"I don't know those seats looked brand-new, but it was still all original materials from back in the 80s. So that was very impressive. There was two nsx's one, and that red one was highly like modified quite a lot, but Drew quite a bit of attention for all, the, all the right reasons."
"My advice would be get caught. I was even thinking, you know, released was although 89, they released the NSX wasn't a 90 or a kind of 90 here. Yes, I have got a full-fledged for re being sports car, you know."
"...as named after. Okay, yeah, people thought it was Starion. Mispronounced, but English, but it's not start a..."

Does professional idiot. Drive.
Welcome to Car Talk. It is Tuesday night here at 98.9
Northwest airfare. It's me.
Mary J in online with the one and only Alum deep Singh.
The prodigal son has returned mr.
David Prince mr. Edward Bunting.
And mr. Scotty do, how are you
gentlemen? Good evening.
Harry will. Thank you and happy to be here.
Good to have you guys on board. Hell, we all traveling.
Let's get straight into the carburetor.
Got big show tonight. Big event to talk about Alan
will start with Now, where did I leave off last time?
So if she was running fine as it should, the battery did seem a bit or well, it started a bit slower than usual.
The other day, that being said, it is started getting very cold and Camera in the mornings. It's about 2 degrees.
So, and what does my second year on the battery?
Hopefully, it'll last the year, if not, I've got a nice little remote jumper pack ready to go and well, charged, the MX-5 battery was not Nicely charge when I returned to Melbourne on the Easter holiday I literally had to do that be today.
Don't know how to do it. Thankfully that the charger
ended up getting because my old battery charger was a full, a dumb style Charger where it doesn't really know what it's doing. It will just try and charge the
battery as it does. Whereas this new one I got,
which is on sale from my local soup, sheep was a like a smart Chargers like nine different stages.
I think there's like a d sulfonation stage or something in it. The kind of helps about it.
That might be a little extra crust even at this one's relatively new. So I ran that for about 24 hours
popped on the car. Yeah.
Start up like a dream as it should and ran it for that weekend. So I had pretty enjoyable time.
And yeah, that's, that's about all the car plates for me.
Nice, man, it would hello. I was just going to say I would
have expected Alum, a battery to last more than two years or at least last two years, in a new car?
Well, I don't Because I'm going just the hospital across the road. It doesn't end up getting
started every day. Sometimes it can end up going a
whole week. We're getting started.
So it's not getting that juicy juicy charge that.
You wouldn't normally expect a thank-you for a Fang after work.
God damn it. Get out there.
I'll wait till the federal gets a little bit cheaper.
Yeah well I doubt that one keeps me in contact with mean.
What can I tell you? I've been driving.
I've been it. You're driving my car's
intensive. One week at a time, almost
recently. So we spent the last week in the
MX-5 pretty much exclusively. It's been the only car I've had
at my house for about seven days.
I reckon and that's good. It sort of makes you get back in
and appreciate all the reasons why you bought these things in the first place. So, I've taken it hardtop on,
I've taken a hard top off, I've taken it soft top down, drove it to the Sakura picnic, which we'll talk about on Sunday and thoroughly enjoying the car. You know, it's it's good to have
something in Daily. We use for a bit.
I like it. What are the car updates by got
for you? Toyota, Ariane has had four new
tires foot, which they were the original tires even though it's done 35,000 K, you know, any any car.
That's 10 years old or 35,000 K, the ties are probably getting to the end of their tether Christine.
Yeah, bit Christian is a bit lumpy and a bit.
Yeah, not great feeling. So my mechanic makes message me
and said new four tires and I just messaged back and said they're in the boot. So you know, I've pre-prepared
Put them on. I think that's sort of it next,
mr. Prince Wu next.
Well, revolve it around secure a picnic, obviously, in a bit of preparation for that With a Little Help from My Friends, I managed to get two cars there. I got the in one and the
original n360, Scamp the 1970 model there.
So that's the one I've had or 30 years now, and the red one, the sort of inspired the newer ones, so it was nice.
To have them displayed side by side too.
So people could actually see the familial Heritage or lineage or whatever you want to call it. So that was good.
But yesterday I was, I also had got a chance to show.
Someone is expressed some interest in in in little cake, are zoldak, a car. So I actually showed them the
water-cooled Z that was at Sakura picnic.
The Honda Zed and the my little Honda scan panel van and got Drive them back to back for the first time, which was interesting. And seeing obviously the even
though they both sort of there are only two years apart, they're the sort of quite a decade of development apart.
To that the scamp's very 60s to drive, very, very basic.
Whereas the, the Z there are some significant sort of changes in the way it actually drives. So I've never actually driven
them back to back, literally, you know, like that before.
So, it was pretty interesting. I enjoyed That and of course,
they both started when I turned the key and just, you know, read beautifully. So that was a good day.
I've also made some plans to get the 77 Civic that I procured a while ago, back to the house, back to my house, to do some work on it. Because I figured there's more
of a chance work will get done on it there than sitting in a paddock ending lie. So, that's another job for later
this week, hopefully, Well, in the end 600 is going off to have the engine compartment detailed and cleaned properly to get some years of dirt and oil, very carefully removed from it.
So I didn't fetch package that prior to sale, David May well be yes. Yes.
Preparation for its preparation for checking out.
See what needs for roadworthy. Also gets it out of my garage
for a couple of days to if it's stored away in a nice shed, so Road, They would be no it would wouldn't it?
Yes yes watch this space. Something's fishy is going on
there between you and Bunting. I think a quick Google search of
n360 scamp in Google Images. Then if you're the third image
that pops up, what do you mean? The third tear Rangers?
What a mile in the third in a in a dr.com that I you articles the
game that was when I told hundred couple of years ago I said you do realize it's 50 years since the Scamp was I sent you. No no didn't know anything about
that said, right? All you need to do something
about it and they did they actually did a press release and I wanted one for a photo essay that does that happen.
That photo does have a habit of popping out what you do, Google on the skank. I mean, let's be honest.
You're a very famous man, mr. Princess, you're very well known
in the, in the, in the world of Automotive UND lunched, Scotty car updates with me on Saturday. I spent like pretty much the
whole Day cleaning. The Subaru, didn't do too much
inside because I had already done all that the previous week, so it was just all all the outside, trying to use that new mothers, clay bar that's not actual clay to actually go through and strip it back. Pretty good.
Got it done in absolutely no time way quicker than your normal Clays, that should be good.
I think lasts up to 50. You could do 50 vehicles with it
or something. I think it said on the front, so
it's pretty good. Quality juice out of it.
Yeah. Then I use my usual Maguire's
polish and wax in one and then I use the ceramic coat over the top. I did that on the headlights to.
So I polish the headlights even better this time because I had the proper drill bit, so I could do it instead of by hand, because you can't really do as well by hand.
So did that properly and you can use a ceramic coating over the top to seal it. So I give that to the only
Annoying Thing To Remember. To remember in case of people
haven't done ceramic coating, is it takes a lot of wiping to get rid of it, to take it off. So normal wax, you can easily
with buff it Off the Cuffs off, straight away.
But ceramic coat, just sticks, and you'll be sitting there for quite a bit to try and buff buff it off over the same spot.
Once it cues, it can be really hard to get off kind.
Of course that's the oh yeah. Yep yep.
Yep. Easy to use but yeah just be
mindful that That it's not going to buff off as easy as you normal waxes and polishes. That's what I have noticed and
do whatever you did paid off, because that car looked absolutely spectacular on Sunday.
Thank you very much, it looked at it looks so good.
Even brilliant. Only be fully buddy there.
Yeah it was the best one there. This one is absolutely.
And just this to match it I just got to get that rear spoiler done. And A little insert for the
Bonnet scoop to get that repainted, and it should be all good. Many men is made by these metal
do that. Yeah, we'll get to that in my
car updates, the gun. So Carlos with me, the forest.
I got a bit of love last week as you guys know now, but I promised my sister before I gave her the car that I'd get the hood scoop and the, and the Bonnet really Yeah, and the excuse me, the rear spoiler sort of because the Bonnet scoop and wanted actually started all the clear coat start appealing and the the spoiler was just the painted just been going after summer in Australia and Plastics in Australia.
They don't seem to convert a comes last so that got that got redone and they they managed it but they also did the grill while erratic. It's a real had a couple of
spots that were that were patching and they and they read they re black to the the mesh as well.
They also pose Headlights. And and yeah, just just had it a
few little things up and gave the car whole polish.
So it came up a million bucks, and I was really happy with how it was, how it came up. I mean, it's not, it's, it's a
kind of done 260,000 K, so it's not going to be perfect, but it actually looks really good for four.
It's four days now. So was really, really happy with
happy with how that, how that came up.
That's when you saw how well it came up.
Did you decide not to give it thee sister?
I do, I kind of apology is like, you know, I said.
So I said oh I kind of want to back now.
She's She's like no it's fine. So yeah.
So so so we pick that up on the Friday and she took that obviously to secure on Sunday which will get to very shortly.
Be all pretty much been dropping all my cars actually I'm yeah she the only car being driven in the last you know two or three weeks has been the typhoon. Like I've driven I've been
pretty much daily. The Mercedes and LTD like
alternating days and that and driving the MR2.
So there. Yeah, they've all been able been
going pretty well, I haven't really had it any Significant issues. So, happy with that, the sunroof
in the, in the, in the Merc seems to run a little bit and I'm constantly hitting hitting the ceiling to try.
Make it stop and it stops or about 10K.
And it comes back again. But apart from that, it's a,
it's still going. Okay, so that is pretty much it
on my end gentlemen. Well, show you tonight
discussion points chance, which is of secure.
A picnic the big event that happens once a year, run by the Toyota car code of Australia. They do a great job, really good
events like this and you know where everybody's happy is, such a cool event and your hats off to them, you know, ideas my lid to the to the, to the people that run it every year and and I do David knows a lot of people there that run it and stuff.
And yeah, it was, it was a again, typically real well run event. He did, it was so, yeah.
So really happy with with the day.
But gentleman will get into into what we, what happened on the day and and will basically go go.
From this is Scotty was out of us was the first one to arrive there. Yeah, I'll do the first one.
I got Prime position. You were all sent to the back.
Can we were we will leave at least into the back.
I was driving in and then I was told to park and I'm almost part of of like that. I don't like a bit of a U-turn
in reverse and the guys like not go to the back.
So so I was obviously moved to the back and my sister followed and then day. David and Ed.
And the other humans from the from the good old, Honda car club followed followed suit and but then that area fill up real big but it was a massive event was over 500 cars day it was it was a huge day so guys thoughts on the event so far and and basically how do you think the day ran and your favorite cars of the of the event will start with start with those topics.
First shall I go first Matthew? You can go first it would I'm
usually impatient, why not? No no aah.
I thought it was a very good day and by, and large, I didn't stop talking the entire time because it's a hard person to find it.
Well, it doesn't. If I know it's very met and
Scott and I started all, let's have a look around a lovely intention. And we started walking for
about, I don't know, 12 meters and then someone goes oh it you know, Aurora and then you start yakking and then Scott and Matt and keep wondering while I'm yakking and then I walk another 20 meters are hired and which is fine.
It's lovely but Literally got got way through the day that I haven't looked at anything. So, it's a bit of a, did a bit
of a scatter around and I'm, you know, you sort of bump into someone else. And I had a bit of a look around
with David and Michael our friend.
And so, I did eventually get to see everything but yet takes time. And then I was talking to a guy
with a Subaru touring wagon, that he was quite embarrassed.
He's never been to one before. He's only soubise before we've
never been to this and he said, I was a bit embarrassed driving.
I thought people aren't going to really want to see my old Subaru wagon, but it was a really clean like mid 80s during way.
And you don't see them like that, you know, they're all students. If he cars and they've all got
violin and Island stickers on the back window and rusted out.
I do they literally do not that there's anything wrong with that but they did appeal to certain crowd of utilitarian users.
So he was really amazed because I said, oh yeah, this is senior third. And I said on that's not the
Enduro Edition and we talked about talked about all things Subaru for a good 20 minutes, half an hour, Repented and he was just surprised that anyone was taking such an interest in any case I really really didn't really didn't know whether to bring it or not sort of thing. So I hope that that cemented in
his mind that it is a worthy vehicle, favorite car the day, it's so hard. You can't you can't kind of sit
here and hone out one but one that sticks in my mind over and above some others was there was a Datsun. 240Z manual Cooper a
hmm. Which had a red interior that
was really nicely preserved. / restored, I don't think the
whole car had been restored but it's certainly the right parts had been restored and you really could have faulted.
It had the factory hub caps, which are not a not an easy hubcap to get, right? You know, they protrude quite a
bit in there, a bit intricate and their paint color.
And anyway, I just walked around that.
Thought that car is absolutely right.
There was nothing on it and I'm a picky bastard when it comes to walking. We on the first to walk around
my own car and go that's that's blemishes there.
That's that that's that you know like you will know our own cars in The Faults they have but walking around that really I was quite taken aback by how good it was.
It was stunning, wasn't it? Yeah yeah and there were plenty
of other things too. Like no question.
Our there's the the Magna we met the guy who's got the magnet Elite wagon, he two-tone Graham, ignorantly wagon.
Who happens also to be the same guy that David has met him as well. Who owns a beige.
That GLX wagon who took it to high ball.
The The Cars and Coffee event, you know, some months back.
So I love the fact that he owns two Magnum wagons, one base model and one Top Model is great to talk to you because he's just into that ordinary staff and preserving cars, that kind of no one else might bother with. But but we certainly love it or,
you know, everyone in this page certainly goes.
Absolutely, that's cool. So that was good and he's got a
camera wagon as well, I think. David, you mean you don't us?
Yes, yes. Some things about 91.
So, anyways, this week 2121, how good that he's got three old school, Mom and Dad wagons from the late 80s, it's pretty cool.
He was great. Great guy to talk to his name's
Andrew. And I took great Delight in
telling him that after he bought the beige one to Hive.
All I was talking to a certain purveyor of very expensive.
Italian cars, the following, Afterwards, who was lamenting the fact that he think he took an 81 to Superfast to that that high ball. And he was somewhat perturbed
that a lot of people walk past the Superfast to take a photo and the magnet is making a wagon.
He singled that car out as so told Andrew that be busy people, that was great. So I was very close to be able
to pass that story on the benefits, but it's really just about some cars. Even As Porsches Ferraris, well,
there's a lot of them, you know, a lot of survived because they were very expensive, they're always expensive, whereas they are not a lot of Magna wagon, still surviving and you just, that's right. Just don't see them in its that
Nostalgia that when you do see when you go, whoa, you know, it's relatable, I think there's so relatable to to dead demographic of people, you know, the rat those shows now, you know, so many of them had one, as part of their car story short, it can I say that? Yeah, absolutely.
And it's um, and that event is by and large in the whole Japanese movement is by and large, a slightly younger crowd.
And so, some of these cars are here, cars.
Your mum had, you know, it's simple as that soon, but I relate to that a lot more better because, like, every time I like, I see an x f Fairmont not a gear because we can never afford to give it, but the extra Fairmont reminds you.
Yeah. Reminds me of the car.
I went to school in and if I see, you know, an old Gemini in comic Green, that's, you know, the well we call our Gemini can wear green eyes? I just, I just saw a freak out
because oh my God, Jim and I, you know, and like you could drive past me in like a hurricane or sorry.
I just, I wouldn't bat an eye but something like that.
I'm like, oh yeah, you know, that's it makes you sound.
Like, it makes me sound like such a crappy car fan, but that's kind of, I guess, kind of what what we relate to really, you know, if I see if I see like, I mean, we were there that day on a highball saying that seeing that that beige magnet and we all will take him back by God.
It's so cool, you know. How often how often do people
say that about a beige? Magna wagon.
Exactly. It's a lot of beige.
They're very slabby. Those magnetic.
I've told this story maybe before but a Japanese classic Japan. A few years back.
I had the Honda City. My Honda City with my friends,
motor Campo in the boot and you know, I had a boot open so everyone could see it and literally everyone walk past.
It going video video photo photo photo.
There wasn't one person that didn't sort of stop and admire that and my friend was standing next to me and he's got a Ferrari, a concourse When he Ferrari and he he after about 10 minutes, we were just chatting and he said, my God, your cars getting so much attention it. What's going on?
You know, I said some with the people of the world, to know anyone, the city here and it's got the motor Campo in the boot, which you don't see that often and he goes, oh my God, that's getting more attention than my card.
I said, well, to be honest, your red with beige Ferrari 328, GDs and will be common. You know, I don't go to an
Italian car so you probably see eight of them there, it all.
That color schemes and I we, you know, yeah a little bit, the rebound of the meal. For me, it's just funny.
How we can relate to every we can relate to those cars and and I mean we'll get to what we're talking about in the pot on the, on the chat earlier. Scotty about about when you
mention in regards to, you know, cars that you love but use a little bit more about these days but we'll get to that in a little bit. But yeah, obviously, yeah, I was
always taken back by by, you know, by the car that, you know, your mom had your dad had, you know, your uncle had You know, if I see a clean 95 XL, I was like oh you know in that green that dark metallic green I reminisce and I'm like oh that's kind of cool. You know if I see a clean one so
it you do get extra back to the Styles P plates and ship boxes and handbrakes. Absolutely.
Absolutely. And it's in my catchphrase
sometimes, you know, he's crazy. Yeah.
So what did you think what did I actually bother stopping and staring? The next two and really looking
at there was some all these have it was a very nice speaking of ordinary cars. Measures 23, 23 sedan, I have
seen it before but it's the top-of-the-line Super Deluxe.
I think yes, Factory Crews, Factory power windows Factory roof rear wiper in a sedan for it, Mazda 323 back in 1986 ish.
Whenever that was new, it was you couldn't go any higher, like, whoever bought that ticket.
Dear Reeboks so that cars, really nice and clean.
God, what else was there? Oh, there's a lovely white to
Rago owned by our friends from the Toyota Club.
They use it for all the events to Chuck everything in, and I walked around the corner. And I went all this try, go just
like mine and I thought, I haven't seen that one before and then I went hang on. It's sort of looks like it's
their one which was blue, but now it's white.
So and then I remembered that it actually run me a few months ago and said, oh, what's the color coded?
Your white tamago because I'm going to paint hours White and I'd forgotten that conversation till I saw it.
So it is actually the exact same color as mine because you got the color code off me. Yeah, I'm seeing waiting car
business. Yeah, we could do Jewel wipe to
rogo wedding and he's got the blue, velour interior as well.
Yeah lutely. So thank you for looking for a
very particular demographic with Tara grows as because I don't know. What that demographic is exactly
have a logical because it's a solid chance that they'll also be the trucker's have gone through Casey drive through during the first session. So, of course, there's nothing
wrong with that. It's a logical progression from
Combi love which is a mate of mine.
Got married fifteen, twelve years ago and they had Combi love which is to flip a blue calm bay window copies.
Wow, that they ran out as went cars.
I know all about those. Eventually.
Oh yes. You to anyone that wants to get
married with two. What two Rogue has.
Just let me know you go. I'll tell you it up.
To rug has arrows. Tacos are us here, you find you
find the the hotel. We've got the Rago, you know,
I've got the hotel hotel to, right?
They can spend the wedding night in the turaga.
I couldn't think of anything more romantic for the first artists as a wife or husband and wife.
I quite like that. Okay, well, we might have to our
make it non original by putting some curtains in a dead bird.
Now, you know what, I all, he's a little cat talk thing I the other day, I I think it just came up automatically on one of my feeds or something, but it's these Snappy and shades and you see them with some manufacturers for dealer fit accessory, you know, they snap in on the inside of the window, but you can still put the window up and down. So it's like a yeah, it's sort
of like having tent but not, To put a film on it, you know, you know, those socks that people put on for their kid in the back and you fit it over the rear door and it's all a bit ugly, and messy, and flex around. These things are, like, on the
inside. And, yeah, they look, they're
measured exactly for the window of certain makes models.
And they can do custom ones as well.
And I did think if I was able to sleep in the turo, go on a more permanent basis, like I become homeless or something, I would get those snapping with the money I'm saving or not paying for A home. I would get those napping Shades
all round the back and the sides which really blacks it out and makes it makes it quite livable inside.
You know, you're not woken up on the morning sun then you just need a little curtain above between the front seats.
You know, you put a lot of thought into this said, well I have yeah, very cool mr. Pence.
Oh couples. Do that for me?
One of them. Certainly the T, TP magnarelli
wagon. Another cow.
That was very nice. As it was a yellow T-top.
Listen, EXA, it's either with the with the optional wagon back on it. There's a name for it.
Let the nice slip my mind now. But it sort of turns the Buddha,
the exit into a like a little mini panel van and it was lowered on some hiyashi racing Alloys looked very very fine.
Nice nice, little car. One of our members also has a
Hepworth is actually got two of the original Honda Insight switch were the first hybrid sold in Australia.
People often confuse them for Citroën and they're not perfect, but a number of people want, a lot of people came up and to that car on the day. They'd never seen one before we
know never. And and that cars over that's
cars. 20 years old now too. So I mean, you know, you'd think
their he's actually replaced. Both the hybrid batteries in
both of these cars in the last couple of years, so that's been expensive. Bees for him but one of them's
in a color called Citrus yellow which was absolutely looks like it's radioactive. Anyway so that's certainly stood
out. The other thing I really liked.
Oh there was only one Figaro which was unusual.
I thought there would be more Figaro's but there's also one solitary little Daihatsu midget which is one of those funny little trucks. The massive teddy bear with a
massive, tiny bit strapped to the back you at least he was, you know, Strapped in properly, like a some sort of gigantic baby handless thing, but that was pretty cool.
I mean, if you wanted to if you ever thought cake as work you well that's probably the cutest KK you'll ever see with a with that itty-bitty strapped in the back.
But I think it's just the the huge variety of stuff that's there and it's sort of blurs in a way to you know you walk around and you walk past Skyline after Scarlett after Skyline after you know, Eric snark. 7M. A lot of them X5 has, but as it
said, most of them are customized.
I mean, yours was the only original one there.
That's funny. Yeah.
I don't know what that stands for if anyone gives this gives a crap, but yeah, when you walk around and you see any mx-5s, and you just go, every single one of them has had something done to it because they lend themselves to that.
They're very good when you tweak them in customers so customizable and they're good on a track and everything, but it really is rare to see See, a bog standard car.
You know they've all got roll bars or a steering wheel or the wrong stereo or different Wheels lowered, bloody bloody blah.
And I just think wow my mind might really stands out because it literally had nothing done to it.
Yeah. Anyway, I drove into actually
Mercedes-Benz on Monday, lunchtime to pick up some parts, a little Ariel grommet for my 190 Diesel and so I drove in there and the guy, the concierge guy came running out.
He goes Amiata Miyata. Nothing caught you.
Yeah. And I was like, yeah.
And he said, I had my green one secure yesterday and I said, I just wanted to Curry yesterday and we had a little MX-5 chat.
But yeah, I didn't expect to see that parking at Mercedes necessarily. The other thing that struck me
actually, which was the last thing I thought I would have liked was a current model RAV4 in Black owned by someone in the Toyota car club. It's a pretend Instagram Pages,
which is Ripley the Rev, but oh, they've gone full out with the.
It's some sort of safari pack, look to it.
It's got a Got a ladder up the back back door back tailgate it's got a sort of industrial strength roof rack.
It's got really cool sort of blackout panel panels that are like a drill plastic panel with RAV4 emblazoned on the little window in the D. Pillar had a set of black almost
like steelies, but they were actually Alloys.
But the thing was all black and look like you could do any sort of zombie apocalypse in a hybrid as well.
You know, how very responsible for Dinah, actually, it's not a hybrid. I tell a lie, but maybe maybe it
should have been, but I'm not a huge fan of the comparator ABS, but this thing looked really tough with its black wheels.
And I think it's all about the offset.
The wheels were obviously, bit wider than standard.
Hmm, and they feel that the guards up much, much better.
So it didn't look quite as sort of gangly, as the current won't ride your brabzzz. Do have you driven one of the
camera traps? David, I haven't no they're
actually really good to drive like I did he say that we go and yeah I wouldn't mind having a go.
It impressed me as well. Okay.
I only spent about probably 20 minutes each way and one but yeah, it was better than I thought to drive.
Okay. Yeah much better than than than
I was. Yeah, I was expecting it to be.
You listen was decked out with a rhino racket head.
The side steps and everything, and the black paint work, but all the sort of matte black panels will Arch extensions, and stuff like that. And it actually looks really
tough for it, so that that impressed me to last question is, did it have 200 kilowatts keeps it looking at the current specs for the RAV4? Snow, I don't have 200 kilowatts
speaking of like, you Jacked up 10.
Did you see the the Jimny? That was there as well.
That was in our car park. Yes.
That was pretty. It was pretty cool.
That was pretty tough. Few mods done to it.
It was a pretty tough looking Jimmy.
If you ask me, I liked it. Yeah, I thought it was done
really, really well. I liked it too so it was I must
say a lot to look at three different cars but a lot of them did blend in. After being a kind of forgot,
I'll just flicking through some of the photos to jog, my memory because I just I didn't really take many photos myself and I think I took like maybe three or four.
Usually, I'd take more but I just got a little bit carried away and checking out every oh well, He's going to call you out on that Scotty because you had promised some photos but you didn't deliver on a photo you did deliver on a photo of a from of the squad which you know, and there was a lovely and very interesting and 360 wasn't there that Maddie was driving.
So I'll allow it. Yeah.
But that was like that was a really cool time but we'll get to that in a bit. Yeah, I so cards that I really
liked there is one standout that I think.
Me and many agree with that, we both really liked, but before I jump to that one, I think some of the others that I just saw kicking around, there was a store, a couple, Evo threes.
There's a black one. Parked off to the side was a
really nice white EVO 3. It was lovely.
Yeah, it was in very good condition that on so that was fantastic. Another mention to the the old
80s aura, that was there. Earlier, because I was opening
your cars over there, hero Kevin.
Yeah. Yeah, that looks fantastic.
That was in really good condition.
Another one to the, there was a silver r31, it was the JDM Edition 1. So the Japanese Market one that
was done really well, that was very clean.
The wheels fitted perfectly the paint job that had done was fantastic. The interior was absolutely
spotless. Master.
I don't know those seats looked brand-new, but it was still all original materials from back in the 80s.
So that was very impressive. There was two nsx's one, and
that red one was highly like modified quite a lot, but Drew quite a bit of attention for all, the, all the right reasons.
So it should because I mean you don't really see.
NSX is around at all. I mean, I can't even tell you.
The last time, I might have even saw one in person.
And yeah, so that was fantastic to see the ground.
Yeah, I noticed a lot of stages they were everywhere.
Yeah. They were.
They got around and not that many skylines.
Not as many as I thought, then be a couple 33s around couple 32s, maybe 3 or 4 32 gdrs, only 133, gdr and 234 gr.
So the dropping off, not as many as I thought.
I really would have. Thought there'd be a lot more
like because Ed's an eight-six has but I don't know, they must have been somewhere else so there wasn't very many of them around. The reason why the the Julio's
weren't coming hours because they're in the insurance on them is to too expensive these days. Yeah.
They're all short for $580. Yeah, more expensive than the 35
and Julie are now makes this that's say they weren't weren't around. It was cool to see those Honda
insights. Yes first-gen.
Once a Workhorse and to see was it?
The the green color one, and the red one.
Yep. So interesting.
Just stands out so much so so different unique can't go wrong with to 60s. There was, I think any of them
were like they were all done really, really well.
They look very, very clean and that brings me to the one that stood out quite a lot, which was a nice And I'd a person that's in sunny or a, when 21, why is it called?
Yeah, that was the most cleanest and Tastefully modified car that I that I'd seen it just stood out, had a SR20 in it.
Individual throttle bodies, just everything in the engine bay was incredibly tidy. And then having a look in the
interior, the front seats were done, really.
Be nice to match the rears and they got some very nice gauges to go in there and just you know, so they can monitor it properly than the old-fashioned, engages that it came with.
So it look really really good. And then their vents were done
like little little throttle bodies for the vents seems like that. It was fantastic.
It was a really nice example. It was the little things on that
car that all added up to bit being, absolutely stunning.
Like it was, it was it was perfect if you ask me like You to do one of those with an SI. It was a little bit of.
It wasn't just the fact that I had the SR in the engine bay was super clean. It was it was had a legit
modification played on the car as well.
The as you said, the vents were done by like they were actual throttle. Bodies throttle body flaps that
were. And if you didn't know what
you're looking at you wouldn't tell.
But but for those in the know that had a look and said, wow, so seeing those little things it was stunning.
I come I took my head off to that guy like that is a Clean clean car. Yeah.
It was a car that you would keep going back and look when you look more closely you find all the little details as opposed to just walking paths going. All, that's a nice car.
Yeah, it's just done that. You had to get up really close
and you just find how detailed it actually was Yeah, it was super only makes downtown. Yeah I was I couldn't believe
how clean it was and how nice it was.
And I said yeah this for me would there was dead.
I mean, that was my car of the event.
To be honest with you. Like in terms of like most
Tastefully modify, it was just the best done car.
Even the pain was Flawless like it was, it was perfect.
Yeah, couldn't agree more. We would have been good if I can
get out into the actual car park as I would have been good because I could see just some of them just parked out.
There would have been interesting to check out too but there was So much to look at inside.
You just kind of stuff to run out of time.
Here I'd love to have talked to the owner of that well I couldn't 120 wise because our the 120y was not a, not a loved car back in the day. Even really, I mean they were
very reliable, very durable, but they were very slow and though not known for their handling or anything, but being bought by people who wanted a car basically.
But yeah, there's got to be a reason somewhere that he wanted.
That one. One and love that one.
You know, before wasn't it. Let's hear this story.
There wasn't even like a tools afford or, you know, it was.
Yeah. It was suspension and I'm like
this person. Just one of this kind did it
right, you know. And I.
Yeah, well done. It was awesome.
And a quick shout out to the nest and Stage it with the Baris. What ya did see that?
Yeah, modulated as well as done all properly and above the law.
Thing would be an absolute Weapon.
It's a Spring Anthony. I think it's like was and he was
there as well. And he's like, how do you make
it real? How do you make a stadium or
reliable? Put a bereavement.
And so, I decided to set the laughs it would he said that?
But yeah, it was, it was a really, I mean, the rest of the car looked like it had like a real candle will place you to paint job. But in general like the car was
pretty good. Like and and the engine bay
looked really neat and it looked like it was, it looked like that thing would absolutely hammer. Yeah, I think that's about it
from me for now. Unless I come across something
else that I forgot. For me, there was a few.
I'll start with the more modern ish ish.
I'll say modern issues these things because because obviously, Scotty has discussed the, the 120y.
But, did you guys see that a really original White Lightning?
Silica. It was beautiful like had the
white Wheels, the full, you know the original decals on the on the side of the car we were together two litre, twin cam 16 and It was really nice, like you.
And I'd been years since I've seen a really nice one of those.
I haven't seen a good one since my friend had one, which got T-boned and he ended up re showing, but it was, it was so nice to see one that was just, that was kept because of, you know, they were still a good-looking little car, like a really hot looking car, those and pop-ups, and everything is just really cool to see it to see a nice one.
The, in 14 Triple-S, Pulsar in that like that little that Kind of grainy like tee leemah, Grant tell him a green, Chilli green color, that car was awesome. That was in really good.
Nick had had like, protectors had, you know, as far as I full reg to had the factory frogs in it, it just are just look good.
And it was look like it was well looked after I don't know if that was original paint because the pain was pretty damn good enough but it was. Yeah, that was a, that was a
real standard. I think it just for an original
triplets Pulsar. It looked it looked really I
think was on the in 15 Wheels Triple-S Wheels, but but regardless, it was still a very, very nice car.
I did I did like that one did so this c 1 t x 3, Turbo there and I was like, oh it takes, we do. It was a nice mess do as
familiar. They're very clean.
Original on the guy and had in 20 years.
All right. Yeah, yeah Drive.
Yes. That the white one.
Yeah. Yeah I did say that that was on
my list as well. That that car was really really
nice. I he was there last year as
well. Well, I'm sorry.
Two years, two years but two years ago when the last ones on the end. Yeah.
That was a really nice car. I did really like that one.
I thought that one was really, really nice.
Another one, getting back to a sleeker again was the was the GT for the but the group a, the one in red had the original wheels, that was a really nice car like just super original and I Scotty likes of GT4 but this one was really, really nice.
So I was, I was really impressed with with that one.
Sure. My students, he brought his hero
diesel acre along which, you know, it's just a light bunnies SX. Something's in 98, Essex illegal
but it was a really clean clean car and many and he was, you know, he was only one of those an Essex are that was there?
So like the highest spec one than he is.
But yeah, I was like, well, as you said, Scott again the best one there because it was the only one there.
So how was good? It's good to see that in person
but one car they got to me and I know you guys were talking about earlier before about Like the Magna and stuff that like the cars are really bring you back. Was seeing that that Hilux Surf
and I like as a kid I remember going in one of those with with family friend who bought one virtually like a year old or something like it was a really nice car and always move the the Senate makers was a diesel and it dis one was really nice.
How'd, you know, how'd the Toyota, the Toyota nudge bar on it and and it was the same color as that.
There's a lot I can remember so you can tell it was a it was a really cool car, so did really, really like that one.
I thought that was really, really cool.
So they were my standouts from from the event.
I would have also liked to have seen like a Back to the Future Hilux at some point but I because I haven't seen one in.
I've seen them for sale, come up, occasionally in Australia, but I haven't seen one that's been at an event because I think that would get a lot of love being being one of those.
Everyone talks about the DeLorean from that movie, but I'm all about the Hilux. It was just shows how sick I am
next. We need to go to.
Well there's high ball coming up again your 22nd.
Normal one went out May 22nd. Yep.
And before that on the 15th is Auto classica in mailing Road.
In Canterbury, that's been put off from February.
I think that was put off from, okay, that'll be.
That'll be fun. We should definitely putting it
in. Excellent cars and canines
Maddie? Yes, yes.
Well, it's the patent. The patent is pending on that.
We are creating a new event, cool cars.
And canines obviously, I brought Thomas, my golden retriever, who is the cattle, dog? I believe, I think he's a, he's
a, he's a, he's a, he's a bit of a nut job but he's only a puppy still, but he got more attention and a lot of the car.
Azhar I can. What do you think?
So nothing really is. There's so many people coming
straight up to him. Yeah, it's not good,
magnificent. During the cars, single, that
would be the ultimate pick up to like people are just coming out of everywhere. Just
We're going to set the event called cars and canine so you can bring your cars and bring your canines and then you have a good time. So that'll be, that'll be an
event that we should. We should have.
We should invent guys. They would print the Honda car
club, presents cars and canines. I think that'll be there wasn't
actually actually in Japan a few years ago, specifically for dog owners. So it was fitted out with a
little with a yellow rubber Met in the back and had a ramp coming out for the smaller dogs, to get up and down and you know, since you said you'd images later, but that would be differently good on what they thought of it at 30 thought of it before you. So contacting one of our club
members had he's 81 degrees active an there, which is very, very original White Band with twin sliding doors in the high roof. It's a really cool little car.
I had to sit in it. And I'd recently along with mr.
Prince had the opportunity to drive a 1986 act d-unit, which was fantastic in terms of its condition.
But very uncomfortable to drive because your backrest is the cabin, like you can't Slide the seat.
You can't recline the seat. The seat is the sea.
There's no adjustment at all. And so that car was quite
restrictive to drive, but albeit in lovely.
Condition, you jump in this active van and I was asking Michael the owner and he said, oh yeah, you can slide the seat back and you can recline it. And I was like, ah, now this is
everything in active, should be. I said, I could drive this no
drama but the, you could have been a little bit of a trial on anything at more than a short Journey.
Did they sell them young? David.
They certainly they sold act. He's from 80 81 through to about
84. Okay.
Here, before that they'd sold I took the little Vans and them and the sort of T 360 Vans and Utes.
Well, they didn't officially sell actor Utes in Australia after 1980 in that second second, and probably for that reason because they figured that most Aussie guys will girls probably wouldn't be comfortable in the because you can't recline the seat or slide it back far enough.
But yeah, they certainly sold a few Act is here.
The other interesting thing that you had everyone was a beeper that when you go above 80 km, He reads that you basically to say the vehicle is not designed to go.
This far, I of course did 100 in it and it was going beep, beep beep. I like a bloody microwave.
Yeah, as a nice little reminder, please do not drive me this far, you left a of reheated up now look overall.
I think was a really really good Advanced.
As I said, there's some really, really cool cars there.
A couple other Honorable mentions that 33 GTR.
That was able was the only one that was there was was very, very nice. It was, I had a bit of a look at
a time when I was walking out did really like it.
A certain Liberty be for was quite nice as well as the blue one wasn't it? I think was Buu.
Yeah it was actually but I got no I got ya.
Anyone with the name Scott I think is a bit of a snitch but a great. But towards the end of the end
of the show and people when people are heading out, obviously my sister brought her car to the event as well, which is, which was, you know, the forest iron and Thomas were sitting in the back of that. Like saying, well, why don't you
let me ask for a bit? Because after he didn't win the
place apart, I had a little bit of a drive, in a little car owned by someone on this podcast, mr.
Mr. Prince, it was awesome. I couldn't get the smile off my
face driving. I've got video footage to prove
that I'll clean it. It was it was so nice to drive
like it just it just cruised along the paddock and it was just like a, just bumping along. I was, it was, it was totally
fine. And yeah, I can see why you've
got such a, such an affinity to it and love it, and love it so much because it just it just makes you smile.
Like it's one of those. One of those cars that you can
just hop in and it just like you can't help but smile, you know, it's it's a, it's a weird. It's a weird Sensation that that
occur that like that. Does that for you.
It's you you could. Could invest in something like a
Scamp for your collection, actually wouldn't mind.
But the issue is, I've got to get a place to put it first because I will take up much space.
This is true. I can attest that.
I think that's part of its their charm actually because they are almost toy. Like really.
Yeah, you know, compared to anything else, your partner next to the other, the dimensions are fairly minuscule by reasonable standards. It's basically like a motorbike
a big motorbike basically, we have oils and doors on the roof.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
That you put a smile on your face, that's for sure.
It's very hard to drive that car and have a bad day.
No, I can totally see why. And and and the little engine
note, the little from you know, that that was making.
And you know, and the fact the fact that that it's missing a radiator makes it all the more fun because, you know, it's all It's just a really cool experience and yeah, I was very thankful for you from mr. Principal for, let me draw a
number of a tidbit. It's got a Ferrari part in the
car which are, which I didn't know until you pointed out that the stereo was out of a Ferrari but really cool.
Mr. Prince really cool guy. Yeah.
Love the little Scamp. I think it's such a cool little
car. Yeah, I would making day three
of us on this panel could own scams.
Oops. We should call it a car Scamp
talk and it'll be fun for about five minutes.
What did you do with your skip today?
You know, just drove it know. What did you do?
Yeah, it's Joe. That is that was really cool.
Just to see like the n 1 and that park next to each other and I don't think I can I think they look that similar to each other in photos. When you see in the next to each
other, they're quite big in like what the end ones massive in comparison and in the end was a tiny car.
Yes. And it just shows how far we've
come a long, you know, like we've talked about this on the show like how cars have gotten bigger and fatter and taller and stuff. And yeah, this Camp is no
exception like, you know. Okay, cars in general noise, the
exception of they've been, they've been hit by the safety bug. I think it's been called, I
think so. Yes.
The visibility and it's great. And I was just it was such a
cool thing. I write I talked to her about it
and she's like, are you got the drop on me?
Yeah, it was so cool. Yeah, I could have stopped
talking about. I thought it was.
I thought it's a real real, real cool.
A cool experience. I really think you need
something. If not a scam, something like
that in your collection because you know, your other cars are a lot newer and more accomplished and you know really that something that classic like that.
Could be good for you Matthew. Absolutely.
I think. Quirky, it's comical.
Yeah. What it's not.
Was comical. He was more that he was just, it
was just so like I found it. So cool.
Like I found it really, really cool and I won, you know, making them don't have to be scared. But something of that.
Ilk you should think about because like what?
I drove like you know, 60s Mustang before and and and you know, like older cars from the sixties and seventies they've got a different charm because I got I feel from like, cars from the 80s, this still very modern, like they've got modern amenities. Like I mean, the MR2 is got like
electric windows and and And powerstar sunup I was doing but I was called air conditioning and all the things that you kind of need and yeah it's an old carts, 34 years old but but it's like 10 years before that or even 15 years before that, you know, cars were were very different, you know?
And and I got the sense that that same sensation all be a different from the Mustang where I can get a smile on my face because it was such a you know, like a real like it's felt like you're stepping back in time and while I still get that feeling in the MR2 because of the genus, what I felt in the In this Camp was just like I'm like this is this was like a real visceral experience, but it was also a smelly experience because you could you can smell because smell the, you could smell the fuel. I love it.
I love cars with with carbs and I think, I think I definitely need to learn something from from that ilk.
I think, I think that'll be on my list of cars to it again.
How far back in time you want to go to the ATM back in time or 60. 70. S back into.
I think 67 is is probably going to be my next You know, interesting car purchase. I think the waiting I think
that's like I was, I really want you guys, you guys, you guys know, but I think I've got kind of like that 80's wedge in the MR2, and I think I need, I need something.
That'll just, you know, kind of just just be that little bit step backwards. But, but the thing is, I don't
want a really clean, like, you know, showroom example, I want something like yours David, that's, that's really nice.
And it dried a good driver and, and something that that works in terms of the key. And you want to fight it, you're
not afraid to take it out because, you know, it works and I'm rather something like that then like the most pristine example of of anything I could find.
So obviously don't want a complete complete roster but it got me looking at like, you know, first gen Civics and and things again as I was like I could I could I could see myself in something like that because you know, I do like a fake ID like a see because you guys know, but I think it has to be Honda because I am part of a hundred, a hundred club.
And I'm not, I don't own a Honda.
So I think, either sit or lie with me.
Me. Yeah.
Work on that little pony. Yes, sounds.
It's such an interested just the one last thing I'll say about before everyone falls asleep, but it's really interesting to me that this camps to the 1970 model.
And in 1990, they release the NSX.
So, yes, been 20 years, they've gone from that that was their model lineup basically scamp's and and and life Sands and stuff to something like the NSX in 20 years.
That's a lot of development going into the motor car, been in 20 years of life. So, absolutely.
I mean, you look at that. Now, for example, like we look
back 20 years ago, that was 2002.
He had we had the end of the NSX run and now we've got electric cars, you know, it just feels it, just feels like Tommy, 20 years in terms of Car Talk, pardon the pun is just its immense. Like the difference in cars is a
man's like, Like Alum with your with your STI, compared to your old GD. W RX.
I mean that's what 16 years. 17 years difference.
And the difference is huge, like the technology and I mean the, the fundamentals of the same, but like, everything else is just insanely different. I definitely like the, the what
you call the Creature Comforts. Those those are so far Advanced
and yeah, kind of taken for granted when you get in the car.
That's a bit older. You're like, oh, I have to do
this myself, you know? But that's also Again, part of
the charm of the Old stuff as well.
Yeah, absolutely. And I look I totally localized.
I think our 20 year old car. I still think of costume in the
80s but then you're really, really perfect.
They're like 30 something years old.
Now you know, it's it just doesn't, it doesn't feel right.
You know. Like that was like I like my
lasers 21 year old now I might just it feels weird when I win.
I remember that car coming out like, you know, I remember I remember the ad for it, you know, it was it was a, it's just it just feels real. But how far we've come in terms
in terms of, in terms of cutting line.
So it's interesting that you say that they were like, you know, like and so your Scamp, the red ones are 1977.
Yeah. And then 20 years later, they
released was although 89, they released the NSX wasn't a 90 or a kind of 90 here. Yes, I have got a full-fledged
for re being sports car, you know.
And it's and it's yeah, it makes you kind of kind of realize how quick times of change. But also, if you look at like,
for example, like any company or from that are like from thing of 31, Scala, 232 sky and like the boxiness and of the 31 Skyline to The round and sleekness of over 32, like that was just one generation apart. You know, it's really cool.
How cars kind of cast, kind of, kind of, develop from there.
So Scotty, we'll finish our little Sakura topic on what you were mentioning earlier in the chat.
Yeah, so, I was mentioning thing was just yesterday about cars that not that there's anything wrong with them and you still like them but just didn't really Ali draw you in.
So mine was looking at so you know there's quite a few 32 GTRs and I'm still a huge fan. Yeah I might have had a quick
look at them from From a distance and things but I didn't really go up to it to look inside at that much because I pretty much knew what they already look like.
You're not sure if it's because I already own one or but it just didn't didn't draw me in. They just looks like, you know,
every other 32 gdr I've seen in the past and on the road.
Yeah, maybe some different rims, and things like that, and by all means, they were very clean. The ones that were there, don't
get me wrong, you know, as a 32G as people brought along with it with Testing. Now, great to see going to hear
everything like that, but just wasn't pulling me in compared to everything else. That was there, you know, just
so many other options. So many other cars to look at.
It was A sensory overload. Do you think that was because of
the amount of cars that were there?
Or do you think if you were to see a 3032 gdr in the street, like walk out your front door and you see one of these on there, you'd be like aww so du/dr.
Do you think it was? It was that kind of reason.
Why would you think that? You just like well just because
of you know I've had one I've done.
I've been there, I've done that, you know.
Yeah, they're cool but I'm more kind of moving on.
Like my tastes have changed. What look what do you think is
the thing with that? I don't think my taste.
It has changed because I'd still, you know, be more than happy to to own one again. I think it was just the amount
of options that was there. You know, I've seen, it's not
that hard to see, 32 gdr still kicking around here and there, you know, I saw one probably of just a few days ago driving past, and they still catch my attention.
I still can't go. Oh wow, nice 32, GTI or whatever
GT-R, not just saying, 32 33 or 34.
You know, any other skylines, they still do catch my eye, but I think just the vast choice. That was there at that show and
that you could actually look at probably drew me towards those cars. More workers.
They're probably vehicles that I haven't seen on the road or a might not know too much about them and I want to have a closer look at them. John, I think that's what it
might have been. That sucked me in.
What did you guys think on that? Like with what you've seen with?
What you guys saw that? And they would, I even even Alum
like if I can Terms of like cars.
Are you like Alan didn't see anything a wasn't there.
I'm talking in general mr. Munsch General mr.
Bunting be sure and include me in the sure.
That's all. Push trying to push me out of
here and just just on the quickly like when we went to cousin coffee in it was the sand down Raceway.
Yeah I remember like I'm a huge Mustang fan and yet the car that caught my eye We more was a Camaro SS there.
Yeah, it's just, it's just again, like you said, I was already so into Mustangs the time, looking at most things here, and they have quite seen in parent, had one and then you see, something a little different and that's kind of what catches your eyes sometimes.
Just something else that, you know, you still appreciate.
Maybe it's not, you know exactly your thing.
But still it's the you can't deny how cool you know an old-school SS Camaro is it's just it's something else.
Pretty much agreed with that. It's just like like the first
one you didn't win, you see cars in in an unusual color too?
Yeah, it does. Sakura there was a 78 Sigma s.
He's one of the original shape sigma's but being in there, see, they've got color-coded hubcaps and stuff.
This thing was bright, orange, completely original with the beige interior, but a lot of orange on that card.
Had the beaded seat cover and it had the rear the orange and Louver on the rear window and stuff.
It was very period options and stuff but had it not been dried orange. You know, it probably wouldn't
have created wouldn't have stood at nearly as much as it did and sort of create such a no. Such interest is a deed.
So I think, you know, in when you think I was think things things like Porsches and Mustangs, you know, if they're rare they're often read or they're black, or they're white, you know. But you see a beautiful blue one
or a metallic green one or something today.
Even today I was Working at Land Rover, dealership.
And the place is full of discoveries and Discovery Sports and evokes and you can Defenders and all that sort of thing.
And the area I was in was obviously, you know, the colored adjure is black or silver or what, you know, just so plain.
But they had a discovery sport there in this really lovely dark metallic green with beige interior and it was like wow that's the one I buy, you know all the cars in the lot you know it really He stood out amongst probably another 15 models of the same. That, you know, you wouldn't
look twice at you couldn't tell, which was which sort of thing.
But I think think colors got a lot to do with it too.
With what stands out what makes you notice, things more.
I think it's very topical. You said that David is this
morning on my stroll? I stopped at a set of lights and
I just thought what cars are coming past?
You know I as I just glanced it was it was really depressing.
Pressing not not that's not just the type of cars but that I was particularly paying attention to color and it was white, white silver, silver, white, black, white, silver, grey, grey grey grey grey silver, what? And then there was one or two
Reds and maybe one dark blue but they were few and far between and that was within maybe I stood there waiting for the light. Maybe maybe 40 cars went past
and I just thought my God what Have We Become?
You know, I thought Well, I'm partly to blame, you know, my dad has a white car, but my mom has a red car.
So you got okay, there is a bit of color in the family and then I was thinking about my cousin going to wipe to vo go white Pajero okay, but then you've got the yellow Renault, the red, MX-5 the blue, Mercedes the green Mercedes, you know, the red Honda City like this definitely color in there and I thought, okay, I'm not too bad then it really is just just sad and you look back at photos of the 1970s 60s 70s and 80s in, you know, chadstone car park. Historical photos is yeah.
Yeah, absolutely. If you look around and you go,
whoa, the color was magnificent 50s and 60s.
It was very pastoral. You know, was pale, pinks and
blues and greens and then it went 70s a bit more, you know, primary colors bit earthy, you know, sort of Browns and coppers and you know, autumnal yellows and things reads.
You You think of those Porsche Kermit greens and this?
Yeah, it's hard to say, give the Gemini, it's not just oh God it's boring. It really I just think we become
too far. Too scared of color in our cars
and in our homes. Yeah.
Like that's just something about the cars that I own and there besides the forest which I don't own any more, they are all black white or gray so silver. So it's like, yeah well I can
see why they are the most popular.
Because people just don't really like to standing up and you know, if you if I'm only get a context on that, that's what's gonna happen. I'm not just anyone.
My advice would be get caught. I was even thinking, you know,
like my dad's cars white in it. When I bought that in the lot of
stock that they had, there was one, there was white, black gray, and red and silver. And there was one red and I
toyed with it, I stood there and looked at it and thought it would we go read, you know, but it's quite a big car and I thought it's a Red and that it is all quite like the white nicd, I saw quite like the white and I knew that it was gonna live outside. That was my other thought was
white is very good for sort of keeping looking fresh when it lives outside. Yeah.
So, that was part of the reason that in hindsight, maybe we should have got the bloody red one.
At least it would be different, but I do feel.
There's a fair argument to be made between your basic white and then a pearl white because well to the cars at home, well, One of the cars at home is a basic white Falcon that looks terrible. I think over time.
But the the Essex for with the pearl white year to look, cleaned up that little purple flake in.
It is lovely and ordering, the Isuzu D-Max.
The same thing we went for the pearl, white color, there's just competitor, flat white, when the Sun hits it, right?
I think, even a pearl, white can can still look quite good, personally, myself when I'm choosing cars.
Yeah, the whole idea of like buying a plane is color for resale value. Who cares?
We get our. Yeah, great.
Why are you keeping the car for the next person?
That's like, you know, not not sleeping with your significant other to save them for the next person.
Get a color. Yeah.
Get a color and enjoy it. Yeah.
How long? You know, be proud.
My name is Alan and I drive a blue car.
Yes. Sometimes they with silver green
mixed cars. Well, yeah, but at least it's a
color and Blue soft top. Yeah.
Yeah, it's a classic edition of got blue Highlight.
We were like it. Do you like bring back to tone?
Yes, I agree with that. Bring that to the people who
can't decide quite which color, they like, you can have it back.
Like I said, doable Commodore with a navy, blue bottom on it or something but see like, that's like that could also be a note, like, two tone with the, like, the bumpers in there like a, like a plastic color. Like, you guys like that, the
base model, they In the fall, to put the foot on the forefoot pain. All over the car.
Yeah, because I got only one will when we're looking at territory when you're buying a new house, like, I'm not buying a TX, because I was like, why can I will be one color while?
I want my whole car to be the one guy.
So so, you wouldn't see. Why don't we put a deposit on a
walk? On a blue one, the blue
territory and a last minute, he's like, nah, I want to get a white one and I was disappointed.
I was like the blue one was so much.
Such a nice guy. Every time I sold out every time
I see the blue Ooh like a like a horse or blue afterwards.
Always like damage. We've got the blue you know
should have got the blue but yeah but to answer your question Scott in. There were a few cars here that
I just kind of walk past. Like I'd love you Iris Jr.'s
but there was like 15 there. Okay, we just don't know what
they were a lot there. So I kind of didn't even he
didn't even gravitate to one but then I gravitated to like, for like an Aristo or, or like, like a, like a name is still some nice to mix 5. Is there the Evoque three?
I was laughing. Like that black and the white
one, we're just stunning car. Now I was you and I was just
drawn to them like and now our next to some like really high-end like you know, GTRs and then all that stuff.
But these are the cars that kind of, that kind of just where I was like, wow, that's really cool.
Well, what about the one that had then one, you said, put into it that was completely stock. And yeah, standards have the one
you said in it. Absolutely will.
We've been to that on the last record breaking that Crusader, the had the one user. It it looks like Factory.
I think Ed remembers the car that, that, that when you said the V8 powered, Christina. It looked like it looked like
Toyota had done. It was spectacular and and that
and that and that car, you know, just you do you stay in there for a few hours trying to find out trying to find a file with a bit and then there's all these high-end you know, GTRs around and stuffing and super is around.
And you just, you're in a mood. By this, this poo brown crucita
feel like 80s interiors, and making it be a bit, come back.
Oh, yeah. People like Suede's and things
that was a tease luxury and they really liking it again.
Well, the amount of Smurfs that died to make Anthony's interior in his crown was going to been, would have been a lot, you know.
So where was Anthony on Sir, will you see there on Sunday?
He was. Yes, you did what.
It might seem why didn't he come say, because Edward, you are to gallivanting around with all these elements and stuff.
Get this right here.
Briefly couldn't find me all my car anywhere.
And when he got stuck in the car park because the whole Road parked behind him, I rang it. City you here and he said, I've
gone now but I'm stuck in the car park.
It was no way out, you know, everyone blocked him in.
So then he he went and got lunch at Willie's and came back and there was a spare spot. Any managed to escape?
All right, gentlemen, y sus Casas just quickly on the topic of the colors in your cars. Is there also an argument to be
made that some of the new cars? Just wouldn't look as good with
those colors of the other cars were available like any Hey, Civic bk9 in like the sort of the sunlight yellow.
I believe the color was. Yeah.
Like when you compare like a current Civic Type R with that yellow. Would it necessarily look as
good? I don't like I looked up some
pictures. I think it was a phoenix yellow
limited edition issue and I'm like it's also looks good.
It's just I don't know. The the ek9 just fits it so
well. See, I don't agree.
I do agree with you there until I saw it in person and I was like, okay this this looks phenomenal in person but I Doctor, I think the Pacific actually cuz like, I've always said, I do it, you know, dfk at never really looked very calm as good in any color unless it was the most was that great because it hides a lot of the color. But then I saw it in the blue on
there, on our on our run to is not classic Japan because Japan and our it was stunning, it looked epic in the sun.
It live on the I would buy one in that color like that would be the one I'd buy. So yeah, I definitely think that
that's that's a really thin. So I'll leave it with you.
Leave you with this last question guys.
Before we before we continue, I have to buy one car brand-new today and you have to pick a color for what's it going to be?
What does I guess? I said, I, you know, I take on
alam's point that some kinds of better in certain colors and others agree with that, absolutely.
But if it was Yeah, like okay, if I bought a Suzuki Jimny knew, I'd be very tempted by the jungle green, or the other right? Yellow.
Absolutely, absolutely. I was gonna say, like, for the
Suzuki Swift sport. I'd have it in the blue arc in
the blue looks great in that cup there.
Speedy blue, it's cold. I love the blue.
Yeah, does have to be Australian car could be anything.
Okay. Okay, I've up on my screen at
the moment, the new version of the end one that's just been released in Japan, the RS in a 6-speed manual.
Do I look cool? Sunset orange?
Oh yeah, orange. Yeah, it's it already with
orange highlights on the interior which that all the areas has had. So I don't know why you have a
yellow one with orange highlights that would do Meridian being acid, orange being orange, is very 90210, isn't it very, very much of that.
I kind of like that. Let me use got it.
I'll go for a gr Corolla. Yeah.
And I think they'll be one coming out in a British blue color. Hmm.
You can get them in the currently in that bright blue.
He'll get another color. They're all right.
I mean that's too and I think that would look fantastic.
This is just me with what we'll do.
You think that's the best looking small car in the segment? I think it's, I think it's a
good-looking car. Yeah, I'm very good-looking.
Yeah, yeah, even just a normal controller, doesn't.
The GI one. Yeah, completely really, really
good. That ends that are trimble's.
Phenomenal. Are I really like it?
Alan, you got to pick one? The 407.
Blue blue. Very good choice.
I like it. All right, gentlemen, shall we
get into tonight's final topic? Quiz the quiz quiz.
Definitely could have been better for me.
Now, a great great day and and just great to have.
So see so many people bring their cars out as someone pointed out to me during the week.
There are probably a lot of covid projects that people had been were and haven't been able to show so that probably explained the, the surgeon numbers, I think, I'd also also, like my sister and stuff came along and like my sister's not like what - she likes card, but she's not the biggest karere and she absolutely loved it. She's like, I'm coming next
year. She's like sugar.
She was like to me, it's giving me ideas to what I can do to the Forester. So she wants to put like blue
blue, you know what's called walnuts on the car and then a few other little touches that you want to make it a bit more her Banner from next year. She's not allowed to stuff
around, with that Forrester anymore.
Do you change the badge or something?
I too, didn't you? Yeah.
She was to put an overlay like a blue Subaru stars in the badge, which you can Bye. So she's been, she's been
inspired as she said and yeah and and and stiff limbs event to so yeah, it's a really chill event and yeah, really cool.
So when we open and Scott and I got some cool merch as well.
So that was a that was kind of cool.
Yeah. All right, gentlemen, can't talk
our quiz. 10 questions, possum, bonus questions.
Are you ready? Gentlemen, nice already buzzing
with your names. There you go.
GV was a big seller. Not in Australia.
But now in America and a few other places, however, its quality was very poor. What did the g v stand for in
its name? Okay.

They got a lot of their designs that from somewhere, somewhere else. Oh, I know, I know.

they all say it's that. I find that really hard to
believe considering so where were they following him in New Zealand and South Africa. New Zealand amazed America
because they're building Left Hand Rose.
They would actually wanted the old Japan.
Daddy was a dumb auntie left-handers.
True story, The whoever right, that obviously hasn't been to Dubai and say the number of Altona assembled Camrys as taxis incorrect. Yeah, you know, I thought it
would have been Ford Capri because because we sold, we saw them in quite High here. That's a good.
And Camara be recognized as a Commodore and the Chevrolet SS and everything else. So as our Australian exports,
you know, just maybe they build left at the whole new will building left hand drive cars for in the 60s and 70s for excited. They did King's words and all
sorts of things here, but they weren't deemed inverted commas, large numbers, which I find again, I'm only going with what I was doing question. Five the day.
We Carlos was a, some cut was a subject.

car. It means good.
Yeah, beautiful or good is a yeah either one I see what Rick is on to Edward on to not that because the Greek right?

the Stars. Yeah I'll go pay that in space
but that's I will pay that animal that refers to the brightest star in the constellation stars in the super. It's basically stylizing this
Subaru. I think where you got that from
is because we've been told about Subaru's badge.
Yeah. That the vortex that we got here
was actually the for like the new model of.
That was the aspherical. Could you get two cars list?

dash n, ee. What a weird word.
Like, I do the Japanese we need for making car names like the story in and stuff but my God, that would reflect very just because they couldn't plan stallion still here.
Probably. I think that's the truth.
It was named after. Okay, yeah, people thought it
was Starion. Mispronounced, but English, but
it's not start a Ryan. Yeah, well done, gentlemen, the
you go. I had no idea to Hugo was called
the G Vista for Great Value. So it was great value until it
fell apart, which was. But it's quite funny though,
like, in America, with Cars and Coffee, is if someone walks up with a, you go people, people lose their minds.
Like they like, oh my God. One still going.
Like it's a you go. It's the beige Magna wagon of
