Do you update some of you will be very pleased to know the DSG gearbox in my caddy is now making noises that it shouldn't make, so not surprising, but that's what five you oranges are for. So yes, I've been told I could

drive to the moon and back with the noise and they can fix the noise, so I don't have to take it straight in.

So I actually haven't booked in for between for when I'm off by taking a break over Christmas. So what did they say?

The noise is day. David, what is calling funny?

I was at another dealership today.

And the guy they had recently moved over from Audi and he's hurt me drive off. He said, oh you need you to AST

DSG clutches done. Did you realize that?

I said, I thought that was the case.

So it's makes doesn't do it every time but a lot of a lot of the time just moving off from a stop, it makes a sound just like a like a ceiling fan Bill sort of but then it does it again in leading you to second. Yeah, it doesn't when you move

often and it does it again when it moves into second.

Not every time as I said, but often enough that you think and I'll hang on a minute that's not right?

And how many kilometers on the said, vehicle David that would be thirty thousand eight hundred and fifty-four.

Wow. And for those people to those

listeners who may not know David very well, I would say the most sympathetic mechanical person I've ever wants examples of driving like thank God. You are not.

Well, The DSG. So it just proves everything we

talked about, you know, they, you do not want one out of warranty, but you shouldn't have to rely on that either, you know, it's no, no, that's that given that usage is requiring, that major sort of work at 30,000 cave.

I didn't go to the alpha show but it was a quite a nice day.

I did however work. So I not work, work like car

work. So I Foolish the HRV that I

bought. I might not have been on since I

bought that too. I've talked about these before

you know that first gen HRV. I like them to go good height,

good ground clearance low approach and departure angles quite hard, wearing quite robust in terms of Mechanicals and reasonably cheap. So I think they're and

economical to in these times of high prices.

I bought one of those 2001 three-door, manual base model three hundred and sixty five thousand kilometers drives.

Remarkably well, other than just, the suspension is a bit worn. You know, you can feel the

shocks in the bushes and stuff. It just need, you know, they

need replacing out of it. They would never have been done.

I don't think so. I won't be selling it with the

Roadie. It'll be going.

No Ridge, no Roadie. But it came with a full tank of

fuel and a couple of months of red, so I'm driving it around.

I thought I've got to get my fuels worth out of it.

McDonough comprise that the previous owners sold it with a full tank of fuel, I thought, wouldn't you at least use the fuel and then sell it? I think that's 100 bucks.

Fuel. So I was like, oh so I motoring

around in that and in taffeta white and at the same time I have that 01, Civic, hatch that I bought a few weeks back.

That's also another one also in taffeta white, so I kind of have the market sewn up for that as you're going into silver accessories. Falcons, isn't it?

So I have sold the Civic. To a previous client of mine,

whose car got stolen. The one that I sold him, the

The Moke. The infamous smoke has been at

My mechanic for the best part of no, two weeks, maybe nothing has happened on it until this week. He's come back Monday this week

and cracked on with the Moke. So he was fixing the oil leak

and even though I told him where the locknut was for the wheels, he asked me, where's the locked up?

For the wheels, you know, I thought, did you listen the first time? No.

Anyway, so located that so that says he's pulling wheels off which is hopefully doing the brake lines and bleeding the brakes, which means I can Drive him home, maybe later this week, empty of Lee, David knows who I'm talking about, but a friend of ours that does run a workshop, does Road were these?

I have booked at in for Thursday week because if I wait till it's done and then I try and book it in, it'll be another two weeks or he won't be able to do it to life Christmas.

I thought I'm just going to book the day and then we'll give the other mechanic a bit of pressure to get it done by that.

You're like a puppeteer like yeah.

I just thought I don't want to get to Friday in.

My first mechanic says come and pick it up and then and then second mechanic says or no modems hooked up to Christmas and that displeases me. So yeah, I think that's enough

time. That's a full week in a bit.

Who knows? I've been surprised before by

mechanics? What other car tidbits do I have

Don't think so, just spent Sunday, detailing the two white Honda's with my buffer and you know, cleansing interiors and David. Thank you came and helped with a

bit of that. And they the HRV, despite being

quite grotty and dulling. The paint's come up quite

nicely. Sure hands.

Yeah, recently, respectable seek lie on the inside, that that fabric, they used was very hard wearing and the passenger.

It was brown with dirt and with my, you know, water cold water.

Bissell thing, it really came up like new, you know, there's the, you can't even tell there was a stain on that seat.

So, and great recommend the old Bissell Wet Vac system is a very cheap hundred, eighty dollar way of making Interiors look pretty good. That is good.

It's a great. If you've got that same machine,

I think, yeah, yep, that's what I got.

Well, we've all got a Bissell. It really has brand-new Tesla

has hopefully doesn't need a Bissell on that odds.

You never know. You know my man anything's

possible these days. You need a big deal for people

that do I dropped off the Moke soft-top to the repair guy who's going to stitch it back together and put new windows in it for me. So that's underway.

And on the way back from here, my went to my engine builder guy, who's doing the engine on the Press carbon or 16.

So he's got the block and the head and the Pistons are liners and he's got most of its he needs to get the guts of it done. I've still got to find a couple

of bits for him, but I took him Inlet, valves, exhaust.

Valves, I took him, you know, shims and stuff.

He needs a new clutch. So that's all, you know, ticking

along. I'm not, I'm not looking forward

to getting the bill, but it's ticking along.

oh cool, I said yeah there's about 600 bucks tire so that should be 300 bucks. Half price.

Is that gone? Now, the IRP that we've got is

$870 So, you will get that for for 35 or something like that, but higher and that's if we have availability, and the head office is able to send us a tires.

Well, so that got me into the review Tire review section and I had a look and it looks like the Michelin Pilot Sport that it comes with. There's more stock now and

they're about five hundred sixty bucks a tire, which I'd rather go for that because the apparently the Pirellis, where quicker And so I said well I don't really know where Pirellis from sounds to tell you. I said screw you take your pizza

shit. Then I took it to an expert that

said you were an expert who is basically another model through performance are now, who does a lot for tires.

He's a, you got another 20,000 case, no worries!

And, and I was just, you know, Like I'm maybe he's just having a bad day. But then today, I drove it from

her place to work. Come off the freeway because I

didn't stop the whole way onto the freeway and then get off the freeway and it's idling rough. So, I'm like, not, I don't know

what it is. I checked out I checked

everything with the Bonnet and, you know, the coils and everything seemed. Okay.

I might change the coil packs, just in case I got a spare set of homes are going to stall, just change them over, but if it's called, basic would be, it wouldn't just be doing it at arm and Idols. So yeah.

I just get the change, the fuel filter and put some fresh juice in it, or a mockingly, put 20 bucks in it, so, which was really 9 L. Um, so I yeah, I'll probably

just run that fuel through it. The next couple days until it's

like, really empty and input. I won't put a new form, put a

new in a new feeling. It old drive it to Runners, get

a new fuel filter, and then basically give it some good BP 98 and see how we go because it's as I said it drives fine when you up and going but You come to a stop at the?

That's what I thought was weird to like I scanned it with my little scan tool. No, no errors or anything and

I'm sick. Really weird.

So I yeah, I just was like, well, it has to be the fuel because it was running perfectly until I put it in.

So that's kind of where I think it is more of a lot of a bit of dirty fuel in there, which is a little bit annoying.

But it is what it is, but the cast of Jaws fine doesn't overheat or nothing so it's I think I honestly think which is the fuel. So I'm going to take that in on

Monday and get that sorted drove, the MR2, all weekend.

Actually. I gave it a, gave it a nice

little run. I'm going to use the day.

As up because of the, I've just paid for the new one and I still would like, I've only used like 12 or 13 days for the whole year, which is about drive. So I'm going to draw a little

this week because I want to park the laser.

Well, I want to drive it tomorrow trees much of that feels I can and park it because the lights just came on today.

Then yeah, so I was dropping, the dropping, the MR2 was great on Friday, great on Saturday and then Sunday, I am driving it and the air conditioning stopped. So it was - was I Cold and

working and I'm like, that's like, so they just had that fixed. So it's also going back in this

week ticket to get the aircon sort of it, but that doesn't matter. It's on humming that the drive

the car. Anything, it's still driving

point. So it'll be at Classic Japan.

And I'm also taking it this Saturday to the classic Japan, motor car event at Toyota in Altona.

So how cool that would be, if they'll be able to find out, haven't done one of those. So I'll be Keen to see how it

The guy came last night and the car of someone of the cosmos same stuff. And he liked it.

It was just surprising cuz it's a cruise.

But any, like he, he kind of low-balled me.

And I was like, I was like, with a roadworthy, no way you can take it as it is for that for that price.

But with the road, Really, no way.

So we met at some sort of reasonable amount and I'm like, okay, you can leave a deposit and he's like, oh can I get an inspection on my car? Okay, you sure get an

inspection, whatever. I got that does not bother me.

So hopefully, fingers crossed the inspection goes, well and I can piss this thing off because it's been, it's been the bane of my existence for the last six months been for sale.

So, that'll go and should be all a oh, okay?

Now tonight, I want to talk about because because we obviously like all classic cars here affordable classic cars are good starter classic cars. That if you're saying you know I

wouldn't mind getting a getting a classic car you know that I could that I could potentially just you know, Just put her on occasionally and enjoy but a good way to start and people be like it worth. That's cool.

You know whether within a reasonable budget which I was going to say about under 22:15 like under that for like it for a good starter classic and I think there's plenty of 120.

Yeah I think there's plenty of options are under 24 for some good starter class. You are.

I'm I cannot of my pizza anywhere near 20 grand but you know I was like 20 grand gives you gives you a nice wide wide range of things and I was gonna start things off with Called it had mentioned earlier the MX-5 and earlier makes far but you're getting up there now these days I think they are a great way of you can. You can live like a blank
