You know, we've got a big week coming up here.
You know, I don't know if you know, but a couple of days from now,
Wednesday morning, we've got a lot of them.
We've got some presence coming and we've got Santa coming.
So I hope everybody's out there getting their shopping done.
I know I was earlier this morning.
In fact, I had to text my producer and said,
hey, I am stuck in a line at a store and I just...
I made it. I actually was a little bit earlier than I typically...
Well, usually I'm late.
So early for me is like on time.
But yeah, was here on time today.
But I didn't think I was going to make it.
It was brutal out there, just doing some shopping.
And you know, it's tis the season, right?
So a couple of days, we've got Christmas.
And then next week, we've got New Year's and it's 2025.
I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by.
And you know, you don't realize it.
You just go through the day-to-day operations
and you just don't realize it all of a sudden,
you blink and boom, the year's over.
So it's just crazy.
But would be a good idea if you're looking or thinking about,
maybe a Christmas present for a loved one
or a family member or a child.
Not a bad idea to get their car repaired, right?
So they're going to be in town.
So probably most college students, they're probably in town.
Now would be a great time to think about that car
instead of calling two days before,
you know, my son and my daughter was leaving for school two days.
Can you get them in?
You know, now's the time to do it.
Think about that and just make sure that that car is ready to go back to college.
I know it's difficult.
I know it's challenging to try to get the car out of their control
so you can get it to the repair shop.
But now's the time to start thinking about that.
And again, not that anybody wants to get a set of tires for Christmas.
I know that's not probably what anybody wants,
but some people would probably appreciate it, right?
You might have a friend or a family member or maybe just somebody in your local church
or your local Bible group or whatever your local neighborhood group, what?
And they might not be able to afford some type of repair
or some type of tire repair or replacement.
And it's just, you know, sometimes we get caught up
in giving somebody a present or giving somebody a gift card, right?
But let's think about the, you know, if you see a local member of your parish
that is struggling or maybe, you know, might need some type of car repair
or a free oil change or tires or brakes or something like that.
I think sometimes we don't think about those things.
We think about just giving gifts.
And I understand that putting tires on somebody's car,
it's not like this magical thing and everybody's going to be stoked about it, right?
But it's something that they would greatly appreciate
in the sense that they need that transportation,
they need that vehicle to get to work or to get their children to sports
or get their children to school or something like that.
So just, you know, it's just something to think about.
And it doesn't, it can be any of the listeners, you know,
you don't have to bring it to Donovan's.
You can take it to any of your local repair shops.
But just like, hey, listen, I want to give you a free set of tires for your car, you know,
and I really think that people would appreciate that.
So it's just a thought.
I'm not saying that you have to do it.
It's just a thought that, hey, look, there are when you're maybe racking your brain
trying to figure out what to get somebody.
And if there's somebody that's in need of some type of car repair,
would be maybe a great gift that I think that they would help.
It would definitely help them out.

So especially going into our Christmas or, you know,
we've only got a couple of days left.
So think about it.
And we've already seen a little bit of snow.

Hi there.
I have the weird one of the day.
Okay.
The first one, the first one out of the day too.
Yeah.
I bought a 21 tundra when I knew that they were getting away from the V8.
Why ordered the truck?
Loved it.
I got re-rendered and totalled in 22.
So I negotiated with the insurance company to pay a premium to get me another 21 used,
and I bought it from a Toyota dealer out of state.
The truck had 7900 miles on it, and it was pretty close to what I had.
So did the deal and had the insurance company pay for the premium,
I think Toyota called it platinum warranty on the vehicle,
and got the truck.
Loved it.
Still driving it.
My problem is the first time I took it in for an oil change,
they recorded the mileage, and when I took it in for the second oil change,
it had the truck for over a year now, it had the same mileage.
So the tech said, hey, no problem.
I couldn't figure out how to set the, I thought it was stuck,
the truck or something was stuck.
Tech says no problem, we'll take care of it, bring it in for an electrical.
So I bring it in.
He says, no charge, you've got the platinum service, it won't cost you anything.
I take it in for the electrical, they find out that the truck was originally built in Canada,
traded in in the states, and the dealer in the states that took the truck in, swapped the
kilometer driven chip on the odometer for one in imperial miles.
And in the process, rolled the mileage back.
So not only did I not get a truck with 7900 miles on it,
I got a truck with closer to 40,000 miles on it.
Wow.
I've emailed and called them.
I've been emailing and calling, trying to get a live human for about two months now.
And I can't get anyone.
I've sent paper letters through the mail.
I know they got them.
I, you know, I use the tracking information or whatever.
No one will talk to me.
So I'm ready to go to the next level and that's iron attorney, I guess, and do something litigation-wise.
Is there an attorney or an attorney group in Cincinnati
that specializes in auto title and similar issues that you've ever dealt with?
That's a great question.
And I, no, I, man.
Okay.
So, well, that's, that is, that is, I've never heard that.
That's wild.
I didn't even know it on me, too, brother.
So, so the dealership, so the dealership that you bought it from out of state,
they did the, the chip swap or?
Okay.
And they-
As a matter of fact, the Toyota tech, they apparently have a guy that goes dealership to
dealership that does their electric work.
He was able to pull up and showed me where they changed the chip and where they attempted to
mess with whatever the, the control module is that manages the odometer.
And, oh, it gets better.
When they figured this out, I got billed for the tech time, even though it was a part of
the platinum warranty because Toyota canceled my warranty because they can't verify the mileage.
So I got a bill to find this out, too, in the process.
Oh my gosh, what a, man, that, I'm sorry you have to go through that.
I, I, what a, you know, I have never, ever heard that.
I mean, I've heard people rolling odometers back, but in this day and age with the software
that's out there, you, it's almost impossible, but apparently somebody's figured it out.
So you got, so the truck really has 47,000 miles on it, not 79?
They're figuring it's somewhere that I got the truck, somewhere between 27 and 30,000 miles
based on them, the points that they see in the computer.
And I'm not sure exactly how they did this.
They gave me a printout.
I don't have it with me as I'm driving.
The truck, the odometer reads 79.56.
And now that I think of, once this guy pointed it out on the oil change, I'm like, yeah,
it's been reading that since I got it.
I, you know, I just figured I was screwing up not, not getting it out of trip or something
like that.
So I bought the truck, advertised 7,900 miles on it.
And they think that a year into this, it's closer to 40.
And I, I may have put six or seven on it.
I actually have two trucks.
And so I'm, I'm looking at, I'll have to put a set of tires on it.
That blew me away too.
I'm like, who goes to a set of tires and 8,000 miles?
So that, so I'm looking at depreciation on the mileage, the value is lower.
I paid a premium for this truck to get one of my 8,000 miles on it.
Well, State Farm paid a premium for it.
But you get the point.
Right.
And then I paid like an extra three or four grand State Farm did for this platinum warranty,
which Toyota has now canceled because of the mileage difference.
She's so Pete.
So my total, my total out, I don't know about depreciation on the value,
but I'd say I'm probably out close to $10,000.
Wow.
What, what is the deal?
I'm assuming you've called the dealer.
What's the dealership saying?
I can't get a human to talk to me.
Oh, wow.
I've emailed the salesman that I bought it from.
And then I, about a couple of months ago, I get a random like,
Hey, or have you thought about buying a new truck email from the dealership?
So I get this guy's email address.
I send him a copy of the, of what I sent to the salesman.
Nothing.
I called the dealership.
I got the sales manager and the general manager's information.
I left voicemail on probably five or six occasions for each one of them
and I've emailed both of them.
My last was a, um, a letter and a copy of the information that I got from Toyota
with, you know, the service ticket number and, you know, how they do it in their,
in their computer system.
I sent all of that to them with a, you know, a signature required.
They signed for it and I've called two or three times in the last two weeks,
trying to get someone to talk to me about it.
No one will take my call.
So they've not acknowledged me.
Gotcha.
Um, what, what state, I mean, you don't have to,
what state is this dealership in?
Wisconsin and I'm in Ohio.
Yeah.
Right.
Right.
Absolutely.
Huh.
Matter of fact, I've been in your shop several times.
They're on ridge.
You guys put tires on my F-150 the last time.
Okay.
You go, that's what I figured.
Maybe I give you guys a shot.
I had no clue what the company was managing to call.
Yeah.
I shoot.
I, I, I mean, I've, 25 years of doing this, I've never heard of, I mean, I've seen people
roll like the, you know, the old school Odominers back, but in this digital world,
I've never seen or heard this.
So the paperwork from, the paperwork from Toyota doesn't say odometer fraud,
but the, the service writer at the Toyota dealership basically took me inside and said,
hey, we're not going to write this down, but you probably are going to end up
doing something legal with these people because it looks like what they did was nefarious.
Yeah.
And it's a legit Toyota dealership in Wisconsin.
Man.
It wasn't a biker, pay-per-lot or something like that.
It's a legit dealership.

Man, I tell you what, I mean, even if you brought your car to me and I inspected it, I'll be
honest with you, we would have never been able to catch that because we don't have the
software to get in there and do that.
But how deceiving and it's just, it's why it's important to make sure that when you're
buying a vehicle that you get it inspected.
And it also, well, I'll talk about it in a little bit, but buying aftermarket warranties
as well.
I'm furious with a customer, not a customer, but a insurance company that I'm dealing with
right now, too.
And it's important that you continue to listen to say, you need to hear this because it's
not right to buy aftermarket car warranties and it's not right what Bill had to go through
as well.
So it's important to get these cars inspected, but I'll be honest with you, I don't know
that we would have been able to caught it because we would not have been able to get
into the software and determine that.

it right now, is get on the computer, Google the attorney general's office in the state
of Wisconsin, and file a complaint against that dealership.
And by God, they'll get it straightened out for him.
They'll threaten him and put people in jail because what they did was a criminal activity.
So that's what he needs to do.
If he's listening, contact Wisconsin State Attorney's Office and you can file a complaint
right online.

The problem with the cold air intakes is a lot of times, you know, you're messing with
the mass air flow sensor and, you know, you can get a leak in the system and cause all

It can cause check engine lines and issues.
So, if you want with just a straight up K&N filter change and then the bozel exhaust with
the resonator gone, I think that's where you benefit the most.

Well, that actually helps me out a great deal.

That's the route I was thinking about going exactly what you just told me.

I want to stay away from, you know, the cold air intakes.
But I'll tell you, years ago, I had a Honda Prelude and I went to one of these fast oil
and loop shops and they said, oh, you need a new air filter.
So, they put one in and I'll tell you, it just took about 50% of my power waste in that
little car.
It was fun to drive.
It was fun to drive before I went there and put a...
They probably put some type of cheap air filter.
Who knows?
They might have installed it wrong, but it is really kind of powered down off of it.

Two things.
The legal issue, but the guy in Wisconsin, what you need to remember, that's one of the
blue states.
In fact, I'm not mistaken.
That's where Tim Walls came from.
I would not depend on their reports.
You have a lawyer, a local lawyer, or do it yourself.
You send them saying you've got 30 days to respond or I'm taking you to court in Cincinnati
or whatever city he's in.
You make them come to you and say, we're going to talk about this in front of a local judge.
And oh, it's amazing how these people will settle with you when they find out they're
not going to be able to do anything but get summoned to court.
And you know, Wisconsin's, what, 300 miles away from here, pay a lawyer to come down
here.
They'll settle with you out of court.
I did this with an insurance company.
My mom had a bad insurance problem and the insurance people said, oh, no, we can't settle
with her.
The end result was that was they not only paid my mom's claim, but they also paid me
$500 as a consulting fee just to keep me pursuing them.
But yeah, just sue them locally here in the area.
Don't try to get an attorney in Wisconsin.
The other thing is on the mufflers, I heard you were talking about that.
I've got a very rare Toyota.
It's an 87 Wyon that has that high performance four valve per cylinder, two liter and a five
speed transmission.
When I got the car, it had about 200,000 miles on it and I had a, somebody put a core
rare turbo, turbo, turbo muffler on it, which is cute, but it's noisy.
I did some praying, a lot of people don't want to hear that, but I had to do this thing.
I went underneath the car and made it the space that I could have a muffler put in.
I then went to the muffler catalogs.
It's a local car dealership, excuse me, the parts company and said, what have you got
here in, this was a 2019, 2020, 2021 muffler.
I got the highest performance, quietest muffler I could for, I think it was a Cadillac, but
it was a 2021 model muffler being put on a 1987 car.
The new mufflers have all of the built in tricks that most of these high performance
mufflers do, but they're made to be quiet.
So this was a single inlet, dual outlet muffler.
It was about twice the size of the turbo muffler that I took off of there.
Then I added two of those little resonator tips, got them from all the zone or something,
and welded them on.
Don't put them all at the bolt, so you'll find them lying by the side of the road like
I've seen another one lying there.
You put them on and then have somebody tack weld the thing right up against the muffler.
When I did that, the car got way more power, and it was actually quieter than what I took
off of there.
So I'm getting better mileage, better power, and what I did was put a stock muffler, but
it was for a bigger car, like one of those big 390 or whatever cubic inch engines versus
my little 91 CC engine, you know, whatever it is, pardon me, 2000 CC, 91 cubic inches.
But that's what worked for me, and I got the high performance, but without all the rocket.

Yes, a friend of mine was telling me that the unleaded 88 is a lot better than the regular
87 and the medium 89 and the premium 93.
Are those made for certain cars or for or or certain engines?
It's a blue hose at the gas stations.
Well, I don't know.
Well, I've never what I've never seen a blue hose.
You're talking about
there's the 85, which is the yellow cap and the yellow hose.
And right next to that is the blue hose with 88.
And then next to that is the stuff that we all use 87, 89 and 93.
I'll be honest with you.
I never seen a blue.
I mean, obviously the 85 is ethanol that I mean, some cars,
yeah, you can't put that in every car.
But the blue hose, what part?
I don't I mean, I've only I've only seen 87, 89 and 93.
OK, I mean, Thornton's, Casey's, they've got them.
I need to pay attention more.
I've never seen that.
But OK, I've never seen that.

I mean, as far as you're eight, you know, obviously, you have to make sure,
obviously, if your car is gasoline, you don't use diesel, right?
And then if your car is not qualified to have the 85, but as far as 88.

But anyways, OK, it shouldn't be an issue.
I I've never I've had this conversation multiple times.
I've never seen somebody's car break down or prematurely break down or there being an
issue because of the fuel that they used in the sense that as long as it's unleaded, right?
You got to make sure your car takes 85, you can put it in there if it takes diesel.
But as far as 88 and.
OK, I don't think you're going to have it.

I'm a long time listener to the car show on Saturday and I have an Acura 2007 PSX and I
brought it has 259,000 miles and I brought it to your shop a short time ago.
I don't know if you remember me or not.
I do.
It's a white car.
It had like 250 or 230,000 miles on it.
259,000 and I had all kinds of trouble with an F-CAN failure and all kinds of communications
that were showing on the display, TSP, TSPM issues.
Kind of the display was acting like an alternator was going out.
And my regular my regular mechanic, he did not have all the diagnostics that he needed.
And I had called you on the phone.
And once again, you don't know me from Adam.
I call you and I share with you what's going on.
And you say, let me just look into it a little bit.
And then the following day, you and I communicate once again and we talk about it.
And you're still really not sure what the problem is.
And then you say, I'll get back to you.
And what you did was you did a bunch of research.
And that's what the listening audience needs to know about the call today.
You went out of your way.
You went the extra mile from me and you found out what was wrong with my car.
I ordered the part that was necessary off of Amazon.
I brought the car over to your shop and you worked on it.
You had it for three or four days, if I recall.
And you and a number of your technicians had driven it around.
I called you on a Friday and you said, hey, let me keep it over the weekend.
And you come back on Monday.
And I came in on that Monday and I said, what do I owe you?
And you said, well, listen, take it home.
And this is what's really unusual and that your listeners really need to hear.
This is unbelievable.
And I will continue to bring my cars to you because of this.
You said to me, take it home.
I didn't pay anything at that time.
Take it home, drive it, make sure that it's fixed correctly, and then get back to me.
And that's what I did.
And I'll tell you what, that car has been driving magnificently.
I'm a nut about my car.
The communications on the car from the repair are perfect.
The car is running like a gem.
I've got $259 on it right now and I will keep it for a long time to come.
For those of you out there who are listening to the car show today,
I'll tell you what, you want to go to a place that is clean.
You want to go to a place where they have professionals in the office.

Would it be better to get the Delco injectors or like I said, the echelons from Napa?

Are you going to do the work yourself?
Yeah.

And I tell people every time, if you're doing the work yourself,
you're already saving a tremendous amount of money, right?
So, spend the money and get the quality, especially an injector.
If it was like brake pads or an air filter, no, you don't need an AC Delco.
You're talking about a fuel injector, get the AC Delco, get the original equipment.
Yes, it's going to cost you a little bit more, but you're doing it yourself.
You're already saving money on the labor and the diagnostic and everything else.
So, buy the Delco.

you know, you could run into the issue where, you know, you could have a brake
caliper or something that's hanging up or low tire pressure.
That can cause, you know, bad fuel economy as well.
I mean, don't rule that out.
Well, I already put on new brake calipers on it when I bought the truck because...

It was an old county truck and it was, you know, like one of those female drivers where
the disc wasn't turning anymore because it wore through to the fins and broke free from the hub.

Of course, it's a rotary convertible and I haven't driven it.
It's been sitting in the garage for about three years.
It has about, you know, 40, 45,000 miles on it and I'm ready to pull it out of the garage and,
you know, drive it around a little bit.
And I'm wondering what I need to do to not damage it when I start it back up.
Well, that's a great question.
I mean, to be honest with you, is the gas been in there?
So the gas hasn't been changed in three years?
That's correct.
Okay.
I mean, personally, I wouldn't try to start it.
I think you might cause yourself some headache.
What I would recommend is it getting towed to a repair shop, draining the gas, and then with
the rotary engine, I mean, there's a certain way that those things have to be typically what we
would do because when Mazda brought that rotary engine back, they would have all kinds of starting
issues and you literally would have to take the spark plugs out, fill the engine with transmission
fluid to try to get that thing going.
I personally wouldn't try to start it.
I would get it to a reputable car shop and get the gas out of there and try to do new spark
plugs and then probably fill those cylinder holes with... I'd get it to a reputable shop.
