Before it felt like this kind of like supportive, friendly,

Where now it's like, you don't know anything to have as a comment,
or a post on Instagram about the 2020,
2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix over the weekend.
So many comments have been like so aggressive,
be like, you idiot, Max has won it.
Like, what are you on about?
Like, delete this post.
Like, no one's got any chance except Max.
And then, obviously, now everyone's commenting,
be like, how do you feel now, mate?
Yeah, because, I mean, that is a newer thing to be fair.
And this is not being derogatory to Max.
It is mostly Max fans.

I've seen so much of Max fans being aggressive.
Like, over the years.

Like, they are just really aggressive, mate.
And I think it's a newer audience as well.

is because whenever we talk about F1,
the comments actually gets a bit grim
and a bit disgusting.

share our views and opinions of the race.

I'm pleased for him, because he, and to be fair for him,
he was very magnanimous in victory.
He was very good in the way, because he knows
he's had a lot of critics over the years and people saying he's not good enough
and blah, blah, blah.
He's only there because of the money and all that nonsense.
But you don't win a world championship just through that.
You have to be good enough to win a world championship, it's not.
And then to protect myself as a council argument,
I have always said that Formula One drives,
they've put them all in exactly the same car.
There'll be two or three temps between all of them.
And this proves that that's the case.
How?
Well, because he has won, and no matter what Max fans say,
that Red Bull has been fast this year.
And we all pedal, put Max on a pedestal,
and I would tend to agree he's the best driver in the world right now.
And he is, clear.
But he's also, for the last four or five years, had the fastest car.
Right?
Back in the last year, you would say that the McLaren got on level par
and maybe was a bit quicker in some races.
And then you would say at the start of this year that the McLaren was quicker
and the Red Bull had some problems.
But it's not a shit box and then it gets that close to winning a championship.
Again, I go back to the fact, the reservation that I have with the greatest of all time
claims with Max is that Lando has fought all year, not just Max, but a proper teammate.
Because Oscars, I know he's only been in three years, but he's considered a proper
future world champion and Oscars beat him, fair and square.
Lando's beat Oscar, yeah.
Sorry, Lando's beat Oscar, fair and square.
Max has never had that level of teammate, essentially, science, but that was early on.
And that's a real, that's a big thing, mate.
Because what happens, what's happened this year?
I'd still fight you on that point.

the driver that wins the driver's championship is from the team that won the Constructors'
Championship.

So this isn't about Max, anyway, I just wanted to point that out.
It's just that I don't like the claims that people put him on that pedestal as the greatest
of all time and all that nonsense, because I don't think that's been proven yet.
I'd be happy to say that he is once he's proved it, but I don't think that's been proven yet.
Yeah, going back to Lando, he showed everyone throughout the course of the year, especially
the second part of the year, that he is a proper, full-on, proper driver.
I've seen so many bad comments over the course of the weekend about he's this and he's not the
best driver, he's not the... Like, let him have his moment, mate.
He's just won the world championship, which, by the way, there's now four drivers on the
current grid that have ever done that and 35...
No, that's the more impressive thing, 35 F1 world champions ever.
That's the matter fact.
It's an incredible achievement.
It's been a long time since we've had that many world champions on the grid.
It probably goes back to when Schumacher came back with Mercedes and you had Hamilton,
Schumacher, Alonso, Reichenan, Rostberg, obviously retired, so I think five champions on the grid
at any, I think, correct me if I'm wrong there, F1 fandom.
Well, look, can I pick you up on a few things?
Firstly, I think the Verstappen teammate thing is so not fair, because I would argue Ricardo
and Perez were in their primes and in their moments as good as anyone, and I think Oscar
three seasons in is no better than a peak Perez and a peak Ricardo.
I think neither... Well, Ricardo is debatable, but neither is necessarily delivered or definitely
Perez didn't deliver in that Red Bull seat in the way that people expected or hoped,
or that was necessarily competitive enough against Max, but as we have seen time and time
and time and time and time and time again, that car is built specifically to suit Max's
driving style and most other drivers, 99% of our drivers cannot extract performance out of that car,
but Perez at his peak, I would argue, is or was as good as Oscar has been this year because
Oscar had his, you know, losing of his mojo for whatever that would be, and I thought was what I
loved in the commentary, which by the way, I thought Rundle and Crofty's commentary was really bad
on Sunday. It was very downbeat, lacking in a lot of enthusiasm, a bit fumbled, like it was a bit
of a... I just thought it was weird, even when he crossed the line, there was a real lack of any
kind of like, yeah, I saw that. And Lando Norris, it was like, and there he goes. It's very strange,
I thought that. I saw that as well. I thought, why didn't they, because I was expecting a really big
whomar, especially a British driver, but they've had some criticism over the last couple of years,
Sky as well, with championing British drivers. But even for their highlights,
they haven't got that moment of Lando. Very weird moment. But they said, or Brundle said,
each of the three drivers, Max, Oscar and Lando, it's really been a season of peaks and troughs,
like they've both, they've all three had their moments, at no real point were all three of them
on top form. Like there was maybe one or two races where all three were kind of
extracting the most. But Red Bull had their slow start to the year. There was a great piece as
well, which I saw with Ted Kravitz speaking to Oscar Piastri back in Canada, maybe, where he said
that he'd spoken to Christian Horner, so that their strategy was essentially to just stay as
close as they could for the first half of the year. And then from the summer break onwards,
and Singapore specifically really turned the screw, which is exactly what they did. And Max
turned up his level and the car was arguably the quicker. I think the Red Bull was the quicker car
for the second half of the season. I agree. And to be fair to Max, because as well,
the level of driver that he is, I don't think very often, I can't think of many weekends
where he doesn't turn up. He gives 100%. He rarely, which is, but not contradicting my argument,
I'm just telling you that this is what he does. He is like an eight or nine out of 10,
and sometimes a 10 out of 10 every week. So maybe his form was consistent, but the Red Bull form
wasn't. Fair. And then Oscar, well, Lando had a dip in form at the start of the year for him.
Then Oscar had his dip of form in the second half. So that was kind of how it ended up with
these three drivers at the end, which is what a Formula One World Championship should be,
the whole point about these championships. The reason why the Schumackers, the Alonsoes,
the Vettels, the Verstappens are so impressive is because of the consistency of their form,
not just year after year after year, but throughout a year. They're able to operate at that level,
because realistically, there was a real chance there that McLaren or sorry, Lando or Oscar,
we're going to throw away that championship. Max really just threw, as you say, the consistency
throughout the year and just delivering exactly the maximum of the package that he could every
weekend nearly stuck in there and grabbed it. I think we've seen that from him for many, many years,
even before he won his World Championship. That Red Bull car has been fast for a lot of years now.
Of course. And people forget that even in Mercedes dominant years, that Red Bull still won races.
Of course, yeah. They've been a top team since 2010 onwards. They have been a championship
contending team. And the way the team operate, you can see from a professional level,
it operates differently to McLaren. 100%. The not just Max doesn't make mistakes,
the team, they nail it. When Mercedes were dominant, it's a package, isn't it?
Because there's lots of people involved and football is the same and all these team sports,
there's lots of people involved. And when they're all singing from the same hymn sheet,
let's say you win championships. And that's what Lando proved like, was they may have had
peaks and troughs, and he may have had moments where he was theoretically underperforming the
package. He still got the results that were required to win the championship. That's how you
win a championship is just, you've got to extract the maximum across the season. And unfortunately,
Oscar's dip in form in inverted commas was more significant than Lando's at the start of the
season. And so that's where it kind of all mounted up to. But I mean, I am ecstatic for Lando.
Because of multiple reasons. Firstly, it's a new story, a different story for Formula One.
I think it's refreshing. I think he's a very different F1 driver. A lot of people hate it.
A lot of people hate the fact that he sort of shows emotions, talks about,
wears heads out, admits that he finds Max a faster, more all-round driver than him.
All these things, they're like, oh, this is so weak of him. BS, I'm sorry, welcome to 2025,
like, grow up. I think it's amazing that he's been so open in his mindset, his struggles,
admitting when he's not feeling it, or because who cares? He's done it. It doesn't matter,
you know, like how you go about it. And so are you dealt with it now? Over the years,
you know, lots of champions have been questioned in terms of, you know, how they've gone about
things. And, you know, when Rosberg bailed after winning a championship, people are like, oh,
because he just couldn't handle the pressure of coming back. And it doesn't matter. They did it,
you know, like, and I saw it such a fascinating moment. Think about his life. Lando knows specifically,
you know, literally from whatever age that has been his goal and his ambition. He's worked every
day, day and day out to be F1 world champion. And there must have been moments where he thought,
oh, I wonder if this is ever going to happen. And it doesn't for most. No, of course it doesn't
for most, like 35 ever. You know, like, you know, it's ridiculous. So, but he's now achieved it.
What a sort of sense of absolute overwhelming pride and joy. And we saw that. And I loved his
reaction. I thought his reaction was perfect. It was not, it was sort of celebratory, but not
cocky or arrogant. He was very graceful in the victory, showed that emotion with his parents,
you know, all of that stuff. It was kind of perfect. But yeah, so I just think it's cool.
I think it's a change up. You know, I saw a great meme. You know, the Verstappen thing is so interesting
you say, like, even you, like, I think you share quite passionate opinions about him one way or
another. And I really like him as a driver. I even like his personality. The thing that I
challenge is the greatest of all time pedestal because I don't think he's proved that yet.
I don't think he's proved what Schumacher Hamilton and I don't know a great deal about,
but Senna, they're the three really that stand out for me personally. So, and I just don't think
he's, for lots of reasons, I don't think he's proved that yet. Sorry to cut you off because
we're repeating ourselves. Only in the sense of, look, like, no matter what, he's a divisive
character. No matter what, you, I set you up and you just start going again. It evokes something
in it. But there was this great thing which was like, and he said it, right? He said, I want to
get some haters back because all of my haters have become fans. And there was this great,
there's them comments I really like. It was the Ford versus Ferrari film where at the end,
I'm not going to complete my back. So I think, is it, who, is it Fassbender? No, who plays?
Yeah, this is Fassbender, isn't it? Who plays Carroll Shelby? No, who plays Carroll Shelby?

have seen that meme. And there was that funny thing with Maxis. We all sort of sat there
expecting a lot from him and how, and it was a bit of a like, you know, well done for putting
on a show. But I think Lando kept his cool. It was brilliant. It was amazing. Oscar,
yeah, lots to be read into and understood about what happened with his season and weather.
But we all expect if the car's there, he has the material for it. Yeah. No, I mean,
I was ecstatic. I think it's just a great F1 story and moment and who knows going into
next year. And there's so many question marks over what Formula One is going to look like next
year in the Pekka Moda. You know, that might have been Lando's moment and he grabbed it. And I think
that's awesome. And yeah, I just... And who cares if he only wins one? Oh my God, there's
position. I mean, Reagan and Barton. Do we all just knock them and say what? Exactly. It doesn't
matter. Mansell? Yeah, yeah. He's been there competing now for a number of years. Seven years?
Oh, yeah, yeah. But in terms of like being in the action, pole positions, podiums, like,
you know, race victories and stuff like that. So anyway, really good news story.
Really good. But yes, weird sky coverage. Yeah, very odd. Very, very odd and downplaying.
And sets us into, yes, this kind of next year that's just got so many question marks. You know,
Hamilton being very outspoken about Ferrari. That was fascinating. I thought he's really not holding
back, is he? In the last interview he done? Well, in the last few weeks, it's basically like,
I've tried guys, I've been trying my best this year to like implement changes and make this
team do what I do to change. So like, where do I go from here? If the changes don't happen,
what are we doing? Which I think is quite... For a Ferrari driver, he's quite outspoken and we saw
how they clapped back at him earlier in the year. Yeah. And he's had a lot of critics this year and
some of it is down to him and some of it's down to Ferrari, of course. And he says he doesn't
listen to watch comments or listen to the media and that, but he does, mate.
Oh, of course. Well, he gets asked the questions. Because he's bit back a couple of times.

yeah, it's hard to understand what Formula One is going to be next year.
And but I think we've got to think positive and assume that whilst we might have an
interestingly or slightly disappointing start to the year, they'll as ever get on top of all
these regulations. And it's weird. They've all basically come out now and said that they've all
hated driving that car. Yeah. And that man. Unreal, isn't it? You never really realised that this
year, but they all said it was a that was awful and horrible. Little Oscar in the cooldown room.
He's only been driving them three years. He's like, thank God, I've got to drive those again.
He's the most dominant time he's hated that car. Yeah. All hate driving those cars. Crazy,
isn't it? But when you look at the rules for next year and what the feedback is, I don't know.
I don't think they're going to enjoy driving those anymore. They're all going to be begging for the
25 cars back. When it rains, they're all going in the wall. You think so? Oh, mate. It's got
because they've got way too much talk. Yeah. They've got no bloody downforce like they had this
