Let's get right into a car right off the top of the show. Right.
Here it is, the new M2 CS.
This is a car that was promised to me.
I think a while back, I had the M4 CS right before they delivered
the M4 CS, they said someone crashed this car.
This press car.
And just as a little sidebar,
tell everybody like how frequently this happens with press cars and then constantly,
constantly, right? This is why they have more than one.
Yeah. And they're and press people aren't responsible, right?
When they crash, or are they? Are we?
Well, it depends.
Like, you know, if you're drunk, then you're responsible.
If you are, what if you're responsibly drunk?
Wait a minute. Is that true?
Well, you can't be drunk.
No, I know who's going to know.
You know, no, there's a crash report like form and everyone, you know,
the whole goal is to never have to fill them out, right?
Yeah. But but seriously,
do you know anybody who's ever had to pay for a press car?
And Motor Trend, very famously, we had one we had to pay for.
And because somebody, it was it was the 50th anniversary, 9-11.
And somebody on staff like, I don't know what they did,
but it looked like they drove over a piece of rebar that was sticking up.
I just sliced the thing, nose to tail, like really broke the arms to chaps.

Yeah. Like arms front and rear pierced the oil pan, gouged everything.
Wow. The fuel tank and didn't cop to it.
So our like basically it was leaking oil, right?
Yeah. One guy noticed.
So that we brought it and it brought it to Rusnick in Pasadena,
which is right near my house. Yeah.
And I got a call from the Porsche PR guys like, you better go look at that car.
And so, OK, I went down there and I had it on the left.
I was like, oh, my God.
And they're basically said, you know, look, if you crash it while you're testing it,
that's fine, but you got to admit to it.
You got to tell us.
And like we did a whole investigation.
And yeah, yeah, I know exactly who did it.
OK, who wouldn't I can't do it.
He wouldn't fess up.
No, I call Johnny all the time or Matt Farah, if anything like early on,
they're like, oh, I got a little ding in the wheel or the ballet did it.
And I go, what do I do? And you guys go, you got to just tell them.
You got to tell them. Just just tell them.
Yeah. Hope they don't not tell them and hope they don't notice.
Why did he not cop to it?
We don't know because that's the thing.
We don't as an employee, you don't have any liability.
Like when it went back in the day, there was this guy, Scott Mortar,
a motorist at my first day, he goes, listen, do anything you want.
Drive the cars. When you crash it, you tell me, you tell me.
Don't lie to me. Just tell me, I'll take care of it.
And I said, great, you know, and, you know, I couldn't even begin to imagine.
I mean, one of the best was I had a perfomante and, you know,
Jethro, yeah, him and I were driving around and I was just,
you never have a day where you're driving better than you normally drive.
And he's like, Mike, you ever thought about racing?
And I'm like, yeah, I think about it from time to time.
Crash.
And then Jethro was freaking out.
I literally like got my phone out called Lambo, like,
do you have another green perfomante in Los Angeles?
Or like, yeah, Leno has it today.
I'm like, OK, we're going to need it for tomorrow.
And Jethro was just like, where am I?
What is happening? Yeah, that's just how it works.
That's how it is.
And these press cars sometimes they go back into the fleet.
Sometimes they don't. And sometimes they're just destroyed.
Yeah. Anyway, yeah.
This car has was significantly crashed
because it just came back yesterday.
Who knows? I know.
I could tell it was months ago when they said this happened.
But it's brand new. It's just it's factory parts.
Well, yeah, I'd love to know what happened to it.
But yeah, the car like Zuckerman's Son Dell has one of these.
Well, the previous 2020.
No, I know, but it's an M2CS, right?
And it was it was that car that sparked my interest
in getting the new car, this car.
And I was very excited about trying it.
Yeah, I have not had that chance yet, but you have.
Yeah, a little bit, a little bit.
I mean, you've been driving it for what, 24 hours?
Yeah, it dropped it off less than 24 hours.
So take us through the basic specs of the car.
Well, the basics is so it has the what's called the S58 motor.
So same motor as like the M3.
And this one is 523 horsepower.
So it's actually an M3 CS tune M4 CS.
What was the previous version?
Oh, for something 470.
A lot. Definitely a lot.
But this is more. This is more.
And this is 480 or 479 pound feet of torque.
Now, the one thing you can no longer get a manual.
It's automatic only.
I drove both of your generation.
I like the dual clutch better.
Now, it's an auto. It's not a dual clutch.
But so a lot of people are sad about that.
Did you have the manual gearbox?
Yeah, yeah. And I like it very much.
You'll have that car, right? Yes.
And it's like a terrific.
It's an excellent, excellent car.
OK, this this seemed and again,
I haven't had a chance to like taking on a canyon road.
I got to blast it around Burbank at night last night, which is fun.
Acceleration is wild.
The other thing is
it's so this would be a ten minute rant,
but like German manufacturers are so afraid of diesel gates
that they follow the EU rules for announcing weight in the US.
Right. So they're saying this car weighs 3800 pounds.
This car actually probably weighs 3600 pounds.
So it's not much heavier than the last one.
It's a little bit bigger, but but you know, not not terribly so.
The wheels are awesome.
Is there anything on the exterior styling that differentiates it from the M2?
At least from this angle, I can't quite see the wheels.
And then there's there is an M2.
If Jack, if you go to the snout, if you look at the nostril,
there's an M2 CS badge poking out.
Oh, yeah, there you go.
Yeah. The trunk lid is pretty distinctive.
It's a full carbon fiber trunk lid.
I think the roof and the doors are not the doors of the roof's carbon.
Something else is carbon mirrors or carbon.
So stuff like that, but but the inside,
there's like these light up crazy CS badges on the doors, which are totally weird.
And I think the cars will be on for that, but you can.
It should be open. You can open the door if you want.
There you go.
But yeah, it's a standard BMW cockpit.
No couple.
There's actually Zuckerman you see below the door handle.
I see CS. Yeah.
So when you start the car, that starts going in the M colors.
It changes to like blue and red and okay.
Yeah, I don't know.
I like that.
It's it's different.
It's yeah. Yeah.
My big big in Turkmenistan.

My wife is getting in the car for the first time and she that her eye
caught that as she's getting in, she banged her head because she was staring at it.
That was cool.
But okay, that's it.
That's the way.
And there you go.
Can we get a look at the seats?
Jack, it's got the carbon nut separators, which a lot of people don't like.
They're actually the best canyon seats.
It's a look, you know, you don't I think you never want like a four or five point
harness in a street car.
I think they're horrible.
These do a great job of holding your legs in place.
That little separator thing there.
They're a little uncomfortable around town, but when you're actually on the thing,
they work with this does do real well is it gives you the when you put it into like,
you know, sport mode or sport plus, it gives you the impression that you're
really moving when you're actually pacing a minivan is seven miles, right?
Which is probably good for BMW drivers because I get in this thing
and I literally just start driving like a dickhead.
It's it's that kind of thing.
There's so much torque too.
It's just it's so almost 500 pound feet of torque and a little tiny short
wheelbase thing is fun.
Yeah, yeah, they do the turbo charging well on these cars.
That was something I noticed in the last generation of the of the M2CS.
Just no leg, just instant delivery, gobs it, torque is much power
as you want any any moment.
And this is that a generation up.
Yeah, it's the same.
You know what I mean?
What is this costing us, John?
Well, they didn't have a Montroney.
So this one, the base price is 100.
Actually, it's 102 something.
And I I'm going to guess this has 10 to 15 thousand dollars in options.
Look at that. Look at that fat steering wheel.
It's it looks like it's inflated from the thing.
But like it's balloony.
What was you remember what yours?
The base price was because you bought yours like COVID nonsense.
I seem to recall that the base price of these cars was somewhere around eighty
five, but I could be completely wrong about that.
But that's my recollection.
I think the stick was stick was eighty five and the dual clutch was ninety.
If I right.
And then if you wanted the wheels in there were some other nonsense
you could get that could take you into the hundreds.
Yeah, but I also remember there was so much 80m.
So I was like real the height of COVID.
And there was like I remember we're not yours.
I think my friend Misha 101 it was like the dealer wanted a hundred and ten.
Right.
You know, so that seemed to be the price was about a hundred and five.
Yeah, when it was all said and done with the extras.
If you got the package.
Yeah.
And so who's buying this, Johnny?
What kind of buyer is this love to buy this?

They gave something that isn't going to exist anymore.
This guy touched on something you touch on a lot, which is we're really
giving control of a fleet of cars to another country.
And he said he said that in this hearing.
So they can control cars in the U.S.
from where they are in the Philippines.

But but it touched on this.

Waymo.

know, and it's like mysterious.

But he came and and he then had a tinker with it.

So there's there's scooter mechanics for Waymo floating
apparently apparently yes that I guess the person from Manila
calls the scooter farm in LA and and and then some little guy
rolls up and and does something and take scooter into the
Waymo and gets it to go away after.
Well, let's not just beat up on the robots.
This also happened here in Los Angeles.
This is just a lovely clip of a car losing control and crashing
into a fire hydrant.

Greenlight's Chinese cars.

crazy that soon Chinese cars are going to be sold here in
the United States and that that the American car manufacturer
big trouble.
And now look where we are.
Look at how close we are.
Now, three weeks after I said it, Canada.
The green lights Chinese cars.
What does that mean beginning early 2026 Canada is allowing
the import of 49,000 Chinese made cars soon that will be
rising to 70,000 units.
And it's before long.
Folk a BYD anticipated to be selling cars in Canada before
long, they're going to be here, Johnny, in the US.
Do you know why?
Let me just the simplest thing.
This is the simplest reason.
They're good.
Yeah.
BYD is making great cars and eventually the consumer is going
to go.
I want it.
And you know, again, this is why we were supposed to be
developing electric cars.
And we should not give it another reason.

Mexico, interestingly, though, they love their Chinese cars,
but they just raised their tariff on Chinese cars from 20
to 50 percent.
So that's actually taking out the price advantage.

It's looking like they're not a CEO there.
It's bad for our industry.

So we said, let's create something that is a separate entity from, it's not
a dealership show.
So this is the second year.
So when they come to you, do you guys have a meeting and go, okay, look,
they want us to be an experience more than just a place that sells cars?

Yeah, they did it in San Francisco.

Maybe you weren't here, but there was a, it was this directive from Porsche.
So make the dealership more of an experience, right?
And we have like Santa Clarita, Porsche Santa Clarita, Porsche Clearwater.
They have these great car shoes, cars and coffees and things.
Pilates.
But somewhere they did a Porsche Pilates and they just put out a piece of social
media of a woman stretching on a car.
And we were like, when you were writing for Letterman and somebody pits that,
wouldn't you dismiss that as preposterously stupid?
They wouldn't be pitching that in a letter.
But you don't want to pitch your Pilates.
No, it would be too, yeah.
It's too much.
It's too, it's like, the alliteration of it.
It's just doesn't sound right.
Anyway, so wait, so in your meeting, someone pitched what?
Yoga in the Porsche show.
He said, we don't know.
Hot yoga or just regular yoga?
It would just be, we don't, we can't create the temperature up at all.
So you said, you were there, I'm guessing.

But let's make something that fits our audience a little bit better.

which is also a wedding venue, but it's a former marble quarry.

So we went to one of our office managers and who's Hispanic and I said,
hey, give me some cool Porsche alliteration and Spanish.
And she goes, well, Porsche Platica.
I was like, what does that mean?
She goes, Porsche chat.

It's a great way to kind of sum up the event.
And, and you just went with that.
Yeah, Porsche Platica.
Sure.
We've been corrected on that.
And it works.
I mean, what's the actual pronunciation?
I've been told by my West Coast friends is Platica, but us Rednecks in Tennessee,
we can't pronounce that very well.
So it's so, it's so eclectic in its execution all again.
I mean, this is really where it triggers the writer in me is all of the
elements are not related.
Yeah.
Marble quarries, Porsches.
Yeah.
Platica.
Yeah.
You see what I mean?
Oh, yeah.
And here is related, which makes me like it.
Yeah.
It's inventive and it's new.
So this was last year.
What are, what are we featuring this year?
And this event takes place one May 3rd.
May 3rd, 2026.
So we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 9-11-R.
Okay.
So we have a huge selection of 2016 9-11-Rs.
And we actually have four of the original 20 9-11-Rs committed as well.
There were 24 though.
There were 20 passenger cars and four Protos.
Exactly.
Where are the prototypes?
We talked to one of the guys who's building a prototype last night.
None of the prototypes are coming, but we have some of the, we're working on
number one.
Number one would be cool.
Do you think those are out in, you know, Genpah?
I've driven both of these cars, by the way.
These are, these are two of my favorite 9-11s in the world.
The old and the new 9-11-R.
You, you can't beat these cars.
But I mean, you may not know, but are these prototypes?
Did they stay at the factory?
Or is there, I'm assuming there's one in the museum, right?
They summoned the development drivers, stuff like that.
Like, you know, like Walter Raw famously bought his 9-5-9 development car.
My favorite story is the Steve McQueen.
Now, Bert Ohlander, who worked at Circle Porsche, but was originally at
Fochek Pollock, gave it to Steve McQueen.
He picked it up on a Friday.
He goes, I want you to drive this.
This is in 67.
He came back on Monday, handed them the keys and said,
I will get too many speeding tickets.
I'll get arrested if I buy this car for me.
And in my head, I'm just like, what are you talking about, dude?
Why would you not buy that?
He may not have liked it.
That's a polite way of saying not for me.
Well, if he, you know, to your point, the first time I drove a 9-11-R at
the 67, I was very disappointed because it felt so light and overpowered.
It felt like it was a heavy chassis and engine and then kind of paper
maché on top, you know, and loud and loud, loud, loud, loud.
You know, now, now I crave that car.
I crave it.
Right.
Have you driven one?
I have not driven one.
No, you've driven the 2016.
Yeah.
I have a 2016 that we've tracked and used thoroughly.

Fantastic.
I mean, they're great cars.
No, no, I mean, you know, the first time I drove one, I couldn't
believe what they had put together.
It's, it's, I always, you know, like the GT3, it really is a track car.
You know, it's, they're always thought of for the track to me.
It was like, this is like a factory street rod, like a factory hot rod.
It's just everything you would do to a 9-11 to make it like the best street car.
And I, yeah.
And then also the light fly wheels.
Yeah.

It's worth all the money in the world.

It's the coolest thing.
So are we going to see something big like, you know, should we come?

I think it's always good when an event is just fun.
And, you know, one thing we learned from Looft when they started doing this was just some good music, some great food, just good, a nice vibe, you know, not a lot of judging cars.
And this isn't right.
And it's just a nice, you know, time.
And then whether it's your husband or your wife, everybody has a nice time.
And it's, it's, it's just fun.
Right?
It's not a cars and coffee.
Yeah.
There's no, there's no hoods popped.
There's no guys sitting in lawn chairs.
With cargo shorts?

You kind of wonder.
Two though.
I like, like they're going to show up anyway.

We, it was inexplicable.
There was these two old dudes in Nissan, like 280ZX's.

And they got there.
They didn't talk to anybody who whipped out the folding chairs, sat there.
They had their, their rags.
They had like information about the car.
No one cared.
So, so what it's just a fun hang in the quarry was just hanging out.
It's a social event celebrating water, cold, air, cold, race cars.
I was asking you before the show, where are all these Porsche guys?
Where are they mostly coming from?
You were saying Atlanta?
Uh, well, you know, the majority is within a 200 mile radius.
So Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Virginia area, but we've had people.
I would say you have some Texas in that last photo.
I reckon there's a couple of those.
Texas and there's, there's, we have some people coming from Austria this year flying over.
So, it's a global event.
The Porsche people are great, I think.
Isn't that amazing?

Inside is still has the brown interior, but Michael did a
lot of little special brown bits as well.
So the interior is very tasteful, but a lot of special wishes
on this car.
Did the Pegasus come from Porsche or is that something
he stuck on from Etsy that he found?
That's the mobile one.

Where have they gone up in value now?
So where's the 9 11 are at right now?
They're in the mid fives paint sample versions or million plus.
Really?
Well, they, they, when they first had this car come out, the 9 18 VIPs had the
opportunity to buy them.
Everyone thought this was the last manual portion.
Right.
So they shot up to like a million dollars and then the GT three tourings came
out and I wouldn't realize they're not going away with the manuals.
So they settled down close to down around 200, 250, but in the last since we
announced platica of celebrating them, they've skyrocketed.
Really?
No, they've, they've been coming up over the last markets manipulation.
Well, no, I think it has more to do with the ST and then if the folks that
couldn't get STs, then they went back to the 9 11 are again.
It's really impressed.
There are cars like the GT two RS dove down, you know, and then started
scooting up again.
Yeah.
Is there really that much of a price disparity though in these 9 11
hours, 500 to over a million just for paint to sample?
Well, there's 90 of them are paint sample and, and they initially weren't
going to do the paint to sample in these cars and toward the end, they
were able to get some VIP guys.
They've said, well, I really need a paint to sample.
And then, um, so they started doing most of the paint sample, uh, special
wishes cart with the end of the run.
It's so funny.
Like they just didn't know like the whoever's making the decisions, which
wasn't proven to her, but like he said, Hey, I want to do all of these
with a lightweight flywheel.
Yeah.
The board was like, no, you'll never sell them all.
And he said he had to fight to make a manual only.
And they were like, no, right, right.
And so the take rate was over 90% for the light flywheel.
In fact, most people that got the light, they didn't get it, sent it back
to get the light flywheel.
And then the ST 100% light flywheel.
Yeah.
The dual mass flywheel is probably a 50 to $100,000 value deduct.
And a full 50% of those guys who bought it complained about the noise
of the flywheel is broken.
Of course.
Right.
Bring them in.
Yeah.
No, that's true with the ST.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
They had to, they flew in a mechanic, somebody from Porsche to go, no,
no, this is just what, that's a racing flywheel.
That's what we're supposed to sound like.
Yeah.
These cars are so, you know, what I remember about them is just the
balance between all the systems, like from the stick shift, the break,
the sound, everything is like perfectly calibrated.
It's one of these really perfect things that Porsche has made.
The ST is way more muscular and aggressive.
This thing is down from there and it's just nice.
It's such a nice, unique driving experience that you don't get with the
rest of the 911 range.
It's so funny you say that because I drove a 911 R and ST at the same time
and it was like, yeah, the ST is like, again, nothing wrong with the ST,
but it's bordering on too much.
We're just like the Goldilocks.
Like it really is what I want.
It's just a good street car and steers better than the ST because it has food
and steering and the ST doesn't, you know, so it's, we just need prices to go down
though. How do we do that, Shannon?
How do we price fix at your dealership and get these things cheaper?
Markets and manipulation.
Should we start on the show by saying how poorly they drive?
It's just a waste of money.
Yeah, we could take this one.
They got the end shattering flywheel.
It was very loud.

It was a, it's a unrestored original 911R that he then sold because it was in
its state.
It's they're not the easiest things to drive unless it's a race car.

And it was just like, oh, what, what was there originally was so perfect.

Do we, are we going to have that or, or a faithful restoration that isn't just,
Hey, let's make everything new.
You know, I mean, I think of the four, one is the orange hood car that's in

none of them that are questionable whether it's a real car or not.
The Revs Institute has one.
