Massive, massive story for Sunday, so I mentioned it to Ed during the break. But obviously it was the return

of the IT was the return of the political sun Tyrone.

But also bigger news than that was Adrian bought himself at S 54. Yeah, I am almost passing out in

shock from that, just like now. My first question to Matt was S

54, is it? I'm thinking is that a is that a

like a Nissan engine? What is that?

And he's like no, no, that's the M3 motor.

I'm like ah OK, I should know that being an XBMW person, but I never knew the code of it. So this is a 3.2 liter straight

6 proper. 46M3 engine correct. Well he was showing he was

showing us in on on the chat and basically it looked like it was just a bit like a bare long motor.

So had hadn't you know no Itb's or anything.

It was just the motor by itself. So so he's like it came out of a

car with 60,000 K on it and how do?

We know that. Any proof?

Yeah. And and I was like to like,

yeah, how do we want, how do we know that to?

My grandma finds it. Yeah.

And he's like he's like, look I'm not going into the car until I put a new set of Rd. bearings in it.

Make sure it's all good. I said to him can you please

put, can you please get it done by like professionally because you don't want to screw that up especially with those tolerances on those motors. He's like, no, no, I'll do it.

I'll do it. I'll do it.

I'm like well you know don't don't say it in warn you so so yeah he's he's probably he's probably putting that in as we speak the speedways not on always like you said.

It turns over like it turns freely and that sort of thing.

Well, I didn't ask you that again, It's Adrian.

So we'll just assume that's for the best.

It is a long motor though. It's like head on block and all

of that. Yeah, Okay.

Yeah. It's a full long motor.

So that's so long. Is it coming?

Compression tested? I don't know.

Far too sensible, Scotty, far too sensible.

You know how Asian works. He just sends it and he's like,

Yep, that'll do. Should be right?

My fingers are crossed for him like mine are too.

I actually hope this this matter actually works out well for him.

Because you know, he did have quite bad luck with this previous matter. But again, kind of like that

whole buyer beware issue again arises.

You can't just on that question, compressions, you can't compression test an engine that's not.

In a car, obviously you can't. Yeah, Well, I mean.

You've got to be able to crank them over to compression testing. Yeah, I mean there'd probably be

a way to crank it over. I'd say you know hooking the

hooking like a what's called a starter motor to like a like to the back of the the back of the fly wheel and just just try to turn it over like with the 12 Volt.

You know, jumped on it. Yeah.

Yeah, you could probably, Yeah, Yeah, because I've seen people start motors like that. Oh yeah, yeah, you can.

You can start it outside the car if you hook up all the right stuff. Yeah, you'd have to do the same

thing and get it cranking over its speed to build that compression on. OK, well, this is giant news.

I'm still. That's why I'm sitting on the

floor tonight. I'm in shock.

Exactly. Having it, having it actually

running in his car will be, yeah, a bigger, a bigger step than that, yes. I mean, we've been talking about

that ever since I've known you guys, which is quite a while.

I've seen the garden art before, You know, I've seen, I've seen planter boxes and things in gardens that sort of resemble that car. So Yep.

And he's got a hard top with it as well, so.

That's quite rare to have the hard top.

I think he bought the hard top separately from memory and yeah, so like he found one and he just bolted it on.

So it seems pretty good. What color is that car?

It's like a dark blue, OK? And the hard top, is that the

same color or black, I think it is the same color actually.

Yeah, I mean, I haven't seen the car in geez 2 years now, so it's probably hard to hard to tell. But yeah, fingers crossed by

Adrian, hopefully that that all works out well for him.

Hopefully it's hopefully it's it's a good motor and he didn't get screwed again, but we shall see.

Yes, your car updates so Ltd is into is getting serviced currently and it's getting the front brake looked at because it was quite quite noisy. I mentioned this on the Sunday

show, but I'll. I'll let you guys know so that

that's that's getting done. They're going to look at the air

con system, see if it's if it's stuffed.

If it's stuffed, I'm not going to bother with it.

If it's if it just needs a regas, then yeah, regas is a regas and be ready to. More money on the Ltd that you

shouldn't own. Edit we.

Hey, it's a running, driving car that's on the road roadworthy for under 1000 bucks. I mean, I'm not complaining with

that, to be honest with you. Trying to sell.

If I get a good offer for it on SO I'll sell it.

I've been playing around with the suspension in the in the files. So just just you know, adjusting

the firmness to see where I kind of like it.

It was a bit too firm and I've loosened that up a little bit.

Now I'm finding that it's really it just, it just rides the bump so much better. So it's even hakon the the guy

that that installed him. He is his own brand of coilover,

OK? Cool.

Yeah. So, so like, I've sorry.

How do you spell Hakon HAKOM. So I've I've been adjusting with

the firmness of the coilovers and it I found it, it was.

I mean, it was fine. Like I was happy to drive it as

it was but you know just just to just to see if I can get that bit more compliance without losing that the sense of driveability that it's that it's got now I think I've got the sweet spot in the front end and now the back end of them do a little bit more tweaking just just probably just play with a little bit more get a bit more but I'll I'll take you on the on the on my favorite Rd. a few weeks ago with my brother it's

like I found it it's it's set up beautifully now I'll have to I'll have to get you to have a driver and and Scott next time I see you guys like now that it's all sort of with the sway bars it's a different car it feels good it feels tight it feels it feels like it's it's really planted So this weekend I might put on the other set of wheels I've got see I see how I go which. What other for the wheel?

Yeah. So my mate with the WRX which is

like one of the cleanest ones in Victoria.

He had a set of rotor grids with brand new re 003 Bridgestones on there and he probably put 1000 K probably put like 1000 K's on them like the ties are like perfect and he's like do you want to set up wheels for your Forester.

I'm like I'm not really in like looking up you know buying anything for it at the moment. I'm just you know I've got other

stuff to worry about He's like no just taking he's like like they're taking up space and I'm like I wasn't gonna I wasn't gonna take it but when I saw they had fresh rubber in the in the tires on the forester nearing their their marking points. I'm like you know what I'll take

them and and just run them for a bit and they're in 18 not a 17.

So they're you know they should have a little bit less side will flex and even Reid and Hakon was saying with that little bit less sizable flex that the car should handle that that a little bit more better. What I feel is in terms of the

in terms of the tire which is pretty good you.

Put those rims on when you and Luca went for the drive.

So I want to put these, put these on, and then go again and see. See how much of a difference

that maybe makes. After that, and it should be

good. You'll be happy to know the

territory sold to Edward. Oh.

So it's going in tomorrow to get all sussed, shouldn't need much and I think it's got new tires on it and everything, so it should be should be created. So, so yeah, that one.

Forester Typhoon, I've been driven and Merck I haven't driven since since the last day I drove it which was to which was with you Edward on that on that drive day.

It's good I told you it's got the indicator back on it now so that that's all good. I got that for a good that for

steel. Yeah that's pretty much it on my

end pretty much it. What about you guys?

When's. The last time the typhoon's been

driven, I drove it probably a couple of weeks ago.

I drove it to work a couple of times and then also to take it.

I think I drove it into the city for a run, just went around the city and came back. Yeah.

So, yeah it's it's still good it's still it's really good that Carl it's it starts first go doesn't cause any doesn't cause any dramas quite. It's quite a easy car to drive

and you know, it's very comfortable and you know what's?

A bulletproof. Yeah.

Yeah they are. So like, I mean not really much

goes wrong with them to be honest with you like and everything that does get go wrong like those DIF pushes have been sorted and the tail shafts been sorted.

So yeah it's it's it doesn't really need to be worried about which is which is good. I mean and and again, like I

said, I haven't lost any money in that car.

So if anything I'll make money on it and yeah, I'm happy to keep that for for as long as I need.

Good. It's good to go car place with

you. Did you charge your battery this

week? Is it as well or?

Yeah, I started on the weekend just buying first go.

It fires up straight away. Hell yeah.

That just. Yeah, and it idles smoothly,

just holds Revs and just stays there.

Oh, and the petrol gauge decided to work for a bit too.

That's pretty good. I actually had all the gauge is

working and then the oil pressure 1 decides to stop working. Usually you just give punch and

it works. But yeah, petrol gauge was

working for a bit, so there's over 1/4 of a tank in there supposedly. Nice.

Which is interesting because yeah, I didn't have a clue.

All I know I put like 20 something liters in it and I didn't know where it was at before that.

Why are these gauges so haphazard?

Is it? Is it like do you have to pull

out the cluster and some sort of connector behind it or solders or something? Yeah.

So you can take it to someone that will refurbish it.

It's. Pretty common for all of them to

start to fail and not working and needing a good hit for them to come back alive again, so pretty common.

With fuel gauges in cars that don't get used enough you know when you when you run your fuel gauge down to empty and you fill it up and obviously the float in the tank will go.

You know floats up and down with the with the level of fuel, but I find they can sometimes get a bit stuck.

And I've had gauges that will only, you know, you feel it right up and it only goes to 3/4.

But then after a few tanks, it'll go right back up to full again and show you full. And I'm assuming that's

something to do with the float in the tank, I'm assuming.

But they seem to come well, I've had a couple that have come good with a bit of use, but yeah, there's a few that haven't.

And we'll only ever show 3/4 full when they're full full.

Yeah, I had that issue with the Merc, so the actual sending the sending unit was completely like shot.

So I. Had to get, So what would that

gauge do? What would that show you?

It showed me just half. It was constantly half.

Oh, it wouldn't. That's right.

It wouldn't go up or down or anything.

Just half, Yeah. You're just half so.

Are mine still blue? Fuel efficient?

Yeah, what was that? Pretty fuel efficient.

It's always half doesn't use any fuel mode.

That's. When you ran out, wasn't it you

ran out in what you were saying a few weeks ago on the way back to the airport or something. Yeah.

So my uncle's, my uncle's like to me, I can borrow your car fuel. Yeah, no worries.

I'm like because the gauge doesn't work.

So just just just make sure every time you go put some fuel in it and drop it off to the He meets me at the airport Drop, drop, drop him off. I go to go to drive to the to

the radio station. It runs out of petrol.

So I'm like, ah lovely. It's funny because I was, I was

going uphill and downhill and as soon as I as soon as I was going up the hill, it started to clunk out, leveled out, started off again, went back downhill and died again.

So. So, like, Yep, Yep, it's, it's

out of. Fuel that is.

That'll do it. That'll do it.

So that was the first time I've ever actually ran out of fuel in a car. It was, it was a weird

sensation. It was like and just taught it

to die. And I was like, oh, the

coronavirus. And then then it legit died.

So. I think I'm not.

I think most people have at some stage run out of fuel.

Particularly in older cars, you know, if you get around in everything modern and it bings at you 100K to empty, 50K to empty, you know that you get a lot of binging.

But in older cars where it's a bit, you know, you think, oh, how much have I got to go on the light or you know, when it gets like my Mini, when it gets down near empty, well, you know, yeah, it's pretty low and you can.

I'd ran out in that canal once. See the Ltd man.

I'm telling you, it tells you it tells you when you get 80 KS to go. It tells you when you've got 40

KS to go. Yeah.

How accurate is that 2020 KS? My friend had a VR Calais and

that told him he had 18 KS to go when he was on the top of the West gate and he didn't have 18 KS to go.

It died not that far after that, and he coasted into the fuel station, but he made some. People let it go so low.

I do mind like 1/4 of a tank. I'm like, Yep, needs to be

filled up and I'll. Go more than 1/4, I like to run

it right down there, but no, not not not to.

Not to crazy levels. Remember once we we in the

territory we had it on zero on the range and like we couldn't find any any any purchases like screw just keep drum until it dies. And it I mean, I mean made it

for like another 13 KS. And it's also a bit deceptive

like when when when fuel lights come on, you know normally when a when a fuel reserve warning light comes on, you've got 6789 and in some kind of sort of up to 10 liters.

Left which is if you think, OK, my car does 10 liters per hundred which is you know pretty good reasonable economy.

There's a hundred KS you've got on that light.

So people, you can often go a lot further on a on a light.

Not that I'm condoning this, but you know, if you have to then you think, you sort of think all the lights come on off.

I'm out. I've got to blow over.

But you might have done 50K100K. Didn't Cosmo Kramer do that in a

saw? Yeah, yeah.

They went on Seinfeld he he was he was on a test drive and the guys like we need fuel. He's like, Nah man, Nah man,

keep keep pushing it. And he got the needle way below

empty and they were like film and Louise like in the end taking taking this out of the absolute limit of of its fuel.

Yeah. So you know, that happens, you

know, I know, I know when the Ltd is getting really low though, because like you can hear the the, the pump in the tank. Oh, like a bit noisier.

Yeah. Like, well, OK, well, when I

hear that, I'm like, yeah, I've got to put some fuel in now, but. I used to go to uni with a guy

who had a Golf like a Mark 1G76 sort of modeling A2 door.

It was quite a fun little car. He would never put more than $5

worth of fuel in it, which back then?

In the late 90s, got you a bit of fuel.

More than that. But he would never put more than

5 bucks in it at a time. And so every time I went in the

car, he's like, off. I've got to get fuel.

And I was like, imagine the liberation you would feel filling it up and how far you could go without worrying about fuel. But every time it was like, oh,

Ed, I'll pick you up. We'll go to Macca's, OK?

Oh, we've got to get fuel first. Or Ed, I'll pick you up and

we'll go to under the movies. I got to get fuel first.

It drove me insane. I could never understand it, I

said. I said why don't you lash out

and put like 15 bucks in like that might do you like 4 days or wow. It's just I never got to the

bottom of it, why he did that, but that's how he operated. 5

bucks in time Luca's girlfriend's dad is very much just saying he never puts more than 10 bucks in a car and he and he never has. And and like my mom asked him,

like, why don't you, why don't you do that?

He's like, oh, don't need to just just put as much as I need to get to give me where I need to go.

Well, I'm just thinking all the the amount of time that he'd have to stop and fill up every single time.

Painful. Yeah, it's.

Having to fill up too. Oh, you'd be constantly

searching for Servo. My mum was saying today she's

got the 520 diesel and she said she's still on the same tank from early March before Corona here, you know, and she's still got half a tank. I said that's been, I mean that

car does 1200 K to a tank, you know.

So she's obviously only done about 600 KS since early March, which is phenomenal. Yeah.

So she might work through to August or September at this rate. Mate, but they work.

It's the apocalypse. Diesel should be right.

Yeah, exactly. But those BMW diesel, they were

pretty frugal, weren't they? Like they they did, yeah.

Well that that car, it's just the baby.

It's the two liter diesel, you know, six people.

It's a, you know, it's a medium sized car.

So it's not not a super lightweight, you know, I don't know what it'd weigh, but it'd have to be sort of 1400 kilo or something 15K. It'd be more than that.

At least 60. You'd be closer to 15-16 hundred

surely? Yeah, it might be that, but that

car has constantly its whole life average of about 5.6 liters

for 100. Jesus.

Which is, yeah, really very good for a car of that size.

I mean, it's good for any car, but let alone a sort of a luxury car of that size, I suppose. And that's one of the benefits

of, yeah, driving an old BMW diesel, aside from any other repairs, is great deal economy. So has that been a reliable car,

though? It has.

It's been very good. Had this conversation with

someone the other day. That car has only ever had oil

and filter changes. Like mind you I get that done

every seven and a half thousand K like the recommendation is right once a year or 15 roughly. So I just halved it and it just

gets oil filtered every 7 1/2. So it's whole life it's had that

it's had. The transmissions are meant to

be sealed for life in those, but I reckon that's a crock of shit and most service technicians will tell you the same thing.

So we had that done at 90 and then I'm going to do it again at the next service. Now it's on 185, so it's going

to have a yeah, just a transmission flush.

So we've never done a turbo, we've never done a transmission, never done anything to do with the motor other than and this is, this is a fairly big one, but it was a warranty thing at the time. The timing chains on those

engines are at the back of the engine.

So when the timing chain guide rails get a little loosey goosey after a few few thousand KS, well we're talking like 100 and something thousand KS. I think it was about 100 hundred

and 1000 and 20,000 KS somewhere there it just got, you could hear it was a little bit noisier in the in the timing chain on the in the ratliness of the motor than it should have been.

And there was a campaign at the time from BMW that they were doing those where there's a 320DA520D, an X32 liter diesel.

They were doing those timing chains under warranty and the tensioners because they were a faulty tensioner, you know that didn't didn't last the life of the car like they should.

So yeah on any other car you pull off the front of the motor and you put a timing chain and you put it all back together and it's not that bad from the five series because the timing chains at the back you have to pull the motor out.

That car had the entire engine out, had a brand new timing chain, brand new timing chain tensioners with the modified part all put back together again, thanks very much and now that was all under warranty at the time, but they were BMW were only doing that in a certain window.

So we kind of luckily were in that window and got that done.

But there were cases, the reason they're doing it, there were cases where timing chains would snap because the tensioners would get so bad timing chain snaps, bye bye.

That's your whole engine gone 15 grand later.

So you know, any of my, my advice to anyone, you know, looking at one of those old diesels would be see if that's been done to it. And if not, you know, maybe

consider, yeah, consider that into your purchase price, because otherwise you're driving around a bit of a time bomb if that hasn't been done. So this is like the Audi V

eights then? Yeah, I think it's seemingly

it's not uncommon with European more modern cars that like the timing chains themselves are fine.

I believe it's these stupid plastic tensioners.

That, yeah. It's not saying why they keep

using the plastic for oh God, it's like they're not up to the task of, you know, lasting the life of a timing chain.

I mean a timing chain typically should last three hundred 400,000 K you should do before looking at a timing chain.

You know, like I have seen some cars with that sort of mileage and OK, they genuinely are due for a timing chain, but it's not something you worry about to sort of, you know, 3-4 hundred thousand K, you know, but these little plastic tensioners, no good. Yeah, they just replace them

again with other plastic ones. Yeah.

Well, in this case, in the beam case, as far as I'm aware, they're more modified. They were a modified part A.

Little stronger than the original, but yeah, if you're putting the same thing in again, it's going to happen again.

Because I'm pretty sure that's all Audi did.

They haven't upgraded anything with theirs.

It's just the same plastic things, plastic runners you put in there and which is shit. And finally in our. 10 or might

not. When we had our Merc 380SE that

was an 84 all that or you know 3.8 V 8 and the Merc specialist

we used to take that to, he manufactured his own timing chain guide rails and he said here these are the factory.

He said every car I get in that's a 380 because it's common. They can, they can snap bits of

plastic fly around your motor and they can skip teeth and screw your whole engine. And it was common enough that he

yeah he went out of his way to manufacture his own.

So he said, every car I start to service, I recommend you do this and you'll never have a timing chain issue.

So we had that done, which is really.

You know, that was cool. That wasn't mega marks.

It was relatively easy. And yeah, save the timing chain,

save the tensioners and never touch any of it.

Yeah, interesting though. It just bogs the mind where they

use plastic components inside of an engine where it gets hot oil.

You know, it's just it's it's it's to save $0.20 per car.

You know it's. Pretty much.

I mean. Gotta be to save money and

that's it. I mean it's the bean can is

really there that are that are doing that.

So that's. I mean, it's the same thing like

European cards are synonymous for this.

Like, especially with BMW. I'm a lot picking on BMW here,

but like Volkswagens, I've heard of it too.

Timing. Chain.

But the cooling systems as well and like on BMW's that they're known to just fail miserably. Like fail horribly.

You know you need to replace radiators, what's called expansion tanks, everything, because it was just plastic and they just crack and break and. Well, you see, they're using

like plastic plenums now. Yeah, yeah, crazy.

So I don't know how long they'll last.

Surely over time that'll get for it all.

I mean, radiators have been plastic for a long time, haven't they? Yeah, well the intact's usually

usually plastic on the new cars, but like, yeah, it's it's bloody weird. Like, you know, like you have to

think the heat cycle's on, off, on off, on off, on off.

It just it just it just ruined them.

Like I know with the laser when I had my last time dot done my mechanics like to me he's like look your timing the actual the timing case cover is starting to get brittle and just just from just from the you know how bazillion heat cycles it's had And it's like it's like I recommend, you know I recommend you change it. It was only like 120 bucks for

for you know for the top and bottom part.

I'm like, we'll change it both just just do it.

Yeah. And then I was fine.

But you know, like I was like, that's a plastic part.

Surely that you know they'll have to say, hey, these cars are getting turned off, turned on, turned off, turned on on numerous occasions. The amount of heat so that those

cars go through, it's going to have an effect on longevity.

You know it's they'll be like, oh, it only has to last three years or 100,000 KS again and Warren is over, so don't have to worry about it. I think that's I think that's a

bullshit excuse to to do that to be honest with you.

I don't know like they'll be saying.

Okay. It's it's to say it's to save

weight and then you know efficiency and blah blah blah blah, blah. But also you need to think of

longevity and you need to think of where the car's going to end up in the future. If it's going to end up with

with some poor family, that's that's going to have to change it in, you know, inlet planner, which is just insane like that.

Or just the plastic would just crack and break.

Stupid. It's dumb.

And then what do you do when they don't make these parts anymore? They're screwed.

Throw the Cannar away. That's.

It, yeah. The car's just big apart.

A. Few weeks ago.

So a friend of mine, friend of mine, sent me this little meme of the life cycle of an E60 BMW. And I just had four pictures.

The first one was like 2 doctors, like husband and wife, sort of doctors with their stethoscopes, you know, that's owner #1. The second owner was a guy

carving like made off a kebab thing, like he's a kebab shop owner. The third one was a guy in a

hoodie just with the wads of cash in his hand.

The drug dealer #3, then, then number four, was some sort of ethnic individual with he's got the biggest wheels you've ever seen on this car, like Chrome wheels on it, you know?

And I was like, you know what? That is pretty damn accurate.

And so I said I'm trying to work out where my mum fits in this range and it's like, well, she's not a doctor, but nor does she own a kebab shop. She's somewhere halfway between

1:00 and 2:00. She's not ethnic enough to be a

kebab shop owner. So I was like, that's so

accurate Anyway, so we'll see how long that car runs for Matthew. It'll be an interesting little

test. Well, I mean, how long do you

guys have that for now? Oh, like 12 or 13 years.

OK, we got it. We got it when it was six months

old and had done 8000K because it was an XBMW head office car that I bought before I left. So that was, yeah, so it's an

07. We got it in somewhere mid 08.

So what's that 18/19/20? Yeah, 12 years or something

we've had, yeah. Anyway, we'll see if we get to

200,000 and go from there. No, I mean it should like from

all accounts that these aren't on that the motor's very healthy and incredibly punchy for two liter brilliant on fuel as we said like really that other than that preventative timing chain tensioner issue, we've just done normal servicing on it.

It's it's never done, never put a foot wrong anywhere else.

So it's not on run flat tires. It's like it's the only model

that had came with the 16 inch pissy little wheels, but they're normal tires so the tire's achieved.

The ride's better than the firmer run flats that they had at the time. So really other than that

there's been zip, you know, and normally I'd be very wary about keeping a car like that out of warranty, but that one, and it helps if you have someone good to service it.

Like I go to a I got a guy that takes BMW that runs his own shop and he looks after me. I've known him for years and you

know, you know that he will always not overcharged and not do stupid things to it. They're only doing.

But by and large, yeah, it's been, it's been great, very cheap car to run. I mean the ECG costs a lot of

Flack for being you know, the crappy 5 Series, the one that reduced it, but I think a lot of that's come come from like people owning M5S. The V10 S, well, they sound

amazing that the rod bearing issues and stuff are quite well known. I think if you had a 530I or

A523I or A525 sort of thing or 530 days, I'll even those those more normal engines. I haven't heard anything

horrific about those. You know if it's a V8 petrol

you'll do some stuff as with all being V8 petrols, but but any sort of diesel or smaller six, I think you're all right with it.

Again, it's like I've been watching a lot of stuff on on those, but that era BMW, VA like and still they're having issues with them with you know with the valve stem oil seals and just like they're just like a 54554 fives I think, yeah, yeah, I think they they were prone to more issues.

Not, not. The rest of the car still looks

all right. You know, the paint and the

leather and everything, that's all holding up very well.

You know, the head up display has always worked and yeah, nothing's, nothing's gone wrong with that car.

Really. Oh, we had one tail like cluster

that was faulty and something burnt out in it.

So we had that replaced. But other than that, nothing.

Just that timing chain preventative thing really, which was about 7 grand worth of work at a BMW workshop.

But you know, warranty, warranty.

Long after the car was out of warranty, that was still warranty. So that was good.

That's pretty good. That's actually good that they

honored that. So yeah, yeah, only for certain

batches that were within certain VIN ranges, they reckon.

But I think they'd seen enough timing chains come in and snap and owners just munting their entire motors that they they were like, OK, got to do something with this.

Yeah. But it doesn't use oil doesn't.

You know it doesn't do anything nasty, but nor has it had a particularly hard lock like 185,000 K But it's it's done a fair whack of Hwy. Yeah.

And still does. So it gets the DPF, you know,

that clogged up at about 110,000 K but we didn't replace it at 3 grand like BMW wanted you to do. We just had it cleaned out.

You know. And and a guy I've talked to

before with the European workshop said he's never replaced a DPF on a beam or a Merc or anything.

He's always only ever cleaned them out properly and put them back on. So no, not really.

No. That cost bugger all.

A few 100 bucks and we had that done 110,000, it's now 185.

So it hasn't hasn't blipped, you know, no sign of BPF anything for that. Yeah, now we've got to

disappear, don't we, Matt? We do.

I had the two Renaults backed in next to each other, the 69 with the metal grill and then the 75 with the plastic grill and the high back seats. And I thought I'd just take a

go to Vicroads in order to get my club place, which would be good. Then I can drive that car around

a little more. What else can I take?

Oh, the Pajero, When I got it, the winch, the electric winch on the front of it wasn't connected up, which is just like a, you know, something you put on one of your battery clamps.

That's all it needed. And so I had never tried the

winch. You know, the previous owner

told me that he tried it when he bought it and but he didn't need it connected so he left it off sort of thing.

And I was like, oh, I want it connected on.

So yeah, I just connected that on and got the little remote control thing that plugs into the top of the winch and it's got like a handgun that you can do forwards and backwards and you just didn't want it out. It all works fine.

I was like, good job done. Now the winch works.

So that's the car update. What else is the car update?

Don't think anything else. Oh, I did have a look.

I did have a look the other day. I got a tip off on a class W 220

like the one I used to own, and I just went through a little look at it. It's an S320.

It doesn't have any extra options on it.

One own 136,000 K's. So you know, pretty good K's

good you. Do like a 220, don't you?

We do like a 220. Now, this is not a car for me to

keep, but I thought it might be a car that I, you know, buy and sell through the trader's license.

And I yeah, it's a little bit rough in the body, you know, not, not unfixable, but few scratches here, a few scuffs here, a few little shopping trolley Dings here.

Front lift panel's got a Ding, front lift window wasn't working. Like there's just a hand on an

airbag, lights on, you know, handful of things that you go to fix all of that. They're just not worth a lot of

money, those cars now. So if it was cheap enough, maybe

I've got a friend that might be interested in it.

So we're sort of arming an houring about whether it's the right car for him, you know, just as a cheap driver, that's what he wants, which it's more, it fits that better.

You know, if you're prepared to just get it on the road, get it right where you drive it and enjoy it and then fix things gradually, that sort of makes sense.

But in terms of me going, I've got to fix this, this, this, this and then I'll sell it. It's, yeah, it's not a great

proposition for that. But were they asking?

Well, they didn't really know though.

Kind of humming, but you know, I think it, I think, I think if it was Immaculate and roadworthy and registered and ready to go, that car would be 7 1/2. You know?

I don't think it's much more than that, even even though the K's are reasonable. That's such a lot of car for the

money though, isn't it? It's a lot of car.

I mean when you think about my V8, that was stunning with half the K's and better options. I got 13 1/2 for that.

Now you know in my mind it should be worth more, but the reality is it's not worth more. So if that's a 13 1/2 grand car,

then I think this is a 7 1/2 grand car being a six cylinder, not a V8 and less options and you know, not as mint.

So it is a hell of a lot of car for the money and I think it's for an enthusiast who wants to drive around in something a bit nice and doesn't mind fixing it and getting bits from wreckers here and there. Well then that's a great, it's a

great idea. So I did go and have a look at

that, but no, I don't think anything anything else.

Oh I've broke it, a couple of deals, you know, like helping friends find a few cars and things.

So I hope one friend find an MX5 like an original like mine.

So he's picking that up this week and helped another friend find an Audi. Audi, normally I wouldn't

recommend an Audi, but this was the one owner.

My friend's dad had it A46 cylinder turbo diesel with a six feet normal auto, which is apparently the boater and box that was in the toir eggs. And because it's 600 diesel

because it's the six feet normal order, apparently they're good.

Whereas the multitronic CVT transmission in those Addis was awful and the 2.7 liter diesels and the other engines were

pretty bad down the line. But this was like this was an

expensive car. It was the A4 with pretty much

the most expensive other than an S4 or an RS4 or something.

The most expensive engine you could get.

So it's like a $90,000, you know, Audi A4 when a normal one might have been 70, so big difference.

But drives beautifully, just bucket, loads of talk, bucket loads of power. And I know the guy that's owned

it since new and he just said I've never had an issue with it, just normally service, that's it.

Never had a blip in 150,000 K, which for an Audi from 09, I think that's quite remarkable. But then my mate who who ended

up buying it, he because I sort of said, oh look, this is coming up for Saudi, are you keen on that?

And he was, he did some sniffing around forums and things and apparently that three liter six with the normal auto is, yeah, is good. So that's my car plates.

Yeah, not much else. Very good, very good.

So yeah, pretty much it's 200, two 106 kilowatts and 344 Newton meters to the front wheels. They only came as autos.

And I think they're like a flappy paddle.

Yeah, so kind of a cool. It's kind of a cool car.

It looks the same as just a normal little like 09/10 Corolla sort of thing. A little bit nicer though,

because this has got leather and Alcantara, that's.

What We just got Alcantara Dash, which is pretty cool and leather. Leather.

It sounds like nice. Yeah, I couldn't.

How much was it, Scotty? So this one here to get it

brought in is only 12,900 bucks. That's a lot of car for. 12/9 so

they got 68,000 kilometers on the clock.

That would cuz those Orient V sixes were really tough that 3.5

they were bomb. Proof Great motor like strong

motor. They, you know, they even

supercharged them And those motors, that 3.5 was used in

everything. They even used it in the Lotus

Lotus Savora and they and they sound killer with an exhaust like they sound awesome. So that would actually be a very

reliable little hot hatch for very for cheap money.

And a lot of the other parts are pure Corolla, you know, it's, you know, a dime a dozen at the record stuff.

You can actually keep that on the road very cheaply I would think. I think so.

And I think I wonder what the the zero to 100 times on that car because it'd be it'd be bloody quick.

Like it'd be a it'd be a quick car, I think that'd be.

That'd be a six second car wouldn't.

I mean on his on Iron Chef imports, where I got it from, he's got three of them on there, all ranging from 12,900 up to 15,700. But what market were these sold

This makes 60 kilowatts more, you know, like 66 kilowatts more. So it's like the real it is a

real sleep of that car because to to nine people that attend in the street, they would just think it's a Corolla hatch.

glove box leading on the binnacle.

The seats are leather. They are, yeah.

So I think for the money, that's pretty darn good.

Oh yeah, what do you It's not even a brand new Swift or a brand new Mazda 2. You know, it's less than.

It's less than either of those. And and that two GRV 6, it's a

timing chain not a belt I think for memory.

So, so they are like one of the tensioners like Matthew.

you'll get you'll get the Blade Master F with 16 attachments.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of these. They actually made a 2.5 liter

V6 version for memory, and that one was available with a manual, but I don't think we're allowed to get that one.

So what engine was that from? The 2.5 and it's a smaller V6.

I'm not too sure that might have been from like a I don't even I don't even know to be honest. But I know they did.

They did do a smaller VA baby V6 version of it and that one was available in the menu. This one wasn't and I don't know

why because considering that what they called Lotus have got a gearbox that works in a transversely mounted way that's that's holds the power and holds supercharged.

They could have, probably, could have made that work, but in a car that would probably be easy to drive, be reliable, that would work and it'd be bloody quick.

I reckon that it'd be a fun car to drive, that it'd be, it'd be awesome, we'll go thirds, let's do it.
