Good, very good.
Thank you.
Can he hear you guys loud and clear?
Very good.
Very good.
Now that you're here on 9th and 9th North-West FM, where we talk all things cars
and car-related shenanigans, as Allyn would say, he's a shenanigans.
Shenanigans.
Where is Allyn?
Where's Allyn?
He's in a community meeting tonight.
We've got our AGM coming up shortly here at the station.
all hands on deck out there just in the just in the fire of the studio actually
though he's uh he's so close but so far so it's nice to so far um but good to see all your lovely
faces humans a big week of cars big week of updates which will which will cover very shortly
but let's crack on with some car updates chat updates with you man what's happening
anything's with the magna oh not just yet um i spoke to a one paul gatt who's a magna guru
he was in the uh did i talk about this last week i'm trying to remember he was in the
middle of trying to get yeah the skin a scan tool he ended up getting the scan tool okay
turns out he doesn't have the correct roms for our cars so it's kind of useless so he's
trying to organize i think another one or i think he said he's gonna like call up me to
miss you dealers to see if anyone has them like you know around or somewhere probably on a floppy
disc or something you know three yeah and um that's kind of it on that front i'm yeah just kind of
that's it's on the back burner just for the short being short time what else not much has been
happening they'll been too busy with work and family stuff to you know put time to cars at the
moment so um the cars are suffering bosh jimmy you should have you have yet you consider cars over
over over your human beings um what i did drive i know i drove i drove the triangle last weekend
to take some furniture to my mom um and that was good you know good as always i had to take
the the the smoothie hubcaps off because one of my tires were really flat like it was it was like down
quite a lot so i decided i'm gonna take them all off and a friend of mine um shout out to matt lindsey
as a photographer on instagram he gave me this like these the hubcaps was this specific problem
where because they're all metal it's one metal piece thing as the as the wheel is rolling they
make this weird clicking sound okay so that's very annoying especially if you're outside the car at
low low speed it's like this constant clickings yeah you've heard it right when you've driven past me
i was like oh i don't know if it's a feeling well i always thought it was like is that just my
drum brakes like you know binding or is it a wheel bearing or something weird no it turns out
these hubcaps make the sound so he gave me this roll of fabric tape which is apparently what
you use to mitigate the sound so they've just got it's going to go on the on the rim no not on the inside
where it binds to the actual rim and um yeah so that that just sort of will like absorb that clicking
or at least that movement of the i don't know what they are they're like little grabby little
you know metal prongs i guess yeah prongs it's sort of hold it into the rim yeah that's right
so um they've just got to go yeah on that bit of it and then yeah so i'll do that this you know in the
next few days it's just it's like standing cloth tape or yeah it's um he explained it no i'm gonna
butcher it but it's like it's like seems just tape or something like that okay some very specific
but it has like a lot of i don't know has like a lot of grip but also like has enough cushioning so
that it sort of like you know takes that uh the the it's like a bit of a bit of leeway yeah yeah
so i'll do that um but the valves come through the hubcap or are they sort of behind it no they
actually sit inside which is a bit of a weird design so that when you have to fill your tires up you
have to take the thing off which is kind of annoying but you know uh in the two two and a
half years i've had that car that's you know i've never had to do it so it's kind of been
like a thing i'm never able to think about you know you know every time i see your car there's
two things i want to do to it i want to i want to um i've got a good bumper spray to do your
bumpers yeah that's a must and that little trim underneath your windshield yes so every time i
walk to the phone i'm like oh man it could just look so much better with just painted
and then we gotta put the spoiler on and well chef's case that car's gonna get a little
birthday probably in the new year i'm gonna i'm gonna give it some love i'm gonna
you know get maybe just the dents taken out and then just sort of like make it a bit more tidy and
try and recover those bumpers because they are a pain i've tried to miss the black stuff it doesn't
work yeah so i think they're too far gone but this stuff that's the bumper spray you've got
i'm gonna try that out i i did that on my one two four which bump which the bumpers were
munted right um like so i used um i used all the gels and they lasted about a day and then
they just go they were that dry they just got sucked in like yeah it's like the desert yeah well
literally man it was like the body that's the body sahara and um it was like it wasn't a lanker is
i just just said there's there's yeah or it wasn't a cacodoo um so but i i got this bumper
uh this this bump bumper spray and i put it on my god is it magic yeah and it was is it actual
paint it's paint yeah it is it's a spray i just i just masked up around i i got a
bit of a drop sheet and masked it all up and yeah man it looked like it looked like a brand new piece
that's great oh well i'm definitely gonna do that um pretty soon i'd say and then do that front bit
yeah super cheap we've got a fantastic range of textured bumper paints now in greys and blacks
and stuff very nice there you go a little plug for super cheap 100 so uh i mean david is a is a
illustrious trade member of a trade member he's got a trade card he's a trade card very nice
trade card love a trade card that reminds me of in the 70s when um hold and release the gemini
this tc uh tx and the tc which were the first two the first gemini and then the facelift the s l had
a like a full face um hub cap yeah um and they the valves came through those but if they developed
the problem yours had and the prongs get a bit loose that actually guillotine the top of the
valve oh that had been around and and start eating into the the rubber yeah that's guys
who just go flat as a tact there's nothing wrong with the tie it was just the valve was the valve
that's funny we're still the issue yeah so i think caps i think became a pretty
special thing after that yeah just the metal help caps just look really cool though you know
there's just there's some about them um you know obviously period correct for the for the
type of cars especially the taranas and stuff that's super cool um what else nothing else is going on
with cars um yeah that's it for me yeah nice uh uh rosen say rob scuddy doe johnson how are you
me oh flat out flat out flat out yeah with um work and everything so just coming towards the end
and i've got plenty of things to mark and do and i'm hoping job right now actually oh yeah i'm
going bogey and speck at the moment wife peter got me bluey on yeah yeah yeah just i'm hoping i can
catch up with some of it so i can make it on sunday okay no you know you know you cannot
saying can you will because i've got a lot to do before monday okay because monday is our step up
okay yep so i've still got quite a lot to mark and try and push through and i've got people that have
got after school detentions to get things done due to cheating naughty naughty uh yeah so a lot
yes i gotta set up some lessons and i gotta set up lessons for new people that are starting
next year as well and run those ones at the same time so yeah pretty full yeah well on it's all
happening plus reports plus reports yes i haven't even started mine everyone's like have you
done your reports yet i'm like uh yeah man i've done my reports yes we're all up here
yes they're the correct they're in there yeah that's exactly right um all up in the in the dome
so car wise not really anything i haven't touched or dabbled in in any of the vehicles at the moment
yeah i think that sums me up sounds good we're also joined by Rob Zadai hello Rob
good thank you how are we all very good good to see you mate currently going through car updates
david prince updates with you got a few this week okay i'm drowning in cars it seems at the moment
it's something done which is um great if you've got the time if you don't have that
silly thing called work in the in the gets in the way what's that if you don't have that
silly thing called work it gets in the way what's that what's that these teachers always on
holidays these teachers yeah here we go here we go here we go it's on it's on new team new team
kicked he's kicked he's off
been i've been chipping away at the odyssey
bestowed it to an inch of its life on the weekend wrecked both my hands in the process
i've had really sore thumbs and the hands are weak because of the hours of trying to strip the
20 years of junk out of the seats but my goodness doesn't look like it's done through
her in 25 000 k's inside now and i had the headlights done today i've there's there's a
mother and daughter team in the trade they're called restore gx and they specialize in headlights
and windscreens and that and they're mobile um and they have gee they do a good job at
the just i turned to the driveway today and the cars just looks 100 percent better already
you know just with getting that done they wouldn't pass road with either way they were
they were really quite fat and loud and cloudy sort of thing but they just and of course that
model odyssey had the blue inset yes the blue lights in the center so they look really good
i'll send some photos through the chat um so you're chipping away on that the downside is
that now it doesn't smell like you know 21 year old suv now it smells like dissole
and um and cleaning stuff but it's getting there grawn precipice i was lucky enough to
when i extracted the 88 accord out of my neighbor's garage they kindly offered me some space for
some other cars so of course i put the grawn precipice in there in august and thought oh i might
take this to classic japan pulled that out it's still having trouble with the with the rear brakes
it's offered to take it from italian tuner which is yes of course he has which assures me
you'll sort it out but i thought no i'll pay to have this fixed so it's going back that's going
back on tuesday to the picture is it so i've got a tiny coolant leak that they'll check out for me
but i just didn't want to take it to classic japan like that so i think the scam piece came into
classic japan nice that'll that'll be the go there was i was keen to get the ln the panel van
there as well um my friend david had uh it's been sitting in his factory for a very extended
stay and he's been good enough to be starting it and um always said look it's the the most reliable
car i've got my whole place like he said that's um and he'd take it for a drive out of the industrial
complex and stuff but you know just for a short trip so but about a month ago he said oh it
there's something wrong with it he said it's not idling it doesn't like to idle like it'll
start and drive but but once it it watches when it's idle um and then i heard last then
i saw him on the weekend he said oh i took the carbie off the scam but i'm having a play around
with it i thought oh no here we go this is some tricky times but uh i caught up with him briefly
today and the two of us sort of nutted it out um and he couldn't find the float level and i
remembered i remembered oh i remembered certain carbys on another in 360 um yes were overhauled
and something in the back of my mind triggered that because he couldn't find the float level
because the the k-hand carbys are different to the early carbys that have diaphragm where it's
here there's got a plunger sort of in them and the only specs he could find were for the
the earlier diaphragm style ones and i said i think they're the same ones as the goldwing
1111 no way really so you know the goldwings have four carbys and of course the scams have one
oh how did bed bring a goldwing engine in a scam that'd be cool
oh imagine that high voosa
oh yeah they're a flat flat four flat 16 flat six
you know uh goldwing yeah flat six yep yeah okay like a 1.2 liter or something something
strange there's a 1.1 liter or 1.1 and then a 1.5 actually oh all night googling
d15 so anyway i've had the specs for the the float level was 21 mil should be 21 mil for the
for the goldwings so we tried that started first time yeah just beautifully idle lovely so
that's back however what we didn't account for was the fist size hole in the muffler
that's the level who is starting it so it sounds like a freaking race car at the moment good
but yeah so i doubt that'll be there on sunday either but but i said to i called it about
four o'clock and said let's just simplify our lives i'll bring a car you bring a car
let's drop in cars here and there overnight the night before and getting running them around
i said it's that's never good so so the scape is on total care so i'll just i'll just get in it every
morning and start it like i it does and just zing down the m i think it's the m11 you just come
off the m11 on the way down to the peninsula at cranburn road and you're there well there you
are um that's going to be good looking forward to that absolutely uh it should be great it
should be really good it's about me i think rub my w108 got towed away the other day sold gone
got sold gone that's the green one rub green one yep nice congrats yeah well yeah congrats and also
condolence sorry to hear the miserations but you know hey you know if i always want one i can
always buy one i made millions of them yeah yeah so it's not like they're hard to find
and they're not overly priced if i ever really wanted one and i've got a beautiful you know 300sc
there that's um the best of both worlds so i don't that's a beautiful car that is that is a yeah
so my my 40s that um for some reason the government keeps on taxing us and i keep on
paying taxes and i'm always broke so um i'm trying to work out which which car i need to
unload next is it the Mustang is it the the transit's going to go that that that's given
or you know the the e30 BMW um it doesn't owe me anything doesn't cost me anything it
runs well starts well goes well but there's 20 grand sitting there yeah and then i go 20,000
that'll be one less insurance one less registrar oh the registration's not much because it's
club plates so i'm just sort of like you get to that you know the the talent of your life and you go
you can't sustain this anymore with all the taxes it's killing it'll get you i'm just it's just i
don't know i don't know how um people are starting off and how people survive but anyway um
so i just have to get rid of maybe a couple more cars maybe a motorcycle so i only have one
registered bike not two registered road bikes yeah just the vehicles i'm just trying to consolidate
vehicles you know um i don't mind club plates and that's why the e30 is not the higher on my list the
Mustang's probably and and the transit's probably the first two that'll go yeah um that way there's
no big insurance fees isn't it there's probably you know two granting insurances there it is another
you know 1500 dollars in in registration so you know you're looking at three and a half
grand a year on retirement that you have to find somewhere yeah yeah and it's just um ridiculous it really
is um uh it's a shame you work all your life for this stuff and and then you just have to get rid
of it because you can't afford to have it yeah um that's where it's come to with my cars that's
that's the depressing thing about me the e30 is i think you really like that car i love it i can't
see you getting rid of that one just yes but we'll see transit piss that off first yeah i think that's
the first one again yeah but that's that's going as soon as i can get rid of it so just have to
clean up the the fuel cap i cracked it um it got snapped off at the the dog jumped out of the car
too quick and the league got caught and so i've got another fuel cap for it they're only 20 bucks
they're not much but they have to get painted up i just need to find a good painter who can
paint something in time um and i'll get that done and um yeah i'll fog it off yeah yeah nice what's
your daily rob what do you drive daily i um foot power i walk i've got about a full maybe a five
meter distance to travel every morning yeah it's all about traffic's pretty hard out of my yeah it
would be my office yeah a couple of animals in the way or something yeah a couple i've got a
trip over to the german shepherd um but he's always in the way he's always on the foot um so the travel
times e tags tiles fuel killing me but i just can't keep up with it anymore uh till work i'm gonna get
the smallest violin and start playing that right you know if i had to drive to work right i think
i would have um frowned italian and said goodbye no more no more because riding a motorcycle
through the city along the e tag from keelor to um dine and road it's still costing me like
50 or 60 dollars a month yeah yeah absolutely uh right the bike is supposed to be cheap too right
yeah motorcycle's supposed to be half price yeah so a car is paying double that yeah double that with
a car and if you got a u even even worse yeah and then parking on top of that in town like
they've increased the parking around our area and reduced the hours that you could be there so
you got to move your car around so the parking um in a sort of like in west melbourne he has become
harder and harder and there's a lot more apartments going up everywhere around west melbourne so it's
it's not easy to to drive a car park in the motorcycle's all right you can still park on a
footpath and get away with it for how long who knows the council want to clamp down on that too
should there'll be a motorbike parked that they'll send you on they'll find something
that they will eventually to make you pay for it one way or the other um that's it's one thing
that we've still got here in melbourne is motorcycle parking is free so for how long we don't know
yeah so travel time is pretty short for me everyone so it's it's good working from home um i'd say
but wear and tear fuel tire parking um i'd probably save at least five k a year easily yeah okay easily
and then on top of that you know like yeah my car's got low k's my transit's only got 12 000 k's
it's because it's not even in the road rob yeah i know i'm surprised that you've done that much
in a dealership for six months of that 12 uh 24 months and the Mustang's still got only 30 odd
thousand k's on it yeah well and that's a 2017 model so it's getting on there now yeah
yeah how many k's your x-6 turbo got 40 oh my god really 40 yeah yeah so that's another car
that needs to i need to take for a run um but more often i just started up in the garage and then
let it run for a little while drive it out drive it back in and put it back up on the hoist
yeah i can't afford to reach on it just to tell you i just i i i registered it for the
second or third time got it re-road where we had re-registered let it expire got registered
again had it for a year let it expire just wasn't driving it yeah working from working from home and
i don't want to clock the case i wanted the car so i clocked it's brand new i think the
anniversary turbo like the i think they only built about a thousand of them yeah they're quite
there's not many yeah so yeah it's hard to sort of like clock up the k's on it but then again
i've looked at the fpv's and all that sort of stuff like um even the duties of you know
their vintage they're not fetching big dollars really in the grand scheme of things they're actually
quite reasonably priced for what they are yeah a hold and i don't know why uh holdings are so
expensive it must be all the um the the slobs buying all the hold no it's all the uh it's
it's the australian car mate komador that's that's that's a bogant tax bogant tax yeah that that
that'll get you yeah yeah like well you i think you're in better stead with your 50th anniversary
turbo because i think a lot of them from memory the and now david prince is gonna laugh at this but
in do you remember the floods we had in like 2010 they all got washed away up in queensland
like like like lots of them did oh yeah 50th anniversary turbos and stuff so that's probably
happening again now yeah and it was like 50 or so wasn't it yeah there was a there's a good
drug that was just built in it with like brand new cars why they just like never got to live
it or something oh no on the lot that's wild so yeah the new car smell mixed in with uh mold
so yeah the 50th anniversary i think um that's that's my son's inheritance um that's all he's
gonna get um he's not gonna get anything else because i have to sell everything else
as much as i'd love to uh put it back on the road and drive it occasionally here in there
in a forward day and bits and pieces um this weekend i'll probably take the e30 out to uh
the long revival yeah oh yes oh that's all yeah that's on this weekend um along with the medieval
fest so that that works in well with the bmw's you know do a bit of jousting i like it i like
your tie in ruby it wasn't bad it wasn't bad i thought you were talking about like old technology
yeah that's it that's it that's okay so yeah i'll be at gelomino weekend just um
look they're gonna have a big week they're gonna have motorcycles cars all sorts of um
vehicles out on the on the grass so it should be good a good weekend they're looking forward to it
awesome it'd be great updates with me i've had a busy week with cars which has been
different from my last few weeks i haven't really had much i took stef's car which is the
my old forester which was my brother's old forester which was then my sister's old forester now it's
stef's forester so it's it's been around the family run around it's it's it's it's been the it's been
the family hack it's it's technically thomas's car really yeah it's it's he's probably gonna
be mistaken even the dog has a car even the dog has a car he's he's gonna be mistaken
then and i do at this point so he's um so he thomas's forester uh went in to get to get
looked over and a few things done um because we're taking it to adelaide end of the year so it was
pulling really hard to the left for some unknown reason and the clutch pedal was just like the
master cylinder was on it was it was pretty high so it was sometimes you hop in the kind of pedal
be on the floor and you know gotta gotta do bloody pump up the jam to to to get the pedal back
so i and the aircon's like really noisy and and it was blowing out like like a like a like a
wheezy old man like what they had to it was like like there was like no fan pressure or anything
so i was like look you know it's it it was due for a birthday on a service anyway so i was like
i'll take it in to get to get those things looked at anyway uh so i get a call the the
compressor's about to cease because it's it's just that worn out for the uh for the aircon
he's so he's like you put any one of those and then he quoted me up from his aircon guy
that was going to come do it $1,500 and i was like absolutely he's like man i know you work
it too cheap you price it up i got it for like 350 so something massive deal so yeah obviously i
still got to install and re-gas so all in all about probably 500 bucks which is i'd rather take that
save a grand absolutely so got that picked that up the other day i got a new tx valve for it's
just because just just just to to be safe then of course when the car was there they kept it overnight
the guess what the clutch pedal didn't fault it it was perfectly fine and it's been it's been
on and off for it's been doing this for a while so i was like i was like look what are you gonna
do like it well super is quite common to do slaves and master cylinders so he's like you know
price of a price of a master cylinder so i price all up through work gonna get that so that's
all getting done on friday that's getting put in it got service and you'd be surprised i took a leaf
out of ed bunting's book and put a new cabin filter in it and guess what we now have a bloody working
fan so this i was just it just clogged really clogged up just clogged and i was like fire out
and then i went through the if the invert comes the files when it was last changed
my brother first did it back any when he got it in 2019 so no 20 i think it was 2018 he got that car
so that was the last time it was changed and it's done like 200 000 kilometers since so it's a lot
of dust it's a lot of dust a lot of crap and crud and oh man it was just like a it felt like
you know it was i was like i don't even need to change the compressor anymore this is until
it ceases up on me so they got that in got the new oil and filter done and then they said
matt the car wasn't pulling to the left you just had a flat tire and that's that sounds about right
doesn't it so so they do that happy guess what it doesn't pull to the left anymore it just drives
it drives straight ahead so just like pressure there's no pressure yeah um because like it's
like it's been pulling to the left a bit i'm like oh yeah and i should have just but i haven't had
time to to check it and stuff and and go figure it was just a puncture all the tires you've got on
there they actually hot the they hide the flat very they do as well like it's got a very stiff
firewall so i'm all sorry so i think yeah you can't even really tell unless you go and check the actual
pressure right 100 so it was rocking 10 psi oh my god oh that's really bad so it was it was
it was he's like mad i'm not impressed i'm like yeah i don't know i'm not impressed i saw it like
two weeks ago i know like not even it wasn't noticeable it was fine so i don't know but
anyway um so that all got done last thursday and then it's going back in fight it to get the air con
done and then should be happy days for adelaide in a in a few weeks time which will which will be
which will be great so so that car's had a bit of love it is the family hack it's that it's
thomas's car just it's just covered in thomas but i do like it's i clean it and you know thomas
can't help it you know he's he's got to come for drives as well you know he's part of the
family as as you guys know so uh you know he's he's lucky you know i'm not normally a leather seat
fan i was just putting it out there but thank god that car's got leather seats because it makes it makes
cleaning everything so much easier um so yeah it's all the slobber all the sand and all the
poor prince and this and the fur the fur doesn't stick to the leather you can just wipe it off
yeah yeah so yeah that's that's been done with that that's all good i was going to
time to get my camry pdr that that read that regard but i called um david's good friend uh denis tap tap
as he's known in your in your context uh so he's arranged for me to bring the car around to him
on saturday before classic japan but i'm really hoping we get washed out this week from cricket
so i don't have to play so i can take the car there uh so otherwise i've organized my mother
to take the car for me she owes me a favor i've helped her out of our family over recent times so
she's like yes i can take the car for you so that'll be that'll be getting get that done ready for
classic uh japan i was going to say classic not japan that that's us uh for classic japan on
sunday which is what i'm about to talk about now because i'm bringing two cars for
ed matthew's Toyota which is it's going to make his debut gentlemen of uh you know the the new
dealership opening up new dealership opening up in 1989 it is uh ed matthew's Toyota i've got to pick
up my my signs yet i'll do that tomorrow um so but yeah classic classic japan this weekend
really excited crud and farm so it's actually ticked i looked up i looked it up it's a it's
actually a working farm oh really yeah yeah oh interesting i've never been there before
thomas isn't allowed to come unfortunately because the unless he's because it's because of that
it's an actual working farm so so he's a little bit disappointed he couldn't bring the forest up
but uh but yeah so i'll be taking the mr2 down and i might get you to drop the camera for me if
that's if that's cool no problem at all and if it's raining there's some beautiful trees
and you can be out of the rain when it's going to be bucking down on the weekend absolutely
i think it is yeah well i think i've been keeping a close eye on on the weather
and it says you know it's going to rain from like 12 o'clock to about four um so that doesn't bother
me that's okay it's probably we can get there before the right okay we'll be all right because
driving an mr2 in pissing their man is diabolical and it's but but anyway so yeah looking forward
to it and matthew we've got to get there quite early to make to make that happen apparently so
we need to be there on the on the gate it's going to be an early morning seven a.m. yes i'm
like that now we'll probably know that i think they let the first cars in at nine so they're like
we need to be there virtually at nine yeah so um so yeah we'll we'll have to make our way over what if
you sell them i know yeah what if people go like this is so cool so retro yes here's my money
you know what if they paid me thirty one two hundred and eighty dollars excluding government
charges for my camera you know what they can have it they can have it have you got the
window stickers made up yeah i've made them all here so so they're ready to go
they're more than happy to take them david prince i'll be like please take this off my hands so you
can have 980 prices or 20 25 prices there any original prices from when they went with the
red book pricing from when they were new in 89 and 88 and it's like a 60 000 other car it's a 60 000
other car yeah well there you go what do you reckon about what should i 60 grand at least
how much is a full fully loaded camry now it's got to be sick it's got to be 60 right
xd's right sure easily enough to like a fully loaded camry hybrid would be would be at least
60 pretty good deal then like in terms of you know how much the car was worth back then and now
no i have to be yeah um so what would you say no i don't think they're that much now
i mean i mean an accord's a lot more than that i don't know like an accord oh yeah but it's the same
60 yeah so so uh so uh alantras no no no so now um sonatas um yeah so like they're you know that
segment of cars is like taking over the the large car segment which which they were in terms of
pricing so yeah like they'd have they'd have to be getting up there i think david's doing a fact
check right now as we say as we speak but it should be it should be a really really good event um we'll
have to take some plenty of photos and and and uh um 61 148 dollars drive away for a camry s l auto f
there you go see there you go david 58 58 s l that's pretty that's a low um is that a low
spare car is it i'm off with the camry you know they're all hybrid though now all the camry
it's about 40 40 41 49 okay 46 or a stocky yeah well yeah a sense sport so i think that's the base
yeah 47 9 9 that's quite a good deal yeah they're not bad and they go that i'll tell you what i
struggled to get around one on the motor the electric motor uh this must have had it i don't
know it must have been the top of range the super fast one whatever it might be they come up with the
v6 today they still have the v6 no they're two point five lead hybrid but the v6 ones went bloody hard
yeah they they ripped they absolutely ripped but anyway camry talk welcome back to camry talk
so the event is on sunday i think it'll be a great event come say hi if you're if you're in the
community to um you know you want to say hi hi to us being car salesman um i'll make sure to have
like a bad car which i'm really doing that i'm trying to sell my car i'm trying to sell my car
seriously if they i think dude if i offered me anything about anything you just tell me please
you know i don't give them my commission i'm not gonna be able to feed my dog
so so there are two cars i'm taking well chad chad's bringing one so again thank you for
bringing that car for me chad that's much appreciated um david prince you're bringing scampi
scuddo i believe you if you if you make it you'll be bringing the r31 yes very good excited to see
it that'll be one year since yes since the car made its debut almost oh no it was it was oh no
that was a Sakura right yeah no that was it's been about six months ago about five six months
yeah yeah yeah awesome that's uh it'll be really good so it'd be interesting to see what the other
boys are doing i don't know what are they're ed's bringing the Tarago i know that and Andrew Riggles
is bringing his sv-21 uh wagon nice so so we'll we're gonna have you know it'd be it'd be a
kemri bonanza gentlemen um so that is that is what every clear out kemri clear out come and come
and see us for for a for a clucking good deal as you know the camera so yeah but look it'll it'll be
it'll be good fun i'll need to talk to you guys about some some logistical things to to bring on
the day if we fight if you guys have got anything to to do with that that'd be a big help um but
yeah we'll we'll talk about that after the show so what are you guys looking forward to on the
day gentlemen before we get into our topic of um uh cars uh uh can't movie car a to f list a plus
to f list in terms of tier tier ranking um tier list firm yeah because everyone's doing doing this at
the moment so we might as well just jump on the bandwagon um a tier list uh what are you guys
looking forward to most i'm actually looking forward to the new venue i've never been to
cruden farm so um if you know i've never never been that'd be cool it's a great day for ducks um if
it rains there's there's a nice pond there so a nice um big sort of willow type trees and
there's stables and and whatnot so there's a little cafe there's a cool up so you can
go and get something to eat um so it's all there nice so you'll be coming from there from
the uh the long revival robbie yeah yeah i was there for last year's Mercedes concourse
and you have to pack a picnic lunch to get there it's a long way to go yeah especially from keelaw
yeah yeah yeah it's a bit of a hike but it'll be it'll be worth it it'll be it'll be a good good
good time good times great classic kids go on it for actually i should be saying that in this
program yeah i'm on the wrong station obviously i'm on the wrong station so it should be a great
day let's hopefully see you guys there um but let's get on to our movie car list now i've created
this incredible shea jane uh a price a bit all the way down to uh to f um uh which is meant to
be the top so if it's a hundred percent yeah if it's no s s and then normally for normally for
the high tiers yes but you know i'm a high school teacher and i know from the a plus to f to f ratio
so that's that's the that's the matrix so yeah so so explain how this works many so i want to
give you a car yep and we're going to discuss where it belongs on the the the the scale now
in terms of ranking these cars you know it's you know there can be many cars in a plus there
can be many cars in f there can be many cars all scattered over the over the over the the the
matrix um and and the levels but um you know the the way we rank them is up to is up to you so
you could you could think about in terms of um notoriety like how well it's known or uh you
know cult status or you know cool factor or whatever like whatever factor you want and
but you can you can you know we can come to some sort of agreement with before punching the screens
i think that's where we will place it on on our on our list of um on our on our on our
illustrious like a very cool top gear cool wall quite literally yeah yeah okay cool we should call
the uh the car talk scotty you're good with names like yeah like no one scotties golf tip of the week
that works well hello to be give me a bit the car talk car rank let's call it the car talk car
rank not car actually that's probably sounds a bit like a different word we'll we'll we'll
just leave it at the at the uh at the car talk the car talk worldwide ranking board of
Dr. Miro ranking yeah mat school the mat school we will give it a mat school all right so first
one i'll start with an easy one because you know i want to gradually get harder and i want to get
into cars it because everyone's gonna say oh you know the back to the future car which which
will which we will get to but not and probably not on this episode but i want to get into i want
to start with a car that that it kind of everybody knows and it is um the start scheme hutch grand
terino and it's by all accounts not a great vehicle uh but my god is it cool and it's and
i've seen a few i've seen one in i've seen one driving from high point shopping center really
and i just followed at home well not not all the way i was just following it and it was a replica
it was a replica i had the light on the roof and everything oh no in the big white straw it
looked so cool that's very cool um so i was just trying to get behind it just just have a look
at it because it was you know start skiing hutch uh famous tv show made into a into a remake movie
um with ben stiller and ol norsen which was it's actually a good watch it's it's it's it's it's
very very enjoyable so we'll start with that one because i you know i was thinking about that car
when i when i brought when i kind of come up with this with this idea uh what the where do you
think that car would be ranked the gentleman because it is it is the the car people think
it starts again how so they think of that grand terino it's it's it's like back to the future they
think of the you know it's it's it's it's i think for some movies and shows they've got the iconic
car that's that's that's the car when you're first thing you think of when you think about the
future i think of the door in so i don't even think about marty and and and doc like i mean
they're close second but it's it's the it's the door in so uh where do you think on your
illustrious scale gentlemen from a plus two f i'm happy to start i am going to go b
b okay and the reason i go b is because i feel like it's it's a fairly well known show
but a lot of people would say it's a ford but not realize it's a ford grand terino so you'd have
to keep explaining that it's not like a a famous model of car you know it's not like a it's not like
a ford Mustang or a um you know kamaro or something like that that kind of stands out that being
what's a little bit kind of obscure so it kind of doesn't reach that top top status i would i hear
what you're saying too and i think i think that's a really good point but i also think too
um the show and stuff like like yes i had a bit of a resurgence back in in the mid 2000s but
a lot of people now like especially younger people wouldn't know what startski and hutch is
yeah and and and they would they would say that can't be like that's just just an old car like
they wouldn't actually really know what you know what it actually represented and um i mean for
us we all know what that car is you know it's it's it's i think it's it was super cool but
yeah i i i get why i get why you're saying that scottie so that that's a really good point
where you don't where you where you're right in the air i was thinking
precisely the same i was thinking be it is cool it's red which got the white stripe that was very
off the time because it must be about a 73 or four something i think it is yeah yeah well it
could even be a bit could even be a little bit later actually i want to i'll look i'll look that up
yeah um but yeah that that the the stripe so iconic of the 70s and that sort of thing so
yeah pretty cool pretty cool but 76 grant arena 76 okay um yeah i'd go i'd go be it's not like you know
that wasn't the car that came first came to mind when you when you think movie cars with me but
no up there good good choice good choice rob yeah depending depending on how many cars you want
to put in that category in in the b-class or wherever you want individually oh you said they
cannot you know you put as many as you want how many going all right so be i'll go be okay yeah
i'm happy to agree with the b i i quite like the um the white stripe the tick or whatever it is the
design of it goes over the roof to it goes over the roof yeah i think it's it's nicely like
done for a car like that i would agree i want to agree for a different point about being a b
um like i i i love this car like i think it's such a cool car but from all accounts it's actually
not a very good car because too for a lot of the scenes in the actual show and i did a bit of
research on this car but before before i'm doing this doing this episode uh you know it was yes
i had a big v8 but it was so it was in the middle of the oil crisis and oh and it was so choked up
with emissions like it couldn't even do a burn out like it was it was like genuinely so they
had to put a lot of diff ratio they had to um they had to like you know up the compression they had
to actually work the engine for it to to breathe better and do things and and by the end of it was
actually quite a quick car but they had to do all that work to you know to actually make that car
you know as special as it as a yeah as it could have been um so yeah i think i'm gonna i'm gonna
agree with you guys i think the start ski and hutch grant arena sits in the b category so i'm
going to put that in the b category so it starts again hutch it's 460 cubic inch i know it's a massive
engine it's massive and it was so slow no it's so slow um but god it's cool like i i i would
happily have one i'd i'd rock the crap out of one next one is a later movie called um called drive
have you guys all seen the movie drive with ryan gozling absolutely nick don't you haven't
seen it david okay well the first car he drives in the movie it's a chevy impala but it's a front
wheel drive chevy impala it's a later one but um still it's still it's still ls ballad or variation
of an ls v8 um was kind of like cop cars cop car ish for a while the reason i'm bringing that car
up is because people remember the Mustang in that car which we'll get to in a in another
and up in another episode but this is a car that kind of really you know it was the first kind of
car in the movie and you see him driving and it's it's a bit of a chase and um trying to get trying
to get from trying to get any parts in like a like a baseball stadium or or what have you and
it was quite cool if you look it up david it is the drive uh movie and it's called the um uh impala
yep and it just looks like a a base a basic it just looks like a boring 2020 10 um you know
impala that's that's what it looks like it's a very boring car but it has movie credentials and it is
kind of you know it's kind of got a cool history you know being beat and being ls powered um wanted
to see what you guys are what you guys are thinking for for that one i'm gonna pick you to
go first again yep keep the order i'm probably gonna put it down around the e
okay wow that low okay uh the reason being is because i feel like that whole movie the jacket
is more recognizable than any of the cars or the film itself okay the the amount of people will
address an art wearing that jacket and buying that jacket was absolutely everywhere and i feel
like that was actually what majority of people got from that jacket compared to the actual cars
i actually wanted that jacket so bad i want to see what i mean
fair enough so so you're you're in an e uh have you seen the movie trend yeah yeah would you be
in a grant or would you think scotty's being a bit too harsh on the old impala uh i would go
slightly higher just i think the car is not cool but for the purpose it's being used for us
interesting and it's interesting to feature a car like that in a movie like 10 yeah i agree
it was it was an interesting car yeah it's definitely an interesting car choice and
so yeah so so you so you you reckon it's a little bit higher because it because it's a bit
of a car that was a bit understated and you know she probably deserved a bit more credit
i think it's understated i don't know if it deserves any more credit than like it was
for the getaway right it was yeah like it's like in the first the first getaway thing
but it's not a car that's not does anyone own that kind of well i think the mechanic i think the
mechanic gave it to him oh okay yeah as you know he's like look it was it was written through the specs
300 something horsepower you know yeah understated because they were police cars at the time as well
yeah also that's got to blend into traffic yeah it's a boring car that was kind of fast yeah
it's boring so it looks like a bloody catfish does yeah it's not a great looking it's not a
great looking car yeah what did scottie say c plus he said e oh e sorry uh i'm probably going d plus
a d plus okay so so we've got one and e one of the d plus rob have you seen the movie drive
i do but it wasn't so memorable i can't really remember it but i'm sure i watched it um you
remember the jacket that's about it yeah and the poor acting um but yeah d i mean not memorable at all
d and david hasn't seen it so but i just i just googled it and it said that it was the um 2011
was used because it was um they assumed it was the most common car in uh in america at the time
but that's been corrected um because the Prius was actually more popular
well i think if they use the Prius they may have not been able to get away
they didn't have to be 100 which rob couldn't get away from yeah
so so i mean david probably hasn't seen it so he doesn't really understand like what in inverted
commons couldn't really um couldn't really rate it so that's okay you can sit this one out
i'm yeah i was kind of i was kind of like a like a d a d a d area um so if we average it out from
we had one d plus we've got two d's and we've got an e um i think it takes us to like a low d so i'll
give i'll give a d i think for for that one so i'm gonna write uh chevi impala drive next one
and gentlemen uh we'll go we'll go through a few before we get to the car quiz but if you
guys are more than welcome to add to add any of yours in this list as well i think we're gonna
come back to these lists and then have a bit of a bit of a discussion because we do want to find the
ultimate uh the ultimate car from from from television and movies can i add my for transit
has been in the movie and it's just been picked up to go into another two movies over the next
couple months oh really really what you seriously and so i'm not selling it enough until after
it goes through to be right so satellite dish on it it's going to be a tv van um it's going
to be in fit square in about two weeks what oh so they're filming something with it yeah they're
filming something with it how how did you end up with this i can actually drive it in the film
you're gonna drive it um no i'm dropping it off i'm gonna let them drive it yeah nice yeah so i've
got a cracking idea for how you can get your car fixed for free yeah just say what did you do
to my diff yeah and then some big budget movie or medium budget movie ends up paying for it yep
that's this genius yeah i mean i can use it as a stunt vehicle
you can do what you want yeah do what you want set it on fire crash it past your
four transit yeah just drive it into the yarrow
i though i couldn't get away vehicles in the day they were good get away vehicles in the day the
old the old transit so the thing is rob your transit's been in tv already where will you put it
where will you put your transit let's let's put it right down maybe z for zero in the f
category rob's transit there we go it's in there rob's transit it's a rob sorry i had to add that
that's look that that's that's fine i'll i'll allow it rob i'll allow it now um another one from uh
from a movie this one is the the most unloved fast and furious car ever i think personally the
most unloved car tow Reese's eclipse spider oh we're talking about this last yeah it's in too
fast de furious it is the most unloved car all right with and in to be fair with some good reason
it wasn't mechanically modified at all no it was pretty much you know the v6 you know
four cam v6 manual um spider did a bit of research and that comes back about that car that i saw
just recently actually it popped up not long after we talked about last week the interior
was completely different actually it was i saw this as well on the interior
were ridiculously expensive as well cost more in the car and the sound they use was from a
different car but i can't remember what i think they said a Subaru or something yeah they use a
sound for the car instead of what it normally sounds like sound like crap anyway so yeah
i watched the interview with Tyrese because he was the he was the driver of that car
mr um room yeah room in pierce that's right and and he's like when they showed me the car he's
like how the yellow interior like a spider web livery he's like it was terrible i made him
change it so i didn't have to change it either so what was that they didn't have long to change it
either yeah well i'm glad i did a really tight timeline to try and change it and do the whole
interior did you see the pictures of the yellow tear it was horrific it's disgusting what was the
original exterior color it was purple oh i was that purple okay just had it just had a different
like um bizarre different vital graphic on the oh yeah yeah okay mr bishi coming along go oh yeah
yeah we got cars we'll you know we'll sponsor it you know we got the evo we're like oh thank you
which is which you know you gotta take this as well you can have any car you want but you have to have
the spider yeah feels like that kind of car doesn't it really yeah it feels like you know
look we'll give you the car that you can't even sell in america because like they didn't
sell evo sevens in america that's the car they robbed us from that's great there is a roman
pierces um eclipse 3g eclipse the yeah the evo seven wasn't was never sold in america it wasn't
wasn't allowed to be sold in america no um but they put in the movie and then they gave me eclipse
so because i think that was probably the only cool thing that they offered i would have said just
put an order eclipse in the in the movie again like you know because the order eclipses
yeah like from the first one yeah we're just bringing out a 3000 gt or something oh yeah they're
selling them at the time i think so why not so that car is pretty terrible muddy that was
that eclipse i mean all right chad well where you where you ready to get chad oh it just
even for its time i think it was bad which was that was a cool type of car to make but
even for that time i think it was i'm i'm definitely going like a e okay so e for eclipse
e for eclipse is chad still going e it's it's my first f f now f yeah okay because i mean they even
had to use fake sounds and i know they do a lot of like different engine sounds and stuff like that
but i mean they used to wrx what the hell like the competitor brad no competitor brad yeah
and it was just such an ugly car from every angle and the rear spoiler and the rims to go
with it i mean those rims would have weighed half a tonne each i amazed at moving it was probably
automatic was it automatic that was a manual um but i remember uh the reason why uh a good friend
paul walker said no to that case like it's got too much chrome for me anyways in regards to the wheels
so so there you go i think he was with you on that one uh scottie rob where are you on that one
i'm thinking of what it could have been it could have been an evo sort of type stealth car
could have been could have been so i'm going for a d d dave princeton you do you remember
this car yeah yeah not not not a huge fan on any level i'd go but i do love an underdog
you know i was talking about it in such strong terms i'll go e-minus e-minus says uh david prince
so so far we've got e-minus e f and d i'm with you i'm with you david it is a little bit of a
a little bit of an underdog i do like the engines and those i think yeah magna magna related magna
related engine that's 6g it is a 6g engine yeah and the fact that it came with the manual i
probably uh i wouldn't go to convert one of those but it was kind of cool i guess and the girl picks
picks uh paul walker's character brine up in the in the the turbo charge prelude to two fasty
furious was in a was in one of those exactly the same car just just not just not modified
uh so mr missy missy missy were really trying to plug the car and i think because they were
trying to plug that car a lot product placement at any movie i just feel like it's just like
uh because everyone remembers every other car in that movie except except the eclipse
like people remember the saline Mustang that gets driven over by a truck people remember the the um
the beam the view that rolls uh yeah people remember all you know the the yanko kamaro and
stuff but they don't remember the the eclipse fondly so for that for that i'm i'm going to
also be an e um so i think that kind of evens it out to pretty much in e really yeah so e our first e is
the um two fast two furious eclipse spider so more memorable than ryan gozling
just saying it i have one all right jad the the perjio 406 from the movie taxi
french taxi yeah uglier sent to look at it's horrifically bad so bad but just that car in
its stock form i think is really cool yeah i'm not is that a pen and freeran does i think it's
it's i think the coupes were definitely pen and freeran okay yeah um where the four doors pen and
freeran david you know this if the uh the 406's uh i think they were ready yeah yeah so because i
remember the i remember the the coupes had him on the side yeah yeah uh but yeah i'm quite fond of
that car yeah and i think in in the modified taxi spec or in your in standard spec in standard spec
but the fact that they you made a car like that for the movie and drove the hell out of it i don't
know it was really cool yeah and then it being chased by like uh five three fives beamers uh like
just super cool i really like that and i i think that's probably like a b plus car for me
that's like a b plus movie car yeah okay this is a really cool car yeah it is a cool car yeah i'm
i'm in a grance with you uh rob sorry it was actually laron rossi was the designer of the saloon
i would guess and the but the coupe was definitely pen and freeran cube was definitely okay there you
go so i can't say i i don't know if i watched it or whether it's memorable or not i could say
i'll watch pretty much every car movie that's ever come out and there's a lot of ones i want to
forget um unfortunately because of that bad but no i can't remember it all right scottie no i haven't
seen it i haven't seen it so do have you seen this movie i haven't seen this movie no i'm sorry i've
seen this movie i'm with you people are really gonna they're gonna freak out when i see it you know
not it's it's ridiculous here it is oh i don't know if that looks cool so so it's got like a massive
front chin spoiler big rear spoiler it's still got its taxi little light at the top the taxi light
don't light don't light so for the fact that it's kept us double i'm with your channel i'm on b plus
yeah um so taxi a website that supports the creation of replica taxi 406's
taxi 406.com there you go there you go very cool here's the thing the the 500 re was was also in
the movie taxi as well from like the with the 406 so like you know yeah yeah any other ones for you
guys gentlemen from me on to my last one of the evening oh well when you when you talk about cars
in movies i mean you can't really not talk about nesta martin db5 can you yeah okay well
i mean that that was that was one of the ones i was gonna i was gonna i'll say another time no but no
but let's do it now so it is the ultimate kind of movie car really isn't it in a lot of ways
i reckon i love the fact i mean it was it was um first featured in 64 in gold finger
silver birch astin martin db5 and then was obviously used in sub subsequent movies but
the coolest nod to it and i think the fact that makes it an a plus is the fact that it
then was found in a shed in london in um skyfall yeah and then used in skyfall again oh yeah true
that was cool that was a very very cool throwback and nod to the the history of the franchise i reckon
yeah absolutely i remember watching the movie with with my friend james and he'd already seen it with
his dad and and his dad's a big fan of that car and in them in that movie you know spoiler alert
it gets destroyed but as it's getting destroyed his dad was like audibly loud in the cinema
so that's that i will always remember that scene but so it's yeah it's got such
such prestige and heritage that like for me you think astin martin like the like the second
thing that comes to my mind is james bond yeah and the fact that you think of that with a car
yeah it really personifies like like you're thinking the z3 as oh yeah that's that's james bond you
think of you if you're really thinking about oh is it that was it that was in um uh golden eye and
you know it was you know this anniella but like it but it's uh it wasn't a oh astin martin that
that's a bond car you know so right so yeah by the way i found a list of 25 best james bond cars
do you want to know what number 25 is tell us a 90 series land quiz a prado
as it should be it should be where does the citroen 2cv feature on the list oh let's have a look
let's see how far i have to scroll for sure land rovers yeah plenty of those oh here we go
number 20 number 20 there you go oh really that low the yellow two cv yeah from for your eyes only
yes so so david prince you're an a plus for the for the db5 scottie do i plus 100 i was always
growing up as a james bond fan i used to always watch the movies um pierce brosnan is my my go-to
he's your guy interesting yeah i think because it was just
my generation it was just yeah his movies were coming out when i was really got into it and
then i started to watch some of the older ones and some of the other vehicles and things so
yeah it is just the car and when i got to see one in the flesh oh yeah well it was more than
one it was quite if it was probably about two or three of them that were there but oh they're just
so good there's there's no way anyone can look at that car and go ill that's yuck yeah have you
worked on one david a db5 yeah quite a few over the years i can really remember oh they're beautiful
they're like they're like an exclusive what you'd imagine exclusive men's club is like inside you
know like chrome and um mahogany and soft leather cigar smoke yeah yeah a bit of cigar smoke a bit of
waterford crystal you know clinking in the cup holder you know but interestingly i think it's
i think they're it's um they feed into each other i think the fact it's a bond car makes it cooler
and the fact that that it's an aston martin makes it you know cool to be a bond car sort of thing so
it's actually like a self-perpetuating sort of thing much made in heaven yeah correct yeah absolutely
mind you i've got to say standing next to matty j well he was lost in awe at the 2000 gt in the
Toyota museum in decoyer as a moment i won't won't quickly forget either we're getting to that
one next oh that's the last one before we go to the quiz tonight and i think we can do a
few episodes on this we can we can we can revisit it every year this often too because because there's
there's so many lists and we're going to find the definitive number one car but um so so yeah
i want to add to that point i think aston martins they should stick to just gt cars i don't want
to make like crazy supercars like for me they're latest i'm not having a go at aston like
they're wearing their latest stuffs incredible and and all like but like for me an aston martin
should be that kind of you know gt crew gt car big power you know beautiful styling um you know that
you can classy it should be a classy car 40 correct yeah so like like a dbs or or db9
you know it's just like especially in in casino real which is that it's not like i'll get to
a little bit later just it's just the proportions of like they're a beautiful car um and the new ones
are just like a bit ostentations a bit over the top so they've kind of gone away a little bit from
from the cool aston that that i've known till to love but because like when they when the db9 and dbs
came out i was like my god is that car gorgeous and cool so and and like they kind of remind me
of that's what a db that's what i that's what aston martin should be uh like a db5 kind of
esk styling yeah um so yeah i'm i'm all aboard the the a plus train on that car like it's it is
you think us you think us the martin you think db5 you think db5 you think james bond and
you know having those that strong connection with all three it's gotta be an a plus for me
whatever you tell me a plus a plus it's a it's just such a cool car rob yeah and i'll give it an
a he's just i'll give it an a um so yeah we'll put it in the a plus category it's it it deserves to
be there that's the martin db5 probably do a whole episode on just bond cars oh we could
quite literally we could be good and the latest load yeah that that the spree we can we can come
back to that and the spree's got a really cool history as this to how they got into into being
a bond car they uh they basically took all the badges off it put it at the front of the
production place and they walked in like what the hell is this no we want this and then they
they found out what it was oh yeah that's how that's how they got it that's so cool so the last one for
tonight is the um the lovely uh toyota actually you know you can you can introduce this one
david prince you mentioned it you can introduce this one okay so the 2000 the movie was you only
live twice twice yeah uh and it was 66 because i i know that because i've spent hours slow tracking
through looking for scams but of course that yeah so uh uh yeah so and toyota were very keen to
all they were keen to make this movie in japan and toyota we were keen to have a kind of it in
in the in the franchise unfortunately shawn connery was too tall to fit in their 2000 gt so
they actually cut the roof off two of them to make it into a convertible so the
movie and a 2000 gt is probably it's controversial i know but probably one of the most beautiful
cars in the world yep i it's definitely the prettiest japanese car ever made um well that's
that's a little bold statement too but now i agree i've got i've got to agree i'm gonna call it's
a big call i know i'm gonna i'm gonna say it's i think it's the prettiest japanese car ever
made it's it's it's yeah the the lovely thing about them is that they're one of those cars that
until you see them in the flesh you don't you know really appreciate them that they they look
amazing in photos but once you see them in the flesh and you appreciate the detail and the the
almost the the the pertinence of them they're smaller than you imagine they are they smaller
the smaller than they look in films they're probably not much i was going to say mx5
yeah yep they wouldn't be much bigger than an mx5 but they don't look that in the photos
bulk very front a long a long a front heavy front heavy yeah yeah long on the front
the first time i was i was with david in japan oh gosh early 2010s i suppose we found ourselves at
the yokahama classic car festival and there are about seven or eight of them lined up my eyes
and david was calmly walking along and explaining the differences in the earlier models to the
late model around the around the lights at the front and the you know see how the grill is
and and i'm just standing there gobsmacked you know i could be able to do it were you like david
just just yeah let me just let me just take a moment just a moment um but yeah i mean they're
amazing i've seen some photos on instagram recently of them being spotted in tokyo and
stuff out on the road in tokyo and they look amazing in modern day tokyo on the road itself
they still look they still like would fit in really nicely today um completely great and yeah
and like it was pretty special david because we got to see the actual bond car in the factory in
the bus the actual one that's really it was like it was a like i mean do you and i were like
we walked away from the group at that point and and we're having a look at it and like it was
kind of like david and i were just like it was like a pinch yourself moment because that's
it is the movie car shorn connery sat on that seat like it was just you know it's it was just
it was insane um and they have a Japanese lady said would you like me to take your photo yes
yes we would yes absolutely we would which i'll include in the in the chat it was it was done
quite well it wasn't done it wasn't a poorly chopped chopped rooftop like you know she they
kind of did it okay done um it even there was one on the other side that was a remake of one
but it was but it was done it how would you explain that it was done by another guy i think
and it and he i think he did i think he did even better job to be fair like the way yeah the
second one it was it was uh had been converted not that long ago i think it was like a much
more modern interpretation whereas you know the 60 years ago now that they were was when they
had released and would you say david likes that car it was a controversial statement but
would you say it looks better as a convertible oh it looks bloody good it was a class it looks
really good as a convertible the fact it wasn't how they were meant to be the fact they were
meant to be a coupe um but it's it's like honder s600 coupes versus roadsters you know the road to
me is is the the one you know yeah um but the um uh yeah look at me they look stunning as a convertible
i've got to say yep yep especially being driven around by that what was the girl's name in that
movie i can't remember her name was i'm gonna go home i'll watch this movie now though yeah yeah
okay and i open the the the beautiful wood dashboard which is the the other yamaha
yeah uh from aside from the head um yeah the woodwork from the piano department was what they used
inside and in the movie there's a great scene where he opens the glove box and there's the old
you know cathode ray green in the um in the in the glove box it's really cool see whatever prince
if i ever won the lotto i'd buy you a i'd buy you one all right there yeah that's a nice thing
anyone said to me and i'd buy robert transit that actually worked
one without a diff yeah one without an e-transit yeah e-transit correct all right ranking time uh
david prince i think i know where you're gonna be yep a plus a plus scottie yeah same same yeah i'll
put up there to ask about yep uh it's yeah a plus i think i think we're all a plus is like that that is
yeah pretty high tier gentlemen um uh 2000 gt it's very interesting how they did the
how the rear looks so different on the convertible yeah well you know the ruthless one yeah
you're just having a look at the differences and it's
it's because like you almost forget what if you just looked at the the ruthless one you'd forget what
the coupe looked like yeah because it was like really different yeah correct yeah but the car itself is
still the car like yeah it's bizarre like that's why i like this when i was sorry in real life it's
like it's done well like it looks like it could have been like that yeah yeah so how come they
how come they only built 337 of them were they not popular they were quite expensive very expensive
but if they would have mass produced them i'm sure they would have been cheaper
you're only talking 20 years after the war so i mean you know there was still
it was pretty limited market for people that could afford cars like that yeah um yeah that's
true so and and the the cost of producing was pretty massive too you know the world the
the type of the the techniques and the around the the welding at the front and all that sort
of thing that were not a cheap car to produce so that's explains the cost obviously as well as the
exclusivity but interestingly there's a company is it in Malaysia Malaysia i think yeah they're
redoing them they're doing them really i'm gonna send you this video it blew me away like
relatively good jobs like they are they're taking chassis of crowns so like with with one jz
turbos right man like manual ones it would just say bespoke chassis or or they've taken they've taken
the front sub front front rear subframes bespoke chassis and they're hand crafting these these metal
body aluminium bodies creating creating a modern interpretation of two thousand years that's
crazy cost is everything they actually replicate everything yeah and they they the job is incredible
like that they look stunning like i think if you if you could afford a real which let's be honest most
of us can't um i think that if you but if you really had to have one i think that'll be the way to go
yeah one of the million dollars i think they are yeah i think that's worth every cent it's a quarter
of the price of a handmade car so yeah how much is an original original original three years
million really oh yeah okay yeah yeah so so i think if you budget it's such a popular car if
your budget doesn't quite extend to quarter of a mill there is a conversion kit for them uh to an
namx five have you seen those yeah i haven't yeah wow see i really love the thought of that i think
well i'll tell you i'll tell you just count here's an idea rob we sell all your cars and i mean
i'm gonna i'll i'll chip in a little bit of money and then and then we'll buy two thousand
shits a replica yeah nice yeah we sell transit you know yeah that'll be a star yeah done all right so
let's look at the list so far um and we'll come back to this in a few weeks time uh so in our
episode robs transit uh e is currently too fast to furious eclipse spider nothing in e plus d is
the Chevy impala from drive b is the statsky and hutch grand terino the taxi 406 and the a plus
is two bond cars the dbs and the 2000 gt i think i think we made a good start gentlemen yep um
and we'll uh we'll revisit this and we'll come we'll come back to that and basically what we'll do
is we will um once we get our like our top tier cars we'll have to to battle out to see which is
the ultimate movie car in in the mat score hashtag dug the mirror we're not copying you at all and
gentlemen i think it's time for the quiz where is so scottie has kindly offered us time for
to do us the quiz today yeah i haven't done it in a while so i thought you know i got a bit of time
i'll give a crack um it is just a lot of random stuff there's no theme it's messy and mushy just
the way i like it it's just like i know just things that just rapid fires just the way my
brain works it's there's no there's no um it just doesn't make any sense so sounds good sounds
good just got a bonus questions in there okay so we've got to have those bonus questions absolutely
all right let's get started what happened to mclaren on the weekend
about
disqualified in lost uh vegas
one bonus question is a bonus question is uh why were they disqualified is everyone else
want to jump in no you can have a day without going david you got it now we get a bit specific
it's something about the cars were too wide no rob the excessive wear on their bellypans too low
maybe yes okay there you go yeah so the rear skid blocks um too low they have regulations on that so
they were hitting the ground too much so a lot of scrapage happening um nothing to do with
surface they've always had troubles in los vegas haven't they with the surface
bonus points look how much did um lando lose how many mill
you know i don't know of a mill meter or something like that for lando
i've got it all here so the race inspection revealed that the rear skid blocks on their
cars were below the minimum required thickness of nine mil norris's car uh had measurements of
eight point eight eight mil and eight point nine three mil while piastries car measured eight
point nine six mil eight point seven four mil and eight point nine mil that's quite literally a
beeswizard like like why but it's because the lower it is the better um the better aerodynamics
yeah that's the stop part if there was no ruling or anything to do with that the cars you'd speak
sparks non-stop like they just haven't flat on the ground all time um so not only that as the um at
the start of the race the cars would be a lot quicker quicker yeah and as the as it wore down
it would get less and less but if everyone is on the same plan if there's a rule for it then
everyone has to manage it to a certain degree yeah and they've got to understand their fuel load and
everything like that as it wears down at the same time so are we seeing a lot more sparks at the
beginning then at the end of the race yeah it was interesting because they told lano to back off
in the last few laps of the race and they were like oh it's because of fuel but then
i think it turned out that they knew that their um their skid plates were too low
or they they were they're wearing their water wore down too much that's why they told to back off
and you know so in other words mclaren shooting the bed absolutely yeah and the funny thing is um
they were saying at first like lando push push push you know you've got to get past
max yeah max here's this and then knocked out like three fastest laps in a row
yeah they just told them to stop um conserving anything so that won't happen next year when they go
with ford their dips will blow up yeah it's your uncle making those dips or what i don't know if they're
dealing with the f1 division whilst they're still with honda but steppin's got a chance yeah they go
to ford yeah i'm gonna i'm gonna graze with you uh but just just putting out it max your
stephanie he's he's an absolute freak like he's he's an android he's he's he's not real yeah he's a
he's a robot i honestly hope that somehow he wins a championship he'd be a bigger shock oh it'd be so
funny he's had a he's had a shitty car all year and he's he's well not not a terrible car but like
in comparison in comparison to it mclaren's been bringing into the table yeah and he's just like
and he's still competitive and it's mclaren's a mismanagement no this has just become a f1
got cast there land i lost me when he snubbed uh uh basically danie rick oh danie rick yeah yeah back
then yeah score check david and robin won myself and chatty at the score question number two chinese
manufacturer gack or gac i'm just gonna call it gack is planning to drop more than 10 models
over five years god so they're gonna flood our market they want to get in the top 10 cars sold
what's they do uh one of its new models coming out now is called the gack m zoom and it's a small suv
that's actually petrol powered and not ev this is going to be closest to how much will it cost
matthew matthew see the chinese keep battling each other for like the cheapest car on the car on
the market i want to say 12999 australian australian australian wow wish we're thinking the price here
is um drive away too okay well i'll say $15 000 just so you know the the price that i'm going to give
you is drive away okay so i want to say 15k right okay yeah 18 i'll do 17 five hang on so so wait
so robert did you say 17 18 18 charges 17 five david i'll do 18 five 18 five geez geez you guys are
pity like this we're talking about the cheapest car you guys are going like dirt cheap so the cheapest
car at the moment is a um is the pecanto manual and that's around about that that's around about
that money around about the 18 grand uh this is going to be 25 590 geez okay okay wow so david
david for being for being petty you've got the extra point okay when you can what can i say
check out the m zoom it really does remind me of a mazda cx3 maybe that's what they're doing
the m zoom so like zoom zoom zoom it's it's a complete it's a complete if you like a bastardized
cx3 and a nissen dualis or a kashkai or something yeah it is a little bit isn't it a very nissen looks
to it i can see kashkai there yeah i shouldn't have a bad looking car i mean you know as much as
chinese cars go don't say that i don't mind the um that it's em zoom em zoom i thought it was just m
that's weird weird name weird name i don't i don't mind the mehindra the little baby mehindra i think
that's i think that's a cute little car yeah they're funky i did i see david it's it's uh
uh anyway moving on moving on question number three mesadies amg are
axing a few cars next year why matthew matthew emissions yes i'll give you that thank you
i'll take it yeah okay anyone want to be a bit more specific for another extra one point
or uh david um compliance to regulations already in place or lack of ability to come to comply with
regulation with with what regulations specifically what regulations that will be coming into place soon
in europe matthew yeah go matthew no you you you're still guessing sorry sorry i didn't
realize you were still guessing no no no i um i can't emissions emissions euro euro something
yeah i was gonna say euro eight is it euro eight nine okay nine more more specific like you're
thinking emissions as in like the pollution side but different other kind of pollution
um c o twos no i mean i got no idea carbon footprint nope uh emission is it like the
is it not the emissions that the car makes but it's car makes it the car is making yep i have no idea
tire smoke 20 burnouts by mj's yeah too many more no any ads to all the heads bro
mr rob what did you say noise yes oh really oh wow i mean look yeah an e 63 s or whatever like
there's a dog guy's like wildcard it's a wild noise to make dirty noise
well okay does anyone want to have a guess which ones so which chad is this going to affect
oh okay chad yes chad is it the a45s engine yeah it's all the four cylinders so that's the c 63 the
c 43 glc 43 and gl a c five jeez all the windows built engines stilantes is it he will be gone
goodbye um and they're looking at changing the c 63 back well not back to a v8 but to a um six cylinder
hive six yeah just give up Mercedes from the hybrid but they're still going to keep the v8s in
their g wagons for our car hasn't changed in the 70s yeah exactly you know some things can't change
europe is going to have noise rules now what about ferrari and stuff this group
he's going to have these like real quiet ferrari's whizzing around it's going to be so shit
they already make hybrid ferrari's and they do yeah it'll just get fast this zero emission stuff
don't get me started it's the biggest rick wrought joke yeah you tell him scottie you tell him
info how to tell you to god anyway let's quickly move on or else we'll be stuck here for another hour
with me crap in question number four in 1968 aliet handler came up with what toy brand
matthew matty hot wheels yeah hot wheels oh cool came out in 68
i can remember the red wheel tires on them okay the early ones had red wheel red red wall tires
red ball interesting no red wall a red line around them yeah yeah
question number five what japanese motoc corporation introduced the debonair in 64
as it's oh yeah davis got it it's so fishy hey yeah it's so fishy it's so fishy i mean can you
beat a name like that for a car that's pretty seven air like that just sounds so classy
sounds classy that's cedric that's for sure yeah
i've got i've got a cedric what do you got i've got a debonair yeah cedric it just sounds like
something just poor nerdy kids sitting in the corner it sounds like a bubble i've got i've got a i've
got a i've got a um i've got cedric in the back he's how he's helped me out with the dishes
yeah debonair is sitting down in the lounge room with a pipe
watching tv we could do a whole show on japanese car names too there've been some
crackers through the year oh yeah that's been joy pop so yeah joy
question number six british greek automotive designer alec his seagorn is seagorn is yep
designed what how do you man oh damn it well basically well he's the most famous one was the
mini miner which was actually the austin mini to begin with yes i keep on yeah the rest of the
question was developed in the late 1950s under the name ado 15 that's correct front wheel drive ado 15
um he's a greek austin austin the greeks does not everything apparently so it was the greeks
invented windex i believe windex yeah that's right all right we're gonna move into a question that
will then have two bonus questions okay because sad news we heard over the last couple of days that
alamoff it passed away recently recent peace is um the first question is where was he born
matthew just he's canadian yes he was born in canada which state
which province province yeah i'd love that up if you know it i'll give you a point if you know
ontario nah oh he's not he's not corebeckian i don't think he would be speaking french um montreal
probably vancouver no i don't know i don't know i don't even know if i can pronounce it now like i
could pronounce it in my head and now i'm like i've overthought it is it corebeck no siss siss siss
the sketch yeah the sketch on what yeah that one i'm pretty sure i read it siss oh no i'm gonna
suck i can't even say sasquatch sasquatch sasquatch sasquatch yeah he's a sasquatch sasquatch yeah
yeah rest in peace i'll rest in peace i'll i could say find in my head before when i was
reading it and now i can't say the word sasquatch on yeah people thought he was a yank for years he's
like he's like he's like i'm not a yank okay another question to to move along with um moffat
our moffat would come and go racing in australia but he really made his impact in 69 to 72 winning
101 touring car races from 151 starts what car was this jeez oh rob rob was it a Mustang
was can you give me exactly what kind was a like a there's a fastback i think maybe a 68
Matthew uh not not necessarily the year that i'm after but i'll give you half a point
half a point to right Matthew yes Matthew was it a boss 3a2 yeah it was a boss 3a2 yeah
they're so cool i like those um my bonus bonus question is who was the main sponsor on this car
rob rob was it coca-cola yeah there you go there's a flyer gentlemen that was good good work
i heard um moffat interviewed that one of the first races he did in australia was
Bathurst like he came out to race at Bathurst and as he climbed the hill and then across the
skyline he made the mistake of looking left and of course there were no you know guard rails or
anything back yeah it was scary and it was he said that was the only time i ever looked left going
across skyline he was a bit of a largely live character wasn't he he was yeah so he's yeah
rest in peace um yeah because i remember hearing not that long ago maybe a month or so ago that
he was at the stage where he actually didn't even remember that he raced cars yeah it's a disgusting
disease it can get that you can't even remember such a large part of your life anymore horrible
yeah quite funny the tv reporter when he was in in the home uh said he was a holder man and
he looked at him in disgust yeah he's he's got some interesting stories people should um just look
up give you a little teaser uh during one of the races at at mount panorama he spent most of the
time with his seat belts unbuckled and looking out the out the window because he had a small
oil leak and it was over the windscreen you couldn't see oh yeah so he's looking at the side window too
yeah and unbuckled it was it was a different time there wasn't it oh it was mental it was the
they were just tough if you take your seat belts off in a race car now the i think the whole
thing would just like yeah yeah you'll find um i think we should do an episode on him because
he's he's quite an historic individual in the australian automotive land or world automotive
landscape really um well i'll have to get some i'll have to get some feedback and get some information
about him and um yeah particularly in um as to our acceptance too yeah he did yep very successful
very successful i've got a photo of him actually and i took the photo when he got pushed into the
wall at baffest he was on two wheels oh wow actually i was at that corner that year yeah
that'd be cool to see all right yeah i think it'd be cool if we could do an episode around that yeah
okay question number eight a museum in bowling green kentucky sure meh meh i just can't talk today
meh meh realizes which american car model which has been produced in this town
since 1981 Matthew Matthew since you said 81 yes since 1980 is a corvette it is yeah because i
know they weren't they went to they moved corvette to kentucky so yeah memorializes is the word i'm
trying to say my apologies i just cannot speak today these words are too big for me memorializes
memorialize question number nine and 1959 catalac meteor miller became famous for what movie
meteor catalac meteor miller became famous because of what movie uh a movie not a tv show no

5.5 sorry mates sorry shenanigans shenanigans where's alavid i think there's gonna be a bonus
question for the corvette museum wasn't that the one that fell out sinkhole yeah oh yeah that's right
that would have been a good bonus bonus question uh
it'll be our next week's quiz next year next year yeah what fell you know next week's quiz as well
you might as well put that one in there right yeah what fell down a sinkhole yeah corvettes
yeah that's a podcast gentlemen yeah um let's do some plugs uh rob's firefighting electrical rob's
doing it as we know rob's deforting rob's rob's car selling rob's car selling rob rob's transits rob's
rob's transit in movies in tv shows rob's moving vans uh anything go go see rob um chad's chad's
chad's delivering it delivering it delivering it to a place near you delivering cameras this
weekend apparently uh scottie's off to the week um when you're gonna buy a car make sure it fits
your golf clubs oh that's a that's an important one yeah that's interesting as the poor old
blade not pulling it's doing his job it's fine just gotta fall down the seat
if your car doesn't fit golf clubs it ain't a car
needs to fit two sets doesn't it oh at least jeez okay it could be you and your buddy
well my mr2 can't fit my cricket bag so it actually sits in the front seat in the passenger seat
no no way yeah like in the foot well it sits up there and you just put it in a seat belt
i put it in a seat because otherwise it rocks and it can hit the dash and then david
