Does professional idiot. Drive.
After hours. Tom Flores.
Yeah, it's obviously this your first time on the podcast.
Your we met through some Toyota car club events, and we've seen each other at secure a picnic and and good to have you onboard mate. Thank you.
So what? We'll make sure we get stranded
to with you mark before we get into it like alcohol updates and things. And obviously I just had
mentioned mentioned earlier met you through the Toyota car club.
Your you've got a quite an illustrious history with cars being from New Zealand, where you guys Get a lot more of a range than we do here in Australia.
We gotta we gotta look at Japanese Imports.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What you do.
Yeah, tell us about some of the cars you've owned because that you do own and plans are for the future.
Hey, well, you might know that. I recently moved to Australia
from New Zealand that was in pursuit of better work opportunities. I am an electrical engineer /,
reliability maintenance engineer.
Do I look after big Factory stuff, we improve it, we may play it and if they have big problems, they can't fix.
They come. And ask me because apparently, I
know more than a lot of other people, or any cousin to know, obviously, apparently. Sorry.
Castle, the things I've been a bit of a Toyota man, much more.
That probably stems from affected.
My dad was a quite a mechanic in the 80s and 90s.
He even had the privilege of Designing, some of the Toyota special service to others. Cool.
Do you like at arago Mark? No, I'll stay quiet.
Thank you. And I are gonna get along at all
then, because because it's got its head.
You just sold one to argue because still got one left.
I can appreciate everybody's choice in cars because if they have a passion for it, so it doesn't worry me.
We're pickles in between, but typically on little for soda for a GE man and it's where I focus. A lot of my attention.
We had so leakage, Camrys Brawlers in artuz.
I want to get another email to the Future and an electric conversion or two possible or my money is a drive trains at the moment. That should be right away
leaving electrical Currently stashed in the garage at the moment. I have a Toyota crawl walk run
around characters as in re 182, I have a GSE GS350 Orion which is fairly car and I have my little 1892 ethics GT which is in Japanese special and that's what the rents pushing close to 400 horsepower at the wheels. Yeah.
Is that really necessary? Absolutely, not absolutely not.
I've been in this card for For some context, David, I've been in this car, right? And it is nuts.
It just it and I've driven this car and you get it on the Boost and it just banging your semen and off you go, but it puts the palette and unbelievably well, that's pretty rough.
Yeah, a few reincarnations, I started off with the MR2 just straight engine and gearbox walking it and managed to kill it. Rebuilt it myself at issues and
actually paid an engineer with the door.
They didn't do it, right. So I did it the third time
myself. We got it, right?
So, this is a 20 valve head. Correct.
It is the total matter. What is now?
Yeah. And it's probably behaving
properly. Is this so many issues them
track of? It's just been a headache.
At least I got out and actually drive it.
So tell us a bit about that because you've had that car for years, right? So you've had that car. 15 2000
and 2008 ironic. Okay.
And there's a $1200 2014. It's fixed up the issues to the
electrical. Walnuts put 150,000 quesada from
that state. Then put it down turbocharged,
it It was making place to 200 kilowatts so they points and it looked like an absolute lemon. Had hardly any paint on it.
Have lost everywhere. It was the absolute epitome of a
stealth car. Nobody would take it.
Eventually the vast majority of it either.
Did myself or I help the guys do aside from that injury, Separate a shooter by manifolds. I did all the wiring myself.
That is why enough my computer boost control, traction control, all that stuff, financially, do myself.
I'd even even the directions on it.
We took it to the diner for finished off.
Everything's been DIY to an extent.
Absolutely like it's incredible to think is like, if you just see the car today, like, even if you do today, it just looks like a like a, you know, like a Japanese import to to door, you know, FX Corolla like it's just, it really doesn't look anything anything special at all. And then you gets mistaken for a
Toyota, Starlet. Most of the time.
Yeah. Yeah.
Well it wouldn't surprise me because we never got the, we never got the two doors. You can have it all.
Yeah. So I can see why people would
get that get that kind of connection but like even as it sits it just looks like a like a random old Corolla like tuna Corolla and then you pop the Bonnet and it's like whoa okay then let's this is no room for anything else.
Let alone working on those. Yeah you've got your water to
air in a callers. You've got a big turbo charger,
you've got it, even all the all the goodies on the The Bonnet which is just like it hits you in the face because it's a you do not expect to see that at all.
It's so you've had that. So since 2008 and you've had a
real pain because it looks in really good.
Nick despite having over 300,000 kilometers on it.
So 160,000 cases now, wow. Okay.
Literally That was a recent addition.
Correct, getting an uncle blades that was last time.
Yeah, it was last week you were telling me when you took it in for a road where the the the people couldn't believe what they were looking at. They just wasn't what it's
worth. So, plans for the future, what
would you plan on getting if you had to go.
So you, so you said earlier, you get an email to you said, you've only last, a couple of the prices that crazy at the moment.
Well, but I don't like to get one of the awl weapon Flying Wedge. In are two peas and do that
electric conversion for That would be a lot of fun.
That would be very fast. They do not scary.
Yeah, be Scooby. Absolutely terrifying.
But I think, I think if you find, if you found the right car like a right, donor car here and so and they're still around, you can still find, you know, some pretty beat up, one's for, you know, okay. Sorts of money, I think that
would be probably the kind of do it too.
Absolutely, absolutely so. So Mark obviously, you know,
it's your first time on the show, how we, how we run the show here, where we as, you know, we've got if tonight's topic which I'll get to in a second, but we do what's called car update. So we go around the screens just
talk about what we've done this week, in terms of our cars.
Then we get into our topic and we do a car quiz at the end of the show. We also drawn by Scotty, do how
are you going? Yeah, not too bad.
Hell. Is everybody else?
Very good bait? Let's get into some car updates
and then we'll get back. Straight back with you with your
mark. Patrick updates with you man.
After its well. So everyone want to make a well
known that the Meza is gone. And I, so feels a bit surreal.
I mean, just just past, the actually dropped it off the mechanic today and pass the Roadie flawlessly.
So, well, this Lawless league revolted and apparently, the I was actually quite surprised that much myself because apparently these days, it's as High School Getting a roadie.
It's harder than much more strict than the cracking down a lot harder but yeah, the mechanic study there was nothing with the cars with brand new so that was good.
So yeah. There's some time this week.
You'll come and pick it up. So Bittersweet, you know, I did
have as much as I hate to admit. I did have a lot of fun in that
card. I did have gone plenty of
Ventures with it. So I am going to miss her, I was
just telling about before that, I'm, I guess that I was sitting in front of And like, talking to her like an actual person or lipo. Neighbors, look at me, like, I'm
a weirdo bike. Just talking to.
Our kids are for sentient being, but we've all been there.
We'll be there. Oh man, I don't know.
It's just like, I'm just this, it's going for it, it's going for a good cause, but like it's, I don't know, man.
Like I always said from the start, you know, I want to get rid of that want to sell it, but yeah, it's now that it's happened. It's like kind of well.
I'm not I don't regret anything but Yeah, it's just the way I always look at that. Pat is can I buy another one?
Is it so rare that I won't find another one and three absolute.
You buy another one and you can always buy a better one.
So I sort of whenever I've sold a car like that I sort of sleep at night going. If I really wanted another mess
to three, I could go and buy another SP 25.
That's better than the one I had you know, hundreds and if you can answer that question and sort of go, yes they're out there then it's not that terrible.
You know, you will, you will. What if you want 100%?
Yeah, that's how you want, but, you know, it just gives you that get out of jail. Yeah, that little girl.
I killed the game. Guilt free trip.
Yeah, on the sound rip. So it's not like they're already
calling me. No matter you, same everywhere,
the nothing special is just literally the main reason why I got that car was just to get me from A to B, but as we've obviously surface answers changes time to get rid of it.
So now only weighs up. So now on the highlights
literally up up in the air from the air.
Yep. Yeah, I'm for a Allen 67 Hilux
and then as 13 shortly after, so everything's kind of belt.
It was, it took forever since I was going to happen but now that for this was a big step for like my vision, my plan to, like, start coming into play. And now that I've taken the
step, it feels like all of my hard work is starting to, you know, pay off. And so I start to show itself so
slowly by slowly along and rushed into and then just like throwing myself. But yeah, I'm already already
found a few actually. Hilux is done.
We're gonna go have a look possibly this weekend.
So hopefully that all I have to do for cars that I want just to sort of Envision them just like a board.
Yeah, vision board on your wall, you put you put the cars that you want that. They, that you see yourself
owning and then if you see me, if you see my room right now, I it's just I'm the biggest as chassis Fanboy.
I got posters of s13 to get all my Hot Wheels.
I'm going to S15, like model those Imported from Japan, my friends got me for my 21st died, this plane in the display case.
It's I'm a fanatic yet when it comes to stuff like that.
But yeah, it's good motivation, waking UPS like, you know what?
This is what I'm working towards his.
So yeah, and I was well, with this on top of Esther teens.
Um, they've gone, there are the slowly going down in price.
I feel like people have realized our fuck.
These are not know, twenty thirty thousand dollar cars, you know, that are well, something there like it's a piece of shit.
And listen, that's worth no more than, you know.
Can a bag of potatoes. So come over saying that but I'm
it's true. So it may be that that's works.
I'll bet in my favor. So I mean, my options to him are
much more than just seen are getting one.
That's completely clapped-out. Full of rust.
Blah, blah, blah. So now, I have that I can say it
comfortably that I can now say I have the luxury of taking my time and seeing what's out there.
Instead of just jumping on the first one that's shaped that pops up because it feels like now, it's still a red card.
They're going to be wrong and still, you know, still paying a pretty penny for what they are. But that option of, you know,
how browsing is now is now there, which is good, which is a big relief off my shoulders. So yeah, exciting finding things
to come guys so really looking forward to it.
Well done, well done, Patrick good news, Edwards updates with you. Did I mention the Moke last time
you did you're gonna move? Yeah, okay so still doesn't run.
So some I got a new solenoid just arrived tonight in the mail, ignition solenoid thing. So I just put that on before the
show quickly and same time, so it's not really turning over fast enough for it to think about firing.
So I've got to work out why that is hmm.
Other than that, it's good. You know, I'm very happy with
the purchase. Few people had a It pretended to
draw the mark. So Right hands.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that your outcomes on
the time, hopefully, I can make it work and in the part of the driver side. Oh yeah.
So I was lying in bed the other night and thinking about, how do you change a spare wheel on a Moog?
I know it has a spare wheel on the back but I was thinking where's the wheel brace? Where's the Jack?
Like, you know, I thought God I didn't get any of that stuff.
Tough with this car and I did some Googling on a forum and it came up with, oh yeah, there's a jack, there's a wheel brace, there's a black bag, there's even in very rare cases, a block of wood that with spray painted on it Jackin block because the Jacks like a bottle jack and it has to sit on something under the car, otherwise it doesn't go high enough.
So it's a factory block of wood and I live.
All this is rare blob. You know, literally I could see,
Ed doesn't have that and he'll go.
Bunny get some Pine spray paint, it black and gray.
Original my original wood there. So I started sniffing around.
The markers is no boot. I mean there is that there's a
sort of an area to be but there's nothing in it, the cars empty, it's a shell. I started thinking where the
hell would anything be stored? And it does have these little
side panels that are removable with two screws, 11 houses the fuel tank on the left hand side and there's a storage cubby in front of that. So I found it will break sorry,
wheelbase. It will filter in that one.
The other one on the back, right?
Has a battery and then there's two cubby holes in front of that the middle cubby hole is empty. But the front cubbyhole, I found
the original bag. Original wheel brace, the
original Jack and original block of wood with jacking block, spray painted on it from Leyland.
And I was like, wow, I didn't expect that and I found the original lock nut for the nuts on the wheels.
So I would have been screwed had I not delved into that little cubby hole so I was happy with that.
I thought This car is turning out to be a bit more genuine than maybe I first thought the go it would so send.
You've got, you've got the original wood.
It's instantly worth twenty thousand dollars more.
Now it's really clean block of wood.
Yeah and a friend of David's and mine who's in the Honda Club but he's also in the moat Club came out on the weekend to have a quick look. And he, he said, all of you got
the original jacking block and I said, I do, I found out.
He was a, he was happy with that.
So yeah, despite not running, I'm still happy with my Purchase, Mark, did you get mokes in said?
Yes, we did. I think a friend of mine
actually had one for a bit. What are your thoughts on mokes
Mark? Well, I think they're
interesting little carriage, you know, we need you over with the Mochi. If not the Toronto go.
Yeah, I found them. Interesting are but I think I've
actually driven when I look pretty neat, pretty cool for other updates about it. As we've mentioned, briefly
before the show, had a nice drive Sunday with the Honda Club, David. Wanted to take his in one which
he did, but I wanted to take David's red Scamp because none of my Honda's were in town. And so the middle end, 364 a
decent burn out in the country on some nice country roads and that was great fun. You've Really Got A, you know,
you've got to work the gears, you've got to sort of pay attention to what you're doing, but it known enjoying the run.
It was a nice, a nice, afternoon's, entertainment.
Hmm, some great words, it's it's amazing.
How many great roads where there are when you just do it in Googling and I hadn't actually driven the right?
I've just mapped it out on Google Maps and I just don't have time to drive it but another fellow in the club did.
So he drove it and said, oh yeah, it's pretty good.
But it was actually breathe. It was it went for the back of
harkaway and across sort of into packing them from the north and stuff and it was a good drive. I really like the roads and I
kept thinking this would be great in a mooc One day over the summer on day. One day, mr.
Prince. Well, the aforementioned Edward,
bunting actually came over to my place on Saturday as well and we took the Civic wagon from bit of a drive after its head of tweak down, the freeway got up to 100. So that's a requirement Su not
performing as As willingly as I'd like it to be, but it Brandon, idled and drove fine for about 45 minutes.
I think we were out and Yeah, well, it, it was fine.
Didn't overheat didn't do anything.
The order of the gearbox is good the to speak, semi-auto.
Honda medaka box, it's good. Yeah, so that's good.
So, I also spent some time, trading up the wheels and drag the old Channel bars out of the roof and found, rummaging around. I knew I had Adam somewhere.
And surprisingly, for me, they are actually exactly what I thought. They were a set of brand new
first gen, Honda Civic station wagon, mud flaps, that were specific to the to that car. Well, I'm unlikely to have
another first gym. Civic wagon, because I haven't
seen one for about 15 years. So we now has a set of brand new
Factory, wagon specific mud flaps as well.
So that's very cool. Now that Snowboarding, wooden
Jackie block, pretty good, but look great.
I might flip does finish off a car.
I think in some cases it's just known as the old person pack in the, in the trailer but that was good.
Had the caddy in for service yesterday.
I better be careful what I say, because Scottish schnitzel inches all turn himself from Saying the things that wrong with the Volkswagen, thankfully is, this is the first thing that I first problem I had with this one, and the hinge in the lower heat English. The pin in the lower hinge, on
the driver's door, started to seize the duel and harder and harder to shut and open. And it was just a gradual thing
at first and I actually go. And I know moved it for me
couple of weeks ago. And he said, what is going on
with the door, your cat? He had the same van Is it all
used to be hot night? He said, it's crazy.
So anyway, they wouldn't did under warranty.
So it's got a new lower hinge and it's much better now.
So that's cool down in today. The CRV winning for 70,000 case,
service. So it's been, well, I was gonna
say an expensive week, but the Volkswagen was free.
It was good that again, if you gave me a t cross to drive for the day, which is the, their small Polo based SUV, which There's so many things in that in that expression, the would turn a lot of people off one liter, DSG must be.
It is turbocharged, I'm sure it's turbocharged went fine.
But it was, it had that auto stopped at the light switch.
My van has, but it's really interesting, the difference during the three cylinder one later, and the four-cylinder 1.4
that mine is, the 1.4 is much smoother, with cutting out and
starting again, rather than the One later was settled quite yeah there's a big clunk and the big Shake went through the car.
Every time it started that would drive me pretty crazy pretty quickly. I think it's been that officer
button to get rid of it. Yeah there is it's just a
default thing. You got to remember to keep
turning it off every time and started though.
So it's somewhat when you when you start it and then today I had a superseded HIV as a loan car which was still impresses as a Was isolated rather than the t cross.
I thought, but it's a 1.8. So it's got a bit more behind
it. Yeah, that it's about me.
I think. So that's your service month.
David princess? I wish I wish.
I'm not nearly as organized as some people on the Belt.
Scott. I got no updates.
I've just been a bit of a crippled with a bad knees.
I've had the past two days off back at work tomorrow Severus Snape. No, I heard it just feeding the
cats. What?
Yeah, that's how I did it. Did you do?
I had to go to? I went to hospital on Sunday.
Hell yeah. And then, they did x-rays on my
kneecap and all that. Just because I've Dislocated
before. And he said, it seems like might
have been a partial dislocation. Oh, no.
So not the best. So, yeah, I can update.
I haven't been able to do anything.
Well, hopefully, you're okay. Scotty any updates.
Any updates, their updates. Yeah.
Any updates on the mend Xmas. Up days with me, I'm weak to
into hovel ownership of my lovely H2.
It's, I took it to daylesford and all around the, well, around that area in the Macedon ranges on the weekend.
And, yeah, it drives aka the I reckon the turbo has got some, some bent fumes or something, because it sounds like a like a like, a blender at Lowell Lowell.
Oh, but when you get it spinning a bit more, it quiet.
So, It's a bit weird, but maybe next to me.
His wife in the car and and he's, he's like Havel.
Where's that car made? And I'm like, I'd say Chinese
and he's like, he's like, oh yeah, it's like it looks.
All right. I'm like, I'm like, yeah, I
thought it's not too bad. It's, you know, it's not like
I'd it's yeah, it's a rental. I explained to him.
That I'm just just driving for now and he's like, he's like, well, he's like, you know, good luck with it.
And I'm all my calling. You had your Commodore for.
He's like, I bought a brand-new. I'm like, of course you did.
He's like a Turret turning 40 thousand cases in it.
He's like never had an issue with it.
Is like it. It's it just drop it you jobs
because he lives in lives in Sunbury or just passed some Brie on a property there and he drives into the city.
Most days. And I don't like that.
It's good man. Like I was always exciting
because putting 98 in, it sounds like you're a good man and that I that I said I said bye to him and continued on my Merry way.
But yeah it's um, it's It rides. Okay.
It's not, it's not the best driver in the world, but the blind spots pretty horrendous, and especially when reversing, but above that, you know, it's probably not going to miss it when it goes, but it, but it's been okay.
So, just a little bit, get the fiesta back.
Hopefully this week, sometime fingers crossed, so we'll have to go from there. But anyway, that's another story
and love thing tomorrow night at the LTD is getting a She's getting ready to be sold, so it would be happy about that.
And can't complain at me anymore.
Very happy. So.
So that will be on its way. But gentlemen, it is.
Tonight's topic of the hundred thousand dollar challenge.
So you've got a hundred thousand dollars you won the lotto hypothetically speaking and they said and they said to you one of them. Listen, Patrick.
Listen, Edward listen Mark, listen, Scott the someday.
David, you cannot use his money for anything else besides buying cars? You can any kindly, by Max a
problem. Ya know.
And I'll be like, hey, this is, this is, this is my dream.
This is my dream. Lotto win, like, who needs the
money when you can buy cars? Now, you've got 100K to play
with. You don't have to use all the
money and you don't have to spend the money on for cars.
You can buy one, you can buy two, you can buy three doesn't really matter. So it's up to you as to what you
would buy. Now, the challenge was yet to
find these cars on the interwebs so you so we can share our screen. And and see what you guys have
bought. And, and you need to explain why
you've why you've chosen them. Obviously because it's, you
know, with Fair reason I've chosen X, Y, and Z.
So would you like me to go first and explain how this will work gentlemen? Absolutely.
Okay. Ready, lovely.
Well I'll go first now. Jen before I show you my first
car, what is a what is a V8, powered sport, sedan from the you know that To the North's that people tend to forget about. You're going to be doing the
quiz now, X. Alright, accelerate Falcon, not
accelerate Falcon. I have, I've got no, no, Falcon
based product in my, in my inventory, which is, which and pouty, it's amazing. I know it's amazing, right?
Not an Audi either Scotty. It's the can't nobody thinks
about. Its everyone thinks about the
inline, tne not be 92, M, 3s and the C63 s, but this car was right there with him, and no, um, five, Incorrect.
It is a Lexus IS F. I've always always liked these
cars since the only. I thought they were quite a
classy car. Lovely.
Sending you a letter saying, I know this one's 46 Grand.
So for those that have already digitized, that as well.
Yeah, we've got good taste garlic.
We've got good taste. Yeah.
Is f, got its got 120,000 case on the clock, black leather interior, black on black, nice wheels, and it's you can seem to be in good condition. I was kind of like the exhaust
over there between these so they're like the the, the stack stack this on. But basically, that is my my
luxury sedan. When I, when I want to go out
and turn good cruise down Chopper straight when nobody would notice me anyway, because it's Alexis and not a beamer.
So that is kind of my My 8-cylinder v8-powered sport sedan, which are which I, which I kind of like.
Now, me being me and my family kind of guy.
I like, you know, I like doing things.
I need a wagon and what better way again, than w124.
So yeah, so this one is a light one.
It's a late 94, build E2, 80. Now this is 24 Grand.
They're getting quite expensive these days but this one is quite a quite a nice example. Really, really clean, clean
body. Nice.
Like the wheels are to be in good shape on it.
No rust in the usual spots, quite tidy still got the as you'll see in, it's got the what's it called?
The NFL thing about an hour ago, cargo Nets, the cargo Barry, I should say, stick with the DC to the rear and it's got em e-text and it's got the the, the cover too.
So you can put your stuff in there and I got a blind car.
Blind. That's the word looks really
straight down the side. Nice little motor, huh?
As I would say as trying to be trying to be mr.
Mister I grew up but it is, it is they do everything word tonight? Yeah.
Nick go blind, I'm struggling a bit.
Which is why I liked it because they just disintegrate on those ones. Resuspension cylinders done
radiator water pump in air conditioner, regas gearbox reconditioned as well as the rear hatch, gas struts have been replaced, no rustling, Dia plate pillars has a slight paint craze on the rear bar, but apart from that, really nice example of a 12-4 wagon. Now, you know, me guys.
Like a hot hatch. What better way to do it?
Then it takes 3 Turbo right? Like come on.
Whoo. He is so tasty turbo.
Four wheel drive. Mark, did you get these in the
in the end zone? Yes, yes we did.
I'm taking me back a few years later.
This one is akh. So it's an early KH, being a 91.
So four-wheel drive takes 3 Turbo.
So it's the one you want looks to be in really good.
Nick couple of couple of Update modifications on it to keep it going. So, it's got upgraded,
suspension Bill Stein's. There, you should be here happy
with that. With that bunting are like the
Simmons. I would put, I do like the
Simmons. You don't like them.
I think they suit the car, actually, to be fair, the black and gold. I think that kind of like, kind
of looks. Alright?
But I would more happily have the original white Wheels.
It's got its own exhaust and an ECU.
It's but has had it for quite a while 1123.
Now, it's 20 grand so. So, just so just putting it out
there. The Lexus was 46, the Benz was
24, and the tech tree topper is 20 grand, which is a lot of money. Well, I remember when these were
like three thousand dollars forever and you couldn't get rid of them, but in Black looks to be in really tidy condition.
Yeah, that's that. That's that now, my last Carl
was like, well, these are might. Those are my three toys, right?
So now I need the car, the daily driver, the reliable bus thing that we'll just keep working. Now, I own one of these as an
automatic. I didn't own one of these as a
manual, so I thought the perfect daily driver would be under a cord Euro in a manual. It's a luxury.
So you've got your leather heated seats, a sunroof alloy, you nice alloy wheels and in the manual.
I think that would be a cracking cars a manual.
I liked it as an order but I think it's a manual it would be even better 198 on the clock but that's really nothing for a case series looks to be quite tidy and original so and that's 10 grand and outtakes me exactly to 100,000 dollars.
So this one a lot not a lot of said it said about it but basically it's the second owner owns, the last nine years, full-time academic, insert inside, out and full books.
And history is available. So that is my fault.
Or cars gentleman. Very nice.
Selection are Matthew. And so prove it, that I can see
myself driving a few of them. Absolutely.
Yeah. There you go.
So that was my, I tried to be difficult, everyone's like, always going to pick a good exhaust, leaks, turbo, or something. No, I've decided that I went
through, I played a smart option of cars that I know would work would be, reliable, would still be fun to drive and would do everything. I need to do so I've covered my
way. I'm cutting my sport sedan, kind
of my daily and come on my hot hatch.
So I'm I'm I'm sorted. Who'd like to go next.
I can go next. I don't I don't have the screen
Sherry but I'll talk you through them.
You can't if you at the bottom of your screen and but you can, I have you got on your phone your her and I save them on my phone. Okay.
That's all you can just you can just flick it on around, on the on the screen shots. As you go higher, Car number one
is a Honda City turbo to 1985, right?
Really. It's manual.
It's twelve thousand dollars and it looks like that is so cool.
Little hesitant a little scooter in it.
No, but I can get you one of those could be worth more than it would be worth. More than the bloody car pretty
much. Yeah, the scooter is a kind of
getting up there. There's like 7 8, 9 grand for
some of them. So that was kind of one at
twelve thousand dollars car. Number two, I thought you can't
go wrong with a good old Volkswagen Beetle 60 thirteen thousand dollars. It's that lovely honey.
Brown color is David. I think with the past.
Yeah 13 Grand for 1.6 Beetle. I like the look of that.
Now I don't know we like Italian cars but I thought why not have a crack at a Fiat Topolino with. Look it's 35 thousand dollars,
it's gorgeous red with a little Roots and toppling translates as little mouse. Yeah.
Correct. So you've got that.
How much is that 35 + 13 + 12? What's that 660?
Yeah. Okay, so I've got some money
left over. So, I'm under budget here, but I
did find also a Porsche 924 manual, which silver with a nice pour, slow down the side. That's 16 Grand.
So, I'm under budget and there's four cars and you've got money to fix the cars because get cause I guarantee they'll be broken. The city of properly?
No called Beetle. And on Porsche 924, like that's
a pretty cool garage, it is a very cool garage, as you would say, it would imagine opening up the garden, seeing the imagine seeing those for there and you really haven't spent crazy money. Funny thing is, with the 924,
not many people, not many people know that that's basically a Volkswagen So, so people would be like oh, it's a Porsche.
Yeah, it's it's pretty much even though I have Get probably realtor boat. That's the city's.
An ideal daily, you know, probably not the top bellino or the Porsche. Maybe the beetle would also be
a, you know, a good regular starter.
Yeah. That'll work.
Yeah. Air-cooled, you know, they're
pretty robust. They are Patrick everyone.
My turn now. I've only got two cars.
You can show you screen, but I just want to say, you can't buy everything for 400 G which in reality the car money isn't a lot unfortunately. So I had to play it.
Safe. There are many much more cuz I'm
not as basic and predictable as I will be right now, do this.
Okay, so the first car, of course, as we all know I'm not really a my really Patrick without I of course. Yes, pewter gray.
This is a spec Sgt. So 39,000 the place it's got on
our front door. I suppose we may need to call
our their Factory error. Factory rims, the factory pods,
it's all Factory, which how I like it, Factory rooms, you know, keep a clean, cut the leather interior, 6-speed clean, nice and simple. You can't be two more, possibly
one of the best. That's all You really nice car
like this. It's very clean example of one.
Yeah I like it. The gods have them enroll have
been touch. It's just a marker is only got
sitting on only 142,000, which is, you know, pretty low actually because a lot of them I know you're reaching people are sung and they got like, 200,000 180, Etc.
So, let's suppose you delivered 12 that that's, that's a 200SX.
Yeah, I see the little bit, I was looking at the, I'm just some Japanese deliver, but to be honest, there are all the Japanese ones I've come across. So just disgusting that jib like
the kids just rust everywhere and just because I came in that way. Yeah came in that way or people
made him that way by yeah. You're right.
But yeah it's by spec Sgt I was delivered straight.
The gearbox put perfect MTA coilovers 3 inch exhaust pipes running caller booms. He accelerates it's pretty much
just it is a pretty much a cookie cutter recipe for Miss 15 but yes. Think you can beat them at that.
That simple setup is more than enough crack out.
For God knows when everyone's is so forth or not.
That was a, this is of course, the first car by very predictable, second car. Well, it kind of goes back to,
you know, my roots. And you know, once I had the
once I bit the forward back forward by God, I couldn't get rid of it. It will stay all stay with me.
So of course I'm going with her 06 Falcon, X6, turbo, BF.
Mark to you doing a me? I'm doing I'm doing, I'm doing
imaginator, but a cool color, it's a nice color it's aren't I?
Like it sitting on those on what's the name of that color octane are you octane or even orange?
There you go. I smart.
Yeah again clean example of one, you know it's it's nice not doesn't look like it's been thrash.
My my for some reason, my pet peeve with Falcons is the tow bar and that and they are the whole Firm.
Yeah this one is blocked off, thank God so I try to me, it looks much better. Much cleaner.
Doesn't look like your typical Bogan, you know, Ozzy people to car. That's been scared.
So he's got the cover stock. It looks like a van outside.
It hasn't been messed around with cleans our body straight.
This is still intact which is very rare because Marlon was hanging off for dear life. As all Falcon, when I was there
in tears were built, like crap just simple boost gauge on the pillow, which is gone 04. I don't see that same as much on
Falcons on the pillar, the many sit where the clock is over here, so, but that's fine. ZF 6-speed Auto, you know, try
former one in the manual, it's close to Impossible.
Interior seems to be kept in real good Nick as well.
Let's get there. It was options with the sport
levers. Yeah.
That's I think that's an I think they called him so base.
Ali, you could order back in during be series Falcon.
And earlier, you could order with different colored with whatever colors teaching you wanted.
So so that's got like the orange stitching to match the car.
That's actually really cool. It also with the obviously do
cards match it as well. Yeah, I don't know about the
door cards. How the mattress?
I think they're a bit broader than their car.
Orange bar. You know, that's not factories
it. The door card inserts?
I don't think so. No, they're, they're definitely
not they Seats are because because I, I've seen many cars with with the different colored stitching from Factory, which you could always, you could order.
But I think that's been done. There it is.
There's God's mode are pretty much can't beat it.
Pretty much a detuned, fpv murder.
This one's only sitting at 93 thousand kilometers, which is why I had to pick this one. It's practically brand-new.
It's low Patrick. Can you can you just read at the
price on this car? Just just just out of gear
curiosity. See the price 39,000 $50 for a
falcon for a taxi. You're paying the other almost
that brand new, so he held it as a loss value.
This will mean. So there are six speed, you
know, it's pretty, it's pretty much, literally the cleanest straightest Falcon and I always said to myself, I do want to get back into a falcon, definitely be able to Again, I did have a bit coming from either in a BF and I love that car.
It was. Yeah, so I would go if Peavy,
but to me it's what you pay. It's not worth it.
You just kind of paint for their badge.
Sorry, Matt, currently comprises of them.
I would justify it. So I'm even, this is will be too
much. So both these cars combined will
put me under I think just under just a bit over. 79,000 for
memory, which means, gives me, plenty of spare change to know maintain the cars modify more by another ship box.
So thank you guys for the hundred thousand dollar challenge. I like it, I like it.
Good selection, Mark, your cars. All right.
Sharing one markets that ready? Patrick.
When I was in Dallas been on the weekend, I saw like it looked to be the most original S15, you know, 200SX I've ever seen.
Like, it had a bit of pain fail. It was it looked like it'd been
just parked there for years and it was in Silva and I was like, Oh, I thought of you straight away.
I'm like, why did you know? I'm going to I'm going to tell
you about that car. But anyway, mark Oh rocks.
I'll start with would be the family car.
In this case it is a 2007 trt Orient.
Good choice. I think it's a good choice
because the strongly made you. It's a kid doesn't make the
interior. If you link the outside you just
go get any other standard Dorian panels and Chuck it on there.
But she's fairly tidy, and black City, mag wheels and we have the nice TRD supercharger under the Bonnet on it too.
Gr motor. Make it about 350 horsepower.
I think it is okay, but that's okay.
And actually, my first example of it, it's really tiny and white. It's got a nice weight interior
and whatever the case on it. Yeah.
They're nice fun car. They don't, you don't have to go
fast to her fun. It's 22 and a half Grand.
Absolutely. So, a bit of the click the car
and I've always had a bit of a soft spot for this for their ice 25, GT4. So he's already boy, young extra
Wheels about the only modification to, this is an exhaust. I'd love to give you tips on a
GT for our see that they exist anymore.
Yeah they don't. This is a bit of a.
Patrick R is a bit of a day. We can't.
And a bit of a Scotty car, I guess.
This is what if all of you guys Father understand what kind the kind of annoys me is that people get.
So like I know if a car has been respraying or like reupholstered. Yeah.
Like if it's if it's been done correctly it was done like to wear a high standard. Absolutely.
The point is wrong with it. There's nothing wrong with being
wrong, man. Like what's the, what's the
point of having a car? That's original, but the things
falling apart, you know, you got paint fight.
What? Just so you can have the
bragging rights or my car still original there.
Anything different Yeah. Absolutely.
I like that. GT4.
How much did you pay for this 45?
Greater, that's 45,000 dollars. That's coming has been acquiring
considering what they go for. Like they go for around 60 plus
here. I mean, you're on the road so
that looks to be a decent price for that.
And I guess you can't really like the wheels that's cool. If you're going to go a little
bit mortified, you have a bit of fun.
And if you don't really care if he had small things to hey hey just stay on that. Photo from it.
Can anyone see what sending me troppo?
So it'll be sending David troppo is the is the thing it affects me. And also the the map the map
pockets are there must be a history with that Mark and it triggered. It's a trigger.
This is like this is a cool example like it's got kid on it, Mark, doesn't it? It's got you it's got your bull
bars. Got your winch, it's got your
lift kit. Yeah, its head, it's got
scratches on the pain but it did.
You don't care because it's, but it's made to do you made it?
You're meant to go Bush. Bashing it.
It's what it's made to do. Well, for some reason, massive
turbo intercooler. That's really cool and that was
15. That is a really cool selection
of cars with that. That is a, that is a cool bunch
of cars. So you've got just clarifying,
you had your Tod aurion. You had your Patrol GT4 and the
Toyota 86 daily. Cool.
Cool selection. Yeah, mr.
Prince The floor is yours. All right well let me just on
the middle of the place like a man twins breakfast or a madman's breakfast for that matter.
The first one quite predictably because I've asked between to two different options all day so they're both sick.
Well the first ones are 2020. Honda Civic type-r manually
Racing blue. Okay 32,000 Meters.
Seventy one and a half thousand dollars which sticks in your craw, prove it because they weren't anything like that new.
But yeah if you want are now, that's what you're paying.
Wow. It's that that really nice blue
that that you drove that day isn't just boost.
Our it's I can't it's not it's either Racing blue in an America and boost blue here or the other way around.
I can't remember. We split but it's almost like
French Racing blue from back in the days.
You can color a nice color look like wife's initials on it.
So you know it's like that's a sign David.
That's a sign. Absolutely.
Yes. So that's the 32,000 K.
So it's been driven since its since 2020 which is good to see.
Hopefully it's been it's been meticulously maintained with ceramic nergy and Upgrade taillights curries in standard formulas are not actually if they have greater the tablets, but anyway, but yeah, having driven.
One of those, I would certainly have one of the.
Did you say the cards had to be in Australia?
Or could they be outside the country?
We didn't specify, but I guess if you've done it, it's okay.
Actually, the other one, the other one that I had earlier in the day, which I will revert to was the also in Australia and it's 27. I-90.
So that brings my total to ninety nine thousand, three hundred ninety dollars. Honda it's actually a Honda
Activa sdx manual possible some cases, it's a 660 CC.
So unlike the ones I was looking at that need require the gonna come play. This can't go to conflate
obviously but that's your four wheel drive.
That's your truck for your bunny and run.
That's your it's a couple of airbags.
That's it. Air-conditioned, it's you know,
got it all going on. And it's in Melbourne so you
know it's another sign isn't it? May I'm telling you, you've got
to get back to you one of these days, I think.
So, we need to get this hundred grand, you talkin about.
So you enter the the the imaginary Lottery.
And then the Imaginary Lover Lottery will choose you.
Possibly, that's good choice of cars.
Really, really cool Choice. It's interesting to think about
your Patrick went to each nail Scotty is Lucky last to go.
I have ten how many cars in the world for for okay, let it go with the maximum, just something completely different.
Not what I normally do it was so tough because I was just that there's so many that I want to own.
So I feel like if I had these for, I'd probably be selling them all the time and buying something else over and over again, which one you want to start with?
I will go through the ISF quickly.
Okay? And then my other option, that's
is not the ISF Oh God. Okay, there we go.
Aye, sir. So I've picked this one because
I thought it would be great. Well, family car to go for a
cruise long trips in will be nice and comfy and I'd probably even just daily at around as well.
Easy to maintain easy to look after they keep going and going plenty of power, nice rumbles. So pretty much it was a new
said, you know, they're great cars.
Mmm, absolutely critical pretty Ten point seven hundred guys average. That's not bad.
That's ambitious though very images to that would be just babying everywhere. How do you set the car?
You chose? I chose a black one?
He chose? Yeah.
And because we chose the same. I thought.
Well I'll quickly throw in the other option that I was considering and that was this one here C63 but the wagon.
Yes. Absolutely.
Yes, it is car. I thought that'd be perfect for
everything to fit everything in the back.
It's really bad. Nicely done.
It's got the update. Someone's putting updated screen
on there, which is actually quite nice because in fact, the factory ones aren't that great. But yeah, that's that's a cool
guy like it'd be great for long trips.
Now the next car is 19 to be the track track day car.
So I'm sure you can pick which one that one might be.
So I picked this one to enjoy and have fun, you know, take on track days, take on skid pan days and go right through the hills and Hammer it around. That's when you could just drive
there to the track and drive home in it, you wouldn't have any dramas, they've gone up in price.
These see evo 8 6 speed manual. Yeah, they are a bit more
expensive. I mean, I've got it.
He ever ate Mr. That was cheaper than this is 38 ground, and I've
got an 8 Mr. For cheaper than this.
Yeah, back in the day, I think that would be perfect to have a lot of fun with and this fun is completely stopped.
Yes, everything nothing's been touched.
Yeah, it looks to be very original like really clean too, and I like to put the, put the mats in the back, the original Mets in the back and that's just really cool.
Yeah, so I was reading a little bit about it.
It's he's only just imported it. That's a fresh import.
A little bit of work on a couple things.
Just your normal paint. The clear coat coming off.
Just pretty common. Yeah, on the on the wing.
And just the one is it that a acda?
Yd button, not working. That's what you change.
All three of them on. I was like, yeah, that's no
drama. It'll still go.
Well, yeah, all right. Third pick.
This one is w202, love. I wanted to get back into one of
these. Absolutely.
This is about as close as I could get because it's got the well, I guess that the cluster and that is looks almost the same as my c43 did when I was looking at it look very, very similar. Yeah.
Full leather interior. This could just be perfect.
I don't know too much about all the different C-Class and the w202. So this one's a see 240 sport.
I'm sure. Ed knows a little bit more.
I think there was a bigger six-cylinder than this one is already talking about, Scott talked about all these different engines in these w202. I had a lot of engines in the
2002. Let's run through them, shall
we? The c180 place can going up to
the c200, then you had, I think a seat.
To 20, then. He had a C250 diesel there.
He had a c 320. I think I think I know what I
mean. See to 40 and see 280.
This is a 24 together to 80 the biggest engine they ever did was like the c36 AMG or something and the 43 live on in the 43.
Sorry, c43, God. That's a lot of engines now,
heaps. Hmm.
So I picked this one because it's a nice straight six so it will be nice and smooth. And again, that's just something
that I'd like to take out now to go and go and drives with all you guys as well. Bring out your mercs.
Fourth pick is so I can join the hundred club and hang out with David and hang out with Edwards. Wow, his 2008, Honda Civic
type-r. I didn't realize is that these
type eyes were so cheap, so this one's 11th.
I've assumed because it's not the best looking ones.
Like no one was really a huge fan of them, I think, but I've never owned a Type R. And I'd love to own something
with that motor in it. Yeah.
Because I reckon, it'll be a hell of a lot of fun.
Distinctive, is the the word fee, styling?
Ugly? Eventually the I think I look
better now than they did with no new.
Actually I agree. I can I can I've grown to
appreciate them more but I do well.
Remember driving when window and you and thinking?
Yep. No, this isn't for me, but with
more me than the car, I think so.
I thought you know, it's about as close as I can get to getting into like a typewriter and I was looking at some other Honda's smoke. So, I could join the Honda club,
and I thought, you know, I've never owned one of these high-revving, Great Tech Motors, and that would be a good starting point for that price. Absolutely, not really cool car.
So, so how much did your zealots?
So, with your, with your, I just went with the ISF and that it would come under 100, but if I went with out have to cut something out. Out if I went with, the AMG
comes in 102. So I just wanted to try that one
because I thought, well, we already just saw rice F.
So, yeah, that was another thing I was looking at the time was that You could probably crunch, you could probably save a couple here on a couple of them, so I'm sure I could all right.
Now, now that we've seen, everybody's lot of cars whose was the most surprising? Who's was the one that you'd
actually you'd say? Oh I would have that open mind.
Or would you take your own Scotty?
What would you do? Patrick's S15 was very Aim.
Yeah, that looks absolutely fantastic.
I'd be pretty tempted to probably go with that S15 and knock out the evo 8. Hmm, I think I agree with you
think around the price? I'd be able to do.
Yeah, pretty much be able to just wait straight swap so that would work. mark, Probably out of the budget.
But I won't be tempted to swap and I see if for a Nori Pleasant and nice cars. They're very nice cause I'm I've
got they got wider arches and their fat looking car.
So, like they always always had a soft spot for me.
Especially in that blue. They came in that blue, they
were gorgeous. Oh yeah, that was nice.
Would you have your own, or would you, or would you swap out and then get the ice F? You have to pull out the top at
a couple cars. Yeah.
Yeah. I could probably get rid of the
Orion and the 86 for that. Yeah.
Mr. Prince William, the risk is jumping on the Lexus bandwagon,
I keep forgetting bad I accepted.
Oh, yes, it's but they're stunning beauty kit.
I do love. The Toyota reliability, sort of
sleeper sort of concept of them and they do sound incredibly good. So, if I knocked out the Civic
Type R, then, give me give me room to buy something else too.
Then, I was sipping tea, and is f, and then something else as well. Also, when you go back to the
fun part, we get to search. Yeah.
That's right. Actually, you could almost
probably grab a Accord Euro Type R as well or forgot about those.
Yeah, I was looking at them when I was looking at my cord and I was like, you were blue 1499 in Sydney.
I did find that. So you could probably that could
satisfy the type. I reach as well and you'd still
have the Lexus and the Trapper. I think that would be a nice
combo those two together. Absolutely.
Bunting. I liked yours many.
Yeah, yeah much as I like mine. I think you know it's also like
yours. I might swap over to your
cousin. Eric who is that lovely?
Silver Accord your luxury that got me.
Hmm, tip me over the edge. No, I've always liked those at
those early. Seal nines.
I believe the code is on them. They're always, they drove
really well. And there was solid.
And they felt like a good car to drive.
And I know the first time I drove one, I was like, even though that was the way I ended up buying, but it was an automatic and like, even as an order, it was okay.
But dynamically wise, it was fantastic to drive like it and it felt it felt so solid. I hadn't been in a Japanese car
to that point out, felt that solid.
And and I have a special from that era because I've been a lot of Mazda 6 has and, and stuff from that from that around, and the Mazda6 is a really good handling.
Fun car to drive, but I just think in terms of solidity the, the Honda Honda was just a much nicer car and is not as nice as a nicer place to be as well. There was just finished that
little bit nicer and, and the materials were nicer.
And I'm not tuning Honda's horn here but that they'll was for me, I mean, that you're of Honda, for me was like prime prime, like, wonder if that was that when they were just killing the game and you still see and the proofs in the pudding, how many of these do you still see on the road?
I still see tangible. Mmm, absolutely.
Yeah. The value of them's going up all
the time for good one, I was amazed the prices of some of them. I was having with them last
night. My son has one that's done.
Nearly 300,000 cases in an auto and it's so lovely.
And my son-in-law today, Sean, if you're listening on the other side of the world, he keeps sending me photos.
At the, the menu wagon is that they because that wagon version was sold in the UK, and that, that would be a great.
To have. Yeah, it's definitely unique
because I've only ever seen one in person and it was a day of the Wreckers Edward, I think, when we were there, but marked because I'm because I don't know.
I'm asking you these questions because like his obviously New Zealand, you guys got like a much crazier range and we did you ever get the Accord Euro wagons from Factory there?
Or did you or did you what they All Imports?
I don't think I got the factory but it was a few, Your Wagon Imports around. You definitely got the euro is
okay. We've only just started getting
them in the last 12 months since the rig's change, the rates are a bit more slack than that you getting pretty quickly.
Yeah. Yep.
I'm not but I've I would always like to get another record year.
I think I think a manual Euro would be manual Euro luxury cl9 like? Yeah.
Either the update, all the other preface of to doesn't bother me.
I would happily have in my, as my daily driver for a very long time, Wheels on the update suit, them better than the 16s on the earlier models. The preface that cars basically.
Yeah, but you can also get an optional 17 right on the pre-facelift multi-spoke ones because that's the way I was standing on the update. Okay?
I've always been a staunch pant. A fan of those.
Patrick. I'll probably take off I'll
probably buy your lace on top of my cars, ready?
Yeah. I Love Takes realizes and yeah.
All right. So you definitely picking up my
picks for this collection was the jt4.
I think the GTA 4 was pretty epic.
That was a damn cool pick. Yours. 15.
Patrick was stunning. Like, it was a very nice
example. I even like that.
On the factory wheels. But they were like Shadow
painting like colored, like they're a little bit darker than what they should have been, but that she looks actually quite wild match them with the with the rest of the car.
What about so what was just going to say quickly add at 39 Grand? The reason why I didn't go for
Skyline is because for 39 Grand, I could get an R34 GT-R.
Auto four-door 39 G. What a ripoff?
What a ripoff. Yeah.
Skyline's a dull, not non-turbo and what's turbo But Otto and floral. Yeah, not the one getting angry
and the ACT is pretty cool. I'm all I've got a soft spot for
an active mr. Prince, I think I went to push
came to shove. I wouldn't book at spending 27.
Grand on one when I'm half that, you can actually get a pretty cool 96 model but still got the 660 cc engine.
Yeah, I think that's just extortion.
What they're actually asking because lo que se or you could spend six grand less and get. It takes three turbo, four wheel
drive. I could take that riding its
four-wheel drive. So yes it is.
Cuckoo collection because I like doing these challenges because I like to see how you guys think and see and see what cars you would come up with and and you know it's really interesting to kind of get a grasp of what's out there and you're like oh like like a GT4 I didn't think of even looking at a GT4 because I because with last one, with the gd4 is they were like, ridiculously expensive. I was like DNR but at 40 Grand,
it's bit more of a bit, more of a proposition there, so so yeah.
Nice. Nicely done.

the Civic hatch so that is that's why they built it there.
Okay. That's according to how do I
find that hard to believe because they did other Hunters other we're in other places, right?
Like they did the other Civics in Thailand.
I think didn't a or well the the AP 35, do that we got here, which probably wasn't a PS3, but that shape with bone made Japan may be the only place the 3 door hatch was made, okay?
Well I, when I was researching it, is that the only thing that was like inverted commas. The only place but I'm assuming
