I expect it's a little bit better than what we've had, let's just put it that way. It's just been miserable and

it's it hasn't even been like consistent rain.

Like I'd, I'd rather it rain all day and then have a next day dry then just like, you know, just rain, stop, rain, stop, rain stop for like, you know, two days on end, which is.

Just it's not too much to ask, surely?

Weather update. How are you guys going?

How's things been? Pretty good at the moment, just

plugging along with work and yeah, not much car stuff, but then there's not much you could do in winter really.

It's just it's too cold to really get out there and do do anything with it or or wash it because you know it's just going to get dirty again. And in a in a new estate with

trucks and that non stop on those roads, there's just there's really no point with all this flashback and everything.

You got a cop? It's like a rally cross stage

just to actually get to the to the yeah.

Yeah, Yep, it is absolutely fog, Fog this morning.

You have fog down, you're in there.

David, it was really foggy. Yeah, yeah.

A lot of people without headlights on though.

I was amazed. OK.

So they like to anticipate their way of dying, so they'll just not put on any lights. David Prince, How are you doing,

mate? Doing pretty well.

Doing pretty well, Busy with work, busy running around after doing bits and pieces for people and stuff.

That's what we do, isn't it? So we just bite off more than we

can chew and chew like mad. That's it, just chew until chew

like the the miserable rib eye that Scotty bought that we're discussing pre show. Yeah, I thought it was nice and

tender and soft, but it was microwaved quite.

updates here, Alan Deep Singh. There's some big, some big

movements in the deep Sing, you know, car fleet, I would say.

Yes. All right, Well, if everyone's

ready. Strap yourselves in, boys, strap

Jays feel the Jays. I think the the seed was sown

last Tuesday night, wasn't it? Yes, it was.

So there was a discussion of a a white Honda Jazz 2015 with the IV tech that Mister Bunting was trying to make a sale of.

I wouldn't say flog yet, but he had acquired it.

The specs seemed pretty good on it and, you know, he had just gotten ready for sale and gotten it up.

I think he hadn't had too many bites as of the moment.

And you know, once he said Pearl white, I thought, I'm pretty sure my mom's already said something about wanting a Honda Jazz. I was like, bring it in it, you

know, let's have a look. Tick some.

Boxes. Yeah, definitely tick some

boxes. So on David's great advice, we

took it off air. You know, as much as we try and

wanted to do some shrewd negotiation on air, we took it off here. So Ed came by on Saturday and he

took me for a test drive of the Jazz, and it was a lovely little car. You know, everything was great

on it. Like, it wasn't going to be any

blistering performance, but I think this is one of my first experiencing experiences running good CVT.

It was nice. Yeah, like.

Improved. They've improved with each

model. Yeah.

So this one like kept a nice, it had a nice little, I wouldn't call it jumpy, but a kind of springy start.

So it was, you know, you could get into traffic quickly.

You weren't worried about that. And then it was like, you know,

holding like a good power band. It wasn't moving too high as

you're accelerating, that sort of thing.

So quite good there, you know, quite nimble obviously, and just a good amount of features. I think it's a 2015.

So it's got like cameras and stuff and Bluetooth, which mums really care about the Bluetooth, but she does appreciate cameras.

She's a little concerned about having a prank in the parking lot, which to which I thought, you know, you've got insurance, who cares? Like yes, don't get into a

prank, but worst case scenario we'll fill out some information.

You know, it's not a big deal. So, you know, I quite like the

car. Then I had to obviously offer a

trade in to Ed with the MX5, which I've been trying to actually flog. So Ed took that for a ride.

I think he hasn't driven. He hadn't driven it before this

point in time. And coming from his experience,

from his NAI, think it's actually surprisingly more powerful, or you know, a little more talkie at least than the DNA DNA is. So he enjoyed it quite a bit.

In terms of driving, I think he had a single complaint.

So he was very happy with it. But obviously Ed is a much more

shrewd negotiator than I am. Oh, I don't know about that.

You really you reckon I I hustled it.

I. Think you're a bit of a hustler?

Oh my God, no. It was a compliment.

It was a compliment. No, I appreciate it.

I appreciate it. I because obviously I'm

conscious of the idea that if I'm going to privately sell it, I'll have to put a bit more work into the car, that sort of thing. And then obviously you have to

deal with a number of people coming and going, humming and narrowing, that sort of thing. And due to the nature of the MX5

being the MX Live, I'm probably going to attract a bit of a crowd that, you know, I wouldn't necessarily consider to be desirable, at least around my part of town.

David, I'm just saying. OK.

Yeah, yeah. This side of town.

Yeah, I love them. Yeah.

So, you know, whereas if I do a deal with Ed, you know, I give him the car as it is, you know, he's an LMCT, he deals with it, which I'm not trying to give him a lemon or anything, but I presented the car as it is. Whereas he's he's brought this

Jazz in Immaculate condition. It's all cleaned.

You know, I think there's a couple of minor paint repairs, that sort of stuff. He's taking care of all that

road where they ready to go. Whereas, you know, I'm just like

he is my mix 5 as is Sir. Which takes a look at it.

It's falling apart. Wheel missing.

I've taken the old, the new soft top off, put the old work back on. But yeah, so we, we, we came to

a changeover figure, which I I'll keep that with me for now in case Ed wants to keep it on the download.

But again, obviously I'm conscious of the fact that Ed's not running a charity. He obviously needs to make money

also. It's not worth doing his doing

this whole thing. It's not worth his time.

And the convenience factor is just amazing.

Comes all the way from his end of town to my house.

Show me the car, Take the car away.

You know, I'm like, it's, it's worth it.

I think I got a very good deal. I think today my parents were

driving it and they're like, yeah, you got a really good deal with this car. And I'm like, oh, good, I'm

happy, I'm happy. My mum still hasn't taken it for

a drive, which I'm a bit disappointed about.

She's like, I'll drive it when I have to.

I'm like, how about you drive it now?

So you have to, You'll be a little more accustomed to it.

So I'll probably wait for a day with some better weather and take her out for a drive. I think she's a little more

antsy about driving with my dad in the car because of old learner experiences. So yeah, they they both love the

car. Like I think they were taking

the D Max to go shopping, which it's not exactly the best shopping centre car park car, but I do it.

But I'm a manly man, so it doesn't matter.

You're like, where's Friday? Yeah, a real man.

Where Whereas they're both in their 60s, So you know, this is outrageous. Look, it's them that say they're

old and not me. I don't say they're old.

I don't want them to be old, but you know, they they feel they are old these tastes. So they they definitely like the

like the the jazz. I think it's a little bit lower

than the SX4 used to sit in terms of seat type.

So there are lowering themselves just a little bit, but it's still very, very minor. Like they they I made them get

in the MX5 a few times. They didn't appreciate.

It's interesting because the SX4 must have been pretty high then, because the S has got a very high hit point.

Yeah. And they that's one one of the

reason why, you know, they're popular with older people because they are so easy to get in and out of.

But you know, the SX4 had that little thing up its sleeve, little trick up its sleeve. Yeah, all the tricks it didn't

have, it did have that one. Yeah.

So they're pretty happy with this so far.

And I'm, I'm pretty happy. Like I wanted to move the MX5

along because, you know, I wasn't trying to get a terrible amount. And because of that I was

driving the STI basically not at all.

So now I can have the STI as my weekend focus car and then have the the DMX as my daily for now, you know, I'll work a little, work a little bit more and maybe look at getting something else.

But for now, the the money I had in the the MX5 and then the little bit of money I've earned so far working all of that has gone to get in the Honda. So I'm like, see, Ma, I bought

you a car. But yeah, a pretty good weekend,

a pretty fruitful weekend. Hopefully Ed will say the same.

I think he should. Obviously I've like the way he

wants to present the MX Live. I think it's going to take him a

little bit of work. But assuming he does all the

things, I think you'll get a pretty good return out and I'm very hopeful. Yeah, the other thing too is, I

mean, I chatted to him briefly about it because he's we're going to fit the blood box up probably tomorrow night.

But but I said you're probably better to hang on to it, give yourself a couple of months and then try.

And you know, now's really not the time.

People are going look good looking at convertibles.

But, you know, come to the first decent weather in spring, you know, give it sort of late August, early September.

People are thinking, wow, you know, the weather's really nice.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a convertible?

It's not. That's what I say.

Yeah, Yeah. Well, it's not in front of front

of people's mind when it's three degrees in the morning and it's just. That's the, the only time that

that's fun when it's three degrees in the morning is when you've got a mate in the car that's completely shivering and you're like, what's this, The roof goes down, take them freeze. Well, I, I, I said that I'm

like, if you like this one, keep this one and then sell your NA and then you make a good chunk of change.

But I think he's more attached to the NA so.

I think he's, yeah. Well, Miss is that cars aren't

really going for a lot at the moment.

No. But I just saw on marketplace

there's two NA's for sale, one's 12 grand and the other one's eight. That's.

Cheap. It's cheap for an NA.

I'm seeing one under 10 for a long time.

I wasn't saying dash is cracked which is common.

The stuff top has a couple of tears but still runs and drives.

Yeah, because I was taking it through all the, the, the things I did with the MX5 and I was like, well, windscreen's new radiator's new soft hop is new. I actually gave him a box full

of parts, including some new stuff that I still haven't fitted. So yeah, I think he'll, he'll

have that cleaned up. I I do agree with your idea,

David, that you should hang on to it for a little bit, which I understand. He's, he's always trying to move

cars along. So it might not be ideal for

him. But if he does, I think like you

said, you might be able to get a better return.

I think it will, yeah. And.

He's got a little bit more time to, I guess, do those improvements that he wants without rushing them.

That's right. So, you know, hopefully Ed's,

Ed's enjoyed his purchase and you know, we won't hear from him next week saying, you know, Mr Cinch has, you know, phoned me, to which I'll say, I'll say you're the LMCT and I'm the customer, just a layperson, you know.

So who's the real victim here? You're the one that gets to

leave Google reviews. He doesn't get to leave.

It's on you. Yeah, but again, like I it's,

you know, a very honest man. We we a good friend at this

point. Happy to have him on the

debatable. You know, it's a friendly

individual. All right, that we'll leave it

there that, but I don't want, I think from what I can do, you know, scene of Ed, which is at this point many years of Ed, it doesn't seem like he's trying to pull one on me and I'd certainly don't want to pull one over on him.

So, you know, that's that's the best way I'd like to do business. Stay friends.

But that being said, if he if he comes back next week, I'm not coming. If he's angry, David, you let me

know and I'll I'll, I'll skip the podcast.

So that's your updates. Oh, I'm conscious of time just a

little bit more. I took the the DMX for its

final. Its service finally rocked up at

I think I rocked up at like 7:10 and they finally got me in at like 725. They were just like godly

ungodly slow with just how they will get people in and there's only like 4 people in front of me I think.

And it's just like so much I'm like, just give me take the keys, take a box and just take a photo and then, you know, get the car in which still that's fine.

I got to work a little late. I told the boss, man, I'd be in

late. It's when I was at work.

I get a little message saying, Hey, we need to authorise some some service recommendations. I'm like, what do you mean?

Also, it's a cap price service. Just do the service.

I look at it, they want a air conditioning sanitation $110.00.

So I'm like, so you're going to take out the Philtre and maybe run one of those Maguires air conditioning system cleaners.

Like I'm not paying $100 for that diesel fuel additive, the one that you can most likely get from your local auto parts store for 20 something. They wanted $70.00 for that.

And then they had the goal to say two of my tyres were in urgent need of replacement because the very outer tread, the very outer tread on one of them was 1.72 million.

So not the actual tread tax that you measure for, you know, legal purposes. The the outer ones, which I

showed to two guys there that were tyre fitters at work.

I'm like, hey, does this seem accurate to you?

You're like, no, that's like like, yes, these tyres are on their way out and you'll eventually need to replace them, but these aren't urgently in need a replacement.

The actual tread depth in the the main tracks was like 4.7 or

something. So plenty of tread and I just, I

declined all those. They wanted $950 for two tyres

fitted. Oh yeah, no.

Yeah, it sounds about right. Yeah, so they, they made a

little like itemised list and they're like total cost $1100.

I'm like decline, just just do my service and you know, send me all my way you'd. Be amazed how many, I mean, cap

price servicing, they don't make a lot of money, obviously.

I mean not it's not cap price, cap, cap price servicing.

You know, the, the, the, everyone knows what it's going to cost upfront. So they, they, they, it's in

their interest to do it because a lot of people say, yeah, OK, we'll do that, you know, and, and none of it's necessarily none of it's over service. Well, none of it's really over

servicing. I mean, they're all things that

some people would think. Oh, OK, well, you know, what's

the benefit of doing that sort of thing?

I actually had the air con service last when I had the caddy done because the the old one that it is, well, it after over time, the there's a really funky smell if coming from the air conditioning when the air conditioning turns on.

Yeah. And, and and it was good.

It lasted probably six or eight months, I suppose.

I've noticed it's just starting to come back and it's probably due for service at Christmas time sort of a thing.

So yeah. But yeah, I tried it myself.

I tried to few things myself and I couldn't get it.

So whatever they did was I thought we'll see how good it was. But yeah, I mean there, there,

there's obviously profit margin and all those things for them.

So I mean, they've got to try, they've got to.

Yeah, they've got to try. And for, for me, I'm like, look,

the car's less than two years old.

The, the air conditioning smells fine, at least I, I might change the cabin philtre depending on how I feel.

Yeah, the, the fuel additive, the diesel additive, I'm like, at best they're using a liquid Molly or something of that nature. Again, I don't feel like paying,

you know, that that kind of markup.

The tyres kind of got me. I was just like, look, the tyres

are 28,000 KS. I definitely don't drive like a

Hoon and I don't tow. And I know they're, you know,

the kind of skewed tyres, I guess you'd call them.

But I don't think they'd be completely urgently needing replacement at 28,000 unless they've been doing burnouts.

Well, it's been for a service, you know.

So that's all my updates. Yeah, Sorry for taking

everyone's time. No, I don't be sorry at all.

I still have my N1 in my garage and I'm still waiting parts from Japan which meant to have arrived today but the tracking tells me they're in Marrickville in Sydney so I'm guessing they won't arrive today yet. We'll see how quickly FedEx can

get them down. And I what else did I do?

Oh actually I drove few of the cars on the weekend because I on Sunday I did a dad drive or a drive against Depression which is a charity. Based around men's mental or not

just men's mental health, mental health and getting in your car, going for drive, which is good for a lot of people's mental health. We had a mental health, we had a

dead Spotify playlist that people could add to and I had a great drive up through starting in Croydon, up through Gembrook, up Warburton Highway and then up through through Gembrook.

Stopped to Gembrook for a while and then ended up at Young Timer Garage YTG down in Keysborough, which is a real top end sort of luxury car playroom. Actually it was pretty pretty

cool. There's a gold W.

Is it AW 2 Commodore, the VFW H no WW?

One WW1 W one, yeah, that is a gold wrecker, yeah.

Yeah, it had the double it had. Yeah, WW1.

I should have known that. I thought, oh, Commodore,

amongst all the Maseratis and Ferraris and Porsches, that's pretty cool. Yeah, $600,000 it was, had 50

kilometres on the clock. Yep.

So yeah, there's a few few nice little bits and pieces there.

But I because I didn't have the N1 registered yet, I actually went with Andrew Ribblesworth, who's a friend of the show and the leading Magda man in Australia at the moment, I think. But he is.

And we took his TM Elite, so an 85 early carburetor car that he picked up, oh, probably six or eight months ago now.

And we took that for a drive. And now I've realised during the

drive, it's actually 439 years since I last drove ATM Magna.

So I drove with a brand new and took one for a test drive.

A friend was working at Mitsubishi at the time and yeah, I haven't driven to TM since. So it's quite a while between

drinks, isn't it, when you put it that way.

But it, you know, a lot of the people on the, there were a couple of Mustangs and a couple of, you know, GI Yaris's and things like that on the drive. There were about 40 cars

altogether. So it was quite an eclectic

selection. But I'm pretty sad to say we

were the only Magna on the on the drive.

David, I was going to ask you, how did you manage to drive it 39 years ago when you're only 21, eight years of age?

I. Know.

I know. It's surprising, isn't it?

It's surprising, yeah. Yeah, I was still on P plates.

P plates. Yeah, totally.

Kind of weird time paradox or something happened on it, yeah.

Yeah, well, I suppose I wouldn't.

If you'd have told me then I'd drive by nearly 40 years, you know, in Immaculate condition. Again, I I might not have

believed it, but yet they're still going.

So and then we came back, he had to drop me home because he picked me up. So I took him for a little blurt

in the in one because I had to move that so he could drive the scam because he'd always wanted to drive the scam.

So he took the red scam for a little drive.

Didn't immediately make friends with the gearbox.

We know how the non synchro gearbox and that funny shift from 3rd to 2nd can be a little problematic until you're used to it. But the more he drove it, the

less it crunched and the more he enjoyed it.

So but yeah, but Andrew's about, oh is he?

Was he be 6364? Be about that.

He's a big. Short Short boy still had

headroom in the scam but when he was in the passenger seat it was very funny. I've never had anyone be able to

close the blood box with their knees before, so it was folded up a bit like a prison. But yeah, so that was good.

He got to experience one of my cars and I got to experience one of his, so that's awesome. It was a great weekend.

Absolutely, Scotty Doe. I don't really have anything

actually all I did was in the chat.

I asked should I wash my car? So I gave it a little wash.

I didn't hose it down. I just wanted to get rid of some

of the grime that builds up around it and just so I could see out the windows, really. So I did that and then went

inside and then it started raining again.

So it's like perfect timing. It's, it's winter coat, Scotty.

It's it's winter coat, Yeah. It is.

I guess what I'm going to do eventually is fix that little the crack and that that happened.

On the on the side. Skirt I should be able to do it.

I SYCA flexed it on for now and then I'll use some wax and grease remover, clean off the rest of the of the syca flex on there and then probably just use a bit of Bondo on there, stand it and then paint over it. And to paint over it I got to

buy 2. It has like an undercoat and

then the top. So.

For for that one just. Make sure you keep the repair as

small as you can. Oh yeah, it'll be tiny.

Most of it you won't even see. It's gonna be underneath.

Yeah, yeah, there's. One crack that you're gonna see

and it's probably about, you know, maybe 5 centimetres long.

OK, a long. Crack.

You're not gonna see much of that, but then yeah, the rest of it is pretty much in line and kind of underneath.

So you'd have to come right up and be like staring at it once I've finished if you want to, if you wanted to notice it.

Other than that, there's no way you're going to notice it.

It's pretty if. You can, if you can get to the

point where you wouldn't notice if you didn't know it was there.

That's that's sort of the best point to aim for, I reckon.

You'll always know where to look, and you'll always be able to. Of course, yeah.

I think once I clean off most of that, SIGAFLEX will look a bit better. Yeah.

I kind of made sure I put quite a bit on because I wanted it stuck there and I know I can get it off.

It's not that hard to get off. You can use a bit of metho on

that and starts to come off and break away.

And if I need to, you can get just a little blade and just lightly scrape off some I need to.

So I've done that before. So that should be no dramas

there. Other than that, it's it's been

happily plodding along doing its thing.

I don't know that it's even a thing that you measure, but what's the economy like out of that?

It's not too bad I'd say. The fuel tank is probably only

like 50 something litres smaller than Subaru that's for sure.

And I can get probably if I ran it all the way down, it'd be close to 450 KS. OK, it's not too bad I.

Have a tank so and that's not like I'm not babing it and just barely driving it or anything. It's a few squirts here and

there just yeah, and just some normal 100 kilometre an hour using and things like that. So yeah, for for a small car and

you know, with a big engine in the front and yeah, the fuel tank's not that, not that big in this thing.

When I was filling it up, it cut off quicker than I thought.

So I think it's only 50 something litres, but the the range that it tells you the distance counting down very accurate. OK, really.

Good. Really, really accurate.

So I'm pretty happy with that one.

It's not like I guess in Ash's car in the Insight, it changes and fluctuates massively all the time.

You'll fill up hers and we'll say like, you know, 600 KS or something. Then you start driving, it'll

drop down to 400 and then you start cruising a bit and it'll jump up to 500 and it's just all over the place.

Yeah, mine. You can sit there and thrash it.

It'll it'll let you know. It doesn't fluctuate or anything

like that. Once it goes down, it goes down.

It doesn't go back up the range. Yeah, it won't go back up.

I mean, that's still good that it's, it's reliable, at least I don't know the D Max because I park it, I guess facing up because of the driveway incline. It thinks it's got more fuel

once you start up and then it quickly drops.

And especially if you're low on the tank, it'll just be like, I've got fuel and it's like, no, no, you need to get to a fuel pump within like 20 minutes, please.

And like, what do you do? The the E gas used to be really

funny. Occasionally when you're really

low on gas, the the fuel gauge would just flick up to full and then the range would be like, Oh yeah, you got, you know, 600 KS mate, don't worry about it. You're.

All good mate, you're all good. Keep like we did that kind of

all, like oh I appreciate it. And then within like 5 minutes

of driving it's back down. It's like beep, beep, beep.

We need to get to the pump now. Just thinking, thank you for

your fairy. Yeah, that's, that's my, that's

Don't know if I told you sold the white disco.

You did, yeah. The blue ones currently going

into the ground because I haven't touched it in that long.

So I. Thought going in the ground, as

in it's just rusting away. It's probably going to start

rusting soon. I haven't touched it in that

long. It's not funny.

I swear. If I go back to go pop the door,

that's the only thing that's going to be left, but the rest is just going to disintegrate. I popped the tyre on the M3O.

I was on the way to work and that was a nightmare of a day so I needed to get 2 new tyres for the rear but apart from that that's that's really about it. I haven't done anything.

Now I remember I my brother was up was wanting to buy one a few years ago. It was like a daily runabout and

we drove it. I'm like, this is really kind of

disappointing. And he went and bought a

Forester and he didn't look back.

But yeah, that car was a was a bit was a bit doughy and I was like, this was supposed to be the the GTGTIS are supposed to be quite hot and fun and fast and everyone kind of that knows Gtis know that that's the one you don't you don't want, which is a shame because I actually think the the market for is a good looking car. So I put it up to you guys.

What are some good, what are some disappointing versions of or you know, of the sports inverter commas edition of certain cars and why were they disappointing?

So. The sportsgirl Barina, does that

come into it? It's got sports in the name.

Sports in the name. It's more a sticker pack, Mr

Prince, But yeah, it could be disappointing.

They tried no. They tried.

They tried, I mean. I think compared to the regular

one, it was exactly pretty much. I was gonna say literally any M

Sport, any M Sport, like the the the way that this M badge goes on anything these days and everything and that all that ends up being is a a body kit and maybe a bit of a bit more of a tune. Usually just maybe suspension.

Yeah. Maybe just some springs.

Come on, you have fancy silk silk covers too.

Like when you have door it says M Sport.

Come on, don't forget the little M badge on the back as well.

On the back, yeah. No, but like anything that's got

that M, like M Sport on it, it's just like such a waste to just call it what it is. It's not even an M It's it's

just called the sport model. Yeah, absolutely.

And it's and it's it's something with AMG and same thing with, you know, these other companies, they're washing down their brand, to be honest with you S. Wine and yeah, yeah.

You've certainly got to mention AMG in the same.

Absolutely. They'll do an AMG pack on pretty

much anything now. No, I understand it gets some

money but still like don't, don't make your top of the line models the M series and call it something else.

So I think there's JS. I think there should be clear

distinctions between anything AMG badged or anything M badged to like what's yeah, what's just a standard brand.

You can have like a, you can have a, you can have a, you know, 330I sport, which is like, you know, like a sporty edition.

But don't call it, don't put it in impact because it's just sounds ridiculous. It washes down the brand.

To me it's call it what it used to be called.

So you go back to like the A 53, like that era, which is also the E30 Nines and the E40 sixes. They weren't called M sports,

they were called individuals. So it was you get to choose what

you want on it, and that would then be classified as an individual. Oh, lucky Mr Butting's not here.

Take you to task on that I think.

Oh, that's the way that I've said I I don't believe that M Sport badge should be on anything.

Call it an individual. Same as like even Holden.

Holden was called the HPD. You hold them by design.

You choose what you want on it. Yeah, but like they also did, I

think what you're probably more referring to is like A318IS, which had, you know, you, you trick rediff and, you know, a bit more power and better suspension.

And, you know, that was like the sportier version of the of, you know, the they're already kind of like a little, little car.

So I think, I think, yeah, I think badging, you know, because people are like, oh, what's an M?

And then you hop in and like, so she doesn't go that well.

Or this actually actually kind of disappointing.

I thought it, you know, I thought M cars were supposed to be good in it. It tarnishes your brand.

Like it washes them down. So yeah, I think definitely

that's that's one for me that that I do not agree with at all.

I think just yeah, you're anything with an AMG badge that's an AMG pack or an AMG, you know, sorry or an or an impact. Audi do it to the S.

Line absolutely. S lines and and yeah.

But a little bit better. I think Audi's a little bit

better because you've got Rs and then.

S yeah, like they've done it that little bit better.

I'm definitely not going to say no to that.

You're right, because they've at least tried to distinguish it a bit more. But still, like you still got

that S line and you know the M pack and it's like really just call it something completely different.

Can I just say I'm sick of car companies, you know, doing this.

They they all follow each other's suit.

It's you know, we're going to have an R line RK.

So we'll have an St line or we have an N line.

I'm like, it's to denote they're they're like they're just under their sport models. I'm like, why do they all copy

what they are like they're all sheep.

And it just it, it pisses me off because it really like, you know, I saw, I saw a guy came in a super cheap actually, and he had an I30I30 in line and, and we'll I'm like, oh, you know, nice car. He's like, yeah, man.

He's like, I love this car. And we got, we got talking about

it and he's like, yeah, look, it's pretty quick.

You know, it's for what it is. But and I'm like, oh, I'm like,

so you know, would you buy it? Would you buy it?

And he's like, oh, this is close enough, isn't it?

I'm like, Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

That's why, that's why, that's why they sell, because you know, people get it. It's it's like a suggestion or a

whiff of the, you know, of the, of the top sportier line.

Yeah, in in the line's classic, just just like you were saying, Adrian, the S line, you know, it's it's wheels are an inch wider, inch bigger in diameter. And there's a bit of quilted

leather instead of pluck flat leather.

And you know. Yeah, it's just, I guess there

is two ways to look at it too. Like, like you were just saying

that the people who buy them are like, oh, it's close enough without actually spending the money.

I get that. But the people who go and spend

the money, it, it tarnishes the name.

It actually look like, oh OK, it's just another car.

And like, unless you know, unless you know, you know, right, like and people are put the AMG badges and and stuff on on standard, like C200 things. OK, OK, we all know where we

stand on that on that. But quite often it's like it's

like, is that a CCC three or is it a, or is it AC 300?

You know, unless you really know about looking at the pump guards different body kit, you wouldn't really tell because they they look quite quite similar these days.

Until they take off. Yeah, until they take off,

correct. So like, it, it just it, it what

was the mind? Because like, like I remember, I

remember back in, in, in the 2000s and you know, like I was just, I know it's going to be like, well, here we go.

He's using foreign example. But it, but it was like you had

your F yeah, your FPV's which were like your, you know, your, your, your high performance models.

Then you had your like your sports models with Jizzy XRS and then you had your like your standard, you standard like your luxury, you know? But it's it's all.

It's all named. Differently named differently.

a, you know, it's an FPV pack. Like, no, it's not.

It's it it it it, it just isn't like it.

It doesn't tarnish your name. It seems like again, it's, it's

to confuse the, the layperson and to be like, Oh yeah, no, he's got, he's got the FPV, right, Which doesn't exist, obviously, but it's, he's got the, he's got a BM WM3 or something, right. And then it's not, you know, but

the layperson might think it. And again, you're kind of making

a fool of anyone who's actually, you know, not knowledgeable, whereas the person who knows, they know that you're being an idiot. It's just, I don't know who

you're trying to it's it's basically like the person buys like AC200 because they want to buy Mercedes.

So buy, you know, the crap one. But then this is one step

further like, well, I want an AMG.

So you get a couple of, you know, AMG badging and stuff and then and just do the whole thing and it's like it's one step further, but you still. You.

Know you're having a laugh, let's just say, and we the car people don't appreciate that. What I think is cool talking

about this with with Hyundai and the M series is having the exclusive colour, like having Halo colour.

Yeah, yeah. So you know that that's actually

the real deal. And, and whether it's a Kona or

a Ionic 5 or a or AI30, if it's that colour, you know, it's the the the good one. Honda had a chance to do that

with the Type R because the Sonic Grey came out in the Type R and that was it. And then you could get it on the

on the base, you know, 1.8 ATI after a couple of months, you

know, I thought, well, that's a waste of, you know, you could have actually made a hero colour out of that sort of thing.

But yeah, I do. I do like the way that Hyundai

actually keep that colour for the the end cards.

And, and, and we've just been talking about, you know, M packs and AMG packs and how they're, they kind of tarnish the actual real AM GS and real, real M cars like the brand.

So that's kind of that's kind of where, where we're at currently.

And but in terms of in terms of models guys, so like I, I price, as I said, I put to you out the the mark for GTI because it was just, I remember when I drove it, I was like, it had Ricardo seats and then they were nice. But it was just like, it was a

bit of a, yeah, bit of like a kind of like a, like a nothing.

Yeah. It didn't have anything that it

looked like a standard Golf, except different wheels, quite literally. There was no body kit.

There was no nothing. The Recaro's were pretty much

the only other did giveaway besides the GTI badge.

And yeah, like it went OK, but it wasn't, it wasn't, yeah, completely, you know, astronomically fast.

So yes, that was a, that was a bit of a disappointment for me when I, when I, when I drove one.

wasn't, it was more of like a GT car, but you know, never really kind of, I guess how would you explain it, you know, as special as what people thought they tried to make it out to be.

that's a clear example of, you know, it looks good, the sport version of their, of their range, but not a not a great car, not not exactly good to drive either.

Did that finish with the XAXB? I think XB they what they did

the GS maybe they went to an XC, I'm not too sure.

OK, OK. They, they did bring it, they

did bring the GS back as like a midpoint between an XR8 and a GT later on in FPV. So they they, they did that at

at one point, but. I, I, as much as it pains me to

say I, I have to throw Honda into the mix too.

Because when Nigel was doing his best in the in the 80s in Formula One and Honda were winning everything they they they served up at Honda Australia saw fit to release the Grand Prix edition, of which I have one.

I love that car. It's a very, very cool little

car and it drives great. But of course they based it on

their base model, which didn't have a Taco.

So you have the Grand Prix edition with a body kit, It's got little 13 inch yellow wheels.

It's got a little numbered badge on the dashboard.

So it's got the Pioneer AMFM radio cassette, which wasn't standard in the base model, the left hand mirror, the rear, the rear wiper, the centre console and no Taco in the dashboard.

The one thing is like, look at my sports.

Small to some extent, with some of their scoop and wheels, and they're trying to think of a. Sports model that Toyota put out

like I'm struggling a bit. It was the Corolla spirit for a

while there. Corolla spirit, yeah.

Easy with the Corolla Sport again, it's really not much, Yeah. Sportivos were a bit different.

Corolla Sportivos were they were OK and yeah, like Sportivas.

The sport, the Sportivas were good.

The early Sportivas, the 1st, the 1st Sportivas that we got were Australian only. They were, they were the turbo

gold ones. They were all gold Australian

and quite literally they were fitted with a turbo kit here in Australia. They're all individually

numbered. But basically it was bolt this

turbo to, you know, a sporty looking Corolla with a body kit.

Don't do any suspension, don't do anything else.

So it went pretty well, but it didn't turn.

So so yeah, that's on my list of like a bit of a disappointing drive. But despite being being the the

sporty turbo charged model of of of the range.

yourself to be sporty, but they did put a spoiler on it, which I'm like, I feel like you're trying my.

My, my dad had had Holden Kingswood's for years and his boss had a Holden Premier like you know, that that was, that was the, he, he could choose any colour Kingswood he wanted, but he, he couldn't choose above it or below.

And then when the Commodore came out, he, he, we got AVB Commodore, but it was base model final seats, you know, just blue on blue. And, and yeah, it was, it was

the thing back then. But but the, the, the, the next

level up from him got the SL and then the MD got the SLE.

So yeah. It is definitely, definitely a

thing. Here's another one guys, what

about an Audi TT? The 1st generation looks really

cool, is a bit sporty but a bit, you know like from all accounts not the not the most fun to drive, like a bit of bit of a boring kind of car if that makes sense.

It was the common gear basically of its time.

Yeah, I would agree with that, but that is a that is a great way of looking at it. So it is quite literally the

common gear. Yeah, it, it was, you know,

yeah, this 1.8 turbo I think out of out of the Golf GTI or you or

you get it with the VR6 I believe later on and it's in it's live. I don't know if we got them

here, but I know we I know they did exist in the UK.

Yeah, just just a bit of a bit of a nothing car in terms of like really cool styling, like like the bare house styling was was really cool. And yeah, big, big fan of that.

And I I still see them. I'm like, oh, it's a cool

looking car. But yeah, not, not great in the

handling department and and wasn't wasn't there, wasn't the most yeah, best thing to drive. Didn't they lose something like

60 or 80% of its value as soon as you drive it out the showroom? That would not surprise me.

And I think also that they did have a problem with them at speed on the Autobahn trying to take off, didn't they?

Yeah, they did. So they, they put like a little

lip spoiler and it kind of, it kind of took away from the, from the, the aesthetically pleasing design that was that was there.

But Scotty, I, I found out what Sr means for, for your parents.

It means a sport redundant because it didn't have any sport. You know, sport parts.

Actually, now you say that, I reckon I can remember an advertisement that said Super responsive.

Super responsive was for Corollas and Toyotas.

They used to have the underneath the bottom.

They had Sr super responsive for like the steering and all that stuff. But yeah, suits.

I think, I think the fact that and you bring up a good player of like with that car, I think the fact is that they had the turbo engine there the whole time and they just didn't put it in the car and people was like, well, there's going to be a turbo version. They just did because like this

engine's been turboed in WRX. Where's the turbo version?

Surely they're bringing it out and they never and they never did. And I think that's what kind of

what people were disappointed with that because they're like, I imagine this with the turbo would have been, would have been so much better. So yeah, it's, it's interesting,

but it's also interesting because Mazda did turbo the MX5 in the NB generation and people were just like, Oh yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's quicker, but it's, it's takes away from the purity inverted commas of the, of the, of the MX5.

So I was like, like, no matter what you do, you're never going to make everybody happy. That being said, like a MX5 SE,

which is servers, they are they command a premium on sale time and they're more, you know, I'm not going to say they're more sought after, but like if you're looking at one and you haven't bought one at all and that one of them pops up for a good price, most people would actually go for that.

Just it's not that bad to have the extra power, you know, like the fact that they made, you know, aftermarket turbo kits for Amex lives so much anyway, like a lot of people just turbo them just at home, that sort of thing.

Like they they are. I feel like they maybe they

weren't appreciate as much at the time, but they definitely are like now. Whereas with the the BRZ,

they're like, I mean, we can't give you more power, but we'll give you ATS, you know, with the badging, you know?

The body kit. Yeah, the body kit and then then

some. They call it premium.

You know, we'll make you feel like you're getting something sportier than, you know, your already sports car.

the Forester XT that we had the the last time we touched Forrester was only available as a CVT and not available as a manual and was bitterly disappointed to drive because it just had no driver engagement. Whereas like the all the

previous ones, like you know, you could from your GTS, the other XTS that you could, you could get them as a manual.

So, so that was, that was a bit of a, a bit of a disappointment for the sporty version of the of that Forester.

They they did something similar with the the current WRX and they were the one that had like the extra dampening suspension.

Which is like, yeah. I test drive the one on one of

those was was Steph the the waggon TS top of the range and the suspension. Everything was great.

It was fantastic. It felt a bit underpowered, but

whatever. It didn't bother me, but I was

just like the reason why it felt it didn't feel great to drive was because because of the CVT. It just it just was not an

engaging car to drive. It was like, this is boring as

batshit. Like it was really it was.

It wasn't. It wasn't as it was actually

quite disappointing, to be fair. I mean, a lot of people don't

mind it. Like, yeah, it's fine.

But when in other markets you can get a manual waggon, why can't they just bring that here like that?
