKS, like all the name brands that were there. And we're like, we've never seen
a car show like this. And then to top it off, there
was, I'd have to say about 700 cars there and they were all like just Brandon people's cars. But the quality, just the
quality of the cars, it's just, it's nothing like here.
Well, like even though like we have, you know, the diversity of cars say like we get more of the muscle cars here.
We've got the Aussie cars. It's the quality of cars that
were over there that just blew my mind because it like everything was had body kits, had rims were basically Immaculate. And this is just random people.
Yeah. So like that, that was just
absolutely nuts to see. We, we filmed a majority of it
because I brought my camera up. So we were there for two hours,
I think it was from 5:00 till 7:00 and we still didn't get to see all the cars. But we were exhausted by then
because it was 30 plus degrees every day.
Oh, it was nuts, but. Where was it, Adrian?
Where was that show? And like was it?
It wasn't. Yokohama up here, Yeah.
Cool. So it was 10 minutes from DICO.
Yeah, that's crazy. Which was, that was, there's a
funny 1:00 we, we were leaving the, the, the car show and they didn't have any out of all places, they didn't have any vending machines down the back of the, that, that pier, which if you go to Japan, vending machines are everywhere.
Everywhere, yeah. So we ended up having to go back
to the mall where I found a vending machine and I drank the last bottle of water that they had because then they sold out.
So we're like, oh, what do we do?
Do we go back to the hotel or do we get Daiko?
Because Daiko was like 10 minutes down the road and I'm like, look, I want to drive Daiko, so I'm happy to go down.
And my mates were like, all right, we'll go.
We'll see what's there. Well, it was full.
Just. Full of cars.
We we just couldn't believe it. Like it was exactly like what
you see in every video ever, like of Daiko.
It was just nuts. So yeah, we had four weeks of
just just pure fun it. Sounds like you had a great time
dude. That sounds awesome.
I'm spewing them back. Yeah, I had that same feeling
like when I when I touched down in Melbourne, I was happy to be home and I was just like. It's it's just just different
over there. Like I loved it.
I even the driving like on the WAM gang, all the expressways, it's just different to hear I struggle, I'm struggling.
Did you feel the same way, Scotty?
Like so obviously, Yeah. We'll, we'll talk.
We'll talk about you and your trip now.
You were there for two weeks. You did similar things.
How was your experience? What did you get up to?
I'll try and keep it to just some of the car stuff because we did a lot of, you know, we checked out Osaka Castle.
I got a samurai experience. Yeah, I did.
Himeji. Yeah.
Cool. Wow.
Which which samurai experience did you do?
There was one in Kyoto. Yeah, so we were gonna do that
one as sold, but instead I found a place where you can actually make a knife in the same way that I.
Saw you could do that. I saw that popped up.
Yeah, yeah, we did that one instead.
It was actually pretty cool. It was in the middle of the
mountains too, in some guy's garage.
So yeah, I got to use that and use that samurai sword.
That was that was a really good experience because you got to see the professional do it as well.
So car stuff related, in Osaka there was a place called Mr Hero Car Studio that I found that was that was awesome.
I had a whole lot of cars underneath that you could, you know, you could take out and drive if you wanted to, to book in. And then on the top, on the top
level, they had the simulators. Racing simulators.
Yeah. Cool.
So I got to have, we got those on the racing simulators.
Pretty generous with the times. So I just did 30 minutes.
But when you decide to change car and change track, he pauses the time so it doesn't continue. Oh cool.
That's cool. So you know, at any point where
you're like, I've had enough of this, you can just say OK, and he'll come over and get it ready and you choose your next car and what track you want and he has time.
And then when time ran out, I thought, OK, that's it.
And stopped. He goes, no, finish your lap.
So I've got to at least finish the laps.
They're pretty, pretty generous. So I drove.
Yeah, cool spot, isn't it? I drove what was that 32 GDR
first around Suzuka and then I tried to chase her around Sukuba on the simulator and then an Evo 8 around the same one.
That's sick you. Didn't do Fuji Speedway.
No, I went, we went to mount to Mount Fuji, but I didn't.
I didn't hire a car or anything. I got to see the mountain for a
little bit before clouds came over.
Isn't that the worst? Yeah, it's more than some of us.
We had a hotel hotel room that looked over the whole view.
It was like a traditional, traditional room.
And I had the view of Mount Fuji.
And that night there was I couldn't see it at all.
And then that morning I had to see a little part of it.
But on that first day that we went there, we were climbing up to top of a shrine. We hide some E bikes and went
for a cruise around to find a spot for the photos that everyone goes to goes. To Yeah.
And it wasn't too far away, so we'd hide an E bike and whizzed around and went up the top. And for that little like 5
minutes, if that, we got to see Mount Fuji before the clouds came straight back. We got a bit, we got a couple
photos and then also in the Shinkansen coming back from Osaka to Tokyo, it was. Oh.
You can see it perfectly, It was nice and clear.
I went to an up garage. That one was wasn't big.
They didn't have too much though, it was more in the way of wheels and tyres. Which one did you go to?
There was one somewhere in Where were We?
I think it was it was somewhere in Osaka.
It was one that I just found. I thought it's not too far away
from a hotel, so I thought we checked that one out.
Because it sounds like the one that I went to.
Oh it wasn't, it was across the road was one of the auto box as well. Not too far.
Yeah, yeah, that's the one that we went to.
That auto box wasn't very good either.
It was really. No it.
Was shit. Like it was like a super cheap
auto that one. Yep.
Yeah. And then we went to in Tokyo,
the Super Autobux, the a Pit, Super Autobux.
The A pit, yes. That was the best one.
How cool are they? That had everything imaginable
and that's where I bought like tonnes of T-shirts and things so and then. Fun, fun facts for you as well.
You know, that a pit that you went to, if you went to the one in Nagoya, I think it was, no, in Kyoto, that one there is bigger again than the one that you went to.
They have an actual Starbucks and a a bookstore inside it as well. Yeah.
Yeah, that's what this one had that had Starbucks inside it.
It was not. I know, I know what you're
talking about. It is awesome.
Yes, I had yeah, Starbucks in there where just had a had a snack before I went on my journey of having a look and then it's like 2 levels. So on the bottom floor.
Yeah, it had like bookshop and other car bits and it had shirts and that you could buy. It had shoes.
So it had the they're pretty big on a baths over there.
Yeah, they are, yes. So in the because it's tuning
shop as well. So at the very bottom I saw
three a baths in there getting worked on.
So I was like, OK, and then inside there you could buy a bath luggage. You can buy a bath shoes as
well, leather gloves, a bath leather glove, GTR shoes.
Jeez. And then and then you've got all
the books. So I'm talking you can find a
book on any car that you want. And I did.
I found one on the Toyota Blade. Let's see.
It's had everything all about Toyota Blade.
If yeah, if you've got a Japanese car, you're going to find a book. It's not just the.
Purposely on it. It wasn't just the Japanese
ones. I've because I know which books
you're talking about. I think I've got one for the
three series. You can I've.
Found the next 5 on as well. There was ones that you could
get on all the euro cars you could ever, ever want and ever think of. And then I thought, Oh my
goodness, this is so good. And I go, oh, there's an
upstairs. Then you go upstairs and that's
where it's got all the tuning companies.
As soon as I went up there, it was HKS right in my face with a GDR motor just sitting there with all HKS parts on it.
So I bought a few HKS stuff and then in each Bay running along, you've got all your tuning companies, such as, you know, Toyota's got TID. So you've got TID section, Nismo
section, you've got the Rally Arts section, STI section.
Just all the way along, running all the way, just all those bits and pieces they sell. You know, Honda was pretty big.
There's quite a lot of Honda stuff in there too.
And then all on the left hand side is all exhausts that you can buy, turbos, like you name it, you'd be able to get it from that place. It was absolutely insane.
And that's yeah, that's where I got tonnes of my T shirts where I got actual original Kei Chi SU Chi AT shirt that's got their Drift King T shirt, that's cool. Endless Breaks T shirt.
I got a Nismo T shirt. All the T shirts.
Going crazy with all the T-shirts.
I got a stack of them, so that was awesome.
And I got HKS like slip ONS, HK slip ONS, HKS towel.
It's like, I was like, Oh my God.
He rocks up to the he rocks up to his accommodation.
They're like, oh, here's your towel.
Sorry, I don't need one of those.
Yeah. I don't need them, I've got my
own now. Did you?
Did you see that the. Towel will go like you can you
wipe yourself? Sequential HKS flow.
Did you see that in that apron as well that they had the 50th anniversary HS boot mats there as well?
Yeah, I saw they had that and the floor, floor mats and things as well. Yeah, A.
Little bit cheaper than you'd be able to get them here, still quite a few 100 bucks, but. Yeah, I mean, you could do with
David Prince who's just join us and and so is Rob and bring them halfway across the world like you, you did for a cord math at one at one point. Yeah. 12 kilos of them.
And then on the last day, I had to go to Japan Post Office.
Posted over. Because I filled the suitcase up
and I brought that duffel bag as well and pretty much filled that up. But obviously got a limit on the
suitcase so just loaded up my excess clothes.
Not my stuff, not my stuff that I bought that came back with me straight away, just my clothes. So.
There's a smart way to do it, Yeah, because.
You didn't do what I did. Then I have to go buy another
whole like bloody 100 litre suitcase to bring back and I filled that up all the way to the top.
Now that would have cost too much for us so I didn't.
It was cheaper to post. Because because you can buy your
clothes again, more or less, yeah, depending on, depending on, you know, most of your clothes, you bought them in Australia. You, you know, you bought them
again in Australia. So whereas those parts and
everything else, you got that stuff, the good stuff, you can't buy it again in Australia. You don't want to lose that.
So just. Go to Don Quixote for your for
your luggage. Yeah, I know, right?
So this is insane, Scotty. The question is how many of the
little 1 to 64 scale model cars did you buy?
Yes, yes. Yes.
All of them, yeah. Yes.
There's there's, there's a few. So the reason, you know, like
people might go to Aki Harbour is to look at all the anime figurines and stuff. Yep.
Yeah, I did, but I was looking for car models.
That's his, that's his, you know, over excuse.
He was for degenerate stuff. In all seriousness, do you know
where I found a majority of the one to 64 scale stuff?
At a porno store. This the op shops?
Oh yeah, at the op shops there's one that was called Treasure Factory and that had you could buy actual Kyoshi packs.
So like I bought a BMW pack that had like I think it was something like 50 cars in it. I picked up a one for my mate
which is all JDRS from R30 ones to 30 fives and you get 3 of each as well. Like there was all these
different packs that they had that I've never seen anywhere else. Yeah, that's cool.
I'm just trying to find my haul to let you know what I got.
Can you guys put a list together for when I go next year?
I've already booked my tickets. Dad.
No. No.
Have you, have you booked your tickets Rob, when you going?
Yes, I have. We're going.
Ali and I and Deb, we're going in April, we're going to the Grand Prix. Grand Prix, Yeah.
Oh yeah, spending. It'll be cheaper than going to
the Grand Prix. Yeah.
Rob, one one piece of advice I can give you.
Just go up with what you wear and that's all you need and bring a suitcase up that's empty.
Every time we go to US, that's what we do.
We go with empty suitcases and come back with four ones.
It's the one thing that I learned the hard way.
Yeah. So I was just, I was collecting
like some anime figurines too, so.
I knew it. This is that's the only reason
why I went, you know, just just to get those.
The the car stuff was just to cover.
Yeah. The whole time.
Oh. Yeah, of course I'm looking for
cars. Yeah.
Now here was some that I got from the first first place.
That's so sick. That's the limited.
Edition Top Secret R34 GDR and this one here I really liked.
It's just an R32 GDST type M4 door.
Cool. Which is.
A really cool model, Blue R33 GDR.
Nice. And this one here is like a
scene for Oh, you put the. Patch 1.
Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, I did see that for sale.
It's got avo 3 and the white yeah. 7.
You're going to build another wall, Scotty.
He's going to have to. I've got another white FC RX7
and then out of those little gotcha, the gotcha balls, they had ones we could get an FD or FC RX7 and I got another FC RX7, a blue one. And you got to clip it and put
it all together. Yeah.
And for something that was like, you know, that comes from one of those balls, you could change the wheels, the type of wheels that you're so cool. Is that the Mazda 1?
Yeah, and then you can have the little prop stick.
So I've got the hood open up on mine.
You can't really see it because it's very small, but I've got it sitting up there. Which is very common for a
Rotary because it will always be broken.
Wow, bird. Wow.
Coming from you. I know.
Yeah, I'm, I'm happy. I like rotaries, and I'll say
that. See.
That's cool. I got the blue one.
Yeah, I got blue. I got a yellow the.
Blue one. Sounds like you guys had a mad
time. Did you actually do anything for
your your missus or did you? It was all up.
For you was it? No, we did a lot of the
historical things going to the castle grinds.
We got to see have a geisha experience as well in Kyoto, yeah. That's cool.
That was really cool. I enjoyed that over Rev. Ah,
cool. It's meant to be a really good
car one, and this was the one that I got on the Toyota Blade.
Very nice. She's got everything about it.
So cool. My HKS towel.
Which is used to wash yourself. And then I did get a model kit
too. Ah cool.
R32 GDR one, that's cool. And it's a snap kit so I don't
even need glue. Yeah, just put it together.
I'm like, hell yeah, that's kind of my kind of model kit.
Absolutely. Oh, you snap it together?
So I'm wrapped with that one. You were showing me some some
shoes before. And obviously Model T shirts.
Yes, I got myself these Liberty Walks shoes #slams, it's actually Liberty Walks shoes. That's cool.
I was like, I had to buy them. They sell playing cards or
something there too, I think. Trading cards, yeah.
Trading cards, yeah, which I'm Spearing.
They weren't selling them on the day because I would have bought the whole shop. I love this stuff.
You got you guys had a great time.
You're making me you're dreaming me up from from when I go back in January. So I'm I'm super excited.
Well, I we worked, my mates and I worked it out.
I came back with, it was 125 one to 64 scale model cars.
And I'm like, how the how did I do that?
Yeah, yeah, you did. And I'm like, oh, remember.
How many hundreds? In the extra luggage. 125.
One to 64 is how big? Hot Wheels.
Oh wow. And I got one because of you,
Ed. Oh, because of you.
Was it Tarago? No, no.
Almost two cars worth of. Yeah.
Yeah, 2 car lengths worth of Hot Wheels.
No Pajero. No, I I got a Honda City with a
motor compo. I was like, yes.
Adrian, were these old cars you can't get here?
Or essentially, yes, I think I got one which I could get here, which is an actual Hot Wheels. But the rest were all the Kyo
show Tomica cars. Scotty, when you went, did you
go to the Tomica shop in Tokyo Station?
No. So if you went, they were.
Really. In Tokyo too much, which I was
actually fine with. I preferred Asaka.
Kyoto were my favourite areas, yeah.
Because we went to the Tokyo station, the Tomica shop in Tokyo Station, because you can actually get a limited edition model from there. Yeah.
Isn't like that's the only place that you could buy it.
Oh. OK.
Which was AR 35. That was, they're like a, what
do they call it? Not a super, it's not a police
car, it's a detective car. And then you can choose between
one of three colours on the exterior and one of three colours in the interior too. Oh, that's pretty cool, yeah.
That's. Cool, yeah.
But yeah, apart from that, like, oh, the cars everywhere.
Did you go to any of the museums?
The car museums? No.
Something worth doing, I tell you next.
Trip. Next.
Trip. Oh yeah, and we when?
We went. That's all we did.
Yeah, we just did. Car, car museums.
We. Didn't do anything that wasn't.
A car museum. Some of those museums were
absolutely nuts. Did you guys do the Fuji museum?
No. That's.
You need that's amazing. You need to do the Fuji Museum.
At the top, you got a cafe that overlooks Fuji Speedway.
That's cool. It was.
It was just nuts. We got an amazing collection,
yeah. Yeah, what was that?
Sorry. Maddie, you're, I think staying
there aren't. You.
I am, yeah. I'm staying at Fuji Speedway in
January, which would be really cool.
Oh. You'll love that.
Yeah, you got. To make sure, make sure you do
the rookie garage. We didn't get the chance to, but
you basically walk around. It's like on a second level
above the actual people working on the cars.
Oh cool, work on it. That's cool.
So that was one thing we didn't get to do.
Same as Liberty Walk in Nagoya. We went there, but it was
closed, unfortunately. And what was the other one?
There was one more that I found, can't remember now, but yeah, it was good. I really.
Like, I really like, Scotty, your list that you put on Iron Chef on the of, of your observations of Japan.
I think it was #7 I think my feet hurt and.
And yeah. Yeah, I'll, I'll bring it up.
I'll. I'll read it.
Yeah. Number.
Seven. That was my number one.
Yeah, Scotty, when you went, was it still 30° all the everyday?
Still pretty darn humid. Yeah, very much so.
I couldn't believe it. Well.
Here's me here's me list that I came up with things I learnt from from Japan. Number one was their crows sound
different. That was my first.
Yeah, that's it. I didn't.
I didn't expect. That well, I think they're crows
over there and we have Ravens here.
Is is that is that a thing? I believe so.
Yeah, OK. #2 I love all the K cars, they're everywhere, Yeah.
And there's no Chinese cars. There's none.
What an amazing world, isn't it? That was great.
There was a quite a few. Europeans.
No shitty MGS or have valves kicking around.
I was like, yeah. That was all European stuff too.
Have all the other things to take that one. #3 is public
transport is easy, especially with Google Maps.
Did you get a marriage to jump in?
Did you get a sweeper card when you were over there?
Yeah, the way to go. But it was it was cheaper to get
like a 24 hour pass or 48 hour pass if you're just cruising around in just Osaka. Subway or subway ended up being
way cheaper. Yeah #4 is I prefer Osaka over
Tokyo when in Tokyo, Shinjuku to me felt nicer than Shibuya.
OK. Didn't really like Shibuya that
much, it felt very imelbinish. He preferred Shinjuku where
they, you know, solicited sexual things and stuff.
At least that was my experience there.
I want to I want to go to the red light district, but I haven't got around to that one yet.
Yeah, something about the Mrs would have let him, I think.
I liked how you go into every like anime figurine store and you know it's always levels and the top level's like adults only. Yeah, every.
Everyone. Every single one.
It blatantly tells you at the front of the store as well.
Yeah, yeah, I really like that. My favourite word is ukini,
which you use in Osaka and Kyoto and all that for thank you is ukini because. Is that different to other parts
of Japan? Because thank you is yeah.
So if you see, you just go Ukini and they love it, they smile, they laughed and. Is it like a, is it like a
casual? Thank you in those areas.
Just in those areas, yeah. So if I went to Tokyo and said
Ukini, everyone there would go, oh, he's from Osaka.
Were were you told this by a reputable source, Scotty?
Because I'm like, last thing you want is like it's like translate to I've had small balls or something.
Everyone's. Like that guy?
Yeah. He's all.
Right. No.
Definitely a good source. The Tokyo hotel rooms were
really tiny compared to other no.
Shit the other like it was. No, no, you didn't see the
pictures of the rooms we were in.
I did see a picture of one of your rooms.
It was. Like, yeah, that was ridiculous.
Like don't get me started. Yeah, open the door.
You're out. You're out in the city, you're
out, you know? The.
Showerheads open my luggage. Not on it at all.
We stayed in a pod hotel. We did, but you know.
What to expect when you're staying in a pod hotel?
And we were quite. Going to be a pod.
I I like the pod hotel. I think that was I.
Was perfectly happy in the pod. I was in a four star hotel.
There was nothing 4 star about this hotel except.
For the cost, baby. Because every other hotel gave
us a bottle of water every single day and he gave me a.
Glass. Picture a glass.
Picture and I had to go up to the floor 8 to fill it up.
Well that is a good joke. Yeah #9 is my feet hurt #10 is.
I love their food. Yeah, yeah.
Riddicky. Yep. #11 is I need melon soda
hooked up to. Me I I once had to get a Asian
store here in Australia to order me a case of 24th.
I was at a melon soda binge at the time.
So. I was like, I can't keep buying
a single bottle. Just how much is the case?
And she's like, that's a special order.
I'm like, I don't care, just get it here.
Get it? Here, actually order that for
me, damn it. That's what I did.
A fun fact. But it's worth it.
Fun fact, my mate that I went up with he he did the same thing.
He loves the melon soda. He found a place in Roxy that
sells them. His place actually sells them.
Yeah, one of the Asian grocers. You mean that's from going off
to work? I mean, yeah, right.
Book it in. Because he fell in love with
them and the the matcha the. Yeah I liked ice iced matcha
lattes. I tried a hot 1, not as good.
Iced is much better. Changes the taste.
Don't taste better. It's called not being to Japan,
Rob. He's doing that, but he's
already got. He's booked.
He's booked, have you booked? Yes.
Yeah, April. That's as good as you're in.
That's it then. Everyone here has been to Japan
then. Yeah.
Oh yeah. Yep.
Impressive. Also notice that they don't make
eye contact with you over there. They don't like that, no.
No, They do everything possible to not make eye contact with you, but there's not many people.
You're walking around the the subways, you're expected like I guess in Australia and that you make that eye contact and you know which way go to dodge them, but they don't.
Get Australia. That one way they will not
dodge. That will go that one way no
matter what, and they do not look at you.
If that's a foreigner thing or if it's just like a social.
They probably have their own techniques, whereas I just barged and they just got around me and I was like, that's my solution is I'm going to be, you know, the front man and my dominance, my, my group of friends were behind me in a train and I was just, you know, making.
Away. OK, Moe.
Well, we we got Moses over here. Spring.
That's a long night. I tried to be, I tried to be
like really nice and courteous and then everyone else is just like pushing in front of me. I'm like oh crap, what on to
this line system that doesn't exist.
We we coined the term snaking. They snake in front of you and
then you slowly like me, me, me and Jack had this issue where Jake would be falling behind me because obviously we're trying to, you know, conserve space. And somebody would get between
me and Jake and then kind of widen the gap.
And then another person would get between me and Jake and widen the gap. And so like 2 minutes down I'm
looking back at Jake's like you know, you know what he's saying.
Like where'd? You go Jake.
He's like, people kept sneaking me.
So that was that term, it's called.
Sneaking. We we had that issue too.
The the only difference was his my mate that I went with his really, really tall. So all I had to do was just turn
around and look up and then I could still see him in the distance and there he is. He'll get there.
Very, very cool that it sounds like you guys are having a great life. As well, Universal Studios was
awesome. That it was.
Did you say Shrek? I saw Shrek.
Sugar Son. Sugar son.
The weirdest thing, the weirdest thing when I was in when I was in Universal Studios was I went to I did Harry Potter world and Harry Potter was Japanese. He was speaking Japanese.
It was the IT was the weirdest thing I've ever.
I was like, wait, you expecting him to expect me here?
You know the guy that plays him. Was that Dan Radcliffe?
And it's just dubbed with some Japanese guys like.
What have I wizarded this? How do you think I felt about
Super Nintendo World? I'm like, it's, it's Mario, you
know, it's a me or Mario. That's what you're waiting for
and it's in Japanese and you're like, but that's not.
I don't. Hang on, he's not Italian.
No, I don't. He's an Italian American
stereotype made by a Japanese company.
He's Italian. We went to we went to Disney Sea
as well and you got Mickey Mouse and that at the beginning talking Japanese, but he's still got the same voice that's still high pitch and everything, but he's just talking Japanese.
And then you got all the other, you know, characters like, you know, from Frozen, she's singing the let it go.
But that's all in Japanese to do that's.
So funny. A little bit grouse.
You could sing along to it 'cause you know the lyrics, but obviously they're singing in Japanese.
To a different language. Yeah, well, it sounds.
Sounds like you guys had a great time, Dave, yo.
I was just gonna say quickly just before we jump off it being that you are so big into Initial D as well.
Next time you go up, grab a car from Omarin and seriously go up to Mount Haruna. That's that's the plan.
That's the. Top of the mountain is identical
to what it is in the series. Yeah.
And they have the manhole cover there.
Oh, what? They got manhole covers
everywhere that it was based on. That's cool.
I've got photos with five of them.
I think it was or so. That's very.
Cool out of seven. So honestly, do it.
Yeah, no, that's the plan for January, David Prince.
So we are joined by Edward, David and Rob.
David Prince is currently on the other side of the world still.
He'll be back later this week. David, how is your trip going?
Our trip's going fantastically well.
Thank you. Well, lovely to see all you boys
again. I missed, I think I've missed
the last two weeks, but yeah, no, no, I.
And then I daylight savings stuffed me up this morning, so I was a bit late, but then it's been fantastic.
Thank you. We've had a great time.
We're in Scotland and my wife and I have come over to meet our grandson, which has been fantastic, and my son back in Melbourne and his wife produced another grandchild yesterday, so we've got. Congratulations, I'm home.
To so been a busy busy few weeks and months I think and years to come I'm guessing. See David.
Normally when you come home from an exciting trip, about meeting a grandchild overseas, seeing the family, normally you'd come home a little bit flat. Exactly right.
Not the same time we had that discussion.
Yeah, less than an hour. Come home, there's some Mudder.
You've got another one. Yeah, the best.
So now I have been doing a lot of car things over here.
I've been doing lots of other things although I did I did bring Rory over his first Hot Wheels collection so that was good man, good man. I went through Sodom.
Yeah, that's exactly right, exactly right.
The we've hired a 20/24/23 I think it is Ford Puma 1 litre 6 speed manual mild hybrid, which isn't I think they're meant to be based on a Fiesta, but Fiesta St it is not Maddie so.
No, I I've heard that. There's A1 leader.
Does A1 litre Puma motor need to be mild hybrid as well?
Like good question, How inefficient is it?
Exactly. Right.
Well, it's actually on hybrids, because how?
Bad is that car. Look, I, I, I'm, I'm slightly
warming to it. I found the the mode button the
other day, the drive mode button.
So not being hugely familiar with all the with these cars like Ford is a brand except for that beautiful, you know, FG eco gas experience I had with you, Ed beautiful.
Son was yes. It's it got a funny driving
position, it's got a gear ship that feels like it came out of SV 21 Camry with 400,000 K's on the clock.
Yeah, quite clunky. Yeah, clunky.
And and long travel and oh right, OK, almost a brand new car, but. Having said that.
Because they're in Imperial over here still.
It's getting something like 58 miles to the gallon.
So, you know, that's in, in the old language, which is pretty impressive, pretty good. But yeah, but I, I just drive
around and point and laugh at all the cars rusting away.
The the rust over here in Scotland especially is just epic and you see quite a lot of relatively new cars and you think, oh look at the bubbles around the wheel arches in those. That's surely not factory, but
over here it appears it is. Been a few highlights.
There's a lovely. About an 05 Fiesta parked in the
street yesterday. Clean is clean, not a spot of
rust or wheel shiny alloys. The other thing that really
deteriorates over here is alloyed wheels.
They just, they just get chewed away.
It's ridiculous, but yeah, So no, no, it's it's it's been oh, and the Honda dealership went to the Honda dealership current the brand they've just released the hybrid CRV that we've got in Australia, which what's that cell formatting That's about 58.
It's yeah, it's almost 60 grand with, with a few bits and pieces, yeah. OK, So over here, that car, they
had a demo on the on the on the forecourt, it was a 2024, it was 40,850 lbs, which equates to about $80,000 for a CRVCRV hybrid new model. Yeah.
Holy hell. Everything, all the all the new
Hondas are really expensive over here, whereas all the other, you know, anything that's a few years old cars do depreciate because of the weather conditions, just like.
Beats them alive. Yeah, just like a stone.
So, but yeah, it's been a great trip.
Thank you. Looking forward to coming back
for obvious, obvious reasons, but also getting back and picking up the N1 that's been had had a service while I've been away just to change the brake fluid and the oil and had the key coded. I actually contacted, I'm not
sure if I mentioned I've contacted a, one of those key coding pages on Facebook where they will code your key.
I've got a new key ordered to the VIN number of that car from Japan because I thought at least I've got the hardware.
They've got a really tiny little key.
And I rang the guy, he, he posted on Facebook actually that he'd done an N1 key and I rank him and said, oh look, I've got 101, you know, I've just need the key.
I've got a key. Yeah, mate won't be the right
one. He said, oh, I think it is.
No mate, it's not the right one. No, that's 795 mate, 795.
I've got to order you in UK. I've got a.
Packet I'm pulling out of Japan. Exactly right.
So he might have been having a bad day Anyway, I've had that done by the by John Blair Automotive in Moorabbin who are Honda gurus and they've been looking after the car and they're also doing a bit of a light ceramic coat for me while I'm. On mate.
Nice and shiny and new for the rest of the time I've got it, can you please? Just call that guy back and say,
yeah, look, it was the right key, if anyone, Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, no, it was the right key.
And yeah, I just obviously, as I said was having a bad day. 01
other cool thing I did here actually, which I, which isn't necessarily car related, but it's similar.
I went to the National Museum of Flight, which is only about 15 minutes where the kids from where the kids live in East Lothian, which is just West of Edinburgh, and got inside the Concorde. Yeah, so that was called.
For that, that is so good. Incredible.
That was an amazing experience and they've got a fantastic display of the whole history of the that plane was flying in the 60s supersonic and it read cruised at Mack 2 and it was just incredible, fantastic space ever you get to the UK and definitely come to Scotland, but you, you, it's a fantastic day out. And I know it's a car show, but
Concorde, you know what happened to Concorde?
The way it ended was pretty, was pretty sad.
It wasn't Concorde's fault and. Not at all.
And. You know, and it, it was, you
know, it's still, it's still faster than than most planes these days, you know. So it's a shame that it, you
know. Well, it's funny, I thought it
all ended because of the crash at Paris at Charles de Gaulle Airport, which was is could have happened to any plane that was going down the runway because it just looked up a bit of metal.
Yeah, Yeah, that's right. But it wasn't.
But it actually flew again within two years and and there were scheduled flights with Concorde.
But then then 9/11 happened and then the the airline industry, you know, went down the toilet and then there was just a combination of things. And yeah, it only flew for
another two or three years, but but it was from memory, I would have said it was the crash at the at Paris airport that actually finished it all, but it wasn't.
So it was just incredible. It was much smaller, obviously,
than you imagine. It's only four, four breast
seeding single. There you go.
I. Was putting up a picture of
Concordia. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it was a fantastic, fantastic day out if you get the chance and you're sick of cars. But no one in this group would
be reached that point. So was it again, David?
Where? Yeah.
It's it's in East Lothian, which is a a region just just West of just east of Edinburgh. OK.
And yeah, National Museum of Flight.
It's cool. That's cool.
Yeah. Have you been there that Rob?
Yeah, I think you're showing us photos from.
I went to Brooklyn's and you get a ticket saying that you've been on a Concorde. That's cool.
Brilliant. Yeah, Cool.
And like anything transport. So it's a transport museum?
Yep, Yep. There's a Concorde.
We walked on it. Oh wow, that's cool.
Yeah. Where's that, Rob?
That's Brooklyn's. It's just out of London.
Yeah. Cool.
And we went to the Ace Cafe where all the the bikers, all the all that used to. Yeah, Ace Cafe.
But the, that the Brookfields Museum, they had all the race cars and they had this Dome circuit and it used to be a racing circuit. And this is what it looked like.
It's just amazing that it's still there.
Oh. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's fantastic. Yeah, so part of the circuit's
still there. And then there's a Mercedes
dealership and another Mercedes museum and it's all just out of London. That's.
Cool. Yeah, it's awesome.
If you ever, if you're ever in London, you need to get there.
Yeah. 100% So you're having a good time.
So it seems like everybody's having a good time.
Everybody that's been overseas and is currently overseas, yeah.
Sure. Yeah, I'll say the same for the
rest of us. I think we're having a time.
A time? Yeah, we're having a time.
Well, look, it's it's good to good to see you guys have been troubling save and enjoying yourselves and and and and having a great time. I think it's not for car updates
before we get to the quiz because it's you know what?
We've Today was a travel episode.
Travel episode, Yeah. There's no topic, it's just
updates and quiz. Yeah, well, yeah, there's some
been some big updates, gentlemen.
So. So who'd like to start their car
updates first? I'll start because I've got
nothing. OK, cool.
It's moving on. Nice of these.
Chad. Oh, car updates, nothing that
jumps out. I yeah, I just did some
detailing on the cars in the last couple of weekends and just been spending my time doing that really.
And yeah, not no modifications. I did go for a drive on Sunday
with with the charity called Drive Against Depression.
That's cool. And how did you?
Go on that chatty. Yeah, I did.
I was going to go on that, but then my friend parked and then I didn't go. Damn it.
But yeah, that was fun. We went to, we drove like from
the Shannon's headquarters in Hetterton to or just outside of Arthur's Seat, and there's a little museum there called Charlie's Auto Museum and some incredibly eclectic and weird little cars. So that was really cool to say.
And yeah, that was about it, really.
Yeah, that was the site of the inaugural classic Not Japan Drive. Wasn't it?
Was. It was.
Let's do that again. Yeah, we will.
Every year we which we try to do 1.
So we'll have to, we'll have to do that one again.
So yeah, so done anything on the on on the bends recently or?
No, no, it's, it's still, it's getting to the top of the list slightly. Like, yeah, I'm running out of
other things to do. So yeah, it'll get.
You can only procrastinate so much.
Yeah, it's. Exactly, Rob.
Not much, just getting hernia operations and attached and things like that. So I haven't been doing too
many, too many things on the car.
It's just pretty much just keeping them on charge, kicking them over and making sure they're all running.
Really. Wait, does this mean the shops
closed? Shops closed for a little while,
yeah, Until the hernia gets a little bit better, yeah.
Not a good time. Not a good time.
Not a good time. Well, we're there for you
because Scotty was going to say, are you going to come put my clutch in and stuff? No, I won't be doing it.
We should have done it before my hernia, but hey, look at Chad.
Just a bit of excitement here for you.
Here we go. That's that's been put up two
weekends ago. Oh.
There we go. All right, that's it.
It's happening. Oh, hello, happening.
Really get that car prepped. Sit inside so it's awesome man.
Looks good. When you when's the first
booking? Rob, I got some work for you.
I knew that was coming, yeah. Got to fit it in with all the
other bookings. Do they add it in to the list?
Rob, add it to the. List.
Add it to the list. The calendar's full at the
moment. I need a quick turn around.
Quick turn around. No, it's it's not hooked up yet.
So the power and the gas needs to be hooked up to it.
And yeah, a roof put over the top of it as well.
So it's been a couple week yet. Yeah, perfect.
We're getting there. We're getting there.
Yeah, Scotty updates with you. So what I've just done is I have
purchased a couple little bits and pieces for the 31.
I've got the spigot Bush coming. I've got the in case I need a
new clutch release bearing that is coming, new flywheel bolts, they're coming, and a spring retainer clip just in case.
Mine is no good. I've got that coming.
So at least I've got all little bits and pieces ready to go.
Yeah. Perfect.
We all need our springs retained.
We do, Adrian, I'll place with you.
Well, after Japan, I kind of I got the bug again for Japanese cars and it's simply because of this.
That was a photo I got to take of our three cars up on the top of Mountain Haruna. That's.
Cool, so you bought an RX8? I did not buy one.
No, I've. Got to look at one after the
show. He's got deposit ready, you
know. No, no, I I've got one terrible
car. I don't need another one.
He's learning. Listen, this is this is a new
Adrian. Yeah, well, it's funny that you
say that because he has. He's already put an RX in,
hasn't he? He's already no, no, no, I'm not
buying an RX8, but my lawn ornament of a Discovery 1 is going up for sale. OK.
I've just decided it's not worth keeping that and I'm going to be buying something else as a daily, which I know that everybody would approve of, but I'm going to keep that a little bit on the hush hush and you. Can't do that to us.
Can't tease it, I have to. Why do you have to?
Because not a done deal yet or something.
Not a done deal just yet. It's about. 80% tell us what
you're looking at. It's something that everybody
would agree on. Nissan NX.
Nissan I. Wish do you know what I actually
found in Japan? Maddie?
A book on the Nissan NX. And you didn't buy it?
Like I bought it, I saw it. I saw it in my, I put it in my
hands and I saw it and I'm like, this can't be real.
And I'm like, yes, you're holding on to it.
And I'm like, I have to buy this.
You do I. Did so.
I did. I can't believe anyone wrote a
book on that car. They said at the Toyota Museum,
I think it was, yeah, because it's of all cars around the world. They had a whole series of books
there on each individual model. So like any cars.
So I've got for one of my mates, I've got like ABP Liberty one because he's got the waggon and then a Mark 3 Super because he wants one. We found a, a book on a the
Skyline R34 GTTS which don't exist.
So just grab that. I had AB 13 an X1, but they even
had them on Pajeros on Magna's like they had like diamante ones. And I'm like I I should but I
don't want to go back there. Couldn't do it.
But would they for Magna Fest, Adrian?
I couldn't do it. End of 25 is Magna fest.
We're all buying a magnet so you you can do it for that.
October 19, 2025. Really.
FYI. Yeah.
We're buying Magnus. We're buying Magnus.
Oh I'm sorry, doing this I'm painting my fleuro pink.
Hey, there you go. You'll be in.
And I need spinners, spinners. I'm sorry doing that, but I
don't even know that was the thing.
I'm down. But anyway, so yeah, they have
like all all the all those books there.
And so something worth going to if you ever go back.
But yeah, I am buying a Japanese car is all I'm going to be saying. OK, the M3.
Still stands. Pardon.
Land Cruiser. I'm not buying a four wheel
drive again. Oh, OK.
Although the Land Cruisers over there are nuts.
That's all I'll say. Like they're pretty.
I saw what was it? Prado 150?
I think it is the new one. It's Shorty with a what was it?
I think it was a 90 series Prado front on it.
And I'm just like, this doesn't make sense and it doesn't look good but OK, fair enough. They do interesting things to
their cars. There.
Oh yeah, and I, I, I want an outfit too.
So many outfits. I need an outfit in my life now.
No comment. But no, no, that's not what I'm
buying. I don't have 130 grand for a
car. It's.
True Edward Bunting updates with you.
Well, I was just thinking Chad said he had no updates, but my last update involves Chad. Oh, OK.
Chad's friend heard about the Honda Odyssey I was selling and he and Chad came round and then he bought it.
Oh well. Easy sale.
Really. Yeah, legit.
Chad was in the House of Edward Motors.
Well, you went to, you went to the Edward.
Motors. I saw the headquarters.
Yeah, cheap. Headquarters, I mean.
It's disappointing, it's. Pretty.
Good. It's not it's disappointing
headquarters because there's usually there was only one car in the garage when you came, which was the oldest.
Yeah, that's true. Yeah, there's nothing.
Did. You did you hide the rest of
them? And I was back on the tram.
That's a good news story because the Odyssey is has gone to Chad's friend who's also called Ed.
So you got to like him, right? You gave me, you gave me Ed, you
gave me Ed discount, I guess, didn't you?
And that car is with someone who had one as a kid or his parents had one as a kid, and very fond memories of it.
And so it's gone to the right home.
Excellent. Oh, he loves it.
He appreciated. Over the moon.
He's written to me since saying how much he loves it and.
He. Thoughts.
Editing David Prince? I think I mentioned that but.
You did. So that's good to know.
Yeah. So we'll be staying in touch
with Ed Mark, too. I like that one.
Yeah, we we did actually, Yeah, part of my car updates.
We detailed this car for him last weekend.
I mean the panels that still have the.
Paints. Yeah, yeah.
Which, you know, is is still a fair bit of it.
Anyway, it came up amazing, like the paint was smooth and soft.
It was, Yeah, the IT was, it was really good.
And the interior, I mean, it was obviously Immaculate to begin with. And it yeah.
The mats, I tell you know, as I mentioned, the mats could have done with a, you know, a steam clean sort of thing.
But you know, if you chipped away at that for a few weekends, yeah, it would really come up very well.
Yeah, it's not, it's. No long since since I've seen a,
a decent one of those, you know, they, they they were built for purpose, you know, and they were used.
Yeah. And to survive 25 years in that
condition is nuts. Yeah, that was one car update
involving Chad. In other news, I have just sold
my truck. So that sold within 24 hours.
You. Had a truck.
Yeah, I bought a nice NPR box truck thing.
So the trucks are good news. And The funny thing is, you
know, I put that truck through the Mannheim truck auction and didn't get the reserve that I thought it should.
So I went and picked it up again and spent a bit more money on it and got a roadworthy and then sold it within a day for thousands more. And I think, I think it's just
giving it to someone turnkey on a platter that works.
Obviously they don't want to stuff around.
How was the roadworthy process for that?
Exactly the same As for a car it's just more expensive.
So the car rode was 200 ish dollars in depending where you go. The truck one was 600 and
something dollars. So it's, yeah, three times the
price. Because it's ready to go.
It was, it was like appealing, obviously.
Yeah, it needed, David, just some oil leaks fixed, a couple of new reflectors, new tail light, lens, driver's seat handle, just just stuff like that.
Probably the worst of it was a few oil leaks, which was a, you know, a couple of seals and a sump gasket or something.
So. Yeah, that, you know, it's
interesting that the that I load van that I had from the same, you know, source that sold in 24 hours and the truck within 24 hours gone, you know, so it's kind of shows there's a demand for good, good Rd winning tools. Commercials so.
I might be I might be on the hunt for some more trucks.
It's commercial vans. It's commercial vans, sales and
etcetera. We're in a dangle for you now.
Just before I went away, I I sort of was interested to know what my caddy was worth 50 or 58.
I might have just hit 60,000 KS 2020 model and it is worth within a few $1000 of what I paid for it all advertised, you know, well into the you know, very high 20s, low 30s, so.
Did you get that? Sorry.
What year did you get that caddy?
December 2020, So it's coming up for four years old.
Bunting's bunting's exciting it. Is it was COVID pricing or sort
of almost? No, it was.
It was funny because it was one of the they only had.
I changed it over from the manual 1 to the auto because I thought, well, if the the manual was out of warranty and the new ones had a five year warranty, same car so and they had only had four left in the country with the tailgate and the camera like I like to have. So I had to get an auto and I
just literally everything swapped over into it from the old car. But it was I think 33 1/2 on the
road for a Caddy maxi DSG with the, with the gate and stuff.
I mean, the deal, it's a dealer I do work for.
So there was, it was available. And then the new model was, was
already being built in in Europe.
So you couldn't actually order one that you wanted.
But when the new model hit hit here, it was 55 or something like crazy deer. And they're still deer.
And that's why the, the old ones have held their value especially. Yeah, they're 2020 cars with 100
and 5200 thousand KS on the clock, but anything with under 100,000 KS is 30 grand, you know, so that's not after four years to be and and it was that a good 18 months, two years.
The dealer was was ringing me telling me do you want to sell your van? I'll give you what I what you
paid for it. No, because I'm gonna buy.
What are you gonna? Place it with.
What are you doing? That's right.
I've got to buy something else, but I won't keep that out of warranty. I don't think.
So I've got to, you know, in the next 12 months I'll start thinking about what I'm going to do next with with that.
But but yeah, I mean just. Doing a truck, David.
Yeah. And actually, but when I bought
the first Caddy, I sold the Bolingo I had before that within that was the quickest car I'd ever sold that had a roadworthy and cleaned up beautifully. And that went in, I think about
15 hours after I put it on, on. Commercials.
I'm telling you commercials. Commercials.
And they're not fussy, like they come and they go, oh, it's got a little scratch or a Ding. And a lot of they don't, they
don't care. They just want to work.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right.
It's a very different buyer. I think I should bring some home
from over here, some of the cool little Fiesta bands.
Yeah, I was just about to say bring a Fiesta van back.
David Prince, you need to bring a Festa van back.
Spring 1. Spring One.
It's so weird seeing these little bands getting around and there's a Citrone, Nemo they call it, which is smaller than a Big Berlingo. It's a whole category smaller.
So yeah, there there's lots of cool little vans over here.
Don't see Rangers. I I think I've seen two or three
Rangers the whole time of being here.
Good. No highlights.
Everyone drives a van and I, I mentioned that to to my son in law. He said yeah, it's because of
the weather. He said what's the point of
having a dual cab? You in Scotland, you know,
anything you put in the back is going to get wet if you haven't got a canopy or a cover. But vans are, you know, water
tight and everyone drive. So Ranger drivers and the, shall
we say, the stigma around Ranger drivers here is transferred to white van drivers. Yeah, Right.
Yeah. Yeah.
With good reason, Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Fiesta, Van Brent. Make it Happen.
David Prince. Fiesta van.
Speaking of, I can't and and David, obviously you've got probably no updates because you're you're in a different part of the world. Yeah, yeah, but the but the in
one's getting getting some love. So like you mentioned.
Yeah, yeah, it I, it's, it's due for a service.
It's got all the service history with it, thankfully that I've been able to in in the books and everything.
So the guys at at Blair's, I, I took used to take the red one too. The the fuel, the oil fuel is
the same as every other Honda has the current Honda has.
So I mean, that's no problem, but being just on four years old, they said, oh, you know, we don't know if it's had the brake fluid done and all that. So they're changing that giving
and just giving it a good check over.
I had noticed that idle sometimes you there was a slight rattle, but it was actually something in the exhaust.
Just hold the exhaust in the rattle, it stops.
So it's obviously just a mounting thing.
So they're just going to check that out coded the key as I said yeah. And I noticed actually they've
used it As for updating their profile picture on Facebook.
So I I figured the free parking I've had for 3 1/2 weeks will be. You.
Authorised that yeah, that's OK. But so now they love having it
there and, and I've had a few messages from it and I've had a few videos that the, the service manager sent me a couple of videos of it being worked on and stuff.
So I know it's in good hands. What's going on with you,
Maddie? What carpet?
Oh, there's with me. So I just got back from
Adelaide. So I went to Adelaide for a
wedding and yeah, the, the, the wedding was good, but in between, because it was a Bangladeshi ceremony, so there was a few different days of events.
That's the henna and it's. Generally Generally reserved for
the ladies. It is, it is.
But they they insisted. They insisted so that they they
were like, look, it's normally a or a, a ladies, you know, get the hen out. But they're like Maddie.
Was the one that insisted. I know I was, I was like,
please, can you do me now? I was like, they did a bit
different because it's Stephanie's cousin got married and he's obviously white. And they're like, well, we try,
we want to try and bring some other people into it.
So they made it, you know, agenda, I guess, accepted gender open event, open event. So everyone.
'S how do you get the 8th Andre? So it's, it's just it, it'll
come, it comes off in about a couple weeks, I reckon.
So, So yeah, that's so that'll, that'll come off.
So in the meantime, while we're waiting for between events, because you know, it's, there's, it's a Bangladeshi event and there was, you know, we, we went to two of the four that are happening and then there's more happening overseas as well.
I went to The Wreckers because I was like, well, I went some time to kill. So I went to, I went to two
wreckers. Actually I went to two U pullets
in one in, in Gilman, which is near Port Adelaide and one in Elizabeth where right near where the old Holden factory was.
It is phenomenal because the cars that they have got there on the road a lot older than what we still have on like what we have on the roads here. Like they keep they keep cars on
the road a lot longer there because they don't have stringent, you know, Rd worthies when you sell cars and stuff like that there. So there's quite literally a lot
of like, you know, inverted commas bombs getting around, but they will have working air con because it is quite hot.
So so yeah, that was that was pretty cool.
Went there had a look, got a few bits and pieces that have been, you know, kind of hard to get from my laser.
So I found a well for the first thing I saw was an SP20 that was punched so hard in the back, like the the driver's seat had buckled. Like it this was a massive hit.
I was like, Oh my God, yeah, it was.
And that kind of worried me. I'm like.
Was the air conditioning still working?
Well, the engine was half out of it anyway, but that that's that's another story. So I meant it, but it had to
look really OK. It was, it was actually quite a
nice car and, and I looked inside and the, the handbrake was mint. So I took the handbrake off
because, because the, the, the kind of plasticy silvery things peeling away in line. So, so this one was good.
So I took that took some extra bit, extra bits of trim, you know, bits and pieces here and there.
And then they had an SR2IN there and I took a bit, took bits off that. And I'm, I'm walking to the, you
know, going out and the guy's like, oh, do you know what the fog lights are worth on those bloody things?
And I'm like, yeah, I've got an idea.
And he's like, man, I just had a look on eBay.
We had a customer after those earlier and he's like, he wanted 500 bucks for them. And I'm like, OK, so I'm like,
yeah, well, that's, that's, that's a good thing that I've got a couple spare anyway, so. That's like I owned.
I owned about 90% of the share. Share Yeah, quite literally.
Fog lights from lasers. It's not too fog lights.
So, so that was the Gilman one and then the the one at at Elizabeth had all these old, you know, old cars, which was which was really cool to see. They got like a classic section
and they had a Toyota Celica there that had and I couldn't believe what I was saying. I had to I had to really have
another look. It said 26,000 KS on it and I
had I'm like, Oh, no, it's probably just you know, it's probably just ticked over. But no, it was it was it looked
like 26,000. It goes unless the clock had
stopped. Was that for sale as a complete
car or was that being wrecked? That was being wrecked.
Why? It was pretty rusty on the back,
so it it looked like it the front had been parked inside and the back had been parked outside.
It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
Take the dash, put in another car like locating there.
So they had that, they had a runner 16, they had a few bits and pieces, they had plenty of Taragas actually, which, you know, if I was there a lot longer, I would have been like, what do you need to do? I'm here.
But I was obviously on time constraints.
So, so they had they had lots of that.
They had they had really interesting, like old, like little, little Japanese stuff They had, they had Rockies.
They had all sorts of cool things there.
So yeah, it was it was actually really, really cool to see all all the stuff they had there. So while Steph was at getting
your hair done and makeup stuff, I was at The Wreckers and I got back and covered in he. Was waiting for his turn to get
his hair done and makeup done. But you.
Know correct. Yeah, different.
Kind of how long? Yeah, I mean, I had, I had a
full face of grease instead of full face of makeup.
But anyway, so I got back into there was like, your arms are just covered in grease. I'm like, yeah, it's all right.
You know, I'm wearing a shirt. It'll cover it so.
It's like all like you stink of oil and you're all messed up.
Your hair's messed. Everything got like a smear of
like oil in your face. And he's like, I just got to put
my socks on. I'm ready to go.
I'm ready to go. But yeah, so, so that was good.
We drove the Forester over that, that, that was good.
So I, I did a bit, a couple bits and pieces on that before we left just to make sure it was all good.
That that's a great car. I really enjoy driving that.
And the the laser had it's tinting done, so it got re tinted courtesy of David's friend.
So that that's all done. It looks way better.
There's no more bubbles and and you know, it's actually quite dark. So it actually kind of suits the
the black aesthetic of the car. What else have I had done
recently? I think that's pretty much it on
my end, gentlemen. So moving on to tonight to
tonight quiz, I should say now it's been an international edition of Car Talk tonight. We've had, you know, people
returning from Japan, people overseas, but the the main event is right now and that that is the car quiz as as we as we all, as we all know. So we have got, we've got a few
players now we've got Scotty pass this.
On to you, Chad. We've got Chad, we've got Alan,

You can still buy it on some of their models today actually.
Matter of fact I saw one earlier today.
Everyone out complete blanks. Al alum.

It might be every second, Adrian, you laugh.
But it could well be. Rob one for you. 10 seconds. 10
seconds, that's what I was going to say, Adrian.
I'll just say 20 seconds. 20 seconds.
The answer is every 45 seconds a car is stolen in the United States of freedom. I guess they really want their
freedom by escaping and stealing people's cars.
Closest to would be I think it's I think it's a tie between two people. 60 seconds and 3rd yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah.
So how? Yeah, but you can't go over so

No, that's incorrect. It's the 18 naughts.
So like the the the naughties of the.

Yeah, it is the naughty. I'll give you the that's my
fault. I forgot you didn't didn't put
it in there. So what year?
What? Year is the 1890s.
What is that? From zero from from 1900 to
1910. And then there's the the the 10
to 20, which which is what you said.
So 1900 to 1910. That's when she invented the.
Correct. Yes, 1906 I believe it was.
I thought that was already said you believe?
Or you know. I, I, I, Adrian, take the point
because. It's yeah, sorry.
I mean, yes, you're 100% correct.
It was at that time. Question #8 Ferrari produced
approximately how many cars a day, Ed Ed. 10. 10 says Ed.
Actually I'll give closest 2 for this one.
It's quite a lot, actually. Maybe it's not.
So wait, I'm gonna put Ed. Hang on, where's Ed?
On the Ed. You say Ferrari.

That is true. That is true.
That's true. Who's next?
I'll go. Next Allen, I was going to say
they make some bullshit cars these days.
They do. So I'm going to say probably
about 28. 28 I'll say 404040, says Chuck.
Let's go. Make, I reckon, about 15. 15 and
last, I guess would be Rob. 30. 30.
Wait before you do this Adrian answer.
Adrian did. Yeah, I've said 22.
Just making sure, just making sure he doesn't get missed out again. The answer is 14.
They make 14 cars a day, Scotty. You're closest to it.
Oh. Oh, Scotty, sorry.
What publishing cars do they make these days?
1414 cars a day. 14141. 4 Ferrari make 14 cars a day.
Yep, that is that is what I've gotten here from a they're.
Very expensive cars, David. That's how I can afford to have
all those people working there. Wow owners question in
comparison Toyota make how many cars a day Rob Rob's?
Globally or. Well, I just had it just had,
you know, Ford ferromic 14 and then Toyota make XYZ.
So Rob, your I'll just go with the put the number they put it's. Global.
I'd say about 5000 a day. 5000 a day 5K Yep.
I'll say 2200. 2200, says Allen. Where are you, Allen?
2200, Yep. That's a 8000.
I wanted to say 8. I want.
To say the correct answer. 7962. You're very salty right now,
Edward So. We're talking like how much they
make like worldwide. Worldwide.
Yeah, worldwide. How many I?
Reckon 7. How much did you say 7992?
52 I think. 62. 62. Just give them.
David and Scotty and Chattis, do we have to go?
I will go 25K. 25,000 that's a that's a nice guess.
I like that 125K. It's.
A strong guess. It's a strong guess.
I like it, Chad and David. Chad, I'll go 15. 1015.
Spencer. And David?
12 1/2. 12 1/2. Yeah.
You just peeped him. It's they make 13,000 cars a
day. Woo.
So David Prince gets the chocolates there.
OK School Chad with two questions to go.
Scotty 1. Chad one point sorry .5.
Allen 1.5. Rob 1.
David 2. Edward 2.
Adrian won. It's still anybody's game, guys.
It's still anybody's game. Question 9.
Approximately how many, how much percent of a vehicle's lifetime is spent park? Ed, 99%. 99% says alum.
It's incorrect. I should give.
I'll just give you if you get it right for this one.
Well, it depends on the car. Ed.
Ed. 72% incorrect. I'm sinking in the 70s too.
Incorrect. It seriously depends on the car.
It's an approximate. It's my cars is like 99.99.
Million. If it's a BMW, it's oh, it's
whole life. Basically, Chad, Chad, I'll do
48. Percent, 48%, yeah.
I'll do. I'll do 75. 75.
I'll say 67. 67. 53. 53 Who said Who said 99%?
Me. Yeah, you could.
You're it's 95% of a car's life spent parked, so that would be for you. Mr Alamandeep Singh.
I'll give you the point for that question #10 this is a car we all know and love, the PT Cruiser.
What do the letters PT stand for?
Ed. Ed.
You're better off taking a public transport.
Adam Ward, he wouldn't, won't be happy with that one.
No, that is incorrect. I don't.
Know I don't. Push it in trash.
No, I like that one as well though.
But that is, that is also incorrect.
P Prime time cruiser. Not bad, Adam, not bad.
I like that one. No but but no.
Personal transport. You were spot on Rob.
Personal transport. Cruiser.
Well done personal transport cruise.
Because you're not going to have any friends.
Rather than that guy. It's.
Very personal. It's just you that's.
So stupid. Personal transport cruise are
well done. Score check.
Chad .5. Scotty and Adrian on one apiece.
Edward David, Rob on two and tonight's winner on 2.5 is
Alamdeep Singh. Well done.
I was cheated. Question shenanigans.
He cheated, he can see the answers.
Don't like it? No.
I was let down on a question I want.
I want a bonus question #9 #195%.
I. Want to go to court.
I don't believe with this. See, Ellen, when you've started?
Because when everyone else wins, you complain and.
No complaints. They.
Can complain all they like. I still want Ellen.
'S really quiet at the moment. He's.
A quite a spike. Standing there, nobody cares.
Nobody cares you. Just lost your sponsorship to
have AL. Is there anyone you want to
thank, Ellen? I would like to thank Koval.
Yeah, send us a car. We will shield your Chineseium
to the end of days. That GTH 6 swear to God.
Believe we live in shield MGS. You send us the one that breaks
down the side of the road with the exact one too.
Hey do you believe it or not a friend of mine just bought AH6GT. We're looking at buying one.
I I drove one recently. Actually drives are right.
It's not. It's not.
As bad as they look, cool. They're good looking.
Especially you can get all carbon for them.
You can, they look sick. Yep, thick.
Yeah, I'd agree with you. You have to look sick.
I think they're actually quite a ground.
I think they're an attractive car.
I think they're and then like surprisingly.
Super not I do. But also what a shit on them.
I want to have my cake and eat it too until they get us a car.
Until they get us a car. They're crappy brand and when
they get us a car, they're, you know.
They're Immaculate. There's nothing better.
Some respect. It's a super.
Car. It's an exotic car.
It's an everything car. It's an everything car.
No, I drove one recently and the H6GT it's kind of like a knock off of a like AX6X6 design but whereas in the X6 you've got 0 headroom in the back because it's poorly designed because BMW, the H6GT is actually quite. Good.
But at least with the BMW, you're driving a BMW.
That'll break. I got.
But it's a name. Yeah, that'll break.
I've actually got more hopes of reliability in the H6GT.
So there you go. How about?
They send us a car or a check for sure.
Just I will agree with you when they send us a car, yes.
Yeah, correct. Well, I'll, I'll talk to me in
about a year and a half and see how my friends experience with his ones going and we'll, we'll, he's actually selling his BMW because he's buying that so. Yeah, that is, I don't blame
him. So hit us off in about 3 months
when he's selling his halal. Buy something else.
We'll find, hey, if we get sponsored by it, it's all good.
Absolutely. Thank you gentlemen for another
fun podcast. Let's do some plugs.
David Prince Edward Bunting you do a podcast.
Yes, it's called Auto Retro and it's where we talk to guests about the cars of their lives. And there'll be new episodes
edited very soon due to our new and potentially.
Very good. Rob's doing it, not doing
anything at the moment because of his hernia, but he's we wish there. Was speedy recovery.
See, he, he, that's what he wants you to think, but it's just he's gone through all his bookings, so he needs to get bookings back. He doesn't want anyone else in
the man cave. He's not sure if himself.
We'll be outside. Chad's, Chad's deliveries.
Yeah, yeah. Order it, I'll deliver it.
Order and deliver it. Adrian's breakdowns.
If you're broken down, it's most likely him.
Actually, I do have to. I do have a plug.

But yeah, just invite for everybody.
Come down. Send me the dates I'll put on
the page, yeah. Yeah.
Scotty's golfed of the week. My golf tip of the week is to
head to Hemaji Castle because there's a souvenir shop there where you can buy the Titlis Pro V1 golf balls and then got the castle on it. Oh, nice, good, good, good golf
tip of the week. I like that one.
We. Went there, David.

We went there and we were joined by Sean Connery, I believe.

Clayton, yeah. Bosch.
Bosch head off. Oh yes.
It's a bit of a drive for us on the other side of town.
Oh. Get up early.
Come on. Currently Bosch I.
Think you have a red car? You got on the lawn.
No, I don't. What happens if I?
What happens if my car identifies as red?
Is it? Have I actually said something
about red cars? Yeah, it's a red car on the
grass at the front. Yeah, just take a little
section, yeah. Yeah, they're.
Gonna try take a photo of a sea of red.
Yeah, it's kind of cool. That'll look cool.
All the faded arrests would look.
Great, I'm just waiting for the Green Day.
It'll be like 3 cars would be me and two other Mazza 2's.
And Blake Jones was talking about that when when he did the podcast with us. Was he, Oh yeah, he just started
at Bosch. And he one of his jobs is
actually, you know, running, being a part of running at event. And he was saying there's so
many cars. He said we've got to try and
think of some ways of actually targeting, you know, different things. And as an example, he said,
maybe, you know, we just do red cars one time, so.
Yes, you say that it is vaguely familiar.
Yeah. So you'll have a sea of faded
red well. Can I turn up in a blue?
Car a lot opening it's. Just a lot.
Of cars, Yeah, yeah, yeah. You just don't park on the grass
at the front. Yeah, you park in the normal car
park. Yeah, OK.
That's fine. All right, guys.
Thanks for tonight. Fun episode.
Good to hear you guys had a great trip and I'll see you next time. Take it easy.
