ever be able to do again. Thought we were done recording on July 4th. It's July 8th for
you folks who are watching right now and listening. But we're recording at Zuckerman's place in
Baldwin Hills with video. Look at this. A paradigm shift for this show. A first time
and Zuckerman being a gracious host. Very gracious. Provided us with Pizzana pizza.
Meatballs. Stories. Meatballs. Spread. Observations. He's allowing us to smoke
cigars which I'm not sure people are gonna want to watch for the next hour but we're gonna do it.
He eats so many meatballs he might vomit. That's my hope. You
blast me and then I blast you. Yes. You really did that much. It's a reciprocal blast. And it's
fun to be here. This is nice. I mean there was a lot more setup for this show. I'm probably out
of frame but now where am I? Oh I'm right there. Okay. But you know if this works and people
watch it. We could maybe do this every once in a while and get out of the studio. I just got
back from Italy by the way. I don't think I've talked to you guys since then. One of the things,
I mean there's not much to say about Italy. We all know it's wonderful. And we had a
wonderful break. We were there for a week. You know stayed in our neighbor's villa. It was lovely.
We're taken care of by a delightful gentleman named Vincenzo who didn't speak or read Italian.
He speaks Italian. He doesn't speak English. He doesn't read English or Italian. But he's a
marvelous Zuckerman-like character. He actually looks more like Luca Bracci. He looks like
Luca Bracci. If I had asked him to do what Luca Bracci does he would have said yes. Sure. He was
our driver. He liked to smoke while we were in restaurants and take us around. Perfect. We were
in this BMW 7 Series Electric that was just wonderful. That was terrific. He taught me. He was
like look he goes you've got to pass. You can drive in Florence which is which is very difficult.
You can't get it but but our host had it and he said and they got speed cameras there everywhere.
We were driving to Pisa and driving other spots and I was good. I started driving two or three
days in the speed cameras are a funny situation there. We've talked about it on this show but
now I've experienced it and you know you open up ways to think you know it's going to be marked
which it is but the Italians have marked the speed cameras with signs to give you ample warning
to slow down and there were two types of speed cameras. At first you're just like well there's
the warning and then oh there's the camera. Why do I have to worry at all because they're telling
me to slow down in a half a mile and then I slow down and I go pass the camera and then I speed up
right and then you read that some of the speed cameras are different kinds of speed cameras
that register just your license plate and go there's no way you could have got to Pisa that
quickly. So you must have been speeding. Here's a ticket. So there's a very good chance my host
might get speeding tickets and I apologize for that if that does happen. Vincenzo said I won't
get it. He said I won't get it that I was doing it right on the auto strata but he said those
cameras are not and actually I just know way to know he really said that but when I when I googled
when I googled translated it right he went so maybe but when we were driving to
the airport we went through a speed camera and he goes he goes like this he raised the finger and he
goes okay you slow down and so he was I think communicating the same thing to me but that's
not where I was going with this here's where I'm going with it the fucking politeness of these
drivers in Italy for a week I'm driving in Italy there's nobody beeping at each other for a week
I'm on the auto strata there's nobody in the left lane blocking you and when you come up on someone
they pull right over they understand it is so unbelievably organized and polite that you just
go what the fuck is happening here in California what's happening it's like if the Italians can
get it right if the Italians can do this do you know and that's you know what I'm saying
they're very racially charged but I know what you're saying you know what I'm saying yes yes
anyway it really was crazy and there were many funny moments and I won't bore you with
trip stories any longer but here here is some funny little insights into what it's like to
travel we get to Pisa Leaning Tower Pisa it's a hundred degrees there's a million people around
I'm arguing with everybody I'm like why are we doing this I don't want to climb these stairs
and be claustrophobic in a Leaning Tower that's probably gonna tip off and melt you're gonna melt
we're gonna melt we're waiting outside you know outside we're gonna be an hour waiting in this
line to get in and there's Lin Manuel Miranda who wrote Hamilton Hamilton yeah and he's there
with his his mother and his wife I think some kids and he's yelling at them he's going what are we
the kids are going dad I don't want to wait he was he was Erica my wife you know we're gonna
do this and the kids are like I don't want to wait this long I don't want to do it he was just as
unhappy as I was yeah just as unhappy we had the same on sneakers on and I was like there's no
escaping this this is what being a tourist is the next day to dance around together I don't know
I don't know him I was gonna say hello but he was so unhappy like I was I was just like I'm not
gonna ruin his day by doing it then then you know the next day where we go off to Rome we take the
train to Rome which was nice and it's my 25th wedding anniversary so we were going back where we
took our honeymoon we're at the bottom of the Spanish steps and there's Harvey Keitel it's the
same situation by the way 100 degrees too many tourists you need two sets of clothes to get
through the day yeah and here comes Harvey Keitel Harvey Keitel is alive and he was in Rome
beneath the Spanish steps and he's arguing with his wife and the people he's going down the street
and I went oh my god there's no there's no safety here for men traveling with their families
to Europe in the heat dome you got it yeah you got to escape Italy you can't go to Italy in
June or July any any month of the j well well I talked to my Italian friends and I said you're
gonna be fine it's a couple weeks after you're there but they were wrong oh yeah it descended
upon us but we had the greatest trip didn't matter you adjust after a couple days I mean
you're in the Vatican though I thought of you the whole time the level of suffering and I'm sure
I texted you just to let you know I'm suffering because I know you enjoy that but I'm in the
Vatican in a line of people like imagine the most crowded elevator and it's that you're squinched
with people in the Vatican just moving slowly up and downstairs looking at relics you know after
you see relics for two minutes you don't want to see relics anymore you don't want to see anymore
relics now inhabiting heaven it's all just one room we have heaven and hell right and you're in
Perth, Michelangelo, Leonardo intended you're right and and and Milton and my bride of 25 years
he's gotten she gave me the headphones and she wants to play every fucking number on the plaque
and listen to all the stories and it's miles 100 degrees miles of stories and older men than us
we're collapsing on the floor she goes oh it must be hard for him I go it's hard for everybody
this is hard excellent you see that ac unit it doesn't work at the Vatican where's this money
going to right but you'll be happy to know I suffered sacrament you'll be happy to know I
suffered it was good you know I was in Germany at the same time and you were yeah remember
you were the heat dome too yeah yeah it was everywhere I was on the couple different portion
launches including the gt3 sc which that's good which boy you guys are lucky it's good car it's the
best car you know it was real quick we were kilometers away from the french border it was
the hottest day in the recorded history yeah that's right and we're in a freaking convertible yep
and it was so miserable we had to put the top up at like 11 am we just couldn't take it it was it's
so rough it's so rough they don't have ac the whole nation the continent not designed for that
they are going to turn into the sahara the sahara is moving north yeah that's going to be a desert
yeah so here you'll like this story so I got one more story we say at this uh I find this really
nice hotel for us to stay in in Rome and the whole time my wife is like she keeps saying to me
you can't be the ugly american spike don't be the ugly american I'm like why do you keep saying
that I can't help the way I look dear is it look or add what I'm smart enough to know not to be the
ugly american I've been them I've been in many places in the world Cambodia being I know I know
she don't be the ugly american spike so we check into this nice hotel and I'm with enzo the concierge
in Rome and there's this noise this like coming from inside the hotel and I'm making small talk
with enzo and I go and so and there's people around the other uh what do they call me the hotel
workers they're the concierge is laughing right now by the way they're there and they're you know
it's a very small luxury hotel so they're very attentive they're standing around us they go what's
that noise the huh huh and the guy goes uh we have someone with an autistic son
Eric is standing over my shoulder glaring at me and I thought it was a I thought
is that a goat and they and they all just looked at me and Eric is looking at me he was like you
can't help yourself you're the ugly american I I go didn't that's I mean it's not an honest mistake
I mean I I thought it sounded like it was a ways away I didn't know and we're in Italy and we've
been out in Tuscany and it's old timey with animals and chingales and everything else
yeah I've been in that situation okay with my wife screaming at me okay but did he belong to one of
the no no he's a guest it was an honest mistake it was an honest mistake I'm not holding you
accountable for that I know you gotta hand me are these ads my my producer didn't hand me the ad so
I don't I don't know what I'm doing here and I'm completely disorganized you know with those tickets
though the speed camera tickets they will get to you in 18 months okay that's the other thing
Johnny I'm still waiting for my from Portugal from three years ago I never got Johnny Italy
you're exactly right yeah it's 18 month because I know it said 18 months to two years and then
you're like that's the Italy I know yeah those are the Italians I'm talking about the reason I know
is so there's 10 years ago it was it was the week they put speed cameras in I was on the
Audi R8 launch and my friend and I racked up 40 000 euros in tickets and 18 months later
the guy from Audi calls me and he's like um is there any way you could pay this and I said no
there's literally no way I could pay this like Audi's gonna have to take one he's like because
they have your photo I'm like yeah they don't have my name oh that's true yeah yeah you can get off
so I hope when you go back they put you in the clink I've been back many times since but yeah
no the Audi took care of it but yeah that's the same situation I'm in well wait we didn't know
can we can we talk about the SC or are you embargoed uh so the embargo is the seventh yeah I can
talk to all about it oh please go ahead let's go please talk yeah what do you got it's so
fucking good so so wait wait can I ask a question yeah yeah yeah before you start is it as would you
call it a GT3 touring cab or is it different I call it almost an ST cab yeah oh that's what
Rooney said because I'll tell you why I think it's lighter than the hardtop now we haven't
weighed it I don't know but I was just doing the math so it comes it's it's weirdly kind of a bargain
because it's it's 275 000 which I know it's not a bargain but a GT3 touring is now 240 and then if
you want the lightweight package that's $40 000 so you're already more than the base price of the
SC but it comes with the lightweight package it comes with bits off the Vysoc package off the
wing car right so you get the magnesium wheels carbon ceramic brakes are standard you get the
magnesium wheels you get the carbon fiber front fenders and doors off the SC and then
he was talking about the roof the roof on a regular 911 is um it's all magnesium so the
whole the roof itself and the mechanism to raise it weighs like 87 pounds that's
remarkable because usually ever since say the 60s open tops have been heavier they used to be lighter
but they're heavier because of the structural changes uh to you know beef up the firmness
but you're not feeling that so what he explained was um when they did the speedster they got the
body in white from the 991 uh cabriolet it's what they started with and they had to add a lot of
steel to strengthen it now with the 992 cabriolet he said they were amazed to learn they didn't have
to add anything it was 25 stiffer body in white versus so it was stiff enough not
to have a roof didn't didn't need any additional metal added yeah and then the other thing that's
the best news was he said that you know they they just put the regular GT3 touring suspension on it
wow and they assumed that was wrong so they started tweaking it and turned out everything
they did made it drive worse so they just left it so it's just it's just GT3 touring suspension
which leads me to believe the weight is either the same I bet you if you take the wheels and brakes
off it weighs the same and then magnesium wheels and carbon ceramic brakes so you lose 40 pounds
of unsprung weight and then you have a Porsche GT3 manual with a short shift kit off the you know
the Weissach package and it's just perfect I'm going to enjoy this because as much as I liked the
speedster I found it awkward looking I really found the 991 speedster awkward looking I didn't
like the bulkhead right behind my head I'm looking forward to this car and the best thing is you don't
have to get out of the car to put the top up and down it's a button in the car 12 seconds up and down
and he said this was a big request he had a lot of speedster customers they had a lot of boxer
spider RS customers yeah and that the boxer spider RS is a two-person project for the weekend to put
that top up no I do it pretty quick you can once you learn yeah well but it's 60 seconds but it's
not even that you just at a certain point you just take the top off and leave it off but yeah there's
a different area but if you get caught in the rain so this is just up and down put it up this is
but you don't have to get out if it starts raining you know it's a good thing yeah so I was I was
blown away you're gonna like the way I spec that car zuckerman I did a special zuckerman spec for
you I know Andreas pruninger he said you should really do it in silver in fact he sent me a picture
the other day of him pointing at a silver car going this car but um you know you're gonna make up for
past disappointments I just think he's while he's not wrong it does look great in silver I know us
and we like special colors we'll get border silver yeah so I did mice in blue for you they had
because I know you wanted mice in blue I wanted that I did a mice in blue build how can we go
wrong they had one there I'm so horny for this gonna be good the speed yellow for the car oh my
god speed yellow yeah and I saw that and they gave somebody was sending me pictures from your trip
it wasn't you I was doing that I was busy I don't know well a yellow car looks great but it was fun
I went up to the Porsche guy and I'm like hey because I was representing motor trend I'm like
and I was with the guy from car and driver I'm like motor trend and car and driver want the yellow
one and he's like ooh we gave it to the Canadians and I was like why do they need it right well
but the Canadians immediately put it in sport plus mode and then stalled it leaving the parking
lot which is fantastic to be behind but um yeah it is it is such a super wonderful car it's so good
it's so good so what does that do then in your opinion the the 99 2.2 GT3 touring yeah
there it is suckerman look this is the car yeah yeah yeah that's it yeah it's pretty
neat I'll load this up so you guys can see it at home because I think we have one each coming
right Ferris City one what we have a 99 2.2 GT3 touring coming and then that's coming that's
done it's on its way it's just I gotta I got the notification on the app it's coming it's

i don't know 800 pounds of hybrid crap to get the same power it's a 53 they are going to do a 63
but it's it's 100 offset it but it's 120 grand and like what the hell is the 63 gonna cost like it
used to be a you know an e 63 wagon was about 110 115 and this is already more and it's just
they missed it's just a total is that the miss wagons no that's a very thin market
it is it is here they will always that's so um so no they still make the e 450 wagon which is just
fine and now the e 53 and they're gonna do when it comes out the e 63 wagon it won't be the end but
i again they just they just whiffed on this one they just just a swing and a miss and i hate
saying it because you know i love a good wagon and i loved the last e 63 and and again same power
same torque i'm all excited doesn't feel particularly quick in this day and age and it's just like i

seven series bmw which is nice but it's not right for italy and everybody's driving these lovely
little micro cars and i put some of them up on instagram and lots of cute cars lots of fiat's
you very quickly get into a fiat mood and driving something like that but then we saw one genius
guy in the bmw z3 oh yeah late model top down so good that's a smart little car at mz3 that's a lot
of yeah and jack ferristan here one of our staff members said he goes that's the car that's what
we would do here and i was like you're right you know in the us it's not as exciting but there
it's perfect yeah like i even thought the 718 would be too big for those roads and then when i got
back i was like i like this car because i liked it in italy now i like it here so that would be the
car i would recommend it's like something late model box three z3's i drove i drove a z3 recent
like a few years ago but like they're shockingly good that's a you got one with an s54 i think it is
and 52 54 and it's the last bmw with the trailing arm suspension and it's just

a leather wizard come to restore the seats on the 73 rs which was starting to get a little worn
and the job that was done on the seats of the 73 rs so shockingly good i've got to get the 66
9 11 done uh there was a little work done to the shift knob of the evo tube bit Mercedes which
somehow got a little overspray somewhere on it and uh so this so but what i drove today
let's get to what did i drive today the 71 target i have not driven that car for two weeks and it
is maybe the best car we own it is that good yeah it is that good it's great it's got a sweet spot on
the freeway 88 miles an hour with the roof off which is a normal freeway
speed in los angeles yes and and i had the i had one of the greatest drives of my life out to
malibu and back i saw that picture in italy out here in the driveway and i lost my mind that car
is so beautiful to look at when you see ivory black silver and gold elements together it makes you
crazy and universally in each one of those elements in and of itself that is not going to make anybody
go wow you know if you just had an ivory coat no one's going wow and this car gets all sorts of
people to say yeah that's a beautiful car yeah that car is really outstanding that's can i ask
a question yes no maybe you just did yeah that's what we say to that of zuckerman um would you
ever get was a question an rs lightweight if i could afford it yeah sir saying yes sir yes sir i missed
the time at which one i should have bought 2000000 bucks now yeah yeah it's a little bit
are they that high yeah yeah they went really crazy so i'm probably out of that market however
if you saw those are going to come down if you saw that the 73 rs was was uh dynoed at ed pink
racing and that car is running super super well i think rs lightweights are a little over one
like 1214 well i drove one that was i drove a sunroof car that was 2000000 and the
owner was like yeah if it didn't have a sunroof it would be 2.4 that's the owner talking you know
the reality is these early 911s are way down 356 is their way down like so someone you know you've
seen some of the cars that were offered to us in the last week and i was offered a 58 speed
sturt and it's silver black you know with will hoit work and blah blah blah i happened to run
into john will hoit um j leno was inducted into this fever uh uh like hall of fame car
authenticator history whatever it is and i went to the event is really nice event will
hoit was there he said yeah i know the car and he talked to we talked about the history of the car
and stuff i said what do you think it's worth he goes maybe on a good day 295 the guy the owner
is thinking 10 years ago 15 years ago he you know the car was offered to us maybe for more
Solomon or maybe for us to buy and and i said the same thing i said i think it's worth a little
under 300 and the guy went you know what are you crazy right and i was like you know the market
has gone oh no it's not you know where do you see what happens in monterey this august is what i
was hearing and i go yeah you're going to see it go down to 250 it's going to get lower because
these aren't the cars that are moving right now and so just going back to our rest which are the
greatest cars in the world and the lightweight incredible but they are not 2000006
maybe for the best one in the world the best of the best or friend but i bet you you could pick one
up for a little over a minute right now our friend our friend uh who owns the racetrack and has that
dealership was selling a couple years was selling them for one and a half to two yeah not very long
ago yeah well in those two years things have collapsed and we talked
about it when we were at pebble how and it was the year we were there that the the whole market
had shifted it was just on display there all of the excitement was hypercars and that is true
2000s 2010s and and those special and you know what we saw it happen and if i can buy every great
366 in the world for under a 100000 i'll be the happiest guy in the world even if i lose
exactly right and if you're one of these guys like i want to make money we're not talking to you
we're not part of your tribe we like great cars we like to drive great cars and you're exactly right
the good news is the great shits getting affordable right now and i that's going to be uh old 60s

we will then be at the audrain concor with two shows one friday one saturday one thursday one
saturday i don't know but just look you'll find us at the gathering and the next day at the free
show at fort adams and then at this miami watches and cars thing which is going to be i think this
big this is one of the biggest shows on the east coast that nobody knows about apparently i'm going
and your friend is there you're going to be there we're going to be there we're going to do a bunch
of stuff there and we'll do a show and you guys can be part of the show as you know when you're at
these events we record you the listeners buy tickets for all of those events i also had someone
reach out just this week who wants to put us on tour for real with many more dates and i'm going to
talk to them about that too but uh zuckerman you'd have to go to some of these things no one wants
to see just us they give me some money i'll go that's the idea if they send me on the order
miss seven that's the idea get there quickly on the order miss seven boom i'm here i go back
on the order mistake and then boom it's all good and uh next week we'll be back in the studio

Jonny Lieberman's Porsche 911 S/C review is the automotive centerpiece of the episode. The new GT3 S/C, a cabriolet configuration echoing the spirit of S/T and Speedster variants, runs about $275,000 and arrives with the full Porsche 911 Weissach package: carbon ceramic brakes standard, magnesium wheels, carbon fiber front fenders and doors. The manual gearbox with its short shift kit is, per Jonny, exactly what it needs to be. Then comes the hammer: the Mercedes AMG E53 Wagon review. Despite sharing 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque with the legendary E63, Jonny calls the E53 a wallowing, under-braked waterbed of a car with no chassis confidence and a hybrid system that adds weight without soul. His verdict: they just whiffed on this one.
The hosts dig into the 2027 Polestar US ban. Spike mourns the American dealer jobs and real estate investment that disappear with it.
