It's about what are the most conservative cars and why do car companies do conservative cars? We'll come to that later in the

in the piece, but let's get in with some car updates.

Everyone car updates. What have I done?

Well, this morning I told you about the Hyundai Getz I bought, right? You have.

From the auctions and it has the littlest amount of clutch left that I've ever felt. So it was a bit treacherous

getting at home from the auctions, you know, over the Westgate. But this morning I had to make

the second trip in the gets from my home to the mechanic who's replacing the clutch. And I left early, you know, I

was, I was on the road by sort of seven or a bit past 7 and I had to go from my place to Carlton, which is maybe I don't know what's that six or seven KS, maybe bit stop start traffic here, a couple of hills there to negotiate Punt Rd.

You're bragging, man, Than me it doesn't.

Really go above 40 unless you're going down hills and I don't want to do any hill starts on it.

You know, I was, I really had the radio off.

I was really concentrating like come on, come on, keep moving, keep moving, keep moving. What are you doing, dickhead?

You know, I was really commentating the whole drive, but I made it there and then said please do not give this back to me without the clutch being done.

So yeah, he reckons I'll have it back tomorrow night.

So my sweet. That's I'm very good.

Be a fun drive home. I can really Fang the 1.6 with

the new clutch. The big block.

What else did I do? Can I can I just add before you

Went all right. I think the gearbox is a bit,

yeah, iffy, but apart from that it was good.

haven't sold anything or bought anything.

I really think I shouldn't buy anything else until I sort of deal with the Gets and the Triton and the E Class.

That's what I sort of need to do.

Took the E Class up to my brothers yesterday and it's a lovely highway car. He had a drive, took it down the

shops and back. He was oh, that's nice.

Than I thought Ed and I'm like yeah, there.

It's a lot of car for the money though.

I don't dislike it, no, but no, I don't think any other car news. Other than that.

Very good Scotty though I. Should let Ed do it.

He did a pretty good job when I was away.

Not many. I mean, I, I mean, yes, there's

many voices, but not many radio shows now.

There was one years ago. I remember Chrissy Dicko and

who's the Other one? Chrissy Oh, Dave O'Neill,

Chrissy Dico and Dave O'Neill. They were Vega FMI think before

it came smooth 91.5 was Vega. So they had a who do you do

segment 1 morning and I was driving to work.

So I ran in rang in and impersonated like meet the voice of a guy from Channel 9 and Dame Edna Everidge and and then they got me on to do, you know, ring back again or whatever.

And then they wanted to, they wanted to, they had a live show where you could go and, and like try it voices or yeah, I won the live show got 500 bucks. So I was like, that was my, that

was my claim to fame. Yeah.

It's a real talent, dude. So I did that.

Oh, and once Josh Thomas was on the radio with, you know, the comedian Josh Thomas is a whiny little guy.

He has an he has an unusual accent.

And he was on the radio and they were asking for people to call in. So I called in and was Josh

Thomas to Josh Thomas. And and he goes, is, is, is that

an impersonation of me? You know, and I.

Was. Like I was like, yeah, baby.

And and he goes, you can, you can come in and do all my early morning radio interviews. You know, I I'd love that.

You know, he talks inside. Anyway, that's my only claim to

fame. And you go.

So, so Scotty dough. You you're, you're impressed

with his, with his Scotty dough. Oh.

Very much so. Very much so it.

Was just when I was listening to him I was like Oh my God, I am so monotone. No one likes listening to their

own board listings. We all.

That's why I do everyone listening.

I I prefer listening to my inner monologue, it sounds better.

I always sound so much cooler in my inner monologue.

Scotty, I think your voice is totally fine and, and it's, it's appreciated. It's it's, it's, it makes for

good listening and for for good repetition with bunting.

I guess my real I'll do my real car update.

So I hadn't started or run the actual R31 since our sucker picnic. So it's been sitting there for a

while and I thought, but we should take the covers off and see if that battery's all right. I do have the battery

disconnected, but the battery's pretty old, so I thought Chuck it on, see if it wants to fire up because sometimes if I leave it for a bit it won't crank. But snow was all good.

It started just like it's any other car really.

It just cranked over and then idled straight away perfectly.

So I had no dramas with it. I was actually quite impressed.

Oh. Awesome.

For a spin, no, it's too wet. Yeah, that's the best time the.

Weekend. Sucked.

said to me when, when we caught up, this is before he saw the 31. That's a, that's a crow picnic.

He's like, you know, I'm, I'm just, I'm on the edge of my seat Every time he talks about this buddy 31 and he's like, I can't believe it because you know, it's been for years.

It's been getting on the road, got on the road, transmission blew up. And then from there was the

gearbox where he's like, it's like it's a never ending soap opera. And then that's why we're

calling it the soap opera of all cars.

But it's it's complete, it's done.

It's it's good. You've got working air con,

which is which is good. So.

Yeah. Air con, heater, it all works.

Yeah, yeah. I could, it would be funny if I

did. I reckon if I did get caught

losing a bit of traction on the road and I'll, yeah, everyone has that excuse of, oh, my foot slipped off the clutch.

It would probably be actually true for me.

those. They're pretty cheap and slap

Happy days Rob updates with you. Just repairing flat tyres on a

run, flat tyre on the on the nephew's car, getting the niece's car serviced. I actually went to Geelong, the

rode up there on the motorcycle in the rain and wet on the weekend so that was fun. Was that terrible?

Like look like, was it as horrible as that sounds or?

Pretty windy. Yeah, yeah, it sort of rained on

and off. It wasn't too bad.

You got the right gear. So it's, it's pretty good.

So I got to Geelong, I got my E30 up in Geelong.

So I started that up and took that for a spin like on the actually on the way up to Geelong first on the bike I come across. A whole lot.

Of a lot of Hondas, a lot of Civics and that there must have been some JDM mate on on the weekend on on Saturday, but there was 63 wide Japanese cars going down the Princess Highway.

Fantastic. It looked cool, looked

brilliant. So I was on my bike.

I just went, went around and went off I went, but I was slowing down the entire traffic right down the Princess Highway, like 90 kilometres or 95 kilometres an hour, freezing down the freeway. Anyway, so I got around then got

got to Geelong, started up the BMW, the the the E30 they went for. I thought I'd take for a bit of

a spin, top it up with some petrol, drove it down to Bunnings. And as I was walking back,

there's a whole lot of people standing around my car.

These Asian guys, they go fantastic, we love your car and all that. I said, yeah, it's not too bad,

a bit rough he goes, but that, that's what gives it that, you know, that sort of, I don't know, sort of patina or whatever. So they really loved it.

They stood around and asked me questions about it for about 10 minutes, I reckon. And they're all wrapped, you

know, they wish they had one themselves.

So it's, yeah, it's a good car. It's sort of actually a lot of

people do sort of sort of put the thumbs up when you drive it.

And so it's one of those sort of cars that sort of attracts a lot of attention. An E30 is definitely that sort

of car, isn't it Like yeah, people people like E 30s especially like in yours, like a coup and Emmanuel like that's that's a that's a cool car. Yeah, and it is fun to drive.

Every time I hop in it, it sort of yeah.

It puts a smile on your face. It feels like a go Kart so.

What colour is that, Rob? Is that red?

No, it's sort of that deep dark blue.

Oh yeah, yeah, Navy. Sure.

Yeah, sort of like. I've seen the colour.

Yeah, that's nice. Yeah.

So look, it needs a few dints. So I was thinking again that

maybe the the paintless dint repairs done on it, because there's a couple of dints here and there, people open up the doors on the onto the car and whatnot.

Yeah. So just try to clean it up a

little bit and yeah, it'd be good.

Be good to. Yeah, just sort of go out a bit

more often with it, I think. Absolutely there's.

One for sale actually at the moment stored on marketplace.

I want like 26,000 for it or something coins.

You're on to money. You're on to money there when

when you got yours years ago. Yeah, we paid like 2, I think

2300 for it or something right there.

Long ago, was that Rob? Well.

I think it's a bit around about 2014 ish.

How did you you came across that at a server or something, that card, didn't you? I was in Albury, son and I were

down there. We went to super cheap because

someone slashed me tyres and me on the Jeep while I had to park outside my friend's place. They knive the tyres, all three,

all three, three tyres and left. The 4th one.

They didn't touch it but they're about 3 puncher like punches through the side walls, a pocket knife.

It's an Easter long weekend. Nothing was open.

They didn't have the tyres to fit the car and they wouldn't fit the odd size tyres on the car to the at the tyre joint that it was open. What am I going to do?

How I'm going to get home? And luckily they sort of

punched, punched it on top near the tread.

It wasn't sort of like the full side wall puncher.

So I, I, I thought, you know what, I'm going to give it a go.

I went and bought myself one of those four Dr puncher repair kits and popped in all the, the things, glued them all in and pulled them out and trimmed them all off.

Drove all the way back to Melon. Wow.

Beautiful. So then.

What did you see the the E30 so. Whilst I was at the we were at

the Super cheap in Albury, we saw this guy back into an E30, beamed over here and then took off.

I took you, I took the guy's retro down and as I was walking back across the guy was walking to his car and go, hey, I've noticed someone back into your car and smashed the front little grill bit the, the kidney shape and they hit the top of the, the bonnet. And I, I gave him the, the

registration. He goes, ah, no, I'm not going

to worry about it sort of thing. Anyway, I said, look, if you

ever want to sell it, right, please give me a call, you know?

And he goes, Oh yeah, I'm thinking about selling maybe in 12 to, you know, 12 months or so.

Anyway, about 8 months down at the track, he rings me up.

He goes, so do you want to buy him a BMW?

And I goes, but he goes, but I want 2 grand for it.

I got sold. You're done.

Done. He had about 3 or 4 of them.

He actually is an engineer and he used to build race cars for this guy who ran the bus company, the Aubrey Bus company.

All right, so he actually raced D 30s but not.

Yeah, the the Delhi nugget so. Yeah, he rang me up and he said

do you want to buy it? And he goes, but I've got new

bridges on it and I've just done a suspension.

I want 2/3 for it. Fine.

Crazy. What is it like A318 or A31?

84 speed, A5 speed, yeah, yeah, nothing.

That's so good. It runs, drives well.

It had a bit of a oil leak at the oil at the actual oil philtre housing at the engine at the front.

And yeah, that's. Common Life.

Cylinder was leaking oil too, so I just replace the seals on that and replace the slave cylinder, the clutch cylinder, and it's all up and running. Yeah.

Very good. So, yeah, I took that for a

drive, so that was good. So then parked it up again,

disconnected the the negative on the battery and put it back on a trickle charge. This battery seemed to last a

long time on that one. It's been pretty good.

Yeah. I've only replaced the battery

once in the the the 10 plus years I've had it.

Yeah. So no, it's been good.

But you could smell I've got drive more often and swap the fuels out and I think I'm thinking maybe put 95 in it instead of premium because you put premium and it goes off too quick. OK.

So I think 95 might be a better, better bet.

Apparently they reckon it doesn't go off as quick. 90. 5

is better than 98, is that what you're saying?

Yeah. It's it doesn't go off in.

Terms of like shelf life, yeah. Shelf life.

Yeah, yeah. Actually, it's a bit.

Longer from what I what I've been told, I don't know, I need to do a bit more research. And what's the bit of fuel?

Well. There is a fine establishment

that sells, you know, fuel stabiliser that makes it last a bit longer. Yeah, well, you're supposed to

put that in straight after you fill it up or straight after you fill in it and then pack it up, because if you leave it for a while, it's not good to put it in after.

Yeah. So that's.

What I've been told by the the guys from the is the Molly stuff yeah, yeah. So yeah, but I need to do that

to all me cars. I just it's hard to keep on top

of them just just with the fuels.

I think I'm going to start off loading some cars.

I and just have 1-1 maybe one nice car instead of four OK cars. Oh, you got?

To keep the E30 when'd you get to?

Sell Rob. I don't know the XR6 turbo, the

Mustang 300 SC, the E30. What's the three?

of it when it was I probably could have got 40 plus for it, but now they've gone down a bit. So probably only get the sort of

like high 20s, low 30s for it at the moment.

But apart from that, I, I don't know it just I don't know what to do with my cars. I'm sort of getting to a point

where with mum and you know, life in general, you don't you don't know what to do with your cars come second to life at the moment. Yeah.

So you sort of go, well, what do you want to do?

Do you want to travel? Do you want to, you know, if I

go around Australia for 12 months, what do I do with my cars? He's.

Going to look. Up battery and keep.

Them all, Yeah, I know. But you got to park them up in a

way that's they're going to stay all right.

So you probably have to drain all the fuels out or or I don't know, maybe change the fluid out.

No, not. For 12 months I.

Don't know you're going to find. Trustworthy people like myself,

Rob, you can store, you know, a couple of cars at my place and a couple of Maddie's or something. Give them a bit of.

once every four weeks or talk about for a?

Was thinking the band, you know my original.

Plan with that was I actually bought a module that you could use and it would plug into like the minidisc input and you just connect that to Bluetooth. So the the outward presentation

of the the units fully original and now it just has Bluetooth.

But it took me such a long time to get it out.

That was the worst with Maddie. That was like, this game is not

going back in. Yeah, it's pissed me off to get

the. Original one out.

Yeah, that. Was the one of the worst things

because somebody had. Taken it out prior and they had

stopped yeah like bent the pins and everything else not cheers.

So we we bought like to disassemble the car to get it, you know, that was. Terrible that that.

It was shocking, but anyway, we got it done.

Updates with you. I don't really have any car

updates. I did drive a lovely Kia

Sportage in Townsville when I was there for work.

It wasn't under my name so I gave it the beans.

It was like Co workers credit card or somebody card that was.

Like a top spec one or? No, it was not a top spec and I

think it was at least a generation old.

OK, because the new ones don't have the printable anymore.

They've got the. Yeah, they've got.

The little dial. Yeah.

So the the previous channel on that didn't really go particularly fast and I don't think it was meant to, but and the air conditioning was nice in the in the Townsville heat.

Apart from that, didn't do a lot of car business.

Was around a lot of buses, as is the nature of my work.

Didn't drive a bus, unfortunately or fortunately.

Yeah. So saw a lot of a lot of beer

bellies and drank a few beers myself.

I haven't done a whole bunch of my cars.

I just been trying to find out why there's a faulty battery in my Sylvia. But I'm just basically got like

a reconditioning, like a battery charger that reconditions the battery and I seem to have sold it, but I don't think that's going to be a long term fix. There's something still going on

with the alarm. I think that's draining it

somewhere somehow. But I did help a friend out this

weekend, a friend of some of the show.

I guess most of us here. My friend Kieran's got a

Daihatsu for he's been. He's been.

Repairing for quite a while, he's ran into a couple of issues. He first got it and then it was

like overheating on the way, bringing it home.

And then turns out he, yeah, had blew a head gasket on it.

So he'd pulled the head off, you know, levelled it and all that and put a new gasket on. And then he's now, yeah, put it

all back together. And on the weekend we did the

last bit of it, which was putting the clutch fan back on, which she had to get like a part from Poland or something for she's no one makes them for the one.

Anyway, he got the part and still turned out to be the wrong part. And so you just had to pull some

of the bits off it and you for your work what he already had and sort of make it work. Anyway, we got it going and we

just couldn't get the temperature like the, the temperature wouldn't come up all the way.

Probably there was that. He said he replaced the

thermostat, so we thought maybe just the air pocket or something in there. So we ended up driving from

Cranbourne, from a friend's farm to his place in Malden.

And yeah, like he seemed to drive fine and didn't have any issues or anything. It was, you know, keeping up

with traffic and all that sort of stuff.

And it was obviously pouring rain as well on on the Saturday as well. So yeah, so that car's good and

ready to go for the most part. I think is just waiting for a

little couple of bits here and there.

It's already on the road like it's registered and he's on club, club perm and whatnot. So yeah, we just did a little a

little mini 4 wheel drive excursion Saturday and what else I. Just.

Cleaned some cars on the weekend I think just to did some little detailing in here and there and yeah, that was pretty much it for me. Yeah.

What about you, Maddie? What's going on?

Just. Quickly on that, Chad, what do

you do when you know you get to fan whatever it's and it's from Poland and it's the wrong one? Do you?

Do you return it? Do you?

Well, it's through. EBay and you know, the the the

part number that they like say is what it is.

Yeah, but it's clearly not like it's different to the photos.

So I think he's just going to try and do a claim on eBay.

I don't know if it's worth even paying the postage back to the place. So it might be worth just, I

don't know, hanging on or somehow getting rid of it somehow, but don't even have. Like a like a like a guarantee

on the parts or something or like it might be with eBay.

Plus, but I'm not sure, I think it might still depend on the seller. So I don't know where he got to

with that, so I'll have to check in with him.

But yeah, it was like $90.00 for the part, $90.00 to ship it

because, like, it's all the way from the other side of the world. And but, yeah, like, I think he

still took the bits off it that he needed, and then he just sort of like, made do with it, Yeah. Worth.

Annoying like you can't get it locally and then you try and get it from where you should, where it should work and still wrong.

Kind of annoying, but yeah, so a little little convertible for those fun top thing on the road, which was very cool fun.

Yeah, a quick one. On the eBay thing, I I bought a

lot all the the bushes and lower control arms for the E 430 and the fitment was shocking. It was real bad.

They were rubbing on the wheels, all sorts of things.

They just didn't fit properly. It fitted, but it didn't fit, if

you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah.

Weird, right? And.

I rang up the cellar and told them what was going on and they said, look, you know, that we really needed to know what was going on so we can fix the next lot they come out because I think they're all from China. Yeah.

Anyway, they, they refunded me. All right, Yeah.

So they're pretty good about it. And they said to keep the parts.

Oh no. Way yeah, so it's pretty cool

and. And I've done that with spray

cans and, you know, the old damage and stuff like that and just sent me another lot of spray cans like, like, you know, for when you do top coats or, sorry, primer coats and you want sort of like a guide coat. And so it's a guide coat paint.

It was all spilt and broken and within the box packaging.

And they just sent me another, another tin for nothing.

Updates Matthew, What have I done?

Driving the MR2, I drove it a bit last week and then it got really, really rainy and I was like, no, sorry.

I drove the laser for the rest of the week.

It's it's got a winter coat on at the moment.

The laser is just the dirtiest has been in a very long time.

So it's as Scotty would say, when you had the Liberty, it was, you know, it's it's it's been a coat.

So it's a the lasers in it's as the as the young kids would say, it's in it's a dirty girl era. So, so that's that's the laser

currently been been very good. I took a trip to imlux, which

we'll talk about very shortly because we, we got a power of specs in, in a moment to to get to get A to get a seat.

I've got an idea of of wanting to build a build a chair out of a, out of an, you know, an old back seat from a car.

And when I was there last time, they had this fair lane in there 2004 BA fair lane only had 130,000 K on it and it let's been side swiped and yeah, written off The front seats were gone, but the back seats were mint, like really, really good.

They're just just dirty. So I was like, would it be cool

to make like a, you know, like a leather, you know, a black leather couch, you know, before you know, for the garage.

So I went there, pulled it out. The people were were savages and

vultures that day like that. That was that wasn't like I, I

was walking with this trolley and people following me.

I need the trolley. I need the I'm like, no, like

I've someone's already got it, you know, before you.

They followed me to my car and said, can I have the trolley now? I'm like, no, I just said no

four times, you know, leaving the place.

But anyway, that's said last day things.

So I got picked up this, you know, black leather interior, you know, say about about rear seats or the, the base, the, the 6040 split and the, and the two side, you know, kind of bolts, the things that, that go on the, on, on the car.

And I've took it to work today and I sent it to my friend who I work with, who's he's like a, you know, a wood specialist.

And, and he, he kind of dropped for me a frame, the design of what we're going to do. And he's like, this will be,

this will be really easy to do. And he's very good.

Like he does all the school props for like the musical and stuff. Like he makes everything and he

drew it up and like I like before I got to work, you had it on my, you know, had it ready to show me and was like, look, I've, I've got it here for you. I'm like, Oh my God.

So that's going to be my job on Saturday morning.

We're going to, we're going to put it together on Saturday.

Sorry, I took it in today. I gave it gave the interior

clean bit of this old bit of Oakwood.

And then I put a bit of, you know, leather conditioner in it and it just sucked it in because it was pretty dry from sitting in a wrecking yard for a long time.

And it's just now it's all nice and supple and soft and 50 bucks of course means that. And you couldn't, you couldn't

get the leather for that. A few people have said that to

me. Can't get the leather?

Can't you just, you just can't get it for that.

And if I do this, I'm like, I might say, oh, I can probably, I can probably make these pretty easily.

And and, you know, go find some nice, you know, rear couches and so you know, receipts and. So I see.

I'm like, in the garage, obviously.

Like, you know, we'll go with space in there.

so I'm, I'm yet to convince her that this is a good idea, but once the chair car arrives and she'll be, she'll see how, how incredible it is. And I even took off the, the,

the hinges and stuff from the chassis of the car so I can probably make the, the seats flip down and, you know, make it easier for storage. So I've taken that and, and

yeah, hopefully it, it all works.

And yeah, from, from what I've seen it, it's, it should work pretty good. But that is, that is my, my

little, my little car job for, for the next little bit.

I did get to order the oil philtre housing gasket for the, for the MR2 because that's, that's the only thing that's still got a little bit of a leak and you can't get it in Australia. So I was like, OK, I'll get

online. I found a place that sells it

$9. I'm like, oh, easy.

Went to buy it. So it was $70 shipping.

And I'm like, that is ridiculous.

I refuse to pay that much for shipping for eBay.

No, it was from a, it's from a, an MR2 specialist.

So then I've went to another site and it's like $50 shipping.

So I want to just keep looking around and see if I can find it.

It's just, it's just O rings. It's it's essentially a rebuild

kit for it. So I just refuse to I got a rule

usually and it's like don't if it's if the shipping is more than the product, don't buy it because it's a bad, it's a bad financial decision. Yeah, but I might have to kind

Now before we get to the main topic, I want to talk about Imlox self Serve, which has served the the country for 45 years I believe Edward. Something like that, Yeah,

the, for one, the car community, but also, you know, for the many hours you spent there, like the friendships we've made and, and the things. And and then I got talking like

we bought that, we bought that 238 from there that time, but that was going into the that was going to be put into the yard.

And yeah, that's. Right.

You know, it was. It was.

Kind of like a hub for us people.

You know, it was, it would, it really was.

And it's not just us, but like a lot of people have, you know, been saying, you know, it, it is a, it is a real sad kind of kind of moment. It's it's like a kind of like a

My happy place, you know what one of but I I just was thinking about it afterwards thinking I've never been to IMAX and not been happy like. Like.

happier, you know, And I just thought that it's really sad that I won't be able to go there and have that, you know, Saturday morning I'll just dip down to Imlux and just see what I've got now spare, just see what they've got, You know, like you, you won't, you don't have that anymore.

I mean, you can go to other wreckers and have that, but there's just further and maybe not quite as random as that one, but do you get your? $2.00 back if you buy something

Oh OK so I walked out of the Apple store and thought do.

I walk around chatty. And then I thought, no, I'm just

going to buy shit and you know, I hate chatty, so I thought I'll just get into in like. So I went down there and came

across a fresh Skyline, you know, sedan like the the the successor to the 240K. Well, they scored.

Yeah, that was Scotland. Even early.

Like an early Nissan score, I suppose.

Yeah, no had. Just been.

Oh, OK. Yeah, yeah.

Put out like an R? Like an R30, No.

It's the C10, just just. Before that, I think, yeah, I

just. Went forward.

Twin headlight thing. Yeah, yeah, quad headlight sort

of thing I think called twin headlight, not quite.

Yeah, sorry, but that had just been put in the C the.

C like the C210? Yeah, C2. 10 that's it, C210 and

the guy goes, oh, you're like the 15th person to ask about the car and I'm like, oh, I'll go in for a wander and price it up.

He goes, by the time you come out, we would have priced it.

OK, so I wander out. How did you price the thing?

And he goes yeah, 1800 bucks. So I'm like all right.

And then I thought I'll just just ring someone and double check like if that's good. I think it is now I can't ring

anyone, don't have my phone. So I just had to go with my gut.

I went, Yeah, I reckon that's worth it.

Yeah. All right.

Yep. I'll take it.

Anyway, I brought it home about a week later, vacuumed it, did some research, thought, oh, these are actually worth a bit.

I sold that car for seven and a half, $1000.

Holy moly, I made. 5 1/2 grand and I thought so, yeah, you can

take all my $2.00 you want, you know, like I've done it right

out. And that was all good my.

Phone was stuck at the Apple store is the only reason I went there. She's.

Good. You know well when.

We bought that 2:30, you know, it was like we were leaving the yard and we hopped in the. Car.

And we drove it and it's like, stop.

And I was like, Oh my God, it's and he's like pull over.

And like Ed's got this uncanny ability to to just pick a diamond in the rough and and like when you walked up to it and it had a had a dig in the quarter, the lot they had the indicator was missing or broken and the the bonnet, the bonnet I was. Gone.

Yeah, the the. What's it called the the emblem

was gone, but then you had a look at him like this things meant then, then then we had a look.

I only had done like 114,000 K's was something.

Ridiculously. Low.

Yeah, they've. Done that 116, I think, yeah.

Because. We did about four in it.

I did 4IN it. But yeah, you know, and there

were telltale signs. And The funny thing was it had a

big fat sign on the windscreen. It said not for sale, not for

sale. Yeah, so we.

Walked around this for sale, he said.

Not for sale on the windscreen and it literally from when we went into when we came out, it had been shoved to the side, brought in on a truck or whatever like it was.

Still the engine back the engine was still warm you.

Feel the bonnet was still warm and there there are certain things with well with any car that you know we would all sort of be able to walk around and go well that's pretty original, but and that was one of them you know like original Coco mats, original stereo. The wood wasn't totally peeling

off the gauge said 116 and I looked at the wear on the steering wheel and those old benders go very smooth and it wasn't smooth and you know you just walk around and go this thing has not had a hard life. You know, it's got a little bit

of a Ding in the front quarter and the stars missing and the bonnet's a bit faded. But other than that, I reckon

that's genuine. And so then it was like, you

know, we walked inside and said, said, can we have the key?

And they, oh, you know, it's not for sales going out the back.

And I said, oh, could I? Could I just have a look at it,

you know, and say, yeah, all right, so, you know, go out and started it up. And it ran smooth and sort of in

and out of gear. And I thought, this is OK.

And then I said, well, what would you know?

What would I know? You want to put it out the back?

But what would cause you to perhaps not put it out the back, you know? What sort of dollar?

Figure would would save you from doing that and they came back and said I think it was 1400 bucks and it was like give it to me now you know we drove we. Drove it home that day we drove

it. Home, isn't it crazy and and you

know the 1st Dr of any car is, is is very telling you know always the the 1st 5 minutes you know by the time I got from him Lux down to sort of East Malvern where we went to the car wash.

I think we blasted it down, yeah.

The. The pressure hose, I was like,

I'm not selling this car, you know, like.

This. Is a genuine car, so it didn't.

Regretfully, it didn't have books.

But it had a. Current service sticker on it,

or you know, a service sticker from a specialist.

So I traced a bit of this history through that guy and he knew the owner, he knew who'd had it.

You know, they worked at a cafe down in Mornington.

I tried to contact them but never could.

But I did go to the cafe a couple of times.

But yeah, I suspect that car was sort of a, a family car, like it had been that the granny's or the aunts or something and down to the youngest son who'd had it a few years and then he'd got something newer with Bluetooth and whatever.

And, and this had just been towed away.

But really. And, and so, you know, I had the

bonnet painted and the guard painted new indicator lens and put the star back on the front. And I mean, you guys all saw

that car, you know, really nice, original 2:30.

And to think that was going to go out the back, which is just criminal or. Sort of getting rid of their

cars. Don't they realise the value of

it? Or do you think they just had

enough and they just couldn't be bothered?

People don't care. Rob No.

I think it's both Rob, I think they they don't know like and also like on this podcast, we can get stuff done.

Yeah, we're all reasonably handy and we have a network of people that we know that can do stuff. Looking at that bins, you know,

Oh mate, that's 5 grand worth of panel work, you know, and to someone, someone else, it probably is cars only worth 2 grand, not worth it. Send it to the wrecker, you

know, realise what it could be. And I think it's, I think it's

that, you know, what's a 5 grand repair to someone else is a is a $1500 repair to her and, and you've got a car then it's worth 10, you know, like. Yeah.

They they, they're not aware of that.

They're not in car circles. They don't have the networks.

And it's all just too daunting. And that's kind of what I, yeah,

I love bringing cars like that back.

And, you know, the other one that comes to mind from IMAX was a Magna, you know, and that was David Prince on this podcast.

He said, oh, there's a really clean Magna down at IMAX.

And I'm like, oh, yeah, what is it?

And he took a photo, showed us a photo afterwards or something.

And I'm like, that looks amazing.

It had done 80,000 K. It was a manual GLX Gen 1 Magnus

sedan at the front. I think they had 1400 on it or

1500 on it. And I went down the very next

morning at like I was there when the gates opened at 8:00 or 8:30 or whatever. And the guy said, oh, if you're

interested in that, we'll do you a bit of a deal.

Otherwise, that one's going at the back.

You know, maybe they just say this to me to get me to buy everything so I could. Smell you from a while away.

Exactly. And I said, oh, is there any

reason why you're putting it back?

You said we're just we're just out of room.

Like we've got more coming in. Like it's got to go somewhere.

And, you know, at the backs where they end up.

So I bought that for like 1200 and drove that home down Dandenong Rd, you know, that day or the next day.

And I was just like, jeez, these are quiet.

These are smooth. These these are really, you

know, class of, but they were a class above back in the day, those Gen 1 magnets. And that was I cleaned it up.

I. Don't think I ended up getting

that roadworthy. I think I just cleaned it and

repaired a few little things and sold it to a guy who had learnt to drive in that exact car. He wanted a GLX manual sedan,

you know, so I sold it to him for, I don't know, 3000 and something dollars, you know, like there wasn't massive money in it, but it was enough. And the car, more importantly,

the car got saved. You know, it wasn't it wasn't

getting pulled apart. And this is 80 K Magna.

Like you don't you don't wreck that.

You know, it wasn't busty or anything.

And then you got your which you still have and.

Of course, yeah. Yeah.

That was that was in the yard. That.

Yeah, that. One was different because that

was actually at the back. That's the only one that was up

on blocks in the yard that I've ever saved.

And they sort of were just shaking their heads like what you what are you going to do, store this?

How did you convince them? Well.

Yeah, it was it. Was probably a bit more loosey

goosey back then. It was probably not as quite,

you know, tightly regimed or whatever, I don't know, but.

It's just downplaying his salesman charm, no?

No, yeah. Screwed, but I remember.

Arguing. Negotiations.

Are you just? Looking or are you?

I remember arguing with the guy on the counter back then.

Now the truth comes out he wanted.

Three, I think I said how much just to buy that whole car and I think they said. I think they.

Said 400 and I wanted 300. And.

We went round in circles for a bit and it broke.

This man down, yeah, it broke this man down to like his childhood traumas and everything.

Hang on, this was. Like 20 years ago though, this

is. Like 2003 or somewhere there.

Yeah. So it's like.

Yeah, A. Long time.

Ago. 1200 bucks Australian. Yeah, yeah.

So. I ended up paying poor man.

Down. Yeah, the guy got new therapy

after that and it's like, yes, I've saved the 100 bucks.

Paid 400 payment for the night. He's like, like, I'm not, I'm.

Not gonna have. I'm gonna have to eat bloody

eggs on toast. Eggs.

I'll tell you another story after.

This one so $400.00 later and then they had to forklift it out

and the truck driver literally said you're not going to restore this, are you? Like couldn't believe why this

was coming out of the yard and so much so they didn't give a shit about it. They dragged that, you know, the

chains, things they used to they, they dragged it over the, the roof in the bottom of the car.

It's still got scratches where the chains got dragged over.

And then I had it towed to a friend's house because I had no space. And, and I went out there that

weekend and we put a battery in it and put oil in it.

And it was the thing just fired up and idled beautifully as it still does. And that's 2020 something years

ago, you know, so and I traced the whole history of that car.

You know, those who would have seen my Instagram post about it, you know, the sticker on the windscreen led me to the mechanic who'd serviced it, who I knew, the guy that worked there. So he printed off the service

stuff for me. I rang the the lady's phone

number. She'd owned it since new with

her husband. She'd only, she had quite bad

dementia, but just had it, just had it towed away like the week before. And and she gave me all the

service papers for it, like right back to day one in the spare keys. That's correct.

Amazing story. So that one literally was from

the jaws of death. The other ones were sort of all

only threatened the jaws of death.

But yeah, so, you know, the $2.00 entry fee's been well

covered by the money. I've yeah, years.

cars, you get just go straight down there and loiter around.

I think it's just random. Well, even that my Renault, I'd

left it for a week because someone put on the French car for him. Oh, there's a there's a really

quite an original 16 out the back down there.

You know, great parts on that da, da da and I thought I'd get enough cars. Don't even go look at it, Ed,

You're not going down there. So I told, I convinced myself

not to go down there. I waited a week and then I sort

of went just, you know, I would have to just have a look.

Surely, man, surely it's. Not still in that good condition

surely. Surely.

And then when I walked around, I'm like, Oh no, that is actually really cool. So it's like.

For you guys, it's been like such a right place, right time.

Yeah. Just bargains to be had.

Yeah. I've never seen a good car for

sale at any wrecking yard. Like, we've never come across

one that's been like, oh, man, you know, this has got to be saved. Like they've always been

buckets. And there's a reason they're

they're. Usually, you know, yeah.

And then? Even the good ones, like good

quotation marks, the ones they put like right at the front or like just the outside. I'm talking about any wrecking

yard. But like, yeah, they're.

Not basically they're. Just trash.

Yeah. But yeah, you guys have just

found these gems. Gems.

It's unbelievable. I'm so jealous.

Tight ass moment though, just talking about haggling or whatever here we here. We go this is for you, this is

for you. I.

Was looking for. A car for my sister and at that

stage I was big fan of the Renault.

I still am big fan of the Renault 12.

Very simple, robust, comfortable.

Little cars and they were. Very cheap for a long, long time

and quite a few of them out there.

So I'd had numerous Renault twelves and there was one in the trading post that had just had new wheel bearings and something else done and something else done like 6 months earlier.

And then the, the, the kid who was leaning to drive in it, you know, didn't want anymore or something.

Got a, got a normal car and it was advertised for $60.00.

It was like 500. Then the next week it was 400,

then it was 300 and then it was just 60.

And I thought, OK, 60 bucks I've got, I've got to go and look at this thing, right? So I went out to like furniture

galley somewhere and it was actually a pretty original old thing, You know, it, it, it was cosmetically a bit Thai like being a bit bashed around and Ding, but mechanically it was sweet as pie. So I offered the guy 40.

He doesn't think he goes. Mate, the car's 60 bucks.

And I'm like, yeah. Fairpoint.

Fairpoint, we just couldn't not, I couldn't not haggle, you know?

You've never paid asking price, haven't you?

He's not anything. Never.

He's a man. After my own heart you know

against never paid full price my.

Sister had personified. That.

My sister had that Renault 12 for six years and at the end of six it was still running beautifully.

That motor was sweet as pie. It leaked oil, it clunked, it

groaned, it did it. But my God, it always started,

you know, and. I pulled.

The mirrors off it has because it had the genuine French proper Chrome mirrors. The later Chinese in imitation

ones are nowhere near as good. So I pulled the mirrors off it

and sold it for $120.00. Doubled our money six years

later. Just for mirrors, what year was

that? I kept.

I kept the. Mirrors.

and buying this mini for $200. And so I ended up buying a car

and I came home and mum said, oh, did you, did you help Dave get a car today? And I'm like no.

But I bought 1 so. I'll tell you what.

You should do is get the, like an old clunker, like a real old Magna and drive around the western suburbs or the far northern suburbs or eastern suburbs and people come out from the houses and say you ought to take mine off the nature strip and you'll get them for nothing. Yeah.

beautiful car. Like it was like a year old.

It's a year old S class and she's and she's like, oh, you know, but it's what do you want to do?

you know, come in looking for a Rd worthy and he's like, guess how much I paid for it? And she's like like $150,000.

He's like how about $1000 and she's and she and she's like, she's like, wait, I'm I'm sorry, what?

Like so it was in a it was $1000 or $10,000.

It was one of the two. It was, it was a ridiculous like

it was $150,000. Car anyway.

He's like he saw it up in the, it was in the, you know, the last years of the training post. It was in there and it was like,

you know, 22,000 and six or whatever S class $10,000 or 1000. I can't, I can't read the exact

number, but it was, it was 10 or one just showing up.

But I'll call it, it's probably just a type of probably just like $100,000 or you know, and he's like a lady picked up and she's like, Yep, come get the car today if you want it for that price. And he's like, I'm on my way and

he and he gets there and then he's like, I'm here to pick up the car. And she's like, yeah, no

worries. Give me a second.

He just hears in the background, you are like this guy just going off at this, off at this woman. And he's just like signing the

paperwork real quick. And it turns out he cheated on

her and he put the car in in in her name.

So she's just to get back at him, sold the car, it's her.

It's it's her car. Yeah.

So you. Can sell it, you can sell it so

and like he's like fool like he's like I could hear in the back and he's like, you know, just swearing carry on.

And he's just like selling the paperwork as quick as he could to get the car out of there and see you later.

So that's if. You bought a car under your your

wife's name and you signed all the paperwork even though it's registered under her name. It's really your car, isn't it?

Who's it registered to? Just real, that's what.

I say, who's the registration? Doesn't mean you own the car if

you've bought the car and you've got the contract of sale.

Kind of does, doesn't? It.

Yeah, if. There's no contract of sale then

that is the ownership form. Who's the?

Registered owner of the car. She is.

Unless there's like a bill of sale that predates it or, you know, yeah, after the, yeah, the the car's being received, It's an. Unregistered car and you could

prove ownership papers then yeah that's yours but it's registered. It's kind of like, well, that's

I think the trick is if you have put assets under your wife's name, probably don't cheat on her.

It's sort of nice having all the Mitsubishis in one spot where you can just go. Oh, the Honda's in one spot

And often there's things on one model that will also fit another model. And if it's right next door,

these owners that they're, they're having to get out because there's not enough money in it anymore.

By the time I think that's part of it, I mean that's.

Not a place of residence. So you would be paying land tax

on 10 acres, you know, that is. So the land tax bill's probably

huge. The insurance bill's probably

gone up, like all our insurances have gone up.

Public liability. Public liability's probably gone

up. So it's and.

The fact that they're all getting older and probably want to retire, I think it's probably a melting pot of all of that and you're so screw it, you know, Yeah, sitting on 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 millions of dollars of value here.

inherited a property through your parents or your grandparents, you know, maybe it's down the beach somewhere or you know, some of the countryside or something.

And just because of where it is, you know, grandpa might have bought it for £60,000 back in, you know, 1958.

Now it might be worth 2 and a half million or three million, but you know, you didn't pay that for it.

You know, you sort of inherited this thing and now you're slapped with this. You know, you might be paying 20

grand a year, 30 grand a year, land tax.

Jesus. And so, you know, it's like well

Not everyone's got that to just sort of frivolously throw away at nothing that you already own. It's not like you don't own it,

you know? You might know even probably not

even paying it off, you know, so they're sort of wanting to hurt people who are buying a $3,000,000 beach house and got plenty of cash around to pay land tax.

But there's they're they're a family that hurts others in the in the long term property. Ownership there that that.

Didn't pay anywhere near that for it and they're being slapped at them. I think that's unfair.

What are the most conservative cars that that are on sale or have been right now? Yeah, I was going to say the

Toyota. Avalon, but that's.

That's why Toyota. Starts with the sales, because

they're too. Conservative.

They're still a. Conservative company like.

They're very conservative with, with what they do and, and their designs and like you, you're trying to be better, you know, and yeah. They're trying to be better.

Was like we don't want to build boring cars anymore and you know, you got things like Chr Yaris Cross is a bit edgy.

Rev 4 you know's got to be a spunk about it like they're they're not as bad as they were. You know, they're I think

they're going in a in a reasonable direction, but you're hoping on modern Hilux and it's. Not great like it's it it's Alex

is probably more of a recipe I. Suppose, but I don't know what

is the most. Conservative car out there now?

What's I reckon Mazda is up. There.

The interiors are very basic looking inside.

Well, it's weird that like there was a.

Company there, they've just kind of plateaued like they haven't really done anything, you know, like they're, they're kind of just like, Yep, this is it, this is what we do.

There's no innovation or anything anymore.

No innovation. They've they've got nothing of

interest. Really, I mean, the MX5 is the

only kind of interesting that they sell for well for us and the enthusiasts, but like even they're even the Mazda 3 like like it's a good looking car, but like terribly like economics terrible in terms of like, you know, blind spots and everything. It was it's a it's not a nicely

designed, it's not a well designed car in terms of in terms of everything. But as a company, I think, I

think they're quite conservative.

They're they're you know, we do this, we sell OK cars in Australia. Let's just let's just stick with

that. They're not really changing.

I think, I think they're quite conservative.

I think the Chinese companies are not conservative.

I think they're, they're really trying to push the envelope and they're, they're being, I mean, BYD is, you know, designing things after animals, like sea animals.

So like quite literally. So, you know, and, and they're

selling quite well. But then again, when you go too

far down the other end of like a Kia Tasman, which I don't think I haven't even seen one on the road yet.

Like that's, that's just shows people.

You. Know.

Turning oh, that's a bit too far gone so like you know in that in that instance, all cars from like SUV's and stuff like if you look like a modern you know CX5, they're kind of all all cars from that from that era look the same, don't they but they're like sorry from that like classic car they all look exactly the. Same, you know.

All you know, if you painted them all white, you'd be.

Unless you're one of us, you'd be hard pressed to tell.

Tell them apart. Why do you think that's the

case, boys? Like, like, do you think they

can't come is just the sheep, they're just trying to be safe.

Or do you think that that is the the one way that they're gonna keep selling cars? They get too big and too fat and

it's too hard. For them to change and retool

like they used to, like they used to, like back in the 90s, I would say even the 80s, there's a lot more work involved.

But every three years there'll be a whole body change and then and things would move along. Now it's they seem to hold it on

for a bit longer. I don't know that that style or

that chassis line. Yeah.

Yeah. Well, Mazda. 6 went The last

generation's gone. Over 10 years now, I think so,

yeah. It's pretty incredible.

example of a safe sort. Of boring.

this recipe, it works and they just kept flogging it.

Like edgeless design? Or whatever like the.

Mazda 3 Basic, Yeah, it's cool, but yeah.

It's. Again, it's like really safe in

terms of other parts of the car. Yeah, I know.

But see, that's your point. Like we, we, we bag on.

BMW for the current lineup of cars and to be fair, they're terribly looking like, but like they don't they're not a good, but at least they've gone and done something different.

So I can't knock them for that. But like on on the the.

Contrast to that, you've got something like a cyber truck, which is completely, literally edgy.

Edgy. Yeah, it's completely.

Unsafe. Literally and metaphorically

cutting fingers off. Yeah, cutting fingers off.

You know, knocking people's heads off if you hit them head on. So.

And that was a struggle from day one, like approvals and sorts of things. I'm pretty sure it's still

banned in Europe. I don't know, probably.

But yeah, just just all. Sorts of things.

And it's how is he, given what's happened with Elon and how it's all gone down, it's hard to be like why?

Well, what was the real reason for the flop?

Is it partly Elon ISM or is it, you know, just the side track being an overall poorly, really poorly designed and built vehicle? So you see that a lot of car

companies will see that this they took a big risk and there was a lot of Hoo ha about it. But in the grand scheme, they

didn't really translate to a lot of sales.

No, but then again, like the rest of the Tesla range is.

Is very mundane, very safe, very conservative like like you can't tell me you're 3 or why is not conservative designers it's just a BLOB No, they're pretty conservative but yeah like but they. Also sell reasonably well.

Yeah, again, notwithstanding the current market situation, they, they, they sold pretty well. And whereas the, the wild one

that everyone like it did draw headlines.

But, and at the end of the day, it's not selling too well.

And I don't even know if how many they're they're putting out factory wise considering, you know, the, the different issues they've had. But still, it's like, you know,

do you take that risk? Are you going to put all the

tooling in and everything else in place for people to be like, oh, it's a bit too wild. I don't know how I'm going to go

about the resale because that's for a lot of people that is in your mind. What about the resale?

That's why a lot of people don't buy wild colours.

It's true. You've just got your basic

colours, your silvers, your blacks, your whites.

Deals like, well, resale. But see, that's not necessarily

true because. On the contrary, people that buy

like like a cool colour and a rare colour, like in a bit of an outlandish colour, they sell for more usually because like wow, that's like a 911 in that purple.

Yeah, but a 9/11 versus a Toyota Camry that.

Somebody's got that is also true, like a red Camry.

You're. Pink, yeah.

So he's got like, you know, one of.

Those matte, you know, matte green, like raps on it.

No one's going to buy that Camry.

the, what is the answer here then?

So do you think car companies should stay where they are conservative in terms of what they're doing or do you think well, and do you do you think it would too?

We're at the stage now where card is on is at that point of where everyone's just doing the same thing and have done for so long. And when you try to go against

the Grand Tasman, you get knocked and you get destroyed and it basically doesn't sell. So is that is that the reason

why companies are just like, no, we're going to do basic designs, clean designs. We're not going to, we're not

going to push the but then again, BMW sell a crap tonne of M twos and, and stuff like that. And you know, the new, the new

buckteeth threes in and fours and the hideous X7 things they've got now, like they're still selling them whether or not they're holding. It because of the name.

That is, that is true. And they've, they've, you know,

they've got. Their reputation, I suppose you

can, you can, you can say that, but also in the same token too, you know BYBY. BYD have come out of.

Nowhere in Australia anyway and have got these wildish designs, crazy interior colours, you know, guitar strings on the, you know, on the bass and they're and they're selling remarkably well. So I don't know is it, is it, is

it, is it something that we're not seeing here in terms of is it, is it not design? Is it more of like, oh, what

this offers us? If in terms of like a can you

afford to be more, you know, crazy with your designs when you, when you when your car's at a more reasonable price, Do you reckon it comes to price? If that's the.

If that's the case, I think you probably need to.

Do need to do? Both you.

Need that conservative, conservative, I don't even say the word side. So then they can make that

money. So then you can have all those

different ones that they can try out bread and butter cars.

So yeah. You got to have the ones that

sell, yeah. And make the money and.

Then yeah, you can see. That you can sell the MX5?

Yeah, that's true. You know, without.

Those you're not going to. Have all those crazy.

Cars like Toyota start to dish out now Yeah, you wouldn't have had them start to dish out and have a crack at the Super again or the GR Yaris and the Corolla. They never would have appeared

if it wasn't for selling basic Corollas all the time.

And, you know, keeping it, keeping it simple, you you've got to have those cars. So then we can have something

outlandish. Whether it works or not is I

don't know. I don't know how.

How you can tell what works and what doesn't.

It's a crazy market. Yeah.

Yeah, I do think you have to do. Both I think.

Those like main companies, like the ones that have been around, but you know, quite a while, at least in Australia, they do do both because they need to retain that like market share with the vanilla sort of cards and so they can dip their toes into the fun stuff. But then I think the players

that are breaking into the market just let's just specify specifically they have. To do something different.

They're like almost there. Their hands are forced to do

something that stands out from the rest of them.

And you, there are some Chinese cars that just look like GTA cars that are just part of the traffic that like you can't even tell the difference. Like I saw a Jaiku yesterday.

Oh yeah, I don't even know that was.

The thing but. From a distance, I thought it

was AI don't know a jolly or something like that was just, you know, it was really unremarkable.

But again, like the, I think, yeah, BYD is probably as good as that, but that's where the price comes into play, right?

Because if it's a cheap car. It's a cheap car.

People sometimes just don't care what it looks like.

Then. Yeah, that is a good point, I

think. Yeah.

Sometimes it is just a cheap car and there's a car that needs to get things done and that's where the price is valued more than the looks of it or what not. And I guess, you know, it is a

safe design. So it's like, yeah, I'm buying

some. I'm buying a Rav 4 from team You

basically right. Yeah, like it's yeah, it's

probably built on AI, don't know, some other platform just slapping you and that badge on it and make the exterior look a little different to what it was. And that's a safe car.

But yeah, I mean, as car guys, I think all of us would like cooler looking things. I don't know how cool, you know,

everyone wants a car to be, but like, I think it's just like having not all of us are going to buy new cars.

You know, that's that's the. Other thing, but yeah, it's like

you want to see something other than GTA looking cars and like weird looking. I think also that the longest

thing he's been around that the higher.

The stakes are, you know, like if you look at you know, BMW example like X3X5, you know, the recipe of a current X5 is very, you know, in the lineage. You can very much be where it's

come from in the original, but the stakes are high.

Very popular car for them they don't want to offend anyone that's bought it. They so they just tweak and

modify and you know you know they don't want to go insane with X5 design because a why would you because it obviously works and people like it but B it costs a lot of money to do that or more money and C you don't want to come out with something that's so whack job. It might appeal to some new

buyers, but all the loyal ones that have bought the last four models might go, look, I'm going to buy Merc.

That looks horrible, you know? Yeah, because a lot of.

Because the goal is to. Make the person that's got the

previous model feel like they're poor now.

No, you're right. If the goal is to make them buy

the new. Car you know.

If you want them out of the old one into the new place, if you've still got the old one, you're poor, so you've got to quickly trade. This in, get the new one and

then, you know, show it off to your neighbours me like a hug, you know? What I hate is to like I've got

my. Bought my Ford Transit only

what, a year and a half? It's going on to two years soon.

It's been in a deal. It's more than it's been in a

it's still there at the moment, but I it had some good features.

It's got a normal handbrake on it.

It hasn't got keyless start. It's missing a few things and

they've given me a loan transit, a brand new one, push to start electric E brake. So it's got all these little

things. So people go, oh geez, that's a

nice to have. I I might just go for it because

it's got all. These little.

Updates in it and they try to give you these incremental updates and Ford and Toyota have been real good and give you those little updates to try to entice you in three years time there's probably enough updates for you to say oh I might get this now because it's got you know car play it's got this it's got adaptive cruise control even the lane keep assist on this new transit it's better than mine yeah what they're not doing is changing the. Fundamental.

Design of the transit it's still very much abandoned by for you know it's still that one of the cars I I think it did a major shift was the Santa Fe like the Santa Fe for years it's.

Pretty well. Established model now in this

market and for years it was fairly conservative updates, but this new one was a big Oh my God sort of jump away from that design we had. It's a lot squarer and those

funny rear lights and blah blah and seemingly they've pulled.

It. Off and enough, enough.

People have jumped across into it, you know, it's it's getting a good rap. I don't like the design of it

personally, but I enough people obviously do.

But that was that was sort of a bold move to to take an established SUV like that and really shake things up with it.

Yeah, like I said it to people. Today when I when I talked about

this was going to be the topic and they're like, like people just buy anything. I'm like, no, if you're buying a

car, it's an emotional purchase. If you're going in there to buy

a car, you like ferocities, but not for, you know, there's a lot of. People that don't give it rats,

like surely you want to have some sort of pride?

I don't know, for a lot of people I feel just the new car.

The new car experience everything.

The new car. Experience as long as the.
